- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:20Speaker 3: I don't think Scratch is going to be doing as
- 0:22Speaker 3: much of that as he is going to be helping
- 0:24Speaker 3: Rabel manage the clock situation. Yeah, yeah, did he go
- 0:27Speaker 3: to your school?
- 0:28Speaker 4: Pome? Was he graduate?
- 0:29Speaker 5: He has not taken the matriculated that I was not
- 0:32Speaker 5: taking the course. So we'll see Jerry's out on him.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Malcolm was sticking to the coach's decision answer.
- 0:38Speaker 4: What was that like for you guys when you were
- 0:40Speaker 4: you guys went to that Super Bowl?
- 0:42Speaker 1: Right?
- 0:42Speaker 4: You actually got to watch it?
- 0:43Speaker 5: Robbed some more of my Facebook memories that have just
- 0:45Speaker 5: been peppering me all week.
- 0:48Speaker 3: And I covered that team and that that offense was
- 0:51Speaker 3: already on the eighteen offense.
- 0:54Speaker 5: Right, take a step back all more time.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Drake won the ping pong championship last night. He's a killer.
- 1:03Speaker 4: I thin I'm gonna do a roast. I'm gonna try
- 1:05Speaker 4: to do a roast.
- 1:05Speaker 3: You're gonna do a roast. It's a little aggressive for
- 1:08Speaker 3: Super Bowl.
- 1:09Speaker 5: I just think it's kind of odd super Bowl fair. Yeah,
- 1:11Speaker 5: I don't think it's all that.
- 1:12Speaker 4: Harding oysters Rockefeller.
- 1:14Speaker 5: Not the tenders with no bone.
- 1:16Speaker 3: That's that's called a boneus chicken wing.
- 1:20Speaker 5: It's a tender. No, it's a tender.
- 1:21Speaker 3: It's a chick.
- 1:23Speaker 5: Why do you have to be stubborn?
- 1:25Speaker 6: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website for
- 1:30Speaker 6: deals buy a Toyota dot com.
- 1:34Speaker 4: All right, welcome into Patriots Unfiltered. That's right, everybody. It's
- 1:38Speaker 4: Deuce in the host chair today. Fred is worth is
- 1:40Speaker 4: Fred is tropical.
- 1:41Speaker 5: I don't know. We're gonna have to try to get
- 1:43Speaker 5: through without him.
- 1:44Speaker 4: Parts unknown body instructed us. I know we got to
- 1:47Speaker 4: recap a super Bowl. Of course. The big news Jeremiah
- 1:49Speaker 4: Farms resigned this morning, a cording to his agent. So
- 1:52Speaker 4: plenty to get here today. But we're officially in the offseason. Guys.
- 1:55Speaker 4: It's kind of a nice feeling now. The twenty twenty
- 1:58Speaker 4: four seasons back up behind us. Congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles,
- 2:02Speaker 4: your world champions and.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Super Bowl champions.
- 2:04Speaker 4: Super Bowl, just the super Bowl. There's a league in
- 2:07Speaker 4: Europe somewhere that maybe we don't know for sure, anybody
- 2:11Speaker 4: the Eagles would beat the rain fire or something of
- 2:13Speaker 4: that nature. Yeah, Ryan Rain You know, anyway, we're here,
- 2:19Speaker 4: Give us a call, give us an email, shout out,
- 2:21Speaker 4: just the three of us, guys, and uh, I guess
- 2:23Speaker 4: the place to start is the Super Bowl, the Eagles
- 2:27Speaker 4: blowing out the Chiefs. I don't want to spoil the
- 2:32Speaker 4: results from your from our pregame. What do you call
- 2:36Speaker 4: them odds that we were picking, But I felt like
- 2:39Speaker 4: I went into that pick of just like I was
- 2:41Speaker 4: so beaten down by the Chiefs. I'm just like, they're
- 2:42Speaker 4: just gonna figure it out, Like I just I don't
- 2:44Speaker 4: know what else to say. I feel terrible about it.
- 2:46Speaker 4: I'm gonna pick Patrick Mahomes to go off, I'm gonna
- 2:48Speaker 4: pick Travis Kelcey to go off, and I'm gonna pick
- 2:51Speaker 4: the Chiefs to somehow find a way to win that game.
- 2:53Speaker 4: And I kept waiting for it to happen. I kept
- 2:55Speaker 4: waiting for them to show signs of life. Too little,
- 2:58Speaker 4: too late. Never happened. And Pick six, Cooper de Gene.
- 3:02Speaker 4: That was probably the moment for me where I was like,
- 3:03Speaker 4: holy crap, this seems like it's happening today.
- 3:06Speaker 5: Yeah, the biggest upset to me was the fact that
- 3:09Speaker 5: Alex isn't here, because Alex was the only one who
- 3:11Speaker 5: picked Philadelphia. Oh and we all know that our girl
- 3:16Speaker 5: Alex can take a victory, so I'm very surprised she's not.
- 3:22Speaker 5: You know, the Kendrick halftime and all the commercials, the
- 3:25Speaker 5: pop culture aspect, I think that this would be prime
- 3:28Speaker 5: time for for young Alex. But we were talking about Yeah,
- 3:34Speaker 5: well I watched some of the commercials, maybe not as
- 3:36Speaker 5: close as Evan.
- 3:37Speaker 4: You watched them too, right.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I wasn't you know, I didn't take notes,
- 3:40Speaker 3: but I watched some of the commercials and halftime show obviously,
- 3:45Speaker 3: But we'll get to that. I can start with the football.
- 3:48Speaker 4: Start with the football. What what were your takeaways watching?
- 3:52Speaker 3: First of all, I just thought that I was most
- 3:55Speaker 3: surprised by the lack of answers that Andy Reid had
- 3:59Speaker 3: for Vic Fangio and and for that Eagles defense. They
- 4:01Speaker 3: looked totally outclassed coaching and personnel wise. But just watching
- 4:08Speaker 3: back some of the recaps of the game, I did
- 4:11Speaker 3: not break down the all twenty two because not my team,
- 4:14Speaker 3: but I just reading other people that did, it seemed
- 4:17Speaker 3: like Vangio just eventually got kind of simple and was
- 4:20Speaker 3: just rushing for and playing a lot of quarters and
- 4:23Speaker 3: cover three in the back end. And it wasn't anything
- 4:26Speaker 3: overly creative or exotic. It just they were playing better
- 4:31Speaker 3: defense and the Chiefs were capable of playing offense. And
- 4:35Speaker 3: I know a lot of the talking points out of
- 4:37Speaker 3: this game is about the trenches and building the line
- 4:40Speaker 3: of scrimmage like the Eagles did, and that's certainly a
- 4:43Speaker 3: big takeaway of mine as well. But there's a conversation
- 4:47Speaker 3: now that needs to be had if you're trying to
- 4:49Speaker 3: spin this towards the Patriots, of how to go about
- 4:51Speaker 3: doing that and in which side of the ball is takes,
- 4:54Speaker 3: you know, emphasis in which side is more important. But
- 4:58Speaker 3: it was cool to see that become a big talking
- 5:01Speaker 3: point and have people recognize the offensive and defensive line
- 5:05Speaker 3: play of Philadelphia and how dominant they were.
- 5:08Speaker 4: Do we do that too much? Paul? After a team
- 5:09Speaker 4: wins Super Bowl, you look at them and you say,
- 5:12Speaker 4: this is how that's it to do it.
- 5:13Speaker 5: That's it, right, that's it, you know, Yeah, that's it.
- 5:16Speaker 5: That's the way you win. That's the only way you win.
- 5:18Speaker 5: See what happens that's what you win. I just completely
- 5:21Speaker 5: I agree with everything you haven't said, completely dominant. You know,
- 5:24Speaker 5: for sixty full minutes, it was really not competitive at
- 5:28Speaker 5: any point. The one thing that I would say that
- 5:31Speaker 5: I would be a little bit different than most people,
- 5:34Speaker 5: and I'm not taking anything away from the Fangio aspect
- 5:38Speaker 5: or the simplicity of the game plan, just I just
- 5:42Speaker 5: felt like it really exacerbated the talent difference. And the
- 5:46Speaker 5: one thing that I said that I'm I said Kansas
- 5:49Speaker 5: City was going to win. So I'm not trying to
- 5:50Speaker 5: tell you now, oh, I actually, but I did make
- 5:54Speaker 5: one comment and I said, if if Jalen Hurts plays
- 5:57Speaker 5: similar to the way he played against Washington, I do
- 6:00Speaker 5: think that Philadelphia will win because I do think, and
- 6:03Speaker 5: I think Evin said this all last week. Philadelphia is
- 6:06Speaker 5: the better team. I thought the difference in quarterback was
- 6:09Speaker 5: going to be the difference in the game. Jalen Hurts
- 6:13Speaker 5: vastly outplayed Patrick Mahomes in this game, and I think
- 6:16Speaker 5: that's why they won. I know that everybody can point
- 6:20Speaker 5: to the fact that the Chiefs, you know, got completely
- 6:24Speaker 5: shut down. I think a big part of the reason
- 6:25Speaker 5: why they got shut down was less about being harried
- 6:28Speaker 5: and harassed. I know that's like the Mahomes apologists are
- 6:32Speaker 5: going to tell you we got sacks six times. And
- 6:34Speaker 5: I think he was terrible in this game. I think
- 6:36Speaker 5: he had place to make and didn't make them. He
- 6:39Speaker 5: kept throwing the ball into the ground. He kept making
- 6:42Speaker 5: his receivers make very difficult catches that shouldn't have been
- 6:45Speaker 5: that difficult. Now there was some drops there too. I
- 6:48Speaker 5: thought Kelsey showed his age a little bit, and the
- 6:50Speaker 5: DeAndre Hopkins drop was completely.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Retired, excusable retiring. He didn't.
- 6:55Speaker 5: That was a fake account, stupid Twitter. That was a
- 6:59Speaker 5: fake Adam Schefter account.
- 7:01Speaker 4: Yes, God, they got me.
- 7:02Speaker 5: But I will say Jalen Hurts was really really good
- 7:06Speaker 5: in this game, both with his legs and his arm.
- 7:09Speaker 5: And they're on what they're gonna put forty points on
- 7:13Speaker 5: the board. That defense isn't gonna lose well, you know,
- 7:16Speaker 5: let's say thirty three. So they had to pick six.
- 7:18Speaker 5: We'll call it thirty three. They're not going to lose
- 7:19Speaker 5: too many games doing that. I thought Mahomes was terrible. Again,
- 7:24Speaker 5: there's an overreaction, so not like he's not really he's
- 7:27Speaker 5: not really good at it, Like he's you know, like
- 7:29Speaker 5: that's just that's the game, you know, you know, he's
- 7:32Speaker 5: not really good. So I just let me just say
- 7:34Speaker 5: this before you guys can continue with the football. I
- 7:36Speaker 5: just want to congratulate the Patriots because evidently they won
- 7:40Speaker 5: on Sunday based on based on my Twitter Patriots, Patriots won.
- 7:46Speaker 5: Congratulations on a four and thirteen season that you won
- 7:49Speaker 5: somehow something.
- 7:50Speaker 4: Patrick Mahomes is out of the conversation. Tom Brady remains
- 7:54Speaker 4: the goat, and that'll remain as is, and that.
- 7:56Speaker 5: Was going to remain no matter what happened on Sunday.
- 7:59Speaker 5: Seven titles and seven to four is a big gap.
- 8:03Speaker 5: And now it's seven to three still.
- 8:04Speaker 4: So yeah, I just I got vibes early on in
- 8:06Speaker 4: the seven Super Bowl where you could just tell immediately
- 8:10Speaker 4: that the Giants came to.
- 8:11Speaker 5: You want to know, the only difference, you know is
- 8:13Speaker 5: Philadelphia is vastly better than that Giants team and they
- 8:16Speaker 5: were able to pull away. Yeah, because it was the
- 8:18Speaker 5: same thing.
- 8:19Speaker 4: Yep.
- 8:19Speaker 5: Yeah, the only difference was the Patriots were so much
- 8:22Speaker 5: better than the Giants two touchdown favorites. This was a
- 8:26Speaker 5: pickham game. This was a one point game. The teams
- 8:29Speaker 5: were even coming in and Philadelphia played as much better
- 8:33Speaker 5: as the Giants did. The Giants were better for sixty
- 8:36Speaker 5: minutes that day, but they just weren't good enough to
- 8:39Speaker 5: completely create separation. Philadelphia ended this game. I thought the
- 8:43Speaker 5: game was over in the first quarter. I mean, technically
- 8:45Speaker 5: it was probably the pick six in the second quarter. Yeah,
- 8:48Speaker 5: but I never thought this game was in doubt, just
- 8:50Speaker 5: based on the way it started.
- 8:51Speaker 4: It's one of the funny things. I know, you say
- 8:52Speaker 4: it a lot Bill used to say it, when a
- 8:54Speaker 4: game declares itself, you understand, and like, this is an
- 8:57Speaker 4: example to me of a game declaring its because it's
- 9:00Speaker 4: just so obvious. One team is here to play today
- 9:03Speaker 4: and they are on fire, and you know, off to
- 9:05Speaker 4: that as a coach, how do you get that audio
- 9:07Speaker 4: team in that spot? I mean, I think everyone respected
- 9:10Speaker 4: the Giants pass rush way back then, but just on
- 9:13Speaker 4: certain days you see certain teams come out and they
- 9:16Speaker 4: look prepared and they don't look tight, and they're ready
- 9:18Speaker 4: to go. And that was just what stood out to me.
- 9:21Speaker 4: But real quick programming, note, they are rerunning the super
- 9:23Speaker 4: Bowl here on the TV in front of us, So
- 9:25Speaker 4: if you hear us comment not quite red zone Paull,
- 9:28Speaker 4: but Super Bowl Paul, maybe I.
- 9:30Speaker 5: Got it on meaningful play in the game.
- 9:34Speaker 3: So I just going back to the whole team building
- 9:39Speaker 3: thing of it all. I think the part that gets
- 9:42Speaker 3: people optimistic about watching a game like that is you
- 9:47Speaker 3: don't have to necessarily no offense to Jalen Hurts, but
- 9:49Speaker 3: you don't necessarily have to have the unicorn quarterback to
- 9:53Speaker 3: get to the top of the mountain. And I think
- 9:55Speaker 3: what happens is is when you go from Brady running
- 9:59Speaker 3: the NFL just directly to Mahomes running the NFL, you
- 10:02Speaker 3: get this feeling of we can't win if we don't
- 10:06Speaker 3: have that kind of guy, Like, if we don't have
- 10:07Speaker 3: a generational talent at the quarterback position, then we're screwed.
- 10:11Speaker 3: And Jalen Hurts a really good quarterback. But the Eagles,
- 10:15Speaker 3: in the way that they've built up their roster, if
- 10:17Speaker 3: your owner invests in the roster, if you draft correctly,
- 10:20Speaker 3: you know they were able to really build a super
- 10:23Speaker 3: team around Jalen Hurts. And that's what you know how
- 10:26Speaker 3: they got here. I don't think Jalen Hurts on his
- 10:28Speaker 3: own gets you to this point if you're Philadelphia, But
- 10:31Speaker 3: I mean, just looking at their roster from top to bottom.
- 10:34Speaker 3: I mean it's absolutely loaded, and it's through all avenues.
- 10:37Speaker 3: You know, free agency, uh, Sakwon Barkley, you trade for
- 10:41Speaker 3: AJ Brown, you draft Georgia Bulldogs in the first.
- 10:45Speaker 5: Around every year, all across, right, it's it's high price
- 10:51Speaker 5: free agents, it's low priced free agents like Zach Baum.
- 10:54Speaker 5: You know, it's it's incredible drafting, it's you know, shrewd
- 10:58Speaker 5: trade like a J Brown. Like really good point that
- 11:00Speaker 5: it wasn't just one thing that they did right.
- 11:03Speaker 3: And and really however, that's why I think Howard Roseman
- 11:05Speaker 3: is the gold standard right now because Laurie gives him
- 11:09Speaker 3: the flexibility to spend the money and that that's big.
- 11:11Speaker 3: But they also just have this ability to find talent
- 11:14Speaker 3: everywhere and in spades, just all over the roster. Even
- 11:18Speaker 3: though you know you mentioned Zach Bond, Milton Williams has
- 11:21Speaker 3: a huge game, you know, third round draft pick at
- 11:24Speaker 3: a law tech like not someone that is you know,
- 11:27Speaker 3: necessarily super heralded coming out. Josh Sweat was a fourth
- 11:30Speaker 3: round draft pick a couple of years ago. So you're
- 11:33Speaker 3: you're finding these guys not just in the first round.
- 11:37Speaker 3: The one thing the Eagles do that. I think is
- 11:39Speaker 3: is also interesting with the draft, they they kind of
- 11:41Speaker 3: go consensus, like they draft a lot of the consensus
- 11:45Speaker 3: name brand. You know, we're gonna draft from Alabama, We're
- 11:48Speaker 3: gonna draft from Georgia. We're gonna draft Jalen Carter, we're
- 11:51Speaker 3: gonna we're gonna draft Avante Smith. Like they don't necessarily
- 11:55Speaker 3: go off the board too often and and you're like, oh,
- 11:57Speaker 3: like why did they draft that guy? Uh So they're
- 12:00Speaker 3: something to be said for that as well, But just
- 12:02Speaker 3: the way that they've completely built up that roster and
- 12:06Speaker 3: even going from like Jason Kelce to Cam Jurgens, who's
- 12:09Speaker 3: not as good as Jason Kelce, but it wasn't really
- 12:12Speaker 3: that major of a drop off going from a Hall
- 12:14Speaker 3: of Fame center to the next guy in line who
- 12:16Speaker 3: they had in waiting, you know.
- 12:18Speaker 5: For a couple of years with a second round pick.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:21Speaker 5: So it's again it's sort of doing what Belichick did
- 12:24Speaker 5: for years, right, identifying where the guys are starting to
- 12:28Speaker 5: age and getting replacements ready to go.
- 12:30Speaker 4: Yeah, well Fletcher Cox is aging up, you go, Jalen
- 12:33Speaker 4: Carter maybe at a certain point that we don't need him.
- 12:35Speaker 4: I'd even point out Nikobe Dean is another example of
- 12:37Speaker 4: a guy who he's too small, he falls a little bit,
- 12:40Speaker 4: but they're able to take a chance on him. He becomes,
- 12:43Speaker 4: you know, a good player despite some of the questions
- 12:45Speaker 4: that came out during the pre draft process. But I
- 12:48Speaker 4: just think it's to me, both teams are kind of
- 12:51Speaker 4: a testament to what you said of and I think
- 12:52Speaker 4: that the Chiefs, we pump them up for being really
- 12:55Speaker 4: good with their draft picks. And I went on with
- 12:57Speaker 4: with Arcam last night and that's what he asked me.
- 13:00Speaker 4: He's like, you know what, what's the model here? And
- 13:01Speaker 4: I just for me, it's the same thing. You got
- 13:03Speaker 4: a draft, Well, you got to hit on some of
- 13:05Speaker 4: these mid round guys that you know, Day two, late
- 13:08Speaker 4: Day two, early Day three picks that we a lot
- 13:11Speaker 4: of times consider throwaways. Got to hit on some of those.
- 13:13Speaker 4: And if you don't, you look at the Patriots roster
- 13:16Speaker 4: right now and you're like, we got a couple players.
- 13:18Speaker 4: I don't know what we have beyond that.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Yeah, he just doesn't overthink it how he rose. You know,
- 13:22Speaker 3: Cooper dejen was the fortieth overall pick. He was a
- 13:25Speaker 3: first round talent. Now he came into the draft hurt
- 13:27Speaker 3: and I think that was a big reason. But there
- 13:29Speaker 3: was also some questions of he's kind of a tweeter,
- 13:32Speaker 3: is he a corner? Is he a safety? Is he
- 13:33Speaker 3: really going to have the athleticism to play on the outside.
- 13:36Speaker 3: And Howie Roseman looked at it and said, football player.
- 13:39Speaker 3: You know, he's just a really good football player, and
- 13:41Speaker 3: we're gonna draft him. And as it turns out, looking
- 13:44Speaker 3: back on it, how did he get there?
- 13:46Speaker 4: Like?
- 13:46Speaker 3: How did he how did he wait around until the
- 13:48Speaker 3: fortieth pick? And the draft is now pretty shocking. You know,
- 13:52Speaker 3: Quinnon Mitchell just an awesome rookie as well, playing on
- 13:55Speaker 3: the outside from Toledo, and you go to the Senior
- 13:58Speaker 3: Bowl and you see him and he has this huge
- 14:00Speaker 3: week down there and mobile, and he's a consensus first
- 14:04Speaker 3: round pick ends up an eagle. Like those types of
- 14:06Speaker 3: picks are just all over their roster, and you know,
- 14:09Speaker 3: Hurts was a second round pick, like it just the
- 14:11Speaker 3: whole team is like that.
- 14:12Speaker 4: I mean, Paul mentioned Zach Bond and to me, I
- 14:14Speaker 4: imagine us being here, you know, in March, whatever the
- 14:17Speaker 4: year might be. And the Patriots signed a one year
- 14:20Speaker 4: deal a guy from the Saints who was a special
- 14:22Speaker 4: teamer and you kind of throw it away. You think
- 14:24Speaker 4: Christian Ellis, You're thinking one of those kind of guys.
