Transcript
- 0:39None. What's up everybody?
- 0:51I'm right back at it. Kefi once again from
- 0:53ghostcoldman.com. I'm back in it.
- 0:56A little bit of a layover between the two streams.
- 1:00I'm back. We're doing the Regular Show
- 1:01now. Thanks everybody who tuned in
- 1:04earlier and especially those who tipped.
- 1:07I deeply appreciate it. I will share the tip menu once
- 1:10again. We're going to do the rock and
- 1:13metal news. That's what we do since 2012.
- 1:15Thirteen years ago yesterday, Ghost Cult was founded as a Zine
- 1:20in the Netherlands. I took it over about 5-6 months
- 1:24in and I've been the owner most of the time and now the co-owner
- 1:28with my partner Omar Khouri. It is not 2:00 PM Eastern.
- 1:32It's not 2:00 AM Eastern Dillinger Compound.
- 1:34I'm here at a normal time. I ended up doing a live stream
- 1:38right before this where I reviewed the new Aussie
- 1:41documentary because I did not want to go late late at night
- 1:44for another night in a row. I was just too beat to do it so
- 1:47I did it earlier. I normally don't do too
- 1:49back-to-back and I think I screwed up my intro video the
- 1:52last time also. So like whatever man, you know
- 1:55we're all just trying to fake it till we make it.
- 1:57The world is upside down. The Yankees suck.
- 2:00They lost, bitched out once again.
- 2:03Hockey season is here. Basketball season is here.
- 2:05Football season is basically over for me mostly.
- 2:08Hey, March, metal minute, what's up again?
- 2:12I have the Dillinger News. I have.
- 2:15I might try to go to that Berkeley show because that
- 2:17shit's, you know, in my backyard, basically a train ride
- 2:19away from my house. So San Francisco, San Francisco,
- 2:25here we go. Right on time.
- 2:30So let's see as you know the best experience for this show
- 2:33you're new here and not one of my real ones in everyday airs.
- 2:37The best experience for this show is Facebook, Twitch,
- 2:39Instagram, YouTube especially feel free to give us a super
- 2:43like or a super thanks or a super chat.
- 2:45I will drop the menu in a few seconds and share all the
- 2:49things. So let's do this.
- 2:51You also be part of the conversation, ask me some
- 2:55questions, drop some comments. I appreciate all of you.
- 2:59Time for the announcements. It is a heavy week of
- 3:01announcements. Vincent Wren, what up?
- 3:04Aiden is here. Good times.
- 3:06Good times. Let's see if anybody is on the
- 3:07gram. Melanie KPR is here and
- 3:11tunneling official. Good to see you also.
- 3:13So time for the announcements where we start every show?
- 3:17Yep. Cynic Death club in Moonwell.
- 3:19Yeah. Incredible.
- 3:20Back back back home show for Eugene Robinson of Boom.
- 3:24Well, everybody else is from your death club and Cynic guys
- 3:27like one of my favorite death metal bands.
- 3:29So dude, that is a great show. All right, we'll talk about that
- 3:32more in a minute. Again, 13 years ago's cult.
- 3:36Honestly, I appreciate everybody that's ever worked with us been
- 3:41a stakeholder, a senior leadership person, everybody
- 3:45that's ever written, taken a photo, talked to someone,
- 3:47interviewed someone, covered a festival.
- 3:49I appreciate all of you. And you know, it's not lost on
- 3:53me how hard it is to maintain anything for Baker's dozen worth
- 3:57of years, professionally or semi professionally.
- 4:00So 13 years ago, Scott might be running a giveaway tomorrow.
- 4:06Stay tuned. Once again, if you're in the
- 4:10California area, we are giving away 5 pairs of tickets to the
- 4:16Cult Death, Cult Failure and Patriarchy at the Tetragram
- 4:21Ballroom. Painak Pure Rock is also here.
- 4:29Jesus is also here. Jesus.
- 4:32And then it's nice. So yeah, then we're giving away
- 4:34free tickets to that show at the end of the month.
- 4:39Yeah, we got people popping in all the real ones.
- 4:42I appreciate it. Once again, I launched my own
- 4:46channel on YouTube, officially relaunched it, Ghost Cult TV
- 4:51666. Feel free to follow me there for
- 4:53some behind the scenes stuff, shenanigans and TV related
- 4:57things that are in addition to Ghost Cult and sometimes
- 5:00including Ghost Cult. Like this live stream right now.
- 5:03What a rough one man. This is this one killed me.
- 5:07Anne Everton, 1/2 of the psychedelic rock group
- 5:10Dorsombre, died Friday night in an automobile accident while the
- 5:15band was going between cities on tour.
- 5:17We don't have a lot of details. Brian, her partner, was injured.
- 5:20But we'll be OK. But it's just devastating.
- 5:23I saw them a year ago across the street from my house.
- 5:26They were phenomenal. DIY, independent toward the
- 5:30whole world, played festivals, made their own merch.
- 5:33I've unboxed and shown off many of my merch from them, merch
- 5:38purchases, and it's just a heartbreaker.
- 5:40Just a wonderful soul and a creative super genius.
- 5:43And the world is a shittier place without them in it, so
- 5:47that really sucks. There's a GoFundMe we've shared
- 5:51on our website if you want to donate to the recovery fund and
- 5:55the services set up by their families.
- 6:00Me, the giant chicken from Family Guy, also put to rest
- 6:03this week and finally passed away.
- 6:05The giant chicken is Boba Fett Peter Griffin voice.
- 6:10Yeah, you know, because you got to laugh.
- 6:12Things are so sad sometimes that you got to just have some fun
- 6:16and laughs, right? Otherwise we'd just be super sad
- 6:18all the time. Under Chief is here.
- 6:20What up? What up?
- 6:27See what y'all do over on over on TikTok.
