- 0:44Speaker 1: that has blown up a little bit by our own
- 0:46Speaker 1: legendary degenerate slash writer slash editors slash Everyone's favorite better
- 0:51Speaker 1: uh Stucky, in which he posted seven props that he
- 0:55Speaker 1: wishes he could see on a board and that he
- 0:58Speaker 1: has asked the Twitter verse to take the other side
- 1:02Speaker 1: on He's already getting. He's already gotten a ton of action,
- 1:05Speaker 1: everything from like free throw shooting contests to you know,
- 1:08Speaker 1: when will the sixteen be to one again? To will
- 1:11Speaker 1: those the Patriots win the Super Bowl the next three years.
- 1:13Speaker 1: He's gonna come on on a little bit with Lauren Joffey.

- 1:34Speaker 1: you to do this week is post your favorite prop
- 1:36Speaker 1: that ever with a friend and the winner chosen by
- 1:40Speaker 1: a very subjective group of me and Mike Ronnell and
- 1:43Speaker 1: our other producer, Matt Mitchell. We will give you a
- 1:46Speaker 1: free subscription to the Action Network. So go on to
- 1:51Speaker 1: the Buffet iTunes page, post your favorite prop bet with
- 1:55Speaker 1: a friend, tell the story, we will choose the winner.
- 1:57Speaker 1: You'll get a free subscription. But first, but when we
- 2:00Speaker 1: get to you all of that, my guests worldwide, wob Twitter,
- 2:08Speaker 1: NBA Sensation Talent Extraordinaire, rab Perez from Cyclomedia. What's going on? Man? Hey?
- 2:17Speaker 1: So I have my own friend prop bet. I guess
- 2:22Speaker 1: I can share with you now that you just brought
- 2:24Speaker 1: it up. One of my best friends from home. Uh
- 2:28Speaker 1: is a die hard, the only die hard Brooklyn Nets fan,
- 2:31Speaker 1: all the way back to the Jersey Nets days. Like
- 2:33Speaker 1: we've gone to war Nick's versus Nets since as long
- 2:35Speaker 1: as we've known each other. And he was adamant. This
- 2:38Speaker 1: was the year that the Nets would come back and
- 2:40Speaker 1: they make the playoffs and they'd overachieve, and I go,
- 2:42Speaker 1: I will bet you that they don't win thirty games
- 2:45Speaker 1: this year. And this was before the over under came
- 2:47Speaker 1: out in Vegas, so I he's not he's not as
- 2:50Speaker 1: well educated in knowing what the number was gonna pay,
- 2:53Speaker 1: so I inflated it a little bit. But the number
- 2:56Speaker 1: was thirty, and the bet was this. The bet was
- 2:58Speaker 1: if the Nets win more than thirty games, so it
- 3:01Speaker 1: was really thirty would be a push. If they win
- 3:03Speaker 1: more than thirty games, meaning thirty one or more. I
- 3:06Speaker 1: will publicly admit on Buckets our show that I lost
- 3:12Speaker 1: this bet to you and I doubted the Nets. But
- 3:14Speaker 1: if they don't, I get to take your phone and
- 3:17Speaker 1: I get the text anyone that I want from your phone,
- 3:21Speaker 1: and he took it and they home. I think they
- 3:23Speaker 1: only got the win and I haven't. I haven't cashed
- 3:27Speaker 1: in my bet yet, but I'm kind of just It's
- 3:29Speaker 1: that scene from Family Guy where Stewie's like, or Brian's
- 3:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna get you back. You don't know when it's coming,
- 3:34Speaker 1: and Stewie is the entire episode is like tweaking out
- 3:37Speaker 1: because he's worried about it. So I've just been holding
- 3:40Speaker 1: it over his head that one in these days, I'm
- 3:41Speaker 1: gonna cash in this bet. And I know exactly who
- 3:44Speaker 1: I'm texting. Da. I was gonna say, you know exactly,
- 3:46Speaker 1: you know where the text is, and you know where
- 3:48Speaker 1: it's going, you know what's going to stay from day one. Yeah,
- 3:53Speaker 1: that I gotta say. That has become a thing that
- 3:56Speaker 1: you've got to be so careful. So I have a
- 3:58Speaker 1: similar prop bet, which I've talked about the podcast before,
- 4:00Speaker 1: but me and my best friend Matt, every year we
- 4:03Speaker 1: will do, you know, with the pick Um contest on
- 4:07Speaker 1: ESPN dot com, and we'll pick every year every NFL
- 4:09Speaker 1: game against the spread. And at the end of the year, uh,
- 4:13Speaker 1: the loser Um is sent second place trophies and you
- 4:18Speaker 1: can send his. I mean, ultimately the winner ends up
- 4:20Speaker 1: losing out because the winner ends up spending so much
- 4:22Speaker 1: money on trophies, but you don't care because it's all
- 4:25Speaker 1: about pride. And so I have sent him. I've won
- 4:27Speaker 1: the past four years and like in crushing embarrassing, like
- 4:32Speaker 1: I don't even know why he plays anymore fashion and
- 4:36Speaker 1: I will send these trophies that are just like worst
- 4:40Speaker 1: loss in a week and pick them history, biggest loss
- 4:44Speaker 1: in a season in pick him history, and I will
- 4:46Speaker 1: send four or five trophies. One year, I sent a
- 4:48Speaker 1: four foot trophy that needed to be put together that
- 4:51Speaker 1: I uh called his wife and made his kids put
- 4:55Speaker 1: together with him as like a weekend project. Um, it's
- 4:59Speaker 1: so hetty, but so like the meaner it can be
- 5:02Speaker 1: the better, right, So one year we were actually uh
- 5:06Speaker 1: he and I went to Oxford, Mississippi. We went to
- 5:09Speaker 1: spend the weekend with Right Thompson, who was a writer
- 5:12Speaker 1: for ESPN and a lot of people know who he is.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Writes really great stories. So we went down to spend
- 5:17Speaker 1: the weekend with him, and you go to visit Right,
- 5:19Speaker 1: and there's gonna be like food and moonshine involved. And
- 5:25Speaker 1: we ended up at some party and there was homemade
- 5:29Speaker 1: coconut moonshine that tasted better than anything you've ever had
- 5:35Speaker 1: in your entire life. Honest to god, this was so good.
- 5:38Speaker 1: And you know, me and my buddy, two Northerners, are
- 5:43Speaker 1: sitting there in the kitchen of this party, and like
- 5:45Speaker 1: before you know it, this moonshine is gone. And we
- 5:49Speaker 1: are spinning like you wouldn't believe the most of it is.
- 5:52Speaker 1: It is like it is ugly, right, Like we end
- 5:54Speaker 1: up at Right's house like God knows when, and I've
- 5:58Speaker 1: got one ft on the floor, one ft on the out,
- 6:00Speaker 1: just trying to keep myself steady. And uh, I keep
- 6:03Speaker 1: hearing my buddy giggling and he I look up finally
- 6:07Speaker 1: and he's at the kitchen counter and he's like in hysterics.
- 6:10Speaker 1: He's laughing so hard because he was going into Facebook,
- 6:14Speaker 1: and like he got my phone and was going into Facebook,
- 6:17Speaker 1: just writing random things on the pages of people that
- 6:20Speaker 1: hadn't seen since high school. Since high school, like, oh
- 6:23Speaker 1: my god, Bobby, you look amazing. It looks like you're
- 6:26Speaker 1: really working out. I love the pictures that you're showing
- 6:28Speaker 1: on the beach with your family. That's so great, Like
- 6:31Speaker 1: all these things of people that I haven't spoken to
- 6:33Speaker 1: and God knows how long. Uh, And so I am
- 6:36Speaker 1: I'm fearful for your friend. That's that's a good way
- 6:41Speaker 1: to end the story right there. Yeah, you know what
- 6:43Speaker 1: the purpose of the story is. I'm fearful, but yeah
- 6:46Speaker 1: he should be. Really, that's the vitey of these prop
- 6:51Speaker 1: that's like they are so much fun and it's what's
- 6:53Speaker 1: sort of it's the magic of what Stucky captured and
- 6:56Speaker 1: what he'll come on and talk about later on the
- 6:58Speaker 1: podcast is like, Um, the more inventive and creative you
- 7:02Speaker 1: can get, the more fun it is. And sometimes it's
- 7:05Speaker 1: not even the money that matters, right, It's like, that's
- 7:07Speaker 1: what I want people to write about when people submit
- 7:10Speaker 1: on the iTunes paid for the buffet, Like submit what
- 7:12Speaker 1: the stakes were, because the stakes are always better when
- 7:15Speaker 1: it's not money, because then it's something that's sort of
- 7:18Speaker 1: makes people laugh and there's a lot of humiliation involved,
- 7:20Speaker 1: and who doesn't Who doesn't like humiliation? I wonder if
- 7:24Speaker 1: you one day you could bet Vegas without money? Could
- 7:27Speaker 1: you bet room nights? Could you bet buffets? But like
- 7:30Speaker 1: what would the what would the transaction be from the customer?
- 7:33Speaker 1: Would it be money or would it be a service?
- 7:37Speaker 1: Like you maybe that's maybe it's like it's like you
- 7:41Speaker 1: can bet the big is like you know, it's it's
- 7:45Speaker 1: a ten percent vigue or um you're getting Like you
- 7:50Speaker 1: can you can bet money or you can bet to
- 7:52Speaker 1: get paid in a buffet that is worth like the
- 7:56Speaker 1: cost of your bet plus the payback, you know what
- 7:59Speaker 1: I mean, And go ahead. I was gonna say, I'd
- 8:04Speaker 1: be interested to see a bet that you become like
- 8:07Speaker 1: a casino act in the way that if your bet loses,
- 8:11Speaker 1: you have to spend one hour in this tank that
- 8:14Speaker 1: is just in the middle of Las Vegas Boulevard with
- 8:16Speaker 1: branding on it, and you spend sixty minutes in there
- 8:19Speaker 1: if you lose, and then you come back out after
- 8:21Speaker 1: you're done. But if you win, you get free tickets
- 8:23Speaker 1: to circuit. So late tonight you doubt you know, like
- 8:25Speaker 1: this is the box of shame? Are you willing to
- 8:27Speaker 1: rest the box of shame? Here's the thing, here's the thing.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Most people go in to Vegas would love to be
- 8:34Speaker 1: in that box on the strip exactly. That's why I
- 8:37Speaker 1: would get so many bets and be great for publicity.
