- 0:16[SPEAKER_01]: Can I blame Bob Connelly for this?
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: Can I put on a zebra shirt and just go out there?
- 0:19[SPEAKER_01]: Scratch, claw, up against the wall.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_04]: Can I explain that one feeling right now, guys?
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: I can't believe it.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_04]: Let's open up that raised ball.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: or can't believe, U.S.C.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: is undefeated in the ATC.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, we're in the big tent.

- 0:49[SPEAKER_05]: 31, 13 victory over the Michigan Wolverines at the Colosseum in the Trojans.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_05]: Get a big win, get a million yards, run for a bunch of yards, could've scored more points than they even did.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_05]: uh... throw throw solid win for the trudence uh... the private one should be probably getting back in the rankings we're talking about everything and more join us in the chat tell us how you feel about u.s.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_05]: he's when over michigan as always you can follow social media renautory email us renautory fence at a cometer phone number eight one eight six four three seven two seven second what's burned show i'm your host Michael kustia journal my co-host in the rancher studio in less
- 1:33[SPEAKER_05]: At least at Erichall.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, Lord, everybody.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_05]: Hello, Erichall.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_05]: Sorry.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_05]: Go, go right on into it.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_05]: You, you, you take over the show with your monologue.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_05]: I got to write this time my monologue.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's yeah, that's correct.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, I mean isn't it a hell of a lot more fun to watch USC when they're playing well and winning This was a really really good win and I think that the thing that stands out the most about it is that it felt like a complete win
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: It felt like a game finally where USC's offense looked outstanding, bar one or two mistakes, whichever team will have every once in a while.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: And USC's defense, while I'm not going to act like the defense is fixed, or that it is, you know, that it is, that I trust that it's up for the task for the rest of the season.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: But I think it came to play the offense that they faced.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that they came up with the big plays when they needed to the interceptions, the facts.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the limited plays were the defense show up.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: They were the big moments in this game.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: and they were timely and they made sure that Michigan wasn't able to get back into a game that, you know, it felt like USC was begging them to get back into for a little while, but when it comes down to it, USC outplayed Michigan in every facet of the game.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not often we've been able to say that even U.S.E.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: wins.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: This was a game that U.S.E.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_01]: dominated the line of scrimmage on offense against a defense that we fully expected to go toe to toe with U.S.E.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_01]: and instead, U.S.E.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: makes them look like, you know, warm butter.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_01]: King Miller, U.S.E.s.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: third string, fourth string, walk on red shirt, freshman, running
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: got thrown into a situation where he had to carry the load and be RB1 after injuries to women Jordan and Eli Sanders and the kid turned up with 18 carries 158 yards and a touchdown.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: He averaged 8.8 yards per carry.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: He broke multiple long runs, scored a touchdown and just look like an absolute stud.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: this is u.s.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: he's forth string running back realistically uh... Brian Jackson the the the running back the third string running back who has been injured for the last few weeks uh... wasn't dressed for the game in the first half and in a pinch they got him out there and warmed up and he closed out the game with a touchdown uh... so it was a game where the what the running back stepped up in a way that i don't think we've
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: ever seen USC even be thrown into that position.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: Let alone have guys step up the way that they did.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: The wide receivers all came to play.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was a complete performance from everybody involved in the passing game from Mackay Lemman making big plays to Jacoby Lane coming up with big first-down conversions to Walker Lions and Lake McCree both having
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: just really critical catches and obviously you know Lake McCree's fumble is a costly one that probably makes this game on the whole much closer than it ever ever had any right to be.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_01]: But he still came up with some huge plays for USC and bounce back.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: Even Jane Richardson had a couple of really solid contributions and it just felt like everybody was