- 14:27Speaker 4: And it's amazing how sometimes things start rolling personnel wise,
- 14:31Speaker 4: and it all just seems to click and you plug
- 14:33Speaker 4: a guy in and it seems to work because you know,
- 14:35Speaker 4: maybe you got a little bit extra talent up front,
- 14:37Speaker 4: it's a little bit easier. But you know, to draft
- 14:39Speaker 4: two impact players in the secondary like that, which you know,
- 14:42Speaker 4: coming into the season might have been one of their
- 14:44Speaker 4: biggest question marks. You knew they had a great front seven,
- 14:46Speaker 4: you knew they had a great offensive line, they had
- 14:48Speaker 4: the weapons in place, but they go out they add
- 14:50Speaker 4: Saquon Barkley kind of a Corey Dillon type move and
- 14:52Speaker 4: oh four where it puts you over the top. But
- 14:54Speaker 4: then you know, just to get that kind of play
- 14:56Speaker 4: from two rookies in a Super Bowl, I mean, it's like,
- 14:58Speaker 4: you know, it's kind of pa It's like, well, Malcolm Butler,
- 15:01Speaker 4: and you know when those guys like unheralded, but you
- 15:04Speaker 4: plug them into the right team in the right situation,
- 15:06Speaker 4: and the momentum starts rolling all of a sudden, you've
- 15:08Speaker 4: got something special. But yep, so are we too early on.
- 15:14Speaker 5: It was top to top to bottom, and it is
- 15:17Speaker 5: very impressive with the Eagles to put together. You know,
- 15:20Speaker 5: they were just there two years ago and they were
- 15:24Speaker 5: able to sort of retool and you know, just real quick,
- 15:28Speaker 5: you just rattled off three enormous names on that defense.
- 15:31Speaker 5: The defense was in shambles at this time last year.
- 15:34Speaker 5: They were ten and one. They had fallen apart. A
- 15:37Speaker 5: lot of it was internal turmoil between the coach and
- 15:40Speaker 5: especially the coach and the quarterback. They had a lot
- 15:43Speaker 5: of problems, but defensively they couldn't stop anybody. You get
- 15:46Speaker 5: those two rookie defensive backs and then you you have
- 15:49Speaker 5: a really quality signing with a linebacker. You bring in
- 15:53Speaker 5: an adult in the room and Vic Fangio, and all
- 15:56Speaker 5: of a sudden, everything is fixed. And I just would
- 16:00Speaker 5: this is the only thing, like I'm really impressed with Philadelphia.
- 16:03Speaker 5: Everything Evan said about Roseman, I the thousand percent agree with.
- 16:06Speaker 5: I really like the way they go about business. I
- 16:09Speaker 5: think they're very aggressive in their spending. I think that's
- 16:12Speaker 5: a big part of it too. I think they've been
- 16:13Speaker 5: at the top of the food chain when it comes
- 16:16Speaker 5: to spending on the roster. Again, I'm not talking with
- 16:19Speaker 5: my one. I'm not talking about the salary cap. I'm
- 16:21Speaker 5: talking about spending on talent. You know, like if you
- 16:25Speaker 5: want a number one receiver, you know, if it's Chris Godwin,
- 16:28Speaker 5: if it's t Higgins, whoever you are, you have to
- 16:31Speaker 5: pay for them. So you might say, well, that guy's
- 16:34Speaker 5: not perfect. He's not because they wouldn't be available if
- 16:36Speaker 5: they were. But you need to figure out who's good
- 16:39Speaker 5: for you and then pay accordingly and not be so
- 16:45Speaker 5: concerned with it. Just the one caution I have is
- 16:48Speaker 5: I think everybody says, well, that's the way to do it,
- 16:51Speaker 5: Like Mike you were teasing about at the beginning, like
- 16:53Speaker 5: the one off the snapshot, and I agree, that's a
- 16:56Speaker 5: great way to build a team. It's really hard to
- 16:58Speaker 5: do that. San Francisco is a very similar structure. They're
- 17:02Speaker 5: starting to lose some of those pieces now. But the
- 17:04Speaker 5: Niners with lynch In Evans's idol Shanahan did they did
- 17:11Speaker 5: it this way.
- 17:12Speaker 3: In overtime in the Super Bowl.
- 17:14Speaker 5: Right, it's we're gonna build. We're gonna have a stacked
- 17:16Speaker 5: roster with about I don't know, ten or twelve Pro
- 17:20Speaker 5: Bowl slash All Pro caliber players and then we're just
- 17:23Speaker 5: gonna plug in the quarterback will be good enough. Yeah,
- 17:27Speaker 5: they did Philadelphia. San Francisco did the same thing Philadelphia did.
- 17:31Speaker 5: It's really hard to do. Like you go back and
- 17:34Speaker 5: just rattle off those draft picks. There ain't a miss there,
- 17:39Speaker 5: like since Carson Wentz, Like, they have not had a
- 17:44Speaker 5: major whiff on one of those important picks. Every guy
- 17:47Speaker 5: that Evan mentioned is a like first or second round pick,
- 17:51Speaker 5: and they're all major contributors. It's the same thing that
- 17:54Speaker 5: San Francisco did. It's really hard to do. I just
- 17:57Speaker 5: would caution and say, well, that's how you have to
- 17:58Speaker 5: do it. It's like that remember that old Snickers commercial
- 18:01Speaker 5: with Marv Levy, Like you know, like the satisfied no
- 18:05Speaker 5: one's knowing and everybody's all excited. No one's leaving until
- 18:08Speaker 5: we figured out how to win. You know. It's just
- 18:10Speaker 5: like silence in the locker room. It's a lot easier
- 18:13Speaker 5: to just say, well, that's how you build the team,
- 18:16Speaker 5: build from the trenches, get there. Well, what if you
- 18:18Speaker 5: want to build from the trenches and instead of taking
- 18:21Speaker 5: you know, Landon Dickerson, you end up with Cole Strange,
- 18:24Speaker 5: Like you tried the same thing, Like the Patriots tried
- 18:27Speaker 5: it wrong guys, They got the wrong guys, you know,
- 18:31Speaker 5: Davate DeVante, that Nikhil Harry, Like there are high draft
- 18:37Speaker 5: picks being used on the same positions that Philadelphia used
- 18:40Speaker 5: them on, you didn't get the same caliber player.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree, and I would also the other cautionary
- 18:47Speaker 3: thing that I come out of this game with is
- 18:50Speaker 3: there's gonna be free agents from the Eagles roster, some
- 18:52Speaker 3: big guys, Zach Bond, Milton Williams.
- 18:55Speaker 5: Jo Sweat's gonna make it. Probably made himself some money.
- 18:59Speaker 3: But I would just be I'd be cautious about overpaying
- 19:04Speaker 3: for those guys because it worked in Philly when your
- 19:07Speaker 3: collect this collection of talent is around you. Yeah, and
- 19:12Speaker 3: all these guys are are sort of, uh, you know,
- 19:14Speaker 3: part of a one to eleventh of a defense. And
- 19:17Speaker 3: if you go out and you pay Josh Sweat like
- 19:20Speaker 3: he's supposed to be, you know, this double digit all
- 19:23Speaker 3: pro caliber edge rusher, double digitsac guy, I don't know
- 19:28Speaker 3: if it will be the same without Jalen Carter and
- 19:30Speaker 3: Milton Williams and those guys in the middle of the
- 19:33Speaker 3: defense pushing the line of scrimmage. And you know, guys
- 19:36Speaker 3: on the other side over the last couple of years
- 19:38Speaker 3: as well, Like I I just don't know, you know,
- 19:39Speaker 3: no one's smissed a hell of a football player, like
- 19:41Speaker 3: he's not going to be on the other side for him,
- 19:44Speaker 3: you know, Hassan Reddick before that, Like those guys make
- 19:48Speaker 3: an impact.
- 19:48Speaker 5: You know, in regard for the Patriots, how about taking
- 19:52Speaker 5: a run at Hassan Reddick's replacement and Bryce hoff who
- 19:55Speaker 5: was inactive in the game clearly not really part to
- 19:58Speaker 5: take it. See you what would take to get him?
- 20:01Speaker 3: It just feels like there's just a lot of that
- 20:04Speaker 3: of you know, let's just pay everybody on the Eagles
- 20:06Speaker 3: defense and bring them here.
- 20:07Speaker 5: Yeah, And that's why I like Mike's point about Zach Bond, Like, yeah,
- 20:11Speaker 5: maybe he's a little bit closer to what you saw
- 20:14Speaker 5: as an edge guy in New Orleans than what he
- 20:17Speaker 5: was as an off ball guy in Philadelphia without those
- 20:20Speaker 5: monsters in front of him protecting them. If I were Philly,
- 20:23Speaker 5: I would say, I know it works with him here,
- 20:25Speaker 5: I'm gonna resign. I'm gonna make sure I resigned him. Yeah,
- 20:28Speaker 5: but I'm not sure I would. I'm with Evan, I'm
- 20:29Speaker 5: not sure I would say, like, well, let's give him,
- 20:31Speaker 5: you know, eighty million dollars to come and be an
- 20:34Speaker 5: off ball linebacker for us. I'm not sure he's gonna translate.
- 20:37Speaker 4: To me, this all feels the same bucket as overreacting
- 20:41Speaker 4: to the Super Bowl winner and looking at how they
- 20:43Speaker 4: did it and saying, well, this is what we have
- 20:44Speaker 4: to do. And not only that, but we also could
- 20:47Speaker 4: use some of their players because their players are those
- 20:49Speaker 4: kind of championship you know, guys that had that pedigree. Now,
- 20:52Speaker 4: and I mean Milt Williams made himself a ton of money.
- 20:54Speaker 4: I'm sure same kind of thing. I mean, if I'm
- 20:56Speaker 4: the Patriots, I'm still considering those guys. I think those
- 20:58Speaker 4: guys would fit what they were going to do. You
- 21:00Speaker 4: on defense from Tennessee, if that's what they carry over.
- 21:03Speaker 4: But I want to talk to you guys about Kindnessee,
- 21:05Speaker 4: Like where do you go? Now? I look back at
- 21:07Speaker 4: ye know.
- 21:08Speaker 5: I've never players on offense that there's no reason that
- 21:12Speaker 5: what Evan described should shut you down. We're gonna run
- 21:16Speaker 5: like everybody's all over and let me just put it
- 21:19Speaker 5: this way. Let me just open it to Evan, So,
- 21:22Speaker 5: what would you have done if you were the Chiefs offensively,
- 21:25Speaker 5: Andy Reid, what would you have done to combat that?
- 21:29Speaker 3: Typically when you go up against Fangio in those types
- 21:33Speaker 3: of defenses, you have to nickel and dime, like you
- 21:35Speaker 3: have to get the you have to go with the
- 21:36Speaker 3: quick passing game, the underneath passing game, because their whole defense,
- 21:40Speaker 3: their whole structure is designed to take away big plays,
- 21:43Speaker 3: so that they're they're playing quarters, they're playing soft cover three.
- 21:46Speaker 3: On the back end. All they want to do is
- 21:48Speaker 3: make you march. They don't. They're not going to give
- 21:50Speaker 3: it away to you. So you know, could Patrick Mahomes
- 21:53Speaker 3: have gotten the ball out quicker? Could there have been
- 21:55Speaker 3: more designs of quick passing and things like that. I'm
- 21:58Speaker 3: sure there were. Like I said, I didn't like study
- 22:00Speaker 3: the film closely, but just in general, I think that's
- 22:05Speaker 3: how they want there. You're kind of playing into his
- 22:07Speaker 3: hands in a way with doing that, But if you're
- 22:09Speaker 3: really really efficient in doing it, like we've seen the
- 22:12Speaker 3: Chiefs be able to do before, then you can still
- 22:15Speaker 3: pull it off and you kind of shorten.
- 22:17Speaker 4: I agree with you.
- 22:18Speaker 5: I agree with everything you said, and I would just say,
- 22:20Speaker 5: like again, I'm like Evan, I don't. I didn't like
- 22:23Speaker 5: necessarily break this down. It's not my team's you know,
- 22:28Speaker 5: whatever it happened, there's two things that stuck out to me,
- 22:31Speaker 5: and I've heard a ton of criticism. Well, Andy Reid,
- 22:35Speaker 5: like he had no adjustments. They just kept rushing four
- 22:38Speaker 5: and they had no what do you like, you have
- 22:40Speaker 5: five offensive linemen to block their four guys? Should I
- 22:43Speaker 5: keep like two tight ends to make it six on four?
- 22:45Speaker 5: Like you need to get the ball out quick, right.
- 22:50Speaker 5: So the first part of it is the offensive line
- 22:52Speaker 5: was horrific, including everybody's favorite Joe Toney.
- 22:56Speaker 3: All right playing out a position.
- 22:57Speaker 5: Now he's out of position. Okay, everybody was him because
- 23:09Speaker 5: he's a guard. Yeah, okay, So they got completely overwhelmed
- 23:13Speaker 5: up front. But the bigger problem to me was Patrick Mahomes,
- 23:17Speaker 5: who picked the wrong day to have a really bad game.
- 23:20Speaker 5: He kept trying, to Evan's point, instead of taking the
- 23:23Speaker 5: little dink and dunks, he kept trying to make plays
- 23:27Speaker 5: and he kept trying for kill shots running around that
- 23:30Speaker 5: the pick to dig that like that was awful. That
- 23:33Speaker 5: was Mac Jones like like his little like roll one way,
- 23:37Speaker 5: throwing it back the other way. It was a terrible,
- 23:40Speaker 5: terrible play, just trying to do too much, and when
- 23:42Speaker 5: he wasn't trying to do too much, his guys were
- 23:44Speaker 5: letting him down. I just don't think they're good enough
- 23:47Speaker 5: offensively with their players. Now, maybe that will change when
- 23:50Speaker 5: they get Rice back, But they didn't have guys. I
- 23:54Speaker 5: thought that they played very vanilla defense and they were
- 23:57Speaker 5: not getting over Like you're watching these plays and like, yeah,
- 24:00Speaker 5: he could have caught that, but he's not really open there.
- 24:02Speaker 5: He's like having a you know, the throws are a
- 24:05Speaker 5: little bit low because Kelsey's not the same guy anymore. Yeah,
- 24:09Speaker 5: you know, And he didn't have a good game. Yeah,
- 24:11Speaker 5: I thought he had a couple of plays on third downs.
- 24:14Speaker 5: This whole game could have been a lot different if
- 24:16Speaker 5: you catch a couple of those third down passes early
- 24:18Speaker 5: in the game, right that I thought were catchable. Sure,
- 24:21Speaker 5: and then mahomes man, was he bad. I'm I'll just
- 24:24Speaker 5: say it. I thought he was terrible.
- 24:26Speaker 3: There was a lot of Patriots vibes of like the
- 24:29Speaker 3: down years, the down years, I say in air quote
- 24:31Speaker 3: for where like they just didn't have enough offensively and
- 24:34Speaker 3: they were kind of putting it together, whether it was
- 24:37Speaker 3: the offensive line in like twenty fifteen, or it was
- 24:39Speaker 3: the receivers in five six, you know that rang.
- 24:42Speaker 5: Yeah, So I think it's a great comedy right where.
- 24:44Speaker 3: They're just kind of putting it together. And that's what
- 24:45Speaker 3: it felt like with the Chiefs. You know, they trade
- 24:47Speaker 3: for DeAndre Hopkins in season to try to put a
- 24:50Speaker 3: band aid on a bigger wound, and it just didn't
- 24:53Speaker 3: really seem to ever take hold with Hopkins and Travis
- 24:57Speaker 3: Kelcey to me is nearing the end, if not our
- 25:00Speaker 3: already there. So he's not a centerpiece item on your
- 25:03Speaker 3: offense anymore. I really like Rice, but he's going to
- 25:06Speaker 3: be coming off a major injury and so we'll see,
- 25:08Speaker 3: and I think we'rethy, you know, prove that he can
- 25:10Speaker 3: be a good player.
- 25:11Speaker 5: Now.
- 25:11Speaker 3: A lot of that happened in garbage time.
- 25:13Speaker 5: But he had a big next year. Yeah, he had
- 25:17Speaker 5: a good end.
- 25:18Speaker 3: Of the year, really good postseason, So I don't think
- 25:21Speaker 3: it was just the garbage time. I agree, Stat's in
- 25:23Speaker 3: the Super Bowl for him. But they have to shore
- 25:25Speaker 3: up left tackle, like they have to have a real
- 25:27Speaker 3: solution at left tackle, which they haven't been able to do,
- 25:31Speaker 3: whether that's drafted and develop or signing somebody smith, Yeah,
- 25:35Speaker 3: which is definitely possible.
- 25:37Speaker 4: I just I don't think we've heard the last of
- 25:39Speaker 4: Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, but I do there's been
- 25:42Speaker 4: a lot of that. I I mean, we spent I
- 25:45Speaker 4: don't know, we've spent so much time over the last years, really,
- 25:51Speaker 4: you know, just making the constant comparison to the Patriots
- 25:54Speaker 4: and this Chiefs team and based on this game. Do
- 25:58Speaker 4: you does this have some kind of packed on how
- 26:00Speaker 4: you view Patrick? I know, well he'll be back, but
- 26:02Speaker 4: that is this just a one off? I mean, is
- 26:04Speaker 4: there any truth to what people are saying about? Well, Patriots?
- 26:07Speaker 4: Then we got blown out like that, Like they always
- 26:08Speaker 4: kind of made a run. They always kind of found
- 26:10Speaker 4: out before. Yeah, right, and what did that do? They
- 26:13Speaker 4: went to like three of the next four. But do
- 26:15Speaker 4: you think that this is something that is a characteristic
- 26:19Speaker 4: of their run that's going to be talked about that?
- 26:21Speaker 5: Oh, I don't know. You know, you guys can talk.
- 26:24Speaker 3: It depends on how many they actually end up winning,
- 26:27Speaker 3: I guess. But like I think the biggest thing to me,
- 26:29Speaker 3: and I said this on Cash twenty two last week,
- 26:32Speaker 3: it was just getting kind of annoying that that was
- 26:35Speaker 3: the prevailing narrative out of this game was is this
- 26:38Speaker 3: the greatest dynasty we've ever seen? Not because I necessarily
- 26:41Speaker 3: think that they don't deserve their flowers, but it just
- 26:44Speaker 3: it just was like, this is the only topic we
- 26:46Speaker 3: have to talk about.
- 26:46Speaker 5: I just think we're just trying to make it about us,
- 26:49Speaker 5: Like how can we get into this, how can we
- 26:51Speaker 5: get emotionally? It's like, did you see Jim Murray yesterday? Yeah,
- 26:54Speaker 5: Like Jim Murray was hilarious.
- 26:56Speaker 4: Positively.
- 26:58Speaker 3: There for two weeks down Kansas City. Kansas City, Like
- 27:03Speaker 3: there was real conversation happening on your station last week
- 27:07Speaker 3: about whether or not the Chiefs were a better dynasty
- 27:09Speaker 3: than the Patriots and at this point, but no, it
- 27:13Speaker 3: overall it was all.
- 27:15Speaker 5: Station more than any homes or Brady.
- 27:17Speaker 3: It will see your gronk correct as of now, and
- 27:21Speaker 3: as of now, it's not close.
- 27:22Speaker 5: No, it is the seventh the seven year period is
- 27:25Speaker 5: better for Kansas City than it wasn't. Okay, but but
- 27:28Speaker 5: that's half of that. But that's what they're happening there.
- 27:31Speaker 5: But that's what they're comparing. I don't think so you
- 27:34Speaker 5: don't like, don't fall into the trap of listening to
- 27:38Speaker 5: the bomb bast That's what they were comparing, is the
- 27:40Speaker 5: first seven start?
- 27:43Speaker 3: Would you rather Andy Reid er Bill Belichick?
- 27:46Speaker 5: Well, that one's that one's the the entirety because it's
- 27:51Speaker 5: comparable the other one. One guy who's only played seven
- 27:54Speaker 5: years but Brady played twenty. Like it's only it's it's apples, grapefruits.
- 27:59Speaker 3: I understand why people like Jim Murray and other Patriots
- 28:03Speaker 3: fans are now taking I thought that was two Dolphins
- 28:07Speaker 3: taking their victory lap whenever the last undefeated team loses
- 28:10Speaker 3: the game.
- 28:11Speaker 5: Right, it's not even close. It's the exact same one
- 28:14Speaker 5: thing never happened, you know. I understand why Miami does it,
- 28:19Speaker 5: and I think they're kind of tool bags for doing
- 28:20Speaker 5: it too.
- 28:21Speaker 4: To be honest, Therury Morris.
- 28:25Speaker 3: I understand why if you're one of those Patriots fans
- 28:28Speaker 3: that's that's taking a victory lap right now and saying, see,
- 28:31Speaker 3: you are a little premature with all of that talk,
- 28:34Speaker 3: weren't you? And I'm right there with you. I don't
- 28:36Speaker 3: I think it, don't think you take you take your time,
- 28:39Speaker 3: you deserve it.
- 28:40Speaker 4: What do you what would you do if you're Kansas City? Though?
- 28:42Speaker 4: I mean, I like, like last year. We're kind of
- 28:44Speaker 4: jealous they got Sue Matia, right, I felt like they
- 28:47Speaker 4: got the guy, and then you know, it's just to me.