- 8:40Speaker 1: That is said, until someone makes a big deal out
- 8:43Speaker 1: of it and says that, like what you're doing is
- 8:45Speaker 1: shameful and that's that's the age we live in. But
- 8:48Speaker 1: you would make them sign a waiver that says I
- 8:50Speaker 1: am willing to do this. I'm willing to be shamed. Also,
- 8:53Speaker 1: I feel like in Vegas, like the Twitter rules are
- 8:56Speaker 1: suspended sort of everything that is fearful outside of Vegas.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Um is one d okay in Vegas that I will
- 9:05Speaker 1: agree with that that if something happens in Vegas, it
- 9:08Speaker 1: is outside the realm of culture. You signed up for it.
- 9:12Speaker 1: You're in Vegas, You're on your own. I once went
- 9:16Speaker 1: to Vegas UM for my bachelor party and going out
- 9:22Speaker 1: that night, my friends like, we're all getting ready to
- 9:24Speaker 1: go to dinner and stuff, and my friends, as I'm
- 9:27Speaker 1: walking into the room on one of the rooms, they're like, hey,
- 9:31Speaker 1: you look great tonight. I'm like thanks, and they're like,
- 9:33Speaker 1: but that's not what you're wearing. And they break out
- 9:36Speaker 1: a full on, one piece polyester Elvis jumpsuit with an
- 9:41Speaker 1: Elvis wig and Elvis glasses and made me wear it
- 9:46Speaker 1: the entire night that I was in Vegas and greatest
- 9:52Speaker 1: night of my entire life. Did you get any tours
- 9:55Speaker 1: coming up there trying to take pictures with you? And
- 9:57Speaker 1: that's at one point, um, one of the dealers asked
- 10:01Speaker 1: me to get up and dance when I was at
- 10:02Speaker 1: a blackjack table, which I did. I did an Elvis impersonation. UM, Well,
- 10:07Speaker 1: if we were inclined to go to a strip club
- 10:10Speaker 1: for my bachelor party. I would tell you that, Um,
- 10:13Speaker 1: when we went outside to get a cab, we would
- 10:18Speaker 1: have gotten a free ride in a limo if we
- 10:20Speaker 1: were inclined to go to a strip club where if
- 10:23Speaker 1: there was a line, then we were given uh first
- 10:27Speaker 1: entry because we did not have to wait because I
- 10:29Speaker 1: was Elvis. I think you just spawned the idea here
- 10:34Speaker 1: of a new podcast that needs to happen, whether it's
- 10:36Speaker 1: with you or someone that maybe has an arsenal of
- 10:39Speaker 1: stories just called Vegas Tales, Tales from the Vegas crypt
- 10:42Speaker 1: or something that it's just every episode is a different story,
- 10:46Speaker 1: the same way that book Chicken Soup for the Soul
- 10:49Speaker 1: back in the nineties was out. It was like the
- 10:51Speaker 1: feel good story. We had a Chicken Soup for the
- 10:53Speaker 1: Vegas Soul, but not good stories, but like the funny,
- 10:57Speaker 1: the more self deprecating stories that ended up on a
- 11:01Speaker 1: Spike TV episode of Jail. We are one step ahead
- 11:04Speaker 1: of you, my friend, because we are doing that podcast
- 11:06Speaker 1: with black Jack Fletcher. He's, uh, we're developing as we speak.
- 11:11Speaker 1: You're like on top of it. You're like, don't think. Yeah, Um,
- 11:16Speaker 1: speaking of genius, you have uh you know, worldwide web
- 11:22Speaker 1: Rob Prez that is the guest in the podcast. Probably
- 11:25Speaker 1: UM one of the most influential NBA follows on Twitter,
- 11:29Speaker 1: and NBA Twitter is probably one of most influential things
- 11:32Speaker 1: in all of Twitter, and your rise to sort of
- 11:37Speaker 1: dominance as an NBA fan turned NBA connoisseur towarned n
- 11:42Speaker 1: B a talent professional has largely been marked by your
- 11:46Speaker 1: success on Twitter. I need you to break this down
- 11:49Speaker 1: for people, because I don't think people truly get like all,
- 11:51Speaker 1: you know, if they're following you, they see sort of
- 11:52Speaker 1: how active you are and sort of the sensibility that
- 11:54Speaker 1: you have explained to people how this happened, how Worldwide
- 11:58Speaker 1: Web developed, also explained to people like if they're not
- 12:01Speaker 1: in the know, um, what the worldwide WOB is sort
- 12:06Speaker 1: of in homage to UM, and give people the back
- 12:10Speaker 1: story on how this happened. Well, yeah, I get asked
- 12:12Speaker 1: a lot where I thought of the name Worldwide. West
- 12:16Speaker 1: was a power broker, influencer, agent, marketer type from the
- 12:21Speaker 1: early to mid two thousand's that was involved with Lebron
- 12:25Speaker 1: James and all the all the major stars at the time,
- 12:27Speaker 1: and I always just loved how he was this behind
- 12:30Speaker 1: the scenes kind of dude that was controlling the NBA.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Every every story that leaked, every business transaction that happened,
- 12:37Speaker 1: always went back to Worldwide West. As you know, fingerprints
- 12:41Speaker 1: were on top of it. So Worldwide West is the
- 12:44Speaker 1: worldwide part, and then the lab part is just my
- 12:47Speaker 1: fifth grade girlfriend from elementary school couldn't purnounce the letter
- 12:52Speaker 1: R correctly, so it always sounded like Wob. So people
- 12:55Speaker 1: called me Wob at the end of elementary school, through
- 12:57Speaker 1: middle school, high school, and so on and so on.
- 13:00Speaker 1: So it just became Worldwidwide was That's the reason why
- 13:03Speaker 1: that name exists in the first place. Uh. And as
- 13:06Speaker 1: for the actual personality itself, honestly, there was never a
- 13:11Speaker 1: what's the what's the Yodel kids name? Gordon Ramsey? I
- 13:14Speaker 1: think that the chef guy Mason Ramsey Mason Ramsey. So
- 13:19Speaker 1: I didn't have my Yodel Walmart moment where you know,
- 13:22Speaker 1: the ken bone debate moment where you just hockey stick overnight.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Maybe part I can attribute part of the success of
- 13:30Speaker 1: what we've built to this point, as it's been just
- 13:32Speaker 1: a slow drip from as far back as I can remember.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I've always just watched the NBA as a fan and
- 13:38Speaker 1: I've wanted to share watching it as a fan different
- 13:43Speaker 1: than how other fans currently watch it. So you have
- 13:45Speaker 1: fans that are very much into the XS and oh,
- 13:48Speaker 1: so you know what what's a flex cut, What's what's
- 13:50Speaker 1: an elevator screen? You know, there's there's there's a conversation
- 13:53Speaker 1: to be had there, and then there's you know, the
- 13:55Speaker 1: bar kind of conversation where you're just talking about who's
- 13:57Speaker 1: better mj or Lebron. I wanted to I kind of
- 14:00Speaker 1: the medium there, and while I'm still giving hot takes,
- 14:05Speaker 1: I do want to show the league through a lens
- 14:08Speaker 1: that was never seen before. So if that is unnecessary
- 14:12Speaker 1: drama or pettiness that happens on the court, things like
- 14:15Speaker 1: bench mobs, things like crossovers and dunks, I really wanted
- 14:20Speaker 1: to flash a spotlight on that. And when I was
- 14:22Speaker 1: getting started in app called Vine came around in two
- 14:26Speaker 1: thousand and twelve, I thing two thousand eleven, whenever the
- 14:29Speaker 1: hell that came out, and it gave me the ability
- 14:32Speaker 1: to show the world what it is. I was talking
- 14:34Speaker 1: about this entire time, and granted I didn't really have
- 14:37Speaker 1: them many followers. It was again very very slow coming in,
- 14:41Speaker 1: but I knew when I got the opportunity for one
- 14:44Speaker 1: thing to take off, I would have this massive portfolio
- 14:47Speaker 1: of stuff to show someone willing to give me a shot.
- 14:50Speaker 1: So when that moment did come, I had thousands and
- 14:53Speaker 1: hundreds of thousands of words ready to go to show
- 14:57Speaker 1: anyone giving willing to give me a chance on a
- 14:59Speaker 1: freelance type a contract. Vine really was the start of
- 15:04Speaker 1: being able to illustrate my opinions. And then Periscope came
- 15:07Speaker 1: out in twenty maybe and that permitted me to kind
- 15:12Speaker 1: of do a live interaction with the fan base. So
- 15:15Speaker 1: I've always just looked forward to what's the next thing
- 15:18Speaker 1: that hasn't Someone hasn't planted their flag, their flag on
- 15:22Speaker 1: the space yet. Zach Loow someone that will always dominate
- 15:26Speaker 1: the excess and those conversation. Well respected voice has established
- 15:30Speaker 1: himself over the better part of a decade. You know,
- 15:32Speaker 1: I want to plant my flag on the space of
- 15:35Speaker 1: watching the game as a fan, and I'm going to
- 15:37Speaker 1: continue to stick to that until it breaks. And so
- 15:42Speaker 1: tell me about your fandom, Like how did you you
- 15:45Speaker 1: mentioned your Knicks fan? I know you grew up outside
- 15:47Speaker 1: New York, Like, explain to people how you came to this,
- 15:51Speaker 1: how you came to this game, You're you're talking about
- 15:55Speaker 1: the where I'm at now with the show or just
- 15:58Speaker 1: how I'm such a case, such a big NDA fan.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Oh yeah, So, I mean my dad and mom met
- 16:06Speaker 1: at NBC Sports. They were in just sales, you know,
- 16:09Speaker 1: media sales, ad sales at the time, and that's when
- 16:12Speaker 1: NBC had every sport. They had like the World Series,
- 16:16Speaker 1: at every NBA game under the sun. Uh So we
- 16:19Speaker 1: ended up going to a bunch of games just because
- 16:21Speaker 1: tickets were available when I was a little kid. So
- 16:25Speaker 1: I grew up, just grew up outside New York, became
- 16:27Speaker 1: a huge Knicks fan. I even went to Market Square
- 16:30Speaker 1: Arena Game six Indianapolis, the game where Spike Lee showed
- 16:36Speaker 1: up to after getting the choke sign from Reggie Miller.
