- 0:00Gloria Lorelai Lee:: Living a life that's true to me, that
- 0:03feels really authentic to me, that feels aligned with my own
- 0:06personal truths and values, and having the courage to not follow
- 0:11the conventional path what society or family has
- 0:15conditioned us to believe, what success may look like, you got
- 0:19to define that on your own terms. It's going to look very
- 0:23differently to everybody. I think essentially, we all have
- 0:27our own shared humanity where we have the same, similar journeys
- 0:31and similar emotions, wants, desires at the end of the day,
- 0:35but we all have different ways of going about it. But I think
- 0:39just continuing to follow your heart, following your gut and
- 0:42intuition, and discerning what's your own truth versus all the
- 0:45outside noise, you can have so many different people's opinions
- 0:49and guidance. But at the end of the day, you know yourself best.
- 0:56Dr. Jim Price:: Hello, I'm Dr. Jim Price, and welcome to The
- 1:00Purpose and Progress Podcast. This is the place where we
- 1:03explore how purpose can guide our actions, and how growth can
- 1:07become a part of our everyday lives. On the show, I talk with
- 1:12amazing guests, from educators and creators to everyday people
- 1:16with extraordinary stories about the challenges they face, the
- 1:20lessons they've learned, and how to keep moving forward. My goal
- 1:24is to share conversations that inspire you to live
- 1:26intentionally, embrace growth, and take meaningful steps to
- 1:30your own purpose. Let's get started.
- 1:37Hello, everyone. Welcome again. This is The Purpose and Progress
- 1:41Podcast Show. I'm your host, Dr. Jim Price. We are here to share
- 1:46inspirational stories about inspirational folks doing
- 1:49amazing things to help others, inspire others to be better
- 1:53versions of themselves, and to be reaching for, and motivated
- 1:56toward, and growing, and nurturing their own selves, and
- 1:59their own personal lives. And today is no different. We have a
- 2:02wonderful guest. She is a certified high-performance coach
- 2:06and energy healer who helps people develop clarity through
- 2:09courage, resilience, and purpose. Her journey has shaped
- 2:15by adversity, uncertainty, and unconventional choices.
- 2:19Including growing up amid mental health challenges, poverty, and
- 2:22loneliness. Leaving a stable hospitality career to work in
- 2:27Australia, and later moving to Africa to serve with a volunteer
- 2:30organization. These experiences led her to build a
- 2:34purpose-driven coaching business focused on helping people take
- 2:39aligned action before they feel fully ready. She brings an
- 2:43honest perspective on resilience, personal growth,
- 2:47purpose, and the mind self shifts that can transform
- 2:51adversity into meaningful life of service. Today, we have
- 2:55Gloria Lee. Gloria Lee, how are you doing today?
- 2:58Gloria Lorelai Lee:: I'm doing really well. How about you?
- 3:00Thanks for having me.
- 3:01Dr. Jim Price:: I'm just blessed. We talk about the
- 3:03differences, you're in Canada, and I'm in Massachusetts, and
- 3:06with NBA Basketball Hall of Fame induction ceremonies happening
- 3:10and stuff. I'm familiar with a lot of the stuff that we have. I
- 3:14keep up with a lot. I have connections, and a lot of the
- 3:17people in Canada too, so I definitely love that. I'm so
- 3:20definitely blessed to have you on the show to share your story,
- 3:24your motivational story in terms of things. I would say, we talk
- 3:28a little bit, people see the finished product, they see the
- 3:31finish line, but they don't see when things started. They don't
- 3:35see the starting line. They only see the finish line, success and
- 3:39things like that. And sometimes, that gets lost and shuffled. So
- 3:42this is what the show is about, to share those aspects of the
- 3:46wonderful guests that we have with the audience so they can
- 3:48Gloria Lorelai Lee:: Yeah. It's been a long journey. There's
- 3:49connect better to knowing the person more outside the success.
- 3:53So this is what it's about. So if you were to start to share,
- 3:57what do you feel when you started your journey? What
- 3:58been so many chapters, so many seasons in my life that I've
- 4:00influenced you to start on your journey to success and stuff
- 4:03like that?
- 4:12went through over the years, over the decades. I've always
- 4:17been someone that's always been very curious about the meaning
- 4:21of life. I've always been into personal growth and development,
- 4:25and just in continuous improvement, right? But in the
- 4:30early stages of my life, I did grow up around, in my
- 4:35upbringing, a lot of mental health challenges with anxiety
- 4:40and depression within my family. And through that upbringing,
- 4:47there was a lot of different things that I was going through.
