- 0:00Speaker 1: Howdy ho, NewsRadio 570. Welcome. Hey, another one of those days.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Cloudy skies, on and off showers, and chilly temperatures. How
- 0:09Speaker 1: about that for your May 8th on this Friday afternoon?
- 0:11Speaker 1: It looks like Saturday's going to be kind of spotty
- 0:14Speaker 1: with some showers as well. I'm all choked up here
- 0:18Speaker 1: as we start this afternoon's broadcast till 6.30. Guardians pregame
- 0:23Speaker 1: at 6.30 tonight here on NewsRadio 570. What do you
- 0:26Speaker 1: give me on? Are you tired yet of the cloudy skies,
- 0:30Speaker 1: the chilly temperatures, and the constant rain? Is it just
- 0:35Speaker 1: getting to you? Yes. I mean, everything is so saturated
- 0:40Speaker 1: and so wet. It's really something. Anyway, good afternoon. Let's see.
- 0:48Speaker 1: S & P 500 hits record on strong jobs reports
- 0:51Speaker 1: and are on deal hopes. That's for six straight winning week.
- 0:57Speaker 1: They keep talking about an Iran deal. When is that
- 1:00Speaker 1: going to happen? They've been talking about it for weeks.
- 1:02Speaker 1: So we wait and we see. We wait and we see.
- 1:07Speaker 2: U.S.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Payroll jumps more than expected, but the report had several
- 1:10Speaker 1: red flags for the economy. Consumer confidence falls to record
- 1:15Speaker 1: lows in May as rising gas prices are affected, obviously,
- 1:20Speaker 1: an effect on that. Consumer confidence, how secure do you
- 1:24Speaker 1: feel about spending money When it comes to your world,
- 1:27Speaker 1: that doesn't surprise me at all. Doesn't shock me at all,
- 1:31Speaker 1: to say the least. Let's see. U.S. details military action
- 1:35Speaker 1: after Iran unleashes nonstop incoming fire in key oil routes. So,
- 1:41Speaker 1: what's going on there? It's not a good sign. You're
- 1:46Speaker 1: on the air.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Hey, Ron, how you doing?
- 1:49Speaker 1: I had a guy call me the other day. He said,
- 1:52Speaker 1: are you listening to Frank? He said, did you hear him?
- 1:54Speaker 1: He took one of your He bought one stock you didn't.
- 1:56Speaker 1: He lost a bunch of money. And I said, you
- 1:58Speaker 1: don't sell when it's low, man. I mean, what was
- 2:01Speaker 1: up with that guy?
- 2:02Speaker 3: Now, wait a minute, Ron. I'm not allowed to tell
- 2:07Speaker 3: people what stocks to buy on the radio.
- 2:09Speaker 1: That's right. You were just talking about stocks. And he
- 2:12Speaker 1: was listening. He bought some stock. And then he said
- 2:15Speaker 1: it went down in value. And he sold it. And
- 2:19Speaker 1: I said, well, you sell high and buy when it's low.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Yeah, see?
- 2:25Speaker 3: You can be a stock advisor, too.
- 2:27Speaker 1: There you go. You know, I try to advise him.
- 2:30Speaker 1: You don't sell it. But he said to me, he
- 2:32Speaker 1: said to me, well, he needed the loss anyway. Believe
- 2:34Speaker 1: it or not, he said he needed the loss that year,
- 2:37Speaker 1: and then he bragged a little bit about your insights. Boy,
- 2:40Speaker 1: the fan club Fort Lauderdale, Frank, seems to be growing, friends.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Seems to be growing.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Well, I just lost a big fan today.
- 2:51Speaker 1: What happened today?
- 2:52Speaker 5: Well..
- 2:55Speaker 3: About seven days ago, I called my sister and left
- 2:59Speaker 3: a message. And she usually answers the phone or called back.
- 3:04Speaker 3: So the next day, I called and left a message.
- 3:08Speaker 3: She didn't call back. The next day, I called and
- 3:11Speaker 3: left a message. She didn't call back. So a couple
- 3:15Speaker 3: days later, I called the police department in North Carolina
- 3:20Speaker 3: where she lives. And I asked them if they would
- 3:23Speaker 3: go out.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Welfare check.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Knock on her door and see if she was okay.
- 3:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:29Speaker 3: So, police officer called me within two minutes. He said,
- 3:33Speaker 3: I need more information. Calls me back within five minutes. Says,
- 3:38Speaker 3: I went. Knocked on her door. She didn't answer. I
- 3:42Speaker 3: went to her neighbor and she said, oh, she's vacationing
- 3:46Speaker 3: in Europe. I drove her to the airport. So, today
- 3:50Speaker 3: I get a call from my sister. She said, you
- 3:53Speaker 3: are never ever to send the police out to my
- 3:57Speaker 3: house again. Do you hear me?
- 3:59Speaker 6: Never.
- 4:00Speaker 3: I said, if I do, what are you going to do,
- 4:03Speaker 3: drive down to Fort Lauderdale and shoot me? She said,
- 4:07Speaker 3: I wouldn't waste my time. And I says, okay, well,
- 4:13Speaker 3: then you'll hire somebody down here to come shoot me.
- 4:17Speaker 3: And my girlfriend's listening to the conversation. She says, Tell
- 4:22Speaker 3: your sister I'm available for the job.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Boy, oh, boy. The inner circle is, like, all coming
- 4:28Speaker 1: in on you.
- 4:31Speaker 3: I might be losing two fans now.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, what's up with that sister of yours?
- 4:36Speaker 1: All you are, you're just concerned that she, let's be realistic,
- 4:41Speaker 1: you thought she could be hurt or dead or who
- 4:43Speaker 1: knows what.
- 4:44Speaker 7: Uh-huh.
- 4:44Speaker 1: So you didn't know she was out of town. So
- 4:47Speaker 1: here it is, folks. This is terrible. So the good
- 4:51Speaker 1: side of Fort Lauderdale, Frank says, I'm worried about my sister.
- 4:53Speaker 1: She doesn't call me back. I don't know if she's
- 4:56Speaker 1: dead or she's hurt. He sends the cops out for
- 4:59Speaker 1: a welfare check. Here she's in Europe. She doesn't tell
- 5:02Speaker 1: him that. Then she's upset that you care about her.
- 5:05Speaker 8: Unbelievable.
- 5:07Speaker 1: You know, I need to talk to her.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Then I said to my girlfriend, I said, yeah, you'll probably...
- 5:15Speaker 3: Do the job for free. And she says, yeah, tell
- 5:17Speaker 3: your sister I won't charge her for it.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Boy, I tell you, these women that are enjoying the
- 5:23Speaker 1: lifestyle that you provide for them, and now they're trying
- 5:26Speaker 1: to do that. I tell you, it's not easy being you,
- 5:30Speaker 1: is it, Fort Lauderdale, Frank?
- 5:32Speaker 3: No, I don't think my other four girlfriends would volunteer
- 5:36Speaker 3: for the job.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Yeah, but I'm sitting here, Frank. Listen to this. It's
- 5:42Speaker 1: been a god-awful April and May. It's been just raining constantly.
- 5:46Speaker 1: I mean, not just raining a little bit, but huge
- 5:48Speaker 1: downpours we've been having here. Everything is so saturated. And
- 5:53Speaker 1: so yet another rainy day. Nothing can dry out, and
- 5:56Speaker 1: tomorrow is going to rain some more. And it's chilly temperature-wise.
- 5:59Speaker 1: It's 57. So I want to bellyache about my springtime,
- 6:04Speaker 1: which is very wet and very unusual for me here
- 6:08Speaker 1: in the great state of Ohio. Meanwhile, you sit there
- 6:10Speaker 1: in Fort Lauderdale with sunshine and blue skies.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Yeah, would you rather have 88 degree weather, though? It
- 6:16Speaker 3: was 94 the other day.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess I wouldn't mind. I guess I really
- 6:24Speaker 1: wouldn't mind. It would be nice.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Oh, by the way, I try to get back on
- 6:28Speaker 3: my sister's good side. Yes. So I says, you know,
- 6:33Speaker 3: tell me about your vacation. You know, would you like,
- 6:36Speaker 3: do you enjoy it? And she says, oh, yeah, we
- 6:40Speaker 3: went to Amsterdam and they, give you a guided tour
- 6:44Speaker 3: on foot, and we went to Antwerp, and she goes, now,
- 6:49Speaker 3: don't you start telling me about the history of all
- 6:53Speaker 3: these places. She goes, I know you know all about
- 6:57Speaker 3: European history, and I don't want to hear it. They
- 7:01Speaker 3: told me about, you know, William of Orange, and I'm
- 7:05Speaker 3: sure you know all about it. I said, yeah. He
- 7:08Speaker 3: was the king of the Netherlands and After they got
- 7:12Speaker 3: rid of their king in England, they invited him to
- 7:16Speaker 3: come over to be their king, and he married Mary,
- 7:20Speaker 3: a woman princess in England, and that's where they got
- 7:24Speaker 3: the name William and Mary College in the United States.
- 7:29Speaker 3: And she said, I told you not to tell me
- 7:31Speaker 3: about that.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Well, see, if she continues to be tough on you,
- 7:35Speaker 1: you've got to send her on that cruise ship that
- 7:38Speaker 1: has this virus that's going around. What the hell is
- 7:41Speaker 1: it that's knocking off the passengers? Now, here's a great
- 7:45Speaker 1: vacation idea. We're going to go on this cruise ship,
- 7:47Speaker 1: and we're going to go to places in South America
- 7:50Speaker 1: that are very rarely visited by tourists, if you will.
- 7:57Speaker 1: So we're going to go to these places. Oh, this
- 7:59Speaker 1: sounds like a great idea. What could possibly go wrong? Well,
- 8:03Speaker 1: you go to these places that are rarely visited and
- 8:06Speaker 1: don't have necessarily the best conditions that you're used to.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Your immune system isn't used to it. And then you
- 8:13Speaker 1: get back on a cruise ship and you're dead three
- 8:14Speaker 1: days later for a lot of these people because they
- 8:17Speaker 1: got this strange virus. Can you imagine? I mean, it's
- 8:21Speaker 1: like I have no desire to leave the country. I
- 8:24Speaker 1: have absolutely no desire.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Yeah, East Elm Carnival Cruise Lines, I think their home
- 8:30Speaker 3: port is Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Oh, there you go. I mean, you know, that's about
- 8:35Speaker 1: it for me. I mean, when I was reading that
- 8:38Speaker 1: kind of stuff, can you imagine being on that cruise?
- 8:40Speaker 1: And that's where it was going, South America, and these
- 8:42Speaker 1: places very rarely go. And you got people, what, three
- 8:47Speaker 1: of them dead? And then they're trying to track down
- 8:50Speaker 1: the passengers that got off the boat. So, I mean,
- 8:53Speaker 1: it's like, how would that make you feel? How was
- 8:55Speaker 1: your cruise? Oh, by the way, Fort Lauderdale, Frank and
- 8:59Speaker 1: the CDC are looking for you.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Oh, by the way, the stock market's doing well, but
- 9:08Speaker 3: I still got stops on everything.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Now, why is it doing well? I was reading in my,
- 9:14Speaker 1: you know, I always look at my Let's see. It
- 9:17Speaker 1: says here, S & P 500, its record on strong
- 9:21Speaker 1: jobs report in Iran deal hopes, heads for six straight
- 9:24Speaker 1: winning week. But, Frank, I keep saying this. I keep
- 9:27Speaker 1: hearing about the pending deal. I've heard about a pending
- 9:31Speaker 1: deal for weeks now.
- 9:32Speaker 7: Weeks.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Okay, so where is it? I mean, Monday it could
- 9:39Speaker 1: go right back down because there isn't a deal or
- 9:42Speaker 1: something happens over the weekends.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Well, you know, Ron, you hit it on the head.
- 9:49Speaker 3: It's because of hopes of a deal with Iran and
- 9:53Speaker 3: a good jobs report. But there are some warning signs.
- 9:59Speaker 3: A lot of money is starting to flow into safe treasuries.
- 10:05Speaker 3: That's called a flight to safety. And there's another thing
- 10:09Speaker 3: called a flight to quality. Back when Clinton was president,
- 10:15Speaker 3: I got out of the market at the end of...
- 10:18Speaker 3: December 1999. And one of the reasons why, when stocks
- 10:24Speaker 3: go up, and most of the stocks don't go up,
- 10:29Speaker 3: they stay about the same and maybe even start going down.
- 10:33Speaker 3: But the Dow Jones was going up while NASDAQ and
- 10:39Speaker 3: S & P 500 were not going up. And I said,
- 10:42Speaker 3: that's a troubling sign. And it got to the point
- 10:45Speaker 3: where 14 out of the 30 Dow Jones stocks were
- 10:49Speaker 3: going up, and the other 16 were not. So that's
- 10:54Speaker 3: why I decided to get out of the market. That's
- 10:56Speaker 3: called a flight to quality. When the big investors get
- 11:00Speaker 3: worried that we might be nearing a market top, they
- 11:04Speaker 3: start selling everything and putting everything into, like, Apple or
- 11:09Speaker 3: Alphabet or Google or NVIDIA. And I told you the
- 11:13Speaker 3: other day, I analyzed... 220 software stocks. I check with
- 11:19Speaker 3: market analysts and analyze, specialize in software, and I have
- 11:23Speaker 3: never seen so many sell recommendations in my life. So
- 11:30Speaker 3: I can't say for sure, but we may be seeing
- 11:33Speaker 3: a flight to quality right now as we speak.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it's definitely an uncertain time because, listen, I'll be
- 11:42Speaker 1: the first to say I'd love to see some type
- 11:44Speaker 1: of deal come out of this and get things hopefully
- 11:48Speaker 1: back focused on America first and inflation and oil prices.
- 11:52Speaker 1: I'd love to see that happen sooner than later. I
- 11:55Speaker 1: keep hearing talk about it, but all talk and no action.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Talk is cheap. Deeds are precious. I'd like to see
- 12:01Speaker 1: some type of resolution to this.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Oh, you know, oil hit a low of $ 90 a
- 12:09Speaker 3: barrel a few days ago. Yeah, that's pretty good lately.
- 12:15Speaker 3: But like I always say, as long as the Federal
- 12:21Speaker 3: Reserve continues to create money out of thin air, This
- 12:26Speaker 3: market is going to continue to go higher. It may
- 12:29Speaker 3: be overvalued, but it always can become even more overvalued
- 12:34Speaker 3: than it is now.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Yeah, you'll have to listen to Money Talks Thursday night
- 12:38Speaker 1: with John Early. He's starting his own fund. It's something
- 12:42Speaker 1: he always wanted to do. He's going to take 100 investors.
- 12:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I heard him.
- 12:49Speaker 1: I mean, I forget what you call that fund. It
- 12:51Speaker 1: starts with an H, I think.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Hedge fund, yes. All you need is $ 100, 000 to get started.
- 12:58Speaker 1: So he's going to start his own hedge fund.
- 13:00Speaker 3: I'm sure you've got that in your left pocket, right?
- 13:03Speaker 1: Well, you never know. But he's going to start his
- 13:05Speaker 1: own hedge funds. And, you know, there's obviously income requirements
- 13:08Speaker 1: to get into it. He's going to take 100 investors. People,
- 13:13Speaker 1: the money's kept separately, not with him. And then it's
- 13:17Speaker 1: capped out at $ 100 in his hedge fund. And so
- 13:20Speaker 1: then he's going to manage it like he has done. Basically,
- 13:25Speaker 1: he's done a lot of this with his own money,
- 13:27Speaker 1: if you will. And the returns he's getting are just unreal,
- 13:32Speaker 1: absolutely unreal. So that should be interesting. Just I put
- 13:36Speaker 1: that out there. Something for you to listen to Thursday
- 13:40Speaker 1: nights when John's on at 6 to 7, if you
- 13:44Speaker 1: catch him. Hello?
- 13:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Oh, I thought you went away. I thought you faded. Geez,
- 13:51Speaker 1: for just a minute, folks, I was going to call
- 13:52Speaker 1: the police and have them go to Fort Lauderdale and
- 13:54Speaker 1: do a welfare.
- 13:55Speaker 9: Check on Fort Lauderdale Frank.
- 13:57Speaker 1: I thought he might have dropped right over on the
- 13:59Speaker 1: phone when he was talking to me right there.
- 14:01Speaker 10: All right.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Well, we shall see what goes on. Who knows what's
- 14:05Speaker 1: going to be happening, Frank? I mean, I can't tell you, listen,
- 14:09Speaker 1: I think the economy's in a tough position right now.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Inflation's high. All our money's going to basically energy and
- 14:17Speaker 1: necessities and this kind of stuff. Hopefully we can get
- 14:20Speaker 1: back and get inflation under control and get things going
- 14:24Speaker 1: in the right direction sooner than later. We can't stay
- 14:26Speaker 1: on this course. And we better start to get concerned
- 14:28Speaker 1: about the debt of the country, too, Frank.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Well, do you know that... Oh, the, um, the, um, in, in, uh, the, uh.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Come on, spit it out.
- 14:46Speaker 3: What's the, uh, I'm talking about the, uh, um, the, um.
- 14:53Speaker 1: I got you. I got him rattled.
- 14:55Speaker 11: Yes.
- 14:56Speaker 3: No, no way. I got to talk about the, uh, Union, uh, uh, ship's.
- 15:05Speaker 1: You'll have to pick it up next time. I've got
- 15:07Speaker 1: to go. Thank you. Fort Lauderdale, Frank. I think today
- 15:14Speaker 1: was my lucky day. I think I rattled Fort Lauderdale, Frank.
- 15:19Speaker 1: I think I rattled him. I think he kind of
- 15:20Speaker 1: lost his place. You're on the air.
- 15:23Speaker 4: You had him on his heels.
- 15:24Speaker 1: I did, didn't I? There's something about that guy, though,
- 15:29Speaker 1: that I just enjoy. I can't even describe it.
- 15:32Speaker 12: I like him. He's a smart man. I listen to
- 15:36Speaker 12: him all the time. I just wish I had a
- 15:38Speaker 12: little extra money to make some investments.
- 15:43Speaker 4: My ears do perk up when he calls.
- 15:45Speaker 12: And I appreciate his patience. His ideas and his position.
- 15:52Speaker 12: So it's always a pleasure.
- 15:54Speaker 1: See, there you go.
- 15:55Speaker 12: Unlike my phone calls.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Yes. Well, see, this is the thing, folks. I think J.J.,
- 16:01Speaker 1: the liberal, I've made progress with him. It's give and
- 16:04Speaker 1: take sometimes. See, J.J. 's a guy that says, well,
- 16:07Speaker 1: I don't agree with that or I don't agree with
- 16:08Speaker 1: this when it comes to some of these liberal positions.
- 16:11Speaker 1: So you're salvageable, J.J., you're salvageable.
- 16:17Speaker 12: Yeah, well, I'm not a cheerleader for the Democratic Party either.
- 16:21Speaker 8: Amen.
- 16:23Speaker 12: The other thing, too, is I'm going to lean that way,
- 16:27Speaker 12: but if you're... I'll vote for a Republican.
- 16:29Speaker 4: If they're better than a Democrat.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Right.
- 16:31Speaker 12: That's a no-brainer there. I'd be foolish not to.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Right. So it's... You've got to vote in your best
- 16:40Speaker 1: interest when you go out to vote.
- 16:42Speaker 12: It's mostly mine and my family's, of course. It's going
- 16:44Speaker 12: to benefit us. But, yeah, I enjoy everybody's phone calls
- 16:49Speaker 12: except for, I think, Tony. Or, no, yeah, Tony or Nick.
- 16:53Speaker 12: They're the ones that I dread. But other than that,
- 16:55Speaker 12: everybody that calls in, even Ted C. and stuff like that,
- 16:58Speaker 12: I enjoy every– because I always learn something from everybody.
- 17:01Speaker 4: And they make me.
- 17:02Speaker 6: A better person.
- 17:03Speaker 4: Right.
- 17:05Speaker 1: You know, that is my mission here, J.J., the liberal.
- 17:08Speaker 1: My mission, to make you a better person.
- 17:11Speaker 12: You're going to have a hell of a time trying.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Yes, and I'm failing miserably. But do I give up?
- 17:19Speaker 12: I want to be a better person, Ron.
- 17:20Speaker 6: I want to.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Right, but I don't give up. I'm not giving up.
- 17:24Speaker 1: I'm still working on it. It's one day at a time, buddy.
- 17:27Speaker 7: I hope you don't.
- 17:28Speaker 12: Listen, real quick today, I know you're running your past 3.30,
- 17:31Speaker 12: because you're going to have your commercial, but do you
- 17:36Speaker 12: have a second? I just wanted to get your opinion
- 17:39Speaker 12: on when he was talking to the press today. I
- 17:43Speaker 12: don't know if you saw it today. There was a couple.
- 17:45Speaker 1: I did not see it.
- 17:46Speaker 7: Why?
- 17:46Speaker 1: What did he do?
- 17:48Speaker 12: Well, he was asked about, you know, they were cleaning
- 17:51Speaker 12: up the reflecting pond. And, you know, Lincoln Memorial, and
- 17:58Speaker 12: they asked him why he was so intense on doing
- 18:01Speaker 12: that when, you know, gas prices are where they are.
- 18:03Speaker 12: It was just a snotty.
- 18:04Speaker 4: Question, but it was still a..
- 18:06Speaker 12: And he was just saying how bad they were and
- 18:08Speaker 12: that there were seven or eleven truckloads of garbage.
- 18:11Speaker 11: That was in it.
- 18:13Speaker 4: And I was laughing because it was..
- 18:15Speaker 12: It obviously wasn't true, and it's just kind of funny
- 18:17Speaker 12: when I see the... Over-exaggeration of those certain things, and
- 18:21Speaker 12: I just didn't know if you saw it in it.
- 18:23Speaker 12: I didn't get angry or anything. I just kind of
- 18:24Speaker 12: found it, you know, a little..
- 18:27Speaker 1: I did not, but I guess, basically, weren't they trying
- 18:30Speaker 1: to clean up the... green, uh, algae and stuff like that.
- 18:34Speaker 12: I appreciate him doing it. It was just that, that,
- 18:36Speaker 12: you know, he would, and then he just said that
- 18:37Speaker 12: that was a horrible question because it came from the
- 18:39Speaker 12: ABC and stuff, which, you know, to a certain degree,
- 18:42Speaker 12: maybe he's, you know, he's got something there, but, uh,
- 18:44Speaker 12: it was just, I mean.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Let's be realistic. He can't do anything that it seems
- 18:48Speaker 1: people don't, uh, critique him on or criticize him on
- 18:53Speaker 1: i mean even even if it's like cleaning up that
- 18:56Speaker 1: uh the water in there and and whatever fixing to
- 19:00Speaker 1: finish and that kind of stuff people can't just say
- 19:02Speaker 1: well i'm glad to see it's done and it's better
- 19:04Speaker 1: they got to criticize trump on everything It's ridiculous.
- 19:08Speaker 12: I tend to agree. You know, there's, you know, I still,
- 19:11Speaker 12: as I said, wouldn't vote for him. But I told you,
- 19:13Speaker 12: if he does something that's going to help me and
- 19:15Speaker 12: my family and you and everybody else, then, hey, I
- 19:20Speaker 12: set my ego at the door. But, you know, that's
- 19:24Speaker 12: where I draw the line there. But, you know, I
- 19:27Speaker 12: just found it kind of interesting. And I'll leave it
- 19:30Speaker 12: at that.
- 19:31Speaker 4: There he is.
- 19:32Speaker 1: All right, JJ the Liberal, thank you. News Radio 570 WKBN.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Interesting start to the program. We'll come back after this.
- 19:40Speaker 9: News Radio 570 WKBN. Well, IDO, 335 in the afternoon.
- 19:44Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKVN. Another dreary day and 55 degrees
- 19:52Speaker 1: with you till the Guardians pregame at 630 on News
- 19:54Speaker 1: Radio 570 WKVN. Frank Fort Lauderdale, Frank JJ the Liberal,
- 19:59Speaker 1: and you're next. Hello there.
- 20:02Speaker 7: Wow. What a group to follow.
- 20:05Speaker 1: You know what? Ladies and gentlemen, ladies and gentlemen, You
- 20:10Speaker 1: know you have arrived when I am sent. I am sent, folks.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Wait a second. I've got to make a little technical
- 20:20Speaker 1: adjustment here. When I am sent, I'm going to bring
- 20:23Speaker 1: it up here on my phone. Last night, an acquaintance
- 20:31Speaker 1: of mine sends me this on my phone. A picture
- 20:35Speaker 1: of Ted the Conservative standing next to Christine Oliver. giving
- 20:40Speaker 1: a thumbs up.
- 20:41Speaker 7: How about that?
- 20:43Speaker 1: How about that? Yeah, absolutely right.
- 20:46Speaker 7: I was invited to the post-election celebrations, and I thought,
- 20:50Speaker 7: why not?
- 20:51Speaker 1: Right.
- 20:52Speaker 7: Why not get out of my bubble that I live in?
- 20:54Speaker 7: Because to be honest, other than family, Ron Verbe is
- 20:57Speaker 7: the only person I talk to in this world.
- 20:59Speaker 1: And that's the way it's meant to be. I'm serious.
- 21:04Speaker 7: I'm kind of serious about that. Family, friends, Ron Verbe,
- 21:09Speaker 7: and that's it.
- 21:10Speaker 1: And there he is, the handsome Ted the Conservative, standing
- 21:15Speaker 1: next to Christine Oliver at her victory party, I guess
- 21:20Speaker 1: you'd say. Which is a really nice picture. The very
- 21:28Speaker 1: handsome Ted the Conservative.
- 21:30Speaker 7: Yeah, that was really out of my character to go
- 21:33Speaker 7: there and do that. But I met a lot of good,
- 21:35Speaker 7: nice people that worked hard for her, and it was
- 21:38Speaker 7: a nice evening. I didn't call you about local issues,
- 21:41Speaker 7: but one thing I'll say is, I don't know if
- 21:44Speaker 7: your listeners are aware of this, but I found it
- 21:46Speaker 7: very interesting to learn, and I think I may have
- 21:48Speaker 7: sent you a copy of the email. I can't remember.
- 21:51Speaker 7: The great Kamala Harris is raising money for Lauren McNally.
- 21:57Speaker 1: No, you mean Amy Acton.
- 22:00Speaker 7: No, Kamala Harris is raising money. Was it for Amy Acton?
- 22:04Speaker 1: I believe there was one. No, no, it was for
- 22:07Speaker 1: Amy Acton. I don't think she would really care about
- 22:12Speaker 1: the commissioner's race, Kamala Harris.
- 22:14Speaker 7: Maybe I was wrong on that. You're right, probably. So
- 22:16Speaker 7: what does that tell you, how important this is? And
- 22:19Speaker 7: so whether people like Vivek or not, I think this
- 22:24Speaker 7: election is critical. And I'll go back to telling you this.
- 22:28Speaker 7: Remember how many times I've told you now that the
- 22:31Speaker 7: Republicans will maintain the majority in both the House and
- 22:34Speaker 7: the Senate. And I feel that stronger every day. Really?
