- 0:13Get laced up.
- 0:14It's time for Bantor with the Boys.
- 0:29What's up everybody?
- 0:30Welcome back to another episode of Bantor with the Boys.
- 0:34Week 12 is come and gone.
- 0:37We are on to week 13.
- 0:39But first let me introduce my fellow podcaster here, Mr. Smelty.
- 0:43How you doing?
- 0:44How you feeling good, sir?
- 0:45Personally, I feel pretty nice, but I can't speak for all Vikings fans today.
- 0:51But I guess we'll touch on that a little bit later.
- 0:54Oh, why is that?
- 0:55Let's hear it a little bit right now.
- 0:56No, no, no, you can wait.
- 0:58All right, I kind of have my inkling there, but Smelty was able to even go to that game
- 1:02last night.
- 1:03So I'm sure it was fun, even though it did not get the result you did indeed want.
- 1:07Still recovering from getting Liddy McCitty, as the kids say.
- 1:11That is great.
- 1:12That is great.
- 1:13Well, brother, let's get into the slate.
- 1:15We had a longer football weekend with Thanksgiving having it, having, you know, been during the
- 1:21football week here as well.
- 1:23Do want to wish everybody a Thanksgiving.
- 1:24I hope everybody had a good time with friends and family, whoever you did decide to celebrate
- 1:28with.
- 1:29It's always a nice time to just, you know, sit back, be thankful and eat some damn good
- 1:33food.
- 1:34Amen.
- 1:35All righty.
- 1:36So the first game we're going to talk about is the game that kicked off the weekend on
- 1:39Thanksgiving.
- 1:40We had my Green Bay Packers travel to the Motor City, take on the Detroit Lions.
- 1:46Classic Thanksgiving Day game.
- 1:48Lions are always going to play and the other Packers do usually get that game as well.
- 1:52Going into this game, not a lot of betting faith in the Packers.
- 1:56The Lions were indeed a seven point favorite.
- 1:59Oh, those odds makers wrong, Mr. Smelsey.
- 2:04Packers ended up not squeaking this one out.
- 2:06It was a pretty dominant win, although it was only a seven point win at the end of the
- 2:09day.
- 2:10You know, I wasn't ever really worried or scared, which has not been a common theme
- 2:12this year for the Packers, but they did win 29-22.
- 2:17I'm sure you did catch this game as it was Thanksgiving.
- 2:19Hopefully did have the day off of work.
- 2:21But Jordan Love, man.
- 2:24Every time I sit here and say he's washed, not washed, he can't be washed if he were
- 2:28never great.
- 2:29But every time I sit here and say that there's something going on, he just comes out and
- 2:33proves me wrong, man.
- 2:35What a game by Jordan Love.
- 2:36Yeah, no doubt.
- 2:37I mean, like you said, they kind of just had control the entire game and Love looked really
- 2:42comfortable probably for the first time this season, really, like truly.
- 2:48And in front of a Detroit crowd that was ready to erupt for anything, especially when their
- 2:54team is doing so well this season.
- 2:57But to walk in there and get the job done, hats off to the Packers this week, to be honest.
- 3:02Yeah, and it was a game that hasn't really gone like a lot of the year has.
- 3:06The Packers jumped out, got the seven point lead.
- 3:10Then we got the Jonathan Owens fumble recovery for a touchdown.
- 3:14That was so immediately jumped out to a 14-0 lead.
- 3:16We're a second half team this year and that didn't kind of come to fruition this year.
- 3:20I mean, that's where it gave me a little bit of doubt was in the second half when we kind
- 3:24of let the foot off the gas pedal and the offense started sputtering a bit.
- 3:27Helpful with some Dan Campbell decision making in there as well.
- 3:31But let's talk a little bit more about J Love, man.
- 3:3322 for 32, so he had that nice good completion percentage, threw three touchdowns, didn't
- 3:38get sacked once, wasn't really pressured throughout the game too terribly much.
- 3:42And he had a quarterback rating of 125.5.
- 3:46So great game all around.
- 3:49He was spreading the ball out, Christian Watson got involved, had that nice long 53 yarder
- 3:53with the touchdown on the day as well.
- 3:56But I was very, very impressed with Jordan Love, man.
- 3:59Yeah, and like you said, he didn't really get a lot of pressure in his face that game,
- 4:05which again, maybe one of the first times this season, honestly.
- 4:08But the Lions didn't even get a sack on him, not a one, and only hit the quarterback allegedly
- 4:14four times.
- 4:15That's not enough.
- 4:17So Love finally had protection, you saw what he could do, the three tugs.
- 4:22He made plays with his legs again.
- 4:26I don't know, that was a great showing for Jordan Love.
- 4:30Christian Watson catching some balls, honestly.
- 4:325-7 on targets, man.
- 4:34That offense all around looked way better than we've seen off season.
- 4:39No, absolutely, absolutely.
- 4:41And on the other side of the ball, defense looked good throughout the game.
- 4:44Letting up 22 points, that's not great, but this Lions offense is pretty high powered.
- 4:48And Rashawn Gary.
- 4:49Dude, I was about to say Rashawn Gary, wow, what a game for him.
- 4:53What a game.
- 4:54Three sacks, this guy.
- 4:55Fumble recovery.
- 4:56And with the fumble recovery, yep, yep.
- 4:59And I wasn't a huge fan of him the first two-ish years.
- 5:02It was that first round pick.
- 5:04I thought we could have gone elsewhere with that pick, but he's proving to be a top tier
- 5:08edge threat in the league.
- 5:10And he's always in the quarterback's face.
- 5:12He's always in the quarterback's face.
- 5:14Yeah, no.
- 5:15I mean, he's obviously, I don't know, would you say he's the best player on the defense
- 5:20right now today?
- 5:23I always want to give it to Devondre Campbell, but.
- 5:26He's not the best Devondre Campbell is he?
- 5:27I mean, in my opinion, it's between, to be 100% honest with you, I think Quay Walker's
- 5:32playing better than Devondre Campbell right now.
- 5:34Quay Walker's a straight up athlete.
- 5:36That dude's all over the field.
- 5:37If the play's going away from him, you bet he's going to be damn close to making the
- 5:41play if somebody else doesn't.
- 5:42He's right there to clean everything up.
- 5:44He's so fast.
- 5:45He is.
- 5:46He really is.
- 5:47He's so athletic.
- 5:48He's so quick.
- 5:49He needs to make a little bit more to better decision making.
- 5:51But to me, it's Rashawn Gary or Jair Alexander.
- 5:54And Jair just, he's had a little bit of a down year.
- 5:57You know, no, a down year fight for Jair still makes him a top 15 cornerback in the NFL.
- 6:02You know, it's not like he's just a scrub now, but he's just not that that perennial,
- 6:06you know, top three corner in the league that I was expecting this year.
- 6:10And Carrington Valentine, Carrington Valentine has just been playing incredible on the back
- 6:14end.
- 6:15I touched on him last week, went out and showed it again this week, man.
- 6:19Like it's making the trade that we got rid of Rasul Douglas looking pretty damn good
- 6:23right now.
- 6:24Like, OK, so that's what I was just about to bring up.
- 6:26I mean, with the trade and all that shit, I mean, you're pretty you're comfortable.
- 6:30Does it make you more comfortable as the weeks go on here seeing Valentine being consistent,
- 6:36not just a one hit wonder, you know, obviously can't make that decision until I see who we
- 6:39draft with the pick we got.
- 6:40That's what we do.
- 6:41That's fair.
- 6:42You know, has it.
- 6:43What did you get?
- 6:44What was the pick again?
- 6:45There's a second round, if I'm not mistaken, was either second or third round right now.
- 6:48But I'm almost positive it was a second rounder.
- 6:50OK, but yeah, I mean, it's made it a lot easier.
- 6:54That's for sure.
- 6:56That's for sure.
- 6:57Yeah, I'm just talking about Quay Walker earlier.
- 6:59Another five tackles for me and the dude just all over the field.
- 7:02God, I love watching him play.
- 7:04Third rounder third rounder.
- 7:05OK, the Packers actually gave up a fifth rounder.
- 7:07Give up.
- 7:08Yeah, Douglas and a fifth rounder to get the third.
- 7:11We'll take that.
- 7:12That's not bad.
- 7:13But yeah, Jordan, sorry, Jared Goff, you know, he didn't look too bad in this game either.
- 7:16He did have the three fumbles, but a lot of that was, you know, the one the first one
- 7:21that Jonathan Owens recovered that was he was throwing the ball.
- 7:25He got hit and the ball came out.
- 7:26Not much you can really do on that one.
- 7:28But Sean Gary, two of those sacks were forced fumbles as well.
- 7:31So we had the sack fumbler fumble sack, you know, stripping their strip sack was what
- 7:34I'm trying to say.
- 7:35So it's what are you going to do when you got number 52 in your grill all game?
- 7:38No, for sure.
- 7:39And again, like, you know, the stars showed up for the Lions on offense.
- 7:43You know, Goff, the the dynamic duo in the backfield was OK.
- 7:47They weren't at their best, I would say, but they good enough to win the game for sure.
- 7:51I mean, not at their best.
- 7:53If any of the Packers running backs not at their best, we're averaging four point seven
- 7:56and four point nine yards nine yards per carry, brother.
- 7:59She that sounds like a packer problem.
- 8:02But I'm just I'm just saying seeing from what they've been doing these past few weeks, you
- 8:06know, obviously, and then Amon Ra with nine receptions for 95 yards, you know, Laporta
- 8:12up there, Jameson Williams.
- 8:15Who the hell is?
- 8:16Well, how do you say his first name, Califf, Califf, Califf, Raymond?
- 8:20He's a special cat.
- 8:21He's a returner.
- 8:22I'm thinking of Josh Reynolds.
- 8:23My bad.
- 8:24But OK, he's a returner.
- 8:25OK.
- 8:26Do you know anything else about that guy?
- 8:27He's a returner.
- 8:28He's quick.
- 8:29He's quick.
- 8:30He's quick.
- 8:31All right.
- 8:32Sounds good.
- 8:33He's a gadget player.
- 8:34He's a reception, so yeah, for him to have five targets is not very common for the Lions
- 8:39offense.
- 8:40You know, that's why I haven't heard of him before.
- 8:43But yeah, all in all, a good game for the Packers.
- 8:45Surprising game for me.
- 8:47Honestly, I figured the Lions would want to come out more dominant at home in front of
- 8:52their crowd on Thanksgiving.
- 8:53On Thanksgiving.
- 8:54It's their game.
- 8:56I just I don't know the little bit of the momentum the Lions are gaining in the second
- 9:00half and then Dan Campbell going for it on on their side of the field.
- 9:05Like that's just I don't know.
- 9:08Again, you didn't have a ton of momentum, but you were gaining it slowly.
- 9:12But it was there.
- 9:13And then as soon as you lost that, I mean, it was all gone.
- 9:16That was it for me.
- 9:17I was like, OK, well, that's it.
- 9:18And it ended up being that.
- 9:20But not only that, it's you.
- 9:23It's not only that he was even going for it.
- 9:25You're at your own twenty three at the point you're down twenty three, fourteen.
- 9:28Like if you're going to go through it in a fourth and fourth situation, don't run a fake
- 9:32punt your Dan Campbell.
- 9:34Everybody expects you to run a fake punt because that's what you've shown to do.
- 9:38Like at least have an uneducated good play call and go out and go for it.
- 9:42Right.
- 9:43Yeah, I agree.
- 9:44You're right.
- 9:45You're right.
- 9:46Like it's not the fact of going for it in that situation.
- 9:47It's the fact of that how they went about it and the execution of it, but mainly the
- 9:51play call.
- 9:52Yeah, I that one.
- 9:55True.
- 9:56Boggles my mind a little bit.
- 9:57But I think that's enough about the Packers Lions.
- 9:59Like I said, Packers came out on top.
- 10:00We're at a sit in that five and six.
- 10:02We're still in the hunt for the playoffs, which you asked me three weeks ago, I would
- 10:05say is not even a chance.
- 10:07And you know, I was kind of on the side of just lose all the rest of the games.
- 10:11But I don't know.
- 10:12I mean, we're not my bad.