- 16:38Speaker 1: You know that, that whole deal. So just being a
- 16:40Speaker 1: part of that whole nineties basketball, I never missed a
- 16:44Speaker 1: game like I was. I was obsessed with it. And
- 16:46Speaker 1: then going to North Carolina Chapel Hill. They have good
- 16:50Speaker 1: somewhat decent basketball team there. Basketball has just always kind
- 16:53Speaker 1: of been in my blood. And then when the NBA
- 16:56Speaker 1: kind of transitioned out of the nineties and there was
- 16:58Speaker 1: that that lull the early two thousands where you know,
- 17:01Speaker 1: ratings weren't good and it wasn't really talked about as
- 17:04Speaker 1: a prominent sport that much anymore. Then social media came
- 17:07Speaker 1: around and just this culture developed when I was coming
- 17:11Speaker 1: out of college, if you all to the middle to
- 17:14Speaker 1: end of the two thousands, where it just became this
- 17:18Speaker 1: basketball professional basketball kind of became the sports religion, and
- 17:22Speaker 1: it's just sucked me in ever since. It really is
- 17:25Speaker 1: the kind of sport though, And we talked about this
- 17:27Speaker 1: a lot in sort of any form of media that
- 17:31Speaker 1: is so progressive and I don't mean any of this
- 17:34Speaker 1: in a political way, like it is. It is progressive
- 17:37Speaker 1: and inclusive in the way it embraces fandom and to
- 17:43Speaker 1: bring it back to what you were saying earlier, the
- 17:46Speaker 1: way it allows people to manipulate highlights and post them
- 17:50Speaker 1: in various social media and sort of enjoy being passionate
- 17:54Speaker 1: about the athleticism and the cookiness and sort of the
- 17:58Speaker 1: great plays me makes people feel more passionate about it
- 18:02Speaker 1: creates a virtuous cycle there, and they've been really good
- 18:04Speaker 1: about about emboldening people to do all that. Yeah, that's
- 18:11Speaker 1: that is what has taken the NBA fast forward to
- 18:14Speaker 1: you know, current time, just the ability to engage with
- 18:18Speaker 1: the league on and off the court. So what does
- 18:21Speaker 1: the NBA have advantage of over other sports when it
- 18:25Speaker 1: comes to marketing NBA players, they don't wear helmets and
- 18:28Speaker 1: they don't wear masks. Hockey, baseball, football, they all wear
- 18:32Speaker 1: helmets and mass it's hard to see their face when
- 18:36Speaker 1: you're watching, you know, the broadcast, and just being able
- 18:39Speaker 1: to experience those emotions and seeing the way lebron K
- 18:43Speaker 1: d and all these stars react in real time. H
- 18:47Speaker 1: is an experience that is not only something amazing live,
- 18:51Speaker 1: but it's the reason why ratings continue to go up.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Is there's some sort of human element to it. And
- 18:56Speaker 1: that's just one checkbox, you know. The second is they
- 19:00Speaker 1: allow there. I shouldn't say they allow, but they're very
- 19:05Speaker 1: open to sharing content on social media, whether you know,
- 19:09Speaker 1: you pay for the licensing rights or not. And I'm
- 19:11Speaker 1: referring to bootleg type of highlights and mash up videos
- 19:14Speaker 1: and stuff like that. They see there's no right or
- 19:18Speaker 1: wrong when it comes to this business mentality. But the
- 19:21Speaker 1: NBA is on the end of the spectrum that is, okay,
- 19:24Speaker 1: you're bootlegging, are our games and our product, but you're
- 19:29Speaker 1: sharing it and that gets other people to watch the program.
- 19:33Speaker 1: The other end of the spectrum is we own this content.
- 19:38Speaker 1: We want to monetize every single eyeball on it. But
- 19:41Speaker 1: what happens is you shut down accounts that are trying
- 19:45Speaker 1: to share the content because it doesn't come from the
- 19:47Speaker 1: main source, and therefore you don't have so many people
- 19:50Speaker 1: talking about it. Again, there's no right or wrong way
- 19:53Speaker 1: to do the business. But if you want it to
- 19:55Speaker 1: become talked about and everything, just go completely viral as
- 20:00Speaker 1: to the Instagram like that Kyrie has late at night
- 20:04Speaker 1: can go viral because the NBA has built this culture
- 20:07Speaker 1: of share, share, share um and I really think that
- 20:12Speaker 1: the product is great. You can argue whether you like
- 20:14Speaker 1: the NBA game itself, you know, there's plenty of opinions
- 20:17Speaker 1: on that, but what's really tough to argue against is
- 20:20Speaker 1: how they've integrated uh social media culture not only into
- 20:26Speaker 1: the game, but into fans real life as well. So
- 20:31Speaker 1: social media has become such a huge part of the
- 20:33Speaker 1: way people are reacting to these games, like in real time.
- 20:38Speaker 1: You know, there were all those tweets and all those
- 20:40Speaker 1: reactions from NBA players to Lebron when he made that
- 20:43Speaker 1: game winning shot, that he banked that game winning shot
- 20:45Speaker 1: the other night, and then more to what happened we're
- 20:48Speaker 1: recording this on Tuesday afternoon, more to what happened last
- 20:52Speaker 1: night when they swept the Raptors. When you look at
- 20:55Speaker 1: that series, how much did what Lebron did in that
- 20:58Speaker 1: series surprise you? At how much did what the Raptors
- 21:03Speaker 1: didn't do surprise you? Yeah, It's really the most impressive
- 21:09Speaker 1: thing about Lebron James is that we continue to not
- 21:12Speaker 1: be surprised by what he does. This is a man
- 21:14Speaker 1: in his fifteen season that is headed towards his god
- 21:18Speaker 1: knows how many Eastern Conference finals in a row. Uh.
- 21:22Speaker 1: And the most impressive box score statistic that he has
- 21:26Speaker 1: isn't even a box score stat it's his durability that
- 21:29Speaker 1: he's played all eighty two games that he continues in
- 21:32Speaker 1: year fifteen to put up these forty eight minute games
- 21:36Speaker 1: while playing eighty two games plus an entire postseason, and
- 21:39Speaker 1: then every four years he usually goes and placing the
- 21:41Speaker 1: Olympics for the entire summer too. So just am I
- 21:45Speaker 1: am I shocked? I shouldn't be, but this Cavs team
- 21:49Speaker 1: really stinks. They're really not good. And this is as
- 21:53Speaker 1: good of a Raptors team as we've ever seen. We've
- 21:56Speaker 1: it's been is starting to feel a little Stockholm syndrome
- 21:59Speaker 1: when it comes to the Raptors, because this was the
- 22:01Speaker 1: year right they had every piece they needed, Derozen and lowering.
- 22:05Speaker 1: These guys are starting on the All Star team. Uh,
- 22:08Speaker 1: if not this year, but at some point they have
- 22:11Speaker 1: reached the peak of their powers. And to watch them
- 22:13Speaker 1: just kids waxed by a team that has no business,
- 22:17Speaker 1: That Cleveland Cavaliers team wins fifteen games without Lebron James
- 22:21Speaker 1: throughout the entire regular season, just to watch him continue
- 22:25Speaker 1: to drag them through the depths of hell. I don't
- 22:30Speaker 1: want to say it's shocking because we've seen it so
- 22:32Speaker 1: many times. It's just more shocking that he can do
- 22:35Speaker 1: it in year fifteen. And yeah, I'm disappointed in the Raptors,
- 22:40Speaker 1: even though I shouldn't be because we've been down this
- 22:43Speaker 1: road before. But my God, like, at this point, how
- 22:46Speaker 1: do you ever exercise those demons? Let me challenge you
- 22:49Speaker 1: a little bit. Let me challenge you a little bit.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Because Matt Moore had a great story on Action Network
- 22:54Speaker 1: today Action Network dot Com that basically said I was
- 22:58Speaker 1: wrong about the Raptors because he had been on the
- 23:00Speaker 1: Raptors all year a little bit like you were just
- 23:02Speaker 1: saying and saying, this is a different Raptors team. And
- 23:05Speaker 1: then he went through a litany of things that described
- 23:08Speaker 1: why the Calves sort of won. And one note he
- 23:12Speaker 1: had in there is that this Calvs team isn't as
- 23:15Speaker 1: bad as people think, and that defensively they obviously played great. Um, offensively,
- 23:21Speaker 1: they were off the charge, like what are you gonna
- 23:23Speaker 1: do if you know, you know, j R. Smith is
- 23:26Speaker 1: shooting god knows what he was shooting from behind the
- 23:27Speaker 1: ark and everybody else was doing that. But um, that defensively,
- 23:31Speaker 1: this actually has been a pretty good team in the playoffs.