- 22:37Speaker 8: Really.
- 22:38Speaker 7: Yes, because, you know..
- 22:41Speaker 1: Why, because the Democrats are nuts?
- 22:44Speaker 7: Yes, because, you know what? There's two things holding back
- 22:47Speaker 7: this economy from booming. One is Democrats, and two is
- 22:52Speaker 7: the Federal Reserve. Nothing more than Iran. You know, if
- 22:56Speaker 7: $ 5 a gallon of gasoline is breaking you, I hate
- 23:01Speaker 7: to tell you, gas isn't the problem. You are the problem.
- 23:04Speaker 4: For your other..
- 23:07Speaker 7: Financial issues in your life are the problem. Now, I
- 23:11Speaker 7: filled up this morning with $ 75. You know, it makes
- 23:15Speaker 7: you open your eyes, but it's not destroying me. It's
- 23:18Speaker 7: not ruining me financially, but it's hurting a lot of people.
- 23:22Speaker 7: You and I are on the backside of life. We
- 23:24Speaker 7: climbed the mountain, and we're slowly trying to transgress down
- 23:27Speaker 7: the backside without getting hurt.
- 23:28Speaker 1: What does that mean? I should be calling the funeral
- 23:30Speaker 1: home first thing in the morning? Well, put it this way.
- 23:35Speaker 7: I think our best days are behind us.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Oh, I see what you're saying, Ted the Conservative. I'm
- 23:40Speaker 1: on the back nine. There's more sand in the bottom
- 23:43Speaker 1: of the hourglass than in the top.
- 23:45Speaker 7: Yes, sir, and we're looking at the top closer than
- 23:48Speaker 7: we're looking at the bottom.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Well, listen, our brightest days are always ahead. I don't
- 23:53Speaker 1: agree with you. I think $ 5 gasoline is a big deal.
- 23:58Speaker 7: Let me rephrase that. It's a big deal to many,
- 24:00Speaker 7: many Americans.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Well, it's a big deal. It's a big deal to me.
- 24:03Speaker 1: I mean, when you say when it's done pumping and
- 24:05Speaker 1: you see what that.
- 24:06Speaker 7: You have a fleet of vehicles over there at Birdman.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Right, but when you see that gas pump click off
- 24:10Speaker 1: and you see that go in, It's got to get resolved. Listen,
- 24:15Speaker 1: I hope you're right.
- 24:16Speaker 8: That's why I'm calling you, Professor.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I hope you're right. Ted the Conservative, incidentally, has an excellent, excellent,
- 24:22Speaker 1: excellent track record. I will say that.
- 24:24Speaker 6: And you know what?
- 24:25Speaker 7: Here's what I'll say as far as that track record.
- 24:27Speaker 7: I may not be the smartest guy, and I'm not
- 24:29Speaker 7: the smartest guy, but I am able to look through
- 24:33Speaker 7: the current situation we find ourselves in, and I'm often
- 24:37Speaker 7: able to forecast what that means in the future. And
- 24:40Speaker 7: there's a lot of smart guys that call your show,
- 24:42Speaker 7: women and men that call your show. And, you know,
- 24:46Speaker 7: there's just a wealth of information out there. So you've
- 24:49Speaker 7: got to be able to absorb your information and then
- 24:52Speaker 7: make good decisions. A lot of people aren't able to
- 24:54Speaker 7: do that. Very intelligent people. I think Frank from Fort
- 24:58Speaker 7: Lauderdale is a smart guy, but I don't think he's
- 25:01Speaker 7: capable of forecasting, taking that data he has. I mean, remember,
- 25:05Speaker 7: he told us oil would be $ 200 a barrel. Stock
- 25:08Speaker 7: market was going to crash.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Hey, by the way, by the way, wait a second.
- 25:14Speaker 7: He said oil was down to 90 bucks a barrel.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Yeah, but wait a second.
- 25:16Speaker 7: It was down to 80 bucks a barrel.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Ted, the conservative, I saw this the other day, and
- 25:21Speaker 1: I thought of Fort Lauderdale. Frank, Trump was in that
- 25:24Speaker 1: press conference, and Trump himself said he thought oil would be,
- 25:29Speaker 1: it wouldn't be $ 100 a barrel. He thought it would
- 25:31Speaker 1: be $ 200 a barrel or more. Even Trump, when I
- 25:34Speaker 1: heard Trump say that in that press conference.
- 25:36Speaker 7: I guess I should run for president.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. When I heard Trump say that in a
- 25:39Speaker 1: press conference, my initial thought was..
- 25:42Speaker 4: I'm not diminishing..
- 25:43Speaker 7: Frank's a very intelligent guy. You can't call in and
- 25:45Speaker 7: say the things he does without being intelligent.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Correct.
- 25:48Speaker 7: I disagree with how he processes that information sometimes. And
- 25:53Speaker 7: he's a smart guy. You know, but I just feel
- 25:57Speaker 7: like I could see things a little bit different than
- 25:59Speaker 7: most people. And I think I'm usually right when we
- 26:01Speaker 7: talk about..
- 26:02Speaker 1: Well, I would say this. I would say this, folks,
- 26:04Speaker 1: and tell the conservatives... Defense. Ted has been more right
- 26:10Speaker 1: than he's been wrong over the years. And I can remember, gang,
- 26:16Speaker 1: Ted the conservative was his passionate pleas to me. All
- 26:21Speaker 1: of you listening, his passionate pleas to me. I will
- 26:23Speaker 1: never forget this. When I was in this argument with
- 26:27Speaker 1: Ted the Conservative, I could not vote for Mitt Romney.
- 26:31Speaker 1: I've said that to you guys a million times. Mitt Romney,
- 26:34Speaker 1: I could not vote for him. I can't stand him today.
- 26:36Speaker 1: I couldn't stand him back then. I could never vote
- 26:40Speaker 1: for Mitt Romney. So I actually voted for Obama. And
- 26:44Speaker 1: I remember talking about this on the air, and Ted
- 26:47Speaker 1: the conservative, folks, I mean, gave everything he could possibly
- 26:52Speaker 1: have to implore me to not vote for Obama. As
- 26:56Speaker 1: much as I... it was a lesser two evils and
- 26:59Speaker 1: I would have to over your opinion.
- 27:01Speaker 6: It was a lesser. Yes.
- 27:03Speaker 7: Obviously today, I think you might say Romney was the less.
- 27:06Speaker 4: Yes. Yes.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Now that's where I'm going. That in fact, Ted, the
- 27:10Speaker 1: conservative was a hundred percent right. If I had to
- 27:13Speaker 1: do it over again, I would have voted for Mitt
- 27:16Speaker 1: Romney and I wouldn't have voted for Obama. He was 100% right.
- 27:21Speaker 1: I didn't listen. His insight was right. And if I
- 27:24Speaker 1: had a redo, I would probably, not probably, I'd vote
- 27:28Speaker 1: for Mitt Romney. That's how accurate over the years Ted
- 27:33Speaker 1: the Conservative has been on this kind of stuff. However,
- 27:37Speaker 1: I go back to say this. I keep hearing there's
- 27:39Speaker 1: going to be a deal or it's going to be
- 27:40Speaker 1: a deal. Well, I'm getting tired of it. I realize
- 27:42Speaker 1: you can't rush this stuff.
- 27:44Speaker 7: I don't care when the deal comes. I know that
- 27:47Speaker 7: I trust Donald Trump to do what's best for America.
- 27:51Speaker 7: I believe America first is why he's there. So when
- 27:54Speaker 7: it comes, it comes. It's not changing how you and
- 27:57Speaker 7: I live our lives. Yeah, gas is a little more expensive.
- 28:00Speaker 7: But you know what? Think back to 2022, when gas
- 28:05Speaker 7: was higher than what we're paying today, because it was,
- 28:08Speaker 7: and inflation was 9%. I can remember arguing with my
- 28:12Speaker 7: liberal friends, and they loved to use the word transitory.
- 28:16Speaker 7: So I'll tie the two together. We didn't get where
- 28:19Speaker 7: we are today economically because of one year of Donald Trump.
- 28:23Speaker 6: We got here.
- 28:24Speaker 7: Because of guys like you who believed in the hope
- 28:27Speaker 7: and change. And what Obama did, he said he was
- 28:30Speaker 7: going to transform America. He completed his task.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Boy, did he ever.
- 28:33Speaker 7: He transformed America. He is why we are where we're
- 28:36Speaker 7: at today, with the divisiveness, the DEI, all that garbage.
- 28:41Speaker 7: And then he threw Joe Biden on top of that
- 28:43Speaker 7: for four years.
- 28:44Speaker 8: Right.
- 28:45Speaker 7: Inflation and the policy. That's the biggest thing. People don't
- 28:49Speaker 7: understand how policy affects economics. And then you show some
- 28:53Speaker 7: other uncertainties in there you can never forecast.
- 28:57Speaker 1: This is how, Ted, the conservative, how naive I could be, folks.
- 29:01Speaker 1: And listen to this. I would often think, what difference
- 29:04Speaker 1: does it make as far as judges are concerned? I
- 29:09Speaker 1: was one of those Americans who believed, listen, it's pretty
- 29:12Speaker 1: much to say, if I go in front of a judge,
- 29:14Speaker 1: the judge is going to sit there kind of like
- 29:16Speaker 1: a referee, if you will, listen to the case and
- 29:19Speaker 1: base their decisions on the law. on what is the
- 29:22Speaker 1: law and what's taken place, that's how I thought it
- 29:27Speaker 1: should be. But now I'm taking a look and I'm saying,
- 29:31Speaker 1: my God, that isn't the case. Now we have judges
- 29:35Speaker 1: that are so political, letting criminals out of prison. I mean–
- 29:40Speaker 1: We would all like to think if you go in
- 29:42Speaker 1: front of a judge, it shouldn't matter if you're a
- 29:44Speaker 1: Republican or Democrat, conservative or liberal. It shouldn't matter. And
- 29:48Speaker 1: it shouldn't matter what they are, conservative or liberal. They
- 29:51Speaker 1: should sit there, hear the case, and rule based on
- 29:54Speaker 1: the law, the legality of it. But any more of
- 29:59Speaker 1: these days when you see that judge apologizing to the
- 30:02Speaker 1: guy that tried shooting the president at the White House
- 30:06Speaker 1: press dinner, and you look at these liberal judges... that
- 30:10Speaker 1: are just letting people out of jail, illegals and with
- 30:14Speaker 1: criminal records, and you say, this is craziness. And I
- 30:20Speaker 1: can't remember a time that it's been so severe as
- 30:25Speaker 1: it has been over the last several years. If I
- 30:28Speaker 1: go back, because I've been around a long time, I
- 30:31Speaker 1: don't remember judges being like this. I mean, in the
- 30:34Speaker 1: past of this country where– they would be so liberal
- 30:39Speaker 1: they would let criminals get away and do some of
- 30:42Speaker 1: the bizarre stuff I'm seeing.
- 30:43Speaker 7: I remember it happened with the transformation of America under
- 30:47Speaker 7: Barack Obama.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Well, yeah, but that's relatively recent. I'm saying that's recent.
- 30:53Speaker 1: I'm saying if I go back beyond Obama, that to
- 30:58Speaker 1: me is recent times. If I go further back, it
- 31:01Speaker 1: seems like judges basically heard the case and made a
- 31:04Speaker 1: decision based on the rule of law, if you will.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Somewhere along the line, it became bizarre.
- 31:10Speaker 7: You don't have to go back that far. You can
- 31:12Speaker 7: go back to the Bush years, the Clinton years. the
- 31:16Speaker 7: Bush years before that, the Reagan years. You know, even
- 31:20Speaker 7: our politicians, they disagree on policy, but they respected each other,
- 31:25Speaker 7: and they socialized, they had great friendship. But then came
- 31:30Speaker 7: along Barack Hussein Obama, and that's when the world changed.
- 31:33Speaker 7: He told you he was going to transform America, and
- 31:36Speaker 7: he did.
- 31:37Speaker 1: And not for the better. And I should be held
- 31:40Speaker 1: responsible for that, because it's absolutely... Not for the better.
- 31:45Speaker 1: I'm in total agreement with you. The only thing I'll
- 31:48Speaker 1: say is, listen, I hope you're right about the midterms.
- 31:51Speaker 1: And I would like to think you are because, quite frankly,
- 31:54Speaker 1: I don't know how you could vote for the Democrats
- 31:56Speaker 1: at all because they're just the social agenda, the economic agenda,
- 32:01Speaker 1: how we got where we are today, their energy policies.
- 32:05Speaker 1: There's nothing there that's any good. But sometimes people aren't
- 32:09Speaker 1: as informed. They're low information voters. And so they say,
- 32:15Speaker 1: they make snap decisions on stuff like that. It was
- 32:19Speaker 1: interesting when, what was it, Dave Thomas was saying, he's
- 32:22Speaker 1: concerned you've got to get Republican turnouts in this governor's
- 32:25Speaker 1: race because if you don't, the Democrats are getting out
- 32:29Speaker 1: and supporting Amy Acton, which is very strange to me
- 32:33Speaker 1: why you would support her. She's a far-left progressive.
- 32:36Speaker 7: You know what's interesting, though? I saw some data from
- 32:39Speaker 7: different news sources saying And this one I got off
- 32:42Speaker 7: of CNN. And they were comparing, they were looking at
- 32:47Speaker 7: turnout nationwide. And every state was different. In Ohio, we
- 32:52Speaker 7: didn't have great turnout. But the thing that shocked me,
- 32:56Speaker 7: my biggest concern was the Trump voter. They call him
- 33:00Speaker 7: the MAGA voter. How they identify these people, I have
- 33:02Speaker 7: no clue. I think maybe what they're doing is looking
- 33:05Speaker 7: at Trump endorsed candidates. And look at Indiana, for example.
- 33:10Speaker 7: Big turnouts. not only was the turnout big, it was
- 33:14Speaker 7: a MAGA turnout. You know how Trump opposed all those
- 33:18Speaker 7: individuals that shot down the redistricting? Well, every one of
- 33:21Speaker 7: his candidates won. And they said there's swaths across America
- 33:27Speaker 7: where they're seeing that the MAGA vote was very strong
- 33:31Speaker 7: where it was needed or where Trump endorsed or where
- 33:34Speaker 7: there were high publicity issues. So maybe that MAGA voter
- 33:38Speaker 7: isn't going away. Maybe that MAGA voter is... is more
- 33:42Speaker 7: alert than ever before. You know, so that's going to
- 33:45Speaker 7: be interesting. And like I said, you know, I told people,
- 33:48Speaker 7: I remember telling my father-in-law, Christian, Southern, Southern Christian conservatives,
- 33:54Speaker 7: they just couldn't, they couldn't stand Trump. They despised him.
- 33:57Speaker 7: That's when he got all the grab him by the,
- 33:59Speaker 7: you know, what was coming up. And I told him
- 34:01Speaker 7: just what you talked about. I said, you know, I
- 34:03Speaker 7: understand you don't like Donald Trump, but who would you
- 34:06Speaker 7: rather have appointing justices to the Supreme Court, Donald Trump
- 34:09Speaker 7: or Hillary Clinton? And I stuck with him and he
- 34:11Speaker 7: voted for Trump. Today, he's become part of the MAGA cult.
- 34:17Speaker 7: I can't say anything negative about Donald Trump or he
- 34:20Speaker 7: will just rip my head off arguing.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Look at that.
- 34:24Speaker 7: Yeah, so there's, you know, never say never. The midterms
- 34:27Speaker 7: are a long way off. And like I said, the
- 34:29Speaker 7: only two things that are in the country are the
- 34:30Speaker 7: Democrats and interest rates. And I know Frank will disagree
- 34:34Speaker 7: with me, but The Fed has been very politicized. And
- 34:37Speaker 7: all you have to do is go back and look
- 34:39Speaker 7: at Biden's run-up to re-election and Kamala's run-up to re-election,
- 34:43Speaker 7: where they were lowering rates as inflation was rising. Why
- 34:46Speaker 7: were they doing it? They were trying to paint a
- 34:47Speaker 7: picture that things are great. It was killing Americans, young families,
- 34:51Speaker 7: credit card interest rates, trying to start a family and
- 34:55Speaker 7: buy a home, high mortgage rates, killing them. The Biden
- 34:59Speaker 7: inflation is what propelled the economy to where it is today.
- 35:03Speaker 7: It's not Trump. Trump came in and inflation's back to normal.
- 35:07Speaker 7: I also think sometimes as the world evolves, our metrics change.
- 35:11Speaker 7: You know, we used to look at the jobs report,
- 35:13Speaker 7: the unemployment report, and that's something that was good today.
- 35:18Speaker 7: Good jobs report, unemployment report, consumer spending report was good
- 35:22Speaker 7: a few weeks ago. We used to have all these
- 35:24Speaker 7: key metrics before technology was part of our economy. And
- 35:29Speaker 7: that 2% inflation, I think that they apply today. was
- 35:33Speaker 7: to a whole different set of metrics, in my opinion.
- 35:38Speaker 7: The world has changed so much with technology and AI
- 35:42Speaker 7: and jobs and just everything. And I don't think our
- 35:46Speaker 7: Federal Reserve is capable of grabbing a good snapshot. I
- 35:51Speaker 7: think that's why you saw a lot of dissension in
- 35:53Speaker 7: the last vote at 8-4 to hold the race steady.
- 35:56Speaker 7: That's why my liberal friends, they all wanted to raise them,
- 35:58Speaker 7: but they didn't want to raise them. There's no excuse
- 36:01Speaker 7: to have interest rates at this level prolonged for as
- 36:04Speaker 7: long as it's killing small business. Small businesses that have
- 36:09Speaker 7: to have lines of credit to buy products, turn them
- 36:11Speaker 7: on and sell them and pay that debt off. It's
- 36:13Speaker 7: killing them. It's crushing them.
- 36:16Speaker 1: There you go.
- 36:16Speaker 7: It's crushing America.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Here I leave you with this. This top-secret message from J.J.
- 36:23Speaker 1: the Liberal. Hey, Ron, please tell Teddy, he calls you Teddy,
- 36:27Speaker 1: that I don't have problems with our family's financial situation,
- 36:33Speaker 1: and I'm glad he's enjoying paying $ 75 for gas.
- 36:37Speaker 7: Hey, no one's enjoying it. But what I'm saying is,
- 36:43Speaker 7: if that, and then you hear.
- 36:44Speaker 4: People talking about how..
- 36:45Speaker 1: I got to go. I got to go.
- 36:47Speaker 7: Okay, buddy.
- 36:47Speaker 1: There he is.
- 36:48Speaker 4: Hang in there, buddy.
- 36:49Speaker 7: It'll be okay.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Ted the Conservative.
- 36:53Speaker 9: Podcast Network and the Webby Podcast Company of the Year.
- 36:55Speaker 9: 570 WKBN.
- 36:58Speaker 1: 356 in the afternoon, News Radio 570 WKBN, and you're
- 37:01Speaker 1: on the air. Hello? All right, apparently not. You're on
- 37:08Speaker 1: the air.
- 37:09Speaker 13: Hey, Bubba!
- 37:11Speaker 1: There he is.
- 37:14Speaker 4: What?
- 37:15Speaker 1: Well, I mean, that's what I'm saying. There he is,
- 37:17Speaker 1: meaning you. I mean, what an interesting program. You know,
- 37:21Speaker 1: I've always enjoyed listening to Fort Lauderdale, Frank and JJ,
- 37:25Speaker 1: the liberal and Ted, the conservative. He's just a tense.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Ted's been more right than he's ever been wrong. And
- 37:30Speaker 1: then Bubba Ganoush.
- 37:33Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 37:34Speaker 7: Who's right 98% of the time.
- 37:36Speaker 1: I don't think so. I don't think so. Ted, the
- 37:39Speaker 1: conservative has been right. Oh no, no, no, no. Ted,
- 37:42Speaker 1: the conservative has been right over the years. Uh, even
- 37:46Speaker 1: when I've been wrong, but see, I'm, I'm man enough
- 37:49Speaker 1: to admit I was wrong when I, I couldn't stand
- 37:52Speaker 1: Mitt Romney. I couldn't vote for Mitt Romney today on anything,
- 37:55Speaker 1: but needless to say, uh, I should have voted for
- 37:58Speaker 1: Mitt Romney over Obama. That was a mistake. And Ted,
- 38:00Speaker 1: the conservative tried to guide me in my, my ways,
- 38:05Speaker 1: and I didn't listen at the time, and I should
- 38:06Speaker 1: have listened, I think, but I think Obama probably would
- 38:09Speaker 1: have still won, so what difference does it make anyway?
- 38:13Speaker 15: Well, yeah.
- 38:16Speaker 7: You know, you got good points. I agree with you.
- 38:19Speaker 15: I didn't like the rhinos, okay, just like McCain and Romney. Okay,
- 38:25Speaker 15: but here's the thing.
- 38:28Speaker 11: You see how oil went down?
- 38:30Speaker 7: Well, he said that.
- 38:31Speaker 11: But the thing is, is that I told you everything.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Yeah, but let me put it this way. Okay, Bubba.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Let me put it this way. It could go back
- 38:38Speaker 1: up Monday. I mean, this is a very fluid situation
- 38:42Speaker 1: that is ongoing. I mean, I'm not trying to be
- 38:45Speaker 1: a jerk with you, but they've been talking for weeks
- 38:47Speaker 1: that a deal's imminent, a deal's imminent. Well, I've been
- 38:50Speaker 1: hearing this for weeks. Well, where's the deal? Where's the beef,
- 38:52Speaker 1: as they used to say years ago on those Wendy's commercials?
- 38:55Speaker 1: Where's the deal? So you keep telling me that, and okay.
- 39:00Speaker 10: No, no, wait a minute.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Okay, stand by. Just hang on. I'll come back to
- 39:03Speaker 1: you in a minute. I've got to do my headlines
- 39:04Speaker 1: at 4. I'll get back to you at Bubba Ganoush
- 39:06Speaker 1: and more of your calls. We're here tonight until 6.30.
- 39:08Speaker 9: From ABC News.
- 39:18Speaker 16: I'm Mike Dabusky. A thousand prisoners from both sides of
- 39:21Speaker 16: the Russia-Ukraine war are expected to be released this weekend
- 39:24Speaker 16: as part of a three-day ceasefire the two sides agreed
- 39:27Speaker 16: to today as tensions appear to ease. for the time
- 39:30Speaker 16: being in Eastern Europe, they're still elevated in the Middle East.
- 39:33Speaker 16: ABC News foreign correspondent Tom Sufi Burridge.
- 39:35Speaker 17: Over the last 24 hours or so, we've seen a
- 39:38Speaker 17: very significant exchange of fire between the Iranians and the U.S.
- 39:41Speaker 1: Military in and around the Strait of Hormuz. Those three U.S.
- 39:43Speaker 17: Naval destroyers targeted by the Iranians, drones, missiles, small boats,
- 39:47Speaker 17: the U.S. military, not only eliminating the threats, but then
- 39:50Speaker 17: striking command and control centers and the launch sites in
- 39:53Speaker 17: and around the Strait of Hormuz along the Iranian coast
- 39:56Speaker 17: and on an Iranian island to the northern extreme of
- 39:58Speaker 17: the Strait of Hormuz.
- 39:59Speaker 1: The U.S.
- 40:00Speaker 16: Says it's expecting Iran's response to its framework for a
- 40:03Speaker 16: peace deal possibly as soon as today. Meanwhile, global health
- 40:07Speaker 16: authorities are monitoring dozens of people for possible exposure to
- 40:10Speaker 16: the Hanta virus, the epicenter of the outbreak, a Dutch
- 40:13Speaker 16: cruise vessel with more than 100 people aboard. It's scheduled
- 40:16Speaker 16: to make port in the Canary Islands this weekend. ABC's
- 40:19Speaker 16: Maggie Rooley is there and tells us what happens after that.
- 40:22Speaker 18: Police today showed us the area that they were cordoning off.
- 40:25Speaker 18: They'll be the first area, the first land that everyone
- 40:27Speaker 18: on board that ship has set foot on in many,
- 40:29Speaker 18: many days. They're going to be grouping them in five
- 40:33Speaker 18: different sections based on their level of risk. And then
- 40:35Speaker 18: they'll be loaded into buses that are under military guard,
- 40:38Speaker 18: taken to an isolated area at an airport.
- 40:41Speaker 16: And then.
- 40:41Speaker 18: Flown to their home countries.
- 40:43Speaker 16: Some better than expected jobs numbers out today from the
- 40:46Speaker 16: Labor Department, which found the economy added 115,000 new workers
- 40:50Speaker 16: last month.
- 40:50Speaker 19: We saw the labor force participation rate go down. Generally,
- 40:53Speaker 19: you don't want to see that happening. You want to
- 40:54Speaker 19: see more people working. But part of the reason for
- 40:56Speaker 19: that is because more people are retiring. So there's a
- 40:58Speaker 19: big demographic story here. People age 55 and older are retiring.
- 41:02Speaker 19: You also have the workforce shrinking because there are not
- 41:04Speaker 19: as many immigrants working right now.
- 41:06Speaker 16: ABC's Elizabeth Schulze reporting. You're listening to ABC News.
- 41:14Speaker 1: I'm really looking forward to the weekend. Get a little
- 41:18Speaker 1: R & R, a little rest. Friday, May 8th, it's, what,
- 41:29Speaker 1: 56 degrees, another cloudy overcast, a damp day. In my neck,
- 41:34Speaker 1: the Woods News Radio 570. All right, Bubba Ganoush, what
- 41:37Speaker 1: was the intelligent point you wanted to make?
- 41:40Speaker 6: Intelligent, I don't know.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true.
- 41:42Speaker 15: I got plenty of intelligent points.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Yeah, well, try to come up with just one.
- 41:47Speaker 6: Okay. Let me think.
- 41:50Speaker 15: Okay, I'll tell you what. Oh, what I was trying
- 41:52Speaker 15: to tell you is... When you're dealing with these people,
- 41:57Speaker 15: you can't count on this. You know, he's going to
- 42:00Speaker 15: have to blow the hell out of them because they're
- 42:02Speaker 15: going to say, well, we'll agree to this and they'll
- 42:04Speaker 15: all postpone. And what they're trying to do is get
- 42:06Speaker 15: the Democrats to win. Because then they can go to
- 42:09Speaker 15: them and say, hey, give us 1.5 trillion. You know
- 42:13Speaker 15: what I mean? So they're going to try to delay, delay, delay, delay.
- 42:17Speaker 15: And you heard that before. You heard that from other people.
- 42:19Speaker 1: Yes.
- 42:21Speaker 15: And by the way, if you read the Koran, If
- 42:25Speaker 15: I make an agreement, say I'm Islam, and I make
- 42:28Speaker 15: an agreement with Ron Verb, who's Christian, right?
- 42:31Speaker 7: Guess what?
- 42:31Speaker 1: I don't have to honor the agreement.
- 42:34Speaker 15: In the Koran, it says you don't have to honor
- 42:36Speaker 15: any agreement with anybody unless they're.