- 4:50And all the way up into my youth and in my 20s, I was doing a lot
- 4:54of traveling in search of something outside of myself,
- 4:57something bigger, like the meaning behind all of it. And to
- 5:02kind of sum things up, I would say around the pandemic years
- 5:05when the world was in lockdown, those were like the prime years
- 5:10where I really got to do a deep dive into personal development,
- 5:14my healing journey, and really go deep into what experience
- 5:20have I encountered, what adversities, what experiences
- 5:24have shaped me into who I am today, and who it's made me
- 5:28become. And then now I'm here, and I'm still at it. We're still
- 5:33on this human journey, and it's never ending. It's always a
- 5:37continuous process and a journey. But yeah, thanks for
- 5:42having me once again.
- 5:44Dr. Jim Price:: That's what I always say to my students. I do
- 5:46the counselor with the kids and stuff too, and I'm always
- 5:49saying, hey, every day is a brand new day to learn things,
- 5:52to be better, to improve yourself. We all make mistakes.
- 5:56That's what life is about. You make mistakes. You hopefully
- 5:59learn from those mistakes, and you use those mistakes to grow
- 6:02and nurture your own personal growth. And I think that's a lot
- 6:05of what you're been doing. Using whatever obstacles and
- 6:10challenges to actually grow and nurture yourself, and make
- 6:15progress in terms of where you want to go, and what you want to
- 6:17do. And of course, having your story help others to be able to
- 6:21overcome their challenges and stuff. Because sometimes, I
- 6:25always say, you never know who's watching, never know who you're
- 6:27influencing through your story of enduring challenges and
- 6:32overcoming obstacles in life. That's so wonderful. Of course,
- 6:36it's always wonderful to have people sharing their story like
- 6:40that. I know we talk about obstacles a little bit and
- 6:43things like that. What do you feel were some of the obstacles
- 6:46that were maybe challenge or challenges that you face upon
- 6:50your journey to success in that way?
- 6:52Gloria Lorelai Lee:: I think through most of my life, it was
- 6:55dealing with anxiety, dealing with depression, dealing with
- 6:58loneliness. Feeling like the people, I had a lot of friends
- 7:04growing up in school, all of that, but I still felt kind of
- 7:07lonely. Like no one else was going through what I was going
- 7:11through, and I was in search of something deeper and more
- 7:15meaningful at the same time and all of those things. And of
- 7:20course, with all the things that I grew up with in childhood, I
- 7:25think later when I grew up, I kind of dealt with addiction
- 7:28patterns. I went through existential crises. I've had
- 7:32spiritual awakenings and out of body experiences where I've had
- 7:37chapters. I've awakened to the fact that, oh, we're energy
- 7:41beings. We're souls having infinite lifetimes. All of these
- 7:44things, and that was a huge, huge journey I went through. But
- 7:50there was a lot of different things throughout. But I think
- 7:53during the pandemic years, even though I was doing all of the
- 7:56work, the inner work, the personal development work, some
- 7:59of the things that I was struggling with was because I
- 8:02was doing all this work. There was so much energy and focus on
- 8:05the past and what has happened to me, and the stories that I
- 8:10was constantly putting so much energy, that that was my life. I
- 8:15wasn't able to enjoy my life anymore or the simplicity of the
- 8:18day to day life. The focus was that I was in a way reliving
- 8:25some of it. I think it's important to have that balance
- 8:27of really doing the work, and introspecting, and reflecting.
- 8:33But then also moving through it so that you're learning through
- 8:35it, and then you're continuing on with life. But I think the
- 8:39struggle I had was I didn't know where the balance was. I either
- 8:42went deep into personal development and then into the
- 8:45healing healing journey where I got so focused in all the
- 8:50traumas and the drama that came with that. I was stuck there,
- 8:53and I was almost drowning in my emotions, and know how to get
- 8:56out of it. And especially when you go through seasons of
- 8:59anxiety and depression, it's really hard to move out of it.
- 9:04When you're in the middle of it, it just feels like you're barely
- 9:07surviving. If you are surviving, it's minute to minute, day to
- 9:10day, week to week. And it really does take a lot. There's a lot
- 9:16behind the scenes when people are going through life and doing
- 9:20the inner work that you don't see.