- 23:34Speaker 1: So I don't know that I think they're as bad
- 23:37Speaker 1: as we thought they were. Maybe they're just getting better
- 23:39Speaker 1: right now, maybe sort of the trades and sort of
- 23:42Speaker 1: everyone is becoming a little bit better and supporting Lebron
- 23:45Speaker 1: in a more consistent way. Yeah, so the biggest before
- 23:49Speaker 1: the trades happened, the biggest issue was that these guys
- 23:53Speaker 1: Isaiah Thomas, Jay Crowder. Uh god, I even got all
- 23:56Speaker 1: the other guys that and at some some point Kyrie
- 23:59Speaker 1: Irving too. If you play with Lebron James, you better
- 24:02Speaker 1: fall into line. He is the alpha of all alpha's.
- 24:06Speaker 1: It's his team, and he's always kind of lived and
- 24:09Speaker 1: played by this uh father figure, big brother type of
- 24:14Speaker 1: culture every single team that he's gone to. And the
- 24:17Speaker 1: one year that he didn't, he let Wade you know,
- 24:19Speaker 1: run the show was in Miami and they ended up
- 24:21Speaker 1: losing to Dallas Mavericks in that first first summer, and
- 24:24Speaker 1: then Lebron decided, you know what, I'm Lebron, I'm I'm
- 24:26Speaker 1: retaking over. But in regards to his defen and like
- 24:29Speaker 1: the team's defense, the same way that there's there's a
- 24:32Speaker 1: tweet for everything, there's also a stat for everything. I'm
- 24:35Speaker 1: sure I can find a stat that says they're the
- 24:37Speaker 1: best team in the league, and there's a stat that
- 24:38Speaker 1: says they're the worst team in the league. But I
- 24:40Speaker 1: know what I'm seeing, and what I'm seeing is Lebron
- 24:43Speaker 1: at the peak of his powers, is not only the
- 24:46Speaker 1: best player in the world offensively, whatever you want to say,
- 24:50Speaker 1: he's the best player in the world because he makes
- 24:52Speaker 1: his teammates better, and not just better, but he's got
- 24:55Speaker 1: all of these guys maxing out their potential. So if
- 24:59Speaker 1: Kevin Love's role on this team is to not be
- 25:02Speaker 1: that low post Minnesota Nimberwolves thirty and fifteen type guy,
- 25:06Speaker 1: but to run baseline to baseline and hit threes. JR. Smith,
- 25:11Speaker 1: same thing, Kyle Korver, same thing. We're gonna put four
- 25:14Speaker 1: out one end when Tristan Thompson's in the game, and
- 25:17Speaker 1: we're just gonna let Lebron create for everyone else. Um,
- 25:21Speaker 1: it works because when you have Lebron, you support him
- 25:23Speaker 1: with shooters and that's the way the game is played.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I will continue to say that their defense stinks and
- 25:29Speaker 1: just talent wise, when Lebron is not on the floor,
- 25:32Speaker 1: this team stinks. I don't know how else to put.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Don't have any stats in front of me to support
- 25:37Speaker 1: my cause, but I know what I'm watching and they
- 25:40Speaker 1: have zero, zero rim protection of any kind. The only
- 25:44Speaker 1: way you're gonna beat Lebron is to be That's why
- 25:48Speaker 1: Jonas Alan Tunas was such a disappointment, because whenever you
- 25:51Speaker 1: got the ball in the block, it's like, dude, just
- 25:52Speaker 1: turn around and lay it in. It shouldn't be that difficult.
- 25:55Speaker 1: You got Kevin Love on you, who's four or five
- 25:57Speaker 1: inches smaller. The only big guy they got on their
- 25:59Speaker 1: team that's even worth the damn Tristan Thompson. He is
- 26:02Speaker 1: not known for his defense. He's known for his rebounding.
- 26:04Speaker 1: So you want to you're begging these teams to take
- 26:07Speaker 1: advantage of the Calv's biggest weakness. And maybe it is
- 26:09Speaker 1: a testament to their defense that no one's been able
- 26:12Speaker 1: to expose it yet. But if you run into the
- 26:14Speaker 1: Sixers somehow, if they pull off this three oh comeback,
- 26:17Speaker 1: or if if Boston gets the ball to Horford down low,
- 26:21Speaker 1: you got anyone that can stop these guys? The answer
- 26:23Speaker 1: is no, And that's what Golden State will do in
- 26:25Speaker 1: the finals when they sweep them. All right, said, well,
- 26:27Speaker 1: you've you've jumped ahead to my questions. So, um, you
- 26:31Speaker 1: know your way around a betting parlor, you know your
- 26:33Speaker 1: way around a sports book. Handicap. Let's let's let's assume
- 26:39Speaker 1: the Celtics are gonna finish off the Sixers, So handicap
- 26:43Speaker 1: for me, and I'm not ready to say that yet
- 26:46Speaker 1: before you keep going, all right, then handicapped for me.
- 26:51Speaker 1: How this series plays out between the Celtics and the Sixers.
- 26:54Speaker 1: You know, bear in mind we're recording this on Tuesday.
- 26:57Speaker 1: It'll post sometime Wednesday. I think that's from the next
- 27:00Speaker 1: game is um, tell me how this series plays out,
- 27:03Speaker 1: and then tell me what you think the series odds
- 27:06Speaker 1: should be for Calf Celtics or Calf Sixers. So down
- 27:12Speaker 1: three oh the seventies Sixers were by from what I saw,
- 27:17Speaker 1: they were plus six eighties plus seven hundred or something
- 27:21Speaker 1: to win the series. Down oh three, never done before.
- 27:25Speaker 1: And you've got the Lawyers minus fifty tho, you got
- 27:28Speaker 1: the Rockets minus You've got the Sixers like they're still
- 27:32Speaker 1: in it. There's a reason why there's tall towers in
- 27:35Speaker 1: Las Vegas, right, And it's not because they give away
- 27:38Speaker 1: lines make them too easy to bet. You'd figured bet
- 27:41Speaker 1: the Celtics minus nine hundred or whatever it is. Uh,
- 27:44Speaker 1: it's it's a stone cold luck. They're not the better team,
- 27:47Speaker 1: they're the better coach team. The Sixers are better in
- 27:50Speaker 1: every facet of the game. And I'm not ready to
- 27:52Speaker 1: say that this series is over because if the Sixers
- 27:54Speaker 1: win Game five, they're gonna win that series. It all
- 27:57Speaker 1: comes down to Game five from me. So if I'm
- 27:59Speaker 1: gonna cap a potential Sixers Calves or Celtics Calves Eastern
- 28:05Speaker 1: Conference Finals. I still think I'm gonna go on record
- 28:08Speaker 1: and say I still think the Sixers are gonna win
- 28:09Speaker 1: this series and be the first team we're gonna see
- 28:12Speaker 1: a sixteen seed be two one, and we're gonna see
- 28:13Speaker 1: an NBA team come back from O. Three. So the
- 28:16Speaker 1: Sixers do end up winning this series. They have the
- 28:19Speaker 1: Cleveland Cavaliers kryptonite, which is the most dominant big man
- 28:22Speaker 1: in the league. They've got an up and coming Shaquille
- 28:24Speaker 1: O'Neal with a three point jump shot, and every single
- 28:27Speaker 1: time they played this year, the Calves didn't have a
- 28:29Speaker 1: shot in hell of guarding this guy. He will feast
- 28:32Speaker 1: upon their flesh like we're watching some some Lord of
- 28:35Speaker 1: the Rings scene. Uh, if I have to put a
- 28:38Speaker 1: number on it, you're not You're not not making Lebron
- 28:42Speaker 1: James the favorite unless it's the Golden State Warriors. So
- 28:45Speaker 1: I'm you're gonna throw out Calves. They're gonna be on
- 28:50Speaker 1: the road Calves minus one thirty seventy Sixers plus one ten.
- 28:55Speaker 1: But uh, you have to imagine there's gonna be a
- 28:58Speaker 1: lot of sharp money on the seventy sixers there. Now,
- 29:00Speaker 1: if they don't pull it off, you're gonna have the Celtics,
- 29:02Speaker 1: who are the overachievers, the better coach team, and they're
- 29:05Speaker 1: gonna certainly be the better coach team against UH Cleveland
- 29:09Speaker 1: as well. So Boston's got home court. Yeah, the Calves
- 29:15Speaker 1: I think win that series to make the finals, and
- 29:18Speaker 1: I think the seventy six is beat the Calves. But
- 29:20Speaker 1: the Calves beat the Celtics. So if I'm putting a
- 29:23Speaker 1: number on it could run it. If I'm putting a
- 29:26Speaker 1: number on Celtics Calves, I wish I came prepared for this,
- 29:30Speaker 1: because I'm not a bookmaker. But what else I didn't know?
- 29:36Speaker 1: I had the book action on hypothetical Eastern Conference Finals. Here,
- 29:40Speaker 1: I'm making the Calves minus that's very similar. I'm making
- 29:42Speaker 1: them a minus one forty minus one fifty just because
- 29:45Speaker 1: they don't have home court, and you have to make
- 29:47Speaker 1: sure that first game is pretty similar to the series price.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Otherwise everyone's just gonna load up on the first game.
- 29:53Speaker 1: So I'm thinking minus one forty minus one fifty probably
- 29:56Speaker 1: on the Calves. If they were home, you're looking at
- 29:59Speaker 1: minus three already, minus three fifty. But you know, not
- 30:02Speaker 1: home court. So it does get really interesting. You're not
- 30:05Speaker 1: wrong about the Sixers. They are a one point favorite
- 30:08Speaker 1: tomorrow night in Boston. And look they they felt like
- 30:12Speaker 1: very they felt like a very different team last night.