- 42:41Speaker 4: Islam, because you're an infidel.
- 42:44Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 42:45Speaker 15: If you're not Islam, you're an infidel, and you don't
- 42:46Speaker 15: have to agree. You don't have to honor the agreement. Now,
- 42:49Speaker 15: I read that in 96, and that's why I tell people, man,
- 42:52Speaker 15: this is not a religion. It's a movement. It's not
- 42:55Speaker 15: a religion.
- 42:56Speaker 1: It's a movement.
- 42:57Speaker 15: And that's why women who are like, oh, yeah, then
- 43:00Speaker 15: I'm like, you're nuts. Sharia law and what they do
- 43:04Speaker 15: with women over there, and they're all motivated.
- 43:07Speaker 14: You're nuts.
- 43:08Speaker 15: You know what I mean? I tell the women, I said,
- 43:10Speaker 15: you got your head out right. You know what I mean?
- 43:13Speaker 11: Don't you agree?
- 43:14Speaker 15: You see what they do with the women?
- 43:16Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, I get it. I just would like to
- 43:19Speaker 1: see some type of resolution come. You can't be there.
- 43:22Speaker 15: Well, the only thing I know, Ron, blow the hell
- 43:25Speaker 15: out of them.
- 43:25Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, well, we shall see. We shall see. All right,
- 43:29Speaker 1: it's Bubba Ganoush. You're on here.
- 43:31Speaker 20: There are so many topics that we could touch today,
- 43:33Speaker 20: and I don't know where to start. Local, state, national, global.
- 43:38Speaker 7: Now we've got extraterrestrial, so you pick.
- 43:40Speaker 1: Where you want to begin. I want to cover them all.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Start with local.
- 43:44Speaker 6: Local.
- 43:45Speaker 21: Yeah.
- 43:46Speaker 11: The turnout, everything, primaries.
- 43:48Speaker 20: I'm just going to see where the chips land. You know,
- 43:51Speaker 20: election's done. We'll see where everything goes.
- 43:53Speaker 1: They say in our community here in Mahoney County, we
- 43:57Speaker 1: had a higher than normal turnout. So there was some
- 43:59Speaker 1: good news. I don't know about the state, but a
- 44:02Speaker 1: higher than a better turnout than in the past, but
- 44:05Speaker 1: still low compared to how many people have the ability
- 44:09Speaker 1: to vote.
- 44:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:11Speaker 20: And I, We have an open primary. If you go in,
- 44:13Speaker 20: you say if you want a Democrat or a Republican ballot.
- 44:16Speaker 20: So I could have, I guess, just grabbed a Democrat
- 44:18Speaker 20: ballot and voted for everybody who I thought would eventually lose.
- 44:22Speaker 20: I don't know how many people would have done that.
- 44:24Speaker 7: But we'll see.
- 44:26Speaker 11: We'll see what happens. This is why we have primaries.
- 44:28Speaker 20: We'll see what happens at the end of the day,
- 44:30Speaker 20: who actually gets elected, and then what they actually do.
- 44:33Speaker 20: So time will tell. That's on the local level. I
- 44:35Speaker 20: don't have too much to say about that.
- 44:37Speaker 15: We'll see.
- 44:39Speaker 11: On the state level..
- 44:40Speaker 20: You know, Vivek, I hope he does very well. Do
- 44:43Speaker 20: you happen to hear about his proposal for consolidating the
- 44:46Speaker 20: universities in Ohio also?
- 44:50Speaker 1: Tell me about it.
- 44:51Speaker 11: Well, that's good.
- 44:53Speaker 20: I don't really know too much about it. But, you know,
- 44:56Speaker 20: just like people talk about here consolidating our public schools
- 44:59Speaker 20: because we've got too many of them in too many jurisdictions,
- 45:02Speaker 20: too many superintendents, too many of this, too many of that.
- 45:05Speaker 20: There's just too many universities in the state of Ohio
- 45:07Speaker 20: where we could have more basically branch campuses of Ohio State,
- 45:11Speaker 20: branch campus of Cincinnati, branch campus of Youngstown State, some
- 45:16Speaker 20: of the smaller schools. I don't know if that's a
- 45:18Speaker 20: good stance right now because a lot of these people, places,
- 45:21Speaker 20: you know, employ a lot of people. But at the
- 45:24Speaker 20: end of the day, he's probably right. You need to
- 45:25Speaker 20: cut a lot of these jobs that are, you know,
- 45:28Speaker 20: state funded if you're going to get rid of property taxes.
- 45:33Speaker 20: in the state of Ohio, or if you're going to
- 45:34Speaker 20: get rid of income tax. But, you know, I don't
- 45:39Speaker 20: know where it's going to go with that. It's just confusing,
- 45:41Speaker 20: and I haven't really heard too much about it other
- 45:43Speaker 20: than the blurb I saw. I didn't know if you knew.
- 45:45Speaker 22: Anything about it.
- 45:47Speaker 1: I have heard very little about it, but I saw
- 45:53Speaker 1: him talking the other day. It's not like he's talking
- 45:56Speaker 1: about closing down Youngstown State or the University of Akron.
- 46:01Speaker 1: I just... don't know what he would want to consolidate.
- 46:05Speaker 1: I mean, a lot of this stuff is easier said
- 46:08Speaker 1: than it is done. I mean, it's... We.
- 46:12Speaker 20: Need a long runway to even get any of that accomplished.
- 46:15Speaker 7: That's one thing.
- 46:16Speaker 20: And again, we'll see. There's a lot that can happen
- 46:19Speaker 20: until November. I mean, a whole lot.
- 46:21Speaker 11: We all know that.
- 46:22Speaker 20: But obviously, I hope he does well.
- 46:23Speaker 11: I hope he wins.
- 46:24Speaker 20: Amy Acton is just... I mean, we could talk ad
- 46:26Speaker 20: nauseum about how terrible that would be on.
- 46:30Speaker 11: A state level.
- 46:31Speaker 20: On a national level, I tell you what, the Democrat,
- 46:34Speaker 20: what happened in Virginia with their state Supreme Court knocking
- 46:38Speaker 20: down that gerrymandering, you know, they were going to have
- 46:41Speaker 20: a supermajority Democrat-run state. So if that gets blocked now,
- 46:46Speaker 20: we can actually go back to normalcy there. What happened
- 46:49Speaker 20: with that Supreme Court decision last week, Louisiana, Clay, that
- 46:53Speaker 20: you can't base congressional districts off of, you know, skin color?
- 46:58Speaker 17: Yes.
- 46:59Speaker 20: That's a big change. Obviously, I want the SAVE Act.
- 47:03Speaker 20: I want you to be a U.S.
- 47:04Speaker 7: Citizen to vote.
- 47:05Speaker 20: But it also helps if they're not just picking and
- 47:07Speaker 20: choosing all these congressional districts for the Democrats to just win.
- 47:11Speaker 20: They don't need to have a message. They just need
- 47:13Speaker 20: to have the votes in the certain areas to get
- 47:15Speaker 20: the congressional seats. So that's a big thing moving forward.
- 47:21Speaker 20: On a global level, obviously everything with Iran... I, the
- 47:28Speaker 20: 10 year treasury rates touch four, four and a half percent.
- 47:31Speaker 20: And then boom, we hear all there's, there's, I can't
- 47:33Speaker 20: even keep track of what the deal even was the
- 47:35Speaker 20: other day. Cause everybody, I'm so immune to it. I'm
- 47:37Speaker 20: so numb to this happened. We, we are ushering ships out.
- 47:42Speaker 20: Then we're not, we got attacked. Our, our destroyers, three
- 47:45Speaker 20: of them shot down. They were just love taps. I
- 47:47Speaker 20: don't know what to, what to even think anymore about that.
- 47:50Speaker 20: But I, I mean, Has anything changed day to day?
- 47:55Speaker 20: But every time that 10-year treasury is 4.5%, something, in quotes,
- 47:59Speaker 20: happens as a deal, and it just gets pushed off
- 48:02Speaker 20: to another day. I can't keep track anymore. It's hard
- 48:05Speaker 20: to even really.
- 48:06Speaker 11: Want to pay attention.
- 48:07Speaker 20: I mean, our country's at war with another nation, and
- 48:10Speaker 20: I almost am at the point now where it's like,
- 48:13Speaker 20: I don't even need the information because it's going to
- 48:15Speaker 20: change two days later.
- 48:16Speaker 1: Right. It's so in flux, and you don't know... You've
- 48:20Speaker 1: been told, well, they want a deal, they want to
- 48:22Speaker 1: make a deal, they want to make a deal, they
- 48:23Speaker 1: being Iran. I've been hearing that for weeks. Well, where's
- 48:26Speaker 1: the deal? I'm just saying that. You keep telling me
- 48:29Speaker 1: they want to make a deal. If they want to
- 48:30Speaker 1: make a deal, what seems to be the issue or
- 48:34Speaker 1: the problem? I mean, how much is talk, and talk
- 48:38Speaker 1: is cheap, deeds are precious. That's all I'm here to say.
- 48:41Speaker 1: I mean, obviously, they can't control a straight. Obviously— Where
- 48:48Speaker 1: is the deal? If they want to make a deal,
- 48:51Speaker 1: I don't get it. There's no doubt in my mind.
- 48:54Speaker 1: I mean, I can sit back and say there's no
- 48:55Speaker 1: doubt in my mind the U.S. military has devastated them,
- 48:59Speaker 1: absolutely devastated them, and their economy. I don't think they're
- 49:04Speaker 1: sitting with a good hand of cards, do you?
- 49:07Speaker 20: Not at all, but they have all the time in
- 49:10Speaker 20: the world to try to wait this out because they're
- 49:12Speaker 20: ruled with an iron fist. We have elections in November.
- 49:16Speaker 20: So what's our greatest weapon in the whole entire everything?
- 49:19Speaker 20: It's not the bunker buster. It's not anything else.
- 49:21Speaker 8: It's the U.S.
- 49:22Speaker 20: Dollar. And that's the next biggest thing I'll just touch
- 49:25Speaker 20: base on real quick. Markup for the Clarity Act is
- 49:28Speaker 20: on Monday. They're hoping to put this through the Senate
- 49:32Speaker 20: and have it on Trump's desk to be signed on
- 49:35Speaker 20: the 4th of July.
- 49:36Speaker 7: And I know.
- 49:36Speaker 20: Nobody knows anything about it. But this is the next
- 49:40Speaker 20: greatest weapon that the United States of America has to
- 49:43Speaker 20: push our dollar even further out into the world. If
- 49:46Speaker 20: you were in Iran right now, and side note, have
- 49:49Speaker 20: you seen any videos from Iran? You know, no Snapchat,
- 49:52Speaker 20: no Instagram, no Facebook, no X. Nobody there can send
- 49:55Speaker 20: out any videos because they don't even have Internet. Their
- 49:57Speaker 20: currency is completely decimated. If those people could get the U.S.
- 50:02Speaker 20: dollar and hold on to it, they would do that
- 50:05Speaker 20: in an absolute heartbeat. So what the Genius Act last
- 50:09Speaker 20: year and the Clarity Act that hopefully will go through
- 50:11Speaker 20: on July 4th is to allow anybody in the entire
- 50:14Speaker 20: world to hold a digital U.S. dollar on their phone. Which,
- 50:19Speaker 20: what does that mean? They're backed by treasuries. What are treasuries?
- 50:22Speaker 7: They're U.S.
- 50:23Speaker 8: Debt.
- 50:23Speaker 20: We talk about the debt all the time. It's $ 40 trillion.
- 50:26Speaker 20: It's going to go to $ 45, $ 50, and keep going
- 50:29Speaker 20: forever because countries don't default on their currency. They print more.
- 50:35Speaker 20: So that's what we're going to do. And we're going
- 50:36Speaker 20: to send our dollars throughout the whole entire world. And
- 50:39Speaker 20: that's the next step. And that's coming, hopefully, July 4th.
- 50:43Speaker 20: It's going to totally change everything. The reason it's not
- 50:46Speaker 20: gone through is because big banks have been fighting it
- 50:48Speaker 20: for the last year. Right now, when you fit your
- 50:52Speaker 20: money in a checking account, you get, what, 0.05% interest
- 50:56Speaker 20: with a stable coin where you can have your dollar
- 50:58Speaker 20: in a digital checking account, basically. That's going to pay 4.5%.
- 51:03Speaker 20: And guess what? Those issuers can then give you two
- 51:05Speaker 20: and a half percent. Big banks bought it. The whole
- 51:08Speaker 20: reason this hasn't gone through and we're not able to
- 51:10Speaker 20: disperse the dollar more throughout the whole entire world is
- 51:13Speaker 20: because big banks are afraid of capital risk. So they
- 51:17Speaker 20: finally have just given up. There's a whole lot of
- 51:20Speaker 20: nuances that I won't go into, but that's the new
- 51:23Speaker 20: greatest weapon that the United States is going to have
- 51:24Speaker 20: moving forward. Now, Everybody talks about the AI stocks and
- 51:28Speaker 20: how much they've gone up. It is absolutely mind-boggling. They
- 51:31Speaker 20: go up 15% a day. I wish I would have
- 51:34Speaker 20: bought more. I wish I would have bought call options
- 51:36Speaker 20: on all of them. But everybody who calls and talks
- 51:39Speaker 20: about AI, I wonder how many people are actually using
- 51:43Speaker 20: it and how many people are using it like Google search.
- 51:46Speaker 20: You can write an email now on your Gmail and
- 51:49Speaker 20: hit the little magic wand and it makes your email
- 51:51Speaker 20: look fantastic. I think it's a horrible thing because now
- 51:54Speaker 20: I don't know if I'm talking to somebody who's educated,
- 51:57Speaker 20: somebody who's lazy. You hit the little magic button and
- 51:59Speaker 20: it makes your email sound fantastic. But I will tell you,
- 52:02Speaker 20: most people aren't using AI in any way, shape, or
- 52:04Speaker 20: form to the capacity which it could be used for.
- 52:08Speaker 20: Everybody's talking about interest rates are too high. I think
- 52:10Speaker 20: Ted's completely wrong. I think interest rates probably need to
- 52:13Speaker 20: go up. The new Fed chairman who's coming in in
- 52:16Speaker 20: a couple weeks, I don't think he's going to lower
- 52:17Speaker 20: interest rates. He's probably not going to do a darn
- 52:19Speaker 20: thing before the midterms because he doesn't want to look political.
- 52:22Speaker 20: But AI is going to do so much for so
- 52:27Speaker 20: many people and at the same time so much to
- 52:30Speaker 20: hurt people. If you're 20 years old in college and
- 52:33Speaker 20: you want to be a lawyer, well, I can go
- 52:36Speaker 20: on AI right now and pretty much write what most
- 52:39Speaker 20: people in a law degree can do. Now, I don't
- 52:42Speaker 20: have 30 years of bench experience. Yeah, if you can
- 52:44Speaker 20: graduate with 30 years of law experience, well, you'll probably
- 52:47Speaker 20: do pretty well. But these law firms, I don't see
- 52:49Speaker 20: them hiring as many people when AI does.
- 52:51Speaker 11: Just as much.
- 52:53Speaker 20: I don't see a lot of these jobs going forward.
- 52:55Speaker 20: I've done things with AI that are just mind-boggling. I
- 52:58Speaker 20: had to sell raffle tickets. I didn't really want to
- 53:00Speaker 20: do it. I went on to AI. It took me
- 53:02Speaker 20: about an hour to actually build it. I made a
- 53:04Speaker 20: website that linked to a PayPal account so I could
- 53:07Speaker 20: just text people the link. They put in how many
- 53:10Speaker 20: tickets they want, and it sends me the money. I
- 53:12Speaker 20: made a bot that will actually go on and trade
- 53:15Speaker 20: stocks for me, and I get an update at the
- 53:17Speaker 20: end of the day what it did. The things that
- 53:20Speaker 20: you can actually do now are just, it blows your mind,
- 53:23Speaker 20: and most people aren't even using it in the right way.
- 53:25Speaker 20: So much is going to change. So much is what's
- 53:27Speaker 20: going on in Iran right now. The amount of AI
- 53:30Speaker 20: we're using there, the amount of information not only to
- 53:33Speaker 20: win the battlefield, but how much we're learning to help
- 53:36Speaker 20: prevent hopefully never having a war with China or anybody else.
- 53:40Speaker 20: But we're going to be light years ahead of everything.
- 53:42Speaker 20: The stock market could go up one day and go
- 53:45Speaker 20: down the next day, but if you look at some
- 53:47Speaker 20: of these companies, they're just going through the roof. A
- 53:50Speaker 20: lot of it makes no sense to me, but I
- 53:52Speaker 20: don't know, are we in just a new technological revolution
- 53:56Speaker 20: that all these companies are eventually going to be worth
- 53:58Speaker 20: $ 10 trillion?
- 53:59Speaker 11: I have no clue.
- 54:00Speaker 20: Are they going to be worth $ 20 trillion? If we
- 54:02Speaker 20: keep printing more money, the numbers don't really matter as
- 54:05Speaker 20: much anymore because your dollar's worth less. I have no clue.
- 54:08Speaker 14: And now today..
- 54:09Speaker 20: You see the White House release all this UFO information.
- 54:13Speaker 20: I'm looking at some of them like that looks like
- 54:16Speaker 20: a lightning bug going across the.
- 54:17Speaker 11: Top of the ocean.
- 54:18Speaker 20: That's not a UFO to me. And then I look
- 54:20Speaker 20: at some of these other pictures. I'm like, well, what
- 54:21Speaker 20: the heck is that? But now I don't even know
- 54:24Speaker 20: what to necessarily trust because AI is so good. I
- 54:28Speaker 20: don't know if that image is just some generated AI.
- 54:31Speaker 20: And if it's the AI I can use, what the
- 54:33Speaker 20: heck is the AI the government can use? It's hard
- 54:36Speaker 20: to believe anything anymore.
- 54:38Speaker 1: Yeah, AI, I think a lot of people use it
- 54:41Speaker 1: as far as search engines go and use AI in
- 54:44Speaker 1: that sense. But I think there's a learning curve, Alec,
- 54:47Speaker 1: when it comes to fully understanding AI and using it
- 54:50Speaker 1: as effectively as you and a lot of people do.
- 54:52Speaker 1: There's a learning curve.
- 54:53Speaker 20: You are absolutely right.
- 54:54Speaker 1: But let me put it this way.
- 54:55Speaker 15: How do you get good at AI?
- 54:57Speaker 20: How do you get good at golf?
- 54:58Speaker 11: You keep practicing.
- 54:59Speaker 20: It's the same thing with AI. You've got to keep
- 55:01Speaker 20: using it, and you just keep getting better.
- 55:03Speaker 11: And better at it.
- 55:04Speaker 1: Right, but once... Once more and more people do that,
- 55:07Speaker 1: I mean, there's a learning curve. I think it's going
- 55:09Speaker 1: to be huge. I think it's just going to be phenomenal.
- 55:15Speaker 1: And what I'm seeing is, and I say this often,
- 55:17Speaker 1: they say within three years, you could have 50% fewer
- 55:21Speaker 1: white-collar jobs than you have right now in three years
- 55:24Speaker 1: or less.
- 55:25Speaker 20: I'll tell you one of the big concerns I had
- 55:27Speaker 20: with AI and actually your show, Ron, because everybody who
- 55:31Speaker 20: typically calls in, if you listen to the first hour,
- 55:34Speaker 20: I mean, those people are on all the time. You
- 55:36Speaker 20: could literally take their voices and make an AI from it,
- 55:40Speaker 20: and I could do whatever I want with it. So
- 55:41Speaker 20: I actually looked into it, and I pretty much made
- 55:45Speaker 20: an audio book. I cloned my voice with AI, and
- 55:48Speaker 20: thank goodness that there are actually some safeguards. I read
- 55:52Speaker 20: for about a half an hour. It recorded my voice,
- 55:55Speaker 20: and I put in a whole text, about 20 minutes
- 55:58Speaker 20: of text, And it read it to me like you
- 56:01Speaker 20: wouldn't know it was me talking or the AI. And
- 56:03Speaker 20: I never said any of these words. But thankfully, after
- 56:07Speaker 20: I did the recording, you got to go through click, click, click.
- 56:09Speaker 20: I'm not going to use this in this way, this way,
- 56:11Speaker 20: that way, which anybody could just say, of course. But
- 56:14Speaker 20: then thankfully, after you put in your voice, they have
- 56:17Speaker 20: you put a readout that you have to read back
- 56:20Speaker 20: to confirm it's your voice. So nobody can record Ted
- 56:24Speaker 20: the Conservative or J.J., and just make their voice cloned.
- 56:28Speaker 7: On your show.
- 56:29Speaker 20: So it's actually a very good safeguard that I was
- 56:31Speaker 20: curious about and always wondered, because eventually, once this keeps
- 56:36Speaker 20: going and people get better at it and understand it,
- 56:38Speaker 20: you're going to get a lot of nefarious people that
- 56:40Speaker 20: could use this in the very wrong way.
- 56:42Speaker 1: Amen to that. They say that it will get to
- 56:45Speaker 1: the point where you won't believe what you see because
- 56:46Speaker 1: you won't know if it's real or fake. Thank you, Alec.
- 56:49Speaker 1: Appreciate it. Back after this.
- 56:51Speaker 9: The 0570 WKBN.
- 56:53Speaker 1: Well, here you go. Let's see. It says... Democrat turnout
- 56:56Speaker 1: rebounds in Ohio's 2026 primary election. Democrat turnout in Ohio's
- 57:03Speaker 1: May 5th, 2026 election was higher than it was in
- 57:07Speaker 1: 2018 election, while Republican turnout was slightly lower. This is
- 57:13Speaker 1: a sharp reversal from 2022 when Ohioans requested nearly twice
- 57:17Speaker 1: as many Republican ballots as Democrat ones. Isn't that interesting?
- 57:24Speaker 1: So Democrat turnout in Ohio was higher than in 2018,
- 57:29Speaker 1: while Republican turnout was slightly lower. When Ohioans were accosted
- 57:34Speaker 1: nearly twice as many Republican ballots. All right, so you've
- 57:40Speaker 1: got to get Republicans to turn out in the general election.
- 57:44Speaker 1: I mean, Republicans have got to turn out. They always say, well,
- 57:47Speaker 1: it's hard to get them to turn out if Trump
- 57:49Speaker 1: isn't on the ballot list. Trump doesn't have to be
- 57:53Speaker 1: on the ballots, but certainly where you go as far
- 57:57Speaker 1: as midterms, that is very much on the ballots. And
- 58:00Speaker 1: where the state of Ohio goes, it's unbelievable to me
- 58:03Speaker 1: that Amy Acton, who quit as the state's doctor, who
- 58:08Speaker 1: couldn't take the pressure and couldn't take the criticism, she quit.
- 58:12Speaker 1: And now she says she wants to be the governor.
- 58:16Speaker 1: And I just shake my head. It's like, really? And
- 58:22Speaker 1: you just sit back and go, what the hell is
- 58:23Speaker 1: going on? So Republicans got to get out. You got
- 58:26Speaker 1: to have a decent turnout. You're on the air.
- 58:30Speaker 8: Hey, Ron.
- 58:31Speaker 23: You know, interesting point on Amy Acton, that there couldn't
- 58:34Speaker 23: have been an Amy Acton's career if Mike DeWine hadn't
- 58:36Speaker 23: appointed her. And she was known as an Obama campaign organizer.
- 58:42Speaker 23: And that just makes me scratch my head whenever we
- 58:45Speaker 23: are groaning and groaning about future Democrat governors within the
- 58:49Speaker 23: Republican Party. But the reason I called is I wanted
- 58:54Speaker 23: to share with you, because you do a great job
- 58:56Speaker 23: of interacting with local politicians, that I found a website
- 59:00Speaker 23: called freedomindex.us, and it ranks state representatives based on conservative
- 59:07Speaker 23: votes and.
- 59:08Speaker 7: How they did.
- 59:10Speaker 11: Very concise, very brief.
- 59:11Speaker 22: To the point.
- 59:12Speaker 23: And Tex Fisher got a 78%, which is okay, I guess,
- 59:19Speaker 23: on his conservative vote. But what was concerning is out
- 59:23Speaker 23: of 19 issues, he was absent. It said no vote
- 59:27Speaker 23: cast 47% of the time. Now, I don't know if
- 59:31Speaker 23: those were votes that went up before he was elected.
- 59:34Speaker 23: He's been in there for a little while. But I
- 59:39Speaker 23: find it very odd, and if he's listening or somebody
- 59:41Speaker 23: on his staff, I would love for him to call
- 59:43Speaker 23: in and say, is that data correct, that you were
- 59:46Speaker 23: absent 47% of the time on some critical votes? And
- 59:50Speaker 23: I didn't know if you had anything to add to
- 59:52Speaker 23: that or not, or if that had come up before
- 59:54Speaker 23: in other conversations or not.
- 59:56Speaker 1: No, it's news to me. I mean, if any of
- 59:59Speaker 1: it's accurate, I mean, it seems to me it depends,
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: like you said, on the time frame. So, no, I
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: have absolutely no clue.
- 1:00:09Speaker 23: Yeah, maybe we give them the benefit of the doubt, but.
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: It's free at index.us.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Stand by. I'll come back to you in a minute.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: Let me get my headlines out of the way. You
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: can finish your thoughts. Call us in line. Stand by.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: Ron Furb from the Kingdom of Mahoning. News Radio 570. WKVN.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: All right, let me go back and pick it up
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: with your comments. News Radio 570.
- 1:00:30Speaker 12: Hello?
- 1:00:32Speaker 6: Yes, yes.
- 1:00:33Speaker 23: I was talking about Tex Fisher and some of the
- 1:00:36Speaker 23: missing votes on this website called..
- 1:00:40Speaker 24: Uh..
- 1:00:40Speaker 23: Called freedom index dot u s and there were some
- 1:00:43Speaker 23: critical ones here some some missed opportunities assuming that he
- 1:00:46Speaker 23: was in office and that he didn't vote forty seven
- 1:00:49Speaker 23: percent of the time one of them was holding the
- 1:00:52Speaker 23: eps final role on carbon emissions and obviously conservatives would
- 1:00:58Speaker 23: say yes we want to hold that stop the e
- 1:01:00Speaker 23: p a from all of this carbon emission nonsense that's
- 1:01:04Speaker 23: driving the price of vehicles through the roof and all
- 1:01:07Speaker 23: the green energy that came out of Biden and Obama,
- 1:01:12Speaker 23: he didn't show up for that vote or didn't cast
- 1:01:14Speaker 23: a vote. There was also a ban on non-citizen campaign contributions,
- 1:01:19Speaker 23: no vote cast. Also a ban on sex mutilation of
- 1:01:23Speaker 23: children that we needed him there, no vote cast. And
- 1:01:28Speaker 23: a few others. So I won't go through them all,
- 1:01:31Speaker 23: but But I think it's worth asking him the question,
- 1:01:35Speaker 23: and you did a masterful job whenever he was pushing
- 1:01:38Speaker 23: legislation through about Ohio State games and the time, and
- 1:01:42Speaker 23: he was running for class clown of the Ohio representatives, evidently,
- 1:01:48Speaker 23: with the unkept hair and the clown nose on his face.
