- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to The Jim Colbert Show. Watch the chaos
- 0:07Speaker 1: live at realradio.fm slash watch.
- 0:18Speaker 2: I just sat up in my truck. Deb was just
- 0:21Speaker 2: saying coming up on the news that Florida is going
- 0:23Speaker 2: to be one of the most vulnerable states for the flu.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Not 30 minutes ago, I got a call from Walgreens
- 0:29Speaker 2: saying it was time to come in and get my
- 0:31Speaker 2: flu shot whenever I wanted. That is just creepy weird, man.
- 0:36Speaker 3: You better go get my shot. Definitely.
- 0:39Speaker 4: Got mine already. Did you really? Bradshaw, buddy.
- 0:43Speaker 5: Concrete Mike.
- 0:45Speaker 4: Let's make a deal. Give me a ticket. I'll hang
- 0:49Speaker 4: out with you at the game. I'll pick you up. Oh, wow.
- 0:52Speaker 4: Drive all the way to Tampa.
- 0:53Speaker 5: Oh.
- 0:54Speaker 4: St.
- 0:54Speaker 6: Pete, whatever it is.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:56Speaker 4: I'll buy you a beer. Oh. I'll pay for parking.
- 0:59Speaker 7: Oh.
- 0:59Speaker 4: And then I'll drive you back to your house before
- 1:02Speaker 4: I go home.
- 1:03Speaker 5: Let's talk, man.
- 1:04Speaker 4: That's not a bad deal, big dog. Not a bad deal.
- 1:07Speaker 4: Not a bad deal.
- 1:08Speaker 8: That is an all-expenses-paid trip, except for the ticket to
- 1:11Speaker 8: our Yankees game with a guy we know as Ghoul Dude.
- 1:13Speaker 4: Yeah. Probably fight for you, too, if you get a
- 1:15Speaker 4: little slippy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'd feel safe with concrete.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:20Speaker 4: You should. Probably has a grip like a vice. All right, 407-916-1041, Texas.
- 1:25Speaker 4: That's one thing you don't do. These old construction guys,
- 1:29Speaker 4: I watched those dudes build my pool. There's like three
- 1:31Speaker 4: dudes on that crew that were like, you know, 60.
- 1:33Speaker 4: I was like, I wouldn't blink with those cats ever
- 1:36Speaker 4: in a million years. They are strong AF and mad.
- 1:41Speaker 6: I would be, too.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Welcome back, I'm Jim, there's Deb. Hello.
- 1:44Speaker 5: Jack. Yep.
- 1:45Speaker 4: And Ross. Believe in yourself. Speaking of Deb, let's get
- 1:48Speaker 4: some news.
- 1:49Speaker 3: It's time for JCS News. Wow, has this guy got
- 1:54Speaker 3: to put his name on everything?
- 1:55Speaker 4: It's in my contract, dude.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Here's the news on the Jim Colbert Show.
- 2:00Speaker 9: And as always, JCS News is brought to you by
- 2:03Speaker 9: that mortgage guy, Don. Alright, starting things off with an absolutely...
- 2:07Speaker 9: This story was bad enough, Jimmy, before you brought me
- 2:10Speaker 9: an even deeper detail I did not realize. A Central
- 2:13Speaker 9: Florida worker has died after he became trapped in a
- 2:16Speaker 9: concrete truck. It happened at a job site in Seminole County.
- 2:20Speaker 9: Sheriff's deputies responded to Chantel Lane yesterday afternoon. They say
- 2:25Speaker 9: a relative, that's what the copy here says, found the
- 2:28Speaker 9: victim face down in the concrete truck and pulled him out,
- 2:31Speaker 9: but it was too late.
- 2:33Speaker 10: Jimmy, you said?
- 2:34Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it was his son. That's what I
- 2:37Speaker 4: read this morning.
- 2:37Speaker 9: So it was his father who found his son face
- 2:40Speaker 9: down in the concrete truck. Unfortunately, he was pronounced deceased
- 2:45Speaker 9: at the scene. An investigation is still ongoing. Florida's minimum wage.
- 2:50Speaker 4: What was that? It's sad. I know.
- 2:53Speaker 5: Please.
- 2:54Speaker 10: Yeah, exactly.
- 2:54Speaker 9: Florida's minimum wage reaches $ 15 an hour today, but the
- 2:58Speaker 9: increase may have unintended consequences. Employment Policies Institute Research Director
- 3:03Speaker 9: Rebecca Paxton warns that as a result of the hike,
- 3:07Speaker 9: employers may be forced to replace workers with machines to
- 3:10Speaker 9: save money.
- 3:12Speaker 4: We surveyed over 160 American economists on different minimum wage
- 3:16Speaker 4: hike proposals, and they said that a $ 15 minimum wage,
- 3:20Speaker 4: a majority said that that would increase automation in the workplace.
- 3:23Speaker 10: And that's over 160 economists.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:27Speaker 10: It's not like one or two.
- 3:28Speaker 4: No, no, no, no.
- 3:29Speaker 9: She says Florida's hospitality industry employs more women and drives
- 3:33Speaker 9: Florida's economy. Unfortunately, EPI shows that the wage law has
- 3:37Speaker 9: stunted growth in the state's restaurant industry. and the added
- 3:41Speaker 9: annual adjustments for inflation could compound that problem. With the
- 3:45Speaker 9: bump in minimum wage, full-time Florida workers should be able
- 3:48Speaker 9: to pocket an additional $ 2, 100 a year.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Keep in mind, this was past five years ago.
- 3:54Speaker 3: I know.
- 3:54Speaker 8: And it's been $ 1. It was incremental, $ 1 per year.
- 3:58Speaker 8: This is the final one. So the 15 is the
- 4:00Speaker 8: max for now for the foreseeable future. And guess what?
- 4:05Speaker 8: Leaving it at 14 or 13 was not going to
- 4:07Speaker 8: stave off AI and automated replacement of the American work.
- 4:11Speaker 4: It certainly was not.
- 4:12Speaker 9: It's kind of like the road construction, right? They announced
- 4:15Speaker 9: the project today to ease congestion, but by the time
- 4:18Speaker 9: they finish it, Five to ten years from now, we're
- 4:21Speaker 9: looking at the same amount of congestion.
- 4:23Speaker 4: Twice as much, maybe.
- 4:24Speaker 10: All right.
- 4:26Speaker 9: Some Lake County residents are under a precautionary boil water notice. Man,
- 4:30Speaker 9: the city of Groveland is just taking it in the
- 4:33Speaker 9: shorts recently.
- 4:34Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:35Speaker 9: They just got done dealing with a precautionary boil water notice.
- 4:38Speaker 9: They've got a hundred acre wildfire burning. And then you've
- 4:41Speaker 9: got two brothers fighting over stolen laptops, firing 20 rounds.
- 4:44Speaker 4: And then Amazon pulls out of an entire.
- 4:47Speaker 10: Their distribution center, their fulfillment center.
- 4:49Speaker 4: They pulled out of a fulfillment center that would have
- 4:51Speaker 4: been a great thing.
- 4:53Speaker 9: Well, the city of Groveland issued that notice yesterday after
- 4:56Speaker 9: a water main broke near the Sunshine Water Treatment Plant.
- 4:59Speaker 9: The break was repaired last night, but the notice remains
- 5:01Speaker 9: in effect until water sample tests come back negative. One
- 5:05Speaker 9: sample was pulled last night. Another was pulled this morning,
- 5:08Speaker 9: and the city expects results tomorrow.
- 5:11Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, right.
- 5:13Speaker 9: You can get the latest updates at groveland-fl.gov.
- 5:19Speaker 10: Just when you think you can put those jugs of
- 5:21Speaker 10: water away.
- 5:21Speaker 4: All right.
- 5:22Speaker 9: I know I was shocked about this because being a
- 5:25Speaker 9: state in the south where we're not dealing with the
- 5:28Speaker 9: winter weather, that change in temperature, but it does turn
- 5:32Speaker 9: out that Florida is the most vulnerable state in the
- 5:34Speaker 9: nation for a bad flu season, which for us gets
- 5:37Speaker 9: underway every In October, tomorrow.
- 5:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:40Speaker 9: So I guess less than 30% of adults get a
- 5:43Speaker 9: flu shot or got a flu shot last season. That's
- 5:46Speaker 9: the second lowest rate in the U.S. for a consumer
- 5:49Speaker 9: affairs analysis. Many fear getting sick from the vaccine.
- 5:55Speaker 4: Side effects from the flu shot are very mild and
- 5:57Speaker 4: definitely a lot milder than getting flu itself. Flu can
- 6:01Speaker 4: be very serious even in otherwise healthy people.
- 6:04Speaker 9: Head of Epidemiology at Florida International University, Dr. Mary Jo Trupka,
- 6:09Speaker 9: says the annual vaccination is the best protection. And if
- 6:12Speaker 9: you don't like needles, there is a nasal spray, although
- 6:15Speaker 9: I have heard that the nasal spray isn't as effective
- 6:18Speaker 9: as the needles. At least you get a vaccine without
- 6:21Speaker 9: having to face the fear of getting the poke. A
- 6:23Speaker 9: flu shot takes up to two weeks to become effective
- 6:26Speaker 9: and is available at most pharmacies.
- 6:28Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:29Speaker 4: Do you think also with Florida being such a transient state,
- 6:31Speaker 4: that also feeds into the ability for Florida to be
- 6:35Speaker 4: the epicenter? Because I read another story today about measles.
- 6:38Speaker 4: is how Florida could be the epicenter for measles simply
- 6:40Speaker 4: because for a measles outbreak because of how transient our
- 6:43Speaker 4: communities are. People come here from all over the parts
- 6:46Speaker 4: of the world and nation and then could possibly contract
- 6:48Speaker 4: this and then move on to their communities.
- 6:50Speaker 8: I like Pennsylvania holding that title for a while. What
- 6:53Speaker 8: do they have, like 500 cases or so?
- 6:55Speaker 4: I mean, but we've got quite a few as well, buddy.
- 6:57Speaker 9: But I wonder what our vaccination rates are for when
- 7:00Speaker 9: it comes to measles.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know. It's you know, they took the
- 7:03Speaker 4: story talked about. I glanced at the story, talked about
- 7:06Speaker 4: there being a great reduction, of course, since this, you know,
- 7:09Speaker 4: since the administration started kind of asking on it a
- 7:12Speaker 4: little bit. Yeah. What vaccine are you talking about?
- 7:13Speaker 8: The one that actually worked at helping to prevent.
- 7:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:17Speaker 5: Interesting.
- 7:17Speaker 4: It's kind of like dengue. Right.
- 7:18Speaker 9: We're learning that, you know, dengue fever may be a
- 7:21Speaker 9: bigger issue in Hillsborough County. But you're talking about going
- 7:24Speaker 9: to a Tampa game this weekend. You could be over there.
- 7:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:27Speaker 11: Right.
- 7:28Speaker 9: So it's all that inter-county travel, and I could see
- 7:31Speaker 9: absolutely why that would make us more vulnerable.
- 7:34Speaker 5: The U.S.
- 7:34Speaker 9: Supreme Court has handed the Trump administration a major victory,
- 7:38Speaker 9: allowing the immediate resumption. of third country deportations the emergency
- 7:43Speaker 9: six three order list lower court blocks on a controversial
- 7:47Speaker 9: policy that has seen cuban residents of south florida deported
- 7:51Speaker 9: to african nations like liberia you know where you don't
- 7:54Speaker 9: know the language anything or.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Anyone no connection to whatsoever.
- 7:58Speaker 9: The decision clears the way for immediate deportation flights to
- 8:02Speaker 9: resume ahead of formal oral arguments scheduled for early december Meanwhile,
- 8:07Speaker 9: an ICE detention facility in South Florida got a surprise
- 8:10Speaker 9: visit from lawmakers. Democrat Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz claims more
- 8:14Speaker 9: than 70 people have been held in the cramped, unsanitary
- 8:17Speaker 9: Miramar facility beyond the court-ordered 12 hours.
- 8:22Speaker 12: They acknowledged, essentially, they are holding people for more than
- 8:27Speaker 12: 12 hours. I asked detainees, and there were detainees that
- 8:31Speaker 12: said that they had been there for days.
- 8:34Speaker 9: She says some conditions have improved since a whistleblower posted
- 8:37Speaker 9: photos of the detention center, but there's a long way
- 8:39Speaker 9: to go.
- 8:40Speaker 10: The images showed detainees crowded into.
- 8:42Speaker 9: Holding areas with leaking portable toilets, no sleeping areas, and
- 8:47Speaker 9: no doctors or nurses on site. ICE officials say, hey,
- 8:51Speaker 9: this is just a temporary holding facility until detainees are
- 8:55Speaker 9: transferred elsewhere.
- 8:57Speaker 4: You know, I don't think I've said this yet because
- 9:00Speaker 4: I kind of was afraid to say it, but my
- 9:02Speaker 4: neighbor got deported.
- 9:05Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:05Speaker 4: You've said it before. Have I?
- 9:06Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 9:07Speaker 4: At least I was good and shy to bring it
- 9:09Speaker 4: up for a while. Weren't you going to take advantage
- 9:11Speaker 4: of the real estate opportunity that presented?
- 9:13Speaker 6: No.
- 9:13Speaker 10: I didn't know that, Ross.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Didn't he self-deport? So he was always going into the
- 9:18Speaker 4: office to get paperwork done once a year. And he's
- 9:22Speaker 4: been doing so for the last 25 years. He had
- 9:25Speaker 4: a driver's license. And then this one time when he
- 9:29Speaker 4: goes into the office, they go, that's an ankle monitor.
- 9:34Speaker 4: And then soon after that, he was on a plane. Wow, really?
- 9:38Speaker 4: To Guyana.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Guyana.
- 9:40Speaker 3: Guyana.
- 9:42Speaker 4: And throwing this out here. not where he's from yeah
- 9:45Speaker 4: he's from cuba but the thing that i was told
- 9:49Speaker 4: was that the agreement that is being set right now
- 9:52Speaker 4: is that if you're from cuba they're not sending cubans
- 9:55Speaker 4: back to cuba because i don't think they really concern
- 9:57Speaker 4: themselves with where you're from buddy i don't know that
- 9:59Speaker 4: any of them do but that like the deal that
- 10:02Speaker 4: they are striking up with countries like guayana which is
- 10:05Speaker 4: like hey you take these people and you deal with
- 10:09Speaker 4: it and here's the yeah they've made deals with people
- 10:11Speaker 4: and here's some money yeah yeah.
- 10:12Speaker 9: And here's some money Speaking of money, this will frost
- 10:16Speaker 9: your flakes. A new report finds the cost of detaining
- 10:19Speaker 9: someone at Alligator Alcatraz was much higher than at other facilities.
- 10:24Speaker 4: I saw this number today and almost threw up.
- 10:26Speaker 9: The Government Accountability Office released a report yesterday. I do
- 10:29Speaker 9: not have the number, so if you do, please share them.
- 10:32Speaker 9: Investigators found the cost per detainee were almost three times
- 10:36Speaker 9: higher at Alligator Alcatraz than standard ICE facilities. The report
- 10:40Speaker 9: also found the state did not have a contract with
- 10:44Speaker 9: the federal government to operate the facility.
- 10:47Speaker 4: I read today it was 20 times higher. The average
- 10:49Speaker 4: daily expense for an alligator Alcatraz detainee was $ 3, 700 a
- 10:54Speaker 4: day as opposed to like $ 170 or $ 165 at an
- 11:00Speaker 4: ICE facility. This thing is a complete travesty. I also
- 11:03Speaker 4: did the research today. We haven't been paid back. I
- 11:05Speaker 4: think $ 54 million today. We're still owed $ 1. 2 billion for
- 11:10Speaker 4: this facility from the federal government, and we have not
- 11:12Speaker 4: seen a dime of it. Can Hope Florida cover the rest?
- 11:15Speaker 10: Yeah, that's a good question.
- 11:16Speaker 4: What a billion could have done for the state outside
- 11:19Speaker 4: of Alligator Alcatraz that ran for, what, a year?
- 11:21Speaker 5: Not even. 350 days.
- 11:21Speaker 4: And don't forget, they're asking for $ 250 million more.
- 11:27Speaker 9: To pay off contractors that also helped dismantle Alligator Alcatraz
- 11:31Speaker 9: and run it. And all of these were on no-bid contracts.
- 11:33Speaker 4: Unbelievable. It's almost like the marketing or just like the
- 11:36Speaker 4: vocabulary of calling it Alligator Alcatraz, which I believe they coined, right?
- 11:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:42Speaker 4: I feel like that almost takes the bite out of
- 11:45Speaker 4: it being taken super seriously or be able to pin
- 11:49Speaker 4: in a– let's say, a political debate in the next
- 11:51Speaker 4: election by saying, hey, you messed up. It's almost like
- 11:55Speaker 4: people have a detachment because of fun, cute alliteration.
- 11:59Speaker 9: I think only on that side because you also have
- 12:01Speaker 9: the deportation depot, which was built into a shuttered prison
- 12:04Speaker 9: up in Baker County up in North Florida.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Wait till we hear Scott's call today because he's talking
- 12:08Speaker 4: about what's supposed to be happening right now with scenarios
- 12:11Speaker 4: like this when it comes to auditing big, big situations
- 12:15Speaker 4: like this. Blaze and Golia said on the record, it's
- 12:18Speaker 4: not my job to audit. That's his job. Oh, really?
- 12:21Speaker 9: But he can go and audit everyone else's books, but
- 12:24Speaker 9: we don't get to hear what the hell is going
- 12:26Speaker 9: on with Tallahassee?
- 12:27Speaker 4: Wait until you hear the story from Scott today about
- 12:29Speaker 4: his column. It's crazy. By the way, all these guys, Blazingolia,
- 12:32Speaker 4: he's on the ballot. Yes, he is. He's on the ballot. Uthmeyer,
- 12:35Speaker 4: he's on the ballot as well.
- 12:36Speaker 10: Moody, on the ballot. Yes.
- 12:38Speaker 4: So it's like, you know, it is unbelievable. This story
- 12:41Speaker 4: that Scott has today about what's been happening and have
- 12:43Speaker 4: the fact that they haven't audited any of these decisions
- 12:46Speaker 4: and it's law in the state. You're supposed to do
- 12:48Speaker 4: that to find out where this money is going, where
- 12:49Speaker 4: it came from. And none of that's been done. And
- 12:52Speaker 4: the guy even denies it's his job. And he is
- 12:54Speaker 4: the he is the he's.
- 12:56Speaker 9: The chief financial officer of the state of Florida.
- 13:00Speaker 4: He is the guy who says it's on his job.
- 13:03Speaker 9: Those who ride e-bikes should be aware of some new
- 13:06Speaker 9: rules in Orange County. The County Commission voted yesterday to
- 13:09Speaker 9: impose restrictions on e-bikes and e-scooters. Riders will be limited
- 13:13Speaker 9: to 10 miles an hour on sidewalks and shared paths. Elsewhere,
- 13:17Speaker 9: it's 20 miles an hour. Violations could lead up to
- 13:20Speaker 9: a fine of up to $ 100. And if the violator
- 13:23Speaker 9: is underage, their parents will be contacted immediately. The new
- 13:26Speaker 9: rules take effect immediately.
- 13:28Speaker 4: All right.
- 13:29Speaker 9: Really wanted to do this story because I think this
- 13:31Speaker 9: is super cool. For those parents who have a child
- 13:34Speaker 9: attending UCF, put this feather in your cap, especially if
- 13:39Speaker 9: you're an alumni. The University of Central Florida is considered
- 13:42Speaker 9: one of the best college campuses in the U.S.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Thank you very much.
- 13:46Speaker 9: The Niche.com rankings, there you go, alum, put UCF in
- 13:50Speaker 9: the top 25. That's ahead of Ivy League schools like Yale, Princeton,
- 13:56Speaker 9: and Harvard.
- 13:56Speaker 5: Really?
- 13:57Speaker 9: They're based on statistics and student reviews using data from
- 14:00Speaker 9: the U.S.
- 14:01Speaker 10: Department of Education.
- 14:03Speaker 5: Very nice.
- 14:03Speaker 4: We're also doing a whole lot better than Cornell, so
- 14:05Speaker 4: take that as well.
- 14:06Speaker 10: Yeah, no doubt.
- 14:08Speaker 9: Today is the deadline for the removal of those controversial
- 14:11Speaker 9: license plate reading cameras from state highways in Florida. Lindsay Isaacs,
- 14:15Speaker 9: again of Flagler County, recently testified on Capitol Hill about
- 14:18Speaker 9: being arrested for a deadly hit and run after a
- 14:20Speaker 9: flock camera spotted a car similar to hers at the scene.
- 14:25Speaker 4: I was terrified. I was facing the possibility of spending
- 14:28Speaker 4: the rest of my life in prison for.
- 14:30Speaker 13: A crash that I knew I had not been involved in.
- 14:34Speaker 9: On the other hand, a number of law enforcement agencies,
- 14:37Speaker 9: including Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, are pushing back against
- 14:40Speaker 9: the removal order, saying that technology is invaluable for fighting crime.
- 14:45Speaker 11: They simply sit in a public space and catch bad guys.
- 14:50Speaker 11: We're catching misdemeanors to murders. Every day with these cameras
- 14:54Speaker 11: around the state of Florida and the United States.
- 14:57Speaker 9: All right. This deadline comes as the debate over these
- 15:00Speaker 9: cameras continues around the country unabated.
- 15:03Speaker 4: Still a hot topic.
- 15:05Speaker 10: It really, really is. It really is.
- 15:07Speaker 4: It's funny that, you know, as you pay attention to
- 15:09Speaker 4: the election cycle, they talk about stories that are now
- 15:12Speaker 4: affecting elections and before the A.I. and data center's. But
- 15:17Speaker 4: now those things have made their way into the mainstream
- 15:19Speaker 4: conversations about what people are choosing to pay attention to
- 15:23Speaker 4: when it comes to voting for people now. is that
- 15:26Speaker 4: very thing, along with prices of groceries, along with prices
- 15:28Speaker 4: of gas. Absolutely. Now it's data centers.
- 15:30Speaker 9: Well, you've got to see who owns the candidate, right?
- 15:33Speaker 9: Who owns the candidate? Who do they have to– because
- 15:36Speaker 9: they don't owe anything to us.
- 15:37Speaker 4: Right, yeah.
- 15:38Speaker 9: They owe it to the people who filled their war coffers.
- 15:40Speaker 4: I wish I was an optimist to the point where
- 15:43Speaker 4: I can get on board with those claims, but there's
- 15:45Speaker 4: never been a candidate that said, I am for flock cameras,
- 15:48Speaker 4: and here they are still. No, of course not.
- 15:51Speaker 5: Right.
- 15:51Speaker 4: So, like, even if a politician comes out and goes,
- 15:54Speaker 4: I'm against flock cameras, I'm like, I don't think you
- 15:57Speaker 4: have the power. Yeah, I don't know if you are
- 15:59Speaker 4: or not. I guess I don't know who has the power,
- 16:01Speaker 4: but I'm pretty sure no one wanted those.
- 16:04Speaker 9: Well, it's like Byron Donald's not being for data centers
- 16:07Speaker 9: right now. But before we saw election results around the country,
- 16:11Speaker 9: he was absolutely pro data centers. And again, the tech
- 16:14Speaker 9: bros and their super PACs are what they owe. He
- 16:17Speaker 9: owes Sam Altman a data center.
- 16:20Speaker 4: I mean, politicians be saying anything for these votes. And
- 16:23Speaker 4: then I just wonder who they really are, because I
- 16:26Speaker 4: don't remember any politician running for flock cameras.
- 16:30Speaker 8: And yet they weren't running it because they really kind
- 16:35Speaker 8: of popped up. It was a quiet rise. But Governor
- 16:38Speaker 8: DeSantis approved them in the state of Florida. Before he
- 16:42Speaker 8: was against them.
- 16:42Speaker 4: Right, right, right. So quiet rise scares me.
- 16:47Speaker 9: Well, one central Florida sheriff wants to do right by someone,
- 16:50Speaker 9: and they want to return 18 kilos of cocaine to
- 16:53Speaker 9: its rightful owner.
- 16:54Speaker 4: I'm sorry, who?
- 16:56Speaker 10: The drugs.
- 16:57Speaker 4: I left it next to a dumpster when I was
- 16:58Speaker 4: loading up.
- 16:59Speaker 9: The drugs were found along a Brevard County coastline wrapped
- 17:02Speaker 9: tightly in waterproof packaging with the Jaguar logo. Sheriff Wayne
- 17:06Speaker 9: Ivey took to social media to poke fun at the situation.
- 17:09Speaker 9: He jokingly invited, quote, the rightful owner, end quote, to
- 17:12Speaker 9: claim the stash, which is valued at over $ 230, 000. Ivy
- 17:17Speaker 9: promised as well an all-expense-paid trip to the county jail.
- 17:20Speaker 4: Wow. Go pick it up, Jim. You like the Jaguars.
- 17:23Speaker 4: It's branded. Yeah, yeah. And you've never seen cocaine. Right, right.
- 17:27Speaker 4: This is your chance. I hear you snort two lines.
- 17:29Speaker 4: You put on jean shorts and buy a pontoon boat.
- 17:31Speaker 4: Let's go. You become a Jag. This is a party.
- 17:34Speaker 4: You become a big cat.
- 17:35Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah.
- 17:35Speaker 9: And then finally, a man who went to Disney with
- 17:38Speaker 9: his family hopes no one has to experience what he
- 17:40Speaker 9: did at a hotel in Osceola County.
- 17:43Speaker 5: Uh-oh.
- 17:43Speaker 10: Michael Gross.
- 17:46Speaker 4: Are you foreshadowing here?
- 17:47Speaker 9: Yeah, was staying at the Holiday Inn Club Vacations Orange
- 17:51Speaker 9: Lake Resort in Kissimmee two months ago.
- 17:53Speaker 4: Oh, my God. How funny is that? I actually looked
- 17:55Speaker 4: at a tee time for that place today.
- 17:56Speaker 10: Did you really?
- 17:57Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 17:58Speaker 9: Well, on the second night of their stay, Mike Gross
- 18:01Speaker 9: told News 6 his daughter walked up behind him in
- 18:04Speaker 9: the room with what she called a, quote, present, end quote.
- 18:07Speaker 4: This could literally be anything.
- 18:10Speaker 9: Quote, my daughter, three years old, comes up behind me
- 18:12Speaker 9: and says, Daddy, I've got a present for you, he said.
- 18:16Speaker 9: And I'm expecting to turn around and find something cute
- 18:18Speaker 9: she's going to hand me or found around the hotel room. Oh,
- 18:21Speaker 9: she found something, all right.
- 18:22Speaker 4: A needle.
- 18:24Speaker 10: Okay, you say a needle.
- 18:26Speaker 4: I'm going baby alligator. Oh, good one. Good one. Bravo. Yeah,
- 18:30Speaker 4: hotels got those. Maybe like a dirty book or something?
- 18:35Speaker 10: And she hands me a used.
- 18:38Speaker 5: Vibrator.
- 18:41Speaker 4: Oh. End quote.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Oh, no.
- 18:44Speaker 9: He says he contacted hotel staff, but he found their
- 18:47Speaker 9: response lacking.
- 18:48Speaker 4: Right, yeah, yeah, yeah. This is, of course, after boiling
- 18:51Speaker 4: her hands.
- 18:52Speaker 5: Right.
- 18:53Speaker 4: This is directly after boiling her hands.
- 18:56Speaker 10: And the whole trip was ruined.
