- 0:21grew up on static and midnight shows.
- 0:26MTV raised us. You already know, latchkey
- 0:33hearts and wild eyed dreams, feral minds tearing at the
- 0:39scene. You say it's too much to unpack
- 0:46but I'll see you wait and I've got
- 1:12Good morning. Welcome or welcome back to that
- 1:15Gen. X Friend podcast.
- 1:17So I've been up since 2:00. Welcome to, I guess, getting
- 1:23older, especially for women. So before I begin, I want to
- 1:30give a shout out to MB Radio. As always, thank you for this
- 1:33platform for me to share the musings of living today in
- 1:42modern times and also going through life as humanity has
- 1:51always gone through. But I'm sure we have different
- 1:53things to share. So let's get started.
- 1:58You know, I, I often share how I fitted a lot right before I
- 2:04like, you know, the intros playing and I'm like trying to
- 2:08fix my glasses. And like, now that I'm older,
- 2:13I've always worn glasses. I'm farsighted, really
- 2:16farsighted. So I've worn glasses since I was
- 2:19really, really young, like, I think toddler.
- 2:22But, you know, as I age, as most people age, I think they begin
- 2:31to feel the pain of having not just like, I used to wear just
- 2:35one lens, right. I didn't need it anything
- 2:38particular for reading. But now I have what is called
- 2:42transitions. Transitions.
- 2:44Yeah. That before the technology
- 2:47arrived, you will see the bifocals, but the transitions
- 2:51sort of blur the line so you don't see it, which is a sure
- 2:56sign of aging. I guess I'm grateful for it, but
- 3:00it doesn't really help the the things that we do as people who
- 3:06wear either bifocals or transitions.
- 3:09I think some people still wear the bifocals for some reason.
- 3:13I've seen them around. But I guess blurring the line
- 3:19you don't see it is sort of vanity, which sort of feeds into
- 3:22what I'm talking about today. So this morning I was like
- 3:27trying to fix my glasses. And sometimes now you may be
- 3:31able to see it. I'm, I'm lifting my head up a
- 3:34little bit more because my, the, my bifocals start here.
- 3:39They put it to where you're however, your eyesight is
- 3:45positioned right how you feel comfortable.
- 3:48So sometimes I'm doing this, which is because I can't see
- 3:52because I'm really, really close to not really close to the
- 3:54screen, but close to the screen enough where where I'm looking
- 3:59into the distance, which is like eye level to me.
- 4:05I can't really focus on the screen.
- 4:08Like things look very blurry. So I was trying to fix that and
- 4:13I was frankly trying to like clean my glasses.
- 4:17And also I, I try not to do that because I have to wear these
- 4:23things that hold my glasses to my head.
- 4:27Just another thing. So all part of aging and the
- 4:32things that we have to deal with, not everybody, but certain
- 4:36people, a large portion of the population.
- 4:39And I, I wanted to talk about this sort of topic today because
- 4:47aging, it's not like we're the first generation to go through
- 4:50it. Obviously not it, it has, it's
- 4:56our own show because obviously we are the, we are the main
- 5:04character and we're also the one that's watching because we watch
- 5:07ourselves in the mirror, we watch ourselves in during our
- 5:12daily lives. And it can be very heartbreaking
- 5:18and just hilariously funny in a ironic way.
- 5:27And I, I wanted to share it and kind kind of tie it into the, I
- 5:34don't know if you guys remember the show, the Wonder years.
- 5:37I love that show so much. But of course, it was written
- 5:41about coming of age youth, how they grew up during that time.
- 5:49I think it was in the 60s or 70s, which is also Gen.
- 5:54X. So I'm going to share a little
- 6:01bit of my show because I have the box seat and you know, it's,
- 6:07it's, it's funny to me sometimes like not in like funny, ha, ha.
- 6:13But like, you want to cry, you want to laugh.
- 6:18And I think the title, The Wonder Years, of course, I'm not
- 6:22going to, I'm not going to use it because they can't really
- 6:25copyright words. But this is my show.