- 6:33See if you guys can help me do a thing.
- 6:36But anyway, yeah, also, this was a real sad one.
- 6:43Ace from Tiger Tales died the the glam metal band.
- 6:47He was the drummer. Super sad.
- 6:50Super sad. David Pareto is here.
- 6:52What up? What up?
- 6:53Good to see you back. Also is the 5th anniversary of
- 6:57the death of Edward Van Halen. Wolfie Van Halen posted a really
- 7:03nice story about him. And, you know, we're all still
- 7:06feeling the loss of the guy. It just seems surreal that we're
- 7:10living in a world he would have been 70 years old and get to see
- 7:13it. Sharon Osbourne celebrates a
- 7:16birthday today. A lot of Aussie stuff.
- 7:18If you were just watching me on the live stream about an hour
- 7:20and a half, two hours ago, I did a review of the Aussie
- 7:24documentary from Paramount Plus. But Sharon, you know, it's been
- 7:26a tough time. I hope she had a great day.
- 7:28That's a picture shared. 8 Theory is also here.
- 7:32What up? What up?
- 7:33Bubba Buddha is here. The one and only Jason Virus.
- 7:36Welcome back, Jason Virus. David Lee Roth celebrated
- 7:41birthday today. Al Jorgensen Ministry has a
- 7:44birthday this week. Lizzie Hale of Hailstorms got a
- 7:49birthday this week. And Eric Martin and Mr. Big also
- 7:52celebrating a birthday this week.
- 7:57And then what I like to do is go through the, you know, a little
- 8:00metal history this week. So albums released this week,
- 8:04this past week in metal history. Gabe is here.
- 8:07What's up, Gabe? So it's up to you, Sir, in
- 8:11keeping secrets of Silent Earth 3, Coheed And Cambria.
- 8:14Not too shabby. Let's see in the court of the
- 8:18Dragon Trivium. New trivia VP coming soon.
- 8:21This was the Ghost Called album of the year for 2021.
- 8:24In one of our closest races ever by vote, Soundgardens Eternal
- 8:28Bad Motor Finger celebrated an anniversary.
- 8:34Next year we'll be 35 years old. Oh my God, the tarmac is here.
- 8:37What's up. Dead radio show is back.
- 8:39Flow 22 is back. What's up?
- 8:41Overkill Immortalis. Solid, excellent record.
- 8:44Sometimes 2 Slayer Records released this week in History,
- 8:48Rain and Blood and South of Heaven, Hammer fall.
- 8:54Great record. Dare Renegade.
- 9:00Jackson didn't even share anything.
- 9:01Well, yeah, you could tell. You could tell the the
- 9:04documentary was brutal. I'm sure she she suffered just,
- 9:07you know, he suffered the most, but they his family suffered
- 9:10right along with him. That was what I put out.
- 9:13My Dying Bride just hit with the news that Aaron is out as the
- 9:16singer of My Dying Bride and they're probably going to
- 9:18continue with Mikko. Just heartbreaking.
- 9:22But My Dying Bride had three albums come out over different
- 9:25years in history. A line of deathless kings like
- 9:29Gods of the Sun. And this record, the 34.788%
- 9:34record, I don't know what this is, but yeah, I love not My
- 9:39Dying Bride. Great band.
- 9:40The X is here. What's up?
- 9:42The real LOL is here. Doc Rock's metal is here.
- 9:45Catherine Mcderm Ryder So yeah, Aaron is out of My Dying Bride.
- 9:52We were just talking about them last night, weren't we?
- 9:55Gabe Marilyn Manson Antichrist Superstar Hard to believe this
- 9:59record will be 30 years old next year.
- 10:02Geez. Louise.
- 10:05Korn Not one of my favorite records, but decent.
- 10:09Paradigm Shift Bathory This is a great one.
- 10:15Suffocation Effigy of the Forgotten, maybe still their
- 10:17best record. I love it so much.
- 10:20Here's a good example, Metal Church.
- 10:22Here's a fucking terrible, terrible album cover.
- 10:27Like what the fuck were they thinking in 1993 with this
- 10:30hanging in the balance? Fucking abomination.
- 10:34Just like a professional metal band does not have this album
- 10:37cover. And then this very good album,
- 10:40The Dark, which I like quite a bit, So what the fuck.
- 10:43But anyway, Testament souls of Black New Testament album out
- 10:48this weekend. I'm super stoked for Parabellum.
- 10:50Stay tuned for my interview soon with Chuck Billy, Static XS
- 10:55Shadow zone. Very solid record for them.
- 10:59A decrepit birth. And so it begins the you know,
- 11:02just the fucking space death metal, death metal about space
- 11:07kind of origin and other things. Chris Green is here.
- 11:10Vibes is here. Rigor Mortis.
- 11:12Slave to the grave. Oh I love Rigor Mortis.
- 11:15What a what a sad fact that that band is no longer around Running
- 11:19Christ with one of their earlier albums, Dead Poem Queens, right?
- 11:23Digital Noise Alliance, one of the more recent albums.
- 11:25Not a huge fan. It's OK.
- 11:28Chrissian. This is my jam.
- 11:31This is my jam. I love Chrissian man.
- 11:34This is the Devil Wears Prada. Transit Blues.
- 11:40Meshuga, The Violent Sleep of Reason.
- 11:43Great album. Yep, Mike Sianka and yeah man,
- 11:49quite a few, quite a few people came through that band that are
- 11:51gone. Dillinger Nuclear Assault came
- 11:56over. This is a record from my junior
- 11:58high school, Chris Green says. I remember my Static X days when
- 12:01I saw them way back in its 2008 Warp tour.
- 12:04That was wild Warp tour used to put on metal bands.
- 12:07They did have quite a few metal bands in the comeback this year.
- 12:09Thank you for sharing Chris, I appreciate you.
