- 2:15SPEAKER_06: Uh I don't know, man.
- 2:17SPEAKER_06: You got me.
- 2:18SPEAKER_06: Maybe I'm just imagining it.
- 2:19SPEAKER_03: It's probably something like within deep the research.
- 2:24SPEAKER_06: No, it's like from a TV show or kids in the hall.
- 2:30SPEAKER_03: Is it uh Monty Python, the Holy Grail?
- 2:33SPEAKER_03: What what what are they?
- 2:34SPEAKER_13: Bring out Jadad!

- 2:40SPEAKER_06: Uh I bet you cousin Larry can think of what it is.
- 2:42SPEAKER_06: He probably will.
- 2:43SPEAKER_06: He'll probably be like, oh yes, we got I got something uh to think about with cousin Larry.
- 2:48SPEAKER_06: We got a we got a letter and a check from from your cousin today.
- 2:51SPEAKER_06: Yay, cousin Larry! Um so cousin Larry, our only paying sponsor.
- 2:55SPEAKER_06: Uh uh, and that's the that's what I have to to discuss here with you for a second.
- 3:01SPEAKER_06: Because I think it's I think it's kind of I don't know, interesting.
- 3:05SPEAKER_06: But let me read his letter first.
- 3:07SPEAKER_06: Uh hey guys, podcast is awesome as always, keeps me laughing and informed and just plain happy.
- 3:12SPEAKER_06: I can't wait for it to go big time.
- 3:15SPEAKER_06: Big time.
- 3:15SPEAKER_06: I know Olivia will be amazing.
- 3:18SPEAKER_06: You guys are the best.
- 3:20SPEAKER_06: Cousin Larry.
- 3:20SPEAKER_06: PS pre-ordered cheap tricks, new album, and spinal taps.
- 3:24SPEAKER_08: Woo-hoo!
- 3:24SPEAKER_06: Yes, yes.
- 3:25SPEAKER_06: So we uh of course we give value valuable information about upcoming releases that uh uh cousin Larry takes to heed.
- 3:32SPEAKER_03: So we we do disseminate information.
- 3:34SPEAKER_03: A little bit, yeah.
- 3:35SPEAKER_03: A little bit.
- 3:36SPEAKER_03: That's good.
- 3:36SPEAKER_03: Good for us.
- 3:37SPEAKER_06: So what I was thinking about after I realized that I got this uh in the mail today is cousin Larry is paying to be a part of this podcast.
- 3:50SPEAKER_06: What I mean is he's paying to be the voice of the case.
- 3:53SPEAKER_06: Not really, because he was paying before we put him on.
- 3:55SPEAKER_06: Well, that's true, but now I mean we we we have his voice on there.
- 3:59SPEAKER_06: We should be paying him.
- 4:01SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah, I shouldn't say that too loud.
- 4:03SPEAKER_03: Well, we'll just edit that out.
- 4:08SPEAKER_06: But we we had we had asked him to to to do some image voice voice imaging for the podcast, and we just last week, I think, asked him to refresh it.
- 4:18SPEAKER_06: And did we?
- 4:19SPEAKER_06: Or did we just put it on the podcast and expect him to Well no no, he reached out to me.
- 4:24SPEAKER_06: Oh, he did, okay.
- 4:24SPEAKER_06: Yeah, he would like some guidance, and I'll I'll I'll give him some guidance.
- 4:27SPEAKER_06: But but we we kind of asked him to do it and and I'm he's more than happy to do it, but then he sends a check.
- 4:35SPEAKER_06: It's like here's some money.
- 4:38SPEAKER_06: I'll do your voice as soon as possible, Master.
- 4:40SPEAKER_03: You know, I mean it's well I think we're kind of like um a charity.
- 4:45SPEAKER_03: Maybe maybe he's getting like maybe he's gonna tax write off tax tax write off for us.
- 4:49SPEAKER_03: I sponsor two two two dumb kids, two imbeciles.
- 4:55SPEAKER_03: They live in the middle of nowhere, and they live in a basement and they need help.
- 5:02SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 5:02SPEAKER_06: Um so anyway, I I say all that to say thank you, cousin Larry.
- 5:08SPEAKER_06: He's the best, man.
- 5:09SPEAKER_06: You are the best.
- 5:10SPEAKER_06: Um and our judgeness is also gonna do some voice work for us.
- 5:15SPEAKER_06: Yes, she said she would.
- 5:16SPEAKER_03: She said she would.
- 5:17SPEAKER_03: Okay, cool.
- 5:17SPEAKER_03: I I think she needs some guidance.
- 5:19SPEAKER_03: Guidance as well.
- 5:19SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 5:20SPEAKER_06: So I'll I'll I'll mull it all out.
- 5:22SPEAKER_06: I'll have to send it to you because you'll have to send it to her.
- 5:25SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 5:25SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 5:25SPEAKER_06: I'm the middleman.
- 5:27SPEAKER_06: You can give her guidance.
- 5:28SPEAKER_03: Well, I don't know what you want, so I just want I think she should do something with mixtape, you know, something like instead of me doing my thing.
- 5:35SPEAKER_03: Like introduce mixtape?
- 5:36SPEAKER_03: That's what I'm saying.
- 5:37SPEAKER_03: Instead of me doing it, it have her do it.
- 5:39SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 5:40SPEAKER_03: I think that would be best.
- 5:40SPEAKER_06: That would be fantastic.
- 5:41SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 5:42SPEAKER_06: Well, not only that, but I'd like to get I'd like to get her, I'd like to get cousin Larry just doing some really quick O'Brien and Duck.
- 5:50SPEAKER_06: You know, that was quick.
- 5:51SPEAKER_06: Things like that.
- 5:52SPEAKER_03: O'Brien and Duck.
- 5:52SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so we can O'Brien and Poncho.
- 5:54SPEAKER_06: So we can so we can segue into things in a cooler fashion.
- 5:59SPEAKER_06: Or the O'Brien and Duck Show.
- 6:01SPEAKER_03: Or O'Brien and Poncho Show.
- 6:03SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 6:03SPEAKER_06: The O'Brien and Poncho Show.
- 6:04SPEAKER_03: The O'Brien and Poncho.
- 6:05SPEAKER_03: That's hard to say.
- 6:07SPEAKER_06: The O'Brien and Poncho Podcast Show.
- 6:09SPEAKER_03: Podcast show.
- 6:11SPEAKER_06: You know what I'm saying.
- 6:12SPEAKER_06: I do.
- 6:13SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 6:14SPEAKER_06: I gotcha.
- 6:15SPEAKER_06: So uh we'll uh address that as as it gets closer.
- 6:18SPEAKER_06: But um Fries are up.
- 6:20SPEAKER_06: Uh a couple of things on ultimate classicrock.com.
- 6:23SPEAKER_06: Actually, did you have anything else?
- 6:24SPEAKER_06: Actually, no, before we go on, I do have to tell you that my daughter, Myra, sixth grade, she had uh that might have been her that walked in.
- 6:36SPEAKER_06: I'm not sure.
- 6:37SPEAKER_06: Well, I heard noises.
- 6:38SPEAKER_06: So did I.
- 6:38SPEAKER_06: So did I.
- 6:39SPEAKER_06: Um I'm not sure if they're back yet, but they were ha they had a game up in Madawaska.
- 6:42SPEAKER_06: Madawaska.
- 6:43SPEAKER_06: Uh today.
- 6:44SPEAKER_06: First day of school, she had to leave early to go play a soccer game.
- 6:47SPEAKER_06: Hey, that's the best one.
- 6:48SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 6:49SPEAKER_06: That's the best, man.
- 6:50SPEAKER_06: I'm not gonna be here all day.
- 6:52SPEAKER_06: So I don't know how her first day went, I guess is was my point.
- 6:55SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 6:55SPEAKER_06: Uh her first day of middle school.
- 6:57SPEAKER_06: Uh so I'm hoping to talk to her about it soon.
- 6:59SPEAKER_06: But I will tell you, they lost their game.
- 7:02SPEAKER_06: That's too bad.
- 7:05SPEAKER_06: That's not bad.
- 7:06SPEAKER_06: She scored two goals.
- 7:08SPEAKER_06: Noise! Yeah.
- 7:09SPEAKER_06: So I so I'm I'm sure the loss is pretty tough, but the fact that she scored two goals and she's been she's been so close.
- 7:16SPEAKER_06: They only started the season last week.
- 7:18SPEAKER_06: And she's had like I I don't know how many assists.
- 7:21SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 7:22SPEAKER_06: Uh on you know, they they've won ever since.
- 7:25SPEAKER_06: Uh, but she she's and she's been so close, taken some really good shots and and not made them.
- 7:31SPEAKER_06: And so of course I wasn't there.
- 7:32SPEAKER_06: I had a meeting today, but uh she made two goals.
- 7:35SPEAKER_06: So yay, my very cool.
- 7:38SPEAKER_06: Uh I'm sure she'll be down when we're wrapping up the podcast, like she's gonna be.
- 7:41SPEAKER_06: Well, I'm sure she'll normally sneak down.
- 7:44SPEAKER_06: Yes, like she normally is.
- 7:45SPEAKER_06: Quote unquote.
- 7:46SPEAKER_06: Um so yeah, there's that.
- 7:49SPEAKER_06: What else is going on?
- 7:50SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I had my first day of school today.
- 7:51SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 7:52SPEAKER_06: Uh first day of of everybody's school.
- 7:54SPEAKER_06: Everybody's school, which means I had the elementary all day and then the high school at the end of the day.
- 7:59SPEAKER_06: High school uh choir practice went fantastic.
- 8:02SPEAKER_06: Good.
- 8:02SPEAKER_06: Because we I just kept them kept them going.
- 8:06SPEAKER_06: I find that that the the faster you go between things, the less time they have to goof off.
- 8:12SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 8:13SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that's it.
- 8:14SPEAKER_06: You know, so my the pace, my pacing of my my choir practices has gotten better.
- 8:19SPEAKER_06: Uh and then so the little have you chosen chosen songs for your Christmas concert yet?
- 8:24SPEAKER_06: I have we're we're working on one.
- 8:25SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 8:26SPEAKER_06: Um I've got two or three more in mind, but we're we haven't tackled it.
- 8:30SPEAKER_06: See the problem with with those, and I will It's September.
- 8:34SPEAKER_06: Yeah, but we'll we'll we'll start another one, maybe two before harvest, but that's the problem is.
- 8:39SPEAKER_06: Yeah, you gotta harvest it.
- 8:40SPEAKER_06: Yeah, we start working on these songs, and then they have three weeks off.
- 8:43SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 8:44SPEAKER_06: So it's like starting all over when they come back.
- 8:45SPEAKER_06: Yeah, basically.
- 8:46SPEAKER_06: You know, so I don't usually do too much before uh harvest break.
- 8:50SPEAKER_06: Yeah, there's no point.
- 8:51SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 8:52SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 8:52SPEAKER_06: So we're working on this one song, and we'll have this song completed uh before harvest break, and I'll probably introduce one more song and then we'll we'll go through that and do the best we can.
- 9:03SPEAKER_03: Start over in October.
- 9:04SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 9:05SPEAKER_06: And then they'll come back from harvest break.
- 9:06SPEAKER_06: We'll do those two again.
- 9:07SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 9:08SPEAKER_06: And see if they remember them.
- 9:09SPEAKER_06: And they won't.
- 9:10SPEAKER_06: And they won't.
- 9:11SPEAKER_06: And uh we'll go from there.
- 9:12SPEAKER_06: But the elementary kids to this week is all about okay, so this is This is chorus.
- 9:17SPEAKER_06: This is what no, the no, no, the elementary kids.
- 9:19SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's right.
- 9:19SPEAKER_03: You do uh like actual music.
- 9:20SPEAKER_03: General music, yeah.
- 9:22SPEAKER_06: So this is what you do when you come into music class.
- 9:25SPEAKER_06: Sit down and shut up.
- 9:27SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 9:27SPEAKER_06: Were you there?
- 9:28SPEAKER_06: Because it was kind of like that.
- 9:30SPEAKER_03: No.
- 9:32SPEAKER_03: No, when I sub, that's what I'm gonna be like.
- 9:34SPEAKER_03: Sit down and shut up.
- 9:36SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 9:37SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna sleep at the desk.
- 9:39SPEAKER_03: You wake me up, you're dead.
- 9:41SPEAKER_03: A A Ron.
- 9:42SPEAKER_03: D-E-D.
- 9:43SPEAKER_03: You're done messed up, A A Ron.
- 9:45SPEAKER_03: Is there an A Ron here?
- 9:47SPEAKER_03: Balaki.
- 9:49SPEAKER_06: You mean blank?
- 9:51SPEAKER_06: Such a c I don't think that they could outdo that.
- 9:53SPEAKER_03: You can't.
- 9:54SPEAKER_03: That is like perfection.
- 9:56SPEAKER_03: That's perfection.
- 9:57SPEAKER_03: Uh you know, and I'm up there with the cowbell skit from the SNS.
- 10:00SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 10:01SPEAKER_03: It's up there.
- 10:01SPEAKER_03: You can't you can't make it anywhere.
- 10:03SPEAKER_06: So we're talking about Key and Peel, and I never I never watched Key and Peel.
