- 0:00Speaker 1: All Star Toyota presents Off the Bench with Jacob Hester
- 0:04Speaker 1: and Matt Flynn.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Let's go from a championship backfield to your morning drive.
- 0:09Speaker 3: Ham'sday, Hester and Hester got it, Fia.
- 0:13Speaker 4: Your locks in to Off the Bench.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Well's control from the Live from the Mercedes Benz of
- 0:21Speaker 1: Baton Rouge Studio. Here's Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:33Speaker 5: Welcome in OTV one oh four five ESPN Baton Rouge.
- 0:37Speaker 5: Here on this Thursday morning, Jake, Alandra and Tata here
- 0:43Speaker 5: with you. No Flynn, but no pictures either of him,
- 0:52Speaker 5: so a little surprised by that. We got one picture
- 0:57Speaker 5: of these custom T shirts that they made where he's
- 1:00Speaker 5: looking like an idiot, so par for the course. But
- 1:03Speaker 5: that's all. It's all we really got. We got an
- 1:05Speaker 5: airport beer picture and that picture.
- 1:08Speaker 6: So speaking of the T shirt, is that his face
- 1:11Speaker 6: cropped onto somebody or did he actually have hair like that?
- 1:15Speaker 7: Like that you had hair like that?
- 1:16Speaker 8: I mean, I didn't remember because we were talking about
- 1:18Speaker 8: I like had found this whenever we were making the
- 1:21Speaker 8: graphic that we're gonnaounce whatever.
- 1:22Speaker 4: I found this like picture of him when.
- 1:24Speaker 8: He was with the Jets, And yeah, he mustache and
- 1:30Speaker 8: like we were making fun of him.
- 1:31Speaker 7: We pulled the picture was hanging out of his head.
- 1:35Speaker 7: A little bit of Yeah.
- 1:37Speaker 4: He was like, oh that was when I had the
- 1:39Speaker 4: man bun situation.
- 1:40Speaker 5: I was like, it wasn't very New York pluscious man
- 1:45Speaker 5: bun like, it was kind of like Ratty and Bun.
- 1:48Speaker 7: That's what he had, what he was rolling with.
- 1:51Speaker 5: Fine, So uh, yeah, he's out.
- 1:53Speaker 7: He'll be out today, he'll be out tomorrow. It's okay.
- 1:56Speaker 5: We got it held down here and laid out the show. Yo,
- 2:00Speaker 5: got a big show. Very excited about today's show. Kind
- 2:02Speaker 5: of going a little bit of everywhere. Talk a lot
- 2:05Speaker 5: of football with Connor, Munchies with Chef, obviously, baseball with Jay.
- 2:11Speaker 7: Ryan McGee like covers Omaha.
- 2:14Speaker 5: Every single year, and you know how Ryan is, like
- 2:16Speaker 5: he does like a deep dive into like the history
- 2:18Speaker 5: and the culture and like all the things surrounding Omaha.
- 2:21Speaker 5: So very excited for that conversation. And then when Justin
- 2:26Speaker 5: Moore joins us he is a Arkansas fan. He is
- 2:30Speaker 5: a hog. Now he didn't marry somebody from Louisiana. She
- 2:34Speaker 5: started out an LSU fan, but he converted her. But
- 2:36Speaker 5: it's Okay, we're gonna talk a little trash with Justin.
- 2:39Speaker 5: Maybe make a bet. So any suggestions you have put
- 2:43Speaker 5: inside the chat, anything for a bet now, just know
- 2:46Speaker 5: whatever the bet is, I'm probably the one that's got
- 2:49Speaker 5: to do it if LSU doesn't win, So don't make
- 2:51Speaker 5: it too crazy. But we'll come up with something whenever
- 2:54Speaker 5: we have him at.
- 2:55Speaker 7: Nine point thirty.
- 2:55Speaker 8: What about if LSU wins, he has to wear an
- 2:59Speaker 8: LSU sh shirt or jersey at his next concert and
- 3:02Speaker 8: post it on Instagram, or he.
- 3:05Speaker 6: Just has to come do a show down here Justin.
- 3:07Speaker 6: It's been too long, man.
- 3:08Speaker 7: He was here last year.
- 3:11Speaker 5: He's a march.
- 3:14Speaker 4: It was like May because it was Cajun country.
- 3:15Speaker 5: Okay, so that's why I remember when whenever he was here,
- 3:17Speaker 5: I was not here. We're trying to link up and
- 3:20Speaker 5: didn't feel that long ago. So last year makes sense,
- 3:23Speaker 5: all right. So if he does that, if he has
- 3:24Speaker 5: to wear an l s U shirt on stage, which
- 3:26Speaker 5: I do like that, trying to think what the equivalent
- 3:29Speaker 5: would be for me, Oh, would I have to wear
- 3:32Speaker 5: an Arkansas shirt here? No? At SEC media Day? Yeah,
- 3:39Speaker 5: that's a lot, and you have to.
- 3:42Speaker 4: Call the hogs.
- 3:46Speaker 5: That's not that bad at.
- 3:49Speaker 4: SEC media Day.
- 3:50Speaker 7: That's bad.
- 3:50Speaker 6: Do you know who would be elite calling the hogs?
- 3:54Speaker 6: Hunt Palmer Hunt would be I could just see Hunt
- 3:57Speaker 6: as an Arkansas fan going all out all in the Hogs,
- 4:00Speaker 6: like that's him.
- 4:02Speaker 7: I don't know that Hunt would appreciate that.
- 4:05Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 4:05Speaker 4: He went full yell later he did. I forgot what Probably.
- 4:13Speaker 5: That's probably why I get this clap and the whole deal. Okay,
- 4:16Speaker 5: so we'll see, we'll see what the bet ends up being, Landra,
- 4:20Speaker 5: how we doing? You know, nothing like spending your night
- 4:23Speaker 5: at AutoZone.
- 4:24Speaker 4: I don't even know, guys, Like my life being me
- 4:29Speaker 4: is so exhausting. I don't even know.
- 4:31Speaker 8: Like my car died again last night and I had
- 4:35Speaker 8: to take it to AutoZone, and then they tested the
- 4:38Speaker 8: battery and the alternator and he said that both were fine.
- 4:40Speaker 5: So yeah, And I was telling you, it's like almost
- 4:42Speaker 5: like you want something to be wrong because then you
- 4:45Speaker 5: kind of know, all right, well here's the issue. I
- 4:47Speaker 5: can fix it. And he's like, no, they're all good.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Cool.
- 4:51Speaker 8: My car is just not starting sometimes great. Yeah, yeah,
- 4:54Speaker 8: I mean started.
- 4:55Speaker 5: This morning, and it started yesterday obviously when you left here. Yeah,
- 4:59Speaker 5: but then you go work out out, you come back
- 5:01Speaker 5: and doesn't start right tight.
- 5:03Speaker 8: So yeah, awesome, super cool. Yeah I like that a
- 5:08Speaker 8: great time. Yeah, but other than that, life's great.
- 5:14Speaker 5: Yeah, Tate, you said you got to be at work
- 5:17Speaker 5: late tonight. Not not late.
- 5:19Speaker 6: I'm just we're doing a FR the next two days to.
- 5:24Speaker 7: Uh, I don't know.
- 5:26Speaker 4: I don't know where Paul's at. But Matt is on
- 5:28Speaker 4: his way to New York.
- 5:29Speaker 7: I knew that.
- 5:29Speaker 5: No, I thought he's gonna maybe he's in Boston to
- 5:32Speaker 5: watch the Yankees.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Okay, so it's a okay, so he's going to Boston.