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: you know in on it everybody had their role to play in everybody did a hell of a job especially the offensive line who i think late maybe like i wonder if they got a little bit tired um a little bit worn out by the end because they certainly weren't finding the success very late as they were for the better part of three quarters but that offensive line without a lives of page without uh you know starting center killing a corner uh what feels still like a
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: was out there opening gaps for running backs for every like it didn't matter which running back was out there.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: They were opening the gaps that needed to be needed to be open for the running backs to have success in the success they did have.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: And they protected trade in my office pretty damn well for most of the game.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: This is against a really good defense.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe Michigan's defense isn't as good as it was last year, but there's still a really damn good defense.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: And U.S.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: he's offends the weakest parts of U.S.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: he's offends were not weak links in this game at all.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: They were strengths.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that we can't overlook what a statement performance this was for U.S.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: the offensively because if you can do that to Michigan.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: If you can do that to this Michigan defense, you can do that to a lot of defenses out there.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_01]: You know, maybe not Ohio State's defense, which just looks like absolute insanity right now, but most defense is on Ohio State's defense, and you look around college football right now.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: You certainly look at the remainder of USC schedule, and if you can do that to Michigan's defense, you can do that to Nebraska's defense.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: And if you can do that to Michigan and Nebraska's defense, you can do that to Notre Dame's defense.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: Indiana today.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have any illusions about USC going to Watson and doing to Oregon what Indiana did to Oregon, but I think we're a lot closer to that being a possibility now than we were hours ago, because of the showing that USC's offense put in there in the trenches against a really solid defensive team.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_01]: And then defensively, I think
- 7:27[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I still have major concerns about the secondary, I have concerns about the running room that they give up.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: I have concerns about the edges not really producing the kind of pressure that USC will need from guys from edges against the better teams that USC faces.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: I still am very concerned about this defense, but I will give them credit because you can make up for a hell of a lot on defense by simply being opportunistic and by simply making sure that the opposing teams mistakes harm them in the end and that is exactly what USC's defense did in this game.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: They took advantage when Michigan committed penalties.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: they took advantage when price underwood missed a throw they took advantage and they found a way to get off of the field.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: And you know it made a big difference and it ultimately allows USC to win this game comfortably.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: when USC's offense has a turnover to the certainly frustrating turnovers, but when you hold the opposing team to two of nine on third downs and o of two on fourth downs, I know those fourth downs came late, but you know two of nine on third downs, that's a huge change for USC from last week, from previous weeks.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: And that is the kind of of just enough kind of defensive performance that can get you through a lot of games.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I don't know if this defensive performance will get USC through a Dante more, you know, facing a Dante more, but they'll get USC
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: through a hell of a lot against maybe, you know, a Dylan Ryola, if he's mistake prone, certainly when when USC gets to, you know, CJ Carr was going to be a true freshman quarterback who's playing better than Bryce Underwood, but it's still potentially going to be open to making the kind of mistakes that we saw the the freshman quarterback make this week with with Bryce Underwood.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: What we saw from USC was just a cleaner performance, one that took greater advantage of the opportunities that were presented to them, and it results in holding Michigan to 13 points.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, along with we talked about, you know, just having a 20 point defense when U.S.C.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: a hell of a lot of games, and even if Michigan had gone down and scored on one or two more of their possessions, like that would have been good enough for U.S.C.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: in this game and still U.S.C.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: did one better than that, just by being on top of things when they got the opportunity, just by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by, by,
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: a blitz getting home on a third down, just by, you know, a defense, downfield, a past defense downfield, just by, you know, Eric Gentry being at the line of scrimmage making, making plays.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: At that Eric Gentry had one of his better, more impactful games of the season.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that, you know, for all of the faults of other positions down the line,
