- 0:35Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered. I thought it would be okay with Judge
- 0:40Speaker 1: and Patricia. I'd love to make fun of you, but yeah,
- 0:42Speaker 1: I can't. But so far I've been wrong. You know,
- 0:44Speaker 1: I can admit it. But so far, like the greatest
- 0:49Speaker 1: head coach in the history, I wouldn't want to hire
- 0:50Speaker 1: him tomorrow. He would not be hiring my list of
- 0:52Speaker 1: offensive coordinator candidates tomorrow. I'd hire him anything. You would
- 0:56Speaker 1: hire him to be your lawn. I get it executing
- 0:59Speaker 1: handoffs on in one on the opening drive. You know,
- 1:03Speaker 1: stuff like that that you just see. It wouldn't happen
- 1:05Speaker 1: if Nick Kle was the fundamentals on the offensive line.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Fundamentals on the offensive line. I had an account yeah
- 1:13Speaker 1: that I haven't used in forever, goes back to Prebeth,
- 1:18Speaker 1: Prebeth the Internet. Oh no, that's a good personal that's
- 1:24Speaker 1: a really good personal. It's been around since the mid nineties.
- 1:27Speaker 1: And computers. Did they have those? That's what I was thinking. Right,
- 1:30Speaker 1: she got mad because she because she didn't pay for shipping.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Did you gotta have it? Now? Right now? Do you
- 1:34Speaker 1: want to watch football on Thursdays? Prime members? This is
- 1:38Speaker 1: Patriots Unfiltered, fueled by Duncan. All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Is Thursday here at Gillette Stadium, and we're getting ready
- 1:50Speaker 1: for the Arizona Cardinals, a Monday night tilt on ESPN
- 1:56Speaker 1: so everybody can see it. No, no digital platform, A
- 2:00Speaker 1: prime subscription, yea fired locally? What what network is it here?
- 2:04Speaker 1: I don't know. Maybe we should check Patriots dot com.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Ways to watch? I believe the local affiliate. I mean
- 2:10Speaker 1: it's obviously ESPN right nationally, but I believe it's uh
- 2:14Speaker 1: twenty five, so that's Fox, Yes, okay, Fox twenty five.
- 2:18Speaker 1: I'm not positive on that. Okay, all right? How to
- 2:22Speaker 1: watch information? Yeah? Uh it's Doos, it's Paul, it's Fred,
- 2:26Speaker 1: it's Matt in the booth. Yeah. Will anyone else be
- 2:29Speaker 1: stopping by? Even? Will be practice at twelve thirty five?
- 2:32Speaker 1: So he'll head out there and uh see who's there
- 2:34Speaker 1: for the first official day of practice this week. Stefan
- 2:37Speaker 1: he didn't get anybody back maybe or anybody, I don't know.
- 2:39Speaker 1: It seems like there's sickness is going around everywhere. So
- 2:42Speaker 1: I know a lot of guys in masks on Tuesday
- 2:44Speaker 1: for that availability. So um yeah, well we'll see who's
- 2:49Speaker 1: out there, and uh, you know, I could use a boost.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Maybe I'd love to see Marcus Can out there. Not
- 2:52Speaker 1: that I think he's like gonna save the offensive line
- 2:54Speaker 1: or anything, but some depth would be nice. Yeah, So
- 2:57Speaker 1: invitably by later and then of course we've got picked later,
- 3:01Speaker 1: so it's a big show. It's a big show. Um.
- 3:04Speaker 1: You know, we talked a lot about you know, the
- 3:05Speaker 1: current state of affairs the last two days, and I
- 3:08Speaker 1: think it was good conversation. But you know, let's talk
- 3:10Speaker 1: a little bit about these Cardinals. I was listening to
- 3:14Speaker 1: some info this morning on one of Paul's shows, and
- 3:17Speaker 1: they were talking about how the Cardinals defense is really
- 3:21Speaker 1: good at not allowing chunk plays, you know, long throws,
- 3:25Speaker 1: but they're like bottom of the league in underneath offense,
- 3:30Speaker 1: letting up underneath offense, which a lot of zone I
- 3:33Speaker 1: mean a lot of zone defense. That's that's the trade off,
- 3:36Speaker 1: I guess. So at the end of the day, is
- 3:38Speaker 1: it a good defense or isn't it? Yeah? Overall, yeah,
- 3:41Speaker 1: they terrible, thirty first in the league. They have some
- 3:44Speaker 1: they have some talent, but it hasn't come together and
- 3:46Speaker 1: they haven't. I really feel prepared for this Cardinals team,
- 3:49Speaker 1: Like I just I watched all the hard knocks. I
- 3:51Speaker 1: spent all morning kind of digging into them. You know,
- 3:53Speaker 1: team you don't really know much about. I just I
- 3:55Speaker 1: feel I feel like I've gotten a good dose of
- 3:58Speaker 1: research on them, which you know, usually you just you
- 4:00Speaker 1: kind of know a lot of the teams. But um, yeah,
- 4:03Speaker 1: a lot of a lot of injuries, you know. I
- 4:05Speaker 1: think that's the thing that stands out to me, and
- 4:07Speaker 1: we've talked about, you know, they haven't really had everybody
- 4:10Speaker 1: at once on the offensive side of the ball, and
- 4:12Speaker 1: you know, that's not an excuse. I don't think Kyler
- 4:14Speaker 1: Murray has has played well. I mean, he's certainly his
- 4:16Speaker 1: stats are all, you know, pretty pretty bad, and you know, generally,
- 4:19Speaker 1: I think the sentiment is that he's regressing. But you know,
- 4:22Speaker 1: it's just like you look at their receiver groups, he's
- 4:24Speaker 1: regressing or the league just figured him out. Yeah, I mean,
- 4:27Speaker 1: I don't know if he's ever really that good. I know,
- 4:29Speaker 1: I think maybe there was a period where he kind
- 4:31Speaker 1: of hit his stride and the league hadn't maybe figured
- 4:34Speaker 1: him out yet. But you know, just what stands out
- 4:36Speaker 1: to me is just the receiver group, like it's it's
- 4:38Speaker 1: just a really good group. I mean, I know they
- 4:40Speaker 1: haven't really performed. I mean Hopkins at the top, and
- 4:42Speaker 1: they just got Hollywood Brown back, which you know, those
- 4:44Speaker 1: guys have only played one game together, and I think
- 4:46Speaker 1: that was a big part of the plan. Um. They
- 4:48Speaker 1: talked about you know, Kyler Murray played with with Hollywood
- 4:51Speaker 1: Brown in college at Oklahoma, and so you know, has
- 4:53Speaker 1: a real connection with him. He's got every game he's
- 4:55Speaker 1: played in, he's got a bunch of catches, you know,
- 4:57Speaker 1: five six catches minimum every game he plays. UM. But
- 5:00Speaker 1: you know, you go down the depth chart and then
- 5:02Speaker 1: it's like you get to you know, Robbie Anderson, who's
- 5:04Speaker 1: like their fourth with AJ Green is like kicking around.
- 5:07Speaker 1: You know, we talked about Greg Dortch, who I think
- 5:09Speaker 1: they're gonna get back Dortch or or Rondel Moore. They
- 5:12Speaker 1: Kingsberry was saying the other day he's hopeful to get
- 5:15Speaker 1: one of those guys back. But um, it's an interesting group,
- 5:18Speaker 1: and I don't think they've got some weapons. Do you
- 5:20Speaker 1: talk about the weapons here? And it's like, man, if
- 5:22Speaker 1: you stack these guys up, I mean, I'm sure there's
- 5:24Speaker 1: plenty of fans out there would be like, give me
- 5:25Speaker 1: a J Brown right now. Not that he's still the
- 5:26Speaker 1: same AJ Brown, but he's like their fifth receiver right now. Um, So,
- 5:29Speaker 1: just an interesting kind of group. They run James Conner jumpy.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I want to go back to their defense though, because
- 5:36Speaker 1: I'm more concerned about us scoring points here. How are
- 5:39Speaker 1: they against the run? I mean they're not good. I
- 5:42Speaker 1: mean overall there, Uh let me see what they pull up.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I mean they're okay, yeah, I mean really bad against
- 5:47Speaker 1: the past. You want to talk about DVA. They're twenty
- 5:49Speaker 1: ninth against the run. So I mean they have they
- 5:51Speaker 1: have some players though. I mean they have JJ Watt,
- 5:53Speaker 1: who's having a decent season for for him, you know,
- 5:55Speaker 1: a little bit of a resurgence. I think he's at
- 5:57Speaker 1: like six seven sacks, someone in that range. Um, Isaiah
- 6:00Speaker 1: Simmons has been real up and down. That's a guy
- 6:02Speaker 1: that we all really liked. Um, he was benched early
- 6:05Speaker 1: in the year. They took some snaps away from him.
- 6:07Speaker 1: He has been really inconsistent. Savan Collins another guy that
- 6:10Speaker 1: that really fit the Patriots kind of scheme at linebacker.
- 6:13Speaker 1: He's been having a good season. He's coming on um.
- 6:16Speaker 1: And then Buddha Baker in the back end who returned
- 6:18Speaker 1: after like one week on a high ankle sprain, kind
- 6:20Speaker 1: of their emotional leader. But uh, they're missing their top corner.
- 6:24Speaker 1: It doesn't look like he's gonna, you know, be able
- 6:26Speaker 1: to play shoot h Byron Murphy. Yeah, so he's probably out.
- 6:31Speaker 1: So they have some talent um, but it hasn't come
- 6:35Speaker 1: together for them. And I see a lot of what
- 6:36Speaker 1: I see in the Patriots in that they have a
- 6:39Speaker 1: lot of penalties, a lot of pre snap stuff. Um,
- 6:42Speaker 1: you know, they're just killing themselves a lot of the time.
- 6:45Speaker 1: What kind of defense do they run? Is it? It's
- 6:47Speaker 1: it's just a pretty standard Collins and Simmons are kind
- 6:50Speaker 1: of the main two linebackers. You know, you've got two
- 6:52Speaker 1: stand up guys in the edge, and then JJ Watt
- 6:55Speaker 1: and the kid from from BC, Zach Allen, who's having
- 6:58Speaker 1: a good year, he kind of manned they on a
- 7:00Speaker 1: man the inside. So, um, they're aggressive, you're gonna yeah,
- 7:04Speaker 1: they're and they're gonna blitz a lot. I mean, Bill
- 7:06Speaker 1: said earlier this week they're gonna blitz fifty percent of
- 7:08Speaker 1: the time. So um, it's uh, it's you're gonna have
- 7:11Speaker 1: to handle pressure, and I think the ball is gonna
- 7:12Speaker 1: have to come out quick, you know. I think to
- 7:14Speaker 1: your point, the zone defense, they play checkdowns, getting it
- 7:17Speaker 1: out that that's probably gonna be the key against these game.
- 7:19Speaker 1: And they're, um the worst in the league in the
- 7:22Speaker 1: red zone. Patriots obviously the worst in the league offensively
- 7:25Speaker 1: in the red zone, so that I think that's a
- 7:28Speaker 1: big part of the game. I think you'll be able
- 7:30Speaker 1: to move the ball against this this team, and whether
- 7:33Speaker 1: or not you're able to get sevens as opposed to
- 7:35Speaker 1: three is. It's funny how you you look at it
- 7:37Speaker 1: like I'm worried about the offense, like the matchup. I
- 7:40Speaker 1: look at it the opposite. I'm like, you know, with
- 7:42Speaker 1: all those weapons that you're talking about, can the defense
- 7:44Speaker 1: hold them under twenty five? Yep? Yeah, Like that's that's
- 7:47Speaker 1: what I look at because I think if you get
- 7:49Speaker 1: past that magic number. I get very concerned. Yep, yep,
- 7:53Speaker 1: I agree. I mean, I think the you know, the
- 7:55Speaker 1: mobility of Kyler Murray Um. You know, Evan wrote a
- 7:57Speaker 1: little bit and his preview as well with you know,
- 8:00Speaker 1: haven't done a ton with him this year, but it's
- 8:01Speaker 1: just you look at what the Patriots have done against
- 8:03Speaker 1: those kind of quarterbacks, and it's got to be tempting
- 8:06Speaker 1: for them at this point. With Cliff, I cannot get
- 8:09Speaker 1: Cliff Kings, I cannot get that one out double kas
- 8:13Speaker 1: with him four and eight. He might be like, all right,
- 8:17Speaker 1: we just got to throw it at the wall. Whatever
- 8:18Speaker 1: we can do, be aggressive and you know, maybe throw
- 8:20Speaker 1: caution to the wind a little bit. That's that's a
- 8:22Speaker 1: little bit concerning. But but the weapons, and you talk
- 8:24Speaker 1: about you know, not that they're gonna go five wide
- 8:26Speaker 1: on them, but but they have guys they could stress
- 8:29Speaker 1: some matchup. I'm thinking it's gonna be a good offensive game,
- 8:33Speaker 1: similar if not better than what we saw in Minnesota.
- 8:37Speaker 1: I like the fact that it's indoors. Elements aren't going
- 8:42Speaker 1: to be a factor. I like the fact that it's
- 8:44Speaker 1: in Arizona. Patriots fans always turn out in Arizona. So
- 8:48Speaker 1: there's gonna be a good contingent of Patriots fans at
- 8:51Speaker 1: this game. I don't like the Patriots chances in that
- 8:54Speaker 1: kind of a game, if you're right, Yeah, so I'll
- 8:56Speaker 1: say that, Okay, if it's an offensive game, yeah yeah,
- 8:59Speaker 1: Well how can you know if it's a mid game
- 9:01Speaker 1: like Minnesota, I don't like the Patriots chances. Well, I know,
- 9:04Speaker 1: but you clean up a few things and you win
- 9:07Speaker 1: that game. You gotta finish, you know what I mean.
- 9:09Speaker 1: They moved the ball, but they didn't finish, and I
- 9:10Speaker 1: mean that's the recurring thing. The red zone. So I mean, look,
- 9:13Speaker 1: this is like, as you said, a terrible red zone defense.
- 9:16Speaker 1: You know. I also think though, like I just think
- 9:19Speaker 1: those are all relative, and I mean you look at
- 9:21Speaker 1: the red zone percentages, and you know what really is
- 9:24Speaker 1: the red zone? Those are only plays they're inside the twenty.
- 9:26Speaker 1: But you know, I would consider getting inside the thirty
- 9:29Speaker 1: is you know, somewhat of a red zone play. So
- 9:31Speaker 1: I don't know, those percentages I think can be a
- 9:33Speaker 1: little bit skewed, and suddenly they're not with the Patriots.
- 9:36Speaker 1: I mean, just just off the top of my head,
- 9:39Speaker 1: I'll bet you if you take amount of points scored
- 9:42Speaker 1: once the Patriots get into the other team's territory. I'll
- 9:45Speaker 1: bet you it's awful, right, think of all those opportunities
- 9:48Speaker 1: they had early in the season where they took over
- 9:50Speaker 1: at midfield and they came away with nothing like negative
- 9:54Speaker 1: plays because I had five field goals from Nick Folk.
- 10:00Speaker 1: You know, there was a stat points earned whatever that
- 10:04Speaker 1: there was a stat rolling around this week Patriots were
- 10:06Speaker 1: like twenty eighth in the league and converting first downs
- 10:09Speaker 1: into either a first down or a touchdown. Yeah, So like,
- 10:12Speaker 1: no matter where they are in the field, they haven't
- 10:13Speaker 1: moved the ball. No, Patriots have been terrible on first
- 10:16Speaker 1: down this year. I mean that's you know, one of
- 10:17Speaker 1: the stats that continually pops up, and I mean, I
- 10:19Speaker 1: think it's I think it's a little bit distressing. It's
- 10:22Speaker 1: something that I think is under the radar right now.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Is just the fact that they don't have a run
- 10:25Speaker 1: game anymore. And you know, coming into the season the
- 10:28Speaker 1: last few years, you felt like you have to have
- 10:30Speaker 1: a run game with this team, and it's it's just
- 10:33Speaker 1: the lack of production there. I think is something that's
- 10:35Speaker 1: a little bit under the radar right now and could really, really,
- 10:37Speaker 1: really you know, cost them games here down the end.
- 10:39Speaker 1: If they can't find a way to get going, you've
- 10:41Speaker 1: only got Stevenson. Curious of Harris is out there, but
- 10:44Speaker 1: you know, do they trust any of these young kids?
- 10:46Speaker 1: Like I don't think Stevenson's gonna be able to carry
- 10:48Speaker 1: the load for the last five games and just do
- 10:50Speaker 1: everything at some point stronger the other. Harris has to
- 10:54Speaker 1: do something. I mean, one carry last week for Harris.