- 18:57Speaker 9: At that point, the hotel offered Gross $ 1, 300 and a
- 19:01Speaker 9: free stay, but they also wanted him to sign a
- 19:03Speaker 9: settlement agreement he found a little broad and overreaching, so
- 19:07Speaker 9: much so that he wouldn't be able to contact the
- 19:09Speaker 9: Better Business Bureau about his experience or any government agency to.
- 19:14Speaker 10: Report the incident.
- 19:15Speaker 9: He wasn't allowed to post about it on social media,
- 19:18Speaker 9: and the company would not admit guilt.
- 19:21Speaker 4: Yeah, no thanks. For $ 1, 800?
- 19:23Speaker 13: $ 1, 300.
- 19:24Speaker 10: For $ 1, 300? And a free stay.
- 19:26Speaker 4: I got terrible news for you guys. That ain't going
- 19:28Speaker 4: to work.
- 19:29Speaker 9: Gross refused to sign the agreement, and he tells News
- 19:31Speaker 9: 6 he hopes the hotel makes some real changes.
- 19:34Speaker 4: Wow.
- 19:34Speaker 9: So no one else has to experience this level of
- 19:37Speaker 9: negligence and neglect. What's funny is they didn't want him
- 19:40Speaker 9: to talk to social media, and yet here we are.
- 19:43Speaker 4: Yeah, he didn't sign, so he's free to blab. You're
- 19:45Speaker 4: talking about the least self-aware hotel manager of all time.
- 19:49Speaker 14: Exactly.
- 19:50Speaker 4: His room?
- 19:50Speaker 10: In his room, and his three-year-old daughter found it.
- 19:52Speaker 4: Side table? Next to the Bible? We've all left stuff
- 19:57Speaker 4: at hotels before. You've got to.
- 19:59Speaker 8: Look under the bed, people. How many phone chargers have
- 20:04Speaker 8: you left behind? And stuff rolls to the back of
- 20:07Speaker 8: those drawers. You've got to be very careful.
- 20:10Speaker 10: And that concludes your JCS News.
- 20:13Speaker 4: A surprise for me. It's a vibrator.
- 20:21Speaker 5: Oh, okay.
- 20:21Speaker 4: Very good.
- 20:22Speaker 11: 407-916.
- 20:23Speaker 4: One of it didn't hit. My apologies. Sorry. It's kind
- 20:25Speaker 4: of weird on a bass guitar. I understand.
- 20:27Speaker 8: I thought it was like an electronic bass or something.
- 20:30Speaker 4: That was a sex toy. All right. Thanks. Back in
- 20:33Speaker 4: a sec.
- 20:36Speaker 5: Howdy, folks.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Kurt here.
- 20:37Speaker 6: About Grady Judd, talking about the flock camera. I think
- 20:39Speaker 6: we can all agree, yeah, it's a powerful tool that
- 20:41Speaker 6: can be a big help when needed. But, like, any
- 20:44Speaker 6: powerful tool in the hands of humans can be misused
- 20:47Speaker 6: for evil and has been. And I think the way
- 20:50Speaker 6: to fight against that, to make people trust it and
- 20:52Speaker 6: be okay with the cameras, get some strong legislation in
- 20:55Speaker 6: place that punishes misuse.
- 20:57Speaker 4: Makes it a lot less attractive for the bad guys.
- 20:59Speaker 3: You know, misusing that junk. Do it up.
- 21:04Speaker 12: Hey, crew.
- 21:05Speaker 4: It's Kelly. I have two things for you.
- 21:08Speaker 7: One, over the weekend, I got a survey for about
- 21:12Speaker 7: 20 minutes to.
- 21:13Speaker 15: Talk about the wonderful data centers.
- 21:17Speaker 10: And also, Ross, please.
- 21:19Speaker 15: Don't do that while I'm eating.
- 21:20Speaker 4: I just spit food all over my computer.
- 21:23Speaker 5: But thank you.
- 21:24Speaker 10: You guys have a great day.
- 21:25Speaker 5: Bye. Thank you.
- 21:27Speaker 10: Oh, kiss me.
- 21:29Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. I was wondering what it was. I like
- 21:34Speaker 4: it when Apple meets Apple. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Take your service, guys.
- 21:38Speaker 4: Welcome back to the Jim Colbert Show. We're already at 104.1.
- 21:40Speaker 4: I'm Jim. There's Deb. Jack. Yeah. And Sauce. Mastication. Is
- 21:44Speaker 4: here as well. Last week, we ordered a mystery fun
- 21:47Speaker 4: box because it made the... rounds on the news we
- 21:50Speaker 4: were intrigued after we kind of looked at it we're
- 21:52Speaker 4: like well you can get one of these things for
- 21:54Speaker 4: like 90 bucks right was that jack $ 90 89 95
- 21:57Speaker 4: or something.
- 21:58Speaker 8: Like that yeah it was about 95 with taxes and
- 22:01Speaker 8: shipping let me ask you real quick did you expect
- 22:03Speaker 8: that box to be bigger Uh, maybe a little bigger,
- 22:07Speaker 8: but that's, yeah, a little bigger. I was expecting a
- 22:09Speaker 8: little more.
- 22:10Speaker 4: Yeah. This is like a box you'd see a motorcycle
- 22:12Speaker 4: helmet in or something like that. If you bought a helmet,
- 22:14Speaker 4: it'd be about that size, right? I think you're right. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 22:17Speaker 4: It's definitely filled with dead people stuff.
- 22:19Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 22:20Speaker 4: I'm convinced of that. So, now, what we're going to
- 22:22Speaker 4: do is, because we were kind of wondering what this is,
- 22:24Speaker 4: we've had a bunch of people kind of text us and...
- 22:26Speaker 4: and talk about this one we were talking about last
- 22:27Speaker 4: week and said some of them are very cool, some
- 22:30Speaker 4: of them are awful, most of the stuff is junk.
- 22:32Speaker 4: So Jack went and bought one, which I think is cool.
- 22:35Speaker 4: But now we're going to have to break up what's
- 22:36Speaker 4: inside there and distribute it to find out what's going
- 22:39Speaker 4: to go on because we're going to open these up
- 22:40Speaker 4: at 5 o'clock, right? Yeah.
- 22:41Speaker 8: So can we have Ross kind of go in there,
- 22:44Speaker 8: dump them out, and then we kind of.
- 22:46Speaker 4: All can tell them what we want? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 22:48Speaker 4: For sure.
- 22:49Speaker 3: All right, Ross.
- 22:49Speaker 5: Come on, buddy.
- 22:50Speaker 4: Time to do it!
- 22:51Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 22:51Speaker 4: And we don't even know how many packages are inside there.
- 22:53Speaker 4: What if it's just one thing? I mean, that's a
- 22:56Speaker 4: possibility too, right? I guess. Or is it the whole idea?
- 23:00Speaker 4: Is it to be open a bunch of stuff, isn't it? Yeah,
- 23:02Speaker 4: it's several items. All right, very good. I haven't put
- 23:04Speaker 4: the headphones on so he can hear me making fun
- 23:06Speaker 4: of him. Put the headphones on there, big dog. There
- 23:09Speaker 4: you go.
- 23:09Speaker 11: Oh, good.
- 23:10Speaker 10: Cameras on him and everything.
- 23:11Speaker 4: Talking to Ross. Yeah, there he is. Talking to Ross.
- 23:13Speaker 4: Dump them all out, buddy. Let's go. Here we go.
- 23:15Speaker 4: All right, here we go. Let's see what we got.
- 23:18Speaker 4: We have, oh, this is going to be interesting, guys.
- 23:20Speaker 4: There's an open birthday card in there?
- 23:25Speaker 10: Oh, there's nothing about this that looks fun.
- 23:28Speaker 4: That's a promotional card.
- 23:30Speaker 10: No, I'm talking about the pink and the blue.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Yeah, no.
- 23:32Speaker 4: This is going to be really dead people stuff.
- 23:34Speaker 5: I knew it.
- 23:35Speaker 4: Should we just deal it out? I do get the
- 23:37Speaker 4: feeling that this is like a box of guy stuff
- 23:39Speaker 4: that they just kind of found dead in a park
- 23:41Speaker 4: one day. I'm telling you, someone has been deceased for
- 23:45Speaker 4: a while. Would you stop saying that? Let's just enjoy it.
- 23:49Speaker 4: I will enjoy it, but just know that we are scavengers.
- 23:55Speaker 4: We paid for the privilege. We're state vultures. It's also
- 23:59Speaker 4: really weird to be doing this radio show in the
- 24:01Speaker 4: same room as you.
- 24:02Speaker 5: I know.
- 24:03Speaker 4: I feel naked. Don't look at me. You got all
- 24:06Speaker 4: kinds of stuff there. What's in the box? You can't
- 24:08Speaker 4: open it up yet, dude.
- 24:09Speaker 5: What are you doing?
- 24:10Speaker 4: Am I opening up any of these boxes?
- 24:11Speaker 16: No, no.
- 24:12Speaker 4: You're not opening anything. You're counting. Dude, I gotta tell you,
- 24:15Speaker 4: I'm very intrigued. A lot of stuff is in here.
- 24:19Speaker 4: There's probably 25. Are you serious? 25 objects? No way.
- 24:24Speaker 16: Oh, oh, oh.
- 24:26Speaker 4: We got it.
- 24:27Speaker 1: We got it.
- 24:28Speaker 4: It's unfair. Whoever died really wanted this. It's unfair because
- 24:32Speaker 4: he knows how much it weighs. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So
- 24:36Speaker 4: we get the point, right? Throw it. Throw it. This
- 24:39Speaker 4: feels like a porcelain bobblehead. Okay, stop. I'll take it.
- 24:42Speaker 4: I feel something jiggling.
- 24:43Speaker 5: All right.
- 24:44Speaker 4: Very nice.
- 24:44Speaker 10: That's definitely for me.
- 24:45Speaker 4: Probably the vibrator. So let's figure out who gets to
- 24:49Speaker 4: pick first. I'll take all the purple packages. Deb, pick
- 24:53Speaker 4: a number between one and ten. Seven. Jim, pick a number. No,
- 24:57Speaker 4: it was three, and I guessed three. So I go first.
- 25:03Speaker 4: This is wild. It's still going.
- 25:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:08Speaker 4: Are you serious? Yeah, there's still items. How much does
- 25:10Speaker 4: it feel like it's a lot of junk stuff, like
- 25:13Speaker 4: soap packages? Dude, that is a lot of stuff, bro.
- 25:16Speaker 4: All right. Count the total packages. Give me a total count.
- 25:19Speaker 4: There's four. There's five.
- 25:21Speaker 13: Six.
- 25:22Speaker 5: Seven.
- 25:23Speaker 4: Eight. What is Flow Lab? I don't know.
- 25:27Speaker 5: Keep going. Eight.
- 25:28Speaker 4: Nine. Okay, nine. Ten.
- 25:29Speaker 12: Eleven.
- 25:29Speaker 5: Twelve.
- 25:30Speaker 12: Four.
- 25:35Speaker 4: You guys are so cute. I think we have 16,
- 25:37Speaker 4: which would be perfect. 13, 14.
- 25:39Speaker 5: Dude, we do.
- 25:39Speaker 4: We have 16. Four each? Four each. Oh, this is
- 25:42Speaker 4: for sure an ashtray. Throw that right over here. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:48Speaker 4: Get people's stuff. So we're going to distribute these up
- 25:51Speaker 4: during the break. We'll kind of go in there. We'll
- 25:52Speaker 4: pick them up. And then at 5 o'clock today, tune
- 25:54Speaker 4: in or stay tuned in. And then we'll open up
- 25:56Speaker 4: this mystery box of fun to see if it was
- 25:59Speaker 4: worth the $ 90 that Jack paid for it.
- 26:02Speaker 6: 407-916-1041.
- 26:02Speaker 4: Text us 77031. Take a little break. Back in a
- 26:06Speaker 4: sec with Animal House.
- 26:11Speaker 3: You're listening to The Jim Colbert Show.
- 26:23Speaker 17: JCS crew. Jack, don't worry, brother. I got you, man.
- 26:27Speaker 3: I'm locked in.
- 26:28Speaker 17: And my buddy Wes, I think I sent him, what,
- 26:30Speaker 17: 10 texts last night? He's a Boston Red Sox fan.
- 26:33Speaker 17: And Ben Rice and my man Schlittler, who was throwing
- 26:36Speaker 17: absolute gas last night, bro. 115 pitches. Dude, I always
- 26:41Speaker 17: wanted to be a Yankee pitcher. I was 13 throwing
- 26:44Speaker 17: over 85. But it didn't work out. But I am
- 26:47Speaker 17: going on a seven-day cruise in the morning.
- 26:49Speaker 4: This guy. This guy flexes so hard. He's always going
- 26:54Speaker 4: on a cruise. I got an application with him.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:58Speaker 4: 407-916-1041, text 77031. Welcome back. I'm Jim. Deb, Jack, and
- 27:02Speaker 4: Ross are here as well. Let's do Animal House.
- 27:05Speaker 3: She likes them fuzzy, furry, feathery, tough, and scaly. It's
- 27:11Speaker 3: time for Animal House with Debra Roberts.
- 27:15Speaker 9: And Animal House is generously brought to us each and
- 27:17Speaker 9: every week by personal injury attorney Glenn Klausman over at
- 27:20Speaker 9: Klausman Law. We'll tell you how you can get in
- 27:22Speaker 9: touch with Glenn at the end of the segment. But now,
- 27:25Speaker 9: please join me in welcoming back a, I wasn't going
- 27:29Speaker 9: to say old, but a known face.
- 27:31Speaker 4: Former.
- 27:31Speaker 9: Along with a new friend, Maggie Leiden with the City
- 27:35Speaker 9: of Leesburg and Heidi Gaumet with the Leesburg Humane Society.
- 27:38Speaker 12: Yay!
- 27:41Speaker 10: And you guys are here to talk about the Flapjack 5K.
- 27:44Speaker 4: That is correct. It is happening November 14th. I'm so pumped.
- 27:48Speaker 4: It's the 5K that I am racing Ryan Holmes in.
- 27:51Speaker 10: That's right.
- 27:52Speaker 4: This is also the 5K that I am taking way
- 27:55Speaker 4: too seriously. I love that. That's good. We appreciate the passion.
- 28:00Speaker 8: Now let me ask, are you flapjacking before you run
- 28:02Speaker 8: or are you flapjacking after you run? Because flapjacks doesn't
- 28:05Speaker 8: seem like a real pre-run kind of power-up.
- 28:08Speaker 13: So we're providing the flapjacking after the run. I don't
- 28:12Speaker 13: know how to vary roles. And also I can tell
- 28:16Speaker 13: that Jim doesn't run a fair amount. I'm not saying
- 28:19Speaker 13: pancakes are the best thing pre-run, but simple carbs are.
- 28:23Speaker 13: Simple carbs are.
- 28:24Speaker 4: Yeah, for sure. So who do we have with us today, man?
- 28:26Speaker 4: Who's your little friend there?
- 28:28Speaker 15: My little friend? This is Poppy.
- 28:30Speaker 7: She's actually my dog, but I did get her from
- 28:33Speaker 7: the Leesburg Humane Society.
- 28:35Speaker 10: And so sweet.
- 28:37Speaker 4: Oh, yes.
- 28:37Speaker 15: Yeah, she came in.
- 28:39Speaker 7: She was just six weeks old. She was from someone
- 28:43Speaker 7: who had a litter in their home, gave the dogs
- 28:45Speaker 7: to friends. And then they came into the shelter just
- 28:48Speaker 7: with her and said, I really can't take care of her.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 28:51Speaker 15: Which, you know, we're happy to take her.
- 28:53Speaker 4: Yeah, sure.
- 28:53Speaker 7: And then, of course, the director of the shelter is like,
- 28:56Speaker 7: I don't want to leave her alone in the shelter.
- 28:57Speaker 7: So I'm like, I'll take her home.
- 28:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:59Speaker 15: End of story.
- 29:00Speaker 4: Foster fail. Foster fail. We've legit said, I think, the
- 29:04Speaker 4: hardest job in the world. I marvel over you guys
- 29:07Speaker 4: who can work at these shelters and don't bring 30
- 29:10Speaker 4: of these dogs home. How do you not fall in
- 29:12Speaker 4: love with every one of them?
- 29:13Speaker 15: It's hard.
- 29:14Speaker 7: I've been with the shelter a few years now, and
- 29:16Speaker 7: I have three from the shelter, two cats and her.
- 29:20Speaker 9: What's interesting is you were telling me earlier, Poppy actually
- 29:23Speaker 9: lives with 10 cats.
- 29:24Speaker 15: Yeah, she does.
- 29:25Speaker 7: I hate to admit that because I get the crazy
- 29:27Speaker 7: cat lady title.
- 29:29Speaker 4: Not at all.
- 29:29Speaker 15: Yes, but I'm.
- 29:30Speaker 7: Also lucky enough. I live right next door to the
- 29:32Speaker 7: shelter on a property that they own for a program. So,
- 29:36Speaker 7: you know, I'm easy pickings over there for like, hey,
- 29:39Speaker 7: take a look.
- 29:40Speaker 15: This one home.
- 29:41Speaker 4: She'll do it. Yeah.
- 29:42Speaker 10: How old is Poppy?
- 29:43Speaker 15: Poppy just turned a year this month.
- 29:45Speaker 4: Oh, wow.
- 29:47Speaker 9: And then behind you, I know you have your volunteer, Sonia.
- 29:50Speaker 9: And Sonia, she is holding?
- 29:52Speaker 4: Amelia. Amelia, who is really sweet.
- 29:55Speaker 11: Yes.
- 29:55Speaker 10: She's being a very brave girl. How old is Amelia?
- 29:58Speaker 15: So Amelia is a year and a half.
- 30:01Speaker 4: Oh, they're both babies.
- 30:02Speaker 5: Yes.
- 30:02Speaker 7: And sad story with her, she was actually born at
- 30:05Speaker 7: the shelter because we do take in pregnant moms and
- 30:08Speaker 7: let them have.
- 30:09Speaker 15: The litters there.
- 30:10Speaker 7: She was adopted as a puppy and then returned because
- 30:13Speaker 7: they couldn't house train her. And we know that that
- 30:16Speaker 7: is more on the human aspect of training a human
- 30:18Speaker 7: than the dog. So she came back to us. She's
- 30:21Speaker 7: a little nervous, but she is a love. And she's
- 30:24Speaker 7: full size. She's 22 pounds.
- 30:26Speaker 10: She's perfect for an apartment.
- 30:28Speaker 4: She's so adorable.
- 30:29Speaker 10: Is she good with children?
- 30:31Speaker 7: We don't know about children, but she's great with other dogs.
- 30:34Speaker 7: And I've taken her to events. Actually, I can say, yes,
- 30:37Speaker 7: she's fine with children because I have taken her to
- 30:39Speaker 7: events and she's been great with everybody.
- 30:41Speaker 15: She's very sweet.
- 30:42Speaker 4: Awesome. Is Amelia still a puppy?
- 30:45Speaker 15: No, she's a year and a half.
- 30:46Speaker 4: That's a year and a half, but like.
- 30:48Speaker 10: And she's full grown.
- 30:50Speaker 4: It just blows my mind that a year and a
- 30:52Speaker 4: half is still not enough time for anybody to give
- 30:56Speaker 4: up on a dog and training them.
- 30:58Speaker 9: No, it's certainly not. Especially, yeah, just like you said, Heidi,
- 31:02Speaker 9: that's more on the human side. then on the dog at.
- 31:05Speaker 4: The other end of the leaf well I'll never meet
- 31:07Speaker 4: as people so they're dead they're douche bags yeah yeah
- 31:13Speaker 4: usually we don't use that kind of language around here
- 31:14Speaker 4: man super sorry about that we have company so dirt
- 31:20Speaker 4: bags so who came up with the idea of the
- 31:21Speaker 4: flam jack 5k.
- 31:23Speaker 13: I did did you really yeah so I just wanted
- 31:26Speaker 13: to highlight that the Leesburg Humane Society is going to
- 31:28Speaker 13: be on site at the flapjack 5k So you can
- 31:31Speaker 13: come run, eat flapjacks, and hopefully find a new best friend.
- 31:34Speaker 4: Oh, a new running partner.
- 31:35Speaker 9: I mean, Amelia would be great for maybe a senior,
- 31:39Speaker 9: someone who lives alone, just wants a little bit of
- 31:41Speaker 9: love at the end of the day when you come home.
- 31:43Speaker 9: You'll never be greeted at the door like you are
- 31:45Speaker 9: with a dog.
- 31:46Speaker 15: Exactly.
- 31:47Speaker 4: That is true.
- 31:48Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 31:48Speaker 9: Even with 10 cats, you can say that.
- 31:50Speaker 4: 100%.
- 31:51Speaker 7: I've just been outed on national radio.
- 31:55Speaker 4: I'm really, really excited to take part in a 5K,
- 31:59Speaker 4: any 5K, but the Flapjack 5K where it's me against Ryan.
- 32:03Speaker 4: And I just wanted to take a moment and tell
- 32:04Speaker 4: our listeners. You don't have to run. You don't have
- 32:07Speaker 4: to sprint. You can walk it. You can jog it.
- 32:10Speaker 4: You can alternate. As long as you get your steps in,
- 32:12Speaker 4: you get to enjoy the weather outside. I don't know.
- 32:17Speaker 4: As I keep getting older, I'm like, wow, physical exercise
- 32:20Speaker 4: is crucial. Is it rolling through downtown Leesburg, which is
- 32:23Speaker 4: one of the coolest spots in all of Lake County?
- 32:25Speaker 5: By the way.
- 32:26Speaker 4: It's downtown Leesburg.
- 32:27Speaker 13: We have a couple of trails there as well that
- 32:28Speaker 13: we really like to take advantage of when we do
- 32:30Speaker 13: our 5k.
- 32:31Speaker 4: Um, so yeah, it's going to be right in downtown Leesburg.
- 32:35Speaker 13: Also, I want to let you know that this Saturday,
- 32:38Speaker 13: so last Saturday we did a special with $ 10 off
- 32:41Speaker 13: for national pancake day, but there was a glitch in
- 32:44Speaker 13: the system and for some reason the promo code wasn't working.
- 32:47Speaker 13: So we're making it up to everybody. So this Saturday
- 32:50Speaker 13: you don't need a code or anything. Um, But this Saturday,
- 32:53Speaker 13: all day long, it'll be $ 10 off for registration at runsignup.com.
- 32:56Speaker 4: Damn, that's awesome.
- 32:57Speaker 10: Runsignup.com.
- 32:59Speaker 4: That is correct. Runsignup.com.
- 33:00Speaker 5: Yes, Jack.
- 33:01Speaker 8: Maggie, what comes when you sign up?
- 33:03Speaker 4: What do you get as far as the runner? What's
- 33:05Speaker 4: the race package include?
- 33:06Speaker 13: If you sign up before October 15th, you're going to
- 33:09Speaker 13: get the full swag. So you're going to get the
- 33:10Speaker 13: official t-shirt, the finisher medal. You're going to get a
- 33:13Speaker 13: goodie bag with a bunch of goodies in there. You're
- 33:16Speaker 13: going to get your pancakes, a free mimosa, and all
- 33:19Speaker 13: sorts of fun stuff.
- 33:20Speaker 4: And you're not going to want to miss it. If
- 33:22Speaker 4: you're looking for any excuse to get outside and move
- 33:25Speaker 4: those legs, man, let it be the Flapjack 5K. I
- 33:29Speaker 4: want to see our listeners out there, you know. You're
- 33:32Speaker 4: going to set the tone, dude? I'm trying, man. You're
- 33:34Speaker 4: going to set the tone?
- 33:35Speaker 13: I have plenty of cigarettes, so I don't need to run. Listen,
- 33:37Speaker 13: we're going to have a bar. We've got a DJ.
- 33:39Speaker 13: DJ Angel Abum is playing. We've got a champagne girl
- 33:44Speaker 13: in a 10-foot tall champagne glass.
- 33:46Speaker 4: It's going to be a little bit of everything.
- 33:48Speaker 13: It's like a palooza of pancake fun.
- 33:52Speaker 8: Come on, let's do it. Let's do it as a show.
- 33:54Speaker 8: Let's go there to support Ross. You totally should.
- 33:57Speaker 4: If we can get that one word out of there. Yeah, run.
- 34:01Speaker 5: Run.
- 34:01Speaker 4: You don't have to run. You can stroll.
- 34:05Speaker 9: I'm going to hang out with the dogs and the
- 34:07Speaker 9: cats and help them help our four-legged friends.
- 34:09Speaker 10: Or you can do that.
- 34:11Speaker 9: So what kind of adoption fee would folks be looking
- 34:14Speaker 9: at if they come out to adopt a dog?
- 34:15Speaker 10: And you will have cats there as well, right?
- 34:17Speaker 7: We only bring dogs to events because it is very
- 34:19Speaker 7: stressful for cats to be out at the shelter. But
- 34:22Speaker 7: our adoption fee is $ 95 for a dog, $ 85 for
- 34:26Speaker 7: a cat, but it includes everything. They're vaccinated, dewormed. They're
- 34:30Speaker 7: tested for heartworm, cats for FIV and leukemia. They're spayed
- 34:35Speaker 7: and neutered and microchipped. So they're ready to go. I
- 34:39Speaker 7: would say as far as adoption fees, we're really reasonable.
- 34:42Speaker 5: Wow.
- 34:43Speaker 10: Yeah, that is very reasonable.
- 34:44Speaker 4: Unbelievable.
- 34:45Speaker 9: Because we just dewormed Jimmy not that long ago. Let
- 34:47Speaker 9: me tell you, that's not cheap. That's not cheap.
- 34:50Speaker 4: It was a mess.
- 34:51Speaker 10: It really was.
- 34:52Speaker 4: Just a nasty process. 110 bucks and I'm a fighter.
- 34:54Speaker 4: I did not go to him quietly. Into that good night,
- 35:00Speaker 4: young lady. I made him earn every worm. When does
- 35:06Speaker 4: this thing get started, everything? 7 a.m. on November 14th.
- 35:08Speaker 4: Let's do it, buddy. Come on. It's breakfast time. But
- 35:13Speaker 4: that's when it starts, right?
- 35:15Speaker 6: So 7 a.m.
- 35:16Speaker 13: Is when you want to get there and mull around
- 35:19Speaker 13: and get your spot in line and that kind of thing.
- 35:23Speaker 4: The race will kick off at 8 a.m.
- 35:25Speaker 13: And then you come back and you eat pancakes and
- 35:27Speaker 13: drink mimosas and look at dogs.
- 35:29Speaker 4: And adopt a dog. And adopt a dog. Eight considerably
- 35:32Speaker 4: more manageable.
- 35:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 35:34Speaker 13: Listen, you can get there at like 7.59.
- 35:37Speaker 4: Have some of the runners come by and pick me up.
- 35:40Speaker 4: That's what I would do.
- 35:41Speaker 13: You would be amazed at how many people are there
- 35:43Speaker 13: before 7 o'clock.
- 35:44Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 35:44Speaker 4: I can only imagine.
- 35:45Speaker 8: You want to be done running before 9, which you
- 35:48Speaker 8: would be, and before it even gets warm out there.
- 35:51Speaker 10: Dude, I wouldn't be pulling up until about 11, 11.30.
- 35:54Speaker 4: There's an entire culture of people who do these 5Ks.
- 35:58Speaker 4: There's a giant group of them because there's like a, hello.
- 36:01Speaker 4: You don't do it all the time.
- 36:03Speaker 5: I have.