- 1:01:51Speaker 11: And I thought that was the.
- 1:01:51Speaker 23: Best 15 minutes of radio in your career when you
- 1:01:54Speaker 23: took him to task for that, so... I just wanted
- 1:01:56Speaker 23: to see if you knew anything about it, and maybe
- 1:01:59Speaker 23: have the listeners do what I did. I called his
- 1:02:02Speaker 23: office to ask, hey, can you explain this? Maybe there's
- 1:02:05Speaker 23: an explanation for it, but it would be great if
- 1:02:08Speaker 23: he were to call into the Ron Verb Show and
- 1:02:10Speaker 23: give an explanation. Again, it's freedomindex.us. Put in Tex Fisher,
- 1:02:16Speaker 23: and it shows his voting record on key votes, and
- 1:02:20Speaker 23: he was missing for 47% of them. And he even missed,
- 1:02:23Speaker 23: he even voted the opposite way we needed him to
- 1:02:26Speaker 23: vote on some other votes. I mean, I guess if
- 1:02:29Speaker 23: I was in school and brought home a report card
- 1:02:31Speaker 23: and said, hey, mom, I got a 78%, she wouldn't
- 1:02:34Speaker 23: be proud. So even when he shows up, he's not
- 1:02:38Speaker 23: doing so good. So I think voters in the Valley
- 1:02:41Speaker 23: need to keep an eye on this to hold him accountable.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: If it's accurate. All right. If it's accurate. There you go.
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: Thank you. NewsRadio 570, Dodie Curie, and you're on the air.
- 1:02:54Speaker 6: Hey, Ron. Listening all week and over the past week
- 1:03:01Speaker 6: and everything, and then speaking on my phone today, and
- 1:03:09Speaker 6: Harry Truman was born on this day. And Bishop Fulton J.
- 1:03:14Speaker 6: Sheen was born on this date. A couple of older
- 1:03:18Speaker 6: guys who had a lot of distrust for the Islamists
- 1:03:24Speaker 6: and didn't like the Nazis and didn't like the communists. Now, today,
- 1:03:31Speaker 6: we have a lot of popular people who kind of
- 1:03:36Speaker 6: side with the Islamists, side with the Marxists. Even that
- 1:03:41Speaker 6: show you guys have in the morning, as I was
- 1:03:46Speaker 6: clicking through, they were talking about the red-green alliance between
- 1:03:50Speaker 6: the communists and the Islamists from Cuba to all over
- 1:03:56Speaker 6: the world. We know about South America and their ties.
- 1:04:03Speaker 6: to the Islamists and their ties with the liberation theology
- 1:04:08Speaker 6: and the Catholic Church that was down there and the
- 1:04:11Speaker 6: Marxists that were all in cahoots together. And now we
- 1:04:18Speaker 6: have These, I don't know, podcasters, influencers, Megyn Kelly, who
- 1:04:26Speaker 6: you might remember her, Ron, from the debate with Donald
- 1:04:29Speaker 6: Trump in 2016, how nice she was to Donald Trump then,
- 1:04:36Speaker 6: and basically how nice she is now, because I think
- 1:04:39Speaker 6: she's the same person. And if anybody took five seconds...
- 1:04:44Speaker 6: to take their phone out of their pocket, stop gambling
- 1:04:48Speaker 6: on their phone, and look at Megyn Kelly. They can
- 1:04:50Speaker 6: see all the times she was on the Tower of
- 1:04:52Speaker 6: Stern and what a classy lady she really is. She's one.
- 1:04:58Speaker 6: We're worried about people not voting and everything, and we
- 1:05:04Speaker 6: get all these messages floating around from I don't know,
- 1:05:07Speaker 6: insane people who are being scratched and mutilated by demons,
- 1:05:12Speaker 6: like Tucker Katarlson. But, you know, he's the guy... Wait,
- 1:05:19Speaker 6: he's the guy who takes money from Islamists? I don't understand,
- 1:05:25Speaker 6: you know, why this following is happening, but... You know,
- 1:05:30Speaker 6: it's like Marjorie Taylor Greene. Oh, Marjorie Taylor Greene, you've
- 1:05:33Speaker 6: got to listen to her. She's traipsing around with this
- 1:05:36Speaker 6: entourage of Epstein victims, which any person of goodwill feels
- 1:05:45Speaker 6: bad for the Epstein victims, and they should get their justice.
- 1:05:48Speaker 6: But why doesn't Marjorie Taylor Greene take these young ladies
- 1:05:52Speaker 6: to the police station? Why doesn't she take them to
- 1:05:55Speaker 6: a lawyer to get something done? No, it's just making
- 1:05:58Speaker 6: a show of it, and I.
- 1:06:00Speaker 7: Guess she's just getting clickbait like all the other.
- 1:06:02Speaker 6: Ones, the ones who don't like the Christian Zionists more
- 1:06:09Speaker 6: than anyone else. And we wonder why we're not getting
- 1:06:15Speaker 6: a voter turnout. We're a little bit splintered. We're a
- 1:06:19Speaker 6: little bit fractured. And if you're listening to these people,
- 1:06:24Speaker 6: and if you actually pay attention to what they say, oh,
- 1:06:27Speaker 6: like what the New York Times did? Hey, Tucker Katarlson,
- 1:06:31Speaker 6: you said this. Those words have never left my lips. Oops,
- 1:06:36Speaker 6: let's play you saying it. I don't know what we're doing.
- 1:06:41Speaker 6: I don't know what we're doing here. Freedom of speech
- 1:06:45Speaker 6: is one thing. Alex Jones, his whole career was kept
- 1:06:48Speaker 6: in one place. I used to listen to him for
- 1:06:52Speaker 6: the three-quarters of a mile that you could get him
- 1:06:55Speaker 6: out of the station in Meadville. And I listened to
- 1:06:59Speaker 6: it for the entertainment value. Because the guy's insane. And
- 1:07:06Speaker 6: now he's part of the group, I guess. And we're
- 1:07:11Speaker 6: supposed to listen to him. And I'm going, what happened?
- 1:07:14Speaker 6: People who said things like all of these morons say...
- 1:07:19Speaker 6: were kept in their place. They had free speech, because
- 1:07:22Speaker 6: Ron always talks about that we have free speech here,
- 1:07:24Speaker 6: and that's great, and we should. We have to. It's
- 1:07:27Speaker 6: part of our Constitution. Except, like Rich the pharmacist, or
- 1:07:33Speaker 6: Diamond Dave, or the old-timer, or whoever it is that says, hey, yeah,
- 1:07:40Speaker 6: these people need to be settled down, because you keep
- 1:07:44Speaker 6: saying these things. It's like the Democrats..
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: Well, no, sit tight for a second. Tucker Carlson has
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: got a huge following as far as his YouTube channel
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: and what he's doing. So does Megyn Kelly. A lot
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: of the criticism of them is simply because they have
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: expressed concern over the influence of the Israeli-funded lobbyists, and
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: their criticism basically is how influential another country is on
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: our government and how much money they pump into campaigns
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: to try to destroy people who do not support that,
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: who do not take those contributions. Marjorie Taylor Greene being
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: one of them, Massey being another one of them.
- 1:08:26Speaker 8: I mean..
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: People would probably look at Massey and say they agree
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: with most of the stuff that he does. Massey's the
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: only one that I can think of off the top
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: of my head that is against all foreign aid. We're
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: a country that's $ 40 trillion in debt, and he's been
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: against foreign aid, all foreign aid. Why are we giving
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: billions of dollars to Israel and Egypt and everyone else?
- 1:08:51Speaker 21: Why?
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: I mean, Massey. So Massey's targeted in this congressional race.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: I think he's in Kentucky where he's targeted there. with
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: huge millions of dollars pouring in to try to get
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: rid of him because he doesn't take these contributions from
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: the Israeli PAC. But you just said that because..
- 1:09:15Speaker 6: Go ahead. So..
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: Tucker Carlson and these people are expressing their opinions. Keep
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: in mind, Tucker Carlson was on stage endorsing Trump and
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: Marjorie Taylor Greene was one of his earliest supporters. As
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: you're talking, Trump's got a lot of qualities about him
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: that are not admirable. I mean, his attacks the other day,
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: his attack on Bill Maher, some of the stuff that
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: he was saying about Bill Maher, I just thought was
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: uncalled for. The stuff that he says about low IQ
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: Tucker Carlson and Martin Well, he hung up. I don't
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: know why he hung up. And Marjorie Taylor Greene, some
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: of this stuff just is totally uncalled for. So I
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: don't know what the motivation of Trump is on some
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: of this stuff. You have a right to question these
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: things and be concerned about the influence of foreign money
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: and lobbyists on decisions your country is making. And if
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: you express concern over that, as Massey does, and Marjorie
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: Taylor Greene did, I mean, Trump turned on Trump turned
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: on these people because they they did not agree with
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: him on the Epstein situation. I mean, when you bring
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: this stuff up, I sit back and sit back and
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: take a look. Well, Trump was all about releasing all
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: the Epstein files. And then. For some reason, he he
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: did a 180. Are you still talking about that? That's
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: old news. when he told that reporter, he did a
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: complete 180. Well, people are saying, well, wait a minute.
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: We voted for him because there's a double standard of
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: justice here. These files should be released and people have
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: a right to know. And some people say, he said, well,
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: this could hurt some of my friends. We don't care.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: People are more concerned about the victims and people are
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: more concerned about the double standard of justice. And they're saying,
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: why did you change all of a sudden on these
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: Epstein files. Then people are saying, well, what happened here?
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: You were against regime change and getting bogged down in
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: these situations in the Middle East, and all of a
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: sudden you're engaged in this situation with Iran. And how
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: much of that was influenced by Israel? So they attack
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: these people because they're asking, These questions, I'm all for
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: people asking questions. I didn't support Joe Biden attacking people
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: asking questions about COVID or the vaccine or its origins.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: I want to go back to those days where they'd
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: go to the social media outlets and try to ban
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: people from expressing their thoughts and their opinions because they
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: didn't agree with the administration's thoughts and opinions. Well, I
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: didn't like it then, and I don't like it anymore
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: if Trump's trying to do it. And there's many people
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: that are Trump supporters. I mean, Tucker Carlson, Marjorie Taylor
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: Greene being two of them, and he just attacks them
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: and belittles them like that because they disagree with him
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: on Epstein and they disagree with him on this war.
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: Doesn't matter that they agree with him on 98% of
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: the other stuff he's doing, but because of those two
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: issues now, they're low IQ and he insults them like that. Well,
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: I think that turns a lot of people off. And
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: I think it turns a lot of his voters off.
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: And you do the same thing against Massey and Kentucky.
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: to where you're endorsing the guy running against him. And
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: Massey didn't take any money from the Israeli lobbyist and
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: has a very conservative voting record. I mean, it's bizarre
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: when you see him sometimes turn on some of his
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: best supporters. I mean, it's hard to justify any of that.
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: So there are people that ask those questions. Why the
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: 180 on Epstein? Why the 180 on the Middle East situation?
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: Why the 180 on Marjorie Tedder Green was there for
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: you from day one and campaigning for you? Now she's
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: a traitor. Tucker was there working for you. Now he's
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: low IQ. And I'm trying to think of the other ones.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: I mean, there's nothing about that that I think is admirable.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: You have a right to disagree with the guy on
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: these issues. And still like his presidency overall. I don't
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: think any one of those people would vote for Kamala
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: Harris or the Democrat. I think Massey's a pretty impressive
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: figure in Congress. I hope he wins re-election when you
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: see that much money pouring into that district to try
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: to defeat a guy. I wish Marjorie Taylor Greene would
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: not have resigned. I wish she would have finished out
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: her term. And quite frankly, I wish she would have
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: won for re-election. I understand she was concerned for her safety.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: And so there are many thoughts that you could have
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: about that situation. And I don't find anything admirable about
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: Trump doing that kind of stuff against those people, any
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: of them. You're on the air.
- 1:14:26Speaker 25: My psychiatrist said if I ever feel lonely and depressed
- 1:14:29Speaker 25: to call this number.
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: Yes, Dr. Verbier, I'm here for you if you're lonely
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: and depressed. Advice to the lovelorn as well.
- 1:14:38Speaker 25: Well, he said you'll realize that it could get worse.
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: Absolutely. When you're done talking to me, you'll realize how
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: lucky you got it.
- 1:14:46Speaker 22: Yes, yes, I am.
- 1:14:48Speaker 25: Hey, was that Jake that was talking?
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:14:53Speaker 21: Yes.
- 1:14:53Speaker 25: Yeah, I saw the thing on Tucker where they're interviewing him,
- 1:14:58Speaker 25: and they showed him a clip of him saying something,
- 1:15:02Speaker 25: and he just completely lied about it.
- 1:15:04Speaker 11: I don't remember saying that.
- 1:15:05Speaker 25: That never came out of my mouth. I think that was,
- 1:15:09Speaker 25: Tucker went off the rails a little bit somewhere along
- 1:15:12Speaker 25: the line, I think.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: Well, he just disagrees with some of the stuff that
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: Trump was doing.
- 1:15:19Speaker 25: I know, but they showed, you know, unless it's AI
- 1:15:22Speaker 25: video of him saying stuff, they showed like a couple
- 1:15:25Speaker 25: clips and he denied saying that. So I don't know
- 1:15:29Speaker 25: if he thinks that, you know, AI is going to
- 1:15:31Speaker 25: cover for him or what.
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: No, I don't know. I must confess I haven't seen it.
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: And I don't know what's– that's one of the biggest
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: problems with AI. I would have to see it to
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: see if it's for real. But they say AI will
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: reach a point where you won't be able to believe
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: what you see. And we shall see if that's the case.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: And things can be taken out of context. So I
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: don't know. I haven't seen that particular situation. But I
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: think Tucker Carlson is a smart person, and I think
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: he has– a lot of insight into things. And I
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: think Trump attacking him speaks poorly of Trump or attacking
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: Marjorie Taylor green. What are you doing? Attacking your earliest
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: supporters that help you get elected because they disagree with
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: you on Epstein. Listen, I I'm against the double standard
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: of justice. Aren't you? I think everything with Epstein should
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: be released. And he reversed himself. I mean, one day
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: in a blink of an eye, remember is, Oh, that's
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: old news. What are you talking about that before? I mean,
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: he totally changed on that, and he totally changed on
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: his situation in the Middle East. I'm against regime changes
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: and forever wars in the Middle East and that kind
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: of stuff. And a lot of people are saying, did
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: he do this or was he directed this way as
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: a result of the influence of Israel? Well, it's okay
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: to ask those questions. It's not a sin.
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:16:53Speaker 25: But, I mean, Trump, it goes back to the walking
- 1:16:56Speaker 25: a mile in his shoes.
- 1:16:57Speaker 11: I mean, he grew up in a totally different world
- 1:16:59Speaker 11: than me.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: Stand by, stand by. It's the unknown caller. I'll be
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: back with him in a minute. It's a 452. Ron
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: Verb from the Kingdom of Mahoney on another overcast day
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: and 54 degrees.
- 1:17:10Speaker 9: To listen now, 570 WKBN.
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: All right, back to it. Go ahead with your comments.
- 1:17:18Speaker 25: Yeah, I was talking about, you know, walking a mile
- 1:17:21Speaker 25: in Donald Trump's shoe. I mean, he grew up in
- 1:17:23Speaker 25: the real estate jungle, so there's probably people coming after
- 1:17:26Speaker 25: him all the time. So he had to, like, learn
- 1:17:29Speaker 25: a defensive mechanism mechanism so that's probably what happened to
- 1:17:33Speaker 25: him but um hey john arnold's show last night was
- 1:17:37Speaker 25: great i i thought i was very interested in that show.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: I think it's a i think it's a really good
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: interesting program he's always want to start his own hedge
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: fund that's what that's what he's doing and uh it
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: doesn't launch i think till may 15th and only 100
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: people will be in it. There's financial criteria to get
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: in it, so eliminate..
- 1:17:58Speaker 25: I heard the criteria. I will not be one of
- 1:18:00Speaker 25: the 100. Yeah. But on the AI subject, though, he
- 1:18:05Speaker 25: was saying that, yeah, there's not going to be any...
- 1:18:08Speaker 25: No need to go to college because AI is going
- 1:18:10Speaker 25: to take all the mental jobs. But a great point
- 1:18:13Speaker 25: he made was the fact that all these people are
- 1:18:16Speaker 25: going to be plumbers and welders and stuff. Who's going
- 1:18:19Speaker 25: to pay them?
- 1:18:20Speaker 11: Because nobody's working.
- 1:18:21Speaker 25: So his... bleak observation of the next 10 years where,
- 1:18:27Speaker 25: you know, the economy is going to go flat was
- 1:18:31Speaker 25: kind of terrifying.
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: No, he said he expressed genuine concern, just as Elon
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: Musk has, over what AI can do to the economy. Well,
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: they say within three years, 50% of the white-collar jobs
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: will go away to AI. You lost $ 9, 000 or $ 10, 000.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: other day with Meta. Facebook wiped out 9,000 or 10,000
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: jobs replaced by AI. And what they're saying is in
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: three years, 50% of white-collar jobs will be gone. Okay,
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: so now the argument is what are all those people
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: supposed to do? They're pretty decent jobs, probably making a
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: good buck. How are they going to survive and survive?
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: John's basically was saying about the trickle-down effect. If that
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: person doesn't have money, then they're not building a new home.
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: They're not renovating the bathroom and what have you.
- 1:19:22Speaker 25: Yeah, which I thought was a great point. But AI,
- 1:19:27Speaker 25: how about Alec? Was that really him that called in
- 1:19:29Speaker 25: today or no?
- 1:19:30Speaker 15: I don't know.
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: I don't know. That's a good question, but That's why
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: you said, well, this deal with Tucker, that's the problem
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: they say with AI. You won't know what to believe
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: what you see. It will make you question what you see,
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: whether it's true or false, because AI will be so
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: good you won't know, did President Trump actually say that
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: or didn't he say that? That kind of stuff. And
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: that's what they say will be the problem with AI.
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: You won't believe it even when you see it with
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: your eyes.
- 1:20:00Speaker 25: That's a terrifying world, though, if you think about it.
- 1:20:05Speaker 25: It's going to be like everybody's in a nursing home
- 1:20:07Speaker 25: at this point.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: Pretty much. I mean, it's troubling what is ahead. The
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: stuff I'm reading says it's greatly underestimated, not overestimated, how
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: good AI is going to be at a lot of
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: this stuff. I mean, we're sitting here today saying this
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: is just hard to imagine any of this stuff happening.
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: But they say it's underestimated and it's going to be–
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: I mentioned that type of job loss within three years.
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: So we're not talking 10 years, three years. So it
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: can be a big problem. There's people that are arguing,
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: why are we letting anybody into our country, illegal or
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: legal at this point, when we can see this tsunami
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: that's coming as far as employment is concerned? We should
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: probably stop all– Immigration in the country, legal and illegal
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: at this point until we see what's ahead here.
- 1:20:59Speaker 25: Yeah, well, I heard, like, I don't know if it's Google.
- 1:21:02Speaker 25: I don't want to, you know, step on anybody's toes.
- 1:21:06Speaker 25: But I heard, like, there was a Google machine that
- 1:21:09Speaker 25: actually made itself better. They went from, like, you know,
- 1:21:12Speaker 25: Google 3 to Google 5.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:21:16Speaker 25: Hey, what about the UFO stuff?
- 1:21:18Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: Stand by. I'll let you finish your thoughts after my
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: break at 5, and then I'll be right back.
- 1:21:26Speaker 16: From ABC News, I'm Mike Daboski. The cruise ship at
- 1:21:30Speaker 16: the center of the hantavirus outbreak is expected to arrive
- 1:21:33Speaker 16: at a port in the Canary Islands on Sunday. ABC
- 1:21:36Speaker 16: foreign correspondent Maggie Rooley is in Spain, where officials are
- 1:21:39Speaker 16: showing off the area that passengers are set to disembark.
- 1:21:42Speaker 18: They claim this process will keep everyone on board this
- 1:21:45Speaker 18: cruise ship entirely isolated from the island. They also confirmed
- 1:21:49Speaker 18: today that the U.S. says they will send a plane
- 1:21:52Speaker 18: to pick up those U.S. citizens that are on board
- 1:21:55Speaker 18: as well. So again, this is all supposed to happen
- 1:21:57Speaker 18: in the next 48 hours or so. So a lot
- 1:21:59Speaker 18: of questions, though, about how exactly they're going.
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: To pull it off.
- 1:22:02Speaker 16: The CDC is at an emergency response level three right now,
- 1:22:05Speaker 16: its lowest level of emergency activation. Russia and Ukraine have
- 1:22:09Speaker 16: agreed to a three-day ceasefire beginning tomorrow. Both sides have
- 1:22:13Speaker 16: also agreed to exchange a thousand prisoners. ABC's Patrick Riewel
- 1:22:16Speaker 16: has details.
- 1:22:17Speaker 26: President Trump has hailed this short three-day ceasefire as perhaps
- 1:22:20Speaker 26: the beginning of the end of the war in Ukraine.
- 1:22:23Speaker 26: But in reality, there's no reason to think that. Vladimir
- 1:22:26Speaker 26: Putin had called for this brief pause in attacks for
- 1:22:28Speaker 26: this weekend over Russia's Victory Day holiday when he holds
- 1:22:32Speaker 26: a huge annual military parade on Red Square. The Kremlin
- 1:22:35Speaker 26: was worried that Ukraine might attack that parade.
- 1:22:38Speaker 16: Meanwhile, Iran is still weighing the latest framework for future
- 1:22:41Speaker 16: peace negotiations that the U.S.
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: Is proposing.
- 1:22:44Speaker 16: It comes after the two sides exchanged fire in the
- 1:22:47Speaker 16: Strait of Hormuz yesterday. Though President Trump is maintaining the
- 1:22:50Speaker 16: ceasefire is still in place. The Pentagon has released a
- 1:22:53Speaker 16: new batch of files documenting UFOs. ABC News senior Pentagon
- 1:22:57Speaker 16: reporter Louie Martinez says there are more than 160 documents
- 1:23:00Speaker 16: dating back to the 1940s.
- 1:23:02Speaker 27: The release of the documents follows a directive from President
- 1:23:05Speaker 27: Trump earlier this year to open up all of the
- 1:23:07Speaker 27: federal government's UFO files. The Pentagon's earlier reviews have not
- 1:23:11Speaker 27: found any proof that the incidents were extraterrestrial in origin.
- 1:23:14Speaker 16: And the Labor Department says the economy added 115,000 jobs
- 1:23:18Speaker 16: last month, according to their latest employment report. You're listening
- 1:23:21Speaker 16: to ABC News.
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to make a point on the UFOs.
- 1:23:39Speaker 25: But first, I did see Ted's pic on Facebook. Unless
- 1:23:44Speaker 25: it's just AI, maybe he just photoshopped himself in there.
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: Maybe it isn't, Ted.
- 1:23:53Speaker 25: My nephew took a picture of my family just all
- 1:23:56Speaker 25: sitting down. And through AI, he made a movie of
- 1:24:00Speaker 25: us all just getting up and giving high fives to
- 1:24:03Speaker 25: each other. I mean, just from one still photo on camera.
- 1:24:09Speaker 25: I mean, that's kind of crazy. Hey, the UFOs, though,
- 1:24:12Speaker 25: all the news coming out today. So if a spaceman
- 1:24:17Speaker 25: lands in the U.S., is he an illegal alien?
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: Good point. What will we call him?
- 1:24:25Speaker 22: Yes.
- 1:24:26Speaker 25: I'm going to have to set up a dome or
- 1:24:28Speaker 25: something to keep them out. I don't know.
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: Based on what they're saying and what you're seeing, do
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: you believe in UFOs?
- 1:24:38Speaker 25: I completely think it's possible, yeah.
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: That there are visitors from other planets or galaxies?
- 1:24:46Speaker 25: The universe is so advanced that, I mean, it's so
- 1:24:51Speaker 25: expansive that there's millions of planets and solar systems. And
- 1:24:56Speaker 25: there's got to be somebody smarter. Like, you think, like,
- 1:24:59Speaker 25: the little atom guys and neutron and everything, they always thought, well,
- 1:25:03Speaker 25: there's nobody else out there until we got our big
- 1:25:08Speaker 25: electron microscopes and start looking in on them. You know,
- 1:25:12Speaker 25: it's like the same thing. The aliens got way more
- 1:25:14Speaker 25: advanced stuff, and they're looking in on us.
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: All right. I mean, it's... They were saying, where was
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: it that some of these... Area 57 or whatever it is.
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: I forget what they call it. Roswell and this kind
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: of stuff.
- 1:25:31Speaker 11: I think it's 51.
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: Area 51. They reversed engineered stuff and they don't want
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: people to know that.
- 1:25:37Speaker 6: Well..
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: I would like to know the answer. For some reason,
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: they say, well, the government's not going to tell you
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: the truth because people would panic if they knew the truth.
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: And I don't buy that for a second. So I
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: don't know what to believe about it. Do you remember
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: when all those people were worked in a tizzy over
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: that stuff that was flying around? Was it New York
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: or New Jersey that was moving around? And here it
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: was just your military equipment. That was in some type
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: of new drone activity that finally came out. And you
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: had all kinds of people asking questions about that, including
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: political people who didn't have a clue what was going on.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: And here was just a situation where you had the
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: military with the latest and greatest drone invention that they
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: had that was doing this kind of stuff. And somehow
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: that information finally came out. But it didn't come out
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: after it took a while before it came out.
- 1:26:31Speaker 25: Well, I heard on another show, I think it was
- 1:26:33Speaker 25: a national show, some guy made a good point where,
- 1:26:36Speaker 25: you know, we're spending all this money to keep Area
- 1:26:39Speaker 25: 51 secret since 1947. So where's all this money going?
- 1:26:45Speaker 25: If it's not going to looking up at UFOs or,
- 1:26:48Speaker 25: you know, dissecting the bodies, where's all that money going,
- 1:26:51Speaker 25: you know?
- 1:26:52Speaker 7: Yep.
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: Good point. Good topic. Thank you. Appreciate it. The unknown caller.
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: He's got to go. He's always got to go. We've
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: got a bunch more calls standing by. G2 will join
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: me as we take some of those as well. Any comments, G2,
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: on this UFO stuff?
- 1:27:07Speaker 6: Well, first on Tex Fisher.
- 1:27:10Speaker 11: You know, I was surprised to hear that he'd missed 47%
- 1:27:13Speaker 11: of his votes, so I checked into it. The votes
- 1:27:16Speaker 11: that he missed happened before he took office. So that's
- 1:27:20Speaker 11: what the website shows, and I look at those websites too.
- 1:27:23Speaker 22: I use them.