- 10:56Speaker 1: I mean, and I mean you talk about you flip
- 10:58Speaker 1: it over, you know, to the to the Cardinals, and
- 11:00Speaker 1: I mean James Conner is the same thing. They had
- 11:02Speaker 1: an issue, uh with one of their backs that they cut,
- 11:05Speaker 1: you know, Benjamin. It was weird. You know, he was there,
- 11:08Speaker 1: their second back and they just cut them seventeen carries
- 11:12Speaker 1: and they just they just let him go out of nowhere.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Young kid. A little bit of a controversy there. Yeah,
- 11:17Speaker 1: so they've didn't make it into hard knocks, No, they
- 11:20Speaker 1: completely left that out by the way. Um, but yeah,
- 11:23Speaker 1: it's uh, you know, Klim, very interesting guy. Can I
- 11:26Speaker 1: ask you a quick question. You had the DVOA uh
- 11:29Speaker 1: for run defense, but Arizona, what are the Patriots DVOAM
- 11:32Speaker 1: run defense? Uh? I don't know if I have that.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Oh wait, no, I just have all their terrible offenses
- 11:38Speaker 1: that's in front of me. I hold that for well. No,
- 11:41Speaker 1: just I mean the reason I asked, wait, sorry, oh no, wait,
- 11:43Speaker 1: that's them. Sorry, no, I'm not sure to look. Because
- 11:46Speaker 1: their numbers against the run are very similar. That's why
- 11:49Speaker 1: it was like they were kind of middle of the pack.
- 11:52Speaker 1: And then you said twenty nine. That was like the
- 11:54Speaker 1: Patriots much worse against the run than I think, because
- 11:57Speaker 1: I don't think the Patriots are bad, Like I don't
- 11:59Speaker 1: think they ad this year against the run. They haven't
- 12:02Speaker 1: been great, you know, and they've been a little inconsistent,
- 12:04Speaker 1: but I don't think they've been like a problem, not
- 12:07Speaker 1: like years past. Yeah, it hasn't been a problem. I
- 12:08Speaker 1: agree with you. I think the only thing that kind
- 12:10Speaker 1: of stands out to me, and the only thing that
- 12:12Speaker 1: I can recall from the top of my mind is
- 12:13Speaker 1: there they're still They don't make any plays in the backfield,
- 12:16Speaker 1: they don't make plays behind the line of scrimmage, tackles
- 12:18Speaker 1: for lost these things. Just I mean, they think they're
- 12:20Speaker 1: twenty a twenty nine and you know, run stuffs and
- 12:22Speaker 1: you know, getting just snuff and plays out guys get stuff,
- 12:25Speaker 1: but not much. But I'll look that up for you, Paul,
- 12:28Speaker 1: I'll find out. I mean, it's um. You know, overall
- 12:30Speaker 1: though I think they've been okay. I think they've been
- 12:33Speaker 1: okay against the run, but you know, you just hear
- 12:35Speaker 1: him so much over the last couple of months of
- 12:36Speaker 1: stopped the run, get to the past and like and
- 12:38Speaker 1: even when they've been doing that, it's not it's not good.
- 12:41Speaker 1: How about the coaching matchup. I mean, obviously Bill wins
- 12:45Speaker 1: pretty much, but you know, going below Bill on both teams, Yeah,
- 12:50Speaker 1: what do you think? Yeah, well, I mean Kingsbury's kind
- 12:52Speaker 1: of the OC himself. I mean, and I think I
- 12:55Speaker 1: think he talked about earlier in the season maybe not
- 12:56Speaker 1: calling plays anymore, and that's gone by the wayside. Us
- 13:00Speaker 1: Joseph as on the defensive side very aggressive, So I
- 13:02Speaker 1: think that's um, it's a it's a huge piece of it,
- 13:05Speaker 1: dealing with pressure this week and you know, being able
- 13:07Speaker 1: to get the ball out and I mean, I just
- 13:09Speaker 1: at the same time, though, I worry that that game
- 13:12Speaker 1: plan is going to feed into what they tried to
- 13:14Speaker 1: do last week, where right this team can't stop the
- 13:16Speaker 1: short they're gonna blitz us. Let's take all the underneath
- 13:17Speaker 1: stuff and then this is some must win for the Patriots.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Ye oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah. I think every games
- 13:23Speaker 1: a must win until they're either mathematically in or out. Yeah,
- 13:26Speaker 1: you know, I just it's hard to these two are
- 13:29Speaker 1: must wins. This road trip with the NFC teams or teams,
- 13:32Speaker 1: you don't see a lot. I don't really. I don't
- 13:33Speaker 1: feel like I get a beat on them, like like
- 13:35Speaker 1: some of the other teams are used to facing. You say,
- 13:37Speaker 1: I like this game, I don't know. I really don't.
- 13:40Speaker 1: I think it's gonna be a back and forth. Well,
- 13:42Speaker 1: I mean, what are they four and eight? Yeah, I
- 13:44Speaker 1: mean they haven't been a good team this year. Then
- 13:46Speaker 1: they've lost, yeah, three starting offensive lineman they've lost, So,
- 13:50Speaker 1: I mean they've they've had some issues there, but like
- 13:52Speaker 1: they've do seventy seven players, the most in football. They've
- 13:55Speaker 1: been completely decimated with injuries, but the talent is there.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Just go to the last I mean, they haven't had
- 14:01Speaker 1: their offense really until the last game, and now they've
- 14:03Speaker 1: had two weeks to get that's my fear to get
- 14:05Speaker 1: Hollywood Brown fully healthy from the broken fourth teams on
- 14:09Speaker 1: the Swing are playing well, at least their offensive played.
- 14:11Speaker 1: But the Raiders are playing better. And now that you know,
- 14:14Speaker 1: we're saying that the Cardinals offense, the Cardinals aren't playing better.
- 14:17Speaker 1: But with this group together, hey look they've they've played well. Yeah.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Is this when I think this is this? Is that
- 14:26Speaker 1: that line when Marie starts talking any Oh my god,
- 14:30Speaker 1: I couldn't stop that. I couldn't You're confident, into your
- 14:33Speaker 1: into your shirt. I couldn't stop laughing. Um, but you know,
- 14:37Speaker 1: you just you hear the guys on Hard Knocks talk
- 14:39Speaker 1: and you can just you can hear it. And Kylin
- 14:41Speaker 1: Murray just feeling like we just haven't had a chance
- 14:43Speaker 1: to get our offense on the field this year. Um,
- 14:46Speaker 1: and I mean clearly Hopkins is a huge piece of it.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Another clip that uh, you know, Sean Jefferson, the wide
- 14:52Speaker 1: receivers coach of the Cardinals, still wearing those pants Freddy
- 14:56Speaker 1: oh with the zoo baz No no, no, remember the
- 15:00Speaker 1: the spandex pants, the you know, the under the leggings. Yeah,
- 15:04Speaker 1: the leggings he used to wear a practice and he
- 15:05Speaker 1: used to make Fred very uncomfortable. Really, wow, that's all
- 15:08Speaker 1: he would wear, right with no support tan. Yeah, with
- 15:13Speaker 1: no like shorts over them like people. So you know,
- 15:16Speaker 1: he come running at you and a lot looking at
- 15:18Speaker 1: you there. I think you know. Hopkins missed the first
- 15:23Speaker 1: six games with suspension. Then he came back and immediately
- 15:26Speaker 1: it was like ten for like one thirty or whatever
- 15:28Speaker 1: it was. They've played four games together, Hopkins and Murray
- 15:31Speaker 1: because then since Hopkins has been back, Murray missed two
- 15:34Speaker 1: of those games. They've played four games together. I said
- 15:37Speaker 1: this yesterday. They averaged over twenty eight points a game
- 15:39Speaker 1: in those four games that they've played together. If they
- 15:42Speaker 1: get to twenty eight, I don't feel good. Yeah, why
- 15:46Speaker 1: should you? Because again and I listen, I did, I
- 15:50Speaker 1: did Andy's podcast this morning, you know with with Fitzy,
- 15:52Speaker 1: Andy and Fitzy. At some point that's gonna end, right
- 15:56Speaker 1: at some point? No good though the old four ten
- 16:02Speaker 1: I think it is when the other opponent's score is
- 16:04Speaker 1: twenty five from at some point, the page is gonna
- 16:06Speaker 1: win a game, you know, thirty one twenty seven. It's
- 16:09Speaker 1: gonna happen team at some point, But until it does,
- 16:12Speaker 1: I can't expect it to. So if you expect the
- 16:15Speaker 1: other team to be up in the mid to high twenties,
- 16:18Speaker 1: you're expecting a loss. Yeah, so that you just can't
- 16:21Speaker 1: feel good about it. No, I mean they played Hollywood
- 16:25Speaker 1: Brown in the slot last week too, So it's just
- 16:27Speaker 1: I mean, they've got speed, and you know, it's just
- 16:29Speaker 1: they've they've they've got problems that you know. I just
- 16:31Speaker 1: I don't think that the full season of the Cardinals
- 16:34Speaker 1: tells the full story. Maybe on defense it does, because
- 16:37Speaker 1: they just haven't really found a way to, you know,
- 16:39Speaker 1: make the big plays. I mean that the Chargers game
- 16:41Speaker 1: went right down to the end. They gave it a
- 16:42Speaker 1: two point conversion right at the end. Well, well, you
- 16:45Speaker 1: had a question in your round table this week, like
- 16:48Speaker 1: what's the one thing that can improve to shore up
- 16:52Speaker 1: the problems that they've had recently and what was the consensus.
- 16:56Speaker 1: I haven't put it together. Put it together. They've all
- 16:59Speaker 1: come in, but I haven't. Today's today's Thursday. Today's really
- 17:03Speaker 1: a Wednesday. Yeah, okay, it'll go tomorrow. Yeah, I know,
- 17:07Speaker 1: it's it's it's hard at this point. Hit the same question.
- 17:11Speaker 1: I thought the pass rush, Yeah, you know, that was
- 17:13Speaker 1: something that was really an asset early in the season,
- 17:17Speaker 1: and it starts it stopped being that. Yeah, and I
- 17:20Speaker 1: think you need to, you know, improve the pass rush
- 17:24Speaker 1: because with all these guys, you're not going to be
- 17:25Speaker 1: able to cover him forever. So you have to play
- 17:28Speaker 1: complimentary defense when they pass. And the one thing that
- 17:33Speaker 1: I think that we haven't seen recently is is consistent pressure. Yeah,
- 17:39Speaker 1: I mean they just don't. They don't have the horses
- 17:40Speaker 1: right now. I mean they don't have a you know,
- 17:42Speaker 1: I think I think there was too much kind of
- 17:43Speaker 1: on bar Moore and Daniel. Quality hasn't been great. I
- 17:46Speaker 1: mean everybody. There's a lot of josh uj parade's going
- 17:48Speaker 1: around right now, which you know, I'm like, but it's
- 17:50Speaker 1: sporadic production. Guy coming in in the eighth, you're you're
- 17:55Speaker 1: down by five, and he hits a home run, Well
- 17:57Speaker 1: that's great, but we're still down by four. And if
- 17:59Speaker 1: he does, like if josh Ucha does what he did
- 18:02Speaker 1: the other night and makes a big play, you know,
- 18:04Speaker 1: every game has a situational pass that's good. Like that's like,
- 18:09Speaker 1: I'm not no, but I'm not just from him, No,
- 18:11Speaker 1: I'm just talking about him specifically. The Joshua thing. I'm
- 18:14Speaker 1: not looking for sixteen sacks from josh Uchaya, but if
- 18:17Speaker 1: he can come in you know, twenty twenty five snaps
- 18:19Speaker 1: a game and show up on a play or two,
- 18:22Speaker 1: like that's what you're looking for. Yeah, I haven't seen
- 18:24Speaker 1: that enough from him. I saw it the other night.
- 18:25Speaker 1: That was a big play. But I need to see
- 18:28Speaker 1: a little bit more before I'm like against you know,
- 18:30Speaker 1: like everybody else like dominant right, Well, this is I mean,
- 18:33Speaker 1: you know they're on a backup left tackle, so that's
- 18:35Speaker 1: his jam. So you know, the problem was compromised. The
- 18:38Speaker 1: problem with that play last week is it gets diminished
- 18:41Speaker 1: because they didn't turn into anything. Yeah. You know in
- 18:43Speaker 1: the past, you get that turnover before the half and
- 18:47Speaker 1: set up and good and you would get points. Yeah,
- 18:50Speaker 1: you know, I know that's that That that that bugged me.
- 18:52Speaker 1: I mean that's just you know, it's complimentary football, as
- 18:54Speaker 1: you say, the side's giving each other hope. You know,
- 18:56Speaker 1: it's like you make the big defense makes the big play.
- 18:59Speaker 1: What do they come away each other hope? As Fred
- 19:03Speaker 1: ker mantras, that's what he used to teach or you know,
- 19:08Speaker 1: believe in. Yeah, but it's uh. I enjoy watching hard
- 19:13Speaker 1: knocks though, I mean a little behind the scenes kind
- 19:15Speaker 1: of stuff. I just you get you you just get
- 19:16Speaker 1: a feel for the team like like no other kind
- 19:19Speaker 1: of thing, especially when it's in season and you know
- 19:21Speaker 1: exactly what they think their issues are. And um, you
- 19:25Speaker 1: know I I I love Cliff Kingsbury's I got I
- 19:28Speaker 1: got at that time he got it out. I love
- 19:30Speaker 1: his voice. Now it's a natural. The track is natural
- 19:36Speaker 1: grass I believe you've been there. Yeah, right, They they
- 19:38Speaker 1: comes in and out. Yeah, they have a big out,
- 19:42Speaker 1: the big trays, get some sun, go out soft. If
- 19:47Speaker 1: it depends on the way if it goes out is
- 19:49Speaker 1: you know, it depends on the weather. If they water
- 19:52Speaker 1: it nice and it goes in moist, yeah, yeah, so
- 19:55Speaker 1: it goes in easier. Yeah, yeah, you know. And yeah,
- 20:00Speaker 1: so anyway, so what if what if Cliff Kingsbury, you know,
- 20:07Speaker 1: they're coming off their bye week, so it's kind of
- 20:10Speaker 1: even there. Both sides had plenty of time in between
- 20:13Speaker 1: their last games. Maybe he looked back and to you
- 20:17Speaker 1: a point, Mike, he said, well, you know, I watched
- 20:20Speaker 1: this team play Baltimore and Lamar Jackson was a problem.
- 20:23Speaker 1: And I watched them play Chicago and Justin Fields was
- 20:26Speaker 1: a problem. And he says, I know, we don't want
- 20:28Speaker 1: to run Kyler Murray a lot, but you know, we're
- 20:30Speaker 1: four and eight here. We got to find a way
- 20:32Speaker 1: to get some wins, you know, Yeah, and back against
- 20:35Speaker 1: the tyler. You know, I know we don't want to
- 20:38Speaker 1: do it all the time, but in this game, you know,
- 20:40Speaker 1: Fred made the point. You're on national television a Monday
- 20:43Speaker 1: night football, Cliff Kingsbury might want to put his best
- 20:46Speaker 1: foot forward here and say, you know what we got,
- 20:49Speaker 1: we gotta do some design runs with the quarterback because
- 20:51Speaker 1: that's going to give us a better chance against this team.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Chicago wasn't doing a lot of design runs with Justin
- 20:56Speaker 1: Fields until that night either. And now all of a sudden,
- 20:59Speaker 1: he's been unleashed. And another thing to that point, Paul,
- 21:01Speaker 1: and tying it back to the injuries, is that he's
- 21:03Speaker 1: been back on this hamstring injury for a while. So
- 21:05Speaker 1: I wonder if that's kind of fed into let's not
- 21:07Speaker 1: run this guy when he's dealing with a hamstring injury.
- 21:09Speaker 1: That seems like and I'm sure that that that durability
- 21:12Speaker 1: issues was part of the reason why they haven't dialed
- 21:14Speaker 1: up a lot of runs because he's a small kid,
- 21:16Speaker 1: I mean, and he runs with the ball in one
- 21:18Speaker 1: you ever see him. He does fumble a lot. That's
- 21:22Speaker 1: probably another reason I think he has six fumbles. I
- 21:24Speaker 1: can't believe they haven't said you got to tuck that
- 21:26Speaker 1: ball away. Well says he runs with his I know,
- 21:29Speaker 1: it's like he can't run with his arms close. He
- 21:32Speaker 1: has to have him out there for the balance. Yeah. Yeah,
- 21:36Speaker 1: he's an interesting dude. He's an interesting dude. But I
- 21:38Speaker 1: think his biggest problem is off field. Like, I don't
- 21:41Speaker 1: think like that stuff when he was going through his
- 21:44Speaker 1: contract extension about watching film, you know, you know, doing
- 21:48Speaker 1: the things they need to do. I don't think that
- 21:50Speaker 1: his teammates have necessarily embraced him. I don't think he
- 21:52Speaker 1: you know, he doesn't come off as a great leader
- 21:54Speaker 1: from Afar. Again, I don't know. I don't know. Well,
- 21:56Speaker 1: there's some Patrick Peterson comments to this year about you know,
- 22:00Speaker 1: he was taken aback by I guess he would so
- 22:02Speaker 1: I would say there's two things, two ways that can go.