- 5:35Speaker 7: To watch the Yankees Red Sox.
- 5:37Speaker 8: And then so Moose is hosting, so I'll be doing
- 5:42Speaker 8: audio and Titay is doing video.
- 5:44Speaker 6: So get this, I got audio today, I'm doing I mean,
- 5:48Speaker 6: I got video today. I'm doing audio tomorrow.
- 5:51Speaker 7: Have you tell that in a long time for a FR?
- 5:54Speaker 5: Yeah, well, at least yeah, Moscone is not hosting. Like
- 5:58Speaker 5: he'd yell at you, brat you a little bit. Let
- 6:00Speaker 5: you know how bad you are at your job. It's true.
- 6:03Speaker 5: Mostly just get mad at itself. He'll just start hitting
- 6:06Speaker 5: his head.
- 6:07Speaker 6: It'll be like, it's my fault. I got this more
- 6:08Speaker 6: on to.
- 6:09Speaker 5: Come exactly like apiate, Yeah, no question about it. So
- 6:12Speaker 5: at least you don't have that situation.
- 6:16Speaker 6: We got the we got the grass cut yesterday too.
- 6:18Speaker 6: We beat the rain, big day for you guy.
- 6:22Speaker 7: Monarchs? Were they on?
- 6:24Speaker 5: No, you own air monarchs, There's no doubt mine.
- 6:26Speaker 6: I actually don't.
- 6:27Speaker 5: Whatever.
- 6:29Speaker 6: No, these were These were a pair of aces that
- 6:33Speaker 6: I've had like eight years. They got like a hole
- 6:36Speaker 6: in the toe. Those are the grass cutting choose.
- 6:38Speaker 5: Uh, you might want to cover that up. I mean,
- 6:40Speaker 5: like part of cutting the grass. Certainly when you push
- 6:43Speaker 5: mo like you're gonna have some things thrown back at
- 6:45Speaker 5: you for sure. Okay, it's probably why you have a
- 6:47Speaker 5: hole in the toe already.
- 6:49Speaker 6: They stay outside though, like we're good.
- 6:51Speaker 5: Yeah, those ain't coming in the house. Uh rsp one
- 6:55Speaker 5: two one eight. Inside the chat says Jake, you got
- 6:57Speaker 5: to wear the foam hog hat.
- 6:59Speaker 7: Oh, I feels like a step too far.
- 7:01Speaker 5: I'd be if I wear a shirt and I'm calling
- 7:04Speaker 5: the hogs in front of all my sec brethren, that
- 7:06Speaker 5: feels like that would be enough. Now is the bet
- 7:09Speaker 5: going to be just this one like Solo game? Or
- 7:13Speaker 5: is it going to be who makes it farther in Omaha.
- 7:17Speaker 4: Let's make it who makes it further?
- 7:20Speaker 2: All right?
- 7:21Speaker 6: Because like yeah, like okay, because if Arkansas beats l
- 7:24Speaker 6: Shoe loses their next two and LSU goes on to win,
- 7:27Speaker 6: like that, Arkansas.
- 7:28Speaker 5: Reallys of LSU wins a national championship, just like you
- 7:33Speaker 5: didn't probably want to wear a LSU shirt if Arkansas
- 7:36Speaker 5: finally wins a national championship. All right, so we'll format it,
- 7:39Speaker 5: we'll get it all together. Uh, we'll present it to
- 7:42Speaker 5: Justin at nine point thirty when he comes on with us.
- 7:45Speaker 5: So all right, so we do have a bunch to
- 7:48Speaker 5: get to. So let's go ahead and get this thing started.
- 7:53Speaker 1: It's time to get glowing. Courtesy of Go Flow ivy spa,
- 7:56Speaker 1: where hydration vitamins and a summer ready glow are always
- 8:00Speaker 1: on tap now for starters, all.

- 8:19Speaker 5: is right on Jefferson at near Bocash. Book your appointment
- 8:22Speaker 5: today and get ready for the weekend. Look, I think
- 8:26Speaker 5: we all know what this weekend is going to call
- 8:28Speaker 5: for So go ahead, I mean, go in before, go
- 8:31Speaker 5: in after. Enjoy yourself, relax and get hydrated. Summer is
- 8:36Speaker 5: here in this Louisiana heat, as we know, is no joke.
- 8:41Speaker 5: All right.
- 8:41Speaker 7: So the thing that I wanted to do right here
- 8:43Speaker 7: off the top.
- 8:45Speaker 5: LSU football television schedule, all right, because I would say,
- 8:51Speaker 5: and I'd argue that we're probably the place that cares
- 8:54Speaker 5: the most about kickoff times. We don't want to play
- 8:58Speaker 5: a lot of games in the sunlight. We certainly don't
- 9:01Speaker 5: want to play any home.
- 9:02Speaker 7: Games in the sunlight.
- 9:04Speaker 5: I am not Big Ten Bob who likes to play
- 9:08Speaker 5: marquee games at brunch. That is dumb. That makes no
- 9:11Speaker 5: sense to me. And I want to go out there
- 9:14Speaker 5: and have the full experience of an all day tailgate.
- 9:18Speaker 5: Let that thing buzz up to an eleven before you
- 9:20Speaker 5: kick it off under the lights in Tiger Stadium. I know,
- 9:25Speaker 5: Like I've been on social media and there's so many
- 9:27Speaker 5: like former Big ten players, current Big ten players, people
- 9:29Speaker 5: are like, nothing's better than a noon kickoff and then
- 9:32Speaker 5: you can go.
- 9:33Speaker 7: Out to the bars afterwards.
- 9:34Speaker 5: It's dumb, No, you just tailgate all day and then
- 9:37Speaker 5: you go to it, and then you still go to
- 9:39Speaker 5: the bars afterwards, because no big game should ever be
- 9:43Speaker 5: kicked off while pancakes and waffles are still being served. Okay,
- 9:47Speaker 5: so that's what we look for, all right. So some
- 9:50Speaker 5: of these we already knew, but we'll go.
- 9:52Speaker 7: Down the full list.
- 9:53Speaker 5: Elandre Tate, if y'all want to react to one, certainly,
- 9:56Speaker 5: just jump in here. We know at Clemson gonna be
- 9:59Speaker 5: on ABC. It's going to be a six thirty pm
- 10:02Speaker 5: local kick. Week number two versus a La Tech that's
- 10:06Speaker 5: going to be on ESPN and the SEC Network plus
- 10:09Speaker 5: six thirty again versus Florida. Right, remember an early early
- 10:15Speaker 5: Florida game. That one's typically in October. It is going
- 10:19Speaker 5: to be the third game of the year, September thirteenth,
- 10:23Speaker 5: at home, ABC, six thirty pm Local kick. Thank god,
- 10:28Speaker 5: that game always needs to be under the lights when
- 10:31Speaker 5: it's the Tigers and Negators.
- 10:34Speaker 6: Love that, like the two that I think of two
- 10:36Speaker 6: thousand and seven obviously, and then twenty nineteen with Kyle Trast,
- 10:40Speaker 6: Kyle Pitts and them or yeah here, like every every
- 10:42Speaker 6: Florida game I think of at home at night at night.
- 10:45Speaker 5: Yeah, when Jaden goes off at night. You're twenty nineteen.
- 10:48Speaker 5: The one you're talking about, it was at night. Go
- 10:52Speaker 5: all the way back to our game in O seven.
