- 0:03Speaker 1: So we are back on by the show with normalist
- 0:06Speaker 1: takes for when the news gets weird. I am Mary,
- 0:09Speaker 1: Kathy aam.
- 0:10Speaker 2: And I am Carol Marco. It's how are you married, Katherine.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I'm doing pretty good. I have a funny story from
- 0:16Speaker 1: our weird job, sort of mill you.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:19Speaker 1: At my kid's school, they're having a fundraising gala for
- 0:23Speaker 1: the like an anniversary of the school's founding, and the
- 0:27Speaker 1: woman who is running it is very organized, very together,
- 0:31Speaker 1: and I run into her at church and school, and
- 0:33Speaker 1: I inevitably run into her when I'm a hot mess,
- 0:36Speaker 1: like I'm just disorganized, I'm late. I have maybe three children,
- 0:39Speaker 1: maybe four children, we don't know, and who knows. Always,
- 0:41Speaker 1: like you can tell, she's always sort of scratching her
- 0:44Speaker 1: head about me, like what's this lady's deal. She messaged
- 0:47Speaker 1: me yesterday and said I've been asking around about who
- 0:50Speaker 1: should m see the gala and the only name I
- 0:53Speaker 1: got was yours.
- 0:55Speaker 2: And she's like, and I don't understand. She said, tell
- 0:59Speaker 2: me more about yourself.
- 1:00Speaker 4: She said, I didn't know you had public speaking skills,
- 1:02Speaker 4: and I was like, yeah, it's I'm not joking when
- 1:06Speaker 4: it's maybe the only thing I do well, so she
- 1:10Speaker 4: has to.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Be mystified like this woman she's like I was quite
- 1:13Speaker 1: sure she had a learning disability, but she seems to
- 1:15Speaker 1: have a real people job.
- 1:18Speaker 2: So there you're going, Yeah, yeah, I like it.
- 1:21Speaker 5: It's you show that that organized lady that you can
- 1:24Speaker 5: do stuff too.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I can do one thing, and I a yeah, so
- 1:30Speaker 1: I'm going to be doing that. I guess I love it.
- 1:32Speaker 2: I hope we could see clips.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Maybe yes, well, I'll see what I can do. Well,
- 1:37Speaker 1: that light story to lead us into a pretty serious story,
- 1:41Speaker 1: which is that this week is the anniversary of the
- 1:44Speaker 1: abby Gate bombing in Afghanistan, which happened upon the hasty
- 1:49Speaker 1: withdrawal of all troops from Afghanistan under the Biden administration
- 1:53Speaker 1: in twenty twenty one, and it was the anniversary of
- 1:56Speaker 1: that bombing and therefore the anniversary of the loss of
- 1:59Speaker 1: the loss of thirty teen service members in that bombing,
- 2:02Speaker 1: along with a lot of other civilians who were also
- 2:04Speaker 1: at that gate for that bombing. Trump, as he is
- 2:07Speaker 1: wont to do with this group of folks, honored the
- 2:11Speaker 1: families of the Abbygate thirteen in the Oval Office on
- 2:15Speaker 1: the anniversary, with all of them surrounding the resolute desk,
- 2:19Speaker 1: and he said a few words about it. He signed
- 2:21Speaker 1: a proclamation honoring them. Finally, and we'll get into that,
- 2:27Speaker 1: but let's play a little clip of him asking JD. Vance,
- 2:30Speaker 1: the Vice President, to say a few words while in
- 2:32Speaker 1: this room with all the families, who, by the way,
- 2:34Speaker 1: have the spotlight, not JD. Vance, the families behind Trump
- 2:37Speaker 1: have the spotlight. He throws it to JD. This is
- 2:40Speaker 1: what Vance had to say.
- 2:42Speaker 3: I think it's a great JD.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Do you want to say a couple of words, bas.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Oh, sir, I just second what you said. We're so
- 2:47Speaker 3: honored to have all of you here. I know that
- 2:49Speaker 3: days like today can't make the hurt go away, but
- 2:51Speaker 3: hopefully four years old, we could start to remember with
- 2:55Speaker 3: fondness and.
- 2:56Speaker 1: With a little bit of joy.
