- 0:01The sun is shining out a cloud in the sky. We wouldn't know because
- 0:07we're so happy inside. Some people on some skis, but we would rather
- 0:15sit on down and talk some movies. We're the evid Indoorsmen. Come listen
- 0:21to our show. We're the evident indoorsmen at home on the go. We're
- 0:26the avid Indoorsmen. We hope you love it, so come on in and
- 0:32stay. We'll do our best to make you smile. Were the indoors man?
- 0:41What is happening? I'm Rob Lundquist and I'm big, and we're the
- 0:47evid Indoorsmen. How every what? Hello? How are you sir? You
- 0:53know I'm doing great? Pal summer is poison by but all good things over
- 1:00here. Man, We're just we're doing the damn thing. I don't know.
- 1:03We sure are? How are you? We just we just had the
- 1:06fourth? We just had the fourth. I can't like I am at your
- 1:10time. I am fully having like what what happened to June right now?
- 1:15Like I don't even know what I did. I don't know what happened,
- 1:19but and I just made a bunch of plans for August, so I feel
- 1:23like it's going to be football season before we know it, before we know
- 1:26it for sure, kind of great in its own way. So did you
- 1:30guys get to watch the fireworks? I heard that it wasn't on the fourth
- 1:33because of rain. Yeah, I actually skipped both nights. I think they
- 1:38went, oh no, that our friends had some some neighbors that did some
- 1:42on the fourth that were actually really cool, and I watched part of those,
- 1:47and then I had to work the next day and I was like,
- 1:49a fireworks cool like, so I just kind of split. And then night
- 1:55before on the third, actually rode my bike to hang out with my brother
- 1:57and his family, so I was kind of like, oh, well,
- 2:01I'm going to ride home and I'll sort of just see fireworks going off around
- 2:06me. And that seemed kind of magical and it was fun. I did
- 2:08that, and I actually went for a loop around Como because I thought they
- 2:13might be doing some there, but they weren't, so everywhere I was they
- 2:19they moved them to the third, and then it was the surest did them
- 2:22on the fourth. So yeah, okay, yeah, how about you guys.
- 2:23Did you guys see some cool fireworks? We did a whole week up
- 2:28at Kelsey's folks Cabin. And it was magical and wonderful. We did,
- 2:32you know, it was a lot of good lake time. We fished and
- 2:37swam and boted, and the actual fourth it also got canceled up there.
- 2:44It got pushed to the fifth. Okay, they went the day after,
- 2:46nice and nice the day after, and it was good. It was pretty
- 2:51good. They had a pretty long break in between the normal part and then
- 2:55the finale, and so I kind of started getting every buddy ready to go
- 3:00back to where we sleep. And then the finale you were like, oh
- 3:04god, I thought, and I felt bad because, uh, because Penny
- 3:08was like outside when the finale was starting. He doesn't do well with that,
- 3:15right, Like, no, it's really freaked out. So the scariest
- 3:21part, right, we just got it right into where our bed was and
- 3:25she just shook for a while. I feel bad for on that on that
- 3:30day. I know. It's so tough for our our furry friends, isn't
- 3:32it. Yeah, you know, the speaking of our sorry, speaking of
- 3:38our furry friends. My in law's just got a black lab puppy. I
- 3:44mean, right now, puppy, lay puppy, the cutest thing you've air
- 3:52seen. So oh, that's just the best Charlie was completely obsessed and was
- 3:58just picking her up constantly. Oh, I bet what's her name? Her
- 4:03name is Rosie, little Rosie and she is just a door. Oh that's
- 4:11lovely. It's been a little bit now, right, since they've had a
- 4:14puppy again, Yes, since Scout. No, they had another one after
- 4:18Scout. Yeah, I guess that right. They had just picked up he
- 4:23was like already pretty old. Yeah, he was like a rescue or something,
- 4:27right, yeah, yeah, yeah. But for the people who follow
- 4:30us, they can see this picture of a puppy. Dude, you look
- 4:35so much like Charlie in that picture too. You're both so cute. Well
- 4:40you look he looks like, but you're so cute. You wonder walking into
- 4:48the house and immediately just picking up that dog. It was the cutest thing.
- 4:53Just the biggest pause ever too. She's going to be a monster.
- 4:57Yeah, how did Penny feel? It was Penny cool. Penny hated her
- 5:01so much so like didn't bite her or anything. She Rosie wanted to come
- 5:09up with, and she just could not have any time for her. That's
- 5:14so funny. She has gotten to be a grumpy dog when it comes to
- 5:18other dogs. She has wants nothing to do with it. Just stand away
- 5:23from me. I'm a grumpy old lady now alone. It's hilarious. So
- 5:28and a lot of other people had dogs too. It was a dog filled
- 5:31week. It was a lot of stuff. That's awesome, dude. Well
- 5:34but good for them. That's so fun. It was a good time and
- 5:39good for the kids. I'm sure they freaking I love that. I love
- 5:42it. It was really fun, very cool man. Well, we should
- 5:46get into it. What was the last movie you watched? Yeah, I
- 5:48went to opposite of the Fourth of July and the crazy festivities. I watched
- 5:54A Quiet Place Day one. I'm going to talk about that too. Look
- 5:59at us so cute. This is the well, it's the third one sequentially,
- 6:05but a prequel obviously because it's Day one of the Quiet Place universe.
- 6:10Uh. This one, I wasn't sure how i'd feel because it's directed by
- 6:14someone else. It's directed by Michael Senorski, who I think helped write it
- 6:20John Krasinski. I don't think it's involved other than sort of the original writing
- 6:25credit and then producer and stuff. But it's got some great people in it.
- 6:28It's got Lupita and Jongo, who's amazing good. That Joseph Quinn guy
- 6:34from Stranger Things. I think it's going to be really good. He looked
- 6:39like he was like anywhere between thirty and fifty in this movie, which is
- 6:43interesting because I thought he was just gonna be super babyfaced. And then I
- 6:46really like that Alex wolfguy too. Yeah, I think quite a quite a
- 6:51few things. Yeah, he had. He was one of the few parts
- 6:55in Pig Yes, you know that. I loved that movie. Sa same
- 7:00he's yeah, and even had a real small part in Oppenheimer two, so
- 7:03he's he's getting around. I don't remember himim in Oppenheimer I mean a real
- 7:06small part. Yeah, yeah, that's cool. I liked this movie a
- 7:11lot. I was a little worried I wouldn't care as much about the characters,
- 7:15and early on I felt that way, but by the end, man,
- 7:18I was I was all in. I was super hooked by all that.
- 7:21I thought there was some great performances. Lupita is just a badass and
- 7:26a half like, she's so good dude, and our man Jaimon was in
- 7:30there too, Jaimen Huntsu. He I thought he was gonna have a larger
- 7:35part than what he ended up having. That is my biggest complaint of the
- 7:39whole thing too. I was like, oh, I sort of thought,
- 7:42and I actually watched. I watched the other two before, just to kind
- 7:46of refresh, and then I was like, oh, I didn't I didn't
- 7:49need to do that, which I guess I should have known. But yeah,
- 7:54he just wasn't in it very much. And I felt like they could
- 7:58have done a lot with him because we know he's in the second one,
- 8:01or just not included him at all, like I don't. I it kind
- 8:05of confused me why they even had him in at at all, like a
- 8:07little bit, but he was good when he was in it, and I
- 8:11thought overall the movie was really fun, a little bit more action y I
- 8:16think than the first two, but still a really cool story. I became
- 8:24like I buttoned up a couple in my own head. Plot thought like flaws
- 8:28that I thought of sure that I sort of came up with answers for that
- 8:33satisfied myself. So I really liked this universe, and I wonder if they're
- 8:37just going to keep making stuff like it's super interesting to keep watching him.
- 8:41Yeah me too, man, I really liked it. I had a good
- 8:43time. Yeah, same I've met the exact same take. You know.
- 8:48The other two were more like in rural areas, so it was kind of
- 8:52fun to see it more like in downtown New York. And I'm sure that
- 8:56the budget was a lot more just having to deal with all of the building
- 9:01mayhem and all the crazy Yeah. Yeah, but yeah, otherwise, I'm
- 9:09with you. I think the whole idea of having these monsters who who come
- 9:13after you when you make noise just it makes for great suspense. Yeah,
- 9:22the sound is so big in these movies, and yeah, I've really really
- 9:26enjoyed all three. This is probably number three on the list of three,
- 9:31but still really fun. Yeah, I think that's right, And I think,
- 9:37you know, it's one of those like I'm saying more about the other
- 9:39two than I am, kind of digging on this one exactly, Like,
- 9:41yeah, first two are awesome. I'm with you on that, but fun
- 9:46and fun to see. You know, we've been kind of kind of a
- 9:48bear spot for movies in the theater, I feel like lately, so it
- 9:52was just fun to see a nice summer flick and have a nice time.
- 9:56Agreed, What have you been streaming? So I streamed something and Rob,
- 10:03I absolutely loved it. I streamed Beverly Hills cop axel F. I haven't
- 10:09been able to watch it yet. That came out the day before the fourth
- 10:11right, Yes, and I I mean I axel like this movie axel ft.
- 10:18It was so so good. I loved everything about it. It has
- 10:22all the charm of the old ones, which I dearly loved. And I
- 10:26know you've said, I think you've said, like you really liked them too,
- 10:28right, Yeah. My biggest thing was I was so excited for the
- 10:31third one, and then when it came out, it was an expectation thing.
- 10:35The third one is not great. This is better than the third one.
- 10:37I think it's super super good. And it was fun. Man.
- 10:41We got to see like a bunch of the old players, some some like
- 10:46fun stuff, but there was new flavor to it. I really really liked
- 10:50it a lot. I had a great time. I have even already contemplated
- 10:54watching it again because I was like, man, that was fun, you
- 10:58know, like I really might get into that again. And it basically like
- 11:03is kind of the same thing we've seen as far as setup for the others,
- 11:07Like he's a cop, you know, he pushes envelopes and pisses some
- 11:11people off and then something draws him to Beverly Hills. In this one,
- 11:16it involves his daughter and a storyline with that, and it's it's fun man,
- 11:22I don't know. Cool, it's funny, there's action, it's it's
- 11:26a pretty good like action movie too. I've really liked it a lot.
- 11:30I had a great time. Well that is really fun to hear. I'm
- 11:33excited to watch it. I think you will enjoy it for sure. And
- 11:35it's on Netflix. I don't know if I said that, but the Netflix
- 11:39machine is where that released, So right stream it right now? Cool.
- 11:43Well, I'm gonna do this pod first, but then yeah, okay,
- 11:46we're gonna pause so ROB can watch the movie and then. But yes,
- 11:50so that's what I'm streaming. How about you bout it? I went over
- 11:54to Prime ooh and I started up season four of The Boys. Did Yeah,
- 12:01I've started season four? Two cool this show? So I've only gotten
- 12:07through the fourth episode. There's six episodes. I don't know if there's did
- 12:11they did they put them all out? I think? Okay? Cool?
- 12:16So currently there's six because I think we're recording it. Okay, So yeah,
- 12:20I finished four and it's back. It's as gruesome as ever. There
- 12:28are a couple new characters introduced, a woman named Firecracker who likes to start
- 12:31conspiracy theories and stuff, and the smartest person on the planet, sister Sage,
- 12:39who is helping Homelander with his image. She's an interesting, interesting character.
- 12:48But yeah, very fun, very over the top, gruesome, very
- 12:50inappropriate language, and I just find it so entertaining. Yeah, man,
- 12:56wait, so what happened in We talk about it later. Yeah, there's
- 13:01a specific scene I want to ask you about, but I think it might
- 13:03have been in season five, so never mind, forget it or episode five?
- 13:07Sorry? Episode what am I a season bo I'm a dumb I'm a
- 13:13dumb But I love Carl Urban so much. He really shines in this and
- 13:18that actor Anthony Starr as Homelander. He just and I feel like he's so
- 13:26good at Homelander that I'm wondering if he's going to have a hard time doing
- 13:31anything else. I've seen him and other stuff though, and he kind of
- 13:35blends in nicely cool, and I think he's been helped because he is not
- 13:41like he is in very good shape. Don't get me wrong, I'm not
- 13:43saying that, but I don't think he actually looks like Homelander is said to
- 13:48look like, So I think he'll have an easier time morphing out of that.
- 13:52I think may sure. But yeah, I hear you though. He's
- 13:56so good, dude, he's so good in that role. I give you
- 14:00my one caveat to this season. But his kid is driving me a little
- 14:05nuts with his voice. Sure, well, yeah, squeaking. It's just
- 14:11yeah, well, he went from like I feel like season three he was
- 14:13still like a kid kid, I agree, and now he's like teenager and
- 14:16it's not his fault, like we all went through it, but it's just
- 14:20every once in a while it's like so pronounced that it sounds fake, almost
- 14:26like he's trying, and I'm just like, dude, you gotta stop you
- 14:28kind of someone figure something out. But yeah, anyway, that's just funny.
- 14:33Pick nice. Yeah, it's fun. It's if you like The Boys.
- 14:37Season four is doing well. I feel like it hasn't had the the
- 14:43crazy shocking moment that it has in every season so far. Agreed. So
- 14:50I'm kind of I've just been like waiting every episode, just like, when
- 14:54are they going to completely gross me out? Because it's been like gnarally but
- 14:58not gnarly yet. I like, yeah, yeah, yeah, there's usually
- 15:03one one episode. How are they gonna one up at this year? So
- 15:07I don't there can't be much room for them to go anymore. But I'm
- 15:11sure they'll find a way. I'm sure they'll find a way. But yeah,
- 15:16well that's fun, man. What do you think should we do some

- 16:51and movie, so come on back for that. Once we play a bunch
- 16:53of games. It'll be super fun with special guests that I know you'll love
- 17:00for, So come on back for that. But we're here today to talk
- 17:04about a great film celebrating its thirtieth anniversary. That's correct. That seems impossible,
- 17:15but this is true, lies guys, and they have been clamoring for
- 17:21it. So without any further ado, let's introduce the people who have wanted
- 17:25to be on this podcast ever since we met them. Pretty much, it
- 17:27seems giving up once again for our buddy Benny Elledge and our other pal,
- 17:33Adam Renegade Wilson. What's up, fellas? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 17:44guys, see you guys after you. How are you dandy? You know,
- 17:51I'm I'm I'm Do you want to introduce us before I start talking?