- 22:05Speaker 1: He had. I mean, they have some dysfunction going on.
- 22:06Speaker 1: He's been at odds with Kingsbury. I think he was
- 22:09Speaker 1: sort of bickering with Hopkins last game. Uh, you know,
- 22:12Speaker 1: so like there's two ways that can go, you had
- 22:14Speaker 1: a bye week, Did it fester and it's just gonna
- 22:16Speaker 1: be bottoming out Monday night? Or did they have a
- 22:20Speaker 1: come to Jesus meeting and figure this out and say
- 22:23Speaker 1: all right, let's let's let's go. All get on the
- 22:25Speaker 1: same page and let's go. Because I just I can't
- 22:28Speaker 1: get past Hopkins, Brown, more aj Green. You know, Za
- 22:35Speaker 1: Zackertz is out. But uh, you know, with James Connor
- 22:38Speaker 1: and Kyler Murray, that's a that's a team that should
- 22:41Speaker 1: be able to put thirty up on you. And you
- 22:44Speaker 1: know at times they've been able to do that at times.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Now you know, it's it's twenty nine, it's twenty six,
- 22:50Speaker 1: it's it's forty two. You know, Uh, you know they've
- 22:53Speaker 1: been able to score in some games. You know, to
- 22:56Speaker 1: to put forty two on New Orleans, that's a pretty
- 23:00Speaker 1: good defense. Now. I don't maybe the Saints we're missing
- 23:02Speaker 1: a bunch of guys that game. I forgive me. I
- 23:04Speaker 1: don't know the ins and outs of everybody's depth chart
- 23:07Speaker 1: for every game, but there were there are times when
- 23:11Speaker 1: offensively they've looked okay. Um, And like I said recently,
- 23:14Speaker 1: it's twenty six, twenty one, twenty seven, twenty four and
- 23:18Speaker 1: one of the games that they had ten was with
- 23:20Speaker 1: Colt McCoy. Yeah, against the Niners, best best defense in
- 23:25Speaker 1: the league, with their backup quarterback. Yeah, speaking of backup quarterbacks,
- 23:29Speaker 1: I don't amount to digress, but Baker Mayfield chance he
- 23:32Speaker 1: might play tonight for the Rams, as I do, like,
- 23:37Speaker 1: I find it absurd they even brought him in. Well,
- 23:39Speaker 1: I mean seas I understand why they brought him in. Why, Well,
- 23:43Speaker 1: because I think you have obviously you're gonna be missing
- 23:45Speaker 1: Stafford and they're clearly not sold on their current backup situation.
- 23:49Speaker 1: But they're not competing for a playoff spot, I know.
- 23:52Speaker 1: But you find out if there's anything there to bring
- 23:55Speaker 1: him back, so you have so you have a backup
- 23:59Speaker 1: to Stafford next year. Yes, he's gonna come want to
- 24:01Speaker 1: come back as a backup. I don't really think when
- 24:03Speaker 1: you get released you have a lot of choices. No,
- 24:05Speaker 1: I know, but like like a lot of people were
- 24:08Speaker 1: stunted that he got claimed, period. Yeah, a lot of
- 24:11Speaker 1: people were on record saying I don't believe that he'll
- 24:13Speaker 1: get claimed. So they were the only teams. So you
- 24:16Speaker 1: think that Mayfield might be resigned to the fact that
- 24:18Speaker 1: I'm not going to start in this league. I mean,
- 24:22Speaker 1: is he resigned to it or is that the fact? Well? No,
- 24:25Speaker 1: is he resigned to I don't think he's resigned to it.
- 24:28Speaker 1: But I think he's got to find an opportunity he's got.
- 24:29Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know in his mind, he probably
- 24:31Speaker 1: thinks like, I need this kind of offense or this
- 24:33Speaker 1: kind of coach, or I need something that was what
- 24:35Speaker 1: I'm getting at, you know. And so hey, Sean McVay,
- 24:38Speaker 1: this is an offense that I think, you know. And
- 24:40Speaker 1: what if Sean McVay says, hey, listen, you know Stafford's
- 24:43Speaker 1: coming up. This is a really serious thing that Stafford's
- 24:45Speaker 1: dealing with. You know what if he comes to them
- 24:49Speaker 1: in March and says, hey, look huge, I'm done. Yep.
- 24:52Speaker 1: I was gonna say something. I know. I was waiting.
- 24:54Speaker 1: I was waiting for a friend. Friend, like, I'm not
- 24:58Speaker 1: going to get in an argument with you, but like
- 25:00Speaker 1: you have like a spinal contusion. Yeah, that's not like right,
- 25:03Speaker 1: that can happen when you're twenty four two. Okay, man,
- 25:07Speaker 1: I mean he got a he got a Super Bowl too,
- 25:09Speaker 1: like you know how, I mean, he's had a lot
- 25:10Speaker 1: of injuries over the course of his career how much.
- 25:13Speaker 1: But I you know, I can see why Baker Mayfield
- 25:15Speaker 1: will want to go there just based on the oh
- 25:17Speaker 1: I can see he had no choice. Yeah, I could
- 25:20Speaker 1: see what's the downside for Baker Mayfield. I understand why
- 25:24Speaker 1: Sean McVay would roll the dice because I don't think
- 25:27Speaker 1: that Matthew Staffords is a sure thing right now. And
- 25:29Speaker 1: you know, I like Matthew Stafford. Fred's gonna make fun
- 25:32Speaker 1: of me. But I think if you get him in
- 25:36Speaker 1: you can find out exactly what you have with with
- 25:42Speaker 1: Baker Mayfield in the last five weeks. Like this is
- 25:44Speaker 1: a guy I think could really thrive in my offense.
- 25:47Speaker 1: This is a guy that he's not a fit. I
- 25:49Speaker 1: guess if you're saying that Stafford's not a sure thing,
- 25:51Speaker 1: then okay, yeah, but I mean, how can you say
- 25:54Speaker 1: Stafford's a sure thing? I didn't know the injury was
- 25:57Speaker 1: that like he was out for possibly out for twenty
- 26:00Speaker 1: twenty three. Oh no, no, he's not going to be
- 26:02Speaker 1: out for twenty twenty three. He may decide I'm not
- 26:05Speaker 1: playing anymore. Okay, Well, either way, like a sure thing,
- 26:08Speaker 1: like I'm just like I'm not saying that there's any
- 26:12Speaker 1: reports that say that Matthew Stafford might not play next year.
- 26:15Speaker 1: I'm saying the guys in his late thirties and has
- 26:17Speaker 1: a spinal contusion. I think he might say, you know what,
- 26:20Speaker 1: I got lucky, I'm getting out. So he's not a
- 26:22Speaker 1: sure thing. So in mcvay's mine, he's not sure. He's
- 26:28Speaker 1: making me a report. I'm not reporting. Its mine. He's
- 26:31Speaker 1: not sure one way or the other. I might have
- 26:35Speaker 1: for whatever reason, and I may not have a quarterback
- 26:37Speaker 1: next but he also might look at it this. Yeah,
- 26:39Speaker 1: Stafford's back, but I can't rely on to play seventeen games.
- 26:42Speaker 1: I need a viable backup. And if this guy is
- 26:45Speaker 1: a fit for my offense, I can sell him on. Hey,
- 26:48Speaker 1: look Stafford is what is Stafford like? Thirty seven Brown there? Yeah,
- 26:52Speaker 1: you know, you know he's not just not getting any younger.
- 26:55Speaker 1: He's my guy. But you'll come in, you'll have an
- 26:57Speaker 1: opportunity to compete. Okay, we went to side until warmups.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Was just on the ESPN crawl there. But I mean,
- 27:04Speaker 1: I think you can't imagine that you you you signed
- 27:06Speaker 1: a guy on Tuesday and you play them on a
- 27:08Speaker 1: third right, right, and put the quarterback. But that's fine
- 27:11Speaker 1: for like a running back or something. But it's crazy.
- 27:13Speaker 1: I mean, there're three and nine. Maybe they're getting that point.
- 27:15Speaker 1: We haven't seen the Patriots get too yet where it's like, hey,
- 27:18Speaker 1: we're three and nine. Let's just I mean everything Paul
- 27:21Speaker 1: said is true, but I mean just across the roster now,
- 27:23Speaker 1: it's kind of the time. You're three and nine. We
- 27:25Speaker 1: got to figure out what we got for next year?
- 27:26Speaker 1: Who are the guys that we can count on against
- 27:28Speaker 1: the wall would say promise you know, Um, I hope
- 27:31Speaker 1: we don't see those days here, but I that might
- 27:33Speaker 1: be where they're at. Yeah, So I just thought that
- 27:35Speaker 1: was interesting. Five five past five hundred is the ACE
- 27:38Speaker 1: ticket outline, web radio at Patriots dot com is the
- 27:41Speaker 1: email address. Let's get to some of our callers and
- 27:45Speaker 1: emails because we do have a busy show. So we'll
- 27:48Speaker 1: start with Sean and Vancouver. What's up, Sean? If I
- 27:52Speaker 1: got a couple of things. Now, I don't have access
- 27:55Speaker 1: to football outsiders, so I don't know Dboa, but I
- 27:58Speaker 1: was looking up the stats for defensive like yards per carry,
- 28:04Speaker 1: and the Patriots are around tenth at four point one
- 28:09Speaker 1: and Arizona is about twenty third about with four point six,
- 28:14Speaker 1: but with touchdowns, Patriots are tied for first at five
- 28:17Speaker 1: and Arizona is around twenty with thirteen. So against the run,
- 28:22Speaker 1: I think the Patriots are better. But my question is
- 28:26Speaker 1: on the offense, Uh, Arizona is not good against tight ends.
- 28:30Speaker 1: So we know, like you said, they're going to come after,
- 28:33Speaker 1: the Patriots are going to be aggressive against mac. So
- 28:37Speaker 1: do you think they do more screens and like try
- 28:41Speaker 1: and get Johno involved maybe and Hunter Henry again in
- 28:45Speaker 1: the end Zona, see if you can get some touchdowns,
- 28:47Speaker 1: if you can get down there, it'd be great. Um,
- 28:49Speaker 1: I don't I'm out of these Yeah, I don't know.
- 28:51Speaker 1: I feel like we keep getting these like questions everywhere,
- 28:54Speaker 1: like who do they get in if Deuce is right
- 28:56Speaker 1: and they're gonna blitz at least fifty percent of the
- 28:58Speaker 1: time or not blitz somehow some type of manufactured pressure
- 29:02Speaker 1: fifty percent of the time. I mean, you're gonna have
- 29:05Speaker 1: to have some type of blitzpeeder, you know, ready to
- 29:08Speaker 1: go in his pocket. Yeah, So whether that's screen or
- 29:11Speaker 1: draws or whatever. Yeah, I just didn't need it. Yeah,
- 29:14Speaker 1: I mean, I just don't know. How many screens you
- 29:16Speaker 1: can do in a game. I mean, simmently, it just
- 29:17Speaker 1: comes down to you guys got to protect. They gotta
- 29:19Speaker 1: pick up stunts and Mac has to recognize what's going
- 29:22Speaker 1: on and get the ball out quick, which I mean
- 29:24Speaker 1: I do think he has some potential for that. This,
- 29:26Speaker 1: as we said, seems like it's lining up no weather
- 29:29Speaker 1: zone kind of defense. But yeah, the pressure could be
- 29:31Speaker 1: a real problem with the offensive line doesn't come to play,
- 29:34Speaker 1: especially you know, uncertainty at right tackle. And you know,
- 29:37Speaker 1: this guy that was talking this morning was talking about
- 29:39Speaker 1: like how you know, like Mac gets the ball out
- 29:45Speaker 1: quicker than Murray or whatever. And he's said he was saying,
- 29:48Speaker 1: you know, the Patriots offensive line was really good, which
- 29:51Speaker 1: which shows and you know the number of sacks that
- 29:53Speaker 1: they gave up. It's like, well, you just said that
- 29:55Speaker 1: he's getting rid of the ball. You know, probably offensive
- 29:58Speaker 1: line wasn't right, probably sooner than and he wants to Yeah,
- 30:01Speaker 1: that's not that doesn't mean the offensive line is good. Yeah,
- 30:04Speaker 1: you know, it's hard to take like a certain stat
- 30:06Speaker 1: I'm gonna extrapolate it to like, well they didn't do this,
- 30:09Speaker 1: so that means this that's why. So you just look
- 30:11Speaker 1: at the stats and say, oh, no sacks last week?
- 30:13Speaker 1: Well all right, you know, and you also like you
- 30:17Speaker 1: just need to watch the game exactly like, yeah, there
- 30:20Speaker 1: was like immediate pressure on a vast majority or that.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Actually I think it was something like, yeah, it was
- 30:26Speaker 1: thirty nine in change pressure rate last week. The offensive
- 30:29Speaker 1: line wasn't good. Now, I get you know. Connor McDermott
- 30:33Speaker 1: just came came in off the Jets practice squad and
- 30:35Speaker 1: played like, yeah, you know it's tough. Yeah. Uh, Patty's
- 30:40Speaker 1: an agawam. What's up? Patty? Hey? Everyone? Bay Um, I
- 30:46Speaker 1: got a few things I want to get into. All
- 30:47Speaker 1: make it quick because I know you got picked today, Paulie.
- 30:50Speaker 1: You brought up a bunch of good reasons why I
- 30:53Speaker 1: don't think they're they're gonna win this game, most notably
- 30:56Speaker 1: just the way they've struggled against the guys that can
- 30:59Speaker 1: run at quarterback position this year. Um, I don't know
- 31:02Speaker 1: what the hell happened between twenty twenty and these last
- 31:06Speaker 1: two years, but you know, we played these guys two
- 31:08Speaker 1: years ago and Lamar Jackson two years ago beat them,
- 31:12Speaker 1: and it just seems like the last two years they
- 31:13Speaker 1: haven't been able to get a good beat on getting
- 31:16Speaker 1: pressure and just keeping these guys contained. So and I
- 31:20Speaker 1: just don't you know, if they score twenty eight points,
- 31:22Speaker 1: it's lighted out. Forget it. Yeah, And I just have
- 31:25Speaker 1: I kind of have a quick crazy question too, and
- 31:29Speaker 1: that is number one. I'm glad that they select next
- 31:33Speaker 1: week's game out. But let's say Week eighteen against the Bills,
- 31:40Speaker 1: that's that's a win in their end game and Buffalo's
- 31:44Speaker 1: tied everything up. They got home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Do you think if you're Buffalo, do you let the
- 31:51Speaker 1: Patriots just do you just take the foot off the pedal,
- 31:53Speaker 1: or do you just trying to beat them and say, no, sorry,
- 31:56Speaker 1: you're not making the playoffs this year. I'd let them in. Well,
- 32:01Speaker 1: I mean it's probably a decent chance that that would
- 32:04Speaker 1: be who they're gonna play, right, I mean, seven verses two,
- 32:06Speaker 1: this is probably just for the seventh seed again anymore,
- 32:08Speaker 1: he's saying they got it locked up, number one, number one,
- 32:11Speaker 1: So you wouldn't play that. I But I mean, for me,
- 32:14Speaker 1: it's you sit Josh Allen or not. That's the question,
- 32:16Speaker 1: because otherwise I don't think that there's anything that the
- 32:18Speaker 1: bills are necessarily gonna do. That's gonna signal that they're
- 32:20Speaker 1: just gonna take the foot off the gas. I mean,
- 32:23Speaker 1: if he's playing, they're probably playing. And I also think
- 32:25Speaker 1: teams that have the bye generally play. Some guys like
- 32:30Speaker 1: I think I think Josh Josh Allen's situation is is
- 32:33Speaker 1: definitely uh factors in like with the elbow and all that. Um,
- 32:38Speaker 1: But if they don't play in week eighteen, then they
- 32:42Speaker 1: don't play the next week. A lot of teams don't
- 32:44Speaker 1: like to do that, to have like three weeks in
- 32:46Speaker 1: between games. Yeah. Um, you know, some teams have done it.
- 32:49Speaker 1: The Patriots have done it a little bit in the past.
- 32:51Speaker 1: When they've had a bye. They've played like the first half,
- 32:53Speaker 1: you know, some of those uh let Letterman games, Fred,
- 32:57Speaker 1: you know, like everybody gets the letter of the second half.
- 33:02Speaker 1: The thing about Buffalo is they're talented enough that I mean,
- 33:06Speaker 1: not everybody can sit right, That's right, That's my whole point.