- 10:07SPEAKER_06: I I've seen clips on social media.
- 10:10SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 10:10SPEAKER_06: Like on Instagram or whatever.
- 10:12SPEAKER_06: You'll see clips.
- 10:13SPEAKER_06: And it's hilarious.
- 10:14SPEAKER_06: Oh, that's and I I wish I had like the show.
- 10:19SPEAKER_06: Because the show obviously doesn't exist anymore.
- 10:21SPEAKER_03: No, I it's yeah, I don't think um they've moved on.
- 10:24SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 10:25SPEAKER_06: They're they're back one of them's like a director now.
- 10:27SPEAKER_06: Yeah, Peel.
- 10:29SPEAKER_06: Uh yes, you're right.
- 10:31SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 10:31SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 10:31SPEAKER_06: It is uh Jordan Peel.
- 10:32SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 10:33SPEAKER_06: Uh pretty, pretty intense director, too.
- 10:36SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 10:36SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 10:36SPEAKER_03: He's done some really uh pretty uh hardcore stuff.
- 10:39SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and uh the other guy's been in all kinds of movies and stuff.
- 10:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he does a lot of character acting and like sitcoms and stuff like that.
- 10:46SPEAKER_06: So um uh but uh yeah, I wish I'd I wish I'd watched that in the beginning.
- 10:51SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, that's that'd been up there with like the Chappelle show.
- 10:53SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 10:54SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 10:54SPEAKER_03: That kind of thing.
- 10:55SPEAKER_06: So yeah, I like that stuff.
- 10:57SPEAKER_06: Um all right.
- 10:59SPEAKER_06: So two things I want to talk about on ultimate classicrock.com, and then we're gonna go to your thing on ultimateclassicrock.com.
- 11:06SPEAKER_02: I got it, because I wrote it.
- 11:08SPEAKER_06: Well, you know what I mean.
- 11:10SPEAKER_02: I made it up.
- 11:11SPEAKER_02: I'm so freaking smart.
- 11:15SPEAKER_06: Um so first thing I want to talk about, Anne Wilson of Hart has a documentary coming out.
- 11:24SPEAKER_06: About her?
- 11:25SPEAKER_06: About her.
- 11:25SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 11:26SPEAKER_06: About her life.
- 11:26SPEAKER_03: Wait, she made a documentary about herself?
- 11:29SPEAKER_03: She didn't.
- 11:29SPEAKER_03: Somebody else.
- 11:30SPEAKER_03: Oh, okay.
- 11:30SPEAKER_03: I was supposed to say that's kind of narcissistic.
- 11:33SPEAKER_06: Yeah, no.
- 11:34SPEAKER_06: Uh well, she did say this film is my story.
- 11:36SPEAKER_03: This is gonna be the best documentary ever.
- 11:39SPEAKER_03: It's about me.
- 11:41SPEAKER_03: Directed by me, written by me, produced by me, starring me.
- 11:49SPEAKER_06: Me, me, me, me, me.
- 11:53SPEAKER_06: So one of the things I was gonna ask you is what kind of and this you just made me think of it.
- 12:02SPEAKER_06: So what kind of I don't want to be an influencer, obviously, you know, with this podcast.
- 12:09SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 12:09SPEAKER_06: But if if my daughter is gonna kind of uh how can I say taking the reins.
- 12:17SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 12:18SPEAKER_06: If she's gonna kind of take the reins, she's gonna want content.
- 12:22SPEAKER_06: Sure.
- 12:25SPEAKER_06: I just saw a commercial documentary's gonna be the best.
- 12:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but just she can make like a fake like documentary like Doug, the story.
- 12:43SPEAKER_03: And it's just me like I directed it, I wrote it, I started it, I am awesome!
- 12:55SPEAKER_02: Opens in theaters, opens in theaters when I say it will.
- 13:01SPEAKER_06: That's the that's the thing I'm talking about.
- 13:03SPEAKER_06: We could do skits.
- 13:04SPEAKER_06: Remember, we used to make all those movies.
- 13:06SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, we we we we're good at making skits.
- 13:08SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 13:09SPEAKER_03: Well, but the best ones come organically, just like just like you know, when we're not thinking about it.
- 13:15SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 13:16SPEAKER_06: So well, we uh so I uh and I know that we've talked about this in the past, but it came up again uh when my daughter was home.
- 13:24SPEAKER_06: All the all the videos that we used to make um when we were younger in high school and even younger than that, actually.
- 13:33SPEAKER_06: No.
- 13:33SPEAKER_06: No?
- 13:34SPEAKER_06: No, it was all Was it all high school?
- 13:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it was all high school.
- 13:37SPEAKER_06: Well, college younger than that, I think was when we played like war and stuff.
- 13:41SPEAKER_06: Yeah, we were out of your place.
- 13:42SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 13:43SPEAKER_06: But yeah, you're right.
- 13:44SPEAKER_06: It was high school and maybe even college that we would just come home and to visit or something.
- 13:50SPEAKER_03: We would make a you know, make a stupid video.
- 13:53SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 13:53SPEAKER_06: Um, but they were hilarious.
- 13:55SPEAKER_06: Maybe they were only hilarious to us.
- 13:57SPEAKER_03: I think I I think a lot of it was is just to amuse ourselves.
- 14:00SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 14:01SPEAKER_03: But some of the stuff was just classic, like Jared's, you know, now we can work on the mines.
- 14:06SPEAKER_02: You know, what about my grandmother?
- 14:08SPEAKER_02: What about my grandmother?
- 14:09SPEAKER_03: She never got to work on the mines.
- 14:10SPEAKER_03: You know, stuff like that.
- 14:11SPEAKER_03: It would be, you know, it was still funny to us.
- 14:14SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 14:14SPEAKER_03: You know, I'm somebody else watching it now.
- 14:16SPEAKER_03: I mean, that was like 30 years ago, man.
- 14:18SPEAKER_06: So I mean people are probably like, what is wrong with these guys?
- 14:20SPEAKER_06: I think of the I think of when we took and even we took, we took, we we had some really groundbreaking um no, we didn't, but we had some like when we opened like when you guys went to the trunk and it showed you walking up to the trunk of the car, and then you opened the trunk and we filmed it from the inside of the trunk.
- 14:42SPEAKER_06: Do you remember that one?
- 14:43SPEAKER_03: Oh wow, yeah, I forgot about that.
- 14:45SPEAKER_06: Was that a doom man?
- 14:46SPEAKER_06: I don't know if that was a do man.
- 14:47SPEAKER_03: I think that was a doom man.
- 14:48SPEAKER_03: Didn't we hit Bob with the car?
- 14:50SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 14:50SPEAKER_03: Isn't that the same thing?
- 14:51SPEAKER_03: That's the one.
- 14:51SPEAKER_03: That's the one.
- 14:52SPEAKER_03: He was like by a fire.
- 14:54SPEAKER_03: We had a we had a fire going in a barrel.
- 14:56SPEAKER_06: Yes, that's the one.
- 14:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and I pushed him in front of the car and you like hit him.
- 15:00SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 15:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:00SPEAKER_06: You know, that one.
- 15:01SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that one.
- 15:02SPEAKER_03: That was a fun one.
- 15:03unknown: Yeah.
- 15:04SPEAKER_03: We abused Bob so bad.
- 15:07SPEAKER_03: We did.
- 15:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:08unknown: Yeah.
- 15:08SPEAKER_03: Remember when we buried him in snow?
- 15:10SPEAKER_06: Which time?
- 15:12SPEAKER_03: The one time on the film.
- 15:14SPEAKER_06: On film?
- 15:15SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 15:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:16SPEAKER_03: Then he came out and he's like, Yeah.
- 15:19SPEAKER_03: You know, that's kind of cool.
- 15:20SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 15:20SPEAKER_06: But that's what I'm saying.
- 15:21SPEAKER_06: I mean, we could if we if we put our heads together, we could do something like that, a skit or something like that.
- 15:28SPEAKER_06: But you're right.
- 15:29SPEAKER_06: It has to be like, oh, let's do, let's do this, let's do that.
- 15:32SPEAKER_06: You know, like we used to make them.
- 15:34SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 15:34SPEAKER_06: You know, let's do a let's do a doom man.
- 15:36SPEAKER_06: And and so he battles the the king of bad beverages and blah blah blah blah.
- 15:39SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 15:40SPEAKER_06: You know, things like that.
- 15:40SPEAKER_06: We just kind of did it.
- 15:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, just like, you know, just by the seat of our pants.
- 15:45SPEAKER_03: It was nothing like ever planned.
- 15:47SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 15:47SPEAKER_03: And there were no there was no alcohol or drugs involved except for caffeine.
- 15:51SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 15:52SPEAKER_03: And, you know, sleep deprivation.
- 15:53SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 15:54SPEAKER_03: So, you know.
- 15:55SPEAKER_06: Yeah, we could do that.
- 15:56SPEAKER_06: That would be fine.
- 15:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:57SPEAKER_03: Well, I'm not staying up till three o'clock.
- 15:59SPEAKER_03: No, no, no.
- 16:00SPEAKER_06: Neither am I.
- 16:00SPEAKER_06: Neither am I.
- 16:01SPEAKER_06: I can't do it.
- 16:02SPEAKER_06: I can't do it.
- 16:02SPEAKER_06: Anyway, getting back to my uh Ann Wilson documentary.
- 16:06SPEAKER_06: Me, me, me.
- 16:08SPEAKER_06: She says, This film is my story in my own words, told the way I've always wanted to tell it.
- 16:13SPEAKER_03: Did I call it or did I call it?
- 16:16SPEAKER_03: Me, me, me.
- 16:18SPEAKER_03: I'm Ann Wilson.
- 16:20SPEAKER_03: I'm the best.
- 16:21SPEAKER_03: Nancy Who?
- 16:26SPEAKER_03: I don't I don't think she's really.
- 16:27SPEAKER_06: No, no, I don't.
- 16:28SPEAKER_06: She says it's about finding my voice, keeping it alive, and sharing the journey with the people who've been a part of it all along.
- 16:34SPEAKER_06: So uh I don't know.
- 16:36SPEAKER_06: I don't think I I watched the trailer, but I don't remember.
- 16:39SPEAKER_06: I don't think the trailer has anything groundbreaking in it.
- 16:43SPEAKER_06: Any any um let me just click on it and see if the internet is going to co-operate.
- 16:50SPEAKER_06: Doesn't look good.
- 16:51SPEAKER_03: Not so far.
- 16:52SPEAKER_06: Not so far.
- 16:54SPEAKER_06: Let me uh reset and try it again.
- 16:59SPEAKER_06: Oh, here we go.
- 17:01SPEAKER_01: I've just seen the cycles of the seasons too many times now to not notice.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: Things need to just struggle to survive.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: All those years of ups and downs, they really do pile up in your soul.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: The most important lesson I've learned along the long and winding road.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: That's from the Beatles.
- 17:33SPEAKER_06: Here's the thing, I'd watch it.
- 17:35SPEAKER_03: Oh heck yeah, I'd watch it too.
- 17:37SPEAKER_03: But uh I I'm curious as to why it's just about her.
- 17:40SPEAKER_03: It's not about the Wilson sisters.
- 17:42SPEAKER_03: Well, she has and I don't know if it's I I I'm I'm I'm sure Nancy's involved in I mean she was a huge part of that.
- 17:49SPEAKER_06: Oh sure, the whole thing.
- 17:50SPEAKER_06: But well, maybe it's because uh Maybe Nancy doesn't want to be well Ann Wilson has gone through a bunch of crap truly.
- 17:59SPEAKER_06: She's got a cancer diagnosis and I think she there was something else that she was she was dealing with before the cancer diagnosis.
- 18:08SPEAKER_06: I I I don't remember what it was.
- 18:10SPEAKER_06: But I think I just think that she's probably looking for a way to st no, I don't want to say it like this, to stay relevant, but that's not because she is relevant.
- 18:21SPEAKER_06: Well she'll she'll always be relevant.
- 18:22SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 18:22SPEAKER_06: But I I I I think because and they aren't touring and she's she's performing even if she's in a wheelchair.
- 18:29SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 18:30SPEAKER_06: Yeah, you know, she's still performing.
- 18:32SPEAKER_06: Um but I think her performing uh days are limited lately, because I mean they're not they're not young.
- 18:39SPEAKER_06: Yeah, they're not young.
- 18:40SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 18:41SPEAKER_06: Um but I think she is uh tr and that's the only way I can put it, and I don't mean it in a negative term, um, that she's trying to stay relevant.
- 18:52SPEAKER_06: She's trying to keep her foot in the water without going on tour, without you know, she's trying to maintain I'm sure this is not all her idea.
- 19:03SPEAKER_03: Oh, I'm sure.
- 19:05SPEAKER_03: Somebody came to her like, hey Ann, we need to do this about you.
- 19:09SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 19:09SPEAKER_06: Well, I would imagine she you know I mean I'm sure she had a big hand in it, but uh uh I didn't um I didn't read I didn't read the whole article, but I would I thought In my voice.
- 19:24SPEAKER_06: In my voice.
- 19:25SPEAKER_06: In my voice.