- 17:56Or I'm sure everyone knows this is Benny elig Pal talking right now, high
- 18:00pal pals, and of course with us as always is. Yeah, Adam
- 18:07Redigade Wilson, high pal, I got a little dick. It's if you
- 18:17feel that way, and it's in the movie Good that it's a better around
- 18:23to thirty two thirty You guys, we are just so honored to be here
- 18:29on your last ever podcast? Are we thinking? We just assumed this,
- 18:37a film of this magnitude, would be the end? Correct defends it.
- 18:41We've been talking about it. Hard to follow up, that's for sure.
- 18:45I mean, when you get to the best film of all time, just
- 18:48what else can you do? Sarah feels like, you know, what else?
- 18:52What else are you going to do? After this? Yeah? Yeah,
- 18:55Well we're going to do a movie game night. It turns out.
- 18:56It turns out, but you what's happening with your mics? You has nothing?
- 19:02I was just meaning some adjustments. Okay, Sorry, we're looking a
- 19:06little on the little so okay. So you guys are going to continue the
- 19:12pot after this, which is great. So I guess it's just me and
- 19:15Renegade's last pot because to be honest, after this film, I don't think
- 19:19we have anything else you say about movies, correct, boy, I hope
- 19:25not, because we really seem to be your good luck charm. Because we
- 19:29hear you're waiting to hear back from a business to be named later football commercial
- 19:34for this year. Is that right? That's true to you? To those
- 19:37of you listening, you may not know this. I don't know if we
- 19:40were talking about it, but Hughes and Robbie seemed to me my acting good
- 19:42luck charm. It feels like every time I'm on the show, I've either
- 19:47booked some acting job or something cool as happened. So yes, in the
- 19:52running for a commercial like Final Final Running, I thought I was going to
- 19:56hear about it today just because this was happening tonight, So perhaps tomorrow,
- 20:03But I'm not even joking. Are my good luck on it? As we
- 20:07all know, when we watch football for eleven straight hours on a Sunday,
- 20:11you see the same commercials a lot, and you know, yes you do.
- 20:15I want to deeply hope you get on one of those patures in my
- 20:19life seems to fall apart every time I come on, so appreciate that.
- 20:26It's you know, the Seinfeld episode, right, someone wins the give and
- 20:32take of life, desperately want to be the winner. So hey, what
- 20:37are you gonna do? You know it's a risk we're willing to take,
- 20:45willing to take. That's great. I love that. Uh well, we're
- 20:52here to talk about this great film called True Lives, you guys, the
- 20:56thirtieth anniversary. Somehow, craziness. How long have me and Renegade here been
- 21:02begging for this moment every every time we've had you on every episode, Like
- 21:07I seriously think we've talked about it every time. We're like Joe Buck and
- 21:14Aikman, like when the Jaguars are playing the Dolphins, but we just keep
- 21:18talking about Aaron Rodgers for some reason, nothing nothing to do with anything,
- 21:26And somehow Aaron Rodgers has come up and that's that's how we are with with
- 21:30true Lives comes up. That's a perfect comparison. That really is any movie?
- 21:41Yeah, worst movies to bring up all the time, And to be
- 21:45honest, I want to talk about it immediately, So let's not waste any
- 21:48more time. Let's do it, Rob, Will you get it started with
- 21:51just a rough synopsis? Yeah, it might be rough here, let's try.
- 21:55Okay. Secretly a spy but thought by his family to be a dull
- 22:00salesman, Harry Tasker is tracking down nuclear missiles in the possession of Islamic jihattist
- 22:06Aziz. Harry's mission is complicated when he realizes his neglected wife, Helen his
- 22:11contemplating you look like a Helen is contemplating an affair with Simon, a used
- 22:17car salesman who claims he's a spy. One of these kidnaps Harry and Helen,
- 22:22the secret agent must save the world and patch up his marriage at the
- 22:26same time. Nice. Nicely done, nicely done. Thank you had some
- 22:32choices in there. I loved it. Jus you look like that's a good
- 22:40question anyway. Sorry, Yes, whenever I hear the word Helen, I
- 22:45think of that. That was what ninety six for that. Yeah, that
- 22:48sounds for me and the viewers. What is that? Tommy boy, it's
- 22:55chick you look like? Can you tell you why I suck? I love
- 23:03my little pat This is why we're talking. Yeah, you're naughty, you're
- 23:10very that's fair. Let's go to Rotten Tomatoes and hear about our naughty little
- 23:14reviews. Critics had this coming in and a rock solid seventy percent, really
- 23:18because I would have guessed like one hundred and forty. Yeah, if I
- 23:22was just a petsman fair, that's that would have doubled it. I'm going
- 23:26to assume this is just a clerical error, you know. I don't think
- 23:30it's right. Uh, that is really neat, But you know they're they're
- 23:36butt heads. I don't know audience members. I was really surprised by this
- 23:38one. Only seventy six, like so higher than critics, but not very
- 23:42in the eighties at least to the I agree with. I would have guessed
- 23:48eighties for both of those. Actually same. Yeah, but let's let's go
- 23:53into the most important thing, and that's what we think. It's time for
- 23:57our hot take. Hot take. Hot is that that's a hot take.
- 24:04That's a hot take burned. I'm gonna swim under the fire. Oh this
- 24:14film? Yeah, someone probably you look like a hell when a right,
- 24:26wait, what's happening? I will go first. I love this movie a
- 24:30ton. I watched this movie a lot as a kid, as a teen,
- 24:36as an adult, I've always come back to this film. I just
- 24:38think it's super fun and great. I think it like toes the line between
- 24:42pretty like fun action flick and also a spy film. But like there's comedy
- 24:49stuff in there. You know, We've got some like physical comedy as well
- 24:52as some some pithy lines from our friend mister Arnold, both Arnold's really U
- 25:00and Schwartzenegger. But I think it is a really fun mixture of a lot
- 25:04of things. It doesn't take itself too seriously, but it also like doesn't
- 25:10go into full farce mode either all the time, which I think is pretty
- 25:14fun. There's also some pretty sexy stuff that happens in it. Throughout the
- 25:18film. I learned some things about myself. Arnold never even really has a
- 25:26shirt. Yeah, but it's always rare to get rides. He should haveless.
- 25:37He should have that whole island scene. He should have just popped it
- 25:41off probably. I mean, you'll hear no arguments from me. I'm with
- 25:44you. I'm with you. It would have made the movie better. It's
- 25:47probably why it has seventy percent from critics. That's probably the reason. Good
- 25:49call. They're like, he kept his top on the whole time out.
- 25:55They call him tops. But anyway, I I I just deeply love this
- 26:00movie. I think it's fun. I think it holds up reasonably well everything
- 26:04except for basically the terrorist part. That's not like super well explained. You
- 26:11know, there's some some stereotype stuff that's happening there. But I don't know,
- 26:17what are you doing. It's a movie from right, I do think,
- 26:22like knowing what we know now, and this is not a pro terrorist
- 26:27movement, but it is a pro the definition of terrorist is very fluid,
- 26:32so like maybe the bad guys have a point. This could be one of
- 26:36those movies. I don't really think they never told us their point in this
- 26:38movie, so it's probably hard to distinguish. But I just thought that was
- 26:44funny, and yeah, overall, I just think this is like a it's
- 26:48a fun little like gobstopper of a movie. There's like different layers, different
- 26:53flavors that come throughout it, and it has one of my all time favorite
- 27:00obscure lines to reference that I will hold out for the quote later. But
- 27:06yeah, you'll have to start out the quote section because stay tuned, babies.
- 27:12But yeah, I don't. I don't actually think I have a hot
- 27:15take. So that's it. You really crushed that category, then, yeah,
- 27:22thank you. Take. I watched this one over and over and over
- 27:26as a kid and thought it was awesome. This one was nominated for an
- 27:32Oscar for Best Visual Effects, lost to Forrest Gump. Wow, yep that
- 27:38was and I guess I think I saw on the trivia. This is the
- 27:41first time James Cameron was up for Best Visual Effects and lost. It's the
- 27:45only time. Wow. Yeah, that's pretty cool. Jamie Lee Curtis won
- 27:49a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical for This Love It.
- 27:55It's pretty fun, written and directed by James Cameron, which I forget
- 28:00sometimes since it's not science fiction or in space or in the deep sea.
- 28:06Uh. This is a departure for him and I love it so much.
- 28:10I love the cast, thought the chemistry was great between everyone. I did
- 28:15not remember it being almost two and a half hours. It felt a little
- 28:18longer than I was expecting, Like I did it in two different chunks and
- 28:26was like, whoa, there's still like an hour left after like the story
- 28:30truth serum. Seeing there's still like another hour, I shot. Yeah,
- 28:33I mean it should be. It should be like Killers the Flower Moon.
- 28:41I'd rather watch this twice. Oh my god, same, I didn't even
- 28:48watch it. Yeah, but I think the visual effects and stunts hold up
- 28:53pretty well. Uh, some of the worst is like the green screen in
- 28:56the limo. What's being like this laid outside while they're in the interior of
- 29:03the limo? I see it like the worst. Sure, there is great
- 29:07c g I in this, and like pretty great stunts. The airplane looks
- 29:12fantastic. Yeah, still yeah, which is crazy into the okay, cool
- 29:18right, But I thought the plot was really fun, Like you were saying,
- 29:22mugs, I thought, you know, the board housewife wanting some adventure
- 29:26almost has an affair with a salesman pretending to be a spy when she's actually
- 29:32married to a spy pretending to be a salesman. Is very fun, very
- 29:37fun. But yeah, movies, it's it's a great time. I had
- 29:41a blast during the rewatch my hottest take. It's the most blatant use of
- 29:48a stunt man, and I'm not worrying about showing the stuntman's face that I've
- 29:53ever seen in a movie ever. It's their seven scenes where you just see
- 30:02the sun's face. From that, from that eighties to mid nineties point,
- 30:07we were in the in the phase of this is not the person. I
- 30:12mean, we just like we just we just know, move on, we
- 30:15face off together. I mean even by ninety seven they are still doing yeah
- 30:19where it's like right, they don't even try with this guy. But this
- 30:25one, man, it was so much from the very beginning, like going
- 30:30down the snowy mountain, just other dude, and so many shots it's just
- 30:36and this one has a straight up slow mo shot with the horse that's going
- 30:41through that was like okay, it's like wow, okay, yeah, but
- 30:45it's all over the film, like shot that one from behind, so we
- 30:51just on the back of his just the side of a face. It's crazy.
- 30:56So that's wow, that's my hottest take. I love that. That's
- 30:59a hot Yeah. I like you guys have loved this movie since the moment
- 31:11it came out. It was also an incredible cable movie because there wasn't really
- 31:15anything that needed to get cut out of it other than like a handful of
- 31:19lines. Like they could pretty much show this whole movie on cable, so
- 31:25we watched it all the time. My hot take takes, my first one
- 31:33is this is Arnold Schwarzenegger's absolute best acting performance. And I don't think it's
- 31:41close nice and I would say not even just for Arnold. I think this
- 31:48is just straight up a great job. I mean, of course, a
- 31:52little bit fur it's he's Arnold, we loved him. But I think this
- 31:57is far and away his best acting performance. He literally does. James Cameron
- 32:02has him doing everything he does well and executing it well. He's really funny,
- 32:09he's really charming. The act the action stuff is wonderful. Uh,
- 32:15He's all over the map in terms of just general emotion. I think it's
- 32:22the best movie you'd ever did by quite a bit. I think you could
- 32:25throw in maybe like a kindergarten cop. I think, you know, but
- 32:31I think without question, this is best acting performance. And my other tiny
- 32:37hot well, do you want to have you can add to this? Do
- 32:40we even do the dude category anymore? I mean, look, well,
- 32:45but Arnold was such a staple at this time. You know, this was
- 32:49this was him and him like passing stallone for kind of action hero. Obviously
- 32:55Bruce Willis was in there, but I mean he was like our our main
- 33:00action hero in Hollywood, don't you think at that time. I mean he
- 33:04was. He was the top of the list two right after T too,
- 33:09like he's crushing Wins and all this. You know, he's like doing it
- 33:14all. And this I think was the culmination of things like T two,
- 33:19Predator and then like Kindergarten Cop all coming together in one movie, playing a
- 33:25kind of a romantic lead, but a believable romantic lead, not like I'm
- 33:30running this girl around the jungle for some weird reason or whatever. And my
- 33:37other artist take just and we can talk about this more with James Cameron.
- 33:39Just is that this is so awesome. James Cameron, this is like what
- 33:45I think Michael Bay thinks he is kind of And as much as I love
- 33:52I do love Avatar and I thought Avatar two was cool, I'm a little
- 33:55bummed because I wish we would have gotten more of this. James Camp I
- 34:00hear that, and I think he's very talented, clearly and I you know,
- 34:05and obviously he sings himself into these huge projects, but man, I
- 34:08could have used and look, he's he's around, it's not like he's you
- 34:13know, maybe we'll get some down the road. Well dude, it's it
- 34:16looks like he's got at least three more, which is fine, you know
- 34:21whatever. I enjoy those two a point. But this is just so,
- 34:24this is like what I want. This is what I want in like a
- 34:28Michael Bay movie. This is like if Michael Bay and Christopher Nolan had a
- 34:31baby. I feel like it would be something like this son. So anyway,
- 34:36that's it gates take on like full spectacle rather than spectacle with fun plot
- 34:44stuff too right, I feel like, you know, it's interesting, hot
- 34:49takes. It's good I went after Benny because I will playoff was perfectly.
- 34:53Arnold Schwarzeryer does not need to be in this movie. No. What I
- 34:59mean by that is all of his films, like Benny disappointed, all his
- 35:01films. He was like they were on a vehicle for him, like think
- 35:06Commando, Predator and like he said, Kindergarten Cops, perfect one, where
- 35:10the whole farce is that it's artist Saursayer as a kindergarten teacher. Where is
- 35:15this? And he's playing a covert spy, international spy, which I would
- 35:20argue he would be terrible at. I mean, you want to be you
- 35:24want to be slitable as a spy, Like when you walk in the room,
- 35:29you don't want anyone to remember you, and like look at an opening
- 35:32and see and he just walks in. Everyone notices him. He's getting all
- 35:35these like one liners. He's just absolutely Jack. He's just Jack. He's
- 35:39tangling out there like every single person. He's chatting with every caterer. Everybody
- 35:45looks at his wife is never like you're a salesman, but you are work
- 35:50out there like a bench, like a bench next to her exercise. But
- 35:55that is true. They never mentioned how Jackie is as a computer salesman.