- 10:30[SPEAKER_01]: you know, bishop that Cheryl popping up with his interceptions is just like classic bishop that's Gerald.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's in the right place at the right time for those plays.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: So just, you know, I have, I just think this was such a welcome performance from USC and I, and I, and I, and I closed the watch along with this sort of sentiment that, um, one of the things that makes
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: rooting for this U.S.C.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: team.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: So frustrating is that we all know that U.S.C.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_01]: is capable of this.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_01]: We talk all the time about if U.S.C.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: puts together a complete performance they can beat this team.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: And one of the things that we've had to deal with and sort of mitigate and sort of work around is the knowledge that U.S.C.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_01]: doesn't
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: bring the complete performance consistently and that you always have to factor in well USC could win this game, but it would take a complete performance.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_01]: So like, you know, I'm not going to bet on the complete performance coming out.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: And it's nice when USC does show up and show us like proof of concept that this, this is out there.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: This kind of performance is out there.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_01]: And all it takes is everybody just sort of singing from the same him, him, no.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: and if you can do it in this game, you can certainly keep doing it week after week after week and sort of prove that Illinois was
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: the outlier prove that Illinois was the come to jesus moment that they figured something out out over the by week that you know that that was going to be there there one slip up of the season and and they're ready to start running downhill and and that's kind of what it felt like in this game at least that they were running downhill for much of this game.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's like I said, it's not a performance we've seen often enough from USC, but that's the difference between where USC is right now.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_01]: The USC that we're talking about is like, yeah, should be ranked.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: We'll probably be ranked after this win as a five and one team with now a ranked victory and a narrow loss to another ranked team.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: That the difference between like being a team that we can justifiably say is in the 20 to 25 range in the rankings, taking that next step towards being
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: word the of a top 15 ranking is replicating this performance weekend, week out and even if it doesn't result in wins against Notre Dame or Oregon being able to produce at this level will give you a chance in those games will prove you can go toe to toe with those teams will make sure that you don't slip up against the lesser teams that are still on your on your schedule and you will end the season.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_01]: looking something closer to 10 into than I thought was possible.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's I guess what I'll end on is just like this was extremely encouraging from top to bottom.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: This is still not a perfect team.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_01]: There's this still a team that has things that give me concern.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_01]: But I also think we saw.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: being able to win this game as comfortably as U.S.E.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: did in the end, despite having those things that still give me pause proves that U.S.E.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: doesn't have to be a perfect team to put themselves in a position to be more nationally relevant at this stage.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: They just have to keep doing exactly what they did in this, which was...
- 13:57[SPEAKER_01]: getting the right contributions at the right moments and, you know, writing them to the end.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, I had a lot of fun tonight.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's the first time in a while that I had this much fun watching U.S.E.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: and being able to do it without the specter of, like, well, this is just a former FCS team, or well, this is just, you know, Clay Hilton's team, or Blutmole, like that kind of, like, this is a competitive Michigan team, and U.S.E.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: made them look
- 14:31[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think if you're a Michigan fan, I think you're you're frustrated.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_05]: You didn't run the ball more.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_05]: I think you're frustrated that Bryce Underwood looked like a freshman at times, but like You obviously frustrated with SC's offensive performance, but like
- 14:48[SPEAKER_05]: I see what's the better team throughout this game.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_05]: I think on both sides of the ball, that was the case.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_05]: And yeah, if Michigan was a matchup that was just going to be better than we thought it was, and Michigan traveling this far and having a freshman quarterback and all those things, even still, if that was the case.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_05]: And if that was the field leveler,
- 15:13[SPEAKER_05]: winning by 18 when you could have scored more because you turned the ball over twice in the red zone.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_05]: They turned over the ball in the red zone too, but so maybe those two count.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_05]: I mean cancel out, but like they could have at least scored one more touchdown, right?