- 6:28So it's my wonder years. And it's appropriate because I'm
- 6:33wondering about everything now I'm wondering, Oh my God, has it
- 6:36all been a lie? Like why did I do this?
- 6:39Why did I do that? You know, I gave, I gave some
- 6:42examples of of the things I wonder about.
- 6:49So you know, I have a rather I don't, I don't know, I have a
- 6:59unique sense of humor, right? But one of the things I do find
- 7:04hilariously funny is you tell a fart joke and I I'm done.
- 7:09I'm done. When I laugh like
- 7:12uncontrollably, I will also snort like the you know, I can't
- 7:16help it. I have a pug nose.
- 7:18It's OK, but I find myself, since you can see the Gray hair,
- 7:24and obviously it's not, it is very apparent to anybody who is
- 7:31within my vicinity that I am an older woman with Gray hair.
- 7:36But God help me if you tell a fart joke.
- 7:40If I hear a fart joke, if, if a dog farts near me, if a bird
- 7:44baby farts near me, I'm losing. It doesn't even have to be a
- 7:48joke. But when I'm in public, which is
- 7:53not often, and those things do happen, I find myself trying
- 8:00really, really, really hard, Like really really hard guys to
- 8:06subdue this. Like the need to burst out
- 8:09laughing and roll around on the floor kind of thing because,
- 8:12well, I guess it's a sign of immaturity.
- 8:22To be honest. I, I, I don't know if I've ever
- 8:24matured past at least my sense of humor, past military humor,
- 8:30which is very, very low grade and immature.
- 8:36But for the sake of decorum, I, I subdue myself in public,
- 8:43right? Which part of that I find funny
- 8:47because what I, I need to uphold this vision of me as an older
- 8:54person, but knowing who I am, I'm like, well, why can't I
- 8:58laugh and then just say just let's just go with this laughing
- 9:04at Fergus. Just say one time and I have
- 9:08burst out laughing before and and people, of course, they
- 9:15don't know what to do. Why is that woman laughing so
- 9:19hard at this? That isn't that's a little off
- 9:22putting or not off putting, but seems like it makes you go.
- 9:28I think that was a song too. Of course I noticed and I've
- 9:36given the side eye, which is my is my next example.
- 9:40Or even if I just give the side eye for whatever reason, and
- 9:45suddenly I find myself like flinching because there has been
- 9:50a nerve, a new discovery that it's never been done before,
- 9:53like inhumanity. And I'm like, I think I just
- 9:57discover a new nerve that's just been pinched in my body that's
- 10:00unrelated to my eyes moving from side to side given the side eye.
- 10:05Why does this happen? I think I can make episodes of
- 10:10this for my wonder years. I, I wonder about these things,
- 10:14you know, and then of course, being, being a woman, menopause
- 10:28happens. Stick with me, guys.
- 10:30I know you guys, not my, not all of my audience will understand
- 10:36what I'm talking about. But, you know, I think most
- 10:38people understand or have heard of these changes to a woman's
- 10:43body, right? And depending when I'm out,
- 10:50which is not often, right? I keep saying depending on what
- 10:53I'm wearing, the size that I'm wearing, how my personality will
- 11:01actually fluctuate. Like, how do I subdue myself it
- 11:04today? We'll go with a fart joke thing,
- 11:09right? Say, oh, I'm feeling cute today.
- 11:14I'm I'm wearing a size that I think I look good in.
- 11:19I might actually not subdue myself as much perhaps if
- 11:25somebody farted near me and I'm like, I feel cute today.
- 11:32So Oh yeah. So my personality will also
- 11:35fluctuate, but bringing it back to as women get older, our body
- 11:43will change. And I am a mother.
- 11:46And so there's, well, you know, you just pack weight
- 11:51differently. You just pack weight
- 11:52differently. And, and because I do notice it,
- 12:00'cause I'm the watcher, I am the, I am the sole viewership,
- 12:05the, the everyday. I am a dedicated fan of this my
- 12:10wonder years. I'm constantly watching.