- 33:09Speaker 1: That's the talent talented enough to beat you anyway. Yeah,
- 33:14Speaker 1: but I just wonder what Buffalo's mentality would be, like
- 33:16Speaker 1: do we want to keep them in or out? Because
- 33:19Speaker 1: I think you can make an argument if you're Buffalo.
- 33:21Speaker 1: The way they've played against the Patriots, I'll take them
- 33:24Speaker 1: as one of the other seven right over, like Vegas
- 33:27Speaker 1: over any who knows, or I mean there's really four teams.
- 33:30Speaker 1: It's Vegas, Jets, Patriots. I mean the Jets have given
- 33:32Speaker 1: them fits. But there is something to be said about
- 33:35Speaker 1: we never want to let the Patriots have anything, you know,
- 33:38Speaker 1: we want to dominate them. We want to keep this
- 33:40Speaker 1: streak of wins going. Yeah, you know, yeah, yeah they could,
- 33:44Speaker 1: but I would understand if they if they looked at
- 33:46Speaker 1: it from afar and said, would I rather played the
- 33:48Speaker 1: If I had to play in the playoffs at some point,
- 33:50Speaker 1: would have either play the Jets or the Patriots. I'd
- 33:51Speaker 1: rather play the Patriots had much more success against them.
- 33:54Speaker 1: I think the Patriots are more talented than the Jets. Well,
- 33:57Speaker 1: Jets issues, yeah, I think because a good little discussion
- 34:01Speaker 1: during picks of this game of the Jets Bills this week,
- 34:03Speaker 1: you know, another kind of rematch, like I feel like
- 34:05Speaker 1: the Bills are gonna Oh, I don't think take him
- 34:07Speaker 1: to the woodshot? Yeah that on Sunday. I think they're
- 34:10Speaker 1: tired of people like me saying the Jets have given
- 34:12Speaker 1: the bills problems, um Anthony and Hertfordshire, England or shy
- 34:19Speaker 1: right whatever. I'm sure I don't have ever care to
- 34:21Speaker 1: correct me. I just wanted to say how much I
- 34:23Speaker 1: enjoyed Tuesday's show. It was really interesting to hear everyone's
- 34:26Speaker 1: take on the current situation and the possible moves which
- 34:30Speaker 1: we made after the season. I have one question, do
- 34:33Speaker 1: you does the crew think Bill will pass Don Shula's
- 34:36Speaker 1: record for most wins as a coach and as so
- 34:38Speaker 1: will he do it as the head coach of the Patriots.
- 34:41Speaker 1: I don't think so. You don't think so. I do. Wow,
- 34:47Speaker 1: So he needs about what twenty one so that could
- 34:51Speaker 1: be anywhere from two to three years? Yeah? Or four? Yeah?
- 34:58Speaker 1: Come on, I mean I thought three was a stretch. Yeah.
- 35:03Speaker 1: I mean, how many middling seasons are the crafts willing
- 35:06Speaker 1: to accept, you know, unless they find talent. I mean,
- 35:10Speaker 1: they got to find talent, and that's anything. So you're
- 35:13Speaker 1: saying if he doesn't do it in two seasons, he's
- 35:15Speaker 1: not going to do it as a Patriots coach. I
- 35:18Speaker 1: mean I think next next season might be the turning
- 35:21Speaker 1: point where either the team seems like it finds some
- 35:24Speaker 1: players who can play and at a plus level and
- 35:27Speaker 1: win games. Let's say he gets three more wins this season, right,
- 35:31Speaker 1: so that that means he's he's eighteen more, right, nine
- 35:34Speaker 1: and nine? Nine and nine. I mean, that's feasible. That's
- 35:37Speaker 1: why I said, yeah, two to three more seasons. Two
- 35:41Speaker 1: was nine and nine. I mean I feel kind of
- 35:43Speaker 1: like I feel about the Patriots season like this year,
- 35:45Speaker 1: like could it happen? Yeah, but I think you'd need
- 35:48Speaker 1: to see some major major changes as far as the
- 35:50Speaker 1: team is over the next year, and it needs to
- 35:53Speaker 1: and it needs to happen very very soon, because I
- 35:58Speaker 1: don't know. I mean think this is a five hundred
- 36:01Speaker 1: team the next couple of years based on how it's
- 36:04Speaker 1: been going. I hope not. Well, maybe we'll see what
- 36:08Speaker 1: they you know, it's hard to say what they're going
- 36:09Speaker 1: to be the next couple of years without knowing what
- 36:11Speaker 1: the roster's gonna look like. But I think it's a
- 36:14Speaker 1: five hundred team the last two years. And that's I
- 36:18Speaker 1: mean like that, that's what their talent to me showed. Well.
- 36:21Speaker 1: You know, they were able to go ten and seven
- 36:23Speaker 1: last year. It looks like they're probably going to go
- 36:25Speaker 1: I don't know, eight nine, nine and eight. Maybe if
- 36:27Speaker 1: you everything falls right, that's and that's why I feel
- 36:31Speaker 1: like this year, I mean, building off the last year,
- 36:33Speaker 1: I might have said yes, but this year it feels
- 36:34Speaker 1: like things have regressed. Things are not heading in the
- 36:36Speaker 1: right direction. Do I think that a continuation of what
- 36:39Speaker 1: this offense is into twenty twenty three is going to
- 36:41Speaker 1: get them to eight wins next year? I don't know.
- 36:43Speaker 1: You're gonna have some some significances to deal with. It's
- 36:46Speaker 1: hard to We don't know what the hell's going on
- 36:48Speaker 1: with Kendrick Bourne. Jacobe Myers is a free agent. You know,
- 36:52Speaker 1: there's already you know some just Evan mentioned speculation of
- 36:55Speaker 1: you know, Hunter Henry having an out in his contract.
- 36:57Speaker 1: So you know, hey, let's run back the offense, but
- 37:00Speaker 1: let's also get rid of Max's three favorite guys that
- 37:03Speaker 1: he's been throwing to, you know, like like you got
- 37:06Speaker 1: to make some effort to figure out what you're doing
- 37:08Speaker 1: and what they're going to do with the old line. Richard,
- 37:10Speaker 1: New York City a big fan of the show. I
- 37:12Speaker 1: grew up about fifteen minutes away from the stadium when
- 37:16Speaker 1: it was Sullivan then Foxborough Stadium before it became Gillette
- 37:19Speaker 1: and the Patriots became a dynasty with Craft buying the
- 37:22Speaker 1: team at Parcel's coming in the prior year to coach.
- 37:26Speaker 1: What are your thoughts on Craft making a big change
- 37:29Speaker 1: so this team does not revert back to the Victor
- 37:31Speaker 1: Kaiam Dick McPherson type of era. Well, I mean, he
- 37:37Speaker 1: makes a big change. What makes you convinced that it
- 37:39Speaker 1: wouldn't be a yeah, you know, I mean change for
- 37:41Speaker 1: change sake isn't always good and guarantee that let's get
- 37:44Speaker 1: rid of Bill. I mean, you're you're You're throwing it
- 37:46Speaker 1: up into the win and I'm not gonna like listen,
- 37:48Speaker 1: I think the emailers exaggerating to make a fact. You
- 37:51Speaker 1: know who does that more than me? I mean I
- 37:54Speaker 1: do that too. But don't forget just how bad it
- 37:57Speaker 1: was with the Victor Kai am different fear. I don't
- 38:01Speaker 1: think we'll ever see those days as long as Robert
- 38:03Speaker 1: Craft is in charge. Yeah, no, I don't either. But
- 38:05Speaker 1: you know, I think the thing that was interesting to
- 38:06Speaker 1: me the Cardinals whatever four and eight, is that what
- 38:09Speaker 1: they are is right, just the similarities. Listening to them
- 38:13Speaker 1: kind of talk in the locker room, of the conversations
- 38:16Speaker 1: that they have it sounds exactly like what we say.
- 38:19Speaker 1: And and they they're a talented team. I mean, I
- 38:21Speaker 1: think if you stack the talent, you probably picked the
- 38:23Speaker 1: Cardinals in terms of you know, I mean, Hopkins alone
- 38:26Speaker 1: is probably better than anybody the Patriots have. Um. But
- 38:29Speaker 1: you you rattled off the receivers, you get down of
- 38:31Speaker 1: the fifth receiver, you'd probably take them over anybody the
- 38:33Speaker 1: Patriots have. That's my whole point. Like, you know, the
- 38:35Speaker 1: guy that people coveted in the office, how many how
- 38:38Speaker 1: many questions do we get about Robbie and Erson. That's
- 38:39Speaker 1: what I'm saying. That's a guy people want. It's playing
- 38:41Speaker 1: like ten snaps the game. Um. But the things that
- 38:45Speaker 1: you hear, it's just these are these are teams that
- 38:47Speaker 1: can't get out of their own way, and it's always
- 38:50Speaker 1: one thing or another. You know, if it's all right,
- 38:52Speaker 1: it's great. Patriots haven't turned the ball over, Paul. I mean,
- 38:55Speaker 1: it was excellent how we laid it out yesterday. They
- 38:57Speaker 1: haven't turned the ball over in the three weeks. They've
- 38:58Speaker 1: the shorten things up, but they're not scoring. And you know,
- 39:00Speaker 1: it's it's it's whackamle with these teams. And certainly injuries
- 39:03Speaker 1: are a big pactor and for both teams. I mean,
- 39:06Speaker 1: the Patriots are, you know, starting a guy that was
- 39:08Speaker 1: on the Jets two weeks ago at right tackle. But
- 39:10Speaker 1: you know, you just you see teams that can't quite
- 39:13Speaker 1: get in line, and it's it's and I don't want
- 39:15Speaker 1: to say it's not related to talent, but just losing
- 39:17Speaker 1: teams or middling teams. They all kind of have the
- 39:20Speaker 1: same characteristics. And I think that even though the Patriots
- 39:23Speaker 1: are technically a five hundred team and the colt and
- 39:25Speaker 1: the Cardinals are losing team right now, I just there
- 39:28Speaker 1: are a lot of things. You're like, Man, this sounds
- 39:29Speaker 1: really familiar to me right now what they're saying to
- 39:31Speaker 1: their team as to what we're talking about with the Patriots.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Eight five, five past five hundred. Let's go to William
- 39:38Speaker 1: and Philham. What's up, William? What's going on for it?
- 39:42Speaker 1: How you knowing? Good? Okay? Um, I don't have the
- 39:47Speaker 1: Patriots making the playoffs they see this season. Not when
- 39:51Speaker 1: you gotta face receivers like Digs Chase Us Tarrico, and
- 39:58Speaker 1: I know I had them at eight nine. I had
- 40:02Speaker 1: him at eight nine before the season, and I see
- 40:04Speaker 1: a real good path to that number. You know you do. Yeah,
- 40:08Speaker 1: I see maybe winning the next two, but losing the
- 40:11Speaker 1: last three. Yep, you know, I don't know about the
- 40:15Speaker 1: next that's about right, right, yeah, okay, Um, here's my
- 40:21Speaker 1: question I want to ask you. Do you see could
- 40:25Speaker 1: you see some of Mac Jones asking Bill the season
- 40:28Speaker 1: is done, ask for three? I saw this yesterday? Oh
- 40:34Speaker 1: or Loki, I said it. If that's the case. If
- 40:38Speaker 1: that's the case, then it's a lot worse than even
- 40:40Speaker 1: we think it is right now, exactly, yeah, right, yeah, right.
- 40:45Speaker 1: I would have to be yeah, yep, right, absolutely, yeah,
- 40:49Speaker 1: absolutely would be impressed. Would that be imprecedent? All right? Thanks?
- 40:52Speaker 1: I mean Mac is fine, like you had a good year,
- 40:54Speaker 1: But I mean, after two years, the first round pick
- 40:56Speaker 1: quarterback saying I want out, this isn't working for me.
- 41:00Speaker 1: It's just that would that would be a big blow
- 41:02Speaker 1: to the organization. But here's what I would it would
- 41:05Speaker 1: Here's what I have to say about that. Okay, no,
- 41:08Speaker 1: but in all seriousness, it probably would be largely unprecedented.
- 41:12Speaker 1: I don't I'm not like, yeah, nothing's coming to mind
- 41:15Speaker 1: for anybody doing that that quickly. But I also sort
- 41:19Speaker 1: of look at this a little bit differently, and like
- 41:22Speaker 1: the current landscape right now of athletics and what's going on,
- 41:26Speaker 1: say in college, and I'll talk to you like in
- 41:30Speaker 1: all sports, in like basketball, these kids they go into
- 41:34Speaker 1: a program, they don't like what's going on, they go
- 41:36Speaker 1: to another program. They don't like what's going on it,
- 41:37Speaker 1: they go to another program, they go to high school.
- 41:40Speaker 1: I know kids that transferred high schools three times, four years,
- 41:43Speaker 1: three different high schools. Wow, you go to colleges, you
- 41:46Speaker 1: get to college and it's oh, I didn't got I'm
- 41:49Speaker 1: a true freshman. I walked in and you didn't just
- 41:51Speaker 1: hand me the keys to the ship. I'm out of here.
- 41:53Speaker 1: I'm going in the transport portal because it's just too
- 41:56Speaker 1: easy now to change. And I think that's environment that
- 42:00Speaker 1: these young players advanced in. Yeah, you know Baker, Baker Mayfield,
- 42:07Speaker 1: you know, moved around from Texas Tech to Oklahoma, likes
- 42:11Speaker 1: number one overall. Pick Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow did the
- 42:16Speaker 1: same thing, you know, and a lot of these guys,
- 42:19Speaker 1: it's nothing like to you and me, Mike, you know,
- 42:21Speaker 1: it might be like a life changing like when you've
- 42:23Speaker 1: decided to go to Vermont Academy, that might have been
- 42:26Speaker 1: like a life changing decision for you that you maybe
- 42:30Speaker 1: really agonized over. Yea, for these kids, it might be
- 42:33Speaker 1: something they saw on TikTok over the weekend and they
- 42:35Speaker 1: just decide to do it. So while I would say
- 42:39Speaker 1: it's probably unprecedented for Mac Jones to say you're gonna
- 42:42Speaker 1: trade me, I don't think it's out of the Roman.
- 42:45Speaker 1: We're in different times now. I would also just highlight,
- 42:48Speaker 1: you know, Mac going to Alabama, wanting to be at Alabama,
- 42:51Speaker 1: sitting there, and I mean he could have done it then, right,
- 42:55Speaker 1: but why wanting to be at Alabama? He basically kind
- 42:58Speaker 1: of worked wormed his way into Alabama. Yeah, and then
- 43:01Speaker 1: and then tying it into what he said to the
- 43:03Speaker 1: commissioner right after he was drafted, this is where I
- 43:05Speaker 1: wanted to be the Patriots. You know, we'll see, so
- 43:07Speaker 1: we'll see. Yeah, like Alabama is something that he dreamed of.
- 43:12Speaker 1: But I don't think he has that of No, no,
- 43:15Speaker 1: and I don't want to make that same comparison, but
- 43:17Speaker 1: I still think that but two years ago, But think
- 43:20Speaker 1: of how bad it must it would have to be
- 43:23Speaker 1: in his mind to publicly come out say I want
- 43:26Speaker 1: to so would you be surprised if that happened. Yes, yes,
- 43:28Speaker 1: I wouldn't. You wouldn't, I would, I would. I just surprised.
- 43:32Speaker 1: I'm just listening to him talk every week. He just
- 43:34Speaker 1: does not sound like a happy camper. Well, I mean,
- 43:38Speaker 1: I would imagine that he's gonna want to see change
- 43:40Speaker 1: in the offseason two. And like I said, I think
- 43:42Speaker 1: change is coming, Okay, So what if it doesn't. Would
- 43:45Speaker 1: you be surprised if he demanded a trade? Um, what
- 43:49Speaker 1: if Bill O'Brien we talked about this at nausea. What
- 43:52Speaker 1: if he doesn't come back and they just say, well,
- 43:54Speaker 1: you know, we're just sticking with Patricia and they let
- 43:56Speaker 1: m Myers walk to I'd be surprised if he didn't
- 44:00Speaker 1: if that, if that happens, if they make changes, yeah,
- 44:02Speaker 1: I'd probably be a little surprised. If they made changes
- 44:04Speaker 1: and he still asked for a trade. Well, if he Yeah,
- 44:07Speaker 1: if they don't make changes and he asked for a trade,
- 44:10Speaker 1: it will confirm a lot of what people are speculating now. Yeah,
- 44:14Speaker 1: you know, I mean, I think there's a lot of
- 44:15Speaker 1: information still to come in that will inform what we're
- 44:17Speaker 1: gonna say always season always. But I also think the
- 44:21Speaker 1: Jacoby Myers situation is a fascinating one as to what
- 44:24Speaker 1: the team's going to do. As a guy that Mac
- 44:26Speaker 1: has you know, been vocal about that he loves and
- 44:29Speaker 1: you know, if you're don't you think they should keep him?
