- 0:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not reviewing the pit because that would have kind of helped with all of that.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you heard that in the background, but there was some sort of page going on.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, sitting across.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, sitting across for me is, uh,

- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: Three seasons.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: In dog years, that's 21 seasons.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's just saying, crickets.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: If it was Canacoidad, it'd be 21 seasons.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_01]: It should be Canacoidad.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: It could be.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: I can see, I can see the two of you get down.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: What up, no!
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: What up, no, what's up?
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: You got some up dog on your shirt, by the way.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: So, we're going to preview.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: That's coming up this weekend.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: Why don't you tell us how you really feel about the movies that are coming out to us again?
- 1:52[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't see anything coming out that I liked, except maybe for a bit in fruits.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: Of course.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: That looks interesting.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: Anything with a B-rated title, you're all over.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: B-rated?
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: I said, B-rated title for big fruits.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: Sounds like it's a B-rated movie.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: Like, oh, I thought you're someone like B-rated somebody.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like insulting them.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: B.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: The letter B.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: And the word rating.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: Right, this episode is brought to you by the letter B. Sesame Street.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: B, baby.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_02]: Great.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: So speaking of forbidden fruits, let's talk about that because it is going to be in theaters nationwide coming out tomorrow the 27th of March.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: It follows a freeed and employee Apple who secretly runs a witchy femme cult in the basement of the mall store.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: after hours, this sounds like a B-rated movie.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you very much.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: God, good be.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: Money that I said that, anyway.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: It could be Emma Chamberlain is in it, Mary Ann Waterhouse.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Gabrielle Unionism, so maybe it's not so berated after all.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: Like Gabriel.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: Also, they will kill you, where a woman response to a job add to work as a housekeeper in a strange New York City high rise unaware, of course, of the several people that have gone missing there over the years.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: Who's in that Tom Felton?
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: Heather Graham?
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: Speaking of B-rated, I love her granders.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: Heather Graham.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, love her granders.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: She dances, which is a movie about a struggling single father that tries to reconnect with his distant teenage daughter while shaperoning her at a regional dance competition in the south east.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, you dance dad.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: That's gonna hit close to home.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: And then last but not least, we have a movie called Holy Days.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: Three unconventional nuns embark on a last-ditch road trip across New Zealand from north to south on a journey to fight for their independence, nice you go girl set of comedy Sure, yeah, it's a drama comedy.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: So it's a drama on dromity.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: Did ever tell you my sister was gonna be a nun you did, so she found that what none meant right Yeah, yeah
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: That's where you film a drum roll.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: But the drum feel a little bit shut.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: What is it called?
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: Rimshot.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: Rimshot.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, see.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: Be ready to move.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: Here we go.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: How do you not know that?
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: People are going to like think we have no credibility.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: If you don't know what a Rimshot is.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we've already been told by certain members of your family.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_00]: That same thing.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: So now two.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: Possibly two.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: Three.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: Actually, that I think.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I got Jesus Christ.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, my God.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus Christ.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, my God.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus Christ.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, so speaking of that last week we talked about the movie that you were going to review and I did and I will let you have it project Hail Mary, which coincidentally, so on Monday, I think it was, maybe it was Tuesday, I was listening to local radio and I felt bad because a couple people were like, oh my god, it's a great movie and I was like, did I miss out on a good movie, but anyway, I'm going to let you talk all about it because I didn't see it.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well, first of all, I saw a clip that Ryan Gosling was at a movie theater.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_01]: He went to a movie theater and talked about the fact that it took, I think three or four years to make this movie.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: So the script was out there for a long time before they had the technology to be able to do it.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_01]: So I went to go see it.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: Ryan was not at the theater I went to, sadly, there was a guy named Ryan, but he was the guy taking the tickets.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: So I guess Ryan was there in a weird kind of existential way.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, Project Hail Mary.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, when I told Dorsa, she said, what movie you guys watching this week?
