- Tita Lors: Yay! So funny story, as we were doing that and I'm like swaying, I'm like, dizzy. Robin Axline: Hmm. Yeah. Tita Lors: Maybe I'm not getting enough oxygen. So I've been like checking the oxygen reader on my phone and then I have the actual oxygen reader for the girls. So I'm like checking myself. And with my big I've learned that if your oxygen level is below ninety-five percent, you should probably go to urgent care. And if it's like less than like ninety-three, you should definitely go to the ER. Especially if it's like a kid, because your brain, your body is obvious is not getting enough oxygen. and I was like, interesting, interesting. so I checked mine on my phone, it's like eighty something percent and I'm like, I'm gonna die I'm not getting enough oxygen. So I I checked the the other reader for the finger. And that was like ninety-three and I was like, well, i I'm gonna die. I'm not getting enough oxygen. no. Maybe I should go to the doctor. Robin Axline: Hmm, now it makes me want to get one of those pulse oximeters or whatever they're called. Yeah. Tita Lors: and like when there's wheezing and all of that stuff and and all of that, but but the Pulse Ox beaters are they make it really, really clear what's happening. And then they make me panic that much more 'cause I was like, that's too high. That's like double what it should be. Holy schnitz. Let's go. Yeah. Robin Axline: No. It's like when you get in a WebMD hole or whatever and just like maybe it says click click click click two hours later. Tita Lors: I know. And I've got cancer. Robin Axline: Yeah. That's always the always the one. Tita Lors: Yep, yeah. Definitely was terrible. If you've never had it. One, if you've ever had pneumonia, it makes it easier for you to get it again. but yeah. And it's contagious apparently. Like one there's like different kinds of pneumonia and I've had both and one of them's contagious. and then I think like immediately after that I went on vacation with other people and I was still sick. I didn't even realise that I had pneumonia that time and somebody else on that trip, they ended up I think they got it too. Yeah, I was like, sorry guy, I didn't know. I ended up having to go to the hospital. Robin Axline: Sorry guys. Tita Lors: I like in the middle of that trip I ended up having to go to the hospital actually. Yeah, I was like, man. Yeah. In in Alaska we drove like an hour or two away just to get to that hospital. And that was after I went like ice climbing. Yeah, like we we did all of these like we were on a what's it called? Not an iceberg, a No. It's like the part of the ice that's like moving. Anyways, whatever. My brain is not functioning because I'm not getting enough oxygen, like I said. But Robin Axline: Circling back to that, yes. Tita Lors: Yeah, so one of those things and so we went ice climbing, almost died because my brain wasn't functioning and then after that I was like, Yeah, I think I gotta go to the hospital. It just got worse. I exerted myself too much because I I wanted to experience this trip. It was so fun. but yeah. Don't do that guys. Go to the go to the doctor. Robin Axline: Go to the doctor before your ice climbing in. Tita Lors: Yeah, before you go ice climbing. my goodness. Yeah. Thank you. Robin Axline: Yikes. Well I'm glad you're here today. Tita Lors: Me too. I'm so happy. I got some pretty cool pictures from that. I'll show you someday. Yeah. Okay. So firstly I want to say thank you to whoever is listening in France and Singapore. What's up? Yeah, there are people in France and Singapore who regularly listen. They are I think like eleven percent of the listeners, which isn't a lot because we maybe have like anywhere from six to ten people who regularly listen to the episodes. yeah. So right now we're this is gonna be episode twelve that should have come out. Sorry, I was sick. So and a lot of stuff was happening. So the episode for the week we're in right now didn't come out. I'll do a double next week. So but whenever this one comes out, we'll be in like the twenties. So thank you to those listeners and to all of the people here in America who are listening as well. you know. Yes. We don't get we don't have Germany yet, I think. Yes. Yeah. Robin Axline: Okay. It'll happen. Maybe by the time this episode drops. Tita Lors: Maybe. Yeah. Also, isn't Avita saying goodbye? Yeah, we'll get there. Anyways, we