- 12:15I loved you. It's your darkest.
- 12:17Excellent Behemoth record from a while back.
- 12:19This is right before the Pandemi Lovato.
- 12:22Pretty bad ass. I got to meet Nagal when they
- 12:24did this and drink the limited edition Behemoth beer which was
- 12:28very dark and pocky and not generally my jam but it was
- 12:31tasty. Orange Goblin soon to retire
- 12:34back from the abyss. Excellent Sepultura against
- 12:38first record with Derrick Green. Pretty fucking phenomenal.
- 12:42Sanctuary The year the sun died. This is the great former band.
- 12:45The pre nevermore world Dane thrash metal band.
- 12:50Soylent Green Sewn mouth secrets.
- 12:52This one rules. So green kind of semi
- 12:55reactivated right? Skeleton wench Forever
- 12:59Abomination. Solid.
- 13:00There's other records they have. I like more.
- 13:03Exodus, Pleasures of the Flesh, the debut of Zetro.
- 13:06Zetro in Bail Off Out. Don is not here this week in
- 13:15history. Megadeth became the first band
- 13:17to launch a website when they launched Megadeth Arizona in
- 13:211994. This week in October, 94, so 31
- 13:26years ago. God damn, Chris asks how to beam
- 13:29its new album. Stand Up to the Satanist.
- 13:31I got to tell you the the title track was not good.
- 13:35The rest of the album was all bangers, but I just hated that
- 13:38title track. I think it was not good.
- 13:42I think the Satanist is still hard to beat of the later era
- 13:46Behemoth stuff I came into being with early with the black and
- 13:49death metal in the black metal. Zeo Coscolta and the L6 are my
- 13:54two favorite Behemoth records, but I love the Satanist.
- 13:57I didn't give the new one a try. That title track blows, but the
- 14:00rest of it is very good. I would probably say it's a
- 14:03strong that's that one song is so bad it probably drags down a
- 14:06920, but that's just me. Once again, you know, you can
- 14:12feel too. If you're feeling generous, you
- 14:13can drop a tip and support us. I already shared the tip menu in
- 14:18the last stream, so I don't. And we did get a couple of
- 14:22donations, which I'm grateful for 13 years.
- 14:24We're not corporate back. We do make a little bit of money
- 14:27from advertising, but not a whole lot.
- 14:32I am aiming to to at least launch channel memberships soon.
- 14:37I keep talking about that, but I'm going to do it.
- 14:41And thanks for following Chris. When I'm done with this, I'll
- 14:43give you a follow back. So there's our cash app.
- 14:46All right, time for the features.
- 14:48I'll put me back on. It's me.
- 14:49Hey, it's me. We dropped the new single from
- 14:55the band Thrill Rot. One word, Thrill Rot, sort of
- 14:59crossover, deathy vocals with thrash metal.
- 15:02Very good band. They've been fiercely DIY for a
- 15:06while. Their new album comes out next
- 15:07week and we dropped their new single.
- 15:09It's pretty fire. I just did a live stream where I
- 15:11reviewed the new Ozzy documentary No Escape From Now
- 15:15and I've got to tell you it is a heartbreaker.
- 15:18And if you love Ozzy Osbourne and you love just metal and, and
- 15:24human interests and, and this whole last this year has been
- 15:28just a killer emotionally for me and a lot of people and losing
- 15:32Ozzy, I was not ready. And this one's a hard one.
- 15:35I watch it one more time. I watch the BBC One also that's
- 15:38out. But like after that I need a
- 15:40break. Halloween.
- 15:42I just ran my new interview with Michael Vilkoff of Halloween new
- 15:46album Giants and Monsters out now on Raining Phoenix Music.
- 15:49Super cool interview. Michael has been mostly in the
- 15:52band for the majority of their history.
- 15:53It was a break when he left the band and then came back.
- 15:57He is one of the principal songwriters.
- 15:58He has written many classic Halloween songs and it was a
- 16:02really fun interview. He like smoked the whole time.
- 16:04We did the interview on a balcony with his iPhone.
- 16:07It was really fun. He's he's a saucy, sassy older
- 16:12guy. Also, my partner Omar Cordy
- 16:16interviewed Matt Barlow of Ashes of Ares, formerly of Iced Earth,
- 16:20maybe again someday soon of Iced Earth.
- 16:23Ashes of Aries has a new album out, New Messiahs right now and
- 16:27they are on tour playing the Dark Saga and other Iced Earth
- 16:30hits along with Ashes of Aries material.
- 16:33So if you missed Iced Earth and not a traitor, you know, Matt is
- 16:36the brother-in-law of of John Schaefer from my third.
- 16:39So he was diplomatic about talking about that stuff.
- 16:41But like, you know, it's a very good interview about his vocal
- 16:43process and how he writes songs and you know, the the amount of
- 16:47work that they have put into ashes.
- 16:50Very so pretty fucking bad ass. I was happy about that.
- 16:53Again, check out our interview with Jed Simon and Kalen Chase
- 16:57of Vimic. Vimic's finally their debut
- 17:00album Open Your Omen is out now featuring Joey Jordison of
- 17:03Slipknot. That was his band.
- 17:05They played a big charity show last Friday in LA.
- 17:08Not sure if touring is really possible for them with many
- 17:11members spread out from all over, but if there's enough
- 17:14interest, perhaps out of Joey Love this year again.
- 17:18I also recently ran my new interview with Orbit Culture
- 17:22Nicholas Carlson. Great album that came out last
- 17:24Friday also. Let's see.
- 17:28Yeah Also we did the first episode of a new series on my
- 17:32other podcast, the glacially musical podcast Beer, Metal and
- 17:35Swearing. We started a brand new series on
- 17:38Alice In Chains. So we've started with Facelift
- 17:41and the pre grunge history of Alice In Chains in the Seattle
- 17:45glam rock scene that kind of became Pearl Jam and Mud, Honey
- 17:50and Alice In Chains. So super interesting stuff.
