- 0:04Speaker 1: I just like making that noise.
- 0:06Speaker 2: You've come to the right show.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Well, no other show would have me. That's up to you.
- 0:13Speaker 2: You can scout it out if you want. So this
- 0:16Speaker 2: episode is an exclusive for Horror Club members only. If
- 0:21Speaker 2: you were super cool and part of the Meltdown Horror Club,
- 0:24Speaker 2: you would be able to listen to the entirety of
- 0:27Speaker 2: all of what's going on this week. But... Don't worry,
- 0:30Speaker 2: because it's not really that.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Hard to do.
- 0:32Speaker 2: You yourself can join the Meltdown Horror Club. I think,
- 0:36Speaker 2: don't you guys think they should? Sure.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 0:38Speaker 2: We eat zombie brains sometimes. Maybe this week. But now
- 0:43Speaker 2: is the time, because we are in the middle of
- 0:46Speaker 2: our Halloween festivities. And all October long, we're going to
- 0:50Speaker 2: be putting out episodes that are just for Meltdown Horror
- 0:53Speaker 2: Club fans. So, if ever there was a time.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Now. I don't know why everybody nodded silently.
- 1:04Speaker 2: You guys do know how podcasting works, right? You heard
- 1:10Speaker 2: their nods. Get on board. Last time we were here,
- 1:16Speaker 2: which is actually two years ago, we had a fun
- 1:19Speaker 2: centerpiece that you were obsessed with. So this time I
- 1:22Speaker 2: decided we can have that again, but we'll make it
- 1:25Speaker 2: a more personalized version. Oh my gosh.
- 1:30Speaker 1: That's rad. Yeah, I'm blown away.
- 1:33Speaker 2: I thought maybe this would be more fun just because
- 1:37Speaker 2: it's interactive with us. Beware. Try if you dare. I mean,
- 1:43Speaker 2: they're daring us to eat this. Oh, my.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Is it the same thing where they taste like rotten vegetables?
- 1:49Speaker 3: I'm much more down with that.
- 1:51Speaker 1: I'm a little more comfortable because I was afraid that
- 1:53Speaker 1: the candy screamed.
- 1:55Speaker 2: You can bite into it.
- 1:56Speaker 1: We'll find out.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Please, I have a family.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Oh God, no.
- 2:04Speaker 2: No, the humanity.
- 2:07Speaker 1: There was one thing that they kept bringing up, especially
- 2:09Speaker 1: in the beginning of the movie, that I was like, no.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Because they were talking about how dangerous the people that
- 2:16Speaker 1: work in haunted houses are. Like how they hire real
- 2:19Speaker 1: psychopaths and there's real body parts and this and that.
- 2:23Speaker 1: And when I was in college, I spent a Halloween
- 2:26Speaker 1: working in a haunted house and.
- 2:29Speaker 2: I know that title. I don't think I've seen it.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Oh my God.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Except the one with Kiefer Sutherland.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Gary Busey.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Gary Busey. Starring Gary Busey.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Kiefer Sutherland, for confusing you with Gary Busey.
- 2:41Speaker 2: It's a slam, Kiefer. Sorry about that. Well, he can
- 2:43Speaker 2: be intense as well. He definitely can, but a different presence.
- 2:48Speaker 3: And it was like pre-head injury Gary Busey. Apparently, like
- 2:52Speaker 3: five days after they finished shooting, then he got into
- 2:55Speaker 3: that terrible accident.
- 2:57Speaker 2: So this was like, This was a while ago.
- 3:00Speaker 1: But he's still crazy.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Same energy. Yeah, he's always been crazy. Same energy. Yeah.
- 3:06Speaker 3: But yeah, he's like.
- 3:08Speaker 1: It's not bad. I mean, it's hokey. As a kid,
- 3:12Speaker 1: I never realized that it was supposed to be funny
- 3:15Speaker 1: in places.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I think they knew they were making semi-comedy.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Aren't there any, like, modern... fun Halloween novelty songs.
- 3:25Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean, there's tons of people that
- 3:28Speaker 2: just get into that as their sound. Like there's a
- 3:31Speaker 2: ton of like rockabilly bands that like, that's the direction
- 3:35Speaker 2: they go into it.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Horror themed. And then they do like every one of
- 3:39Speaker 2: their songs is essentially the name of a horror movie.
- 3:42Speaker 2: It's comes in handy when I'm piecing these episodes together
- 3:44Speaker 2: because everybody's done a song about whatever old movie we're
- 3:48Speaker 2: watching that week. So it's interesting to see what is
- 3:50Speaker 2: out there. So, There's definitely that kind of stuff. I
- 3:53Speaker 2: don't know if you get near as much of the
- 3:55Speaker 2: mainstream novelty part of it.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I want.