- 2:57Speaker 3: The people that were taken from us were so proud
- 2:59Speaker 3: of you. We're so proud of your loved ones for
- 3:00Speaker 3: giving their life for our country. And I think importantly
- 3:03Speaker 3: today this is a rectification of a wrong, the fact
- 3:06Speaker 3: that the president of the United States lost your loved ones
- 3:09Speaker 3: through incompetence, but never acknowledge it, and your government never
- 3:13Speaker 3: actually put pen to paper to say we're grateful for
- 3:16Speaker 3: your sacrifice. We correct that wrong today and we're to
- 3:19Speaker 3: keep on fight and understand, as Pete said, and what
- 3:21Speaker 3: happens so it never happens to another family again. But
- 3:23Speaker 3: God love you all, God bless you. We're so thrilled
- 3:25Speaker 3: to have you here in the People's Oval Office.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Thank you, thank you.
- 3:29Speaker 1: And I I don't think they ever heard from Biden
- 3:32Speaker 1: or anybody, didn't you never speak of This is.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Trump at his best.
- 3:36Speaker 5: He is actually very empathetic to these people. I think
- 3:41Speaker 5: that the fact that he does keep remembering them, Yes,
- 3:45Speaker 5: is it a shot of Biden, Of course it is,
- 3:47Speaker 5: But he doesn't have to. He doesn't have to bring
- 3:49Speaker 5: them into the Oval Office, he doesn't have to commemorate
- 3:51Speaker 5: the loss of their loved ones. He doesn't actually have
- 3:54Speaker 5: to do any of this. And it's actually so surprising
- 3:57Speaker 5: that the Biden administration whiffed this PR from the PR
- 4:01Speaker 5: perspective so badly. And it's amazing that Trump. You know,
- 4:05Speaker 5: he's very good at putting on any production, and I
- 4:08Speaker 5: think that this is a one that he does very well,
- 4:10Speaker 5: showing how much he cares about these military families.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Yeah, and they deserve it. And another point on this,
- 4:16Speaker 1: Trump did what Biden didn't do because a lot of
- 4:19Speaker 1: people do say he only does this because it's a
- 4:21Speaker 1: shot at Biden. But Trump did the thing. Remember at
- 4:25Speaker 1: his State of the Union when he brought in the
- 4:28Speaker 1: widow of a slain Navy seal, Karen Owens. Her husband
- 4:33Speaker 1: was Operator Senior Chief William Ryan Owens. He died in
- 4:38Speaker 1: an operation that Trump was commander in chief for. That
- 4:41Speaker 1: is something that could have been a liability for him,
- 4:44Speaker 1: and he brought her there to honor her husband's sacrifice.
- 4:48Speaker 2: It's a very good point. Yeah.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Do you know what the response of the media was
- 4:52Speaker 1: that he was using her as a political.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Prop He can't win at all.
- 4:59Speaker 1: He can't win, and I've always been mad about that.
- 5:01Speaker 1: I spoke up about it at the time and said, look,
- 5:03Speaker 1: this woman is not a prop. She's a widow who
- 5:06Speaker 1: wants to get the recognition for her husband that he deserves,
- 5:09Speaker 1: just as the Abbigate families wanted the recognition that their
- 5:13Speaker 1: relatives deserve. And it was a long time coming. And
- 5:17Speaker 1: I have written about this before and it is one
- 5:20Speaker 1: of the most shameful episodes of the Biden administration that
- 5:24Speaker 1: this happened at all, but the way it was treated
- 5:27Speaker 1: after actually made it worse. So a couple things. The
- 5:30Speaker 1: Abbygate thirteen were never honored in a State of the
- 5:34Speaker 1: Union speech a joint Session speech until twenty twenty five,
- 5:37Speaker 1: when Trump honored them by announcing the arrest of the
- 5:42Speaker 1: man who masterminded this bombing. I don't know if you
- 5:45Speaker 1: remember this, but he had Cash Betel out on the
- 5:48Speaker 1: tarmac accepting the transfer of the custody of this suspect.
- 5:53Speaker 1: So that was the first time while Biden was president.
- 5:57Speaker 1: The only speech he gave about the Afghan Ganna Sanudral,
- 6:00Speaker 1: he termed it an extraordinary success. Oops. There were also
- 6:04Speaker 1: several other service members, by the way, that died right
- 6:06Speaker 1: before his State of the Unions that he never mentioned either.