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: I said, Project Hail Mary, she said, oh, it's a spiritual movie.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: I said, no, it's not, it's not like, it's not like I can imagine.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: I can only imagine it's not like that.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: She heard Hail Mary and because we're in length, she immediately thought it was religious.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, this movie, sadly, has a lot of flaws.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of flaws, but they're easily overcomeable.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_01]: because is that a new word over a comable?
- 6:36[SPEAKER_01]: And no, it's a real word.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, um, because it's visually a bit no, I bet no webster is rolling in this grave right now.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_01]: He might be, I don't care.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: I never knew him and I never liked them.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's visually pleasant to watch visually.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: It is a treat that's because you have a thing for Ryan Gosling and Ryan Gosling is always kind of fun to watch even in a bad movie.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_01]: He's kind of just a fun guy to watch.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: So so you're saying he's a mushroom.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, those are the two positives to me.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_01]: It sort of felt like ET in reverse.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: Instead of the ET coming here
- 7:18[SPEAKER_01]: The human went to the ET, and I don't want to give anything away, although I have to tell you, there's like a lot of flashbacks in this movie that are completely confusing.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: And there's a lot of technical jargon, like that jargon, that is also going to confuse you if you don't have at least an inkling of calculus.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: It was an interesting storyline.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: I'll give it that with a lot of truth in it.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: a lot of truth to the storyline.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I don't want to give anything away.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_01]: The one of the better parts too was the relationship with the alien was really heartwarming.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: Considering the complete a thousand percent opposites of grinds character and the alien.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: But it was not a bad movie to watch.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: It was a fun movie to watch, you know, you got to do the, uh, what do they say, uh, suspend this belief?
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: When you go to certain kind of movies, this is one where you have to suspend this belief, belief, any beliefs you ever had, uh, your religion, your, uh, upbringing.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: You got to this, you got to suspend everything.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: because it's it's really out there the whole idea of this movie.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: Again, but it's visually was really really good.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: So based on the visual appeal, I'm going to give it a six out of ten.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: Would I watch it again?
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: Probably not.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: I probably wouldn't watch it again.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, I was looking forward to this.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: You heard me say that I was looking forward to this movie.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: I like sci-fi, I like movies with great special effects.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: This one wasn't it.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: But again, visually from beginning to end, it was visually fun to watch.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: So I would say if you like Ryan Goslin, go see it.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: I like him.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: If you like movies that,
- 9:17[SPEAKER_01]: make a little bit of sense, but not a lot of sense, then you're like it, and that's my review.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: All right, so now I don't feel so bad.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, because you didn't really like it that much You would see it again, and then to me that's really to mean it was good, but that's visually that that doesn't talk about anything today's episode is about storylines You're right, so that you didn't say anything this storyline was
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: He's in a verse.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_01]: Accurate.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: Somewhat accurate.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: Somewhat accurate.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_01]: He's in reverse for the overall bud.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: So who's the only idea of the storyline?
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: The reason that this all happens is viable.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: In my opinion.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: So you did something with chickens, right?
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: You reviewed a movie with chickens?
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's not a movie, first of all.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's a TV show.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: TV show with chickens.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: With what?
- 10:23[SPEAKER_01]: Chickens.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: No chickens?
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know where you're going with this, but it doesn't matter.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's on HBO Max.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: So you'll never watch it because you don't have your on the fixed income.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: We know.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: So it's called the rooster.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: Chickens.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: Technically a rooster is a cock, but we aren't going to go there.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, excuse me, right exactly.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: I knew you were going to do this.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: I could feel the setup coming from like the back of the hallway Yes, I was just like, wow, he's setting this up.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: I can't believe it.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: I got married couple now.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_01]: We know what he's been saying.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: You know, sometimes you're predictable.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, thank you You're welcome But you didn't think it was going to say that.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: I did actually you're right.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: So the rooster.
