A 50-year-old man from Center Point, Otis Lee Phillips Junior, died after a tense confrontation with police in Ensley last Wednesday. The call began reporting a man waving a firearm and trying car doors — which quickly escalated as Phillips reportedly fired shots at a home while knocking on doors. Officers arrived within minutes; one officer ordered him to drop the weapon, but Phillips moved toward the officer, who then fired, fatally wounding him. No one was injured in the community.