- 36:00Yeah, but that but I've come back to is like that's kudos to James
- 36:05Cameron for recognizing that he could pull this off, and for Arnold to recognize
- 36:10that he also could pull it off, because like he we all know we
- 36:13could do the action, but to have that kind of charisma to pull off
- 36:17a film like this, it's quite remarkable. And uh uh yeah, basically
- 36:25I was going to give the Dude to James Cameron for the casting of this
- 36:30film. I'm not doing it, but I'm just using it here as like,
- 36:37I think this is one of the most beautifully cast films all around.
- 36:42Yeah, in very weird ways. And well and to your point, we'll
- 36:46get into it more like a lot of people could have been in this movie.
- 36:51It's still probably have been a cool movie. Like now nowadays it's Tom
- 36:54Cruise is Ethan Hunt is essentially this part, like you don't need a big
- 37:00jacked Arnold to play this spy and he, like said, he crushes it,
- 37:06and you could argue you don't even want that. To your point,
- 37:09I'm saying it should. When someone's trying to blend into a party, you
- 37:14probably don't want former mister Universe, whose whose Gucci tucks is bursting at the
- 37:19seams strolling around. Yeah, but ayeah, to that point, I'm with
- 37:24Benny. I think this is his best acting performance all around, hands down,
- 37:30And I honestly don't think it's close. I don't really hot take.
- 37:34It's hot hot take, and it really just brings us right into the dude,
- 37:38which let's do it, the dude, the dude. I'm the dude.
- 37:45So that's what you call me, you know that, or his dude
- 37:51or duder or you know, eldudo reno. If you're not into the whole
- 37:54brevity thing, Benny, why don't you go first? You can? Did
- 37:59I think? I mean I did, But honestly, I actually I gotta.
- 38:05I think I need to zag here and go Jamie Lee Curtis. I
- 38:10really think it's just as much, inarguably more her movie. I mean,
- 38:17she, you know, she is the one going through it. I know
- 38:22he's the one with the secret, but she's like really going through it,
- 38:25and she's the one who discovers all this and has to and has to totally.
- 38:31I mean, if we're talking about character arcs in the movie, I
- 38:36mean hers is massive, and she does everything in this movie. She plays
- 38:45mousey, nerdy housewife, she plays exciting, I'm kind of having an affair.
- 38:52Then the dance sequence obviously is incredible, and then which which one is
- 38:58that there's all get into it, Robbie. There's there's a moment she does
- 39:01like a little sort of like a gig situation your underpants, and then uh,
- 39:07I just think she like wildly deserved golden globe win. We're gonna have
- 39:16to look up. Maybe you wrote down who she be actually forgot the look
- 39:21that we should look it up. But I truly think this is a wonderful
- 39:27acting performance by her. And she's always been a great actor, and certainly
- 39:30now I think we're all in her later years here, she's really blowing her
- 39:37minds. You guys, you guys watch the Oh yeah, and I mean,
- 39:45I mean we thought last season's episode couldn't be topped, and then she
- 39:51rolls in this season and just does it again. I haven't. I haven't
- 39:54watched this. Oh no, how many do they have? I know they're
- 40:00all they put them all out. Oh man, that's all right. But
- 40:12yeah, I I honestly have to give it to her because I really,
- 40:15as much as I do believe it I said about Arnold like she, I
- 40:20don't know how many people could have pulled it off as well as she did,
- 40:23both both side, Like from the beginning to them from Mousey Housewife Too,
- 40:30we barely notice to hanging out of the helicopter and being hilarious in between
- 40:37and sexy and pissed off and just going through it. I mean, I
- 40:45honestly like it's it's it's Oscar worthy to me, you know, and I
- 40:49know certainly back then they weren't recognizing this kind of stuff and they barely are
- 40:53now. But I really think it's, you know, again, Arnold is
- 41:00incredible, but I still think it's a little bit for Arnold. It's incredible.
- 41:04She just straight up is incredible in this movie. So I'm going Jamie
- 41:08Lee's hot take, what do you got for your dude, Gabe? I
- 41:15went with Jamie Lee as well. Nice. I just think like it's this
- 41:21movie is kind of a marriage story at its core, and I kind of
- 41:24like forgot about that until I watched it three times the last three days.
- 41:29Like the whole story really, like like you said in this hot take,
- 41:32like we don't even really know what the terrorists demandons or plots are, Like
- 41:37yeah, the marriage story is what drives this entire thing totally. And yet
- 41:43to pull off what she does, like she gets like it's like I said,
- 41:46it's not like a this isn't an Arnold film, Like she gets her
- 41:50great little scenes and to pull off like what she does with like nerdy sexy
- 41:54like I always think of, you know, Robbie missed the scene with the
- 42:00ft is, but like the scene leading up to watch her. I shouldn't
- 42:05repeat, but like like the scene leading up to that, but she's Robbie
- 42:10Kelsey will understand if you watch some things and you know, you know before
- 42:20she actually she pre watches it and then gives him the times he has to
- 42:22skip over. Actually, well, I wasn't gonna mention this, but it's
- 42:27kept up. My mom would like, let us watch us. I was
- 42:30the youngest, so I was probably ten or eleven, and we'd watch this.
- 42:34But all these like killings and guns and all like she didn't care about.
- 42:38But the one thing it is she maybe cover my eyes during the strip
- 42:43teas. That's so great. And interestingly we were just talking about this before
- 42:46the pod. My mom, I remember watching this. She was My parents
- 42:52were super cool, like Robbie's parents too, that we watched everything. Uh
- 42:57my mo, I remember specifically saying, and we can talk about this in
- 43:00scenes, but I would know if that was your dad kissing me. Oh
- 43:05yeah, like immediately I thought we'll get into that. We'll get into that
- 43:09and scenes. But yeah, that's good. Yeah, I mean the last
- 43:14like just was like the scene leading up to that where you know, I
- 43:19tell her to dress sexy and she comes up from this, Yes, ridiculous
- 43:23drinks of these huge shoulders, like the I just got does she still have
- 43:30the glass that? I can't remember what? Anyways, so then she noticed
- 43:31stuff in the mirror and then she transforms and like to be able to pull
- 43:37that off bull sides, I mean it's incredible. And also the interrogation room
- 43:42scene, Yeah, she goes on a journey, that great monologue. Yeah,
- 43:47yeah, she was great. Love that. Yeah. Between this and
- 43:52Trading Places, she relaxed, turn up the big boy, cool it down.
- 44:04But yeah, before this, like we knew that she was funny from
- 44:07Trading Places, we knew she was sexy from from those movies well Fish called
- 44:13Wanda as well. We hadn't hadn't really seen her do this kind of action
- 44:19before. Oh yeah, for sure, I was gonna say it was.
- 44:22This was after my Yeah, Michael would have been there. You're right,
- 44:29No, I mean mm hmm, So yeah, I would be fine giving
- 44:34it to her. I was going to give the dude to Arnold stuntman that
- 44:37we got to see so much in this movie. He was he was doing
- 44:45some really cool stuff. We got to see him doing it all the time.
- 44:51Oh boy, But no, I'd be I'd be happy to give the
- 44:54the Dude to Jamie Lee Curtis as Helen Tasker. Yeah, I feel the
- 45:01same. I just went real quick. I looked up the Golden Globes from
- 45:05that year, and she'd beat Annie McDowell in Four Winnings in a Funeral,
- 45:08Emma Thompson and Arnold's actual best role that he's ever played, Junior in Speechless.
- 45:15Yeah. That was the same year Geene Davis and something called Speechless.
- 45:20I don't know that one, and then Shirley McLain in Guarding Tests, which
- 45:24I also don't Yeah. So I mean, Emma Thompson Junior is a fabulous
- 45:34film. I all agree, but I have no problem giving it to Jamie
- 45:39Lee Curtis. As I've said, she taught me things about myself, but
- 45:46like what what things? Well, it was definitely little. But I'll just
- 45:59shout out to Arnold. I think both of them probably deserved the award,
- 46:01to be honest, but just to talk about someone else, Arnold is great
- 46:06in this. I think he's a, like I said earlier, a nice
- 46:07mixture and like you guys have said, a nice mixture of both like funny,
- 46:13super suave and cool obviously like a physical force to be reckoned with,
- 46:19you know, in this movie and just like a perfect kind of like soldier
- 46:23spy guy who just knows a lot of things. He can be charming,
- 46:28he can speak a bunch of different languages. He's smart, but also perfect
- 46:35Arabic perfect. We know that it was in the suit. I loved that
- 46:44good. To Gate's point, I do think, like shout out to James
- 46:47Cameron, like like, yeah, I do think this is direction, because
- 46:54you know, James Cameron had done Terminator with him and Terminator two, but
- 46:58that was so specific and you know that's him being a literal robot, and
- 47:05this is yeah, I don't know this. We would have thought he could
- 47:07be like swabed, right, James Cameron being a good director and being like,
- 47:14look, man, I know you can do all this stuff, so
- 47:17like let me help you harness all the good things you can do and do.
- 47:22And he does, like he's wonderful, and I think it's all I
- 47:27feel like this way. Maybe I'm alone, but these really giant dudes,
- 47:31it's hard to like see them as a love interest all the time, you
- 47:36know, like like the Rock right, like he's never really had great chemistry
- 47:40with any of his ladies. He's a good like comedic chemistry or acting chemistry,
- 47:45but not like tension. And I felt like Jamie Lee Curtis and him
- 47:50had that in this like it was believable that they loved each other, and
- 47:52you know, also believable they had trouble and you know, all these things.
- 47:55But yeah, I thought it was great. There's a fun little story
- 48:00before we move on. I think it's in the trivia Robbie might now,
- 48:04but I literally watched the interview with her last night where in Arnold's contract it
- 48:08was he was going to be the top builds. Arnold was saying true lies
- 48:14and then go on to her and then the rest of the cast, and
- 48:17and after screaming the film, James Cameron went to Arnold and like asked him,
- 48:23like, should we like we should add her before and he instantly was
- 48:28like yeah, And they called her up and we're like, it's Arnold Swartz
- 48:32and Jamie Lee Curtis true lies, because that's how like important her role is
- 48:37and how like how much it is to the film. Like that's like a
- 48:43negotiating like a thing people negotiate for right first building, especially back then,
- 48:50it used to be like in people's contract like I'm going to be top build?
- 48:54Has been like fights over it in the past, or Who's going to
- 48:57be top built? Especially when it's like two males obviously. Sure, I'm
- 49:00just gonna say. The ninety five Best Actress Academy Award group is Susan Sarandon
- 49:07for The Client, which great movie? Client, Miranda Richardson, Tom and
- 49:14Viv I don't know, Jessica lang One for Blue Sky Blue, Yeah,
- 49:22fine, Ryder Little Women, and Jody Foster for Nell Like, I'm sorry
- 49:30either of them can go for Jamie Lee does more in this movie than anyone
- 49:37does in Little Women, No Offense, take it Easy. I don't know,
- 49:45it's I really liked the New One though, and Jody Foster and Nell,
- 49:49I mean, I actually never saw a single movie you just said for
- 49:53that. Yeah, well you never saw the Client Client, But Jamie easily
- 50:06could have replaced basically anyone else. Yes for this in my opinion, totally
- 50:13from from an acting stead, I love it right, ready to get on
- 50:19the show's Yeah, let's go. Let's let's go for their supporting characters.
- 50:24Let's do the GUCCI Award. Who wants to start? I have a hard
- 50:35opinion it's Tom Arnold and it's not close. He's fantastic in this movie.
- 50:42I think he's super funny. He's like the he's the man at the computer
- 50:45but also the man in the van in this movie, and I I just
- 50:51think he's wonderful. He and Arnold have fantastic chemistry the whole time. I
- 50:55totally believe that they are pals and like also co workers that have been working
- 51:00together for a long time. I love Tom Arnold in this movie, and
- 51:07he has my favorite line which I'm just gonna jump in. You're not wrong,
- 51:15dudes, it is Tom right, He's so good and we can talk
- 51:21about how this even came about with Tom Arnold. I mean now, the
- 51:25times the time, we should just talk about it before he is the clear
- 51:29winner. This is almost one of those where it's like we almost see to
- 51:31just make up a separate award, and maybe you guys should just call it
- 51:35the Paxton Award because when someone comes in with three scenes and hits thirty home
- 51:40runs, you know, but the Tucher could almost be the paston in this
- 51:49It is Tom and I'll let I'll let Gate expound him because you know,
- 51:55Tom Arnold was not the studio's favorite choice. Yeah, which is surprising.
- 52:01I mean yeah, I mean uh, Basically, the studio did not want
- 52:06Tom Arnold and Cameron fought for him, which we still don't. We were
- 52:10looking at some of the other castings earlier give him a little. The short
- 52:14list with was Dan Ackroyd, Bill Murray, Gutenberg, and John Goodman,
- 52:22which which are our thing was basically Ackroyd, I don't. We don't think
- 52:27could handle the swearing and maybe we just probably couldn't do it. Bill Murray
- 52:31funny, but his own brand of funny. That wouldn't have fit in the
- 52:36movie, and it wouldn't have been the thing we were saying. Actually,
- 52:39John Goodman would have been wonderful, it would have been right. And then
- 52:45you know Gutenberg, sure he was kind of hot, then he would have
- 52:47been fine. But but Arnold. Yeah, but basically, like Tom Arnold
- 52:52had a bunch of going on. He was divorcing Rose and Bar at the
- 52:55time, and it was well known with his drug use and everything. And
- 53:01the Cameron straight up like said he was gonna take it to another studio if
- 53:06they didn't hire him, Like yeah, it's kind of it's almost like ludicrous,
- 53:10how fary wet. It's kind of like Spielberg fighting for uh uh size
- 53:15more in uh that they had to have someone following him around to make sure,
- 53:22like make sure he wasn't just everything but su see but Tom Arnold thing
- 53:29like it's it is wild. It's almost more like how Fabril like just was
- 53:34like no downy for Iron Man and I will not but didn't they say like
- 53:38they did the test with Tom Arnold and Arnold Schwarzenegger and they were just like
- 53:43the chemistry was just immediate, so they were just like and you can see
- 53:46it. It's like, as you said, like every time they're on screen,
- 53:50they're incredible together and everything and apparently still passing everything everything he doesn't all
- 53:57his which I'm sure just little improvs are so appropriate for the movie. He's
- 54:01never like trying to do too much. He's really good. It's weird,
- 54:07Like it's one of those where I'm like why what, Like I know he
- 54:09had a lot of problems, but like, why weren't you in more movies?