- 10:53Speaker 5: That game was at night. We played them at home
- 10:55Speaker 5: during the day in O five and we beat them,
- 10:58Speaker 5: And it just doesn't feel the same when you play
- 11:00Speaker 5: that team and you beat him during the day. Now,
- 11:02Speaker 5: the one that TDP set the rushing record, I didn't
- 11:06Speaker 5: care when that was being played.
- 11:07Speaker 7: That was awesome. That was incredible. That was at eleven am.
- 11:11Speaker 7: It was early.
- 11:12Speaker 5: It was I know, I think it was I think
- 11:13Speaker 5: it was noon. Okay, it was like a noon kick
- 11:16Speaker 5: or whatever. Uh And they re encounter about forty seven
- 11:19Speaker 5: straight times and playing tight end and nobody could stop it.
- 11:23Speaker 7: It was.
- 11:24Speaker 5: It was incredible football rotica right there running encounter and
- 11:27Speaker 5: they knew it was coming and they couldn't do anything
- 11:29Speaker 5: about it.
- 11:31Speaker 7: And this big, like you know.
- 11:33Speaker 5: Pretty in his uniform edge rusher that like thought he
- 11:37Speaker 5: was really really good, and by the end out he's
- 11:39Speaker 5: like tapping out, like please stop running this play towards me.
- 11:44Speaker 5: Then we got the the Tay Table versus Southeastern on
- 11:48Speaker 5: the SEC Network's Trouble six kickoff, and then okay, you
- 11:56Speaker 5: got at Old Miss that's gonna be on September the
- 11:58Speaker 5: twenty seventh. That is going to be a flex game.
- 12:02Speaker 7: So flex games can.
- 12:03Speaker 5: Be two thirty three, thirty five seven, right, so all
- 12:09Speaker 5: those essential time by the way, So it could be
- 12:12Speaker 5: a day game, but not going to be the noon game.
- 12:15Speaker 7: Same situation.
- 12:18Speaker 5: Versus South Carolina at home, that's going to be a
- 12:20Speaker 5: flex game, so one of those windows, but again not
- 12:23Speaker 5: a noonkick. Now at Vanderbilt, that is going to be
- 12:27Speaker 5: an early kick.
- 12:28Speaker 7: That is going to be one of those brunch time games.
- 12:31Speaker 5: And LSU fans last time you went there, you sold
- 12:36Speaker 5: them out of beer.
- 12:37Speaker 7: But just be careful.
- 12:38Speaker 5: This is going to be an early boy, probably gonna
- 12:40Speaker 5: be a little hot there in Nashville. That's a trip
- 12:43Speaker 5: that a lot of LSU fans are all with. Every
- 12:46Speaker 5: every away team for Vanderbilt is gonna make that trip
- 12:48Speaker 5: Nashville boom, and we all know that. So if you're
- 12:52Speaker 5: going to go to that one, go to go flow,
- 12:56Speaker 5: get some my high and get hydrated. But I don't
- 12:59Speaker 5: mind that one being early. It's like it's on the
- 13:01Speaker 5: road whatever.
- 13:02Speaker 6: So I prefer the road games at eleven AM a lot.
- 13:05Speaker 5: Now I'm working and calling the games.
- 13:07Speaker 6: Yeah, well just because everybody says, okay, well it's eleven am.
- 13:11Speaker 6: The home crowd's not in it. Yeah, that's my point.
- 13:14Speaker 6: Like I'd prefer to playoff road one early.
- 13:18Speaker 5: Texas A and M at home that's going to be
- 13:20Speaker 5: on October twenty fifth, that's going to be in that
- 13:23Speaker 5: same flex time that we talked about with Ole Miss
- 13:26Speaker 5: and South Carolina at Alabama, that one is going to
- 13:29Speaker 5: be at night, So you're going to get a primetime kickoff.
- 13:32Speaker 5: No surprise there, that's just what that game typically always is.
- 13:36Speaker 7: Versus Arkansas, the.
- 13:37Speaker 5: Only early game you're going to have at home that
- 13:41Speaker 5: is going to be in the eleven am or a
- 13:44Speaker 5: noon you know kick that's going to be an early
- 13:46Speaker 5: one in Tiger Stadium against the Razorbacks. So the only
- 13:49Speaker 5: one you have because then it goes to Western Kentucky
- 13:53Speaker 5: that's actually going to be a night game, and then
- 13:55Speaker 5: at Oklahoma is in that flex spot as well. So
- 13:59Speaker 5: only two early games at Vanderbilt versus Arkansas.
- 14:04Speaker 7: It could be worse. It could be worse.
- 14:08Speaker 5: I don't love any of those early kicks like that
- 14:11Speaker 5: at home, but if you only get one, it's against Arkansas,
- 14:14Speaker 5: that game has been played early before. As long as
- 14:19Speaker 5: it's not one of the Marky ones, as long as
- 14:20Speaker 5: it's not Florida, as long as it's not Old miss
- 14:23Speaker 5: as long as it's not Alabama, I'm okay with that
- 14:25Speaker 5: one one early.
- 14:26Speaker 6: You're gonna get one, Yeah, one early home game because
- 14:28Speaker 6: Vandy's on the road. Like has that ever happened? Maybe
- 14:34Speaker 6: a few times, not in recent history. So again you
- 14:37Speaker 6: usually get two or three.
- 14:38Speaker 5: Yeah, you could get some day games, you could get
- 14:41Speaker 5: some of those two thirty games.
- 14:42Speaker 7: But again, the only.
- 14:44Speaker 5: Early game, right, the only like eleven am situation you're
- 14:47Speaker 5: going to get at home is Arkansas.
- 14:50Speaker 7: So that is kind of the TV schedule.
- 14:52Speaker 5: For LSU football, I mean just not even really looking
- 14:56Speaker 5: at the TV portion of it, but just kind of
- 14:59Speaker 5: looking at what it is. Plays out pretty nicely for you.
- 15:03Speaker 5: You look at your home games, you look at your
- 15:05Speaker 5: away games, you look at how their format is.
- 15:07Speaker 7: What we always look at.
- 15:09Speaker 5: It's going to be every opportunity for LSU to make
- 15:12Speaker 5: that run that we're talking about. All Right, we will
- 15:15Speaker 5: step away for the first time. We've got connor O
- 15:18Speaker 5: Garris set to join us in about fifteen minutes from now.
- 15:21Speaker 5: We'll break down LSUE football SEC football with Connor.
- 15:25Speaker 7: Will do it right here when we jump back on
- 15:27Speaker 7: OTB off the bench.
- 15:31Speaker 5: All right, So we told you about the two pictures
- 15:35Speaker 5: that Flynn sent us, Well, they both involved dosakis.
- 15:39Speaker 7: The first one was rude.
- 15:42Speaker 5: He was enjoying an airport beard during the show while
- 15:46Speaker 5: we were here on air, nice frosty mug right next
- 15:51Speaker 5: to the dos equis ice cold rude. And then the
- 15:54Speaker 5: shirt that we're talking about, it was with him with
- 15:57Speaker 5: this ridiculous haircut and you know it's like four Yeah,
- 16:01Speaker 5: it was like fortieth birthday theme shirt and he was
- 16:03Speaker 5: on the golf course and guess what he was holding
- 16:05Speaker 5: in his hand?
- 16:07Speaker 7: A dose sakis? Right, So that's not just lip service here.
- 16:10Speaker 5: It is something that we enjoy and it's always a
- 16:12Speaker 5: good time to enjoy a dose sekis right, Telgate beer Elite, right,
- 16:18Speaker 5: Ballpark Beer Elite. If you're in Omaha, for sure, beach beer,
- 16:22Speaker 5: Lake beer, studio beer. Maybe go for dose drink do
- 16:27Speaker 5: sekies drink responsibly.