- 6:10Speaker 1: And then I was looking through the rest of it
- 6:12Speaker 1: and I couldn't believe re remembering how bad it got.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Because Biden always gets credit for being the consoler in chief.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Yeah, except if nothing else.
- 6:21Speaker 5: He's always seen as the hugging guy, right, the guy
- 6:23Speaker 5: who's hugging everyone.
- 6:25Speaker 1: He's the empathizer. And I felt like I was taking
- 6:27Speaker 1: crazy pills during the Biden administration because I was like,
- 6:29Speaker 1: this guy is the opposite of empathetic. Remember when they
- 6:32Speaker 1: did the dignified transfer at Dover for the Avigate thirteen.
- 6:36Speaker 1: He got in trouble for checking his watch. Jinsaki, his
- 6:40Speaker 1: former press secretary, later tried to airbrush that out of
- 6:43Speaker 1: history in her book and got called on it and
- 6:45Speaker 1: had to make a correction to her book because she
- 6:48Speaker 1: said he didn't check his watch. He indeed did. They
- 6:51Speaker 1: were made to wait hours before being greeted by the
- 6:54Speaker 1: president for years. He wouldn't take their calls or meetings.
- 6:58Speaker 1: And you know who did, Donald Trump. Donald Trump took
- 7:03Speaker 1: their calls, took their meetings. Joe Biden also, you'll remember,
- 7:08Speaker 1: repeatedly referred to himself as a man who had lost
- 7:11Speaker 1: his son in Iraq, which he did not lose his
- 7:14Speaker 1: son in arrest. And he was not a gold Star father.
- 7:18Speaker 1: His son served honorably but died of cancer outside of combat.
- 7:22Speaker 1: That is different. I have a couple other things then,
- 7:27Speaker 1: I don't know if you remember this. At the State
- 7:29Speaker 1: of the Union in the last year of Biden's presidency,
- 7:34Speaker 1: one of the fathers of one of the Abbygate thirteens
- 7:37Speaker 1: showed up at the State of the Union and he
- 7:40Speaker 1: admittedly disrupted the State of the Union by yelling Abby
- 7:44Speaker 1: Gate and US Marine Corps. He was arrested. He was
- 7:49Speaker 1: arrested and charged for doing that at the State of
- 7:53Speaker 1: the Union. That's how bad it got. And one more
- 7:55Speaker 1: for the media, Kamala accused Trump of sizing the deaths
- 8:00Speaker 1: of the abbey Gate thirteen when he went to honor
- 8:03Speaker 1: them at Arlington at the invitation of thirteen service members families, right,
- 8:09Speaker 1: and they turned it into a national news story. Dana
- 8:13Speaker 1: Bash had Tolsey Gabbardon to answer for this on CNN,
- 8:19Speaker 1: and Dana Bash, in mentioning it, said, you know, she
- 8:22Speaker 1: had all these questions about protocol and whether this was
- 8:24Speaker 1: legal and campaign finance. What she didn't know is that
- 8:27Speaker 1: it was the third anniversary of this bombing and of
- 8:29Speaker 1: their deaths. She said, I think it happened about two
- 8:32Speaker 1: years ago, and Gabbard was like, it's the third year
- 8:35Speaker 1: anniversary because they don't even know that. Because it's a
- 8:40Speaker 1: political liability for Biden, Biden decided he wasn't going to
- 8:44Speaker 1: deal with it, and the press was like, Roger that
- 8:47Speaker 1: And it is, like you.
- 8:47Speaker 5: Said, has leaned into it like Trump did with his
- 8:51Speaker 5: own military loss. We would be talking about something else
- 8:55Speaker 5: entirely right now.
- 8:56Speaker 2: And he didn't and he.
- 8:58Speaker 5: Ducked that political liability, and it was pretty disgraceful.
- 9:03Speaker 1: It's so disgraceful, and it's just it is a terrible
- 9:05Speaker 1: job of the commander in chief to face up to
- 9:07Speaker 1: the losses that people who sacrifice for this country make.