- 36:04Speaker 4: But when you ran in the Orlando City one, and
- 36:06Speaker 4: my wife and I- And a couple of other ones.
- 36:08Speaker 4: And my wife and I ran with you. We didn't
- 36:10Speaker 4: know that, but we show up. We thought it was
- 36:12Speaker 4: going to be like 100 people. It was not 100 people.
- 36:15Speaker 4: It's a lot more. It was 100 times 100 people.
- 36:17Speaker 4: It was so many people. And then I find out
- 36:19Speaker 4: there's like a culture. These people go around like Disney adults,
- 36:22Speaker 4: and they go to 5Ks, and they run. It's like
- 36:24Speaker 4: a running cult.
- 36:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:25Speaker 4: Yeah, but instead of corporated created magic, we are cardiovascular energy.
- 36:30Speaker 5: Yes.
- 36:31Speaker 4: Yeah. So step out. I'm throwing this out here. Don't
- 36:36Speaker 4: mess with her cardio system. It's very fragile. I will
- 36:40Speaker 4: not even try. Even though, if I'm being honest with you,
- 36:43Speaker 4: I think there would be a lot of solutions to
- 36:45Speaker 4: a lot of questions that you may have on the
- 36:48Speaker 4: other side of a couple of miles. And I mean
- 36:50Speaker 4: that for everyone. Physical exercise, mental health, those two wildly connected.
- 36:56Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 36:57Speaker 4: Thanks, Dad. Been there, tried that.
- 36:58Speaker 13: Listen, even if you don't like to run, when you
- 37:00Speaker 13: get done, you're so proud of yourself and it feels great.
- 37:03Speaker 4: It's so good. Yep.
- 37:05Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 37:05Speaker 4: You'll feel like crap the next day, but that day
- 37:07Speaker 4: you're going to feel great. I am a big believer
- 37:11Speaker 4: of running. I don't know. It's helped me out a
- 37:13Speaker 4: tremendous amount. So whenever I got asked to do this 5K,
- 37:16Speaker 4: I was like, yeah. And what about Holmes? I heard
- 37:18Speaker 4: he was talking noise. Is he smacking? Is he doing
- 37:21Speaker 4: his thing? What's he doing? Does he understand that Ross
- 37:24Speaker 4: does this all the time and is like an athlete?
- 37:25Speaker 4: I think he's trying to hedge his bets.
- 37:28Speaker 8: I think he now realizes that Ross actually runs. But
- 37:33Speaker 8: I think he kind of has that delusion that we
- 37:36Speaker 8: all sometimes find ourselves in.
- 37:37Speaker 4: That we think we're more athletic than we actually are. Right, right, right.
- 37:41Speaker 4: And so I think that's his headspace right now. And
- 37:43Speaker 4: if I'm being for real to get on board with
- 37:46Speaker 4: this little competition, which I will compete because I do
- 37:48Speaker 4: want to beat Ryan Holmes in this race, no doubt
- 37:51Speaker 4: about it, but there's some wiggle room he could catch
- 37:54Speaker 4: up because I'm a little out of shape. The last
- 37:56Speaker 4: time I ran, it was disappointing. But do we know
- 37:58Speaker 4: if he's running at all, though? He does not strike
- 38:01Speaker 4: me as a guy that goes, you know what, I'm
- 38:02Speaker 4: going to go out and prepare for this run. He's
- 38:04Speaker 4: the kind of guy who could get injured by thinking
- 38:06Speaker 4: about running. But he could be psyching you up. Yeah,
- 38:09Speaker 4: that's what I'm saying. He could be pretending. Because he's sneaky. Yeah, exactly.
- 38:12Speaker 13: And then he shows up and takes off and wins.
- 38:15Speaker 13: We're both kind of tall, so we have the same gait.
- 38:18Speaker 4: I'm intrigued.
- 38:19Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 38:19Speaker 4: It's the stamina, man. I don't know that– does he
- 38:22Speaker 4: have the stamina? Because I know you do. I know
- 38:24Speaker 4: you can rip 5Ks, no problem. No, big problem. Right now,
- 38:28Speaker 4: I am struggling. Okay, very good. By the way, just
- 38:30Speaker 4: over 100 spots left.
- 38:32Speaker 8: And also, it's on our website, realradio.fm slash flapjack. The
- 38:36Speaker 8: link is there to get tickets. And if you do
- 38:38Speaker 8: it this Saturday, you're saving $ 10. It's only $ 35.
- 38:41Speaker 13: And when you sign up, you can choose whether you're
- 38:43Speaker 13: Team Ryan or Team Ross.
- 38:46Speaker 5: Oh.
- 38:46Speaker 4: That's the one you got to win, bud.
- 38:49Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 38:49Speaker 4: That's the one you need to win. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 38:52Speaker 4: Screw that run. There may or may not be a
- 38:53Speaker 4: prize for that. We're still working on it.
- 38:55Speaker 11: Really?
- 38:55Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 38:56Speaker 4: Suddenly, I'm not sure what now I think I want
- 38:58Speaker 4: to go. Yeah, yeah. And throwing this out here as well,
- 39:01Speaker 4: it's like, Jim, I understand that anybody who doesn't want
- 39:04Speaker 4: to run, don't run. You don't have to run. In fact,
- 39:07Speaker 4: if you've never ran, I would actually recommend not running.
- 39:10Speaker 1: Okay.
- 39:11Speaker 4: But jog three minutes on, walk three minutes. You know,
- 39:14Speaker 4: this is only a few minutes from my house. Look
- 39:16Speaker 4: at that. You can walk and jog there. It's almost
- 39:18Speaker 4: as if it's meant to be. It's almost as if
- 39:20Speaker 4: it's meant to be. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That didn't take
- 39:22Speaker 4: long for you to catch on. You did the Purple
- 39:24Speaker 4: Pride 5K.
- 39:25Speaker 5: I did.
- 39:25Speaker 4: Right? And you got your jog, and then you took
- 39:27Speaker 4: a break, and then jogged.
- 39:28Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 39:28Speaker 4: That's exactly how we did it. We ran a little
- 39:30Speaker 4: bit and then we walked a little bit. We ran
- 39:31Speaker 4: a little bit and we walked a little bit. There's
- 39:32Speaker 4: so many cool, fun run clubs in Central Florida right now.
- 39:36Speaker 4: And you'll get a really cool shirt. Hell yeah.
- 39:39Speaker 9: Heidi, where do folks go to get more information about
- 39:41Speaker 9: the Leesburg Humane Society?
- 39:46Speaker 7: Our website is LeesburgHumaneSociety.org and you can see all of
- 39:51Speaker 7: our adoptable pets on there and also information about all
- 39:54Speaker 7: of the things that we do. We have a new program,
- 39:58Speaker 7: Forever Home Pet Trust, which we're trying to get the
- 40:00Speaker 7: word out to provide a place for people to plan
- 40:03Speaker 7: for their pets if something should happen to their owner.
- 40:05Speaker 9: Which a lot of times we don't talk enough about.
- 40:08Speaker 9: And then, yeah, there was a situation recently in Central
- 40:11Speaker 9: Florida where someone with a lot of pets Died unexpectedly,
- 40:15Speaker 9: and then nobody knew what to do with the pets
- 40:18Speaker 9: that were left. So they get information about that again.
- 40:20Speaker 9: Where's the website?
- 40:21Speaker 15: It's leesburghumanesociety.org.
- 40:24Speaker 10: Okay, great. And Maggie, to sign up for the Flapjack 5K.
- 40:26Speaker 13: You can go to runsignup.com or leesburgflorida.gov.
- 40:30Speaker 10: All right, put your hands together for Maggie, Heidi, and Sonia.
- 40:33Speaker 6: Yay!
- 40:33Speaker 12: Yay!
- 40:36Speaker 9: And as always, Animal House is brought to us by
- 40:38Speaker 9: Glenn Klausman over at Klausman Law. If you've been in
- 40:40Speaker 9: any kind of an accident, car, truck, motorcycle, even a
- 40:43Speaker 9: slip and fall, you need to call Glenn because Glenn
- 40:45Speaker 9: isn't going to pass your case off to a caseworker.
- 40:48Speaker 9: Glenn is going to personally handle your case so much
- 40:50Speaker 9: so he's going to give you his personal cell phone
- 40:52Speaker 9: number and then pick it up when you call. So
- 40:54Speaker 9: if you've been in an accident, give him a phone
- 40:56Speaker 9: call at 407-917-1718 or check him out online at KlausmanLaw.com.
- 40:58Speaker 4: That's K-L-A-U-S manlaw.com. Thanks, Deb. 407-916-1041. Text us 77031. Back
- 41:10Speaker 4: in a sec with Scott Maxwell from the Orlando Sentinel.
- 41:15Speaker 14: Welcome back to the Jim Korver Show.
- 41:18Speaker 3: We're already at 104.1.
- 41:19Speaker 4: I am Jim.
- 41:20Speaker 14: There's Deb.
- 41:28Speaker 5: Hello.
- 41:28Speaker 9: Jack.
- 41:33Speaker 4: And Ross as well. Crazy. Every Wednesday around this time,
- 41:37Speaker 4: we have a good friend who writes for the Orlando Sentinel.
- 41:40Speaker 4: You can read his columns Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Good
- 41:43Speaker 4: love for Sweet Heat, Mr. Scott Maxwell.
- 41:45Speaker 3: They call him Sweet Heat from his head to his feet.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Sizzling hot like an asphalt street. Dripping to the swag
- 41:53Speaker 3: of an Orlando Sentinel beat, beat, beat.
- 41:57Speaker 4: Ladies and gentlemen, columnist Scott Maxwell.
- 42:03Speaker 5: Here it is.
- 42:04Speaker 4: Give it up for Scott Maxwell. There he goes. What
- 42:08Speaker 4: is up, party people?
- 42:09Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:10Speaker 4: I totally forget about the anthem-esque intro we have for you.
- 42:14Speaker 4: How are things, buddy? My favorite song.
- 42:16Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:17Speaker 4: It's all top ten on my Spotify. Scott Maxwell does
- 42:22Speaker 4: write for the Orlando Sentinel. You can read his columns Wednesdays, Thursdays,
- 42:25Speaker 4: and Sundays. Wednesdays is a fun one. Uh, you know,
- 42:29Speaker 4: in my, uh, in my cycle of reading every morning,
- 42:32Speaker 4: the Sentinel is my next to the last visit. That's
- 42:35Speaker 4: what I do. Cause I wanted the new cycle to
- 42:36Speaker 4: be as fresh as possible once I get to it
- 42:38Speaker 4: for all the local stuff. So I get to your
- 42:40Speaker 4: website around probably eight 30 or nine every morning. And
- 42:43Speaker 4: when I opened it up, uh, before we even text
- 42:45Speaker 4: this morning, usually we shoot a text, but I remember
- 42:47Speaker 4: reading the story this morning. And just thinking, this is unbelievable.
- 42:51Speaker 4: And then you sent me the text and I was like,
- 42:53Speaker 4: I've never, I don't know how to respond to it.
- 42:56Speaker 4: When the guy who is the CFO says during an
- 42:59Speaker 4: interview that it's not his job to audit the state
- 43:02Speaker 4: when it's auditing, it literally is on his business card.
- 43:06Speaker 4: Just simply amazing stuff. Yeah, amazing. That's one word.
- 43:11Speaker 14: And if I can set the scene a little bit,
- 43:15Speaker 14: what caught my attention on this? Because this has been
- 43:16Speaker 14: going on for a while, but what caught my attention
- 43:18Speaker 14: was two weeks ago, the governor, Ron DeSantis, declared another
- 43:22Speaker 14: state of emergency. And there was a day, I'm going
- 43:25Speaker 14: to say, like Deb and I have been doing news
- 43:27Speaker 14: about the same amount of time, I think, in this town.
- 43:29Speaker 14: If the governor ever declared a state of emergency, everybody
- 43:32Speaker 14: would perk up, right?
- 43:33Speaker 4: There's a hurricane coming. There's a wildfire. There's some deadly
- 43:37Speaker 4: disease outbreak.
- 43:38Speaker 14: But he did this two weeks ago, and I don't
- 43:40Speaker 14: think a single news outlet in the state of Florida
- 43:43Speaker 14: reported on it. And the reason was because it wasn't
- 43:46Speaker 14: for any of those things. This was a supposed emergency
- 43:51Speaker 14: on immigration. And the reason it was unusual is because
- 43:56Speaker 14: he first declared this four years ago. Now, states of
- 44:00Speaker 14: emergency are only supposed to last 60 days. And the
- 44:03Speaker 14: reason for that is because any competent and ethical administration
- 44:07Speaker 14: should be able to handle an emergency in 60 days.
- 44:10Speaker 4: But there is a provision. Maybe you've got a Category
- 44:12Speaker 4: 5 Andrew, right? That's going to linger for a while.
- 44:15Speaker 1: So.
- 44:16Speaker 14: A governor can declare a state of emergency. And what
- 44:18Speaker 14: this allows them to do is it allows them to
- 44:21Speaker 14: bypass all the rules for spending money. Not all the rules,
- 44:25Speaker 14: but a lot of them. Normally, you have to bid
- 44:27Speaker 14: out contracts. You know, if you want to issue somebody
- 44:30Speaker 14: to build a building, the way it works in government
- 44:32Speaker 14: is you say, hey, I'd like to build a building.
- 44:34Speaker 14: I'd like 10 companies to apply, and we're going to
- 44:36Speaker 14: vet them all for the best experience and the best price.
- 44:39Speaker 4: That's the way.
- 44:40Speaker 14: The governor does it so that taxpayers don't pay too much.
- 44:44Speaker 14: States of emergency throw that all out the window, theoretically
- 44:47Speaker 14: under the notion that a big storm came through. We've
- 44:49Speaker 14: got to get something done real fast, so we don't
- 44:51Speaker 14: have time to put it out to bid. Well, it
- 44:53Speaker 14: only lasts for 60 days. But Governor DeSantis decided, oh,
- 44:57Speaker 14: my God, I love spending money without being accountable to anybody.
- 45:02Speaker 14: I love not bidding any of this stuff out. I
- 45:04Speaker 14: love not even having to post on a public database
- 45:08Speaker 14: how much I've spent on all this thing. So we
- 45:10Speaker 14: took the 60 day emergency. And as of two weeks ago,
- 45:14Speaker 14: he extended it for the 23rd time. I don't think
- 45:19Speaker 14: any state of emergency in the state has ever lasted
- 45:21Speaker 14: this long for an actual emergency. Certainly not for something
- 45:25Speaker 14: like this. And the reason is he's done it is
- 45:27Speaker 14: that we have now spent.
- 45:29Speaker 4: It's hard. It's hard to even know.
- 45:30Speaker 14: But the estimations of is billions, billions of tax dollars,
- 45:34Speaker 14: much of it unchecked, completely.
- 45:36Speaker 4: Unchecked, completely. No. And by the way, is it there
- 45:39Speaker 4: another timeline deficiency, Scott, that once it goes past that timeline,
- 45:42Speaker 4: I think it's one year that the audits become automatic,
- 45:45Speaker 4: according to Florida law and the Florida Constitution.
- 45:48Speaker 14: Yes, it's a Florida law. So apparently, like some years ago,
- 45:52Speaker 14: somebody thought, well, you know what? There is a scenario
- 45:54Speaker 14: where some governor could try to claim like there's an
- 45:57Speaker 14: emergency going on for more than a year. And maybe
- 45:59Speaker 14: you have, like I said, some category five storm. So
- 46:02Speaker 14: they put a law in place and it says that.
- 46:04Speaker 14: In the rare instance where a governor extends this past
- 46:07Speaker 14: a year, an audit has to immediately take place after
- 46:11Speaker 14: one year and it has to be updated every year afterwards.
- 46:14Speaker 14: We are now nearly four years. We are 44 months
- 46:18Speaker 14: into this 60-day emergency and the state has not conducted
- 46:21Speaker 14: and released a single audit on this. That, and I
- 46:24Speaker 14: don't say this lightly, is illegal. There is a state
- 46:27Speaker 14: statute that says the audits must be conducted.
- 46:30Speaker 4: They have not been conducted and released.
- 46:34Speaker 14: And the auditor general has not done it. And as
- 46:36Speaker 14: you alluded to, we supposedly have a checks and balance
- 46:39Speaker 14: of a CFO, a chief financial officer, one of only
- 46:42Speaker 14: four statewide elected cabinet positions. This is a guy, Blazingoglia,
- 46:47Speaker 14: who goes all over the state claiming he has the
- 46:50Speaker 14: ability to audit anything, anywhere, at any time.
- 46:53Speaker 4: But on this one particular issue... Blaise Ngoglia says, nah,
- 46:57Speaker 4: I don't really think I need to audit that. How
- 46:59Speaker 4: is that happening? Like, is it just because Florida's politics
- 47:02Speaker 4: are dominated so much by Republicans? No one is like
- 47:05Speaker 4: taking action to sue. There are no there are no
- 47:07Speaker 4: activist groups that can do this. No, like no, like no.
- 47:12Speaker 4: Not NAACP, but– Like a watchdog group. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 47:16Speaker 8: Like a watchdog group that would– like ACLU. Like they
- 47:20Speaker 8: would just come in on behalf of the state and sue.
- 47:23Speaker 14: It would probably be like a– in this case, in
- 47:25Speaker 14: my estimation, it would be like somebody who stands up
- 47:27Speaker 14: for taxpayers. And I've given what you're talking about some thought.
- 47:30Speaker 14: One of the things that's weird about lawsuits and litigation
- 47:34Speaker 14: is you have to have standing. That's one of the
- 47:36Speaker 14: things courts say you have to be. You have to
- 47:38Speaker 14: basically be an aggrieved party. I would argue that the
- 47:41Speaker 14: aggrieved party could be anybody who pays taxes in the
- 47:44Speaker 14: state of Florida because they are not getting the audits
- 47:46Speaker 14: to which they are entitled. But nobody has filed that
- 47:49Speaker 14: audit to answer your question, that lawsuit demanding the audits
- 47:52Speaker 14: to answer your question.
- 47:53Speaker 4: Why?
- 47:54Speaker 14: I would say because a lot of the people getting
- 47:56Speaker 14: these contracts are big donors and they're not just big
- 47:59Speaker 14: donors to the governor, which they are. They're big donors
- 48:01Speaker 14: to the party. They're probably to both parties, but definitely
- 48:04Speaker 14: to the Republican Party. And they're the ones that are
- 48:07Speaker 14: funding these guys campaign. So they're all willing to look
- 48:10Speaker 14: the other way. The thing that I know sort of
- 48:13Speaker 14: steams your clam, Jim, is that this is one of
- 48:15Speaker 14: those things that if you take a step back.
- 48:17Speaker 4: If anything, this should be a conservative issue. Right.
- 48:22Speaker 1: 100%.
- 48:22Speaker 4: This is why I keep harping back to the alligator
- 48:24Speaker 4: Alcatraz thing. I mean, conservatives, I was a conservative for years.
- 48:28Speaker 4: I have very little in common with the conservative party
- 48:31Speaker 4: right now, the Republican Party right now. But that's the
- 48:33Speaker 4: whole idea. One of the reasons I was attracted to
- 48:36Speaker 4: the conservative party of Republicans to begin with is because
- 48:38Speaker 4: they were fiscally responsible. That was the whole idea. That
- 48:41Speaker 4: was one of the big selling points. Let's be fiscally responsible.
- 48:44Speaker 4: Let's spend money when it's supposed to be spent. Let's
- 48:46Speaker 4: not be frivolous with this money. And now, you know,
- 48:49Speaker 4: you go and spend $ 1. 2 billion on a facility that's
- 48:53Speaker 4: not even open anymore with a guarantee from the feds
- 48:56Speaker 4: that they're going to pay us back. I haven't seen
- 48:57Speaker 4: a dime of that or very little of it. And
- 48:59Speaker 4: it came from DHS when we did get it. I
- 49:02Speaker 4: think we're still owed well over a billion dollars for
- 49:04Speaker 4: that facility for the upkeep and the building. I don't
- 49:07Speaker 4: know that we'll ever see that money. And that's just
- 49:09Speaker 4: one aspect of it. I think your numbers are about right, Jim.
- 49:14Speaker 14: And I got to tell you, what is just mind-boggling
- 49:16Speaker 14: and maddening is I don't know what the numbers are.
- 49:19Speaker 4: Right.
- 49:20Speaker 14: Of time two days ago trying to answer this exact question.
- 49:23Speaker 14: How much are we owed from the feds and how
- 49:24Speaker 14: much have we spent? And I'm glad you mentioned Alligator Alcatraz.
- 49:27Speaker 14: I should have said it in the beginning. That's the
- 49:28Speaker 14: lion's share of this. That's where the most of this
- 49:31Speaker 14: emergency spending has happened. This has been the things that
- 49:34Speaker 14: we've talked about before on this show, where all of
- 49:36Speaker 14: a sudden there's a $ 92 million contract cut. to a
- 49:40Speaker 14: porta potty company, a porta potty company who hired as
- 49:43Speaker 14: a lobbyist, Brian Ballard, a guy who is really plugged
- 49:47Speaker 14: in with both the governor and the president. They get so, so,
- 49:50Speaker 14: Maybe you're going to make an argument that we got
- 49:52Speaker 14: $ 92 million worth of goods out of that, but the
- 49:56Speaker 14: taxpayers should be able to see the contract. They should
- 49:58Speaker 14: be able to see everything they got. We haven't gotten
- 50:00Speaker 14: anything like that. An auditor should have gone in and said,
- 50:03Speaker 14: this was a great deal. This was a terrible deal.
- 50:05Speaker 14: We haven't even gotten fake sort of audits on this stuff.
- 50:08Speaker 14: And the bottom line, as you pointed out, it's over
- 50:10Speaker 14: a billion dollars. This was a tent in cages facility.
- 50:14Speaker 14: A billion dollars used to be able to buy you
- 50:16Speaker 14: things like a big casino in Las Vegas, right? Like
- 50:18Speaker 14: mortar that's going to be there for several decades. This
- 50:21Speaker 14: was a tent and cages facility that was so egregiously
- 50:25Speaker 14: overpriced that the federal administration, Trump's administration, shut this thing
- 50:30Speaker 14: down after more than a year. I mean, excuse me,
- 50:32Speaker 14: after less than a year. And the last the last
- 50:34Speaker 14: estimate I saw at a CBS News Miami said that
- 50:37Speaker 14: they were spending something like thirty five hundred dollars per
- 50:40Speaker 14: inmate per day.
- 50:41Speaker 4: Yeah. Let that number sink in for a minute. Did
- 50:44Speaker 4: you see the other number they compared that with? An
- 50:47Speaker 4: ICE detainee is one sixty seven a day.
- 50:50Speaker 14: Yes, it was 20 times what ICE is normally spending
- 50:54Speaker 14: on detainees. We were spending down there. If that's not
- 50:57Speaker 14: ready to be audited, I don't know what is. So also,
- 51:01Speaker 14: I go to the auditor generals. This is a separate position,
- 51:04Speaker 14: and technically, they're supposed to be the one to do it.
- 51:06Speaker 14: And I ask them, why haven't you done this? The paper,
- 51:09Speaker 14: why haven't you audited? As law said, it's not ambiguous.
- 51:12Speaker 4: It's not optional. Why haven't you audited?
- 51:14Speaker 14: And the response we get is, well, the DeSantis administration
- 51:17Speaker 14: didn't file all these contracts. in a single repository that
- 51:21Speaker 14: makes it easy for us to see what they did.
- 51:23Speaker 4: Well, what the hell is wrong with you? That's even
- 51:25Speaker 4: more of a reason.
- 51:26Speaker 14: That's a big red flag if they're not making it
- 51:28Speaker 14: easy for you to see the contracts.
- 51:30Speaker 4: Wow. So what happens in Florida? I mean, it's solidly
- 51:34Speaker 4: red right now. I don't really know how close it
- 51:36Speaker 4: is with Jolly and Donald's or whatever, but if there
- 51:39Speaker 4: is some changeover with the election in Florida and some
- 51:42Speaker 4: of these, is this something that a new administration would
- 51:44Speaker 4: start investigating immediately and possibly handing out you know, and
- 51:48Speaker 4: possibly kind of thinking about pressing charges against.
- 51:51Speaker 14: People who do stuff like this or no. You would
- 51:53Speaker 14: have to get change in the office. And I don't
- 51:55Speaker 14: really suffer delusions. You know, I've talked about this many
- 51:57Speaker 14: times before. I think this is a red state. I
- 51:59Speaker 14: think Byron Donald is probably going to win. He's not
- 52:02Speaker 14: actually quite as on his solid footing as I thought
- 52:04Speaker 14: he would have been two months ago.
- 52:06Speaker 4: But I think he's going to win.
- 52:07Speaker 14: But I would say unabashedly, and I will not cower
- 52:10Speaker 14: away from this, voters, if they care about accountability, should
- 52:13Speaker 14: elect a new CFO. There is a Democrat running. Her
- 52:17Speaker 14: name is Annette Taddeo. And I talked with her about this.
- 52:19Speaker 14: I actually talked with her about it more than once.
- 52:21Speaker 14: And what I give her everything blazing Oglia says about
- 52:23Speaker 14: why he doesn't think he needs to audit this.
- 52:25Speaker 4: And she says it's BS. It's BS across the board.
- 52:28Speaker 14: And by the way, this is like going to somebody
- 52:30Speaker 14: to ask for confirmation that the sky's blue. Do you
- 52:33Speaker 14: really need anybody else to tell you that the CFO,
- 52:36Speaker 14: the chief auditor of the state has an, has an
- 52:38Speaker 14: ability and an obligation to audit the way the money spent.
- 52:41Speaker 14: She says it's the first thing she would do. And
- 52:43Speaker 14: I think that's the only way you're going to get
- 52:44Speaker 14: some accountability is if you get some new blood.
- 52:46Speaker 5: So, all right.
- 52:47Speaker 14: So, so you're hardcore Republican Republican. Vote Byron Donalds. But, man,
- 52:50Speaker 14: put a little checks and accountability on there. And I
- 52:53Speaker 14: would say for things like the CFO and the attorney general.
- 52:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:56Speaker 8: Well, you could vote for today. Oh, but the Republicans
- 52:59Speaker 8: do have a great campaign against her. They say vote
- 53:02Speaker 8: for her. They said not today. Oh, not tomorrow.
- 53:05Speaker 4: Do they really? I don't know. I don't know how
- 53:08Speaker 4: you defeat that.
- 53:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 53:09Speaker 4: They're marketing people. I think you left off the last.
- 53:11Speaker 4: I think the last one's not ever.
- 53:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:13Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 53:13Speaker 4: Not today. Oh, not tomorrow. Not ever. Yeah. There you go. Well, very.
- 53:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 53:17Speaker 4: I think that.
- 53:18Speaker 1: And.
- 53:18Speaker 4: I think we need checks and balances. And you know what?
- 53:20Speaker 14: This is normally what the United States does, a pendulum swings, right?
- 53:25Speaker 14: And I think everybody agrees that total control is a
- 53:28Speaker 14: bad idea. And I think that pendulum is about to
- 53:30Speaker 14: swing pretty heartily like in the U.S.
- 53:32Speaker 4: House back over.
- 53:33Speaker 14: And I think that's mostly Americans who want some checks
- 53:35Speaker 14: and balances. And I think Floridians should.