- 11:14[UNKNOWN]: So
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: A colleague of mine asked me to check it out.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: And my first response was after he told me it was Steve Correll.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, oh, I really don't like Steve Correll.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what it is.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe he's, you know, as I've been thinking about it, he has an awkward humor style.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's because he's just awkward to begin with.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: um... which is funny because in this show he actually plays a guy who's awkward he's a dad uh... who basically is an author of a book series that features a character called the rooster
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: And he gets invited to go back to a squad, not in back to him.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: But he gets invited to go to a school to talk about the novel that he's written, probably in some sort of like creative writing class or something like that.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: They don't tell you exactly what the class is called.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: But it's set up against the backdrop of a college campus, which also happens to be a college campus that his daughter teaches at.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not going to give anything else away because there's quite a bit of spoilers that I could be giving away It's three episodes in.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: I believe there's going to be ten episodes total.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, at least that's what they've done so far Steve Corral plays Greg Russo, so he's the title character Danielle.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: That's his name Greg Russo, clean out your ears
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: The Russo or the Russo just get like some sort of anti-doctor who told you that there's nothing wrong with it.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's very beautiful.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_00]: Except for you got some fluid leakage or something like that.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: That explains a lot.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's called the Russo, though.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_01]: Russo, not Russo.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: Are you done?
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm just saying, it's character's name is Russo, correct?
- 13:01[SPEAKER_00]: The character name is Russo.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's Russo.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: The last name is Russo.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_01]: The series is called Russter.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: The show is called the Russter.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: I was just confused.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: Are you with me now?
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: I'm with you.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, good.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: There's a gal by the name of Daniel Deadwiler, who I think is absolutely hilarious.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_00]: Just in the way she, like her comedic delivery, she plays Dillon, who
- 13:32[SPEAKER_00]: In the first episode, and maybe, I don't know, it only three episodes in, but she kind of feels like there's a potential for a love interest there.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, that was a spoiler alert, I guess.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: Charlie Clive plays Greg Russo's daughter, so Steve Correll.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: And then Phil Dunster plays Archie, who is Katie's husband,
- 13:53[SPEAKER_00]: uh... and there's a lot of background that goes on there so there's a whole like subplot that's going on inside of this uh... apart from you know steve carols character being a uh... well-known writer uh... john scene beginly isn't it he plays the principal or uh... the uh... what would you the president of the college i think this would they call them dean
- 14:14[SPEAKER_00]: And I think they call them presidents in certain certain you Dean could be as well, but I think they call them presidents in like smaller schools, okay.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_00]: And then also of note, Alan Ruck is in like two episodes.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and you're looking at me like, why should I know who Alan Ruck is that I should just tell.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, you're looking at me.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_00]: So he's a he was in speed.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_00]: He was the he was in Ferris Bueller's day off.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_00]: He played the the big friend That was kind of like spaced out the one the one who's dad on the car.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's who Who he is
- 14:50[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, so as soon as you see his face, you'll be like, Oh, yeah, I know he is, but most of us know him because he was Ferris's friend in Ferris Bules day off.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: He was the fit the friend who's dead on the Porsche Mazarad here, whatever it was that they proceeded to rock.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'll make sense.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so, but he's in it for a couple of episodes which is kind of interesting and then, you know, he's only in it for two.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_00]: So that's that.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_00]: But it's a great show.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: I am pleasantly surprised.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: As I was told, you can only Monday night, I think it was.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe when I watched the third episode finally, that I was actually laughing at Steve Correll.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: No way.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_01]: You never left for Steve, apparently.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, then I started thinking about stuff.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, you know, he was an Evan Almighty.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_00]: You see, was which was good, which I remember like that.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_00]: I remember laughing.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_00]: I prefer Bruce on mighty morning.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think I might have said this in another episode, but I think Bruce Almighty's a better story overall.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but Evan Almighty was good.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I mean, but we took you know what, and we just translated into like modern day kind of things.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_00]: So I feel there was, I feel Bruce Almighty was more creative than Evan on my first one is put it that way, you know.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_00]: So, but that's, that's the, it didn't come out with Moses on my team.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_00]: That's the long and short of it.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_00]: So I would recommend it.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, we're going to go on a rating scale.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_00]: I'd give it a seven.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_00]: Seven.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: Would I watch it again?