- 19:25SPEAKER_06: Because from here it looks like in my vice.
- 19:28SPEAKER_06: I would uh assume that or suspect that maybe she had written her memoirs and somebody.
- 19:39SPEAKER_06: I haven't either.
- 19:39SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 19:40SPEAKER_06: Somebody decided to turn them into a documentary.
- 19:43SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 19:44SPEAKER_06: She does have an extensive tour schedule.
- 19:46SPEAKER_06: Um all the way through um well she's she's done now, but November and December she's on tour quite quite extensively with Todd Rundgren uh and Cheap Trick, actually.
- 19:58SPEAKER_06: So yeah.
- 19:59SPEAKER_06: Good show.
- 19:59SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 20:00SPEAKER_06: Good show.
- 20:00SPEAKER_06: Okay, so here's the other thing I want to talk about, which you know just speaking of staying relevant.
- 20:11SPEAKER_06: And I can't fault anybody for that.
- 20:15SPEAKER_06: I can't fault Ann Wilson for trying to s to stay um in the public eye.
- 20:21SPEAKER_06: You know, to to her work.
- 20:24SPEAKER_06: I mean, because she's got a great body of work, right?
- 20:27SPEAKER_06: And I can't really be I'm I'm trying I'm trying not to be negative about things like that.
- 20:33SPEAKER_06: This one I don't understand.
- 20:36SPEAKER_06: And I don't maybe I don't need to understand it.
- 20:39SPEAKER_06: But the last Bon Jovi album, which is called Forever.
- 20:45SPEAKER_06: Forever poop.
- 20:46SPEAKER_06: Well, no, there were some decent songs on it.
- 20:49SPEAKER_06: It was did you hear the whole album?
- 20:50SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I didn't know.
- 20:51SPEAKER_06: There were maybe two or three decent songs.
- 20:55SPEAKER_06: And um and of course his voice is not obviously not what it used to be.
- 21:04SPEAKER_06: Well, uh I suspect that the album didn't perform as well as well no no album performs as except for unless you're Taylor Swift.
- 21:16SPEAKER_06: No album performs as well as they used to.
- 21:20SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 21:20SPEAKER_06: You know, I mean we've already taught we've always talked about how, you know, y you used to put out an album and you would you would sell million uh a million, which is going platinum.
- 21:31SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 21:31SPEAKER_06: You know, and that's physical copies.
- 21:34SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 21:34SPEAKER_06: And these days it just doesn't work like that anymore.
- 21:37SPEAKER_06: So when Bon Jovi put out the album forever, um I I gotta imagine that th the sales were not great.
- 21:48SPEAKER_06: And and I'm trying to understand why he's doing this, but he is re-releasing the album forever as an album of duet.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: So he's going So that tells me the album sucked on the initial release.
- 22:06SPEAKER_03: And now he's trying to revive it without doing any work.
- 22:11SPEAKER_03: Well That's what it sounds like to me.
- 22:14SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 22:16SPEAKER_06: And I don't know I mean I'm not saying that that's not valid, because that may be true.
- 22:23SPEAKER_03: I can think of that.
- 22:25SPEAKER_06: Um so the first single from the re-release of the Bon Jovi album is a duet with the boss, Bruce Springsteen.
- 22:33SPEAKER_03: Oh, good.
- 22:35SPEAKER_03: That'll be interesting.
- 22:36SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 22:36SPEAKER_06: Um and it's it's not it's not one of the songs on Forever that I enjoyed.
- 22:48SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 22:49SPEAKER_06: Um yeah, really sucks.
- 22:52SPEAKER_06: Well, Joe Elliott is gonna be a a duet on the album.
- 22:56SPEAKER_06: Jelly Roll.
- 22:58SPEAKER_03: That guy's everywhere now.
- 22:59SPEAKER_06: Well, that's the thing.
- 23:00SPEAKER_06: I think they're they're they're I mean, why why get Jelly Roll?
- 23:04SPEAKER_06: Because he's hot.
- 23:05SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 23:06SPEAKER_06: And they want to say again, I can't fault them.
- 23:08SPEAKER_06: It's marketing.
- 23:09SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah, absolutely.
- 23:10SPEAKER_03: That's that's that's the only reason for this re-release.
- 23:14SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 23:14SPEAKER_06: It's marketing.
- 23:15SPEAKER_06: It's making it.
- 23:16SPEAKER_03: He put it out as Bon Joey Forever.
- 23:18SPEAKER_03: It did nothing.
- 23:20SPEAKER_03: So now we're gonna try again because he can't sing it again.
- 23:23SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 23:24SPEAKER_03: Well, they they So you're just gonna add somebody on, you know, it's gonna be his voice, but you're gonna have somebody else singing on it too now.
- 23:34SPEAKER_06: Well, we're gonna listen to Hollow Man.
- 23:36SPEAKER_06: This is this is so brace yourself.
- 23:39SPEAKER_06: This is uh Bon Jovi from the album Forever, uh, the new re-release with Bruce Springsteen.
- 23:46SPEAKER_06: So Springsteen, I think, just sings the second verse and sings on the chorus.
- 23:58SPEAKER_06: And I I don't remember.
- 24:01SPEAKER_06: I'm gonna stop that right there.
- 24:03SPEAKER_06: I don't remember Hollow Man on the first album.
- 24:06SPEAKER_06: D did they redo it?
- 24:08SPEAKER_06: Is it reimagined?
- 24:09SPEAKER_06: Is that why they're doing this?
- 24:11SPEAKER_06: Actually, do I have it in here?
- 24:12SPEAKER_06: Hold on a second.
- 24:14SPEAKER_06: Just, you know, while I'm right here.
- 24:16SPEAKER_06: Let's see.
- 24:17SPEAKER_06: Because I'm not sure if I put that.
- 24:18SPEAKER_06: I'm not sure if I was dumb enough to put that in my iTunes or not.
- 24:24SPEAKER_06: I I usually put every uh try to put every album that I get uh in my iTunes.
- 24:30SPEAKER_06: Uh alright.
- 24:32SPEAKER_06: Ah, here it is.
- 24:33SPEAKER_06: This is the original.
- 24:38SPEAKER_06: I don't hear a harmonica, so Springsteen must have added the harmonica.
- 24:50SPEAKER_06: Yeah, there's no harmonica.
- 24:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so that makes it sound like a Springsteen song.
- 24:55SPEAKER_03: So let's sounds like the You know what it reminds me of?
- 24:59SPEAKER_03: The river.
- 25:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:12SPEAKER_10: What do you sing when the song's been sung?
- 25:18SPEAKER_10: What do you fight when the war is won?
- 25:24SPEAKER_10: What do you write when the book is done?
- 25:31SPEAKER_10: What do you sing when the song's been sung?
- 25:37SPEAKER_12: How do you pray till you find you pray?
- 25:43SPEAKER_12: How can you kiss so much that just don't care?
- 25:50SPEAKER_12: How do you feel till you feel come?
- 25:54SPEAKER_12: I really hate these words.
- 25:56SPEAKER_12: Till you love stuff, how can you learn stuff?
- 26:09SPEAKER_10: Telling stories about the promise of a promise.
- 26:15SPEAKER_06: Now is that gonna make you buy it?
- 26:16SPEAKER_10: No.
- 26:17SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 26:18SPEAKER_03: I mean it's I mean, I didn't care about it before, now I care about even less.
- 26:22SPEAKER_03: If that's even possible.
- 26:24SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 26:25SPEAKER_06: So so John Bon Jovi said the res um he went back to work on the songs since he still is unable to tour due to his recent vocal court issues.
- 26:35SPEAKER_06: And quote, the result is an album with a new viewpoint and new spirit, a collaboration album that proves we all get by in this world with a little help from our friends.
- 26:46SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 26:48SPEAKER_06: Uh I will say this.
- 26:49SPEAKER_06: In this Ultimate Classic Rock article, they posted two videos.
- 26:54SPEAKER_06: This one, The Hollow Man, and they posted uh a song, which I hate the title, uh Red, White, and Jersey.
- 27:03SPEAKER_06: That's a terrible title.
- 27:04SPEAKER_06: It's a terrible title.
- 27:05SPEAKER_06: It's a brand new song with John Bonjovi sharing a nostalgic look back at his beloved home state over a peppy keyboard-dominated backdrop.
- 27:12SPEAKER_06: Now, you know what?
- 27:14SPEAKER_06: I like this song.
- 27:15SPEAKER_06: It's, I mean, comparatively.
- 27:18SPEAKER_06: If and this was recorded, written and recorded uh around the time of the last Bon Jovi album, they just never put it on the album.
- 27:24SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 27:25SPEAKER_06: Um they should have.
- 27:26SPEAKER_06: So this is like a bonus track.
- 27:28SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I guess so.
- 27:29SPEAKER_06: Um I I dug not all of it, but I dug a lot of this song.
- 27:41SPEAKER_04: Typical.
- 28:46SPEAKER_06: I mean it's pop music.
- 28:49SPEAKER_03: Oh, it it's it's it's classic Bon Jovi pop.
- 28:52SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 28:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 28:53SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 28:54SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 28:56SPEAKER_03: But the video does not look like New Jersey.
- 28:58SPEAKER_03: It looks like California.
- 28:59SPEAKER_06: It does.
- 29:00SPEAKER_06: Which is funny.
- 29:00SPEAKER_06: Well, I mean, there is a beach in New Jersey.
- 29:03SPEAKER_03: Well, there's a lot of beach in New Jersey.
- 29:04SPEAKER_03: It just all socks.
- 29:08SPEAKER_06: I love this.
- 29:09SPEAKER_06: Tell me how you really feel.
- 29:10SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry, man.
- 29:12SPEAKER_06: Actually, can I change the subject?
- 29:13SPEAKER_06: Let's talk about Thailand.
- 29:14SPEAKER_02: Thailand sucks.
- 29:18SPEAKER_03: Don't get even started on that.
- 29:21SPEAKER_03: That's an if you're listening to Thailand.
- 29:23SPEAKER_03: I'm sorry.
- 29:24SPEAKER_03: That's that's kind of an inside joke.
- 29:27SPEAKER_03: If you're in Thailand right now, move.
- 29:30SPEAKER_03: Go someplace else.
- 29:33SPEAKER_06: Um, yeah.
- 29:35SPEAKER_06: One of our band members was going to Thailand, and as soon as Doug heard that, he just went on the spiel about Thailand.
- 29:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I kind of felt bad at the I afterwards I felt a little bad, but then I was like, no.
- 29:46SPEAKER_03: No, that's just how I feel.
- 29:48SPEAKER_03: I mean, he doesn't know.
- 29:49SPEAKER_03: He's never been there.
- 29:50SPEAKER_03: Right, right, right, right.
- 29:51SPEAKER_03: You know, he I should warn him.
- 29:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 29:53SPEAKER_03: He probably he probably loved it because he's that's just how he is.
- 29:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:58SPEAKER_03: I'm just like, what?
- 30:00SPEAKER_03: Why?
- 30:01SPEAKER_03: Of all the places on the entire planet you could go, why would you go to that hellhole?
- 30:08SPEAKER_03: Have you ever been to Thailand?
- 30:09SPEAKER_03: Unfortunately.
- 30:11SPEAKER_03: Once?
- 30:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's all it took, man.
- 30:13SPEAKER_03: And this was what, 40 years ago?
- 30:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:16SPEAKER_03: I'm sure it didn't get better.
- 30:21SPEAKER_03: It still sucks.
- 30:22SPEAKER_03: It just has Wi-Fi now.
- 30:28SPEAKER_03: Oh man, that's funny.
- 30:31SPEAKER_03: Um, all right.
- 30:32SPEAKER_03: But the song, the song, you're right.
- 30:34SPEAKER_03: The song isn't bad.
- 30:35SPEAKER_03: The title sucks.
- 30:36SPEAKER_06: The the title sucks.
- 30:37SPEAKER_06: I like the I like the chorus.
- 30:38SPEAKER_03: The chorus is good, yeah.
- 30:39SPEAKER_03: I mean, the song isn't bad.
- 30:49SPEAKER_06: You know what I never listen to?
- 30:51SPEAKER_06: I I I did watch this video and I was like, oh, that's kind of that's kind of peppy.
- 30:55SPEAKER_06: That's kind of cool.
- 30:55SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 30:56SPEAKER_06: I didn't watch Phil X's if there's a if there's a guitar solo.
- 30:59SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, that's that guy.
- 31:00SPEAKER_06: That's uh Phil X.
- 31:01SPEAKER_06: Oh, that's just that girl with the guitar.
- 31:03SPEAKER_06: Phil X.
- 31:05SPEAKER_06: What can we say?
- 31:05SPEAKER_02: Overqualified for way overqualified.
- 31:26SPEAKER_03: What are they like top lifting?
- 32:09SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I don't know.
- 32:11SPEAKER_03: I mean, I think sometimes I feel bad for Phil X.
- 32:16SPEAKER_03: Because the dude is just he's just awesome.
- 32:19SPEAKER_03: And he's gotta be in a band with Bon Jovi.
- 32:23SPEAKER_03: Well it just it really doesn't fit.
- 32:25SPEAKER_03: It's like it's like me and the Spice Girls.