- 12:12I'm judging the character. I'm judging what she's wearing,
- 12:15right? I'm always watching.
- 12:19So I do notice that now more and more, I'm becoming more aware
- 12:26that the size that I wear sort of dictates how my personality
- 12:34will come out right? And most of the time, even if
- 12:38I'm feeling cute today, I'm still silently judging myself
- 12:46for hours if not a whole day about I did right I I wish I was
- 12:53the status I thought I was when I was in high school.
- 12:57Which I was teeny. Like I was 100 and freaking 5
- 13:01lbs I think Max. I went to high school with 78
- 13:05lbs guys, so but I I still fat, felt fat then.
- 13:10So I spent an enormous time wishing that I was as fat as I
- 13:16thought I was when I was in high school.
- 13:19As part of this my show, I'm judging my wardrobe, I'm judging
- 13:24my hair, I'm judging everything about me.
- 13:30I'm wondering about different things that comes with aging, so
- 13:37much so that man, how much time am I wasting?
- 13:45I'm not saying all the questions I wonder about like, huh, I
- 13:49wonder if I should come out something with adulting.
- 13:56Oh yeah, let me set up life insurance.
- 13:59So just in case that's something that's actually useful, right?
- 14:04So not all the things I wonder about that comes with age and a
- 14:08certain level of maturity is a waste of time, but the majority
- 14:13of my time is wasted on irrelevant things as a main
- 14:25character. Like, well, does her hair look
- 14:28OK? Is she like, tilting her up too
- 14:31much because she can't see the screen?
- 14:34Does she look older? Well, I'm so thankful I don't
- 14:37have the, you know, the, the lines anymore that shows that I
- 14:41wear bifocals. But I'm wondering why I have to
- 14:46behave properly, right? Because of my Gray hair and my,
- 14:57I suppose, perceived level of maturity.
- 15:05You know, the title of today's podcast is kind of playful.
- 15:08I did it in a playful way. Vanity sizes and personalities.
- 15:13Because for me, a lot of it does come down to which is sad, which
- 15:25is really sad. What I'm wearing day-to-day, it
- 15:31dictates how I feel, what kind of personality I have.
- 15:35Like, am I walking around like Jabba the Hutt 'cause I, I, I
- 15:44feel uncomfortable about myself. And then am I also behaving as
- 15:50such to unsuspected unsuspecting people?
- 15:57Like if I'm talking to somebody, am I behaving badly because they
- 16:03don't see me? We're on the phone, but I'm in,
- 16:07let's just say a very loose stress because I feel like aging
- 16:14has taken away this. I don't know, just need to
- 16:27taking my away my right to feel beautiful.
- 16:37I don't know, I'm coming up with this as I go because today I'm
- 16:42feeling like Jabba the Hutt. It is just what it is.
- 16:48So my personality, not that it's subdued, but it's because I'm
- 16:55actually talking about it. So I'm sharing this, but I know
- 16:59that I'm going to act differently today and being the
- 17:05only everyday viewer of my My own Wonders ears show.
- 17:15And even if there's like infrequent viewers like we all
- 17:18have, right? Because we are our number one
- 17:20fans, because we are we're always with ourselves and there
- 17:26are people that come and go whether it doesn't matter like
- 17:29whether it's in public or family or whatever.
- 17:34These infrequent viewers that come into our that they're
- 17:39guests, they're guests on our show.
- 17:45Like I would, I actually modify my behaviour unconsciously or
- 17:50consciously because of how I feel that day.
- 17:53And it's largely due to my size and all the baggages that's tied
- 18:01to it burn wise from like, oh, I'm older.
- 18:04I used to wear a size 0. I used to wear kid sizes.
- 18:08But now you know, it's not so it's not so.
- 18:18But on different days when I'm I'm feeling really cute, I'm
- 18:23like, oh, I feel cute today. I do also notice the
- 18:29fluctuation. I may be a little bit more
- 18:32flamboyant in if I allow myself to say I go in public to laugh
- 18:38at certain things because I, I guess being a size that I like,
- 18:47perceive myself in the vanity size, like the the vanity size
- 18:52that makes me feel good. I then also allow myself, my
- 18:56personality to come out more, which is it makes me tilt my
- 19:05head like my fur baby does when I talk to him.