- 28:50Speaker 4: It also illustrates that even when you're taking the moves
- 28:54Speaker 4: that makes sense, maybe the moves that we would have
- 28:56Speaker 4: liked in the draft, it's not always gonna work out
- 28:58Speaker 4: with what if.
- 28:59Speaker 5: That's if that's the guy, Like, that's what these other
- 29:02Speaker 5: teams have done, that's what the Eagles did at center.
- 29:05Speaker 4: Stick with them. You get a.
- 29:06Speaker 5: Second round guy to replace the guy in maybe two
- 29:10Speaker 5: years down the road, three years down the road, he's
- 29:11Speaker 5: the guy.
- 29:12Speaker 4: I guess the question I wondered if he.
- 29:13Speaker 5: Wasn't good when he played as like out of the shoe? Yeah,
- 29:16Speaker 5: has he even played since September?
- 29:18Speaker 4: Right? Well, that's what That's what I'm kind of getting at,
- 29:19Speaker 4: because you know, I went on again with our Kim
- 29:21Speaker 4: last night talking a little bit about last year's draft class.
- 29:23Speaker 4: So you know, is the Chiefs or the Chiefs more
- 29:26Speaker 4: likely to invest in Sue ma teer give him another
- 29:29Speaker 4: chance than the Patriots are with Kaden Wallace on the
- 29:31Speaker 4: right side. I mean, similar kind of disappointing years. I
- 29:33Speaker 4: can't go exactly Apple's taples of who played what and
- 29:36Speaker 4: how well?
- 29:37Speaker 5: But to get a chance to play, Yeah, but.
- 29:41Speaker 4: Can you take more time when you don't know if
- 29:43Speaker 4: you know it's going to be good. But I think I.
- 29:45Speaker 3: Think if you're the Chiefs, you take less time because
- 29:47Speaker 3: you're in a win now mode where you know you
- 29:50Speaker 3: can't afford to just put out a rookie there just
- 29:52Speaker 3: for developmental purposes. And I think this was down the stretch.
- 29:55Speaker 3: And I know Cayden Wallace had his injuries and had
- 29:58Speaker 3: issues staying healthy. But you know when you see them
- 30:01Speaker 3: rolling out guys like Trade Jacobs and guys like Vederian Lowe,
- 30:04Speaker 3: and it's like, these guys aren't part of the future.
- 30:06Speaker 3: They're not They're not gonna be here. Whereas with the Chiefs,
- 30:09Speaker 3: it's like, how can we get the best five offensive
- 30:12Speaker 3: linemen on the field to play in the Super Bowl?
- 30:14Speaker 3: Like not worrying about the best five.
- 30:16Speaker 5: For which if you know, and I'll be I'll be honest,
- 30:19Speaker 5: like that's why Joe Toney's playing tackle, right. Were just
- 30:22Speaker 5: shooting a shot to try to get the five best
- 30:25Speaker 5: out there. It didn't work there, you know, at the start,
- 30:29Speaker 5: but they got away with it against Buffalo. They didn't
- 30:31Speaker 5: get away with it. Against Philly.
- 30:32Speaker 3: There were conversations about I can't remember the exact combination
- 30:36Speaker 3: of players, but there there were. They did have some
- 30:39Speaker 3: options to kick Tuney back inside and start a different
- 30:45Speaker 3: maybe Kings, you know, Sue Matia again or something like that. Again,
- 30:49Speaker 3: I don't know the exact particulars, but they decided to
- 30:52Speaker 3: stick with Tuny at left tackle, and it was kind
- 30:55Speaker 3: of disastrous, Like, not only was he not very good,
- 30:58Speaker 3: that the other guy wasn't good. The left guard replacement
- 31:00Speaker 3: wasn't good either, So they kind of made two spots
- 31:02Speaker 3: weaker by doing that.
- 31:03Speaker 5: But which is why I wouldn't have done it. I
- 31:05Speaker 5: would have lived with DJ Humphreys at left tackle, and
- 31:08Speaker 5: I would have let Mahomes at least go in and say, well,
- 31:11Speaker 5: I know I'm gonna be okay in the middle. The interior,
- 31:14Speaker 5: I'm not going to face anything, you know there, but
- 31:16Speaker 5: I'll have to worry about the edges this. You had
- 31:18Speaker 5: to worry about everything.
- 31:19Speaker 4: As we've learned the Patriots most important part don't let
- 31:21Speaker 4: that instant pressure run right up. So game out a
- 31:25Speaker 4: little bit out of the way. But I gotta ask
- 31:26Speaker 4: you guys, about your game watching experience, your food.
- 31:28Speaker 3: Oh yeah, how is your roast?
- 31:30Speaker 4: That's a long story. No, no, it turned out fine.
- 31:35Speaker 4: I can't believe you did a roast well, And it
- 31:37Speaker 4: turned out it wasn't exactly a roast. I mean what
- 31:40Speaker 4: happened was I have my eye on a certain product
- 31:43Speaker 4: at Trader Shows, which turned out to be a pre
- 31:45Speaker 4: cooked roast. So I just threw this little box of
- 31:49Speaker 4: meat into the oven and heated it up for about
- 31:51Speaker 4: twenty minutes, and everyone was very happy. So I didn't
- 31:53Speaker 4: exactly make a roast. I kind of just had like
- 31:55Speaker 4: a pre made beefing. So it didn't quite work out
- 31:58Speaker 4: that well.
- 31:58Speaker 5: But I I made some taco dip Joe's pre cooked roast.
- 32:03Speaker 5: I remind me not to take up any of those
- 32:06Speaker 5: Super Bowls.
- 32:06Speaker 3: But I said you were going to make a roast.
- 32:08Speaker 3: I was with you.
- 32:10Speaker 4: I know, you know how you're like looking down the
- 32:13Speaker 4: barrel of like this is gonna be an all day affair.
- 32:15Speaker 4: We're gonna have to have like meet thermometers and stuff
- 32:17Speaker 4: trying to figure out how to make that perfect pink.
- 32:19Speaker 4: And then you know the thing I have my eye
- 32:21Speaker 4: on was I'm like, oh crap, it's already I thought
- 32:23Speaker 4: this was something I was gonna have to cook, but
- 32:25Speaker 4: it's pre It was not only pre cooked, it was pre.
- 32:27Speaker 3: Sliced as well.
- 32:28Speaker 4: I don't even have to cook things. So lazy, but
- 32:32Speaker 4: it worked out fine. Let's work, get to watch the
- 32:34Speaker 4: game plenty of the game. Made some taco dip as well,
- 32:37Speaker 4: so you know, I did work some apps in there.
- 32:39Speaker 4: I know Fred will be upset with me not not
- 32:41Speaker 4: having all the apps, but.
- 32:43Speaker 3: We did apps. We were at a bar Chicken. You
- 32:46Speaker 3: went to a bar, local establishment with with Barthy watched it.
- 32:53Speaker 5: All coming together.
- 32:53Speaker 3: We watch the Super Bowl together every year. I know
- 32:55Speaker 3: it's adorable.
- 32:56Speaker 5: They did the kid and play dance after my homes
- 32:58Speaker 5: got sacked.
- 33:00Speaker 3: But after Zavante Smith touchdown. That was probably the most
- 33:03Speaker 3: excited that we were as a as a table because
- 33:06Speaker 3: that that was like we were kind of joking about
- 33:09Speaker 3: twenty eight to three when it was like twenty seven
- 33:11Speaker 3: twenty and so lots of that.
- 33:15Speaker 5: I saw a meme about that, and they put the
- 33:18Speaker 5: two scores. It was twenty eight to three with like
- 33:20Speaker 5: two in change in the third quarter in twenty such.
- 33:23Speaker 4: I made the t shirts come such a loser.
- 33:25Speaker 5: Twenty seven to nothing with like two in change, and
- 33:28Speaker 5: I'm thinking to twelve, Kansas City actually scored twenty two
- 33:34Speaker 5: points and the rest of the game like it wasn't all.
- 33:36Speaker 5: They were down by more points than the Patriots were
- 33:39Speaker 5: and they didn't quite get you know, but the bigger
- 33:43Speaker 5: thing was Philly just kept scoring Like that makes it
- 33:46Speaker 5: even more ridiculous that they scored twenty two points in
- 33:49Speaker 5: the last quarter plus you know whatever. Now it was
- 33:53Speaker 5: all garbage time, complete garbage time. I don't think even
- 33:56Speaker 5: a single point was scored while the Eagles were engaged.
- 33:59Speaker 5: Was all garbage.
- 34:00Speaker 4: I was in krib they scored. I was in Cryberry,
- 34:03Speaker 4: crybaby Patriots mode at that point because I was like,
- 34:05Speaker 4: of course they're gonna they're gonna offset twenty eight to three.
- 34:08Speaker 3: It's gonna be better than twenty eight to three.
- 34:10Speaker 4: But then I was gonna make it.
- 34:12Speaker 5: Possibly even spend one second thinking that that was gonna
- 34:15Speaker 5: happen back game because Patrick.
- 34:18Speaker 3: Tom Brady, he tells me Patrick Mahomes is just as
- 34:22Speaker 3: good the old station.
- 34:24Speaker 5: And I just told you he did what Brady did.
- 34:27Speaker 5: The defense didn't do what Brady's defense did. They didn't
- 34:30Speaker 5: take the ball away and give him short fields. They
- 34:32Speaker 5: didn't They didn't stop them Brady, but he scored like
- 34:36Speaker 5: Brady scored twenty five points in the last seventeen minutes
- 34:40Speaker 5: and Mahomes scored twenty two. He was down by more
- 34:43Speaker 5: and didn't have any help from the defense the way
- 34:46Speaker 5: that Brady did.
- 34:46Speaker 4: You're making me feel worse about it now.
- 34:48Speaker 5: I just can't believe that you spend any time, even
- 34:51Speaker 5: worrying for a split second, that Mahomes can pull off
- 34:54Speaker 5: this miracle. He was so bad in that game. He
- 34:57Speaker 5: was way worse than Brady was in the first half
- 34:59Speaker 5: of the in a game way worse. There was no
- 35:02Speaker 5: indication that Mahomes was going to do that.
- 35:04Speaker 3: But mostly we did do apps just to let you
- 35:06Speaker 3: know what we have.
- 35:07Speaker 4: Boneless chick.
- 35:09Speaker 3: No, no, we did. We did bone and wings. Good
- 35:11Speaker 3: for you, congratulations like adults.
- 35:14Speaker 4: Like adults.
- 35:15Speaker 5: We did underrated credit.
- 35:18Speaker 3: Underrated app pretzel bites or like soft pretzel.
- 35:22Speaker 4: Beer sauce or something.
- 35:23Speaker 3: Yeah, honey mustard, underrated some buffalo chicken dip was it
- 35:28Speaker 3: was at the table, always always good, always good. So
- 35:31Speaker 3: we we had a good time. It was it's an
- 35:34Speaker 3: annual tradition.
- 35:36Speaker 4: Hey, Patriots fans, if you want to see Toyota's best offers,
- 35:39Speaker 4: including those not seen on TV, go to buy at
- 35:41Speaker 4: toyota dot com. It's Toyota's official website for deals from
- 35:45Speaker 4: the official vehicle of the New England Patriots, Toyota. Let's
- 35:48Speaker 4: go places. Do you guys have any any drinks while
- 35:50Speaker 4: you were there? Because if you did, you shout out
- 35:51Speaker 4: of bud Light, which is easy to drink, easy to enjoy.
- 35:54Speaker 4: Bud Light, the official beer sponsor of the New England Patriots.
- 35:57Speaker 4: Got some reads out of the way right there we
- 35:58Speaker 4: go did not have any less seamless.
- 36:01Speaker 5: I had a handful of millow Lights, but a little wine.
- 36:05Speaker 4: Not really. I didn't really like going out after I
- 36:07Speaker 4: rough my games.
- 36:08Speaker 5: I was your legs crossed in that way that you
- 36:11Speaker 5: tend to do this.
- 36:12Speaker 3: I notice he's not doing it.
- 36:14Speaker 4: Sorry, I don't want to like Paul puts his foot
- 36:16Speaker 4: on the furniture like I thought your mom would yell
- 36:18Speaker 4: at you for that.
- 36:19Speaker 3: I think your elbows off the table.
- 36:21Speaker 4: How comfortable are you?
- 36:22Speaker 7: Like?
- 36:22Speaker 4: Let's go?
- 36:23Speaker 5: They did do a not comfortable at all in these chairs.
- 36:26Speaker 3: They did a pizza eating contest at halftime, and this
- 36:32Speaker 3: is when I decided that maybe it was time time
- 36:36Speaker 3: to slow down. You were getting that the noons a
- 36:39Speaker 3: little bit because they were starting to creep up on
- 36:44Speaker 3: on Kendrick in the halftime show, and I was like,
- 36:48Speaker 3: if they don't put the volume on the game back
- 36:50Speaker 3: on for the halftime show, I'm going to lose it.
- 36:53Speaker 3: And I might have screamed across the bar to tell
- 36:55Speaker 3: them to the pizza contest, but luckily they ended it
- 37:00Speaker 3: right right on time. But like, did we really need that?
- 37:03Speaker 3: That was my one, my one nippick.
- 37:06Speaker 4: Of my Well have you brought up the halftime show?
- 37:07Speaker 4: I'm just gonna I'm just gonna look, I don't know
- 37:11Speaker 4: anything about the beef with Drake. I needed cliff notes
- 37:13Speaker 4: for it. I thought it was fine. I I to me,
- 37:16Speaker 4: it was every Super Bowl halftime show I've ever watched
- 37:18Speaker 4: or not watched. But you know, I know there's a lot.
- 37:20Speaker 5: Of the person on the planet who knows less about
- 37:23Speaker 5: pop culture.
- 37:24Speaker 4: I'm embracing my ignorance in this regard because it feels
- 37:26Speaker 4: like it's gonna save me from getting into any arguments.
- 37:29Speaker 4: Because I was just like, I don't know what's going on,
- 37:30Speaker 4: but that sounds fine.
- 37:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I have a brief statement to me, Yeah, but
- 37:33Speaker 5: I liked it, didn't love it, that's all, ev Flo.
- 37:40Speaker 3: I thought that the cellist could have been better. I
- 37:44Speaker 3: thought that he didn't He went with the Let's kill
- 37:48Speaker 3: Drake Slash promote my current album intor approach, which I
- 37:52Speaker 3: I totally can can understand. But for you know, us
- 37:57Speaker 3: O G. Kendrick fans like you would have liked to
- 37:59Speaker 3: have heard some more hits. But the hits of the
- 38:02Speaker 3: of the hits, you know, kid Mad City to Pimp
- 38:04Speaker 3: a Butterfly, you know, Section eighty, maybe have it that one,
- 38:08Speaker 3: you know, like anything from those you know, like Humble
- 38:11Speaker 3: and DNA are like party starters, So I get that,
- 38:13Speaker 3: like I get that those those are mixed in there,
- 38:15Speaker 3: but I thought some of the other songs, and obviously,
- 38:17Speaker 3: you know, he had Luther with with SiZ because he
- 38:19Speaker 3: had to you know, include in the performance, so that
- 38:23Speaker 3: that was important. But you know, in general, that's how
- 38:27Speaker 3: I felt. I thought it was a very good performance,
- 38:30Speaker 3: but I thought the set list could have been tweaked
- 38:33Speaker 3: a little bit to make it a little bit more
- 38:36Speaker 3: for the casuals, to like make it a little bit
- 38:38Speaker 3: more exciting, like, you know, a little bit more energy
- 38:41Speaker 3: because I feel like that's the big the big the
- 38:45Speaker 3: hating that I've heard a lot of is that it
- 38:47Speaker 3: was kind of low energy ish.
- 38:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I like I said, I liked it,
- 38:53Speaker 5: I didn't love it. It wasn't moved I gavi. You know,
- 38:58Speaker 5: there was a lot of stuff that wasn't from so
- 39:00Speaker 5: I know, I'll just stay in my lane. Uh, definitely
- 39:04Speaker 5: wasn't from my Mike has no at least I at
- 39:07Speaker 5: least I know, like the Drake.
- 39:09Speaker 4: He doesn't like Drake. And then I was like, oh,
- 39:10Speaker 4: I told these guys not.
- 39:12Speaker 5: Liking it a little bit.
- 39:13Speaker 4: That's I was Serena Williams. What's she doing here? She's
- 39:16Speaker 4: doing a little dance, Like I don't know, I you know,
- 39:19Speaker 4: I find there's all, you know, there's all kinds of
- 39:21Speaker 4: subtexts going on. So I apologize that he's.
- 39:23Speaker 3: Also from Compton, which is where Kendrick is from.
- 39:26Speaker 4: Okay, Okay. And it was this west coast, East coast
- 39:28Speaker 4: thing we're talking about.
- 39:29Speaker 3: No, it's not Drakes from.
- 39:32Speaker 4: Canada, Wayne Canada and Canada. As they say commercials, I
- 39:37Speaker 4: don't really know when the good commercial is supposed to
- 39:39Speaker 4: go on. You know, the commercials just come on I'm like,
- 39:41Speaker 4: what are the good ones? Where are the expensive ones?
- 39:43Speaker 4: We're the ones that I'm supposed to pay attention. The
- 39:45Speaker 4: only one that really stood out to me was the
- 39:47Speaker 4: Duncan one, which I kind of was like, I wanted
- 39:50Speaker 4: to see a little more. And then Jordan shows up
- 39:52Speaker 4: with Bill and I thought that was great.
- 39:54Speaker 3: Thought that was great.
- 39:55Speaker 4: I love seeing Jordan there. I know.
- 39:57Speaker 5: Only thing I thought I thought Jeremy Strong was funny.
- 40:02Speaker 5: Now I don't even know if it was the one
- 40:03Speaker 5: on TV.
- 40:04Speaker 4: I know because there are a bunch of I saw
- 40:06Speaker 4: a clip.
- 40:06Speaker 5: That was like a seven minute clip on YouTube yesterday
- 40:10Speaker 5: and the only thing that made me even smirk, let
- 40:12Speaker 5: alone laugh smile was Jeremy Strong doing like the method
- 40:16Speaker 5: acting things coming out of their coffee. And you know,
- 40:19Speaker 5: maybe it's because I liked him, and I really liked
- 40:21Speaker 5: him in succession, but I'm the eldest boy, like I
- 40:25Speaker 5: just I like him. The rest of it did nothing
- 40:28Speaker 5: for me. The little kid was Okay, this is a
- 40:30Speaker 5: kid from I guess he's from Gloucester. Oh oh yeah,
- 40:33Speaker 5: make fun of them, you know.
- 40:35Speaker 4: I know I need to, I need to. I don't know.
- 40:37Speaker 4: There there was last year's I liked with having Brady
- 40:40Speaker 4: in it and David. I don't know that last year's
- 40:41Speaker 4: made me chuckle with Brady just being on the on
- 40:43Speaker 4: the scratcher. But I was so primed up with Jordan
- 40:46Speaker 4: after she was at NFL Honors last week and then
- 40:49Speaker 4: when she popped up, I was like, of course, of
- 40:50Speaker 4: course Bill's like, I'll do it, but put her in
- 40:53Speaker 4: it too.
- 40:55Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 40:56Speaker 3: I thought the best commercial was Seal as Seal. I
- 40:58Speaker 3: thought that that was funny, but also so it was
- 41:04Speaker 3: the I think it was a Mountain Dew commercial, Baja
- 41:06Speaker 3: Blast and you know this the singer Seal right, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 41:14Speaker 3: very very good, like that Dunkings I thought had potential,
- 41:19Speaker 3: but I just I don't understand.
- 41:21Speaker 4: And goes for it like I respect, like Ben goes
- 41:23Speaker 4: for it in those that like I like he totally.
- 41:26Speaker 3: I thought it was better with Damon. I thought it
- 41:28Speaker 3: was better with him than with his brother. And I
- 41:30Speaker 3: also this is me now, like it's like did the
- 41:33Speaker 3: Jordans include like I just why, like who, like she's
- 41:37Speaker 3: famous for nothing? They didn't give her a line dating Bill,
- 41:40Speaker 3: like he just doesn't need to be here. But yeah,
- 41:42Speaker 3: that's okay, that's not it's not that big of a deal.
- 41:44Speaker 4: All right, well, you guys chime in on all this stuff.
- 41:47Speaker 4: Patty's been holding on for a bit. We'll check in
- 41:49Speaker 4: with him to kick things off, as we often do.
- 41:51Speaker 4: Patty and aguam, Hey, Patty, Hey, what's going on. Let's
- 41:58Speaker 4: getta do the fred Patty. That's not like you usually
- 42:02Speaker 4: He's ready.
- 42:03Speaker 5: Yeah, he's not to go on.
- 42:07Speaker 4: I started to call back.
- 42:09Speaker 5: This is why I seriously wish he was talking to
- 42:11Speaker 5: you guys here, because I didn't. I feel like I
- 42:14Speaker 5: didn't really see most of the commercials. The only thing
- 42:17Speaker 5: I watched, like I said, but yesterday I watched the
- 42:20Speaker 5: Duncans dunkings thing. I didn't really see most of the
- 42:25Speaker 5: other ones. I mean, I saw the visual. That's why
- 42:28Speaker 5: I knew when he said seal as seal, I knew
- 42:30Speaker 5: what you were talking about. I didn't really hear the like.