- 54:14Yeah? It's I will say the top note on here or feed you
- 54:19guys a little bit? I said, is this the best two way Tucci
- 54:22of all time? Man? You guys obviously clear think Arnold's the clear favorite,
- 54:29but I mean Pason just he might be the best scumbag. It's it's
- 54:37it's more. It's more because he's almost not even a Tucci. He's like
- 54:40he has a three scenes and he's he's almost it's almost like an extended cameo.
- 54:45Like everything he says offensive, every single thing he said, and incredible,
- 54:52dude, you came out the gate with like my favorite quote of the
- 54:54whole. I mean, it's so funny, dude, I mean, and
- 55:00he is just awful. I'm trying to think of bigger scumbags. I'm thinking
- 55:04of like James Woods and Casino is really awful. I mean, there's a
- 55:09bunch, but god, he's such a but also hilarious, which is which
- 55:16incredibly hard to pull off. Like if you see ass like a twelve year
- 55:21old boy, which is abrosign, which is which I heard something about buttermilk
- 55:34and you know, and you stand up and beg But but I mean,
- 55:40at least that makes sense that ass like are doing that cool offensive lines.
- 55:50But that is one of the greatest screen time to effectiveness ratios I've ever seen.
- 55:58I mean, what does he got like fifteen in it. I mean
- 56:00yeah, maybe, I mean so I can't argue it's so great. It's
- 56:07just it's just it's more crazy for Tom Arnold because we saw Bill Paxton do
- 56:13this, maybe not this creep this we even kind of did it like Alien
- 56:17two and stuff, but Aliens. Yeah, he'd done a lot of stuff.
- 56:21Yeah, you know, and like even back to like Weird Science,
- 56:23he was that trashy thing. But Tomnold never. I can't think of anything
- 56:31else Tom Marnold ever did where he where. I was just like, this
- 56:35dude's a great act. His number two work for is pretty great. Yea,
- 56:45Who's boss? Who's now? It's we don't we can't skip that,
- 56:52we can Yeah, I honestly I almost picked him for the dude because he
- 56:57was so great in this movie. It's just again back to James Cameron,
- 57:01like, how did you how did you know this? How did you get
- 57:06this just performance out of this person that we had never seen do this?
- 57:10Knocked it out of the park. It's really sure. I love agreed.
- 57:16Uh yeah, what other runners up you got? Rob? All of these
- 57:22people were for sure the ones I would have picked. And then it was
- 57:25fun seeing Tia career as as Juno Skinner shen. Yeah, yeah, it's
- 57:35funny, Like what I mean, Wayne's world was so huge, and she
- 57:37was good and then wayneswold too, and then this and then disappeared. That
- 57:43is kind of about all. I said. She's not a bad she's like
- 57:45a bad actor, and I mean she's not amazing, but I mean she
- 57:51was in Lilo and Stitch, right, so that was like a big deal.
- 57:54I didn't know, very big. But I think she's the older sister's
- 57:59voice. I think, Okay, yeah, she was. She was finding
- 58:02this. Yeah, went on to having all right little career for a while.
- 58:08Yep, although, holy cow, did you read that in the trivia?
- 58:13Yeah, I actually there's a bunch of trivia about Yeah, there's a
- 58:17bunch of trivia about like, uh, basically sexual assault and stuff that happened
- 58:22with her. And if you want to read about that, go for it.
- 58:24But it's a bummer. And she's like, yeah, well she was
- 58:31and it was like the stunt coordinator and then she got hurt, you know,
- 58:37like by accident later and she says it wasn't an accident and like it's
- 58:42yucky. That whole thing is terrible, super yucky. Yeah, there was
- 58:47also Charlton Heston pirate Charlton Heston totally. I remember when I watched it with
- 59:00my folks and they were like, what are you sure? Oh yeah,
- 59:07you damned dirty. Yeah. They were very excited so random clearly Nick Fury
- 59:15in that scene that this is why you can't trust right through, can't trust
- 59:22trivia because I heard that. But then I also heard that he showed up
- 59:27with pink eye, but I didn't believe that that's awfud. He had muzzle
- 59:37burned in his eye from shooting white rhino in Africa as soon as n r
- 59:42A buddies were up hunting and dangered wildlife. Think what I think? Anywhere
- 59:51he wants just farting on pillows, wink, he gets it in his ear
- 59:59sometimes, just don't ask how yeah, why another? Well, actually I'm
- 1:00:04gonna say huge to your Nick Fury thing. You know, Nick Fury in
- 1:00:07the comics was white for decades and then I believe it was around that time
- 1:00:15they changed him to a black man, and he was straight up based on
- 1:00:21Samuel Jackson, and I read Marble like stan Lee, and people were like,
- 1:00:27okay, just so you know, like this is based on you.
- 1:00:30Are you cool with that and Sam Jackson. This is just what I read.
- 1:00:35I don't know how true is. Sam Jackson was like, if you
- 1:00:37ever make movies, just let me play it and it's all good. If
- 1:00:42that's true. He made the rights, made a few. Yeah, he's
- 1:00:47done okay for himself. Isn't he like the one who's been in the most
- 1:00:52like the most highest grossing films of all time or something? Probably I think
- 1:00:58what's his name, Ratzenberger, because all that fight back and forth, probably
- 1:01:02for it in every pixel, technic, every pixel. There's another actor in
- 1:01:12this that I always loved from this movie and the other guy in the van
- 1:01:15by Grant Hesling. Yeah, he pops up in different things. But like
- 1:01:21one of the last times I really remember seeing him was on stage winning an
- 1:01:24Oscar because he was one of the producers of Argo when it won Best I
- 1:01:30remember being shocked by that. It was like the dude from True Eyes.
- 1:01:34Yeah, that was so cool. Fast again you mean the dude from Congo
- 1:01:40or Coo. Yeah, yeah, look his stuff. He's really gotten into
- 1:01:46directing and producing and stuff. But he must be like really close buddies with
- 1:01:52George Clooney because he's on like every single Clooney flick as a producer. Maybe
- 1:01:58he's just literally part of his production. Could be. You know that's Paxton's
- 1:02:04in all of James Cameron's. They were like buddies before. Oh yeah,
- 1:02:07that's right. I think they were like on set carpenters together, but for
- 1:02:12either on famous and what do you think about he's in like almost all of
- 1:02:15his Jerald Yeah, yeah, super cool. Crazy. There's one other movie
- 1:02:22that that dude was in around this time. It doesn't you said Congo that
- 1:02:29was like right after this. Yeah. I think that was like ninety six.
- 1:02:35It doesn't matter. I was just but yes, you're right. He
- 1:02:37is really good. Yeah, yeah, he's fun. I liked it.
- 1:02:42And the bad guy, I mean the guy yeah, Art Malick. So
- 1:02:46what was the deal with the eighties into the nineties, Like it didn't matter
- 1:02:51how bald you were going, like you were growing that out. Yeah we
- 1:02:54were. We were growing the up for it back here. It didn't matter
- 1:02:59if there was business and front or nothing in the front. It was party
- 1:03:01in the in the rear, like we're mulleting it up. Relax, hair
- 1:03:08hair. It is funny though, he's just got the party. I feel
- 1:03:13like so many people had that back then, like however, bald, they
- 1:03:15were going, we're still just letting it, letting it ride in the back.
- 1:03:19That guy is really good. A lot of forehead, a lot of
- 1:03:23forehead. Although he's one of those like a sixteen, he's one of those
- 1:03:27actors like the guy I wish I need to name the guy in like Training
- 1:03:30Day who's like the lead gangster who has ethan hawk in the in the the
- 1:03:36guy who has ethan hawk in the bathtub Den and and I found out later
- 1:03:42on he's like new from New Zealand. Really, he's just one of those
- 1:03:46dudes. He only played like terrorists or Hispanic gangsters or sure, you know,
- 1:03:52he just was sort of ethnically ambigu. I always wonder these guys in
- 1:03:55the eighties and nineties, I'm like, what was their actual ethnicity, because
- 1:04:00yeah, you know, he's playing this ge hottest terrorist, but you know
- 1:04:04he might be from Australias that he was like he's born in Pakistan. But
- 1:04:11I think he was also like, uh it was like raising London too,
- 1:04:15so as accent as well, right, but he is very He was great,
- 1:04:23even even after he shoots the bazoos and goes yes, yeah, it
- 1:04:29was still the nineties, will give him. Yeah, no doubt, no
- 1:04:32doubt that was That was kind of everybody. I oh, we also know
- 1:04:38one of them about my acting teacher from the University of Minnesota, Dulu the
- 1:04:44tom isbel in the film For all of you kids out there listening, he
- 1:04:49plays the reporter at the end and they're in the building. And uh,
- 1:04:56I remember talking to him about this in college. We talked about it.
- 1:05:00Uh, did you recognize him when you first saw him from True Lives?
- 1:05:06No? No, no, I didn't recognize him, even though I had
- 1:05:09seen the movie a million but I remember he Uh a quick side story.
- 1:05:15He So he was an actor in l a you know, obviously in the
- 1:05:17eighties working it was and he he was just I feel bad for him because
- 1:05:23he was such a great teacher. But he was a great actor too.
- 1:05:26We saw him act. It was literally down to him and Bob Saget for
- 1:05:30Full House. Yeah, wow, it was down to him and Carrie Elwis
- 1:05:38for Princess Bride. Oh he hit that. And so he had a lot
- 1:05:46of stories. Isn't he in Uh? Is he in The Deer Hunter?
- 1:05:53He's in jack Knife jack Knife. Yeah, it's very deer Hunter asked,
- 1:06:00another closed Vietnam movie yet. But he's also in the ABYSS, but the
- 1:06:05director's cut, which is the only way you should ever watch the ABYSS,
- 1:06:12which I believe James Cameron is putting out like a new four K version this
- 1:06:15coming year or something. So do you think he put him in true lies
- 1:06:20as sorry you got cut out of the Abyss? Actually I kind of do.
- 1:06:26Actually, yes, I this last year was in a Steven Soderberg film
- 1:06:31because my scene got my scenes got cut out of Full Circle on HbA and
- 1:06:39I didn't even have to audition. He just called me in to do like
- 1:06:42a scene, so they cut that too. But yeah, we don't know
- 1:06:47that yet. We haven't seen that. Its so yes, I honestly Betty
- 1:06:51probably didn't, but I know James Cameron was pissed about. That was the
- 1:06:56whole thing, because I was still when Cameron was getting started, so I
- 1:07:00don't think he had lost He didn't have the power at that point. And
- 1:07:01whatever. Those of you who know the movie are going to go watch it.
- 1:07:05He's the reporter towards the end of the movie when they're in the construction
- 1:07:12site building. He's a guy asked what key he says, what key,
- 1:07:16key, And then when your boy who you're just talking about, takes the
- 1:07:20gun out of the camera and shoots everyone, they go and tom Isbel's on
- 1:07:27his knees and he goes, holy improvised, improvised into the film. Nice.
- 1:07:36I mean that's a very real response, That's what I would say.
- 1:07:40And clearly old Jimmy Cameron thought it was real. He's like, I love
- 1:07:45it. Keep it so. Yeah, a little Minnesota love there for for
- 1:07:51the real Tucci of the film. Yeah, reporter, Hell, yeah,
- 1:07:57that's fantastic. Nice. Well, let's move on and let's talk about her
- 1:08:01favorite scene. Ye, pick the dingus. So I think it's quite simple,
- 1:08:09really ingus ingus. I could talk about my dingas all night long.
- 1:08:13Annie, what's your favorite scene in this film? Man, this is hard.
- 1:08:18It's impossible. It's almost like you got to break it into action scene
- 1:08:24versus like acting scene. Okay, you know, I mean, I mean,
- 1:08:33okay, I mean. Look, one of my favorite moments of film,
- 1:08:41and I literally get emotional when I watch it is Jamie Lee Curtis hanging
- 1:08:45from the helicopter. Just the lead up to that moment and that and me
- 1:08:53and Gate have known this for years, but apparently like she obviously was like
- 1:08:58I don't know if I want to hang from a helicopter. Her and James
- 1:09:00Cameron's like, look, if you do it, I will operate the camera.
- 1:09:05I will shoot it. That's pretty cool, you know, which I
- 1:09:10think is very awesome. And I don't know, I like legit and emotional
- 1:09:15in that moment because I just think it's awesome. Sometimes I get emotional when
- 1:09:19movies are just so cool and I'm like, this is just so awesome.
- 1:09:25What's happening is so awesome. Hype tears, hype tears tears. I've needed
- 1:09:31I've needed a term to put to that for many many years. I get
- 1:09:35hype tears all the time in movies. The same is like not it's not
- 1:09:42even necessarily about the content, it's just about like, what's happening. She
- 1:09:46was really dangling from the helicopter. That is her close up shot of her.
- 1:09:51Yeah, yeah, yeah, I did not know. The wide shot.
- 1:09:55The wide shot and the limo falls is a stunt. The wide shots
- 1:09:58stunt though, but they actually really did that too though with the helicopter it's
- 1:10:04a it's a real stunt. But yeah, she's like on a wire,
- 1:10:10hanging from the helicopter. But there's like a picture of James Cameron standing over
- 1:10:15the ledge of the helicopter with the camera shooting down there. It's incredible wild
- 1:10:21and I just again, that's one of those things where I'm like, that's
- 1:10:24so cool. He was like, look, this will be epic. I
- 1:10:29will shoot it. I will be right there with you. Let's just do
- 1:10:32it. I'm not just putting you in danger. You know. I think
- 1:10:35this is worth it. And you know, so that's what I mean as
- 1:10:40far as an action scene goes. You know, I think her. I
- 1:10:46think her scene in the in the interrogation room is really wonderful acting. I
- 1:10:51love that scene. I mean, there's so many I don't want to take
- 1:10:55them all. You guys Gate, what do you got buddy? Uh,
- 1:11:00let's see. Uh. I mean, I was gonna go with like the
- 1:11:04full bridge scene start to finish the sequence. The sequence, I mean,
- 1:11:10it's what seven or eight minutes long, but it's it's incredible. And I
- 1:11:14was telling Benny earlier, I was watching this YouTube video last night, which
- 1:11:18I recommend anyone goes check out. Like they basically Cameron blends everything where he
- 1:11:25does reel with like the squibs the machine guns, Like that's all real as
- 1:11:30squibs into the water onto the truck passing. Then like the you know,
- 1:11:34the missiles are obviously CGI, so it's just like enhancing that. And then
- 1:11:39like the bridge explosion is all miniature that they built and brought from La to
- 1:11:45Florida and put it in the water. I mean it's not really miniature.