- 53:37Speaker 4: Want it as well. Yeah, very much. You read the
- 53:40Speaker 4: story today and you should. OrlandoSentinel.com, Scott's is on the
- 53:43Speaker 4: local and state, always the head story. I suggest if
- 53:45Speaker 4: you live in the state of Florida and you care
- 53:47Speaker 4: about accountability, and you care about how your money is spent,
- 53:50Speaker 4: that's what politicians basically are, guys. They're people we hire
- 53:53Speaker 4: to spend our money on the things that we think
- 53:54Speaker 4: are important for our communities. You really need to dig
- 53:58Speaker 4: deep and find out if this is what you want
- 53:59Speaker 4: in office when it comes to people spending your hard-earned
- 54:02Speaker 4: tax dollars, especially when you talk about the idea of accountability.
- 54:06Speaker 4: You talk about the idea of a paper trail, bidding
- 54:09Speaker 4: contracts out the way it's supposed to be, and then,
- 54:11Speaker 4: of course, using the– and by the way, this has
- 54:12Speaker 4: been used by presidents before with the national emergency thing, right?
- 54:15Speaker 4: Same type thing? if they consider a national emergency or
- 54:18Speaker 4: a national security issue. I don't know that I've seen
- 54:20Speaker 4: one four years, but yes, absolutely. I haven't seen it
- 54:22Speaker 4: for four years either, but just give people a parallel
- 54:24Speaker 4: of what happens when, you know, if the feds want
- 54:27Speaker 4: to get something through and they don't want to go
- 54:28Speaker 4: through the process, it's always a national security issue.
- 54:31Speaker 14: If a bridge has been knocked out, you don't have
- 54:34Speaker 14: two weeks to put a contract out for bid.
- 54:36Speaker 4: You need to get the bridge back open and everybody
- 54:38Speaker 4: understands that.
- 54:39Speaker 14: And while you're talking about the paper, I'll put one
- 54:41Speaker 14: other plug for For us in general, if you're ever
- 54:44Speaker 14: interested in news, I'd say this is the time that
- 54:47Speaker 14: a newspaper is going to serve you well heading into
- 54:49Speaker 14: the elections, because we're writing about most every race out
- 54:52Speaker 14: there and not just writing.
- 54:54Speaker 4: We're putting both sides out there like the.
- 54:56Speaker 14: Editorial board is interviewing both candidates and they're going to
- 54:59Speaker 14: give you a recommendation.
- 55:00Speaker 4: They're going to tell you why they think the way
- 55:02Speaker 4: they do.
- 55:02Speaker 14: They, by the way, also have said we need change
- 55:05Speaker 14: in the attorney general's office, but they're going to put
- 55:07Speaker 14: both candidates if the candidates agree to answer questions.
- 55:10Speaker 4: And you can hear them for yourself.
- 55:11Speaker 14: And on something like Amendment 3, I know your listeners
- 55:14Speaker 14: care passionately about that. I've heard that that's the property
- 55:17Speaker 14: tax amendment. There's going to be pieces from the editorial board.
- 55:21Speaker 14: There's going to be people's pieces from both sides of that. Realtors,
- 55:24Speaker 14: for instance, we're going to make the best case they
- 55:26Speaker 14: can for why they think it needs to pass.
- 55:29Speaker 4: And you can hear from both sides.
- 55:30Speaker 14: So and I think unlike a lot of other places,
- 55:32Speaker 14: newspapers vet that stuff a little better than other places.
- 55:37Speaker 4: Yeah, 100%, I would agree with that. I think most
- 55:39Speaker 4: people believe the Orlando Sentinel would only endorse Democrats, but
- 55:43Speaker 4: that's not been the case at all, actually. Oh, my gosh.
- 55:47Speaker 4: I don't remember the stat.
- 55:48Speaker 14: We have endorsed mostly Democrats for the past decade, and
- 55:51Speaker 14: I think that's largely been checks and balances that we're
- 55:53Speaker 14: talking about. But the Orlando Sentinel existed for something like
- 55:56Speaker 14: half a century and endorsed Republicans for president every single
- 56:01Speaker 14: election except for JFK.
- 56:03Speaker 4: I mean, historically, it.
- 56:07Speaker 14: Has gone back and forth, but I do think it
- 56:09Speaker 14: has definitely been a push for checks and balance lately.
- 56:12Speaker 4: You got it, buddy. Always good talking to you guys.
- 56:14Speaker 4: Good line for Scott Maxwell. What did he say?
- 56:16Speaker 7: Yay!

- 56:25Speaker 4: seeing you, buddy. Have a great week, guys. You as well, bud.
- 56:28Speaker 4: All right, 407-916-1041. Text us, 77031. Back in one sec
- 56:31Speaker 4: with more of the Jim Colbert Show.
- 56:33Speaker 16: Ashley Moody's accusation against Nixon stating that she wanted to
- 56:37Speaker 16: abolish the police. And Nixon responded back saying, Why would
- 56:41Speaker 16: I want to abolish the police when I want to
- 56:44Speaker 16: see you in jail for stealing $ 10 million from sick kids?
- 56:49Speaker 16: It's on. We all know how important a vote can be.
- 56:54Speaker 16: So get out there and vote.
- 56:56Speaker 5: Aloha.
- 56:57Speaker 17: Hey, guys.
- 56:58Speaker 5: Hope you guys are doing well.
- 56:59Speaker 4: So, Deb, you said that that logo was a Jaguar logo.
- 57:02Speaker 4: So that, I know that it doesn't belong to Jim.
- 57:04Speaker 4: But if it was a Jaguar logo, then I know
- 57:06Speaker 4: who it belongs to.
- 57:07Speaker 6: Thanks.
- 57:08Speaker 4: Bye. Sir, you mean Jaguar. That's what you mean.
- 57:11Speaker 5: Jaguar. All right.
- 57:13Speaker 4: Welcome back. I'm Jim. There's Deb.
- 57:14Speaker 10: Hello.
- 57:15Speaker 4: And Sauce.
- 57:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 57:17Speaker 4: You guys want to play a little game?
- 57:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 57:20Speaker 4: I love games. You want to play a little game?
- 57:21Speaker 4: All right, I'm going to read this story, and I
- 57:24Speaker 4: want you to tell me what business this happened outside of. Okay?
- 57:29Speaker 4: Is that a fair game?
- 57:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 57:31Speaker 4: This is in Lee County, Florida. A woman was arrested
- 57:33Speaker 4: in Lee County, said she exposed herself to a man
- 57:35Speaker 4: during an argument, threatened him, and caused a disturbance outside
- 57:39Speaker 4: this business on Sunday. They received a report that a
- 57:43Speaker 4: man and a woman were arguing... Um, and the deputy
- 57:46Speaker 4: saw the woman later identified as 24 year old Cheyenne Hammond,
- 57:50Speaker 4: no do in an agitated state at the scene. Uh,
- 57:54Speaker 4: she said the man told deputies that, uh, Hammond walked
- 57:57Speaker 4: toward him and said something to him as he was
- 57:59Speaker 4: walking from a bank across the plaza. He told deputies,
- 58:02Speaker 4: he didn't know what she said. He asked her what
- 58:04Speaker 4: she wanted before she began yelling. Uh, then she, uh,
- 58:07Speaker 4: threatened to hit the victim, walked toward him, then pulled
- 58:11Speaker 4: up her dress and exposed her genitals, uh, And then
- 58:15Speaker 4: screamed at him that she wanted to have sex with him.
- 58:17Speaker 5: Oh, boy.
- 58:18Speaker 4: The victim backed away, fearing that the woman would hit him,
- 58:21Speaker 4: called law enforcement, and then she was arrested. She was
- 58:25Speaker 4: charged with disorderly conduct, breach of peace, exposure of sexual organs,
- 58:30Speaker 4: and simple assault. What business did that happen outside of? Daycare.
- 58:34Speaker 10: Waffle House.
- 58:34Speaker 4: Chuck E.
- 58:35Speaker 5: Cheese.
- 58:35Speaker 4: Waffle House is the answer.
- 58:38Speaker 10: She just finished her shift.
- 58:41Speaker 4: Waffle House is the answer, Ross. It's always the answer.
- 58:44Speaker 4: I was there today.
- 58:45Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 58:47Speaker 4: Got an all-star breakfast with my son.
- 58:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 58:49Speaker 4: It's becoming like a little tradition. Man, I haven't been
- 58:51Speaker 4: in a Waffle House in a while. I haven't been
- 58:53Speaker 4: to any of those old school. I go to the
- 58:56Speaker 4: new breakfast places. I haven't been to IHOP or Waffle
- 58:58Speaker 4: House or Huddle House in a while. Does your wife
- 59:00Speaker 4: know you bring your child into a Waffle House? Yeah.
- 59:04Speaker 4: All right. They got eggs. You get waffles with them?
- 59:07Speaker 4: What do you get? Is he a pancake guy?
- 59:09Speaker 3: No.
- 59:09Speaker 5: No.
- 59:10Speaker 4: Not at Waffle House. You can get pancakes at Waffle House, buddy.
- 59:17Speaker 4: You better be able to get pancakes at Waffle House.
- 59:20Speaker 18: What?
- 59:21Speaker 4: We got to get you back into your roots, dude.
- 59:23Speaker 4: Hold on one second. We got to bring you back
- 59:25Speaker 4: to a Waffle House so you understand what life is
- 59:27Speaker 4: all about again. I know what it's all about. I
- 59:29Speaker 4: need to find out if this menu has pancakes. There's
- 59:32Speaker 4: no way the Waffle House doesn't have pancakes. I don't
- 59:36Speaker 4: even know what to say. Were you saying that you
- 59:38Speaker 4: can't go to a Waffle House and order a pancake?
- 59:40Speaker 4: Can't you go to IHOP and order a waffle? You're
- 59:44Speaker 4: saying it with so much conviction that I feel like
- 59:46Speaker 4: I'm second-guessing myself, but I was born and raised in
- 59:50Speaker 4: a Waffle House. Yeah? Never a pancake. It would be
- 59:54Speaker 4: sacrilegious to sell a pancake. You think so?
- 59:57Speaker 5: Why?
- 59:58Speaker 4: It would be... It's a breakfast food. Yeah, but it's... Dude,
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: I'm telling you, they don't have pancakes.
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: They don't? I don't think they have pancakes. I'm on
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: their menu right now. It is called the Waffle House.
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: It's called the Waffle House, but usually they also have omelets.
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: It's not the Omelet House. It's the same ingredient in
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: a waffle, right? More butter, I think. And I have
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: absolutely nailed how to consume a waffle at a Waffle House.
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: You've got to order them well done. Oh, yeah, so
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: they're super crispy? Not just super crispy, but that they
- 1:00:29Speaker 4: can hold against the test of time a little bit more.
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: So you put like butter and syrup on one half
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: of the waffle, you eat that half, and then you
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: butter and syrup the other half. Oh, that's brilliant. Why
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: is that brilliant?
- 1:00:41Speaker 9: Because then it doesn't get soggy and it maintains that
- 1:00:45Speaker 9: crisp edge.
- 1:00:46Speaker 4: Oh, that's pretty smart. You're right. Deb knows my love language.
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: Are you a real butter guy or are you a
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: margarine guy? I'm a whatever Waffle House gives me, which
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: is this weird whipped yellow concoction. It tastes good and
- 1:00:56Speaker 4: I don't care. That's actual grease. Yeah, I don't know
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: what it is, but it works. Yeah, yeah. I'm a
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: real butter guy. And when I do pancakes, I actually
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: turn pancakes into like a dessert these days because I
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: haven't had a pancake for like breakfast in quite a while.
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: I've had more pancakes for dinner than I've had for
- 1:01:11Speaker 4: breakfast in probably the last five years of my life.
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: And then make sure to get your Waffle House's waffles
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: well done because if you don't, by the end, it's
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: kind of a pancake. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Do you have
- 1:01:22Speaker 4: a waffle iron at home?
- 1:01:23Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: I do.
- 1:01:24Speaker 9: You do?
- 1:01:25Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:26Speaker 4: Do you ever make it at home? Sure. I have not.
- 1:01:28Speaker 5: Why not?
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: Because of Mama Kim. What do you mean, Mama Kim?
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: I mean, Mama Kim. Dude, I don't go to Waffle
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: House just for the hash browns, cheese, and, you know. Oh,
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: you go for the people. I go there because. Mama
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: Kim is a server, I assume? Yeah, and then he's
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: kind of been, he's been called the Prince of Casa
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: de la Waffle. Who, your son?
- 1:01:49Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: The Prince of Casa de la Waffle.
- 1:01:52Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:01:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: That's what he goes by over there. Yeah, that's what
- 1:01:55Speaker 4: his name is. And it makes me feel really good
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: because whenever they see him walking up, they get all excited,
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: and now they're becoming friends. Yeah, yeah. And I just
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: really appreciate the real level of humanity that I think
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: a Waffle House brings that I don't think any other
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: restaurant can. When's the last time you went to a
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: Waffle House? Oh, it's been a hot minute. I was
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: just trying to think while he was telling the story.
- 1:02:18Speaker 4: The last time I was at a Waffle House, and
- 1:02:19Speaker 4: it has been a long, long time. It could be 10, 20,
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: 30 years.
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: Not for me. We went to a Waffle House when
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: we were on one of our trips, but I still
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: think that was three or four or five years ago.
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: And we knew the minute we sat down, we made
- 1:02:31Speaker 4: a mistake. And not because it was just where this
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: thing was. It was a rowdy area, and it was
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: kind of a wild ride that day. Yeah, maybe it's
- 1:02:40Speaker 4: just not. your thing because pressure makes diamonds. The rougher
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: the town, the better the Waffle House experience. You think so?
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: Yeah, man.
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: It's all about, it's a dinner theater. They don't tell
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: you about the theater part. Sometimes you got to figure
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: that on your own.
- 1:02:55Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:02:55Speaker 4: Do you know the Waffle House that used to be
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: on the corner of I-4 and Lee Road? It's now
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: like a parts store or something. That thing had a
- 1:03:01Speaker 4: full bar. No way. It had a full bar. When
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: you walked into the regular part of the Waffle House,
- 1:03:08Speaker 4: there was the regular Waffle House, right?
- 1:03:10Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:03:10Speaker 4: But on the right-hand side, when you walked in, there
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: was another area of the Waffle House, and it had
- 1:03:15Speaker 4: a fully stocked, full-ride bar where you could get a margarita,
- 1:03:19Speaker 4: you could get an old-fashioned. Let me tell you something.
- 1:03:22Speaker 4: You haven't lived until you've had a Waffle House old-fashioned.
- 1:03:25Speaker 5: Dang it.
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: You just haven't lived. You haven't breathed deeply until you've
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: tasted the luxurious stuff. sensible flavors of a Waffle House old-fashioned.
- 1:03:37Speaker 4: Out of all the people that I would like to have...
- 1:03:40Speaker 4: Waffle House is kind of like eating psilocybin mushrooms. It's
- 1:03:44Speaker 4: like you want to take somebody there for the experience? Well,
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: it's just like... Somebody do this on Waffle House. Well, no, like...
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: When it comes to eating trippy mushrooms and going to
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: Waffle House, I get a little choosy on who I
- 1:03:54Speaker 4: would experience that with.
- 1:03:55Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:03:56Speaker 5: Right?
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: And I wouldn't go to Waffle House with you. With me,
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: you would not? Not ideally, not preferably. Why, buddy? I
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: would bring you there. It's not like I wouldn't, but
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: in priority, in order, Deb, number one. What? I can't
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: even begin. Look, nothing against Debra. I mean, I would
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: take Debra as well, but I do not understand the logic.
- 1:04:15Speaker 5: Yeah, because.
- 1:04:17Speaker 4: Deb's got a Waffle House vibe is what you're saying?
- 1:04:19Speaker 5: No, no, no.
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: She doesn't have a Waffle House vibe.
- 1:04:21Speaker 9: It's the cigarettes rolled up in my t-shirt sleeve. Let
- 1:04:24Speaker 9: them know right off rip. Don't mess with me.
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: It's the burn out of the parking lot. Hopefully I'm
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: not throwing you underneath the bus. Here's a great example.
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: Deb's cup, I believe. Right? I think it's a fast
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: food chain on the cup, right? That's why. Because if
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: I take you to Waffle House, I'm like, dude. Oh,
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: he's too bougie for that. You guys would be like,
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: oh my God, it's not even cooked. Or like some weird.
- 1:04:47Speaker 9: He's like, this isn't a Nescafe.
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: You think Jack would be bougie like that? Bougie? I
- 1:04:51Speaker 4: just think he would go on the other opposite side
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: and be like, for these prices? Yeah, yeah, yeah. So
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: it would be like a lose-lose. What's that say? You
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: were at a Waffle House, Jack? 20 years?
- 1:05:01Speaker 5: 30 years ago?
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: I had no idea. Never will. Went to a Bob
- 1:05:04Speaker 4: Evans a couple years ago. Yeah, that's a good one.
- 1:05:06Speaker 4: That's a good breakfast deal. It's the one that's never
- 1:05:09Speaker 4: talked about that is really good.
- 1:05:10Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: It really is. They have good-ass French toast at Bob Evans.
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: And the other one is Perkins. They have a thing
- 1:05:17Speaker 4: called the Tremendous 12 at Perkins. It's like three pancakes.
- 1:05:20Speaker 4: It's like hash browns, sausage, you know, the whole nine yards. And, man,
- 1:05:24Speaker 4: Perkins pancake mix is so good. I'm from Jersey. I
- 1:05:28Speaker 4: need a diner. I need a legit diner.
- 1:05:30Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:30Speaker 4: That looked like it once rolled on wheels.
- 1:05:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: You need chrome. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I want chrome. You
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: need chrome-rimmed stools and stuff. And I want the jukebox
- 1:05:40Speaker 4: on the table.
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:41Speaker 4: So I don't have to get up. You're talking about
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: Waffle House, essentially. It really is Waffle House. Just replace
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: chrome with poop brown and you're there. All right, 407-916-1041.
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: Text us 77031. All right, we ordered this mystery box,
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: or Jack ordered this mystery box last week. We opened
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: it up. We distributed all the packages. When we return,
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: we are going to open these packages and find out
- 1:06:03Speaker 4: what is in a $ 90 mystery fun box, and we'll
- 1:06:07Speaker 4: tell you whether it's worth it or not. We'll do
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: that next. What do you do, Hilda? You know him.
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: Your favorite tea bagging. To the Elizabethan Falls. All right.
- 1:06:19Speaker 4: And today we raise a beer to ask a stupid
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: question day. So, here's our couple. If wine is basically
- 1:06:27Speaker 4: just grapes and stuff, isn't that mean beer is just
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: wheat juice? Why is it called a monkey wrench? It's
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: not even shaped like a monkey. Any whoosins. Have a
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: good show, y'all.
- 1:06:40Speaker 10: Peace.
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: All right, buddy. Thank you so much. 407-916-1041. Text us 77031.
- 1:06:45Speaker 4: I'm Jim. Here's Deb. Hello.
- 1:06:48Speaker 5: Yep.
- 1:06:48Speaker 4: Me and Ross here today. Very exciting. All right. So, again,
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: if you were listening to the show last week, I
- 1:06:53Speaker 4: stumbled into a story about the mystery fun box. And
- 1:06:57Speaker 4: how it was basically scoured from undelivered mail and all
- 1:07:02Speaker 4: kinds of return mail packages that were undelivered. I mean,
- 1:07:07Speaker 4: Ross did a little research on one of his. I know.
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: It's crazy. And this is exactly what this is, Ross.
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: Tell the story real quick before we start opening.
- 1:07:14Speaker 5: It's not.
- 1:07:14Speaker 4: Quite exactly what this is, because if the company is listening,
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: fund delivered, this is not what they advertise. Because on
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: all packages, well, they're all blacked out, so you can't
- 1:07:26Speaker 4: see whose mail this was. Unless you don't black out
- 1:07:32Speaker 4: it completely, like maybe some of these packages aren't completely
- 1:07:35Speaker 4: blacked out. So I looked up one of the names
- 1:07:39Speaker 4: on the packages with his address.
- 1:07:42Speaker 5: Yikes.
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: That's an option that I took. And yeah, he's in St.
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: Pete and was arrested in 2019. Oh, he's in prison.
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: He might still be in prison. So this is probably his...
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: It's return mail. So if something got delivered to his
- 1:07:59Speaker 4: house and he wasn't there to receive it, eventually it
- 1:08:01Speaker 4: would come back, would it not? Yeah, one of the
- 1:08:03Speaker 4: packages I have says refuse.
- 1:08:06Speaker 5: Oh, really?
- 1:08:06Speaker 4: So they said, we don't want it, take it back.
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: I've got one that I can read the address on
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: it a little bit, but I didn't open it up
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: or do any of that stuff. This came from Fun Delivered.
- 1:08:16Speaker 4: This one, yeah. Fun Delivered. And they had 16 power. Actually,
- 1:08:19Speaker 4: it had 18 little packages in there. We have two
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: out here. Yeah, this was the smallest box for $ 95.
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: They had one for like $ 250. That was out of stock. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:28Speaker 8: But they had that as a game with dice where
- 1:08:30Speaker 8: you would roll it and then, okay, draw two or whatever,
- 1:08:33Speaker 8: you know, so you could turn it into a game.
- 1:08:35Speaker 4: But we can just.
- 1:08:36Speaker 8: kind of each open it up, and then I don't
- 1:08:38Speaker 8: know if you want to do a white elephant thing
- 1:08:40Speaker 8: or what.
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know, but it's funny because people are
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: saying the white elephant thing for Christmas. Like, this is
- 1:08:44Speaker 4: perfect for that because if you don't even know what
- 1:08:47Speaker 4: it is, little tchotchke kind of things, it could be fun,
- 1:08:49Speaker 4: and that's what we have here. Now, let's kind of
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: do something real quick, all right? So we have two
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: packages in the middle of the table that didn't get
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: chosen because we had 18 total packages. Ross has four,
- 1:08:59Speaker 4: Joe four, myself four, and Deb has four. So I
- 1:09:03Speaker 4: tell you what, let's open them, and at the end
- 1:09:05Speaker 4: of our packages, we'll open those up, and we can
- 1:09:08Speaker 4: kind of figure out if we want to trade with
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: the middle, maybe? I don't know.
- 1:09:10Speaker 13: Maybe not.
- 1:09:11Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's an idea. All right, you
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: want me to go first with this one right here?
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: Sure.
- 1:09:14Speaker 4: Is that what we're doing? We'll trade for the middle?
- 1:09:17Speaker 5: All right.
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: You already have yours opened up?
- 1:09:19Speaker 18: No.
- 1:09:19Speaker 4: All right. Well, yeah, I just... You opened them, like,
- 1:09:21Speaker 4: with a... With a knife, so you can have the scissors, yeah.
- 1:09:24Speaker 4: All right, my first package is from a place called Spotminders.
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: I don't know what Spotminders does.
- 1:09:30Speaker 15: This is insane.
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: All right, I have a.
- 1:09:35Speaker 4: A SpotMinders Tracking Card Pro. Ooh, what is that for?
- 1:09:40Speaker 4: So it says, find my Apple.
- 1:09:42Speaker 12: Oh, perfect.
- 1:09:42Speaker 4: Oh, it's like an AirTag thing. Oh, this is perfect
- 1:09:45Speaker 4: for you.
- 1:09:46Speaker 13: Spotminder?
- 1:09:46Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, dude, look at it. It's like a little
- 1:09:47Speaker 4: credit card with a chip in there, and I guess
- 1:09:49Speaker 4: you register the chip, and it finds... Oh, wow, this
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: is actually... Oh, yeah, dude. It's a tracking card. It
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: is a tracking card. That's exactly what it is. So
- 1:10:00Speaker 4: it's basically a credit card that you track that you
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: can slip into a wallet. Yeah, dude. It is retailing for...
- 1:10:07Speaker 4: It says Apple Find My... $ 40. No way. That is $ 39.
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: Hell yeah, dude. Check you out.
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: Debra, do you need the scissors?
- 1:10:18Speaker 9: No, I have a Flow Lab. It looks like a
- 1:10:21Speaker 9: protective cover for a phone.
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: Nice. What phone is it?
- 1:10:24Speaker 10: Let's check it out.
- 1:10:26Speaker 4: It should say on a little sticker up there. Don't
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: tear the box. You won't be able to return it.
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: Is it a 15?
- 1:10:35Speaker 9: World's most advanced screen protector through precision manufacturing.
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: It doesn't really say. So maybe it's just one of
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: those you put on the screen itself.
- 1:10:41Speaker 10: Anti-rainbow effect protection.
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: No bubbles.
- 1:10:44Speaker 10: All right.
- 1:10:44Speaker 6: Very good.
- 1:10:45Speaker 5: All right.
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: That might be for 15. What do you say, Jeff?
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: My package says returned.
- 1:10:51Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:10:51Speaker 8: And so I opened it up, and there's four boxes
- 1:10:55Speaker 8: in it. They're all the same thing.
- 1:10:56Speaker 4: Yuri. Y-U-R-I. Korean Beauty. Collagen Night Wrapping Mask. Nice. I'll
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: take that. Wow, look at that, dude. Wow. Is it
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: four of the same thing? Your face is never going
- 1:11:16Speaker 4: to be more supple, Jack.
- 1:11:17Speaker 5: It is.
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: Look at that. Supple face, Bradshaw. I really feel like
- 1:11:21Speaker 4: we're breaking the law.
- 1:11:22Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: This feels bad. How much is that stuff worth, I wonder? Yeah, Ross.
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: Because this is all just other people's packages that either
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: they were thrown into prison or what I think is
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: that they passed. So, enough with that already. There is
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: some level of Korean and or Japanese handwritten on the side. Yeah,
- 1:11:41Speaker 4: the Jackals is Korean as well. By the way, dude,
- 1:11:45Speaker 4: how much do you think that stuff is worth right there?
- 1:11:47Speaker 4: The Yuri? Yeah, if you buy two, you get two free,
- 1:11:51Speaker 4: and you have four boxes. That's exactly what happened. That's $ 70.
- 1:11:53Speaker 4: That's $ 70 worth of face cream. So we're two packages
- 1:11:59Speaker 4: in and we already broke the $ 90 cost to get
- 1:12:03Speaker 4: all these random people's stuff. What'd you get, Ross? This
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: is what's going to be an anniversary gift for my wife.
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: Korean handwritten language thing on the side. Well, this is insane.
- 1:12:13Speaker 4: It is from Trans B. And it is a dual
- 1:12:19Speaker 4: mic translator. It is a necklace that you wear that
- 1:12:25Speaker 4: translates your language. No way! That is what I am getting. Yeah,
- 1:12:31Speaker 4: is it trans-A-B or trans-B? Trans-B, spelled like the bug.
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: That is wireless simultaneous interpretation, clear sound quality, language without limits,
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: says the box. It is from Guangdong, China, baby. Don't
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: say Guangdong.
- 1:12:52Speaker 16: Oh, wow.
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: This thing. How much do you think that? Oh, my Jesus.
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: I think this is going to cost a lot. How
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: much do you think that's worth? Buck 10?
- 1:12:59Speaker 5: More.
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: $ 168 is how much that would cost you. We're stealing stuff, right?
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: Is this legal?
- 1:13:10Speaker 5: $ 168.
- 1:13:10Speaker 8: I'm looking at the same one he has. It's $ 150
- 1:13:13Speaker 8: right now on Amazon. Okay, very good.
- 1:13:15Speaker 5: I'm going in.
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: Are you joshing?
- 1:13:18Speaker 10: I have some every jewels, like some little gold rings.
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: Oh, do you really? Let me see. Oh, okay. Some jewelry.
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: I got two boxes here. I don't know what's in this.
- 1:13:28Speaker 5: Let's see.
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: This package has two boxes in it. Are you kidding, dude?