- 44:32Speaker 1: Of course, well look you gotta keep somebody. Yeah yeah,
- 44:35Speaker 1: oh yeah, yeah, oh yeah. No. I And I said before,
- 44:37Speaker 1: I'm at a point now with Jacobe like I just
- 44:39Speaker 1: want him to get paid and be happy. And if
- 44:41Speaker 1: it's here, great, but if it's not, I'm gonna He's
- 44:43Speaker 1: one of the first guys ever the Patriots that I'll
- 44:45Speaker 1: be happy for it to leave. Um, but I will
- 44:47Speaker 1: be too. But I think that he this want to
- 44:51Speaker 1: keep Mac happy. And if and if he really is
- 44:52Speaker 1: this unhappy and on the you know, and if he
- 44:54Speaker 1: was considering asking for a trade like small things like
- 44:57Speaker 1: retaining Jacoby Myers, um, you know, that goes a little
- 45:00Speaker 1: bit of a way. I mean, we don't know truly
- 45:03Speaker 1: how he feels about the setup of the coaches, but
- 45:05Speaker 1: you know that would be another area where are we
- 45:07Speaker 1: going to make a change to you know, make Mac happy?
- 45:10Speaker 1: Is that is that going? Uh, let's go to Mike
- 45:18Speaker 1: and Puerto Rico. What's up, Mike, Hey, everybody hobby Holidays.
- 45:25Speaker 1: And I'm glad that, like the same time allows you
- 45:29Speaker 1: to cool down because I was going to call after
- 45:32Speaker 1: the game on this past week on Thursday because I
- 45:36Speaker 1: was just livid. Um, I don't make that much money.
- 45:40Speaker 1: And after a couple of I mean I make a
- 45:43Speaker 1: comfortable living list, but it that way. But then after
- 45:46Speaker 1: the last couple of wins, everything looking like it was
- 45:49Speaker 1: on its way up. I made a financial commitment to
- 45:52Speaker 1: go to both the Raiders and the Cardinals game, um,
- 45:55Speaker 1: which are pretty expensive of all things considered. Fund all
- 46:00Speaker 1: of the travel, all of the lodging and all that stuff.
- 46:03Speaker 1: And then I just watched that fiasco on Thursday and
- 46:08Speaker 1: I was just livid. And I just literally had a
- 46:11Speaker 1: hard time just looking at the person that I'm that
- 46:13Speaker 1: I'm going with my fiance and be and like justifying it.
- 46:17Speaker 1: He's like, this stresses you out, this, this puts you
- 46:20Speaker 1: in a bad mood, and now we're going to spend
- 46:21Speaker 1: all this money to go over there. I mean, yeah,
- 46:25Speaker 1: she doesn't want to be around you. If you're in
- 46:26Speaker 1: a bad mood, Vegas, It'll be okay. Sorry, but I
- 46:32Speaker 1: hear you though. My time it's frustrating. I'm gonna be
- 46:34Speaker 1: totally thinking of you now how these two games go
- 46:37Speaker 1: as somebody who you know, had had to used to
- 46:39Speaker 1: have to, you know, put up funds to go and
- 46:41Speaker 1: do trips. Pat. It's frustrating because you do, you invest
- 46:44Speaker 1: your time, and I get it. Like we had we
- 46:46Speaker 1: had a guy that on the postgame show that was
- 46:49Speaker 1: like really emotional after the game Thursday night. You know,
- 46:52Speaker 1: remember that, I was like, you know, I put my
- 46:54Speaker 1: blood sweating, and I kind of, you know, I was
- 46:56Speaker 1: poking fun at him a little bit, but I get it.
- 46:58Speaker 1: I get the emotion I was. I'm not that far
- 47:00Speaker 1: removed from being one of those whack of doodles in
- 47:02Speaker 1: the stands. I was with you. I was there, so Mike,
- 47:04Speaker 1: bottom line right, Oh, I'm going And you know, I'll
- 47:11Speaker 1: be honest, some of the motivation has come back into
- 47:13Speaker 1: it because of hearing the postgame show and then Tuesday
- 47:18Speaker 1: show was like a top five of all time and
- 47:21Speaker 1: then you guys just bringing me back down and you know, Okay,
- 47:24Speaker 1: well it's a process, let's go into it. But most importantly,
- 47:27Speaker 1: I really appreciate the fact that you guys are starting
- 47:30Speaker 1: to hold the proper. You're starting to hold everybody accountable
- 47:34Speaker 1: on this, meaning that you know, the Belichick and Patricia
- 47:40Speaker 1: and all of that, all that stuff, and other media
- 47:42Speaker 1: seems to be like, Okay, the shine is coming off
- 47:44Speaker 1: of the you know, off of the jewelry with Belichick,
- 47:49Speaker 1: and it's like, okay, what what what are we doing
- 47:50Speaker 1: to correct this? Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able
- 47:54Speaker 1: to see this team turnaround, you know, in in a
- 47:58Speaker 1: dramatic way this week. But you know, yeah, at least,
- 48:02Speaker 1: well look at it this way. I don't know. I
- 48:04Speaker 1: don't know if you're like me, but I hate going
- 48:06Speaker 1: to weddings. I think they're a waste of time. But
- 48:09Speaker 1: as you proved that mind, I know, I had a
- 48:12Speaker 1: good time, but you can you can hate going to weddings,
- 48:15Speaker 1: but you can still have a good time at the wedding,
- 48:18Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So like, make your own
- 48:20Speaker 1: good time. Forget about the you know, just go enjoy Arizona,
- 48:24Speaker 1: enjoy Las Vegas, make everything else great, and then if
- 48:28Speaker 1: they lose, they lose. Yeah, Mike, you live in you
- 48:30Speaker 1: in Florida, right, so I mean is sorry, well he's
- 48:34Speaker 1: in California. But you know, the thing that's great too.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Is as Fred said on the show the other day,
- 48:39Speaker 1: there's a huge Patriots contingent there. So like for me
- 48:42Speaker 1: when I used to go to games, like it was
- 48:44Speaker 1: as much about like meeting the congregation, like my friends,
- 48:47Speaker 1: my Patriot fan brothers, you know, and all these people
- 48:49Speaker 1: from across the country that you might have nothing in
- 48:51Speaker 1: common with other than you're rooting for this football team.
- 48:53Speaker 1: So I always took some value from from that too,
- 48:55Speaker 1: being in that crowd. And it's gonna be a good
- 48:58Speaker 1: you know. And by the way you mentioned, I think
- 49:00Speaker 1: there is an event uh in Arizona at a place
- 49:04Speaker 1: called Tusso's Sunday Night, So I think there's gonna be
- 49:07Speaker 1: a big fan gathering there if anyone's listening, Scott Hole too,
- 49:12Speaker 1: uh is with the Arizona Club or Barry Um if
- 49:16Speaker 1: you want to call in and give us the deets
- 49:19Speaker 1: on that. I think it's Sunday Night and then it's
- 49:20Speaker 1: going to be a tailgate on Monday UH in Arizona.
- 49:24Speaker 1: So it's one of the biggest fan clubs. Oh, I'll
- 49:27Speaker 1: never forget when we played at University of arizonas yes Tempe,
- 49:32Speaker 1: and that was it was a home literally a home game.
- 49:36Speaker 1: It was unbelieabel. It was like a bowl. It was like, um,
- 49:39Speaker 1: it went like three quarters of the way around, it
- 49:41Speaker 1: was like a bowl. There was a college it's a
- 49:43Speaker 1: college stadium obviously, it's it's Arizona States places before they
- 49:46Speaker 1: built a new the new joint, And it was all
- 49:48Speaker 1: the way around, all Patriots fans, like all the way
- 49:51Speaker 1: around the bed. It was unreal. Yeah, I had never
- 49:54Speaker 1: seen anything like that. On the road. We came close
- 49:56Speaker 1: to San Diego that was that was pretty good at
- 49:59Speaker 1: T But that Arizona game was I've never seen anything
- 50:03Speaker 1: like that. Yeah, I'm gonna need you guys this weekend. Yeah. Um,
- 50:06Speaker 1: but you know, getting back to you know, getting back
- 50:10Speaker 1: to you know, fans getting really upset when they lose.
- 50:14Speaker 1: I get that. I get that. What I don't get
- 50:16Speaker 1: is when fans say I'm embarrassed, they're embarrassing me, Like,
- 50:21Speaker 1: I don't understand why you're embarrassed because the Patriots are
- 50:24Speaker 1: unless like you know, you're the biggest trash talker and
- 50:27Speaker 1: now you're eating crow every week. But like like, be upset,
- 50:31Speaker 1: be sad, be disappointed, but why are you embarrassed? Like
- 50:36Speaker 1: you didn't play in it? You didn't your kids not
- 50:38Speaker 1: on the in the game, Like, why are you embarrassed?
- 50:41Speaker 1: I never understood that unless like you're every day walking
- 50:44Speaker 1: around like the Silver Bullet and you're all dressed up
- 50:46Speaker 1: patriot you're embarrassing if they win. Oh my god, everywhere
- 50:53Speaker 1: I go drecked out my Patriots stuff. People are you know?
- 50:56Speaker 1: I get all the I don't get the embarrassed motion
- 50:59Speaker 1: that that part of it. You know, what about the
- 51:01Speaker 1: I'm out? Do you think anybody can really? I hate
- 51:04Speaker 1: that if you can come out, Yeah, that's Paul. Like
- 51:09Speaker 1: that's Paul already like emotion like that's not real. Yeah,
- 51:12Speaker 1: you're not really, that's like Paul, you know, slamming down
- 51:14Speaker 1: the D'Angelo sub because he didn't like the it didn't happen.
- 51:18Speaker 1: It's it's all performative. It's performative. It didn't happen. It
- 51:23Speaker 1: happened quality turkey right there. It was. It was so funny.
- 51:27Speaker 1: I mean, he says it doesn't happen. It happened. Oh no, no,
- 51:30Speaker 1: that didn't have I didn't slam any First of all,
- 51:32Speaker 1: I wouldn't do we were all sitting at the table.
- 51:34Speaker 1: I wouldn't do that. He comes walking up because we're
- 51:36Speaker 1: waiting for the food to be served. You know, he
- 51:38Speaker 1: comes walking up, sits down and just puts the puts
- 51:42Speaker 1: the sandwich in the middle of the table. If he
- 51:44Speaker 1: wants to say that I walked through the press box
- 51:48Speaker 1: with attitude to let everybody know. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's
- 51:51Speaker 1: I would absolutely I'd cop to that. Yeah. Did I
- 51:55Speaker 1: put it down? And then when you sat down, what
- 51:56Speaker 1: did you do? I just put the I put my
- 51:58Speaker 1: sandwich down and sat down and ate it. I wouldn't
- 52:00Speaker 1: do that. So you were trying to make a statement.
- 52:02Speaker 1: Oh no, no, no, I didn't necessarily say I wasn't
- 52:04Speaker 1: making in the middle. I had one too many pieces
- 52:07Speaker 1: of chicken with a bone he put right in the
- 52:10Speaker 1: It was. It was, and everybody was pissed. I was
- 52:13Speaker 1: the only one that did anything about it. And we
- 52:14Speaker 1: were cracking up, like like we were all laughing because
- 52:17Speaker 1: we knew what he was doing. It's like, I've had it.
- 52:19Speaker 1: I've literally I literally went to the line, turned and said,
- 52:23Speaker 1: I can't do this again. I'm going I'm going to
- 52:25Speaker 1: Deangelos and I went to get a sub and I
- 52:27Speaker 1: was back in ten minutes, and they would die. The
- 52:29Speaker 1: Fred's right they would die and laughing. That might be
- 52:31Speaker 1: beyond stake tips next week, right stake tips state tips
- 52:35Speaker 1: like Filet Mignon compared to that chicken with the bonunything
- 52:38Speaker 1: you got every single it's not that food. It's just
- 52:41Speaker 1: the same thing, right every No, I know, he just
- 52:43Speaker 1: switch it up Melvin's and Tennessee what's up Melvin Hey?
- 52:49Speaker 1: Um to get to the game real quick. I think
- 52:52Speaker 1: the Pacers will win day around twenty three twenty. Of course,
- 52:56Speaker 1: the problem with that, I don't think they can win
- 52:59Speaker 1: both of those games. So that's going to be I
- 53:01Speaker 1: guess tough going forward. Um. And the bigger picture, I
- 53:06Speaker 1: guess is in regards to the division, it's I guess
- 53:10Speaker 1: it's it's been more apparent that so far the Bills
- 53:15Speaker 1: and Dolphins basically own you. You haven't given them, you know,
- 53:19Speaker 1: too much resistance for a while. You're you're very much
- 53:22Speaker 1: so staying into fourth place and the own person making
- 53:26Speaker 1: any narring of gaps to the Jets. So the Jets
- 53:31Speaker 1: are coming, and so far one and two in our division,
- 53:34Speaker 1: you're far away from opinion. These teams basically have to show,
- 53:38Speaker 1: you know, like I almost like the Bills there c
- 53:41Speaker 1: level games and they can handle you. We'll see what
- 53:44Speaker 1: the Dolphins do, but at least the Jets did, I mean,
- 53:47Speaker 1: have competed with them a little recently. So I just
- 53:49Speaker 1: want to see what are we looking like when it
- 53:52Speaker 1: comes to being teams in the division, because we're struggling
- 53:56Speaker 1: that bad again the division teams, we got a long
- 54:00Speaker 1: road head, like the playoffs is. I mean, clearly got
- 54:03Speaker 1: to win the division to even get close. But if
- 54:05Speaker 1: he's gonna be kicked around in the division, it's it's
- 54:08Speaker 1: gonna be like this going for for a while. I
- 54:10Speaker 1: can't get in totally. Really, I mean, yeah, it's hard
- 54:12Speaker 1: to argue with that, and I agree with Melvin. I
- 54:15Speaker 1: think right now it looks like if you end up
- 54:16Speaker 1: finishing third, it's going to be because you have those
- 54:19Speaker 1: two head to head wins, right and best you can
- 54:21Speaker 1: see you tying the Jets, right, and really you should
- 54:24Speaker 1: have finished third last year probably based on your divisional results.
- 54:26Speaker 1: I mean, you've got you got Miami in the twenty
- 54:28Speaker 1: twenty opener when you sprung Cam Newton in the running
- 54:30Speaker 1: offense on him, and then you got Buffalo in the
- 54:32Speaker 1: win last year. I mean, I mean it's something I
- 54:34Speaker 1: feel like I talked about probably at nauseum this offseason,
- 54:36Speaker 1: which just you know, everybody wants to talk about where
- 54:38Speaker 1: they're in there seat, just try to try to win
- 54:40Speaker 1: the try to get a position in the AFC East.
- 54:42Speaker 1: Last year they lost both to the Dolphins. They you know,
- 54:46Speaker 1: won that one of the bills. But it's interesting to
- 54:48Speaker 1: see what they got against the Dolphins here too, in
- 54:50Speaker 1: the cold. They haven't really had any answers for him.
- 54:52Speaker 1: They're an explosive offense. I'll be really and it might be,
- 54:56Speaker 1: you know, it might be the next asterisk that went
- 54:58Speaker 1: alongside the wind game in Buffalo. Maybe it's one of
- 55:00Speaker 1: those days because I can't see two of you know,
- 55:04Speaker 1: running around in terrible weather and and being the same. Yeah,
- 55:08Speaker 1: I know it. I know it sounds weird, but I'm
- 55:10Speaker 1: I'm happy for these games coming up because I really
- 55:14Speaker 1: I just want to know. Yeah, I just want to
- 55:17Speaker 1: know if we get blitzed by Cincinnati and Buffalo and
- 55:20Speaker 1: good you're in the off season with no Well they
- 55:24Speaker 1: won the game, but you know, I just want to
- 55:28Speaker 1: I just want to know the facts, you know, like
- 55:31Speaker 1: like how far away are we? Yeah? I know what
- 55:33Speaker 1: you mean, I know, I know exactly what you're saying,
- 55:36Speaker 1: And I think that. I mean, you always have to
- 55:38Speaker 1: wait to see how games unfold and play out. Yeah,
- 55:40Speaker 1: but the Buffalo game last year, right, Like, I mean
- 55:43Speaker 1: I can look on the paper and say, well, you
- 55:44Speaker 1: went one and one against though it was so bad, like,
- 55:47Speaker 1: but you know that there was there was something different
- 55:50Speaker 1: special game to me. I think you kind of know.
- 55:54Speaker 1: I I mean, I I know what this team is like.