- 19:13Like we do have quite deep conversations.
- 19:16We do, I'm just saying they understand.
- 19:19OK, so but who? This is what's making me think
- 19:29because I've noticed it more and more as I get older as I'm doing
- 19:33this more just to read something like if I had a paper Infirmary
- 19:36I would have to tilt my head up to look at it because the
- 19:40bifocals start here. The.
- 19:44And the older I get the more I pay attention to my wonder years
- 19:50because each day brings with it not just a side eye.
- 19:54Like I pinch the nerve giving somebody the side eye.
- 19:57I can breathe wrong and my whole body will hurt.
- 20:01I don't know why. So now I'm paying more
- 20:04attention. But but why?
- 20:09But what perplexes me is the why I put so much.
- 20:17That's why I put myself as the character, right?
- 20:20Because we are our main characters in our own show.
- 20:23As my wonder years, I feel like I'm putting more attention,
- 20:33focusing more attention on my wardrobe, my hair as the like
- 20:45the gateway for me to be me. These vanity sizes that comes
- 20:50with vanity personalities because I feel cute, my cuter
- 20:54personality will come out or I feel like Jabba the Hutt and
- 20:58therefore I shall behave as Jabba the Hutt, which is, which
- 21:06is terrible, mean you know, you know, for all those Star Wars
- 21:12lovers. But why do I do this since I've
- 21:17already confirmed that I am the only viewer, dedicated viewer.
- 21:23I'm your #1 fan of my own show. And those infrequent viewers
- 21:29that cross my path who know me, they, they don't.
- 21:38They seldom pay attention to the things I'm paying attention to.
- 21:45But yet I left my wardrobe because I'm aging, because it's
- 21:52so painfully obvious as I look at myself.
- 21:59I left my aging and how I can how I can hide it or how it is
- 22:09shown outwardly play the navigator of how I am.
- 22:23I mean, society has a lot to do with it because we do judge.
- 22:27Ageism is real. And I'm not saying, I'm not
- 22:32saying start looking like the crazy cat lady from, you know,
- 22:35from The Simpsons or Peter from The Family Guy and, and, and not
- 22:43caring. But I am allowing myself to be
- 22:54like overwhelmed by things that I didn't let be so intrusive
- 23:03when I was younger now that I didn't care because it's a
- 23:06different type of sort of caring how you look when you're
- 23:09younger. And people have, we all have
- 23:14that sort of, I don't know, peer pressure to look a certain way.
- 23:19I'm not saying that it didn't happen when we were younger, but
- 23:22as I get older, it's the loss of that.
- 23:26Like, oh, man, I wish I was as fast as I thought I was when I
- 23:32was in high school. Like looking back, like, man,
- 23:35what was I doing? I was focusing like I was
- 23:39literally, I don't know, punishing myself for non
- 23:47existent things. And so today I'm also doing the
- 23:52same thing because I am punishing myself for not being
- 23:59able to fit into clothes that I could when I was pre baby right?
- 24:09Or wondering why when I do certain things my body hurts
- 24:17because I'm still holding myself to this weird standard that
- 24:21shouldn't be. That was applied when I was
- 24:24younger. And when I was younger I applied
- 24:27a whole different set of things that should have no control over
- 24:31me during that time. It is just like a cascading
- 24:36effect, but it's more painful. I've noticed as I've gotten
- 24:41older to allow these things because now I know better who I
- 24:52am. Sort of like I know.
- 24:54I don't think I would have admitted when I was younger that
- 24:57I find fart jokes hilariously funny.
- 24:59OK, I can't help it. There are other jokes that I
- 25:02find hilariously funny that probably should not be
- 25:05mentioned, but fart jokes. Like, I don't remember ever
- 25:14being able to divulge something like that.