- 16:16[SPEAKER_00]: I went back and watch the first two episodes just to make sure that I kind of didn't miss anything.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_00]: Or if there was any.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_01]: Or if there was any.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_00]: Three.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: For those of you.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: For those of you not paying attention.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_00]: Three.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_00]: So, anyway, or just loving to ask random questions throughout the entire time while I'm talking, I'm not sure exactly what we wish one of them is by somebody might have missed that.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's all.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_00]: You, clearly, somebody else.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, besides me.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_00]: You, sent just me.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone else is listening intently to this podcast.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_00]: Did you know that?
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's what we get intently.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_00]: That's intently.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, intensely.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, that's probably what I meant to say, right?
- 16:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_00]: Just saying.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, check it out.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_00]: If you have HBO Max, if you have that, if you're not in a fixed income, but like you, but if you're not, like the rest of us, I still have rare years in tennis.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you can also go to your, you know, your kid's house.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_00]: And they don't have HBO Max.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure one of them does.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: One of them.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure I'm sure without a doubt.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_00]: that one of them has it because D.C. is featured on HBO Max and I know one of your kids is a comic book fan or at least a superhero movie fan.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm pretty sure that he has a subscription HBO Max.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_00]: I could be wrong and I've know you're texting him now to find out.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll have an answer shortly here.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, but yeah, check out the rooster.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's great.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think you're going to enjoy it.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_00]: It takes an episode or two to kind of get into it.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think by the third episode, the all the actors started it just the third episode just felt like it jelled really well.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_00]: And I think maybe like the actors just finally got into a, I don't know, maybe it was a good piece of an edge, really appealing because it's a, it's a picture shot, yeah, I know clearly because the shaky cam project Hail Mary is all about you.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: I don't pay attention to the camera.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, it is shaky cam.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't pay attention to shaky cam because it doesn't bother me.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_00]: That's a you thing.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_00]: You're good enough bother you because it doesn't bother me.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_00]: What's wrong with you?
- 18:33[SPEAKER_00]: the same thing that's wrong with you.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_00]: So the rooster check it out.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_00]: But the this after so it sounds good.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_01]: Have to admit, does sound like if I had HBL max, I'd watch it.
- 18:45[UNKNOWN]: Okay.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_01]: I may get HBO Max just to watch it.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'll have to give up eating lunch.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: Oh shit!
- 18:51[SPEAKER_01]: Let's excuse me.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'll have to give up lunch.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_01]: There's two meals a day.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you're doing that for Lent anyway, is aren't you?
- 18:58[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_00]: What are you giving up for Lent?
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't give up anything.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: I believe for Lent, you should do things and that give up some.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: Be nicer to people, be, you could, yes, more than you go.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: There you go.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: Nature, things like that.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_00]: How do you become more in tune with nature?
- 19:14[SPEAKER_00]: That's, that's how you become more in tune with nature by imitating a bird.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_01]: You seem to like it.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_01]: They answer back.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_00]: Lumi.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_00]: That's a cricket.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_00]: That's not a bird.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_00]: Jiminy, by Jiminy.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, wow.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_00]: Remember him?
- 19:30[SPEAKER_00]: You need to lay off the drugs.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we madly on the drugs.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, clearly that's what you're on.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, all right, so today's episode is all about storylines.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to talk about a few movies that we feel have some really good storylines.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_00]: Again, this isn't like a be all end all kind of thing.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_00]: We are not experts in any way shape or form.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a couple of movies that we are, well, maybe more.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_00]: You always seem to be the overachiever in this category.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, wow.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_00]: Only two wholly macro two story lines.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_00]: So then why don't you go first?