- 32:28SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 32:29SPEAKER_03: It just doesn't fit.
- 32:30SPEAKER_06: I don't think he's complaining.
- 32:32SPEAKER_03: No, I mean yeah, I'm sure he's making a penny.
- 32:34SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 32:34SPEAKER_03: I mean making some bucks off this in this day and age for any musician to get a good gig.
- 32:38SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that's awesome.
- 32:40SPEAKER_06: And we don't know we don't know the inner workings of the band.
- 32:42SPEAKER_06: Because you know, I was a I was uh You were in Bon Jovi.
- 32:46SPEAKER_06: I remember that.
- 32:47SPEAKER_06: Huge Bon Jovi fan.
- 32:49SPEAKER_03: Oh, I was gonna say you were in Bon Jovi.
- 32:51SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, I was in Bon Jovi.
- 32:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 32:53SPEAKER_03: Remember that time you were in Bon Jovi.
- 32:55SPEAKER_03: Remember, remember that time you were in Bon Jovi?
- 32:59SPEAKER_06: No, I was a That was awesome.
- 33:01SPEAKER_06: I was huge when Richie was in the band.
- 33:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 33:05SPEAKER_06: That's something I think about.
- 33:06SPEAKER_03: Well, I don't know.
- 33:07SPEAKER_03: Were you a fan of Bon Jovi because of Richie, or were you just a Richie fan and cu you know and he played in Bon Jovi?
- 33:15SPEAKER_06: No, I liked Bon Jovi's music.
- 33:17SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 33:17SPEAKER_06: I I was a fan, because I'm uh you know, I mean I'm a fan of of catchy choruses and the big Yeah, the big bombastic choruses and and and Bon Jovi.
- 33:27SPEAKER_06: And and Bon Jovi was like that for a Well, they were good with that until until about what twenty years ago?
- 33:34SPEAKER_03: Well, uh probably more than that.
- 33:35SPEAKER_03: I I Crush album.
- 33:38SPEAKER_03: Crush album, yeah.
- 33:38SPEAKER_03: Which was like 2000.
- 33:40SPEAKER_06: Okay, it came out of 2000.
- 33:41SPEAKER_03: 25 years ago.
- 33:42SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 33:43SPEAKER_06: So so I do think that that was their last really good album.
- 33:48SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I agree.
- 33:49SPEAKER_03: Um That was the last one I ever bought.
- 33:51SPEAKER_03: I haven't bought it.
- 33:52SPEAKER_06: Well no, I still that's the thing.
- 33:54SPEAKER_06: Uh I'm not a fair weather fan.
- 33:56SPEAKER_06: I I still buy I I resist like this last album, I didn't want it.
- 34:02SPEAKER_06: But I went out and I bought it and was disappointed for the most part.
- 34:07SPEAKER_06: Um but I I often wonder and I know that Richie had his own issues and I think there was a I think there was a cover up there a little bit because you know he didn't show up to a gig and then he issued a statement where where he wanted to spend more time with his daughter.
- 34:29SPEAKER_06: I don't doubt that that's true.
- 34:32SPEAKER_06: But I think he had an alcohol problem.
- 34:34SPEAKER_03: I wouldn't doubt it.
- 34:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think he did.
- 34:35SPEAKER_03: If I was in Bon Jovi, I'd drink too.
- 34:38SPEAKER_06: You're on fire today.
- 34:40SPEAKER_03: If I if I had to put if I had to put up with John Bon Jovi, I would have to be drunk to enjoy it, I think.
- 34:48SPEAKER_03: I I I don't know.
- 34:49SPEAKER_03: I just that's just the feeling I get from that guy.
- 34:51SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 34:53SPEAKER_03: You know, I'd be like, hey, this is our new drummer, Doug.
- 34:58SPEAKER_03: I'm a bon Jovi.
- 35:00SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna play some drum now.
- 35:02SPEAKER_02: You know, I gotta strap me in the throne so I can play, you know.
- 35:08SPEAKER_03: Let me get back to what I was saying.
- 35:10SPEAKER_03: Put Doug in the throne and seatbelt him in play.
- 35:15SPEAKER_03: Hold on.
- 35:16SPEAKER_03: I think for a second.
- 35:17SPEAKER_03: Got a camelback full of friggin' Jack Daniels or something.
- 35:21SPEAKER_03: So here's my question.
- 35:23SPEAKER_02: I don't know what.
- 35:25SPEAKER_06: So had Richie Sambar cleaned up his act for good and you know took a year off or whatever and went and spent it with his family, and then came back to the fold in Bonjoy.
- 35:42SPEAKER_06: I'm not saying because John had his vocal issues, obviously.
- 35:46SPEAKER_06: But do you think the trajectory of the band would have been different?
- 35:52SPEAKER_06: No.
- 35:53SPEAKER_06: You're right, because I th and I thought about this.
- 35:55SPEAKER_06: I think they were already going down.
- 35:57SPEAKER_06: Well, I think it's because John took over everything.
- 36:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he he runs that band.
- 36:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 36:05SPEAKER_03: I mean, I don't care what anybody says.
- 36:07SPEAKER_06: Well, I mean, it is technically it's his band.
- 36:09SPEAKER_06: Yeah, exactly.
- 36:10SPEAKER_06: You know, the the they're all hired people.
- 36:12SPEAKER_06: Uh they're they've done very well for themselves, but I uh they're all the band members.
- 36:18SPEAKER_03: They're basically John's employees.
- 36:20SPEAKER_06: Yeah, basically.
- 36:22SPEAKER_03: And um even I remember watching Even Tico and uh the keyboard player.
- 36:28SPEAKER_03: What's it?
- 36:29SPEAKER_03: Day Bryan.
- 36:29SPEAKER_03: Day Bryan, yeah.
- 36:30SPEAKER_03: I mean I mean they've been with him the longest.
- 36:32SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 36:33SPEAKER_03: But I'm sure they're just I mean they're I'm sure they're bros.
- 36:36SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 36:37SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 36:37SPEAKER_03: But they still work for John.
- 36:39SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 36:39SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 36:40SPEAKER_03: You know.
- 36:40SPEAKER_06: And it's a it's a corporation, basically, is what it is.
- 36:43SPEAKER_06: Um I remember watching, and I have it here actually.
- 36:47SPEAKER_06: Um the I have a DVD of a uh the crush tour.
- 36:53SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 36:53SPEAKER_06: So it's concerts and interviews in between and stuff like that.
- 36:57SPEAKER_06: And as you know, when Bon Jovi was coming up in the late 80s, early 90s, he and Richie were almost like one.
- 37:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 37:07SPEAKER_06: They do interviews together, they wrote together, they did everything to the and they were buds, you know.
- 37:13SPEAKER_06: They did the whole MTV, arguably started MTV Unplugged.
- 37:18SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 37:18SPEAKER_06: When they did, you know, a couple of songs acoustically.
- 37:21SPEAKER_06: Um and then it was like John decided, we're gonna do we're gonna do this, we're gonna do this, we're gonna do this.
- 37:30SPEAKER_06: In that interview on the Crush DVD, they're sitting together.
- 37:36SPEAKER_06: John is talking to the camera.
- 37:39SPEAKER_06: Richie Sambora is is next to him, but a little bit back further.
- 37:43SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 37:44SPEAKER_06: Just those two, not the rest of the band.
- 37:47SPEAKER_06: And there's just the look on Richie's face.
- 37:52SPEAKER_06: Like, yeah, I'd like to say something, you know, or can I say something?
- 37:57SPEAKER_06: Right?
- 37:58SPEAKER_06: I mean it was like it was like it wasn't the same dynamic.
- 38:01SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 38:02SPEAKER_03: You know, so that I think all this went to John's head and it became a benevolent dictatorship.
- 38:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 38:15SPEAKER_03: That's what it that that's the feeling I get.
- 38:17SPEAKER_06: I don't wanna I don't wanna fault John Bon Jovi too much.
- 38:21SPEAKER_03: No, he just did what he thought was right.
- 38:23SPEAKER_03: I mean I get I get it, doing the best you can for yourself.
- 38:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 38:27SPEAKER_03: And then, but you just you know.
- 38:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 38:29SPEAKER_03: Uh what was his f the bass player, Alex Johnson?
- 38:32SPEAKER_06: Alex John such yeah, you know.
- 38:35SPEAKER_03: Just like, okay, you're out.
- 38:37SPEAKER_03: Uh, okay, well, what's your name?
- 38:39SPEAKER_03: Hugh?
- 38:39SPEAKER_03: All right, you you you play bass, but don't say anything, and we're not gonna put you any of the pictures.
- 38:44SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 38:45SPEAKER_06: For a long time.
- 38:46SPEAKER_03: That's when I was like, Yeah, yeah.
- 38:49SPEAKER_06: This is this is this has become But what you think that was his decision, or do you think that was Corsetta's Bon Jovi managed?
- 38:55SPEAKER_03: It's it was him.
- 38:56SPEAKER_06: It's he was him.
- 38:57SPEAKER_06: His family is is the management company, I guess.
- 38:59SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it was it was him.
- 39:01SPEAKER_03: You know, yeah, but is that I don't think anything happens without his like blessing.
- 39:05SPEAKER_06: Is that a marketing thing though?
- 39:06SPEAKER_06: Is it could be because they know they know Bon Jovi as these people, and if you put somebody new in.
- 39:12SPEAKER_03: Well, I mean, other bands have done that.
- 39:14SPEAKER_03: But other bands have done it, and they've always been like, hey, here's our new bass player, blah, blah, blah, you know, or whatever, but they didn't do that.
- 39:20SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 39:22SPEAKER_03: I mean, I didn't know who Hugh was for years.
- 39:24SPEAKER_03: I was like, who's that guy?
- 39:25SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 39:25SPEAKER_03: He's just playing bass for him.
- 39:26SPEAKER_03: No, you never saw him in any pictures, any, you know, any album art, nothing.
- 39:31SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 39:32SPEAKER_06: You know, he's just even videos.
- 39:33SPEAKER_03: I mean, barely he was just there.
- 39:35SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 39:36SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 39:36SPEAKER_03: And I was just like, what the frig, dude.
- 39:39SPEAKER_03: I mean, this dude is in your band.
- 39:41SPEAKER_03: I mean, when you're in a band with people, you gotta be like tight.
- 39:44SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 39:44SPEAKER_06: But now, not with you know, for years it was like Well Yeah, so and and to add on to that, Hugh McDonald was their bass player even when Alec John Such was in the band.
- 40:00SPEAKER_06: Hugh McDonald played on a lot of the albums.
- 40:03SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 40:03SPEAKER_06: In place of Alec John Such.
- 40:05SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 40:05SPEAKER_06: Uh Hugh McDonald was on the original Runaway.
- 40:08SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 40:08SPEAKER_06: That first that first song.
- 40:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, he's been there in the background.
- 40:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:12SPEAKER_03: You know.
- 40:12SPEAKER_06: But you're right.
- 40:13SPEAKER_06: When they when they well, they didn't introduce him, they just kind of put it.
- 40:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they just kind of like, yeah.
- 40:17SPEAKER_03: There's a bass player.
- 40:18unknown: Yeah.
- 40:19SPEAKER_03: He's just materialized.
- 40:20SPEAKER_03: That was kind of dirty.
- 40:21SPEAKER_03: Well, no, that's what that's that's when I got turned off on Bon Jovi.
- 40:24SPEAKER_03: I was just like, Yeah, okay.
- 40:26SPEAKER_03: I've had enough.
- 40:26SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I suppose I mean it's a it's a brand, right?
- 40:29SPEAKER_06: And they're it is.
- 40:30SPEAKER_03: It's it's it's like McDonald's.
- 40:31SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 40:31SPEAKER_03: You know, it's Bon Jovi.
- 40:33SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 40:33SPEAKER_03: You know, you get you get what you get.
- 40:36SPEAKER_06: Um Alright, if you had to pick.
- 40:41SPEAKER_06: Oh, we're moving on now to the the next thing.
- 40:44SPEAKER_06: Nice segue! Think about Bon Jovi.
- 40:46SPEAKER_06: Think about one Bon Jovi album.
- 40:49SPEAKER_06: You got one?
- 40:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 40:51SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 40:52SPEAKER_06: Which album?
- 40:53SPEAKER_06: Slippery One Wet.
- 40:54SPEAKER_06: Slippery One Wet.
- 40:55SPEAKER_06: Alright, so on Slippery One Wet, let's see if I can do this from memory.
- 40:58SPEAKER_03: You probably can, dude.
- 40:59SPEAKER_06: I probably can.
- 41:00SPEAKER_06: Let it rock.
- 41:02SPEAKER_06: Side one.
- 41:04SPEAKER_06: Side one.
- 41:05SPEAKER_06: Side one.
- 41:05SPEAKER_06: Side A.
- 41:06SPEAKER_06: Yeah, side A.
- 41:07SPEAKER_06: So let it rock.
- 41:08SPEAKER_06: You give love a bad name.
- 41:10SPEAKER_06: Live it on a prayer.
- 41:11SPEAKER_06: Social disease, wanna dead or alive.
- 41:14SPEAKER_06: That is side one.
- 41:15SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 41:15SPEAKER_06: Side two is raise your hands.