- 16:43Speaker 1: From players to legends, Hester and Flynn breakdown LSU football
- 16:47Speaker 1: like only champions can.
- 17:03Speaker 5: All right, Welcome back in OTV one oh four five
- 17:06Speaker 5: ESPN Baton Rouge. KK. You linked a couple of Saint
- 17:09Speaker 5: stories here in the doc, one being Saints are interested
- 17:14Speaker 5: in receiver Gabe Davis, and my goodness, what a fall
- 17:17Speaker 5: from grace he had. He was like this great, not
- 17:22Speaker 5: secondary piece, because I felt like he was more than
- 17:24Speaker 5: that in Buffalo with Josh Allen and certainly like a
- 17:28Speaker 5: trusted piece. And then he sounds like this big deal
- 17:30Speaker 5: to go to Jacksonville where it just was not great,
- 17:34Speaker 5: and now you're starting him. And I hate this part
- 17:37Speaker 5: of the NFL because now it's like he's done, can't play,
- 17:41Speaker 5: can't sign that guy.
- 17:42Speaker 7: It's like.
- 17:45Speaker 5: Some of these franchises. I don't know why we don't
- 17:47Speaker 5: look at him and be like, that's just a terrible
- 17:48Speaker 5: Franchise's just a bad franchise. It's poorly ran to coaching,
- 17:53Speaker 5: just revolving door. Nothing really goes right there. They'll have
- 17:59Speaker 5: a one off every now and again. It's like a
- 18:02Speaker 5: player like that signed a big deal not that long ago,
- 18:06Speaker 5: goes to a bad franchise and then perception is he's
- 18:10Speaker 5: just done. I can't play, and I hate it. And look,
- 18:13Speaker 5: I'm biased here because I see former players, former teammates.
- 18:16Speaker 5: I've seen This happen to a lot of guys. But Tata,
- 18:21Speaker 5: what would the Saints be getting with a Gabe Davis, Like,
- 18:26Speaker 5: what would it add to the receiver room? I think
- 18:28Speaker 5: we'd had another deep threat.
- 18:29Speaker 6: If you remember two years ago, this is how he
- 18:32Speaker 6: got that big contract. It was a playoff game for Buffalo.
- 18:36Speaker 6: He hit three touchdowns in that game. Yep, I believe
- 18:38Speaker 6: it was. That was the overtime game with the Bills
- 18:42Speaker 6: and the Chiefs that the Chiefs ultimately won. But I
- 18:45Speaker 6: mean nobody could cover Gave Davis in that game, and
- 18:47Speaker 6: that was a good Chiefs defense. He's twenty six years old,
- 18:50Speaker 6: and your point, everyone's going to say, oh, well, he
- 18:53Speaker 6: can't play anymore. He had a bad year. He had
- 18:55Speaker 6: a really bad quarterback last year. Trevor Lawrence was awful
- 18:59Speaker 6: last year. Chris Kirk wasn't good. Christian Kirk got picked
- 19:02Speaker 6: up by the Texans. I think he's a good receiver.
- 19:04Speaker 6: It was really Brian Thomas and that was it for
- 19:07Speaker 6: that Jags offense. Like, yeah, this is a young guy.
- 19:10Speaker 6: He hadn't had terrible injuries. I mean there's been a few.
- 19:14Speaker 6: He's twenty six, like probably getting pretty cheap.
- 19:18Speaker 5: Well, so he's receiving more than eleven million dollars from
- 19:22Speaker 5: the Jags, making a one year veteran minimum deal likely
- 19:26Speaker 5: so for his next destination. And uh so the Jags
- 19:30Speaker 5: are paying his tab right again, he signed a massive
- 19:32Speaker 5: deal with them.
- 19:34Speaker 7: And by the way, shout out to Ross Shacks.
- 19:35Speaker 5: And I saw that little nugget on louisianasports dot net
- 19:38Speaker 5: where you can check out all your latest Saints news, like,
- 19:41Speaker 5: I yeah, if you're gonna sign in for a VET minimum,
- 19:44Speaker 5: if the Jags are picking up the tab on him.
- 19:47Speaker 5: We talked about it during the draft process, like this
- 19:49Speaker 5: Saints roster and this Saints team they need some juice
- 19:54Speaker 5: at receiver because you have a Chris lave who And
- 19:57Speaker 5: this isn't like trying to be funny, just is what
- 20:00Speaker 5: it is.
- 20:02Speaker 7: Like he's one hit away from who knows.
- 20:04Speaker 5: I mean, he's had so many concussions, so that could
- 20:07Speaker 5: be a situation where if he goes down again, Well,
- 20:10Speaker 5: what do you really have? Will you have Rashid Shaheed?
- 20:12Speaker 5: Remember Rashid Shaheed, incredible athlete? What do we always talk
- 20:16Speaker 5: about with those incredible track athlete type guys? A lot
- 20:19Speaker 5: of hamstrings, a lot of muscle, Pulls, so he hasn't
- 20:22Speaker 5: been able to get on the field consistently. You sign
- 20:25Speaker 5: a Brandon Cooks and so you got a veteran presence there.
- 20:28Speaker 5: But I would just say, because of the past health
- 20:31Speaker 5: of the receivers that you have, do you really want
- 20:34Speaker 5: to be showing up again with uber drivers as your
- 20:37Speaker 5: receivers on Sundays? That's what you did last year. These
- 20:40Speaker 5: guys that were like out of football games and they
- 20:43Speaker 5: came back. I mean, and bub might be one of
- 20:46Speaker 5: the more exciting of the name, right and the Kevin
- 20:49Speaker 5: Austin juniors, Cedric Wilson junior coming back, Dante pett Is
- 20:53Speaker 5: coming back. My god, so many times y'all made me
- 20:56Speaker 5: listen to Mason Tipton facts a year ago.
- 20:59Speaker 7: Okay, so if you can get a veteran guy.
- 21:03Speaker 5: That, sure, he's not coming off his best year, but
- 21:06Speaker 5: I think you need to look at where he was
- 21:08Speaker 5: in Jacksonville, what that franchise has been working mount does
- 21:13Speaker 5: he still have it? And look, he's got a different
- 21:16Speaker 5: body type. It's a different body type receiver built really
- 21:20Speaker 5: more like a running back than a receiver. So, and
- 21:23Speaker 5: I say that in like a positive way, because he's
- 21:25Speaker 5: really good on the edge, run blocking, but also he's
- 21:27Speaker 5: good tough catches over the middle. I think you can
- 21:31Speaker 5: throw him some noiles, you can throw them some bubbles,
- 21:33Speaker 5: some different things. You don't really have that receiver now,
- 21:36Speaker 5: like you got speed, you got a Lave, you got
- 21:39Speaker 5: Brandon Cooks, you got Rashid Shahied, you don't have the
- 21:43Speaker 5: receiver that we're talking about, right, So you go ad
- 21:46Speaker 5: somebody again. Another team is playing paying the eleven million,
- 21:50Speaker 5: you're paying the veteran minimum, which is basically a little
- 21:54Speaker 5: bit more than a rookie minimum.
- 21:55Speaker 7: So there's no real investment here.
- 21:59Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 21:59Speaker 7: I think it makes all sense in the world for
- 22:00Speaker 7: the Saints.