- 10:14I still have one more question actually about the Packers.
- 10:16Go ahead.
- 10:17So last week you mentioned that every game that you've put your daughter and her Packers
- 10:21cheerleader outfit or something they've won.
- 10:25Did you put her in it this week?
- 10:26We did.
- 10:27We did.
- 10:28So we made the trick back to I'm originally from Madison.
- 10:30So we made the trip back to Madison as soon as we got there, put her in the Packers outfit.
- 10:33Game started shortly after that.
- 10:35And yeah, man.
- 10:36So so she's wearing it again next week.
- 10:38Then she's wearing it again next week.
- 10:40It didn't work.
- 10:41So no longer wanting.
- 10:42So no longer wanting to lose games now that there's other NFC North wildcard teams that
- 10:49are sputtering at the moment.
- 10:50I don't know.
- 10:51It's if Jordan Love continues the way he's playing the last two weeks, I want to see
- 10:57us continue.
- 10:58But at the end of the day, like, do you expect to get out of the first round?
- 11:01No, I mean, first round maybe.
- 11:04But like, we're not going to beat the Niners or the Eagles.
- 11:06And that's my pick to play in the conference championship.
- 11:09Could we beat the NFC South division winner?
- 11:11Absolutely.
- 11:12Yeah, right.
- 11:13I feel you.
- 11:14And if see if it's like that, well, we wouldn't play the Cowboys.
- 11:17Well, if we won the division, we might play the Cowboys.
- 11:19The Cowboys, I don't like our odds in that game with that offense and high hop Howard
- 11:22it is and even the defense.
- 11:24Yeah, they have some injuries, but they're still studs.
- 11:25Although the Cowboys in the playoffs aren't a good look lately either.
- 11:29That's true.
- 11:30So I don't know hypotheticals, hypotheticals.
- 11:33It's hard to say like, do we need the draft capital?
- 11:36Would I like a higher pick?
- 11:38Yeah, but I don't like what comes with that because that means you didn't have a successful
- 11:41season and at the end of the day, Love is proving to be a quarterback in the NFL.
- 11:45And, you know, I think I also need to tailor my expectations a bit just because I'm so
- 11:49used to Rogers.
- 11:50But if you look at the so I've seen this stat all over the place.
- 11:54But if you look at Rogers and Love through their first, I want to say it's 11 games,
- 11:59exact same padding passing yardage, exact same amount of touchdowns.
- 12:03Love has one more interception and their completion percentage are around two percent different.
- 12:06Wow.
- 12:07I have not seen that.
- 12:10That's interesting.
- 12:11Crazy.
- 12:12Now, again, we're not going to sit here.
- 12:13That's not me saying that, you know, Love is projected to be like Rogers.
- 12:16I don't think that'll ever be replicated again.
- 12:18But you're ordering a Jordan Love jersey now, probably.
- 12:20Can't do that.
- 12:21We haven't even picked up this guy's fifth year option dog.
- 12:25Although 10 is my favorite number.
- 12:27So if I were to get one, you know.
- 12:29Oh my God.
- 12:30But yeah, enough about the Packers Lions.
- 12:33Let's shift focus over to the Monday night game this week.
- 12:37We had for the record, I did pick the Packers.
- 12:40I didn't think the Packers going to win that game.
- 12:42I really didn't.
- 12:43But seven points is just too much with the way our defense is playing.
- 12:45And on Thanksgiving, it always gives you that extra juice.
- 12:48Smelty did take the Lions in that game thinking they would cover that seven points.
- 12:53So one up, one up for the good guys on that one.
- 12:56Let's shift focus to the Monday night game, a game that you witnessed firsthand.
- 13:00What a terrible fucking game to go to.
- 13:02One touchdown the entire game.
- 13:04The Vikings couldn't take it, couldn't come out on top.
- 13:07They were the three point favorite going into the game and the Bears won, kicking four field
- 13:12goals.
- 13:13Oh, yeah.
- 13:14Yeah, I mean, it was
- 13:16not a fun game of football.
- 13:20I mean, both defenses played well.
- 13:22You can say that they really did.
- 13:24I mean, the Bears came out and played great defense.
- 13:26I don't think the Bears played that great a defense.
- 13:28Dobbs is told.
- 13:29Yeah, we'll get to Dobbs.
- 13:33But I mean, the Vikings defense looked nasty.
- 13:36As always, Blitzen, probably 50 percent of the time, I'd say again, I'd have to look
- 13:40exactly.
- 13:41I mean, Flores is not afraid to send guys, so I love that.
- 13:44But it's just so frustrating as a Vikings fan because, you know, a couple of years ago,
- 13:48our defense was really good and our offense was crap.
- 13:50OK, well, now we have a somewhat decent offense, but now our, you know, defense is crap and
- 13:55now it's kind of switching again.
- 13:57And now the offense looked like shit last night, man.
- 13:59And Dobbs, the pastor, not capital N.O.T. not.
- 14:05Man, those four picks are rough.
- 14:07I mean, they were not where they needed to be, obviously.
- 14:11It's just I. I don't know.
- 14:14KOC has luckily the Vikes are on a bye week, so KOC has a decision to make.
- 14:18I mean, if Jaren Hall is ready to play the rookie that only made it too serious against
- 14:24Atlanta before he had this had his concussion, it was looking OK.
- 14:29Who do you start?
- 14:30I don't know.
- 14:31I guess I really have to see the bye week.
- 14:33I mean, JJ is expected to be back.
- 14:36So I don't know.
- 14:38But it's Madison again didn't do enough.
- 14:41But we know that.
- 14:42I wouldn't agree with that.
- 14:43Madison had 10 carries for 52 yards.
- 14:45He averaged five point two yards to carry.
- 14:47It is probably the most he's had and for an average the past few weeks.
- 14:51Feed him the ball.
- 14:52He was he was being productive in the first quarter, the second quarter.
- 14:54He was productively running the ball.
- 14:56So he wasn't like his typical this year.
- 14:58But you just stop feeding him the ball.
- 15:00It was also just too many three in outs.
- 15:03I mean, the offense could not get any momentum at all.
- 15:06And I mean, yes, four picks is going to really take that momentum away from you.
- 15:10But I mean, it was just more than that.
- 15:12The play calling seemed really elementary.
- 15:14And again, you know, you have Dobbs and there has only been there for whatever for weeks.
- 15:17But like no longer an excuse.
- 15:18That's what I'm saying.
- 15:19Three, three to four weeks in a system.
- 15:21You're learning that system for sure.
- 15:22So OK, so you as an outsider, non biased Vikings fan, obviously Dobbs two and two.
- 15:29Are those two weeks, those two wins just a factor of teams not game planning for him?
- 15:35You know, and now teams have been planning on it.
- 15:37Yes, the Denver game, you argue, could have been either way, honestly.
- 15:42But last night just showed straight up like the Bears game plan for it and shut him down.
- 15:46Yes, he threw bad passes through behind receivers.
- 15:49All of it.
- 15:50You saw it all.
- 15:51But what two and two right now for jobs?
- 15:53I think the game plan and aspect of it's huge.
- 15:56If you look at what the Bears did defensively right now, Dobbs didn't get outside the pocket.
- 16:00That's where Dobbs makes his place.
- 16:02Two rushes for 11 yards.
- 16:04He couldn't get outside and extend the plays.
- 16:06And then, you know, the occasions he did, he couldn't put the ball in the right spot.
- 16:09He didn't do anything with it.
- 16:10He couldn't put the ball in the right spot.
- 16:11You know, so it's two of the picks were deflections.
- 16:14You can make an argument whether that ball should have been caught or not.
- 16:17They weren't in the perfect spot, but they were catchable balls at the end of the day.
- 16:22But even there, you take those two picks away, he did.
- 16:25He still threw two picks, you know, he didn't still didn't look good.
- 16:28No, he didn't look good at all.
- 16:30His reads were just not great.
- 16:31I don't know.
- 16:32And you're not playing against a top tier defense.
- 16:35The Bears defense is Swiss shredded cheese.
- 16:37And it's not like and it's not like fields on the other side of the ball played better
- 16:40than him.
- 16:41He didn't outplay him.
- 16:42Fields didn't play that great either.
- 16:43First quarter, he looked great.
- 16:44Fields looked great.
- 16:45You know, he had a high completion percentage, but everything was two to four yards down
- 16:47field.
- 16:48He wasn't, you know, getting the ball down field at all.
- 16:51D.J. Moore was the only one he wanted to seem to target.
- 16:53The only guy that was getting open though, consistently all game.
- 16:56Co-comment was too, but again, it was all underneath.
- 16:58It was all underneath.
- 16:59Right.
- 17:00Your check down.
- 17:01Yeah, exactly.
- 17:02I mean, it but then but then, you know, at the end of the game, this frustrated the hell
- 17:06out of me.
- 17:09You get the fumble away from fields at the end of the game, like three minutes left or
- 17:12whatever, and then you proceed to go three and out again right there.
- 17:15What?
- 17:16I mean, the defense has given you all they can against a team that's already not good,
- 17:22but they're giving you everything.
- 17:24The Bears are trying to lose that game.
- 17:26That's what it felt like.
- 17:27You know, that's what it felt like.
- 17:28And the Vikings just kept shooting themselves in the foot.
- 17:30Even those four picks, they didn't capitalize on them.
- 17:32No, three.
- 17:33What did you say?
- 17:34Four field goals.
- 17:35Yeah, yeah.
- 17:36Unbelievable.
- 17:37Yes.
- 17:38I don't even have much else to say about my Vikings other than, like I said, KOC has some
- 17:43decisions to make and he refused to name the starter for the first game out of the bye,
- 17:49which I can't remember who the hell that even is right now.
- 17:52But he didn't he didn't name a starter.
- 17:54Oh, that's right.
- 17:55Yeah, you're right.
- 17:56Writers.
- 17:57So we'll see with an expected J.J. back.
- 18:00I don't know.
- 18:01I think you got to stick it with Dobbs.
- 18:03I mean, you think so?
- 18:04He's he's shown flashes and it's I don't know.
- 18:07That's tough.
- 18:08You know, if they were playing like Philadelphia, San Francisco, even like New Orleans and he
- 18:13played like he did, I would have a lot better time accepting it just because of how good
- 18:17their defenses are.
- 18:18Accepting accepting accepting his play that in this previous game, just because of how
- 18:21good their defenses are.
- 18:23The Bears have a bottom five defense in the league.
- 18:25Right.
- 18:26So there's no excuse for how he played.
- 18:28I just I don't get it.
- 18:29Like I don't even know how many sacks the Bears had.
- 18:33I didn't.
- 18:34He was under pressure a lot, but he was able to get out of some of it.
- 18:37Yeah, two sacks.
- 18:38But even when he he had the chance to get out, he still didn't do anything with it.
- 18:42Like you're saying.
- 18:43Yeah, he was hit nine times.
- 18:44I mean, they were in his face.
- 18:45They were in his face all day.
- 18:46They were in his face.
- 18:47Yeah, I don't know.
- 18:48Good luck, likes.
- 18:49But I mean, they they need this bye week.
- 18:50Couldn't have came at a better time.
- 18:51I mean, you take the heartbreaking loss to Denver that you absolutely could have and
- 18:52you know, you're going to be able to get it.
- 18:53You're going to be able to get it.
- 18:54You're going to be able to get it.
- 18:55You're going to be able to take the heartbreaking loss to Denver that you absolutely could have
- 18:59and should have won.
- 19:00Should have won that game.
- 19:01No questions.
- 19:02And then lose at home to the Bears.
- 19:04Another game you should have won.
- 19:06The Vikings could easily be eight and four eight and four.
- 19:10Yes, it should be one game out of the division lead.
- 19:13So yeah, yeah, I mean, I did.
- 19:16Bye week's huge this week.
- 19:18Yeah, it couldn't come at a better time.
- 19:19I'm curious if anything will change.
- 19:21I doubt anything will change.
- 19:22Like I said, I still think you need to give it to Dobbs just because I think if you're
- 19:25you're giving the reins over to a rookie quarterback, you're kind of just throwing the towel in
- 19:30on the season.
- 19:31But that was the plan was to see how the rookie would play.