love you. Thanks for listening. Keep listening, hopefully. Robin Axline: What more? Tita Lors: Yes. tell us what your favorite episodes are so far. What do you want to hear from us? What's it gonna take for you to tell us your petty stories? All that jazz. and for you, Robin, my question is what's your favorite chocolate ever? Mm-hmm. It's also healthy better for you health wise. Yeah. Robin Axline: you go. I'd say my ultimate would be like a good like Neuhaus, like a Belgian chocolate, like a praline or something. in the US, one that seems to be okay so far as the Tony's Chocolone brand. pretty d pretty decent and it doesn't have that American like Bernie Sanders burn. Like a lot of those ones Tita Lors: Yeah. It's Robin Axline: here just so wet anyways. Tita Lors: Yeah. Yeah, no, it's definitely I stopped actually eating milk chocolate because the flavor of American milk chocolate is just so meh. and I I wanted to look into like C's candy. Caes candy was my favorite milk chocolate. yeah, but then they like changed things. My favorite chocolate bar, they don't even have any more. And they made them smaller and cost more. I'm like, What the what is happening? Yeah. You could buy like a Robin Axline: I love those. For people that aren't watching, my jaw is literally on the ground. I love those. Tita Lors: Yeah, exactly. Those were my favorite. And I used to like look forward to fundraising season because I could buy a whole bunch and just have those. Robin Axline: I love C's to this day still. Like I I do like those, scotch mallows, if it's the dark chocolate one. I like those like they're like a bar, they're like toffee chips in the dark chocolate. I like honeycomb. And then Tita Lors: Yes. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Love those. Yes. Robin Axline: at Saint Patrick's Day the Irish potatoes are Chef's Kiss. That's not particularly chocolate it's like covered in cocoa, but nuke it. It's good. Anywho. Tita Lors: Mhm. Yeah. I don't like getting the like the assorted things where you don't know what it is. Because yeah, exactly. I I can't forest gump that shit. I need to know what I'm gonna get. Yeah. So Robin Axline: Totally. I need to know what I'm gonna get. Life's too short. Tita Lors: Exactly. So I'll pick my box for myself. And it's usually almost the same things every single time. I don't really like those nickgety ones. and I'm always scared I'm gonna get some kind of like fruit filled or coconut flavored thing, and those are not my favorites. But yes. So neither of us mentioned Hershey's chocolate. Robin Axline: No, he did not. Tita Lors: Nope! Hold on. Wait, wait, look. We could do this thing now. which one is it? Nope. Never mind. I thought there was maybe a buzzer. Meh. Robin Axline: I didn't know Hershey's made that. Rim shot. Dope. Tita Lors: That's not what I was looking for. I was looking for a buzzer. There's no buzzer. Never mind. Yeah, lame. Good. Put one on there. Okay. So meh. Okay, anyways. let's see. Three musketeers. Yeah. celebrations? Okay. dove. Robin Axline: I'm gonna say Mars, but yeah, that's it. what? Crazy. Tita Lors: Yes, you're right. Robin Axline: Okay. Tita Lors: Yeah. Alright. Cadbury. Yeah. yeah, nice job. Okay. What about Hubba Bubba? Yeah. Or actually here, I'll give you two. And you tell me which one is Mars and which one is Hershey's. Hubba Bubba versus bubble yum. Robin Axline: Cool. it's I I'm just gonna go wild Mars Hubba Baba and bubble yum Hershey's. What? Okay. Okay. This is crazy. Tita Lors: Yeah, go you! Yes! You are so good at this game. Okay, Heath. I was like, you better get this one. Robin Axline: I know I mean that one's pretty anyway. Outer spacey. Tita Lors: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Ooh, check you out. Robin Axline: What damn. Tita Lors: Okay, let's I no, we'll stay in the chocolate realm. I was gonna start getting into other places because these brands also don't just make chocolate. They make like snacks and stuff. And and then Mars is it's not just snacks, it's like, you know, Kevin's natural foods. Have you seen those? I don't know if you've ever seen it. You're vegetarian, it's mostly non vegetarian's products, but like Kevin's is a Mars product and it's like food food. they Mars is also involved in like pet food brands. Yeah, like where is it? Whatever Anacura is, API, I think. where is it? Banfield Hospital if you use