- 9:23Dr. Jim Price:: So true. As I always say, the first step is
- 9:27always the most important step, realizing that there's a
- 9:30problem. And mental health is just such a major thing today.
- 9:35There's so much around that. But then there's such a lack of
- 9:39resources to address a lot of that and stuff like that. When
- 9:42you see how the mental health, even in school settings and
- 9:45stuff like that, how mental health has been a major
- 9:48challenge for students, college students, adults living their
- 9:52adult lives, and trying to work through traumas and stuff like
- 9:56that that they may have not have worked through. Whether
- 9:59childhood trauma or just stress, anxiety. A lot of those are
- 10:02challenges that can definitely impact people's lives and stuff
- 10:05like that. And to be able to recognize and be like, okay,
- 10:09there's a problem here. That's the first step. And then doing
- 10:11those actionable steps toward trying to address a lot of those
- 10:16things is so important. I like that you pointed that out in
- 10:19terms of the journey and the spiritual aspects of it, stuff
- 10:22like that. I totally incorporate prayer in everything I do, so I
- 10:26definitely resonate with the spiritual aspects of it. And the
- 10:29science of synchronicity, all the stuff that goes with it and
- 10:32stuff like that too, so thank you. That was so great right
- 10:36there. If you were to say, as far as achievements, various
- 10:41things like that, what would you say that you hold dear to you in
- 10:44terms of maybe achievements and stuff like that that you feel
- 10:47that you hold dear?
- 10:49Gloria Lorelai Lee:: Yeah. I would say, just living a life
- 10:51that's true to me, that feels really authentic to me, that
- 10:55feels aligned with my own personal truths and values. And
- 11:00having the courage to not follow the conventional path, what
- 11:04society or family has conditioned us to believe, what
- 11:08success may look like, you got to define that on your own
- 11:11terms. It's going to look very differently to everybody. I
- 11:15think essentially, we all have our own shared humanity where we
- 11:19have the same similar journeys, and similar emotions, wants,
- 11:25desires at the end of the day. But we all have different ways
- 11:27of going about it. But I think just continuing to follow your
- 11:31heart, following your gut and intuition, and discerning what's
- 11:35your own truth versus all the outside noise. You can have so
- 11:38many different people's opinions and guidance. But at the end of
- 11:41the day, you know yourself best. And so it's really tuning
- 11:44inward, and doing the inner work. I would say those are the
- 11:48things. And by following my passions, being of service where
- 11:53I can, even the little things and the little interactions in
- 11:56the day to day with the people that's within your circle and in
- 12:00your interactions, I would say that, but ultimately, just
- 12:04living a life that's true to you, and also being resourceful.
- 12:09I didn't grow up with quite a lot. But I was resourceful in a
- 12:14sense that, luckily, I am grateful that I grew up in an
- 12:17age where you do have access to a lot of information online. So
- 12:22as you said, even though sometimes the school system
- 12:25might be a little bit outdated, or it feels like it's lacking in
- 12:29resources when it comes to the mental health side of things,
- 12:31there's a lot of resources that are shared online with a lot of
- 12:35people sharing valuable insights and wisdom, and that's how I
- 12:40kind of found my way through things, and got the the
- 12:44resources and the help that I need to just tuning into what I
- 12:49had access to, which was books, podcasts, all of the things to
- 12:55get me to hear different schools of thought and perspectives,
- 12:59open my mind up to the world and all of that, so there is that as
- 13:05well. And I know that I did in my personal journey, I went down
- 13:08a rabbit hole of all of that information of discerning, okay,
- 13:11well, after all of this information out there shared out
- 13:14in the world by so many different people, what is my own
- 13:18truth? And coming back home to that. But yeah, I would say just
- 13:22being resourceful as well, and just keeping an open mind,
- 13:25staying growth minded and open minded, acknowledging the
- 13:29complexities of life and other spectrum to things, and how
- 13:32ultimately everything is subjective. And essentially at
- 13:35the end of the day, there's no right or wrong, black or white.
- 13:39Everything is very subjective, right? It really depends from
- 13:43your own lens through your experiences that shape how you
- 13:48see the world. But just keeping an open mind on that as well.
- 13:54Dr. Jim Price:: ***Looking for books that spark imagination,
- 13:57and teach valuable lessons? The Adventures of Harold From The

- 14:19available on every platform. Dive in today at
- 14:21jimpricebooks.education. jimpricebooks.education. Stay blessed.