- 15:29[SPEAKER_05]: And really put this, it's like a 25 point win, which would have been huge.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_05]: That's what you kind of do when you have when you play that well when you have that kind of advantage and it, you know, we do the little fun stats with Michael segment in the the Fallout episode.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_05]: I think I have to do it now because these numbers are insane to me.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_05]: Essie's offensive dominance in this game.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_05]: 7.19 yards per play.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_05]: That is the most Michigan has allowed since 2021 when they lost to Georgia in the Orange Bowl.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_05]: The 489 total yards, the most Michigan has allowed since 2022 when Ohio State had 492.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_05]: The 224 yard rushing yards rushing and the 6.2 yards per clip.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_05]: Both of those, the most Michigan has allowed since that shootout with TCU in the Fiesta Bowl a few years ago.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_05]: SC's rushing yards per carry against ranked teams, the last four games out, 6.2 tonight against Michigan, 7.0 against number two, Notre Dame last year, 7.9 against number 5 Penn State and 2024 and 7.5 against number two, Washington and 2023.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_05]: This is an elite offense, it just is, like, this is a national championship offense.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_05]: you've got a parrot with the defensive performance that allows it to be special.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_05]: And tonight they did.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_05]: They, they bent, they didn't break, they gave up a long play.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_05]: The long play was frustrating, but like it wasn't the, it wasn't the same breakdown as the big plays that they gave up against Michigan State.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_05]: Like this one was like guys trying to make a play.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_05]: They didn't make the play.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_05]: They're trying to make the play, they didn't make the play.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Nicholson, just missed, just missed it.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: Just missing it.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: Just missing it.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: Just missing it.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_01]: Just missing it.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_01]: Just missing it.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_01]: Just missing it.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_01]: Just missing it.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_01]: Just missing it.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_01]: Just missing it.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_01]: Just missing it.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_01]: Just missing it.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: Just missing it.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_01]: Just missing it.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: Just missing it.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: Just missing it.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_01]: Just missing it.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_05]: Just missing it.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_05]: Just missing it.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_05]: Just missing it.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_05]: Just missing.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_05]: feeling like they wanted that playback right.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_05]: Even when Michigan ran the ball well and efficiently up the middle of the field with Marshall and Haynes, both those guys to average five yards of carry, we set the over under in the over under segment to over that right and so like that always was going to be the goal to hold them under five and you hold them right at five and you make Bryce under with throw the ball 24 times.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_05]: It puts you in a spot to really succeed and everything sort of comes together for the treasures.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_05]: They do get some tackles for lost five tackles for lost in this game.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_05]: Three sacks, two interceptions from Bishop Fitzgerald, Bishop Fitzgerald, now five picks in six games that ties 22 Kaling Bullock, 2016 Adori Jackson, 2013 Dion Bailey in 2004 Matt Grootogood.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_05]: All those guys let the team in interceptions.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_05]: To go back and find someone who had more interceptions than Bishop Fitzgerald has this season.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_05]: 2003, we'll pull, had seven.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: And we're 16.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: We're at the halfway point of the season.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, 16 said, my new four of them came in two games.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_01]: I knew it.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_05]: And Michigan.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_05]: But like,
- 19:08[SPEAKER_01]: sometimes they come in bunches and he's he's but like I said like it feels like he's just in the right spot to take advantage of you know quarterbacks and it's not like you know yeah well there is there a certain amount of luck involved in in some of this sure but uh you have to be in the right spot to to to to pick off those passes yeah and the way that Bishop Fitzgerald is currently playing like I like his chances to get a couple more before the end of the season you know
- 19:38[SPEAKER_05]: Mm-hmm.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, no, I agree.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_05]: Can any of the chances best wins since 2016?
- 19:42[SPEAKER_05]: I think it feels like that.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_05]: Especially because, you know, SES played well before and lost games, right?
