- 0:00Time now for back to the basics in healthcare with balance life chiropractic. And
- 0:03I've got the biggest turkey of them all. I have doctor Harley. How
- 0:06you doing, Hey, John, I'm doing great. Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow.
- 0:10Oh my gosh, I can't like it. Seems like it's snuck up so
- 0:12fast this year and you guys are doing a half day today. Yeah,
- 0:15it's traveling, so we get to able to get somewhere being like three in
- 0:20the morning, drive safe and have fun. And let's talk a little bit
- 0:24about that because there's probably more than one person listening right now that's also going
- 0:27to be like traveling, and they're going to be around family and they're going
- 0:30to be eating a whole lot of stuff. So this time of year,
- 0:32there's some things that we should be thinking about health wise, shouldn't we.
- 0:35Yeah, So let's talk turkey, right see, I love it all the
- 0:39puns. Yeah, So this time of year, Turkey kind of gets a
- 0:42bad rap, right, trip to Fan. Yeah, that's that darn trip
- 0:46to fan in the Turkey. The thing is, Turkey doesn't have any more
- 0:49trip to Fan in it than anything else that you're probably eating. Yeah,
- 0:53it gets blamed for everything, Yes, because you know, everyone's like,
- 0:56it's a trip to fans fall and falling asleep, or taking that my taxes
- 0:59were late three years ago. Turkey's fault. They get blamed for everything.
- 1:02Maybe not quite there at fault for that one, but so yes, the
- 1:04trip to fan does make you sleepy, but you're not eating enough of it
- 1:08that that's the real culprit. You know, Think about how much food are
- 1:12you eating when when you sit down at that Thanksgiving table, you've got all
- 1:17the fixings. You got a heaping pile of food, potatoes, cravy,
- 1:21solly, go back for seconds, even though your stomach's like hit of pie.
- 1:26There's always room for pie. See, I've been like marathon people that
- 1:29do marathons, you know how they don't just start out running a marathon.
- 1:32They start out running a little bit, and they get more and they get
- 1:34to the point where they're conditioned for it. Look at me, I am
- 1:37finally conditioned for tomorrow. I'm I'm I'm at my optimum fighting weight right now
- 1:44for Thanksgiving peak performance. Turkey, my stuffing. Everybody else all excited about
- 1:49that. They're like, oh boy, I'm afraid I'm going to gain upon
- 1:52I'm like, I've gained all those bounds. And that's the other thing too,
- 1:55is people are like, oh, this is going to ruin my waistline.
- 1:57It's one meal out of the entire year. Yes, we have a
- 2:00couple of them lined up in the next month or two. But you know,
- 2:04if you're really due diligent to it the rest of the year, the
- 2:07holidays aren't going to completely ruin everything. You know, go and work.
- 2:09Make sure we work out Saturday because you're still probably going a food come on
- 2:14Friday. So a little tip if you're going to the gym, in those
- 2:16little water bottles, you can put gravy in there too, and just squirt
- 2:20the gravy. It looks like you maybe that's not what you want. No,
- 2:23I can't imagine wanting to do that. I'm just teasy anyway. So
- 2:27really, yeah, the sleepiness really comes from the amount of food that we're
- 2:30eating, because our stomach's like, oh, we got to digest all this,
- 2:34so we put everything else in low power mode, kind of like when
- 2:36your phone's battery is almost dead, your low power mode shuts off all the
- 2:39other things. So yeah, if we go into like a sleep our body
- 2:43get to digest a little bit better. Nice. It's the same with like
- 2:46when we get the meat sweats. Oh yeah, it takes more work to
- 2:49digest that protein. So your body turns up the heat a little bit to
- 2:53help reduce you know, the work is going to take to break that down.
- 2:57So what would be some good advice if somebody doesn't want to have to
- 3:01be sleepy tomorrow, so just eat less? Yeah, I watch your portion
- 3:05sizes, you know, maybe take a little bit of everything and then decide.
- 3:07That's what I always do is I always take a little bit of everything
- 3:09and then I figure out what I like the most to go back for seconds
- 3:13for. I do that at the phase too. I try like a little
- 3:15dab of this, little dab of that, because you know, otherwise he
- 3:16gets definitely I didn't like that. I want to waste stomach space on something
- 3:20I don't like as much. So, you know, watching how much you're
- 3:23eating, you know, maybe pasting it out throughout the day. I don't
- 3:25know, that'd be kind of weird, Like eat a little bit here,
- 3:28a little bit there, a little bit there throughout the day. But turkey
- 3:30for breakfast, I mean that actually happens for a while afterwards so you know,
- 3:36you eat so much food Thursday and then Friday Saturday you're shopping it all
- 3:39off, so it evens out. See, and I'm not one of those
- 3:43people. I know there's people out there to do that, but you're not
- 3:45the five am. I'm the I'm the getaway driver. I drop Heidi and
- 3:49her mother right at the door, and then I sit in the car.
- 3:51They text me and let me know they're ready, and I'm up and go.
- 3:53I am the I'm the son in law of the year for that.
- 3:55So gotcha. So if somebody would like to get some advice from you about
- 4:00chiropractic, whether it's you know, we talk turkey today, but you know
- 4:03that's probably not what they're gonna be asking about. If they'd like to get
- 4:06themselves in a little better shape, because we've got these things called resolutions coming
- 4:11soon, and that's a big resolution people wanting to feel better. So if
- 4:15they'd like to start that ahead of time, how do they get a hold
- 4:16of It's not a bit. This is a great time you have to really
- 4:18start thinking about your health. One deductibles are paid up. You know,
- 4:21hsas will need to be used up unless they roll over. Not everyone's do
- 4:26that. If you didn't know chiropractic, you can use your hsas for that.
- 4:30So this is a really great time of the year to get started with
- 4:31a chiropractor because, especially if your initial upfront with new exams and stuff like,
- 4:35that's usual a little more spending. So that's a good time to use
- 4:38that insurance to help offset that. So how do I get this started?