- 55:57Speaker 1: And listen, can they surprise us all and there's last
- 56:00Speaker 1: five games and do something they haven't done in two years? Sure? Absolutely,
- 56:05Speaker 1: I don't ever say that nothing can happen like that league.
- 56:08Speaker 1: There's not that big a difference between the really good
- 56:10Speaker 1: teams and the really bad ones. Like it's not college like,
- 56:13Speaker 1: there's not this gulf of talents that you can overcome.
- 56:17Speaker 1: But I just looked at it. The last two years,
- 56:20Speaker 1: you've had a hard time consistently stacking up against good teams.
- 56:23Speaker 1: You might be able to beat a couple of them
- 56:25Speaker 1: this year, you know down the stretch that you didn't
- 56:27Speaker 1: beat last year. But yeah, I don't really think that
- 56:30Speaker 1: changes much unless we see a whole different way of playing,
- 56:34Speaker 1: Like all of a sudden, it's like Wow, they're just
- 56:37Speaker 1: clicking now and the defense is shutting them down. And
- 56:40Speaker 1: it's not the weather, it's not anything. They're just better
- 56:42Speaker 1: than the others. Like that could happen. Another three and
- 56:45Speaker 1: out for Josh Allen, Yeah right, boy ate three and
- 56:48Speaker 1: outs for the Bills, Like I just I'm sorry if
- 56:51Speaker 1: I don't expect that to happen. Yeah, I agree with you, Paul,
- 56:53Speaker 1: And I think like the thing though, this year is
- 56:55Speaker 1: just is different to me, just because of the offensive
- 56:58Speaker 1: inability to do anything. And you know when when Josh
- 57:01Speaker 1: was here last year, and you know, you still kind
- 57:04Speaker 1: of believed that they might be able to do what
- 57:06Speaker 1: you said and put it together, because I think there
- 57:08Speaker 1: were more I remember talking about in the playoff game
- 57:10Speaker 1: heading into the playoff game, Buffalo could still I mean
- 57:12Speaker 1: there's still the Patriots in the playoffs. I mean, how wrong?
- 57:16Speaker 1: How wrong was I I mean, similar position last year
- 57:20Speaker 1: to where they are now I had this year. I'm
- 57:22Speaker 1: I'm I will be I'm skeptical, they're gonna be I'm
- 57:24Speaker 1: gonna be wrong now I'm gonna be wrong the other way. Yeah,
- 57:27Speaker 1: all right, we've got to take a break when we
- 57:29Speaker 1: come back. Mark calls and emails Evan will be back

- 1:06:54Speaker 1: out this snippet from the latest episode of Pats from
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: the Past with Logan Mankins. What about Channing Crowder? Yeah,
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: we didn't like him either. It was going to get
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: to my individuals. One of my all time great Logan
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: Mankins postgame meetings in the locker room, I believe Matt
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: Light had his way a little bit with Janne Crowder
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: and I was asking you, so what happened, because I
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: don't know. I just looked up and I saw Matt
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: pounding him on the head. So that was pretty cool.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: It was mid Light always had an understanding there was
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: The only words spoken were be ready. And he wasn't
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: usually next to me on field goal and I look
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: and he that year he wasn't because that was a
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: year he had like a broken hand or something. So
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: he had this cast on his hand of again with
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: and he's lining it up next to me, and I'm like,
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: what the heck's Matt doing. He's like, you ready sounded
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: like blogging. I look over and Matt's like pulling his
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: helmet off and then charbably hit him on the head
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: with his cast, and then it turned into a whole melee.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: So and yet you see that smirk on his face.
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: That's how he told the story to me hit the
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: post game. It's like, yeah, you just pounded on him
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: on his hid. Yeah it was great, But crowder he
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: would be. He had been antagonizing Matt the whole game,
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: and we were beating him pretty good by then, so
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: Matt just lost lit the fuse a little bit and
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: lost it. And Matt was always he was a great
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: teammate too. I remember we played Detroit one year. I
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: don't know if he was on Thanksgiving or not, but
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: me and Sue had been fighting the whole game and
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: they came time for field goal and I just that
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: year Matt was next to me on field goal. I
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: just said, get ready, I knew I jumped Sue came
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: low on the field goal. I jumped back and I
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: was pulling his helmet off, and I looked to my
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: side at Matt's just punching him in the ribs as
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: hard as they can and as fast as they can.
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: Kind of teammates you want, right, Absolutely, absolutely, And that
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: was even better because the referees only threw a penalty
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: on Sue, no one else. All Right. That was a
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: clip of Patch from the Past with Paul and no socks.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: They had Logan Mankins for the last past episode and
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: I just listened to it this morning. Real good stuff.
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: Great one, yeah one, great job. But you guys couldn't
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: fund anymore over a player than the two of you
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: did him. No, I mean it was no question. Guilty
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: as charged. He's so likable Mankins. He just comes off.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: I get made fun of. He calls me anything about
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: Patriots dot Com. He makes fun of me for fawning
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: over the players. I'm the players. I just don't like
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: the team. I'm like you, how much did you work
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: on your Mankins impression? You seem like you got that down.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: You went right to it. You didn't even hesitate with
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: him in the room. Indy and I have gone over. Hey,
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: you know what, time is running out, not just on
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: the Patriots season, but Bridgetone is the official tire Newingham

- 1:10:01Speaker 1: So there you go. All right, um five a ticket
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: hotline web radio at Patriots dot com is the email address.
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: But Evans, all right, Evan, the floor is yours. Did
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: that one for the YouTube. So the Patriots are back
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: on the practice field here today on Thursday. Thursday is
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: a Wednesday, but it's kind of a Thursday. But it's
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: a Wednesday. I don't know. This week is all to
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: get about anyways. So coming back from practice after not
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: being here on Tuesday. So players were returning to Patriots
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: practice on Thursday include Nika, just Mike on when you
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: and Jabriel Peppers. So that's the good news. I get
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: two guys back on the offensive line. I think Peppers
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: also could play an important role in this game as
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: well against Kyler Murray. So I think that's good news
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: for the Patriots. Here's the bad news, however, Jalen Mills,
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: Jacobe Myers, Damian Harris, Isaiah Wynn, and Trent Brown still
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: not at Patriots practice. From Myers injured at the end
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: of that game last week and didn't speak after the
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: game either, we were told that he was not allowed
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: to speak, So I either concussion protocol, reaggravated that shoulder,
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: whatever the case may be. Both tackles missing, Mills missing again.
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: So yeah, still some key players out for the Patriots.
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: I mean, that must be a hell of an illness
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: for Trent Brown, that's what I wonder. I mean, we'll
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: see the injury port this afternoon exactly what it is.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, it's the two top tackles. So when
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: you're down to Justin McDermott and you get a team
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: that loves the pressure, yep. Yeah, yeah, man, this game
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: is tough. It's just it's never easy on it like
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: it never like you know, a game against back against
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: the wall and you need everybody and some people got
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: sick they can't play. Yeah, it's tough to available. That'd
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: be a good opponent for this week. I think you know,
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: you were rattling off, you know, some pass games before, Paul,
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: and you know you said, I don't know what this
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: team situation was in that game. Somebody should come out
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: with like historical schedules of like what the condition of
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: the team was in that game, so you could look
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: at outside. They do that. Some of the DVOA takes
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: into a count like absences for injury and yeah, but
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: you know, like you know, Patriots beat the Bills, you know,
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: two years ago, whatever the footnote is, you know, someone should, yeah,
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: like what were the you know, the the other conditions,
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: whether it's injuries or whether that led to that result.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: Was it a real wine or was it. DVOA does
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: that to an extent. That's sort of the idea that
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: they have adjustments for whether you know, playing a backup quarterback.
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: You know. That's why, for example, DVOA doesn't really like
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: the vikings is because early on in the season that
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: they're beating up on a bunch of backup quarterbacks. So
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: they have the vikings like middle of the pack and
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: DVOA despite the fact that they're ten and two so
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: there's some adjustments before on that later. What do you know,
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: off the top of your head, what the Patriots run
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: defense DVO as Paul asked me earlier in the Show
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: and Night. They've been good against the run outside of
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: like a couple of games, so their run defense DVOA
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: has been high. I don't know the exact number, but
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: I can look it up quickly. Yeah. Well, the reason
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: why I asked was because, like I did the matchups
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: with Arizona, and I don't really look at the DVOA
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: stuff because I'm not as sophisticate. I mean, not even
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: making fun of you. I I just don't. It's it's
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: you got your but it's more of a quick hitter
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: kind of thing. I'm not really delving into Warren Sharp
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: analysis for that. For that, you know those matchups and
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: Aaron Chatz, wrong guy, Oh no, Warren Sharp analysis, Warren
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: Sharp on football. I'm not talking about football outsiders. I
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: think it was just general. Do you ever go on
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: the Warren Sharp site. I know he stopped doing that'll
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: make your eyes now, I know he stopped doing it.
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: So their seventh and DVOA against the run right now,
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: third against the past see now, I just think it's
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: it's really striking how similar their numbers are against the run,
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: both in terms of yards allowed in average per per
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: carry and one is twenty ninth and one is seventh
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: in dvo A. I think that's a striking difference. The
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: Patriots actually allow more rushing yards per game than the
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: Cardinals do. Now, the Cardinals allow more per carry than
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: the Patriots. Really their twentieth against with the Cardinals, they
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: just squiggle but point stance, oh twentieth, so it's not
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: as big a game. Okay, yeah, they're nineteenth nineteen, all right,
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: So this makes most personality getting closer, but it's much
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: much as closer than I thought. This is what I
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: do like about DVOA though, because not all rushing yards
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: are equal, right, so, and that's a big part of
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: why the Patriots I think have been good in rushed
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: UVO DVOA this year is because there's a big difference
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: between giving up you know, first and ten three yards
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: and three and one three yards. And they have situationally
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: been able to stop the run pretty well. And outside
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: of the mobile quarterback games against fields and against Lamar,
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: they've done Okay, I mean the Green Bay game is
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: another good example because they gave up one hundred and
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: ninety nine yards on the ground. But that game plan
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: was about Aaron Rodgers, right, Like that game plan wasn't
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: to go in and load up and load the box
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: and have base defense out there and stop the run.
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: It was a game plan that was the same thing
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: Thursday pass right, you know. But and you'll be surprised
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: to hear this. I actually made the comment that I
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: think the Patriots have been pretty good, I mean, not great,
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: but much better than the recent past against the run.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: They've had a couple of blips on the radar, and
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: the Cardinals like, like I said, I think it's one
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: ten point eight to one eleven point two. That's the
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: that's the just the gross numbers, Like, that's what they've
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: allowed rushing yards per game. And at the time, we
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: thought twenty ninth not nineteenth, that that that's a big different.
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: Must be ninth. Yeah, that could be an easy mix. Yeah,
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: so twenty ninth, and I was like, there's no way
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: the Patriots a way down and deval, you know, like
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: they've been pretty good against the run, especially if you
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: extrapolate the Bears in the Ravens game, and you just
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: created off of the rest of the season and kind
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: of look at what to kind of take it a
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: step forward. Now, I would look at it as traditional
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: run games versus quarterback run games, and against teams that
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: just are under center and turn around and hand the
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: ball off to the running back. They have been one
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: of the best teams in the league. That game against
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: Chubb really helped their numbers. Yeah you know, um see
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: some of the numbers like that that helped their gross numbers,
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: like Chubby average like five game. Yeah, yeah, something like that.
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: Um Evan first part of the show, we dove into
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: the Cardinals, you know, like what were the matchups here?
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: Where do you see the Patriots having an advantage in
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: this game? An advantage like yeah, Like I was listening
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: this morning and they were saying, the Cardinals defense is
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: really good about not giving up the big pass, but
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: they're terrible and in short, yeah, I think their secondary
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: can be had if you can block. But that if
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: you can block for this team right now is a
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: big block. You know. They are a team that they
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: bring a lot of fire zones, right They bring a
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: lot of zone pressure from all different areas of their defense.
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: And if you can get it blocked, then that leaves
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: them with five or six guys in the back end
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: trying to cover a whole lot of grass. So in
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: a lot of ways, I think that their structures end
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: up playing out a lot like Minnesota, and that could
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: be an area where you could beat them over the
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: top with the passing game, just like you did with
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: the Vikings. But the Vikings were not a pressure team.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: The Vikings were a four man rush team, so it's
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: it's definitely different on how they get to cover two. Right.
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: They play a lot of too deep, but it's different
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: how they get to that. So that's I think a
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: big issue if you're the Patriots. I think the one
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: advantage that they will have in this game defensively is
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: that I do like their odds of turning this game
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: at times into a drop back pass game for Kyler
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: Murray where he can't it's not first down where he's running,
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: it's not urpo, and it's just straight traditional drop back passing.
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: And if you can get him into those situations where
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: he has to beat you from the pocket, then I
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: think that they can have some wins defensively against Arizona.
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: But you know that means stopping to run on early downs.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: That means stopping RPO, That means stopping DeAndre Hopkins. You
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: know that those are the first kind of three boxes
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: you have to check so that you can get them
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: into third and ten and take advantage of some of
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: those things. Problems with all those things. You know, stop
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: being so negative highlighting and I'd be curious, like you
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: keep making You made that comment about they're good at
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: stopping the big play, but not so good at, you know,
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: allowing people to you know, paper cut you to death.
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: I just wonder if you know, Vans having the time
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: of his life. Joseph like has watched any of the
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: Patriots offense this year and says, maybe we don't have
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: to focus so much on taking away the big places
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: because they don't get a lot of those, right, they
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: don't try a lot of those. Yeah, maybe we can,
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: maybe we can get a little bit more aggressive, you
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: know with the blitz pressure that that you guys have
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: been talking about are but I'm talking about with your coverage.
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: Marry your coverage, with your pressure. It's funny because we're
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: gonna pressure and if we don't get there, we're gonna
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: keep everything in front of us. They are a team,
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: you know, I've watched a couple of their games last week,
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: and they are a defense that kind of does what
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: they do, you know, And I don't know if they
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: are going to completely change it up, but what they
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: do is very multiple. They and that is what Belichick
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: was talking about the other day. They run a bunch
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: of different personnel groupings, They run a bunch of different coverages,
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: and they have different guys like in Isaiah Simmons for example,
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: who what you know, Bill is talking about what is he?
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: Is he a linebacker? Is he? And is he listed
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: on the depth chart as both a starting linebacker in
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: a back up safety? Right? And that's what he is everywhere?
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: So you kind of have to heat because of his versatility.
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: They can be so many different things at once. Now
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: it hasn't added up in terms of statistically. They are
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: not a good defense, so it's not like it's really
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: added up much. But I think that this speaks to
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: their entire operation where the talent on the roster is
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: not indicative of a four and eight team, Like they
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: have a lot more talent that they're just not getting
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: enough out of. And I would say on defense, it's
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: true as well, I mean Simmons, Buddha Baker. I'm sure
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: Mike loves Zavan Collins as much as all of us
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: in the draft. You know, they're they have good players
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: on both sides of the ball. Yeah, I mean just
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: looking at and it's their numbers are terrible, but it's
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: like anybody else. It's not like they give up like
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: thirty eight every game. You know, it's forty four, then twenty,
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: then sixteen, then thirty four and thirty four and back
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: to back week So like if you if you get
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: them in the week that they all out thirty four,
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: great you win. But what if you only score twenty.
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: The Chargers had a tough time in that game because
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: they didn't have Mike Williams, and without Mike Williams, they
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: had nobody that could win a one on one on
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: the outside and they're receiving corps and they just blitzed
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: from the middle of the field the entire game. And
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: so that was the problem. But you know, they did run.
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: They do run some zero right, some cover zero as well,
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: and they just had nobody that that that justin Herbert
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: could just toss one up to. I mean, I don't
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: know if DeVante Parker is really that guy really want
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: to do that with or he's not Mike Williams. I
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: don't think he's on Mike Williams's level. But the Patriots
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: do have DeVante Parker who could maybe go up and
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: if it's you know, third and eight and they decide
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: to bring a zero and all he can do is
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: is heave it up to somebody against the single coverage,
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: then I mean there's worse guys to have to want
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: to jump all down the field. And when I was
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: talking about like sort of marrying the pressure with your
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: coverage as opposed to playing soft coverage, no one that
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: you bring it at all. I don't know if you
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: watch did you watch any of the Miami San Fatis game?