- 25:16I mean, I probably laughed my head off within control, within
- 25:21control, right within the the situational appropriateness.
- 25:25If everybody else is laughing, I will probably like, Oh no, so
- 25:28funny. But today I find myself just
- 25:32like, belly achingly laughing. If you tell a good fart joke,
- 25:38you know when I'm by myself. But I know this now and I think
- 25:44it's, I think it's hilarious and I can say it out loud, even if I
- 25:48have to look up at you from the lens that I can actually see.
- 25:54But I know that's a part of me. I'm not so ashamed of saying it,
- 26:02but yet I'm still sort of unable to let myself be because I feel
- 26:13the need to fit into this image of this Gray hair woman.
- 26:24Like, oh, if you look like that you shouldn't do this.
- 26:29But perhaps if you thought you look cute today, you can give
- 26:33yourself some leeway. What a weird, cascading sort of
- 26:37web that we do to ourselves. Perhaps your wonder years have
- 26:47different questions. Perhaps.
- 26:53I'm pretty sure of it. You guys asked a lot deeper
- 26:56questions. And you know, may not like fart
- 26:59jokes like I do, but you can you share similar situations or
- 27:11similar thoughts like you let certain things like for me, it's
- 27:16the size I'm wearing it. It's true being being a female,
- 27:20it really does. It impacts me.
- 27:23It takes so much of my time. Even if I'm not going anywhere,
- 27:26it it still impacts my day. Perhaps it's different for you.
- 27:30Perhaps it's whatever it is that depending on how you feel the
- 27:38vanity size and you put on how your personality comes out for
- 27:45that day. My vanity size is literally the
- 27:49vanity size. Like, oh, I'm wearing a large
- 27:52moo moo today or I'm wearing some really cute shorts like and
- 27:56it's a small. It totally does impact how my
- 28:01personality comes out and I'm going back to it.
- 28:08I'm the only dedicated viewer of my show.
- 28:11Who am I performing for? My fur baby loves me no matter
- 28:19what. Doesn't matter what size I'm
- 28:22wearing. Doesn't matter if I'm wearing a
- 28:24moo moo or some like hip jeans. I'm not talking about the
- 28:29hipsters. I'm like, wow, that's a really
- 28:32old word. Hip, fashionable jeans, right?
- 28:38He wouldn't care. I guess he would be the only
- 28:41other dedicated viewer. Not that he cares about what I
- 28:45wear, but he's here. So what vanity sizes and
- 28:56personalities are we putting on ourselves on a daily basis for
- 29:06the sake of the non viewers or infrequent viewers who really
- 29:11aren't paying attention who have ADHD and also they have their
- 29:15own lives to pay attention to? And then if that's the case, why
- 29:23are we even doing what we're doing?
- 29:26Is it so bad if I if I'm wearing my oversized moo moo, let's just
- 29:32say and I go out, I go out shopping and like a baby farts
- 29:40and I just cannot control myself.
- 29:44Would it matter if I didn't feel cute that day and I felt like
- 29:47Jabba the hood that I laughed because it's my personality.
- 29:54And then I disregarded the vanity sizes and the
- 29:58personalities that these sizes came in with.
- 30:02Like if you were a size small, you can do this.
- 30:05If you're a size medium, you can do that.
- 30:11Would it matter? I think I would save myself a
- 30:14lot more time. Obviously, health and Wellness
- 30:18being always should always be a focus.
- 30:22We're not trying to be the crazy cat lady from Homer Simpson from
- 30:25The Simpsons, and we're not trying to be Peter from The
- 30:28Family Guy, right? But how much?
- 30:36How much on this journey of aging?
- 30:38Because our bodies are going to change, it's inevitable.
- 30:44How much time are we wasting being dictated by these sort of
- 30:54nebulous vanity sizes and personalities that comes with
- 30:59it? And it could be your job, right?
- 31:01The vanity size could be your job.
- 31:03Like, well, I used to be a lawyer, I used to be an officer,
- 31:07blah, blah, blah. Whatever rank.