- 20:05[SPEAKER_01]: Well, do one and then you do the you do one.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: No, you do both of them.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: I do one.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: No, do both of them.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_01]: So my first one is it's not that old of a movie.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's remember the Titans.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_00]: Great story line.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_00]: That's a good one.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_01]: Well acted.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_01]: In any movie, it's hard to outshine an actor like Denzo Washington.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_01]: But I thought, and remember the titans because of the storyline, I thought all of the athletes, specifically the two, the defensive captain, and the offensive captain, I thought those two and the rest of the characters you played, the football players outshone, Denzel in this movie, which I thought was great.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's what one of the things I like about the story, and it didn't make the main character,
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: the main character, it made the other actors to main character and the storyline revolves more about that.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_01]: And I like that.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_01]: So that's my first one, now you do one.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_00]: No, God, finish.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_00]: Do the next one because it might not be a surprise.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_00]: No, God, do the one.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_00]: No, we always do ours to back, to back in a row.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_00]: Fine.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: This is a movie a lot of people aren't going to know.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's called the Forge.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's a movie that was produced and directed by the Kendrick Brothers who've done a bunch of spiritual kind of not like they're not it's not a holy roller movie by any stretch of the imagination it just has a really good moral story
- 21:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't want to give anything away from this movie because I thought it was incredibly well written, incredibly well acted by a bunch of people.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_01]: You probably would never know.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: There's a couple of people you would know, but for the most part, you won't know anybody in this movie.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: And they all did it really well.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: The directing was spot on the storyline, though, was it just really struck me.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: There's one section in particular
- 22:12[SPEAKER_01]: that when it came up, it just was like, wow, for me, which is hard.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_01]: I don't do a lot of wilds.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_00]: So the show is about storyline.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_00]: So what's the storyline?
- 22:23[SPEAKER_00]: Give us something to go on.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's about a young man who is graduating high school.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: and his mom and a mentor talking into joining an organization called The Forge, which is an organization of a group of men who mentor young kids, young young people.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: Most of the people of color, but this could apply to, I mean, you could take this across anything.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_01]: This could be in China, and the relevance of it was still be the same.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I wouldn't be surprised if there was a group where the groups like this all over the world that do this kind of thing and that, that, that pass on this philosophy to young people all the time.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's what the movie's about.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_01]: And obviously the young kid has a turn of events in his life that part of the storyline.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: But there's so much more to the storyline than just that.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_01]: And again, it's just well-acted.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_01]: It moves quickly.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a slow, methodical kind of a,
- 23:35[SPEAKER_01]: for one of a better word, Jesus' movie, it's a well-written, well-acted, well-directed, fast-paced, but a terrific message.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_01]: There's two messages in this movie.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_01]: The second, the subt, the subt of more subtle message, to me, is the message.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_01]: Even though it's not the synopsis of the movie.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: Now you're going to have to watch it and tell me what you thought.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so those are my two, I mean, there's a ton of storyline that are out there that are a great, kind of blank, and a great storyline.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to go all the way back to that, even, you know, to more current, greatest showman, head of great storyline, there's, storylines are, I mean, that there are a lot of great movies, a great storyline.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: I just chose those because those two, I thought,