- 17:54Next week we tackle SAP and Dirt, followed by a chaser in
- 17:58between the episodes, The Beer and the chaser.
- 18:01And then more on Alice In Chains to that.
- 18:05That's on YouTube at Glacially musical podcast Glacially
- 18:08Musical, as well as where if you listen to podcasts, the show
- 18:12will be a podcast. Ghost Call has our own podcast
- 18:16with this shows a podcast. All my interviews are podcasts.
- 18:18We have other special stand alone content on the podcast as
- 18:23well. Now it's time for the news
- 18:24rundown and I will take a sip of my drink.
- 18:29And as always, we start with the festival's little abbreviated
- 18:32compared to most recent weeks. Blood Stock Open Air has
- 18:37announced a fuck ton of bands. We just ran our coverage of this
- 18:41a couple of weeks ago. I'm really stoked about it.
- 18:46So many cool bands. Let's just begin this for a
- 18:49second. We criminally dude.
- 18:52We I've interviewed is a Tad. I've interviewed Tad for his
- 18:56solo stuff and we had a whole conversation about Tad.
- 18:59I love Tad bro. So a whole bunch of bands got
- 19:02added to this. Your headliners for Bloodstock
- 19:05are Saxon, Lamb of God, Slaughter to Prevail and Judas
- 19:09Priest. But Sepultura, Black Label,
- 19:11Society, Body Count, Kryptopsy, Leprous, Shining, The Good One,
- 19:20Carpenter Brood, Mushroom Head. The weekend is almost all sold
- 19:24out of tickets, which is kind of fucking crazy if you look at it.
- 19:27I do the yells is back. What's up?
- 19:29I do the yells that's for blood pass by also over an enemy.
- 19:34What up bro? Thanks for being back.
- 19:36We appreciate you sip in the world.
- 19:40The story that Ghost called broke and no one gave us any
- 19:42fucking credit for. I am the one who did the
- 19:44research and the homework on this.
- 19:46We originally brought you the news that Sick New World is
- 19:49coming back in 2026 and over the weekend that our fan signing
- 19:53Search Tankian basically confirmed they are the headliner
- 19:57of the festival. The Internet is abuzz with
- 20:02commentary about this and there is a rumor on Reddit also that
- 20:07maybe it's going to be moved to Texas from Vegas.
- 20:11Not as big as I do not envision having a good time in the heat
- 20:14in Texas, but if you put it in Austin, I'd be down.
- 20:19Maybe Houston. I don't see Dallas hosting this
- 20:22thing, so I don't know. I think Vegas was a big draw for
- 20:26a lot of people, but it was supposedly.
- 20:29System of a Down will be returning in as the headline and
- 20:31this amazing photo is by Kim Hanson Photography, who covered
- 20:35this sick new world with me in 2022.
- 20:39How much fires fest? This is from the founder of the
- 20:42original Hellfest in upstate New York, The hardcore metal core
- 20:46Hellfest. Not the not the one in France.
- 20:53Of course they should do it in South Padre Island.
- 20:57I don't know. You're the Texas expert here
- 21:00over an enemy, so you tell me. But Endless Fires Fest probably
- 21:03promised to have a lot of hardcore bands.
- 21:05They were mad that somebody else Vegas is going to do a tough
- 21:08time. That's fair.
- 21:09That's not unfair, Sir. Furnace Fest is coming back.
- 21:13They, I was really surprised. I'm happy they're coming back.
- 21:16They've put on a very good fest. This year was tough for them.
- 21:18They had a lower prices and cut back a few things like there's
- 21:22some of their after shows. But they are returning to the
- 21:25first weekend in October in 2026.
- 21:27So we shall see. A silver surprise for their 25th
- 21:31anniversary. Maybe that their 20th was going
- 21:33to be their last one. Let's see if they come back.
- 21:35Mental Devastation Fest in Tennessee is coming up this
- 21:39weekend. Our Homies in casket robbery
- 21:41Frail and Filth and Summoner Circle are all in the
- 21:45headliners. Visitant will also be there
- 21:48should be interesting ripple music is announced.
- 21:53Their 15th anniversary party at bottom of the hill in my
- 21:56backyard of San Francisco headlined by Fireball ministry,
- 21:59Zed and Black Wolf and we'll probably go to this.
- 22:03This is right around mid-december.
- 22:08Emissions from the Monolith was like a killer festival 10 years
- 22:11ago in Youngstown, OH, and they are coming back in 2026 this
- 22:17weekend in 26. So they announced it a year
- 22:19early, which is super interesting.
- 22:22All right, that's all the festival news for this week.
- 22:24Now on to the concerts. This is the biggest story of the
- 22:28week. I did a live stream on this.
- 22:31Rush is back with the 50 something tour.
- 22:34Lot of mixed emotions. I'm sure there's a whole segment
- 22:37of their fan base that is like absolutely fucking not without
- 22:41Neil Perry. But you know, these guys are
- 22:44still relatively young in their 60s and 50 years of Rush, which
- 22:49has been an ongoing celebratory thing.
- 22:50There's a 50 years of Rush LP set.
- 22:53There's a, you know, all kinds of collections where they've
- 22:56been doing vinyl reissues for years and, you know, Neil passed
- 23:00away. It's going to be 10 years in
- 23:01January. Sorry.
- 23:02It's going to be 6 years in January. 10 years since they
- 23:04last played because Neil's health was in, you know,
- 23:07declining with a brain tumor. And then, you know, I'm, I'm,
- 23:11I'm OK with it. I think this is the test run.
- 23:14They've already added a bunch more dates to each city.
- 23:17I think this is the run to see if it's successful and will sell
- 23:20and then we will probably see them do like a residency at the
- 23:24Sphere. They will probably do maybe
- 23:27Europe because they have no plan.