- 1:13:33Speaker 4: You ready for this? Look up snoring device. You got
- 1:13:39Speaker 4: the right person. A smart anti-snoring device made in China.
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: It's called the ZHQ-017 snoring device. Again on that? I
- 1:13:52Speaker 4: got it. Hold on, ZHQ-017 snoring device. How much is
- 1:13:57Speaker 4: that worth? I'm seeing it $ 20 on eBay. I'm seeing
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: it $ 60 on Winky Star. Oh, Winky Star. I got
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: two of them. All right, so $ 40. Yeah, there you go.
- 1:14:08Speaker 9: Okay, I just opened up a handheld pocket camera.
- 1:14:11Speaker 4: Are you kidding? Damn, dude.
- 1:14:16Speaker 10: And a Ridge Power Bank.
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: Damn.
- 1:14:20Speaker 5: Wow. Damn.
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: A power bank is good.
- 1:14:23Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: What'd you get there, Jackson? Let me see the other one.
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: Let me see the camera thing. I got a petite
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: little thing.
- 1:14:38Speaker 12: Okay.
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: We knew that. We talked to your wife.
- 1:14:42Speaker 5: U.S.
- 1:14:43Speaker 4: Size four. Okay.
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: No, you guys.
- 1:14:45Speaker 8: This is a petite beige super soft asymmetric top.
- 1:14:49Speaker 4: Beige oh you have a oh say it's a top
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: oh yeah jack that's gonna look really good on you
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: dude you got women's clothing right.
- 1:14:55Speaker 9: By the way the power bank missing No!
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: Open the box. Nothing there. They stole it. What a...
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: Let's return it. Your camera's here, though. Okay, good. I'll
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: take that. Dude, this is kind of cool. It's like
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: a little gimbal camera.
- 1:15:13Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: I've seen that before. That's going to be a couple...
- 1:15:16Speaker 4: What brand is that? Handheld. Handheld. Oh, I'm not going
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: to look up handheld camera. All right, so... That's not
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: how you Google. He's smart. My next prize, my next gift,
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: is a little knick-knack that you would get at Bed
- 1:15:29Speaker 4: Bath & Beyond, and it says she in one word,
- 1:15:33Speaker 4: really big, and then next to the word she, it
- 1:15:36Speaker 4: says is confident, is strong, is motivated, is blessed, is happy,
- 1:15:41Speaker 4: is beautiful, is enough, is me.
- 1:15:45Speaker 5: Nice.
- 1:15:46Speaker 4: Now I feel like a strong, independent teenager girl. By
- 1:15:48Speaker 4: the way, your camera is $ 75.
- 1:15:50Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:15:51Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, $ 75. Jackie, you got another one there or no? Yeah,
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: I just opened one. I got two packages, the double
- 1:15:58Speaker 4: whammy and this one. Okay, go ahead. Let's take it.
- 1:16:01Speaker 4: By the way, if you're just tuning in, we're opening
- 1:16:05Speaker 4: up a mystery box that Jack ordered online. Because we
- 1:16:08Speaker 4: did a story about this last week about how fun
- 1:16:10Speaker 4: these things are. So Jack bought one. 18 packages inside this.
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: What'd you get? Oh, no, a Jeffrey toy. That's a
- 1:16:16Speaker 4: Jeffrey toy. But it's got suction cups where the hooves
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: would be.
- 1:16:20Speaker 9: And that just comes along with the news that Oviedo,
- 1:16:23Speaker 9: our Toys R Us, is now opening in the Oviedo Mall.
- 1:16:26Speaker 4: Is it really? Wow, okay.
- 1:16:27Speaker 10: And this is my final one.
- 1:16:29Speaker 4: All right, what'd you get?
- 1:16:30Speaker 9: A Bluetooth Nautica portable wireless speaker.
- 1:16:33Speaker 4: Damn, dude! Oh, I need one of those. Dude, I got...
- 1:16:39Speaker 4: Hold on one second, hold on one second, hold on
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: one second. I hear something buzzing in the background. Oh, no,
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: that is... Oh, God! It's charged! I opened it up
- 1:16:47Speaker 4: and it's on! That is a great thing. What is it, dude?
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: It's a tool. I don't know, dude. You know how
- 1:16:52Speaker 4: you used to buy cans of air? They make them
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: where you charge them now, and it's an air gun.
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: It's a mini air gun. Wow, that's cool. Let me
- 1:17:01Speaker 4: see that Nautica thing. Let me see what the box
- 1:17:02Speaker 4: looks like so I can... I can't turn it off, Jim.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: $ 44.
- 1:17:06Speaker 7: 99.
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: Yeah, very good. Jim, how do I turn it off?
- 1:17:08Speaker 4: I don't know. Dude, this is definitely dead people stuff.
- 1:17:13Speaker 4: What's this? All right. Bandu. Comfy, safe, and fun. What
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: is that? Don't know. Bandu. Bandu is a brand, isn't it?
- 1:17:21Speaker 4: Kids headphones. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's cool.
- 1:17:24Speaker 5: Shark.
- 1:17:24Speaker 4: Kids shark headphones.
- 1:17:26Speaker 8: I think Miles is going to get that one.
- 1:17:29Speaker 4: I got a Nyko. Yeah, NYKO Speaker, SpeakerCom. In other words,
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: it's a microphone chat attachment. So I guess what you
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: do is you Bluetooth into it so you can have
- 1:17:42Speaker 4: conference calls with your phone, I guess.
- 1:17:44Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:17:44Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:17:46Speaker 10: I should get one of the spare packages since one
- 1:17:48Speaker 10: of mine was empty.
- 1:17:49Speaker 4: Yeah, you should. I'm going to throw this out here.
- 1:17:52Speaker 4: This is a big moment. And I think it might
- 1:17:54Speaker 4: be the most expensive thing that we've opened up is
- 1:17:57Speaker 4: this last package that's in my hand. When I went
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: to go open it up, I realized on the outside
- 1:18:03Speaker 4: of the package, this is also the guy from St.
- 1:18:05Speaker 4: Pete who is probably in prison, that I looked up
- 1:18:09Speaker 4: his name, right?
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:18:10Speaker 4: On the front of the package, it says 7MM-CUBAN-SETSTAR1.
- 1:18:22Speaker 5: What is it?
- 1:18:23Speaker 4: So off rip, I haven't looked in yet, but that's
- 1:18:26Speaker 4: going to be some level of necklace or jewelry, a
- 1:18:29Speaker 4: Cuban necklace, Cuban set, seven millimeter Cuban. Okay. That makes
- 1:18:33Speaker 4: me think necklace. I don't know if this is going
- 1:18:36Speaker 4: to be a link or if it's going to be
- 1:18:39Speaker 4: the whole. So you're saying that could be gold. It
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: could be the whole necklace. Oh, dear God. No way, dude.
- 1:18:46Speaker 5: Bro.
- 1:18:47Speaker 4: There's no way. Look at your camera.
- 1:18:49Speaker 11: All right.
- 1:18:50Speaker 4: That's a full necklace. And it is not just a necklace.
- 1:18:56Speaker 4: It is multiple. I am being dead ass serious. Is
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: that gold? It's not gold, but it looks... Silver? Like silver?
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: It looks like silver. It looks like silver, dude. Did
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: you take it out of the bag? Dude, I think
- 1:19:09Speaker 4: I got a prison inmate. Prison necklace. You got prison jewelry, dude. Yeah,
- 1:19:13Speaker 4: mine are all unwrapped. I don't know.
- 1:19:16Speaker 8: I may hit top you, but I think this might
- 1:19:18Speaker 8: have been for Jim. It's a scalp treatment with hair
- 1:19:23Speaker 8: growth oil. Okay, Jack, shut your mouth.
- 1:19:25Speaker 4: What are the chances? Hair growth oil, shampoo, conditioner, leave-in treatment.
- 1:19:30Speaker 10: Oh, you weren't kidding.
- 1:19:32Speaker 5: No.
- 1:19:32Speaker 4: Dude, I cannot believe I got a prison inmate's neck.
- 1:19:35Speaker 4: Scalp treatment. What you looking for, Jimmy? The scissors. Oh.
- 1:19:39Speaker 4: It's hair growth oil.
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: Oh, dog.
- 1:19:42Speaker 4: Dude, I'm wearing it. This is mine. Don't do it, dude.
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: But I think it's for our Nubian princesses. Hey, what if,
- 1:19:48Speaker 4: what if the prisoner put his bad juju on that?
- 1:19:51Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:19:51Speaker 4: And that's how he's doing that? What are you, you
- 1:19:55Speaker 4: just watch Obsession or something? No, no, no. I'm just saying, dude.
- 1:19:59Speaker 4: I'm like shaking right now. Yeah, I've got one more left,
- 1:20:04Speaker 4: but I can't get it open. And it's a soft pack.
- 1:20:06Speaker 4: Did you have the scissors there by any chance? What
- 1:20:09Speaker 4: are you doing? By the way, I went on the
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: website because I was thinking, like, dude, this is going
- 1:20:14Speaker 4: to be so much fun. I got junk. Dude. Jack
- 1:20:20Speaker 4: bought it and he got screwed. Go get another package then.
- 1:20:23Speaker 4: Deb got the other one. I got a Jeffrey suction
- 1:20:26Speaker 4: cup doll. I got this last one here. It's, like, soft.
- 1:20:30Speaker 4: I don't know what it is here.
- 1:20:31Speaker 11: Hold on.
- 1:20:31Speaker 4: Oh, it's double-packed. Yeah, open it. I don't know. Okay,
- 1:20:36Speaker 4: hold on. I love this music, by the way. This
- 1:20:41Speaker 4: looks like jewelry, too, dude. This looks like jewelry, as well.
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: You can wear that prisoner's necklace. Yeah, the prisoner's necklace. Jack,
- 1:20:56Speaker 4: you're going to love this.
- 1:20:57Speaker 8: People are asking where we got it. Fundelivered.com. I have
- 1:21:02Speaker 8: no idea what this is. It says lightness and small.
- 1:21:06Speaker 8: I think it's a light.
- 1:21:08Speaker 4: No, no. It's an eco-friendly ear cap. Comfortable and skin-friendly.
- 1:21:16Speaker 4: Is it a hearing aid? Oh, it's earbuds.
- 1:21:20Speaker 5: Yay!
- 1:21:21Speaker 4: And I got two of them. Jack, you can have one.
- 1:21:24Speaker 4: I feel bad that you didn't get anything good. That's okay.
- 1:21:27Speaker 5: Oh, no, no. Come on now.
- 1:21:28Speaker 4: You want the scalp treatment?
- 1:21:29Speaker 5: No, no, no, no.
- 1:21:30Speaker 10: This little acrylic sign that says, I love you, Mom.
- 1:21:32Speaker 4: That's good. There you go.
- 1:21:34Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:21:35Speaker 4: Jack, get another one here. Come here. Isn't it like
- 1:21:38Speaker 4: whatever that is? It's like a shirt or something. It's
- 1:21:41Speaker 4: some type of cloth.
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:21:43Speaker 4: We'll take it over during the break and he can
- 1:21:44Speaker 4: figure it out.
- 1:21:45Speaker 5: Dig it.
- 1:21:46Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:21:46Speaker 5: 407-916-1041.
- 1:21:47Speaker 4: We've got to do this again, buddy. You like it?
- 1:21:49Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 1:21:50Speaker 4: We're going to do this in about another six weeks.
- 1:21:51Speaker 4: I can't get over this. Do you know what we
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: should do? Ross is flexing that necklace.
- 1:21:54Speaker 5: Look at that.
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: Oh, look at that, dude. I just came out clean.
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: All you need is a limp biscuit hat. Or how
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: about a matching bracelet?
- 1:22:03Speaker 5: Oh, man.
- 1:22:04Speaker 4: Because I got that, too. All right.
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: 407-916-1041.
- 1:22:06Speaker 4: Text us 77031. Back in a sec. We have same
- 1:22:07Speaker 4: wrist sizes. JCS crew.
- 1:22:24Speaker 14: I don't know who stumbled on this idea, but it
- 1:22:26Speaker 14: is golden, and you've got to make this.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: A best of.
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: Paul, for more of these, peace out.
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: Have a blessed show. That is hysterically funny, and I
- 1:22:35Speaker 4: hope you do it.
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: You know, once a week.
- 1:22:38Speaker 4: Once a week. And hysterical. Have a blessed day.
- 1:22:44Speaker 16: See you.
- 1:22:44Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 1:22:48Speaker 4: Listen, here's the thing. I've had way worse experiences for $ 89.
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: I mean, way worse experiences for $ 89. That was actually
- 1:23:00Speaker 4: kind of fun. And I'm virtually certain every single piece
- 1:23:03Speaker 4: of this is tracking us for the Chinese government. There's
- 1:23:06Speaker 4: no question. Everything I got, I was looking at it
- 1:23:09Speaker 4: during the break. There's one thing. You open it up.
- 1:23:11Speaker 4: It's brand new, sealed in the pack. And it has
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: this really rudimentary sticker on it. On the top of it,
- 1:23:16Speaker 4: it doesn't even fit the product real well. Like they
- 1:23:18Speaker 4: just pushed it in there just to put something in
- 1:23:19Speaker 4: a box and send it out. Like this thing has diodes.
- 1:23:22Speaker 4: You're supposed to like, not diodes, but like when you
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: get an EKG, those things, they stick on your body.
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: Like this thing comes with a bunch of those.
- 1:23:31Speaker 18: Oh, no.
- 1:23:31Speaker 4: And I'm supposed to apply this thing to me and
- 1:23:34Speaker 4: turn it on. And it's supposed to send some signal
- 1:23:36Speaker 4: to stop me from snoring. Oh, okay.
- 1:23:38Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sure.
- 1:23:40Speaker 4: Or change my eye color or whatever.
- 1:23:41Speaker 5: All right.
- 1:23:42Speaker 4: Welcome back to the Jim Colbert Show. Real Radio 104.1.
- 1:23:44Speaker 4: I'm Jim. There's Zeb.
- 1:23:46Speaker 10: Hello.
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: Zach.
- 1:23:47Speaker 5: Yep.
- 1:23:48Speaker 4: And Ross. I found out, I'm pretty sure that this
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: is a silver sterling set.
- 1:23:54Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: Sterling silver. I went into the engineer's office. They have
- 1:23:58Speaker 4: a lighted one of those... The super magnifying glass where
- 1:24:02Speaker 4: you work on small stuff.
- 1:24:03Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:24:03Speaker 4: And the light isn't working. I tried to look for
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: a stamp there, but I didn't find it.
- 1:24:07Speaker 10: You know how you can find out if that's real
- 1:24:09Speaker 10: silver or not, Ross?
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: Green. If I turn green.
- 1:24:13Speaker 10: Put it on an ice cube.
- 1:24:16Speaker 5: The wrapper?
- 1:24:17Speaker 10: The silver.
- 1:24:18Speaker 16: Oh, I see.
- 1:24:19Speaker 4: And what does it do? What does it do? It
- 1:24:21Speaker 4: will melt the ice. No way. Really?
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:24:24Speaker 4: Hold up. How's that?
- 1:24:26Speaker 9: It's something to do with the- Let's see. Real silver
- 1:24:31Speaker 9: test on ice.
- 1:24:34Speaker 4: You like, it'll melt it immediately.
- 1:24:36Speaker 9: Like it's one way to find out how do you
- 1:24:38Speaker 9: test silver with ice? The silver ice test checks if
- 1:24:41Speaker 9: an item is real silver by placing an ice cube
- 1:24:44Speaker 9: on it to see how fast the ice melts or sticks.
- 1:24:47Speaker 5: Really?
- 1:24:48Speaker 10: It doesn't melt or stick. Then it's silver plated.
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: Oh, wow.
- 1:24:53Speaker 9: You can go get an ice cube from the, from
- 1:24:55Speaker 9: the kitchen and find out it's as thermal conductivity. That's,
- 1:24:59Speaker 9: Silver conducts heat better than almost any other common metal,
- 1:25:02Speaker 9: so if it melts the ice cube, it's real silver.
- 1:25:04Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:25:05Speaker 4: I think I'm getting away with the necklace here, guys.
- 1:25:08Speaker 17: I know.
- 1:25:08Speaker 10: Somebody texted and said that makes you the prisoner's bitch.
- 1:25:11Speaker 4: That's fine. He's still in prison. You don't know that.
- 1:25:15Speaker 5: I don't.
- 1:25:15Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:25:16Speaker 8: I got to tell you, dude, I don't mind the necklace,
- 1:25:18Speaker 8: but the bracelet is too much. That is not you.
- 1:25:22Speaker 8: The bracelet is not you.
- 1:25:23Speaker 4: With the pinky ring? Yeah, that's a Cuban-style-like bracelet. It
- 1:25:26Speaker 4: is not working for you, dude. Say hello to my
- 1:25:30Speaker 4: little friend. And by the way, Jack, there was one
- 1:25:33Speaker 4: leftover prize at the end. I brought it in, Jack,
- 1:25:35Speaker 4: during the break. What was it, buddy? I think it's
- 1:25:38Speaker 4: a nightgown. It's a moo-moo. It's a female. It's a ladies' nightshirt. Ladies' nightshirt.
- 1:25:43Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:25:45Speaker 4: What am I going to do with this hair growth oil?
- 1:25:47Speaker 4: I don't know, but you want to trade it for something?
- 1:25:48Speaker 4: I've got two of these snoring devices, or I have
- 1:25:51Speaker 4: this speaker thing. You're not getting my tracking card because
- 1:25:56Speaker 4: I'm going to use that on my wife. She doesn't
- 1:25:57Speaker 4: know yet. I would actually like to gift this to you.
- 1:26:01Speaker 4: I'd like to give you the hair growth oil. Here's
- 1:26:03Speaker 4: the problem. I don't mind trying the hair growth oil.
- 1:26:06Speaker 4: I just don't want it to grow it in one
- 1:26:08Speaker 4: spot or that's all I want it to do. I
- 1:26:10Speaker 4: want to pick a spot right out here and I
- 1:26:12Speaker 4: would just hair oil the hair out of it. So
- 1:26:14Speaker 4: I get like a unicorn hair. Here's the deal. I'm
- 1:26:18Speaker 4: not sure if it works on Caucasian hair. Oh, really?
- 1:26:21Speaker 4: Is that what it's meant for?
- 1:26:22Speaker 8: The postcard that has it has three Nubian princesses on it.
- 1:26:27Speaker 4: You can be the fourth Nubian. Jack's bummed out he
- 1:26:31Speaker 4: didn't get anything good.
- 1:26:33Speaker 5: There it is. Very nice.
- 1:26:34Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Make your soul glow, baby. If you
- 1:26:36Speaker 4: guys want any of my stuff, please take it. Well,
- 1:26:39Speaker 4: give me the necklace. Yeah, same here.
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: Yeah, here.
- 1:26:40Speaker 5: No, no.
- 1:26:41Speaker 4: You don't want to give that to me? No, I mean.
- 1:26:43Speaker 4: Straight to the pawn shop with that thing. I don't
- 1:26:45Speaker 4: know if it's going to even be pawn worthy. Straight
- 1:26:48Speaker 4: to the shop with it. Well, yeah.
- 1:26:49Speaker 8: I want to give Miles the lead paint coated giraffe.
- 1:26:54Speaker 4: And by the way, we had this up on our
- 1:26:56Speaker 4: question of the day. Like, would you buy this for $ 89?
- 1:26:57Speaker 4: Let me just go around. Do you think it was
- 1:26:59Speaker 4: worth $ 89 to do this? Do you think it was fun?
- 1:27:02Speaker 4: I think the fun factor, yes. But you're not really.
- 1:27:06Speaker 4: I don't think it's an investment. No, it's definitely not
- 1:27:08Speaker 4: an investment. I think this is probably what you're going
- 1:27:11Speaker 4: to see every single time is stuff like this. But,
- 1:27:14Speaker 4: I mean, I think you scored the most, Deb. Do
- 1:27:17Speaker 4: you believe?
- 1:27:18Speaker 10: Oh, I think Ross did.
- 1:27:20Speaker 4: Yeah. Dude, I got some drug dealer's necklace. What is that, dude?
- 1:27:24Speaker 8: This is a kid's... It's a... Oh, look at that.
- 1:27:28Speaker 8: It's comfy, safe, and fun. But it's little headphones. I
- 1:27:31Speaker 8: guess it's Bluetooth headphones in the side.
- 1:27:34Speaker 4: Oh, you have to put that on. It has speakers. Dude,
- 1:27:36Speaker 4: that's pretty badass. And it's a little shark thing. I
- 1:27:39Speaker 4: don't want to stretch it out.
- 1:27:40Speaker 10: We should give it to Jimmy since he doesn't have earbuds.
- 1:27:42Speaker 4: Hey, yeah, give it here. I'll wear the baby shark hat.
- 1:27:44Speaker 4: And I'll do it during trivia.
- 1:27:46Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:27:47Speaker 4: Where did the baby shark thing during trivia? Breaking news,
- 1:27:49Speaker 4: the lead-coated giraffe lights up. Oh, does it really?
- 1:27:53Speaker 12: Yep.
- 1:27:54Speaker 4: Don't know how. Yeah, and my snoring device is pre-charged,
- 1:27:57Speaker 4: but I am horrified to even put that thing near
- 1:27:59Speaker 4: my body. I don't know what it does. Because there's
- 1:28:01Speaker 4: no name for this stuff. It's just like snoring device.
- 1:28:04Speaker 4: That's all it says. Snoring device. I kind of want
- 1:28:07Speaker 4: to do this.
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: I mean.
- 1:28:09Speaker 4: The translation thing. And I also love this little positive
- 1:28:12Speaker 4: message that says, I'm a strong, confident, motivated woman. Do
- 1:28:17Speaker 4: you believe if you buy a bigger one that you
- 1:28:19Speaker 4: have a better chance of getting something better? Yeah. Do
- 1:28:22Speaker 4: you think that's what it is?
- 1:28:22Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:28:23Speaker 4: Or do you think it's just more of this stuff?
- 1:28:25Speaker 4: I think that's the trap. Or do you think it's
- 1:28:27Speaker 4: just more of this kind of thing? It might be
- 1:28:28Speaker 4: some larger items.
- 1:28:29Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:28:30Speaker 4: It's a numbers game. More, higher chance.
- 1:28:34Speaker 5: How much is this?
- 1:28:34Speaker 4: The big one's like $ 250, though, right?
- 1:28:37Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:28:37Speaker 4: That's too much, man.
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: Hello, hello, hello.
- 1:28:40Speaker 4: This is kind of like adults ripping packs.
- 1:28:44Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:28:45Speaker 4: It is like ripping baseball card packs.
- 1:28:47Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:28:48Speaker 4: You just don't know what you're going to get. It's
- 1:28:50Speaker 4: kind of fun, though. I like doing this. The one
- 1:28:52Speaker 4: thing they need to change, though, is I should not
- 1:28:54Speaker 4: be able to look up the person. Who's past age.
- 1:28:58Speaker 4: I don't think you're supposed to. Hey, did you get
- 1:29:00Speaker 4: the translator or did I get the translator? I have
- 1:29:03Speaker 4: the translator. Do you want it? No, no, no. I'm
- 1:29:04Speaker 4: just saying. How many did you get? I got one.
- 1:29:06Speaker 4: You got one translator? That's a good thing, dude, by
- 1:29:08Speaker 4: the way. I mean, but your phone does everything it does, right?
- 1:29:11Speaker 4: Kind of.
- 1:29:11Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:29:12Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: It's a Transbee T1 dual mic translator. It's a portable
- 1:29:17Speaker 4: two-way voice translation device designed for clear communication in noisy environments.
- 1:29:23Speaker 4: I like the fan, though. The fan is cool, too.
- 1:29:25Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:29:26Speaker 16: Very good.
- 1:29:27Speaker 4: That was fun. I got a bunch of baby stuff
- 1:29:30Speaker 4: for Miles. Oh, did you really?
- 1:29:31Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: Yeah, don't let him touch anything from China. Really? Yeah,
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: I'm being dead honest. Don't do it.
- 1:29:36Speaker 3: Why?
- 1:29:36Speaker 4: Yeah, dude, just don't. Does he get hungry later? You
- 1:29:41Speaker 4: don't want to. Throw a tail. You don't want to.
- 1:29:43Speaker 4: You don't want to do that.
- 1:29:44Speaker 16: All right, 407-916-1041.
- 1:29:44Speaker 4: Text us at 77031. At least anything with paint. Ooh,
- 1:29:55Speaker 4: a user manual, and it's in English.
- 1:29:58Speaker 13: Is it really?
- 1:29:59Speaker 4: That's a big win. Bandu 3.0 headband headphones. Did you
- 1:30:03Speaker 4: look that up for a price check? I will look
- 1:30:05Speaker 4: that up. No, here, go ahead.
- 1:30:06Speaker 5: I got it.
- 1:30:06Speaker 4: Bandu, B-A-N-D-O-U. O-U. Headphones. Yep. All right. And it comes
- 1:30:16Speaker 4: with that. Oh, how much do you think they are? $ 10.
- 1:30:19Speaker 8: $ 19.
- 1:30:20Speaker 4: $ 30 for that. There you go. And it's the exact
- 1:30:23Speaker 4: one you have in your hand, $ 30. That's a good
- 1:30:25Speaker 4: little prize, dude. Do you have the packaging, the original
- 1:30:28Speaker 4: packaging for it? Yeah, it's all self-contained. It has wires.
- 1:30:32Speaker 4: That's a great gift for somebody for Christmas. That's a
- 1:30:35Speaker 4: legit gift. I wish I knew a kid who would
- 1:30:37Speaker 4: use their little sharks. Yeah, yeah. Miles doesn't like sharks, though, right? Dude,
- 1:30:41Speaker 4: he likes anything.
- 1:30:42Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:30:42Speaker 4: He's a toddler. Will that fit his head?
- 1:30:45Speaker 5: No.
- 1:30:46Speaker 4: No, yeah, yeah. He's got a noggin, dude. My man's
- 1:30:50Speaker 4: got a dome. It does stretch.
- 1:30:52Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I hope so.
- 1:30:53Speaker 4: Because... Yeah, I'm going to get one of the big
- 1:30:57Speaker 4: ones now. Does, um... Does Miles need some Nubian princess
- 1:31:01Speaker 4: hair growth oil? I think so. I'm fine with him
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: getting his Nubian on. How is it that we don't
- 1:31:06Speaker 4: know any Nubian princes? I mean, we know the princesses,
- 1:31:11Speaker 4: I should say, actually. Is it really only for African-American hair, Jack?
- 1:31:15Speaker 4: It does not say that. Does it? So now I've
- 1:31:18Speaker 4: got questions. Because I'm going to say it. There's not
- 1:31:21Speaker 4: a different hair formula for black people than white people, right?
- 1:31:24Speaker 4: When it comes to like regrowing hair. I don't know
- 1:31:26Speaker 4: about regrowing, but I know that there's a different process,
- 1:31:29Speaker 4: I believe. There's no question there's a different process to
- 1:31:32Speaker 4: taking care of your hair. And Jack, if it doesn't
- 1:31:34Speaker 4: say so, what makes you think that? Like the font?
- 1:31:37Speaker 4: What are you judging? All the pictures of the people
- 1:31:39Speaker 4: on the card. Yeah, yeah. Touché. And the Nubian. Yeah,
- 1:31:43Speaker 4: do they use the word Nubian? No, I just like you. Oh, Jack,
- 1:31:46Speaker 4: you're such a racist. What are you talking about? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:31:49Speaker 4: God Almighty, dude. Is that not okay to say? Yeah,
- 1:31:52Speaker 4: but the packaging is shiny-ass gold. Oh, that didn't even
- 1:31:56Speaker 4: play into it. Did you smell it? Open it up
- 1:31:58Speaker 4: and smell it. See what it smells like. The oil? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:32:01Speaker 5: It's sealed.