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: did exactly the storyline, fit the acting and the cinematography and the directing best to me.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: And here I was thinking you were going to pick the godfather.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's a good movie, but I don't know if you're going to like to start it line.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's a storyline that's, you know, it's, uh, it's an old, uh, tried and true storyline.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_01]: They've done that all the way back to when, uh, you know, the first Capone movie is basically the godfather, you know, that come on.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_01]: God, that was like 1950, the same valentine they massacre.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they're all of the same ilk.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_01]: You know, where there's some differences in the Godfather, the Godfather, the two to me had a better storyline because it actually gave you more of the depth, the character of the core of the own, the dad, and then the first one didn't, in my opinion.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_00]: OK, so I stayed, well, I kind of went across the board, but it looks like I seem to have a love for movies from like the 90s, so to speak.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_00]: When I look at when both these movies came out, as a matter of fact, both of these movies came out in the exact same year.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_00]: Right before Y2K.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, one of them is a psychological thriller, which has two pretty well-known actors, one of them more well-known than the other, but a lot of people would say that one of these
- 26:15[SPEAKER_00]: there was a defining role for one of these actors in the movie and then the other one is a great storyline going back to I would say like the 50s, 60s somewhere in that area which you all know that I seem to have a love form movies that are set in that area so we'll start off with the latter of the two it stars Tom Hanks, Michael Clark Duncan,
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_01]: I know what you're going.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_00]: And it is written by one of my favorite authors.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_00]: I have a very, very strong love for Stephen King.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of his work.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_00]: I have fallen in love with read a lot of his stuff.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_00]: Some of the movies I could give or take a few of them, but some of them are actually really good.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_00]: The movie of course that I'm talking about is the Green Mile, which pretty much
- 27:05[SPEAKER_00]: very widely acclaimed for its narrative and its storytelling, it also explores a lot of different themes, we're talking about justice, compassion, even the supernatural, as a matter of fact, and you know what, I think the first time reality too, well I said supernatural, so that includes spirituality, yes it does, supernatural is not spiritual, for those of you,
- 27:32[SPEAKER_00]: That like to call it what you like to call it, supernatural and spirituality are the same thing they're talking about spirits.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_00]: agreed to disagree okay anyway so agreed that you're wrong it is and I will agree that you're wrong so it is rated R so not something the kids can see I it's set I think it's set in the 50s if I remember correctly yes it's been a while since I've seen it but it is a prison movie Tom Hanks is a deathro corrections officer and then Michael Clark Duncan rather plays one of the
- 28:06[SPEAKER_00]: Don't think that was his first, that was made, that man bit his first movie in like a major role, that was not his first movie as far as like some of the other stuff he did.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_00]: He's been in a lot of supporting actor roles throughout his career.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_00]: It's one of the ones he's most known for, but I don't think that was his very first movie.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_00]: I just, I don't know.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_00]: And of course, you got to throw stuff in in the middle of everything, well, I'm trying to find through things.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, no, definitely not as first movie because let's see, there's Green Mile.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_00]: He was in breakfast of Champions before that.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_00]: He was in a night at the Roxbury.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_00]: He was in Armageddon before that.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_00]: So there you go.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_00]: Also in a movie called The Players Club, that was released in 98.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_00]: So definitely not as first movie, but his first movie where he was in a
- 28:55[SPEAKER_00]: major role, I will say, a role where, you know, he probably was on screen for more than like five minutes.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, great story.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_00]: I just said what other movies he was in before that.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm again.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I did.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_00]: Is there an echo in here?
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_01]: You were right.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_00]: I will I will
- 29:25[SPEAKER_00]: All right, my second pick also a film from 1999 with which a lot of people thought should have won more Oscars than it actually did.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_00]: I disagree.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_00]: It was a great storyline, but I don't think it was that like, I don't think it was one of those movies like, oh my god, they should have won an Oscar.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe for cinematography or maybe make up and stuff like that, but this
- 29:55[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, if you don't talk about it.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I didn't care for them.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_00]: Of course you didn't.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't think the storyline was there.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I see.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_00]: And I totally disagree with you.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_01]: The fight club is one of your movies.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, absolutely.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_01]: Are you kidding me?
- 30:09[SPEAKER_00]: You know why?