- 41:19SPEAKER_06: Without love, I die for you.
- 41:23SPEAKER_06: Uh never say goodbye.
- 41:25SPEAKER_06: And wild in the streets.
- 41:26SPEAKER_06: Holy cow, I just did that.
- 41:29SPEAKER_06: I just did that.
- 41:30SPEAKER_03: Do I look surprised?
- 41:32SPEAKER_03: Alright.
- 41:33SPEAKER_03: That's that's stuck in your brain.
- 41:35SPEAKER_03: That's you probably you know, that's just like part of your you know, DNA makeup.
- 41:39SPEAKER_06: Let's go over it again.
- 41:40SPEAKER_06: Let it rock, you give love a bad name, live in on a prayer, uh, social disease, wanna dead or alive.
- 41:47SPEAKER_06: Raise your hands without love, I die for you.
- 41:50SPEAKER_06: Never say goodbye, wild in the streets.
- 41:54SPEAKER_06: On that album, what's the one song that you skip every time?
- 41:58SPEAKER_03: Let it rock.
- 41:59SPEAKER_06: Really?
- 41:59SPEAKER_06: You don't like Let It Rock?
- 42:01SPEAKER_03: Never did.
- 42:01SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 42:02SPEAKER_03: Never cared for it.
- 42:03SPEAKER_03: Also, the first song on side B.
- 42:07SPEAKER_03: Raise your hands?
- 42:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, never liked it.
- 42:09SPEAKER_03: Raise your hands?
- 42:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I don't like that song.
- 42:11SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 42:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, don't care for it.
- 42:13SPEAKER_06: Interesting.
- 42:14SPEAKER_03: Because ah, that's Raise Your Hands.
- 42:17SPEAKER_06: I'm like, it's just the energy of that song.
- 42:19SPEAKER_06: You don't like the energy?
- 42:20SPEAKER_03: It's just boring to me.
- 42:20SPEAKER_03: I'm like, pfft.
- 42:21SPEAKER_06: I will tell you the one that I skip every time.
- 42:24SPEAKER_06: I'd die for you.
- 42:25SPEAKER_03: I don't mind that song.
- 42:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:27SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 42:27SPEAKER_06: I skip everything.
- 42:28SPEAKER_03: Maybe because it has the word die in it, because I'm just that's cool.
- 42:32SPEAKER_06: All right, so somebody's got it dead.
- 42:34SPEAKER_06: Awesome.
- 42:35SPEAKER_06: So this little segue uh has us uh going to our next list on Ultimate Classic Rock, the most skipped songs from 40 famous classic rock albums.
- 42:47SPEAKER_06: And this is one that you found, actually.
- 42:49SPEAKER_03: I found it.
- 42:49SPEAKER_03: I couldn't believe it.
- 42:50SPEAKER_03: I found something for the show.
- 42:52SPEAKER_06: The podcast.
- 42:53SPEAKER_06: The show pause.
- 42:54SPEAKER_06: Showcast.
- 42:55SPEAKER_03: The podcast.
- 42:56SPEAKER_06: The posh the pod show.
- 42:57SPEAKER_06: Alright.
- 42:58SPEAKER_06: So back in black.
- 43:01unknown: Back in black.
- 43:03SPEAKER_06: I don't think I can do back in black if I had to do it.
- 43:05SPEAKER_06: So so it'll be back in black.
- 43:08SPEAKER_06: Uh no, I can't I can't do it.
- 43:11SPEAKER_03: Um I think they tell you.
- 43:16SPEAKER_06: They don't did they don't give you the full track list.
- 43:18SPEAKER_06: No, but they're not gonna be able to do what the most skip song is.
- 43:20SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 43:21SPEAKER_03: Um so they're just going by Spotify streams.
- 43:24SPEAKER_06: That's true.
- 43:24SPEAKER_06: I see that now.
- 43:26SPEAKER_06: I didn't realize that.
- 43:28SPEAKER_06: Um that's kind of lame.
- 43:30SPEAKER_03: It is lame, but I I mean I I still think it's interesting.
- 43:33SPEAKER_06: Yeah, no, I I think you're right.
- 43:34SPEAKER_06: The most popular track on on Back and Black is the title track.
- 43:38SPEAKER_06: Back and Black.
- 43:38SPEAKER_06: What do you think?
- 43:39SPEAKER_06: What do you think the most skip song is?
- 43:41SPEAKER_03: I have no idea, 'cause I I honestly don't know that album very well.
- 43:45SPEAKER_06: Not like I know like a docking album or something like that.
- 43:50SPEAKER_06: I do know this album relatively well, and I would agree with the the track that they skip.
- 43:55SPEAKER_06: Because I mean, you got rock and roll as noise pollution.
- 43:58SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 43:58SPEAKER_06: Uh you shook me all night long.
- 44:03SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 44:04SPEAKER_06: There's another ones.
- 44:05SPEAKER_06: There's a few more under.
- 44:06SPEAKER_06: This one, Shake a Leg.
- 44:08SPEAKER_06: Yes, I don't even know.
- 44:09SPEAKER_06: Would you even know that song?
- 44:11SPEAKER_06: I don't even know.
- 44:17SPEAKER_06: Sounds like every other AC DC.
- 44:19SPEAKER_06: With AC DC, it's hard to tell, man.
- 44:21SPEAKER_06: It's like I wouldn't even, I wouldn't even Aerosmith.
- 44:34SPEAKER_06: Now the most popular track is Walk This Way.
- 44:37SPEAKER_06: Of course.
- 44:37SPEAKER_06: And I'm not going to play every one of these.
- 44:38SPEAKER_06: No.
- 44:39SPEAKER_06: The most skip track, Round and Round.
- 44:42SPEAKER_03: I don't even know that one.
- 44:42SPEAKER_03: Do you even know that song?
- 44:43SPEAKER_03: I don't even think I know that song.
- 44:45SPEAKER_06: Let me just play a piece of it.
- 45:04SPEAKER_06: I'd skip that one.
- 45:05SPEAKER_06: Here we go.
- 45:07SPEAKER_06: You probably know this, the track listing for Sergeant Pepper.
- 45:10SPEAKER_13: Sergeant Pepper.
- 45:11SPEAKER_06: Do you know the track listing?
- 45:14SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 45:15SPEAKER_06: Think about the songs that are on that album.
- 45:17SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 45:17SPEAKER_06: And what one would you skip?
- 45:19SPEAKER_03: I I don't know all the songs.
- 45:21SPEAKER_06: Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is the most popular.
- 45:23SPEAKER_03: That makes sense.
- 45:24SPEAKER_03: Actually, I I would think Sergeant Pepper would have been the most popular?
- 45:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 45:30SPEAKER_03: Probably uh was fixing a hole in that one?
- 45:32SPEAKER_06: It was.
- 45:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I I would probably say that would be a little bit more.
- 45:35SPEAKER_03: You could skip that one?
- 45:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 45:36SPEAKER_06: What about Within You Without You?
- 45:37SPEAKER_06: I like that song.
- 45:38SPEAKER_06: You like that song?
- 45:39SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 45:40SPEAKER_06: Is that the most cheap one?
- 45:41SPEAKER_06: Nope.
- 45:41SPEAKER_06: Being for the benefit of Mr.
- 45:42SPEAKER_06: Kite.
- 45:43SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 45:43SPEAKER_03: Is the most sort of a little bit more than that?
- 45:45SPEAKER_06: It's kind of a weird song.
- 45:46SPEAKER_06: It is.
- 45:47SPEAKER_03: It's kind of circus-y and uh.
- 45:50SPEAKER_03: It's just yeah, it's a weird song.
- 45:52SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 45:52SPEAKER_06: I can see that.
- 45:52SPEAKER_06: Interesting.
- 45:53SPEAKER_06: They do have Bon Jovi Slippery When Wet on here.
- 45:55SPEAKER_06: All right.
- 45:55SPEAKER_06: This is what they say.
- 45:56SPEAKER_06: We picked, you picked uh Let It Rock.
- 45:59SPEAKER_06: Let it rock, Andy.
- 46:00SPEAKER_06: That was your first And Raise Your Hands.
- 46:01SPEAKER_06: And raise your hands.

- 58:22SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 58:22SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 58:23SPEAKER_06: The Who?
- 58:24SPEAKER_06: Who's Next?
- 58:24SPEAKER_06: Most popular track, Baba O'Reilly, most skip track, my wife.
- 58:30SPEAKER_06: That's the name of this.
- 58:31SPEAKER_06: Your wife is on this album?
- 58:33SPEAKER_03: What is going on with them?
- 58:34SPEAKER_06: Alright.
- 58:36SPEAKER_06: We're gonna end with this one.
- 58:38SPEAKER_06: Let's see if you can guess this one.
- 58:39SPEAKER_03: Did I ever tell you about the time I got in an argument with somebody about Baba O'Reilly?
- 58:44SPEAKER_03: They thought the name of it was Teenage Wasteland.
- 58:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think.
- 58:48SPEAKER_03: I was like, I was adamant.
- 58:49SPEAKER_03: I was like, no.
- 58:50SPEAKER_03: Everybody thinks that it is Baba O'Reilly.
- 58:52SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 58:53SPEAKER_03: Look it up.
- 58:54SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 58:55SPEAKER_03: But they don't say Baba O'Reilly anywhere in the street.
- 58:58SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 58:59SPEAKER_06: But all right.
- 59:01SPEAKER_06: Van Halen's debut album.
- 59:04SPEAKER_06: Great album.
- 59:06SPEAKER_06: Most popular track.
- 59:07SPEAKER_06: Alright, okay.
- 59:08SPEAKER_06: Let's see if we can do this.
- 59:09SPEAKER_06: Ain't talking about love.
- 59:10SPEAKER_06: Wait, hold hold on.
- 59:10SPEAKER_06: Let's see if we can do this.
- 59:12SPEAKER_06: That's all you, maybe.
- 59:13SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 59:14SPEAKER_06: It opens with.
- 59:15SPEAKER_06: I probably can't do it, actually.
- 59:17SPEAKER_06: What?
- 59:18SPEAKER_06: Uh so it opens with Runin' with the Devil.
- 59:21SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 59:21SPEAKER_06: Um, and then you have Ain't Talking About Love.
- 59:24SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 59:24SPEAKER_06: Then you have Eruption.
- 59:26SPEAKER_06: You Really Got Me.
- 59:27SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 59:28SPEAKER_06: And then you have uh Doesn't go into Atomic Punk.
- 59:33SPEAKER_06: Nope.
- 59:35SPEAKER_06: Uh the last song on the first side, I can't remember.
- 59:37SPEAKER_06: I think it's like Um Is I'm the one on 1984.
- 59:41SPEAKER_03: I'm the one the one that's on uh two, I think.
- 59:45SPEAKER_06: Nope.
- 59:46SPEAKER_03: Maybe Children first.
- 59:48SPEAKER_06: Nope.
- 59:48SPEAKER_06: I'm the one is either on Van Halen 1 or 1984.
- 59:52SPEAKER_03: It's not on 1984.
- 59:53SPEAKER_06: So it's on so it's the last track on side one of the f of the debut album.
- 59:57SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 59:57SPEAKER_06: We'll double check.
- 59:59SPEAKER_06: And then the second side, Jamie's Crying.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_06: Atomic Punk.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_03: There it is.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_06: Uh Little Dreamer.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_06: Feel your love tonight.
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_06: Ice Cream Man.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_04: Ice Cream Man's on the thing.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_06: So the most popular you said on is.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_03: Probably ain't talking about love.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_06: Oh, close.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_06: Run with the devil.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_06: Oh, is it really?
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_06: It is.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_06: I was surprised.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_06: I would be surprised too.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_06: I'm surprised by that.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_06: Oh.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_06: Maybe I'm wrong.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_06: I'm the one must be on 84.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_03: I don't think so, man.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_06: Because I'm because I forgot a song.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_06: So the debut album, the most skipped track is I'm on fire.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_03: That's the most skipped track?
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_06: Really?
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_03: I'm on fire.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_03: Wow, I like that song.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_06: What would you skip on on that album?
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_03: I don't think I'd skip any of that.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_06: I don't think I would either.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_03: I really would.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_03: I don't think I'd skip anything.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_06: I love that.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_06: I think I saw something, some list similar to this one time, and and um they said the worst song on Van Halen's debut album is Little Dreamer.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, dude, I love that song.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_04: That song's so good.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_06: So are you looking up the track list?
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_03: I think it's on 84.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_03: Van Halen.
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_06: I'm pretty sure it's on 84.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_03: No, it's on the uh it's on the first one.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_06: Is it?
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_06: Well then where's On Fire?
- 1:01:25SPEAKER_06: On Fire must be Is that Van Hunen 2?
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_06: No, it says it's on the debut album.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_06: Look up the track list for the debut album.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_06: Because I know I'm pretty close.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_06: Track list I said it was running with the devil.
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_06: Ain't talking about love.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_06: Van Eruption, You Really Got Me.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_06: And it must be on fire.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_06: Must be on fire must be after you really got me.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_03: Van Halen.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_03: Four.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_03: Track listing for Van Halen.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_03: Okay, okay, just okay, here we go.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_03: Finally.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_03: Why are you so stupid?