- 19:34So they probably are no, you know what I mean, what they want to do in next year's draft,
- 19:38right?
- 19:39Yeah.
- 19:40And it also hinges on, you know, Kirk and blah, blah, blah, all that shit.
- 19:42All that shit.
- 19:43Yeah.
- 19:44So that's why I mean, like, I don't know, I could go either way, but I would imagine
- 19:47they would lean Dobbs because of what he's done already.
- 19:50And getting JJ back and with more trust in Dobbs, he has yet to throw to.
- 19:55Right, right, right.
- 19:56So neither really has Jaren Hall.
- 19:58True, true.
- 19:59You know, he wasn't getting any reps with him in training.
- 20:01Can't appreciate whatever he wasn't getting reps with Jaren Hall really didn't look bad.
- 20:05His again, but it's too serious.
- 20:07Even when he came in against the Packers, he didn't look good.
- 20:10But that again, that doesn't matter.
- 20:12He started against Atlanta.
- 20:14He looked good in his start until he got the concussion.
- 20:18I'm not saying he would have won the game.
- 20:19Who knows?
- 20:20I mean, the first two series weren't bad.
- 20:22No, for sure.
- 20:23For a rookie.
- 20:24For sure.
- 20:25The bright spot here for the Bears was Montez Sweat showing why they went out and got him
- 20:27and paid him in one and a half sacks on the day.
- 20:30But he was in, you know, he was in Dobbs' face all game.
- 20:34He only had the two quarterback hits, which came on, you know, the sacks.
- 20:36But he was he was just a game wrecker and he was the one who was really did not allow
- 20:40him to get outside.
- 20:41The Bears set the edge so well in this game.
- 20:43Yeah, no doubt.
- 20:46Well let's move on.
- 20:47I'm going to kick it over to the first ever Black Friday game.
- 20:52We had the 49ers traveling up to Seattle and taking on the Seahawks.
- 20:57Forty Niners came into this game as a seven point favorite and showed why they dominated
- 21:03this game.
- 21:04Smelty just dominated from start to finish.
- 21:06Brock Purdy looks back.
- 21:08You know, he didn't have an overwhelmingly great game in terms of numbers with but that's
- 21:13really only because he threw the pick is why his quarterback rating so low.
- 21:17Now granted, that pick was pretty bad.
- 21:19What's up with Geno Smith, brother?
- 21:20So I don't know.
- 21:22I was watching that a little more in this game and he seems to make OK reads.
- 21:27It's just by the time he makes now, granted, his first pick of the day was horrible, but
- 21:32he threw another pick later that I was like, well, that seemed like the right read.
- 21:36What do you mean, Geno Smith?
- 21:37He only had one interception, boss.
- 21:39Oh, I'm thinking of something else, then they must have called that other one back then
- 21:43or something.
- 21:44That's weird.
- 21:45I swear I saw two picks, but maybe it was just a pass breakup later then.
- 21:48But there was one later that looked like the right the right read.
- 21:53But then he just threw it too late.
- 21:55Like he's reading the right guys.
- 21:57But it's like it's not connecting.
- 21:58His brain isn't telling his arm to throw that shit fast enough to me.
- 22:02I think he just got to get rid of the ball quicker.
- 22:05He looks nothing like he did last year.
- 22:07This is the Geno Smith that was on the Jets and the Giants.
- 22:09This isn't the Geno Smith of the Seahawks last year.
- 22:12I don't know what happened.
- 22:13It's the same supporting cast, if not better, with Zach Chardonnay, Charbonne coming in
- 22:17K9 with another year under him, adding Jackson Smith.
- 22:21I can't say his last name, but JSN.
- 22:24So I don't know.
- 22:25Offense is the same.
- 22:26Ne'Gba, Smith Ne'Gba.
- 22:27OK, we'll stick.
- 22:28We'll go with that.
- 22:30One big one in a catch for him, too.
- 22:32Yeah, yeah.
- 22:34But I mean, on top of that, this 49ers front seven, adding Chase Young to that team is
- 22:38just it's not fair, dude.
- 22:40One, sorry, six sacks.
- 22:42Just what are you going to do?
- 22:44Not only that, they hit Geno 12 fucking times.
- 22:47Nothing, nothing.
- 22:48So that's what I mean.
- 22:49I mean, San Francisco's defense dominated the game.
- 22:52Yes, their offense looked good.
- 22:53Pretty looked really comfortable to me.
- 22:55Super smooth with his progressions.
- 22:57He was accurate with everything he threw.
- 23:00But for me, it was the defense.
- 23:01I mean, they just absolutely dominated from start to finish.
- 23:04They gave Seattle no hope at all at any point in the game of coming back.
- 23:10Really did.
- 23:11I mean, they held the Seahawks at 220 total yards on offense.
- 23:14Brock Purdy threw for 209.
- 23:16Right.
- 23:17So the Seahawks had 11 more yards as a team than Brock just did passing.
- 23:20And McCaffrey ran for a buck.
- 23:22Oh my God.
- 23:23McCaffrey ate like always.
- 23:24We already know, you know, smooth as ever again.
- 23:28But Debo coming up with some big catches.
- 23:30Debo had himself a game.
- 23:31I like them using Debo in the run game, but he just went out this week and showed you
- 23:35again, hey, don't sleep on me in the receiving game either.
- 23:38And a couple of those catches are big time.
- 23:40They were.
- 23:41They were.
- 23:42He's these.
- 23:43I'm a huge fan of Debo, bro.
- 23:44You know, there's no other player in the NFL like him.
- 23:46The closest player to him in the NFL, I would say, is actually McCaffrey with that dual
- 23:50capability.
- 23:51But I mean, Debo is obviously a lot more like accomplished receiver as McCaffrey is runner.
- 23:55But it's I love just what you just want to get the ball in their hand.
- 23:57No, exactly.
- 23:58Exactly.
- 23:59Debo on the lineup, wherever on the field, you know, and if even like his.
- 24:03I don't know.
- 24:04He's just so fun to watch.
- 24:05He's he's not a huge guy, but he's just one solid muscle.
- 24:08And you just can't get him down.
- 24:10An arm tackle is not going to bring him down.
- 24:12He's going to initiate contact.
- 24:13Yes, he will.
- 24:14He's that old school kind of like mentality, but a new school player.
- 24:19Yeah.
- 24:20With that gadget.
- 24:21You're going to kill.
- 24:22But he's so much more than a gadget.
- 24:23You think of a gadget player like a special teams returner comes in for a jet sweep where
- 24:26that's not Debo.
- 24:27No, he's he's over Swiss Army now.
- 24:29Yeah.
- 24:30OK, fair.
- 24:31I put maybe taste some hill on more of a gadget.
- 24:34Yeah, I would agree.
- 24:36But I would say Debo.
- 24:37I like that.
- 24:38I literally actually thought of that earlier today and I was like, no, not Swiss Army.
- 24:41I was trying to think of something cool or like something to tie into him.
- 24:44But I had no idea.
- 24:45I mean, Debo even had a pass in this game.
- 24:46Yeah, I know.
- 24:47He didn't complete it.
- 24:48But but still.
- 24:49But still.
- 24:50Yeah.
- 24:51And then you got teams, you know, keying in on Debo and McCaffrey and Kittle.
- 24:55And then you got a guy like Brandon Ayuk who just sneaks in there and runs some nasty
- 24:58routes that touchdown.
- 25:00He's so low key that touchdown.
- 25:02Beautiful route.
- 25:03Great route.
- 25:04But that ball placement by Purdy, it was in.
- 25:05No, I mean, he wasn't quadruple team by any means, but it was in between four defenders.
- 25:10It was just a beautiful, perfect through the picture as throw and route.
- 25:15Just beating that zone to a tee.
- 25:17But yeah, I mean, good fun game to watch.
- 25:19You know, my pops is a 49ers fan, so I was able to catch that game with him on Black
- 25:22Friday.
- 25:23So that was that was pretty cool.
- 25:25But it's as expected, man.
- 25:27Smeltzi and I both took this 49ers in this game, and it wasn't even a game.
- 25:31Literally the only like highlight for Seattle was D.
- 25:34Eskridge's 66 yard punt return.
- 25:37You know, he didn't go for a tug, but it was a hell of a return.
- 25:40He's fast as hell.
- 25:41But like, that's probably the most excitement they got all day.
- 25:45It was, man.
- 25:46Like that was just I just want to know what's up with Gino.
- 25:48When a comeback player of the year last year thrown for over 4000 yards and then this year
- 25:52he's just a shell of that player.
- 25:54Is it another year of father time getting to him?
- 25:57I don't know.
- 25:58But it sucks because I'm a big Gino guy.
- 26:01I like seeing the resurgence in his career.
- 26:02I thought Seattle was a great fit for him with that peak girl system and everything.
- 26:06And it's just it kind of sucks because I thought the Seahawks were a dark horse contender in
- 26:09the NFC this year.
- 26:10Who did they play last week?
- 26:12Seattle, do you remember?
- 26:13I'll top your head.
- 26:14I don't, but I can look it up.
- 26:15You know, like, of course, they're going to run into the force that is the 49ers right
- 26:20now, you know.
- 26:21So no matter who you are, you're just not going to look good.
- 26:24They played in lost to the Rams last week and they looked pitiful.
- 26:28Just terrible.
- 26:29That's right.
- 26:30Horrible in that game, too.
- 26:31And then beat Washington before that and got absolutely killed by the Ravens before that.
- 26:36So they beat all the teams they're supposed to.
- 26:40Yeah.
- 26:41But they're not going to beat anybody top tier.
- 26:43Right.
- 26:44Yep.
- 26:45Well, let's move on.
- 26:46Smolci, we have the game of the week.
- 26:47It might even it's one of the games of the year so far in terms of the game itself.
- 26:51We had the Philadelphia Eagles host the Buffalo Bills.
- 26:57Eagles went into this game as a three point favorite.
- 26:59The oddsmakers got that one right as the Eagles did squeak this one out.
- 27:03Thirty seven, thirty four.
- 27:04So it was a push on the odd, the spread there.
- 27:07But what a game it was, Smolci.
- 27:08Jalen Hertz, two words, all you got to fucking say.
- 27:11Yeah, no doubt.
- 27:12I mean, he showed you again.
- 27:14I mean, both quarterbacks showed you a little bit.
- 27:16But Hertz again showing you he's a threat on the ground.
- 27:20That walk off, Tuddy, what do you I mean?
- 27:24You can't write it better than that for Hertz right now.
- 27:26No, you really can't.
- 27:27I mean, it's he is a very, very, very fun player to watch.
- 27:32And it's going to be a very fun player to watch and grow in this league as the years
- 27:35go on here.
- 27:36This Philadelphia team, I don't think offensive wise is really going to get any worse.
- 27:41You know, once Kelsey and Johnson do hang him up, obviously, those are two perennial
- 27:44all pro pro players that will hurt them and they're going to miss them.
- 27:47But man, the crazy thing is Smolci, the Eagles sit here at 10 and one on the year.
- 27:53I don't think they've played a solid, full, fundamentally sound game of football this
- 27:58year.
- 27:59They still have so much where they can improve, which is so scary.
- 28:03That's scary as hell.
- 28:04No, it is for sure.
- 28:06And the thing about Jalen is just like you can game plan for that guy all you want.
- 28:12You know, we're talking about how you game plan for Dobbs and how that's changed.
- 28:15You can game plan for Jalen Hurts all you want.
- 28:17It's still not going to be enough because he can similar to Mahomes, right?
- 28:22He can still go make a play whatever, you know, he's going to alter that game himself
- 28:26if he has to.
- 28:27He's never going to give up.
- 28:28And the poise that he shows at his age is incredible.
- 28:32He's never bothered by anything.
- 28:34Even if you look at when the Eagles hit the field, go to push it to overtime, they fanned
- 28:38him on the bench and he's sitting there like shaking his head, just thinking like, how
- 28:42the hell did it come to this?
- 28:43Right?
- 28:44No, 100%.
- 28:45The guy is like the poise of Jalen Hurts is what's impressive to me the most.
- 28:48He's a natural born leader.
- 28:50He has that dog mentality as Nick Shuriani loves and just an impressive game.