- 1:27:23Speaker 11: 78% is actually a pretty good score for a Freedom Index,
- 1:27:27Speaker 11: believe it or not. You've got to be like Massey
- 1:27:29Speaker 11: to get up to like 101. You've got to really
- 1:27:31Speaker 11: be like him to get to the top of the ranks,
- 1:27:33Speaker 11: but you've got to be there a while to do
- 1:27:35Speaker 11: it as well. But 78% would be like four times
- 1:27:40Speaker 11: better than John Thune. But the idea of missing all
- 1:27:43Speaker 11: those votes kind of shook me. I was stunned a
- 1:27:46Speaker 11: little bit, so I went and checked into it. They
- 1:27:48Speaker 11: all occurred before he was put into office, before he
- 1:27:50Speaker 11: was sworn in. So he wasn't actually eligible to cast
- 1:27:53Speaker 11: those ballots.
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: Which makes sense. What are your thoughts? You mentioned Massey.
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: I mean, all of this outside money is funneling into
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: this congressional race in Kentucky. It might be one of
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: the most expensive ever to try to defeat Massey. What's
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: your thoughts about Massey and Trump turning on him and
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: all the outside money coming in?
- 1:28:18Speaker 11: Well, first of all, I think the people of Kentucky
- 1:28:20Speaker 11: ought to have a voice in this. And outside money
- 1:28:24Speaker 11: is unfortunately able to move the needle so hard. Massey
- 1:28:28Speaker 11: was winning his races with extraordinary margins. And I mean,
- 1:28:33Speaker 11: I'm talking about he was getting 70, 80 percent of
- 1:28:35Speaker 11: the vote, something like that. There were extraordinary margins. So
- 1:28:39Speaker 11: when you look at his voting record, going right back
- 1:28:40Speaker 11: to these indexes, I was looking at a graphic that
- 1:28:44Speaker 11: had the index for him and others.
- 1:28:46Speaker 12: He was like 101.
- 1:28:46Speaker 11: I don't know how you get extra credit. And And
- 1:28:50Speaker 11: then you look at somebody like Foon, F. You look
- 1:28:52Speaker 11: at somebody like Johnson. You know, he's in the last
- 1:28:56Speaker 11: time I checked, I think he was in the 70s,
- 1:28:57Speaker 11: which is pretty good. But, you know, he's not pushing
- 1:28:59Speaker 11: the Save Act. So when you look at the actual
- 1:29:03Speaker 11: people in office, they're really low. Massey stands out head
- 1:29:06Speaker 11: and shoulders above. Right behind him would be like Marjorie
- 1:29:08Speaker 11: Taylor Greene. So there's a problem here in that the
- 1:29:12Speaker 11: harder you vote in the way that the people want,
- 1:29:15Speaker 11: the more opposition you get. And I know people who
- 1:29:18Speaker 11: are really smart and really well-informed who really think he's
- 1:29:22Speaker 11: sort of cracked up a little bit. But let's look
- 1:29:24Speaker 11: at why he actually is now being, what do you
- 1:29:28Speaker 11: call it, I guess disallowed by the deciders. The deciders,
- 1:29:33Speaker 11: those who decide such things, have disallowed him from the
- 1:29:36Speaker 11: people of Kentucky because he called for the release of
- 1:29:38Speaker 11: the Epstein files, which was something that had wildly strong
- 1:29:42Speaker 11: support among the populace.
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: And you called for that as well.
- 1:29:47Speaker 4: I did, yes.
- 1:29:48Speaker 11: And he voted against foreign aid. And when it comes
- 1:29:52Speaker 11: to foreign aid, that's where Israel stepped in and said,
- 1:29:54Speaker 11: wait a minute, you've got to vote for our foreign aid.
- 1:29:56Speaker 11: He said, no, I don't support any foreign aid. We've
- 1:29:58Speaker 11: got a $ 2 trillion deficit. Now, that is extremely consistent
- 1:30:02Speaker 11: with everything he's said and done over the last, I
- 1:30:04Speaker 11: don't know, since the time that I've been aware of him, okay?
- 1:30:08Speaker 11: So I wasn't at all surprised by that. I wasn't
- 1:30:11Speaker 11: offended by that. It's his right to have that view,
- 1:30:13Speaker 11: and I thought he argued it well. That was deemed
- 1:30:15Speaker 11: unacceptable and eventually anti-Semitic. So it was deemed then that
- 1:30:21Speaker 11: the people of Kentucky could no longer select him. So,
- 1:30:25Speaker 11: you know, that's it.
- 1:30:26Speaker 14: He's out.
- 1:30:27Speaker 11: Now, there may have been some other issues in there.
- 1:30:29Speaker 11: I can't remember what they are. There was something that
- 1:30:33Speaker 11: Trump went at that he opposed and all this. And
- 1:30:36Speaker 11: this is, you know, the way this is supposed to work,
- 1:30:39Speaker 11: it's not necessary you agree all the time. But he
- 1:30:42Speaker 11: certainly agrees with the American agenda more than almost anyone
- 1:30:45Speaker 11: in Congress, maybe than anyone in Congress. And so, to me,
- 1:30:49Speaker 11: this is a loss. Now, they've raised about $ 10 million.
- 1:30:52Speaker 11: This is Mary Nadelson and a couple of other folks
- 1:30:56Speaker 11: in the Israeli group who have said, listen, we're going to.
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: Put him out.
- 1:30:58Speaker 11: They've got a veteran. We always have to elect the veterans, right?
- 1:31:02Speaker 11: I mean, despite everything we see from all these vets
- 1:31:05Speaker 11: like Crenshaw and all these other guys with the CIA
- 1:31:07Speaker 11: in Congress, got to vote for the vet. And they
- 1:31:10Speaker 11: specifically say they like this candidate because he absolutely, totally,
- 1:31:15Speaker 11: completely supports Israel. And this is where they're missing the boat.
- 1:31:19Speaker 11: I mean, browbeating everyone into blind support for Israel isn't
- 1:31:24Speaker 11: going to work. And pretending, for example, that they didn't
- 1:31:27Speaker 11: have a hand in getting us into this war in Iran,
- 1:31:29Speaker 11: that isn't going to work. Demanding that Israel's interests be
- 1:31:33Speaker 11: put ahead of the United States, it's not going to
- 1:31:35Speaker 11: gain you favor. And I don't think the Israelis, including
- 1:31:39Speaker 11: those that are American who identify with Israel in such
- 1:31:42Speaker 11: a close level that they really think Israel is them
- 1:31:45Speaker 11: and they are Israel. It isn't going to work to
- 1:31:50Speaker 11: sort of try to force everyone into this. Now, showing
- 1:31:53Speaker 11: how much power they have, the AIPAC power, the lobby power,
- 1:31:57Speaker 11: the donor power of Steve Wynn and all these guys,
- 1:32:01Speaker 11: Mark Levin's media power, the power they have at Fox
- 1:32:05Speaker 11: News and now CBS and pretty much every platform. It's
- 1:32:10Speaker 11: not going to make Americans feel real good about being
- 1:32:14Speaker 11: put in second place. And that's how many Americans feel.
- 1:32:17Speaker 11: You may disagree with this. I don't care. I'm telling
- 1:32:20Speaker 11: you that millions of Americans now look at this and
- 1:32:23Speaker 11: say we go to war because Israel said so. We're
- 1:32:26Speaker 11: constantly told Israel's interests have to come above our own. Huckabee,
- 1:32:30Speaker 11: Ted Cruz say, if you don't do what Netanyahu says,
- 1:32:33Speaker 11: God will be mad at you. And you could pick
- 1:32:35Speaker 11: that apart and say, oh, technically, that's exactly what they mean.
- 1:32:39Speaker 11: So when you're getting beat with this all the time, honestly,
- 1:32:43Speaker 11: you're getting a response. And then this thing, I heard
- 1:32:45Speaker 11: some of the commentary about Tucker and I don't know who.
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: Mark Kelly and Marjorie Taylor Greene. Yeah, those three.
- 1:32:53Speaker 11: Yeah, there were two members of the House today resolution
- 1:32:58Speaker 11: condemning Candace Owens and some guy, I don't even, I
- 1:33:01Speaker 11: don't know who he is, because they said something they
- 1:33:03Speaker 11: don't like. I mean, what are we doing here? You
- 1:33:07Speaker 11: got members of the House going after podcasters because they
- 1:33:10Speaker 11: don't like what they said? And that's both a Republican
- 1:33:13Speaker 11: and a Democrat, which then reinforces the message that that
- 1:33:17Speaker 11: a certain group has tremendous bipartisan control and that there
- 1:33:20Speaker 11: is no aisle in Congress. So the harder they try
- 1:33:24Speaker 11: to force you to believe something, the more you won't
- 1:33:26Speaker 11: believe it except for maybe 30% of the population. And
- 1:33:30Speaker 11: I think this is backfiring horribly. Now, Tucker Carlson, I
- 1:33:34Speaker 11: know that he was, they asked him if he said something,
- 1:33:36Speaker 11: and he said, no, I didn't say it. Listen, that
- 1:33:37Speaker 11: guy's got thousands of hours of media time. He's changed
- 1:33:41Speaker 11: positions over the years. He's, I'm sure, gone one way
- 1:33:43Speaker 11: one time or another. There's no doubt that he doesn't
- 1:33:45Speaker 11: remember things he said. Either way, I'm just listening to
- 1:33:49Speaker 11: what he's saying now, and frankly, I don't listen to
- 1:33:51Speaker 11: him that much. But when he did the interview of
- 1:33:54Speaker 11: the Christian in Palestine, if you weren't moved by that,
- 1:33:58Speaker 11: then you are really ideologically captured. When he did the
- 1:34:02Speaker 11: interview with Huckabee, if you weren't concerned about that, then
- 1:34:06Speaker 11: you're ideologically so dedicated to this Zionism that, you know,
- 1:34:11Speaker 11: that that's where you are. And okay, that's your Zionist.
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: That's okay.
- 1:34:14Speaker 11: I mean, you just have to make a decision as
- 1:34:18Speaker 11: to whose interests come first. Is it the United States
- 1:34:20Speaker 11: or Israel? This is, you know, look, I don't hate Jews.
- 1:34:23Speaker 11: They always say, oh, anti-Semitic. Listen, disagreeing with a policy
- 1:34:27Speaker 11: of the political entity like the state of Israel doesn't
- 1:34:30Speaker 11: make you hate some group of people. And if you
- 1:34:34Speaker 11: look at southern Lebanon, which, by the way, I don't
- 1:34:36Speaker 11: think we're supposed to look at because you notice nobody's
- 1:34:38Speaker 11: talking about it. Well, go look at that and tell
- 1:34:41Speaker 11: me there's justification for that.
- 1:34:43Speaker 6: There isn't.
- 1:34:44Speaker 15: There just isn't.
- 1:34:46Speaker 11: And I heard some people saying, well, listen, they're all terrorists.
- 1:34:50Speaker 4: Level the whole thing.
- 1:34:51Speaker 11: And that's exactly what they did. And, you know, I mean,
- 1:34:54Speaker 11: when you go out in a day and you kill
- 1:34:56Speaker 11: 400 people but don't actually identify who they are in
- 1:34:59Speaker 11: one day, And you know that they're attacking Christian villages
- 1:35:02Speaker 11: and doing that and then claiming they're Hamas or Hezbollah?
- 1:35:05Speaker 11: It's not selling.
- 1:35:06Speaker 6: And so.
- 1:35:08Speaker 11: I think that this debate that's going on where people
- 1:35:12Speaker 11: are raising questions and others are condemning them for raising
- 1:35:15Speaker 11: the questions. That's that's an important debate.
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: It should go on.
- 1:35:19Speaker 11: Form your own opinions. You know, if you follow Fox News,
- 1:35:22Speaker 11: you think anti-Semitism is the biggest problem we have in
- 1:35:24Speaker 11: the country. I don't. I actually think we have bigger problems.
- 1:35:27Speaker 11: And in fact, if we were an anti-Semitic country, I
- 1:35:30Speaker 11: think we'd notice.
- 1:35:31Speaker 7: Right.
- 1:35:32Speaker 11: But like I said, Larry Ellison just bought CBS and
- 1:35:34Speaker 11: TikTok to drive that message. You've got half the administration
- 1:35:40Speaker 11: is Israeli. And in the last administration, it was half.
- 1:35:43Speaker 11: That's 2% of the population that is tremendously overrepresented in government.
- 1:35:49Speaker 11: So an anti-Semitic country wouldn't do that, right? It wouldn't
- 1:35:54Speaker 11: happen that way. You know, you wouldn't have Anthony Blinken
- 1:35:56Speaker 11: as your Secretary of State if you're an anti-Semitic country.
- 1:36:01Speaker 11: So this is, I think... all about driving a narrative
- 1:36:05Speaker 11: that supports a political agenda and the agenda is really
- 1:36:07Speaker 11: simple we want to take out iran we want to
- 1:36:10Speaker 11: take out other regimes we wanted to take out beer
- 1:36:12Speaker 11: bashir al-assad and we need the u.s. military machine to
- 1:36:15Speaker 11: do it and so that's that's the goal and it's
- 1:36:19Speaker 11: not just their goal as we talked about the other
- 1:36:21Speaker 11: night there are several entities that seem to be fighting
- 1:36:24Speaker 11: for control of the united states printer and military and
- 1:36:29Speaker 11: culture right to some element of one or all three
- 1:36:31Speaker 11: of those And if you look at this.
- 1:36:34Speaker 4: Go ahead.
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: No, I'm just saying when you take a look at this,
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: you look at Marjorie Taylor Greene, you look at Massey,
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: and you see everything that I think is good, and
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: yet they're out to destroy them, they being this big
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: lobbyist money. When they're shipping that much money in to
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: try to defeat these people, that's when you better take
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: a serious look at these people and what they stand for,
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: because when you look at it, you find they pretty
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: much stand for what most people stand for. Why are
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: they trying to destroy them?
- 1:37:09Speaker 11: That's right. We talk about AIPAC, so I looked up
- 1:37:13Speaker 11: their funding, and they had something like $ 52 million in
- 1:37:19Speaker 11: contributions in the 23 to 24 cycle. That is a
- 1:37:23Speaker 11: massive amount of money on AIPAC.
- 1:37:25Speaker 6: In politics, right?
- 1:37:28Speaker 7: That is massive.
- 1:37:29Speaker 11: And if you think about the amount of spending that
- 1:37:35Speaker 11: Israel's committing to try to convince us of certain things,
- 1:37:38Speaker 11: you know, they call this Hasbro or public diplomacy or PR,
- 1:37:43Speaker 11: whatever you call it. You know, they spent like $ 150
- 1:37:48Speaker 11: million in 2025, which is about 20 times more than before.
- 1:37:52Speaker 11: That was 2025. That was $ 120. $ 150 million, according to
- 1:37:57Speaker 11: what I've been able to find, then I'll look at
- 1:37:59Speaker 11: $ 730 million. That's $ 730 million to convince us of certain things,
- 1:38:04Speaker 11: to push narratives in media. Now, you remember when they
- 1:38:07Speaker 11: brought 1,000 evangelical pastors over, and they ran this program
- 1:38:11Speaker 11: called 50 States, 1 Israel. Not 50 States, the United States,
- 1:38:16Speaker 11: and Israel.
- 1:38:16Speaker 6: 50 States, 1 Israel.
- 1:38:18Speaker 11: They were engaging directly with these pastors and saying, you're
- 1:38:21Speaker 11: to be our ambassadors. You have to agree to be
- 1:38:23Speaker 11: our ambassadors. God calls upon you to be our ambassadors.
- 1:38:26Speaker 14: And they did.
- 1:38:27Speaker 11: These evangelicals came back to the evangelicals. States and started
- 1:38:31Speaker 11: pounding the pulpits with Israel's message. And then they called
- 1:38:35Speaker 11: over the social media influencers, obviously not Tucker and..
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: Right, right, stand by, just stand by. Hang on, talking
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: about the controversy with Tucker and a whole lot more.
- 1:38:47Speaker 9: Radio 570 WKVN.
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: Ron Verb, 525 G2 with us till 6 o'clock. You
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: want to take some calls as we go along here too?
- 1:38:55Speaker 11: You bet.
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: All right. Let's grab some. You're on here. Are you there?
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: Maybe not. Go ahead. Hey, Ron.
- 1:39:07Speaker 6: Hey, G2. This is Tex Fisher. Just calling in.
- 1:39:09Speaker 14: Heard some folks were calling in about my attendance record.
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: Yeah, G2 kind of answered that to say that this
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: absenteeism on all these votes, and then G2 said that
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: was before you were even in office. That was during,
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: I guess, when Al Catrona was there.
- 1:39:25Speaker 14: Yes, that is correct. So I got a flurry of
- 1:39:28Speaker 14: text messages from some friends saying that somebody was on
- 1:39:30Speaker 14: there and I should call in. So appreciate you setting
- 1:39:33Speaker 14: the record straight there, G2. Yeah, I can't take votes
- 1:39:37Speaker 14: when I wasn't in office yet, but very proud of
- 1:39:39Speaker 14: my attendance record.
- 1:39:40Speaker 8: And voting record.
- 1:39:41Speaker 14: And I actually was just made aware of that. freedom score,
- 1:39:45Speaker 14: that freedom index scorecard. So I just took a look
- 1:39:48Speaker 14: at that, but do want to draw attention to the
- 1:39:50Speaker 14: turning point action scorecard where I have a 96. So
- 1:39:53Speaker 14: also very proud of that trying to get to a 97, but, um, yeah,
- 1:39:56Speaker 14: I just wanted to make sure that record was set
- 1:39:58Speaker 14: straight because if I'm missing all those votes, I don't
- 1:40:00Speaker 14: know why I'm driving down five hours every week to
- 1:40:02Speaker 14: and from Columbus.
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: What do you think this future is for Vivek? Looking
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: good or going to be a tough race?
- 1:40:11Speaker 4: Yes, it's going to be a very competitive election.
- 1:40:13Speaker 14: I think some of the stuff going on at the
- 1:40:16Speaker 14: national level is making people frustrated.
- 1:40:18Speaker 7: And frankly, I think..
- 1:40:20Speaker 14: Our biggest issue is not convincing people who might be
- 1:40:23Speaker 14: in the middle. I think our biggest issue is proving
- 1:40:24Speaker 14: to our own voters that we're worthy of re-election and
- 1:40:28Speaker 14: that we're actually doing things they care about. And unfortunately,
- 1:40:31Speaker 14: I think both at the state and the federal level,
- 1:40:32Speaker 14: we've left a lot of really good stuff kind of
- 1:40:35Speaker 14: sitting around waiting. And don't blame people that are frustrated
- 1:40:39Speaker 14: with the Republican Party.
- 1:40:40Speaker 7: Across the board. You know, I'm excited about..
- 1:40:45Speaker 14: I think there's going to be a lot of bold
- 1:40:46Speaker 14: reforms we need to do, but we at the state
- 1:40:49Speaker 14: level have a lot.
- 1:40:49Speaker 6: Of work to do to prove to our voters that we're.
- 1:40:53Speaker 7: Worth continued employment.
- 1:40:54Speaker 14: I mean, we're... We have potentially billions of dollars of
- 1:40:58Speaker 14: Medicaid fraud happening in Columbus with these home health care companies.
- 1:41:01Speaker 14: And the breaking report that just came out a few
- 1:41:03Speaker 14: days ago from the Daily Wire highlighting just some of
- 1:41:06Speaker 14: the low-hanging fruit. And part of the problem there is
- 1:41:09Speaker 14: we're dealing with a governor and administration that refuses to
- 1:41:12Speaker 14: acknowledge there's a problem, even though it's pretty obvious and
- 1:41:14Speaker 14: everybody with half a brain can tell that we've got
- 1:41:16Speaker 14: a problem. I really think we need to honestly look
- 1:41:19Speaker 14: into shutting these programs down so we can figure out
- 1:41:22Speaker 14: exactly what's happening with this money because we spend a
- 1:41:24Speaker 14: billion dollars on these programs at the state level every year.
- 1:41:27Speaker 14: Medicaid is half of our budget, and we're just letting people,
- 1:41:30Speaker 14: in many cases people who are not even from this
- 1:41:32Speaker 14: country or shouldn't even be here, pocket hundreds of millions
- 1:41:35Speaker 14: of dollars. of our Medicaid funds. And I think those
- 1:41:38Speaker 14: are the sorts of things we need to act on
- 1:41:40Speaker 14: to give people a reason to show up to vote
- 1:41:42Speaker 14: for us.
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: Absolutely, and protect their tax dollars. I would say one
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: of the most important things, I think Dave Thomas does
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: a great job, is informing people all that you've done
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: for them. I mean, everybody will benefit from the changes
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: made in the increases of the re-evaluations being capped at
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: the inflation rate instead of 20 or 30 percent. If
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: it wasn't for the Republicans, that wouldn't have happened, Tex.
- 1:42:06Speaker 6: Oh, 100%.
- 1:42:07Speaker 14: Look, and we were fortunate to get a little bit
- 1:42:09Speaker 14: of bipartisan support on some of those bills, but again,
- 1:42:12Speaker 14: a vast majority of those bills were passed with Republican support.
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: Stand by for a second. Stand by, Tex. Just hang
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: in there, Tex. Back with Tex Fisher and G2 in
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: a minute, so stay tuned.
- 1:42:25Speaker 9: News Radio 570. WKVN.
- 1:42:27Speaker 8: WKVN.
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: Back to it. Sir Ron Ferb with G2 on News
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: Radio 570. WKVN and Tex Fisher. Part of the problem
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: is I just think it's the low information voter tax.
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: I mean, if you take a look at who's launching
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: the campaign to deal with the property tax issue, forget
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: the let's just set aside the constitutional amendment because the
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: Republicans are saying, here's what we're doing. You know, Dave
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: Thomas coming up with legislation, you guys supporting it, backing
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: it and championing it. that has benefited everyone out there,
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: Democrats or Republicans. And if it wasn't for the Republicans,
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: none of that would be happening.
- 1:43:03Speaker 8: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:43:04Speaker 14: I think it's pretty clear on the property tax issue, too,
- 1:43:07Speaker 14: is we've got one side that likes to talk about it,
- 1:43:09Speaker 14: but every substantial, meaningful solution that gets proposed, they tend
- 1:43:13Speaker 14: to be universally no votes on. And I think that's
- 1:43:17Speaker 14: the tough part is We do have to get the
- 1:43:20Speaker 14: word out there about the good things that we've done,
- 1:43:23Speaker 14: but I also think that we can't get to a
- 1:43:25Speaker 14: position where we're just patting ourselves on the back pretending
- 1:43:27Speaker 14: we've solved an issue or issues that we haven't solved yet.
- 1:43:30Speaker 6: We need to be.
- 1:43:30Speaker 14: Playing offense constantly the rest of this year and really
- 1:43:33Speaker 14: in perpetuity. I think that's the biggest problem the Republican
- 1:43:36Speaker 14: Party has had in my lifetime is really up until
- 1:43:39Speaker 14: Trump came along, it was a lot of us... sitting
- 1:43:41Speaker 14: around and saying, oh, woe is me, we didn't win,
- 1:43:44Speaker 14: and then not actually doing anything about it, not taking
- 1:43:46Speaker 14: the fight to the left and tackling these issues and
- 1:43:48Speaker 14: letting the Democrats run around and tell all sorts of
- 1:43:52Speaker 14: lies about what's going on and the way these things
- 1:43:54Speaker 14: actually work. And we need to go on offense, and
- 1:43:57Speaker 14: I think we need to do a whole lot.
- 1:43:58Speaker 7: More of that.
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: Now, you mentioned about DeWine and good riddance to him.
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: and all of this fraud that's going on. When you
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: take a look at this fraud with the Somalis or
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: Medicare or Medicaid fraud that's going on, you're talking a
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: substantial amount of our budgets. And what is his problem?
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: Why would you be pro-fraud? Why would he not want
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: this dealt with and looked into when people prosecuted and
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: this stopped? I mean, what's your read?
- 1:44:30Speaker 14: Yeah, I think the governor is generally somebody who doesn't
- 1:44:33Speaker 14: like a lot of change. And, you know, he's been
- 1:44:35Speaker 14: around for a long time. And, you know, he's done
- 1:44:38Speaker 14: a lot of things I'd give him credit for. But
- 1:44:40Speaker 14: I think generally at this point in his career, he
- 1:44:42Speaker 14: doesn't want to do anything aggressive and doesn't want to
- 1:44:44Speaker 14: change things. And, you know, maybe there's an element of
- 1:44:47Speaker 14: massive fraud happening under his watch that maybe makes him
- 1:44:50Speaker 14: feel like, you know, how dare you say that?
- 1:44:53Speaker 6: Everything's fine.
- 1:44:55Speaker 14: You know, go look at this. Go do something else
- 1:44:58Speaker 14: sort of a thing. So I think... I don't have
- 1:45:01Speaker 14: an answer as to why. I think I hear even
- 1:45:04Speaker 14: whispers about this. When we first saw the issues happening
- 1:45:06Speaker 14: in Minnesota, I immediately started working on a letter from
- 1:45:10Speaker 14: our colleagues to try to ask the Auditor of State
- 1:45:12Speaker 14: to look into some of these programs because we have
- 1:45:13Speaker 14: the exact same programs in Ohio. We have the second
- 1:45:16Speaker 14: largest Somali population of any state in the country, and
- 1:45:20Speaker 14: it's pretty clear the same sort of things are happening
- 1:45:22Speaker 14: here because we have these mountains of money that we
- 1:45:24Speaker 14: just give away for people to essentially sit at home
- 1:45:26Speaker 14: with their relatives, and it's a really nice Thought and concept,
- 1:45:29Speaker 14: I'm sure it does help some people, but when you're
- 1:45:31Speaker 14: throwing a billion dollars at a program to pay people
- 1:45:33Speaker 14: to sit at home with their elderly relatives, you're just
- 1:45:36Speaker 14: creating a magnet for fraud. And pretending the issue doesn't
- 1:45:39Speaker 14: exist because you might not want to deal with it
- 1:45:41Speaker 14: or it might make you look bad is just governance.
- 1:45:43Speaker 14: That's not what we're here for. We're not here to
- 1:45:45Speaker 14: make ourselves look good. We're here to be good stewards
- 1:45:47Speaker 14: of the taxpayer dollars. That's generally why people... And I
- 1:45:51Speaker 14: think we have made a– the administration has made a
- 1:45:54Speaker 14: mistake in trying to downplay these concerns and insist that
- 1:45:57Speaker 14: these safeguards are in place and these safeguards exist and
- 1:45:59Speaker 14: nothing bad can ever happen. When, you know, they said
- 1:46:02Speaker 14: they had safeguards in place in Minnesota, too, and we're
- 1:46:04Speaker 14: talking about $ 10 billion of fraud in Minnesota. We're just
- 1:46:07Speaker 14: beginning to scratch the surface of what's going on here
- 1:46:09Speaker 14: in Ohio because we're a bigger state.
- 1:46:11Speaker 6: We spend more.
- 1:46:11Speaker 8: We have more people.