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_06: You're talking to yourself or the phone?
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_03: I always call myself stupid, so it's hard to tell sometimes.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_03: Uh track listing.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_02: Okay, here we go.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_03: Ah, running with the double eruption, you really got me.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_03: Ain't talking about love.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_06: Oh, I had those reversed.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_03: I'm the one who's the last track on side one.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_06: Okay, and then the second side.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_03: Jamie's Crying, Atomic Punk, Feel Your Love Tonight, Little Dreamer, Ice Cream Man, On Fire.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_06: On Fire is after Ice Cream Man.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that's the last one.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_06: I always thought Ice Cream Man was the last one on the album.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_06: It is the last one on the album.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_06: You said On Fire was after Ice Cream Man.
- 1:02:53SPEAKER_06: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_06: What did you just say?
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_06: I just said I always thought Ice Cream Man was the last one on the album.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_06: That makes sense.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_06: That makes sense.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_06: But I did have them, the first ones reversed.
- 1:03:03SPEAKER_06: I said it was Running with the Devil, ain't talking about love, Eruption, and then You Really Got Me, but it was it was Running with the Devil, Eruption, You Really Got Me.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_03: And then it's talking about love.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_03: And I'm the one.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_03: Okay, there we go.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_06: Cleared that up.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_06: Yeah, cleared that up.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_06: We're super smart.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_06: Thanks to Google.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_06: Are there any albums that you can think of, just off the top of your head?
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_06: But that you wouldn't skip any.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_03: Uh hysteria.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 1:03:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I don't I don't skip any off that.
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_03: Um try to think.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_03: Try to think.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_03: Uh uh Master Puppets.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_03: I don't skip anything off that album.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_06: Um, I might skip on Def Leopard's Hysteria.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_06: I might skip women.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_03: No, I like that song.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_06: Well, I do too, but I mean if I had to pick one on that album, it would be women.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_03: I could that's one of the albums I could play start to finish.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_06: And that's how they designed it, actually.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:04:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:04:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:04:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_06: So um very cool.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_06: So that is our list for today.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_06: So Yay let's while we um let's oh yeah, you know what we need to do?
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_06: I need to get this ready because Yeah, baby.

- 1:04:24SPEAKER_04: The pod show.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_13: The showcast.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_04: Uh Ferguson, could you fetch me?
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_06: Oh, I like that.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_06: Ferguson.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_04: It'll be our invisible butler.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_06: Ferguson.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_04: Ferguson.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_04: That's a cool name.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_03: It is a cool name, isn't it?
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_04: Ferguson.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_04: Ferguson.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_03: Where did Oh, I know where I got it from.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_03: Fraser.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_03: He had a he had a butler for one episode.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_03: And his name was Ferguson.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 1:05:01SPEAKER_06: Soon our lovely judge will be doing this.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_06: I hope so.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_06: I think that'd be kind of neat.
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_03: Okay, so she so we're now doing the voice note from her, so.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_06: I thought I turned this down.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_03: But I gotta find it first.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_05: Hold on.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_06: But do you remember what the question was?
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_05: I don't remember it.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_03: Remember now.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_03: Hopefully.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_04: Hopefully she'll give me a clue when she.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_04: Okay, so alright.
- 1:05:33SPEAKER_04: Turn turn up the value here.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_02: Alright, here we go.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_03: So this is past.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_00: Um I really love twist the tweet.
- 1:05:47SPEAKER_00: It was freaking hard.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_00: Um, you're writing online and perfect.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_00: Um that's like.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_06: What was the big one?
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_00: For somebody for being alone and to work, they're definitely gonna be your best friend.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_06: Thank you, Judgeness.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_06: She's not wrong, though.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_06: Chariots of fire is a little cliche.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_06: Oh, sure, yeah.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_06: Yeah, a little bit.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_05: I get that.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_05: Um all right.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_06: So this week's question.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_03: So that was the uh what song or artist changed the way you thought about music?
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so I did hear back from Cousin Larry.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_06: Alright.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_03: So alright.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_06: Actually, let me turn off the music here.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_03: So, this is what Cousin Larry said.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_03: Mixtape.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_03: So many bands or songs that I found influential.
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_03: The Beatles blew my mind for sure, as did Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Rush, and ACDC, to name a few.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_03: But I would have you go with Van Halen as their debut album, really blew me away after listening to the softer side of the 70s before that.
- 1:07:27SPEAKER_03: Running with the Devil would be the song.
- 1:07:30SPEAKER_03: Honorable mention to Kiss and The Who, and their songs Detroit Rock City and Baba Riley.
- 1:07:36SPEAKER_03: O'Reilly.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_03: So we can just talk about those.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:07:39SPEAKER_03: Two really kick butt songs to an 11-year-old kid just discovering rock music.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_03: Side note, yes, I realized Detroit Rock City and Baba O'Reilly were released before Van Halen's debut, but I think as a kid that album really just changed my musical taste.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_02: So there you go.
- 1:08:09SPEAKER_05: That is my fault.
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_05: What happened?
- 1:08:11SPEAKER_05: I I I had my hand on the don't do that! Sorry.
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_06: Alright.
- 1:08:26SPEAKER_06: Uh what's your choice?
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_03: Well, I couldn't really, I didn't really, it took me a long time to think of this one.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:08:35SPEAKER_03: But I think it was when I first started listening to jazz.
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_03: And I was listening to Buddy Rich.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_03: And the song Channel One Suite.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_03: That just blew my mind.
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_03: So I think that that would be the song for me.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_03: Uh this one right here.
- 1:10:49SPEAKER_03: First time I heard the song, I I l I just repeat.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_06: So it changed the way you thought about music.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_03: Well, it just it it didn't, it just opened my horizons because before then I was just, you know, strictly rock, metal, you know, that kind of when I heard Buddy Rich and especially this song, I was like, what is happening?
- 1:11:10SPEAKER_06: So I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_03: So that um all right So it would just really broaden my horizons and how I how I view music now.
- 1:11:17SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 1:11:18SPEAKER_06: So um I went the same route that you took, I think.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_06: You picked Buddy Rich too.
- 1:11:25SPEAKER_06: I didn't pick Buddy Rich, but I thought about because because the question was what's what song or artist made you change the way you think about music, right?
- 1:11:35SPEAKER_06: And you know Yes, I mean I could go with cousin cousin Larrency Van Halen, obviously Van Halen.
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_06: I live but I was listening to that.
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_06: And and that's true.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_06: They did change the way I felt about music, but I was so keyed into that style of music for a long time.
- 1:11:53SPEAKER_06: So I was into classic rock and and rock in general, and but I was into pop and and stuff like that.
- 1:11:59SPEAKER_06: So the artist, the music that uh changed the way I think about music was really um when I was on the radio at uh Channel X years ago, I had a news guy that we bantered back and forth every once in a while.
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 1:12:19SPEAKER_06: And his name's Chris.
- 1:12:20SPEAKER_06: And imagine that.
- 1:12:22SPEAKER_06: His name is Chris.
- 1:12:23SPEAKER_06: Um but he turned me on to an artist uh well, I'll just let me let me cue it up because I don't have it queued up yet.
- 1:12:32SPEAKER_06: He turned me on to an artist that was so bare bones um that I just uh kind of wondered how he had the following that he had, because he had a huge following.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_06: Uh he just passed away a couple years ago, I think.
- 1:12:53SPEAKER_06: Um but that's George Winston.
- 1:12:55SPEAKER_06: Uh I don't know if you know who George Winston is.
- 1:12:57SPEAKER_06: I know the name.
- 1:12:59SPEAKER_06: Um George Winston is a, for lack of a better term, and it doesn't really apply to him, but new age piano player.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:13:09SPEAKER_06: Uh and I have pretty much everything George Winston put out ever since Chris uh introduced me to him.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_06: And what it is, it's it's stuff like this.
- 1:13:32SPEAKER_06: And when I say it changed the way I think about music, it's doesn't have to have a verse and a chorus.
- 1:13:42SPEAKER_06: Do you know what I mean?
- 1:13:43SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_06: It this is relaxation, this is pensive, this is it's there for a different purpose than the music that I had been listening to to that point.
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_06: Do you know what I mean?
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_06: I had been listening to music to hear a story or to get a vibe or to rock out, you know?
- 1:14:06SPEAKER_06: And then I hear this and I'm like, whoa.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's like, whoa, what's happening?
- 1:14:13SPEAKER_06: He's just sitting down at a piano and and making stuff up.
- 1:14:18SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:14:18SPEAKER_06: Nice, beautiful melodies, and it's just so relaxing to this day.
- 1:14:24SPEAKER_06: I mean, his sister is a teacher across the hall from me.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_06: And when her second grade is reading or just, you know, she puts this music on, and it just calms them right down.
- 1:14:38SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:14:38SPEAKER_06: You know?
- 1:14:39SPEAKER_06: So my pick is George Winston.
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_06: Um and I mean you could pick any.
- 1:14:47SPEAKER_06: Was it could you have to pick a song?
- 1:14:49SPEAKER_06: No, you don't have to.
- 1:14:50SPEAKER_06: You can just pick an artist.
- 1:14:51SPEAKER_06: George Winston.
- 1:14:52SPEAKER_06: Um and this album is called Summer.
- 1:14:56SPEAKER_06: That's from 1991.
- 1:14:58SPEAKER_06: Um, but it's timeless stuff.
- 1:15:01SPEAKER_06: And he has influenced a bunch of other artists that are kind of doing the same, the same thing.
- 1:15:07SPEAKER_06: But yeah, I took that literally.
- 1:15:08SPEAKER_06: What what what album or what artist made you change the way you think about music?
- 1:15:12SPEAKER_06: I would say it's that guy.
- 1:15:13SPEAKER_06: There you go.
- 1:15:14SPEAKER_06: George Winston.
- 1:15:15SPEAKER_06: So George George Winston, yours was Buddy Rich, Channel One Suite.
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_06: Channel One Suite, and Cousin Larry's was Van Halen with the Running with the Devil.
- 1:15:27SPEAKER_04: Running with the Devil.
- 1:15:28SPEAKER_06: You know what I almost went with?
- 1:15:30SPEAKER_06: Uh um a uh honorable mention to this.
- 1:15:40SPEAKER_06: Do you remember PM Dawn?
- 1:15:42SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 1:15:44SPEAKER_06: Along those same lines, it was around that time that same time that I got introduced to George Winston that this song came on.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_06: The radio.
- 1:15:59SPEAKER_06: I'd die without you?
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_06: Yeah, listen.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_07: The fiction of my world, even imaginary motions.
- 1:16:08SPEAKER_07: Tell myself everything.
- 1:16:10SPEAKER_06: I think one of the one of the guys in PM Dawn just died recently, too.
- 1:16:13SPEAKER_03: Well, I've been seeing a lot of posts about them lately.
- 1:16:15SPEAKER_03: So thinking maybe uh, you know, uh something happened, but I didn't really read it.
- 1:16:21SPEAKER_06: Yeah, the driving force behind that that uh group, I think, passed away.
- 1:16:28SPEAKER_06: So you're looking for the future question?
- 1:16:31SPEAKER_03: Oh, this is a good one.
- 1:16:32SPEAKER_03: This will be interesting.
- 1:16:35SPEAKER_03: Future question.
- 1:16:39SPEAKER_03: The song you hate to love.
- 1:16:42SPEAKER_06: The song you hate to love.
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 1:16:48SPEAKER_06: The song you hate to love.
- 1:16:50SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 1:16:50SPEAKER_06: There's a lot of those.
- 1:16:52SPEAKER_06: I know.
- 1:16:53SPEAKER_06: That's why it's I just saw this, so before we go to break, I I do want to read this uh as much of it that I can.
- 1:17:04SPEAKER_06: Um so Jack Osborne, uh Ozzy's son, he just posted a message to Roger Waters.
- 1:17:15SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 1:17:16SPEAKER_06: I want to read it.
- 1:17:17SPEAKER_06: Alright.
- 1:17:18SPEAKER_06: Just because it's gonna be weird.
- 1:17:22SPEAKER_06: Well, he says, hey Roger Waters, F you.
- 1:17:27SPEAKER_06: How pathetic and out of touch you've become.
- 1:17:30SPEAKER_06: The only way you seem to get attention these days is by vomiting out bull crap in the press.
- 1:17:36SPEAKER_06: My father always thought you were a C-word.
- 1:17:38SPEAKER_06: Thanks for proving him right.
- 1:17:44SPEAKER_06: Take the gloves off, Jack.
- 1:17:47SPEAKER_03: That's funny, man.
- 1:17:48SPEAKER_06: Uh yeah.
- 1:17:49SPEAKER_06: So he obviously he has a bone to pick with Roger Waters, and he just did.
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_06: So and I just got this in, too.
- 1:17:58SPEAKER_06: Uh Van Halen's balance album sales spike nearly twenty-three thousand percent.
- 1:18:07SPEAKER_06: And the deluxe version completely sold out to retailers even before its release date.
- 1:18:13SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 1:18:14SPEAKER_06: Of all the Van Halen albums.
- 1:18:15SPEAKER_06: Now all of them, but why that one?
- 1:18:17SPEAKER_06: Well, exactly.