- 3:57Speaker 2: It seems it's more sub-genre-y.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I haven't heard it. I mean, again, I don't
- 4:01Speaker 1: listen to Top 40 Radio, but I haven't heard a
- 4:04Speaker 1: DJ going, oh, here's that new novelty Halloween track.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Well, see, that's the thing.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Razor's in my candy.
- 4:11Speaker 2: But anywho, music producers, please.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Yeah. Write new Halloween songs.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Give us some new Halloween crap.
- 4:16Speaker 3: It's time.
- 4:17Speaker 2: You would think. Maybe we're just missing it, so. you
- 4:20Speaker 2: know of anything good out there let us know.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Because i know on at least two occasions they had
- 4:26Speaker 1: to escort people out of the room that i was
- 4:28Speaker 1: working in because.
- 4:29Speaker 2: That other guy who keeps rapping about a barn i
- 4:34Speaker 2: don't know not to jump ahead but what the hell
- 4:38Speaker 2: was that.
- 4:40Speaker 3: I liked them from the angle of it's just like,
- 4:43Speaker 3: it's fun to pretend like you're watching an amateur video
- 4:45Speaker 3: of somebody.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't have to go to this haunted house.
- 4:47Speaker 2: I've already seen this. Yeah, exactly.
- 4:49Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, this is fun. That's nice and festive.
- 4:51Speaker 2: They're still acting like it's a comedy, but I mean,
- 4:54Speaker 2: like it's equally as much, you know, first episode, there's
- 4:57Speaker 2: a dead person. So there's still murder and stuff going on.
- 5:01Speaker 2: What I didn't know, I guess I didn't watch any
- 5:03Speaker 2: extra promos beforehand because I got into that first episode
- 5:07Speaker 2: or two. And I'm like, this entire damn thing is
- 5:10Speaker 2: about a podcast.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Yes.
- 5:12Speaker 2: I had no idea. I was just like, everybody and
- 5:17Speaker 2: their damn podcast. It is interesting. It's also really frustrating
- 5:22Speaker 2: once we get to the sponsorship and the money being
- 5:24Speaker 2: thrown around. Here's $ 50, 000 for the next three episodes. I
- 5:30Speaker 2: feel like I have some back pay coming. That's all
- 5:32Speaker 2: I'm saying.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:33Speaker 2: I need a sandwich shop sponsorship. Is that too much
- 5:36Speaker 2: to ask for?
- 5:37Speaker 3: Well, we have to murder somebody.
- 5:39Speaker 1: If that's what it takes.
- 5:41Speaker 2: I'm not saying that's off the table.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Two thirds of the people going through Haunted House while
- 5:49Speaker 1: they're in the thing.
- 5:51Speaker 2: This is stupid yeah well i know and then and
- 5:54Speaker 2: i tried not to do that when i went through
- 5:56Speaker 2: but i still sometimes was like yeah this looks but
- 5:59Speaker 2: those are the.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Ones too that you jump out and they like 10
- 6:02Speaker 1: feet in the air and knock stuff over and blame
- 6:06Speaker 1: you for some reason.
- 6:10Speaker 3: He's just so obviously like just taking up the entire
- 6:13Speaker 3: huge attic window just like blatantly staring and it's like.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Anyone would know.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Doesn't he build a wall between the rest of the
- 6:21Speaker 1: attic and the window?
- 6:22Speaker 3: Yeah, he builds a fake wall.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Because I remember thinking, when they go in the attic,
- 6:27Speaker 1: which they do several times, isn't anybody going to be like,
- 6:30Speaker 1: wasn't there a window.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Here just last week?
- 6:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:34Speaker 2: So everybody was shoved in those on like two sides
- 6:37Speaker 2: of a room with a hallway running down the middle.
- 6:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:40Speaker 2: So I guess we were mental patients or prisoners or
- 6:43Speaker 2: zombies or I don't know. They didn't give us a backstory.
- 6:46Speaker 2: They were just like, here, just try to get people
- 6:48Speaker 2: when they go through the middle. So you just reach
- 6:51Speaker 2: out and try to grab people when they ran through.
- 6:53Speaker 2: And this was back a long time ago. So I
- 6:57Speaker 2: remember at least one person yelling about where they got grabbed.
- 7:00Speaker 3: In the middle of that.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Oh, nice. It was like, yeah, this is why they
- 7:03Speaker 2: don't do that.