- 28:55And you can't take away anything away from the Bills.
- 28:57Putting up 34 points is going to win 90 percent of the games in the NFL.
- 29:01You know, it's Josh Allen played good, not great.
- 29:0551 pass attempts is way too much, especially when the Buffalo rushing attack, they ran
- 29:09for 173 yards.
- 29:11So what I mean, let's talk about 40 carries.
- 29:13Let's talk about Josh Allen, though.
- 29:15Like why?
- 29:16What is going on with we talk about almost every week or every other week, like what's
- 29:19going on with Gino, which is relevant.
- 29:22But Josh Allen's kind of flying under the radar, too, as more of like what the hell
- 29:27is going on with Josh Allen?
- 29:28Because he's like hit or miss some weeks, too, right now.
- 29:31Like Kirk Cousins was probably on track to have a better season than Josh Allen.
- 29:34Oh, I mean, Kirk Cousins was going to have a top three quarterback season this year in
- 29:38the league.
- 29:39He was playing the best ball of his career.
- 29:40But I agree, man.
- 29:41Josh Allen, like you think Gino looks like a shell of himself.
- 29:44Josh Allen can't control can't take care of the damn ball.
- 29:46He's missing another overtime game.
- 29:48He's 0 for 8 and overtime like they he was one of the driving forces of why they changed
- 29:52over him over time rules and he's 0 and 3 since the change of rules.
- 29:56So like, I don't know, man.
- 29:57Like he made it happen on the ground.
- 29:59But we know that we know he's capable of that.
- 30:01He came up with a couple of tuds and crucial times, but why?
- 30:05I just don't understand what's going on.
- 30:08It's like it's just not enough.
- 30:11It's just not enough to win games anymore.
- 30:13It's not.
- 30:14And I think the biggest reason is losing Trey White and Matt Milano on your defense.
- 30:20Those are the two like cornerstone pieces of your defense and leaders of that defense.
- 30:25I think losing those two kind of hurt the team's morale as a whole.
- 30:29And it's just not something that they've been shown to be able to get over.
- 30:33You look at the bills, they're 10th in the AFC right now.
- 30:35You couldn't pay me going into the year to say that the bills will be 10th in the AFC
- 30:38going into week 13.
- 30:40No, no doubt.
- 30:42But this is my problem because I was just curious looking at the stats again.
- 30:45I was like, OK, something's weird here.
- 30:48And looking at the possession time, Buffalo had the ball for 40 minutes compared to Philly's
- 30:5526.
- 30:57Dude, you got to capitalize on your opportunity.
- 31:01And they were.
- 31:02And well, they missed two field goals.
- 31:03They missed the two field goals and that killed me in fantasy.
- 31:06That could be the difference right there.
- 31:08Now fucking Basman Tyler.
- 31:09I know.
- 31:10Trust me.
- 31:11I've killed me in fantasy.
- 31:12Now, what I will say about Buffalo that I liked is, you know, each week that passes,
- 31:17you're kind of seeing a little bit more out of James Cook a little bit.
- 31:19He's starting to get more of that flash, you know, every week.
- 31:23You know, we know probably what he's capable of, but he's starting to show it more.
- 31:27Yeah, I mean, you look at the yards between the two.
- 31:29The Buffalo had five hundred and five total yards as a team to Eagle to the Eagles, three
- 31:34seventy eight.
- 31:35You don't lose that game.
- 31:36No, no, but they did.
- 31:39They did.
- 31:40So what's next for the Buffalo man sitting that tenth in the AFC?
- 31:44You know, they could still make a run.
- 31:46They could still make a playoff push as a wild card.
- 31:49I don't think they're going to win the division with Miami playing like they are.
- 31:53Here's here's Buffalo's next three.
- 31:55At Kansas City.
- 31:58Cowboys at home and then at L.A. Chargers.
- 32:02You got to beat the Chargers.
- 32:03The Chargers are just fucking terrible.
- 32:05But Dallas and you have to go to you have to win two of those three games to be in contention.
- 32:10You have to.
- 32:12And they still have to play Miami again this year.
- 32:14Yep, they still got Miami.
- 32:15Yeah, Miami as well in Miami.
- 32:18They got a long road ahead of them and I think we're looking at a possibility that the Bills
- 32:23could miss the playoffs.
- 32:24I think so.
- 32:25I mean, yeah, you're right.
- 32:26They got Chiefs, Cowboys, Chargers, Patriots, Dolphins after the bye week this week.
- 32:30By week couldn't come at a better time to regroup, kind of re kind of get your mental
- 32:34right.
- 32:35And, you know, that that five games, I really only see them.
- 32:40I'm confident they'll win two of those five games.
- 32:43Yeah, the Chargers and New England, which would bring them to eight and nine.
- 32:46And that's not making the playoff.
- 32:47No, that is crazy.
- 32:49I don't know.
- 32:50We could we could be staring at the Bills not making the playoffs.
- 32:53And if you would have told me that at the beginning of the season, I don't know.
- 32:57That's why I wouldn't believe that shit for a second.
- 33:00That's wild.
- 33:01All righty.
- 33:02Well, let's move on.
- 33:03Smelty, we have what ended up being a pretty damn good game as well.
- 33:06AFC South Showdown with the Jaguars going down to Houston, taking the Texans, taking
- 33:13on the Texans going into the game.
- 33:15The Jaguars were indeed a one and a half point favorite.
- 33:18Did cover that spread and won twenty four twenty one.
- 33:20Yeah, I mean, and ultimately a pretty good game for the Jaguars in Houston.
- 33:26Shout out to the Texans.
- 33:27Those all red jerseys with the chrome red helmets.
- 33:29Them bitches is clean.
- 33:30Yeah, I was like, wow, that looks nice.
- 33:33I mean, again, I don't even know who to talk about first, because like you said, this was
- 33:36a great game.
- 33:37Trevor Lawrence looked great.
- 33:40He looked great, even got himself a rushing touchdown.
- 33:42He finally and it was in the second half that he really started looking better for me.
- 33:46Him and Ridley finally started getting a real good connection that second half.
- 33:51And Ridley is another guy that runs great routes, fast feet.
- 33:56I don't know.
- 33:57Big field goal.
- 33:58Go up 10 to start the fourth.
- 33:59I mean, they just they controlled the game.
- 34:02The Jaguars did, I feel like they did.
- 34:04And this was the game that you could hope for.
- 34:06Who would have thought the Texans would be sitting at six and five after this lost on
- 34:09the year?
- 34:10And they make the playoffs with the season ended right now.
- 34:14So I certainly I'm sorry.
- 34:16You're one game out of the playoffs right now tied with the Colts.
- 34:18So it goes to the division record.
- 34:19But it's it's been it was a really fun game to watch.
- 34:23CJ Stroud, man.
- 34:25This cat is going to be an absolute stun the NFL.
- 34:27He's already second in the league in passing right now, only behind who would have thought
- 34:30Sam Howell.
- 34:31But not only CJ Stroud, Tank Dell, Tank Dell, dude, some huge catches and crucial moments.
- 34:37CJ Shouds a runaway for offensive player rookie of the year this year.
- 34:41But you have to put Tank Dell in that conversation.
- 34:43I mean, between him and Puka Nakua.
- 34:46I could put.
- 34:47Yeah, Puka has been nasty.
- 34:48It's been the crazy thing is, is CJ Shouds were known advised there like recommended
- 34:53the Texans draft Tank Dell because he watched highlight videos.
- 34:55I mean, like the way he run routes.
- 34:57Really?
- 34:58And they listen to him.
- 34:59I did not know the Packers would have listened to Aaron Fucking Rogers, one of his what,
- 35:0219 years.
- 35:03One of right.
- 35:04But no, CJ's his ability to kind of like Rogers Rogers ask actually his ability to
- 35:11extend the play just by running around in circles, dude.
- 35:14The dude left the pocket.
- 35:15I watched this play just literally running around in circles.
- 35:18Defenders dive in all over the place.
- 35:19They looked like idiots.
- 35:20And then he throws a strike, you know, and he can make any throw on the field.
- 35:25He has a very, very strong arm.
- 35:27I think the biggest thing that hurt Houston in this game is their their inability to run
- 35:31the ball.
- 35:32CJ Shoud with six carries for 47 yards.
- 35:34He can't be your leading rusher.
- 35:35No, you need to see more out of Singletarian Pierce for sure.
- 35:38Especially with Pierce, this is his first game coming back after a couple games missed.
- 35:42I thought they would have incorporated him a little bit more, but he only ran the ball
- 35:4518 times on the day.
- 35:47Shit.
- 35:48Tankdale had one rush and almost outrushed both of them.
- 35:52That's hilarious.
- 35:54But the other the other piece of this Houston offense that that's that I'm a huge fan of
- 35:57is Nico Collins.
- 35:58Big bodied receiver goes up, makes those contested catches.
- 36:01You know, not an elite route runner, but he's the only second or third year in the league.
- 36:05You know, he'll develop that.
- 36:06When he shows he he doesn't have that top end speed where he's going to take the take
- 36:09the the top off the defense.
- 36:11But he's big enough where he's going to go up and win those one on ones and like give
- 36:15you a lot better chance at it.
- 36:16Yeah, you can you can trust him like, you know what?
- 36:18It's one on one.
- 36:19I'm throwing it up to him.
- 36:20We'll see.
- 36:21Exactly.
- 36:22He has the ability to climb up and get it.
- 36:24He does.
- 36:25He does.
- 36:26But the story of the game, in my opinion, in this one was, like you said, Trevor Lawrence,
- 36:29man, what a what a fun AFC South we have for years to come is weird.
- 36:34When you look at Trevor Lawrence, CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson and whoever the hell the
- 36:40Titans do with their life.
- 36:42Will Levis has shown flashes.
- 36:44They look horrible.
- 36:45Yeah, some flashes.
- 36:46But I'm excited then.
- 36:47Who would have thought going into this year, the AFC South would be a division to watch.
- 36:51Yeah, no.
- 36:52I mean, right now, any division game for AFC South, again, Titans going to be what they
- 36:57may.
- 36:58But any division game in the NFL is a little bit extra in that game.
- 37:00But yeah, any AFC South division game right now is lit.
- 37:06Question mark, which is just weird to say that shit.
- 37:08Growing up, you know, the AFC South we know growing up wasn't shit.
- 37:14No, it was dominated by Peyton and the Colts.
- 37:16Just dominated.
- 37:17It wasn't even a division.
- 37:19But I mean, you look at right now, you got Jacksonville at the third best in the conference.
- 37:25Then you have the Colts at seven, Texans at eight.
- 37:27So you got three teams in the top eight with two of them being playoffs.
- 37:30And let's be honest, you got the Browns ahead of the Texans right now.
- 37:35What's getting Texans and Colts?
- 37:36But I don't think the Browns are going to win very many more games this year, personally.
- 37:40No.
- 37:41And could we see three teams from the AFC South make the playoffs, Melty?
- 37:44Let's do it.
- 37:45Why not?
- 37:46I'm here for it.
- 37:47I'm here for it.
- 37:48The one thing I would like to see Jacksonville get going better is the run game.
- 37:53Travis Etienne has a lot of talent, a lot of ability, and 20 carries for 56 yards.
- 37:58They definitely gave him the opportunities, but he only averaged 2.8 yards per carry.
- 38:03And I mean, 20 yards of that came on one run.
- 38:05No, for sure.
- 38:06And you're hitting it right on the head there.
- 38:08I think they need a little bit more of a push up front for Jacksonville.
- 38:14They do.
- 38:15And losing Cam Robinson certainly does not help.
- 38:16No, no.
- 38:17Well, then that's just it, right?
- 38:20But I think Jacksonville is losing the games they have lost this year.
- 38:23I think they've lost them up front straight up.
- 38:25I would agree.
- 38:26The games won in the trenches more or less than the modern day NFL, kind of back to the
- 38:30OG NFL.
- 38:31You look at how the teams are built right now with the Eagles, the Niners, the Cowboys.
- 38:36The only team that's not really built around the trenches that's like a perennial playoff
- 38:39contender is the Chiefs.
- 38:40Yeah, true, true.
- 38:42Yeah.