- 1:18:18SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I it's a great album.
- 1:18:19SPEAKER_06: Because it's the last one with Sammy?
- 1:18:21SPEAKER_06: Maybe.
- 1:18:22SPEAKER_06: I I don't know.
- 1:18:23SPEAKER_06: Maybe Sammy's buying them all.
- 1:18:25SPEAKER_06: What?
- 1:18:25SPEAKER_06: Uh sales spike nearly 23,000 percent.
- 1:18:29SPEAKER_03: 23,000 percent?
- 1:18:30SPEAKER_03: That's that's an insane number.
- 1:18:32SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:18:33SPEAKER_03: That's like defense budget numbers, you know, high.
- 1:18:35SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 1:18:36SPEAKER_06: Let me just uh I'm gonna go to the article here.
- 1:18:39SPEAKER_06: Um I know we're we're running long here, but let's see.
- 1:18:44SPEAKER_06: 30 years ago, Van Halen released its tenth album, Balance, which produced multiple smash hits this year to celebrate 30 dropped the balance expanded edition.
- 1:18:52SPEAKER_06: Fans have turned it into a bestseller again.
- 1:18:54SPEAKER_06: Balance sees its total sales skyrocket from one week to the next, as all three versions of the expanded edition are combined for charting purposes.
- 1:19:01SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's why.
- 1:19:05SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 1:19:06SPEAKER_06: So when you take all that together.
- 1:19:07SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 1:19:08SPEAKER_06: Forbes reports that the week before the expanded version dropped, Balance sold only double digit copies, which isn't unusual for such an old title.
- 1:19:15SPEAKER_06: The following week that number increased to more than 4,800 purchases.
- 1:19:19SPEAKER_06: Forty eight hundred?
- 1:19:21SPEAKER_03: That's nothing.
- 1:19:24SPEAKER_03: Uh when it came out, that was like the first five minutes.
- 1:19:27SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 1:19:27SPEAKER_03: You know, maybe three minutes.
- 1:19:29SPEAKER_06: Luminate reports that from one week to the next, balance experience a sales spike of almost twenty-three thousand percent.
- 1:19:35SPEAKER_06: Well, yeah, when you th when you think about it like that, VanhalenStore.com reports that this is another one and done release, meaning that the record company prints a limited number of copies of each format, in this case a few thousand of each, that will not be reprinted.
- 1:19:50SPEAKER_06: That makes each format a limited edition and out of print out of the gate.
- 1:19:54SPEAKER_06: Interestingly, the deluxe version, the box set, had completely sold out to retailers before the August 15th release date, so it shouldn't be long before retailers start running out of the deluxe edition.
- 1:20:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah, but 23,000%, meaning you sold only double digit copies.
- 1:20:13SPEAKER_06: Like fifty.
- 1:20:16SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's a few.
- 1:20:16SPEAKER_06: And then the following week you sold 4,800.
- 1:20:18SPEAKER_06: That's very misleading.
- 1:20:19SPEAKER_06: It is very misleading.
- 1:20:22SPEAKER_06: Cause cause that album, when it came out, sold over a million.
- 1:20:27SPEAKER_06: I mean, it went multi-times platinum.
- 1:20:29SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:20:30SPEAKER_06: And and now they're saying it's up 23,000 percent by selling like a few thousand copies.
- 1:20:36SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it doesn't make any sense.
- 1:20:37SPEAKER_06: That's that's not cool.
- 1:20:40SPEAKER_04: It's stupid.
- 1:20:41SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's dumb.
- 1:20:42SPEAKER_06: Dumb.
- 1:20:42SPEAKER_06: Big old dumb.
- 1:20:44SPEAKER_06: Alright, let's take a break.
- 1:20:45SPEAKER_06: And we'll come back and we'll climb the wall of tunes.
- 1:20:47SPEAKER_06: We'll do stuff.

- 1:22:03SPEAKER_02: Like what loud.
- 1:22:04SPEAKER_02: There we go.
- 1:22:06SPEAKER_02: And we're B.
- 1:22:16SPEAKER_03: Sounds like something out of Charlie Brown.
- 1:22:27SPEAKER_06: Isn't that a Steely Dan song?
- 1:22:29SPEAKER_03: Could be.
- 1:22:30SPEAKER_03: Sounds like something out of a Charlie Brown cartoon to me.
- 1:22:35SPEAKER_06: Anyway, it's uh beautiful.
- 1:22:37SPEAKER_06: Let's start the music for uh Wall of Tunes.
- 1:22:42SPEAKER_06: And Doug's gonna read us a Beatles story.
- 1:22:44SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna read a Beatles.
- 1:22:47SPEAKER_03: Uh the song this week is Dig It.
- 1:22:49SPEAKER_02: Dig It.
- 1:22:49SPEAKER_02: I dig it.
- 1:22:50SPEAKER_02: Let It Be album.
- 1:22:51SPEAKER_03: Uh credited to all four Beatles.
- 1:22:56SPEAKER_03: Interesting.
- 1:22:57SPEAKER_03: Dig It started as a fledgling song by John called Can You Dig It?
- 1:23:01SPEAKER_03: Which consisted of variations of the title being sung over Riff.
- 1:23:07SPEAKER_03: The version released on Let It Be was an excerpt from a much longer jam in which all the Beatles made up lines on the spot, hence the shared composer credit.
- 1:23:17SPEAKER_03: There was a lot of time spent hanging around reading newspapers when they recorded, which might account for the references to the FBI and CIA.
- 1:23:26SPEAKER_03: Transcripts of studio conversations reveal George talking about blues guitarist BB King and distinguishing him from fellow blues man Freddie King.
- 1:23:35SPEAKER_03: Matt Busby was the heroic manager of Manchester United, one of England's most successful soccer teams.
- 1:23:44SPEAKER_05: There you go.
- 1:23:51SPEAKER_05: Hey.
- 1:23:53SPEAKER_05: Right?
- 1:23:54SPEAKER_05: It came in today.
- 1:23:55SPEAKER_05: Noise! Yeah.
- 1:23:58unknown: BB King.
- 1:24:00SPEAKER_05: BB King.
- 1:24:02SPEAKER_05: So what I was showing Doug came in today.
- 1:24:05SPEAKER_05: Let's see.
- 1:24:09SPEAKER_04: It sounds great.
- 1:24:10SPEAKER_04: Hold on.
- 1:24:11SPEAKER_04: Give it a second.
- 1:24:14SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 1:24:15SPEAKER_06: Testing one, two, three.
- 1:24:16SPEAKER_06: Testing one, two, three, testing one, two, three.
- 1:24:19SPEAKER_05: That's all I did.
- 1:24:20SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 1:24:21SPEAKER_06: My my new Jensen cassette recorder.
- 1:24:24SPEAKER_03: Wow, that's it.
- 1:24:27SPEAKER_03: Still got the plastic on there.
- 1:24:29SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:24:30SPEAKER_06: And it works.
- 1:24:30SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:24:32SPEAKER_03: But it sounds good.
- 1:24:33SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I'm excited about it.
- 1:24:34SPEAKER_06: So now I can um just sit and hit record and play and play.
- 1:24:40SPEAKER_03: That's awesome, man.
- 1:24:41SPEAKER_03: I'm glad it finally showed up.
- 1:24:43SPEAKER_03: I know, me too.
- 1:24:45SPEAKER_05: Alright.
- 1:24:48SPEAKER_06: It is uh time to climb the wall of tunes.
- 1:24:51SPEAKER_06: I have an album.
- 1:24:53SPEAKER_06: I don't think you're gonna get it.
- 1:24:55SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 1:24:56SPEAKER_06: Um do you want to try and guess?
- 1:24:58SPEAKER_06: Or do you want me to just tell you?
- 1:25:00SPEAKER_03: Do I know the artist at all?
- 1:25:01SPEAKER_03: Or I don't know.
- 1:25:03SPEAKER_03: Is there one little singer-songwriter in China?
- 1:25:05SPEAKER_06: Nope, it's not a singer-songwriter too.
- 1:25:06SPEAKER_06: It's a band?
- 1:25:07SPEAKER_06: It's a band.
- 1:25:08SPEAKER_06: It's a rock band.
- 1:25:09SPEAKER_06: It's a Canadian rock band.
- 1:25:10SPEAKER_06: It's Rush.
- 1:25:11SPEAKER_06: It's not.
- 1:25:12SPEAKER_06: Triumph.
- 1:25:13SPEAKER_06: Um, nope.
- 1:25:14SPEAKER_06: It is Brian Adams.
- 1:25:15SPEAKER_06: You probably don't know them.
- 1:25:17SPEAKER_06: Tragically, yep.
- 1:25:18SPEAKER_06: Nope.
- 1:25:18SPEAKER_06: Great Big C.
- 1:25:19SPEAKER_06: Nope.
- 1:25:21SPEAKER_06: Melodic rock.
- 1:25:22SPEAKER_06: Like uh like they're on Frontiers now.
- 1:25:26SPEAKER_03: Uh so they're older.
- 1:25:28SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 1:25:29SPEAKER_03: They've been around a while.
- 1:25:30SPEAKER_06: They've been around a while.
- 1:25:31SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 1:25:31SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 1:25:32SPEAKER_06: Is it cutting crew?
- 1:25:33SPEAKER_06: It's not cutting crew.
- 1:25:34SPEAKER_03: Are they cutting?
- 1:25:36SPEAKER_06: Cutting cutting crew, I don't think, are Canadian.
- 1:25:39SPEAKER_06: Are you thinking of uh a glass tiger?
- 1:25:42SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:25:43SPEAKER_06: Yeah, Glass Tiger.
- 1:25:44SPEAKER_06: They're Canadian.
- 1:25:45SPEAKER_06: Um Yeah, I don't think you know 'em.
- 1:25:47SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 1:25:47SPEAKER_06: So I'll just give it to you.
- 1:25:49SPEAKER_06: Alright.
- 1:25:49SPEAKER_06: And if I if you do know them, please tell me.
- 1:25:52SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 1:25:52SPEAKER_06: Harem Scarum.
- 1:25:53SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, I know them.
- 1:25:54SPEAKER_03: You know them?
- 1:25:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:25:55SPEAKER_03: Would you like to?
- 1:25:56SPEAKER_03: I know all of them.
- 1:25:56SPEAKER_03: I know I know any songs.
- 1:25:57SPEAKER_06: I was gonna say, would you have guessed it?
- 1:25:59SPEAKER_06: I probably know.
- 1:25:59SPEAKER_06: Probably not.
- 1:26:00SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 1:26:00SPEAKER_06: So I was down to uh what did I go down to Bangor for?
- 1:26:05SPEAKER_06: Oh.
- 1:26:05SPEAKER_06: Uh the boys had a round robin uh preseason soccer uh tournament in Hampton uh last Saturday.
- 1:26:13SPEAKER_06: So obviously I went to Bull Moose.
- 1:26:15SPEAKER_06: Just past Saturday?
- 1:26:16SPEAKER_06: Just past Saturday.
- 1:26:16SPEAKER_06: Oh, okay.
- 1:26:17SPEAKER_06: Obviously I went to Bull Moose.
- 1:26:18SPEAKER_06: Obviously.
- 1:26:18SPEAKER_06: And I picked up I picked up uh the latest.
- 1:26:21SPEAKER_03: I would be surprised if either one of us ever went to Bangor and they were like, hey, hey, Doug, what'd you do in Bangor?
- 1:26:27SPEAKER_03: Well, I went to Wendy's and I went to Maine military and I went to that's the and Bull Moo and Bull Moose.
- 1:26:34SPEAKER_03: If if I didn't say any one of those three things, you've been like, what happened?
- 1:26:38SPEAKER_03: Did you go to the hospital?
- 1:26:39SPEAKER_03: Did you get in an accident?
- 1:26:40SPEAKER_03: Do you go to Maine Military every time you go?
- 1:26:42SPEAKER_03: Almost every time.
- 1:26:43SPEAKER_06: Really?
- 1:26:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I like to look at the knives and the stuff.
- 1:26:45SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah, no, I love that story.
- 1:26:46SPEAKER_03: And all the surplus military stuff.
- 1:26:48SPEAKER_06: Yeah, no, I like that too.
- 1:26:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:26:49SPEAKER_03: I don't Did I ever tell you about the time that Josh and I went there?
- 1:26:52SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 1:26:53SPEAKER_03: I used to go down like on a Saturday after work and I'd go down, I'd pick Josh up at the time.
- 1:26:58SPEAKER_06: We're talking about Maine Military Supply.
- 1:27:00SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 1:27:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:27:01SPEAKER_03: Uh it's right outside the city.
- 1:27:03SPEAKER_03: Um I'd pick up Josh at the university when he was going to school there.
- 1:27:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:27:07SPEAKER_03: And we would just we would go to Bonwoose and stuff like that, and we'd always go to Maine Military.
- 1:27:12SPEAKER_03: Well, we were going to Maine Military one time, and as we were turning in, a truck was coming out, and the the tailgate was down, and this saw that because you know, you get out on that road, it's always busy, so when you get a chance to go, you gun it, right?
- 1:27:29SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:27:29SPEAKER_03: He gunned it, and this saw, like a reciprocating saw, yeah, flew out the back end and just all over the road.