- 1:32:01Speaker 4: It's sealed. Okay, well, I'm going to resell it. What
- 1:32:04Speaker 4: are you going to do? You're not going to resell it.
- 1:32:06Speaker 4: You are not going to do that. Don't lie to
- 1:32:07Speaker 4: anybody and say you're going to resell that. There's pre-wash,
- 1:32:10Speaker 4: there's shampoo, there's conditioner. So that's a kit, what you
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: have there. That's a kit. A hair growth kit. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:32:16Speaker 4: Does it say it has like Rogaine or any of
- 1:32:18Speaker 4: the Minoxidil or any of that stuff in there? What's
- 1:32:20Speaker 4: the active ingredient in that? That is a great question.
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: It should be Minoxidil or something like that, right? That's
- 1:32:25Speaker 4: the active ingredient in the hair regrowth stuff? Grape seed oil,
- 1:32:29Speaker 4: hemp seed oil. Rosemary oil. Okay. Peppermint oil. Okay. I
- 1:32:35Speaker 4: think it's a scam. I was going to say, so
- 1:32:37Speaker 4: far it sounds like a cake seasoning. It does not smell.
- 1:32:41Speaker 8: Narshes hair follicles at the scalp to stimulate healthy hair growth.
- 1:32:46Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:32:46Speaker 8: Relieve dry scalp and soothe scalp irritation.
- 1:32:51Speaker 5: All right.
- 1:32:52Speaker 4: Use one to two times daily. Damn, really? On bald
- 1:32:55Speaker 4: and thin areas. God, I bet they want you to
- 1:32:57Speaker 4: use it two times. Did we find out how much
- 1:32:58Speaker 4: that is?
- 1:33:00Speaker 18: Oh, no.
- 1:33:00Speaker 4: What's the company, by the way? What's that company? Bask
- 1:33:04Speaker 4: and Lather. So does anybody else kind of get goosebumps
- 1:33:09Speaker 4: over whose stuff this is? I wonder who these people are. Yeah,
- 1:33:14Speaker 4: I don't really think about that at all.
- 1:33:16Speaker 10: I'm more thinking, where the hell am I going to
- 1:33:18Speaker 10: keep all this crap?
- 1:33:20Speaker 4: You know where you're going to keep it. A trash
- 1:33:22Speaker 4: can city.
- 1:33:23Speaker 5: Oh, no.
- 1:33:23Speaker 9: No?
- 1:33:23Speaker 4: No, I'm not going to throw. No. I'll donate it first.
- 1:33:27Speaker 8: On the Baskin-Lather scalp restoring or scalp treatment.
- 1:33:31Speaker 4: Yeah, there's a scalp stimulator.
- 1:33:35Speaker 3: By the way.
- 1:33:35Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what we have.
- 1:33:38Speaker 8: This scalp stimulator is what I have in the jar,
- 1:33:40Speaker 8: and then there's four packets.
- 1:33:42Speaker 4: Yeah, but you also have a hair. How many bottles
- 1:33:45Speaker 4: is there? There's just one bottle and then four packets
- 1:33:48Speaker 4: of pre-shampoo conditioner to leave in treatment and shampoo. Okay,
- 1:33:51Speaker 4: that bundle is, well, that thing is $ 20 for what
- 1:33:55Speaker 4: you have in your hand. I think the bundle is, God, dog, dude,
- 1:33:58Speaker 4: this stuff is expensive, by the way. They have one
- 1:34:00Speaker 4: of these things that's like $ 175. People want hair. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:34:05Speaker 4: I don't want it. Why? Pain in the ass. Got
- 1:34:09Speaker 4: to wash it.
- 1:34:10Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
- 1:34:11Speaker 4: Comb it.
- 1:34:12Speaker 13: Mm-hmm.
- 1:34:12Speaker 4: Products. I think that's $ 40, which I have there. I
- 1:34:14Speaker 4: think we got our money's worth, though. Do you agree?
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:34:17Speaker 4: By a lot. I'm holding something. We beat the $ 90
- 1:34:20Speaker 4: cost off of two openings. And then when you put
- 1:34:23Speaker 4: a monetary value on the fund involved, I mean, that's
- 1:34:26Speaker 4: worth $ 20 of it right there, just opening it up, right?
- 1:34:29Speaker 4: Now we're approaching four radio segments. Yeah. That right there.
- 1:34:35Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sure.
- 1:34:36Speaker 4: All right, 407-916-1041. You can always text us at 77031.
- 1:34:40Speaker 4: Take a little break. We'll come back with new trivia.
- 1:34:43Speaker 4: We'll do that next.
- 1:34:48Speaker 5: Man, this economy is really, really getting bad. R.C. Hill
- 1:34:53Speaker 5: used to only charge a nickel for a down payment.
- 1:34:57Speaker 5: Now it's a dime.
- 1:34:59Speaker 7: Man.
- 1:34:59Speaker 5: That's 100% inflation, folks.
- 1:35:03Speaker 4: That's very funny, buddy. All right, welcome back to the

- 1:37:03Speaker 8: includes all three scare trails. Petrified Forest opens October 2nd
- 1:37:08Speaker 8: and runs select nights through October 31st. If you want
- 1:37:11Speaker 8: details on those nights or just to get your tickets
- 1:37:14Speaker 8: for yourself, go to apetrifiedforest.com. That's A first, apetrifiedforest.com. That's
- 1:37:22Speaker 8: what's in the Jackie sack.
- 1:37:23Speaker 10: So back to you, a clickety-clack.
- 1:37:25Speaker 4: Yes, ma'am. One, two, three, four, or five. Let's go four.
- 1:37:27Speaker 4: Four sounds good. That is Mike. Mike, how you doing?
- 1:37:31Speaker 4: I'm doing great. Love to hear that, buddy. Want to
- 1:37:33Speaker 4: play a little game with us?
- 1:37:35Speaker 5: Yes, sir.
- 1:37:35Speaker 4: All right, let's do it then.
- 1:37:37Speaker 3: Game show.
- 1:37:40Speaker 10: No, we're not.
- 1:37:41Speaker 4: All right, Mike, this is a real easy game. Boss
- 1:37:43Speaker 4: got a question here for you. Four answers. One of
- 1:37:45Speaker 4: these answers is not true.
- 1:37:47Speaker 16: What?
- 1:37:48Speaker 4: Trying to fool you, buddy, but if you can find it,
- 1:37:49Speaker 4: I'll send you over to see Jack, and you can
- 1:37:51Speaker 4: dive around in a sec.
- 1:37:53Speaker 3: Oh, nice.
- 1:37:54Speaker 4: Are you ready?
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:37:56Speaker 4: All right, buddy.
- 1:37:57Speaker 9: Here we go.
- 1:37:57Speaker 4: On this day in 1997. Hooters restaurants agreed to pay
- 1:38:02Speaker 4: $ 2 million in discrimination lawsuits. Do you remember those guys
- 1:38:06Speaker 4: sued Hooters? Oh, that's right. Because they couldn't work at
- 1:38:09Speaker 4: a Hooters and they sued and won $ 2 million. Here
- 1:38:12Speaker 4: are three fun facts about Hooters restaurants and one lie
- 1:38:15Speaker 4: in orange shorts. All right, buddy, we're talking about Hooters.
- 1:38:18Speaker 4: Which one of these is not true? Number one, as
- 1:38:21Speaker 4: a Hooters girl, you can never wear your hair up.
- 1:38:25Speaker 4: Number two, the annual Hooters calendar sells 500,000 copies per year.
- 1:38:31Speaker 4: Number three, the original Hooters menu only included chicken wings, fries, hamburgers,
- 1:38:36Speaker 4: and hot dogs. Or lastly, Hollywood actress Amy Adams once
- 1:38:41Speaker 4: worked as a Hooters girl. Which of those is a lie?
- 1:38:44Speaker 4: I'm going with That's the one, buddy. You're a winner.
- 1:38:52Speaker 4: Did you think that was the one or are you
- 1:38:53Speaker 4: just taking a shot? No, I've been to Hooters since
- 1:38:57Speaker 4: they opened. Oh, very good. So he's an aficionado. Thank
- 1:39:01Speaker 4: you very much. Which was number three again? That was
- 1:39:03Speaker 4: the original menu. It only had chicken wings, fries, dogs,
- 1:39:06Speaker 4: and burgers. How is it that the most passionate Hooters
- 1:39:10Speaker 4: fan calls up and gets selected? 20% chance he's going
- 1:39:15Speaker 4: to be selected.
- 1:39:16Speaker 5: Right, yeah, yeah.
- 1:39:16Speaker 4: And then can quote the menu. That was so funny.
- 1:39:20Speaker 4: It's not funny. I've been going since day one, Jim. Yeah,
- 1:39:25Speaker 4: as a Hooters girl, you can never wear your hair up.
- 1:39:28Speaker 4: Always has to be down. The annual Hooters calendar, by
- 1:39:32Speaker 4: the way, not only does it sell 500,000 copies a year,
- 1:39:36Speaker 4: what makes it really unique? Donations to a foundation. It's
- 1:39:42Speaker 4: in black and white. It has 11 months. It does
- 1:39:49Speaker 4: have 12 months, but they're out of order, so it
- 1:39:51Speaker 4: makes you go through the calendar to find your month
- 1:39:53Speaker 4: instead of just going January, February.
- 1:39:56Speaker 5: It's stupid.
- 1:39:57Speaker 4: It is stupid. I love it, but that's got to
- 1:39:59Speaker 4: be effective, right? Maybe so. I don't know.
- 1:40:01Speaker 10: Like they need to do that.
- 1:40:02Speaker 9: You're buying a Hooters calendar.
- 1:40:05Speaker 4: That's the first thing I thought. Ain't nobody planning dates
- 1:40:07Speaker 4: on that thing. Dude, that's a bank. That's all that is.
- 1:40:10Speaker 4: Can you imagine a really serious politician? Yep, let's see
- 1:40:14Speaker 4: what's on the schedule today. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, no, no.
- 1:40:17Speaker 4: Amy Adams was once a Hooters girl. That tracks a
- 1:40:20Speaker 4: little bit, right?
- 1:40:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:40:23Speaker 4: Why? Why?
- 1:40:24Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:40:24Speaker 4: She just seems like a girl who likes to have
- 1:40:25Speaker 4: a little fun.
- 1:40:26Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:40:27Speaker 5: All right.
- 1:40:28Speaker 4: Hooters can require certain physical aesthetics from their staff because
- 1:40:32Speaker 4: they are... In other words, they can demand their staff
- 1:40:36Speaker 4: stay skinny, be this or whatever. And the reason why
- 1:40:38Speaker 4: is because they list them as performers, not wait staff.
- 1:40:42Speaker 2: Ah.
- 1:40:42Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hooters was sued and fined millions for
- 1:40:46Speaker 4: blasting unwanted advertising to fax machines. Just to show you
- 1:40:50Speaker 4: how 90s Hooters is.
- 1:40:51Speaker 5: Oh, geez.
- 1:40:53Speaker 4: So they weren't bothering calling you. They were just sending
- 1:40:56Speaker 4: you a fax saying, come and get it.
- 1:40:58Speaker 9: No, better yet, they'd just show up to your station
- 1:41:01Speaker 9: with a bunch of free wings.
- 1:41:03Speaker 4: Oh, look at that. They're getting on the air. From
- 1:41:06Speaker 4: 1987 to 1995, Hooters sponsored and hosted a late-night cable
- 1:41:11Speaker 4: movie show called Hooters Night Owl Theater. And I remember that.
- 1:41:17Speaker 4: It was Tracy Lynn, I think her name was, or
- 1:41:19Speaker 4: something Lynn. She was like the big-time Hooters girl, and
- 1:41:22Speaker 4: it was her and another one of the Hooters girls,
- 1:41:24Speaker 4: and they would just introduce movies like Elvira.
- 1:41:27Speaker 5: Oh, wow.
- 1:41:27Speaker 4: Yeah. Hooters has a strict no-cell phone during your shift policy.
- 1:41:32Speaker 4: So if you work there, you cannot use your cell
- 1:41:34Speaker 4: phone during your shift. It has to go into a locker,
- 1:41:36Speaker 4: and it stays there until your shift is over. And
- 1:41:40Speaker 4: then lastly here, this is the funniest one of all.
- 1:41:43Speaker 4: Hooters servers get one free meal every shift. If they
- 1:41:48Speaker 4: take it from the healthy side of the menu. If
- 1:41:51Speaker 4: they order wings, they're half price. But if they order fries,
- 1:41:54Speaker 4: they're full price. Wow. They are entertainers. I'm sure they are.
- 1:42:02Speaker 4: I'll be honest with you. It's... I don't know how
- 1:42:05Speaker 4: to feel about restaurants in general.
- 1:42:07Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:42:07Speaker 4: They feel like they're the way of the dodo, where
- 1:42:10Speaker 4: it seems like there was a time and a place,
- 1:42:12Speaker 4: a decade that they thrived in. Yeah, I don't think
- 1:42:15Speaker 4: that's around anymore.
- 1:42:16Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:42:17Speaker 4: They still exist, but they're not exploding. Dude, I mean,
- 1:42:21Speaker 4: when our show first started on the air, The Monsters,
- 1:42:24Speaker 4: in 93, Hooters was like, I mean.
- 1:42:29Speaker 4: They had their own airline at one point. They had
- 1:42:31Speaker 4: their own casino in Vegas. The airline didn't last long,
- 1:42:34Speaker 4: but the casino lasted like 10 years. I mean, it
- 1:42:37Speaker 4: was a big deal for the longest time. Those girls
- 1:42:39Speaker 4: were like superstars. They were literally like right up there
- 1:42:42Speaker 4: with Playboy models. They were considered like the elite. And
- 1:42:45Speaker 4: those bikini contests would draw tens of thousands of people.
- 1:42:50Speaker 4: Do you remember any of this? I do. And I've
- 1:42:52Speaker 4: got to tell you, their wings are damn good. Twin
- 1:42:54Speaker 4: Peaks was the latest addition to the restaurant, right? Yeah,
- 1:42:57Speaker 4: Twin Peaks, yeah, yeah. And that's been in town for
- 1:43:00Speaker 4: about 10 years, maybe? Well, it's Wing House after Hooters.
- 1:43:03Speaker 4: Wing House took the first shot at the restaurant, and
- 1:43:05Speaker 4: then Wing House sold. I don't even know if there
- 1:43:07Speaker 4: are Wing Houses anymore at all. Wing House was also
- 1:43:09Speaker 4: owned by a former NFL player, a Dallas Cowboy player,
- 1:43:12Speaker 4: I believe. And he was actually a pretty nice guy.
- 1:43:15Speaker 4: Then he sold Wing House for a whole bunch of money.
- 1:43:18Speaker 4: And then they started closing, and then Twin Peaks came
- 1:43:21Speaker 4: along after that. And the majority of time, they always
- 1:43:26Speaker 4: tend to make me feel uncomfortable.
- 1:43:28Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:43:29Speaker 4: I will tell you, the first time I went to
- 1:43:30Speaker 4: the Twin Peaks up in Alton, oddly enough, was during Halloween,
- 1:43:34Speaker 4: because football season was on, and all the girls were
- 1:43:37Speaker 4: dressed up for their favorite stuff, and apparently... Um, somebody
- 1:43:40Speaker 4: in management said, Hey, you know, make this worth your
- 1:43:42Speaker 4: while type thing. And man, it was wild being there
- 1:43:45Speaker 4: as a, you know, 50 plus year old man with
- 1:43:48Speaker 4: three daughters watching 18, 19 year old girls walk around.
- 1:43:51Speaker 4: And basically, I mean, you know, like booty shorts and
- 1:43:56Speaker 4: I mean, everything hanging out and these dudes are losing
- 1:43:58Speaker 4: their mind over them and saying stuff you could never
- 1:44:01Speaker 4: even imagine saying to a stranger. It was crazy. I
- 1:44:04Speaker 4: would think, Deb, I'm so curious about what your opinion
- 1:44:08Speaker 4: is about restaurants in general. They're not for me. Do
- 1:44:13Speaker 4: you think they're exploitative?
- 1:44:16Speaker 9: That's hard to say because no one's forcing them to
- 1:44:18Speaker 9: put the uniform on.
- 1:44:19Speaker 4: They're not. And they are making, I'm guessing they're making
- 1:44:21Speaker 4: pretty good coin.
- 1:44:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:44:22Speaker 4: I know those Hooters girls, the one that we knew
- 1:44:25Speaker 4: back in the day, they would make, you know, anywhere
- 1:44:27Speaker 4: from $ 500 to $ 800 a shift. And yeah. And I mean,
- 1:44:30Speaker 4: you got to remember that's 1996 money. And that's kind
- 1:44:33Speaker 4: of like the paradox and debate right there is that
- 1:44:36Speaker 4: like they probably are, chances are, making good money.
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:44:39Speaker 4: But that can't be the safe, all one-size-fit-all reasoning for
- 1:44:44Speaker 4: why we do everything. No, and they would roll out
- 1:44:47Speaker 4: the Hooters girls that took the Hooters girl money and
- 1:44:51Speaker 4: used it to get a formal education. They would roll
- 1:44:53Speaker 4: those girls back into the program and kind of have
- 1:44:55Speaker 4: them talk about the Hooters program as if it's like
- 1:44:58Speaker 4: a college booster program. I remember that. By the way,
- 1:45:02Speaker 4: do you know who coined the term Hooters? As a
- 1:45:08Speaker 4: double entendre for breasts. Don Rickles. It is a comedian,
- 1:45:12Speaker 4: not Don Rickles. It's a very famous comedian. George Carlin.
- 1:45:16Speaker 4: Steve Martin. Steve Martin is the answer. All right. Yeah,
- 1:45:18Speaker 4: Steve Martin is the answer. He did it during an
- 1:45:21Speaker 4: SNL monologue. He said the word hooters and described girls'
- 1:45:25Speaker 4: boobs as hooters. That was the first known time it
- 1:45:28Speaker 4: was done.
- 1:45:28Speaker 5: Ha!
- 1:45:28Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah. All right, 407-916-1041. Thoughts? Yes, and I'm taking Ross'
- 1:45:34Speaker 4: thoughts literally today because we are going to maybe, I'm
- 1:45:36Speaker 4: going to throw down some beliefs that I have, some
- 1:45:39Speaker 4: concrete little, maybe some new perspectives that I could throw
- 1:45:43Speaker 4: down that might help out people in the future.
- 1:45:46Speaker 5: Very nice.
- 1:45:47Speaker 4: I know, it's kind of like a glass half, Full segment.
- 1:45:49Speaker 4: It's so wild talking to you with that chain on. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:45:52Speaker 4: It looks like it is. It is so wild. I
- 1:45:54Speaker 4: want to ask you what bass you play. I'm trying
- 1:45:56Speaker 4: to sell somebody a $ 60 8. All right. Back in
- 1:45:59Speaker 4: a sec with thoughts.
- 1:46:07Speaker 5: Howdy, folks. Kurt here.
- 1:46:09Speaker 4: About Grady Judd, talking about plot cameras.
- 1:46:11Speaker 6: I think we can all agree, yeah, it's a powerful
- 1:46:13Speaker 6: tool that can be a big help when needed. But
- 1:46:15Speaker 6: like any powerful tool in the hands of humans, it
- 1:46:17Speaker 6: can be misused for evil and has been. And I
- 1:46:21Speaker 6: think the way to fight against that, to make people
- 1:46:23Speaker 6: trust it and be okay with the cameras, get some
- 1:46:25Speaker 6: strong legislation in place that punishes misuse.
- 1:46:28Speaker 4: Makes it a lot less attractive for the bad guys.
- 1:46:30Speaker 3: You know, misusing that junk.
- 1:46:34Speaker 5: Do it up. Gravy Dudes.
- 1:46:36Speaker 4: Welcome back to the Jim Culver Show, Rural Radio 104.1.
- 1:46:39Speaker 4: I am Jim. Deb is right there. Hello. Jayden in
- 1:46:42Speaker 4: with us today. What's up, Jay? Good to see you, buddy.
- 1:46:45Speaker 4: What's going on, partner? Thanks for helping out a little
- 1:46:47Speaker 4: bit today. And then, of course, Ross has some thoughts.
- 1:46:48Speaker 4: Let's do it. I'll send.
- 1:46:52Speaker 5: It.
- 1:46:53Speaker 4: It's weird. I let it breathe there.
- 1:46:55Speaker 13: It's funny.
- 1:46:56Speaker 4: You helped it out. Sometimes. I like it. Here we go. Ross.
- 1:47:02Speaker 4: Today's Ross Thoughts is brought to you by ThatMortgageGuyDon. ThatMortgageGuyDon.com. Listen,
- 1:47:09Speaker 4: if you don't know anything about refi, if you can't
- 1:47:12Speaker 4: tell the difference between refi and sci-fi, well, boy, do
- 1:47:16Speaker 4: I have somebody you need to call. That mortgage guy, Don. Listen, man,
- 1:47:21Speaker 4: get your mortgage with him just to hear him talk
- 1:47:23Speaker 4: to you. He's such a good hang. Yeah, dude's got
- 1:47:25Speaker 4: a good voice. He is a good-ass hang, too. He's
- 1:47:27Speaker 4: a good dude. And if you don't believe us, you
- 1:47:28Speaker 4: can listen to his own show every Saturday morning right
- 1:47:31Speaker 4: here on your favorite radio station, Real Radio 104.5. Yeah,
- 1:47:35Speaker 4: and I want to thank him and MJ for coming
- 1:47:37Speaker 4: out to the gig on Saturday. It was really good
- 1:47:38Speaker 4: seeing those guys.
- 1:47:39Speaker 10: Yeah, it says Pups and Pints.
- 1:47:40Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:47:41Speaker 4: So I really like to take raw thoughts. I don't know.
- 1:47:44Speaker 4: It happens every three, four months, every quarter or third
- 1:47:47Speaker 4: that I just want to take the segment raw thoughts
- 1:47:51Speaker 4: and take it literally, right? I've talked to you about
- 1:47:53Speaker 4: these really weird social interactions that I've had in the past. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:47:57Speaker 4: like the one you had the other day with your
- 1:47:58Speaker 4: wife when the roofer came over. Yeah, and the guy–
- 1:48:00Speaker 4: That was very bizarre. The guy was rocking nut hugger
- 1:48:02Speaker 4: shorts and winking at my wife as she's wearing yoga pants,
- 1:48:06Speaker 4: and I am in dirty pajamas front scratch. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:48:09Speaker 4: Not a good look, JG. Not a good look. And
- 1:48:12Speaker 4: then the next good days, I'm chopping down bamboo, and
- 1:48:15Speaker 4: all of a sudden this bamboo fairy comes from out
- 1:48:18Speaker 4: of nowhere on my six and scares me. and I
- 1:48:20Speaker 4: break her heart. I sell some bamboo. I've just had
- 1:48:22Speaker 4: some really weird human interactions in the past. It hasn't
- 1:48:25Speaker 4: been a weird week for you. But today, we're not
- 1:48:28Speaker 4: looking into the past. We're looking into the future because
- 1:48:32Speaker 4: I am 37 years young, and that's not old. That's
- 1:48:35Speaker 4: not young. It's kind of caught. It's more older than young.
- 1:48:38Speaker 5: Unbelievable.
- 1:48:38Speaker 10: But I have come to.
- 1:48:41Speaker 4: The conclusion of some concrete beliefs that I can confidently
- 1:48:46Speaker 4: say kind of for the first time in my life. Yeah,
- 1:48:49Speaker 4: because I think the older you get, the more comfortable
- 1:48:53Speaker 4: you are with who you are. Sure, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:48:56Speaker 4: And then it's a little uncomfortable in your early 20s
- 1:49:00Speaker 4: when you start to, like, do I feel this way?
- 1:49:02Speaker 4: Do I not? Oh, I've softened quite a bit over
- 1:49:04Speaker 4: my age, for sure. I seem way more aggro as
- 1:49:08Speaker 4: a younger man. Wow.
- 1:49:09Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:49:10Speaker 4: Here are some thoughts that I want you to take
- 1:49:13Speaker 4: as literal as possible. If they come off as advice,
- 1:49:16Speaker 4: I apologize. But these are just some things that I
- 1:49:19Speaker 4: genuinely believe in. All right. All right. First one. I'll
- 1:49:22Speaker 4: even say I'm like a town crier. There shouldn't be
- 1:49:26Speaker 4: a best just in your life. There should also be
- 1:49:31Speaker 4: a favorite along with your best. I don't understand what
- 1:49:35Speaker 4: you mean by that. So many people get caught in
- 1:49:37Speaker 4: the moment of like, oh, this one's better. Oh, this
- 1:49:39Speaker 4: one's better. This one's the best. And I hear you.
- 1:49:43Speaker 4: There are plenty of times where there is a objectively
- 1:49:46Speaker 4: speaking best. But how do you even know that, though,
- 1:49:49Speaker 4: if you haven't experienced all of them? Well, like a race.
- 1:49:51Speaker 4: They're going to have a first person in a place.
- 1:49:53Speaker 4: But this is where I'm getting at. Oh, I see
- 1:49:55Speaker 4: what you're saying. It's that, sure, there is a best
- 1:49:58Speaker 4: in every category somewhere out there. It's not our job
- 1:50:01Speaker 4: to actually find out that truth more times than not.
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: Where I'm going with this is that find your best,
- 1:50:07Speaker 4: that one's the best, and also find out which one
- 1:50:10Speaker 4: is your favorite. So many people get obsessed with the
- 1:50:13Speaker 4: number one spot, but in reality, actually, the number six spot,
- 1:50:18Speaker 4: that book that's in the top ten but just finished sixth,
- 1:50:21Speaker 4: that's the book that speaks to your soul the most. So, like,
- 1:50:26Speaker 4: I guess what I— It's perfectly— you' re making a— you don't need
- 1:50:29Speaker 4: to clarify. You've done a good job. Yeah, I— I mean,
- 1:50:32Speaker 4: I think it's completely understandable. I think that's very relevant. So, like,
- 1:50:35Speaker 4: great example— People do get obsessed with, like, wanting the
- 1:50:37Speaker 4: best of everything. When I went to Halloween Horror Nights
- 1:50:40Speaker 4: and I talked to you guys about all the houses,
- 1:50:42Speaker 4: I said, the best house is Hellraiser. My favorite house
- 1:50:46Speaker 4: is Blood and Guts. Right, right, right. And I really
- 1:50:49Speaker 4: have found so much joy and advantage over a lot
- 1:50:54Speaker 4: of other entities in my life with that train of thought.
- 1:50:57Speaker 4: I love that. So that is a literal Ross thought. Okay, good, good, good.
- 1:51:01Speaker 4: Don't just focus on number one. Find your favorite. Here's
- 1:51:04Speaker 4: another one.
- 1:51:05Speaker 5: I love.
- 1:51:06Speaker 4: doing this show with you guys. I really do. We
- 1:51:10Speaker 4: love doing it with you as well. I do, anyway.
- 1:51:13Speaker 4: There's a but coming. There is no but. I'll tell
- 1:51:17Speaker 4: you exactly why I love doing this show with you guys.
- 1:51:20Speaker 4: Because not only do we argue, sure, over serious things,
- 1:51:24Speaker 4: we have disagreed over very serious things. I think we've
- 1:51:26Speaker 4: all taken turns over the last seven years being... upset
- 1:51:30Speaker 4: or let down from one or another at some point.