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: So when Brock Purdy goes in that game, obviously Miami
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: just said we're gonna go after this kid every play. Yeah,
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: and they got there almost every play, but they didn't
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: marry the coverage with it, and he just kept, yeah,
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: dinking him to death. You know, it was use Check,
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: it was McCaffrey. And I mean, obviously McCaffrey is an
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: excellent player. I'm not saying that, but like at some
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: point they needed to move everybody up and say, if
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: he's gonna beat me on like a zero blitz or something,
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: he's gonna need to make a good throw as opposed
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: to flipping it three yards to the side and letting
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: Christian McCaffrey beat somebody in space. And they never really
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: did that. Even at the very end of the game
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: when they were desperate, they still churned out first downs
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: and Purdy played well. I give him credit, he was
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: a good him up they're trying to he's you did
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: it kills me with San Francisco because that's when you
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: look at the way that they're built offensively like that,
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: that's exactly what I wish that we were going for here,
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: right and and they identified it and they said, you know,
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: it's probably gonna be Jimmy for us this year, might
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: be Jimmy for us long term if he stays healthy
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: at least for the next couple of years. So we
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: have to go out and make that Christian McCaffrey trade
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: because we have to just surround this guy with as
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: many playmakers as possible. So they have Trent Williams, who's
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: probably the best tackle in the NFL. So they have
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: a good offensive line. They have all these playmakers with
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: the ball in their hands, Kittle, Deebo, McCaffrey and the quarterback.
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: It doesn't matter who the quarterback is, right, you just
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: you can You can put in Purty, you can put
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: in Jimmy g It's not gonna matter because anybody can
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: throw a five yard passed Christian McCaffrey. So it just
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: it kills me to watch teams like the forty nine
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: ers because they're so well coordinated, their plan is so sound,
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: and their scheme is so sound, and then they also realize, Okay,
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: our quarterback is not a difference maker or a big
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: time elite playmaker. He's somebody that we're gonna have to
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: prop up. And they have no problem with going out
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: and doing that. Yeah. That was one of some of
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: my favorite parts on Hard Knots was just the prep
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: for San Francisco and the coaches given the game plan
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: to the players and talking about just how tough Debot
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: and McCaffrey, I mean, the two of them. They just
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: went on and on about how good they were and
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: all the other guy, now, wow, what's his name? Uh yeah,
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: it's a good player too. Yeah. Yeah, that was just
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: behind the keeler they got playmakers, and it's not just playmakers,
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: just like in a maddened sense of like we're just
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: gonna buy buy all these guys. They all are great
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: with the ball in their hands, and they have this
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: scheme that is great at getting them in space, and
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: it just is a perfect marriage of you just kill
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: player and a scheme. You just look at them on
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: paper and you're like, this is a tough team, Like
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: you can just tell by the by how all their
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: players their offensive line. All that said, I'm far more
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: impressed with the other side of the ball with them.
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: They lose personnel every week and it just doesn't seem
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: too mad at that. They just dominate. All they highlighted
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: in the in the Hard Knocks was Fred Warner and
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: Bosa the two and that was you know, Drake green
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: Law like that they're so active and physical and the
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: like the BA seven And then forget about it when
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: when they get a lead and Bosa's coming off the
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: edge and yeah, I mean every time I see Fred
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: Warner play, it's like, why why can't we think you know,
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: big and can run. And it also just shows that
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: all this talk about like all building like a strong
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: middle class, like they have both, Like why not have both? Right?
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: Like they have elite players that are, you know, best
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: players at their position type players like Bosa and Trent Williams.
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: And then they also have good roster depth. So it
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: just they have a great team. Yeah, let's go to
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: Todd North Carolina. Hey, Todd, Hey, guys, I'm glad that
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: you've been talking about Miami game with San friend because
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: I think that's a good example of what happens if
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: you don't have your tackles than playing well. Well. He
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: didn't even have his tackles to h and you guys
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: have made some camps at least even has Between two
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: U and Mac, Mac hasn't had a tackle, play well
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: all all year pretty much, so how is he supposed
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: to succeed? And look too, he's got the great weapons,
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: he's got everything, but no tackles. Do you think two
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: have played well on Sunday? I think he sucked. I
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: think he had wide open guys all over the field
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: and he just missed them. Was a NFL they got
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: into it about this. Those are just two teams though,
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: that asks in a hole and he ain't coming out. Yeah,
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: those are just two teams though that I think when
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: you watch that game, which I'm glad you brought up
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: that those are two teams that don't have Patrick Mahomes
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: playing quarterback, that don't have Josh Allen playing quarterback, but
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: they have made the situation for the quarterback would agree
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: as much as they possibly can. And it just you know,
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: I was going through the seven week stretch of Justin Jefferson's,
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: Deefon Diggs, DeAndre Hopkins. They play six of the top
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: seven receivers in receiving yards per game in the back
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: half of the schedule, and Jalen Waddles number nine or
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: number ten on the list too, and he's the second
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: guy in Miami. And my first reaction is, oh crap,
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: Like the defense is, how are they going to stop
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: all these guys? And then my second reaction is if
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: half your schedule has a number one receiver, that means
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: that the league has a lot of number one receivers. Right,
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: So your point I was making the week of the
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: Jefferson game, right, Yeah, he's really good. Well, it's the
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: points are really good. It's the point Bill made after
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: I forget which game they were talking about receivers, like, yeah,
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: we're gonna we're gonna face a lot of this. Well,
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: he said about this guy that he's as good as
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: anybody he's ever coached against. Yeah, Hopkins, I mean, if
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: twenty five teams in the league have a guy, then
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: how is it so hard to find a guy? Right?
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: Like it shouldn't be, is the point Mike brought up
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: a good you know, you're kind of under your breath there.
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: But like Nikkil, Harry Brandon and youth they played together
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: at Arizona State. Yeah, yeah, that was one of my
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: combine trips. I remember talking. I think it was the
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: first one we went to in twenty twenty before I'll
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: hell broke loose. But asking him about that's right, nikkiel
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: and you know all that. Aldred's in North Carolina. Hey, Aldred,
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: Hey tell us how y'all doing today? Hey? Heaven the
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: question that did you telling about why everybody else they
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: don't have our GM? That's the problem. And I just
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: I'm hoping and Fred answer your question about how can
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: fans be uh embarrassed? No, we're not embarrassed if you
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: play good, if you play like a team and lose,
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: that's great. But when you got nothing, you know, on offense,
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: and you just see't struggle and struggled And yeah, I
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: was that one with the big mouth for twenty years.
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: They talked more trash than anybody can lie. So now,
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: like they said, there wasn't wait until build league. They said,
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: when Tom leaves, if you talk that same noise, Hey,
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: I hed every week, every day, every week. Okay, all right,
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: that's how that go. Yeah, that's how that go. All right.
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: But if it's Mac, it's mac duicide to leave. I
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: think that's wrong. But it wasn't mine guy in the
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: first place. But I'm getting to like to do and
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: I don't think he had a fair shake. But most
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: of this stuff he's on his shoulders, but most of
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: it now, So I think you destroyed him by bringing
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: somebody who don't know none about offs and then run
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: off it. Yeah, what do you think you get from
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: Mac if you traded him, I don't know. I mean
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: the price lowers once he goes public and demands. I
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: think his price is lowered based on what you've seen.
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: I mean, the last Orlowski becomes a GM for somebody.
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: Bennet's like three first. I think two is the only
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: guy who likes more than Mac. Like I mean, I
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: understand the like the larger point that Orlowski's making. I
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: just think he, like last week's game, wasn't the week
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: to make that that point like last week, Yes, the
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: two tackles being out for Miami absolutely impacted the game.
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: I watched enough, man, I saw enough on red Zone
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: to see he was under pressure a lot, but he
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: had place to make and didn't. He'll be the first
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: one to tell you, like some of those uh to
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: your point of and you're always talking about the wonderful
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: schemes that are designed to get these guys in the clear.
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: They worked. The guys were in the clear against an
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: elite defense, and he just couldn't consist. I mean the
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: bomb me through to Tyreek Hill, the guy he was wide.
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: I mean he hit him and stride on that one,
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: but he had a lot of other opportunities to do that.
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: It just couldn't. Yeah, I think it. To Aldred's point,
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: and first of all, I hate that. I feel like
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: I've been so negative all week about this team and
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: it really is driving me nuts. To Aldred's point, I'm
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: sick and tired of going into these games with a
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: pea shooter, Like I'm sick of it. I'm sick and
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: tired of going into all these games. And this is
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: not new, like this has been going on since twenty nineteen.
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: And I would even say that there were signs of
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: it in twenty and eighteen as well, until Edelman and
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: Gronk and Brady kind of reached into the fountain of
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: the US just decided we're we're gonna score forty because
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: that's what I do, right, and they kind of pulled
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: it out in the playoff round. But in general, there
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: are signs of this in twenty eighteen, and then it
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: really hit in twenty nineteen, and it hasn't changed for
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: four years. That we go into every single game, and
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: every single game we get into the media work room,
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: Bill comes in, We say, Pill, how are you guys
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: going to stop DeAndre Hopkins next week? Bill? How are
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: you going to stop Jamar Chase next week? Bill? How
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: are you going to stop Tyree Hill? And at some
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: point in time, can we have one of those like it?
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: Just and you go into these games against Buffalo against
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: Miami now and you are just so undermanned, and it's
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: so obvious while looking at the two rosters going into
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: the game that even if fourign eight Arizona team has
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: an offense that scares you on paper more than the Patriots,
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: and at some point in time, you know, Eldred's whole
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: thing is, oh, we gotta adapt with the times and
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: we got to be more modern in our approach. As
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: a general manager, I agree one hundred and ten percent
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: because this has been going on for four years now
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: that they are going into these games where they're going
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: to have to score some points to win and they
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: don't have the horses to put more than thirty. And
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: it's not just a quarterback, it's everything around the quarterback too,
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: and it's just enough is enough with it? All right?
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: That's a good discussion, but we have some important business
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: to take care of. It's that time of the week.
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: Sound good. I think I did good this. I have
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: no idea how I did. It was a good week
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: for everyone, absolutely good week, but it was best for
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: young Evan. Young Evan. I'm turning thirty this weekend. That
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: was that was a reference. That was a reference to
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: me being around before the internet. Um twelve two and one. Wow,
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: that's hut him out, okay, Mike and Paul eleven three
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: and one's gonna say and even in the good weeks
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: for Fred's last ten four and one, so, as I said,
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: good week for everyone with the spread, Young Evan once
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: again ten and five, followed by Mike and Paul at
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: nine and six and Fred five and ten. Oh oh freddy.
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: So season standings real quick one twenty one seventy two
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: and two for Me one twenty seventy three and two
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: for Mike one twelve eighty one and two for Fred
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: Evan eighty three forty seven and one, which is the
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: best winning percentage of the four of us at six
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: thirty seven. That's better than my six twenty seventeen. I
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: do it, I do the the e poa right there, Okay,
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: with the spread, I am one sixteen seventy six and three,
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: which continues to just astound me ninety eight ninety four
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: and three for Mike eighty two one ten and three
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: for Fred sixty six sixty two and three for Evan.
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: So my winning percentage of six z three is far
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: and away the best with the spread. That's a sharp
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: percent I only wish I had a chance that that's
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: a tout percentage. That's better than a percentage. Why what
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: what's tout? Let's tout as long as they make more
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: than more than fifty percent, they're happy. Yeah, oh, I
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: know that I'm over sixty. I know that's like insane.
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: It's insane. It'll never it'll I just keep waiting for
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: like two twelve and one, and it just it hasn't happened.
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: It's coming, it has to Happen's too bad you don't
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: have the all time record, just you know, to see
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: where you stack up, like I'm on an all time
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: pace or I'd be curious if Fred is it somehow
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: I have not books in my draws upstairs, Actually sorry downstairs.
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: We start with tonight eight fifteen on Prime Video. The
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: five and seven Raiders are at the three and nine Rams,
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: led by perhaps Baker Mayfield. We'll see. It's a health
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: issue too. I've been seeing it on Wlawford. He got
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: hurt in the Seattle n Secretary Like like Mexico. It's
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: a good crossover game for the Patriots. Oh yeah, we
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: get to scout the Raiders a little and even introduced
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: me to this kind of All twenty two issue on Amazon,
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: which I was very very I was watching All twenty
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: two live. They have like a different channel, Fred, which
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: year media guy yea. So it's wide, but they have
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: little little um little h graphics that they attached reach
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: players name, so it's just like a frame that you
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: hit or do you have different different so you have
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: to change channels even within my my tweet the very
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: first week of Prime Video, I tweeted, oh live all
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: twenty two it's a Christmas miracle or football season miracle
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: or something like that, and actually made the broadcast. They
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: put it on that that's really cool. How come I'm
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: just hearing about this now? That's really good? Yeah? Yeah,
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: next time you got to put my Patriots unfiltered in
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: the hashtime. So I've been geeking out about this all year.
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: I'm I'm geeking about it now because that's cool. Now
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: just throw it on. I mean, it's it's just a
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: different I have no interest in twenty two, but I
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: really interest in his tweet getting and they had the
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: next gen and it shows like, you know, how fast
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: guys are running and stuff like that. It's yeah, it's
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: okay different. Let's pick the game all right? Sorry it
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: is Vegas by seven? Seven? Um yeah, man, I think
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: Vegas gonna do it. Uncertainly at Rams quarterback, They're they're
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: I think heading for the offseason, getting the golf clubs ready. Um.
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: I like the Raiders to win their fourth in a row,
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: and I'm gonna lay the points too. I think they
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: take it to him. I'm with Mike. I like the Raiders.
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: I like them to cover and I'm becoming a Josh
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: fan under here. It's turning around. Yeah, yeah, I think
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: Vegas wins this game. I will lay the points, and
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: that means no matter what happens in the desert, the
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: following week's game will put the winner ahead of the loser.
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: That's kind of frightening based on what the Raiders look
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: like three weeks ago. Comes Yeah, so they bring in
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: Mayfield to see maybe what he's got. But if the
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: rest of the team's laying down is that We'll say
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: this for the Rams. They played really hard last week. Yeah,
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: did you watch the game at all? It's like against
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: the Seahawks. I think Bobby Wagner had had a little
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: uh be in his bonnet, as they say in Jalen Rams.
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: He's always like that. But they played really hard. They
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: lost with thirty seconds left they had I mean that
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: was a very competitive game. Yeah, I'm gonna go with
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: the Raiders both ways. I was tempted to take the points,
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: but yeah, I just don't think the Rams. If the
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: Rams had won the game, I'd be tempted to take
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: the points here too, but they put I think they
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: emptied the bucket last week and still lost. Sunday at
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: one big game seven and five, Jets are at the
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: nine and three Bills, Bills by nine and a half.
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: Nine and a half. Yeah, we a little preview of
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: this one down in Cape Cod one of my favorite bars,
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: the Woodshed. I think that's where Buffalo has taken the Jets.
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: Just like said, I'm gonna take Buffalo. I'm gonna like
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: the points. I was. I almost used that one in
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: the pregame show last week, but yeah, I say it
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: for now. I like the Bill too. But that's a
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: lot of points in a divisional game against a good defense.
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: So I'll take the Jets to cover that because their
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: defense gave Buffalo some problems the first time I am
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: with young Evan. I believe the Jets. I believe in
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: the Jets defense. I think they had a little bit
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: of a blip in the first half of that game
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: last week against Minnesota. Didn't play great quarterback didn't help
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: them out early in that game. Once they started playing
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: a little bit better offensively, they shut it down in
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: the second half. I think that's more what the Jets
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: are than what they looked like early. I'll take Buffalo
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: to win, and I think they'll win easy, but I'll
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: take the points. I will also do the same thing.
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: Buffalo wins, but they do not cover. Sunday at one,
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: the five and seven Browns are at the eight and
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: four Bengals. Bengals by six. That's a lot of respect
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: for the six. Wow, they hardly had any offense last week.
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: Were terrible. Yeah, they were really bad last week. Yeah,
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: interesting game, figure seven hundred days in between games did
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: look great? Yeah, And I don't think one week one game,
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: I don't think is gonna make really a difference. Cincinnati
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: coming on at the right time. I will take Cincinnati
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: and lay the points. Yeah, I'm taking Cincinnati cover that.
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: I can't believe it's only six. That's crazy. Yeah, i
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: will take Cincinnati, but I'll be crazy and I'll take
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: the points in the division game. Um, I think Watson
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: will look better in his his second game. Yeah, I'm
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: not taking the points Bengals both ways because you know,
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: I also think Cincinnati had an emotional win last weeks.
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: Sometimes you get a little flat. Well that's true, but
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: I'll take the Bengals both ways. Sunday at one the one,
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: ten and one Texans are at the nine and three Cowboys.
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: So guess is the battle for Texas? Houston at Dallas.
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: Guess how many? Sixteen? Yeah, I mean, oh, you guys
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: have seventeen Dallas by seventeen. I forgot you guys already. Sorry,
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: yeah I did not. I didn't see it. Davis Mills,
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: you have back here, You have you a little sheet
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: Mike's script. Yeah, I actually do. But sometimes the ESPN
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: app is a little bit different than what what Paul has. Well,
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: there are area truth to be tall. I mean I
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: usually use the lines in the globe. They haven't always
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: been in the Globe on Thursdays, so I've had to
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: go online. So now I go just online and I
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: try to find like a draft Kings or something like that.