- 1:27:38SPEAKER_03: We were like, holy crap.
- 1:27:40SPEAKER_03: So we so we so I parked and Josh and I got out and we were like picking it up, picking it up, putting in the back of the case and stuff like that.
- 1:27:46SPEAKER_03: It did it didn't really damage it, but it just went it was in a case, and when the case hit the hit the pavement, everything just came out of the case.
- 1:27:53SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 1:27:54SPEAKER_03: But everything was fine.
- 1:27:55SPEAKER_03: So we just put it in best as we could and you know, we went inside and we and there was a A girl working behind the counter, we say, Hey, uh a white truck just left here, and when they left, it this fell out of the the back end of it.
- 1:28:09SPEAKER_03: Uh she was like, Oh my god, thank you so much.
- 1:28:11SPEAKER_03: And so, you know, we gave it back to her.
- 1:28:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:28:14SPEAKER_03: So Josh and I are just looking around and stuff.
- 1:28:16SPEAKER_03: And she comes up to her later and she's like, uh, anything you guys want is 50% off.
- 1:28:21SPEAKER_03: And we're like, uh, excuse me?
- 1:28:24SPEAKER_03: She goes, yeah, that was the owner.
- 1:28:29SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 1:28:30SPEAKER_03: As a thank you, he wants anything you guys get is 50% off.
- 1:28:33SPEAKER_03: I was like, sweet!
- 1:28:34SPEAKER_05: Did you get a gun?
- 1:28:36SPEAKER_03: No, I shut up, man.
- 1:28:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's cool.
- 1:28:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so that was cool.
- 1:28:41SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 1:28:41SPEAKER_03: No, yeah, I didn't know.
- 1:28:42SPEAKER_03: Say it pays to be a good citizen.
- 1:28:44SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 1:28:45SPEAKER_03: You know?
- 1:28:46SPEAKER_06: I I try and go to I I I don't go every time I go to Bangor.
- 1:28:49SPEAKER_06: It's not like Bull Moose, but I love that store.
- 1:28:53SPEAKER_03: Oh, I love it.
- 1:28:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:28:54SPEAKER_03: They got an indoor shooting range.
- 1:28:55SPEAKER_03: I mean, they I think they still have a paintball field.
- 1:28:58SPEAKER_03: Yep, I think they do.
- 1:28:58SPEAKER_03: They have a Russian MiG.
- 1:29:00SPEAKER_03: Yep, which is you know, it's like, what the frick?
- 1:29:03SPEAKER_03: Where do you guys find this crap?
- 1:29:05SPEAKER_06: It's good stuff.
- 1:29:06SPEAKER_06: Alright, so the album that I uh picked, I actually picked up last Saturday.
- 1:29:11SPEAKER_06: It's their brand new album.
- 1:29:12SPEAKER_06: Oh.
- 1:29:13SPEAKER_06: It's called Chasing Euphoria.
- 1:29:15unknown: Alright.
- 1:29:15SPEAKER_06: Uh, from Harem Scaram.
- 1:29:16SPEAKER_06: Now, Harem Scaram has been around since I think probably the early 90s.
- 1:29:20SPEAKER_03: They've been around a while, yeah.
- 1:29:21SPEAKER_06: They've been around a while, had some great stuff, and really nothing that you would know.
- 1:29:26SPEAKER_03: Um, they've always been under the radar.
- 1:29:29SPEAKER_06: But really good.
- 1:29:30SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:29:30SPEAKER_06: Really good.
- 1:29:31SPEAKER_06: So um this is the first single from Chasing Euphoria, which again came out this year.
- 1:29:37SPEAKER_06: Uh, it's called Better the Devil You Know.
- 1:31:01SPEAKER_06: So it's just it's melodic rock.
- 1:31:03SPEAKER_06: It's there's a there's a good hook to it, there's a good melody to it.
- 1:31:06SPEAKER_06: There's one called Slow Burn.
- 1:31:22SPEAKER_06: Frontiers is really the only one that has this kind of music anymore.
- 1:31:26SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, everything else boxed.
- 1:31:28SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 1:31:28SPEAKER_03: I don't know about that, but yeah.
- 1:32:12SPEAKER_06: I mean, it's build up to it.
- 1:32:18SPEAKER_06: And yes, it it does sound dated.
- 1:32:19SPEAKER_06: I mean, it sounds like something from the 80s, but Yeah, but you're not gonna hear it on the radio.
- 1:32:24SPEAKER_06: You're right, you're not.
- 1:32:24SPEAKER_06: You're not gonna hear anything like this on the radio.
- 1:32:26SPEAKER_06: So if you like that type of thing, that sounds like something that would be in like an 80s karate kid movie or something.
- 1:32:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, late 80s, early 90s, you know, something like that.
- 1:32:36SPEAKER_03: I mean, that that's like, you know, like you know, boom box on the shoulder type thing.
- 1:32:41SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 1:32:41SPEAKER_06: You know, so so people are still making this kind of music, you just it's just hard to find.
- 1:32:45SPEAKER_06: You're not gonna hear it.
- 1:32:45SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:32:46SPEAKER_06: It's just hard to find.
- 1:32:47SPEAKER_06: So that is uh Harem Scarum, the new album Chasing Euphoria.
- 1:32:51SPEAKER_06: I might have to get that.
- 1:32:52SPEAKER_06: Yeah, no, it's good.
- 1:32:53SPEAKER_06: It's good.
- 1:32:53SPEAKER_06: It's good.
- 1:32:53SPEAKER_06: I like a lock.
- 1:32:56SPEAKER_06: Just just just for um just for frame of reference, this one came out in 2014.
- 1:33:02SPEAKER_06: I love this song.
- 1:33:04SPEAKER_06: This one's from the album 13.
- 1:33:10SPEAKER_06: Underrated band as far as I'm concerned.
- 1:33:15SPEAKER_11: No god! No fail! No worries, everything's pay, no fail, no way, live a lot, no bad, no pain, no big one!
- 1:34:06SPEAKER_06: And again, that's from uh like twenty-four years ago.
- 1:34:14SPEAKER_06: No, it's not.
- 1:34:15SPEAKER_06: It's nine years ago.
- 1:34:16SPEAKER_06: Right?
- 1:34:17SPEAKER_06: Twenty fourteen?
- 1:34:18SPEAKER_06: Twenty fourteen, it's nine years ago.
- 1:34:19SPEAKER_06: Like eleven years ago.
- 1:34:20SPEAKER_06: Eleven years ago, yeah.
- 1:34:21SPEAKER_03: I'm not even gonna bother to look because I know we've never done that.
- 1:34:24SPEAKER_06: Yeah, we've never done that.
- 1:34:24SPEAKER_03: How do you even say a spell harem?
- 1:34:26SPEAKER_06: Harem, H A R E M.
- 1:34:29SPEAKER_06: Scarum.
- 1:34:29SPEAKER_06: Scar.
- 1:34:30SPEAKER_06: C-A-C-A-E.
- 1:34:33SPEAKER_02: Scar.
- 1:34:34SPEAKER_06: S-C-A-R-E-M.
- 1:34:36SPEAKER_06: Harem, Scarum.
- 1:34:39SPEAKER_03: Hey, harem.
- 1:34:40SPEAKER_03: Scarum.
- 1:34:43SPEAKER_06: Uh and that's it.
- 1:34:44SPEAKER_06: That is episode 257.
- 1:34:47SPEAKER_06: Wow.
- 1:34:48SPEAKER_06: In the book.
- 1:34:50SPEAKER_06: And we did not videotape today, so you won't see any promo materials.
- 1:34:53SPEAKER_04: Nothing.
- 1:34:54SPEAKER_03: We're not YouTubing it.
- 1:34:56SPEAKER_06: Not today.
- 1:34:56SPEAKER_06: We'll we'll figure out.
- 1:34:57SPEAKER_06: We're gonna clean up the we gotta combo with the boss.
- 1:35:02SPEAKER_06: If we do.
- 1:35:02SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:35:03SPEAKER_06: And figure out what uh avenue we're gonna explore.
- 1:35:05SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 1:35:06SPEAKER_06: Um and uh yeah.
- 1:35:08SPEAKER_03: And then we gotta divide the riches that we're gonna have when we get big.
- 1:35:13SPEAKER_03: I was listening to uh Joe Rogan.
- 1:35:20SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:35:20SPEAKER_06: I was listening to uh try that in a small time podcast today.
- 1:35:24SPEAKER_06: Just keep driving around and uh they were talking about because actually there was a there was a guy who has a podcast who was interviewing them on their podcast.
- 1:35:31SPEAKER_06: It was kind of funny.
- 1:35:32SPEAKER_06: That was funny.
- 1:35:32SPEAKER_06: Um but uh he was asking about you know uh songwriting and how it's how the you know it works now and and uh Kelly Loveless, who's a just a an award-winning uh massive, suc massively successful Nashville songwriter, he comes on and he's talking about how you know radio is still very important to country songwriters and country music.
- 1:35:54SPEAKER_06: And the country listener uh still listens to radio.
- 1:35:57SPEAKER_06: And every time there's a song on the radio, um we make like nine cents every time it plays.
- 1:36:05SPEAKER_06: And, you know, streaming they make n not even a penny.
- 1:36:09SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 1:36:10SPEAKER_06: And then he says, and so, you know, we started uh this podcast where we make no money.
- 1:36:15SPEAKER_03: I mean the natural deep degression of things.
- 1:36:19SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 1:36:19SPEAKER_03: So we went from here, now we're making less money, now we're making no money.
- 1:36:24SPEAKER_06: So they are arguably a more more than arguably a more successful podcast than we have, and they're not making any money.
- 1:36:30SPEAKER_06: They have sponsors and everything, and and they're not making any money.
- 1:36:32SPEAKER_03: They're like, But there's a lot of them too.
- 1:36:34SPEAKER_06: That's true.
- 1:36:35SPEAKER_03: There's really only four of us in this one.
- 1:36:38SPEAKER_03: Four of us?
- 1:36:39SPEAKER_03: Well, us two and live and cousin Larry and the judge.
- 1:36:43SPEAKER_03: True.
- 1:36:44SPEAKER_03: So there's five.
- 1:36:46SPEAKER_06: True.
- 1:36:47SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:36:47SPEAKER_06: I uh I don't foresee us making a lot of money.
- 1:36:50SPEAKER_03: Well, when we get like five million subscribers, then we'll make money.
- 1:36:55SPEAKER_03: Then we're gonna make like seven bucks.
- 1:36:57SPEAKER_06: Then we have to split that four ways.
- 1:36:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we're gonna split that five ways.
- 1:37:03SPEAKER_06: Yeah, you mean the judge.
- 1:37:10SPEAKER_06: The judges.
- 1:37:12SPEAKER_03: Um like seven bucks divided by five.
- 1:37:20SPEAKER_03: I mean, that's a good payday.
- 1:37:21SPEAKER_06: About nine tenths.
- 1:37:23SPEAKER_03: I mean, that's more than we're getting now.
- 1:37:26SPEAKER_03: This is true.
- 1:37:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:37:27SPEAKER_06: So I mean it's gonna be awesome.
- 1:37:29SPEAKER_06: Obviously, we're not in it for the money.
- 1:37:30SPEAKER_06: So that's all I'm doing.
- 1:37:31SPEAKER_03: No.
- 1:37:32unknown: Good lord.
- 1:37:33SPEAKER_03: We don't very little we do for the money.
- 1:37:36SPEAKER_03: That's true.
- 1:37:37SPEAKER_03: I mean, we're music music, there's no money.
- 1:37:39SPEAKER_03: Well, I mean, we're still making the same now as musicians were making in the 70s.
- 1:37:44SPEAKER_06: My wife's chagrin, she's yeah, she's gonna say, You guys need to raise your prices, raise your prices, you need to ask for more.
- 1:37:49SPEAKER_06: And she's right.
- 1:37:50SPEAKER_06: But we never do.
- 1:37:51SPEAKER_03: We never do, because nobody's gonna pay it.
- 1:37:54SPEAKER_06: Well, I don't know.
- 1:37:54SPEAKER_06: We might be surprised.
- 1:37:55SPEAKER_03: Well, we might be, but I mean it would be we wouldn't get as many gigs.
- 1:37:59SPEAKER_06: That's true.
- 1:38:00SPEAKER_06: That's true.
- 1:38:01SPEAKER_06: And that's that's the reason I give her.
- 1:38:02SPEAKER_06: You know, we want to continue working.
- 1:38:05SPEAKER_03: The population base is small.
- 1:38:06SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:38:07SPEAKER_03: And there's not as many places to play, and there's not as many people up here.
- 1:38:11SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 1:38:12SPEAKER_03: I mean, if we were down in Nashville with Joko, yeah, we'd probably talk about it.
- 1:38:15SPEAKER_06: We could probably talk to him.
- 1:38:16SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:38:17SPEAKER_03: Maybe get 150.
- 1:38:19SPEAKER_03: Who knows?
- 1:38:21SPEAKER_06: Let's dream big.
- 1:38:23SPEAKER_06: On that note, uh, that's it for this episode.
- 1:38:26SPEAKER_06: I'm O'Brien.