- 22:01Speaker 6: Yeah it does, And so many people are gonna say, oh,
- 22:03Speaker 6: well you still need a big bodied guy. What did
- 22:06Speaker 6: we hear you signed the exact same receiver again, to
- 22:08Speaker 6: your point, he plays a lot different, but also like
- 22:11Speaker 6: who this is what you have Chris Olave who's injured
- 22:15Speaker 6: all hell, Brandon Cooks who's now over thirty, and Rashijia
- 22:19Speaker 6: Head who's really a number three and not a two.
- 22:21Speaker 6: Like I'm not saying I'd rather have him over everybody,
- 22:24Speaker 6: but I'd rather have him over Brandon Cooks at this
- 22:27Speaker 6: point in his career, like Cooks couldn't stay healthy. He's
- 22:30Speaker 6: thirty one years old, he's declined for three years in
- 22:32Speaker 6: a row. Yeah, Hey, Davis had one bad season. Nobody
- 22:34Speaker 6: thinks he's washed.
- 22:36Speaker 5: Yeah, and uh, look he is six two two twenty five,
- 22:39Speaker 5: So I mean he's a big guy. Yeah, I know
- 22:42Speaker 5: he is not kind of in the mold of those
- 22:44Speaker 5: other receivers that we're talking about, that short slender receivers. Again,
- 22:49Speaker 5: incredible athletes, incredibly fast, but six two two twenty five
- 22:52Speaker 5: is different than what we're talking about there. So look,
- 22:55Speaker 5: it makes, uh, in my opinion, a lot of sense
- 22:57Speaker 5: for the Saints if they do end up him.
- 23:00Speaker 7: You add him to a room that needs protection.
- 23:03Speaker 5: It needs guys that so for when your guys do
- 23:06Speaker 5: miss games, because history tells us Chris lave Rashi, Chihid,
- 23:10Speaker 5: Brandon Cooks they're going to miss games, you add a
- 23:14Speaker 5: veteran guy in there that has been through the fire,
- 23:17Speaker 5: that understands what the NFL is all about, and.
- 23:21Speaker 7: You don't allow what happened last year to happen to you. Again.
- 23:26Speaker 8: Well, christ Olave also doesn't have Derek Carr throwing hospital
- 23:29Speaker 8: balls at him this that is true, so we might
- 23:31Speaker 8: have him for a little longer than last season. But
- 23:34Speaker 8: this is kind of why I don't really have faith
- 23:37Speaker 8: in the Saints this season though. Like I know, everybody's like, oh,
- 23:39Speaker 8: we got Tyler Shuck Spencer Ratler or whatever, but we've
- 23:42Speaker 8: been so focused on the quarterback room that nobody really
- 23:45Speaker 8: talks about how bad the rest of the roster is.
- 23:50Speaker 8: There's like some some bright spots, but I just I don't.
- 23:52Speaker 6: Know, Well, to your point, I have faith. We hope
- 23:55Speaker 6: the other two quarterbacks are good. They just have a
- 23:57Speaker 6: different casing in hospital balls tree.
- 24:00Speaker 8: You know, maybe Spencer rollers out there trying to give
- 24:05Speaker 8: Chris Alave CT two.
- 24:06Speaker 5: I don't know. Well, I mean he's unfortunately, he's probably
- 24:09Speaker 5: going to have that already. Yeah, but we're just talking
- 24:11Speaker 5: about the severity of what.
- 24:13Speaker 3: We're talking about.
- 24:14Speaker 4: Bad. I feel like really bad for Chrystal Lave.
- 24:17Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 24:17Speaker 5: I mean if Chris A. Lave was with.
- 24:21Speaker 4: Antua, yeah, I mean that's that was sad.
- 24:24Speaker 5: Yeah, But I was thinking more like if Chrystal Lave
- 24:26Speaker 5: was with like a better different situation, yeah, because he's
- 24:30Speaker 5: already had some pretty solid seasons. If he was with
- 24:33Speaker 5: you know, somebody not Derek Carr and not what the
- 24:36Speaker 5: Saints offensive line has been over the last couple of years,
- 24:38Speaker 5: protecting whoever the quarterback is and time to throw the
- 24:41Speaker 5: football down the field. His numbers I think would be
- 24:45Speaker 5: up there with some of the best.
- 24:46Speaker 6: Right, Here's here's a team that doesn't really have weapons
- 24:48Speaker 6: on the outside. What if he was with the Kansas
- 24:50Speaker 6: City Chiefs. Yeah, Chris Olave's all pro caliber player.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:54Speaker 7: With the Kansas City.
- 24:54Speaker 5: He's with my Bushley Bolts and Herbert. Right before they
- 24:58Speaker 5: got lab McConkie, they were just begging for somebody to
- 25:01Speaker 5: be the number one receiver. Yeah right, and now their
- 25:04Speaker 5: number one receiver is you know, a five to nine
- 25:07Speaker 5: and eighty five pounds white guy. Yeah, so he's baller,
- 25:12Speaker 5: hell of a player. But they could have used him
- 25:14Speaker 5: as well. So let's hope that Chris Olive, with a
- 25:17Speaker 5: new quarterback, with a new coach, with a new coordinator,
- 25:20Speaker 5: with all new around him, can play a full season
- 25:24Speaker 5: and put up the numbers that we think he is
- 25:25Speaker 5: certainly capable of putting up. All right, we will step
- 25:29Speaker 5: away when we come back, going to be joined by
- 25:31Speaker 5: Connor O Garas Saturday down South, right, here on o
- 25:35Speaker 5: T beat.

- 27:29Speaker 5: are you living?
- 27:30Speaker 7: I'm living well.
- 27:32Speaker 3: I didn't realize it was R and B Thursday. I
- 27:34Speaker 3: would have come more prepared with Boys to Men takes
- 27:38Speaker 3: ye somehow still underrated, even though that that era missed
- 27:41Speaker 3: me a little bit. But I like R and B Thursday.
- 27:45Speaker 3: I feel like that's a genre that I think we
- 27:48Speaker 3: need to get back to a little bit more.
- 27:50Speaker 7: Thank you. Yeah, that's why I do it. It's for
- 27:52Speaker 7: the people.
- 27:53Speaker 5: Vois to Men certainly is on the playlist here. We'll
- 27:57Speaker 5: place some certainly, some usher, genuine, some jagged d some
- 28:02Speaker 5: jotasy like all that will be played here today.
- 28:05Speaker 7: Just so you know.
- 28:07Speaker 3: That's that's good to know a late nineties susher too,
- 28:09Speaker 3: not like, hey, I've made it big and I'm you know,
- 28:12Speaker 3: putting out like into the odds. I like real late
- 28:16Speaker 3: nineties usher. It hits home in a different way.
- 28:19Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm so proud of you right now. It's a
- 28:22Speaker 7: great take.
- 28:23Speaker 5: I typically do like your takes, and so I'm not
- 28:25Speaker 5: surprised by it. One of the things I want to
- 28:28Speaker 5: get your take on immediately right here, because I need
- 28:32Speaker 5: to know this information. When should what time slot should
- 28:36Speaker 5: a marquee football game be played?
- 28:40Speaker 3: It's a good question. I think context is key, because
- 28:45Speaker 3: lord knows, Ohio State fans are just incensed that big
- 28:48Speaker 3: noon kickoff exists and they want to have every single
- 28:52Speaker 3: Ohio State game starting at noon. And fans are like,
- 28:56Speaker 3: what the heck? Like this is just ridiculous, even though
- 28:59Speaker 3: it's their pockets with cash as we speak. But I
- 29:02Speaker 3: think an ideal college football game is played at night.