- 42:32Speaker 4: I get it is that theing on with the Wiener
- 42:34Speaker 4: dogs running. There are a bunch of Wiener dogs, like
- 42:36Speaker 4: actual hot dogs.
- 42:37Speaker 3: Now did you watch the Super Bowl?
- 42:39Speaker 4: I mean, not the commercial.
- 42:40Speaker 5: I was busy doing a rose.
- 42:43Speaker 4: I already told you guys, But for the audience, my
- 42:45Speaker 4: favorite part of Super Bowl is my wife who doesn't
- 42:48Speaker 4: really pay attention to much football. Really, she was all
- 42:50Speaker 4: in because she bought six squares for her company super
- 42:53Speaker 4: Bowl Squares thing, and so the whole end of the game,
- 42:56Speaker 4: you know, there's all this random scoring going on, and
- 42:58Speaker 4: all of a sudden it was like, oh my god,
- 43:00Speaker 4: if Kansas City gets this two pointer, I'm gonna win
- 43:02Speaker 4: the squares. So they got it. So congratulations to Laane,
- 43:05Speaker 4: my my wonderful uh wife who won the Super Bowl
- 43:08Speaker 4: Squares a couple hundred bucks for her I was not
- 43:10Speaker 4: involved in that that we're not allow it's her company thing.
- 43:14Speaker 4: The money went right to her account. I can't even
- 43:16Speaker 4: touch it, as I've been informed, but it was kind
- 43:21Speaker 4: of fun. Your wife a divorce account, that's your private
- 43:25Speaker 4: that's your slush We both have our own slush funds.
- 43:28Speaker 5: I thought it was all like why not what the
- 43:30Speaker 5: checking account that I draw from has both of our
- 43:33Speaker 5: names on it.
- 43:33Speaker 4: Uh huh, Like why why do you?
- 43:35Speaker 5: Why do you have a divorce account? Where are you going? Oh?
- 43:37Speaker 4: Well, I think it's we both have just our own
- 43:39Speaker 4: little side checking accounts with a weekly little dot stipend
- 43:42Speaker 4: that you know, if you want to buy something nice
- 43:44Speaker 4: for yourself, like, that's your money. Do whatever you want.
- 43:46Speaker 5: I don't have that.
- 43:47Speaker 4: No, you can't put like, oh, I'm going to go
- 43:49Speaker 4: spend one thousand dollars on this from the you know,
- 43:51Speaker 4: from the main fund. It's too much, you know, so
- 43:54Speaker 4: side side funds, Paul, you tell her it's too much.
- 43:57Speaker 4: I don't know, you're gonna have to do all this fifties.
- 44:01Speaker 5: Husband's like, no, second.
- 44:04Speaker 4: This is how it's going to work him now. Everybody
- 44:08Speaker 4: hates talking money though, right, it's yeah, freaking worse. Yeah,
- 44:11Speaker 4: you know, Patty's back. Patty's back. Hey, Patty, what happened?
- 44:17Speaker 5: Hey? You god damn? Oh no, maybe it's a deuce
- 44:19Speaker 5: is show.
- 44:23Speaker 4: We just can't hear. Oh no, Patty, hold on technical difficulties.
- 44:28Speaker 5: There before forget Oh we can't here.
- 44:30Speaker 4: We just what do you think he would be saying? Though,
- 44:33Speaker 4: if he was calling in to take his victory lap over.
- 44:37Speaker 5: He knew the Eagles would win. He had them forty
- 44:43Speaker 5: one to twenty two. It's a little off, so there
- 44:47Speaker 5: was a touch field goal instead of a touchdown there. Yeah,
- 44:52Speaker 5: he knew Mahomes is going to sink. We'll never know
- 44:55Speaker 5: because you can't hear, Patty. They can't hear you.
- 44:58Speaker 4: I have to replace their effort this and uh, we'll
- 45:01Speaker 4: try to get back to you after after our after
- 45:03Speaker 4: our lunch break, nobody's maybe nobody's getting lunch today, but
- 45:07Speaker 4: we'll just do a random break in fun. I did
- 45:09Speaker 4: not get a lunch? Is that the host job every
- 45:11Speaker 4: day to order from place?
- 45:13Speaker 5: I know, like evn't brought in a sandwich. Sometimes you do.
- 45:16Speaker 4: That, sometimes I have, but not That was my New
- 45:18Speaker 4: Year's resolution, but not not this time.
- 45:20Speaker 5: Per se February.
- 45:22Speaker 4: So here we are, guys, off season, and I know
- 45:24Speaker 4: Evan and I will be heading down to the to
- 45:27Speaker 4: the Combine. That very exciting two weeks, two weeks from today,
- 45:31Speaker 4: two weeks. And we should also point out there's not
- 45:32Speaker 4: gonna be any Paul on Thursday's show, so you know,
- 45:36Speaker 4: be ready might be kids show, get Alex Tamara.
- 45:39Speaker 5: That's not going to be here Thursday either, Yeah right, yeah.
- 45:42Speaker 4: So prepare yourselves for that as we get ready to
- 45:45Speaker 4: embark on the off season. And yeah, like I said,
- 45:48Speaker 4: we're getting ready for the for the Combine again, f
- 45:50Speaker 4: this is gonna be a little exciting call into the show. Paul,
- 45:53Speaker 4: of course, give deliver our thoughts. I did a bunch
- 45:55Speaker 4: of draft research this weekend. Anchor the coverage anchor the
- 45:58Speaker 4: coverage here back to at the home base. But I
- 46:02Speaker 4: did want to talk a little little draft little just
- 46:04Speaker 4: a little, just a little bit. Yeah, no, well I
- 46:06Speaker 4: just I think just want one big, one big. Well
- 46:10Speaker 4: this is all right, Yeah.
- 46:11Speaker 5: It doesn't give me any draft takes.
- 46:13Speaker 4: It's like, well I came up with this one. So look,
- 46:15Speaker 4: you guys call make fun of me, and but I
- 46:16Speaker 4: like to do what I do do. But I finally
- 46:20Speaker 4: just drove dove in on Travis Hunter, you know, just
- 46:22Speaker 4: really watched him, read everything I could, tried to just
- 46:24Speaker 4: look at him as a receiver and as a cornerback.
- 46:27Speaker 4: And my pitch to you guys, because everyone's trying to
- 46:29Speaker 4: figure out receiver cornerback, what if he's a third down player.
- 46:32Speaker 4: He plays third down on offense and he plays third
- 46:34Speaker 4: down on defense, and that's it to start. I mean,
- 46:37Speaker 4: of course, get down to the end. You might need
- 46:38Speaker 4: a little bit more. But what if I pitch it
- 46:40Speaker 4: like that he's gonna be our third down that it's
- 46:42Speaker 4: hard to be. It's hard to get him to practice
- 46:44Speaker 4: it right because you're kind of doing the same at
- 46:46Speaker 4: the same, but that's my pitch. That's my pitch play
- 46:49Speaker 4: him on third down.
- 46:50Speaker 5: I don't love it. I just think he is.
- 46:54Speaker 3: I've not heard that.
- 46:55Speaker 4: I'm going to tell you guys something you don't know.
- 46:56Speaker 4: But he is explosive, he is athletic, He goes up
- 46:59Speaker 4: and get that's the ball. Uh. And I just, you know,
- 47:02Speaker 4: I've been a little lukewarm on it because it feels
- 47:04Speaker 4: a little bit like a project to me. And that's,
- 47:06Speaker 4: you know, having not really watched him and been wowed
- 47:09Speaker 4: by him as much as everyone else probably in the
- 47:11Speaker 4: world has watching him. If he's there at four, I say,
- 47:16Speaker 4: it makes sense regardless of some of the project, with
- 47:19Speaker 4: which side of the ball he's gonna play, what's he
- 47:21Speaker 4: gonna do? And my thought was just and I you know,
- 47:23Speaker 4: I kind of kid about the third down thing, but
- 47:25Speaker 4: just in my mind, that's the down where games are
- 47:28Speaker 4: impacted the most. And I feel like that guy can
- 47:30Speaker 4: make an impact on both sides of the ball, whether
- 47:32Speaker 4: he just comes on on third down on defense and
- 47:35Speaker 4: plays in the slot and you've got all of a sudden,
- 47:36Speaker 4: a super athletic playmaker near the line of scrimmage. That's
- 47:39Speaker 4: going to be disrupting things, not too much, unlike what
- 47:41Speaker 4: Cooper de Jean did a little bit this year. And
- 47:43Speaker 4: then on the other side, all of a sudden, you've
- 47:46Speaker 4: got a guy that people have to contend with. He
- 47:48Speaker 4: is an issue, and you got to know how you're
- 47:51Speaker 4: gonna cover him, because I feel like in a lot
- 47:52Speaker 4: of ways he is uncoverable, and even when he is covered,
- 47:55Speaker 4: it seems like he finds a way to make the ball.
- 47:57Speaker 4: So I came around on Travis Hunter a little bit
- 47:59Speaker 4: this week, which is stupid. I know everyone else has
- 48:01Speaker 4: already been try to come to these things on my own,
- 48:05Speaker 4: and that was where I landed with him. And I
- 48:07Speaker 4: still love Abdul Carter. But one last draft point I'll
- 48:10Speaker 4: make is just I think the Patriots need a lot
- 48:12Speaker 4: on defense, especially as they transition maybe to a different scheme.
- 48:16Speaker 4: And I just think whether it's somebody who's going to
- 48:19Speaker 4: play with their hand down on the dirt as a
- 48:20Speaker 4: defensive end, or somebody who's gonna play standing up off
- 48:23Speaker 4: the edge on the weak side, that there are a
- 48:26Speaker 4: lot of different options to consider in the draft, especially
- 48:29Speaker 4: as you get into that thirty three thirty fourth overall pick.
- 48:33Speaker 4: I think there's probably gonna be a couple guys there
- 48:36Speaker 4: on those positions. I don't know if that impacts how
- 48:38Speaker 4: you approach free agency and you say, maybe we don't
- 48:42Speaker 4: give Josh Wett too much money because there are a
- 48:45Speaker 4: bunch of these guys, But you know what I mean
- 48:47Speaker 4: Like that, to me, those position groups just stood out
- 48:50Speaker 4: because it's it's really like you talk about edge, but
- 48:53Speaker 4: I think it's really two different positions within this defense
- 48:56Speaker 4: where we talk why nine guys guys who can just
- 48:59Speaker 4: get like my can get off the edge and you're
- 49:01Speaker 4: not immediately going to have to ask him to play
- 49:04Speaker 4: the run, to play early downs. I mean, yes, you'd
- 49:06Speaker 4: love him to, which I think you could with Abdul Carter.
- 49:08Speaker 4: But even if you don't get Abdul Carter, I think
- 49:11Speaker 4: there are some options that can impact this defense and
- 49:13Speaker 4: help ease that transition really quickly.
- 49:16Speaker 3: Yeah, those are two good points. That's very separate. But
- 49:19Speaker 3: like to start with Travis Hunter, I think he's one
- 49:23Speaker 3: of those players to me where it's the best player
- 49:25Speaker 3: available situation and if he's there at four, like this
- 49:29Speaker 3: is just not the year where you have a ton
- 49:32Speaker 3: of options of that caliber prospect where you know you're
- 49:36Speaker 3: like last year, you could get picky between do you
- 49:39Speaker 3: want Jolt, do you want Malik Neighbors, do you want
- 49:42Speaker 3: real ma Adonze, Like you could maybe decide a little
- 49:44Speaker 3: bit more between those guys, whereas this year it's Carter,
- 49:48Speaker 3: it's Hunter, and I believe there's a drop off after that.
- 49:52Speaker 3: I think that there is a little bit of a
- 49:54Speaker 3: drop off to the next wave of guys. And so
- 49:57Speaker 3: if you have an opportunity to draft one of those two,
- 50:00Speaker 3: Carter or Travis Hunter, I mean to me, that's to
- 50:02Speaker 3: run the card up situation, right, Like, that's you've got
- 50:05Speaker 3: to make that pick. You know, where does he play
- 50:07Speaker 3: and all that kind of stuff. It's kind of a
- 50:10Speaker 3: we figured this out as we go later, and I
- 50:13Speaker 3: know that scares some people. It definitely scares Barth and
- 50:15Speaker 3: we get into it all the time on Catch twenty
- 50:17Speaker 3: two about this, because you know, he is like, you
- 50:20Speaker 3: got to have a plan, you have to have a plan.
- 50:22Speaker 3: And I don't necessarily disagree, but you know, at the
- 50:24Speaker 3: same time, maybe he feels like he's a better receiver
- 50:28Speaker 3: than he is a corner, and then he gets into
- 50:30Speaker 3: the league and realizes it isn't working at wide receiver
- 50:33Speaker 3: and now you have this ability to then transition him
- 50:36Speaker 3: to the other side of the ball and you still
- 50:38Speaker 3: have a chance to hit on the pick. And I
- 50:39Speaker 3: think that's intriguing as well. But ultimately, with Travis Hunter,
- 50:43Speaker 3: I think what you come back to is that you're
- 50:45Speaker 3: gonna get a really good player no matter which side
- 50:47Speaker 3: of the ball he plays on. But the question is,
- 50:50Speaker 3: are you kind of sapping his superpower by not playing
- 50:53Speaker 3: him both ways? Like, is that what truly makes him
- 50:57Speaker 3: unique is that he plays both ways? Or can he
- 50:59Speaker 3: be good enough at one position that it's worth to
- 51:02Speaker 3: pick no matter what, Because if he can only be
- 51:04Speaker 3: great by playing both ways, then you have to third
- 51:07Speaker 3: downs or like you have to come up with the
- 51:09Speaker 3: creative plan to be able to do something like that.
- 51:11Speaker 4: I think the hard thing right now too, is you're
- 51:13Speaker 4: thinking about Travis Hunter coming onto this team kind of
- 51:16Speaker 4: in a vacuum where God, we need so much and
- 51:19Speaker 4: we need so much from him. If you draft him,
- 51:22Speaker 4: if you think about it, if they're successful with this
- 51:24Speaker 4: draft and next year's draft, and you get into let's
- 51:27Speaker 4: say twenty twenty six, twenty twenty seven, and all of
- 51:30Speaker 4: a sudden, it doesn't seem like it's all on Travis Hunter.
- 51:33Speaker 4: He's more one of these guys that Philadelphia drafted where
- 51:36Speaker 4: at the time you're like, oh, DeVante Smith. Now all
- 51:39Speaker 4: of a sudden, he's not even really the focal point.
- 51:41Speaker 4: He's just an amazing piece that you have to play
- 51:44Speaker 4: with and another part of this whole system. I think
- 51:46Speaker 4: that's what's appealing to me, and just the bottom line
- 51:49Speaker 4: for me is this guy is special. You know, there's
- 51:51Speaker 4: an element to him that is special. And trying to like, well,
- 51:55Speaker 4: we have to have the plan and we have to
- 51:57Speaker 4: have the exact piece cut out for him, and this
- 51:59Speaker 4: is what he's gonna do. Like at a certain point,
- 52:01Speaker 4: you just have to look at the guy and be like,
- 52:02Speaker 4: this guy is a special football player, and this team
- 52:06Speaker 4: is desperate for special football players.
- 52:07Speaker 5: That's what I kind of think about Hunter, you know,
- 52:10Speaker 5: And I get the points that the only way I'd
- 52:13Speaker 5: be scared away from him is if Evans doomsday scenario unfolds,
- 52:18Speaker 5: and that is he's not good enough at either one
- 52:20Speaker 5: to warrant selecting where he's going to go. I think
- 52:25Speaker 5: he's he's good enough, you know, to warrant you know,
- 52:29Speaker 5: a top three pick. I don't think he'll be available
- 52:31Speaker 5: at four either. But if if he is, I would
- 52:36Speaker 5: take him. I mean, I just think he's the talent
- 52:38Speaker 5: is too too great. And that's what we can talk
- 52:42Speaker 5: all about blueprints and everything. The blueprint is take as
- 52:45Speaker 5: many good players as you can find, and once you
- 52:49Speaker 5: have you know, eight, ten, twelve players that are like
- 52:53Speaker 5: Drake May and Christian Gonzales, then you can start talking
- 52:56Speaker 5: about competing for Super Bowls and what pieces you might
- 52:59Speaker 5: need to put you over the top. I think Travis
- 53:02Speaker 5: Hunter is one of those guys that could come in
- 53:05Speaker 5: and be that caliber of player you know on I
- 53:10Speaker 5: don't care, I don't I don't care which side you can.
- 53:13Speaker 5: You can decide that corner wide receiver doesn't matter.
- 53:17Speaker 3: Yeah, in my doomsday scenario. To be clear, like, I
- 53:19Speaker 3: haven't spoken to anybody that that feels that he's not
- 53:22Speaker 3: a good enough prospect unless he plays both walls.
- 53:24Speaker 5: To the contrary, I think we've heard a lot of
- 53:25Speaker 5: people say he can be a special corner.
- 53:27Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, and I hear that. I keep coming back
- 53:31Speaker 3: to the same thing with that though. It's just a
- 53:33Speaker 3: would you rather game of would you rather an A
- 53:36Speaker 3: plus corner or like a B plus receiver, in which
- 53:38Speaker 3: one's more valuable.
- 53:39Speaker 5: It's a different game where I came from.
- 53:41Speaker 3: You know, to your team and things like that, and
- 53:43Speaker 3: and that that's a conversation that I'm sure a lot
- 53:46Speaker 3: of teams are going to be having in their you know,
- 53:48Speaker 3: in their rooms and their conference rooms over the next
- 53:51Speaker 3: couple of months at the top of the draft, is
- 53:54Speaker 3: you know, is he more valuable to us at receiver
- 53:57Speaker 3: or at corner? And the points that you mentioned about
- 54:00Speaker 3: defensive lineman. So Daniel Jeremiah tweeted out, I think yesterday
- 54:03Speaker 3: or this morning that he has twenty four starter grades
- 54:07Speaker 3: on defensive linemen in this draft and last year he
- 54:09Speaker 3: had twelve, So he has double the amount. And I
- 54:12Speaker 3: understand that a lot of people hear about value and
- 54:15Speaker 3: positional value and think back to Bill and some of
- 54:17Speaker 3: the reaches that he's had over the years and assets.
- 55:49Speaker 3: Do you want to invest in a three technique? Like
- 55:51Speaker 3: you can only have one or two on the field
- 55:53Speaker 3: at once, so like you can't have seven three techniques.
- 55:57Speaker 3: So like I just that's where I come at it
- 55:59Speaker 3: with Mason. He's a great player, and I know I
- 56:01Speaker 3: kind of am beating a dead horse with my take
- 56:03Speaker 3: on this, but you have to look at the way
- 56:06Speaker 3: that the board is going to stack, and like, who
- 56:08Speaker 3: is going to be available on Day two at these
- 56:11Speaker 3: other positions, and where are the drop offs and where
- 56:14Speaker 3: is the talent?
- 57:40Speaker 4: Like that's why I think I would pitch in free agency,
- 57:43Speaker 4: go for those guys. Try to secure one of those guys,
- 57:47Speaker 4: because as much as even if you like Will Campbell,
- 57:49Speaker 4: I still get to four. I don't see Hunter, I
- 57:51Speaker 4: don't see Carter. I'm a little torn about Will Campbell.
- 57:55Speaker 4: I really like him. I think he's got a great personality.
- 57:57Speaker 4: I think he fits Rabel. But at the same time time,
- 58:00Speaker 4: it's like, is he even the immediate answer, even if
- 58:03Speaker 4: he's good, is he is he a day one starter
- 58:05Speaker 4: at left tackle? No questions asked? I don't. I don't
- 58:07Speaker 4: quite think so. So I think it's I think it's
- 58:10Speaker 4: it's gonna be really hard to balance the tackle and
- 58:12Speaker 4: fixing the offensive line. That to me seems like the
- 58:14Speaker 4: toughest task because there's a lot of defense, a lot
- 58:17Speaker 4: of stuff they need in the draft. It that I
- 58:18Speaker 4: that I feel good about. There's not a lot of
- 58:20Speaker 4: options in free agency.
- 58:22Speaker 3: Yeah, and you know there's not gonna be a lot
- 58:24Speaker 3: of options that come available because teams don't just give
- 58:26Speaker 3: away left tackles that are starting caliber or above, you know,
- 58:30Speaker 3: so it's it's a tough position. But I'm with you
- 58:32Speaker 3: with the free agents, like Alar Jackson is a name
- 58:34Speaker 3: that I like. Cam Robinson's fine, Like I wouldn't overpay
- 58:38Speaker 3: for Cam Robinson. But I think one thing that you
- 58:40Speaker 3: saw with the Chargers drafting Joe Alton then immediately putting
- 58:44Speaker 3: him at right tackle is that that might not have
- 58:46Speaker 3: this stigma against it that it once did. And so
- 58:49Speaker 3: even if you sign a guy like Cam Robinson in
- 58:51Speaker 3: free agency and you draft a guy like Well Campbell, like, well,
- 58:55Speaker 3: maybe one of them is playing right side and one
- 58:56Speaker 3: of them is playing left side, and now you have
- 58:58Speaker 3: both tackles taking care of, you think in the future.