- 1:51:34Speaker 4: That's what friendships do. It's not all 10 out of 10.
- 1:51:38Speaker 4: I think that arguing over stuff that doesn't matter gets
- 1:51:43Speaker 4: a bad rep. Oh, you're saying that people that would
- 1:51:48Speaker 4: call an argument petty don't understand that the argument isn't petty.
- 1:51:52Speaker 4: That it's an argument because it means something to at
- 1:51:54Speaker 4: least one part of that argument. Like, I think someone,
- 1:51:58Speaker 4: if you see two people arguing over sports... That makes
- 1:52:02Speaker 4: my heart so happy. And I say sports because sports, yes,
- 1:52:06Speaker 4: it's a bajillion dollar business, but it's not an impact
- 1:52:08Speaker 4: on your day to day. It's not going to determine
- 1:52:10Speaker 4: if you're a good dad or not. Right. Yeah. You know,
- 1:52:13Speaker 4: the things that actually matter. And now I get it.
- 1:52:16Speaker 4: I love sports so much, but I love when people
- 1:52:19Speaker 4: argue over things that don't matter. And I don't like
- 1:52:23Speaker 4: it when people don't. They don't appreciate it. Or they
- 1:52:28Speaker 4: call it not a big deal. What are you arguing about?
- 1:52:30Speaker 4: It's not a big deal. In your food world, this
- 1:52:33Speaker 4: is exactly what I'm talking about. If you love the
- 1:52:36Speaker 4: taste of cucumber and I love the taste of melon,
- 1:52:39Speaker 4: and then you find out your personality and what your
- 1:52:42Speaker 4: preferences are over the things that you're willing to defend
- 1:52:45Speaker 4: amongst a group of friends. Got it, yeah. So the
- 1:52:48Speaker 4: arguments that aren't just left versus right, but literally the
- 1:52:52Speaker 4: subjective stuff Man, there's a lot of beauty in finding
- 1:52:57Speaker 4: out about yourself mid-conversation over, I will defend Melons in
- 1:53:02Speaker 4: this position.
- 1:53:02Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:53:03Speaker 4: And I catch myself doing that a lot on this
- 1:53:05Speaker 4: radio station, which is why I love doing this show
- 1:53:08Speaker 4: with you. I like and agree with that as well.
- 1:53:10Speaker 4: How about this? This one's kind of a hot take.
- 1:53:12Speaker 4: And boy, this took all of my 20s, JG, to
- 1:53:16Speaker 4: really understand on this one.
- 1:53:18Speaker 3: I'm listening.
- 1:53:19Speaker 4: Your best effort can be better. I know that almost
- 1:53:26Speaker 4: sounds like it's.
- 1:53:28Speaker 9: Probably the most dad thing you've ever said.
- 1:53:31Speaker 4: It took me to be a dad to find that
- 1:53:34Speaker 4: last sentence to be true. Your best effort can be better.
- 1:53:39Speaker 4: How is that possible? Because your best effort might not
- 1:53:42Speaker 4: be in the best trajectory. You might be working your
- 1:53:46Speaker 4: ass off at the wrong thing. It's your best effort,
- 1:53:50Speaker 4: but the output isn't matching maybe your effort. Or the
- 1:53:54Speaker 4: job isn't suited for you to really maximize your skill set. Exactly.
- 1:53:58Speaker 4: And so many people go, I'm just trying my best,
- 1:54:01Speaker 4: and it's so defeating. And I would recommend, and it's
- 1:54:05Speaker 4: helped me out so much, is that once I feel
- 1:54:08Speaker 4: those defeating vibes and those feelings, I just try to
- 1:54:12Speaker 4: grab that best effort and move it to any other
- 1:54:15Speaker 4: aspect of my life. And you will be shocked with
- 1:54:19Speaker 4: how good your best effort really is. Agreed.
- 1:54:22Speaker 5: Right?
- 1:54:22Speaker 4: These are great, dude. And this is my last final thought. God,
- 1:54:26Speaker 4: I hope this... Help somebody out there, because these are
- 1:54:29Speaker 4: the thoughts that have really helped me out in my
- 1:54:32Speaker 4: own life and existence. Priorities is the billion dollar word,
- 1:54:39Speaker 4: I think, when it comes to being a human. I
- 1:54:41Speaker 4: can't think of anything more important than what you prioritize.
- 1:54:45Speaker 4: It's it's literally what runs everything. Never forget. I'll never
- 1:54:51Speaker 4: forget when you brought this up years ago on air.
- 1:54:54Speaker 4: You went you went to a left leaning news website.
- 1:54:56Speaker 4: You went to a right leaning news website. And here's
- 1:54:58Speaker 4: the thing. They always tend to actually say the same stuff.
- 1:55:03Speaker 4: but they have different priorities. So the one news story
- 1:55:08Speaker 4: that might not make this one entity look good, we'll
- 1:55:11Speaker 4: put that on the smaller font on the bottom. Find
- 1:55:14Speaker 4: out what your big font thing is in life. Find
- 1:55:18Speaker 4: out what your headline is. Find out what your number
- 1:55:20Speaker 4: one priority is and try your best to block out noise.
- 1:55:24Speaker 4: Right now, I just got a new number one priority.
- 1:55:28Speaker 4: It's my son. And it's weird because previously it was
- 1:55:32Speaker 4: a comedy show or a joke. And having your priorities
- 1:55:37Speaker 4: defined and just pursuing those, man, write them down because
- 1:55:42Speaker 4: it's really easy to go, oh, I got to do
- 1:55:44Speaker 4: this instead. Oh, I got to do this instead. Priorities
- 1:55:48Speaker 4: is that that's the number one right there, man. If
- 1:55:51Speaker 4: you can nail your priorities, if you can wake up
- 1:55:53Speaker 4: and be confident and your awareness in your choice of priorities, damn, dude,
- 1:56:00Speaker 4: that's a pretty good life right there. Yeah, that'll work
- 1:56:03Speaker 4: for you for sure. My bad days are because I've
- 1:56:06Speaker 4: got my priorities flipped, flopped, waved, and wobbled.
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:56:10Speaker 4: And those are your Ross thoughts.
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: I'm out.
- 1:56:14Speaker 4: Peace. All right, buddy. Thanks.
- 1:56:18Speaker 7: 407-916-1041.
- 1:56:18Speaker 4: Text us 77031. My priorities are very, very easy, buddy.
- 1:56:21Speaker 4: It's cocaine and front row seats at the wrestling games.
- 1:56:24Speaker 4: I got you covered. Nothing fake about that. I'll be
- 1:56:26Speaker 4: back in a sec. All right. Welcome back to the
- 1:56:38Speaker 4: Jim Colbert Show. We're already at 104.1.
- 1:56:41Speaker 5: I'm Jim.
- 1:56:41Speaker 4: There's Deb.
- 1:56:42Speaker 3: Hello.
- 1:56:42Speaker 4: Jayden in for a segment or two. And then Ross
- 1:56:47Speaker 4: as well. It's all true. Matter of fact, let's go
- 1:56:50Speaker 4: ahead and do an 8-bit update. What do you say?
- 1:56:53Speaker 3: It's game time on Real Radio. Get ready for the
- 1:56:56Speaker 3: 8-bit update.
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: Your quick hit on gaming news, reviews, and a little
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: chaos as Pop Pop tries gaming.
- 1:57:04Speaker 3: The 8-bit update with Jayden starts now.
- 1:57:07Speaker 4: Guys, good luck for Jayden Grimes.
- 1:57:08Speaker 9: Yay!
- 1:57:09Speaker 16: Yay!
- 1:57:11Speaker 4: My man, that was your trip, by the way.
- 1:57:13Speaker 10: Oh, it was great. Great trip.
- 1:57:15Speaker 19: I got made fun of by Bianchi and Kravitz on
- 1:57:17Speaker 19: my show because I went to Boston for a Boston
- 1:57:19Speaker 19: College football game. I mean, I deserve it, though. They
- 1:57:24Speaker 19: lost by three points or something like that. It was
- 1:57:26Speaker 19: 30 degree weather. It was monsoon rain.
- 1:57:29Speaker 4: But it was fun.
- 1:57:29Speaker 10: It was a great time.
- 1:57:30Speaker 4: Good memories. It was really that cold?
- 1:57:31Speaker 3: Oh, dude.
- 1:57:32Speaker 10: I couldn't feel my hands. I couldn't feel my toes.
- 1:57:34Speaker 10: I'm a Florida boy, man. It was not made for me.
- 1:57:36Speaker 4: Damn, dude. That's crazy. Or lizard people down here.
- 1:57:38Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:57:38Speaker 4: And the weather was awful up there, man. Oh, dude.
- 1:57:40Speaker 10: My flights got delayed like four times on Sunday.
- 1:57:43Speaker 4: It sucked. Really bad news. I mean, look at the
- 1:57:47Speaker 4: video and footage out of Atlantic City from the beach erosion.
- 1:57:50Speaker 4: It's pretty darn amazing.
- 1:57:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:57:51Speaker 4: It's crazy.
- 1:57:53Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:57:53Speaker 4: I just wish it was a little warmer.
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:57:56Speaker 4: Even what it did here in Florida, man. It did
- 1:57:57Speaker 4: some damage here.
- 1:57:58Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 1:57:59Speaker 4: Jaden pops in for the 8-bit update, giving us a
- 1:58:00Speaker 4: little update on what's happening out there in the world
- 1:58:02Speaker 4: of gaming and other stuff. What you got for us
- 1:58:04Speaker 4: this week, buddy?
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:58:05Speaker 19: You know, we talk a lot about GTA 6, and
- 1:58:07Speaker 19: I've been kind of iffy on them, 50-50. Very excited
- 1:58:10Speaker 19: for the game, but a lot of their marketing strategies
- 1:58:12Speaker 19: have been kind of iffy with me.
- 1:58:14Speaker 10: This one just takes the cake right here.
- 1:58:16Speaker 19: They've released their collector's edition, which it comes with all
- 1:58:20Speaker 19: these little knickknacks and everything like that.
- 1:58:22Speaker 4: But?
- 1:58:23Speaker 3: But.
- 1:58:24Speaker 10: It's $ 399.
- 1:58:25Speaker 4: And what doesn't it include? The video game. Did you
- 1:58:30Speaker 4: know that, Ross? Yeah, he told me. I read this
- 1:58:32Speaker 4: last week. I was like, they have an entire package.
- 1:58:34Speaker 4: I was like, oh, very cool. I'm sure Jaden is
- 1:58:36Speaker 4: going to be happy about this. Then I read, it's
- 1:58:38Speaker 4: got all this stuff. And then you're like, well, where's
- 1:58:39Speaker 4: the game? Like, it does not come with the game.
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: No.
- 1:58:42Speaker 4: And it's still $ 300.
- 1:58:43Speaker 10: Yeah, $ 400 with tax. I mean, listen, double-sided poster.
- 1:58:48Speaker 4: Yippee.
- 1:58:48Speaker 10: A keychain.
- 1:58:49Speaker 4: Whippy. What are you doing with a double-sided poster? That's
- 1:58:51Speaker 4: what I'm saying. Piss off half the wall.
- 1:58:56Speaker 19: It comes with a keychain, a spoon, a shot glass,
- 1:59:00Speaker 19: a magnet, a zipper backpack.
- 1:59:03Speaker 4: So a grand total of about $ 23 worth of stuff
- 1:59:06Speaker 4: for $ 350?
- 1:59:07Speaker 19: Yeah, but it has the GTA 6 Vice.
- 1:59:09Speaker 10: City logo on it, so it's a $ 400 collector item.
- 1:59:12Speaker 4: By the way, let me ask, is that something gamers do?
- 1:59:15Speaker 1: What?
- 1:59:15Speaker 4: I don't know. Gamers seem almost too cool. to rep
- 1:59:19Speaker 4: these brands like that? Is that a gamer thing to do?
- 1:59:22Speaker 10: Absolutely not. People buy collector's editions like it's no problem.
- 1:59:27Speaker 4: Do they wear t-shirts and stuff like that as well?
- 1:59:29Speaker 10: Me.
- 1:59:30Speaker 5: It's me.
- 1:59:31Speaker 4: You're talking about me. Yeah, I just bought Fire Emblem
- 1:59:35Speaker 4: Special Dagger Dawn Edition. I'm going to turn my mic off. Yeah,
- 1:59:38Speaker 4: please do.
- 1:59:39Speaker 9: No, please don't. We won't understand what Jaden is saying
- 1:59:42Speaker 9: if you're not here.
- 1:59:42Speaker 4: I just want people to think that I'm cooler than
- 1:59:44Speaker 4: I really am, but if I bring up Fire Emblem,
- 1:59:46Speaker 4: I lose all street cred. No, it's cool.
- 1:59:47Speaker 1: It's cool.
- 1:59:47Speaker 10: You have that necklace on.
- 1:59:48Speaker 4: Don't worry.
- 1:59:49Speaker 10: It's fine.
- 1:59:49Speaker 4: It's fine. It'll help. It's working. It's working.
- 1:59:52Speaker 19: I went to go compare this collector edition to previous
- 1:59:55Speaker 19: GTA collector's editions. Let's start off with GTA 4, all right?
- 1:59:59Speaker 19: Came at a price tag of $ 89. That's already music
- 2:00:02Speaker 19: to my ears. came with the video game, came with
- 2:00:05Speaker 19: an art book, came with a soundtrack CD. Oh, by
- 2:00:08Speaker 19: the way, the game came in a steelbook, so that's
- 2:00:10Speaker 19: already better than anything GTA 6 has done.
- 2:00:13Speaker 10: And it came with the duffel bag.
- 2:00:14Speaker 4: Damn, really?
- 2:00:15Speaker 10: $ 89. Now, let's go.
- 2:00:17Speaker 19: To the last GTA, GTA 5, which you got so
- 2:00:21Speaker 19: much stuff in this one, and it was priced at $ 159.
- 2:00:23Speaker 19: You get the disc, you get a bag and this
- 2:00:27Speaker 19: little keychain, you get a snapback hat, you get a
- 2:00:30Speaker 19: blueprint of the GTA 5 map, You get stuff for
- 2:00:32Speaker 19: your online character. You get special ability boosts for your
- 2:00:36Speaker 19: story mode character. There's extra side missions to do, like
- 2:00:40Speaker 19: planning and stuff like that in GTA V. That's already
- 2:00:44Speaker 19: more than what GTA VI has.
- 2:00:46Speaker 4: Why are they chintzing so much? Because they spent so
- 2:00:48Speaker 4: much money on the production of the game? Is that
- 2:00:50Speaker 4: what it is?
- 2:00:50Speaker 19: It has to be, but it's kind of like a
- 2:00:52Speaker 19: spit in your face to all the fans. I mean,
- 2:00:55Speaker 19: all we want is a physical disc, and you're giving us.
- 2:00:58Speaker 4: Garbage. Is that what they're trying to do? They're trying
- 2:01:00Speaker 4: to kind of give you something to take. But why
- 2:01:02Speaker 4: would they? I mean, it's still way more than the
- 2:01:04Speaker 4: other packages.
- 2:01:05Speaker 19: Yeah, and you don't get the game. The game itself
- 2:01:07Speaker 19: is already $ 120. If you want to get the best
- 2:01:10Speaker 19: version of GTA 6 and the collector's edition, you're spending
- 2:01:13Speaker 19: pretty close.
- 2:01:14Speaker 4: To $ 600.
- 2:01:15Speaker 5: Jeez Louise.
- 2:01:16Speaker 4: So I will say this. Did you bring up the
- 2:01:18Speaker 4: brand of the sunglasses?
- 2:01:20Speaker 10: I did not. So I just looked into it.
- 2:01:22Speaker 4: Oakley.
- 2:01:23Speaker 18: Okay.
- 2:01:23Speaker 5: All right.
- 2:01:24Speaker 4: So you do get a pair of Oakley's, but that
- 2:01:25Speaker 4: still doesn't justify the price tag. And I understand that
- 2:01:29Speaker 4: doesn't come with a physical copy of the game, but
- 2:01:31Speaker 4: it's got to come with a digital download code, right?
- 2:01:33Speaker 5: It does not, dude.
- 2:01:34Speaker 10: No, no, nothing.
- 2:01:35Speaker 4: It doesn't come with any of that. That's what's crazy.
- 2:01:37Speaker 4: It is like this package. And I read the thing
- 2:01:40Speaker 4: three times because I didn't know that Jaden wasn't going
- 2:01:42Speaker 4: to be in with us last week. So I'd already
- 2:01:43Speaker 4: done a little prep. Wow, you've done some studying. And
- 2:01:45Speaker 4: I read that story from beginning to end. And everybody
- 2:01:48Speaker 4: was just kind of flabbergasted that they would put something
- 2:01:51Speaker 4: out like that, charge that much for it, and then
- 2:01:53Speaker 4: not really give you anything. It's ridiculous.
- 2:01:56Speaker 19: I've never seen a collector edition like this. The collector
- 2:01:58Speaker 19: editions always come games, T-shirts, statues.
- 2:02:00Speaker 10: It's crazy.
- 2:02:01Speaker 4: Do other games do the same thing with collector's editions
- 2:02:03Speaker 4: that have, like, you know, different little things that go
- 2:02:05Speaker 4: with it, Ross? Yeah, like Fire Emblem?
- 2:02:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:02:07Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, okay.
- 2:02:08Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, bring it back up.
- 2:02:09Speaker 4: Yeah, when we first met you, you also had some
- 2:02:12Speaker 4: kind of crazy ball or something you got. Is that
- 2:02:14Speaker 4: also part of it? A crazy ball? Was it crystal
- 2:02:16Speaker 4: or something you had there? Oh, no.
- 2:02:18Speaker 10: That was the magic of Zelda?
- 2:02:20Speaker 4: Can we play it? Some respect on it? That was
- 2:02:22Speaker 4: a limited edition Spirit Orb? Yeah, yeah, the Spirit Orb.
- 2:02:26Speaker 4: I totally forgot about that.
- 2:02:27Speaker 5: Sorry.
- 2:02:28Speaker 4: And I will not put respect on it. I will
- 2:02:31Speaker 4: disrespect it. Anyway, go ahead, Jay. I am offended.
- 2:02:33Speaker 10: You should be. Moving on to Call of Duty.
- 2:02:35Speaker 19: I haven't talked much about the new Call of Duty
- 2:02:37Speaker 19: coming out, Modern Warfare 4. It's getting, you know, it's
- 2:02:40Speaker 19: Call of Duty, so the reviews are 50-50 about the excitement.
- 2:02:43Speaker 19: But they added this new game mode, and it's straight
- 2:02:45Speaker 19: up just copying Counter-Strike. Which isn't the worst thing in
- 2:02:49Speaker 19: the world. Counter-Strike is a PC-exclusive game made by Valve.
- 2:02:52Speaker 19: There's two sides, terrorist, counter-terrorist.
- 2:02:55Speaker 4: Got it.
- 2:02:56Speaker 19: The terrorist try to blow up the bomb, counter-terrorist try
- 2:02:58Speaker 19: to stop them. Got it. Really competitive game. A lot
- 2:03:01Speaker 19: of fun on computer. But Call of Duty has this
- 2:03:04Speaker 19: game mode called Search and Destroy, which is basically the
- 2:03:07Speaker 19: same thing as Counter-Strike, just without all the extras in it.
- 2:03:10Speaker 19: But now Call of Duties is going full force, copying Counter-Strike. Yep,
- 2:03:14Speaker 19: they added this game mode, and you start off with
- 2:03:16Speaker 19: a knife and pistol, just like Counter-Strike.
- 2:03:18Speaker 4: Are you saying game mode? Are you saying game mode?
- 2:03:22Speaker 4: Game mode. Okay, I mean, I got to ask. There
- 2:03:25Speaker 4: wasn't a game mode. I didn't know. I mean, I
- 2:03:26Speaker 4: don't know if you push that mode, something else happens.
- 2:03:28Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 2:03:29Speaker 10: It gets all butterflies and rainbows.
- 2:03:31Speaker 4: I don't know, dude. I'll throw this out here. When
- 2:03:33Speaker 4: you kill someone in like Call of Duty, if it's
- 2:03:35Speaker 4: online and then you get bagged, that's pretty gay. Yeah.
- 2:03:39Speaker 4: They can bag you in that? Yeah, they bag you.
- 2:03:42Speaker 10: It's the best thing about Call of Duty.
- 2:03:43Speaker 4: They teabag. That's how you squat. There's a button. You
- 2:03:46Speaker 4: crouch over the corpse.
- 2:03:48Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 2:03:49Speaker 10: Usually right on top of their head.
- 2:03:50Speaker 4: Yeah. You people have problems.
- 2:03:52Speaker 10: Okay, I thought you guys were spoofing us.
- 2:03:54Speaker 4: Yeah, no, they're not.
- 2:03:55Speaker 10: No, this is real.
- 2:03:56Speaker 4: It's a digital debate. No, it's really, really funny. Whenever
- 2:03:58Speaker 4: you gun someone, then you go, bag them, boys. Bag them, boys.
- 2:04:04Speaker 19: They usually say something about your mom the next round,
- 2:04:06Speaker 19: so you just got to do it again to get
- 2:04:08Speaker 19: them back.
- 2:04:08Speaker 4: You know, good old fun, Deb.
- 2:04:09Speaker 19: Yeah, it's the best thing about Call of Duty. But
- 2:04:12Speaker 19: they're just full-on copying Counter-Strike. You start off with a
- 2:04:15Speaker 19: pistol and knife. You get money based off the kills
- 2:04:18Speaker 19: and all that. You don't regain health when you die.
- 2:04:20Speaker 19: You have to rebuy your guns again.
- 2:04:22Speaker 4: Oof.
- 2:04:23Speaker 10: Yeah, it's a lot of fun.
- 2:04:24Speaker 19: It's a round base, so we'll see how it goes.
- 2:04:27Speaker 19: If you don't have a computer and you've always wanted
- 2:04:29Speaker 19: to play Counter-Strike... This is the perfect game mode for you.
- 2:04:31Speaker 19: Won't play like Counter-Strike because it's two completely different games.
- 2:04:34Speaker 5: Gotcha.
- 2:04:35Speaker 19: But it's worth it to me if you want to
- 2:04:37Speaker 19: play Counter-Strike and you're stuck on a console.
- 2:04:39Speaker 1: Cool.
- 2:04:39Speaker 19: The last thing I got for you is Capcom is
- 2:04:42Speaker 19: in the news, and it sounds like from rumors we're
- 2:04:44Speaker 19: getting a new Dead Rising game.
- 2:04:46Speaker 5: Yes.
- 2:04:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:04:47Speaker 4: I know, right? That's big.
- 2:04:48Speaker 19: We don't know if it's a reboot or it's Dead
- 2:04:50Speaker 19: Rising 5, but it's going to take place in a
- 2:04:52Speaker 19: Hollywood movie set studio.
- 2:04:54Speaker 4: Like a zombie game or something? Exactly.
- 2:04:56Speaker 10: It's going to take place in this movie studio.
- 2:04:58Speaker 19: There's going to be a bunch of sets, environments, and
- 2:05:00Speaker 19: thousands of zombies for you to fight as Frank West.
- 2:05:04Speaker 19: Dead Rising is one of the funniest games I've played.
- 2:05:06Speaker 4: Oh, is it really? Oh, yeah.
- 2:05:07Speaker 19: It's super comical. You can craft a bunch of weapons.
- 2:05:10Speaker 19: You can build a lightsaber. You can just do so
- 2:05:12Speaker 19: many things in Dead Rising and just slaughter zombies.
- 2:05:15Speaker 8: Are zombies the number one villain in video games? Or
- 2:05:20Speaker 8: is it some kind of morphing monster type thing? There
- 2:05:23Speaker 8: are a lot of games where you kill zombies.
- 2:05:25Speaker 4: There is. It's a genre. It ebbs and flows. It's
- 2:05:29Speaker 4: kind of like rap music. Is it because there are
- 2:05:30Speaker 4: no rules around zombies? You can kind of make them
- 2:05:32Speaker 4: do whatever you want, as opposed to a character that
- 2:05:35Speaker 4: has a specific thing they do? You know what I'm saying?
- 2:05:39Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:05:39Speaker 12: Or no.
- 2:05:39Speaker 19: Yeah, they're not also really human. I mean, they are technically,
- 2:05:42Speaker 19: but not really. You can get away with a lot
- 2:05:44Speaker 19: of gore in zombie games.
- 2:05:45Speaker 4: And do all of the zombies in video games move slowly,
- 2:05:48Speaker 4: or are they fast zombies? Depends on the game.
- 2:05:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:05:51Speaker 4: I Am Legend zombie or not I Am Legend zombie? Mostly,
- 2:05:57Speaker 4: mainly slow-moving zombies.
- 2:05:59Speaker 10: They might throw a curveball at you.
- 2:06:02Speaker 4: That one guy that can sprint?
- 2:06:03Speaker 19: Yeah, and just screaming its head off just trying to
- 2:06:06Speaker 19: get you. This game is going to take place in
- 2:06:08Speaker 19: a Hollywood movie set, like I said. A bunch of environment,
- 2:06:10Speaker 19: a bunch of sets, thousands of zombies. And then the
- 2:06:12Speaker 19: main villain in this is going to be this super insane,
- 2:06:15Speaker 19: crazy director that forces survivors to go fight all these
- 2:06:19Speaker 19: zombies for his perfect movie. So it sounds like a
- 2:06:22Speaker 19: Capcom Dead Rising game. Very excited for it.
- 2:06:24Speaker 4: That's awesome.
- 2:06:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:06:25Speaker 4: That's good news for me. It's the first Dead Rising.
- 2:06:28Speaker 4: How old is that game?
- 2:06:29Speaker 5: Oh, man.
- 2:06:30Speaker 10: It's the same age as me.
- 2:06:32Speaker 4: 20 what? 20 years. It's 20 years old?
- 2:06:34Speaker 10: It came out in 2005. I was born in 05.
- 2:06:36Speaker 4: Man, that is amazing. How long? Is it just because
- 2:06:40Speaker 4: of the development time? I mean, why do they wait
- 2:06:43Speaker 4: so long? Supply and demand. Is it? I mean, in
- 2:06:46Speaker 4: other words, you have to give the people, like when
- 2:06:48Speaker 4: GTA 6 comes out, they'll give it like... Do you
- 2:06:51Speaker 4: think they're already developing the next game, or will they
- 2:06:53Speaker 4: say to themselves, this is going to be hot for
- 2:06:55Speaker 4: at least the next five to seven years. People are
- 2:06:57Speaker 4: going to play it ad nauseum for five or seven years,
- 2:07:00Speaker 4: so we have that time to develop? I'll blow your
- 2:07:02Speaker 4: mind right now. There's an entire community still playing GTA V.
- 2:07:07Speaker 3: Oh, really?
- 2:07:07Speaker 4: They never stopped. They never died. Yeah, yeah.
- 2:07:09Speaker 19: And they have a constant... just rotation of making games.
- 2:07:13Speaker 19: Right after GTA V launched, they instantly started working on
- 2:07:16Speaker 19: Red Dead Redemption 2. Once Red Dead Redemption 2 launched,
- 2:07:19Speaker 19: they had all the developers move over to GTA 6.
- 2:07:21Speaker 19: So that's usually what these bigger, higher studios do.
- 2:07:25Speaker 4: You know what we never talk about? It's funny. I mean,
- 2:07:28Speaker 4: I know you talked about the Wolverine game the other day,
- 2:07:29Speaker 4: but you rarely talk about IPs that are outside of
- 2:07:34Speaker 4: the already existing gaming world. Why is that the case?