- 29:07Speaker 3: I think it's played at night. I think it's a
- 29:09Speaker 3: seven PM. I think that there are certain justifications for
- 29:14Speaker 3: three thirty. Obviously, three thirty on CBS two thirty in
- 29:18Speaker 3: your central time zone was a staple for two plus
- 29:23Speaker 3: decades that we obviously hold very near and dear in
- 29:27Speaker 3: college football. Is it still that way anymore? I don't
- 29:31Speaker 3: think it is. I really don't. I do think that
- 29:34Speaker 3: if you're talking about a premieer college football game, and
- 29:38Speaker 3: what is most important? What is the thing that you
- 29:40Speaker 3: turn on TV and feel like it is biggest? It
- 29:44Speaker 3: is Chris Fowler, It's Kirk Herbstreet, It's Holly Row. It's
- 29:48Speaker 3: this big time type atmosphere where it feels like anything
- 29:52Speaker 3: can happen.
- 29:53Speaker 7: That's at night.
- 29:54Speaker 3: That's at night for me.
- 29:56Speaker 7: That's a correct answer. Well done, sir.
- 29:58Speaker 5: And you know, look, I do a radio a lot
- 30:00Speaker 5: of former Big Ten athletes, and you know they pushed
- 30:04Speaker 5: the noon kickoff. I'm like, look, no big game should
- 30:07Speaker 5: be at breakfast time. Like I need that game to
- 30:11Speaker 5: marinate on campus like all day long, Like I need
- 30:14Speaker 5: that build up to just continue to build. And look,
- 30:17Speaker 5: the tailgates are still there at that time. Hell, the
- 30:19Speaker 5: tailgates for it, like a big time SEC game are
- 30:22Speaker 5: there on Thursday night, right, And so like you wake
- 30:25Speaker 5: up early, you tailgate, and you walk around campus and Connor,
- 30:28Speaker 5: it's like you can feel the electricity of the game,
- 30:31Speaker 5: and by like the hour, it just intensifies and just
- 30:35Speaker 5: continues to build. And then you get to kickoff and
- 30:38Speaker 5: if you've handled yourself right, if you've hydrated properly, you're
- 30:41Speaker 5: gonna enjoy a nice three and a half four hour
- 30:44Speaker 5: game that you've been waiting for all day long.
- 30:48Speaker 3: I'm a Big ten grad, so I can say this.
- 30:51Speaker 3: It's one true.
- 30:53Speaker 5: Look.
- 30:53Speaker 3: I remember games at Indiana wherein Indiana would play gosh,
- 30:59Speaker 3: who was it, Oh, it was ball State. They had
- 31:01Speaker 3: ball stayed on like a Thursday or Friday night or
- 31:04Speaker 3: something like that, and that game by the time you
- 31:08Speaker 3: got to kick off at seven thirty because Indiana never
- 31:11Speaker 3: had night games ever. It's just not something you do.
- 31:14Speaker 3: And in Big ten country later in the season, the
- 31:17Speaker 3: weather the way that it changes, you need to be
- 31:19Speaker 3: able to have those daytime games so that fans aren't
- 31:21Speaker 3: miserable watching teams that aren't going to be playing for
- 31:23Speaker 3: national championship. And so at Indiana, that game over the
- 31:27Speaker 3: course of the day. You're right, it progressed. It progressed,
- 31:30Speaker 3: it progressed, and it created one of the wildest tailgates
- 31:33Speaker 3: I've ever been to. You could probably find it in
- 31:35Speaker 3: deep dark corners of the Internet that I don't care
- 31:37Speaker 3: to go to anymore. But there is just something to
- 31:40Speaker 3: be said for that, as opposed to look, I went
- 31:42Speaker 3: to tons of Indiana games where they were starting at noon,
- 31:47Speaker 3: and one of the biggest games I went to was
- 31:49Speaker 3: against the Michigan Nari Robinson team, and that build up
- 31:53Speaker 3: was just not quite there and it was gray. Everything
- 31:56Speaker 3: felt slower, and it just didn't quite have this sort
- 32:00Speaker 3: of gravitas that a seven thirty game did. And that's
- 32:04Speaker 3: a weird thing to say. For whatever reason, though, our
- 32:07Speaker 3: eyes are just trained to process it that way. There's
- 32:10Speaker 3: a reason why when we watch the NFL, it just
- 32:13Speaker 3: feels like such a better product when these games are
- 32:17Speaker 3: being played at night. I think that's something that the
- 32:18Speaker 3: SEC has always done so much better than any other conference,
- 32:22Speaker 3: is having these games at night and really saying like,
- 32:26Speaker 3: do we want to have this game at eleven local
- 32:28Speaker 3: time or noon? Because I just think there's something about
- 32:32Speaker 3: it that looks better to the viewer when it's being
- 32:34Speaker 3: played you know, under the lights.
- 32:36Speaker 5: Yeah that I agree, Well said there, And we looked
- 32:39Speaker 5: at LSU schedule a little bit earlier and kind of
- 32:40Speaker 5: went down only going to be one like truly early
- 32:44Speaker 5: noon type kickoff and that's going to be Arkansas at home.
- 32:46Speaker 5: So LSU schedule looks like LSU fans would want it
- 32:50Speaker 5: to look like Connor. There was a question going, you know,
- 32:53Speaker 5: around the internet and at a couple of different people
- 32:55Speaker 5: reach out to me and they ask for my answer,
- 32:58Speaker 5: and then of course I made some fans mad, because well,
- 33:01Speaker 5: that's just what happens in the SEC when you disagree
- 33:03Speaker 5: with somebody.
- 33:04Speaker 2: It was.
- 33:06Speaker 5: Start bench or cut, Nuss Meyer, Lagway, and Arch, all right,
- 33:14Speaker 5: so tough tough, right, So Nus, Lagway and Arch start
- 33:21Speaker 5: bench and cut.
- 33:22Speaker 7: And I guess it started with our guy CD in Roman.
- 33:24Speaker 5: They were doing the SEC network and they both went start, Lagway, bench,
- 33:31Speaker 5: Nuss cut Arch Manning. I would just flip Lagway and
- 33:36Speaker 5: Nus and then roll with the rest.
- 33:40Speaker 3: I'm not pandering when I say this, because I mean, look,
- 33:43Speaker 3: I'm already on record saying I think Nuts is the
- 33:45Speaker 3: best returning quarterback in the SEC. I have Lsu winning
- 33:48Speaker 3: a national championship, so I'm not gonna I'm not gonna
- 33:50Speaker 3: bench Nuts. Obviously, I have to start in US in
- 33:53Speaker 3: this situation, So I would start in US. I would
- 33:56Speaker 3: bench Arch so that he can watch get reps figure
- 34:00Speaker 3: some things out, and I would only cut Lagway, who,
- 34:04Speaker 3: by the way, I still have Lagways my number three
- 34:06Speaker 3: quarterback in the SEC. He's one of the players I'm
- 34:08Speaker 3: most excited to watch in all of college football. I
- 34:11Speaker 3: am fully in on DJ Lagway. The only thing is
- 34:15Speaker 3: he spent an entire off season going into this first
- 34:18Speaker 3: full pivotal season as a starter, not throwing the football,
- 34:22Speaker 3: and there are still people wondering is that shoulder right?
- 34:25Speaker 3: Is he gonna be okay? And is he going to
- 34:27Speaker 3: be in a spot where he just doesn't have it
- 34:31Speaker 3: necessarily from the jump and Florida is left scrambling. That
- 34:34Speaker 3: would scare me. Obviously, there's always injury risk with all
- 34:37Speaker 3: of these guys, But knowing that that's kind of baked
- 34:40Speaker 3: in there, I would probably have to bench someone like Lagway,
- 34:44Speaker 3: and I would take more of a chance on Arch.