- 30:15Speaker 1: I was on the Sixers last night. I was on
- 30:17Speaker 1: him at six and a half in our side action
- 30:20Speaker 1: slap channel here at Action Network. UM. I had a
- 30:23Speaker 1: bet against p J Walsh, who thought he was baiting
- 30:26Speaker 1: me into taking that bet, but I was all over
- 30:28Speaker 1: it and I would take the Sixers again as one
- 30:31Speaker 1: point favorites on the road in Boston. But here's where
- 30:35Speaker 1: it gets interesting. After Game three, all of the conversation
- 30:40Speaker 1: was Brad Stevens is a genius, best coach in the NBA,
- 30:44Speaker 1: best you know, tactician in the NBA. If the Celtics
- 30:49Speaker 1: lose this series, is that narrative change? Is he no
- 30:53Speaker 1: longer a genius? Like to how do people get out
- 30:55Speaker 1: of the whole of having said that he is the
- 30:57Speaker 1: greatest coach in the history of the NBA. Yeah, I
- 31:01Speaker 1: think that's true that the narrative does change, and it
- 31:03Speaker 1: would deserve to change if you're the coach responsible for
- 31:05Speaker 1: blowing in OH three lead three oh lead you can't
- 31:09Speaker 1: be known as the best coach in the league, and
- 31:11Speaker 1: he doesn't have any rings either. But we see the
- 31:14Speaker 1: brilliance in some of these breakdowns that have come out
- 31:16Speaker 1: on whether it's like The Ringer or sp Nation, they
- 31:18Speaker 1: break down these final A t O s that Brad
- 31:21Speaker 1: Stevens like six or seven times he draws up these
- 31:25Speaker 1: just ludicrous plays that not only get his guys open,
- 31:28Speaker 1: but he does them on defense too. He's always one
- 31:30Speaker 1: step ahead. So the basketball brilliance is there. But it's
- 31:33Speaker 1: absolutely essential that they close this series out. If we're
- 31:37Speaker 1: going to continue saying that he's the best coach in
- 31:41Speaker 1: the league, he can't lose a three oh lead. End
- 31:44Speaker 1: of story. But yeah, the Sixers are a better, better
- 31:47Speaker 1: basketball team that's just getting out coached, uh, and that
- 31:51Speaker 1: could be responsible for losing a series. So we'll find
- 31:54Speaker 1: out in Game five exactly what Brett Brown and what
- 31:58Speaker 1: the seventy Sixers are may of because they should be
- 32:01Speaker 1: dominating and there's a reason why they're favorite. What I
- 32:04Speaker 1: don't like is the narrative that Brett Brown isn't a
- 32:06Speaker 1: good coach, because this is a guy who has saying that, Well,
- 32:10Speaker 1: I feel like people are saying that like when you
- 32:12Speaker 1: when you when you frame it as Brad Stevens is
- 32:17Speaker 1: out coaching this guy and doing this much of a
- 32:19Speaker 1: better job, it's almost like it feels like you're putting
- 32:22Speaker 1: a Dunce camp on the other guy. And I feel
- 32:25Speaker 1: like he's a really good coach who has done a
- 32:27Speaker 1: phenomenal job basically coaching a team from you know a metaphor,
- 32:32Speaker 1: from high school to the NBA, right Like he is
- 32:35Speaker 1: built that team, built that culture, and done a great
- 32:38Speaker 1: job of sort of trying to find ways to keep
- 32:40Speaker 1: everyone together and build something that they can be proud of.
- 32:44Speaker 1: And it feels a little sad to me that he's
- 32:47Speaker 1: being compared to Brad Stevens because of these sort of
- 32:50Speaker 1: out of bounds plays that then an aftertime out plays,
- 32:53Speaker 1: and and being and and suffering by comparison in a
- 32:59Speaker 1: in an uneven Yeah. So if if that's the case,
- 33:03Speaker 1: then Brad's then everyone else is a bad coach too.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Because Brad Stevens has been out coaching everyone not named
- 33:10Speaker 1: Steve Kerr or Bruten Holzer, you know, multiple times throughout
- 33:15Speaker 1: the regular season every single year since he's been the
- 33:18Speaker 1: Celtics head coach. What It's not that Brett Brett Brown
- 33:22Speaker 1: is a bad coach. He's just getting out coached for
- 33:25Speaker 1: the first three games. But he won game four, so
- 33:27Speaker 1: you can say he out coach Brad Stevenson game four.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Now the narrative has changed. What makes Brad Stevens great
- 33:33Speaker 1: is watching this team of overachievers that they're missing half
- 33:36Speaker 1: their their squad, like all they're all stars, are injured.
- 33:39Speaker 1: And what's impressive is that it's not that he's just
- 33:42Speaker 1: winning games, is that he's got a system in place
- 33:45Speaker 1: and he can take anyone off that bench. He could
- 33:48Speaker 1: put Yaboo Selly in Nader and all these guys all
- 33:51Speaker 1: the way at the end with Greg Monroe and probably
- 33:54Speaker 1: go out there and close out this series. And that's
- 33:56Speaker 1: a testament not only to the culture that he's created
- 33:58Speaker 1: amongst his players, but something's working. And when he continues
- 34:03Speaker 1: to succeed in these clutch uh situations and eight again,
- 34:07Speaker 1: I'm gonna keep alluding to a T O S because
- 34:09Speaker 1: of just how special he is at drawing those things up.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Where there's smoke, there's usually fire in this league, and
- 34:16Speaker 1: his fire has been burning since the moment he's come in.
- 34:18Speaker 1: It's the most impressive thing for a coach, in my opinion,
- 34:22Speaker 1: isn't so much the rings as it is your ability
- 34:24Speaker 1: to create a system like Greg Popovich is done in
- 34:27Speaker 1: San Antonio, where it don't matter who we draft or
- 34:30Speaker 1: who we sign, they're gonna come in here and play
- 34:33Speaker 1: our style of basketball because it works. And there's really
- 34:37Speaker 1: only two total coaches in teams that you can say
- 34:40Speaker 1: that about the Spurs in the Celtics. Alright, So look
- 34:43Speaker 1: at the Western Conference for a second. Let's say it's
- 34:46Speaker 1: you've already said, you just said the Warriors are gonna
- 34:48Speaker 1: get to the finals, are going to suit the Calves.
- 34:50Speaker 1: So to me, that means you think they're getting by
- 34:52Speaker 1: the Rockets pretty easily. Yes, And the reason for that
- 34:56Speaker 1: is I live I live by the mantra you can't
- 35:01Speaker 1: out Warriors the Warriors. If you're gonna come into the
- 35:03Speaker 1: building and try and outshoot them, you're gonna try and
- 35:05Speaker 1: outrun them, You're gonna try and outpace them. That's what
- 35:08Speaker 1: D'Antoni has been trying to do for two decades. You
- 35:11Speaker 1: can't out Warriors the Warriors. There's no way to do it.
- 35:14Speaker 1: They're simply too good. They're the best team up until
- 35:18Speaker 1: this point of all time. On paper, they need to
- 35:20Speaker 1: close it out. They need to win another championship before
- 35:23Speaker 1: you have that conversation. But this is a flawless basketball
- 35:28Speaker 1: team when Steph Curry's on the floor and he's healthy,
- 35:30Speaker 1: and the fact that the Rockets are going to go
- 35:32Speaker 1: out there again and just kind of try and shoot
- 35:34Speaker 1: their way into the NBA Finals is not gonna work.
- 35:38Speaker 1: If this was a sudden death one game, you could
- 35:41Speaker 1: believe it in a heartbeat, because the Rockets can catch fire.
- 35:43Speaker 1: But there are so many possessions in an NBA game
- 35:46Speaker 1: now north of a hundred when it comes to pace,
- 35:49Speaker 1: and you gotta beat them four at a seven times
- 35:52Speaker 1: four at a seven. And they ain't got no home
- 35:54Speaker 1: court advantage in Houston. That's that's that is one of
- 35:57Speaker 1: the quieter crowds left in I know Houston will come
- 36:00Speaker 1: after me for that, but you know what, that's It's true,
- 36:03Speaker 1: like I don't feel a home court advantage. That's a Utah,
- 36:07Speaker 1: like a Philly, like a Boston. It's not daunting to
- 36:09Speaker 1: go into Houston. That's the one advantage you got over
- 36:12Speaker 1: Golden State. It's not there for me. It's just not
- 36:15Speaker 1: And unless they decide to change their system real quick. Um,
- 36:19Speaker 1: I see Golden State closing that out in four, or
- 36:22Speaker 1: maybe a gentleman sweep. Really, yeah, they've they've been polite.
- 36:28Speaker 1: They gentlemen sweeped San Antonio to make sure man who
- 36:31Speaker 1: got his nice little goodbye they did. They're gonna do
- 36:33Speaker 1: a nice little gentleman's sweep with New Orleans, and they'll
- 36:36Speaker 1: do a nice little gentleman's sweep with the Houston Rockets
- 36:39Speaker 1: before they go back to the finals. But too good.
- 36:42Speaker 1: I understand what you mean by gentleman sweep, but essentially
- 36:45Speaker 1: what you're saying is they're gonna let him have that
- 36:47Speaker 1: one game sort of feel good, get the home crowd energized,
- 36:50Speaker 1: do something nice like they're not doing it on purpose,
- 36:52Speaker 1: But there's gonna be that game where they just don't
- 36:54Speaker 1: go as hard. Yeah, they did not show up to
- 36:57Speaker 1: that Game four in San Antonio. They were halfway on
- 36:59Speaker 1: the lane by halftime. They got beat in Game three
- 37:03Speaker 1: by like a drum. But sometimes they just don't show up.
- 37:06Speaker 1: And I had I think I did a tweet earlier
- 37:08Speaker 1: this year that I was watching every Warriors game, in
- 37:11Speaker 1: every dribble that they play, mainly because Swaggy P and
- 37:13Speaker 1: Javelle McGee are on the squad and I don't want
- 37:15Speaker 1: to miss anything. But they don't even show up to
- 37:17Speaker 1: games anymore. It's like they show up to quarters because
- 37:20Speaker 1: they know we don't have to show up to games.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Were too good. Granted it's the playoffs now and they
- 37:24Speaker 1: certainly are showing up to full games, but as soon
- 37:27Speaker 1: as they snap their fingers and turn it on, there's
- 37:29Speaker 1: not a team, a concoction of players that from all
- 37:33Speaker 1: other teams in the Western Conference that can beat these guys.