- 38:43And it's not like they got Scrubs.
- 38:44They got Kareem, or sorry, Creed Humphreys, one of the youngest bright stars on offense,
- 38:49and then Chris Jones on the defensive side of the ball.
- 38:51So the centerpieces are there on both sides.
- 38:53But I really, really wish the Texans would have made that field goal.
- 38:57I know.
- 38:58With 2.32 left.
- 38:59And hit the crossbar.
- 39:00Oh, it looked so good.
- 39:01I thought for sure it was going.
- 39:02It looked so good, man.
- 39:03I was like, damn.
- 39:04I really wanted to see this game continue.
- 39:05It was such a fun game to watch.
- 39:07And I think CJ Schaub deserved it.
- 39:09He did.
- 39:10No, he did.
- 39:11He did.
- 39:12You know, I just want to point out, too, another big game for Josh Allen of the Jaguars.
- 39:17Got himself two sacks in big moments.
- 39:20Maybe even got him another half sack, actually.
- 39:22I can't remember if he ended up splitting that one.
- 39:25He did, yeah, two and a half then.
- 39:26And then, I don't know, pretty good game for him as well.
- 39:30Force on the defensive side of the ball.
- 39:31But yeah, no, you're right.
- 39:33CJ definitely earned the chance just to see what would happen.
- 39:36CJ versus Trevor O'Tee, who doesn't want to see this year?
- 39:39Who doesn't want to see that?
- 39:41That's for sure.
- 39:42That's for sure.
- 39:43Yeah, man.
- 39:46It's not the Josh Allen we thought we'd be talking about.
- 39:48It's funny, too, because...
- 39:49It's the one that always goes under the radar because of other Josh Allen.
- 39:52Yeah, so he actually prefers to be called Joshua now.
- 39:55He changed the way he wants to pronounce it, Josh Allen, now to just prevent confusion.
- 39:59My only guess at it.
- 40:01But let's look at the Texans for the rest of the year.
- 40:03They have a cakewalk of a schedule.
- 40:05The only game that I think they have that's left that...
- 40:08Go through it real quick.
- 40:09There's only five left, right?
- 40:10Six.
- 40:11Six?
- 40:12Because they don't have a bye week.
- 40:13Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 40:14And the Broncos next week is going to be a pretty good game.
- 40:16That's going to be a good game.
- 40:17And then we have Jets, Titans, Browns, Titans, Colts.
- 40:21Win, potentially win.
- 40:23That Colts week 17 game, I think, is going to be a lot of playoff implications if the
- 40:27both teams continue the success they're having.
- 40:29We could see the Texans...
- 40:31I could see the Texans going bare worst, 4-2 in that remaining schedule, and that puts
- 40:36them at 10-7.
- 40:39I think that's enough to squeak into the wild card spot in the AFC.
- 40:42Is that enough to beat out Jacksonville for the division?
- 40:46Does Jacksonville win their next six?
- 40:48Let me take a look at what they have left.
- 40:49I'm curious.
- 40:50I'm curious because I don't think it is.
- 40:53So Jacksonville has Bengals.
- 40:56Win potentially.
- 40:57Browns.
- 40:58Win potentially.
- 40:59Ravens.
- 41:00No.
- 41:01Buccaneers.
- 41:02Yes.
- 41:03Panthers.
- 41:04Yes.
- 41:05Titans.
- 41:06Yes.
- 41:07I mean...
- 41:08That's a pretty cakewalk there.
- 41:09It's going to be that AFC North games that are going to determine the rest of Jacksonville's
- 41:10season.
- 41:11Those two games.
- 41:12Those two games should be it for them, the last two.
- 41:15But those AFC North matchups right there.
- 41:18Yeah.
- 41:19That'll determine if Jacksonville wins the division or not.
- 41:23Well enough about week 12 smelty.
- 41:25Let's get into the news with the NFL with 10Talk, brother.
- 41:30Let's start with the Browns.
- 41:31They got the injury bug on Sunday.
- 41:33Miles Garrett, Dorian Thompson Robinson, and Amari Cooper all had injuries.
- 41:39Now Miles Garrett played through his, but after the game he had his left arm in a sling
- 41:45and said he felt something pop in his shoulder.
- 41:47He did indeed get an MRI and it came back negative, which is good.
- 41:50So there's no structural damage.
- 41:52He is not expected to miss any time and play through his soreness.
- 41:56But if he misses any time, that's a pretty big impact on the defense.
- 41:59Yeah, no doubt.
- 42:00I mean, you need Miles Garrett to even have a shot right now to be honest with you.
- 42:05I mean, if you're the Browns, for sure.
- 42:07You do.
- 42:08He's a top three defensive player in the league.
- 42:09So big loss potentially there.
- 42:11And then you have mentioned DTR too with his head injury.
- 42:16Do we know if he's playing this week?
- 42:17I'd imagine probably not.
- 42:19He's in concussion protocol.
- 42:20You know, he's there, which is like day to day, right?
- 42:23They just check you out every single day.
- 42:25Yeah, there's certain requirements you have to meet to get out of concussion protocol.
- 42:28So right now it's kind of up in the air.
- 42:30You know, I would fully expect PJ Walker to start that game.
- 42:33I'll try PJ.
- 42:34I was going to say who's there?
- 42:35Who's their other guy?
- 42:36But yeah, PJ, that's right.
- 42:37If I'm not mistaken, they also signed Joe Flacco.
- 42:39It was them or the Bengals.
- 42:42No I feel like it was the Browns to their practice squad.
- 42:45Yeah.
- 42:46Did they sign him to the active roster yet?
- 42:47I don't know if they signed him to the active roster, but I know he was on the practice
- 42:49squad.
- 42:50Yeah, no, no.
- 42:51I think you're right.
- 42:52I think it is the Browns.
- 42:53And then another integral piece of that offense, Amari Cooper.
- 42:55Got hit in the ribs.
- 42:57Left the game.
- 42:58X-rays came back as negative.
- 42:59So there's no, again, like serious damage.
- 43:02He's hoping it's not something that will sideline him.
- 43:05But at this point, everything's up in the air.
- 43:07And another guy that you need on that offense, especially to help out DTR.
- 43:10How about anybody who's throwing quarterback?
- 43:12No, no kidding.
- 43:13PJ, DTR, don't matter.
- 43:15Whatever letters you want to throw in there, you got to help them out.
- 43:18You do.
- 43:19You do.
- 43:20And he's kind of had a resurgence this year.
- 43:21He's looked good with very inconsistent quarterback play.
- 43:23Him and Deshaun were kind of trying to, we're building their...
- 43:26Amari's not a bad receiver.
- 43:27He's really not.
- 43:28I think he's always kind of gotten a bad rep.
- 43:31And I don't know why.
- 43:32That's what happens when you go play in Dallas.
- 43:33Yeah.
- 43:34Well, actually he had that before Dallas.
- 43:35He had it because of his edit.
- 43:36Oh, cool.
- 43:37He's been in Vegas.
- 43:38I mean, Oakland, yeah, my bad.
- 43:39Yeah.
- 43:40That's really where it stemmed.
- 43:41Yeah, but he's a star player.
- 43:44The guy has all the talent in the world.
- 43:47But enough with the Browns.
- 43:48Let's move down to the NFC South.
- 43:49Chris Olave left the game after another big hit there.
- 43:52He's in the concussion protocol as well, man.
- 43:54Yeah, same deal.
- 43:56Same deal as DTR.
- 43:57I mean, not much else to say about that other than the fact that obviously that New Orleans
- 44:00offense needs him.
- 44:02Oh, they do.
- 44:03They do.
- 44:04Their offense is kind of sputtering as it is.
- 44:06They have the defense to go out and compete.
- 44:08But without Chris Olave, I mean, and Michael Thomas being out, you're putting a lot of
- 44:12trust in A.T. Perry's hand.
- 44:13That's all right.
- 44:14See what happens.
- 44:15We'll see.
- 44:16I mean, the NFC South.
- 44:17Who else do they have behind?
- 44:18Oh, they have Shahid?
- 44:19Yeah, Shahid.
- 44:20Is that him?
- 44:21Yeah, number 22.
- 44:22Weird number for him.
- 44:23Yeah, he's not bad.
- 44:24No, he's a good deep ball, but he only offers much for a deep threat.
- 44:26Sure, sure.
- 44:27And you always got Alvin Kamara in the backfield as well.
- 44:29So that never hurts.
- 44:30Got to get him going then.
- 44:31You do.
- 44:32You do.
- 44:33And as we shift our focus to the Indianapolis Colts, Jonathan Taylor had surgery on his
- 44:37thumb.
- 44:38He's not going to the IR.
- 44:40They're hoping that it's you know, he's only going to be out one to two, maybe three weeks.
- 44:46And that's a big loss for the Colts.
- 44:48Yeah, no doubt.
- 44:49And I mean, you know, NFL fans, Colts fans specifically can be as disappointed as they
- 44:54want.
- 44:55Nobody is more disappointed than Jonathan Taylor.
- 44:56I guarantee you that now that they didn't they resign him this year to to an extension,
- 45:02Jonathan Taylor.
- 45:03Like now he wants to get out there, man.
- 45:06So nobody's more disappointed than him.
- 45:07I guarantee it, especially in that AFC South and an outside chance to sneak into the playoffs
- 45:12at this point.
- 45:13Yeah, especially with with how productive Zach Moss has been.
- 45:16You know, you could make an argument where they you could make an argument.
- 45:19They have the best one to punch.
- 45:20You know, it's hard to get rid of that Detroit combo right now.
- 45:24But I mean, outside.
- 45:25They can make an argument.
- 45:26You can make an argument, man.
- 45:27Zach.
- 45:28I don't think you're going to win the argument.
- 45:29No, no.
- 45:30But you can make that argument.
- 45:31You know, he was putting up numbers when he was the lead back when Taylor was out.
- 45:35So you have that, you know, to kind of fall back to.
- 45:39But you need Jonathan Taylor to.
- 45:41But I mean, they're saving grace as their schedule is not very complex.
- 45:43It's not very difficult going forward.
- 45:45So then we have the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 45:48Lane Johnson was a surprising scratch from last week's game against the Bills with a
- 45:53groin injury.
- 45:54It stems from the issue he had last year.
- 45:57He's considered day to day right now.
- 45:58He is hoping to play this week against San Fran.
- 46:01They sure as shit need him against San Francisco.
- 46:04And I get the practice of how much of a participant he is in practice this week is really going
- 46:07to tell the story.
- 46:09But at the same time, he was a full participant participant every day last week.
- 46:13Yeah.
- 46:14And I mean, he straight up is saying to like he expects to be ready to play.
- 46:18But I feel like every player wants to say that, to be honest with you.
- 46:21So it's really going to be up to the combination of him.
- 46:24And I'd imagine the medical and coaching staff at that point to figure that out.
- 46:28But he says he expects to play.
- 46:30Yeah, I don't.
- 46:31I mean, in that regard, I doubt any player takes themself or holds out of a game.
- 46:36It's usually the medical staff that's going to prevent them from going in.
- 46:39Right.
- 46:40You got to be kind of a goon to go play in the NFL anyway.
- 46:42So like, I'm ready to go go play and hit somebody.
- 46:46Right.
- 46:47So yeah, somebody's going to tell you, no, you're not playing.
- 46:48Exactly.
- 46:49Your screws all can't be intact.
- 46:53That leads us to Cam Robinson.
- 46:55Big loss for that Jaguars offensive line.
- 46:57He's going to the knee to the I.R. with a knee injury.
- 47:01He is expected to be back for the playoff run, barring any setbacks.
- 47:05That's a big loss, man.
- 47:06No, no doubt.
- 47:07I mean, they really need him back for that playoff push at least.
- 47:11They were saying three to six weeks.
- 47:13But now I are obviously that's a minimum of four.
- 47:15So you know, if they're looking pretty good, do you hold them until the playoffs start
- 47:20at that point?
- 47:21Or do you try to work them into that last game of the season, maybe last two games of
- 47:24the season to get them back into form, as we say?
- 47:28I think the last game for sure.
- 47:30Just get them back in game shape and kind of keep that form, build that rhythm back
- 47:33in.