- 23:29No, no Europe has been announced yet.
- 23:31Lenny is here. What up Lenny?
- 23:34My uncle was Lenny. I'm going to say as a huge long
- 23:38time Rush fan, Rush was my first big rock concert.
- 23:41I saw Rush in Kansas at Madison Square Garden when I was 13.
- 23:45My brother took me and so you know what?
- 23:47I I'm OK with this. There's a lot of bands with no
- 23:50original members. At least Getty and Alex can get
- 23:54out there and play the Rush catalog.
- 23:56And Anika Niles is the replacement drummer, the new
- 24:01drummer, the filling drummer. And I thought she did AI thought
- 24:05she was. She's a good choice because if
- 24:07you pick, I thought maybe Danny Carey a fool, or Portnoy has
- 24:10been campaigning for it, or Mangini or a bunch of other
- 24:14Marco Minneman, a bunch of people, perhaps Thomas Pridgen.
- 24:16But at the end of the day, if you pick to see a person too big
- 24:21a star, it becomes a little bit of a circus and takes the focus
- 24:25off of the two guys and also the tribute of Neil.
- 24:30So yeah, Rush at the Sphere would be insane.
- 24:32They're literally the band the Sphere was made for, right?
- 24:34Demo tool in my opinion, in my humble opinion, here you go
- 24:40Dillinger, Dillinger Escape Plan Calculating Infinity shows at
- 24:43the Belasco, the Observatory, and the Regency Ballroom again
- 24:49Cynic Death Club and Boonwell will be playing these shows.
- 24:56I think Death Club is doing Friday and is doing the 12th and
- 25:00the 13th and Boonwell is just doing the LA and the SF show.
- 25:09It's Cynic on all three. Seems like Cynic is on all
- 25:13three. I love me some cynic, man.
- 25:15I love me some cynic. Anybody watch that?
- 25:17Into the Void and saw the deaf episode with Paul Masvidal and
- 25:21young pictures of them. So yeah, I'm very excited about
- 25:25this. Dillinger.
- 25:26I thought they were kind of wrapping it up, but maybe that's
- 25:28the B. Maybe that will be the final,
- 25:30final final. 9 Inch Nails tickets went on sale and
- 25:33immediately bots fucked up everybody's good time and the
- 25:37tickets are astronomical and people are fucking furious.
- 25:40I really hope I've been reporting on this.
- 25:42The FTC's investigation into Live Nation and Ticketmaster,
- 25:46which apparently came from Kid Rock telling Trump that someone
- 25:49needed to look into the unfair ticketing practices.
- 25:51So, you know, got to give. I may not like Kid Rock for
- 25:55everything, but I appreciate that he was looking out for at
- 25:57least that. So let me know if you got 9 Inch
- 26:00Nails tickets. Judas Priest and Alice Cooper
- 26:02tour continues with Coci should be heading out to this next week
- 26:08to Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, CA just South of
- 26:11San Francisco with my homie Jorge from my band.
- 26:14I believe we're going Forbidden is announced in South American
- 26:19tour dates for next year. I'm sure we're going to get a
- 26:21forbidden single and album announcement any day now.
- 26:24Violence and Venom Inc or whatever is passing for Venom
- 26:28Inc is on tour A lot of drama going on with the Venom guys
- 26:34right now with like potentially 3 different venoms season to
- 26:38risk who I interviewed on our YouTube and podcast earlier this
- 26:41year for their comeback record 1800 meltdown has announced tour
- 26:46dates. They're also coming to the West
- 26:47Coast season to risk and sisters Kansas City.
- 26:51They're starting in their hometown, Denver, Albuquerque,
- 26:54Tucson, San Diego, LASF and pretty fucking cool.
- 27:00I'm looking forward to that. This one kind of caught me a
- 27:05little bit by surprise. This is this is the prog band
- 27:11that is oh, blanked on their name because they're like here
- 27:17here's bad design, good design, bad design.
- 27:20Where's your name on this logo? Where's your name here?
- 27:22But yeah, I think this is the prog band MLP, and they play
- 27:26like progressive rock, like flying colors.
- 27:28Pretty fun. Mudvayne continues their tour.
- 27:32I don't know that we're going to get to cover this.
- 27:33I didn't get to go to Aftershock and so I don't know if we're
- 27:36going to get to cover this tour yet, but I'm hopeful.
- 27:39We shall see. Paradise Lost is kicked off
- 27:43their UK tour. We'll be covering that tomorrow
- 27:46in Wolverhampton at KK Downings Club.
- 27:51KK Steel Mill or his former club he founded and now doesn't own
- 27:55with Mesa. What a what a great fucking
- 27:58opener that is. Mesa is probably still one of my
- 28:01best albums of the year. Gore is on tour right now with
- 28:04Helmet Dwarves and Blood Vulture.
- 28:06The Return of Gore. Gore tour featuring Gore, Gore,
- 28:09Gore, gore and more. I love saying that.
- 28:11I'm going to keep saying that till the tour is over.
- 28:15Oops, this again. Dark Angel also coming to my
- 28:18town next week, rolling through on their new album Extinction
- 28:22Level event. Lots of good times there.
- 28:25And another good interview with Gene Hoagland that I have.
- 28:29Once again, if you feel like you're feeling tipsy and you're
- 28:32feeling generous, feel free to drop us a tip.
- 28:34I appreciate it. Thanks for being here.
- 28:37We do this every week for 13 years.

- 29:38discord, Reddit. We're around once again.
- 29:43I love this bad Bunny meme about the halftime show.
- 29:45Too bad I won't be watching. Yep, that's you.
- 29:49So again, Ozzie, Doc is out on Paramount plus.