- 37:36Speaker 1: It's a system that Steve kers got I was talking
- 37:38Speaker 1: about Popovich and Brad Stevens before. He's built a system
- 37:42Speaker 1: that these that these perennial All stars can thrive in,
- 37:46Speaker 1: and that's what makes them a super team. The only
- 37:49Speaker 1: super team is it's not just a collection of talented individuals.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Look what happened to Okay, see you put you just
- 37:55Speaker 1: play NBA two K and you make all these great
- 37:58Speaker 1: trades and you put all the stars together. You got
- 38:00Speaker 1: there and you dominate. But it doesn't happen in real life.
- 38:02Speaker 1: When there's not a system in place to maximize their talents,
- 38:06Speaker 1: you just can't beat them at their own game, and
- 38:09Speaker 1: I feel like I get the opportunity to buy Warrior
- 38:12Speaker 1: stock this year because for three months everyone was Steph
- 38:15Speaker 1: Curry's hurt to Rand's hurt. They don't care. They're gonna
- 38:17Speaker 1: They're gonna run into more motivated teams. I'm like, I'll
- 38:20Speaker 1: take your stock, bye bye, bye bye. They even put
- 38:22Speaker 1: a plus sign in front of the Golden State Wars
- 38:24Speaker 1: to win the title at one point, by you know,
- 38:27Speaker 1: what are you guys doing. It's the same Warriors team.
- 38:29Speaker 1: They ain't losing. You can you can record this all
- 38:32Speaker 1: you want. They're not losing. Yeah, I mean that's what
- 38:34Speaker 1: I was gonna say. I think at one point this
- 38:35Speaker 1: year they were like plus three fifty to win the
- 38:38Speaker 1: NBA title. Get out of here. It's it's insane unless
- 38:43Speaker 1: you think they're not. Their stars were gonna be injured
- 38:45Speaker 1: throughout the playoffs. But if your reasoning was they don't
- 38:47Speaker 1: have it, then you haven't watched enough games this year
- 38:50Speaker 1: to see that they just didn't care. After that seventy
- 38:53Speaker 1: three win campaign, we saw the following season like, we
- 38:57Speaker 1: don't want to do that again, because that was eight
- 38:59Speaker 1: months playing every game like Game seven, and it just
- 39:03Speaker 1: didn't look like they found it to be worth it anymore.
- 39:05Speaker 1: We're not going to match that intensity every single night,
- 39:08Speaker 1: so we'll show up when we need to, and then
- 39:10Speaker 1: in the playoffs, we're gonna wax your ass. I guess
- 39:12Speaker 1: what's amazing is that they can do that, that they
- 39:14Speaker 1: can turn it on sort of at a whim. And
- 39:17Speaker 1: that's always been the challenge for a lot of teams
- 39:19Speaker 1: is that they can't. And that's why as a better
- 39:22Speaker 1: it's been hard to buy into them sort of late
- 39:25Speaker 1: until late in the season because you didn't know what
- 39:27Speaker 1: you were going to get. Is why I think the
- 39:28Speaker 1: price as along with the injuries, I think just people
- 39:31Speaker 1: were thinking they're not as motivated as they used to be,
- 39:33Speaker 1: and it's hard to turn that switch. It's hard to
- 39:35Speaker 1: invest in that. Oh it's and it's thoroughly maddening to
- 39:39Speaker 1: bet on the Warriors at any point, whether it's the
- 39:41Speaker 1: playoffs or the regular season, because they're laying such massive
- 39:44Speaker 1: numbers no matter where they go. And then they go
- 39:47Speaker 1: up by twenty and they send in McCaw and they
- 39:50Speaker 1: send in Quinn, Cook Looney and these guys that are like,
- 39:54Speaker 1: oh God, here we go. And then before you know it,
- 39:56Speaker 1: twenties down to ten just because they don't care. So
- 40:00Speaker 1: every game that you've been on the Warriors feels like
- 40:02Speaker 1: it comes down to whether Quinn Cook makes that garbage
- 40:05Speaker 1: three with twenty eight seconds left. Uh. And that's just
- 40:08Speaker 1: because their bench, you know, just they come in and
- 40:11Speaker 1: it's been the same thing for three three years now.
- 40:14Speaker 1: When you're laying that type of number, it's really hard
- 40:17Speaker 1: unless you're up by thirty to protect laying that many points. Alright,
- 40:22Speaker 1: worldwide Web, you have made a declaration that the Warriors
- 40:25Speaker 1: are going to sweep the Calves in the finals. Although
- 40:29Speaker 1: you have said that, you also had a declaration that
- 40:33Speaker 1: the Celtics sixers contest is not over yet, which I'm
- 40:36Speaker 1: excited to see, you know, in the future world how
- 40:38Speaker 1: that plays out. Um, tell us all the places we
- 40:42Speaker 1: can find everything you're doing. Sure. Our our program at
- 40:48Speaker 1: cycle here is called Buckets. Unfortunately we're on a hiatus
- 40:52Speaker 1: at the moment, so we don't have a set return
- 40:55Speaker 1: date as to when the program is going to be
- 40:57Speaker 1: back live, but you can find us on both ESPN
- 41:00Speaker 1: and at b y Cycle on Twitter. Cycles the name
- 41:04Speaker 1: of the content creation company here that works under laundry
- 41:11Speaker 1: Service The ad agency and we produced content. Uh we uh,
- 41:15Speaker 1: we work with brands. We we do shows like Buckets, um,
- 41:19Speaker 1: all that good stuff. So uh, definitely check us out
- 41:22Speaker 1: if you haven't already. UM, we live on the internet.
- 41:25Speaker 1: So if you're looking for what we like to say
- 41:28Speaker 1: on Buckets is it's not just a basketball culture, it's
- 41:30Speaker 1: a it's a lifestyle. So if you're looking for that
- 41:32Speaker 1: type of experience, certainly Buckets and Cycles for you. I
- 41:36Speaker 1: will tell you it's a great show. I hope it
- 41:38Speaker 1: comes back soon. We produced a Super Bowl pregame betting
- 41:43Speaker 1: show and the Super Bowl halftime show and a super
- 41:45Speaker 1: Bowl postgame show, and um, it was the first thing
- 41:48Speaker 1: that we tried at the Action Network. We did it
- 41:50Speaker 1: in February, obviously we only launched in January. And UM
- 41:54Speaker 1: I sent episodes of Buckets to the guy who was
- 41:59Speaker 1: producing it, saying, our show needs to look and feel
- 42:02Speaker 1: like this really really good. So, uh, when you guys
- 42:05Speaker 1: are doing it cycle generally it's really interesting. Um. Thanks
- 42:09Speaker 1: for coming on the podcast. Man, it was great to
- 42:10Speaker 1: have your great basketball conversation. I'm looking forward to seeing,
- 42:14Speaker 1: uh what you text and to whom when you get
- 42:17Speaker 1: back your buddy who foolishly bet that that's when more
- 42:21Speaker 1: than thirty games. So, uh, please keep us posted and
- 42:24Speaker 1: you come back and tell that Vegas story. Yeah, I'm
- 42:26Speaker 1: always open for hypothetical bets with Twitter too. I bet
- 42:29Speaker 1: the City of Philadelphia they wouldn't win forty three games
- 42:32Speaker 1: and I lost, so I had to write every single
- 42:34Speaker 1: every single person an apology letter and eat my bet
- 42:37Speaker 1: ticket live on puckets. So I'm always down to do them.
- 42:40Speaker 1: Oh that's beautiful. I didn't even know that we can
- 42:43Speaker 1: just we can just get out a lot those on
- 42:45Speaker 1: Action Network and we can start sending traffic your way. Well,
- 42:49Speaker 1: so I'm gonna get a lot of I'm gonna get drunk,
- 42:51Speaker 1: and then I'm going to end up betting stupid things
- 42:54Speaker 1: with people that I have no upside and just just
- 42:57Speaker 1: for pride purposes, and then it's going to turn into
- 42:59Speaker 1: a thing. But yeah, so you know what, put it on,
- 43:01Speaker 1: Put it up there and I'll take a look. We
- 43:03Speaker 1: can periscope and it'll be fantastic live live taking bets
- 43:09Speaker 1: live with the Action Network. Uh, make me an offer,
- 43:13Speaker 1: and it's kind of like a deal or no deal.
- 43:15Speaker 1: You make a bet and if you're willing to eat
- 43:17Speaker 1: your jersey, the entire jersey if you lose. Maybe that's
- 43:21Speaker 1: something I'll be interested in. So I'll tell you what
- 43:23Speaker 1: you know, what people can people can do. People can
- 43:25Speaker 1: go into the buffet page on iTunes and in the
- 43:28Speaker 1: reviews they can write what the bet they want to
- 43:31Speaker 1: make with you. We will send them to you and
- 43:33Speaker 1: you can start tweeting out those. You can decide which
- 43:35Speaker 1: ones you want to take, and you can do a
- 43:36Speaker 1: little programming about it. Sounds good, but if you're listening
- 43:40Speaker 1: to this, make sure it's an offer that is legit.
- 43:43Speaker 1: Like I don't want to see no lopside. It offers
- 43:46Speaker 1: the unrealistic things. I can't write fourteen thousand letters again.