- 1:46:13Speaker 14: The likelihood that our fraud is significantly less than what
- 1:46:16Speaker 14: went on in Minnesota when we have the same programs,
- 1:46:18Speaker 14: the same demographics, and the same types of problems we're
- 1:46:20Speaker 14: already uncovering is very.
- 1:46:22Speaker 7: Very low.
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: When do you think it'll be looked into or dealt with,
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: or are you anticipating anything happening?
- 1:46:31Speaker 14: Yeah, I mean, we're going back into session next week.
- 1:46:34Speaker 14: Another one of my colleagues has been working on this
- 1:46:36Speaker 14: Medicaid fraud issue for over a year.
- 1:46:40Speaker 8: And we're going to be very, very busy.
- 1:46:41Speaker 14: I've already talked to the chair of the Medicaid committee.
- 1:46:44Speaker 14: She's planning on hauling people in for testimony to try
- 1:46:46Speaker 14: to figure out what's going on. And I think, again,
- 1:46:48Speaker 14: we need to start doing more enforcement. And I don't
- 1:46:51Speaker 14: think that pausing these programs entirely should be off the table.
- 1:46:53Speaker 14: Because if we're Just some of the things that I've
- 1:46:56Speaker 14: read in the past couple days alone, I really do
- 1:46:58Speaker 14: think the smartest course of action would be to pause
- 1:47:00Speaker 14: these programs entirely until we can figure out where this
- 1:47:02Speaker 14: money's been going. Because there are people that do need
- 1:47:05Speaker 14: these programs. There are people that need the support. But
- 1:47:08Speaker 14: if we're letting all these people basically steal from us
- 1:47:10Speaker 14: to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars, we've
- 1:47:14Speaker 14: got to stop it. We have an obligation to the taxpayers.
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: Where was the auditor when all of this was going on?
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: Is that a fair question to ask, even though he's
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: a Republican?
- 1:47:22Speaker 14: Yeah, it's a fair question to ask. And by law,
- 1:47:25Speaker 14: the auditor has to audit state agencies every five years. Now,
- 1:47:30Speaker 14: the specific programs within those I think a lot of
- 1:47:34Speaker 14: these issues elevate to the level of a criminal investigation,
- 1:47:38Speaker 14: and that's something that I've been in contact with the
- 1:47:40Speaker 14: Attorney General's office on. There is a process, but as
- 1:47:43Speaker 14: it is when you're dealing with all these different offices
- 1:47:45Speaker 14: and government in general, it's a lot of, well, we
- 1:47:48Speaker 14: don't have the right jurisdiction to do this, so you've
- 1:47:50Speaker 14: got to talk to these people first. You kind of
- 1:47:51Speaker 14: get the runaround, intentional or not. And it becomes very difficult,
- 1:47:55Speaker 14: and it's frustrating.
- 1:47:56Speaker 7: And that's why I.
- 1:47:57Speaker 14: Think ultimately we're going to need a legislative solution to
- 1:48:00Speaker 14: either give direct power to the auditor to initiate audits
- 1:48:03Speaker 14: of these programs or try to get the, you know,
- 1:48:06Speaker 14: we're going to be having a new attorney general here soon.
- 1:48:08Speaker 14: I know that was a surprise to myself and a
- 1:48:10Speaker 14: whole bunch of people. But what matters to me is
- 1:48:13Speaker 14: whoever the governor appoints to be the attorney general for
- 1:48:16Speaker 14: the rest of this year, I think they need to
- 1:48:17Speaker 14: make this their number one priority.
- 1:48:19Speaker 7: Right, Chuck.
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: Mean, you're talking about..
- 1:48:21Speaker 7: You can't just run around for these agencies.
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: Yost, the current attorney general, resigns to go into the
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: private sector today in some type of Christian organization, and
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: he's going in that direction. It's led to believe that
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: the guy that's running for office potentially might... get appointed
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: the Republican that won the primary to be the next
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: attorney general. But it doesn't matter that we've got to
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: get to the bottom of this fraud. This money could
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: be used to offset any number of problems that people
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: have with school funding or who knows what, where it
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: could be used to ease our property tax burden. But
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: you guys got to get the message out on everything
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: that's been done. I mean, I think there's not a
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: better person than Dave Thomas who comes on and talks
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: about it on a daily basis on what he's done.
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: It's benefited everybody listening. And what about the local government fund?
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: The criticism that I hear from local politicians is how
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: the local government fund has just been raided over the years,
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: and they're not getting enough of their money, our tax dollars,
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: back to the local government. What are your thoughts?
- 1:49:26Speaker 14: Yeah, and I think the local government fund was particularly
- 1:49:29Speaker 14: under John Kasich. At this point, about 15 years ago,
- 1:49:33Speaker 14: when he was trying to cover a large budget deficit,
- 1:49:36Speaker 14: and it has over time, it has increased. Now, I
- 1:49:39Speaker 14: understand a lot of these local communities feel.
- 1:49:42Speaker 6: That it's not enough, and I get that.
- 1:49:43Speaker 14: I think we do need to invest more in local communities,
- 1:49:46Speaker 14: but I think we need to use... I think we
- 1:49:48Speaker 14: need to use these dollars to incentivize consolidation of services,
- 1:49:52Speaker 14: shared service contracts. Essentially, we need to use extra dollars,
- 1:49:56Speaker 14: and I've worked on a budget amendment for this, actually,
- 1:49:59Speaker 14: to create a fund to incentivize these communities and local
- 1:50:02Speaker 14: governments to share equipment, share services, and consolidate some of
- 1:50:05Speaker 14: these duplicitous functions and programs when necessary. I think the
- 1:50:10Speaker 14: biggest problem we see at local, really government at every level,
- 1:50:12Speaker 14: but specifically in Ohio local government, there's a lot of
- 1:50:15Speaker 14: duplication of services. You've got too many layers, too many
- 1:50:18Speaker 14: taxing jurisdictions. Everybody has their own little fiefdom, and nobody
- 1:50:21Speaker 14: wants to change that. And I think the spending has
- 1:50:24Speaker 14: really what's driven this property tax crisis. And I'm all
- 1:50:27Speaker 14: for investing more in our communities, but I think we
- 1:50:29Speaker 14: need to tie it to... the types of behaviors that
- 1:50:32Speaker 14: we all agree need to happen but are politically difficult
- 1:50:34Speaker 14: or people just simply don't want to do. So that's
- 1:50:38Speaker 14: my approach and my take on that is give them
- 1:50:40Speaker 14: more money, but we've got to incentivize them to be
- 1:50:41Speaker 14: more efficient.
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: Absolutely. All right, TexG2, any comments?
- 1:50:48Speaker 11: I think you touched a minute on the auditor, and
- 1:50:50Speaker 11: in a normal financial audit, you're not going to find
- 1:50:52Speaker 11: this kind of fraud. They're just looking at how the
- 1:50:54Speaker 11: numbers flow, is everything properly approved. This goes to another
- 1:50:57Speaker 11: level where somebody involved in this system, some of the
- 1:51:01Speaker 11: millions of people involved across this country in state, local,
- 1:51:04Speaker 11: and national government should have said, wait a minute, I
- 1:51:07Speaker 11: know there can't be a mail-in checks 100 times to
- 1:51:09Speaker 11: the same address. that can't be right. At some level,
- 1:51:13Speaker 11: there had to be somebody that raised their hand and said,
- 1:51:15Speaker 11: here's a problem, or the auditor's office has to really
- 1:51:19Speaker 11: increase its capabilities to identify red flags that indicate fraud,
- 1:51:25Speaker 11: fraud indicators. And so this is a really significant systemic
- 1:51:29Speaker 11: thing that has to happen. It's just not enough that
- 1:51:32Speaker 11: the auditor is saying, hey, You know, your numbers foot,
- 1:51:35Speaker 11: your balance sheet and income statement are correct and properly
- 1:51:38Speaker 11: presented in compliance with the regulations. They have to develop
- 1:51:42Speaker 11: a fraud detection capability that is obviously missing. And I think,
- 1:51:47Speaker 11: at least in Minnesota, intentionally so.
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: Right. And go out to these places to see what's
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: going on. Because, Tex, could you be talking billions of
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: dollars in Ohio?
- 1:51:58Speaker 14: Oh, over the past, I mean, the growth and the
- 1:52:00Speaker 14: spending of these programs since 2020 has been astronomical. So, yes,
- 1:52:04Speaker 14: I would not all be surprised if we're talking billions
- 1:52:06Speaker 14: of dollars. And this is not even your typical standard
- 1:52:09Speaker 14: Medicaid fraud, which existed for a long time. This is
- 1:52:11Speaker 14: a totally new grift, essentially, that has been set up
- 1:52:16Speaker 14: with the expansion of these.
- 1:52:17Speaker 7: Programs after and during the pandemic.
- 1:52:19Speaker 14: And I think G2 is spot on. I absolutely think
- 1:52:22Speaker 14: that the state of Ohio needs the... utilize technology better.
- 1:52:26Speaker 14: I mean, this is not difficult. This is not complex.
- 1:52:29Speaker 14: There are so many programs and the technology already exists
- 1:52:32Speaker 14: for this sort of a thing. We should have a
- 1:52:34Speaker 14: robust system in the state of Ohio across every agency
- 1:52:37Speaker 14: and every agency to flag these things.
- 1:52:38Speaker 4: Again, this is not difficult.
- 1:52:39Speaker 14: The technology exists. And that's, you know, getting really into
- 1:52:43Speaker 14: the weeds. We've got all sorts of problems at the
- 1:52:44Speaker 14: state level with technology procurement. We're giving Microsoft these no-bid
- 1:52:48Speaker 14: contracts they can figure every year, never put them out
- 1:52:50Speaker 14: for bid and spending hundreds of millions of dollars on
- 1:52:53Speaker 14: duplicitous IT services when we could be using technology to
- 1:52:57Speaker 14: save money and better enhance the user and constituent experience
- 1:53:00Speaker 14: with government. And we're just not doing it because people
- 1:53:02Speaker 14: don't want to be bothered because it might be a
- 1:53:03Speaker 14: whole lot of work to set it up. But, again,
- 1:53:06Speaker 14: we can't let the bureaucrats make excuses. We have to
- 1:53:09Speaker 14: force them to do things because.
- 1:53:10Speaker 6: That's our job.
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: Well said.
- 1:53:13Speaker 11: And I think there's an additional problem, which is that
- 1:53:15Speaker 11: you're right. Some of them just don't want to be bothered.
- 1:53:17Speaker 11: Some of them are just drones doing their job. I'm
- 1:53:19Speaker 11: told to add these six numbers. I don't care where
- 1:53:22Speaker 11: they come from. But I think inside this monstrous machine
- 1:53:25Speaker 11: of government, there is a huge nefarious element that is
- 1:53:28Speaker 11: intentionally stealing billions, knowing that no one is looking and
- 1:53:32Speaker 11: that they could just keep pumping the money out. And
- 1:53:34Speaker 11: they've been successful for decades.
- 1:53:37Speaker 13: Yep.
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: Absolutely. All right, Tex, we're going to have you on
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: again more frequently. That's our goal. So stay tuned for
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: that to happen. All right?
- 1:53:47Speaker 8: All right.
- 1:53:49Speaker 10: Thanks, guys.
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: Appreciate it.
- 1:53:50Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: That's Tex Fisher on News Radio 570 WQEN. And with G2,
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: wait a second.
- 1:53:57Speaker 14: You're on the air.
- 1:54:00Speaker 10: Hello?
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: Yes, go ahead.
- 1:54:02Speaker 10: Hi, this is Christine Oliver.
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: Hi, Christine Oliver.
- 1:54:05Speaker 4: Congratulations.
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: Congratulations.
- 1:54:07Speaker 10: Thank you very much. I really appreciate that.
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: And a good campaign. And it seemed to me that
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: when this was going on, you were pretty confident that
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: you would be victorious. And it worked out the way
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: you thought it would. Now, onward to the general, right?
- 1:54:26Speaker 24: Yes.
- 1:54:26Speaker 14: Yes.
- 1:54:27Speaker 10: Really hard work. Yes, absolutely. And I am looking forward
- 1:54:32Speaker 10: to winning that seat in November. And me and my
- 1:54:36Speaker 10: team is going to continue to work even harder than
- 1:54:40Speaker 10: we already did. But I'm really excited. And I really
- 1:54:43Speaker 10: would like to thank all the people who supported me
- 1:54:46Speaker 10: and believed in me, because I wouldn't have won without
- 1:54:49Speaker 10: all of them. And I really appreciate everyone.
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: I really think a large part of the reason why
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: you won is not just a great campaign and you're
- 1:54:58Speaker 1: You know, your efforts, I mean, when you speak of
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: some of the things that have happened to your mother,
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: which are horrific, and when you talk about the... what
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: you've done over the years for backing the blue, all
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: volunteer stuff, I think makes it makes a big impact.
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: But I think two of the most important things was your,
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: there was no gray area. It wasn't cloudy at all.
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: Here's where I stand on these two issues, the homestead
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: exemption and doubling the only occupancy. There wasn't any cloudy
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: issue there. You said, this is what I'm going to do.
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: And if I'm elected, this is what I'm going to champion.
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: I think those were game changers for you. Would you agree?
- 1:55:38Speaker 10: Yes, and also I think another game changer is the
- 1:55:41Speaker 10: fact that I ran my campaign and I did not
- 1:55:45Speaker 10: do anything negative. I just worked and went towards what's
- 1:55:49Speaker 10: important for our voters, you know, for our taxpayers, and
- 1:55:53Speaker 10: I definitely am going to champion for them not only
- 1:55:56Speaker 10: with the property taxes, but also, like I said before,
- 1:56:00Speaker 10: protecting seniors because of my personal experience and helping to
- 1:56:04Speaker 10: make sure our loved ones are safe.
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: Years ago, we had an unspudsman, I thought, in Mahoning County.
- 1:56:12Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of what his name was that
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: actually went around to these nursing homes. I don't even
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: know if that position is still in county government, but
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: it was actually somebody that was actively involved if families
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: had an issue or a complaint or inspecting some of
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: these places. If that doesn't exist, it certainly should be
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: brought back.
- 1:56:30Speaker 10: It's interesting that you say that because that's one of
- 1:56:33Speaker 10: the things I did not speak of in my campaign.
- 1:56:36Speaker 10: But there's like a state person, but I did tell
- 1:56:40Speaker 10: the other two commissioners, Anthony Traficani and Gino DeFabio, that
- 1:56:46Speaker 10: is one of my goals is for us to have
- 1:56:49Speaker 10: a local ombudsman to help take care of the families
- 1:56:53Speaker 10: and their loved ones. So that is absolutely something I'm
- 1:56:56Speaker 10: going to champion for.
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: Right, so that if you've got a problem or an
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: issue or a complaint, you can call that particular person.
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: Or perhaps they can do some random inspections too.
- 1:57:07Speaker 10: That's exactly what I'm hoping for because that's unfortunately what
- 1:57:11Speaker 10: I discovered during the time when I went through this
- 1:57:14Speaker 10: with my mother is that It's like a planned thing.
- 1:57:20Speaker 10: People know you're coming. And that's not going to help
- 1:57:23Speaker 10: protect the people we care about. If they're planning for
- 1:57:26Speaker 10: you to appear, you just have to show up.
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: Absolutely. I mean, it is definitely an area that needs
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: to be addressed. I mean, it's going to– do you think– well,
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: you ran an excellent campaign. Thank you. And when the
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: dust settled, it really wasn't even close. I mean, were
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: you surprised by the margin of victory? I.
- 1:57:48Speaker 10: Well, my consultant thought it was going to be like
- 1:57:52Speaker 10: within 5%, and he was extremely thrilled that it was
- 1:57:55Speaker 10: over 10%.
- 1:57:57Speaker 7: I was very happy.
- 1:57:59Speaker 10: I was not surprised by the third-place person, the margin
- 1:58:03Speaker 10: of difference at all, because of what I saw happening
- 1:58:06Speaker 10: during the campaign. But, yes, I did feel... that the
- 1:58:12Speaker 10: other one was going to be more of a challenge
- 1:58:14Speaker 10: because of being in the township. But I was really
- 1:58:17Speaker 10: surprised at how well I actually did in Austintown Township too.
- 1:58:21Speaker 10: So we just, you know, we worked hard and we
- 1:58:24Speaker 10: believe in what we're I believe in what I'm running on,
- 1:58:28Speaker 10: and I am a fighter. I'm one of those people
- 1:58:31Speaker 10: that I want to make a difference. And like you
- 1:58:33Speaker 10: said about Back to Blue, that is my baby. This
- 1:58:36Speaker 10: year will be number seven, and we are going to
- 1:58:39Speaker 10: be dedicating it this year to Trooper Caton's family, specifically
- 1:58:44Speaker 10: on the green, and donate that money to the scholarship
- 1:58:48Speaker 10: that they have set up for Trooper Caton. So we're
- 1:58:51Speaker 10: looking forward to that, too. Oh, and here's the really
- 1:58:54Speaker 10: cool part about this year. John Kufleitner is going to
- 1:58:59Speaker 10: put on the largest car show the Mahoney Valley has
- 1:59:02Speaker 10: ever seen for our Back the Blue fundraiser.
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: Excellent. Excellent. You know, I think the downfall of the
- 1:59:10Speaker 1: Shepis campaign was he wouldn't take a stand on either
- 1:59:13Speaker 1: of those two vital issues to say, I think the
- 1:59:16Speaker 1: taxpayers come first. And I think that was a major
- 1:59:19Speaker 1: fault of his. It's where you excelled and where he failed.
- 1:59:24Speaker 1: I never, in the whole scope of things, I never
- 1:59:27Speaker 1: thought there were, in the three-person race, I thought, in
- 1:59:30Speaker 1: my opinion, it was basically a two-person race, as far
- 1:59:33Speaker 1: as I was concerned.
- 1:59:34Speaker 10: I did, too. In fact, we ran our campaign as
- 1:59:38Speaker 10: if it were a two-person race.
- 1:59:40Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:59:40Speaker 1: Now, here's the key question before I go. What was
- 1:59:44Speaker 1: it like meeting Ted the Conservative?
- 1:59:47Speaker 14: Oh, my gosh.
- 1:59:47Speaker 10: I got to tell you how that happened. So we
- 1:59:51Speaker 10: we knocked on a lot of doors, went out and
- 1:59:53Speaker 10: met the people. And young Dylan, who was one school
- 1:59:59Speaker 10: board position in Columbiana at the age of 21. He's
- 2:00:02Speaker 10: an amazing young man. And we went out to the
- 2:00:05Speaker 10: outer skirts of Mahoning County, which is actually, you know, Columbiana.
- 2:00:09Speaker 10: And as some people thought that I didn't know where
- 2:00:12Speaker 10: Mahoning County was, well, it's there. And so we're knocking
- 2:00:15Speaker 10: on all these doors. And I go to this one
- 2:00:17Speaker 10: door and this lady says to me, she knew me.
- 2:00:19Speaker 10: She had moved from Kansas. She gives me a big hug.
- 2:00:21Speaker 10: She was excited to see me. She said, we've already
- 2:00:24Speaker 10: voted for you. And then she goes, you see that
- 2:00:26Speaker 10: man right there? She goes, he's a huge conservative. He's
- 2:00:30Speaker 10: on the 570 show all the time.
- 2:00:32Speaker 7: That's Ted.
- 2:00:33Speaker 10: And I went, what?
- 2:00:34Speaker 7: Stand by.
- 2:00:35Speaker 1: Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Christine, hang on. I've
- 2:00:38Speaker 1: got to do my break-in and finish the story, all right?
- 2:00:40Speaker 1: Hang on. Back with Christine Oliver in G2 in a minute.
- 2:00:47Speaker 1: All right, with G2. All right, Christine Oliver, so you're
- 2:00:51Speaker 1: knocking on doors in Columbiana, and what happens?
- 2:00:54Speaker 10: So I knock on this one door.
- 2:00:56Speaker 8: She knew me.
- 2:00:57Speaker 10: She's talking to me, and she says... Do you see
- 2:01:00Speaker 10: that guy over there? He's a huge conservative. He fills
- 2:01:03Speaker 10: in on the 570 show.
- 2:01:05Speaker 8: His name is Ted.
- 2:01:06Speaker 10: And I'm like, no way. Oh, my gosh, you're kidding me.
- 2:01:10Speaker 10: So I'm like, hi, Ted. And then I go running
- 2:01:14Speaker 10: over there. And he felt so bad. He was apologizing
- 2:01:17Speaker 10: because he was on his way to the doctor for
- 2:01:19Speaker 10: his leg. And I'm like, no, Ted. I said, I,
- 2:01:22Speaker 10: of all people, know you need to go take care
- 2:01:25Speaker 10: of that wound on your leg, please. And so eventually
- 2:01:29Speaker 10: I was able to invite him to come to our
- 2:01:32Speaker 10: watch party, which was at the Bellary in Canfield. And
- 2:01:36Speaker 10: everyone was so excited when he showed up. It was
- 2:01:38Speaker 10: like the local celebrity. Everyone was thrilled to finally know
- 2:01:43Speaker 10: and meet Ted the Conservative. He's a great person.
- 2:01:46Speaker 1: He really is. He's a great guy.
- 2:01:48Speaker 10: I think he's wonderful.
- 2:01:50Speaker 1: He is a wonderful guy and a great guy, and
- 2:01:53Speaker 1: he's got great political insights. Well, congratulations, Kia. Call us
- 2:01:58Speaker 1: now that the election's over. Let us know how things
- 2:02:00Speaker 1: are going, and stay in touch here on the air
- 2:02:02Speaker 1: with us.
- 2:02:03Speaker 10: I sure will. Thank you, and have a great weekend.
- 2:02:05Speaker 1: Congratulations, Christine Oliver.
- 2:02:07Speaker 15: Thank you again.
- 2:02:08Speaker 1: All right, so successful. How about that, G2?
- 2:02:12Speaker 11: Well, she ran a great campaign. She ran on real issues. And,
- 2:02:15Speaker 11: you know, there are three specific issues.
- 2:02:17Speaker 4: That I think I'd like to see her focus on.
- 2:02:19Speaker 11: One is this property taxes. She's got to drive those down.
- 2:02:23Speaker 11: Promoting economic development without giving away the taxpayers' money is
- 2:02:27Speaker 11: really an important point to take. And then she has
- 2:02:30Speaker 11: a point on her better government. uh, transparency, you know, that,
- 2:02:34Speaker 11: that is mission critical as well. Uh, you know, I'm
- 2:02:38Speaker 11: less concerned about caring for the seniors because I think
- 2:02:40Speaker 11: they get cared for.
- 2:02:41Speaker 1: I think that's a very important issue. And what happened
- 2:02:44Speaker 1: to her mother was horrific in, in care.
- 2:02:47Speaker 4: And I don't know what that is.
- 2:02:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:02:49Speaker 1: I mean, believe me, it is a very important issue because, uh, the,
- 2:02:53Speaker 1: there used to be, and she might be right. Uh,
- 2:02:56Speaker 1: the state guy locally, I forget his name. I, interviewed
- 2:02:59Speaker 1: numerous times that would go around to these facilities to
- 2:03:01Speaker 1: make sure they were all doing what they were supposed
- 2:03:03Speaker 1: to do, or families had somebody to call. I think
- 2:03:07Speaker 1: that's a very vital and important issue.
- 2:03:09Speaker 11: Well, I'm not familiar with what happened with their family,
- 2:03:11Speaker 11: but I hear about caring for the seniors all the
- 2:03:13Speaker 11: time with the property tax and everything.
- 2:03:15Speaker 1: No, no, no. This has to do with..
- 2:03:18Speaker 11: And help us fix this thing.
- 2:03:19Speaker 1: More with monitoring at nursing home facilities. Let's put it
- 2:03:24Speaker 1: that way.
- 2:03:24Speaker 11: Oh, well, that's a different issue. Yeah, this nursing home
- 2:03:26Speaker 11: abuse is out of control. I don't understand... how that's allowed.
- 2:03:30Speaker 11: I mean, that should be the sort of, look, truth
- 2:03:33Speaker 11: be told, the plaintiff's bar ought to be fixing that
- 2:03:35Speaker 11: because they ought to be suing these nursing home administrators
- 2:03:38Speaker 11: into oblivion if they let that happen.
- 2:03:40Speaker 1: Absolutely. All right. You're done with me for now because
- 2:03:43Speaker 1: it's Friday night date night.
- 2:03:46Speaker 11: Well, I've got some.
- 2:03:47Speaker 22: Things to do.
- 2:03:47Speaker 11: So have a great evening. And what an interesting hour
- 2:03:51Speaker 11: this was. We'll chat again next week.
- 2:03:55Speaker 1: Back in the bunker, okay?
- 2:03:57Speaker 24: Yep.
- 2:03:58Speaker 8: Bye-bye.
- 2:03:58Speaker 1: There you go. We'll be back. From ABC News.
- 2:04:08Speaker 16: I'm Mike Dabusky. We're learning some new details about how
- 2:04:10Speaker 16: health authorities plan to handle the arrival of a Dutch
- 2:04:13Speaker 16: cruise vessel in the Canary Islands this weekend. That's the
- 2:04:16Speaker 16: ship at the center of a hantavirus outbreak, which has
- 2:04:19Speaker 16: already killed three people. The 19 Americans on board will
- 2:04:22Speaker 16: be transported to the University of Nebraska Medical Center for quarantine.
- 2:04:26Speaker 1: Dr.
- 2:04:26Speaker 16: John Lowe is the director of the Global Center for
- 2:04:29Speaker 16: Health Security at that hospital.
- 2:04:31Speaker 28: What we've been called on to do is to support
- 2:04:33Speaker 28: the U.S., in bringing back a group of American citizens
- 2:04:38Speaker 28: back to the U.S. safely and to ensure that they're
- 2:04:41Speaker 28: safely monitored.
- 2:04:42Speaker 16: The ship is likely to dock in the Canary Islands
- 2:04:44Speaker 16: sometime midday Sunday. Russia and Ukraine have agreed to exchange
- 2:04:48Speaker 16: a thousand prisoners as part of a new short-term ceasefire.
- 2:04:51Speaker 26: Russia and Ukraine have agreed to this brief three-day ceasefire
- 2:04:54Speaker 26: this weekend. over Russia's Victory Day holiday when Vladimir Putin
- 2:04:59Speaker 26: holds a huge military parade on Moscow's Red Square. The
- 2:05:02Speaker 26: Kremlin was worried Ukraine might attack the parade. After President
- 2:05:06Speaker 26: Trump pressed Ukraine, President Zelenskyy tonight agreed to no attacks
- 2:05:10Speaker 26: on condition that Russia free 1,000 POWs. but there's no
- 2:05:14Speaker 26: reason to believe that Putin will extend the ceasefire after
- 2:05:17Speaker 26: the holiday. Patrick Rievel, ABC News, London.
- 2:05:20Speaker 16: The Labor Department today found the U.S. added 115,000 jobs
- 2:05:24Speaker 16: in April. Here's ABC's Elizabeth Schulze.