- 14:29Yeah, a lot of it is like that. You think about the personal
- 14:33growth and doing the work to actually challenge yourself to
- 14:36heal internal, maybe unhealed wounds and stuff that have never
- 14:41been addressed before, you know what I mean? And I think a lot
- 14:44of times, that's just a big step within itself. And at the same
- 14:48time, there's a lot of people who have the the idea of
- 14:52external validity and stuff like that where it's like, oh, you
- 14:56got to learn to love your inner self first. True happiness comes
- 15:02from within within yourself, not from external sources and stuff.
- 15:07But not to say that you can't have your ego stroke by external
- 15:11forces and stuff like that. But in the bigger picture when you
- 15:14think about really healing and doing the inner work, we're
- 15:17talking about learning to really love yourself, and understanding
- 15:21that external validation is not always gonna get it if you're
- 15:26really truly on that path of doing the work. So thank you for
- 15:30sharing those. Those are very good tips for our audience and
- 15:34everything like that. I appreciate that. But if you were
- 15:37to say as far as maybe any future projects or anything like
- 15:42that, is there anything that you were thinking to get into that
- 15:46you could share with the audience?
- 15:49Gloria Lorelai Lee:: Yeah. I currently am a certified high
- 15:51performance coach, and was trained through the High
- 15:54Performance Institute in the States. And I do have this
- 15:57framework where I walk my clients through, where I help
- 16:00them through greater levels of clarity and energy, and courage,
- 16:04purpose, productivity, psychology, mindset, all of
- 16:07those things. But I'm also in the process of writing, writing
- 16:12books, and then hosting retreats in different parts of the world
- 16:14that focus on wellness, on healing, movement, all of the
- 16:18things. And then my ultimate vision I have is to host this
- 16:23global personal development festival in Africa. I used to
- 16:28live and work in South Africa pre-pandemic years for a
- 16:32volunteer organization at the time, and Africa has been
- 16:35something that I've been drawn to since I was very very young.
- 16:39I would say around 8 years old or so. It was just something
- 16:43that was very intuitive and natural for me where I just had
- 16:45the vision as a kid to just be there and focus more on
- 16:48humanitarian efforts, and just the global issues that we're
- 16:54facing with in communities with youth, and wildlife extinction,
- 17:00and conservation, all of those things. But my focus is to
- 17:04continue to travel and help communities along the way. To
- 17:10return to Africa and to build an event that draws people around
- 17:14the world where they can continue to focus on personal
- 17:18growth and development while networking and connecting with
- 17:21other people in community.
- 17:23Dr. Jim Price:: Wow! And I totally support every bit of
- 17:27that. I think that's wonderful because I always say when you're
- 17:30in the spirit of helping others, that's where you get good karma
- 17:34and stuff in return. When you treat others with respect to
- 17:37dignity, and you're actually have a genuine heart about
- 17:40helping other people, that's when good things come back to
- 17:43you. Vice versa. If you're treating people unruly and maybe
- 17:47not the best, you're probably going to come full circle and
- 17:50have all the bad treatment come back to you. You want to put out
- 17:54energy, positive energy that is able to be circumvented to be
- 17:59positive influences on people and stuff like that, so I
- 18:02totally support that whole message that you give. And
- 18:06resonate with me heavily. I definitely am thankful that you
- 18:09do the work that you do in terms of trying to help others, help
- 18:13families, help kids, help adults. Everybody needs help,
- 18:18and you're in that position where you're able to do those
- 18:20things, and you're open about it. You have a genuine heart
- 18:23about what you're trying to do. So all those aspirations, I know
- 18:26when the book comes out, I'll be the first one, pre-order. Please
- 18:30be in touch and let me know. I'll definitely support that.
- 18:33We'll have you back on and let you promote that as well when
- 18:36you get through that. But if you were to say, as far as advice
- 18:40for the audience that's watching, what advice would you
- 18:43share in terms of them who wanted to meet their aspiration,
- 18:46meet their goals, maybe change their lives, make that first
- 18:50step, take that first step.
- 18:51Gloria Lorelai Lee:: Yeah. Well, there's so many things, but I
- 18:54think ultimately is you just got to find your own way. There's no
- 19:00one size fits all. And ultimately, you know yourself
- 19:04best. So listen to your own intuition and your gut, and to
- 19:08do the inner work to really know what it is that that you value
- 19:14that genuinely brings you joy, that genuinely lights you up,
- 19:18and really just take that courageous step and follow it.