- 59:02Speaker 3: So I look at that too, as you know, could
- 59:05Speaker 3: one of those free agent guys be your right tackle,
- 59:07Speaker 3: because let's face it, like do they have an answer
- 59:10Speaker 3: at right tackle right now either too? Yeah, they need
- 59:13Speaker 3: both of them. So you know, you come back to, yeah,
- 59:16Speaker 3: maybe this guy's played left tackle throughout his career and
- 59:19Speaker 3: I know he just did this with Chucks the korp
- 59:21Speaker 3: for and everybody's worried about trying to do that. Again,
- 59:23Speaker 3: it's a different caliber player in my opinion a little bit.
- 59:26Speaker 3: You know, Chucks the kor for I don't think was
- 59:28Speaker 3: nearly as well thought of as a guy.
- 59:31Speaker 5: He'd lost his job as a right tackle right.
- 59:33Speaker 3: Right as some of these guys. So it's just a
- 59:36Speaker 3: different type of situation. But I look at the offensive line,
- 59:41Speaker 3: I still think Will Campbell's an answer potentially for them
- 59:44Speaker 3: at four. Like we'll see what the arm length comes
- 59:46Speaker 3: out with and all that kind of stuff. But I
- 59:48Speaker 3: still believe that he's a very very good tackle. Maybe
- 59:52Speaker 3: he would be like an elite guard, but I think
- 59:54Speaker 3: he'd be a very good tackle as well. And I
- 59:57Speaker 3: think the Patriots are just not in a position to
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: be overly picky based off of you know, where they're
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: at on the offensive line.
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: So I would take the drum is starting to beat
- 1:00:07Speaker 5: a little bit more for Will Campbell.
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: I feel like it was beating and then it kind
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: of dipped and the first started to beat again because.
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: I'm hearing a lot more positivity about Will Campbell in
- 1:00:16Speaker 5: the last couple of weeks.
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: I just I mean, you look at that tackle they started,
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: yet it's going to get well, I mean then you
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: look at the tackle class and it's like by the
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: time you get to thirty three, thirty four, and you know,
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: top of the second round, right, you're Project City.
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: That's the other point, right, is like you know, if
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: you if you look at thirty eight, you know you're
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: probably right at the end of that like let's call
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: it two and a half or three tier tackle run. Right,
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: you know that Josh Connerly is the arianti urseries. You're
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: depending on Josh Simmons' health, like where he ends up
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: going in this draft. And so now you're having this
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: conversation a lot like you had last year of like
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: do you trade up at the back end of the
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: first round to get one of those guys? Do you
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: now wait a little bit longer and take your guy
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: in like the third round like they did last year?
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: And is that enough of a solution to the problem,
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: because I just don't believe that you're going to be
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: sitting there at thirty eight with a ton of options
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: at tackle, just like last year where they were kind
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: of stuck in between at that point. So maybe they
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: used the Judaan pick and like you know, the extra
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: picks to kind of package up to move back in
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: to the twenties. But even then, I think you're having
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: some of the same conversations. Like Simmons blew out his proteller, Tennant,
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: he had the same injury that Cole Strange had. Cole
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: Strange missed an entire calendar year of football with that injury,
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: So like you're looking at Simmons as a player that
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: might not even play for you in twenty twenty five.
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: So that's even if you like the players so much
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: that you're willing to take that risk. You know, we
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: were talking earlier about what should Kansas City do, Like
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: that's a move that the Chiefs make right where they
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: can afford to stash him or they can afford to
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: wait until he's healthy, and if he's not healthy until
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: after Thanksgiving they can They're okay with that. The Patriots
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: need immediate answers at that position. I don't know if
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: he's going to be one of those, you know, I
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: don't know if he's going to be healthy. So it's
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: it's a tough spot to be in a tackle And
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: that's why I think you have to you know, maybe
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: to Paul's point of like why all these names are
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: coming coming back to Will Campbell a little bit is
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: because he's really the best option. He truly is the
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: best option to fill that need and really feel like
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: you're you've filled it and not just taking a fly.
- 1:02:22Speaker 5: And I guess, and I don't you know, I'm not
- 1:02:24Speaker 5: as in the weeds as both of you guys are yet.
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: And I just felt like when the season was winding down,
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: as the playoffs were going on, it was Campbell and Banks.
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: Now it's just Campbell. Banks is more like in the teens,
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: and Campbell is the only top ten guy. So I
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: guess that's what I feel like I'm starting to hear
- 1:02:45Speaker 5: more and more about. And if that's the case, I'm
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: all for Will Campbell if he is clearly that much better.
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: So okay, you would take him at eight, but you
- 1:02:54Speaker 5: don't take him at four. I think Devin made a
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: really good point. I don't think they're in a position
- 1:02:59Speaker 5: to be overly picky. They got they got to find
- 1:03:02Speaker 5: a guy who's both talented and fills a need. Now,
- 1:03:06Speaker 5: the silver lining there that I keep the snarky comment
- 1:03:09Speaker 5: is pretty much anything that they take will fill a need,
- 1:03:12Speaker 5: so you can just find the best player.
- 1:03:14Speaker 4: On one other point I'll make on the draft before
- 1:03:16Speaker 4: we take a break. So I just think, again, there's
- 1:03:19Speaker 4: there's receivers to be had. Day two, there's receivers to
- 1:03:21Speaker 4: be had. There's speed that you can add. That's I've
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: been consistent with that since this season. I think there
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: are a lot of guys out there that you know,
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: fall through the cracks you get there. It's just you know,
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: you start to mess around with these mock drafts and
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: you get and you're like, get to that second round pick,
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: You're like, there's some front seven guys that are pretty
- 1:03:36Speaker 4: good and that I'd be excited to add to this team.
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: And even when you get to that third round pick,
- 1:03:40Speaker 4: you still get guys like, you know, I don't know
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: if Isaiah Bond is you know that guy in the
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: third round, but you know a guy who's explosive who
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: you know, those kind of traits I think are with
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: what this team needs. So that's my two cents on
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: the draft. As I went crazy last Friday and then Saturday,
- 1:03:54Speaker 4: it was pretty fun Saturday catch up to speed. I
- 1:03:57Speaker 4: just got on a roll. I started going through it. Well,
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: I know the combent's coming up. In the combine, I think,
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: which I've learned. Here's Paul mentored me the first time
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: we went there and no idea what I was doing,
- 1:04:06Speaker 4: what I was in for. But it's a lot more
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: fun when you go in and you just have like,
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: I don't need to break down seventeen different games. I
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: just want to know a little bit about as many plays.
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: Top ten guys at each position. That was kind of
- 1:04:17Speaker 4: my goal over the weekend was to get to ten
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: guys each. I always felt like if.
- 1:04:20Speaker 5: I could go there and not necessarily look at a
- 1:04:23Speaker 5: podium and say, who's that guy, right, Like I have
- 1:04:26Speaker 5: a base knowledge of the guys that you're going to
- 1:04:29Speaker 5: hear from. Now, there's a million other guys that are
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: there too. They're at the you know, the side day
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: they still do the side DA Sure you know a
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: million of those other guys too in this value in
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: that too, like Evan probably knows every one of those
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: guys as well. But I always felt like if you
- 1:04:45Speaker 5: could just get a base knowledge of I don't know,
- 1:04:48Speaker 5: say the top fifty to seventy five players that you're
- 1:04:52Speaker 5: going to hear from, and you have an idea, Okay,
- 1:04:54Speaker 5: I know that's the guy from Texas, so that's the
- 1:04:55Speaker 5: guy from Georgia.
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:04:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I felt like I was so much ahead of
- 1:04:59Speaker 5: the game because I went. Believe me, there were times
- 1:05:02Speaker 5: I went and I didn't know anything more than.
- 1:05:03Speaker 4: Just going off Super bowls. Paul, you can only do
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: so much.
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: Correct, Mike, Yeah, you need some over.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: For better or worse. We're in a much different spot
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: now where this matters a little bit more than it
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: did when they were coming off the Super Bowl. I
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: always love that about Senior Bowl and and with the combine,
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: when you see the personnel from the Super Bowl winner
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: the teams that are participating in the Super Bowl down
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: in Mobile like they don't even care, like they're not
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: even watching. They're just like whatever, Like we were gonna
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: we need, like, you know, a third corner and probably
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: like a backup running back and.
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: Grab two years. I do like that. Josh Simmons. I
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: watched a little bit of him and he's, yeah, he's
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: a big, mean dude. Let's grab Let's just grab DeShawn
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: and Virginia here so he doesn't have to hold on
- 1:05:49Speaker 4: while we don't what's up to Sean?
- 1:05:53Speaker 5: Hey, We're back? Uh? Was the touch one?
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: I hear you guys suck a lot.
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: B Travers Hunter or whatever.
- 1:06:01Speaker 5: But like this is my thing on Like if if
- 1:06:04Speaker 5: I'm wanting to take the best corner in the draft
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: home taking what done and we lost them. If I'm
- 1:06:09Speaker 5: the best receiver drift, I'm taking lost the villain.
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: We lost you. That's all right, We're all right. So
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: we're gonna jump out real quick. We're gonna take a
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: little break, not eat, hang out, but give you guys
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: a break and give a chance for our audio to
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: get back up here. So we will see you guys
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: after this brief break.

- 1:07:29Speaker 9: Paul Parrillo. Please to be joined by number seventy on
- 1:07:32Speaker 9: your scorecard, but number one in our hearts, at least today.
- 1:07:35Speaker 9: Paul absolutely right next to the Yeah, and you better
- 1:07:38Speaker 9: be careful.
- 1:07:38Speaker 5: Yeah, and that's Logan Mankins.
- 1:07:39Speaker 9: Logan, thanks for coming in.
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: How you doing, man, I'm doing great. Thanks for having
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: me U.
- 1:07:42Speaker 9: Yeah, really appreciate it all right, Logan? When we start
- 1:07:45Speaker 9: these with everybody, because I don't you mean, like maybe
- 1:07:48Speaker 9: people know what some ex patriots are doing, but I
- 1:07:52Speaker 9: think there's a lot of people that go, Logan, Macon's
- 1:07:54Speaker 9: where is he these days?
- 1:07:55Speaker 5: What are you up to?
- 1:07:56Speaker 9: I think fans would love to know that.
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: Well, I'm still here in New England.
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: We live in an with that Burl still just down
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: the road from Foxboro, and we have a little farm
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: and we raised beef, cattle, hay, firewood, all that kind
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: of fun stuff.
- 1:08:09Speaker 9: Why is a California Northern California kid, What is it
- 1:08:13Speaker 9: about New England? Because I think, and I'm being very
- 1:08:16Speaker 9: stereotypically stereotypical here, I think people would be surprised. Patriot
- 1:08:21Speaker 9: fans will go, Okay, his career's over, finish it in Tampa.
- 1:08:24Speaker 9: He's going to go back to northern California at some
- 1:08:26Speaker 9: point in time. Why still New England? I mean, and
- 1:08:29Speaker 9: this is somebody who loves New England's lived here his
- 1:08:30Speaker 9: entire life.
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, we had lived here for nine years before
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: I got traded, and then the timing of the trade
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: was school was about to start, so my wife and
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: kids stayed here and I went there just for the
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: season at Tampa, and then we did that. Then I
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: came back after the season and my daughter was in
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: high school, so we didn't want to make her move
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: while she was in high school, so I went to
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: Tampa for the season again and they stayed here, and
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: then by the time I retired, we just made the
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: decision that our oldest is in high school, let's let
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: her finish high school. And then she was graduating high school.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: Our next one was coming into high school. So we
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: just made the decision to stay here and make this
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: our forever place.
- 1:09:14Speaker 5: So that's great, yea, Because I was one of those
- 1:09:16Speaker 5: that I would have said, you know, Logan Mankins, he'll
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: be back on the ranch out and it was a
- 1:09:20Speaker 5: Kathy's Valley.
- 1:09:21Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, Kathy's Valley town.
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: I figured you'd be long gone and hot to find.
- 1:09:25Speaker 5: And then I show up at Bishop Fian Matt Yeah.
- 1:09:29Speaker 5: And so one of those classic Bishop Fenwick, Bishop fee
- 1:09:32Speaker 5: In Tilts right in the Catholic Central League Mankins. So
- 1:09:36Speaker 5: Logan Paul's office is now next to mine, and I'm
- 1:09:40Speaker 5: regaled weekly with you know how great Fenwick is. Fenwick
- 1:09:44Speaker 5: kicked his team's ass, blah blah blah.
- 1:09:46Speaker 9: And he tells me, he goes, oh, you wouldn't believe this.
- 1:09:48Speaker 9: I read into Logan Mankins, other than Bruski, who we
- 1:09:51Speaker 9: know is obnoxious on the sidelines, is all the most
- 1:09:54Speaker 9: obnoxious parent of a kid that you've run into a
- 1:09:56Speaker 9: high school game. And he's got to be right.
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: Well, I don't know.
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: I don't get to see him during the game, but
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: he's always very gracious in defeats.
- 1:10:04Speaker 5: So well, see he's he's being kind. I usually bitch
- 1:10:08Speaker 5: about the referees for about a half hour. Uh, but
- 1:10:11Speaker 5: it was funny. This is this is a kind of
- 1:10:13Speaker 5: a funny story. So last year when uh Logan sun
- 1:10:16Speaker 5: Case Mankins is a tremendous two way player for Bishop
- 1:10:21Speaker 5: Fiann and my oldest son Will they're the same same age,
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: not as tremendous a two way player for Fenwick, but
- 1:10:26Speaker 5: he does well. So we're at Fenwick two years ago
- 1:10:30Speaker 5: and it was one of those games where I was,
- 1:10:32Speaker 5: you know, held in for a leather, like if I
- 1:10:34Speaker 5: could have found an official in the parking lot, things
- 1:10:36Speaker 5: could have been bad. And I see Logan, I.
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: Go, did you see that hole?
- 1:10:41Speaker 5: By missing a touchdown? And Logan goes and then' holding
- 1:10:44Speaker 5: if they don't.
- 1:10:45Speaker 9: Call it so but it was spoken like a true
- 1:10:48Speaker 9: offensive life.
- 1:10:50Speaker 5: Well what was great was is my friends are constantly
- 1:10:53Speaker 5: as you probably get a lot of this, they're constantly
- 1:10:55Speaker 5: busting my balls. Oh oh big tof Paul like, oh
- 1:10:57Speaker 5: he talks to Tom Brady, he talks the two Bruski.
- 1:11:01Speaker 5: Oh why don't you tell where's all you boys? Where's makings?
- 1:11:04Speaker 5: Where's all you put? So don't you know Logan comes
- 1:11:06Speaker 5: over at the end of the game. You talk about
- 1:11:07Speaker 5: being gracious in defeat, gracious in victory. He comes over
- 1:11:11Speaker 5: after the game, says goodbye to my wife and I
- 1:11:14Speaker 5: and I get the bro hug. I got a little
- 1:11:16Speaker 5: bro hug. And there what you like to make fun
- 1:11:17Speaker 5: of me about for fraud. So all of my friends
- 1:11:21Speaker 5: now looking like, wow, you really do know those guys
- 1:11:23Speaker 5: are going what do you think? I worked there for
- 1:11:25Speaker 5: twenty years. I never met anybody, so it was it's
- 1:11:28Speaker 5: been kind of nice. Case played some basketball last last winter,
- 1:11:33Speaker 5: so I bumped into Logan a few times. And he
- 1:11:35Speaker 5: was here in Foxbow at the draft party too, so
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: he's been around and.
- 1:11:38Speaker 9: Logan and I'm I can verify Paul because Paul was
- 1:11:41Speaker 9: saying this to me when he came back. He goes,
- 1:11:43Speaker 9: You're not gonna believe it, And I'm not surprised. He goes,
- 1:11:46Speaker 9: I think Patriots fans would not be surprised as well.
- 1:11:49Speaker 9: Regular guy, nice guy parent who isn't screaming and yelling
- 1:11:54Speaker 9: and swearing at the referees like most of the other
- 1:11:56Speaker 9: parents are. See and Jody right with his hat probably just.
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: Like that was a draper farms. Yeah, you know, you
- 1:12:03Speaker 5: would not have any idea that this is a you know,
- 1:12:07Speaker 5: decade long NFL player, well ten plus years NFL player,
- 1:12:11Speaker 5: with the amount of Pro Bowls and All pros, And
- 1:12:14Speaker 5: you would have no idea just sitting in the stands
- 1:12:16Speaker 5: watching these kids, just like everybody else, right, And I hope.
- 1:12:18Speaker 9: This doesn't come across in a way. It's sort of
- 1:12:21Speaker 9: as I'm saying, thinking about in my mind that somebody
- 1:12:23Speaker 9: could take it as an insult, and I hope it
- 1:12:25Speaker 9: would never be that way. But Logan as the second
- 1:12:28Speaker 9: greatest guard in franchise history, you are you okay? Being
- 1:12:32Speaker 9: behind John Hannah?
- 1:12:33Speaker 5: Yeah? Who?
- 1:12:34Speaker 4: By the way, I just but they wouldn't change my life.
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: I get it.
- 1:12:41Speaker 9: But I don't know if you ever had a chance
- 1:12:43Speaker 9: to really, you know, watch Hannah or anything like that
- 1:12:45Speaker 9: during the days. And I spent some time with John
- 1:12:48Speaker 9: a couple of summers ago down on his cattle farm
- 1:12:50Speaker 9: down in Alabama. Crusty, great patriot and great guy. I
- 1:12:54Speaker 9: think you guys would connect.
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I've got him a few times. Yeah, we uh
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: would swap stories and it was great meeting them and
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: hearing all the great things he had to talk about.
- 1:13:03Speaker 5: And he just started yelling at you about not running
- 1:13:05Speaker 5: the ball enough.
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: Well, he said he liked running the ball because he
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: didn't like the pass block and that pass blocking is
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: pretty tough, so especially against the talent they have nowadays.
- 1:13:16Speaker 9: He loved watching you play. He loved watching you play.
- 1:13:20Speaker 9: And I would say, as an outsider, for somebody to
- 1:13:23Speaker 9: get a stamp of approval from somebody like John Hannah,
- 1:13:26Speaker 9: that means a lot more than Paul Pirillo or Matt
- 1:13:28Speaker 9: Smith or any any other Tom Dick and Harry, because
- 1:13:31Speaker 9: here's a legit guy. But he loved watching you play.
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: Yeah, and John, he was respected by everyone, his teammates,
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: his opponents, other coaches. So that's always what I wanted
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: to If they wrote I was good in the paper,
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: that was great, But I wanted my teammates. I wanted
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: to earn their respect, and I wanted opponents not to
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: want to play me.
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: So that's how it was.
- 1:13:51Speaker 9: Did you think when you were coming out did you
- 1:13:54Speaker 9: think you were going to be a first round pick?
- 1:13:56Speaker 4: I didn't know.
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: I everyone told me probably second around her. And it
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: was funny. The day of the draft, I was We
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: had me and my wife had a little apartment in
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: Fresno and we had a little draft party and just
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: people kept showing up more and more. Like my dad,
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: he's a he likes to have a good time, so
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: he was inviting everyone he saw, whether he knew them
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: or not.
- 1:14:19Speaker 4: So that was always great.
- 1:14:20Speaker 5: Does it make him a bad guy?
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: No. We're sitting there and my offensive coordinator from Fresno
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: was one of his best friends was with the forty
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: nine ers and he calls me. He goes that I
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: just talked to my best friend. They're taking you with
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: the thirty third pick. I was like, oh sweet, right
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: down the road from here. And then I was like,
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: hold on, someone else is calling me, and I click
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: the phone over and it was Scott Pioli. He's like,
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: we're taking you right now.
- 1:14:46Speaker 5: I was like, oh, okay.
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: So it was great. I was.
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: I think I was very fortunate to come here. I'm
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: it worked out the best to come here. I'm glad
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: that the Niners weren't picking thirty two the to wear.
- 1:15:00Speaker 5: So you obviously it did work out. You were part
- 1:15:03Speaker 5: of a lot of wins here and you had a
- 1:15:05Speaker 5: great career. Did you think it at the time, you know,
- 1:15:08Speaker 5: like you were so close to being close to home,
- 1:15:11Speaker 5: and now you have to go to New England, which
- 1:15:13Speaker 5: I can't tell you how many players will tell you.
- 1:15:14Speaker 5: I didn't really even know where New England was because
- 1:15:16Speaker 5: they think it's a state, not a region. What were
- 1:15:19Speaker 5: you thinking about the culture, you know, both the culture
- 1:15:22Speaker 5: with the team and the culture shock of going from
- 1:15:24Speaker 5: West coast to East coast.
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I wasn't, like you said, totally aware of they
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: said in New England. I was like, Okay, that's on
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: the East Coast, but I didn't know it was like
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: right outside of Boston. I didn't know where the stadium
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: was or Foxborough or any of that stuff. And guys
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: are like, oh, you're gonna go play with Tom Brady,
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: and I'm like, I'm not even sure who Tom Brady
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: really is. Right, I didn't watch that much in NFL football.
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: I didn't up until my senior year of high school.
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: I loved watching NFL football, and then once I got
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: to college, I kind of stopped paying attention and had
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: many other things going on.
