The Eaton Fire, which ravaged Altadena and Pasadena in January 2025, has finally been officially investigated — and blame points to an out-of-service transmission tower whose electrical arcing sparked the blaze. The fire, fueled by dry brush on a ridge overlooking Eaton Wash, destroyed or damaged over 9,000 homes and claimed 19 lives. Southern California Edison has already paid more than $314 million in compensation to affected residents, but recovery for the community remains a long, painful journey.