- 31:08Those are also sizes that we try on, We put on like some people
- 31:13are too big for their bridges. Some people are too small for
- 31:17their bridges. Some people are wearing granny
- 31:19panties and well, they should be wearing a parachute.
- 31:23I, I don't know it, it just doesn't matter.
- 31:25The sizes are not physical sizes like it is for me, my dress
- 31:32size. It, it could be your job, it it
- 31:36could be achievements. It could be all these things
- 31:40that we try on for the vanity size and the personalities
- 31:44that's supposed to come with it, right?
- 31:46It's like you, you buy it off the shelf.
- 31:48This is the size these are this is the list of how you can
- 31:51behave dot dot dot dot, right? It it goes on.
- 31:59How often are we doing that to the point that we deny ourselves
- 32:06of who we truly are? Like the quirkiness.
- 32:10Your quirkiness is awesome, by the way.
- 32:14You don't have to laugh at fart jokes like I do.
- 32:17You can have a very unique quirkiness that makes you a
- 32:22stand out, right? And people are drawn to you for
- 32:26it. But how many of us are using
- 32:30these vanity sizes to subdue who we really are as people?
- 32:36I mean, one of, I guess one of the benefits of getting older is
- 32:39that you slowly but surely become the person who no longer
- 32:46has the filter. You're like, oh, I'm so
- 32:48exhausted. I, I just, I, I just can't play
- 32:50that game. I'm just going to be me, right?
- 32:54Slowly but surely. But how much energy is wasted
- 33:03before we realize that it's OK to be us, no matter whatever
- 33:12size that you currently have on, right?
- 33:15Whatever job, whatever dress size, and those vanity sizes
- 33:27shouldn't dictate how your personality comes out because
- 33:32they're also vanity. They are boxed within those
- 33:36vanity sizes. I don't know, I think the world
- 33:48wouldn't be so cookie cutter. It seems like to me like every
- 33:55influencer is trying to look a certain way.
- 33:57Oh, you, your hair has to be this way.
- 33:59You know you've seen like DeGeneres, right?
- 34:03All their pictures are like photoshopped to the point they
- 34:05have no pores. Like their skin is perfect.
- 34:08The mom just had a plastic surgery that makes her look like
- 34:12she's 30 something. Everybody's trying to look a
- 34:14certain way. The vanity sizes for them, it's
- 34:18their, it's how they look in a picture.
- 34:21Of course, it has a lot to do with clothing sizes.
- 34:23They Photoshop themselves, but every there's, there's no more
- 34:28uniqueness. I'm not saying I'm enjoying this
- 34:31aging process and that I find, you know, oh goodness, there's
- 34:38another. I don't know, pain that I never
- 34:40knew I could have or wow, looks like somebody marched across my
- 34:45face. There's lines everywhere, like
- 34:48I'm not saying I'm enjoying it, but at least I look like me.
- 34:53But when I put on these manatee sizes, I feel controlled of my
- 35:00own doing. Nobody's telling me to do this.
- 35:03Well, the largest society is saying, well, we don't accept
- 35:06you if you don't put on these different sizes of things that
- 35:10we want. We're accepting and these are
- 35:13the personalities that comes with it.
- 35:15And God forbid a Gray haired lady, obviously an older woman
- 35:22just cannot contain herself as snorting because she's laughing
- 35:27so hard because she hurt somebody fart.
- 35:30How appalling, right? God forbid that happens.
- 35:37But then when we allow that to happen, we spend energy on
- 35:45things that nobody really pays attention to.
- 35:51Really they don't because we are our own #1 fan.
- 35:58I'm your #1 fan. You know, you're we're the only
- 36:01one that's really actually always watching, always watching
- 36:05with this critical eye and we're self, I don't know, abridging,
- 36:15subduing who we are that can add levity to the world like a
- 36:22light, because I think we are afraid to be unique anymore
- 36:31because we don't fall in line with this and that we're
- 36:33cancelled vanity sizes, right. If you stand up for this and
- 36:38you're good. If you stand up for that, you're
- 36:40bad. And there's personalities that
- 36:42comes with it. We all know so, but why are we
- 36:48doing that? I'm not saying if like there's
- 36:51legit people who are crazy. Yeah, well, you know, have some
- 36:54self-awareness, get some help. I'm getting help.