- 1:11:48It's like ten feet high and yeah, yeah right. And the crazy thing
- 1:11:54is the truck they built, Like this miniature truck they can go across it,
- 1:11:58and you know, it's like all the is coming and blowing it up,
- 1:12:00and the truck is literally triggering all the explosions on the bridge so that
- 1:12:06I could land perfectly onto the bridge after it flips over. It's just incredible
- 1:12:13filmmaking from camera, like and you know, the whole time, we can
- 1:12:16get all these real harrier jets and helicopters flying over the limbos going. At
- 1:12:23one point, Arnold stumped double the dude. I mean, but he's like
- 1:12:29his hands like two inches off the ground. Is he's hanging from the helicopter
- 1:12:31over the bridge. I mean for real, Yeah, it's incredible. Also,
- 1:12:35it was just that magical time you know where we just started getting kind
- 1:12:40of cgi yes, and he wasn't overusing it, so it was like you
- 1:12:45watch it now and you honestly can't tell. Like he told me that today
- 1:12:47and I was like, kind that was a miniature. It looks like miss
- 1:12:53miss miss boom right, and then hits it and it's so really it's like
- 1:12:57the missile that comes flying at the Harrier, you know. I mean,
- 1:13:00it's like fine and you know what happened really looks good. Still, Yeah,
- 1:13:06agreed, I will give one quick small scene though. I love Phil
- 1:13:11Paxton on the They have My Lege, Dude, it's so funny scene,
- 1:13:17so funny. Agreed like that, So I have that one. I have
- 1:13:26that one. It's probably number one, and my runner up is the Truth
- 1:13:32here I'm seeing. I love that scene too. I love that you've never
- 1:13:40seen Arnold do. Yeah, he's like looking real drunk. He's very honest,
- 1:13:47explains exactly al he's going to kill these guys. I love that.
- 1:13:51That's so good. That's a good one. I love when she realized like
- 1:13:57that genius asked, have you ever killed anyone bad? Yeah? So serious?
- 1:14:06That's so great scene. Uh, well, if we're if we're talking
- 1:14:12about a scene that affected my dingus. I'm gonna say the dancing scene.
- 1:14:17For obvious reasons, the scene was very sexy. I saw it a lot.
- 1:14:29I will say I yes, that scene is very sexy, one hundred
- 1:14:31percent. I'm with you. Rop like it's super funny. It's also like
- 1:14:36kind I know, it's she's there under deceitful means right, like whatever,
- 1:14:41but it's kind of empowering for her as a character as well, Like Arnold
- 1:14:45is funny when he like drops the recorder and it's a funny scene and it's
- 1:14:49pretty good and she like you know, hammers him with the phone and all
- 1:14:55that stuff, like kicks him and stuff. I think that scene is actually
- 1:14:58pretty great. And I also love when the guys come in to take them
- 1:15:02and she's like, Harry, I'm taking care of you know, like like
- 1:15:09shut up, and he's doing you know, it's just the opposite of Billy
- 1:15:14taken earlier. Yes, exactly exact take no, man, that's a really
- 1:15:20great point. Honestly. That is like her her turning. That's her copy.
- 1:15:25And then in that dance is when she flips to I can do like
- 1:15:30it's like she finds her confidence again. Absolutely, Yeah, and so I
- 1:15:34like obvious reasons aside, I really like that. So sure I think it's
- 1:15:40Superfer taking the fall and then popping. Yes, it's so fun some of
- 1:15:45those comedy lessons for me, I think when I look back on out of
- 1:15:50frame and pop back up, like that's always funny in a movie. So
- 1:15:56however it's happening, and his face like she starts licking the like the banister
- 1:16:01for the bed, like what is he? Hell? Me and Kate have
- 1:16:04had this conversation for many years now, so just to get your opinion here,
- 1:16:12so we're assuming was the plan He's gonna go kiss her and then tell
- 1:16:20her everything? That has to be it? Right? I think so because
- 1:16:25he says he says like, I'm going to give her an adventure, that's
- 1:16:28what she wants. And what was he going to admit that he's a spy?
- 1:16:31How do you do that without hitting your spise exactly? And like and
- 1:16:34like I said before, I remember my mom being like, you're if your
- 1:16:39dad kissed me, I would know it was him pretty much immediately, And
- 1:16:44I was like, of course, And but we're like, what else was
- 1:16:46the plan that has to be? I think there's no going back from that
- 1:16:49right, like, yeah, agree, once you kiss her, like you're
- 1:16:54you're telling her, But he kind of has to write otherwise she what thinks
- 1:16:59that people actually took her hostage from the government, and like they did,
- 1:17:01I guess, but even that, but and that, but that also seems
- 1:17:05weird that that was the plan. I don't know, it's the only party
- 1:17:11straight that I'm at all like, what was the real plan here? Because
- 1:17:15we're assuming that's the plan if he's going to go kiss her with the rose
- 1:17:18and stuff. But then also like why why not just tell her no?
- 1:17:24I don't know. He also wasn't clearly wasn't thinking super clearly, like they
- 1:17:29cut off half of this dude's house, his trailer house to like go in
- 1:17:32and take these people so much like Bill Paxson's face when that trailer his safe
- 1:17:42house, my place in the city, every single thing sound his soap boxers.
- 1:17:55Yeah that scene again. Why when we go back to some of those
- 1:18:00other actors like dan Aker and people, I'm like Tom Arnold pulling out his
- 1:18:03gun and being like get lost and just aspiring like four into the ground.
- 1:18:09I'm like, like dan Ackroy is not doing for me. I'm like,
- 1:18:13like that is just like, get out of here. Bro. God,
- 1:18:17I love that so much. Maybe could. The reason why I think he
- 1:18:20could is because of gross point blank yeah the reason. Yeah, that's fair,
- 1:18:25that's kind of be that guy. Maybe Tom he was crazy, has
- 1:18:29this just edge to him. I think it's so funny and somehow believe that
- 1:18:34he's like a good agent, even though like obviously he's not very in shape
- 1:18:42or anything, you know, I don't know. He just comes off like
- 1:18:45he can handle himself, I guess. But anyway, so good. I
- 1:18:51just want to throw another honorable mention. That bathroom fight is pretty doll.
- 1:18:59It's super fun and we should have gave the dude an honorable mention for the
- 1:19:02Tucci. Absolutely, that's a great job. But is super kicks in and
- 1:19:13yeah yeah and just really exciting to again such a James Cameron brilliant. Because
- 1:19:18I was also going to mention the morning after they get back from the opening.
- 1:19:25Yep, yeah, because one. I mean the opening I want to
- 1:19:30touch on briefly in a second. Great opening, super let's go back.
- 1:19:34We're going to our opening. First of all, if I'm on a first
- 1:19:38date and a girl asked me, so, what do you do? I
- 1:19:41want to be like, well, I'm a I'm a henchman, but I'm
- 1:19:45I ski and I have a machine gun and I ski. What do you
- 1:19:51mean. Well, here's the thing. Sometimes we have these parties and we're
- 1:19:55we're like backups, okay, and so if something really goes down and then
- 1:20:00goes down again and then really goes down, we get the call. So
- 1:20:03what we do is call skis already on. I'm loaded with my machine gun,
- 1:20:09and what I do is I kick it down the hill and I just
- 1:20:13go after whoever. They tell me. I'm a a ski guy with a
- 1:20:17machine gun. That's what I do. I love that you're talking about the
- 1:20:21other day. So these guys are just they're waiting, they got theirs on,
- 1:20:27they're in the they're in the warming house, and all of a sudden,
- 1:20:32machine gun and they're like some Austrian Americans. Something just blew up the
- 1:20:38pool house. Put your skis on. We're sending snowmobiles spruce. But legit,
- 1:20:45opening scene unbelievable. It's pretty good. It's like a Jameson movie meets.
- 1:20:53Also, they're participating in these like these, you know, nefarious means.
- 1:20:58And then Ta Carreras at a place where a place like a bomb goes
- 1:21:01off and people are dying and things are going off. She sees someone from
- 1:21:05that party and they don't mention that even one time, Like they're not like,
- 1:21:12how about that party? Isn't it crazy that the hot take like after
- 1:21:16that happens, there's everyone would be like, yo, well did anyone see
- 1:21:21anyone suspicials Like yeah, this guy he was yeah, freaking generals like yes,
- 1:21:28strangy jacked Austrian dude came up to me and said, hello, general,
- 1:21:32good to see you again. He was, but I remember said everything
- 1:21:39tastes like garlic. Garlic. I don't know a fully back. Are they
- 1:21:45speaking German? Is that I heard? Like a s oh yeah, yeah
- 1:21:50everyone there. They're at Hat Lake in Switzerland. In Switzerland, they Germany,
- 1:21:58that's Hat Lake. Do we think lake is shaped like a hat?
- 1:22:02I just think it's near a mountain and the mountain where's it as? But
- 1:22:06yes, opening scene also sliding backwards on your back shooting is awesome, Pretty
- 1:22:14cool, Pretty cool, dude, he's well, can you just lean back
- 1:22:19for a second? Yeah? Also, I feel like we don't can often
- 1:22:24see Arnold like full on running. Yeah he's trucking. I mean and he's
- 1:22:30in snow, so he's you know, it's not exactly Tom cruise, but
- 1:22:34he's maybe that's the only place he can struck in. But then coming back
- 1:22:42to where I started, that next morning scene, I think is great because
- 1:22:45you literally get full family relationship and you get full Tom Arnold relationship because he
- 1:22:53just pops in like this is what happens every morning. He rolls in and
- 1:22:57they set up the glasses and the cigarette camera, which is so brilliant.
- 1:23:03They get a little family drama in there with his daughter. So I think
- 1:23:06that seems really fun going back to the bathroom scene because I think it's brilliant
- 1:23:12that he sets that all up for us and then later it pays off so
- 1:23:15great in the bathroom also talk about like weird movie tropes that I've never had
- 1:23:20happened, Like no one's ever stopped to buy my house before we went to
- 1:23:25an office job. Well, he's you notice that this, you know,
- 1:23:29he keeps picking up and it's like, so why he can't drive himself to
- 1:23:34work. Yeah, he's a partner thing, like together picks up. I
- 1:23:46think it's a partner thing because they're together anyway, So I agree it is
- 1:23:50a little trophy, but it's just funny, like I'm gonna have Rob pick
- 1:23:56me up next time we do. Yeah, for sure, which you can.
- 1:24:00You can tell me remember to put my wedding ring back on. I
- 1:24:03always tell you We're going to get to some of that big uh any other
- 1:24:12scenes than anyone feels like we have to bring out dude, the horse,
- 1:24:15the horse through them, The horse through them all is dope. I love
- 1:24:19it, and him gonna make him jump to the next building. And then
- 1:24:24so that horse was not making it. The horse was right, bro.
- 1:24:30That horse was like, Bro, I have done enough. Yeah, absolutely
- 1:24:36not. I'm probably gonna get shot tomorrow because I'm done, We've gone.
- 1:24:42I'm you just went through my whole career. Yeah for sure, that was
- 1:24:47awesome. It is really fun scene. And also just to mention, the
- 1:24:53oozy dropping out of Jamie Lee Curtis's hands and ends up taking everyone out.
- 1:24:59So dumb. It's amazing, so dumb, so great. And then right
- 1:25:02after that, the you know, the the fuel truck flamethrower into the into
- 1:25:10the into the water. Yeah, I mean looks so cool. The flame
- 1:25:15thrower into the die. I mean, that's that's like, that's true.
- 1:25:17Lies that's true, lies bro and her looking at him and him with one
- 1:25:25sleeve off with the guns out, just flame throwing is like the whole movie
- 1:25:30in two shots. It's her being like, Wow, this is who my
- 1:25:33husband is and I didn't even know it. I thought he was in the
- 1:25:38computer business. And that jump that jumped into the water and then the shot
- 1:25:45with the flames over the water is as good as it gets in an action
- 1:25:49room. I do love that fire and ice too, because like he starts
- 1:25:53going under the ice earlier than he goes under the flames. I love that.
- 1:25:59That's cool. I mean honestly, like that's like, you know,
- 1:26:02and again that stuff nowadays that so many people would just see g I and
- 1:26:08they just wouldn't do it. You know. It's just it's so awesome when
- 1:26:12they just do it, and you know they just did it. Go for
- 1:26:15it. Yeah, blow blow stuff up so good. I love it.
- 1:26:21The interrogation scene too, do we say that. I love that scene.
- 1:26:27I think it's a great scene. Some of the best like lines, and
- 1:26:30I think that's like the her acting in that scene is I kind of wish
- 1:26:33they would do the mumbled voice on her end with the two of them fighting
- 1:26:39every every time the two of them like fight, what please? The window
- 1:26:55with the stool please, He's not, he's not pleasing. Actually so good.
- 1:27:04I love that boy. That is good? All right? Well yeah,
- 1:27:11I mean there's so many good scenes. I don't think we need to
- 1:27:13just pick one. I think now we should go to show me the money,
- 1:27:18Show me the money. Show We've said quite a few, but there's
- 1:27:29still I was gonna say, yes, needs to start start us off with
- 1:27:35whateveryone is with let's let's un let's unbate our breath. Mm hmmm, I'm
- 1:27:43not saying everyone else loves it. I love this line so desperately we assume
- 1:27:46it's not something everyone. I had no idea anything was going on, and
- 1:27:50I come home one day to the house and it was completely empty, I
- 1:27:55mean completely empty. She even took the ice cube trace out of the freezer.
- 1:27:59What kind of a sick which takes the ice cube trace out of the
- 1:28:03It's that line. I can remember being a young man and thinking that was
- 1:28:08the funniest thing anyone's ever said. And I will still drop that in there.
