Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jagmars fans, welcome into Duval, Daily Prisoner by Jinjak.com.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Aluga.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks so much for being here Wednesday, March 18th.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, we're taking a look at the Titan position, talking about David and Joku.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: A talented Titan who was recently released by the Cleveland Browns, a guy who has had a lot of production in this league in the NFL.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: He's been playing in the NFL since 2017.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: He entered the league at a young age.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: The guy is only 29.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: He'll be 30.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: this summer, but you see a lot of guys entering the league around that time, a good bit older.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: So David and Joku, former Miami hurricane, so obviously there's going to be some people in Florida that are big fans of David and Joku, former first-round pick as well.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: He's he's big physical, athletic, gifted, tight-end who, in my mind, the Jack Wars should have some interest in, partially because
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: A, any free agent that the Jaguars should be looking at should probably not impact the compensatory pick formula at this point, because the Jaguars have a really good thing going.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: They're projected to have a fourth round comp pick, a fifth round comp pick, and a sixth round comp pick in 2027, based off of the departures of Devon Lloyd, Travis E. T. N. and Greg Newsom.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: That's wonderful.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's fantastic.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's great.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: leverage draft capital, trade capital, all that stuff for the future for 2027, and you know, they could make trades with that stuff, they can't trade a compact right now because they haven't earned it yet, right?
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: But they could, they could definitely trade for the current fourth round pick they have, knowing that they're getting another fourth round pick for
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: a guy that if you bring him in here to compliment Britain's strange, you now have two really good athletes, two good blockers, and look David and Joke were not coming off the best year of his career.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: So the Jaguar's job if they were interested in bringing him in would be to figure out, is he not coming off the best year of his career because,
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: It was just a bad situation in Cleveland, or is there an actual decline in the level of play after playing in the NFL for one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine years.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: That can wear on you, getting close to 30.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that you could be hitting a little bit of a cliff, hitting a little bit of a wall.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: It could also just be absolute dumpster fire of a season for the Browns, and that's why he didn't play as well, wasn't in the best environment, all these things.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: So, that's what you have to figure out if you're the Jaguars, but throughout his career, I mean, this is a guy that has consistently, you know, prior to 2025, he had three straight seasons of over 500 receiving yards.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: He has been a touchdown, like big time touchdown score in each of the last.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: five seasons, including 2025, he scored at least four touchdowns.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: So I do think adding somebody like that, who again does have the ability to block as well, is exactly what we're looking for in Jacksonville.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: It's exactly what I'm looking for at least.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: Does it make sense?
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, what's the price point?
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: How much would he cost potentially to bring in?
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: What type of length of a contract is he looking for?
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: These are all going to be factors.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: And it seems like these AFC North guys that always end up sticking around and they AFC North not always.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: But you see a lot.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: Try Hendrickson to the Ravens.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: I believe David and Joke who also visiting the Ravens.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: No clue if the Jaguars would actually want to bring him in or not.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: But is it something they should be thinking about internally?
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: kind of debating and weighing out the pros and cons, absolutely, because I do think Titan 2 is in need for the Jaguars.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: With Liam Cohen being such a great offensive play caller, play designer, coordinator, being able to have two dynamic Titans on the field at the same time in 12 personnel, and then having both of those guys on the field plus Quentin Morris in 13 personnel
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: that's cooking in my opinion.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_00]: That's a really good situation to have.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: So whether it be David and Joku or someone in the draft, I'm all in on the Jaguar as potentially adding a player who can come in and earn the tie-in to roll.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think David and Joku would quickly have that tied into a role or even like, tied in one B with Britain strange.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: I would imagine he would probably get like a two-year deal at this point.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Murray's wanting to join the party.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: Say hi.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: She's been very needy lately when we're doing these shows for y'all.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: That's okay.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: We love having Murray hanging out with us.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: Poppin' in.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I think David and Joku obviously would be like,
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: co-starter, whatever you want to call it for the jacks and and come in and play a lot for them.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: And you'd be a much heavier 12-person L team, which I think could be good because if you're out there with Parker Washington, Jacobi Myers, Brent and Strange, David and Joku, and basaltutin or Chris Rodriguez, I mean, that's a difficult group to keep up with and then you could also sub out Jacobi or Parker for Brian Thomas Jr.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: That's, that's difficult to deal with right there.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: You don't know if they're going deep.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: You don't know if play action is coming.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot to unlock.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you have to deal with Chris Rodriguez being a really efficient runner.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: Basial Tutan being a really efficient runner.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: I would love it, like if they brought in David and Joker, I'd be fired up about it.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: My best guess, however, is that they'll wait to the draft for a Titan.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is a very good Titan class.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: There's Titans that I would value, as early as Pick 56, all the way down the list to probably,
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: and mid day three that could help, you know, Jack Andrews is my favorite guy.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: I love just how similar I kind of view him to Britain's strange and then you've got guys like Sam Roush who as a blocker is like a six offensive lineman but also does have soft hands.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: It is good on these underneath kind of short routes.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's not going to be the same level of receiving threat as a Jack Andrews or David and Joku.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: but he's a really good player.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think Oscar Delp was underutilized as a receiver at Georgia.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: He could be a day three pick for you.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: And he's a good blocker.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: I love Marlon Klein.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: I value him on day two.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's gonna end up going on day three probably, but Marlon Klein out of Michigan.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: He is, honestly, there's some similarities with David and Joku.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: He's a little taller than David and Joku.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's six, five, six, six, two, 50.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: Seems stretching tight end.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: He wants all the smoke, he wants to hit you, he wants to be physical in the run game, he's a good pass blocker.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: There's definitely some things to like about that.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: And those are just the tight ends that I have personally really grown attached to in this draft class.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of other guys that other draft analysts and folks that follow the draft have really gravitated
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: put it out.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: This is like the deepest Titan class he's ever scouted.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's a class that has more draftable grades at the Titan position than he has ever had.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: And I respect Dane Brugle who's opinion just about more than anyone else in the draft sphere.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: So that's definitely something to keep in mind.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: So while I would definitely be good with the Jaguar's bringing in a David and
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: My guess is they will add a tight end, but it will be in the draft, not via free agency.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: Another thing to keep in mind with in Joku, right now the Jaguars I believe have about $5 million in cap space.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: They have clear paths towards clearing more cap space, but they would need to do so certainly, probably to sign a David in Joku and have room to sign their draft class.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: Their draft class probably won't be as expensive as normal because they don't have a first round pick.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: But they still got a lot of picks.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how many they'll end up using.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: I imagine they'll end up using a lot of them.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: But that's just something to keep in mind too, with potentially signing someone who's going to cost more cap space.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: You have to clear more cap space and be able to sign your draft class, all that good stuff.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: And they have several ways to clear cap space, whether it be a Trevor Lawrence, little restructure,
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: extending, drive on walker, restructuring, some other guys that have kind of big cappets this year, base salaries, so they have the ability to do it.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's just whether or not they want to do it.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: And my best guess is that they're gonna wanna try to address it in the draft.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