- 7:05Speaker 3: A whole group of these performers or whatever are so
- 7:10Speaker 3: mad at you i guess for yeah for being like
- 7:13Speaker 3: we're not scared that you're gonna you're gonna spend like
- 7:17Speaker 3: days of your own time stalking them and doing like
- 7:20Speaker 3: who cares why do you care that much yeah we
- 7:22Speaker 3: haven't gotten to that part yet so i guess we
- 7:25Speaker 3: should address.
- 7:25Speaker 1: That oh man after about 10 minutes i was like
- 7:30Speaker 1: there's a a drugged out whore, which is a term
- 7:36Speaker 1: I don't normally like to.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Use, but... Only in professional circumstances.
- 7:39Speaker 1: She's trying to convince a guy to drill a hole
- 7:43Speaker 1: in a door.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Who are you questioning? Blue Skeleton or the Five Idiots?
- 7:49Speaker 3: No, the Five Idiots. Take your pick.
- 7:52Speaker 2: That's true. I was like, both of them I have
- 7:54Speaker 2: that question for. Yeah, because... I see a lot of
- 7:58Speaker 2: places that have old VHS tapes and it's funny how
- 8:01Speaker 2: much the cool ones aren't there anymore. Like all the
- 8:03Speaker 2: people know and they've all filtered through. So it's just
- 8:06Speaker 2: a bunch of random stuff that like your grandparent would have.
- 8:10Speaker 2: And so like, that's all left on the shelf. But
- 8:13Speaker 2: then there was like a box on the floor that
- 8:15Speaker 2: was a few of those, like prerecorded boxed up ones.
- 8:19Speaker 1: And then a bunch of like recorded off of.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Cable and handwritten. I was like, who's buying these?
- 8:27Speaker 1: It's like, well, who's selling them?
- 8:29Speaker 2: You're hard pressed to find somebody buying VHS tapes at
- 8:33Speaker 2: this point. But on top of that, a non pre-recorded,
- 8:37Speaker 2: recorded on a generic ass tape you bought at Kmart
- 8:40Speaker 2: and then like recorded off cable or TV with commercials.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Who the hell knows? Because it's just handwritten on there.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Like a top gun. Here we go. Somebody's going to pay.
- 8:51Speaker 2: And they were not cheap.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Like, It was like, why?
- 8:54Speaker 2: It was like $ 8 for an old VHS tape or something.
- 8:57Speaker 2: I was like, get out of your damn mind.
- 8:58Speaker 1: You know that there's some dork going through those looking
- 9:02Speaker 1: for stuff like, well, I'm looking for the five-hour dune
- 9:05Speaker 1: that was shown on Disney Channel one time.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 9:08Speaker 1: When I did work there, every day, before it opened,
- 9:14Speaker 1: we'd all be sitting around half in our costumes just
- 9:17Speaker 1: hanging out or whatever. Every day somebody was telling me about, oh,
- 9:22Speaker 1: I heard that there's this haunted house such and such
- 9:24Speaker 1: place that supposedly did the things that they're looking for
- 9:28Speaker 1: in this movie.
- 9:28Speaker 2: The real things.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Extreme things. Like, there's a haunted house in Texas that
- 9:32Speaker 1: takes eight hours to go through. And if you make
- 9:34Speaker 1: it to the end, they give you $ 2, 000 and nobody's
- 9:37Speaker 1: ever made it and blah, blah, blah. Do you think
- 9:40Speaker 1: any of these things exist? None of those existed then.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Because of the urban legends, a couple of them do
- 9:47Speaker 1: exist now.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:49Speaker 1: But from what I've read about.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Them, he had like a $ 25, 000 prize if you can
- 9:55Speaker 3: make it through, but you only make it through when
- 9:57Speaker 3: he says you're done. so he just continuously like breaks
- 10:01Speaker 3: you down and tortures you until you're like please let
- 10:03Speaker 3: me out and then when people like give the It's
- 10:06Speaker 3: a safe word or whatever. He's like, I'll decide. So
- 10:08Speaker 3: he doesn't even listen to people saying no.
- 10:10Speaker 2: That's not how safe words work, Jackass. It's just him.
- 10:13Speaker 3: It's like really, really bad. I'm like, that guy is
- 10:16Speaker 3: sketchy as hell. So yeah, all this like, let's find
- 10:18Speaker 3: the most extreme haunt. I'm like, no, because people will
- 10:22Speaker 3: just torture you.
- 10:24Speaker 2: I might re-watch the first one, too. Is anybody else
- 10:28Speaker 2: going to?