- 1:28:14He brings it up a switch. The way he throws that is so
- 1:28:19good. Well, yeah, kind of a takes and apparently that is like
- 1:28:30people believe that to be a story about Roseanne because she when they had their
- 1:28:34split, took everything out of the out of the house, including the ice
- 1:28:39cuber. So that was that's in the trivia. That was James Cameron heard
- 1:28:45him on set saying this, that's right, that's right, yeah, and
- 1:28:49so he then put it into the movie because it was so funny, and
- 1:28:55it is so funny general uh of that topic, because I just love every
- 1:29:00time Tom Arnold gets excited when he's like thanks Arnold's getting cheated on, Oh,
- 1:29:06welcome home. He's like giddy, and then yeah, like going into
- 1:29:13this, it just keeps getting better and better because he's been cheating on so
- 1:29:16much. I thought was something bad. Oh my god. It's almost like
- 1:29:24Steve Carrell and what is that crazy stupid love when they're like, oh god,
- 1:29:28we thought it was cancer. Nope, nope, I'm just getting a
- 1:29:30divorce. It's just my life falling apart or a man. He's got so
- 1:29:36many that he just throws out there too. They're just well, why don't
- 1:29:41you guys get going? We need to be just started off. I mean,
- 1:29:44look, I'm just going to say the one, because you know,
- 1:29:48certain things permeate our real life. You know. Let's just say, for
- 1:29:54example, me and Gad here going You're going to a Yankees game, and
- 1:29:59maybe one of us gets there first, and they'll text the other one and
- 1:30:01they'll be like, yo, I bought some little bottles, Jack Daniels and
- 1:30:06already got two dogs down here, so just come to the seats. You
- 1:30:10know, if that person's texting that what a team, we say it a
- 1:30:17lot, that's awesome. We also anytime someone's maybe doing something dumb or we
- 1:30:25like to say, we love to go those idiots your time is that Arnold
- 1:30:31comes out as Arnold in the film Idiots. He's talking about is talking about
- 1:30:39husbands. Yeah, yes, yes, yes, those idiots. Yes please
- 1:30:46anyway, Oh you kind of said the second half of it, but the
- 1:30:50guy is a damn You said, let's keep getting better and better, getting
- 1:30:55better and better. Yea, so good. So it's always I've always loved
- 1:31:00is the pass And uh, I'm nothing. I'm naval lit, so I
- 1:31:09never know what. I never knew what naval mess. And then I saw
- 1:31:14the words and saw that it was naval the day as a kid, I
- 1:31:18always thought it was navalan like one thing, and I said, I never
- 1:31:23wanted to ask. And it wasn't until I got belly hair that I realized
- 1:31:28what naval. So you did figure it out. I didn't figure it out
- 1:31:31until I looked at this early thirties. Yesterday, Rob figured it out,
- 1:31:38yes yesterday. It was one of those. That was yesterday, the only
- 1:31:44time that anyone's ever mentioned naval lint in the film. I don't know if
- 1:31:47that words. Oh, that's the best. It's so funny, that's pathetic,
- 1:32:01it's good, it's so good. Already said I think, have you
- 1:32:08ever killed anyone? Yeah, but they were all bad? That's the best.
- 1:32:13So good you get you don't get many like one liner like action one
- 1:32:17liners, but you do get the one where when he does the missile,
- 1:32:23you get a couple of though, you get he hits the dude in the
- 1:32:26cool off. Okay, actually there's there was more than I even remember.
- 1:32:31There's there's a couple. He's got a couple. What's the what's the jet
- 1:32:35one? You're fired? See, I'm the other way you got. I
- 1:32:43actually really enjoy when Arnold has to say regular human sentences or whatever. But
- 1:32:50then when Arnold has to say, oh, it was fantastic they hit of
- 1:32:55the show, Oh yeah. Or my favorite line I think in the whole
- 1:33:00thing is after he finds out she's like cheating on him and he goes sounds
- 1:33:03like a bit of excitement and an otherwise dull day. And I'm like,
- 1:33:08how long did you have to practice sing sounds like a and otherwise dull day?
- 1:33:14And like that is a mouthful for you right now. Like I love
- 1:33:19when he says regular stuff. We just what we were just watching Running Man
- 1:33:24when he attempts to say so, it's so difficult for him to say regular
- 1:33:30things. I love that. But he can say cool off problem, Vincent
- 1:33:36Price and hadat love that. My muscle was a teacher, and my father
- 1:33:42he was a teacher. Oh yes, and the beacc shopping. My dad
- 1:33:47always would say that one you read about the shopping. He's have two very
- 1:33:55subtle ones. I love when when he finds out she's quote cheating and uh,
- 1:34:01the boss starts talking at him and Tom Hodod comes over. Just go
- 1:34:05get something that goes. The Guss driver has so many great he's so good.
- 1:34:15He likes the smoke and he doesn't that Yeah, he's getting out before
- 1:34:19the bathrooms. He gets out of the car to put on the glasses and
- 1:34:21he lights a cigarette and you can't smoke at coughs. The top Mars is
- 1:34:27like, dickhead and then he replies, blow me, yeah, pretty good
- 1:34:34after the fact, like a d R lines for those of you at home,
- 1:34:39and when you don't get the sound take on set, you come in
- 1:34:44later and you have to watch yourself on a big screen and say your line
- 1:34:48again. Yeah, And it's called a d R and you have to and
- 1:34:54you can tell, you know. It was really obvious in a couple of
- 1:34:57spots, especially like when the van pulled up in that opening scene before he's
- 1:35:02like can you lean back, he says something like, oh good, you
- 1:35:06guys made it or something, and before the before the it even stops.
- 1:35:12Yeah, that was one I actually stuck out to me and I was like,
- 1:35:15why didn't you just wait till the van stopped? And then, honestly,
- 1:35:18though movies from the seventies, eighties and into the nineties, sometimes I'm
- 1:35:25like, like half the movie is a DR and I think just because the
- 1:35:28sound, I just think any interference was a problem that they hit the mark
- 1:35:35right. And now I think MIC's are so good that it's fine, but
- 1:35:42and I don't. I'm I'm sure that. I mean, they had lot
- 1:35:45lobs back then. But man, when I watch movies from like the eighties,
- 1:35:49I'm like, wow, Like this whole scene is yeah, after the
- 1:35:54fact, but mm hmm some more good lines when can't live with him,
- 1:36:00can't kill him? I like that one a lot. I always loved just
- 1:36:06the ending lines. It's like, you know what, I'm sick of being
- 1:36:11in the van. You guys are going to be in the van next time.
- 1:36:13I've been in the van for fifteen years, Harry. Yeah, it's
- 1:36:15so funny. So that whole thing is so good. Don't ignore me,
- 1:36:20Harry, that's rude. Yeah, national security guys. Yeah, all of
- 1:36:26those so good. I love that. I love the when it's they're listening
- 1:36:33in to Simon talking to Helen, it's like something came over me. I
- 1:36:38just had to nail this guy, no matter what the risk. Pretty Harry.
- 1:36:41I thought he had me a couple of times, but I can't take
- 1:36:43credit. Why not. It's the training. It shapes you into a lethal
- 1:36:47instrument. You react in a microsecond without thinking. And he's like, I'm
- 1:36:53sort of like this guy. We still gotta kill him. That's a given.
- 1:36:57But that's a given can this guy? Yeah? So I like it
- 1:37:06when it's like, all right, twinkle toes, what's your exit strategy.
- 1:37:11I'm gonna walk right out the front gate. Ballsy stupid but stupid stupid.
- 1:37:18You have some more bukes, Yeah, for sure, if not for me
- 1:37:24to it for your country trying to co worts her into which is not a
- 1:37:29good look. Just a scumbag. It's so funny. Uh so your life's
- 1:37:35in the crapper, so your wife's banging to use car salesman. It's humiliating,
- 1:37:40I know, but damn it taking like a man. I love that
- 1:37:44whole line, so funny one that always cracks me up. And I don't
- 1:37:47know why. It's just at the end and it's not supposed to be funny,
- 1:37:51but the way he says it, because it's Arnold, is so great.
- 1:37:55When he's just like day not jump jump, Daddy will catch you.
- 1:38:01I love the Daddy will catch you. That's always cracked me up. I
- 1:38:04don't know why cracks me up every time? What Yeah, like what is
- 1:38:15happening? I also love I don't know why Rob Nose, I just glom
- 1:38:25onto the way people say things sometimes, and I've always loved the the code
- 1:38:29name of your contact will be Boris, and your code name will be and
- 1:38:31then she's like Natasha and he's like, no, Doris. It's like,
- 1:38:40why not just give her Natasha? You said them Doris. It's so funny.
- 1:38:45I love that line. I also love uh the yes files are in
- 1:38:55luck Fast Vice all strikes again. I mean, I'm down, baby,
- 1:38:59I got my hand up her dress and I'm going to go. Just got
- 1:39:00with the goddamn files. Well, I mentioned like Arnold, and Arnold's not
- 1:39:05good at swearing, not a natural swear, and but one of my favorites
- 1:39:13is stopping the car and coming around and being like, gi it the goddamn
- 1:39:16page. Yes, I'm just smashing the car when that too, and just
- 1:39:23smash in the window. And then of course Tom Arnold giving us the the
- 1:39:27hard comedy beat for sure, sure, okay, saying you psychopathic or whatever.
- 1:39:38Yeah, yes, it does not come naturally. You're right. Also,
- 1:39:44I actually actually just on an acting note not to drag this out further,
- 1:39:48but I do think both Arnold and Jamie Lee Curtis do a great job
- 1:39:55because they both have scenes at the dinner table where they're lying, and I
- 1:40:02guess his isn't at the dinner table. This is in the bathroom where he's
- 1:40:06like yes. And when we rolled up there and they're they're they're doing like
- 1:40:11the classic like over explaining and her at the table, her at the table
- 1:40:16when he's like, you know when he tried to go have he's like a
- 1:40:20stuffy office that lunch, and she's like, I had to go down to
- 1:40:27and of course they have the seven sixty printer, which of course I had
- 1:40:31to go to the It's so good and it's just like stranger reminds me of
- 1:40:35like some of my aunts. I feel like she like became like a Minnesota
- 1:40:39can all of a sudden. One. Of course they don't have the seven
- 1:40:43sixty printer, but they're more just good acting things. I love, like
- 1:40:49the over explaining of the lie right, oh god. Also when they're in
- 1:40:57the I think I read later this is uh this James Cameron, but actually
- 1:41:01but when he's like they're following him in the copter with like the infrared and
- 1:41:05it's like we have the ball. We have pretty good lock on infrared.
- 1:41:09Yep, she's got she's got her head in his lap all right, and
- 1:41:14then he's like, maybe she's just sleepy. Maybe she's sleepy. Maybe I
- 1:41:18loved how he said maybe she's sleepy. That's also a great scumbag playing by
- 1:41:27want to put my head down. Yeah, he is the ultimate scumbag.
- 1:41:34Really is incredible. Start to feel horrible where they're drugged up and he's like,
- 1:41:42oh, they're gonna shoot us in the head, They're gonna tature as
- 1:41:45a death. That whole thing. It's really fun here about the bombs.
- 1:41:50But yes, it's really great, really great. Also, Arnold has a
- 1:41:58really funny comedic thing with the horror after the war stops and pulls him back
- 1:42:01where he's like, now, what the hell were you thinking? I mean,
- 1:42:04we had the guy and you let him get away. What kind of
- 1:42:06cop are you? Anyway? Look at me when I'm talking to you,
- 1:42:10you know, like it's the whole thing. It's really good. It's like
- 1:42:13I don't even need those things, you know, those are those things where
- 1:42:15it was ninety the mid nineties, so like just like terrorist guy firing the
- 1:42:24the Zuoka and then going flying back in the jet and we have him getting
- 1:42:30hit in the nuts. Gag. Yeah, you know, like a cross
- 1:42:34side gag. I'm like, we don't need these things. These are not
- 1:42:40necess scary. It's fine that they're in there. Speak for yourself, dude,
- 1:42:44Like it was amazing. I loved it. I laughed so hard,
- 1:42:48so hard. The jet one is my favorite one because it's like, this
- 1:42:53is the climbing here. Yeah, yeah, just like what Yeah, it's
- 1:43:00a good call. Yeah. And you also had the the guy cleaning the
- 1:43:03room, which which because at least that's just like a psych gig, so
- 1:43:12I can get I get behind that. It's just sometimes you know, and
- 1:43:15they did it. Oh, I mean, this is adding the extra comedy
- 1:43:20stuff, right, you know. It was always such a so silly and
- 1:43:26like we don't really made it. Yeah. And then the quote of the
- 1:43:30movie is probably Tom from Market, Minnesota. Yeah. I love that some
- 1:43:43of the greatest actors in New York to day sometimes everyone while yeah, well,
- 1:43:50well well this has been great, you guys take it in the old
- 1:44:01dusty trail. Let's move on, let's go to Boohoo. Moments at the
- 1:44:09crying game, I thought maybe one interesting. I think probably zero, but
- 1:44:13maybe one one just when after he finds out that she's having an affair,
- 1:44:21thinks that she's having an affair. Mhm. He's like she's a flesh and
- 1:44:27blood woman and you're never there. It was only a matter of time.
- 1:44:31I thought that was great. I did not cry. I really liked one.
- 1:44:39Okay, hit me. In the interrogation scene, she loses it.
- 1:44:45Yeah, and she and she says that I have always loved him and I
- 1:44:51will always Yes, because she's acting her face off in that scene. Yeah,
- 1:44:59that off like she didn't need to be that good, but she didn't.
- 1:45:04It's like it's like an overqualified performance to be honest. Yeah, yep,
- 1:45:11that one got me for sure, And well mine's my own. But
- 1:45:15I honestly do get emotional, like the the shot of her hanging from the
- 1:45:19just because I think it's I feel like I will know that story. I
- 1:45:24really do get hype tears. I didn't always, but for some reason,
- 1:45:29I don't know why. I think it's his close up being like come on
- 1:45:32baby. Yeah you know, and even even though it's Arnold saying come on
- 1:45:38baby, which is so dumb. But I don't know. I just think
- 1:45:42after everything they've gone through and they're totally they're finally just like having a moment
- 1:45:46where like, let's go like, I just really love that. I always
- 1:45:53have that because it takes both of them in that moment, right, Like
- 1:45:57he has to be willing to be down there with his arm out and have
- 1:46:00the power together. She has to also go to him, and so it's
- 1:46:02like the culmination of this, just like we really coming together. Trust me,
- 1:46:08trust me, take my hand. Let's go. Also the kiss while
- 1:46:12a nuclear weapon goes off. I did like that, beautiful. I didn't
- 1:46:17cry, though I didn't cry. I mean, I those the only ones
- 1:46:24that makes sense. That was the only one I had. So you guys
- 1:46:27nailed that. Nicely done. Guys, assist just not feeling as much.
- 1:46:34Yeah, I'm becoming stone on the inside from the inside out already. Then
- 1:46:44yes, okay, let's go to movie trivia. Uh so. Arnold Schwarzenegger's
- 1:46:49biggest challenge for the movie was not all the physical stunts, but it was
- 1:46:53in fact to dancing the tango. Apparently, he had to take dancing lessons
- 1:46:57to realistically perform the dance, and he rehearsed the scene for six months as
- 1:47:02he wanted to make sure he was as good at the tango as al Pacino
- 1:47:06was. Incent of a woman. He never got there also take for like
- 1:47:14thirty seconds nothing. They apparently though, and I thought this was kind of
- 1:47:18cool. It's the same song as Scent of a Woman. It is well,
- 1:47:21yes, I and actually we should we should have another. James Cameron
- 1:47:27shoutout sweet Bookmark with the tank. Hell, yeah, that's very good.