- 47:34I don't like players coming back for a playoff game.
- 47:36Just for the playoffs, I know.
- 47:37Yeah.
- 47:38So especially if it's an extended absence, you know, four to six week loft, like there's
- 47:41no way you can completely, 100 percent, keep your conditioning right to stay in game shape,
- 47:46especially this late in the season.
- 47:48But I mean, with the trainers out there, you know, disposal, I'm sure they can be damn
- 47:52close, but there's no way they're going to be able to train 100 percent, obviously, with
- 47:57the injury.
- 47:58Well, that's that's the thing as well with a with a knee injury.
- 48:00It's not like he can sit on a treadmill and condition, you know, you got a broken wrist.
- 48:03You can still have your conditioning up intact where you're fairly limited when you have
- 48:07a knee injury because you don't want to put any stress on it.
- 48:10And you know, your conditioning does take a hit.
- 48:13Right.
- 48:14Yeah, no doubt.
- 48:15Let's switches this over to the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 48:17We had Zach Cunningham go down with a hamstring injury.
- 48:20He had an MRI actually today being recording this on a Tuesday or pending the results of
- 48:24that MRI.
- 48:25But he is not expected to miss a lot of time.
- 48:27They need him to miss zero time.
- 48:29They do.
- 48:30He's an integral part of that defense, man.
- 48:32I don't think he will miss zero time because hamstrings are are the real deal.
- 48:37I mean, you pull that or strain that at all.
- 48:39You're I mean, you feel that for quite a while.
- 48:42You got to be 100 percent.
- 48:43Otherwise, you're just risking aggravating it again.
- 48:46And now you're just prolonging that recovery.
- 48:49No, exactly, man.
- 48:50I think in the way the Eagles are sitting right now, I think you give him all the rest
- 48:54that's needed and you need him for a playoff run.
- 48:56Yeah.
- 48:57So that's a good that's a good point.
- 48:58I mean, they're sitting.
- 48:59What are they?
- 49:00Ten and one, right?
- 49:01They're sitting at ten and one might as well just settle.
- 49:03Yeah.
- 49:04You know, unless he's for sure 100 percent good to go.
- 49:07And then that leads us to Zach Cunningham.
- 49:09I'm sorry.
- 49:10We he is Zach Cunningham.
- 49:12That leads us to Shaq Leonard.
- 49:14Shaq Leonard has there's some teams interested in him right now.
- 49:18The two biggest being the Cowboys and the Eagles with the Cunningham injury going down.
- 49:22I could very much see Leonard getting a visit with the Eagles.
- 49:25And I think if they do get a scheduled visit, he does not leave that facility without a
- 49:29contract.
- 49:30There's no way he does.
- 49:31Like you said, with the uncertainty of the Cunningham injury, who knows?
- 49:34He could be back next week.
- 49:35He could be back.
- 49:36He could go to I.R. for four weeks, to be honest.
- 49:39We don't know yet.
- 49:42So if he gets a visit, I think you're right.
- 49:44If they know the outlook on Cunningham and if they can agree to the right dollar amount.
- 49:49I think at this point, I don't think it matters the status of Cunningham, whether they're
- 49:54going to sign him or not, just because going into the playoffs, you want the depth at the
- 49:57position that's a weak spot of their defense this week.
- 50:00And if he's your depth going into the playoffs, I'm feeling pretty solid.
- 50:03No, hell yeah.
- 50:04Hell yeah.
- 50:05And I mean, from the money perspective, the Colts are still paying them a good chunk of
- 50:08money.
- 50:09So they're not going to I think, you know, they're not going to throw eight, nine, ten
- 50:12million dollars at them.
- 50:13And I don't think they need to.
- 50:15At this point, he wants to play for a contender right now.
- 50:18That's exactly what I was going to say.
- 50:19No, you're good.
- 50:20You're good.
- 50:21At this point in his career, it's you know, he's made his money.
- 50:25He's a free agent at the end of the year.
- 50:27So he's going to be able to sign with anybody next year.
- 50:29Why not ring chase?
- 50:30It's time to win a ship.
- 50:31And if and if the two teams that are looking at you are the Cowboys and Eagles, two Eagles
- 50:36for sure are contender.
- 50:37And I mean, I'd even float the idea that the Cowboys are legit contender, whether or not
- 50:41playoff deck shows up or who decides to play.
- 50:44That's up to them.
- 50:45But I mean, yeah, I mean, it's probably one of those two teams.
- 50:50I think he does sign, though.
- 50:51There's no way he doesn't play somewhere the rest of the season.
- 50:54No, I agree.
- 50:55I agree.
- 50:56And I think it's one of those two teams.
- 50:57Your boy, Justin Jefferson, activated off IR, is expected to come back after the bye
- 51:03week this week and play against the Las Vegas Raiders.
- 51:07After this game against the Bears, boy, do you guys need him?
- 51:10Well, and the thing is, is not only is he an elite receiver himself, but he's going
- 51:14to draw the best DB on the field and he's going to draw potentially double coverage,
- 51:20which then opens it up for T.J.
- 51:21Hockinson, K.J.
- 51:22Osborne, Jordan Addison.
- 51:24You know, it just opens it up for those guys.
- 51:26It also opens up.
- 51:27It helps in the run game, you know, because you can't just stack the box.
- 51:30Not that you would stack the box against the Vikings, but.
- 51:33Or have to right now.
- 51:34Yeah, that's the thing.
- 51:35It's not AP back there.
- 51:36Right, right, right.
- 51:38So it's you know, he draws that extra look.
- 51:41So even a play action, you know, there's so much you can't take a play off with him.
- 51:44You can't.
- 51:45You can't.
- 51:46You can't.
- 51:47Although I feel like defenses can take plays off sometimes with low key T.J.
- 51:51Hockinson and K.J.
- 51:52Osborne, like Jordan Addison.
- 51:54I think we're realizing, hey, that dude, that dude will make you miss.
- 51:57So you can't you can't take a play off with him.
- 51:59But I think teams do take some plays off of T.J. and K.J.
- 52:02So if they're shut down and your only guy you're looking at is Addison, well, you just
- 52:07got not enough targets.
- 52:09So Jefferson coming back would be would be huge for that offense.
- 52:12Yeah, I agree.
- 52:13100 percent.
- 52:14I agree.
- 52:15100 percent.
- 52:16He's one of the best players in the NFL.
- 52:17Top two.
- 52:18I mean, the best receiver in the NFL, in my opinion.
- 52:21I think it's close.
- 52:22It's damn close.
- 52:23Ty Hill.
- 52:24But I think it's close.
- 52:25He might edge out Ty Hill.
- 52:26And I do Ty Rieck's nasty, dude.
- 52:30Yeah.
- 52:31Yeah.
- 52:32I mean, I would agree.
- 52:33I would agree.
- 52:35Well, that leads us to our last segment here in 10.
- 52:37We have our Rogers watch.
- 52:41Rumor has it's multi.
- 52:42He is targeting a Christmas Eve return.
- 52:44Now that is obviously barring any setbacks with the Achilles recovery and the Jets do
- 52:49have to be in playoff contention.
- 52:51You know what else is rumored about that?
- 52:53What's that?
- 52:54That he's a big fat liar.
- 52:56I don't believe it.
- 52:57But allegedly, it might have not have been an Achilles just because people are saying
- 53:04it just because he could potentially return Christmas Eve.
- 53:08He's not saying he will.
- 53:09He's saying there's the potential of it.
- 53:11And like you said, the Jets would still have to be in playoff contention for him to do
- 53:14that.
- 53:16But is he lying?
- 53:17You're his buddy.
- 53:18I don't think so.
- 53:19That's a crock of shit, dude.
- 53:21You're not going to.
- 53:22The thing is, is you have an NFL player, especially someone of Rogers caliber, that motherfucker
- 53:30wants to win another Super Bowl.
- 53:32So bad.
- 53:33That's why he left Green Bay and was able to build a team around him.
- 53:37I just don't think he's going to fake an injury.
- 53:40The funny thing is, is how funny would it be?
- 53:44Because he would have to play, I think it's 75 percent of the snaps this year for the
- 53:47Packers to get a first round pick from the Jets.
- 53:49Anything less than 75 percent.
- 53:51It's a second rounder.
- 53:52How funny would it be that he just didn't play that 75 percent simply so the Packers
- 53:55got screwed over of a first rounder?
- 53:57Do you think you would do that at this point?
- 53:58No, no, no.
- 53:59Again, again, he wants to win a Super Bowl.
- 54:02He had the Jets are a quarterback away from being a Super Bowl threat.
- 54:05They have no and they went out and got the guy that they could have.
- 54:09I mean, not the best quarterback they could have got.
- 54:11You're not trading for a Lamar or Patrick Holmes.
- 54:13We were talking about this in the summer, you know, in the offseason, like who could
- 54:18they go target?
- 54:19Who could they go get?
- 54:21And the Jets and Rogers were thrown around a lot and they made it happen.
- 54:25I think he is your guy to set you over that edge.
- 54:28I would agree.
- 54:29I would agree.
- 54:30And the other time as well is like if it wasn't Rogers that's doing this, it's not talked
- 54:36about it with this conspiracy.
- 54:38It's just because it's Rogers and of course, the media just loves in quotation Rogers as
- 54:44much as they actually truly hate him.
- 54:46So it's it's just people that want clicks.
- 54:48You put Rogers name out there.
- 54:49You're going to get the clicks.
- 54:50I think it's so stupid to even like consider that as even in a conversation.
- 54:55No, I just I saw it somewhere and I was like, oh, I'm bringing that up.
- 54:59Genius.
- 55:00Well, let's move on to everybody's favorite segment, Smeltz's bonehead move of the week.
- 55:05What do you got for us this week, Smeltz?
- 55:07Yeah, and it's actually it's not a player and it's not a former player even this week.
- 55:13It's we're talking about an owner, Panthers owner, David Tepper, as you know, let go of
- 55:19his his coach this week, Frank Reich.
- 55:22That would make six coaches since 2018.
- 55:25So the reason why he's kind of the bonehead move of the week here is, you know, he always
- 55:32preaches like patience with the organization and he's got all this patience and whatnot.
- 55:38Well, that's your sixth coach since 2018.
- 55:41Three of them head coaches, three of them interim coaches, but that's your sixth coach
- 55:45overall since 2018.
- 55:48What I'm just curious what and I got something else for him, too, that kind of puts him in
- 55:52the bonehead because it's kind of sus and weird and whatever, but just that first part
- 55:56there.
- 55:57Like, what's your definition of patience?
- 55:59Because I don't I don't know, right?
- 56:01You know, as an owner, I'm sure you want results immediately.
- 56:04But in pro sports, it takes time to build something.
- 56:07Yeah.
- 56:08And I mean, preaching the patience, it's like he says that, but he's also known for having
- 56:13a ridiculously short leash.
- 56:16He's the second richest owner in the NFL.
- 56:19So paying for all those coaches and their contracts don't matter because to him, because
- 56:23they don't count towards the salary cap.
- 56:25So we can afford to do that.
- 56:27But it's I don't know what his definition of patience is.
- 56:30That's what I mean.
- 56:31And then there's no continuity in your organization.
- 56:33None.
- 56:34So how are you supposed to get any sort of rhythm, flow, momentum, whatever the hell
- 56:38you want to call it, even just in the front office.
- 56:41And then that stems down to the coaching staff, which stems down to the players.
- 56:46I don't know.
- 56:48It just it really throws me for a loop when he preaches patience.
- 56:51And now he's like, oh, another coach, Granit, they're one in ten, not doing shit.
- 56:55But the thing about it, the thing about it, what do you what did he expect out of the
- 56:59Panthers this year?
- 57:01You had the number one overall pick, granted, because you traded for it.
- 57:05So you were the not the ninth pick.
- 57:07You are the ninth worst team in the league last year.
- 57:10You didn't make a huge acquisitions.
- 57:12You signed Miles Sanders, you drafted Bryce Young, you brought in Adam Thielen, which
- 57:16was supposed to take them to the Super Bowl, probably Adam Thielen looking ass.
- 57:21But at the end of the day, like, what did you honestly expect?
- 57:24Well, and so and so let's talk about taking Bryce at number one overall.