- 1:15:57Speaker 9: So is that because you Is it because it was
- 1:16:01Speaker 9: so much for you to play? It took so much physically,
- 1:16:03Speaker 9: mentally and everything like that that when the time came
- 1:16:07Speaker 9: that you had quote your own time or downtime or
- 1:16:10Speaker 9: however you want to call it. I got other things
- 1:16:12Speaker 9: I want to do that interest me rather than sit
- 1:16:16Speaker 9: and watch this because I'm living and I'm you know,
- 1:16:19Speaker 9: in a division in school, you're working.
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: It's a job, yeah, And and the schedule kind of
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: makes it that way. So in college, you play on Saturday. Sunday,
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: you go in for lifting, you watch the game, and
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: you have your conditioning, so that's most of your Sunday
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: while NFL football is on, so you can watch games
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: on Monday night and Sunday night. But other than that,
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: during the day, you were usually busy, so we didn't
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: watch a lot of it. And as I got older
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: in college, I already had my first daughter and everything
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: like that. So the longer I was in college, the
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: more responsible I had to start becoming, and we had
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: a lot of other things to do to support her
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: and your wife.
- 1:17:08Speaker 8: And now great moments in.
- 1:17:12Speaker 4: History.
- 1:17:13Speaker 5: It's a totally different food. I'm talking about boneless buffalo
- 1:17:16Speaker 5: wings as opposed to bone in buffalo wings, right.
- 1:17:19Speaker 4: But isn't what's in the chicken finger the same as
- 1:17:21Speaker 4: the boneless buffalo wings? Necessarily it does nice to say it.
- 1:17:25Speaker 5: Does not taste to say you can put anything in
- 1:17:28Speaker 5: the boneless stuff. And I'm not even I'm not even
- 1:17:32Speaker 5: anti because of that. Although he's right, Fred's absolutely right,
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: it's not necessarily the same. The bone, I think gives
- 1:17:38Speaker 5: it more flavor. I think it's a better you ever
- 1:17:40Speaker 5: have a bone product a non bonus. Absolutely get that
- 1:17:47Speaker 5: bone in boner boner.
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: That's another great moment from confidence.
- 1:17:57Speaker 4: It's important to have when you're on the road with
- 1:17:59Speaker 4: bridge Stone tires on your car, truck, suv, or mini van.
- 1:18:02Speaker 4: You're riding tires you can trust Bridgetone tires or engineered

- 1:18:23Speaker 4: like that, and I need confident.
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: The whole thing needs work.
- 1:18:26Speaker 4: Yeah, I know, I got already. I already got some
- 1:18:29Speaker 4: some flak here in the email from Gary saying what
- 1:18:32Speaker 4: a what an amateur? Fred would have transitioned right into emails. Yeah,
- 1:18:36Speaker 4: I know, I know, Gary. I'm doing my best here.
- 1:18:38Speaker 4: No one's like the big boss man though. He's been
- 1:18:40Speaker 4: doing this for for far too long, and we're back here,
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: so I think we're back up and trying.
- 1:18:45Speaker 5: To kick them out. Been doing this for far too long.
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: That's not true. He should stay here for whatever.
- 1:18:51Speaker 3: It's a different US hosting and shis I don't enjoy it.
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: You have to read words.
- 1:18:57Speaker 4: Yeah, you got to man the phone lines. And we're
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: gonna get Patty a third chance here today. Patty. Oh,
- 1:19:03Speaker 4: there he is. I can hear him. What's up, Patty?
- 1:19:07Speaker 5: What are you doing right now?
- 1:19:12Speaker 4: Patty?
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: I'm gonna say that's not Patty.
- 1:19:14Speaker 4: Patty.
- 1:19:15Speaker 3: There he is a good today.
- 1:19:19Speaker 4: Oh God, what's going on?
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: Patty?
- 1:19:23Speaker 5: All right?
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: We got a fight going on. I don't know what's
- 1:19:26Speaker 4: going on there. Never heard that one before.
- 1:19:29Speaker 5: Never happens when Fred.
- 1:19:30Speaker 4: Hosts like Patty was in the middle of a life or.
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: Battle ten seconds.
- 1:19:37Speaker 5: I kept waiting to hear Patty's.
- 1:19:38Speaker 4: Voice for a second. But maybe like we melded.
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: Just email us or something, Patty. We've tried.
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: Yeah, the tp X hotline today going on a little
- 1:19:47Speaker 4: bit tough times here, but yeah, shoot us an email
- 1:19:50Speaker 4: if you'd like to read We've got We've got a
- 1:19:52Speaker 4: bunch of those actually, uh and this is one that
- 1:19:54Speaker 4: tickles my fancy a little bit from Jake and Melbourne.
- 1:19:57Speaker 4: But he only wants Even's thoughts on this, So would
- 1:19:59Speaker 4: like to just get Evan's thoughts on the Cowboys discussing
- 1:20:03Speaker 4: possibly trading Parsons. Sniff some rumors out, you know.
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: Come on, like, what are we talking about here? But
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: this is part of the of the whole like insider game,
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: I really don't enjoy where it's like there's been conversations
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: within the building about it, not anything real, but like
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: you know who said that? You know, there's the janitor
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: might have mentioned it or something like that, Like, come on, like,
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: they're not going to trade Micah Parsons. This is all
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: a negotiation tactic on both sides. They both want their number.
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: I'm sure they'll come to an agreement at some point.
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: He's not going to be a bit Why did he
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: ask Kevin?
- 1:20:41Speaker 4: That's no fun at all.
- 1:20:41Speaker 5: Come so I have one that I'll direct to Evan.
- 1:20:43Speaker 5: As long as we're directing things.
- 1:20:45Speaker 4: To Evan, as I can just read.
- 1:20:46Speaker 5: What are your thoughts on the style of linebacker preferred
- 1:20:51Speaker 5: by Mike.
- 1:20:52Speaker 4: Good Good Good Good.
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a good question. I have heard a lot
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: of they're going to get smaller, they're gonna get faster,
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: They're they're gonna be more sidelined to sideline. I think
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: there are some elements of that. Typically, when you run
- 1:21:08Speaker 3: like an even front and four three type defenses, you're
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: shooting gaps, you're getting up the field. So you do
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: want guys that can kind of, you know, take out
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: the trash if you will. You know, if those guys
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: miss their shot, then there's gonna be open gaps and
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: things like that. So there is an element of that,
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: I suppose, But I still don't think that they're gonna
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: be all of a sudden, you know, Matt Mulanos all
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: over the place where everybody's two and twenty five pounds,
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: you know, I still feel like most of his linebackers
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: carried around two thirty five to forty, which nowadays is
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: average to above average in terms of weight and size.
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: I think like everybody is like shooting for like that
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: those two hundred and forty pound guys at this point.
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: So do I think that you're gonna have Juwan Bentley's out.
- 1:21:54Speaker 5: There, Well that's kind of my my preference.
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: Probably not, but I don't think that that necessarily means
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: that Jwan Bentley's on the first flight out of here either,
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: and they're going to completely u you know, just jettison
- 1:22:05Speaker 3: him because he's not two hundred and forty pounds.
- 1:22:07Speaker 4: You know, we make fun of Evan, like when we
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: make fun of Evan that he's like lying in bed
- 1:22:10Speaker 4: and Jess is like, what are you thinking about? Like
- 1:22:12Speaker 4: this is like when Leye like what are you thinking about?
- 1:22:13Speaker 4: I'm like, yeah, Mike for Abel's preference for linebackers, Like,
- 1:22:16Speaker 4: that's totally something I considered. And like I've said, there's
- 1:22:20Speaker 4: holes on defense, so it's hard to say, well, let's
- 1:22:22Speaker 4: create more holes, even if it really would fit preferably
- 1:22:25Speaker 4: what you'd like to do. I think it's a really
- 1:22:27Speaker 4: good question. I kind of side with Evan and thinking
- 1:22:30Speaker 4: that I think Bentley's here this year. I mean, this
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: is last year and his deal. But I wonder about
- 1:22:34Speaker 4: to buy. I wonder about Anthony Jennings a little bit.
- 1:22:38Speaker 4: You know, how do these guys fit into what they
- 1:22:40Speaker 4: want to do and how can they get more speed
- 1:22:42Speaker 4: at the second level without you know, maybe going back
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: to traditional safeties, you know, go not having every safety
- 1:22:48Speaker 4: be a box safety. You actually putting some speed on
- 1:22:50Speaker 4: the and range on the back end. But it feels
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: like one of those things where you start to pull
- 1:22:54Speaker 4: one thread out and then all of a sudden, like
- 1:22:57Speaker 4: even the small little bit of you know, things that
- 1:22:59Speaker 4: you felt like, are we kind of have?
- 1:23:00Speaker 5: You know?
- 1:23:01Speaker 4: Like I like Jawan Bentley. I mean I I mean
- 1:23:03Speaker 4: to be honest, I haven't been the biggest supporter of him.
- 1:23:06Speaker 4: Like I think he's a good player. I don't think
- 1:23:08Speaker 4: he's a player that makes plays before they should happen.
- 1:23:12Speaker 4: I think he kind of cleans up the trash a
- 1:23:14Speaker 4: little bit. He brings physicality, but he's not one of
- 1:23:16Speaker 4: these guys that is beating blocks and making plays. You
- 1:23:19Speaker 4: know that, no question they missed him.
- 1:23:22Speaker 5: So I don't know.
- 1:23:22Speaker 4: I think that's a question for me. Kicking down the
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: kicking the can down the road.
- 1:23:26Speaker 5: I just like, I've been reading some stuff about that.
- 1:23:28Speaker 5: I think mass Live had some some stuff about that today.
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: I just was curious, what you know the ball knowing
- 1:23:35Speaker 4: Patty Patty is okay, he apologize, he said I'll call
- 1:23:38Speaker 4: in somebody I don't know, Patty. I expect a full
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: story about what was going down here.
- 1:23:43Speaker 5: I have to keep me up to date. I'll be
- 1:23:44Speaker 5: gob that's going.
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: It is an interesting point, though, that about pulling the thread,
- 1:23:50Speaker 3: because yeah, maybe ideally that he likes, you know, lighter
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: linebackers that that can cover more ground and all that
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: kind of stuff, But you know you can't make more
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: holes in the right like you already have, and you're
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: already taking on enough water, you start taking on more
- 1:24:04Speaker 3: water because you're just trying to find a type of
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: player that you like a little bit better than than
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: other people might like. And they missed Bentley last year.
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: But that's a lot of that's front mechanics and like
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: how you want to fit the run and how you
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: want to play those types of things. If you're playing
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: it differently, then there's a different type of player. And
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: I get that, But I just feel like you have
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: a good, solid linebacker and Juwan Bentley, you do have
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: some of those safeties that I think can be useful
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: when used properly. Like if you start peeling back all
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: these layers, then all of a sudden we're talking about
- 1:24:36Speaker 3: something even bigger.
- 1:24:37Speaker 4: It's like for me, I think the focus the defensive
- 1:24:39Speaker 4: line and getting like, you know, the edge really set,
- 1:24:41Speaker 4: getting somebody who can get pressure. I think, just like
- 1:24:44Speaker 4: I'm talking about speed with receivers, they need to they
- 1:24:47Speaker 4: need to address pass rush this offseason. They need to draft,
- 1:24:50Speaker 4: slash sign guys that impact the passer on third down.
- 1:24:53Speaker 4: I mean, it's just it was not good enough last year.
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: You don't know if you can count on Christian Barmore, who's,
- 1:24:57Speaker 4: you know, probably your best pass rusher, but after him,
- 1:25:00Speaker 4: it's like who you know? You know, even if Ferdy
- 1:25:03Speaker 4: Jenny plays, he's early down run stopper, kind of a guy.
- 1:25:07Speaker 4: You know, he can blitz Bentley a little bit. But
- 1:25:09Speaker 4: I think they need some guys with some juice getting
- 1:25:11Speaker 4: off that edge. Jeremiah writes in just kind of in
- 1:25:14Speaker 4: line with what we're saying. If Hunter and Carter are
- 1:25:16Speaker 4: not there for them, I'm all in on Campbell. I
- 1:25:19Speaker 4: get Mike's take, but Mason Graham isn't at a premium
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: position in a class that is loaded with D line players.
- 1:25:24Speaker 4: As Evan said, with Campbell, you at least have the
- 1:25:27Speaker 4: opportunity to try him at a premium position and if
- 1:25:29Speaker 4: it doesn't work out, then you end up with a
- 1:25:31Speaker 4: player that's not playing a premium position, just like Graham.
- 1:25:33Speaker 4: So I get that, right, I just I'm not I'm
- 1:25:36Speaker 4: with you, Ev. I'm not blown away by Mason Graham
- 1:25:39Speaker 4: at fourth overall. It's just it feels a little redundant
- 1:25:42Speaker 4: and that you've got options later that aren't as big
- 1:25:45Speaker 4: of a drop off as they would be at the
- 1:25:46Speaker 4: other spots.
- 1:25:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I think the argument, and you know, Paul's kind
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: of brought this up before in terms of like best
- 1:25:52Speaker 3: player available, right, just take the best player on the board,
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: regardless of position. Is like kind of the biggest argument
- 1:25:57Speaker 3: for Mason Graham is that you just feel like he's the.
- 1:25:59Speaker 5: Best football Will Campbell, right, if you think that, yes,
- 1:26:03Speaker 5: I'm not saying he is, and.
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: So that they're in a position where they just need
- 1:26:06Speaker 3: to stack talent on this roster and that's all that
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: they need to do. I just don't necessarily look at
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: it that way because I feel like there's more avenues
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: than one to add players.
- 1:26:18Speaker 5: Yep.
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: So if you feel like you need that type of
- 1:26:21Speaker 3: player in your front, which I'm not disagreeing that they
- 1:26:23Speaker 3: might need, but if you really feel like you need
- 1:26:25Speaker 3: like an impact three technique to rush the passer and
- 1:26:29Speaker 3: to do those types of things. You can go find
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: one in a different way that can still make that
- 1:26:35Speaker 3: sort of impact on your football team and free up
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: that fourth overall pick to use something you know, to
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: draft something else Whereas, like I said earlier, I don't
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: know if you can do that at tackle. I don't
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: know if you're going to be able to go out
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: and find a comparable left tackle someplace else Whereas I
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: think that there's three techniques all over the place in
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: this draft, Like you can get a rotational three technique
- 1:26:58Speaker 3: that can rush the passer on down in like the
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: fourth round of this draft, Like it's really truly that deep.
- 1:27:05Speaker 5: So and I would also say the whole best player available,
- 1:27:08Speaker 5: and I'm all for it. Like if we're talking about
- 1:27:13Speaker 5: Travis Hunter and Will Campbell, there's probably a sizeable gap
- 1:27:17Speaker 5: in talent there. Now, you can make an argument where
- 1:27:20Speaker 5: you don't really need another corner because you have Gonzales.
- 1:27:23Speaker 5: Now hypothetically obviously you need two, But there's such a difference,
- 1:27:28Speaker 5: in my opinion, between the talent level of Travis Hunter
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: and one of those other guys. Same with aut dual Carter,
- 1:27:36Speaker 5: I would take Travis Hunter. But if it's the difference
- 1:27:39Speaker 5: between Will Campbell and Mason Graham, yeah, I think you
- 1:27:42Speaker 5: could say that Graham's a better player maybe, but I
- 1:27:45Speaker 5: think you might get some people that say, now, you know,
- 1:27:47Speaker 5: Will Campbell is his arms are gonna you know, they're
- 1:27:49Speaker 5: going to measure up and he's going to be a
- 1:27:51Speaker 5: tackle and he's every bit worthy of top five pick.
- 1:27:55Speaker 5: So but either way, it seems pretty close to me,
- 1:27:59Speaker 5: and I think that is a huge need. Whereas defensive
- 1:28:02Speaker 5: the line depth, you know, those interior guys. Evan said
- 1:28:06Speaker 5: this about three times in the show, like you can
- 1:28:08Speaker 5: only play so many three techniques, you know, and I
- 1:28:11Speaker 5: got Jeremiah Farmer spec But what it kind of dovetails
- 1:28:14Speaker 5: into I am starting to read. I think Mike Giardi
- 1:28:16Speaker 5: had something today. Sounds like Barmore has been working out,
- 1:28:20Speaker 5: you know, nothing specifically about his future, but maybe there
- 1:28:26Speaker 5: have they have more information on how those blood clots
- 1:28:30Speaker 5: are going to be affecting him, and they might know
- 1:28:33Speaker 5: that he's going to be, you know, ready to go
- 1:28:35Speaker 5: with the start of the I don't know, I'm speculating,
- 1:28:37Speaker 5: but I did think it was interesting that Mike indicated
- 1:28:40Speaker 5: today sort of parenthetically, that he has been working out.
- 1:28:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's good in good info. Let's let's
- 1:28:46Speaker 4: let's give it another try here on the TPX hotline. It's
- 1:28:48Speaker 4: been a little bit of a little bit of a
- 1:28:49Speaker 4: disaster today. Not my phone, dude, any phones, Maybe it is,
- 1:28:53Speaker 4: but uh, let's let's check in with Brad for a while.
- 1:28:56Speaker 5: Hey Brad, Hey, Hey guys, how you doing.
- 1:28:59Speaker 4: Hey good? How are you.
- 1:29:02Speaker 7: Good?
- 1:29:02Speaker 6: Pretty good.
- 1:29:02Speaker 5: I'm glad we're talking about the draft because I got
- 1:29:05Speaker 5: some questions.
- 1:29:06Speaker 8: You know that.
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: I know I would go, yeah, do you had some
- 1:29:14Speaker 3: more of my my draft takes for you? Firewell, I'll
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: give you a couple more because we're we're struggling here
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: with the phones. You could be yeah, well, we'll get
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: to the emails here in a second. My other, my
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: other thing. I'm interested in your thoughts on dude. I
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: don't know how much you did on the tight ends yet,
- 1:29:31Speaker 3: but the tight ends to me another strength of this
- 1:29:34Speaker 3: class offensive side of the ball. I'd say running back
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: and tight end, or your two straints on that side
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: of the ball. And I look at these two tight
- 1:29:43Speaker 3: ends at the top of the draft and Tyler Warren
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: and uh Colston Loveland from Michigan, and both those guys
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: I thought, you know, I I did most of my
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: homework on them at the end of last week. I
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: liked a lot of both of those guys better than
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: any of the receivers. Travis under I kind of treats
- 1:30:00Speaker 3: his own thing, like he's his own category. But I
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: currently would have both those players over teed McMillan and
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: just in terms of overall talent. Sure, different positions, you
- 1:30:12Speaker 3: got to build it differently, all things true, But just
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: I thought both those guys were really really impressive.
- 1:30:17Speaker 4: Of me too. Yeah, I definitely watched both those guys.
- 1:30:21Speaker 4: You know, I just found myself as you got later.
- 1:30:24Speaker 4: What do you think of Jahem Bell? You know, that's
- 1:30:25Speaker 4: the question of kind of comping him, very athletic guy.
- 1:30:29Speaker 4: It with Mason Taylor from LSU is another one of those,
- 1:30:31Speaker 4: like you know, day two kind of later prospects. But no,
- 1:30:34Speaker 4: I thought it was I saw you tweet that out.
- 1:30:35Speaker 4: I was like, yeah, you know those I just keep
- 1:30:38Speaker 4: going back to. Gronk was a number one, right, Gronk
- 1:30:40Speaker 4: was a number one, And you know, maybe that is
- 1:30:42Speaker 4: the route. Maybe that's kind of the thing that we're
- 1:30:44Speaker 4: not really thinking of right now at four overall, we're
- 1:30:47Speaker 4: getting so focused on those top two guys, and you
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: know it might be a little bit of a stretch,
- 1:30:51Speaker 4: but but I just got an email too.
- 1:30:53Speaker 5: I want to see Dame Brugler put out his top
- 1:30:56Speaker 5: one hundred today and he had both of those guys,
- 1:30:59Speaker 5: and I think I forget where Warren was, but the
- 1:31:02Speaker 5: Michigan guy was eleven, so two in the top eleven. Yeah,
- 1:31:06Speaker 5: Warren tight ends Warren is.
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: I never like to compare guys to guys like Gronk,
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: but like, Warren's truly the closest thing I've seen from
- 1:31:15Speaker 3: Gronk as in terms of like a prospect since Gronk
- 1:31:18Speaker 3: was in the league. He is really just, you know,
- 1:31:23Speaker 3: has all the same traits. It's just probably not going
- 1:31:26Speaker 3: to be as good as Rob Gronkowski is, you know,
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: as an overall package. But like he's sixty six, two
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: hundred and sixty pounds, he can block his you know,
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: to his weight, he can use his size down the
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: field at the cashpoint. He's like a better route runner
- 1:31:39Speaker 3: and more explosive than what you would think at that size.
- 1:31:42Speaker 3: Like the only knock on Tyler Warren is that he's older,
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: he's going to be like twenty four to twenty five
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: as a rookie. So some people you know are a
- 1:31:49Speaker 3: just like that in the draft and it just turns
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: them off on that. Loveland to me is a lot
- 1:31:54Speaker 3: like Brock Bowers, like really explosive player and you know,
- 1:31:58Speaker 3: similar player to Brops, like if you don't want to
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: go that far, like a Sam Laporter or something like that.
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: You know that ilk of like receiving tight end, you know,
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: explosive receiving tight end. I thought with love one like
- 1:32:10Speaker 3: how fast he is at that size just pops right
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: off the film at you. So I'm excited about those
- 1:32:15Speaker 3: two guys as well.