- 19:21And to choose progress before certainty. And to choose taking
- 19:25that courageous step before feeling like you're ready.
- 19:29Because at times, you're not going to feel ready. And
- 19:30sometimes, you just got to do it. Just don't overthink it.
- 19:33Just take action, and everything stacks and compounds from there
- 19:36when you take those micro actions and those micro steps,
- 19:40and just see life as more like an exploration or tiny
- 19:44experiment. And really, ultimately, there's no way of
- 19:48really failing if you're willing to try and you're willing to go.
- 19:52Because no matter what you do, if you're just giving everything
- 19:56a shot of all you have, you're always going to, everything that
- 20:00you receive or experience is going to be feedback. It's going
- 20:03to be data. And it's just a matter of having that awareness,
- 20:06and looking at life at the bigger picture. And really
- 20:10refining what worked, what didn't work for you, and just
- 20:12refining as you go. But ultimately, just really stay in
- 20:16tune with what resonates with you. And whatever resonates,
- 20:20that's your personal truths. And listen to that. Listen to that
- 20:24spark, or that aha, or that nudge. That's pretty much your
- 20:27soul's way of saying, hey, this is in resonance. This is the
- 20:31path I'm meant to be on. So just really staying in tune with
- 20:34that, and really just test and see what works for you. And
- 20:39yeah, you'll figure it out, and you'll find your own way. And
- 20:43you're a lot stronger than you think.
- 20:46Dr. Jim Price:: Absolutely. I think people don't always
- 20:49realize and recognize they do have the inner strength. Some
- 20:52people say's this is buried, and they haven't had a chance to
- 20:56bring it out of themselves in that way. But people have it in
- 21:00them. The ability to change is there. It's just about taking
- 21:03that first step, like you said. And persevering and making the
- 21:06things happen that you need to make happen to succeed. And
- 21:09sometimes, that might mean separating yourself from people
- 21:12and family members, or friends, or whatever you might have to do
- 21:16to kind of put yourself in a place where you can focus on
- 21:18those things, those aspects of yourself that you want to
- 21:20improve, and you're trying to improve. Sometimes, the
- 21:22environment can cause a lot of that too. So all those are great
- 21:26nuggets of wisdom, and that you just shared with right there.
- 21:31Great nuggets of wisdom and understanding right there. I
- 21:33appreciate that. If the audience would want to reach out and get
- 21:37a hold and connect with you, how could our audience be able to
- 21:43connect with you?
- 21:43Gloria Lorelai Lee:: Yes. You can find more about me and what
- 21:46it is I do in my journey @glorialorelai.com. Lorelei
- 21:50spelled L-O-R-E-L-A-I. And then all my social handles, be it in
- 21:56LinkedIn or Instagram, you can just find me at Gloria Lorelai
- 21:59Lee.
- 22:01Dr. Jim Price:: Could you just say one more time for the
- 22:03audience, the connection that you said. You spelled it out,
- 22:08but I wanted to make sure that the audience knows.
- 22:11Gloria Lorelai Lee:: Yes. It's Gloria Lorelai. And then Lorelai
- 22:15is spelled,
- 22:19Dr. Jim Price:: Thank you so much. I appreciate you, Gloria,
- 22:23so much for sharing all these nuggets of wisdom. And with our
- 22:26audience today, I'm sure the audience is going to definitely
- 22:28be able to put a lot of these parts that we talked about into
- 22:32action for themselves, and for their own personal lives, and
- 22:36things like that. So thank you. It's been a pleasure of having
- 22:39you today. And I always like to say, we are always trying to
- 22:41motivate others to be the best versions of themselves, grow,
- 22:44nurture through self-love, understanding self-worth,
- 22:48recognizing that they do have the inner power and inner
- 22:51progression to be able to succeed if you just take that
- 22:55first step. You just need to take that first step. So once
- 22:58again, this is The Purpose and Progress podcast show. And once
- 23:02again, I'm your host, Dr. Jim Price. I always like to close
- 23:04out by saying, stay prayed up, and stay blessed. We'll see you
- 23:09next time. Thank you. Have a good day.
- 23:13Thank you for joining me on this episode of The Purpose in