- 2:05:26Speaker 19: It is double what the expectation was when it comes
- 2:05:29Speaker 19: to new jobs added. And what we're looking at now
- 2:05:32Speaker 19: is two months in a row of job gains, whereas
- 2:05:35Speaker 19: really up until now for the past year plus, We've
- 2:05:38Speaker 19: seen job gains, job losses, job gains, losses. That was
- 2:05:40Speaker 19: really putting the job market on shaky ground. If we
- 2:05:43Speaker 19: see continuous month of job growth, that is a good sign,
- 2:05:46Speaker 19: even if it's at a lower level than we had
- 2:05:48Speaker 19: been used to.
- 2:05:49Speaker 16: The unemployment rate stayed steady at 4.3 percent. And Virginia
- 2:05:53Speaker 16: now says it's going to appeal a decision from a
- 2:05:55Speaker 16: court today striking down a redistricting referendum that voters approved
- 2:05:59Speaker 16: last month. You're listening to ABC News.
- 2:06:05Speaker 8: WKBN.
- 2:06:06Speaker 1: Well, that was Fast Hour with G2 on NewsRadio 570 WKBN.
- 2:06:10Speaker 1: And it's nice to hear from Tex Fisher. We've got
- 2:06:13Speaker 1: to get him on the program more often and keep
- 2:06:16Speaker 1: in touch with what he's up to. He's got a
- 2:06:18Speaker 1: great score, conservative score. And we'll strive to do that
- 2:06:23Speaker 1: as well as our annual visits, not annual, regular visits
- 2:06:27Speaker 1: with Dave Thomas. And that's all good news there. And
- 2:06:33Speaker 1: Christine Oliver. and her campaign. And we'll try to stay
- 2:06:37Speaker 1: in touch with that as we head towards the general
- 2:06:41Speaker 1: election and hopefully she'll be victorious. And that's news radio five.
- 2:06:44Speaker 1: So anybody come in? Hello there.
- 2:06:47Speaker 4: Well, hello there, Mr.
- 2:06:48Speaker 22: Verb.
- 2:06:50Speaker 7: Why?
- 2:06:50Speaker 1: Hello to you. How are you? I am well.
- 2:06:54Speaker 4: What's a good word today?
- 2:06:56Speaker 3: Friday.
- 2:06:57Speaker 1: You know, anytime you got Friday, Michael is a good, is,
- 2:07:01Speaker 1: is a good day. Listen, I mean, it's a, Guardians
- 2:07:05Speaker 1: at 630. The weekend is here. And I'm just so
- 2:07:09Speaker 1: happy I got another overcast, rainy day with 52 degrees
- 2:07:15Speaker 1: on this May 8th. And I couldn't be happier. You
- 2:07:19Speaker 1: just can't get enough rain. No, no, we have.
- 2:07:24Speaker 24: Up here near you, you've got summer, winter, and mud season.
- 2:07:29Speaker 1: I mean, it's just everything is so saturated. I mean,
- 2:07:32Speaker 1: I've been around a while. You know, they're a young man.
- 2:07:36Speaker 1: But the reality is all this rain, it just keeps
- 2:07:39Speaker 1: pouring and pouring and pouring. I mean, we're not just
- 2:07:41Speaker 1: getting rainfall. We're getting significant inches of rainfall. The ground
- 2:07:45Speaker 1: is so saturated. And just the other night we had
- 2:07:50Speaker 1: another inch. And now today, you know, more showers today
- 2:07:54Speaker 1: and over the weekend and cooler temperatures. The ground just
- 2:07:58Speaker 1: doesn't have a chance to dry. out. It's been kind
- 2:08:01Speaker 1: of one of the wettest springs that I've seen around.
- 2:08:09Speaker 1: I'm hoping for sunnier, better weather at some point.
- 2:08:14Speaker 6: So let's, can.
- 2:08:16Speaker 4: We go back to, I think, Maybe Wednesday.
- 2:08:19Speaker 1: Yes.
- 2:08:20Speaker 24: Because I tried calling Wednesday, and I tried yesterday when
- 2:08:24Speaker 24: you had that brief..
- 2:08:27Speaker 1: Excursion, yes.
- 2:08:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:08:31Speaker 1: You mean after the game. I've got to tell you something, though.
- 2:08:34Speaker 1: I'm glad you brought that point up. I went home
- 2:08:37Speaker 1: last night. We were on yesterday from like 5.40. By
- 2:08:42Speaker 1: the time the Guardians game wrapped up, I had 20
- 2:08:46Speaker 1: minutes before the John Arnold show at 6. And I
- 2:08:49Speaker 1: got to tell you something. When you say you tried
- 2:08:51Speaker 1: calling me, I thoroughly enjoyed talking to every one of
- 2:08:55Speaker 1: those people. Every one of those people that were there
- 2:08:59Speaker 1: for that 20-minute segment. I went home and said to
- 2:09:01Speaker 1: my wife, I really enjoyed that part of the program.
- 2:09:04Speaker 1: But anyway, go ahead.
- 2:09:05Speaker 4: Bunch of quick hitters.
- 2:09:06Speaker 6: Yes.
- 2:09:08Speaker 4: So going back to the lady that said she was
- 2:09:11Speaker 4: a moderate.
- 2:09:12Speaker 1: Yes. Yeah.
- 2:09:14Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 2:09:15Speaker 4: And, you know, I don't this is my question to
- 2:09:18Speaker 4: you is, you know, the Constitution, the state Constitution, which,
- 2:09:24Speaker 4: you know, I don't really care about these things.
- 2:09:27Speaker 24: You know, I don't really care about freedom and liberty
- 2:09:28Speaker 24: and what's right. Is that the state is supposed to,
- 2:09:33Speaker 24: I guess, foot the bill for education?
- 2:09:38Speaker 1: Well, and there's another guy you've got to get on.
- 2:09:40Speaker 4: Pleshnik.
- 2:09:42Speaker 1: Pleshnik, who's a lawyer and tax lawyer and commissioner up
- 2:09:47Speaker 1: in Lake County, he says that if you read the
- 2:09:49Speaker 1: state constitution, they are supposed to fund the local schools.
- 2:09:54Speaker 1: It's not supposed to be on the back of the
- 2:09:58Speaker 1: property tax owner.
- 2:10:00Speaker 24: That's what I want to really talk about. You know,
- 2:10:04Speaker 24: I don't think it should be on the backs of
- 2:10:05Speaker 24: the property taxers. uh, or, you know, using property taxes either.
- 2:10:11Speaker 4: I think that each individual should pay the freight when
- 2:10:15Speaker 4: their kids are in school. And, um, you know, then.
- 2:10:21Speaker 24: You're going to have the, you know, I guess the
- 2:10:24Speaker 24: consumer of services that much closer to, you know, the
- 2:10:29Speaker 24: provider of services. So you'll, you know, by definition, you'll
- 2:10:33Speaker 24: have choice at that time. Um, If we send them,
- 2:10:38Speaker 24: you know, if they would go to the state, imagine
- 2:10:43Speaker 24: what strings would be attached to that money that would
- 2:10:47Speaker 24: come back. You know, I mean, Ohio's not a bad state, really.
- 2:10:54Speaker 24: But think about it like if it was like this
- 2:10:57Speaker 24: lunatic over here in PA, okay, or out in California or,
- 2:11:04Speaker 24: you know.
- 2:11:04Speaker 4: Even Virginia with Spanberger. What kind of stuff are they.
- 2:11:09Speaker 24: Going to.
- 2:11:12Speaker 4: Have you teaching your kids, have the public schools teaching
- 2:11:17Speaker 4: the kids if they're in complete control of it, as
- 2:11:21Speaker 4: they almost are right now? So I completely disagree with
- 2:11:27Speaker 4: the state funding schools and faculties.
- 2:11:30Speaker 1: But keep in mind, just before you go on, whenever
- 2:11:34Speaker 1: we talk about the state funding it, these are your
- 2:11:37Speaker 1: tax dollars at the state level. It isn't their money.
- 2:11:40Speaker 1: So when they're sending the money back, his argument was
- 2:11:45Speaker 1: the state has, let's say, $ 80 billion. I think 45
- 2:11:48Speaker 1: of it goes to... Medicaid.
- 2:11:54Speaker 4: Medicare or whatever.
- 2:11:55Speaker 1: Not Medicare. Medicare is for the elderly. Medicaid for the poor.
- 2:11:57Speaker 4: Medicaid.
- 2:12:13Speaker 1: When it comes to that program, I mean, when we
- 2:12:16Speaker 1: look at Minnesota and these places and say, wait, the
- 2:12:18Speaker 1: leering centers and the hospice stuff, and while we have
- 2:12:22Speaker 1: a lot of folks that are pulling those same shenanigans here,
- 2:12:27Speaker 1: and when I asked Tex Fisher last hour, are we
- 2:12:30Speaker 1: talking billions, and he said yes, well, let's start with
- 2:12:34Speaker 1: how much of our money on a yearly basis is
- 2:12:37Speaker 1: being stolen and wasted right off the bat. I mean,
- 2:12:41Speaker 1: this is unacceptable. And where have the attorney generals been?
- 2:12:45Speaker 1: Where's the governor? Where's the oversight? So this should have
- 2:12:48Speaker 1: never happened. So it needs to stop because if we
- 2:12:52Speaker 1: stop that money, now we have additional money in our
- 2:12:54Speaker 1: state budget that could go to funding our more going
- 2:12:58Speaker 1: to the local government fund, more going to fund our schools. Yeah,
- 2:13:02Speaker 1: go ahead.
- 2:13:04Speaker 4: Well, that's a good point.
- 2:13:06Speaker 24: But in the end, whether the money is being stolen
- 2:13:09Speaker 24: and used poorly or they decide they're going to pay
- 2:13:15Speaker 24: for something else with it, you know, the state, that
- 2:13:19Speaker 24: doesn't reduce your tax burden. That just reallocates where the
- 2:13:23Speaker 24: money is going. And I'm not, believe me, I'm not
- 2:13:27Speaker 24: advocating for for the, you know, to let them keep
- 2:13:31Speaker 24: on stealing. I'm advocating for, you know, you keep more
- 2:13:35Speaker 24: of your money and make the state and the local
- 2:13:40Speaker 24: governments beg you.
- 2:13:42Speaker 1: To pay for more.
- 2:13:43Speaker 24: This, you know, every year we're, you know, they're voting
- 2:13:48Speaker 24: on a tax increase or a decrease or something like that.
- 2:13:51Speaker 24: They should be voting on, you know, here's the program
- 2:13:56Speaker 24: and can we fund it or not? Because You know,
- 2:13:59Speaker 24: the productive segment of society.
- 2:14:03Speaker 4: Wants to do this. Now, I just think that, you know,
- 2:14:09Speaker 4: she was talking about, you know, some of the private schools.
- 2:14:12Speaker 4: I think the private schools do a better job of educating.
- 2:14:16Speaker 4: And I don't care what the reasons are. you know,
- 2:14:19Speaker 4: that they can come up with, whether they, you know, oh,
- 2:14:21Speaker 4: we have to take this student and they've got to
- 2:14:24Speaker 4: be in this class. You know, the public school systems
- 2:14:27Speaker 4: have done everything to themselves by not policing what they do,
- 2:14:34Speaker 4: which really, it turns out that any government program ends up,
- 2:14:41Speaker 4: you know, being a kind of a black hole for money.
- 2:14:45Speaker 4: They always end up with some inefficiency that nobody cares.
- 2:14:50Speaker 24: As you and G2 were talking before, nobody cares to
- 2:14:55Speaker 24: look into where's the money going. You don't really need
- 2:15:00Speaker 24: another ombudsman. And the great point is that G2 made
- 2:15:08Speaker 24: on these senior centers This is a job for the lawyers.
- 2:15:14Speaker 24: If somebody is getting, you know, whatever, you.
- 2:15:19Speaker 22: Know, they're.
- 2:15:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I get what you're saying. But the thing that
- 2:15:25Speaker 1: the inspector can do, like. they have them at hospitals,
- 2:15:30Speaker 1: is try to prevent it from happening in the first
- 2:15:32Speaker 1: place so that you don't have to get a lawyer
- 2:15:36Speaker 1: in suit.
- 2:15:36Speaker 4: They'll believe themselves if they lose some lawsuits.
- 2:15:39Speaker 24: These are internal functions. The government doesn't do a great
- 2:15:44Speaker 24: job of it.
- 2:15:45Speaker 1: I don't know if that's the case, though, Mike, because
- 2:15:50Speaker 1: I would say to you, In too many cases, take
- 2:15:54Speaker 1: a look at hospitals where they're top-heavy with administration and
- 2:15:58Speaker 1: a lot of positions that aren't as necessary and still
- 2:16:02Speaker 1: continue to be where they cut at the bedside and
- 2:16:05Speaker 1: the nurses. Sure. So the people that actually do the care.
- 2:16:09Speaker 1: I'm not a big fan to say, oh, these companies
- 2:16:12Speaker 1: will police themselves. But if there's more of them, they will. Well,
- 2:16:18Speaker 1: not necessarily like. You know, nursing homes really grossly underpay.
- 2:16:23Speaker 1: And I do mean underpay the people who work there.
- 2:16:25Speaker 1: Their patient load is ridiculous. They're understaffed. They underpay the
- 2:16:30Speaker 1: people that are there. And they charge the user that's
- 2:16:36Speaker 1: the patient there huge money. Per month to be there. Well,
- 2:16:41Speaker 1: something doesn't add up. You're paying a fortune. It can
- 2:16:44Speaker 1: bankrupt you very quickly. And, you know, whether it's Medicare
- 2:16:48Speaker 1: in the beginning or Medicaid at the end or your
- 2:16:50Speaker 1: own personal finances in between, you can lose everything. And
- 2:16:56Speaker 1: then you go there and you still don't have enough help.
- 2:16:59Speaker 1: And the people are overwhelmed.
- 2:17:02Speaker 4: This..
- 2:17:03Speaker 1: This has got to be dealt with.
- 2:17:05Speaker 24: I understand what you're saying, Ron. If they're paying so
- 2:17:09Speaker 24: much money to go there, then why isn't the care there?
- 2:17:13Speaker 4: You've got to find out where.
- 2:17:15Speaker 1: The dollars are going.
- 2:17:16Speaker 24: If it's in the white-collar overhead, then I think as
- 2:17:22Speaker 24: a consumer, you've got to find a nursing home that
- 2:17:28Speaker 24: their model better meets your needs.
- 2:17:32Speaker 4: The problem is that all this stuff is just really
- 2:17:37Speaker 4: regulated by the government. So why isn't it perfect? You know,
- 2:17:41Speaker 4: it goes back to kind of the schools.
- 2:17:45Speaker 24: We need more money. Well, you've got more money, but
- 2:17:47Speaker 24: we need more money to solve this. It just seems
- 2:17:50Speaker 24: that everything that the government, you know, tries to get
- 2:17:56Speaker 24: involved and involved within and, you know, directed towards a
- 2:18:01Speaker 24: certain outcome continually costs more and more. Meanwhile, the product
- 2:18:07Speaker 24: gets worse and worse. I mean, since Jimmy.
- 2:18:11Speaker 4: Carter created the Department of Education, we went from a
- 2:18:16Speaker 4: country that had probably the best educational system in the
- 2:18:22Speaker 4: world to having probably one of the worst, if not
- 2:18:28Speaker 4: the worst, in the developed countries. Government is not the answer,
- 2:18:34Speaker 4: and it never is.
- 2:18:37Speaker 1: Well, it is in some cases. I mean, you would
- 2:18:43Speaker 1: have chaos.
- 2:18:44Speaker 4: Police and fire.
- 2:18:45Speaker 1: You would have chaos without the government. You wouldn't have freedom.
- 2:18:49Speaker 1: You need the government. You need your military to protect
- 2:18:51Speaker 1: your country and your freedom.
- 2:18:52Speaker 24: But the government, you see, isn't really protecting your freedom
- 2:18:57Speaker 24: right now. They're printing us into oblivion. You know, when
- 2:19:03Speaker 24: that happens, when we finally get to the tipping point,
- 2:19:06Speaker 24: where nobody wants to accept our dollars anymore, you know,
- 2:19:10Speaker 24: including your neighbors, then that's when chaos is going to
- 2:19:15Speaker 24: set in. And, you know, frankly, Ron, that might be
- 2:19:18Speaker 24: part of the plan. I'm sure it is, you know,
- 2:19:21Speaker 24: from the, you know, the deep state, you know, the
- 2:19:27Speaker 24: people that control the banks, you know, Federal Reserve. There's
- 2:19:32Speaker 24: nothing federal or reserve about it, but that's been said
- 2:19:35Speaker 24: a thousand times. Um, you know, we're, we're staring at
- 2:19:39Speaker 24: the abyss and what are we now? 179 days or
- 2:19:42Speaker 24: 178 days from, uh, the midterms.
- 2:19:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:19:48Speaker 4: You know, just, just so we can, we, we need to,
- 2:19:51Speaker 4: we need to fight and win, uh, in November so
- 2:19:55Speaker 4: that we can do it again, two years, two years later.
- 2:19:58Speaker 4: And then two years after that, and every election is
- 2:20:01Speaker 4: going to be more important than the last one. And
- 2:20:04Speaker 4: if we don't, uh, you know, the save act, uh,
- 2:20:08Speaker 4: if we don't get that passed, then all this gerrymandering
- 2:20:13Speaker 4: and stuff like that is not going to make a difference.
- 2:20:16Speaker 1: What does G2 say?
- 2:20:19Speaker 4: Congress has a 15% approval rating but a 94% re-election?
- 2:20:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:20:26Speaker 4: Does that compute anywhere?
- 2:20:27Speaker 1: It does to me. I mean, what he was talking,
- 2:20:33Speaker 1: when he was talking tonight about how They're going after Massey,
- 2:20:36Speaker 1: who's probably one of the most conservative person that you
- 2:20:40Speaker 1: would probably agree with more than anybody around, where he
- 2:20:43Speaker 1: says there shouldn't be any foreign aid at all. The
- 2:20:47Speaker 1: country's too far in debt to have any foreign aid
- 2:20:49Speaker 1: going out and to say, get all this outside money,
- 2:20:53Speaker 1: millions and millions of dollars going into a congressional race
- 2:20:57Speaker 1: in Kentucky because they don't like that he puts America
- 2:21:01Speaker 1: first like they didn't like Marjorie Taylor Greene. That tells
- 2:21:05Speaker 1: you all you need to know.
- 2:21:06Speaker 4: But Johnson pays $ 175, 000 a year, right?
- 2:21:08Speaker 1: Yeah, and they're targeting him because he's not going along
- 2:21:12Speaker 1: with the agenda.
- 2:21:13Speaker 24: Here, here, let's just, I don't want to go down,
- 2:21:16Speaker 24: I mean, I've got topics, but this highlights exactly why,
- 2:21:20Speaker 24: you know, J.J. can say a lot of things that
- 2:21:23Speaker 24: he agrees with the Republican Party and Ted and.
- 2:21:28Speaker 4: Can say a lot of things about, you know, the.
- 2:21:30Speaker 24: Politician Ribbig Farmer Rich, all these people. The bottom line is,
- 2:21:36Speaker 24: if we don't demand that our elected officials act in
- 2:21:40Speaker 24: a certain way. Now, I'm upset at the Democratic Party, okay,
- 2:21:45Speaker 24: almost as much as I am with the Republican Party.
- 2:21:49Speaker 4: Neither one of them does enough to make the other
- 2:21:54Speaker 4: one perform better. And when I say perform better, I'm
- 2:21:58Speaker 4: talking about fidelity to the Constitution. Neither party is a
- 2:22:02Speaker 4: check against the other one. We can't continually elect people
- 2:22:07Speaker 4: like Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer and those other lunatics
- 2:22:15Speaker 4: and expect the system to get any better. It's just
- 2:22:20Speaker 4: not going to happen.
- 2:22:21Speaker 1: I'm in total agreement.
- 2:22:23Speaker 24: So when we want to talk about conservative candidates and
- 2:22:30Speaker 24: liberal candidates, the bottom line is I don't care what
- 2:22:33Speaker 24: label they put on them. If they don't have fidelity.
- 2:22:37Speaker 4: To the Constitution, then they're useless to us. That's the
- 2:22:43Speaker 4: bottom line.
- 2:22:45Speaker 1: I agree. Thank you. Appreciate it, Mike.
- 2:22:47Speaker 22: Okay.
- 2:22:48Speaker 1: You're on the air. Hello there. I appreciate you, buddy.
- 2:22:51Speaker 1: You know that. Oops, wait a second. You're on the air.
- 2:22:54Speaker 4: Oops.
- 2:22:54Speaker 1: You're on the air.
- 2:22:56Speaker 22: Well, you were always alluding to artificial intelligence from time
- 2:23:01Speaker 22: to time. And what you were saying about all the
- 2:23:05Speaker 22: checks going to the same address. or part of a community.
- 2:23:11Speaker 1: Stand by. Just stand by for a minute. Let me
- 2:23:13Speaker 1: do my commercials. I'll come right back to you in
- 2:23:14Speaker 1: a minute.
- 2:23:16Speaker 9: News Radio 570, WKBN.
- 2:23:20Speaker 1: 623, Ron Furb, News Radio 570, WKBN. You're on air.
- 2:23:23Speaker 22: Well, you allude to AI on an occasional basis, and
- 2:23:27Speaker 22: that's good that you're doing that. I think it's wonderful.
- 2:23:30Speaker 22: And what you were saying, or the news with Minneapolis
- 2:23:35Speaker 22: and maybe some issues in Columbus or some other parts
- 2:23:38Speaker 22: of Ohio, and that's what you would do. You would
- 2:23:41Speaker 22: ask your AI programming of all of the payees, all
- 2:23:46Speaker 22: the checks that are going out for a particular program,
- 2:23:49Speaker 22: let's say daycare or maybe getting assistance from a family
- 2:23:54Speaker 22: member or a friend to avoid having to go to
- 2:23:57Speaker 22: a nursing home, which would save Medicaid money, and that
- 2:24:02Speaker 22: would be a good thing. But you can get AI
- 2:24:05Speaker 22: and ask it to arrange all of the payees by
- 2:24:08Speaker 22: zip code and then arrange all of those by street
- 2:24:15Speaker 22: names alphabetically and then arrange all of those by numbers,
- 2:24:22Speaker 22: like street numbers, in order numerically. And then all you
- 2:24:27Speaker 22: would do is just run your finger down those lists
- 2:24:29Speaker 22: and you'd find out that, gee, this is kind of odd.
- 2:24:32Speaker 22: There's twenty people getting this check twenty different payees they uh...
- 2:24:39Speaker 22: are in the same building uh... but they do have
- 2:24:41Speaker 22: different doors so there's a one oh two one oh
- 2:24:45Speaker 22: four one oh six one oh ten commerce boulevard on
- 2:24:50Speaker 22: the same street on this particular street they're all getting
- 2:24:54Speaker 22: the same assistance do you know maybe we should look
- 2:24:56Speaker 22: into this wire all these are going to be possible
- 2:24:59Speaker 22: that there's enough room in the building to take care
- 2:25:02Speaker 22: of or provide the service that you're investigating. And that's
- 2:25:08Speaker 22: an application of AI. That's a perfect way to do it,
- 2:25:11Speaker 22: is what I just described. You could have an AI
- 2:25:14Speaker 22: program that would do that and keep track of all that.
- 2:25:17Speaker 22: And all you do is just run down with your finger,
- 2:25:19Speaker 22: and you'd spot them like red lights.
- 2:25:21Speaker 6: On a street.
- 2:25:22Speaker 1: Absolutely. Technology. Basically, you give me hope that technology will
- 2:25:27Speaker 1: stop this fraud that is going on. If the government...
- 2:25:32Speaker 1: Isn't that what Musk really wanted to do with the
- 2:25:34Speaker 1: federal government, that they fought him on and drove him
- 2:25:37Speaker 1: out of town? And we should really do that with
- 2:25:40Speaker 1: our state government.
- 2:25:42Speaker 22: Doge was fantastic, what he was doing. Because he was
- 2:25:45Speaker 22: picking up on all of these red lights or all
- 2:25:48Speaker 22: these hints or... teasers that he spotted. The people that
- 2:25:56Speaker 22: he had working with him in the doge, those weren't
- 2:26:00Speaker 22: uneducated people. They were smart. They knew exactly what they
- 2:26:03Speaker 22: were doing. And sure, he ruffled a lot of feathers
- 2:26:08Speaker 22: because people were getting caught with their hand in the
- 2:26:10Speaker 22: cookie jar.
- 2:26:11Speaker 15: Right.
- 2:26:14Speaker 1: And the Democrats wanted to end it because in many
- 2:26:17Speaker 1: cases that money was going to their nonprofits and then
- 2:26:21Speaker 1: would go back into their campaigns. I mean, it was
- 2:26:24Speaker 1: just total corruption. And like Tech Fisher was saying, we
- 2:26:28Speaker 1: know that we could be talking billions of dollars in
- 2:26:31Speaker 1: the state of Ohio as far as Medicaid fraud is concerned.
- 2:26:35Speaker 1: We'll never get the money back, but we can certainly
- 2:26:38Speaker 1: stop it from happening again. and hopefully prosecute people who've
- 2:26:42Speaker 1: participated in it. And you give me hope by saying
- 2:26:47Speaker 1: this technology should make this relatively easy in the future,
- 2:26:50Speaker 1: very near future.
- 2:26:53Speaker 22: Right, and that's what it's supposed to do. That's what
- 2:26:57Speaker 22: AI does. It accumulates all that data and presents it
- 2:27:01Speaker 22: in a form that makes it easy to understand and
- 2:27:04Speaker 22: to utilize it.
- 2:27:05Speaker 4: Yep.
- 2:27:05Speaker 22: But just to mention one other thing before.
- 2:27:08Speaker 6: I hang up.
- 2:27:10Speaker 5: Uh..
- 2:27:11Speaker 22: Well uh..
- 2:27:12Speaker 3: I was one of the.
- 2:27:13Speaker 22: People that didn't like using illegal immigrant i didn't like
- 2:27:16Speaker 22: the word immigrant to be involved in that at all
- 2:27:19Speaker 22: i i preferred something like illegal entrant so an illegal
- 2:27:24Speaker 22: entrant to the country not an illegal immigrant because a
- 2:27:27Speaker 22: lot of immigrants aren't illegal i didn't like the use
- 2:27:30Speaker 22: of that and i called your show one time about
- 2:27:32Speaker 22: that and said maybe we could use illegal entrant and
- 2:27:35Speaker 22: not too long after that they started using illegal alien
- 2:27:39Speaker 22: so they gave up on that. You don't hear that
- 2:27:42Speaker 22: illegal immigrant as.
- 2:27:43Speaker 6: Much as you used to.
- 2:27:44Speaker 22: There's these other alternatives, which is a good idea in
- 2:27:47Speaker 22: my opinion.
- 2:27:48Speaker 1: I kind of like your word better than any of them.
- 2:27:51Speaker 22: Entrant, yeah, because it makes it very clear. General, that's right.
- 2:27:55Speaker 1: Exactly right. It's very clear, and I like that word.