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: They're all very I mean they're within a half a
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: point every game. This is seventeen and you were sixteen
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: and a half. Yeah, no, this is seventeen. Yeah, I
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: was Houston at Dallas by seventeen. I think I got
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: him right off of like a draft Kings today. Yeah,
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: I'm I don't think it's enough. I'm gonna take the Cowboys.
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: I will lay those points. Things are going downhill. It
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: seems like in Houston they're kind of given up. Yeah,
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: I'm taking Dallas. I'm and the points too. I cover
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: as well. Dak's elite. That's it. I didn't know. He
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: was just a big Dak fan. Love Dak, Yeah, love him. Yeah,
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: Davis Mills going back in the fold a little spark obviously.
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: I'm taking Dallas to win the game, all right, I'll
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: go with you guys. So I don't like laying seventeen points,
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: but I'll do it. Yeah. Into the cornerback. Remember Caleb
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: Farley that they draft him? He's uh is that that's
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: the Titans. Who's the cornerback from Houston that they just lost?
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: Another Derris single. I'm gonna take the point. I'm gonna
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: take the points in my mind, and that's why I'm
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: like fifty games below five hundred. Don't be so hard
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: on yourself, you're only thirty eight. Also, love Ceede Lamb.
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: Another another guy um speaking of the Texans has Jack
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: Easter be landed anywhere or is he I don't know, No,
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: I don't think so. I didn't see him on a
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: podcast the other day. What podcasts had him? Something? Not
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: like a big one night? It came up on my
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: Twitter feed for some reason, like a religious one, and
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: he was like smiling ear to ear, like acting like
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: the nicest guy in the world to be upbeating public.
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: And then behind the scenes he's sticking a knife and
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: little finger. Uh. Sunday at one, the ten and two
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: Vikings are at the five and seven Lions. Want to
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: repeat that, the ten and two Viking Vikings are at
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: the five and seven Lions with the Lions or favored
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: by two. Wow, that's that is That's chastinating. And I
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: believe that they've covered quite a few weeks in a
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: row too. What do the sharps? No, they know that that.
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: Dan Campbell's got these guys playing hard, Jared Goff playing
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: the best ball of his life. I bleed for you guys.
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: I'm gonna take mensota. I was looking this up earlier.
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: Jared Goff is third in QBR right now. Third guys
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: having a heck of a season. I still like the Vikings, though,
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: in this game. I think if they win this game
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: and they win to the division, if I remember correctly,
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: I believe the clincher. So I think that they get
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: this done. But that Lions offense, Ben Johnson, their offensive coordinator,
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: I'm on Ross Saint Brown. That guy's a problem. Really
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: fun offense to watch right now. Yeah, because if Detroit
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: had lost last week, the Vikings would have clinched so
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: absolutely by beating the Lions. Um, I'm gonna fall. I'm
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: gonna fall for it, you know, Fred, I'll steal your lion.
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: What do the Sharps? No, right, I'm gonna take the Lions. Yeah,
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: I'm I'm going with the Sharps as well. I mean,
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: I you know, let's let's do it. I also am
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: pretty much on record saying I do not believe in
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: the Vikings. Yeah. One o'clock Sunday, eleven and one. Eagles
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: are at the seven four and one Giants. Eagles by
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: six and a half. Hmm hmm. I like it though,
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the Eagles. I'll lay the points. I
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: still like the Eagles, still having fever dreams about that offense.
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: So I'll take the Eagles, but I'll take it to
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: be close. So you want the Giants. I want the
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: Eagles to win the yeah, yeah, yeah, but the Giants cover. Yeah.
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: I again, I'm with young Evan. I'll take the Eagles
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: to win, but six and a half division game, home
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: home dog, I'll take the points. I'm gonna take, um,
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: the Eagles both when when is the officially turn this
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: week and last? I won't middle Age it waits. I'm
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: gonna take the Eagles both ways. Isn't it the Giants
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: that gave them their only loss of the seasons? Oh?
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: The Commanders. I knew it was an a team. Oh
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: so now I don't think so much about that. I
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: was thinking, so you would have taken So you were saying, Philly,
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: would they smack them around because they lost? Okay? Yeah,
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: Um that changes things a little bit for me. I'll
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: take the points. Okay, Yeah, A lot of a lot
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: of you know what, Eagles both ways. A lot of
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: scratches on my sheet this week. People that the results
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: will be in questions begin rightly. So there's a lot
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: of scratch out kind of stunt you're trying to pull, Parrello.
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: There's a lot of scratches on that Sunday at one.
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: The eight and four Ravens are at the five and
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: seven Steelers. Another interesting spread, although this one's a little
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: bit more understandable. Pittsburgh by two and a half lam Lamar,
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: Tyler Huntley. I think is that is who we got. Um,
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: and Pittsburgh has played a little bit better, at least
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: in terms of wins and losses. I don't really think
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: they've played all that much better. Um, I feel like
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: this is a toss up. Um, I'm gonna go to Baltimore.
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: I just think they're overall a little bit better team
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: even without Lamar. Yeah, I'm gonna go Baltimore. Also, the
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: Steelers barely beat the Colts and Jeff Saturday's last week, right,
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: so I think that that team is that was two
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: weeks ago, and then they barely beat the Falcons, who
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: have made a quarterback change. Yes, I will be with
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: the boys here, um, and I'll take Baltimore. I think
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: Huntley's not bad. Um, I think they'll be hard pressed
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: to you know, be around thirty with points, you know,
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: the way they might with Lamar. But I think they'll
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: they'll score enough to win. This is this could be
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: a really good game. This could be a really good,
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: just not want to have any interest in watching. Yeah,
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: because if it's a really good game, it's gonna be
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: like thirteen. You know, but you don't like football. I
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: don't like bad football. Not a lot of red zone times. Yeah,
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna battle of backups. Caught me out. I'm gonna
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: go with the Ravens. Yeah, yeah, the Ravens Sunday at one.
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: Uh the four and eight Jaguars are at the Where
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: have you gone, mister Robinson? Seven and five? So that
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: one Tennessee by four? Let see by four? Um? Yeah,
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: I think there's some issues with Trevor Lawrence too. Um yeah?
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: Do I have to get him out of my lineup
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: because Lamar's my quarterback? Might is he not playing? Might not?
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: Trevor is gonna play? I think. But he's got a foot. Yeah,
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: I know he's got a foot. Everybody who ever played
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: in Ford Field has a foot. You know that, right?
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: That Ford Field thing is ridiculous. I'll take the Titans.
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: I'll lay the points. I like the Titans too, and uh,
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: i'll take them the cover. They got to bounce back
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: at some point, right. Um. I don't think the Titans
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: are all that good, but I'm gonna lay the points,
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: especially if you guys are telling me there's a chance
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: that Lawrence might not be able to to go wire
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: to wire. I'll take the Titans, but I'll take the points.
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: I've been kind of riding with Jaguars. I brother don't
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: hope you're wrong all year, but he's got him a yeah.
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: Uh the nine. Now we're at the four or five game.
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: The nine and three Chiefs are at the three and
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: nine Broncos. It's December, so the Broncos are at home.
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: Kansas City by nine. Noin yeah, that's uh, I'm gonna
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Kansas City. I'm gonna lay the points.
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: I'll like Kansas City to cover. I think they bounced
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: back after last week. Yeah, this is one I don't
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: really have a problem laying the points with. I mean,
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: you get to you get to thirteen, you cover this point.
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: Russell Wilson, Um, I'll take the Chiefs man both ways.
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: Four twenty five, the four and eight Panthers are at
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: the seven and five Seahawks, Seattle by four and a half.
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: M mmmmmmmmm. Yeah, I'm gonna take Seattle at home. Um,
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: I'll lay the points. Coach of the Year Pete Carroll
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: in the conversation, do you think everybody's gonna hold up
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: Gino Smith now? Is like, you know, retread quarterbacks that
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: haven't like well, but Gino Smith, you know, like Baker Mayfield.
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: He'll definitely be an example of a guy who you know,
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: it's like kind of the unicorn. Every dog has his
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: day against. Couldn't happen to one guy. I mean, he's done.
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: He hasn't turned into give you a list of samnos
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: six years haven't necessarily worked out. Okay, But in his defense,
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: because he right now, Gino is the funnest quarterback to
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: watch in the league, most fun quarterback to watch. It
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: was a beautiful deep test. First I heard the funnest
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: first two. The most fun quarterback in the league right
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: now to watch is Gino Smith hands dak Why is
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: he more fun to watch than Mahomes or Alan Because
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: it shouldn't be happening, like I with Mahomes, and I
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: know that I'm watching what I'm expected. The trip. It's
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: a fun trip. It's a fun trip. Yeah. He's making
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: more downfield tight window it was than any quarterback in
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: the league. It's incredible. Okay, Yeah, and I I really
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: am enjoying it. And he's also been a backup for
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: many of these years because everybody gave up on him.
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: He was for gotten, absolutely right. So I think in
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: some ways it's a little bit different than a Baker
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: or something like that who has started air points like that.
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: I think that he's really just developed with the way
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: that people thought maybe he would coming out in the draft.
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: I like the Seahawks in this game obviously after that, yeah, yes,
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: I will take the Seahawks to win, but I will
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: take the points. Um. I think Carolina has played pretty
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: good defensively, and Seattle I think is kind of starting
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: to show that a little bit. Did I mean, what's
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: the running back is Kenneth Walker? I think is banged
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: up now he's doing a lot of this. Also, Yeah, yeah,
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the points as well. Twenty five Top
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: of the heap in the NFC South Buccaneers at six
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: and six are at the forty nine Ers eight and four.
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: San fran by three and a half. Interesting. Really, I
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: was just gonna say, really interesting game of you know,
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: four and nine is real good defense. You feel like
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: Tampa is just trying tooth and nail to get it
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: going and I just don't think it's gonna be enough
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: even with Brady this week, I'm going to take the Annoiners,
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: even with their with their backup guy. Yeah, I think
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: the forty nine Ers end up covering this game as well.
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: I just think that the Buccaneers are not actually that
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: good in the forty nine ers or a wagon. So
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: I think that's going to show out the offensive line
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: against the forty nine ers defensive line and continuing with
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: the incredible combination of ridiculous skill and luck, Tom Brady
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: gets to go to San Francisco and play Brock Pridy.
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: I will take San Francisco to win the game. I
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: will take the hook, and I will take the Bucks
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: to find a way to lose by a field goal.
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: I think if Jimmy we're playing, I don't think Tampa
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: would stand a chance in this game. Yeah, I mean
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: think about like Brady right like in the past. You
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: know the headline is, you know, Brady leeds come back
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: two touchdowns in the game. You think, oh, scores like
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: thirty two thirty and he scores seventeen points throwing two touchdowns.
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: You know, it's like the Buccaneers don't have an offense.
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: They don't. They just don't. I'm gonna have to go
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: with the forty nine ers here. I'm sorry. It's bizarre
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: too because they have weapons. Yeah, it's not you know,
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: Mike Evans, Chris. They just can't get it going. Yeah,
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: it's weird. That's one that it pains me to say.
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: As you know, I don't think he's playing very well. Yeah,
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: well he's not playing up to him. I know how
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: bad the offensive line has been. I've seen him with
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: bad offensive lines before. It didn't look I still say
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: that this is his last season? Yeah? Yeah? Is he
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: really that? Yeah? People think now that he's divorced. What
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: the hell is that girl? Now? I think I think
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: this is it? Anyway? Um, going around the internet, haven't
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: heard that one Sunday night on NBRY Sure. Uh, the
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: eight and four Dolphins are at the six and six
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: Chargers Black home dogs Miami by three and a half.
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: And and did Miami were they were at the forty
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: nineers last week? Right? Did they did stay out on
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: the on the West Coast? Do? I wonder? Do not
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: have that? What Mike Mike companions got thinking? Um, it's
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: an interesting AFC game. I'm gonna take Miami to bounce back. Um,
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: and I'm I'm not gonna take the hook. I'm gonna
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: lay the three and a half. Yeah, I can't trust
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: the Chargers, but this is gonna be football Twitter's favorite
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: game of the year, Like this is two of versus
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: Justin Herbert, which quarterback is actually good going head to
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: head social media QB. But I like the Dolphins to
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: cover this spread as well, just because I think they're
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: better teams. I'm taking Miami both ways too. M I
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: just feel like the Chargers just don't have enough, Like
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: I've watched a handful because they're always on it four obviously,
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: so you catch it's they just don't have enough options. Yeah,
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: their downfield receivers have really dropped off. Like Josh Palmer
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: is like an enormous part of that offense. He's you know,
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: he's good, like third of fourth guy. But Keenan Allen's
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: not the same guy. Mike Williams has hurt all the time.
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: Keenan Allen caught a crosser in the game last week
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: that I think, like last year, would have been a touchdown,
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: and he just can't run. Yeah, I mean miss like
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: eight weeks with a hamstring for God to see his reports.
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: I'll take Miami, but I'll take those points. Paul Okay
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: duly noted the hoof. I'm gonna I'm gonna take it,
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: all right. It's a sin uh Monday night. We didn't
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: have to skip over anything this week. The six and
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: six New England Patriots are at the four and eight
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: Arizona Cardinals Patriots by two two. A lot of respecting it.
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: That's really screwing up my score after just um, I
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: think this game is kind of a coin flip coming down.
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the Patriots to win. I'll say, uh,
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: let's say twenty three twenty just to make it fit
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: the but I think it's a low twenties kind of game.
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: Maybe need some special team scores. I just I'm not sure.
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: They got a lot of things that I think are
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: going to challenge the Patriots in ways that they had
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: troubles with the last few years. And I think their
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: their backs are against the wall. They're gonna just kind
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: of probably play loose and go for it. So I
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: don't know. I think this is gonna be a real
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: nail biter right down to the end. I am with
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: you on the nail biter. This game, to me, comes
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: down to who wants it like, who actually cares about
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: winning this game? Because the Cardinals are fourign eight, they're
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: not going anywhere, their coach might be on the outs,
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: and the Patriots their season is obviously very much in
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: the balance as well. So which team actually comes out
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: and plays hard and wants to win this game, I
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: think it's going to win it. I like the Patriots.
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: I think twenty seventeen kind of similar to Mike low
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: scoring in the twenties type of game. Yeah, I really
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: think this game is a lot like the way Evan
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: just talked about. One team I think has a possibility
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: of not really being all that emotionally invested in the
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: outcome of the game. And I'm not sure which one
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: that will be, but I think that might happen. I
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: think if you just looked down on paper and you
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: matched up personnel, I think there's a lot of reasons
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: to pick the Cardinals. And that's why I'm going to
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: do it. Not because I think the Patriots are going
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: to lay an egg, but to me, it's more about
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: Arizona not laying an egg. I think that's the path
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: for the Patriots to win. Games nowadays is like weather
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: or the other team just not being equipped to do anything,
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: and that could happen. Arizona has done it many times.
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: Evans talked about it a lot like their offense looks dysfunctional.
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: I think it's been better when the principal pieces are
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: in place, and that will be the case this week.
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: They'll have Hopkins, Brown and Murray look seemingly at reasonable health.
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: Twenty four, twenty Arizona. I think I'm six and six
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: picking the Patriots. That would be that would be my guess. Yeah,
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: my guess is you are ten and seven last year, right,
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: and seven and nine the year before. I mean, I'm
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: just that's off memory, just going off the top of
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: my head. But in a show of a lack of confidence,
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: I am picking the Patriots. But I'm taking the points
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: thirty to twenty nine. Thirty to twenty nine. Patriots score
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: thirty in this game, and do not cover. Holy smokes,
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: Patriots score thirty in this game, then start, I say
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: to just someone more more thing to highlight with Paul.
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: You brought it up. I think I mentioned it too.
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: Just I think this is a really big game for
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: the Patriots that they lose this game. You wonder you're
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: staying out there. What's the buy in to Evan's point
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: going to look like after that? So I just I
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: think it's crazy. I don't want to see this. I
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: don't want to see this happen. If the Patriots lose
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: this game, I do not believe they will win another
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: in twenty twenty two. WHOA really? Okay? Are you okay
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: with that? Am I okay with it? No? I have
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: to do a show for it every but but my
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: point is that we have a lot of people I
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: know would be that want the draft pick at this point,
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: like does it really matter going from like eighteen to twelve?
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: That's my point that that's my take on it. Du welthough,
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: I mean you could make an argument that it could.
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: I mean, didn't Miami go from twelve into the top
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: ten to get Jalen Waddle? Yeah? I mean I suppose
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: you could make an argument. Now we're talking, there is
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: no jal Waddle in this draft. I'll just talk myself
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: into what you're You're a Simmons guy from the USC Patriots,