- 2:07:38Speaker 4: I mean, you would figure that these Marvel characters would
- 2:07:40Speaker 4: be turned into what? No, that's just a hell of
- 2:07:43Speaker 4: a good question. And you're walking into a multiple decade
- 2:07:48Speaker 4: long debate and question that even all video gamers have. Right.
- 2:07:52Speaker 4: You would think that there would be an automatic transfer
- 2:07:55Speaker 4: from the movie characters because they're already established through the movies.
- 2:07:59Speaker 4: I know they do it with spider-man but it just
- 2:08:01Speaker 4: seems like that the video game business would be inundated
- 2:08:05Speaker 4: with marvel character games that would go up against like
- 2:08:07Speaker 4: your red red redemption and your gta6s and your Dead Rising,
- 2:08:11Speaker 4: all those games like that that are IPs on their
- 2:08:14Speaker 4: own that go to the movies because we know they
- 2:08:17Speaker 4: make movies from video games, but it just doesn't seem
- 2:08:19Speaker 4: like it has that other way around.
- 2:08:21Speaker 19: Yeah, I mean, movie games were like they had tie-in
- 2:08:23Speaker 19: movie games for the longest time. When a movie came out,
- 2:08:26Speaker 19: a video game came out with it. I mean, the
- 2:08:28Speaker 19: original Spider-Man, the prequel Star Wars, and they just didn't.
- 2:08:31Speaker 19: died over time.
- 2:08:32Speaker 4: Well, it just takes so much time to develop these.
- 2:08:34Speaker 4: I mean, you can make a movie in three years,
- 2:08:35Speaker 4: but you can't make one of these games in three years.
- 2:08:37Speaker 4: It's not a game that you really want to play
- 2:08:39Speaker 4: over and over. So it was a very known fact
- 2:08:42Speaker 4: that if a movie was coming out in the 90s,
- 2:08:44Speaker 4: they were going to have a video game, and that
- 2:08:46Speaker 4: was just to promo the movie. Like the Tomb Raider thing,
- 2:08:49Speaker 4: but the video game came first, correct? So more like
- 2:08:53Speaker 4: the Lion King video game. Okay, I didn't even know
- 2:08:56Speaker 4: they had one. Yeah, well, all movies had a video
- 2:09:00Speaker 4: game partner to help promo the movie, and all gamers
- 2:09:03Speaker 4: found out the hard way after buying them, man, these
- 2:09:06Speaker 4: games suck. Yeah, yeah, they're just developed for the sole
- 2:09:08Speaker 4: purpose of helping promote. They're not really there to challenge you.
- 2:09:11Speaker 4: There's only been two superheroes that have broke out in
- 2:09:15Speaker 4: a video game franchise with wild, successful results. That would
- 2:09:19Speaker 4: be Spider-Man. and Batman with the Arkham series. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:09:24Speaker 4: And that's, like, those, they're great. You would figure with
- 2:09:27Speaker 4: all the gadgets and stuff that Iron Man would be
- 2:09:30Speaker 4: an automatic for something like this.
- 2:09:32Speaker 10: They tried, and it flopped.
- 2:09:34Speaker 19: That was one of the last movie tie-in games that
- 2:09:36Speaker 19: came out, and it completely flopped.
- 2:09:39Speaker 4: Burnout in the character or something. I mean, that's kind
- 2:09:41Speaker 4: of wild because I mean, you would think Iron Man
- 2:09:42Speaker 4: of all of them, like he's literally, he's like created
- 2:09:45Speaker 4: from a guy who would like create a video game.
- 2:09:47Speaker 4: My best guess it's because for the same reason why
- 2:09:51Speaker 4: sometimes the horror night houses that aren't the famous IPs
- 2:09:56Speaker 4: are sometimes the more beloved and Because you don't have expectations. So, like,
- 2:10:00Speaker 4: if you sign Iron Man into a video game, that
- 2:10:02Speaker 4: means you have to bring a whole bunch of people
- 2:10:04Speaker 4: who don't really know and like about video games now
- 2:10:07Speaker 4: onto your project.
- 2:10:08Speaker 5: Got it.
- 2:10:09Speaker 4: With Red Dead, you're only talking about video game people.
- 2:10:12Speaker 4: We don't have to walk on eggshells. Tony Stark wouldn't
- 2:10:15Speaker 4: say that. Tony Stark wouldn't do that.
- 2:10:17Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:10:18Speaker 4: And then I guess the licensing also has to be
- 2:10:20Speaker 4: a big deal of that as well. It would probably
- 2:10:22Speaker 4: have to be really difficult to negotiate a deal for
- 2:10:25Speaker 4: a license like that when you don't really know what's
- 2:10:27Speaker 4: going to happen, especially if you had a flop. That
- 2:10:30Speaker 4: would terrify people to even give it a shot if
- 2:10:33Speaker 4: they took one of the most popular ones of all time,
- 2:10:35Speaker 4: which would be the Iron Man guy. I mean, I
- 2:10:37Speaker 4: would think in the list of characters, I mean, here's
- 2:10:39Speaker 4: your Spider-Man, Superman, Batman guy. But I mean, Iron Man's
- 2:10:42Speaker 4: got to be in the top five.
- 2:10:43Speaker 5: Does he?
- 2:10:44Speaker 10: Yeah, nowadays, especially when that game came out. Not really, though.
- 2:10:47Speaker 10: It was 2008.
- 2:10:48Speaker 19: He wasn't the biggest character in Marvel. And it's just
- 2:10:51Speaker 19: the thing with the licenses, man. It's almost impossible. Like
- 2:10:54Speaker 19: I can name off almost every single Marvel game from
- 2:10:57Speaker 19: the 2010s, late 2000s. None of those are viable on
- 2:11:01Speaker 19: digital storefronts.
- 2:11:03Speaker 4: There's one huge Venn diagram here, and I have to
- 2:11:07Speaker 4: say this before I will regret it and lose sleep.
- 2:11:10Speaker 4: James Bond Goldeneye is one of the greatest examples of like,
- 2:11:13Speaker 4: look what happens when you put video game people responsible
- 2:11:17Speaker 4: for famous licenses. And that was a very well-respected game, right? It's...
- 2:11:21Speaker 4: Arguably the greatest game of all time. And I watched
- 2:11:24Speaker 4: a two-hour documentary on the making of GoldenEye just because
- 2:11:28Speaker 4: I was fascinated of like, how did this become a
- 2:11:31Speaker 4: cornerstone of an entire generation's childhood? But why don't they
- 2:11:35Speaker 4: build on that? Is that the only Bond game that's out? So,
- 2:11:38Speaker 4: I mean, there's so many other brands that can be
- 2:11:40Speaker 4: the other bond. I mean, like the casino bond would
- 2:11:42Speaker 4: be great, you know, and they even made, I believe,
- 2:11:45Speaker 4: a casino bond video game. They just came out with
- 2:11:47Speaker 4: a new James Bond video game this year. And I
- 2:11:50Speaker 4: think it did like, okay. Slash. It had really good reviews. Yeah,
- 2:11:53Speaker 4: it had really good reviews. So, but I don't know
- 2:11:55Speaker 4: what the sales were. It's just a really weird. That's
- 2:11:57Speaker 4: why I was like, oh man, you're walking into a
- 2:11:59Speaker 4: big video game topic. of why can't licensed video games
- 2:12:03Speaker 4: just thrive as much? You would think they would have
- 2:12:05Speaker 4: the advantage. Yeah, just simply because of the character recognition.
- 2:12:08Speaker 4: I mean, you already have a built-in character that people love.
- 2:12:13Speaker 4: But the thing is, if you don't love that character
- 2:12:16Speaker 4: doing those things, you're not going to do it, right?
- 2:12:19Speaker 4: I mean, it would be like your favorite band playing
- 2:12:20Speaker 4: music you don't really like. I mean, you love the band,
- 2:12:23Speaker 4: but you don't like them playing country music. So let's
- 2:12:26Speaker 4: say we're comparing this to an Iron Man video game.
- 2:12:29Speaker 4: Red Dead is just awesome. And that's a bigger genre
- 2:12:33Speaker 4: and a bigger sample size or offering for the general
- 2:12:36Speaker 4: public than, do you like Tony Stark?
- 2:12:40Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 2:12:40Speaker 4: Yeah, 100%.
- 2:12:41Speaker 11: Right? Yeah.
- 2:12:42Speaker 4: Yeah, 100%. So that's even in that case, in that example,
- 2:12:46Speaker 4: making the non-famous video game famous. characters are financially productive.
- 2:12:51Speaker 4: Have they ever tried to use Halloween characters to create games,
- 2:12:54Speaker 4: like a Freddy game or a Michael Myers game or
- 2:12:57Speaker 4: anything like that?
- 2:12:57Speaker 10: But that's another thing with licensing.
- 2:12:59Speaker 19: This Friday the 13th game, when it first came out,
- 2:13:01Speaker 19: I was middle school, so.
- 2:13:03Speaker 10: Like 2016, 2017?
- 2:13:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:13:05Speaker 4: It took off.
- 2:13:06Speaker 19: The sales were great, but they couldn't update the game
- 2:13:08Speaker 19: anymore because whoever owned the license just completely nuked them.
- 2:13:12Speaker 10: They had to take the game off. They had to
- 2:13:14Speaker 10: shut down servers.
- 2:13:14Speaker 1: No!
- 2:13:14Speaker 19: Yeah, it's horrible, but they have a Halloween game now,
- 2:13:18Speaker 19: so hopefully that doesn't have the same life as the
- 2:13:20Speaker 19: Friday the 13th game.
- 2:13:21Speaker 4: Aren't there horror games?
- 2:13:23Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 2:13:24Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 2:13:24Speaker 4: Dude, Resident Evil? That is a horror game? Absolutely. Resident
- 2:13:28Speaker 4: Evil is what I think kick-started the horror genre. Yeah,
- 2:13:32Speaker 4: I'd say so. We almost watched Resident Evil Burn the
- 2:13:35Speaker 4: other night. That's a movie out right now? That's two
- 2:13:37Speaker 4: different franchises.
- 2:13:38Speaker 5: Is it really?
- 2:13:38Speaker 4: That's Evil Dead Burn. Evil Dead. There you go. That's
- 2:13:41Speaker 4: close enough. Hey, listen. It had the word evil in there.
- 2:13:44Speaker 4: It's as good as I can do. He was close.
- 2:13:46Speaker 4: She's close. That's as good as I can do, buddy.
- 2:13:48Speaker 4: Resident Evil Dead Burn, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a sequel.
- 2:13:52Speaker 4: Is Evil Dead good?
- 2:13:53Speaker 1: Yes.
- 2:13:54Speaker 4: Which is better? Movie-wise, I would go Evil Dead.
- 2:13:57Speaker 16: Yeah, okay.
- 2:13:58Speaker 10: Yeah, the Resident Evil movies aren't great.
- 2:14:01Speaker 4: They're not, huh?
- 2:14:01Speaker 5: No, no, no.
- 2:14:02Speaker 10: I was trying to find a better word to say this,
- 2:14:04Speaker 10: but they're just not great. You can't sugarcoat it.
- 2:14:05Speaker 4: But the most recent Resident Evil movie is supposed to
- 2:14:08Speaker 4: be a fan favorite love song to that first Resident
- 2:14:13Speaker 4: Evil video game.
- 2:14:14Speaker 11: Oh, really?
- 2:14:14Speaker 19: Yeah, but they don't have the original characters, so some
- 2:14:16Speaker 19: of the fans are up in arms about it. It
- 2:14:20Speaker 19: doesn't have Leon and stuff like that. Well, that's a
- 2:14:22Speaker 19: first Resident Evil movie. Leon only comes in the fourth.
- 2:14:24Speaker 19: If you guys had one property you could make a
- 2:14:26Speaker 19: video game out of, what would it be?
- 2:14:28Speaker 4: Chrono Trigger. Next question. It's the nerdiest thing I could answer.
- 2:14:32Speaker 4: What is Chrono Trigger?
- 2:14:34Speaker 10: Don't ask a question you're not ready for the answer.
- 2:14:36Speaker 4: It's a Japanese role-playing game that was released in 1993.
- 2:14:40Speaker 4: Scored by Nobuo Yumamastu. Okay.
- 2:14:42Speaker 5: Wow.
- 2:14:43Speaker 16: Wow.
- 2:14:44Speaker 4: That's a lot.
- 2:14:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:14:44Speaker 4: What I was actually asking, though, is like, is there
- 2:14:46Speaker 4: something now you think to yourself, that would be a
- 2:14:48Speaker 4: cool-ass video game, like a character, a brand?
- 2:14:51Speaker 10: You ever seen the movie Tenet?
- 2:14:52Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:14:53Speaker 10: I think that would be a phenomenal video game.
- 2:14:55Speaker 4: In the Nolan movies or something like that? Yeah, I'm
- 2:14:57Speaker 4: a Christopher Nolan sucker. Is there a Matrix video game?
- 2:14:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:15:00Speaker 4: And it was good. Not a new one, though. Not
- 2:15:03Speaker 4: a new one, but it came out on the PS2.
- 2:15:05Speaker 4: You had bullet time.
- 2:15:06Speaker 5: Very good.
- 2:15:07Speaker 4: You're playing as Jada Pinkett before the slap incident. All right, 407-916-1041.
- 2:15:12Speaker 4: Text us, 77031. Deb, got some news for us?
- 2:15:15Speaker 9: Yeah, NASA and SpaceX prepare for launch. The Atlantic hurricane
- 2:15:18Speaker 9: season remains unprecedented, and a new champ is crowned in
- 2:15:23Speaker 9: Alaska's Fat Bear Week. We'll talk about that next during
- 2:15:26Speaker 9: You Heard It Here First.
- 2:15:27Speaker 4: You got a single break. We'll come back and get
- 2:15:28Speaker 4: Deb's news and get the hell out of here on
- 2:15:29Speaker 4: a Wednesday.
- 2:15:36Speaker 1: It's time for a Talkback Purge on the Jim Colbert Show.
- 2:15:41Speaker 18: I swear, I believe I've got something on the back
- 2:15:44Speaker 18: of my car that says, hit me, hit me, hit me. Well,
- 2:15:48Speaker 18: I've got news for them. I'm going to turn around
- 2:15:50Speaker 18: and slam my brakes on and they can hit me too.
- 2:15:55Speaker 4: Ticka-ticka-ticka-doo.
- 2:15:56Speaker 5: I'm fed up with it.
- 2:15:58Speaker 18: All day long.
- 2:16:00Speaker 4: People tell me. She's like the hen from Little Bear.
- 2:16:03Speaker 16: She is.
- 2:16:04Speaker 3: What up, Colbert crew?
- 2:16:06Speaker 4: What's up, homie? Hump day, baby! Yeah, baby.
- 2:16:11Speaker 19: Listening to the game talk here and listening to the
- 2:16:16Speaker 19: teabagging brother.
- 2:16:19Speaker 3: Nothing's as good as teabagging on Halo.
- 2:16:22Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. It was so interactive.
- 2:16:25Speaker 10: You used to be able to bounce the dead person's
- 2:16:28Speaker 10: head off.
- 2:16:29Speaker 4: The ground like you're dribbling water.
- 2:16:31Speaker 3: His head with your bag.
- 2:16:33Speaker 4: Hear that, Deb?
- 2:16:34Speaker 16: Love it.
- 2:16:34Speaker 4: With your bag, he says. You hear that, Deb? I'm
- 2:16:39Speaker 4: in my happy place. Okay, good. Is that all the purges?
- 2:16:42Speaker 4: That's all the purges. All right, very good. Welcome back.
- 2:16:44Speaker 1: I'm Jim.
- 2:16:45Speaker 4: There's Deb, Jaden, and Ross as well. Jack is going
- 2:16:50Speaker 4: to see Hamilton tonight. We'll get a full review tomorrow.
- 2:16:53Speaker 16: What?
- 2:16:54Speaker 9: No, I just, kudos for Jack, right? He's going with
- 2:16:57Speaker 9: his daughter. They're going to go see an awesome show.
- 2:17:00Speaker 9: it's no big deal that the Yankees, you know, it's
- 2:17:04Speaker 9: not like it's postseason.
- 2:17:05Speaker 4: Well, you know what he's going to be doing, right?
- 2:17:07Speaker 4: calling hamilton gangster rap.
- 2:17:08Speaker 9: He's gonna be watching it on his phone no he
- 2:17:10Speaker 9: will not yeah he will too you guys want to
- 2:17:11Speaker 9: take money on that he watched sports at ross's wedding
- 2:17:15Speaker 9: yeah but that's he watched yankees baseball at ross's wedding
- 2:17:19Speaker 9: i think while the ceremony was going on no i
- 2:17:23Speaker 9: still don't think he's gonna do that dr phillips because
- 2:17:25Speaker 9: that he'll get kicked out for well.
- 2:17:27Speaker 4: And you know what's funny is that like i saw
- 2:17:29Speaker 4: him doing that i was like oh that's kind of
- 2:17:30Speaker 4: funny he's doing that for like a joke And then
- 2:17:32Speaker 4: it was like 45 minutes later. No, he was not
- 2:17:34Speaker 4: doing it. I was sitting right next to him. I'm like, dude,
- 2:17:37Speaker 4: what are you doing? He goes, I can't miss this guy.
- 2:17:39Speaker 4: And I'm like, we're at a wedding. We're at a
- 2:17:42Speaker 4: friend's wedding. We're at a show member's wedding and you're
- 2:17:45Speaker 4: watching Yankee baseball? There is zero remorse.
- 2:17:50Speaker 5: Dude.
- 2:17:51Speaker 4: Zero. Did not care at all. Fully watching. That's my guy.
- 2:17:56Speaker 10: True New Yorker.
- 2:17:57Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:17:58Speaker 4: Yankee Jack, man. And he just bought his ticket to
- 2:18:01Speaker 4: go to the game on, if it pops up, it'll
- 2:18:03Speaker 4: be Sunday, right? Or Saturday. Saturday, yeah. So after the
- 2:18:07Speaker 4: best-of challenge at the promenade, He is leaving to go
- 2:18:10Speaker 4: to Tampa to check out the Yankees play. Well, they
- 2:18:13Speaker 4: will make it because they've already won game one. If
- 2:18:15Speaker 4: they win tonight, he won't be able to go. Right,
- 2:18:20Speaker 4: because it's a three-game series?
- 2:18:22Speaker 17: Two.
- 2:18:22Speaker 4: I think it's best of three, no? Yeah, it's the
- 2:18:24Speaker 4: best of three, right? Yeah, so if the Yankees win,
- 2:18:26Speaker 4: he'll see the Yankees. But if the Red Sox win
- 2:18:28Speaker 4: the next two games, he's going to have to sell
- 2:18:31Speaker 4: his ticket. Okay, hold on. Maybe I have this wrong.
- 2:18:34Speaker 4: I thought the wildcard games were just three games. This
- 2:18:37Speaker 4: is a wildcard series, and the Yankees won last night.
- 2:18:40Speaker 4: So if the Yankees play tonight, they play tonight again, right?
- 2:18:43Speaker 7: Yep.
- 2:18:43Speaker 4: So if the Yankees win tonight, that means they won't
- 2:18:45Speaker 4: play the game Saturday. They won't need to. They would
- 2:18:48Speaker 4: have won if two of three. I think that Saturday
- 2:18:50Speaker 4: game is against Tampa Bay. Oh, it is against the Rays.
- 2:18:54Speaker 10: Yeah, in the next round.
- 2:18:55Speaker 4: Oh, got it. So what he's hoping is they win
- 2:18:58Speaker 4: tonight so that he will have first game there.
- 2:19:00Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 2:19:01Speaker 4: Got it. Did not understand that. If the Yankees win
- 2:19:03Speaker 4: game three, he would also be seeing the Rays on Saturday. Gotcha.
- 2:19:08Speaker 4: Either way. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Can you get your money
- 2:19:12Speaker 4: back from stuff like that? Oh, yeah. Can you really
- 2:19:14Speaker 4: sell them tickets? I mean, I know we can sell
- 2:19:16Speaker 4: them on Facebook Marketplace or whatever. What I'm saying is
- 2:19:18Speaker 4: you can't go back to the venue and go, hey,
- 2:19:20Speaker 4: I decided I want to go. No one's buying tickets
- 2:19:22Speaker 4: from the venue anymore.
- 2:19:23Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:19:24Speaker 4: It's all from StubHub and Third Party. Ticketmaster or whatever.
- 2:19:28Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:19:29Speaker 4: So he would just probably flip it up on Ticketmaster
- 2:19:31Speaker 4: and then get whatever he can get.
- 2:19:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:19:35Speaker 4: Probably full price, though. They actually make some money. I mean,
- 2:19:37Speaker 4: you could have made money on your soccer tickets. You
- 2:19:39Speaker 4: could have made a ton of money on your soccer tickets.
- 2:19:42Speaker 4: When you look back at that, do you still revere
- 2:19:44Speaker 4: the experience over what could have happened with that cash? Yes,
- 2:19:48Speaker 4: I do. But I really wish I was a little
- 2:19:52Speaker 4: bit more sober. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because I was banged up.
- 2:19:55Speaker 4: Because that's a roof. Yeah, that's a roof, right? I mean,
- 2:19:59Speaker 4: you have to get a roof, right? Yeah, now I've
- 2:20:01Speaker 4: got to get a roof. You would have paid for
- 2:20:03Speaker 4: the roof with your soccer tickets. Now, I still have
- 2:20:05Speaker 4: roof money. I would not have got soccer tickets without
- 2:20:09Speaker 4: roof money. But, yeah, it still stinks. All right, Deb,
- 2:20:12Speaker 4: who do we have to thank? All right, excuse me.
- 2:20:13Speaker 4: Let's do you heard it here first.
- 2:20:15Speaker 1: It's time for You Heard It Here First on the
- 2:20:19Speaker 1: Jim Colbert Show.
- 2:20:20Speaker 9: NASA and SpaceX are getting ready to launch four astronauts
- 2:20:23Speaker 9: to the International Space Station, including 47-year-old Luke Delaney, who
- 2:20:27Speaker 9: grew up in DeBerry and is making... His first trip
- 2:20:30Speaker 9: to space, Crew 13 will lift off aboard a SpaceX
- 2:20:33Speaker 9: Dragon capsule named Grace at 11.10 tomorrow morning. From Cape Canaveral,
- 2:20:38Speaker 9: they're expected to reach the ISS about eight hours later,
- 2:20:41Speaker 9: and the astronauts' six-month mission will focus on science, technology,
- 2:20:45Speaker 9: and research. All right, there's a possibility of, quote, zero
- 2:20:48Speaker 9: hurricanes forming this season, end quote. That's the latest update
- 2:20:52Speaker 9: from AccuWeather. It credits the, quote, strengthening super El Nino conditions,
- 2:20:56Speaker 9: end quote. The last time the Atlantic went to season
- 2:20:59Speaker 9: without a storm reaching hurricane strength was back in 1914,
- 2:21:02Speaker 9: and it's also... The first time since the satellite era
- 2:21:06Speaker 9: began back in 1966. It's crazy.
- 2:21:08Speaker 4: I was talking to my wife about it this morning,
- 2:21:10Speaker 4: how odd it is. I said, can you even remember
- 2:21:12Speaker 4: when we never even had the threat of a hurricane
- 2:21:15Speaker 4: during a summer?
- 2:21:16Speaker 10: Yeah, exactly.
- 2:21:17Speaker 4: That means this winter is going to be gnarly.
- 2:21:20Speaker 9: And then Fat Bear Week has wrapped up with a
- 2:21:22Speaker 9: new champion taking the crown. The contest is held at
- 2:21:25Speaker 9: this time each year at Alaska's Katmai National Park, where
- 2:21:29Speaker 9: bears bulk up on salmon from the Brooks River, a
- 2:21:32Speaker 9: Ahead of the long winter, sometimes Jack will show that
- 2:21:34Speaker 9: in the fourth box. Fans viewing on the Bear Cam
- 2:21:37Speaker 9: online can vote on which bear has gained the most weight.
- 2:21:40Speaker 9: This year's winner is a 20-year-old male bear named Backpack.
- 2:21:46Speaker 4: Oh, he's a horse, huh?
- 2:21:47Speaker 9: Before and after photos show Backpack looking kind of lean
- 2:21:50Speaker 9: back in June, but weighing roughly 1,200 pounds in September.
- 2:21:54Speaker 9: 1,200 pounds of mad with knife hands. Say over 2
- 2:22:02Speaker 9: million votes from all over the world were cast this year,
- 2:22:06Speaker 9: and it, quote, broke the internet, end quote.
- 2:22:08Speaker 4: It's like the new Shark thing, right?
- 2:22:09Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly.
- 2:22:10Speaker 4: It's like the new Shark Week thing.
- 2:22:11Speaker 10: And you heard it here first on The Jim Colbert Show.
- 2:22:13Speaker 4: Thank you so much. I appreciate that, Deborah.
- 2:22:15Speaker 1: Sure.
- 2:22:16Speaker 4: Who do we have to thank today?
- 2:22:17Speaker 9: We want to thank Jaden Grimes, not only for his
- 2:22:19Speaker 9: 8-bit update, which his podcast has already been posted at
- 2:22:23Speaker 9: The Jim Colbert Show, but also for.
- 2:22:25Speaker 10: producing for us for the last hour or so.
- 2:22:27Speaker 9: Also want to thank that mortgage guy, Don, for saucing
- 2:22:30Speaker 9: up our Wednesdays. Maggie Lydon with the City of Leesburg
- 2:22:33Speaker 9: and Heidi Gaume with the Leesburg Humane Society. Scott Maxwell,
- 2:22:38Speaker 9: Orlando Sentinel columnist, just in case you missed Animal House
- 2:22:41Speaker 9: or Scott's call with us, their podcast too. have also
- 2:22:44Speaker 9: been posted at the Jim Colbert Show. And last but
- 2:22:46Speaker 9: never least, Candice Rich and Alicia Boulware for running our
- 2:22:51Speaker 9: YouTube chat.
- 2:22:52Speaker 4: Yeah, guys, thanks. We appreciate that very much like we
- 2:22:54Speaker 4: do every single day. Do we have a question of
- 2:22:56Speaker 4: the day, Jaden? The question of the day was, how
- 2:23:00Speaker 4: are you feeling? Okay, so we do not have that.
- 2:23:03Speaker 4: No question of the day. All right, well, let's get
- 2:23:04Speaker 4: the hell out of here. The question of the day was,
- 2:23:06Speaker 4: would you buy Fun Delivered?
- 2:23:08Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:23:08Speaker 13: Oh, yeah.
- 2:23:08Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah. I wonder what it was, though. We'll find
- 2:23:10Speaker 4: out tomorrow, though. Jack will be back for sure. Jaden, thanks, buddy.
- 2:23:12Speaker 4: We appreciate it. Thank you, Jaden.
- 2:23:13Speaker 10: Thanks for having me, guys.
- 2:23:13Speaker 4: On behalf of Deb Jaden and Jack and Ross, I'm Jim.
- 2:23:17Speaker 4: We follow the new Chucky. They follow the monsters in
- 2:23:19Speaker 4: the morning after us. It's Tom and Dan with a
- 2:23:21Speaker 4: corporate time and our friends from Real Laughs. We'll see
- 2:23:22Speaker 4: you tomorrow at 3 for more of the Jim Colbert Show.
- 2:23:24Speaker 4: Until then, have yourself a fantastic Wednesday evening. And go
- 2:23:27Speaker 4: put some hump in your day.
- 2:23:28Speaker 17: Bye.