- 9:11Speaker 1: It's not easy, right, but one must do it, even
- 9:15Speaker 1: if the mission of the job, especially if the missions
- 9:19Speaker 1: were ordered by you. Yeah, And I just I find
- 9:24Speaker 1: the neglect of this story and these families so gross.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I am so glad that Trump has been the one
- 9:30Speaker 1: to elevate them. Pete Hegseth also mentioned them at the
- 9:33Speaker 1: Cabinet meeting yesterday. They were given a primetime spot at
- 9:38Speaker 1: the RNC convention, which was one of the most moving
- 9:41Speaker 1: parts of the convention. And just God bless all of them.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I am so glad that they're finally getting the right
- 9:47Speaker 1: n that they deserve real quickly. It is very solemn.
- 9:49Speaker 1: But I do want to have Jessic Kelly's going to
- 9:52Speaker 1: read the names of the thirteen following.
- 9:56Speaker 6: Marine Lance Corporal David L. Espinoza of Rio Bravo, Texas
- 10:02Speaker 6: Marine Corps, Sergeant Nicole L. G twenty three of Sacramento,
- 10:07Speaker 6: California Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Darren T. Hoover of Salt
- 10:11Speaker 6: Lake City Army Staff Sergeant Ryan C. Naos of Corton, Tennessee.
- 10:18Speaker 6: Marine Corps Corporal Hunter Lopez of Indio, California. Marine Corlance
- 10:25Speaker 6: Corporal Riley Jay McCollum of Jackson, Wyoming. Marine Corlance Corporal
- 10:31Speaker 6: Dylan R. Morola of Rancho Cucamonga, California. Marine Corplance Corporal
- 10:38Speaker 6: Kareem n Nicau of Norco, California. Marine Corps Sergeant Johnny
- 10:45Speaker 6: Rosario Picardo of Lawrence, Massachusetts. Marine Corps Corporal Umberto A.
- 10:52Speaker 6: Sanchez of Longsport, Indiana. Marine Corps Lance Corporal Jared M.
- 10:58Speaker 6: Schmidts of Saint Charles, Missouri. Navy Hospital Corman Maxton W.
- 11:05Speaker 6: Sovieac of Berlin Heights, Ohio, and Marine Corps Corporal Dagan W.
- 11:11Speaker 6: Page of Omaha, Nebraska. Rest in Peace Warriors.
- 11:18Speaker 1: It was Kareem Nakoui's father who was the one who
- 11:21Speaker 1: was arrested at Biden's last State of the Union, and
- 11:24Speaker 1: luckily charges were dropped because somebody saw reason there. But
- 11:27Speaker 1: that's how bad it got during the Biden administration.
- 11:30Speaker 5: Yeah, it's sad, and I'm sad for these families that
- 11:34Speaker 5: they've had to deal with this for so long. I
- 11:37Speaker 5: hope that Trump's support gives them some comfort. Trump isn't
- 11:41Speaker 5: always perfect, but he is pretty close to perfect on
- 11:45Speaker 5: this on this issue.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Yeah, we're going.
- 11:48Speaker 2: To take a short break.
- 11:49Speaker 5: Actually, that segment we called it Good Trump, and the
- 11:52Speaker 5: next segment is called Bad Trump. Stick around on Normally,
- 11:56Speaker 5: where we will have fewer good things to say about
- 11:58Speaker 5: Donald Trump in the next be right back.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Welcome back to.
- 12:05Speaker 5: Normally, where our first segment we celebrated Trump his accomplishments
- 12:09Speaker 5: and the way that he treats military families.
- 12:12Speaker 2: We really appreciate it and like that quite a bit.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Now we're going to talk about some things we like
- 12:16Speaker 2: a little bit less.
- 12:18Speaker 5: I think we're going to kick it off with the
- 12:21Speaker 5: government for some reason getting a stake in a private company.
- 12:26Speaker 5: Intel will now be partially owned by our federal government.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Why why is that happening?
- 12:33Speaker 1: The simplest answer is that Trump finds the quickest and
- 12:38Speaker 1: simplest path to whatever is the thing that he wants
- 12:40Speaker 1: to do slash solve. So a bunch of subsidies went
- 12:44Speaker 1: out the door to Intel in Budy.
- 12:47Speaker 5: He's like, why shouldn't we get a piece of this exactly.
- 12:50Speaker 1: We just reached a piece of that action for the
- 12:52Speaker 1: eleven billion or whatever it is. The problem is that
- 12:56Speaker 1: as a private businessman, that would be the correct move, however,
- 13:01Speaker 1: but as the head of state, yeah, it is not.