- 1:32:16Speaker 4: This is a good email because I know you had
- 1:32:19Speaker 4: a tweet one of those days when I was going
- 1:32:21Speaker 4: through things and my half baked ideas, no, no, this
- 1:32:25Speaker 4: was well Nick Gortonton Scarton, Yeah, I really liked him.
- 1:32:29Speaker 4: I really liked him before I Steven saw your thing.
- 1:32:31Speaker 4: I think he's raw, but I just think he's a
- 1:32:33Speaker 4: bull in a china shop and he is.
- 1:33:26Speaker 3: Of pass rush moves in his bag. But both of
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: them are are that type of you know patriot, typical
- 1:33:34Speaker 3: edge rusher of like, you know, they got some size,
- 1:33:37Speaker 3: they have some power to their game. I would say
- 1:33:39Speaker 3: Stuart maybe a little bit more is like sort of
- 1:33:42Speaker 3: like that Ross Spetman. Stewart's like six five, two and
- 1:33:45Speaker 3: eighty pounds lying off days like he's like in a
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: in a lab to play like defensive end in the NFL,
- 1:33:53Speaker 3: but just a little bit you know, raw in terms
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: of his hand usage and his instincts and things like that.
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: Scoring to me is a little bit more like thicker,
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: a little squattier, but like he's got great quickness and
- 1:34:03Speaker 3: he's got a really good ability to him at that
- 1:34:06Speaker 3: size to move and very good athlete for his size.
- 1:34:09Speaker 3: So both those aggi's are gonna go very, very high.
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: And like when I get to this point of the draft,
- 1:34:14Speaker 3: I'm always like, so Texas A and M had two
- 1:34:17Speaker 3: first rounds on their defensive line and they still stunk,
- 1:34:21Speaker 3: Like I just don't understand how this happens, Like, you know,
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: it's just one of those things, you know, And they
- 1:34:26Speaker 3: have some guys that are gonna come out over the
- 1:34:27Speaker 3: next couple of years.
- 1:34:28Speaker 5: I want to say, their quarterback got hurt.
- 1:34:30Speaker 3: Yeah, and their offensive line I guess wasn't good. Because
- 1:34:32Speaker 3: I always text bar the I'm like, how did this happen?
- 1:34:34Speaker 5: Like, I think they only lost one game with their
- 1:34:37Speaker 5: regular quarterback. If I'm not mistake, I might be confusing
- 1:34:39Speaker 5: then when somebody else. But I think that was part
- 1:34:42Speaker 5: of the story for A and m yea.
- 1:34:43Speaker 4: Barth to go to with those kind of random, weird
- 1:34:45Speaker 4: questions where you're like.
- 1:34:46Speaker 3: Yes, he's my context guy, right, like yeah, I can
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: watch the film quite like.
- 1:34:51Speaker 5: But they're two edge guys from South Carolina too.
- 1:34:54Speaker 3: Yeah, so Canard is one of them. He's more of
- 1:34:58Speaker 3: like that like Joshua Cha, you know, screamer off the
- 1:35:01Speaker 3: edge later, you know that sort of thing. The other
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: one I think is I can't remember off the top
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: of my head if they have two. I know they
- 1:35:10Speaker 3: and I'm definitely as two those two guys are gonna
- 1:35:12Speaker 3: go the in the first round. But Canard is the
- 1:35:14Speaker 3: other one from South Carolina that tends to be talked
- 1:35:18Speaker 3: about in that like top fifty, top forty range, Okay,
- 1:35:21Speaker 3: but he's more of like a finesse one of those two.
- 1:35:23Speaker 5: I think they had bookends and they dominated some game
- 1:35:27Speaker 5: that I was watching late in the year. It was
- 1:35:28Speaker 5: another one of those UCLA ones for me, like he's
- 1:35:31Speaker 5: pretty good. Oh yeah, he's like the seventeenth Rader prospect.
- 1:35:35Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah. I like Canard a little bit. But
- 1:35:38Speaker 3: he's light, like he's gonna have play strength and like
- 1:35:42Speaker 3: those types of concerns. Like my guess is that he'll
- 1:35:44Speaker 3: be like more of like a situational pass rusher at
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: this level than a guy that's gonna play every down.
- 1:35:49Speaker 4: But Canard was the only one I watched it. I mean,
- 1:35:51Speaker 4: just throw some other names. The guys that that you know,
- 1:35:53Speaker 4: kind of tickle my fancy a little bit. To Amolau
- 1:35:56Speaker 4: from Ohio State. You guys obviously know him Land and
- 1:35:59Speaker 4: Jack Big not pass rusher though, like some of these guys,
- 1:36:04Speaker 4: I'm like, I need I need an element of pass rush.
- 1:36:06Speaker 4: I can't just have the uh, you know, the Jack
- 1:36:10Speaker 4: Sawyers of the world, like you know, I don't know,
- 1:36:11Speaker 4: but I just think there were a lot of guys
- 1:36:13Speaker 4: with some speed and uh and some interesting traits here
- 1:36:18Speaker 4: Mike Green to go back to the email here as.
- 1:36:20Speaker 5: A battle the threeen was was on at I want
- 1:36:25Speaker 5: to say he was like ten or twelve.
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: He's got he's got a bag.
- 1:36:28Speaker 5: That's Marshall guy.
- 1:36:29Speaker 3: Yeah, he's from Marshall. He played really well against Ohio
- 1:36:32Speaker 3: State during the season, played really well at the Senior Bowl,
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: so he did face some tougher competition.
- 1:36:37Speaker 5: And he's I'm not as familiar with because of the school. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:36:42Speaker 5: the last couple of weeks.
- 1:36:43Speaker 3: Legit, legit. Now he's another undersized you know, is he
- 1:36:47Speaker 3: going to be able to play all three downs? Is
- 1:36:49Speaker 3: he going to be able to have the length? His
- 1:36:50Speaker 3: length is a bubblo average, so he's not necessarily like
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: the biggest or the strongest of guys at the point
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: of attack, but he had some moves on those Ohio
- 1:36:59Speaker 3: State tackles are just filthy, you know, so he can
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: rush the passer.
- 1:37:03Speaker 4: Read some emails here at James Pettigrew the most interesting
- 1:37:06Speaker 4: man in the world, Patriots fan in the world alive. Sorry.
- 1:37:13Speaker 4: All I could think about when the blow was happening
- 1:37:15Speaker 4: was Fred's impression of Tom's speech. Instead of honor, he
- 1:37:18Speaker 4: was screaming, Who's dynasty? Your dynasty, your family's dynasty.
- 1:37:22Speaker 5: That's true.
- 1:37:23Speaker 4: That's too bad we don't get to get some freddie
- 1:37:25Speaker 4: uh reaction here today on that. Well, you went up
- 1:37:28Speaker 4: and spoke with him, didn't you? Yesterday?
- 1:37:29Speaker 5: I just think he was like me, it's just like, yeah,
- 1:37:32Speaker 5: it's just a terrible game.
- 1:37:38Speaker 4: He always lives on there.
- 1:37:39Speaker 5: It's just such a boring game. Just wanted to I
- 1:37:43Speaker 5: just wanted to watch a game. I know, I probably
- 1:37:46Speaker 5: would have started rooting for whoever was losing. Yeah, you know,
- 1:37:49Speaker 5: I was kind of rooting.
- 1:37:51Speaker 4: I was.
- 1:37:52Speaker 5: I was rooting for Kansas City just because of the
- 1:37:54Speaker 5: unique nature of what they were trying to do. But
- 1:37:58Speaker 5: I didn't. I honestly, I really didn't didn't care much
- 1:38:02Speaker 5: because I kind of like Philadelphia's whole thing. I know,
- 1:38:05Speaker 5: people hate Philadelphia almost as much as Kansas City. Around here,
- 1:38:08Speaker 5: I saw a lot. I saw a lot of rooting
- 1:38:11Speaker 5: for a media strike and no super Bowl, you know,
- 1:38:13Speaker 5: kind of comments. If they moved today, I think I would.
- 1:38:18Speaker 5: I mean, it was stunning. I'm glad you brought that up.
- 1:38:21Speaker 5: It was stunning. The most people ever watched the Super
- 1:38:24Speaker 5: Bowl for the fifty ninth consecutive year.
- 1:38:26Speaker 3: It was also stunning that it peaked right in like
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: towards the end of the second quarter, and then everybody
- 1:38:32Speaker 3: watched halftime.
- 1:38:33Speaker 5: And they dropped off after this. That I did see
- 1:38:37Speaker 5: that after.
- 1:38:38Speaker 3: Everybody thought stunk, Who Drake is no.
- 1:38:40Speaker 5: See. I just thought people want to watch the halftime
- 1:38:42Speaker 5: show and the game was a blowout, so they stopped watching.
- 1:38:44Speaker 5: I didn't take that as a shot at Kendrick. Maybe.
- 1:38:47Speaker 5: I mean, I've missed out on a lot of other
- 1:38:49Speaker 5: things with that show, so maybe that's another one. I
- 1:38:51Speaker 5: don't know about. Interesting. I didn't take that as a shot.
- 1:38:54Speaker 5: I thought it was like the game was over. I
- 1:38:56Speaker 5: watched everybody watches the halftime show, and then they were like, well,
- 1:39:00Speaker 5: why am I going to go back? It's twenty seven
- 1:39:02Speaker 5: to nothing. I just saw the show.
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: I just like, what else are you going to watch?
- 1:39:05Speaker 3: Because all other programming is on it?
- 1:39:08Speaker 5: Like that's a good point, Like it's not like it's
- 1:39:10Speaker 5: not like you're changing the channel, right.
- 1:39:12Speaker 3: Like I guess, like you know, nowadays with streaming and
- 1:39:14Speaker 3: stuff like that, I guess you could go watch your
- 1:39:16Speaker 3: show that you're like binging or whatever.
- 1:39:18Speaker 5: But probably right, that's probably like people, you know, some losers,
- 1:39:22Speaker 5: Like I'm gonna show them change the channel. You're not
- 1:39:27Speaker 5: gonna get my rating point, right.
- 1:39:29Speaker 4: You don't even have a ratings machine. Uh, Brandon the
- 1:39:32Speaker 4: main with a little rant here. I gotta you know,
- 1:39:33Speaker 4: I got a shout out to these Patriot fans, and
- 1:39:36Speaker 4: he said he sent this text to his dad, which
- 1:39:38Speaker 4: he cleaned up for the air. But let's let it rip.
- 1:39:41Speaker 4: I now feel safe to say this. All of the
- 1:39:44Speaker 4: Mahomes is better than Brady. People can suck it. Brady's
- 1:39:47Speaker 4: teams never got rolled in the Super Bowl like Mahomes
- 1:39:49Speaker 4: has twice now. Brady never played as poorly in the
- 1:39:52Speaker 4: Super Bowl as Mahomes has twice now. And Brady beat
- 1:39:55Speaker 4: Mahomes both times they met in the playoffs when he
- 1:39:58Speaker 4: was in his forties to boot an AFC championship and
- 1:40:01Speaker 4: a Super Bowl. Screw the Chiefs, Screw Mahomes. There was
- 1:40:04Speaker 4: only one goat, and his name is Thomas Edward Patrick Brady.
- 1:40:10Speaker 3: I love that email.
- 1:40:11Speaker 5: I couldn't agree more. I would agree with the last
- 1:40:13Speaker 5: sentence and the other one. I just don't really see
- 1:40:16Speaker 5: any relevance and the other stuff. But there's a fact.
- 1:40:21Speaker 5: It's a fact they played twice with everything on the line.
- 1:40:25Speaker 5: Brady beat them both times. That's fact, not opinion.
- 1:40:28Speaker 4: A little love here from I guess it's Rainaldi for Evan. Evan,
- 1:40:33Speaker 4: I was unfamiliar with your game, not football knowledge, but
- 1:40:36Speaker 4: music knowledge. I did not know you were such a
- 1:40:39Speaker 4: Kendrick fan, and I enjoyed the callback to some classic albums.
- 1:40:42Speaker 4: Now to kick off the offseason topic, what are your
- 1:40:45Speaker 4: top three Kendrick albums? No ties allowed.
- 1:40:47Speaker 3: Top three Kendrick albums, oh man, I mean, good Kid
- 1:40:52Speaker 3: Mad City will always be my number one. Came out
- 1:40:55Speaker 3: when I was in college, So it's just on top
- 1:40:58Speaker 3: of me loving the music, it's also just the nostalgic
- 1:41:00Speaker 3: thing for me that it was that that is that
- 1:41:03Speaker 3: is the peak of your life, of right, So a
- 1:41:07Speaker 3: Good Kid, Mad City. Money Trees is my favorite Kendrick
- 1:41:09Speaker 3: song of all time. I can understand that some of
- 1:41:12Speaker 3: those songs like money Trees not exactly appropriate for the
- 1:41:17Speaker 3: national audience, so maybe that was why he didn't play
- 1:41:20Speaker 3: some of that type of stuff. I personally like to
- 1:41:24Speaker 3: Pimp a Butterfly a lot. I know some people are
- 1:41:26Speaker 3: not like the biggest fans of it, but Alright is
- 1:41:29Speaker 3: probably like my second favorite Kendrick song of all time,
- 1:41:31Speaker 3: and I was very disappointed that he didn't play it.
- 1:41:34Speaker 3: I thought that that that is a banger like that
- 1:41:36Speaker 3: one usually gets people going a little bit, especially also
- 1:41:39Speaker 3: like King Kunta also gets people going, so I thought
- 1:41:41Speaker 3: that was a lot of people that like because that's
- 1:41:45Speaker 3: like a bop, you know, like that's the yeah, exact yes,
- 1:41:50Speaker 3: and then you know Section eighty is one of the
- 1:41:52Speaker 3: best mixtapes of all time.
- 1:41:53Speaker 4: So I mean ball Knower, Kendrick Knower, he is, he
- 1:41:58Speaker 4: likes his rap game, he knows it. Yeah, uh.
- 1:42:02Speaker 3: My other favorite rapper of all time. We don't talk
- 1:42:05Speaker 3: about him anymore.
- 1:42:05Speaker 4: So All on the Lights then a little.
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: Struggles this weekend on Twitter.
- 1:42:11Speaker 4: Hey, his girlfriend looks great. We might need Paul for
- 1:42:14Speaker 4: this one. Craig and Charlotte writes in I read that Chucks,
- 1:42:18Speaker 4: a Corps for was released ahead of free agency. Can
- 1:42:20Speaker 4: anyone explain the mechanics of this? If Chukes wants to
- 1:42:23Speaker 4: keep playing, why wouldn't we just let him sign with
- 1:42:25Speaker 4: another team? And at least maybe his contract factors into
- 1:42:28Speaker 4: the compic formula. He probably isn't signing huge contracts, so
- 1:42:31Speaker 4: maybe it doesn't matter either way and this gives him
- 1:42:33Speaker 4: a head start. Are they doing him a solid here?
- 1:42:35Speaker 4: I don't know. I mean, I knew we left the team,
- 1:42:37Speaker 4: I didn't know like what that entails that once the
- 1:42:39Speaker 4: contract comes at the end of the season.
- 1:42:41Speaker 5: If I were Mike rabel I would just get you know,
- 1:42:43Speaker 5: you would not get a compic for him, but not regardless.
- 1:42:46Speaker 5: But if I were rabel I would just want him
- 1:42:48Speaker 5: out of the building a sap like he quit on
- 1:42:51Speaker 5: them last year. He didn't want to play, Yeah, so
- 1:42:53Speaker 5: why be labored?
- 1:42:55Speaker 3: Just like what I mean, Look, maybe we've been talking
- 1:42:59Speaker 3: all show about there's not enough tackle, so like you
- 1:43:02Speaker 3: never know. But if you're another team, like he literally
- 1:43:05Speaker 3: just quit on his last team and said, I'm going
- 1:43:07Speaker 3: home with my you know, I'm taking my ball home,
- 1:43:09Speaker 3: like you really would want to put any faith in
- 1:43:12Speaker 3: that guy again to come back. Like to me, that
- 1:43:17Speaker 3: was probably the worst move that Elliott Wolf made last offseason,
- 1:43:21Speaker 3: was putting any ounce of trust in the fact that
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: you've scored for was going to be a solid, you know,
- 1:43:25Speaker 3: reliable starting tackle for the Patriots last year. I would
- 1:43:29Speaker 3: not touch that guy.
- 1:43:30Speaker 5: If not every lost unrestricted free agent warrants a compensatory
- 1:43:36Speaker 5: pick like this. Factors involved how much the guy signs for,
- 1:43:40Speaker 5: how much he played for you, how much he plays
- 1:43:42Speaker 5: for the new team, how many guys you sign as
- 1:43:45Speaker 5: compared to how many guys you lose.
- 1:43:46Speaker 3: That would be the biggest thing to me is like
- 1:43:48Speaker 3: they're going to sew offset any guys that they lose
- 1:43:52Speaker 3: this year by the spending that they do bringing in
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: new players that I would be shocked if they were
- 1:43:57Speaker 3: awarded any compicks.
- 1:44:00Speaker 5: Fully, yeah, hopefully they won't be. If they are, then
- 1:44:03Speaker 5: hopefully they're signing you know T Higgins and you know
- 1:44:06Speaker 5: who knows Ronnie Stanley, and you know, we're not worried
- 1:44:09Speaker 5: about how many guys we're losing. We're only worried about
- 1:44:11Speaker 5: bringing guys in.
- 1:44:13Speaker 4: El from Wisconsin chiming in here about my hosting Mike.
- 1:44:17Speaker 4: Phones aren't working. Also, Mike keeps going to calls instead
- 1:44:20Speaker 4: of emails. I think chat chat TP might be able
- 1:44:23Speaker 4: to help text with text the speech. If you're like
- 1:44:25Speaker 4: me and reading is hard, it is hard, pressures on
- 1:44:27Speaker 4: you got to, you know, blest these things out. So
- 1:44:29Speaker 4: I think, thank you El for keep me honest. I
- 1:44:32Speaker 4: don't know if if you're waiting on the phones out
- 1:44:33Speaker 4: and do we go back to the I wouldn't know.
- 1:44:35Speaker 4: All right, we're not going. We've had too many.
- 1:44:36Speaker 5: I do the black jack the already and I would
- 1:44:38Speaker 5: push away.
- 1:44:39Speaker 4: So if you're holding on callback on th we're gonna
- 1:44:43Speaker 4: fold them on the on the calls today on the
- 1:44:45Speaker 4: TPX outline. But I'm I'm blasting through emails here left
- 1:44:48Speaker 4: and right. Uh Ken from New Jersey chimes in. The
- 1:44:52Speaker 4: one thing that surprised me the most in the game
- 1:44:55Speaker 4: was that Reed and Mahomes didn't seem to make any
- 1:44:57Speaker 4: adjustments during the game. When you look at Super Bowls
- 1:44:59Speaker 4: fifty on fifty three, the Patriots definitely changed things up
- 1:45:03Speaker 4: when Plan A wasn't working.
- 1:45:05Speaker 5: They adjusted. Had they adjusted forty two?
- 1:45:08Speaker 4: Eh?
- 1:45:09Speaker 5: Good? When the Giants had four guys that kicked the
- 1:45:11Speaker 5: crap out of their offensive line for sixty It's.
- 1:45:13Speaker 4: A great comp to that because that was the same
- 1:45:15Speaker 4: kind of thing. I remember people that just they stop
- 1:45:17Speaker 4: running the ball, you know, like that, that kind of stuff.
- 1:45:19Speaker 5: But I don't really scored fourteen points and seven of
- 1:45:22Speaker 5: them came on the last drive.
- 1:45:24Speaker 4: I don't really see what the adjust like. I felt
- 1:45:26Speaker 4: like they were always kind of moving the ball. In
- 1:45:27Speaker 4: Super Bowl fifty one, it didn't feel like they did
- 1:45:30Speaker 4: they really adjust anything or did they just stop making
- 1:45:32Speaker 4: stupid mistakes and they started getting stops.
- 1:45:34Speaker 5: Other sudden the other team started and that too, turning
- 1:45:37Speaker 5: the ball over.
- 1:45:38Speaker 3: So this is a similar but separate pet peeve of
- 1:45:42Speaker 3: mind about the adjustments thing.
- 1:45:44Speaker 5: And I say this, that's why I asked you earlier
- 1:45:46Speaker 5: in the show, because that's been a prevalent themes. Andy
- 1:45:49Speaker 5: Reid is a terrible coach.
- 1:45:51Speaker 3: So and I say this, I know this is how
- 1:45:53Speaker 3: this is going to come off. So I'm going to
- 1:45:55Speaker 3: try to preface it by saying I say this with
- 1:45:56Speaker 3: all due respect, and I truly do would you know
- 1:46:00Speaker 3: if they made any adjustments, like like, would you know
- 1:46:04Speaker 3: right half the time, I don't even know, like right, like,
- 1:46:07Speaker 3: would you be able to sit down and can Yeah,
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: like they really they they did this instead of that
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: in the second half, or they did, you know, and
- 1:46:15Speaker 3: they went into the game with this plan and they
- 1:46:17Speaker 3: pivoted at halftime to be like no offense or anything.