- 36:59So. But you know, always two ways to
- 37:03know Appropriate. But I'm saying within the
- 37:05boundaries of not being harmless.
- 37:09Like what does me laughing in a fart joke matter to anybody
- 37:13else? You know, Or having Gray hair
- 37:19and laughing in a fart joke matter to anybody else?
- 37:21It doesn't. It shouldn't.
- 37:22But I spent an enormous amount of time letting Disfanity
- 37:33control me from the way I dress, from the way I comb my hair,
- 37:40from the way I try to hide the fact that I can't see anything
- 37:43right now. So, and it's sad, and although
- 37:55we may be our biggest fans and biggest critics, we don't, I
- 38:07don't think we should. That sounded really appreciate.
- 38:15I just want to, I don't know, say be proud of your
- 38:21personality, right? Your quirkiness, these vanity
- 38:25sizes don't matter because really nobody's really watching.
- 38:29Like even if you wore the same clothes twice in a row, I don't
- 38:35think people even notice. Right.
- 38:39But yet we let it play such a big part of our lives or
- 38:45whatever job or what did you do yesterday?
- 38:47Did you accomplish it? It's once it's gone, people
- 38:50don't really notice. Yeah, there are guest stars on
- 38:54our show like friends and family or Co workers.
- 38:58But they also have their own show going on that they're being
- 39:02the number one fans of of themselves.
- 39:06That's it's nature. We pay attention more to
- 39:08ourselves what's going on in our lives more than we do for
- 39:13others, right? Unless the situation calls for
- 39:16otherwise. So I share this because I find
- 39:23it funny as I age. Not that I wasn't neurotic
- 39:29before, we've all been through it, the peer pressure of looking
- 39:32a certain way, needing to live a certain way.
- 39:35But with social media and all this, it seems like we are now
- 39:40more and more under the spell of needing to be within these
- 39:50vanity sizes and personalities because it's become so out
- 39:56there. Everybody's out there for
- 39:58everybody to see, right? And anybody can say anything to
- 40:01you. Not like before, like I got
- 40:03picked on when I was younger, whatever, but I could come home
- 40:07and it was shielded like because everybody's on social media,
- 40:10there's always somebody saying something that really has.
- 40:15I mean, if the it's like watching it, it's like watching
- 40:20your show and somebody's like they clicked on your channel
- 40:22like, Oh, I. Her hair is horrible.
- 40:25Why is so, so Gray? Click, it's off.
- 40:27That was the only time they watched me.
- 40:28That was the only time they ever encountered my show.
- 40:32And all of a sudden, you know, they might have give me their
- 40:35look. They might even have mutter
- 40:37under their breath. God, what's going on with her,
- 40:40right? And then I come home, I bring
- 40:42that stuff. And now I have more of a need to
- 40:49put on these vanity whatever, whatever, right to look a
- 40:53certain way and also have this personality to match it.
- 40:57And it's so sad. It is I am being judgy and it's
- 41:03so sad. And I just, I'm like I've said
- 41:08before, I share these things because I'm neurotic, but also
- 41:14to give myself the freedom to be me beyond the vanity sizes,
- 41:21right? To be who I am, my personality.
- 41:26Of course, we all also fluctuate.
- 41:28That's also normal. But not let these sizes put me
- 41:34into the box that came with like the personalities that came with
- 41:39these boxes. Like you're wearing a small
- 41:42today. You can behave this way, or you
- 41:44know you, I don't know, you did something great today and now
- 41:50you can't behave that way. All kinds of sizes for all kinds
- 41:53of things, but they're all vanity.
- 41:56Because when, when, when we look into ourselves, who we really
- 42:00are, if nobody was watching, will we behave that way?
- 42:07I know I'll be laughing hysterically at a fart joke if
- 42:14nobody was watching, right? Amongst other jokes.