- 43:50Speaker 1: I'm only going to do that once. So come with
- 43:52Speaker 1: some creativity and we'll get back to you. I mean,
- 43:55Speaker 1: that's the beauty that says you can make the choice
- 43:57Speaker 1: right like anybody can pose anything they want in the
- 43:59Speaker 1: reviews action and then collectively we can decide which ones
- 44:03Speaker 1: you want to pursue and which ones aren't what you well,
- 44:05Speaker 1: it will make me a bet on the Warriors. I'm
- 44:07Speaker 1: saying the lawyers are gonna walk through the finals and
- 44:09Speaker 1: the sweep the Calves I'm willing to willing to take
- 44:12Speaker 1: action on it, so use that as your crooks and UM, yeah,
- 44:16Speaker 1: all right forward to see what comes in You heard
- 44:19Speaker 1: it worldwide Web, Go to our iTunes page, go to
- 44:21Speaker 1: the buffet. Type in your bets. Let's see what you
- 44:23Speaker 1: can get him to do for you. Follow him at
- 44:26Speaker 1: world underscore Wide underscore WOB on Twitter. Honestly, it is
- 44:31Speaker 1: probably the best NBA follow on Twitter. Um, thanks for
- 44:34Speaker 1: doing this, brother, I appreciate it. Thanks for the time.
- 44:37Speaker 1: Chid next up on the podcast. We originally thought it
- 44:41Speaker 1: was gonna be uh Stucky who wrote this great story
- 44:44Speaker 1: about all the prop bets that he's willing to take
- 44:47Speaker 1: from fans, like things that aren't on board that he'd
- 44:50Speaker 1: love to bet. And then we were bringing on Lauren
- 44:52Speaker 1: Joffe because she had some ideas on this too. Of course, Stucky,
- 44:57Speaker 1: while confirming, has now disappeared or and do not responded
- 45:00Speaker 1: to anybody's texts. So we're gonna merge. Probably we're gonna
- 45:05Speaker 1: morph from being just irritated to you know, sending in
- 45:08Speaker 1: an app to find Stucky at some point. But while
- 45:11Speaker 1: we were chatting, Joffy, you brought up a very interesting
- 45:15Speaker 1: theory to me, which is the idea of hate betting.
- 45:21Speaker 1: Explain to me where this comes from. Basically just comes
- 45:27Speaker 1: from me making best based on nothing but out of
- 45:33Speaker 1: irritations for specific person or like like, for instance, um
- 45:39Speaker 1: my ex boyfriend played for a USC and so he
- 45:44Speaker 1: whenever you know, we'd be playing them or anyone will
- 45:46Speaker 1: be playing though for that matter, um, I would bet
- 45:49Speaker 1: against it just because I wanted him to be annoyed
- 45:54Speaker 1: and sad and miserable. Like that was literally my only
- 45:58Speaker 1: reason for doing it. There was no numbers, back anything up.
- 46:01Speaker 1: It was just I'm gonna do this because that way
- 46:04Speaker 1: I could root for his misery. And I mean, and
- 46:10Speaker 1: that's just an example. That's one example. I mean, they
- 46:14Speaker 1: get they get really bad. For a while, I had
- 46:16Speaker 1: an I had another ex boyfriend who uh, whose dad
- 46:19Speaker 1: was a huge Cubs fan and this was this was
- 46:21Speaker 1: way back in the day, and uh, and he was
- 46:25Speaker 1: and he was going to go to the World Series
- 46:27Speaker 1: and he was so excite, and I was like, no,
- 46:28Speaker 1: I don't really want his dad to have any fun.
- 46:31Speaker 1: I mean, like, I mean, there was you know, there
- 46:33Speaker 1: was more behind us, but whatever, the whatever the point is,
- 46:37Speaker 1: I like, really I rooted against the Cubs just for
- 46:41Speaker 1: that purpose, and I actually felt guilty afterwards. I really
- 46:43Speaker 1: felt like I then the reason why. But but I
- 46:46Speaker 1: won the bet. So you know, why are you filled
- 46:49Speaker 1: with such rage? Why are you vindictively betting against people?
- 46:55Speaker 1: I I don't. I I think it had to do
- 47:00Speaker 1: just with Part of it I think is I'm I'm
- 47:06Speaker 1: jealous that perhaps my teams haven't been there, so I
- 47:11Speaker 1: don't want anyone else to be there. Um, I think that.
- 47:17Speaker 1: I just I think I need to do more with
- 47:20Speaker 1: my life currently. Um, I don't know. That's you know, well,
- 47:28Speaker 1: that's probably what more do you need to be doing?
- 47:31Speaker 1: Explained to people? Explain to people what exactly you aren't
- 47:36Speaker 1: doing or are you doing that? Like needs you to
- 47:39Speaker 1: do more? Well, I'm currently about a year ago, I moved,
- 47:47Speaker 1: I got sick. I'm all better now nothing, you know whatever,
- 47:50Speaker 1: I'm fine. Um, And I moved to d C because
- 47:53Speaker 1: that's where my parents were living in the Wanderny to
- 47:56Speaker 1: see doctors here, YadA, YadA, YadA. So meanwhile I'm here
- 48:00Speaker 1: and I'm going insane living. I mean, I'm an adult
- 48:05Speaker 1: living with her parents. It's it's it's driving me crazy. Um,
- 48:12Speaker 1: I don't know anyone here, and um, I don't like
- 48:16Speaker 1: it here so pretty much. I get rage built up
- 48:22Speaker 1: from that and and I have to spend it somewhere,
- 48:27Speaker 1: so you know, and so my my guess is you
- 48:31Speaker 1: are spending it on your hate bets. Yes, and on Twitter.
- 48:39Speaker 1: That's what I think. Oh Twitter for sure, because I
- 48:43Speaker 1: don't have I mean, like, I have my dogs here,
- 48:46Speaker 1: but you know, they get they only can listen to
- 48:48Speaker 1: so much of what I have to say, so I
- 48:51Speaker 1: have to tell someone and Twitter is a place to
- 48:53Speaker 1: do that. Um. You know, I don't like to necessarily
- 48:57Speaker 1: start fights with people, but it happens. And you know,
- 49:03Speaker 1: I realized, like I remember I was telling my friend
- 49:05Speaker 1: of like, oh my god, so today on Twitter, and
- 49:08Speaker 1: they looked at me like I was crazy. Um, but
- 49:11Speaker 1: that's literally that that that's somewhat of what I've been doing, um,
- 49:17Speaker 1: which you know is made for some good content, I suppose, Um,
- 49:21Speaker 1: but you know, must is going crazy, so well you know,
- 49:25Speaker 1: I'm in favor of you going crazy. Um. When people
- 49:28Speaker 1: ask me about Jeffy, I'm like, she's great. Uh, she's crazy,
- 49:32Speaker 1: but she's totally great. But it also means that you're
- 49:35Speaker 1: doing great content for us like your column this week
- 49:37Speaker 1: is fantastic, and you're gonna do another column for us.
- 49:40Speaker 1: So that's the ame. That really is the ame that Listen,
- 49:46Speaker 1: I'm a mercenary, honest to god. If your lack of
- 49:50Speaker 1: mental well being leads to better content for the Action Network,
- 49:54Speaker 1: by God, I'm all for it. I mean, and you
- 49:58Speaker 1: know what, I am at the point where I still
- 50:00Speaker 1: think it's funny. Like I mean I remember telling people
- 50:03Speaker 1: like when I was younger, and like, if you lock
- 50:05Speaker 1: me in a room for like a year by myself,
- 50:07Speaker 1: I think I would still come out laughing, like I
- 50:09Speaker 1: think I'm funny. Um, So, like I mean, you know,
- 50:17Speaker 1: this is a random this is a random story, but
- 50:20Speaker 1: there was this There's this guy sit behind us a
- 50:23Speaker 1: hockey games growing up, and I just remember him one
- 50:26Speaker 1: day going, Lauren, can you can you play Comma just
- 50:29Speaker 1: for like five minutes? And and that's sort of always
- 50:32Speaker 1: stuck with me, is people just just play Coma for
- 50:34Speaker 1: like five minutes, like you know, stop talking or you know,
- 50:38Speaker 1: shut up. Anyway, I thought that was funny. He basically
- 50:41Speaker 1: said to you, can you play Dead for five minutes? Yes,
- 50:44Speaker 1: like he wants quiet for five minutes. So that that's me, Like, yeah,
- 50:48Speaker 1: that's me like a lot of the time. Um, yeah,
- 50:53Speaker 1: you know, by all means, exploit it. What are you
- 50:56Speaker 1: thinking about in this room by yourself? Like what is
- 50:58Speaker 1: happening in there? I gotta know what's going on in
- 51:00Speaker 1: your head right now? I mean I have so many
- 51:03Speaker 1: Like there's just so much, so much things would have
- 51:05Speaker 1: happened in my life that have just been like insanely weird,
- 51:10Speaker 1: like just I mean I could tell stories. It's just stories.
- 51:14Speaker 1: I got stories about everything. Um, and they're all true,
- 51:17Speaker 1: which is the craziest part because I'm terrible a making
- 51:20Speaker 1: sit up, so um, they're all true and crazy, like
- 51:28Speaker 1: I could I mean specifically, I mean I once had
- 51:32Speaker 1: a had a I mean, this one isn't funny as
- 51:36Speaker 1: much as it is crazy, but it was just crazy
- 51:38Speaker 1: at the time. I'm thinking back to to what we
- 51:41Speaker 1: had this murderer that was U that ended up studying
- 51:44Speaker 1: at night in college in uh in our in our
- 51:48Speaker 1: dorm room or whatever. Um, and that's a whole other
- 51:51Speaker 1: story obviously, but just you know, when the cops came
- 51:54Speaker 1: at two o'clock in the morning and we had a
- 51:57Speaker 1: we had a homeless guy there that was from Oregon
- 51:59Speaker 1: that might other roommate had brought you know, Okay, maybe
- 52:03Speaker 1: this is it's too long a story to get into,
- 52:05Speaker 1: but no, no, no, no, hold on, hold on, hold
- 52:08Speaker 1: on hold the phone. Let's go back to the fact
- 52:14Speaker 1: that you had a murderer spend the night in your
- 52:17Speaker 1: dorm room. Yeah, so that well, at that point he
- 52:23Speaker 1: wasn't a murderer. I don't think he murdered the next night.