- 13:05Speaker 1: And how Lutnik, the Commerce Secretary, was trying to explain
- 13:09Speaker 1: how this was capitalism at yesterday's meeting because a lot
- 13:12Speaker 1: of people had said, hmm, seizing the means of production
- 13:15Speaker 1: doesn't seem very big deal, and Lutnik was like, no, no, no,
- 13:19Speaker 1: this isn't socialism. This is capitalism because we're getting a
- 13:22Speaker 1: better deal for the American taxpayers than these subsidies, which
- 13:26Speaker 1: were just giveaways. Now we have a stake. Okay, I
- 13:30Speaker 1: understand that argument. And also if you're the government, it's
- 13:33Speaker 1: not capitalism.
- 13:34Speaker 5: Right, It's like, it's not it's just really basic. And
- 13:37Speaker 5: you know, I again, it's easy to understand what they're saying.
- 13:41Speaker 2: And a lot of the defense of Trump is like, well,
- 13:43Speaker 2: we were.
- 13:44Speaker 5: Getting nothing from from these companies under all these other administrations.
- 13:47Speaker 2: At least Trump is getting us something, which, like you said,
- 13:51Speaker 2: is fair. But I just don't want the government to.
- 13:55Speaker 5: Be in the business of owning pieces of private companies.
- 13:58Speaker 5: That literally is socialism, That literally is communism. You know,
- 14:01Speaker 5: I just think that we're heading down a real bad path.
- 14:05Speaker 5: And I'm concerned because I feel like there's this and
- 14:08Speaker 5: you know, you and I have talked about this and
- 14:09Speaker 5: I wrote about it during the first Trump administration. But
- 14:12Speaker 5: there's this sense like you have to love everything Trump
- 14:15Speaker 5: does or you have to hate everything Trump does. And
- 14:17Speaker 5: we try to walk the line on this show and
- 14:21Speaker 5: talk about the good things that we think and the
- 14:23Speaker 5: bad things that we think. The thing is that all
- 14:25Speaker 5: the people who are lining up to say that this
- 14:28Speaker 5: is okay and this is normal would lose their minds
- 14:31Speaker 5: if the Biden administration did this.
- 14:33Speaker 2: And if that's the case, you have to kind of
- 14:35Speaker 2: stay consistent and you can say you change your.
- 14:38Speaker 5: Mind about the whole I don't know socialism thing, but
- 14:41Speaker 5: be consistent and admit that you know what you really
- 14:44Speaker 5: think here, and I urge other conservatives to do that.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Yeah, And it's also ideologically I don't like it, but
- 14:51Speaker 1: I think it's bad economic policy to have the government
- 14:55Speaker 1: have a real motivation to make one company profitable for another.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Now you can tell me, and you'd be correct that
- 15:03Speaker 1: the left has done this forever, like it's like jaw
- 15:05Speaker 1: boning on steroids. We're going to give money to these
- 15:08Speaker 1: guys and not to these guys, picking winners and losers.
- 15:11Speaker 1: The thing that we've always said we don't want them
- 15:14Speaker 1: to do. The thing to do would be to do
- 15:17Speaker 1: a recision package on those subsidies instead of clawing back
- 15:24Speaker 1: the subsidies with a US government stake in a private
- 15:28Speaker 1: company who's president. By the way, I think Trump said
- 15:30Speaker 1: like three weeks ago should be fired because of his
- 15:33Speaker 1: ties to the CCP, Right like wait, now, we're buds. Now,
- 15:37Speaker 1: we're just gonna patch that right up right. They're also
- 15:41Speaker 1: talking about wanting steaks in other companies. By the way,
- 15:45Speaker 1: if you're an American chip maker, and I believe there
- 15:47Speaker 1: is one, if you're other chip makers that do work
- 15:50Speaker 1: in the United States, how does this work out for you?
- 15:53Speaker 2: Poorly?
- 15:54Speaker 1: Because he is going to be the one that the
- 15:57Speaker 1: government is going to cut all the brakes for, is
- 15:59Speaker 1: going to let them get away with whatever regulation violations
- 16:03Speaker 1: they make because they have a stake in it.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Now, right, Yeah, this can't go on.
- 16:08Speaker 5: I don't know how this is going to unfold itself,
- 16:11Speaker 5: but this obviously can't can't happen.
- 16:15Speaker 1: By the way, on another tech, can I say, on
- 16:17Speaker 1: another tech related a violation of the law, TikTok should
- 16:20Speaker 1: not exist on American.