that. the this that is it's for Banfield f it's a vet hospital, it's a pet hospital. Yeah. IMS is Mars. Yeah. veterinary well that makes sense veterinary health clinic master food my animal cat or dog dna so mars incorporated is involved in a lot of stuff like for animals and humans so that was interesting yeah so I was like interesting interesting but that is not what we're talking about today Robin Axline: my gosh. What are we talking about? We talking chocolate? Tita Lors: We are talking about we are talking we are talking chocolate. We are indeed. Robin Axline: Mm-hmm. Tita Lors: So you kind of touched on this earlier, but have you ever wondered why Hershey's chocolate tastes so different from any other chocolates? Or do you know why potentially? Robin Axline: It would probably be amazing. What are you talking about? It probably wouldn't be like as waxy. Tita Lors: I don't know. That's fair. 'Cause it's such a it's such an iconic flavor to have it with Hershey's versus like a a better standard chocolate. So like when I think of an iconic s'more, it's a Hershey bar. Yeah. Okay. Robin Axline: Whoa. That's pretty extreme. Okay. Tita Lors: I know, right? So mm experts, in quotes, they think it's because one of the byproducts that Hershey's that their production, like how they make chocolate, a by product of that is a component called butyric acid. And that's also a component that's found in like parmesan cheese and butter and potentially vomit. Yeah. So that gives it that more tangy flavor. And it's something about yeah, it's something about like how they how they process their chocolate so that it's more probably shelf stable, I think. multiple companies that failed. So you know, if at first you don't succeed, try, try again and again and again and again. so this one comes from the original or one of the original businesses and it's the Lancaster Comp Caramel Company, which wasn't a failure, but he ended up going in 18 let's see, no. So Lancaster Caramel Company founded in 1883. and then he went And he said, what is it? He said, caramels are a fad, chocolate's like forever or some shit like that. I don't know. I didn't write down the thing, but I know. Robin Axline: Yeah. Tita Lors: so he created that. And then in nineteen seven he introduced in quotes, a new candy. It was flat-bottomed, cone-shaped and bite-sized, wrapped in an aluminum foil. Which Lisa? Yes. Do you know what that is? I can do that. never mind, you've said it already. Yeah. Robin Axline: please. No, Hershey's Kisses. I did it. my bad. Yeah. Who could forget the iconic Christmas commercial that comes every single year, the handbells and the little Hershey's Kisser goes shoo at the end. Tita Lors: Yes, exactly. Yep. Yes. So it's a Hershey's Kiss, named because of the way the chocolate kisses the bottom of the foil or whatever and gives it its iconic shape. If you can hear stuff in the background, I don't have ghosts. Well I do have ghost, I think, but that particular sound is my children not wanting to take their nap. Robin Axline: Thought you were recording from a zoo or something. Tita Lors: Sounds like it. I might as well be sometimes. Okay, no one's being murdered. It's just my little refusing to take a nap. So they allegedly in nineteen seven introduced this new candy. It was the Hershey's Kiss. And this brings us to our first controversy. do you think that they were actually the first to create this new candy? Robin Axline: The well now that you framed it as a controversy, I'm gonna say no, but originally I might have said yes. I probably would have said Tita Lors: But previously. Uh-huh. Robin Axline: yes, because it's I'd never seen that before. Tita Lors: Yeah, okay. So we're gonna talk about H.O. Wilbur and Sons. Yes, so this venture originated once again from another venture. in eighteen sixty-five, Henry Oscar Wilbur and his business partner Samuel Croft took advantage of the rise of railroads and they began producing molasses and hard candies for passengers. Right? Very similar. the Wilbur bud was created by dropping chocolate into a mold and that's how you get the bottom of it where it's got like the Wilbur on the bottom, but it's got s yeah, right? But still similar cone shape with a little bloop at the end. I have no idea what it's called. But yes. so three generations later, in nineteen five Robin Axline: tight. I thought I was gonna ask you, I like, well