- 29:52No escape from now. Like I said, if you after you're
- 29:54done watching this, if you want to go watch the video I just did
- 29:56where I basically spoiler reviewed the whole thing more or
- 29:59less without for you. If you haven't seen it, it's
- 30:02very heavy. It's very fucking heavy.
- 30:05I think Ozzie used to say if I ever get incapacitated, just let
- 30:08me die with give me some pills and let me die like a Viking.
- 30:11He did not get that wet. She suffered a lot, a lot more
- 30:14than you think. It's really sad.
- 30:15Joey diabolics here. Hey Joey, I have a shout out to
- 30:18you. I need to get a link to buy your
- 30:21new magazine. That's that's in the show here
- 30:23if you stick around about 5 more minutes.
- 30:26Also out this week, Ozzy Osbourne's book Last Rites, his
- 30:29final memoir. Husband, father, grandfather,
- 30:31fucking icon, yo Joey diabolic yo.
- 30:38Maybe we should do an interview Joey, to talk about your
- 30:40magazine. I'll be honest and I owe you a
- 30:43call. Also a separate call, but sorry
- 30:45about that. It's been a tough time, but
- 30:47Ozzie's book is out and apparently he finished it like
- 30:49weeks before he passed, which is insane.
- 30:54Rob Zombies putting out a new song tomorrow.
- 30:56House of was it Devil's Rejects his back in movies this week and
- 31:01Rob has a new song coming out. He's on tour, he's got his
- 31:04Halloween horror shit at Universal.
- 31:07Punks and Demons is the new songs coming out tomorrow.
- 31:10I'm sure we'll talk about it next week.
- 31:13Mike Dean from COC, almost a year after departing the band
- 31:16permanently, has launched a new band and was interviewed about
- 31:21his new band and said, oh, you know, I would never say never
- 31:24about coming back, but just right now, I don't think so.
- 31:26So, you know, if you've been holding out hope that COC would
- 31:29someday return with Mike, I was encouraged by this.
- 31:32I am very excited about new COC. They're on tour.
- 31:35They have a new record that's basically finished.
- 31:37It's almost done. They're on the road with Cooper
- 31:40and Priest, which is should be very good for them.
- 31:42Their new record is coming out in I believe Q1 of 2026 on
- 31:47nuclear blast. Dolly Parton is better.
- 31:51That's the number one story. Man, I just lost Ozzy.
- 31:54I cannot afford to lose Dolly Parton out of my life.
- 31:56Her sister had made a plea on social media to send up your
- 32:00prayers for Dolly. And you know, Dolly is an Angel
- 32:03and a treasure on earth. She did post a video.
- 32:05Like, clearly I'm not sick. It's a very bad Dolly party
- 32:09impression. I'm sorry, everybody.
- 32:10That's southern. Yeah, man, you know, I, I think
- 32:15our Reddit official page is down.
- 32:20But like, I post to Reddit our articles a lot, and a lot of our
- 32:24traffic comes from either Google search or Reddit.
- 32:27Much more than it used to, and certainly more than social media
- 32:30now. But anyway, Dolly's going to be
- 32:32OK Freda. Freda.
- 32:34Pardon. Maybe she jumped the gun.
- 32:35Dolly has not been doing great. Also similar to Sharon since her
- 32:38husband Carl died earlier this year.
- 32:40We cannot lose Dolly. Please surround her with
- 32:43bulletproof glass and germ killing medicines.
- 32:47Please. I didn't want to talk about
- 32:51this, but I'm just going to get it out there as I lay dying his
- 32:53back. 10 Million Beasts has put a new band together.
- 32:55He's got a new record coming out.
- 32:57I didn't listen to the song. I don't care.
- 32:59He's booked a big tour. A lot of people are up in their
- 33:02feelings about Tim. We did interview Tim before the
- 33:06latest bullshit with him and personal shit spilling out into
- 33:10the public. And, you know, rainy Phoenix
- 33:13music. I just talked about them being
- 33:14the label of Halloween and Inside and Meshuggah and Opeth.
- 33:19Like it's a very small business, the metal music world.
- 33:22Rain Father is here. What's up?
- 33:23It's a very small world. So it's like, you know what,
- 33:27there's other bands I'd rather lift up support than him and his
- 33:31band. I don't care.
- 33:33I don't think we'll be interviewing them again.
- 33:35I'm not going to hold it against the record label for working
- 33:39with an artist that sells records, just like I didn't hold
- 33:41it against Nuclear Blast or working with Manson.
- 33:44I I don't think that makes me a bad person.
- 33:47I'd rather give my space to other people than deal with this
- 33:51and and have to have that go on my face and fool me once, fool
- 33:54me a million times. But just so you know, I'm not
- 33:57ignoring the story. I just, I don't care that much.
- 34:02Deftones, Deftones, Deftones. Chino did a really cool podcast
- 34:07interview with A Broken Record, which is a podcast and audio
- 34:11only podcast. For the Sake of Heaviness is
- 34:13Here, What's Up? And Chino, I didn't realize
- 34:16this, but Chino actually wrote most of the guitar parts on
- 34:19private music. We've been doing a lot of
- 34:21private music coverage and I did a review of it and I went to see
- 34:24them and I didn't get to see them in Aftershock, but
- 34:26hopefully I'll see them in the spring again.
- 34:28And you know, you know how to carry the lion's share of the
- 34:32guitar work on the record. And Steph actually, because
- 34:35Steph has been apparently the real deal is that Steph has
- 34:38diabetes. Really.
- 34:39He had really bad type 2 diabetes.
- 34:41There's a guy that didn't go to the doctor enough and then wised
- 34:45up late just like me. I still didn't do a health
- 34:48update, but maybe next week we'll see.
- 34:50And Steph was like, Chino did such an awesome job.