- 2:27:58Speaker 1: Because now that they're talking UFOs, like people are saying,
- 2:28:01Speaker 1: and what about those aliens? Possibly real aliens.
- 2:28:06Speaker 22: Illegal aliens.
- 2:28:08Speaker 1: Something to think about.
- 2:28:09Speaker 22: I only want authorized UFOs to come to my world.
- 2:28:14Speaker 1: There you go. You've got to call more often. You're
- 2:28:16Speaker 1: an interesting guy. I appreciate your time.
- 2:28:18Speaker 22: Well, enjoy your show.
- 2:28:19Speaker 1: Thank you. Thank you, NewsRadio 570. I've got to scoot
- 2:28:22Speaker 1: because the Guardians pregame is coming up after the break

- 2:28:53Speaker 1: after that and Ghost to Ghost overnight. Ron Verb from
- 2:28:55Speaker 1: the Kingdom of Mahoning wishing you a good night on
- 2:28:57Speaker 1: News Radio. And Sky Ruthie.
- 2:28:58Speaker 9: News Radio 570 WKVN.
- 2:28:59Speaker 1: Guardians!
- 2:29:07Speaker 29: Coming up on Guardians Warm-Up, we check in with manager

- 2:29:13Speaker 29: as they open up a new homestand tonight against the
- 2:29:16Speaker 29: Twins here at Progressive Field. And it's the weekly farm
- 2:29:19Speaker 29: report with Vice President of Player Development, Stephen Osterer, coming
- 2:29:23Speaker 29: up on Guardians Warm-Up.
- 2:29:25Speaker 21: This is Cleveland Guardians Baseball. The Guardians Warm-Up Show is

- 2:30:12Speaker 1: Good evening, everyone.
- 2:30:13Speaker 29: Welcome to the Bet365 Guardians warm-up show tonight from Progressive
- 2:30:19Speaker 29: Field in downtown Cleveland. It's the Guardians and the Minnesota
- 2:30:23Speaker 29: Twins in the opening game of a three-game weekend series
- 2:30:27Speaker 29: and the start of a nine-game homestand for the Guardians.
- 2:30:32Speaker 29: Jim Rosenhouse along with you about a half hour prior
- 2:30:35Speaker 29: to tonight's first pitch. And the Guardians coming off a
- 2:30:38Speaker 29: good road trip, four and three after their victory yesterday.
- 2:30:41Speaker 29: In Kansas City, they are atop the American League Central Division,
- 2:30:46Speaker 29: one game over. 500, a game and a half ahead
- 2:30:49Speaker 29: of the second-place Tigers. Meanwhile, the Twins at the bottom
- 2:30:52Speaker 29: of the division at 16-22, currently three and a half
- 2:30:56Speaker 29: games off the pace. Battle of left-handers tonight, Connor Prelip
- 2:31:00Speaker 29: going for Minnesota, one of their top pitching prospects, and
- 2:31:04Speaker 29: he'll be opposed by lefty Parker Messick, who's been off
- 2:31:07Speaker 29: to a great start for Cleveland. Weather conditions downtown, well,
- 2:31:11Speaker 29: it's cloudy. Some shower activity in the area, but we
- 2:31:15Speaker 29: have been told we will start on time. No rain
- 2:31:18Speaker 29: right now, and hopefully it holds off for the length
- 2:31:21Speaker 29: of tonight's game.
- 2:31:22Speaker 1: Stay tuned.
- 2:31:23Speaker 29: More to come after this. Welcome back to Guardian's Warm-Up.
- 2:31:33Speaker 29: Time for the Weekly Farm Report with Vice President of
- 2:31:35Speaker 29: Player Development, Stephen Osterer. We talked single-A Lake County this week,
- 2:31:40Speaker 29: the home of several college-drafted players, high-round draft picks from
- 2:31:45Speaker 29: a year ago who are battling the ups and downs
- 2:31:48Speaker 29: of that first long minor league full season. And Oste
- 2:31:53Speaker 29: talked about what some of the challenges are for these
- 2:31:56Speaker 29: young players.
- 2:31:58Speaker 8: Yeah, good morning, Rosie.
- 2:32:00Speaker 13: We do have an interesting bunch there with a lot
- 2:32:03Speaker 13: of those college players and I think when, whenever a
- 2:32:08Speaker 13: player makes a transition to professional baseball, the.
- 2:32:12Speaker 8: Volume of the work and the volume of.
- 2:32:14Speaker 13: The games is something that they have to adapt to.
- 2:32:16Speaker 13: And I think for the college players, it's really no
- 2:32:20Speaker 13: different than a high school player. And they're trying to
- 2:32:22Speaker 13: figure out what does the day look like? What does
- 2:32:24Speaker 13: the week look like? How do I put two weeks
- 2:32:26Speaker 13: together and all of the things that go into preparing
- 2:32:29Speaker 13: their bodies, preparing for the game and how to recover
- 2:32:33Speaker 13: from all of those things and, It can be a
- 2:32:36Speaker 13: real adjustment for everyone.
- 2:32:37Speaker 8: So, yes, the college age players are obviously.
- 2:32:41Speaker 13: Older and a little bit more experienced with games. But
- 2:32:43Speaker 13: when you try to stack together the volume of things
- 2:32:46Speaker 13: that they have to do on a daily and weekly basis,
- 2:32:49Speaker 13: there are a lot of things that they have to
- 2:32:51Speaker 13: navigate and learn and learn about themselves.
- 2:32:54Speaker 8: So that can lead to a ton of inconsistency.
- 2:32:56Speaker 14: Day to day.
- 2:32:57Speaker 13: And these guys are no different in seeing some of
- 2:33:00Speaker 13: that to start the year.
- 2:33:02Speaker 29: Well, let's start with last year's top-round draft pick, Jace LaViolette,
- 2:33:06Speaker 29: the big center fielder. What do you think from him
- 2:33:09Speaker 29: so far as he battles through some of those ups
- 2:33:11Speaker 29: and downs of pro ball?
- 2:33:14Speaker 13: Yeah, I mean, he's an incredibly gifted athlete. He's got
- 2:33:18Speaker 13: kind of like the Ferrari body. You get incredible power
- 2:33:22Speaker 13: plus speed. All the tools to dream of this huge
- 2:33:27Speaker 13: upside and ceiling and He's a confident guy.
- 2:33:31Speaker 8: He's really competitive. He wants to be really good.
- 2:33:34Speaker 13: And like I said, he's one of them who's settling
- 2:33:37Speaker 13: into what that professional season looks like.
- 2:33:40Speaker 8: Those adjustments aren't easy.
- 2:33:41Speaker 13: And I think for a guy coming from a big program,
- 2:33:45Speaker 13: sometimes it's a little bit more grind than luxury in
- 2:33:48Speaker 13: the minor leagues.
- 2:33:49Speaker 8: So there's that adjustment to it, too.
- 2:33:51Speaker 13: But From a developmental standpoint, it's just limiting strikeouts, getting
- 2:33:57Speaker 13: a little bit more consistent contact that is going to
- 2:34:00Speaker 13: be the big thing for him long term. There's really
- 2:34:03Speaker 13: no secret around the tools and the upside. It also
- 2:34:07Speaker 13: doesn't mean that this is an easy.
- 2:34:09Speaker 8: Fix or it's going to be something that's developed quickly.
- 2:34:13Speaker 13: It requires time, getting more information, learning about himself uh
- 2:34:17Speaker 13: getting a clearer picture of you know how we're going
- 2:34:19Speaker 13: to impact change and tweaking things over time and you
- 2:34:22Speaker 13: know it's not the prototypical just get bigger stronger pathway
- 2:34:26Speaker 13: for some of these guys and this is one of
- 2:34:28Speaker 13: those included so it's a little bit more complex than
- 2:34:30Speaker 13: that but he's bought into the work he recognizes what
- 2:34:33Speaker 13: we're trying to make progress on you know he does
- 2:34:35Speaker 13: make really good swing decisions um and has plus power
- 2:34:38Speaker 13: when he connects so you know he's shown both of
- 2:34:40Speaker 13: those things thus far at a high level and that
- 2:34:43Speaker 13: part is really exciting so Yeah, he's had some rough
- 2:34:47Speaker 13: patches of strikeout rates early and has had to handle
- 2:34:51Speaker 13: the ups and downs of that already, and he's done.
- 2:34:53Speaker 8: That really well. So it's going to be a bit
- 2:34:55Speaker 8: of a slow burn.
- 2:34:56Speaker 13: And a slow cook to make the adjustments over time,
- 2:34:59Speaker 13: and we'll probably look more like that than just this
- 2:35:02Speaker 13: immediate takeoff.
- 2:35:03Speaker 8: But we're already making progress.
- 2:35:07Speaker 13: He's a phenomenal attitude to the work and showing up,
- 2:35:09Speaker 13: and he's a great teammate.
- 2:35:10Speaker 8: So we're excited about Jayce.
- 2:35:12Speaker 29: We will talk pitching at Lake County after this timeout
- 2:35:16Speaker 29: on the Cleveland Clinic Radio Network.
- 2:35:19Speaker 11: Here's the Bet365 Minute, where winning is everything, with Scott Davidson.
- 2:35:24Speaker 1: Let's take a look at the numbers.
- 2:35:25Speaker 30: The first of a long homestand tonight begins at Progressive
- 2:35:28Speaker 30: Field with our Guardians $ 1. 50 favored on the money line.
- 2:35:31Speaker 30: Total is 7.5. And I'm going to stay right here
- 2:35:33Speaker 30: for a play of the day. I like Messick and
- 2:35:35Speaker 30: the Guardians to get it done in Game 1 tonight.
- 2:35:38Speaker 30: Now Messick enters with a 2.40 ERA. He's also coming
- 2:35:42Speaker 30: off a rough outing. This is a bounce-back situation, but
- 2:35:45Speaker 30: Messick has a great profile, the kind I look for,
- 2:35:48Speaker 30: meaning this. He has an elite batted ball profile. He
- 2:35:51Speaker 30: suppresses hard contact and gets a lot of strikeouts and
- 2:35:55Speaker 30: limits free passes. Perfect spot for Parker Messick to get
- 2:35:58Speaker 30: it done. Guards Moneyline, my play of the day. Now
- 2:36:01Speaker 30: you can join me when you download the Bet365 app. Remember,
- 2:36:03Speaker 30: bet this or any Moneyline all season long. Your team
- 2:36:06Speaker 30: goes up by five runs or more. You win even
- 2:36:08Speaker 30: if they don't. It's the MLB Early Payout. Terms and
- 2:36:11Speaker 30: conditions apply. That's a Bet365 Minute.
- 2:36:13Speaker 1: I'm Scott Davidson.
- 2:36:14Speaker 9: Gambling problem? Call 1-800-MY-RESET. 21-plus only. Must be physically located
- 2:36:18Speaker 9: in Ohio.
- 2:36:21Speaker 1: Welcome back.
- 2:36:21Speaker 29: It's Guardians Warm-Up. Vice President of Player Development, Stephen Oster,
- 2:36:25Speaker 29: is joining us. And we're talking Lake County, and the
- 2:36:28Speaker 29: captains have some arms. They're sprinkled throughout the system, and
- 2:36:32Speaker 29: some good ones down at Single-A Lake County. Let's start
- 2:36:35Speaker 29: with Franklin Gomez.
- 2:36:35Speaker 1: Franklin Gomez.
- 2:36:36Speaker 29: Here he is five starts in he's allowed two earned
- 2:36:39Speaker 29: runs the whole season and there's got to be a
- 2:36:42Speaker 29: lot of excitement the strikeout walk numbers look pretty.
- 2:36:45Speaker 13: Good too yeah we we uh we got franklin as
- 2:36:49Speaker 13: part of the trade with the mets in the offseason
- 2:36:51Speaker 13: we were really excited about him when we got him
- 2:36:54Speaker 13: and i think more excited now than than when we
- 2:36:56Speaker 13: got him too so um left-handed pitcher he's young he
- 2:37:00Speaker 13: spent most of the year last year in low a
- 2:37:03Speaker 13: and We thought we got a guy that had a
- 2:37:06Speaker 13: really advanced arsenal and approach for a 20-year-old, and I
- 2:37:10Speaker 13: think in getting to know the person and watching him
- 2:37:13Speaker 13: work and throw more, we are even more excited and more.
- 2:37:19Speaker 8: Confident in both of those things. He's really thoughtful.
- 2:37:24Speaker 13: He's got these preparation habits and routines that are years
- 2:37:27Speaker 13: beyond his age, He understands himself really, really well.
- 2:37:32Speaker 8: He knows his strengths, his weaknesses.
- 2:37:34Speaker 13: His goals at as high a level as we probably
- 2:37:39Speaker 13: have in the A-ball level, if not even higher in
- 2:37:42Speaker 13: the system.
- 2:37:43Speaker 8: He has performed exceptionally well to start the year.
- 2:37:47Speaker 13: He deploys five pitches per really well um has a
- 2:37:50Speaker 13: game plan for that his slider has gained a you
- 2:37:54Speaker 13: know a few more inches of cut than it has
- 2:37:55Speaker 13: last year so it's allowed him to generate a little
- 2:37:58Speaker 13: bit more whiff he's cut down his walk significantly i
- 2:38:01Speaker 13: think he's been more consistent with his delivery which has
- 2:38:04Speaker 13: helped with that and you know to your point he's
- 2:38:06Speaker 13: really dominating the level through the month of april and
- 2:38:09Speaker 13: There's just so much to be excited about the long-term
- 2:38:12Speaker 13: development with him, too. We think the velocity will continue
- 2:38:15Speaker 13: to trend up over time. We think there's some levers
- 2:38:18Speaker 13: to pull, too, and the quality of his arsenal and
- 2:38:20Speaker 13: how he deploys them. He's got the work ethic and mentality.
- 2:38:24Speaker 8: To capitalize on that.
- 2:38:26Speaker 13: We've got a really good arm as part of a
- 2:38:30Speaker 13: number of good arms in this Lake County roster.
- 2:38:33Speaker 29: One of the other arms down there, a high school-drafted kid.
- 2:38:37Speaker 29: Not too long ago, and I know you like to
- 2:38:38Speaker 29: take it slow with some of the high school kids,
- 2:38:40Speaker 29: but Braylon Doty looks like he's making really good progress.
- 2:38:45Speaker 29: What do you like about his progress as a youngster
- 2:38:48Speaker 29: in the system?
- 2:38:49Speaker 8: Yeah, you're right. He is a youngster.
- 2:38:51Speaker 13: 20 years old, very young for the level in high A.
- 2:38:57Speaker 13: He performed really well last year and continues to perform
- 2:39:00Speaker 13: at a high level again to start this year. Braylon's
- 2:39:04Speaker 13: carrying trade is in the draft and even last year
- 2:39:07Speaker 13: we saw it even improve was just his ability to
- 2:39:09Speaker 13: throw strikes. Um, yeah, he's just so advanced in that department,
- 2:39:13Speaker 13: almost regardless of age that, you know, makes his.
- 2:39:16Speaker 8: Floors so high long-term and, um, you know, it's not
- 2:39:19Speaker 8: quite command.
- 2:39:20Speaker 13: He's not necessarily executing exactly where he wants the ball
- 2:39:23Speaker 13: to go all the time, but it's not, it's not
- 2:39:26Speaker 13: really unrealistic to think that in three to four years time, he's,
- 2:39:30Speaker 13: He's still going to be in his early 20s at
- 2:39:31Speaker 13: that point to be potentially a lead in this area,
- 2:39:34Speaker 13: just with the strides that he's making. He's walking around,
- 2:39:38Speaker 13: I think, 3% of the batters he's faced. We talked
- 2:39:41Speaker 13: about it the other day, just to put that into perspective.
- 2:39:43Speaker 13: When Bieber was in the minor leagues, he held a 2%
- 2:39:46Speaker 13: walk rate, and he was a college-age pitcher.
- 2:39:50Speaker 8: Not to draw the strong comparison.
- 2:39:52Speaker 13: To Shane Bieber and what we saw and put unfair
- 2:39:55Speaker 13: expectations on Braley, but just to put a little bit
- 2:39:58Speaker 13: more perspective on what we're seeing from a 20-year-old in
- 2:40:02Speaker 13: professional baseball.
- 2:40:03Speaker 8: He's trying to navigate and handle a lot of other things.
- 2:40:05Speaker 13: You know, not a strong history of competitive games and
- 2:40:09Speaker 13: development in high school.
- 2:40:11Speaker 8: I mean, it's really impressive to see what he does.
- 2:40:14Speaker 13: And, you know, the primary focus for him really in
- 2:40:17Speaker 13: the short term has been just to learn, lean into,
- 2:40:19Speaker 13: you know, building out his arsenal. We take it slow,
- 2:40:23Speaker 13: like you said, and He mainly relied on two pitches,
- 2:40:26Speaker 13: sometimes three last year.
- 2:40:28Speaker 8: We're maturing into the.
- 2:40:29Speaker 13: Developmental stage of handling maybe more of a complete mix
- 2:40:33Speaker 13: and try to get the five pitches that he can
- 2:40:35Speaker 13: deploy confidently. Long term, I think we still believe the
- 2:40:39Speaker 13: quality is going to be dependent on how hard he's throwing.
- 2:40:43Speaker 13: We've seen the velocity improve. It waxes and wanes because
- 2:40:46Speaker 13: he's 20 years old. We're really optimistic that he's going
- 2:40:49Speaker 13: to continue to grow physically, sustain physically. Some of the
- 2:40:52Speaker 13: higher clips that he's hit, like 97 this year. And,
- 2:40:56Speaker 13: you know, he's had some already adversity in starting the year.
- 2:41:02Speaker 8: He's had some issues with sickness and battling through the flu. And,
- 2:41:06Speaker 8: you know, we've seen some up and down on this stuff. But, yeah,
- 2:41:09Speaker 8: I mean, we've got.
- 2:41:10Speaker 13: A 20-year-old who is incredibly advanced in his ability to
- 2:41:14Speaker 13: throw the ball in the zone. and who has this
- 2:41:19Speaker 13: developing mix that is really exciting to project on long term.
- 2:41:22Speaker 13: So Braylon continues to be someone we're incredibly excited about
- 2:41:27Speaker 13: now and in the future. He's a great kid who
- 2:41:31Speaker 13: works hard, too, so I won't be betting against what
- 2:41:34Speaker 13: he develops into.
- 2:41:36Speaker 29: Exciting stuff, as always, at Lake County. Asti, thanks for
- 2:41:38Speaker 29: coming by. I appreciate it.

- 2:44:42Speaker 29: Time for the Key Bank Manager Show with Guardians Manager
- 2:44:46Speaker 29: Stephen Boat as the Guardians open a new homestand tonight
- 2:44:48Speaker 29: against the Twins and Boater, you come home with a
- 2:44:51Speaker 29: 4-3 trip. I know you don't like looking behind too much,
- 2:44:54Speaker 29: but just looking back on the trip, I feel like
- 2:44:57Speaker 29: some are better than others, and a 4-3 trip in
- 2:45:00Speaker 29: this situation seemed really good. What were your impressions after
- 2:45:04Speaker 29: the game yesterday? A nice win to finish it.
- 2:45:06Speaker 31: Yeah, it was a great way to come home after
- 2:45:07Speaker 31: a nice win. That was a tough trip. Going to
- 2:45:10Speaker 31: the West Coast is not easy, and obviously the Athletics
- 2:45:14Speaker 31: are a really good team, so going into their park
- 2:45:16Speaker 31: and taking two out of three from them We felt
- 2:45:19Speaker 31: really good about that. Then you drop the first two
- 2:45:21Speaker 31: in Kansas City, not looking great, and turn around with
- 2:45:24Speaker 31: two wins to come home. We're really proud of our guys.
- 2:45:26Speaker 31: They battled through a tough road trip. A lot of
- 2:45:29Speaker 31: good things on the road trip and some things that
- 2:45:31Speaker 31: we need to learn from. All in all, a very
- 2:45:33Speaker 31: successful trip.
- 2:45:34Speaker 29: You've been in this game long enough to know that
- 2:45:36Speaker 29: sometimes that day game on the last day of a
- 2:45:39Speaker 29: trip can be a real challenge. But the quick start,
- 2:45:42Speaker 29: how big was that yesterday?
- 2:45:43Speaker 1: It was huge.
- 2:45:44Speaker 31: I thought the way that our guys attacked Seth Lugo
- 2:45:47Speaker 31: in that first inning was perfect. I mean, we had
- 2:45:49Speaker 31: talked before the game that we have to be ready
- 2:45:52Speaker 31: to hit when the ball's over the plate and lay
- 2:45:54Speaker 31: off of the stuff on the edges. And boy, did
- 2:45:56Speaker 31: they execute that yesterday and make him throw 100 pitches
- 2:45:59Speaker 31: in four innings and did just a phenomenal job.
- 2:46:02Speaker 1: That was a huge start.
- 2:46:04Speaker 29: You always have a game plan going in. And you
- 2:46:07Speaker 29: mentioned executing it. I've What makes it more difficult sometimes
- 2:46:11Speaker 29: to execute than other times, like yesterday, where it seemed
- 2:46:14Speaker 29: like they were really on their game?
- 2:46:16Speaker 1: Well, hitting's hard.
- 2:46:17Speaker 31: And you don't know what the other pitcher's going to do.
- 2:46:19Speaker 31: You can plan for all that you want. But at
- 2:46:21Speaker 31: the end of the day, you still don't know what
- 2:46:22Speaker 31: pitch is coming. You don't know when they're going to
- 2:46:24Speaker 31: throw it. And sometimes it's just you watch the first
- 2:46:27Speaker 31: guy or the second guy. And sometimes it might be
- 2:46:30Speaker 31: the second time through the order. You see somebody go
- 2:46:32Speaker 31: out and execute the plan. And then you're like, oh, yeah,
- 2:46:34Speaker 31: let's go do that.
- 2:46:35Speaker 1: But hitting's hard. That's why it's hard to do that.
- 2:46:38Speaker 29: It's taken a little bit for Stephen Kwan and Jose
- 2:46:40Speaker 29: Ramirez to get rolling like we've seen in the past.
- 2:46:43Speaker 29: A couple of line drives for both. That most impressive
- 2:46:47Speaker 29: to you instead of, I mean, a home run would
- 2:46:49Speaker 29: be great, but the way they got on base and
- 2:46:52Speaker 29: came through with the type of at-bats they had?
- 2:46:54Speaker 31: Yeah, I thought yesterday was a huge day for three
- 2:46:57Speaker 31: of our guys, for Kwan and Jose and Bo. Sometimes
- 2:47:00Speaker 31: you just need a day like that. All three of
- 2:47:03Speaker 31: them got on base. They got results. they've been hitting
- 2:47:07Speaker 31: the ball hard just at people.
- 2:47:09Speaker 1: It seems like.
- 2:47:09Speaker 31: And so, um, but Hosey has been taking his walks
- 2:47:12Speaker 31: lately and quality has been getting on base and that's
- 2:47:14Speaker 31: when we roll.
- 2:47:15Speaker 29: And you mentioned Bo Naylor, A home run for him.
- 2:47:19Speaker 29: I know you talk about process a lot, but results
- 2:47:22Speaker 29: for him at this point, really, really important, and maybe
- 2:47:25Speaker 29: can give him a lift down the road.
- 2:47:26Speaker 31: Well, it was great because, yes, is the answer to
- 2:47:29Speaker 31: that question.
- 2:47:30Speaker 1: The day before, I can't remember what day of the
- 2:47:32Speaker 1: week it is, Rosie. I think it's Friday.
- 2:47:33Speaker 31: But I think it was on Wednesday, Bo went out
- 2:47:36Speaker 31: early with Grant Feek and the hitting coach's and was
- 2:47:39Speaker 31: working on hitting the ball in the air to right field.
- 2:47:41Speaker 31: For him to go put in a ton of work
- 2:47:44Speaker 31: on that and then go execute and get a homer
- 2:47:47Speaker 31: the next day, that can be huge. That can be
- 2:47:49Speaker 31: huge for the confidence. That can be huge as we
- 2:47:51Speaker 31: start to get into the season. We know what Bo's
- 2:47:55Speaker 31: capable of when he's at his best. Man, that was
- 2:47:58Speaker 31: a beautiful day he had yesterday.
- 2:48:00Speaker 29: Because of the challenges on the trip, your bullpen was
- 2:48:03Speaker 29: used a lot and you made a move prior to
- 2:48:06Speaker 29: the homestand here. Franco Alamon will make his major league
- 2:48:09Speaker 29: debut at some point in time. Why the move, and
- 2:48:12Speaker 29: what has you excited to see him?
- 2:48:13Speaker 31: Yeah, so I mean, first of all, you know, anytime
- 2:48:16Speaker 31: you have a move coming up, there's always one going down,
- 2:48:18Speaker 31: and we unfortunately had to designate Connor Brogdon for assignment,
- 2:48:23Speaker 31: and Connor was great for us, and we're going to
- 2:48:25Speaker 31: miss him. I don't know how it's going to play
- 2:48:27Speaker 31: out with the waiver process, but I'm truly thankful for
- 2:48:29Speaker 31: Connor and helped us win some games in this early
- 2:48:32Speaker 31: part of the year, but Franco's been throwing the ball
- 2:48:34Speaker 31: well down in AAA. I don't think he's given up
- 2:48:38Speaker 31: a run yet, knock on wood, but we just really
- 2:48:40Speaker 31: liked the way he was throwing the ball. With Sean
- 2:48:43Speaker 31: Armstrong still being out and needing to make the move,
- 2:48:45Speaker 31: we thought Franco can come up. He can give us
- 2:48:49Speaker 31: some innings. He can pitch and leverage. We're really excited.
- 2:48:52Speaker 31: I think this is a great day for Franco and
- 2:48:54Speaker 31: his family and the organization as a whole.
- 2:48:56Speaker 29: If he gets in there this weekend, it's against the Twins.
- 2:48:59Speaker 29: I've A team that's battling to stay near the 500 mark.
- 2:49:01Speaker 29: What are you seeing as you go through your scouting
- 2:49:03Speaker 29: reports on Minnesota?
- 2:49:05Speaker 1: They're good. They can hit.
- 2:49:06Speaker 31: They can really, really hit. And so they match up well.
- 2:49:09Speaker 31: They've got good right-handed hitters to face left-handed pitching. They
- 2:49:11Speaker 31: have good left-handed hitters to face right-handed pitching. And any
- 2:49:15Speaker 31: lineup with Byron Buxton, it's going to be a good one.
- 2:49:17Speaker 31: So they can really hit. They play good defense. Their
- 2:49:22Speaker 31: starting pitching has really good stuff. So we've got our
- 2:49:24Speaker 31: work cut out for us this weekend. But we just
- 2:49:27Speaker 31: need to play our game. Take care of our side
- 2:49:29Speaker 31: of the ball, and we'll see what happens.
- 2:49:31Speaker 29: That is Guardians manager Stephen Vogt, the Key Bank Manager Show.
- 2:49:34Speaker 3: Stay with us.
- 2:49:34Speaker 29: We'll have more to come after this.