- 34:47Speaker 3: But I mean, Lagway is the more proven player, if
- 34:50Speaker 3: he's healthy, Who's going to be the better player day one?
- 34:53Speaker 3: I'll take Dj Lagway. I'll take care at Innsmeyer over
- 34:55Speaker 3: Arch obviously, But it's a great question, and Leonora Sellers
- 34:59Speaker 3: you could absol throwing the Yeah, you get into the
- 35:03Speaker 3: stuff with him about a is Mike Shula gonna be
- 35:06Speaker 3: the guy that's gonna kind of maximize his abilities? You
- 35:09Speaker 3: just kind of don't really know but it is a really,
- 35:12Speaker 3: really interesting question that surely just upsets a lot of people.
- 35:16Speaker 5: I mean, this is really the year of the quarterback
- 35:18Speaker 5: in the SEC for me. I mean the three guys
- 35:20Speaker 5: that we just mentioned. You mentioned Leonora's sellers.
- 35:22Speaker 2: There.
- 35:23Speaker 7: You can go Jeo Materi at Oklahoma.
- 35:25Speaker 5: I know you're not quite as high on him as
- 35:27Speaker 5: maybe some others, but still, you know, a really good
- 35:29Speaker 5: quarterback at Washington State. We'll see what he can do.
- 35:32Speaker 5: At Oklahoma. You got Diego Pavia. And sure it's not
- 35:35Speaker 5: NFL polished quarterback play, but I'll be damned if if
- 35:39Speaker 5: I went into battle if I didn't call that guy first, Like,
- 35:41Speaker 5: I don't know where you fit in, but I'm calling
- 35:43Speaker 5: Diego to be in there with me. And so like,
- 35:46Speaker 5: there is some highly intriguing quarterbacks and what is wild
- 35:49Speaker 5: is like, so we're talking to all these quarterbacks Georgia,
- 35:53Speaker 5: Ole Miss, Alabama, like some of the heavy hitters have
- 35:57Speaker 5: quarterback questions. Now we think that those guys are going
- 36:01Speaker 5: to play well, Like we think that, oh, well, Ole Miss,
- 36:04Speaker 5: it doesn't really matter who the quarterback is because Lane
- 36:06Speaker 5: Kiffin's coaching them. But like some of the teams that
- 36:09Speaker 5: have had the most success are the ones that had
- 36:11Speaker 5: the quarterback questions in the SEC and the ones that
- 36:13Speaker 5: are trying to punch up. I feel like they have
- 36:15Speaker 5: quarterbacks figured out.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Yeah, it's extremely rare. I mean, South Carolina has famously
- 36:20Speaker 3: never had an all SEC quarterback at season's end, and
- 36:24Speaker 3: you could argue Lenora Selis is one of the five
- 36:25Speaker 3: best quarterbacks in all of college football returning. I mean,
- 36:28Speaker 3: for ever LSU during the twenty tens, it was where
- 36:32Speaker 3: are they going to find a quarterback? And now, seemingly
- 36:34Speaker 3: on a yearly basis, they have their guy Florida for
- 36:38Speaker 3: the longest time, you know, with different iterations. Obviously they
- 36:42Speaker 3: felt comfortable with Kyle Trask returning or something like that,
- 36:46Speaker 3: but to have a guy like Lagway, Yeah, it is
- 36:49Speaker 3: different for Texas to have all the guys that they
- 36:51Speaker 3: missed out on in their state in the twenty tens
- 36:54Speaker 3: and then to now be in this position where finally
- 36:56Speaker 3: the arch Manning era has arrived. You're right, it does
- 37:00Speaker 3: feel like a bit of a change in the guard.
- 37:02Speaker 3: I'll be interested if it's a changing the guard at old.
- 37:04Speaker 3: Miss Austin Simmons is really interesting. He's nineteen years old
- 37:09Speaker 3: and he's graduated college, which is the new Ryan Williams
- 37:12Speaker 3: is seventeen. Stat of it's crazy to.
- 37:17Speaker 7: This crazy guy.
- 37:18Speaker 5: Hey, the day I graduated high school. So the very
- 37:21Speaker 5: day I graduated, on May the eighth of two thousand
- 37:24Speaker 5: and four, I turned nineteen high school. The day I
- 37:29Speaker 5: graduated at high school, I turned nineteen. And this guy,
- 37:32Speaker 5: I mean, so it is pretty impressive.
- 37:35Speaker 3: He's going to be one of those guys that we're
- 37:37Speaker 3: going to be talking about so much. And I'm already
- 37:39Speaker 3: talking about him a lot because of some of those factors.
- 37:43Speaker 3: You know, LSU fans remember remember Walker Howard really well,
- 37:47Speaker 3: and for people that covered Ole Miss last year, when
- 37:51Speaker 3: Austin Simmons earned the backup job and moved ahead of
- 37:54Speaker 3: Walker Howard, it was kind of like this, wait a minute,
- 37:56Speaker 3: what how is that happening already? When Walker how it
- 38:00Speaker 3: came in as this really decorated transfer, that thinking was
- 38:03Speaker 3: he was gonna red shirt, essentially have a red shirt
- 38:06Speaker 3: type season. I read he'd already red shirted, but behind
- 38:08Speaker 3: Spencer Sanders and behind Jackson Dart and then Austin Simmons
- 38:11Speaker 3: is just a better player, and it was pretty undeniable.
- 38:14Speaker 3: And that's obviously why Walker Howard hit the portal at
- 38:17Speaker 3: season's end last year and Austin Simmons did what he
- 38:20Speaker 3: did most, notably against George when he delivered ole Miss's
- 38:22Speaker 3: biggest drive of the season. But the floor for ole
- 38:25Speaker 3: Miss quarterbacks has been at least you know, twenty twenty
- 38:27Speaker 3: two Jackson Dart and twenty twenty Matt Corral were at
- 38:30Speaker 3: least middle of the pack quarterbacks in the SEC. So
- 38:34Speaker 3: there's so much potential with Austin Simmons, and I think
- 38:36Speaker 3: he's someone that people are really really excited to see
- 38:39Speaker 3: in Oxford.
- 38:40Speaker 5: What about the weapons there for Old Miss? Because I
- 38:42Speaker 5: was talking about them, and the defense is not going
- 38:45Speaker 5: to be the same, Like, I don't care who you
- 38:47Speaker 5: brought in. I covered the draft in Green Bay and
- 38:49Speaker 5: I swear we were saying defender ole Miss, defender Old Miss,
- 38:53Speaker 5: like when we were breaking down that somebody was getting
- 38:55Speaker 5: drafted from there. So the defense isn't going to look
- 38:58Speaker 5: the same offensively, You're right, I mean it's Lane Kiffen
- 39:02Speaker 5: with a quarterback. Is it going to be on the
- 39:03Speaker 5: same level of Jackson dar last year? Not out of
- 39:06Speaker 5: the gates, but maybe it can get there. But Logan
- 39:09Speaker 5: digs at running back like obviously we've seen him here
- 39:11Speaker 5: at LSU, like he's a good, solid running back, not
- 39:14Speaker 5: really a game changer. And then at receiver, man, you
- 39:17Speaker 5: know how big of a fan I am of Trey
- 39:19Speaker 5: Harris and when he was there last year, they were different.
- 39:21Speaker 5: When he went down with injury, like that was a massive,
- 39:24Speaker 5: massive hit for them. So what about the weapons Simmons
- 39:27Speaker 5: is going to be throwing to?