- 52:26Speaker 1: I think, yeah, it's to Arizona people did. Yeah, someone
- 52:33Speaker 1: that spent the night in your dorm room, like murdered
- 52:37Speaker 1: someone in Tucson the next day. What's the story? What happened? Yeah, basically,
- 52:43Speaker 1: we we had a roommate, like it was three of
- 52:46Speaker 1: my friends and we needed one more to be like
- 52:48Speaker 1: kind of got like a random ast signed roommate and
- 52:51Speaker 1: I thought she was totally cool until she showed up,
- 52:54Speaker 1: and you know, she was like very insufficisu and the
- 52:56Speaker 1: dead and and you know, like two days in the school,
- 53:00Speaker 1: she's like, hey, guys, I'm out are going on a
- 53:03Speaker 1: fish tour, and we're like okay, So she left to
- 53:06Speaker 1: go on a fish tour. Um she brought back a
- 53:09Speaker 1: homeless guy from Oregon and she literally said Hey, guys,
- 53:12Speaker 1: this is Cat. He's from Oregon and he's homeless. So
- 53:15Speaker 1: I brought him here. He's gonna stay with us for
- 53:16Speaker 1: a while, and we all just kind of went, um what,
- 53:21Speaker 1: But for whatever reason, we allowed it to happen anyway.
- 53:24Speaker 1: So meanwhile he's living with us. Um. I it's Halloween.
- 53:28Speaker 1: I go out, I come back home. There's some random
- 53:30Speaker 1: guys sting there and I'm like, hey, Sloan, that was
- 53:33Speaker 1: her name, you know who is this? And she's like,
- 53:35Speaker 1: he brought us some beer, so he's chilling with us.
- 53:37Speaker 1: So now I've got a homeless guy and some random
- 53:40Speaker 1: gut about her beer that are just you know, in
- 53:42Speaker 1: our place. Next day, she leaves for her second fish tour.
- 53:46Speaker 1: So if he leaves homeless guy that that she brought
- 53:48Speaker 1: back from their first fish tour with us, she leaves. Um.
- 53:53Speaker 1: The next a couple of days later, we had knock
- 53:55Speaker 1: gonna do at two o'clock in the morning, UM, and
- 53:58Speaker 1: it was the it was the just On Homicide or
- 54:01Speaker 1: Tusson Police Department Homicide Division, UM looking for this guy,
- 54:06Speaker 1: UM because he was there was some chick that was
- 54:11Speaker 1: found murdered and he was claiming that we were his alibis.
- 54:15Speaker 1: But um, as it turns out, we were. He was
- 54:18Speaker 1: with us the night before. So anyway, he got convicted
- 54:21Speaker 1: and he's in he's a prisoner. I did not even
- 54:31Speaker 1: know where that question was going to go. That, I mean,
- 54:39Speaker 1: it's totally off topic, so you know. But but the point,
- 54:46Speaker 1: the whole, the funny part of that, if we could
- 54:48Speaker 1: get back, that was just that the look on everyone
- 54:51Speaker 1: on the everyone stays like the cops are knocking on
- 54:54Speaker 1: the door two o'clock in the morning, my roommates trying
- 54:56Speaker 1: to hide the bomb, you know, homeless guys pretending he's
- 55:00Speaker 1: a sleep because he doesn't want to be questioned by
- 55:01Speaker 1: the cops. I mean, it was it was just not funny.
- 55:05Speaker 1: Like thinking back, I don't, like I wouldn't believe that
- 55:08Speaker 1: it was true. If it didn't happen, There's no way
- 55:11Speaker 1: you would believe it's true. Do you think do you
- 55:14Speaker 1: think there was a chance, like, like, who did he murder?
- 55:19Speaker 1: Did he murder someone he knew? No, No, some fourteen
- 55:24Speaker 1: year old girl. I've like gone back and tried to
- 55:26Speaker 1: find on the internet, and it's for whatever reason, I
- 55:29Speaker 1: cannot find the information um about this at all. But
- 55:34Speaker 1: I do but percent remember that it was Yeah, she
- 55:37Speaker 1: was murdered, stabbed, um, dumped into a riverbed um. Yeah,
- 55:46Speaker 1: and the whole this whole time, he was cleaning that
- 55:47Speaker 1: we were alibis. Um. Yeah, so I think and no,
- 55:55Speaker 1: I think it was all clearly he's just picking up
- 55:57Speaker 1: random six because he picked up my met so or
- 56:01Speaker 1: my roommates. So you know that's is mL. I guess
- 56:05Speaker 1: like when you look back out the story, do you
- 56:07Speaker 1: ever think, oh my god, I came this close to
- 56:09Speaker 1: being murdered or do you think I mean, there's been
- 56:16Speaker 1: some dumb things I've done in my life. Like I
- 56:18Speaker 1: drove across country and like literally we decided that we
- 56:23Speaker 1: weren't going to stop for anything. So literally, you know,
- 56:26Speaker 1: we're like nineteen years old driving across the country. The
- 56:30Speaker 1: whole entire time, I was like telling asleep at the
- 56:32Speaker 1: wheel literally um, because she was mad because I didn't
- 56:36Speaker 1: want to stop because we were wasting time. I mean,
- 56:39Speaker 1: We've been really dumb, stopping some gas stations, slept in
- 56:42Speaker 1: the car. I look up to like random people looking
- 56:44Speaker 1: in us like yeah, there's one of things. But I'm like,
- 56:48Speaker 1: how do I not die? But um, yeah, see I
- 56:52Speaker 1: don't know why you have such hate in your heart
- 56:56Speaker 1: and eventful, if I were you, I'd be feeling really
- 57:02Speaker 1: lucky and thinking, Wow, I've made it through so many times,
- 57:05Speaker 1: like I'm playing with house money right now, I to
- 57:11Speaker 1: to a degree. I mean hate most the hate usually
- 57:16Speaker 1: stems from from boys. Is usually where it stems from. Um,
- 57:21Speaker 1: domestic my heart sad face. Um, but that's that's mostly
- 57:28Speaker 1: with that bage comes from. But yes, But anyway, the
- 57:31Speaker 1: point of the whole thing I think would be funny
- 57:33Speaker 1: and I've loved stories to tell myself Again Listen, I
- 57:36Speaker 1: think you're hilarious. Um. I think that there is something
- 57:40Speaker 1: to be done about the combination between hate betting and
- 57:46Speaker 1: sort of the emotion that overtakes people and needing to
- 57:52Speaker 1: separate that from the actual science of betting. It's something
- 57:59Speaker 1: I I'm I'm working on, UM, definitely working on that.
- 58:05Speaker 1: There's you know, like, like I told you the the
- 58:11Speaker 1: Philly bett other day, Um, what've done out of just
- 58:16Speaker 1: irritation for someone? Um, like I didn't look at the
- 58:20Speaker 1: number and look at any o that story because that
- 58:25Speaker 1: might have been while we were waiting for Stucky. Oh. Basically, um, Um,
- 58:31Speaker 1: Chad and PJ, that would be me and p J
- 58:35Speaker 1: Walsh and we were we have we have a slack
- 58:41Speaker 1: channel that is dedicated to side action, where like, if
- 58:44Speaker 1: anyone wants to make a bet, they throw it in
- 58:46Speaker 1: there and if they get a taker, then we got
- 58:48Speaker 1: a side action alert. And uh. The other day I
- 58:51Speaker 1: offered up I wanted to take Philly nine of six
- 58:53Speaker 1: and a half over the Celtics in game four, which
- 58:57Speaker 1: covered and p J. Wallace, one of editors, came in
- 59:00Speaker 1: said he liked Boston and you were in the channel
- 59:02Speaker 1: and yeah yeah, And I said, I'm like, yep, I'm
- 59:06Speaker 1: taking out that you were taking Boston. Obviously we both lost. Yeah. Um,
- 59:13Speaker 1: And I legitimately had not looked at numbers any dad nothing.
- 59:19Speaker 1: I just was like, you know what, there's this guy
- 59:22Speaker 1: in his group chat on him and and you know
- 59:24Speaker 1: he is nonstopped. Philadelphia is the best, Philadelphia ruled. Everyone
- 59:28Speaker 1: else sucks and I've just had it. So I said,
- 59:31Speaker 1: I'm just gonna I'm reading against him, like I'm gonna
- 59:33Speaker 1: put money here because I need Like that's how mad
- 59:36Speaker 1: I was. Whatever. Yeah, the flip side is when I
- 59:45Speaker 1: was in college, So really, what does it matter if
- 59:47Speaker 1: I lose that? Licially in the grand scheme of things. Um,
- 59:52Speaker 1: it's no deal. It really isn't a big deal, you know.
- 59:56Speaker 1: Um yeah, Uh, you're gonna have a column up that
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: goes up probably today. You will have another one that
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: probably goes up later this week. The recording this on Tuesday.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: It's going to post on Wednesday. People can read Lauren
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Joffe um at the Action Network Action network dot com.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: They can follow you at the Spin Zone. I'm glad stuck.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: He blew us off. I'm gonna fucking call him. I'm
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: kind of piste, you know, fox stuck. But um, otherwise
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: we would have gotten at least close to some of
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: the deep seated issues that you're that you're wrestling with
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: right now. I think I think you got a lot
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: to work through. But I swear I'm totally normal. I
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: really am totally a totally normal person who thinks she's
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: hilarious sitting by herself in her parents house. I think
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: that would be accurate. Totally keep writing those stories though,
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: they're doing great. Oh I will, I will, I will,
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: all right, Jothy, thank you very much. Alright, Alry by
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: light