- 57:28He also made some kind of weird comments to me.
- 57:31So he said he's confident in the pick.
- 57:34He just said this in an interview like this past week, and I'm pretty sure.
- 57:38And he's still referring to Bryce as a pick.
- 57:40But he said he's he was confident with the pick.
- 57:43And then he goes on to say how more or less he was confident as more reporters keep asking
- 57:49questions.
- 57:51He goes on more or less to say, well, I was confident in my team or in my coaching staff's
- 57:56pick.
- 57:57He never he never like said himself or anything like.
- 58:01And then he goes on to say that their original plan, because they didn't think they were
- 58:04going to get number one.
- 58:05Their original plan was to trade up to number two and take CJ Stroud.
- 58:09And now saying that at this point in the season, after seeing what CJ is doing and what the
- 58:13Panthers are doing, I just feel like that's really weird timing to be bringing something
- 58:16like that up.
- 58:18And maybe people are just pestering and making stories, which is media in general.
- 58:22But like the way he if you go watch the interview, the way he kind of beats around the bush of
- 58:26that Bryce Young question and then says, like, I trust or I trust my team or my coaching
- 58:33staff with their pick or whatever, just how he says it.
- 58:36It's just like it was a coach and the front office.
- 58:38He said he trusted the pick.
- 58:41But why?
- 58:42You know what I mean?
- 58:43I don't know what it is this year.
- 58:45But they like Ron Rivera is doing this.
- 58:47Frank Reich was doing this.
- 58:48And now David Tepper is doing this.
- 58:50You got to stop saying what you think.
- 58:55That's for us to do.
- 58:56You have a you have to have a filter when you're in such a high position.
- 59:01You are one of 31 people in the world, not 32 because the Packers are owned by the fans.
- 59:07But you are one of 31 people in the world.
- 59:11You aren't on the same pedestal as you as I as I'm not going to say we're media, but
- 59:15pundits.
- 59:16I mean, that's even a stretch at this point.
- 59:18Hey, whatever, whatever.
- 59:19We'll take it.
- 59:20At the end of the day, like like we can say that the media can say that you can't come
- 59:25out and say that shit.
- 59:26I know.
- 59:27How much do you want to just like like Bryce Young's confidence can't be great right now.
- 59:31No, make it worse.
- 59:32Right.
- 59:33No shit.
- 59:34That's what I mean.
- 59:35That's what I mean.
- 59:36The dude's already not having a hell of a stellar year, but it's not the end of the
- 59:38world.
- 59:39Look at Trevor Lawrence.
- 59:40It's not the end of the world.
- 59:41You can still develop, but how are you supposed to develop if you you got a new coach every
- 59:46other year and you have no talent?
- 59:48There is no there's nothing else.
- 59:50There's nothing.
- 59:51Adam Thielen is still a good receiver in the NFL.
- 59:52He's not going to.
- 59:54He's not.
- 59:55You can't build around.
- 59:56He's not even like a one a one B. I mean, it's a stretch to say he's a he's your slot
- 1:00:02was Wes Welker type to get you a first down is what he is at this point in his career,
- 1:00:06which is great.
- 1:00:07You need that.
- 1:00:08You need the outside guys on a young team, you need that veteran presence in the wide
- 1:00:11receiver room, just in the offensive room.
- 1:00:13And he's the guy to do it.
- 1:00:14He is.
- 1:00:15But it's like but well, Myles Sanders was the free agent signing.
- 1:00:19Right.
- 1:00:20Right.
- 1:00:21But if you look at the Panthers like like both sides of the ball, can you name a foundational
- 1:00:25piece on either side of the ball?
- 1:00:27Absolutely.
- 1:00:28Bryce Young, Bryce Young, I'm not going to say is a foundational piece yet.
- 1:00:30I got to see more.
- 1:00:31You drafted him to do that.
- 1:00:32So I would say at the moment, maybe for the Patriots also drafted Mack Jones to be that
- 1:00:38whole.
- 1:00:39That's a whole.
- 1:00:40But at the end of the day, the one player you could make that argument for is Brian
- 1:00:43Burns.
- 1:00:44He's a stud.
- 1:00:45Sure.
- 1:00:46And you need that edge rusher in the modern day NFL.
- 1:00:48Yeah.
- 1:00:49But you have one foundational piece on your team.
- 1:00:51Now let's switch over to the Texans.
- 1:00:54They don't have any foundational pieces on their team outside of maybe CJ Stroud who's
- 1:00:58earned that.
- 1:00:59That's what's going on.
- 1:01:00And they are excelling with what they're given.
- 1:01:02You look at the divisions.
- 1:01:04They're both not.
- 1:01:05I mean, the AFC South has turned into a good division, but going into the year, I would
- 1:01:09say you could make an argument going into the year that they might be the two worst
- 1:01:13divisions in football.
- 1:01:14Yeah.
- 1:01:15Going into the year.
- 1:01:16Now let's change what the AFC South and what they're doing.
- 1:01:19But what the fuck, dude?
- 1:01:21Yeah, I know.
- 1:01:22I know.
- 1:01:23So if you're Bryce now, right, and you've seen that interview, I'd imagine he's watched
- 1:01:28it by now.
- 1:01:29Maybe not.
- 1:01:30Who knows?
- 1:01:31I'd imagine.
- 1:01:32He has at least heard of it.
- 1:01:33What's your mentality going into your next game then?
- 1:01:36I mean, obviously just do the best you can, right?
- 1:01:38But at this point, if you're on the Panthers, it's almost more about branding yourself.
- 1:01:42And I hate to flaunt that or try to not flaunt it, encourage that type of mentality to boost
- 1:01:49your own brand.
- 1:01:50But I don't know what else Bryce can do right now.
- 1:01:53I mean, if your owner's not really buying into you fully, he says he is kind of beating
- 1:01:58around the bush kind of way.
- 1:01:59But if he's not-
- 1:02:00What David Tepper says don't mean shit for what he actually thinks or does.
- 1:02:03You don't think so?
- 1:02:04Like, do you think they want to stick with-
- 1:02:05He says he's patient.
- 1:02:07He says he has Bryce Young's, like, he's confident in the pick, but then he fires his coach.
- 1:02:12He has no patience.
- 1:02:13And he comes out and says that, yeah, we probably should have drafted CJ Stroud.
- 1:02:15He didn't say that explicitly.
- 1:02:16Or we were going to draft CJ Stroud is what he said if we got up to two or whatever.
- 1:02:20And they ended up getting one and took Bryce because they trusted all their analytics and
- 1:02:24blah, blah, blah.
- 1:02:25And he went into that whole tangent.
- 1:02:27But it's just such a weird thing to say to me, man.
- 1:02:30And you know the worst thing about it for the Panthers?
- 1:02:33They don't got their first round pick next year and it's going to be number one.
- 1:02:37Oh, the Panthers.
- 1:02:40Are they the epitome of the NFL right now?
- 1:02:43Like what Detroit was like 15 years ago?
- 1:02:46It's too early to say that.
- 1:02:47I know.
- 1:02:48They're not that bad, right?
- 1:02:49They're not going 0-16 or now 0-17, but that's not the case.
- 1:02:53But-
- 1:02:54I mean, at the end of the day, they did the, like, they were the ninth worst team in the
- 1:02:57NFL last week.
- 1:02:58They're in, that's middle of the pack.
- 1:03:00But they went the wrong way.
- 1:03:02They did go the wrong way.
- 1:03:03They did go the wrong way.
- 1:03:05But it's, the team is so young and they have potential, like milestone foundational pieces
- 1:03:11in like CJ Stroud.
- 1:03:13I can't remember the tackle's name.
- 1:03:15It's like, they drafted him in the first round last year, the year before.
- 1:03:19It's like Enfano, Enfano or something like that.
- 1:03:21I know who you're talking about.
- 1:03:24They don't really have like a potential receiving threat.
- 1:03:27Right.
- 1:03:28You know, like-
- 1:03:29Well, the Texans?
- 1:03:30No, the-
- 1:03:31Oh, the Panthers, the Panthers.
- 1:03:32Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:33Sorry.
- 1:03:34Yeah, no, they really don't.
- 1:03:35There's nobody else.
- 1:03:36Who the hell else is even there?
- 1:03:37DJ Chark.
- 1:03:38Cool.
- 1:03:39Yeah, dude!
- 1:03:40Cool, sweet, sweet.
- 1:03:41So yeah, I mean, that's probably fine for the Bonehead of the week, but yeah, David
- 1:03:48Tepper, man.
- 1:03:49Bonehead.
- 1:03:50To week 13, Smelty, we have five games on the slate.
- 1:03:55One of them not being your Vikings because they are on a bye week.
- 1:03:58Thank God.
- 1:03:59Give you a little bit more time to recover.
- 1:04:02Let's start it off with the Packers.
- 1:04:04We have the Kansas City Chiefs traveling up to the Lambeau, taking on the Packers on Sunday
- 1:04:08night football.
- 1:04:10Packers are a six and a half point underdog.
- 1:04:13And I honestly don't know how the hell to feel about this, Smelty.
- 1:04:16They've looked real good the last two weeks.
- 1:04:19Defenses look good.
- 1:04:20J-Loves look good.
- 1:04:22But we haven't played the Chiefs.
- 1:04:24But this is the test right here.
- 1:04:26I am curious how they'll play.
- 1:04:28And they're at home at Lambeau, you said, right?
- 1:04:30So hey, them fans better bring it.
- 1:04:33They better bring it because who knows?
- 1:04:36And Taylor Swift has confirmed earlier in the year she will be at this game.
- 1:04:39Why?
- 1:04:40Because it's probably because it was like her.
- 1:04:42Who doesn't want to go to Lambeau, but why?
- 1:04:44Her and Simone Biles, I think, were like talking about or whatever because Jonathan Owens on
- 1:04:48the Packers is married to Simone Biles.
- 1:04:49So I don't know.
- 1:04:50I mean, she came out and said that.
- 1:04:51I mean, I don't know how much of it.
- 1:04:53I want to go to a game.
- 1:04:54I want to go to Lambeau.
- 1:04:55You have to.
- 1:04:56You really should.
- 1:04:57I do.
- 1:04:58Make it a point to see a Vikings Packers game at Lambeau.
- 1:04:59I've toured there.
- 1:05:00I've been in the locker room and I touched all the grass and shit.
- 1:05:02See, I haven't even done that, but I've been to like five or six games.
- 1:05:05It was cool.
- 1:05:06It's a very historic state.
- 1:05:08It was a cool vibe.
- 1:05:09I don't want to go in on the Packers.
- 1:05:10I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about.
- 1:05:12I'm taking the Chiefs on that game, though.
- 1:05:14I'm curious to see how the Packers offense does do.
- 1:05:19But the Chiefs are just too much, man.
- 1:05:21They look good.
- 1:05:22They're one of the AFC favorites, rightfully so.
- 1:05:25And they could we could see them in the big dance again this year for sure.
- 1:05:28I'm torn on this one, bro.
- 1:05:29I really am.
- 1:05:30Six and a half points is a lot.
- 1:05:32You know, it's a touchdown spread, essentially.
- 1:05:34It's what scares me is Steve Spagnola's ability to game plan and take out the best offensive
- 1:05:42like not threat per se, but the best thing your offense has going for you.
- 1:05:47Now, Aaron Jones is kind of expected to come back and play this week, which would be huge
- 1:05:51not only in the run game, but that check down ability shows up, though.
- 1:05:55He's got to show up if he plays.
- 1:05:57Yeah.
- 1:05:58And we got to give him the ball.
- 1:05:59Yeah.
- 1:06:00You know, so I think the biggest what this game really comes down to is three players
- 1:06:04were Sean Gary, Preston Smith and Lucas Van Ness.
- 1:06:07They're the edge threats for the Packers, containing Patrick Mahomes and not allowing
- 1:06:13him to get outside and do the Patrick Mahomes thing.
- 1:06:16I think control on the edge and not allowing him to scramble and make those plays, in my
- 1:06:21opinion, is going to be one of two things is going to be the deciding factor.
- 1:06:25The second factor is, do we have the ability to slow down the Kansas City rushing attack?