- 16:22Speaker 2: App Hell yeah, that is like absolutely, the law said it.
- 16:28Speaker 1: The law said it, the score.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Said yeah, exactly. And look, I don't know.
- 16:33Speaker 5: I don't know how the Trump administration is going to
- 16:37Speaker 5: be have to have this enforced.
- 16:40Speaker 2: You know, all remains to be seen. But yeah, I
- 16:43Speaker 2: don't like any of it.
- 16:44Speaker 5: And speaking of things we don't like, yesterday Donald Trump
- 16:48Speaker 5: signed an executive order banning flag burning. Neither you nor
- 16:53Speaker 5: I are fans of the burning of the American flag,
- 16:57Speaker 5: but we both think that this is a stake.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Yeah, here's the thing. The executive order, I think is
- 17:04Speaker 1: written in such a way as to steer clear of
- 17:07Speaker 1: the famous mid eighties Scotis decision on this, in which
- 17:11Speaker 1: Scalia was the conservative crossover who said, Hey, I would
- 17:16Speaker 1: put everyone in jail who burns American flag if I could.
- 17:19Speaker 1: But I'm not in charge. The Constitution's in charge, and
- 17:22Speaker 1: this is speech, and this piece of cloth is not
- 17:25Speaker 1: given special privilege in this country beyond that all the
- 17:31Speaker 1: other stuff that we prize as speech. So I think
- 17:33Speaker 1: it's a stunt. I think it's written to steer clear
- 17:36Speaker 1: of that Scotis decision. Nonetheless, it will probably go through
- 17:38Speaker 1: the courts because you can't just like executive order anything
- 17:41Speaker 1: you want to do.
- 17:42Speaker 2: That's right.
- 17:43Speaker 1: I think it is bait to the left where he
- 17:47Speaker 1: just wants them to be out burning his American flags
- 17:49Speaker 1: as possible.
- 17:50Speaker 2: He seem all on that. Yeah, then they're going to
- 17:52Speaker 2: fall for it.
- 17:53Speaker 1: They will.
- 17:53Speaker 2: They're all going to fall for it.
- 17:55Speaker 1: And this is Trump again finding the shortest line between
- 17:58Speaker 1: like the thing he wants to do and himself. He's like, oh, well,
- 18:02Speaker 1: just executive order. I don't like five burning ick. I
- 18:04Speaker 1: want these guys to do it and make fools of themselves.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Here we go. Right, But that doesn't mean it's advisable.
- 18:10Speaker 1: That doesn't mean it's legal. It doesn't mean I don't
- 18:13Speaker 1: like the idea that you use executive orders just to
- 18:16Speaker 1: rile people up politically. I don't think it's a wise
- 18:19Speaker 1: use of executive power. Right Again, our friends on the
- 18:22Speaker 1: right will say the left has been doing this all along, agreed. Yeah,
- 18:27Speaker 1: the thing to do is not always to do exactly
- 18:30Speaker 1: what the left has done, whether it's Obama's pin and
- 18:33Speaker 1: phone or Biden's auto pen, and definitely not the phone
- 18:36Speaker 1: because he can't he's not capable of talking on the phone,
- 18:38Speaker 1: Like I don't want.
- 18:39Speaker 5: That, right. Well, we talked about last episode where it's
- 18:42Speaker 5: hard to find the line and it's hard to hear
- 18:45Speaker 5: the left say, you know, Trump shouldn't be doing this
- 18:48Speaker 5: kind of stuff by executive order, and it's like, you
- 18:51Speaker 5: guys did lots of stuff by executive order.
- 18:53Speaker 2: You made this happen.
- 18:54Speaker 5: So I really don't know again what they can do
- 18:58Speaker 5: to make Trump stop and not behave the way that
- 19:00Speaker 5: they've behaved. But they're going to fall for the trap
- 19:03Speaker 5: that he has so masterfully said it for them.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Yes, although can I say this is like one of
- 19:08Speaker 1: my least conservative opinions. Probably, no, it is a conservative opinion,
- 19:12Speaker 1: but on this one it's not. It's like, I have
- 19:14Speaker 1: sympathy for the idea that when someone threatens to take
- 19:17Speaker 1: a rite from you, even if that right is despicable
- 19:19Speaker 1: when expressed that people want to take a stand and
- 19:22Speaker 1: go like you can't take this from me, Like that's
- 19:25Speaker 1: that's what I did in twenty twenty when they were
- 19:27Speaker 1: like you can't go to church or have a barbecue,
- 19:29Speaker 1: it was like, I'm having people over to my house.