- 34:54Some of the rips are so great. And I came in and I got to put
- 34:56my own stuff on top of it and next to it and some other
- 34:59things. And I thought that was super
- 35:01cool to see Chino get that DAP from his boy Stefan.
- 35:06So really cool, man. Ethan's complete discography is
- 35:11now on Spotify. I thought you should know this.
- 35:14Ethan is one of my favorite bands.
- 35:15You've seen me interview Dave multiple times.
- 35:17I also interviewed Craig and Lum who sometimes plays with Exodus.
- 35:21So super cool. I love heathen.
- 35:23I'll be spending some Heathen this weekend.
- 35:26I know over an enemy is a heathen.
- 35:28A bunch of Heathen fans by the way.
- 35:31Just just one thing. I didn't really address it in in
- 35:34the deck here for the show, but I just wanted a really quick
- 35:36sidebar and say like, don't hold it against metal bands and death
- 35:41metal bands specifically if they're like pushing out Grammy
- 35:45stuff, even though I don't care for the Grammys, we do talk
- 35:49about the Grammys and complain about them a lot.
- 35:51But the Grammys are an important thing in music industry circles.
- 35:56So like if a label like Nuclear Blast is pushing fit for an
- 36:00Autopsy or Metal Blade is pushing Kill Switching Gauge or
- 36:05Blood Incantation is getting pushed by Century Media, that's
- 36:08the record labels who want the Grammy Award because that does
- 36:13actually help them. It actually boosts streaming
- 36:16numbers because people, it's a global audience, even if a tiny
- 36:19amount of it will like heavy extreme music, don't be like,
- 36:23oh, they're not that metal anymore because they're getting
- 36:26their wanna Grammy. Like that's the business.
- 36:29That's the music business. That doesn't mean the band is
- 36:32begging to get considered for Grammy.
- 36:34That's their record label doing that or their publicity teams
- 36:37that validates their work as a label and publicist.
- 36:41So don't be so judgmental. And you know, if they win a
- 36:45Grammy, good for them Ethan roles.
- 36:48And Kragen's one of the nicest dudes, isn't he?
- 36:50Isn't he so nice? He's also fucking brilliant.
- 36:52He does a lot of tab books. If you're a guitar nerd, he's
- 36:56incredible. Anyway, I don't know why this
- 36:59happened. Billy Corkin has teamed up with
- 37:03Erawan, which is the like super fufu LA supermarket nobody can
- 37:08afford to go to, to make his own goth smoothie.
- 37:11OG goth smoothie static ex lovers here.
- 37:14What up? My girlfriend Melissa put it
- 37:17best when she said who nominated this guy to take to be goth to
- 37:22be the guy goth spokesperson. You know who who nominated Billy
- 37:27Horgan to I'm goth? I thought it was a phase Billy.
- 37:31All all that said and good. Hey dogface, 2O8 is here.
- 37:34Holy shit, good to see you. Where's my cranberry juice at?
- 37:38But anyway, if you're in the LA area and you want to spend like
- 37:41$30.00 for a goth sundae or whatever smoothie, go right
- 37:45ahead. Billy does have a very cool tea
- 37:47room outside of downtown Chicago.
- 37:52I mean, he was kind of goth, but I appreciate you.
- 37:56He's he's not as goth as he thinks he is.
- 37:58I'll just put, I'll just put it that way.
- 38:02Children Of Bodom is getting a Follow the Reaper vinyl repress
- 38:06for the first time in a long time.
- 38:08This is pretty cool. Lexie Lejo died way back five
- 38:12years ago. I wonder what Bill Bill Burr
- 38:14thinks about that. You know, Bill Burr, I hated
- 38:17that guy. He got my dad.
- 38:19I didn't get to have my dad. Yeah, Bill Burr and Billy
- 38:24Corgan, they did, you know. Well, we live in a very strange
- 38:27and confusing times my friends. But anyway, Children Of Bodom
- 38:31fans. Melodic death metal.
- 38:32If you're a big fan, this record looks pretty cool.
- 38:35Cool merch options. Reaper Entertainment is the
- 38:39record label named for this record.
- 38:41They name their record label after this record, so they have
- 38:44the rights. It's pretty cool.
- 38:46I'm pretty happy for them. Rose Rain is here yo.
- 38:51Joey Diabolics magazine, HV Scene and Beyond issue #1 is out
- 38:56now locally in the Hudson Valley and tri-state area and I believe
- 39:01shipping for mail orders. Joey Diabolic is one of my
- 39:04favorite people in the whole music world.
- 39:06You've seen me interview him multiple times and he's just
- 39:10great people. Joey, let's do an interview soon
- 39:12and talk about the magazine and let me know where I can get one.
- 39:15If I got to send you some money to mail me one to the West
- 39:18Coast, we will do that. White people, as soon as one
- 39:22leaf hits the ground. All right, we're almost at the
- 39:24end of the show. Did you know what that means?
- 39:28It is the IT is time for the New Music Friday.
- 39:31And they're we're just in the thick of the last eight weeks of
- 39:35real heavy album release dates. So I'm going to just blast
- 39:39through the New Music Friday releases this week for the 10th
- 39:43of October tomorrow as I'm recording this tonight and shout
- 39:48it out. Let me know if you've heard of
- 39:51these bands, if you like these bands, if you're down, I will do
- 39:54the band name, album title, record label, Let's go.
- 40:00A caliph. Ecstatic Kingdom on a more Fatty
- 40:02Records for some death metal. Angel Face.
- 40:04I think they're named for the Fight Club character out in the
- 40:07street on Slovenly Records. Atomic Rooster.
- 40:10This is a reissue. Circle the Sun on Sherry Red
- 40:12Records. That's a band from the 60s.