- 1:46:20Speaker 3: But like, that's a that's a big one of mine,
- 1:46:22Speaker 3: Like you really don't think that Andy Reid, maybe one
- 1:46:25Speaker 3: of the greatest offensive minds of all time in the
- 1:46:27Speaker 3: history of the NFL, just called the same five plays
- 1:46:31Speaker 3: over and over again against the Eagles again.
- 1:46:33Speaker 5: I don't think. I mean, listen, I'm like you, I'm
- 1:46:36Speaker 5: an idiot, Like I don't I don't think it was
- 1:46:39Speaker 5: the plays. I think it was the execution. I know
- 1:46:41Speaker 5: that we heard this all year here, Yeah, and it
- 1:46:44Speaker 5: frustrated us. Yeah, but when you throw a fifteen yard
- 1:46:48Speaker 5: crossing route to DeAndre Hopkins and he just drops it, Like,
- 1:46:52Speaker 5: what are they supposed to do to adjust? Like, I
- 1:46:55Speaker 5: don't think the Eagles secondary did anything special. They were
- 1:47:00Speaker 5: better than the guys they were covering. Like, I mean,
- 1:47:05Speaker 5: at some point you just tip your cap and say,
- 1:47:07Speaker 5: the other they got us, they're better, Like, they were
- 1:47:10Speaker 5: probably better in nine out of the eleven spots, maybe
- 1:47:15Speaker 5: maybe eight out of the eleven spots. The Eagles defense,
- 1:47:18Speaker 5: Chiefs offense, and again Kansas City's m always it doesn't
- 1:47:24Speaker 5: really matter because we have Superman and Superman turned into
- 1:47:28Speaker 5: a puddle on Sunday. Like, I don't think you can
- 1:47:32Speaker 5: overstate how badly he played. You know, maybe it was
- 1:47:35Speaker 5: just to me it was just so jarring because he's
- 1:47:37Speaker 5: so good. Yeah, but he looked like completely overwhelm Kerry
- 1:47:43Speaker 5: Collins when he played for the Colts. He was awful
- 1:47:46Speaker 5: in that game.
- 1:47:48Speaker 4: I still prefer this this narrative. Though, Then if the
- 1:47:50Speaker 4: Chiefs had won, and granted this would have been a year,
- 1:47:53Speaker 4: maybe they were a little bit down. They weren't as
- 1:47:54Speaker 4: talented on offense as they might have been in the past.
- 1:47:57Speaker 4: But again the narrative was you just you have to
- 1:47:59Speaker 4: have a unicorn at quarterback. That's the secret. And I
- 1:48:02Speaker 4: kind of prefer now we're talking more about the trenches
- 1:48:05Speaker 4: and building the team through the draft and feeling, you know, unicorn,
- 1:48:08Speaker 4: you know, but that that's a unicorn, which one hitting
- 1:48:12Speaker 4: all the hitting on in the draft picks like they do.
- 1:48:14Speaker 4: That's it is, it is.
- 1:48:15Speaker 3: But I do think for whatever reason I said this
- 1:48:17Speaker 3: in the beginning of the show, whatever reason, it feels
- 1:48:19Speaker 3: more attenable. I I think that because it's like getting
- 1:48:22Speaker 3: a guy like Brady or Mahomes to play quarterback for
- 1:48:25Speaker 3: your team in his prime, like and line it all
- 1:48:28Speaker 3: up and everything like that. I agree, it's literally like
- 1:48:31Speaker 3: getting struck by lightning, right, like, especially in Brady's case,
- 1:48:34Speaker 3: no offense, sixth round pick, like falling in your lap
- 1:48:37Speaker 3: and having that happen. But like just in general, like
- 1:48:40Speaker 3: it feels like being struck by lightning, whereas it did
- 1:48:43Speaker 3: with the Eagles, Like that's just good GMing, right, Like
- 1:48:45Speaker 3: you just had you had a guy. I just put
- 1:48:47Speaker 3: together a great roster.
- 1:48:49Speaker 5: How many points. Do you think the Eagles would have
- 1:48:50Speaker 5: scored on Sunday if Gardner Minshew was their quarterback like
- 1:48:57Speaker 5: Aidan O'Connell.
- 1:48:58Speaker 3: Yeah, no, that's a fair point. And I do think
- 1:49:00Speaker 3: the way they run their offense is very much because
- 1:49:03Speaker 3: of what Hurts can do.
- 1:49:04Speaker 5: Jalen Hurts is not that guy that Evan's talking about,
- 1:49:10Speaker 5: but it's hard to say he's not a top ten quarterback.
- 1:49:13Speaker 5: I know a lot of people said yesterday they probably
- 1:49:15Speaker 5: put him five. I think that's too high. But he's
- 1:49:18Speaker 5: a pretty good player, you know. So it's not like
- 1:49:23Speaker 5: they have nothing Evans favorite nothing at quarterback Brock Party. Like,
- 1:49:28Speaker 5: it's not like they have like a negative.
- 1:49:30Speaker 3: You're saying if the forty nine ers said Jalen Hurts,
- 1:49:32Speaker 3: they would have won the super Bowl last year.
- 1:49:34Speaker 5: Yes, thank you, Yes, but no, but I think quarterback,
- 1:49:41Speaker 5: but I think Hurts is pretty good, Like I think
- 1:49:44Speaker 5: I don't think that I don't think they lost. We
- 1:49:46Speaker 5: disagree because I don't think they lost the game because
- 1:49:48Speaker 5: of Rock Party. I think that Jalen Hurts would have
- 1:49:52Speaker 5: been that much better than Brock Purty and that might
- 1:49:54Speaker 5: have been enough for you to win an overtime game
- 1:49:56Speaker 5: like do you know what I'm saying. What I'm saying, Yeah,
- 1:49:58Speaker 5: I also do. I think Jalen Hurts is pretty I
- 1:50:01Speaker 5: was a little surprised about how well we threw the
- 1:50:02Speaker 5: ball the last two playoff games because he hasn't really
- 1:50:06Speaker 5: done that as much this year. In that game the
- 1:50:09Speaker 5: other day, I mean, he made some unbelievable throws. He
- 1:50:14Speaker 5: didn't have to throw it that much. I think he
- 1:50:16Speaker 5: only threw the ball like twenty twenty two times or.
- 1:50:18Speaker 4: Something like that, but he was like eighteen to twenty
- 1:50:21Speaker 4: one something like that.
- 1:50:21Speaker 5: The bombs were perfect. The third he had one bad throw.
- 1:50:26Speaker 5: I thought one bad throw all night, and that was
- 1:50:28Speaker 5: the horrific call on Trent McDuffie for happening to go
- 1:50:32Speaker 5: near Dallas Garda after the ball had already passed. Like
- 1:50:37Speaker 5: that's another thing in this game, Patriots fans. If the
- 1:50:41Speaker 5: Chiefs won, that switched the uniforms the Chiefs wore green
- 1:50:45Speaker 5: in the Eagles. If that game unfolded exactly the same
- 1:50:48Speaker 5: way and all those calls went against the Eagles and
- 1:50:53Speaker 5: they lost forty to twenty two because the other team
- 1:50:55Speaker 5: just kicked the snot out of them, people would have
- 1:50:57Speaker 5: said it was fixed. That was the most blatant over
- 1:51:00Speaker 5: correction on officiating it. Now, it didn't matter a lick
- 1:51:04Speaker 5: because after that one horrific offensive pass interppearance they called
- 1:51:08Speaker 5: on aj Brown, which I thought was horrific. There was
- 1:51:11Speaker 5: about eight calls that would have like normally either knock,
- 1:51:16Speaker 5: how about the strip sack when Mahomes got hit in
- 1:51:18Speaker 5: the face. Yeah, I didn't hear anybody saying will Will
- 1:51:22Speaker 5: Anderson didn't even touch them right. And by the way,
- 1:51:25Speaker 5: in my league, that's not a penalty. I'm good with
- 1:51:27Speaker 5: no call on a bad time.
- 1:51:28Speaker 3: The Chiefs don't get every penalty.
- 1:51:30Speaker 5: But this is my point.
- 1:51:31Speaker 3: If that happened when the game is straight up, they lose.
- 1:51:34Speaker 5: If that happened the other way, people would have said
- 1:51:36Speaker 5: that the Chiefs only when Theirs aren't handed. They would
- 1:51:40Speaker 5: have said they handed in the game if they got
- 1:51:42Speaker 5: those calls, and that had nothing to do with that game.
- 1:51:45Speaker 5: Do you know what I'm saying? Yeah, well, I mean
- 1:51:47Speaker 5: that call on Trent McDuffie was criminal. Criminal.
- 1:51:50Speaker 4: That was the one right at the top, right like first.
- 1:51:52Speaker 5: The second series, they were going to go three and
- 1:51:54Speaker 5: out the second series after get losing the fourth down
- 1:51:57Speaker 5: completion on a bad call, right, Yeah, they were going
- 1:52:01Speaker 5: to go three and out and then they did that.
- 1:52:03Speaker 5: How about the blowing up screen pass that they call
- 1:52:07Speaker 5: like the late It would have been second and twenty
- 1:52:09Speaker 5: six and they call like the guy went by him
- 1:52:11Speaker 5: and knocked over Saquon Bar Like. Yeah, the game was
- 1:52:15Speaker 5: poorly officiated again, but no one cares because the Chiefs lost.
- 1:52:18Speaker 3: It's about times will blowout.
- 1:52:19Speaker 4: Uh. Drew from Walla Walla writes in, I was listening to.
- 1:52:23Speaker 5: Just hate officials, not teams.
- 1:52:25Speaker 4: This is from Drew from Walla Walla. Oh hey, I
- 1:52:28Speaker 4: was listening as I always do to Patriots Happy Birthday Friday,
- 1:52:32Speaker 4: and enjoyed the discussion about Patriots who should be in
- 1:52:34Speaker 4: the hall until Duce mentioned Rodney, Harrison and Paul immediately,
- 1:52:37Speaker 4: without any hesitation, announced Rodney was my favorite Patriot ever.
- 1:52:41Speaker 4: Not gonna lie that was a little bit hurtful.
- 1:52:45Speaker 5: I can't lie, but you have to say to your friends, lie, Drew,
- 1:52:48Speaker 5: It's true.
- 1:52:50Speaker 4: That wasn't really from Drew, but well done, Stephen. It was.
- 1:52:56Speaker 5: Yeah, Drew Drew's number two.
- 1:53:00Speaker 4: Well, I like knowing you, Paul, like Drew still connects
- 1:53:03Speaker 4: to fan Paul, whereas Rodney your love for Rodney probably
- 1:53:06Speaker 4: is just more of a appreciation professionally, right, Like Drew
- 1:53:11Speaker 4: was just when you could have fun and not you know,
- 1:53:13Speaker 4: be a fan fan.
- 1:53:14Speaker 5: No, I really enjoyed watching Drew play, and I did
- 1:53:16Speaker 5: have a decent relationship with him, you know, you know
- 1:53:19Speaker 5: when I covered him and he was he was great.
- 1:53:23Speaker 5: But it's I think it's a little bit more difficult
- 1:53:24Speaker 5: for a quarterback to have that, whereas Rodney was just
- 1:53:29Speaker 5: he was fit. Did you get to cover Rodney at all?
- 1:53:31Speaker 3: No, No, he already gone unfortunately. But Rodney was one
- 1:53:35Speaker 3: of my favorite players as a fan.
- 1:53:36Speaker 5: He was just so easy to talk to in the
- 1:53:38Speaker 5: locker room. He would be you would have loved him
- 1:53:40Speaker 5: because he gives you. Some of the others he'd make
- 1:53:42Speaker 5: fun of you. He would make he would make fun
- 1:53:45Speaker 5: of you for breaking down the stuff, and he would
- 1:53:46Speaker 5: try to throw you off the scent. But yeah, he'd
- 1:53:49Speaker 5: talked to you a little bit about what some of
- 1:53:50Speaker 5: the things. Remember when they used to switch him in
- 1:53:52Speaker 5: ty Law, Yeah, you know, like they would Law would
- 1:53:56Speaker 5: play safety and and Rodney would play corner to do
- 1:53:59Speaker 5: the bump and and be physical and all it. So
- 1:54:02Speaker 5: he would talk about some of that stuff a little bit,
- 1:54:04Speaker 5: you know, usually after the fact only, but he was
- 1:54:07Speaker 5: he was great to cover.
- 1:54:09Speaker 3: Who would used to do that to me? It was
- 1:54:10Speaker 3: it was Devin. Devin would all. I would go up
- 1:54:12Speaker 3: to Devin with like a real football question and to
- 1:54:14Speaker 3: be like, I've never heard of that in my life.
- 1:54:17Speaker 3: And I'd just like have this like look on my face,
- 1:54:20Speaker 3: like am I just a moron? And he'd be like, now,
- 1:54:22Speaker 3: I'm just kidding with you. But he'd always it'd be
- 1:54:26Speaker 3: like two days later though, like he wouldn't tell me
- 1:54:28Speaker 3: in the moment, oh really yeah, yeah, match coverage. I've
- 1:54:35Speaker 3: never heard of that before. I have no idea.
- 1:54:37Speaker 4: Get out of here, yeah yeah, uh, just real quick
- 1:54:39Speaker 4: to plug. My two thousand and four podcast would be
- 1:54:43Speaker 4: coming out next week.
- 1:54:44Speaker 5: Excited about that, but bumble bride.
- 1:54:45Speaker 4: Along these hungb trying to promote my work.
- 1:54:48Speaker 5: But I I not so humble.
- 1:54:50Speaker 4: I spoke with, you know, with Matt Matty p for
- 1:54:52Speaker 4: this and and one thing he said about this linebacker
- 1:54:55Speaker 4: room was just how professional those guys were. He said
- 1:54:58Speaker 4: his first you know, his first year was here in
- 1:55:00Speaker 4: two thousand and four, and he said, well, you know,
- 1:55:02Speaker 4: we got to mini camp and I listened to those
- 1:55:04Speaker 4: guys on the practice field, and the communication was so
- 1:55:09Speaker 4: loud and crisp on every single play in Ota. So
- 1:55:13Speaker 4: he you know, first time as an NFL coach, that's
- 1:55:15Speaker 4: what Maddy p is witnessing with with some of those guys.
- 1:55:18Speaker 4: The other thing he said was, like Mike Rabel, He's
- 1:55:20Speaker 4: like Mike Frable was never out of shape. Mike Frable
- 1:55:22Speaker 4: could have played a football game in the middle of
- 1:55:24Speaker 4: April if you needed him to, he would have hopped
- 1:55:26Speaker 4: right in there. So just some of the cool insight
- 1:55:28Speaker 4: into that defense. How special it was back in n
- 1:55:30Speaker 4: O four and you know with Rodney Harrison and there.
- 1:55:33Speaker 4: I mean, you know, you get away from those things,
- 1:55:36Speaker 4: and you know, even when I got here, you still
- 1:55:37Speaker 4: had the high towers of the world, and you know,
- 1:55:39Speaker 4: you had still some of the macarities of the world.
- 1:55:42Speaker 4: Some of these guys really generationally respected kind of players.
- 1:55:45Speaker 4: And but you know, you get to the point now
- 1:55:46Speaker 4: where you realize, like man, that that's gone. Like those
- 1:55:49Speaker 4: kind of guys where I mean he said, they didn't
- 1:55:51Speaker 4: even carry their playbooks around. They just knew it. They
- 1:55:52Speaker 4: didn't they didn't need playbooks anymore. They knew what they
- 1:55:54Speaker 4: were running all the time, you know, you hope you
- 1:55:56Speaker 4: can try to get back to that. I'm sure there's
- 1:55:58Speaker 4: probably something very able wants to do.
- 1:55:59Speaker 3: Yeah, and yet none of them can sniff the Hall
- 1:56:01Speaker 3: of Fame. Funny how that works.
- 1:56:05Speaker 5: Do you ever get tired of that? What just whining
- 1:56:08Speaker 5: all the time?
- 1:56:09Speaker 3: No? Not when it comes to the Hall of Fame,
- 1:56:11Speaker 3: which I think is the biggest joke about the sport.
- 1:56:13Speaker 5: So it is we haven't had a show, right, that
- 1:56:18Speaker 5: was Thursday. It's a Hall of Fame. I mean yeah,
- 1:56:20Speaker 5: I pulled on only a couple of minutes left. Just
- 1:56:25Speaker 5: interesting to me that only four people in the class.
- 1:56:28Speaker 5: They've changed it a little bit, what's it eighty percent
- 1:56:30Speaker 5: now you need so it's a little bit more challenging
- 1:56:34Speaker 5: to get in, and the class is smaller, which I
- 1:56:37Speaker 5: don't necessarily have a problem with. I don't. I'm not
- 1:56:39Speaker 5: sure that I understand some of the guys that made
- 1:56:42Speaker 5: the cut. I mean, obviously Adam Vinitariy is going to
- 1:56:48Speaker 5: be a Hall of Famer, so not necessarily too concerned
- 1:56:53Speaker 5: about the not on the first ballot thing. That's for,
- 1:56:57Speaker 5: you know, for other people. I was pleasantly surprised that
- 1:56:59Speaker 5: Eli didn't make it, and not because I'm an Eli
- 1:57:03Speaker 5: Manning hater. I just don't really think he's a Hall
- 1:57:05Speaker 5: of Fame caliber player. I know he'll probably get in
- 1:57:08Speaker 5: based on his two Super Bowls, but I don't really
- 1:57:10Speaker 5: think that his body of work deserved it. So I
- 1:57:13Speaker 5: was glad that he didn't get in right away.
- 1:57:15Speaker 3: Yeah, Reese talked to is John McLean? Am I thinking
- 1:57:19Speaker 3: of the diehard guy?
- 1:57:20Speaker 5: Yeah? John McLean?
- 1:57:21Speaker 3: So, yeah, longtime Texans writer, like longtime NFL reporter, and
- 1:57:26Speaker 3: he's in the room for the Hall of Fame voting,
- 1:57:28Speaker 3: and he said there was a ton of Vinitary support
- 1:57:31Speaker 3: in the room to the point where it was like
- 1:57:33Speaker 3: kind of shocking even to people that were in the
- 1:57:35Speaker 3: room when the results came through, that that he wasn't
- 1:57:38Speaker 3: going to make it on the first ballot. But he
- 1:57:41Speaker 3: mentioned the eighty percent voting threshold. I guess that was
- 1:57:45Speaker 3: maybe caught some people didn't know that or like that
- 1:57:48Speaker 3: was new this year, and it kind of caught some
- 1:57:51Speaker 3: people by surprise, and so they it was sounded like
- 1:57:55Speaker 3: it was really really close for Vinitary and for Luke
- 1:57:59Speaker 3: Keekley and both those guys.
- 1:58:01Speaker 5: Luke is another one that surprised me.
- 1:58:02Speaker 3: Not getting it, are gonna they They're gonna be fine,
- 1:58:06Speaker 3: married into the finalists next year, like their grandfathered.
- 1:58:08Speaker 5: In because the high enough.
- 1:58:10Speaker 3: Yeah, and so like that's really just a matter of time.
- 1:58:14Speaker 3: But I still just I got to vouch for my guys,
- 1:58:17Speaker 3: Like I still feel like it's too hard for some
- 1:58:19Speaker 3: of these dynasty or patriots to get into the Hall.
- 1:58:23Speaker 3: But I think that, you know, reading some of the
- 1:58:25Speaker 3: stuff post Hall of Fame, it definitely sounds like there
- 1:58:28Speaker 3: are even some people that voted on it that were like, wait.
- 1:58:31Speaker 10: No, no coach contributor. Yeah, builds up next year. So
- 1:58:38Speaker 10: we'll see how that goes. You know, maybe we'll be
- 1:58:41Speaker 10: headed there. Maybe Bill Ann Vinitaria.
- 1:58:44Speaker 5: Maybe perhaps maybe maybe builds.
- 1:58:46Speaker 4: Up unless he comes unless he comes back to the NFL. Well,

- 1:59:18Speaker 4: hal for you, guys. Are we reaching an oversaturation point
- 1:59:20Speaker 4: with Peyton and Eli? Is this bit getting old yet?
- 1:59:22Speaker 4: Have we seen enough of those two?
- 1:59:23Speaker 5: We get it? I mean, I enjoy this, but there's
- 1:59:26Speaker 5: a lot the Kelsey's I'm done with.
- 1:59:29Speaker 3: That's gonna get worse if Travis retires them.
- 1:59:32Speaker 5: At least Peyton and Eli are funny, Like I don't
- 1:59:34Speaker 5: find Jason.
- 1:59:36Speaker 4: And at all. I don't find it funny at all.
- 1:59:39Speaker 5: I just being I.
- 1:59:40Speaker 3: Don't find Travis funny. I think Jason Kelsey is a
- 1:59:43Speaker 3: little bit more entertaining, and I do think he actually
- 1:59:46Speaker 3: talks ball pretty well when they let him. When they
- 1:59:48Speaker 3: don't just let him, like make him do like the
- 1:59:50Speaker 3: stick of being Jason.
- 1:59:51Speaker 5: I think that's all he ever does.
- 1:59:55Speaker 4: All right, folks, Well that's gonna do it for this trio.
- 1:59:57Speaker 5: Paul's Paul and Commercials. I mean that one's kind of funny,
- 2:00:04Speaker 5: but like there's just too many of them.
- 2:00:06Speaker 4: Too much? Thanks, all right, fellas, it's gonna do it.