- 19:31Speaker 7: Ex right, people, I might not post about it quite
- 19:34Speaker 7: as loudly as I used to, Yeah, but I understand
- 19:38Speaker 7: the impulse, and yet it is going to get them
- 19:41Speaker 7: in huge political trouble.
- 19:42Speaker 5: Well, we'll be right back with our last segment where
- 19:45Speaker 5: we'll stop talking about Trump and talk about Hey, Taylor Swift,
- 19:49Speaker 5: why not?
- 19:50Speaker 1: We got to do it alrighty, we have to get
- 19:55Speaker 1: to the not just the Taylor Swift of it all.
- 19:58Speaker 1: That's we're gonna that's our finality. But the Cracker Barrel,
- 20:02Speaker 1: Cracker Barrel, beloved roadside stop for home made victuals, yep,
- 20:08Speaker 1: I love it especially got into a big old controversy
- 20:11Speaker 1: this week because they revamped their logo and importantly their
- 20:15Speaker 1: dining rooms to be much more minimalist, much more corporate feeling,
- 20:19Speaker 1: much more modern than they had been in the past.
- 20:22Speaker 1: And there was a backlash and then there was a
- 20:25Speaker 1: cultural discussion and it kind of got all out of hand.
- 20:28Speaker 1: But they have said, after a week of this, basically,
- 20:32Speaker 1: never mind, We're going back to the old guy sitting
- 20:34Speaker 1: next to the barrel.
- 20:36Speaker 2: We like him.
- 20:37Speaker 1: But it became a hole to do with people saying
- 20:39Speaker 1: this is the wokest agenda, And I was kind of like, no,
- 20:42Speaker 1: I think it's just a stupid thing.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Right, I think it's just corporate stupidity. Really yeah, yeah,
- 20:49Speaker 2: but is it?
- 20:49Speaker 1: But is it corporate stupidity partly because they're so incredibly
- 20:53Speaker 1: out of touch in C suites with normal time totally?
- 20:56Speaker 5: Yes, that's what it is. Is that wokeness maybe. I
- 20:59Speaker 5: mean I've seen a lot of conservatives point out that
- 21:01Speaker 5: they have done woke stuff over the years, but I
- 21:03Speaker 5: did not associate it with wokeness. I just associated with
- 21:07Speaker 5: fearful and like you said, out of touch C suite professionals.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Yeah, but the real Yeah.
- 21:14Speaker 1: There's there's a point there. I think John Podhortz actually
- 21:18Speaker 1: made a great point where he said, I think the
- 21:20Speaker 1: cultural backlash here is for conservatives. If we can't have
- 21:25Speaker 1: the NFL, if we can't have cracker Barrel, what can
- 21:28Speaker 1: we have?
- 21:29Speaker 2: Right, what do we get?
- 21:30Speaker 1: Cracker barrel is right of center? Okay, yes, the hometown
- 21:34Speaker 1: for us leave it alone.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, Well, let's get to the biggest story
- 21:38Speaker 2: of the week.
- 21:38Speaker 5: Obviously, and I say that in jest, although obviously I've
- 21:42Speaker 5: got like every single news outlet in the whole world
- 21:46Speaker 5: sent me in alert yesterday, including like the New York
- 21:48Speaker 5: Times and other big outlets that Taylor Swift and Travis
- 21:52Speaker 5: Kelcey are engaged.
- 21:55Speaker 2: People are very.
- 21:55Speaker 5: Excited about it, and I think that's a nice thing.
- 21:58Speaker 5: Ben Shapiro says that he hopes it promotes marriage. My
- 22:02Speaker 5: friend Anika Rothsteen her account on x Is at Truth
- 22:05Speaker 5: and Fiction. She posted, I've never listened to Taylor Swift,
- 22:08Speaker 5: but in the last eighteen hours, I've watched one hundred
- 22:11Speaker 5: videos of her boyfriend loving her out loud and gushing
- 22:14Speaker 5: over what happens to a woman when she feels safe
- 22:16Speaker 5: in a relationship. Rarely been so happy for a complete stranger.