- 30:10[SPEAKER_00]: Because of the psychological aspect of it and the reality and the and the real time nature of the things that we're going on at that time.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: There was so many better fight movies in that.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's not about fight movies.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's about the story line.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_00]: then you completely miss the story in and of itself because it deals with somebody else's someone's mind and how it shifts to different places and also for that matter, the psychosis that one goes through as well.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's a great storyline.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_00]: You have to dig because it's not there out in the open, but it's actually, it's a great storyline.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_00]: It's
- 30:44[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely great.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_00]: Like I said, it didn't win a lot of awards of Oscars, and it shouldn't have, because it wasn't like, you know, that it is rated R. So again, the kids can't really watch it.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of violence in it, but a lot of anti-social behavior as well.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the draw to it, is that it was one of those movies that wasn't afraid to push the boundaries and to talk about some of the psychological things that are going on in the world at the time.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_00]: Because if you think about it in the 90s, we really didn't talk about mental health that much.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't something that was really out there.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_00]: And I feel like this was one of those movies that kind of opened the doorway to that.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_00]: Because spoiler alert, the main character in the movie is actually thinking about himself.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_00]: in a whole different world.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_00]: So that is my other choice for one of the better storylines out there in cinema.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_00]: So there you go.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_00]: And you can disagree with me all you want.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just, I like the Green Mile, absolutely.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure if I could.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_01]: But I'll give it to you.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_01]: I'll give it to you.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_00]: Like I said, you can disagree with me all you want.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_00]: You have a right to be wrong.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_01]: There's, I mean, there's just, I'm trying to think of the, the Charles Bronson movie where he's, uh, deathwitch.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_01]: Deathwitch?
- 31:57[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: No, he's a, he plays a fight.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you brought this movie up once before, and it was one of those movies where you don't really know, it's not very popular.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's better story line though, in your opinion.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_00]: in that one in your opinion even the Clint Eastwood every which where you can fight movies but it has nothing but but it's not about the fight movie it's about the storyline and it's about what the storyline talks about and Clint Eastwood doesn't talk about psychological stuff those movies didn't deal with that because it wasn't anything it wasn't talked about that he hangs around with an orangutan and really and
- 32:31[SPEAKER_01]: That's pretty psychological.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_00]: What?
- 32:35[SPEAKER_00]: That's called, that's called Replacing Man's Best Friend.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_00]: That's true.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_00]: Which is basically what that particular Ruth Gordon, which is basically what that orangutan did in the movie.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_01]: It was his pat, no, no, his best friend was the other guy that drove off.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_00]: It was his pat in the movie.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's friend though.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, fine.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'll give you five back off.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm fight club.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'll give you.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_00]: You're entitled to your own opinion.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone has them.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_00]: Whether they're dumb or not is, you know, somebody else's opinion.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_00]: So there you go.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_00]: But that's the show folks.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_00]: When you get to watch the forge, I think you're like it.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_00]: You know, while you were talking about that, you reminded me of another movie, but I can't remember the title of it.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_00]: But it was it was it filmed by a a faith-based company.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_00]: It's along the lines of remember the Titans.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's called Remember the Giants, but I don't remember offstop my head.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm gonna have to search for it.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_00]: But huh?
- 33:32[SPEAKER_00]: there you go.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_00]: But it was also, it's a movie about being on a sports team, but there's a lot of faith-based, it's a faith-based storyline and how being on the team kind of helps you learn how to be your camaraderie and what's the word they always like to use in faith-based things.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_00]: Community.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_00]: That's a community.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_00]: Fellowship and community.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_00]: That's that's the word I was looking
- 34:02[SPEAKER_00]: I never said they're was.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it is facing the giant.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_00]: It's called, it's called facing the giants.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_00]: That's what it's called.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_00]: It came out in 2006, and let's see if I can see the publishing company or whatever.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it's a Kendrick's brother's production as well.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_00]: Sure would pictures is what I was thinking of.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_00]: So there you go, another Kendrick's Brothers movie, but a different one, facing the giants is what it's called.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_00]: I used to own a copy.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_00]: Actually, I want it.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_00]: One of the first things I ever want off a radio, but anyway, yeah.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_00]: So there you go.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the show.