how do they package it? Tita Lors: Mm. Wilbur buds are still in commission, like they're still being made. You have to buy them online. Yeah. And they do have a store. I feel like we should visit it. It's probably in like a similar area because both of these companies wait, no, maybe not. I didn't look into this. Yeah, I think they're both in Pennsylvania. Or maybe not. Actually I didn't look that up. Because I was looking up something else. Okay, so there is another controversy that's completely separate from this one. I'm just going to quickly mention it and then we're gonna play a game. so did you know that Hershey's also made ice cream? Don't bother looking it up. They don't. It's a completely different It was. Robin Axline: that was a trick question. Tita Lors: That question actually is the topic of like many, many lawsuits. because and like a very, very tumultuous relationship between Hershey's company and Hershey Creamer Company. Yeah, they're two completely different companies. And it one makes chocolate and the other one makes ice cream and they have no affiliation with each other. They just kind of make products in the same place and started in the same year. So people keep getting them confused. And Hershey kept getting a lot of like inquiries and like questions about ice cream and whether or not they made ice cream and blah blah blah. And finally he like, Shut the fuck up about the ice cream. We don't make ice cream Why what? Yeah. Well, because Hershey Company didn't want to be affiliated with the ice cream company and he just kept getting inquiries about like their ice cream and he's like, That has nothing to do with us. Stop talking to us. And he wanted it to be separated. And it was like we this is our name, trademark TM TM TM. You can't use it. So Hershey didn't like that. Mm-hmm. Because apparently Hershey Company had more money, so they're sad. I know, right? Robin Axline: Sounds like they got a lot of money. Tita Lors: Okay. this might end up being a super short episode, which is fine because I'm coughing. are you ready to play trivia? Robin Axline: huh. Tita Lors: Yay. I know you recently went to Trivia, so it kind of gave me the idea for this. Okay. Robin Axline: That's cool. Yeah. I got a twenty five dollar gift certificate to dispensary. I won. Yeah. Yeah. Tita Lors: nice. You so you won? Woo. Robin Axline: Of course. Tita Lors: Yay. Okay, so here is okay, so blah blah. Mm this chocolate company in nineteen forty-one was a means for soldiers to enjoy chocolate without it melting. sorry, not company. This chocolate was created in nineteen forty-one as a means for soldiers to enjoy chocolate without it melting. Robin Axline: I know, I I'm assuming that it's an inn, the toll house. sweet. Tita Lors: Yes. Mm-hmm. Robin Axline: Tol Toll House, yeah, chocolate chip cookies. Tita Lors: Yeah. Mm-hmm, exactly. So fun fact, the name of this inn is now a generic word for chocolate chip cookies. It is the most popular cookie worldwide and is the official cookie of Massachusetts. Massachusetts. Mm-hmm, yeah. Okay, this chocolate bar used to come in three pieces to a package, but the price of strawberries led them to switch to only the chocolate bar. Robin Axline: Hello. Whoa. That's cool. I wish they would bring that back. Well, it's not gonna taste good anyways, 'cause the chocolate's so bad now. It probably was good. Yeah. Tita Lors: I know, I was like, Yeah. they they could try. I don't think anybody would want it. Okay, so this horror film or horror movie film maker used chocolate syrup for an infamous shower scene. And then bonus point if you can name the movie. Yaaaa Okay, the average person will consume this many chocolate bars in a lifetime. Give me a rough estimate, and if you get close, I'll give it to you. Ugh, double it. Robin Axline: Whoa, ten thousand? wow. That's a lot of chocolate bars. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. I know. It's a lot of I'm like, are we counting the mini chocolate bars? Or Robin Axline: Yeah. Tita Lors: just the full size chocolate bars? Or do like this many mini chocolate bars add up to one full size chocolate bar? How are we doing this math? Mm-hmm. And how do MMs factor into this? Robin Axline: Right, right, yeah. Maybe they're just kinda adding it all together. Yeah. Tita Lors: Like I need more information of how you're getting this information. Okay, what country eats the most chocolate per capita than any other nation on earth? I think you're correct. Yep, you are. So fun fact the country whose people eat the most chocolate per capita than any other nation on earth is Switzerland, with twenty two pounds eaten per person each year. I know, how many chocolate bars is that? Robin Axline: I don't know, unless you're like buying those Trader Joe's ones by the pound. I don't know. Those are so good. Yeah. No. Tita Lors: my gosh, yeah, those are huge. Also, is that what you're talking about? Okay. Australia and Ireland follow with twenty pounds and nineteen pounds per person respectively. And the United States comes in at 11th place with approximately twelve pounds of chocolate eaten by each person every year. Yeah, I'm yeah, I was expecting United States to be a lot higher. Yes, I have. Those are actually really good. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. They have them at five below, like the little mini bites, so you don't have to get the full bar. It's just a little it's like a bag of like individually wrapped ones. I'm so tempted to get it, but I'm a little bit sugared out right now, so I didn't buy it. Yeah, so five below everyone. Alright, true or false. Theobramine, the principal alkaloid of a cacao bean that is poisonous and potentially lethal to dogs, can also be lethal for humans. Mm. Yes. Yeah. Okay. fun fact, never give a dog chocolate as it contains theobramine. I'm probably saying that hella wrong, but whatever. it is a s it's a central nervous system stimulant. a chocolate bar is poisonous to dogs and can even be lethal. As little as two ounces of chocolate can kill a small dog. theobramine can kill a human as well. You'd have to be real gluttonous to go out this way as a lethal dose of chocolate for a human being is about twenty-two pounds or four Hershey's bars. hey that answered my question earlier. sorry did I say four Hershey bars? Forty Hershey bars. Robin Axline: Yep. I was like, it's only takes four? Whoa. Tita Lors: Yeah, no, no, forty, sorry. That's my listen. I'm not getting oxygen right now. Stay still. Don't talk. One hundred percent I'm not dying. Robin Axline: Yay, Lora's alive, everybody. Tita Lors: what I've been doing. Maybe we'll miss it. It'll be fine. She hardly uses hers either. Except for when she's sick. Okay. this airport is the biggest chocolate cellar in the world. Robin Axline: Mm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm. Biggest chocolate cellar. I was gonna say Switzerland again, but I'm gonna go with I don't know what the airport in Belgium is called, but I'm gonna guess whatever the airport in Belgium is, because they make really good chocolate and people like it. Tita Lors: Is Brussels? Where's Brussels? Anyways, okay. Look at you. You are so smart. I know as you were saying that I Robin Axline: Belgium, Belgique, tada No Tita Lors: was like, I'm pretty sure she's right. Yeah. Robin Axline: Dang, that's tight. I yeah. Huh. Crazy. Tita Lors: Yeah, so the Brussels airport is the biggest chocolate seller in the world as vendors there sell more than eight hundred tons of chocolate every year. Yeah. How many how many Hershey's bars is that? Robin Axline: huh. Tita Lors: my goodness. Okay. Dee doo doo. Okay, two more questions. This chocolate egg is the most popular chocolate in the UK. Robin Axline: in the UK. gonna say kinder egg because when I went there I ate a bunch of those when I was a kid, but I'm gonna go Cadbury. Yay! my gosh. I didn't know I knew so much about chocolate or whatever this topic is. chocolate okay. Tita Lors: You are correct. my gosh. I think so far you've only got one wrong. I know. Check you out. No wonder. Chocolate? Yeah. It is. It's chocolate trivia. Okay. the this chocolate bar was actually named for the malted milkshake whose flavor they originally intended to mimic. Rather than Robin Axline: Well that kind of gives it away, I think. 