- 1:47:30It's perfect. Just that's like just good again, just good film me.
- 1:47:35Yeah, Harry, we don't have time, Harry, Yeah, very good.
- 1:47:43I love that. Uh, let's just all admit this is weird.
- 1:47:46But I'm going to say the set of bra and matching panties worn by Helen
- 1:47:50Tasker during the strip teas were Jamie Lee Curtis's own. H Curtis rehearsed the
- 1:47:58scene extensively with the director, and it was there that the fall she makes
- 1:48:02in the middle of the dance was conceived. It didn't happen spontaneously during rehearsal
- 1:48:08or the actual shooting, as it's often claimed. Apparently, but Arnold was
- 1:48:13not told of this beforehand, and so when he like briefly sits up in
- 1:48:16alarm and then like kind of relaxes back after he realizes broken character, that's
- 1:48:23that's real, I guess which is? And they have they have that actual
- 1:48:27take. I don't know. Well, also those are like different takes.
- 1:48:31Yeah, I mean, sure, I agree, I agree, but I
- 1:48:35thought that was fun. Let's see, we already said the Tom Arnold stuff.
- 1:48:44The US government supplied three marine harriers and their pilots for a fee of
- 1:48:48one hundred thousand dollars or about twenty four hundred dollars per hour, which a
- 1:48:57real low YO hour. Pretty reasonable. You're saying, maybe because they didn't
- 1:49:01have four, we didn't have to do anything super crazy, so maybe it
- 1:49:04wasn't like it wasn't like top they didn't have to like put cameras in the
- 1:49:10in the cock. You told me the horse was twenty four hundred an hour,
- 1:49:14I'd be like, yeah, that seems seriously. The horse running through
- 1:49:16the hotel sounds like twenty five hundred bucks an hour for sure. Yeah.
- 1:49:20I will say we've read, like we've read in the past that sometimes the
- 1:49:25like armed forces will give them a deal because it's also kind of like publicity
- 1:49:30for them. Well, we were saying, you know, Harry or jet
- 1:49:32was like a big deal. Yeah, and that was the first time I
- 1:49:36ever saw that thing. That's if you make I think, if you make
- 1:49:40the military look good. Yeah, they will right give you permission. Yeah,
- 1:49:47but pretty crazy that they got actual pilots and and three Harry jets.
- 1:49:51That's pretty sweet. Apparently, the original idea for this movie was was said
- 1:49:59by Arnold to James Cameron, and it was because Arnold had seen a French
- 1:50:06film called The Jackpot from nineteen ninety one and he wanted to do a film
- 1:50:11like that because he thought the super secret agent character was interesting. And Cameron
- 1:50:15was surprised and like the idea of presenting a secret agent with unlimited professional resources
- 1:50:21but as a family man, and like kind of asking the question. He
- 1:50:26says, quote, who would James Bond be if he got home and had
- 1:50:29to answer to his wife and decided to make this movie? And I was
- 1:50:31like, yeah, that was a good idea, and that's why it worked,
- 1:50:33right, Like it was that's fun. I mean, it's a great
- 1:50:36idea. Yeah, I love that such a and it's it's one of those
- 1:50:41ideas that like it's so obvious after someone says it, like yeah, of
- 1:50:45course that'll be good. You know, Like I love that it is interesting
- 1:50:47when you hear it. Fun. Yeah, man, I've heard people say,
- 1:50:50you know, if you can say it in one sentence sentence. Yeah,
- 1:50:54right, and that is one of the especially to that point, had
- 1:50:58there ever been anything like them? Well, I mean obviously we had multiple
- 1:51:02decades of James Bond. Yeah, you know what I mean. I'm just
- 1:51:08like, when someone like James Cameron hears that out, that does sound very
- 1:51:13just like a great idea. Yeah yeah. And then they said mister and
- 1:51:16Missus Smith is sort of like a spiritual like successor to this movie. And
- 1:51:21I never saw that movie, so now I want to, oh, that
- 1:51:25was fun one, but it's not the one time and thought it was fine.
- 1:51:30I don't think it's nearly as good as true. No, no,
- 1:51:33I'm not saying that either. But it's a super fun movie and it was
- 1:51:38worth to watch. But I don't think it doesn't happen without two lives for
- 1:51:45sure. Jamie Leacurtis called the film without question, the greatest experience of my
- 1:51:50professional life so far, which is pretty wild, so at least she felt
- 1:51:55that way. At one point, the sound stage where they shot the Harrier
- 1:51:59scale at was the largest one hundred and eighty degree GreenScreen background ever built at
- 1:52:03that time, which is crazy to think about now because now they have like
- 1:52:08warehouses that are green screen basically right, like three sixties. But also this
- 1:52:15is what James Cameron did. When you did the Abyss. It was the
- 1:52:17largest, uh like fresh water tank? Yeah right, Titanic was the largest,
- 1:52:26like tanks anything anyone? Yeah, man, push the envelope right,
- 1:52:34but the yeah, the terrible Eliza Douchecoo stuff. The Harrier jet was held
- 1:52:45by like a crane, which I thought was cool. So they like half
- 1:52:49practical for some of those shots. At the end they do the wide shot
- 1:52:55of it going up and then they do sort of that closer of Arnold actually
- 1:53:02in it. But yeah, it looks great, super super neat. I
- 1:53:08really liked that. And then apparently the final shot took so long to complete,
- 1:53:18to James Cameron's satisfaction that on his next project with the studio of T
- 1:53:24two three D Battle Across Time, several artists warpins that said no am I
- 1:53:30twenty nine inside a red circle with the strike through it, referring to the
- 1:53:35twenty ninth shot in Miami sequence for the film, because it took like eight
- 1:53:40months to do or something. What crazy does it say? What shot that
- 1:53:43is? It was? The I think it was the Harrier, the green
- 1:53:51screen underneath the harrier, like to make all the jetwash, like the dust
- 1:53:57and stuff. All that dust was composited in there via computer and stuff like
- 1:54:01that. I guess, so Matt as much of a genius as he is.
- 1:54:10I'm sure working on a James cammeron thing is for people. Yeah,
- 1:54:17I would assume, yeah, for sure. But but you get some good
- 1:54:23movies. I guess sure that was all the stuff I have though. Otherwise
- 1:54:30we talked about stuff. What do you got wrap? Yeah, Renegade had
- 1:54:33talked about the other guys that were up for Tom Arnold's roll. The only
- 1:54:38thing I saw for Jamie Lee Curtis. I mean, I did see that
- 1:54:43they had talked to a lot of different people because Arnold was not convinced that
- 1:54:47Jamie Lee Curtis could do it and wanted somebody else to do it. Oh
- 1:54:51interesting, So they kind of cast a wide net it sounded like, but
- 1:54:55then came back to Jamie Lee Curtis. But during that time, Jody foss
- 1:55:00Her was originally cast it looks like, but had to turn it down for
- 1:55:04Nell. I mean, I guess that's not that surprising because I'm like,
- 1:55:14again, what was Jamie Lee Curtis coming up like my girl and more than
- 1:55:23did she had pulled that off? Uh, well she could, but she
- 1:55:28would have generally could have pulled off but she wouldn't have been funny thing.
- 1:55:32Yeah that she did maverickick, which I think no, no, but I
- 1:55:38mean that was like that would have been right before this. Right, that's
- 1:55:41true, So I could see that. I think she certainly could have I
- 1:55:45mean, right, right, right, you know, I just think,
- 1:55:50yeah, I just think I'm trying to think of who else could have pulled
- 1:55:54off the I don't think anybody could have pulled Curtis. You just all the
- 1:56:00things and like Jody Foster doing that dance. I cannot see that at all,
- 1:56:05Right, I can't. I can't see that. Nope. And she
- 1:56:11is wildly talented obviously, you know. Yeah, but yeah, that was
- 1:56:16all I had. Did you guys have any others that you wanted to bring
- 1:56:19up? We can't have talked about all that. I kind of hit him
- 1:56:21one nice, Well, let's move on the next deal. Jodjvin Day,
- 1:56:27Will there be a sequel? This was one bit of trivia. I saw
- 1:56:30a sequel was once in the works, which would have reunited the principal cast
- 1:56:33and director James Cameron. A script was even ready for this sequel, and
- 1:56:39had the movie been made, it would have been released sometime in two thousand
- 1:56:42and two. This was eventually scrapped or at least indefinitely shelved, due to
- 1:56:46script problems as well as the nine to eleven terrorist attacks. Yeah, Cameron
- 1:56:51even said in an interview that he dropped his sequel plans because in this day
- 1:56:55and age, terrorism just isn't funny anymore. But apparently. A series based
- 1:57:00on the movie True Lies was eventually made, but only ran for one season
- 1:57:04after a poor reception. And I didn't never heard about that. I heard,
- 1:57:10I heard about it. This is going to be terrible. You didn't
- 1:57:14watch it? Yeah, I think that was like kind of an interesting conceit,
- 1:57:18Like Dana continued in the family business. Was the idea, right,
- 1:57:23It's not a bad idea. It's actually not it's not a bad idea.
- 1:57:26Yeah, I watched. I think I watched. The trailer for it was
- 1:57:30awful. So so was it Elijah Doushku that did it? No, No,
- 1:57:35it was it was like a fun like network. It was like it
- 1:57:43was a network thing. Here's the thing, like I watched Mister and Missus
- 1:57:45Smith on Amazon with Donald Glover and Donald Glover. How is that? I've
- 1:57:50been meaning to watch it. It's really fun. But like like a lot
- 1:57:58of times when they remixed, like we just watched Roadhouse, you know,
- 1:58:01like that kind of I'm like, why even call it that? Why even
- 1:58:08put this pressure on of a quote unquote remake If it's gonna be totally different
- 1:58:13anyway, just call it something else. It's it's like they want it's like
- 1:58:17they want that built It's a it's like a catch twenty two. You want
- 1:58:21this built in thing so you can get this audience that's already excited about this
- 1:58:27thing that already happened. But also then you need to deliver, and if
- 1:58:32it's super different or not as good, you've kind of screwed yourself. Yeah,
- 1:58:39you know, it's like when they tried to remake Point Break and it
- 1:58:42was all the action, you know, well, and I ether made it
- 1:58:46like twenty minutes. It's awful. Yeah, And like road we just watched
- 1:58:54Roadhouse with Jill and Hall. It's you know, it's fine, it's it's
- 1:58:59it's maybe worth your hour, and you know whatever, it's not Broadhouse called
- 1:59:06something else. I mean Smith actually was fun with Donald lover and and what's
- 1:59:14your name? But it could it could have called anything else. I don't
- 1:59:16know. Sometimes it's it's weird to me when you're trying to bank on this
- 1:59:20thing but you want it to be different. I don't know. It seems
- 1:59:26like more trouble than it's worth. I guess. And the True Lies TV
- 1:59:30Show, I watching Robbie smiling because you know Fewkes loves that movie he loves
- 1:59:39Did you actually love it? I didn't think it was good, but I
- 1:59:44had a great time watching Look. Original Roadhouse is basically that too. I
- 1:59:51mean actually the parts I disliked the most was they made it like they the
- 1:59:57c G. I was weird and they put c G and weird exact.
- 2:00:00They do that a lot. I didn't understand that. I think it's sometimes
- 2:00:03it's cheaper and look, bro yeah, Connor Connor McGregor wolf, he's a
- 2:00:13monster. Yeah, that acting debut needs to be the acting curtain for me.
- 2:00:21Well, he was also like gacked out of his mind to that whole
- 2:00:25movie, so like on blow or what big come out and said after that,
- 2:00:31like he went into rehab. I thought that was that was one of
- 2:00:34those words to the director, and Jill and Hall were like, let's just
- 2:00:38not say anything to him. Let's just we're getting our checks are clearing.
- 2:00:44Let's just how do we give that guy notes? Yeah, at this point,
- 2:00:48let's just let him roll. Every time they did a fighting Joe has
- 2:00:51just like just try to hurt me. All right, here we go.
- 2:00:55Yeah, okay, please remember this is fake. But honestly, this is
- 2:01:02one of those This is one of those movies though that couldn't you totally see
- 2:01:08now that Jamie Lee Curtis is like an Oscar winner and Arnold like, couldn't
- 2:01:12you see them maybe trying to make a sequel now? Got I hope not,
- 2:01:16but maybe it doesn't really act anymore, does he? He's been doing
- 2:01:23so. The problem is Cameron's so balls deep in avatars. He's which I'll
- 2:01:33just say again, it's so kind of sad to me. I'm just like
- 2:01:36I wish he was just like, don't don't you like fifties sixties aged Cameron
- 2:01:44right now? Just be giving us some bangers like like a again, like
- 2:01:49somewhere between Christopher Nolan and Michael Bay, Like I don't know, and I
- 2:01:57like Avatar. It just sucks that that's all he does, right, totally,
- 2:02:00totally. Yeah, he's got a little more than I guess a lot.
- 2:02:08Yeah, a few more zeros doing. Okay, Uh, well,
- 2:02:14what do you guys think? Should we play a little game here? Yeah?
- 2:02:18Are you into it? Because, guys, I've got good news.
- 2:02:21This is a new game. It's a new game you boys are going to
- 2:02:28play. I think you'll like this game as well. Uh, this one
- 2:02:35is basically what we're going to do is I'm going to name an actor and
- 2:02:41then uh, you know, we'll give you guys a couple of seconds to
- 2:02:43think and then you can just ring in. And what's going to happen is
- 2:02:46you three are going to try and name a film that had the lowest worldwide
- 2:02:51gross for that actor that they were in. So we're trying to find their
- 2:02:56least popular worldwide gross movie. And you guys ever played the movie grid game?
- 2:03:03Because that's pretty much what Yeah, I haven't. We might have even
- 2:03:08told you guys about this last time. I haven't played that game. I
- 2:03:12don't do it every day, but a couple of times a week. It's
- 2:03:14great, it's fun. Yeah, sometimes I do cheap because it's hard.