- 42:20But yeah, it's to give myself permission and, and share it,
- 42:25put it out there like, hey guys, I feel this way.
- 42:29I'm living through this aging thing.
- 42:31And it's, it's funny. Very, very funny sometimes, but
- 42:38and sometimes so very painful to watch because I can see the
- 42:41irony. I can see why it's like watching
- 42:46the slow train wreck. You're like, no, don't do it.
- 42:49And I in reality, I'm actually doing it the the slow train
- 42:55wreck. I'm doing it just watching
- 42:58myself fall all over the place, and I have no recourse because
- 43:03I'm so, so controlled by these arbitrary vanity sizes and
- 43:11personalities. So I don't know.
- 43:17I don't know who else feels like that or like this.
- 43:23But you're not alone. And I'll continue to laugh
- 43:28myself. And perhaps since I already
- 43:31shared this and now you know that I have AI have a love for
- 43:34lowbrow humor, perhaps regardless of how cute I think I
- 43:40look today or not, if I go outside in the public and
- 43:47somebody farts or has, you know, not in a mean way laughing, but
- 43:51just like, wow, that was funny that I would not subdue myself
- 43:57in my personality for the sake of needing to fit into a box
- 44:04version of what I should be based on the dress size I wear
- 44:09because that's what I'm controlled by.
- 44:11And depending on what you're controlled by, perhaps you'll
- 44:15give yourself permission to let your personality sign through
- 44:19the quirkiness. You know, the little glimmer in
- 44:24your eye when, I don't know, when you really want to just hug
- 44:31a puppy, when you know if somebody you know has a puppy.
- 44:35And usually you're very composed, like, no, no, I'm not
- 44:38going to do that because I'm wearing this size.
- 44:41And the personality says, no, maybe you become become so giddy
- 44:47and they can see this, the little glimmer in your eye and
- 44:50you're like, Oh my God, you're so cute.
- 44:53And and do that or, or go up and tell somebody, Hey, you know, I
- 44:58think you're really funny or I, I think you look great for
- 45:04whatever and let that shine through.
- 45:09We're so we're also unique in our own way.
- 45:13It's a shame to let this arbitrary wardrobe of society
- 45:22control what we do on our own show.
- 45:24We are the producer, the director, the, you know, the set
- 45:29production and all like costume designer, all that.
- 45:34We can do our own thing. So I say, I think they used to
- 45:40say let you freak flag fly. I I don't mean to say in that
- 45:45way, like you can be a freak, but you know, let your
- 45:48personality shine through. That's my and that's what I
- 45:54wanted to share today and perhaps today.
- 45:56I, despite the fact that I feel like Jabba the hood, I'm going
- 46:02to give myself permission to be me and not let the size that I'm
- 46:09wearing dictate how I can. I should behave like I should be
- 46:15sullen because man, I feel like Jabba the hood today.
- 46:19Maybe I'll be happy anyways. Maybe I'll be happy because you
- 46:24know what, for whatever reason, and I'm not going to let this
- 46:29size control what my personality should be.
- 46:33We'll see how it goes, guys. So anyways, that's my ramblings
- 46:41for today. Vanity sizes and personalities.
- 46:45Meh. We are the directors of our own
- 46:48show. Let your personality sign
- 46:53through. That's that's how.
- 46:55That's how to be a stand out right?
- 47:02To be you. And that is enough.
- 47:06Anyways, I'm sorry. Oh man, that was a It took me a
- 47:12long time to write this today because I've been up since 2.
- 47:16Obviously I think you could tell.
- 47:19So that concludes my ramblings for today.
- 47:22Go be you, forget about the sizes, do your own thing, be the
- 47:29number one fan of your own show and be happy about it or be sad,
- 47:33whatever situational appropriate.
- 47:35And two weeks from now, I, I hope not to be up at 2:00 in the
- 47:40morning and maybe I'll make some more sense or start making
- 47:44sense. Anyways, I think about you guys
- 47:47all the time and I do pray for you guys all the time.