'Cause when you said malted, I was gonna say milk duds, but now or I mean whoppers, but it's Milky Way. Or yeah, Milky Way. Tight. Tita Lors: You Milky Way. Yup. Woo woo. Did you guys get ten out of ten? Did you beat Robin? I bet you didn't. Robin Axline: guys probably did. Y'all are smart. You listen to us. Tita Lors: So if you want more chocolate trivia, I got all of that from a website called thechocolatewebsite.com. So you go to the chocolate website.com slash chocolate trivia and they will give you a whole bunch of facts about chocolate and jokes about chocolate. Yeah, do you want to hear one since we have time? okay. These these are not vetted. What kind of chocolate or hm never mind, I just hold on. We're not doing that. I just gave you I'm so horrible, this is why I'm not a comedian. I'm gonna say it anyways. Robin Axline: Next. Tita Lors: What kind of candy is never on time? Robin Axline: No, that's not I don't know. Go ahead. Tita Lors: Choco laith. Robin Axline: boom. Wow. That's a good one. Tita Lors: Okay, okay. knock knock. Robin Axline: the horror. Tita Lors: I know, right? Okay, this one's silly. If Jake has thirty chocolate bars and eats twenty-five, what does Jake have? Cool. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Diabetes. Jake has diabetes. Or or he got poisoned because right you need like Yeah 40 okay he's halfway to being poisoned. Robin Axline: Whoa. Better watch out for Jake. Check in on him. Tita Lors: I know. I know. Make sure he doesn't eat another twenty or so bars, this guy. Okay. I don't know if this is like a story, if I'm supposed to tell the whole thing or not. But but let's find out. Okay. An elderly man lay dying in his bed. In death's agony, he suddenly smelled the aroma of his favorite chocolate chip cookies wafting up the stairs. Gathering his remaining strength, he lifted himself from the bed. He slowly made his way out of the bedroom and with even greater effort forced himself down the stairs, gripping the railing with both hands. With labored breathing, he leaned against the door, gazing into The chicken. Chicken. Kitchen. My brain is so messed up. Gazing into the kitchen. Were it not for Death's agony, he would have thought himself already in heaven. There, spread out on the kitchen table were hundreds of his favorite chocolate cookies, chocolate chip cookies. Mustering one final effort, he threw himself toward the table. His aged and withering hand painstakingly made its way toward a cookie when it was suddenly smacked by a spatula. Stay out of those, said his wife. They're for the funeral. God, it's so messed up. man. and on that note, everyone We're gonna start talking about glimmers. What's your glimmer, Robin? Robin Axline: you know, actually I was telling you I don't I think it was off air about the concert I attended this week and how the main performer, I'm gonna throw her under the bus here. No, just kidding. Kim Gordon Tita Lors: Ha ha ha. Robin Axline: last minute didn't show was a no-show for the show. And it was her sideband Body Head and her bandmate was there. So he played an improved set with another person that they collaborate with quite often. And inspired that the artist handled it with such grace to just play and like n on with the show kind of thing, but also that the audience was the real the real ones were super appreciative of it and it was just handled so nicely. Like the vibe was calm even though people were disappointed. So I keep thinking about that this week. Tita Lors: Yeah. It's it's better sweet 'cause it's kind of upside down and I didn't notice it when she was putting it on. But I think it works out actually really well. because it's not for me to see, it's for other people to see, I think. I like had her do some last minute changes and I didn't see that the script I forgot to ask her to flip that upside down. Yeah, or that just flip it. So like you can see it, it's the correct way if you're looking this way, but if you're looking from this it's not. So Robin Axline: You'll just have to walk on your hands. No. Tita Lors: So we have been married now for like five-ish years, I guess. And my family member, this the one who's visiting, has never met my my husband. So I was it they're like, he's just like an AI husband that you're posting. You hire him whenever you bring him to family functions. so he's like a husband for hire. So they finally got to meet my husband for hire. so that was also and I got to meet their kids. Like there's they have their two youngest or their youngest youngest kids who I haven't met yet because it's been a while since they've seen them. So it was so great and we get to see them again today and I'm so excited. Yeah. Yeah. and then like Robin Axline: Right. Yeah. That's awesome to have like those connections and be able to get the time to do that. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Yeah. And then you and I apparently are gonna watch Hilary Duff in August. Potentially. Robin Axline: Yeah, apparently. it's gonna be a blast. We'll have to report report back to y'all. And we're gonna go to like some chocolate factories apparently also. Tita Lors: experience. but yeah I think that we should visit Wilbur Buds or Wilbur and Sons, yeah. And then do like a report back of you know how does it actually taste. Robin Axline: Yeah. I wonder if we could get some more tea if we do like a tour. We could press the tour guide for the tea. Yeah. Tita Lors: Yeah, tell me everything. Why didn't you sue more? How like did they have more money? On the ground journalism. But I know exactly. But like Robin Axline: That's what y'all are here for, right? So we'll deliver. Tita Lors: centuries away from like what actually happened. Robin Axline: my god. They'll be like, You guys are the most intense people we've ever had on a tour. Tita Lors: Why are you here? Robin Axline: I just want to say as you kind of start to climb towards the end of summer, I hope y'all had a nice, relaxing time at some point. And also, it just came to me that if you have some connections that doesn't trigger you or anything like that that you might want to just revisit like Laura is doing with her fam or maybe family members that haven't met your little family or don't know much about you, just like maybe just send a nice little text or a card or just to let people know that you're thinking about them. Because People don't get that anymore as often. People aren't as like vulnerable to just say like, hey, what's how are you doing? or this is what I'm up to. And sometimes it can be pro fruitful, so Tita Lors: Mm. Yeah, you actually just reminded me. So my my dad, like my birth dad, he, had a brother and we're not gonna get into the history of like why you don't talk to that side of family, but I recently just reached out 'cause I actually wanna do a tattoo that's like like a traditional Filipino tattoo. would need to know things about my dad and since he died when I like seven months old I don't because I have reasons for that. But like, can you just tell me about where my dad grew up and what he was like 'cause I don't know anything about him. And maybe through that I'm debating having an actual relationship with this person. If I can get over like my dad died, but what we do have in common is my dad. So tell me about him and maybe through that connection, you know, maybe you and I can have a connection. But again, it took me years to get to a point of like wanting to do that. And and like you said, like it's it's whatever. I don't know how it's gonna make them feel, but it's they thirty years later decided that they did want to have a relationship with me and now that I'm in a different place I'm like, okay a decade later, I was like, Okay, maybe we can try. So Robin Axline: Yeah, well good for you for taking that little tiptoe or step just to kind of like feel the vibe or just see if there's anything. but again, you know, there's no obligation to become attached to it whatsoever. I mean if it happens, great. If not. Tita Lors: Yeah. And hopefully at the very least I'll get some information or a story about my dad out of this. And a really cool tattoo. Yeah, well, I mean, since I've told the story here, I'll just tell it on mic too, but what is. we'll see how that ends up unfolding. but yes, I'm so glad that I did not hack my lungs out in this one like I did in our last episodes. Yay! The albuterol is working. Go to the doctor if you're feeling sick, everyone. Robin Axline: if you have asthma, tell us your asthma story. What do you do to cope with it? Tita Lors: I know. how do you deal with it? 'Cause I honestly don't ever have to deal with it unless I'm sick. so it always catches me by surprise. Or how do you know it's an asthma attack versus like actually being sick? 'Cause I didn't make the connection with the coughing and the asthma. The only reason why I did, again, which I told you Robin earlier is that like for my daughter the coughing is connected to her asthma attacks. and Robin Axline: If you have that experience, tell us about that too. I I've heard like a couple stories fairly recently about later in life ADHD diagnosed women who took their child to get checked out and then in the midst of all that found out that they were ADHD as well.