- 2:03:17Well, yeah, sometimes I give up, and I'm just like, okay,
- 2:03:20tell me which ones I screwed up on. But Rob is really good
- 2:03:24at it, and so I'm happy to watch you guys hopefully take him down
- 2:03:29a couple of picks, so we'll see. We do keep score, but
- 2:03:32I don't. We don't really keep score either, so let's just, uh,
- 2:03:36let's have a fun time keep score. Should I tell you, guys
- 2:03:41the theme or do you want to try and figure it out? We'll figure
- 2:03:44it out. You want to figure it out, okay, so you can
- 2:03:46ring it at anytime to guess the theme. But the first person we're going
- 2:03:50to start with is Amy Polar get Benny wants to go first. It's not
- 2:04:01always best to go first. Oh you're right, I guess it's not so,
- 2:04:04But I'm not justss waiting you just like think on it for a minute.
- 2:04:09I'll tell you guess at the end what I picked for mine. So
- 2:04:12we tried to do its roasting movie lowes Mo Polar, Amy Pohlar, I'll
- 2:04:20say blades glory, Blades of glory. I like that. Guess just one
- 2:04:26second. So that was one hundred and forty five million dollars. Really,
- 2:04:30I mean, I don't know why I said that move with dumb that's okay,
- 2:04:38yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you can say what hot American
- 2:04:40Sellers Summer. That's a really good one. It's going to be it's hard
- 2:04:45to be. That one is two hundred and ninety two thousand. I'm going
- 2:04:49to say, what do you do? I do it didn't it didn't pick
- 2:04:54up the later, So what do you do that? Or is that the
- 2:04:58winter? Yeah? You know what, we'll do probably up. This is
- 2:05:00part of why I don't want to keep score, because I'm like, there's
- 2:05:02no great way to do it in this game. But we could do like
- 2:05:05each one of these. He next time Renegade goes first or something or you
- 2:05:12you know what in order? Yeah, because I do agree, that's the
- 2:05:17part I have. Now the tables will flip because Renegade is our chief financial
- 2:05:21officer. So Rob, I will say, on my list here, there
- 2:05:30are two films that are below American Summer. You have a s. I
- 2:05:35can't think lower than that. I've never heard of either of them. But
- 2:05:41maybe was she in that Wine Country movie? That's what I was thinking about.
- 2:05:45I couldn't remember the name. I think she was. That problem is
- 2:05:51with that, But some of the Netflix ones have worldwide releases. Wine Country
- 2:05:57did not. There is no world moecas. I might know this if Robb
- 2:06:01doesn't. That was his guest. So what do you guys? They came
- 2:06:05together? They came together? Is the number one? It is eight thousand,
- 2:06:12Yeah, eighty two thousand dollars worldwide gross, eighty two thousand. They
- 2:06:17were already, weren't they. That was in twenty fourteen, the whole one
- 2:06:23cast. Oh yeah, that cast. It bobs, my god, renegade
- 2:06:28clearly about this. It gets a point for that, definitely the point I
- 2:06:34got. And then we're gonna go ahead to the next person. And the
- 2:06:40next person is this is a hard one. Maya Hawk? Oh, and
- 2:06:48we're gonna start with Rob for this one. Oh god, I know this
- 2:06:54one's a b I mean, I only know fits in the theme. I
- 2:06:58only know one movie that she's in and it's made a billion dollars? Which
- 2:07:03one is that? Rob? I only know her she was just an inside
- 2:07:09out too, But I don't know interesting of another movie. Buy a Hawk,
- 2:07:15you say, buy a Hawk. Let me think about this. I
- 2:07:19don't know a lot of her films. She's great on Stranger Things, sure,
- 2:07:26which is not a film. Turns out, all I can think of
- 2:07:30is Inside Out Too, which made roughly five good jillion dollars. Uh,
- 2:07:35that is all? Like, have you seen that movie? I brought the
- 2:07:40kiddies to it, me too. It was so fun. Yeah. One
- 2:07:45point two billion dollars is the current number. Me and Stephanie were about three
- 2:07:51corps the way through, and I was like, I don't know, maybe
- 2:07:54maybe this isn't gonna make me cries And this is the first Oh god,
- 2:07:57just kidding, I did, I don't. I think I cried more in
- 2:08:01the first one, but I cried more, but this one didn't have the
- 2:08:05middle thing with the imaginary friend. This is right, yeah, all substance.
- 2:08:11Yeah, it was good. It was really good. Yeah. So
- 2:08:13that's my horrible guest. Anybody else want we go back to Renegade? Then
- 2:08:18for your guess, all you have to beat is a movie that made one
- 2:08:22point two billion dollars. I got, I got to cocky, I got
- 2:08:31nothing. She fits in with the theme, but it's very hard because she
- 2:08:35hasn't been in like a ton a couple of mops. Well you could name
- 2:08:41one, and I get you. Guys are gonna be so mad at the
- 2:08:48theme, let me win with one one point two billion dollar movie. Please,
- 2:08:56maybe we just start with another movie she's I don't even know if I
- 2:08:58can. I couldn't. I could. I had two that you knew before
- 2:09:03looking up? Yeah? Yeah, because I wrote him down beforehand. Huh.
- 2:09:09I'm sure I'm gonna feel dumb. I know I've seen her. Well,
- 2:09:11I wouldn't say that, but I just have. I must have looked
- 2:09:15her up recently or something. That was the only reason I remembered. I
- 2:09:18definitely believe that. I don't know. I honestly can't even believe it.
- 2:09:24You know, I'm more of her Dad is more of my type. What
- 2:09:26now? Ready? Do you have a guess or we got give it to
- 2:09:31us? So my guess Rob wins with one point two billion dollars. But
- 2:09:35my guess was Maestro, which she is his daughter in that oh yeah,
- 2:09:45eighty thousand or something. Yeah, it was a Netflix movie. But I
- 2:09:48also knew she was in Once upon a Time in Hollywood as the like one
- 2:09:52of the Flower Child. There were so many people in that Flower Child.
- 2:09:58I don't remember Sidney Sweeney, Yeah, friend Sydney Yeah, oh yeah,
- 2:10:09your friend, your close friend, big deal. Everybody check it out.
- 2:10:15It's called Reality on HBO in the remake of True Lives just for the bedroom.
- 2:10:22Anyway, I've said too much. She's also an asteroid city, but
- 2:10:26her least grossing is something called Lady World, which made five thousand dollars worldwide,
- 2:10:33So Rob gets points for that. I'm about that fun. The next
- 2:10:39person is Lewis Black. Oh my god, just say yeah, do it
- 2:10:48again. I know it's your turnout. I think goes first this time.
- 2:10:52Benny went first, then you went first, Then it goes first. Man,
- 2:10:56I only have one. This isn't well planned out by me, to
- 2:11:03be clear. Well, fine, I'll just say inside out too. Inside
- 2:11:07out to one point two Bill, that's a great one. No one's come
- 2:11:15up with the theme yet. Okay, they've already made one point two billion
- 2:11:18dollars. Yeah, the box office today insane. It's been months. Yeah.
- 2:11:28Those Pixar movies are no joke. They're insane. It's incredible, They're
- 2:11:31insane. It was God, I have one. It's not even a good
- 2:11:37one. One. Let's go Benny next. Sorry I never said who was
- 2:11:41next. Yeah, I figured out next. I don't remember out the theme
- 2:11:46here? Inside Out one, Inside Out one was eight hundred and fifty million,
- 2:11:50So you are currently in the league. I have one that did not
- 2:11:56make eight hundred and fifty million. I love it, and it was accepted.
- 2:12:01That was the one I guessed, and that did make thirty eight million
- 2:12:05dollars. So that you are a winner. Accepted. Accept Just long,
- 2:12:11just along, ask me about wow. His lowest crossing was something called let
- 2:12:22Fury Have the Hour, which made three thousand dollars worldwide. Lewis Black,
- 2:12:30Maya Hawk, and Amy Poehler all have something in common. Yeah, what
- 2:12:33what is it? Nothing? All right, let's go on to the next
- 2:12:39person. This is Paul Walter Houser. Oh okay, Paul Walter Hauser,
- 2:12:48and let's start with Benny. This time we'll go Benny roub Ready. I
- 2:12:56had a heart time with this one. I should have picked the better people
- 2:13:01guys, and I feel bad about it. Yeah, these are tough.
- 2:13:07Think of the freaking Boston Marathon movie. I just thought you guys were good
- 2:13:11at these games usually, so like, you know, just just bing it
- 2:13:18down. It's his name, Paul Walter Houser. These are just movies,
- 2:13:24right, not just feel Yeah, you can't pick that cool ass movie where
- 2:13:30he was the show what's it called Blackbird or something? That show was great
- 2:13:39Emmy Glow, Yeah he did. Did you ever see it? Yeah,
- 2:13:43it's so good. Za Eron great than that. No, it's not Aaron
- 2:13:52Edricson. That's all right, right, And I'm like, I'm trying to
- 2:13:56think of, oh time also the things I'm thinking of our shows. I
- 2:14:03feel like, uh, I can't think of a stupid Boston Marathon movie.
- 2:14:09It's his name, I don't know. I'll just Sayaniaitanya. That can't be
- 2:14:18thirty million dollars not, I mean, pretty pretty good? Guess pretty good.
- 2:14:22That is the only movie I could think of. Now there was.
- 2:14:28It's not the Boston Marathon. It was the Atlanta Olympics. Oh, I
- 2:14:33think I don't know what that was. It's his name, right, isn't
- 2:14:39his name the his name? I don't remember. Yeah, I've seen them
- 2:14:46my only guest. Yeah, and I don't know the name of that Atlanta
- 2:14:52movie. So I got nothing, Okay, Renegade, I mean, I
- 2:14:56honestly cannot think of that. Cla directed it. Yeah, I think the
- 2:15:01goddamn name of his mom is Kathy Bates. Yeah. God, I totally
- 2:15:05thought that that movie's good too. Is it? Actually, I liked it.
- 2:15:11I thought he was really good in it. Well, he's legit wonderful.
- 2:15:16I like him. You know, he's making a Chris Farley biopic apparently,
- 2:15:22no, which I love. Scared of that. I'm EXCAREDO. That's
- 2:15:26but he is pretty talenting. He had to love him too, so you
- 2:15:31know he's got to have him some reverence renegade. What do you think?
- 2:15:35I guess I got. I know then he gets that one. That was
- 2:15:39the one I was gonna guess. Uh, I was gonna say, Richard
- 2:15:43Jewell is the one you guys want Jewel? Which what is it? He
- 2:15:48was also probably in one thousand indies. Yeah, he was in super Troopers
- 2:15:50too, But the lowest grossing one that I see is something called Silk Road
- 2:15:56from twenty twenty one, one hundred and thirty eight thousand dollars. Interesting,
- 2:16:03Yeah, Hault Walter Hauser and then he was getting isn't even Kruella he was,
- 2:16:11But Kruella actually made more than Ititania it made two twenty five Actually that
- 2:16:16actually that was good. I liked it. Yeah, it was good.
- 2:16:20Another He was also in a movie this year that made one point two billion
- 2:16:24dollars moving on to the last one. For this, we still haven't got
- 2:16:30the theme. So far, we've said Amy Poehler, Mayahawk, Lewis Black,
- 2:16:33and Paul Walter Hauser. The last film today or the last person today
- 2:16:39will be John Retenberger, who was previously mentioned, which is funny John Retson?
- 2:16:50So is it people that were in Inside Out Too? Inside Out Too
- 2:16:56the highest grossing film currently of twenty twenty four at a point, Good job,
- 2:17:01buddy to get that it was just funny because we can thing. We
- 2:17:07kept saying it. It's funny. I loved it. So yeah, we're
- 2:17:13on mister Ratzenberger. Uh think I think it's Renegade's turn to go first.
- 2:17:24Of course, I'm trying to think of non Pixar that he's in. I
- 2:17:28can't think of any aside from cheers. I know that's what you could just
- 2:17:37go for the last the least popular film. He's actually been in a ton
- 2:17:43of crap too. All right, I'll go Cars too. Cars, ok,
- 2:18:01Why isn't it autos to Okay, there's cars to Cars to surprise,
- 2:18:05only five hundred and sixty million dollars. Yeah, Cars, That is the
- 2:18:18highest grossing cars movie. Stranger Let's go route next. Oh, you just
- 2:18:28gave me a hint. Maybe, Oh, you can't be able to take
- 2:18:33cars cars through You're right, and you can't take either of the cars movies.
- 2:18:37I'm sorry. Did they make planes? Wasn't that? That might have
- 2:18:43been a show. This has to be some This is some weird craft from
- 2:18:50like the early nineties one to see. Yeah, for sure, know what
- 2:18:54that is? I can't think of We're just going for against each other,
- 2:18:58you know, I'll say, Luca. Hopefully that wasn't a COVID just to
- 2:19:05Disney. Might have been. There's some good podcasting right here. Yeah,
- 2:19:13this website silent. I really thought this game was really fun for all of
- 2:19:20them, like that in your podcast. Hey, look everyone, maybe you
- 2:19:24need to just re rex. I think that was just maybe you're taking worldwide
- 2:19:31gross fifty million dollars. So Luca only made fifty millions. I think it
- 2:19:37was primarily on Netflix, like Rop said, But it was like during the
- 2:19:41pandemic, that cruise. I guess. I guess it's weird when they're not
- 2:19:46in the theater, you don't get the rat box office. It's a good
- 2:19:50guess. I thought that movie was lovely. That movie was I'm with you?
- 2:19:56What do you want to I always thought about misery a designed Maybe here
- 2:20:03you're not gonna get out of you. I don't think anybody like a Cheers
- 2:20:07movie. No, I don't know. I don't know. You didn't do
- 2:20:13a Hallmark movie. But you'll never get it. Yeah, actually, you
- 2:20:16know, you'd be surprised. I actually do watch a lot of those.
- 2:20:20But you're inside too. I don't know. I was hoping maybe some weird
- 2:20:26Rando eighties or nineties thing would come to me, right, you know,
- 2:20:31had like one scene, but I don't know. Man, that's all right.
- 2:20:35We'll just call it Rob the Winner, I think. Yeah, Toy
- 2:20:39Story four else that made one point oh just one billion, just over one
- 2:20:46billion, sure to. His lowest grossing is something from two thousand and nine
- 2:20:52called The Village Barber Shop, which made two thousand dollars worldwide. Sure,
- 2:20:56the one the Village Barber Shop. And maybe we've ever heard of was I've
- 2:21:01heard of that Darn Cat, which made eighteen eighteen million from nineteen ninety seven.
- 2:21:05I've heard of that I that darnt Wasn't that a remake from Oh so?