- 39:29Speaker 3: Cadinen Lee's a stud. He's something that needs to be
- 39:32Speaker 3: talked about more in the SEC. Is one of the
- 39:33Speaker 3: best returning receivers in the SEC. I think he's right
- 39:36Speaker 3: in that same exact year that Aaron Anderson is in
- 39:39Speaker 3: coming back this year, maybe right behind where Ryan Williams.
- 39:42Speaker 3: And I'm very bullish on Cam Coleman at Auburn, especially
- 39:46Speaker 3: the way that he finished last season, the former five
- 39:48Speaker 3: star recruit who will be entering year two. Those guys
- 39:51Speaker 3: are my four best receivers in the SEC. So Ole
- 39:53Speaker 3: miss still, even after losing Trey Harris, even after losing
- 39:57Speaker 3: Juice Wells, who didn't end up being the player that
- 39:58Speaker 3: they hoped she was going to be, still is one
- 40:01Speaker 3: of the best four receivers in the SEC. And then
- 40:02Speaker 3: they were active in the portal. They get a receiver
- 40:05Speaker 3: from the second option in Penn State's passing room behind
- 40:08Speaker 3: Tyler Warren. They get stribbling from Oklahoma State who put
- 40:11Speaker 3: up big numbers this past year with Bowman who is
- 40:15Speaker 3: Alan Bowman, who was in like year twelve at Oklahoma State,
- 40:19Speaker 3: and they have a really nice receiver room. The question
- 40:21Speaker 3: for ole Miss, though, is oddly the ground game. They
- 40:24Speaker 3: never figured it out last year. They never did. They
- 40:26Speaker 3: lose Quinn Shawn Judkins to Ohio State, and thinking as well,
- 40:30Speaker 3: ole Miss doesn't have to overpay for a running back
- 40:32Speaker 3: because this is link Kiffin just plugging Chuck. Bring Henry
- 40:36Speaker 3: Parrish back. That guy was here like four years ago.
- 40:38Speaker 3: Get him from Miami. Let's see, it'll work out just fine.
- 40:40Speaker 3: They never figured it out, and so I don't know
- 40:42Speaker 3: that they're going to figure it out this year. Diggs
- 40:44Speaker 3: hasn't been able to stay healthy. You guys know that
- 40:46Speaker 3: very well. And this is a team that has a
- 40:48Speaker 3: lot of questions on the offensive side of the ball.
- 40:50Speaker 3: They're not in the top one hundred and Bill Connolly's
- 40:52Speaker 3: percentage of returning offensive production, and I think it's going
- 40:55Speaker 3: to be very much feeling like a gap year for
- 40:57Speaker 3: oll miss, but the schedule sets up well on the schedules,
- 41:00Speaker 3: that's really really well, and it could be a.
- 41:02Speaker 5: Dark horse that does man the schedule for another year.
- 41:05Speaker 5: It's like, I don't know who owed you all favor,
- 41:07Speaker 5: but y'all cash it in and we'll see if it
- 41:10Speaker 5: can pay off for old miss Connor. You're the man.
- 41:13Speaker 5: We appreciate your time as always. You can go catch
- 41:15Speaker 5: Connor's work Saturday down South at cj Ogeret is the
- 41:19Speaker 5: handle on social media there.
- 41:21Speaker 7: I'm sure I'll catch up again with you very soon, sir.
- 41:24Speaker 3: Yeah, we're gonna be talking literally later today.
- 41:26Speaker 7: Figure. Yeah, that's what you know.
- 41:28Speaker 5: I was like as soon as like, I was like,
- 41:29Speaker 5: oh yeah, let's get Connor on the morning show talk
- 41:31Speaker 5: a little quarterbacks. And I was like, oh yeah, it's Thursday.
- 41:34Speaker 5: I'm going to talk to Connor twice. But you know what,
- 41:36Speaker 5: I still did it because I enjoy our conversations.
- 41:38Speaker 3: Sir. Hey can't get enough. We'll always talk ball twice
- 41:43Speaker 3: in the same day with you, man.
- 41:44Speaker 5: That's right, all right, see you later, literally, all right,
- 41:48Speaker 5: Connor Garre Saturday down South. He does, so he joins
- 41:51Speaker 5: my serious XEM show every Thursday, and you know that
- 41:56Speaker 5: one's obviously we're gonna go way more like totality at
- 41:59Speaker 5: the SEC. This was going to be a little bit
- 42:01Speaker 5: more LSU theme there, but one of my absolute favorites
- 42:04Speaker 5: to catch up with. All right, we will step away
- 42:07Speaker 5: one more break here in our number one. We do
- 42:10Speaker 5: have Munchies early today, So Munchies is going to be
- 42:13Speaker 5: at eight am, because you know we've got Ryan McGee
- 42:16Speaker 5: at nine, we've got Justin More at nine thirty. Of
- 42:19Speaker 5: course Jay Johnson at eight thirty, So Munchie's going to
- 42:22Speaker 5: be a little bit earlier today. So go ahead and
- 42:24Speaker 5: start to get some of those questions inside to buy
- 42:27Speaker 5: you for chat. We'll close out our one when we
- 42:29Speaker 5: come back here on OTB off the bench. All right, good,

- 44:04Speaker 1: is off the Bench with Hester and Flynn Matton, Rouge's
- 44:07Speaker 1: go to for all things Louisiana sports.
- 44:18Speaker 5: I got a lot of Gators mad yesterday and I
- 44:22Speaker 5: was like, look, I would start in us Meyer, i
- 44:24Speaker 5: would bench Lagway and I'd.
- 44:26Speaker 7: Cut Arch and like, oh you're such a homer.
- 44:28Speaker 5: I'm like, guys, well uh, but also like objectively, if
- 44:33Speaker 5: I'm looking at this and if I'm evaluating one through
- 44:37Speaker 5: four under two thousand yards played in twelve games, like
- 44:40Speaker 5: I know he didn't start all those. He played in
- 44:41Speaker 5: twelve games, twelve touchdowns, nine interceptions, the other one through
- 44:45Speaker 5: for over four thousand yards, completed sixty four percent of
- 44:49Speaker 5: his passes. Lagway was fifty nine percent of his passes
- 44:52Speaker 5: and through twelve interceptions and many many, me many more attempts.
- 44:58Speaker 5: I was like, this isn't being a homer. I love
- 45:01Speaker 5: DJ Lagway's game. I think he's tough as hell as well.
- 45:04Speaker 5: I'm not starting him over Garrett Neessmeyer. There's not a
- 45:06Speaker 5: quarterback in this country that I would start over Garrett Nessmyer.
- 45:10Speaker 5: Now we can have the conversation, like I will sit
- 45:13Speaker 5: here and we could debate Kate club Nick because I
- 45:15Speaker 5: think a lot of Kkklubnick. We could go over a
- 45:17Speaker 5: lot of quarterbacks. It's a great quarterback year. It's not
- 45:21Speaker 5: gonna be DJ Lagway, it's not gonna be arch Maning.
- 45:24Speaker 5: I actually will put Lenora Sellers probably in in that
- 45:28Speaker 5: group and top three quarterback and archies. You got to
- 45:30Speaker 5: show me. But I'm not starting anybody over nuss So
- 45:34Speaker 5: Florida Gators. You've y'all been mad at me for a
- 45:36Speaker 5: long time anyway, So what's a couple more of y'all
- 45:39Speaker 5: being mad at me when we come back to kick
- 45:41Speaker 5: off our number two little Munchies with Chef Michael Johnson