- 40:15The battle lore is a light in the darkness, self released,
- 40:17good band. Blindfolded led to the Woods
- 40:19Killer band. The hardest thing about being
- 40:21gone is that no one believes me out on Prosthetic Records for
- 40:23some extreme metal, Blue Heron, great Stoner psychedelic rock,
- 40:26emulations on Blues, Funeral recordings, Blood Thought,
- 40:30Legions of Metal for some heavy metal, Dead Heat for some deathy
- 40:34thrash. Process of Elimination.
- 40:35Metal Blade records and so these guys Open Force Cavallera
- 40:39earlier in the year. They were phenomenal
- 40:40extortionists. Stare into the seething rooms.
- 40:43Unique Leader records for some tech death.
- 40:45First draft an instant before the promise of dawn on Bland
- 40:48records. Frail.
- 40:49This is incredible cult rock and doom metal.
- 40:52Heretics and lullabies on Napalm records.
- 40:54I think that's their first record for napalm.
- 40:56Friendship Commander is bare for some rock'n'roll on Magnetic eye
- 41:00records. God alone.
- 41:01The beep test on prosthetic records.
- 41:03Grave and Keep it Quiet for some metal corn.
- 41:05Solid-state records. Let's see what else.
- 41:08Enter a third for some black and death metal vestiges on the Fiat
- 41:11Productions. John 5's new solo album.
- 41:14Ghost Self released. No need for record label if
- 41:17you're John 5, right? Let's see what else?
- 41:22What else? Junk Breeze.
- 41:24Sick of the scene on Raging Planet Records?
- 41:26Lebaton de Roy the Chemist, Dell Exile on Ledlow Recordings,
- 41:31Living Dead Girl. The band.
- 41:33Conspiracy. Self released.
- 41:35Pretty good band. Let's see Mork to carry on the
- 41:39true Cult records for some black metal.
- 41:41Omnivide Arise EP on Seek and Strike records.
- 41:44Perpendicular band on Metalville records.
- 41:48I don't know if that's a pun. Probably the most talked about
- 41:50death metal band of the year. Sankuis of the Bog.
- 41:53Hideous Aftermath on Century Media records.
- 41:56Stonebirds. Perpetual Wasteland for some
- 41:58Stoner doom on Ripple music. Sweet classic heavy metal band
- 42:02Live at the Marquee re release on Metalville Records.
- 42:05Testament's new album Parabellum on Nuclear Blast Records.
- 42:09It fucking rules. Heard the whole thing.
- 42:11It's awesome. Bar and dear Watcher de Waldos
- 42:15on Trollzorn Records, Vile Apparition, St.
- 42:19Disman, Sold on Velosa on Signal Reps Records and Warrant.
- 42:24Not Cherry pie, but the speed of metal on Massacre Records.
- 42:28Pretty fucking rad. All right, It's almost the end
- 42:32of the show. I got to blow this popsicle
- 42:35stand. What am I going to do this week
- 42:36for the mailbag section? I'm going to share a record.
- 42:39I mentioned on my other podcast, the Glacially Musical Podcast,
- 42:43that I think Warren in LA has a chance to cease and desist the
- 42:48German warrant. That's correct.
- 42:49That is correct. Probably do bands.
- 42:52Let me give you some free advice before I do my vinyl check and
- 42:55get out of here. Yeah, man, Testament does keep
- 42:59getting better. Chris Dovas, their new drummer's
- 43:01a guy I've followed since he was a teenager when I lived in
- 43:03Boston. And he was a Berkeley, like
- 43:05early entry to Berkeley kid. And he played in a killer
- 43:09crossover thrash band called Sonic Pulse.
- 43:11They were like Megadeth, Rest in Peace, Junior.
- 43:14And he was just, he was in Seven Spires, who I love because
- 43:17they're Game of Thrones metal, right?
- 43:20And they have great power metal and heavy metal.
- 43:22So Dovas is really a big, big shoes to fill and he did a great
- 43:25job. Joey Diabolic, I'm going to
- 43:28message you after the show on my travels and we're going to plan
- 43:31something for next week. So I'm just unboxing.
- 43:34I found like a stack of vinyl. I never unopened and I never
- 43:38catalogued on disc cogs or whatever.
- 43:40So I have Ohm, which is the side band from Alice's Narrows of
- 43:44Sleep and variations on the theme.
- 43:47It's basically Chris Haikus, who was the original Sleep drummer,
- 43:51and my man Alice's Narrows, one of my favorite bassist, one of
- 43:55my favorite singers. I got this at Thrill House
- 43:59Records about a year and a half ago.
- 44:01And again, just never checked it as the lyrics, which is very
- 44:05cool because Al always has. Very cool.
- 44:08Maybe he's an underrated lyricist.
- 44:09I think because the riffs are so choice in that band, you don't
- 44:13really think about him as a lyricist.
- 44:14And he's such an incredible bass player and doom, not all that.
- 44:17You just don't remember that he has a very depth lyrical skill.
- 44:22But here's the album cover. Variations on a theme.
- 44:24Our back cover with a picture of the two guys like these young
- 44:27bucks. Yeah.
- 44:30Engineered by Billy Anderson and recorded at the Groove Room in
- 44:35San Rafael, CA. So the home of Metallica
- 44:38headquarters produced by Almond. Billy Anderson.
- 44:41You know, Billy Anderson is produced like Everybody Sleep
- 44:44and Neurosis and High On Fire and Witch Mountain and
- 44:47everything. All right, cool, cool, cool.
- 44:512004. So this is a reissue on vinyl.
- 44:54I don't know if it's been remastered for vinyl because I
- 44:56haven't listened to it yet. I hope it has been.
- 44:58And here's just a very cool Holy Mountain Records, you know,
- 45:02inspired there by sleep variations on a theme.
- 45:06Same, same thing on both sides, but with the cool Holy Mountain
- 45:11label. So very fucking cool, man. 21
- 45:16minute song on side one on the mountain at dawn.
- 45:18Amazing. So that's our show, man.
