- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every. Day to record a.
- 0:14Podcast to teach distinctions, possibilities, new ways of
- 0:18thinking, and just bring some joy.
- 0:20Into the world. So welcome to the.
- 0:22Coop and let's start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:28Hey everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:31coop. And I'm actually in the chicken
- 0:32coop today, yes, because it's Sunday, no sessions to coach
- 0:35today and I get to be out here with them when they're outside
- 0:40when the sun is coming up. It's so sweet and nice that.
- 0:43I get to share. This again, hopefully this time
- 0:46change thing is going to happen next week and we're going to be
- 0:49it's a following week. I don't know, it's a couple
- 0:50weeks away, but we're close anyway, yes.
- 0:52And Rufus concurs. It's a better thing to be out
- 0:55here anyway. So today we are talking.
- 0:58About if. You are checking in on yourself.
- 1:01So what do I mean by this? It's like.
- 1:03How? How do?
- 1:05You know that things are going OK if you only look for things
- 1:10that are wrong all the time. Well, you really can't that.
- 1:12That's the. The big conundrum is.
- 1:14We forget that. We really can't do that.
- 1:17And unless we know we have to, we have to constantly find ways
- 1:20to check in. And one of the things that we
- 1:23suffer from as human beings is worrying if we're on track, how
- 1:26far off track we are. What do we still need to do the
- 1:29the worry list goes on and on and on and on and on.
- 1:31But how do? You essentially banish that.
- 1:33How do you put that aside and move?
- 1:34Forward to build a brighter days, brighter hours, brighter
- 1:39weeks it. All comes down to some very.
- 1:41Simple tactics that really help. And for me, one of the.
- 1:46Biggest. Biggest.
- 1:47Ones is being able to at. The end of the day, sit down and
- 1:50say OK. What worked well?
- 1:52What's it What went well today? What were the things that I
- 1:54feel? Good about today or I
- 1:56accomplished today. I tend.
- 1:58To say feel good about as. Opposed to accomplished because.
- 2:02If I. Accomplished something I'm I'm
- 2:05treating. It like it's A to do list
- 2:06whereas. If I'm.
- 2:08If I'm just saying, what do I feel good?
- 2:10About today well, that makes it so that I'm really, I feel
- 2:13really like solid that I made. Progress on something.
- 2:16I might not have been able to finish it, but I made some.
- 2:18Serious progress, and that is? What we're looking for
- 2:21essentially, so at the end of. Every day.
- 2:23I sit. Down and.
- 2:25I have. This list that I sit there and I
- 2:28write on this, basically it's a giant piece of paper.
- 2:30It's called like the week of Magic.
- 2:32And I can sit down and I can say, OK, what worked well today?
- 2:36And I dumped that all on to the piece.
- 2:38Of paper basically because I. Need to.
- 2:40Know. 100. Percent that I am on.
- 2:43Track as far as I'm still making progress, I don't have to have
- 2:47it be perfect anymore. I don't have to have it be.
- 2:50Complete. I just have to be making
- 2:51progress. And every little increment makes
- 2:54a big difference. So if I ignore the little
- 2:56increments until they're all done, then I miss all these
- 2:59opportunities. To celebrate.
- 3:01Here's what's really. Tricky about.
- 3:02This my. Friends.
- 3:04You can't look for other people to celebrate with you.
- 3:06You can't. They can't celebrate themselves.
- 3:08How? Are they?
- 3:09Ever. Going to celebrate you.
- 3:10And we are. So caught up.
- 3:12In. The fact that we want other
- 3:14people. To celebrate us, I mean, I am
- 3:17100%. I admit that that is.
- 3:19A. Thing for.
- 3:20Me, I love it. I love getting the gold stars.
- 3:23I. Love when someone else like I
- 3:25can make somebody. Feel fantastic?
- 3:27But the thing about it is, over the years I've morphed it.
- 3:31I've made it so that I have a different belief around it, yes.
- 3:35I still love the gold stars. But I give them to myself and if
- 3:40another. Person doesn't give.
- 3:41It to me, does it make me sad? Sure, it can make me sad at the
- 3:45same time, I know. I still did a.
- 3:48Good job. And that maybe the reason I
- 3:50didn't get it from them is because they can't see it even
- 3:52for themselves, let alone for me.
- 3:54So I have to have some awareness in that about what's actually
- 3:58happening. Just that.
- 3:59Teeny tiny piece of awareness can really help break down.
- 4:03A lot. Of the challenges inside.
- 4:05Of. Us about.
- 4:06Feeling bad and saying. OK, well.
- 4:08Here we go again, you know, we go back to.
- 4:10The worrying. Phase We go back to the.
- 4:12Looping phase and feeling that overwhelming mental exhaustion
- 4:16from just being constantly under the gun and doing that to
- 4:20ourselves so. The trick is really.
- 4:24Taking those incremental wins and acknowledging them fully.
- 4:28And by fully, I mean, for me, it's writing them down.
- 4:31For me, it's just saying, you know, OK, this was a small win,
- 4:34but it was a good one. So yesterday there's a lot to do
- 4:37on the farm springtime. I go into this whole different
- 4:42phase about getting ready for spring and as we enter you.
- 4:46Know the. Last.
- 4:46Week of February. And we're going to go into
- 4:48March. Seeds are going into the flats
- 4:51in the garage today. All the grow lights are being
- 4:55turned on. There's so much cleanup that
- 4:58needs to be done to get ready out here.
- 5:00Just endless amounts of cleanup to get ready and planning and
- 5:04straightening the girls. Coop.
- 5:07Area. Inside the coop is always great.
- 5:10But I still want to do a full spring cleaning in there as soon
- 5:13as it warms up so that I can be out here and not freeze doing
- 5:16it. Their whole playground fell
- 5:19over. It has.
- 5:19To be reconstructed. The ice storm we had took it
- 5:23out. I have to redo that.
- 5:25Everywhere you turn around, there's something to be done.
- 5:28And so when that's taking place, I could sit there and be like
- 5:32overwhelmed with it or. I could.
- 5:33Just go. Each little stuff is a win.
- 5:35So yesterday I cleaned. Out their.
- 5:37Coop at for every every two. To three.
- 5:40Weeks I strip it down, put all new straw in it, clean it out to
- 5:43make sure there's nothing happening in here that I don't
- 5:45know about meeting bugs or anything else, and got that all
- 5:49done. So now I have 2 1/2 three weeks
- 5:52of cleanliness so that I can go ahead and say all right, now I
- 5:56can work on the other stuff I didn't.
- 5:58Say that. I needed to have everything in
- 6:01there run done. I got this done and that felt
- 6:04great. So you see, take the increments
- 6:06wins, take the incremental wins and you will feel so much
- 6:09better. Just start that process because
- 6:12otherwise you're going to exhaust yourself with that.
- 6:14All right my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I will
- 6:17see you all tomorrow. Bye.