- 1:06:30They're not great top tier by any means, but Pacheco runs hard and he runs efficient,
- 1:06:36efficiently and he's shifty as hell.
- 1:06:38So I think I think that that right there, I think that's key.
- 1:06:42If you can shut down their Kansas City's rushing attack and just kind of dial in on Mahomes
- 1:06:46a little bit.
- 1:06:47Why not?
- 1:06:48Quay Walker, let's go.
- 1:06:50I think Quay Walker is the player to spotlight in this game because he's probably going to
- 1:06:54be tasked with like double covering and then we're going to obviously have safety help.
- 1:06:57But you know, it's I don't know if it's going to be Devondre or if it's going to be Quay
- 1:07:00that's going to be lined up with Kelsey.
- 1:07:02But Kelsey is going to have we're going to have to stop Kelsey to win this game.
- 1:07:05But saying that I'm taking the Packers to cover the spread.
- 1:07:08I don't know if they're necessarily going to win it, but six and a half points is just
- 1:07:11too much for me with the way that the Packers are playing right now.
- 1:07:13Fair enough.
- 1:07:14All right, let's move on.
- 1:07:15The Seattle Seahawks traveling down to Dallas.
- 1:07:19Cowboys are nine point favored in this game.
- 1:07:21Smelty.
- 1:07:22I get it with the way Seattle looked last week, but nine points is just way too much.
- 1:07:25I got the Seahawks in this one covering that nine.
- 1:07:27I'm going Cowboys for 17.
- 1:07:31I think the Cowboys are going to dog walk Seattle.
- 1:07:33Geno Smith is off bad right now and they're in Dallas.
- 1:07:39That place is going to be rock and they love them boys down there.
- 1:07:42So no way.
- 1:07:44I know nine's a lot, though, but I just it's a lot, dude.
- 1:07:48I'm going to take that risk.
- 1:07:49Just Dallas.
- 1:07:50They're just too good.
- 1:07:52Yeah, I'm hoping that the Seahawks can can game plan something good offensively.
- 1:07:57I hate the Cowboys personally, so I'd love to see it.
- 1:08:00I'd fuck my pick like I'd love to see Seattle beat them in their own house, but I don't
- 1:08:05I don't see it happening and not even not even not even the nine.
- 1:08:09I don't see it.
- 1:08:10Yeah.
- 1:08:11And saying that, I don't think the Seahawks are going to win this game, but I see this
- 1:08:14as a five to seven point game and just nine just too much for me.
- 1:08:17So I got the Seahawks in this one covering that spread.
- 1:08:20That leads us to the Broncos taking on the team.
- 1:08:22We just spent a lot of time talking about the Houston Texans.
- 1:08:25Texans are going into this game, hosting the Broncos as a three and a half point favorite.
- 1:08:29So this is low key borderline game of the week.
- 1:08:33No, it's not even close.
- 1:08:34Almost.
- 1:08:35I know.
- 1:08:36Well, compared to what our game is.
- 1:08:37Yes, I agree.
- 1:08:38Wasn't even a consideration.
- 1:08:39But like this is going to be a good game.
- 1:08:40I'm excited for this game.
- 1:08:41I really am.
- 1:08:42Two somewhat hot teams.
- 1:08:43Yes, the Texans are coming off an L, but but they look good.
- 1:08:46But they're looking good.
- 1:08:47I think this will be a really interesting matchup.
- 1:08:50I think they match up well.
- 1:08:51I think this one's going to be close.
- 1:08:52What do you got?
- 1:08:53So who's favorited again?
- 1:08:54Texans.
- 1:08:55Yeah, I got to go Texans.
- 1:08:56I got to go Texans.
- 1:08:57I'm going to disagree.
- 1:08:58I got the Broncos winning this game.
- 1:08:59I almost went Bronco.
- 1:09:00It's going to be a good game.
- 1:09:01I got Broncos money line.
- 1:09:02I would take the money line on this one.
- 1:09:03I don't need the three and a half points.
- 1:09:04And now for the sake of our segment, I'm going to take the three and a half points.
- 1:09:05But the Broncos look real good right now.
- 1:09:06You know, it's it's a good game.
- 1:09:07I think they're going to win this game.
- 1:09:08I think they're going to win this game.
- 1:09:09And now for the sake of our segment, I'm going to take the three and a half points.
- 1:09:18There's some inconsistencies.
- 1:09:19However, their defense is just top tier.
- 1:09:22It really is.
- 1:09:23That's a matchup for me.
- 1:09:25Their defense versus the Texans because Justin Simmons ran that defense when they played
- 1:09:30the Vikings and he shut everything down.
- 1:09:32So we'll see.
- 1:09:33I think it'll be a great game.
- 1:09:36That takes us then to Lions Saints down in the Superdome.
- 1:09:41Lions did not look good last week, nor did the Saints really.
- 1:09:44So that's tough, man.
- 1:09:46Lions are four and a half point favorite.
- 1:09:48I don't know what to make of the Lions at this point.
- 1:09:50I would make an argument the Saints have a better defense than the Packers.
- 1:09:52Now, I think that's gotten a lot closer than what it once was.
- 1:09:55But I'm not confident in saying the Saints have a better offense than the Packers right
- 1:09:59now, especially with a lot of a possibly being sidelined.
- 1:10:04This is a tough one for me, Smelty, just because of how and even last week, it's not like the
- 1:10:08Lions looked poor.
- 1:10:10The three fumbles by Goff is what cost them the game at the end of the day.
- 1:10:13And, you know, I don't know if Goff is going to continue that.
- 1:10:16You know, it's I don't see.
- 1:10:18And I don't think so.
- 1:10:19I think he'll clean it up.
- 1:10:20But I think this one's going to be closer than we would have thought.
- 1:10:25Another bucket list stadium to go to for sure.
- 1:10:28Another place that you do not want to play as a visiting team.
- 1:10:31I think Detroit wins, but man, I don't know if they'll fucking get that.
- 1:10:36I don't know if this matters, but I'm taking the Lions to cover that four and a half.
- 1:10:39I got this game is a 31 24.
- 1:10:41I think that's a good that's a good that's a good prediction.
- 1:10:44Yeah, I'll just go Lions to cover.
- 1:10:47I just don't think the Saints have enough.
- 1:10:49Like you said, especially with a lobby out, I mean, Alvin Kamara would really have to
- 1:10:53show up.
- 1:10:54And he's been another guy hit or miss any given week this week or this year.
- 1:10:59Yeah, the only game we've agreed on, sir.
- 1:11:01It's going to be.
- 1:11:02Yeah, it's the only game we've agreed on so far.
- 1:11:05So it's good.
- 1:11:06That's interesting.
- 1:11:07So we definitely got to come with some standings next week.
- 1:11:09Yeah.
- 1:11:10Yeah.
- 1:11:11And apologies, listeners.
- 1:11:12We did not do the homework and get that done this time.
- 1:11:13We will.
- 1:11:14We will.
- 1:11:15It's just been it's been busy, man.
- 1:11:17So that leads us to our actual game of the week.
- 1:11:20NSC Championship game rematch from last year.
- 1:11:23Forty Niners go into the city of the brotherly love or more commonly known as the brotherly
- 1:11:28shove nowadays.
- 1:11:29Take it on the Eagles.
- 1:11:30The Eagles are actually an underdog.
- 1:11:32Three points in this game.
- 1:11:35Forty Niners favored by three.
- 1:11:37This to me is a pick them.
- 1:11:38I don't even like the three point spread.
- 1:11:39I think this is a half point, one point odds here.
- 1:11:44And I really don't know which way to go.
- 1:11:46If this game was in 49 in San Fran, I'm taking the 49ers all day to cover that three points.
- 1:11:51But playing in Phillies real hard.
- 1:11:54I want to say Philly, but I don't know if they cover.
- 1:11:57They don't need to cover.
- 1:11:58Oh, they're the ones favored by three.
- 1:12:00I thought of their underdog San Fran.
- 1:12:01OK, so I think I did you in.
- 1:12:04I think Philly wins.
- 1:12:06I think at home is tough.
- 1:12:07However, if they're going to lose a game this year right now, this is the one that they'll
- 1:12:12lose.
- 1:12:13I think this is your NFC preview.
- 1:12:14NSC Championship preview right here.
- 1:12:16Absolutely.
- 1:12:17I think it's going to be the two best.
- 1:12:19They're hands on the two best teams in the NFC.
- 1:12:21Who else can contend with them?
- 1:12:22Maybe Dallas on a good day.
- 1:12:24That's a good day.
- 1:12:25Other than that, I don't see anybody else beating these two teams.
- 1:12:28The Lions just don't have the defense.
- 1:12:30I think this is...
- 1:12:32Did this get flexed at all?
- 1:12:34Or is this going to be a noon game?
- 1:12:35No, it's a three o'clock game.
- 1:12:36Three o'clock?
- 1:12:37OK, OK.
- 1:12:38It's too early to flex yet.
- 1:12:40Yeah, OK.
- 1:12:41Fair enough.
- 1:12:42So no, I think that's going to be a great game.
- 1:12:43Big test for that Eagles defense.
- 1:12:45And Brock Purdy, too.
- 1:12:46I don't know.
- 1:12:47All in all, a great game.
- 1:12:48I think the Eagles will pull it off, but that's going to be fun.
- 1:12:51I think if you would have asked me this question four weeks ago, it's Eagles, no question.
- 1:12:55I think with that Chase Young edition, Chase Young and Nick Bosa on the outsides, I don't
- 1:12:59think Hertz is going to be able to extend the play like he has.
- 1:13:03You're not going to be able to stop the brotherly shove.
- 1:13:06I don't think that's possible.
- 1:13:07Numbers would agree with me there.
- 1:13:09But this 49ers defense is just...
- 1:13:11They're just too good right now with that addition of Chase Young.
- 1:13:14And even losing...
- 1:13:15What's his name again?
- 1:13:16Hafanga?
- 1:13:17Hafanga, yep.
- 1:13:18Last week, they looked fine.
- 1:13:19They got it done.
- 1:13:20They just beat...
- 1:13:22And it's that 49ers offense.
- 1:13:24I don't see Philly being able to stop Kittle, Debo, and McCaffrey.
- 1:13:30Well that's just it, dude.
- 1:13:31There's so many weapons.
- 1:13:32This is the true test for that defense.
- 1:13:34I know we literally say this shit every week.
- 1:13:37Well, we need them to see a true test.
- 1:13:38We blah, blah, blah.
- 1:13:39This is it.
- 1:13:40That three-headed monster right now, if you dare add Brock Purdy to that third head, but
- 1:13:45with McCaffrey and Debo and Purdy, look out for IU, look out for Kittle.
- 1:13:50That's the thing.
- 1:13:51They got weapons everywhere.
- 1:13:52You throw in IU, who's kind of gone under the radar, per se, and he's leading the team
- 1:13:57in touchdowns.
- 1:13:58Because think about it.
- 1:13:59You're keeping an eye on McCaffrey, probably number one.
- 1:14:01Close number two is Debo.
- 1:14:03Kittle's right...
- 1:14:04I mean, dude, no wonder Brandon IU flies under the radar.
- 1:14:07Oh, for sure.
- 1:14:09So saying that, I got the 49ers covering that three points.
- 1:14:13That's gonna be a great game.
- 1:14:14I don't like it.
- 1:14:15I don't like it.
- 1:14:16That's gonna be a great game.
- 1:14:17Just as a one-point spreader, a pick-em, just even at that.
- 1:14:20I don't like picking the Niners here, but I just think that that defense is just playing
- 1:14:24out of their freaking mind right now.
- 1:14:26And I just...
- 1:14:27I don't know, man.
- 1:14:28Like I said, the Eagles haven't put a full game together.
- 1:14:31I think they're gonna need their best and a full game to win this game.
- 1:14:35If the Eagles played like they did against the Bills, the 49ers dog walk them.
- 1:14:39Yeah.
- 1:14:40Well, yeah, I don't know, dude.
- 1:14:42It's gonna be a great game.
- 1:14:44I'm excited for it.
- 1:14:45I'm excited for it.
- 1:14:46I'm excited for the game of the week.
- 1:14:47That's all for this podcast, guys.