- 22:21Speaker 2: I love that.
- 22:22Speaker 5: That really is the vibe shift with this whole Taylor story.
- 22:25Speaker 5: Her previous men hid her from the public and culturally,
- 22:29Speaker 5: you know, not related to Taylor Swift, but showing affection
- 22:33Speaker 5: became seen as.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Cringe and all of that.
- 22:36Speaker 5: I hope we go back to the equivalent of the
- 22:38Speaker 5: boomboxes outside of windows, which is what Taylor described Travis,
- 22:43Speaker 5: you know, basically doing to her and gushing over your
- 22:46Speaker 5: girlfriend or wife or boyfriend or husband love openly. Let
- 22:50Speaker 5: Taylor lead the way on that.
- 22:52Speaker 1: It's sweet. I want come to succeed. I'm excited for them.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Her caption was your English teacher is going to marry
- 22:59Speaker 1: your guns teacher. And like Travis, Kelsey really does have
- 23:03Speaker 1: a gym teacher vibe. That's it really does.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Yeah, And she really does have an English teacher vibe. Yeah.
- 23:08Speaker 1: I think that's partly why this has succeeded is that
- 23:13Speaker 1: it is a departure from her old form of boyfriend
- 23:16Speaker 1: who was an artist in her same field usually, which
- 23:20Speaker 1: means they're sort of not on purpose but naturally competing
- 23:24Speaker 1: with each other for spotlight in some situations. And the
- 23:27Speaker 1: thing I like about Kelsey and some of the more
- 23:30Speaker 1: red pilled right leaning commentators have been like, she needs
- 23:34Speaker 1: to submit to her husband, and that's what this looks like.
- 23:37Speaker 1: And the great thing about Kelsey is that he's so
- 23:41Speaker 1: clearly not threatened by her success. He's he's a modern
- 23:45Speaker 1: day gladiator. He he performs feats of manly courage and
- 23:49Speaker 1: public really super. Taylor can't do that. She does a
- 23:53Speaker 1: different thing, and they both celebrate each other for being
- 23:57Speaker 1: successful doing their own thing. And I like it, and
- 24:01Speaker 1: I hope they have a bunch of healthy extremely tall babies.
- 24:04Speaker 1: And then the weirdos not left say you're being a
- 24:08Speaker 1: weird natalist and I'm like, I just wish the couple. Well,
- 24:10Speaker 1: that's all I do.
- 24:11Speaker 2: That's it.
- 24:12Speaker 3: You know.
- 24:13Speaker 5: I believe we have a clip of your daughters talking
- 24:16Speaker 5: about this slightly.
- 24:17Speaker 1: This is one of my daughters has a slightly different take.
- 24:21Speaker 1: This is me breaking the news to them after school yesterday.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Taylor Swift is engaged to Travis Kelsey.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Why what?
- 24:31Speaker 5: How do you know that?
- 24:33Speaker 1: She posted it on Instagram. She's gonna get.
- 24:36Speaker 5: Married by Why.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Why that'd be adorable because it would be like the
- 24:45Speaker 1: most nipple baby ever. So she says, we laughed over
- 24:50Speaker 1: but she says, I hope they don't have a baby,
- 24:53Speaker 1: And I said why and she said, because it will
- 24:55Speaker 1: be the most neo baby ever, which.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Let them have the babies.
- 25:01Speaker 1: She's right, and also bring it on exactly. We're never
- 25:05Speaker 1: going to hear the end of this, by the way,
- 25:07Speaker 1: the wedding coverage.
- 25:08Speaker 5: The yeah everything, Oh yeah, we're totally in for it.
- 25:10Speaker 5: And then they're gonna have a baby after baby, hopefully hopefully,
- 25:13Speaker 5: and yeah, I think we're we're in for a decade
- 25:16Speaker 5: of Taylor and.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Trev and their life. But you know, again, if.
- 25:21Speaker 5: It makes people realize that love is good and marriage
- 25:24Speaker 5: is good and family is good, have at it.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Yeah. And I love, by the way, the Kelsey family
- 25:29Speaker 1: for being like so weird they're weirdly normal for as
- 25:33Speaker 1: famous as they have got.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Yes, absolutely I love their normal.
- 25:38Speaker 3: Well.