- 10:28Speaker 1: When you say first one, you mean first first one
- 10:30Speaker 1: or the last first one?
- 10:31Speaker 2: Well, the last one in this series of this new series.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Which technically is the last second one.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Is the second one, which we've had three second ones now.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Because this series made no damn sense.
- 10:42Speaker 3: I should re-watch the first new one.
- 10:45Speaker 2: The first new thing, not the second new thing or the.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Third new thing. I don't think I have it in me.
- 10:50Speaker 2: In the first old one. like it's just real enough
- 10:54Speaker 2: that you're like so what would you do like if
- 10:57Speaker 2: you just well they the other ones get super extreme
- 10:59Speaker 2: but i'm like that's just awkward enough that like some
- 11:02Speaker 2: drunken idiot could wander into your rv and like shit
- 11:04Speaker 2: what do we do now like that could really happen out.
- 11:08Speaker 1: There well they asked the question the same time i
- 11:11Speaker 1: did which was why did you bring her in the
- 11:13Speaker 1: rv and he's like i don't know Can we at
- 11:17Speaker 1: least talk about the strip club scene?
- 11:19Speaker 2: Oh, my goodness. Because I'm on your trip now.
- 11:21Speaker 1: I want to go to the strip club.
- 11:24Speaker 2: I mean, at least it's entertaining compared to most, I guess.
- 11:29Speaker 3: I do think last time we talked about a zombie
- 11:31Speaker 3: brunch place.
- 11:32Speaker 4: But if we needed to pivot. Right next to it
- 11:35Speaker 4: would be the zombie strip club. So like for the
- 11:38Speaker 4: little more self-controlled people, you'd have brunch. And then later
- 11:42Speaker 4: that night, when you're drunk off your ass, you just
- 11:44Speaker 4: go to the zombie strip club.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Well, if somebody came up to me right now and said, hey,
- 11:47Speaker 1: you want to go to the strip club?
- 11:48Speaker 2: I'd be like, I don't really want to go.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Not really. Waste my time and money there. And they'd
- 11:53Speaker 1: be like, well, they wear, like, skeleton masks. I'd be like, well, okay,
- 11:57Speaker 1: now I'm listening.
- 11:59Speaker 2: I would, too.
- 12:00Speaker 1: I mean, I figured.
- 12:01Speaker 3: I was like, I don't have any desire to go
- 12:03Speaker 3: to a normal strip club. But I'm like, is that
- 12:05Speaker 3: a thing they do on Halloween? Like, do they wear costumes?
- 12:07Speaker 3: Because that's fun.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Yeah. I guess.
- 12:10Speaker 1: But then that's all admissible in court.
- 12:13Speaker 3: I know.
- 12:13Speaker 2: And I was like, but what are you making it for?
- 12:15Speaker 2: Because you've gone so.
- 12:17Speaker 1: They've committed quintuple homicide, which is a lot in one night.
- 12:24Speaker 2: From the independent filmmaking aspect, they found a really great
- 12:29Speaker 2: way to make what they wanted to make. And they
- 12:33Speaker 2: never addressed that at all. And I think that becomes
- 12:35Speaker 2: the most frustrating part.
- 12:37Speaker 3: That's true, because now I'm thinking of that scene where
- 12:39Speaker 3: they're at that bar, like once they get to.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Louisiana, and there's like.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Because that was the whole thing we were waiting for
- 12:47Speaker 3: the whole time. I was like, well, this is going
- 12:49Speaker 3: to be great.
- 12:52Speaker 1: The camera angle very subtly changes. And it's like, if
- 12:58Speaker 1: this is all... Who.
- 13:01Speaker 2: You're getting to the argument in every found footage movie.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Who's the idiot editing this after the fact when all
- 13:07Speaker 2: these people are dead?
- 13:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:08Speaker 2: What kind of bastard are you?
- 13:11Speaker 3: Because if two big burly dudes tried to corner me
- 13:14Speaker 3: in a bar bathroom after all of this shit that's
- 13:17Speaker 3: been happening, I'd be like, I do not give a
- 13:20Speaker 3: fuck about your haunted house. I almost just got assaulted
- 13:24Speaker 3: and we are going home. And my guy friends would
- 13:27Speaker 3: be like, yeah.
- 13:28Speaker 2: I would hope so.
- 13:31Speaker 1: I would be like, I am so glad you said something.
- 13:33Speaker 1: I didn't want to seem like a pussy, but... Yeah! Yeah,
- 13:36Speaker 1: come on. I will drive the first 400 miles. I
- 13:39Speaker 1: don't give a shit.