- 19:52[SPEAKER_05]: No-day in Penn State, Washington, those three ranked games, talked about where they ran the ball really effectively in those games.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_05]: Those were all games in which
- 20:00[SPEAKER_05]: They could have won one score games or over time or it was a one score game with Washington and then they didn't score at the end to make it two score 10 point lost there to micropanics but like all those games SC was tied or had the lead or went driving to tie it in the fourth quarter right and this was a game in which
- 20:27[SPEAKER_05]: They played really well in offense, just like in those games.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_05]: And they played well on defense.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_05]: And yes, if Michigan's offense is not as high-powered as Illinois, then make them look not as high-powered as Illinois.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_05]: And they didn't, they held them in 13 points.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_05]: And if you hold anybody in 13 points with us offense, you have a really good chance to win impressively.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_05]: And they did.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_05]: This was, this was so big for SC2, because like we talked about this game being so massive,
- 20:56[SPEAKER_05]: Not only for the season, but for Lincoln Riley, for the tenure, for the direction, the trajectory of USC football, this was a massive win.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_05]: If this would have been the other way around, if SC wins 31-13, everyone's wanting to blow it up.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_05]: Now, SC wins 31-13, you're feeling good going into South Bend next week.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_05]: You know that SC will more than likely,
- 21:22[SPEAKER_05]: At worst, be very competitive because S.D.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_05]: is very competitive against good teams when they face them.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_05]: Like, punchers chance.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_05]: You go into South Bend.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_05]: You haven't won there in a million years, but if, if you do, you're like borderline top 10 feeling good about going to the playoff.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_05]: And that like, that's how pivotal today was in terms of swinging things around.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and low in the traps as they beat LSU last year.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, LSU last year was a big win.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_01]: But it was also in my view, a less impressive win in the sense that like that was a
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: That was a nail bite of from start to finish.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: That was a, you know, throwing punches back and forth and USC getting some big plays at the end to run out of the clock was really impressive when in the context of what it was.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: But it wasn't like dominant the way that this wind felt.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's, I guess, the difference when I've been sort of looking back at,
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: uh, looking back at like the, the wins that USC has had over the last few years.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like USC has had some good wins over team over to over good teams, but very, very few of them have been dominant wins over good teams, you know?
- 22:47[SPEAKER_05]: Like the SRS distribution was Facebook was an exciting win at the end.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_05]: Well, that was an insufferable watch, right?
- 22:55[SPEAKER_05]: Yes.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_05]: The LSU game was great.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_05]: It was an exciting game.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_05]: It was great to see SC go out and beat a team that we thought was was pretty even with where SC was absolutely.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_05]: I think tonight way bigger because last year going to the LSU game, you'll hope that SC won, but if you lost like,
- 23:17[SPEAKER_05]: Well, you're, you're first game with that kill, but yeah, like it's it's completely different given all the stakes on the line tonight, like Lincoln Riley's job.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_05]: for a lot of fans in terms of how they're going to, whether or not they're going to buy in or anything, it was on the line tonight.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_05]: Like, everybody's hopes for what the season could be on the line tonight, and S.E.A.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_05]: entered the bell.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I will say the closest, see the, the closest this game, I think, felt like.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_01]: two games in in the Lincoln Riley era is it's probably the Notre Dame 2022 game.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_01]: In the sense that like one of the things that was really fun about that game is it was again a game where we went in thinking, you know, Notrezie at Notre Dame's got a really good defensive line.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Notre Dame's got a good defense and USC went out and pounded the rock and
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: like took care business physically made a statement in a way that we weren't expecting and I think that's what this game was more of in my view.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: It was a statement kind of statement of a statement of intent almost like a I think I said this on the on the on the watch along like proof of concept kind of when the you know
- 24:35[SPEAKER_01]: We got a text to from our friend Kenny who's having us being the chat to about like this the narrative about The the big ten isn't you know the the packed 12 isn't ready for the physicality of the big ten Well, maybe the big ten's not really ready for the physicality of the packed 12 like I think that there's there's this narrative that You know USC isn't physically up to the task and in this game against what what I think most people would acknowledge is one of most physical teams in the big ten
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: If not the country, USC out physicaled them in so many different ways, certainly on offense.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we could have a different discussion on defense, but certainly on offense.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_01]: And like I think that that's when people talk about why USC doesn't win games.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's often the thing that gets thrown around is this concept that like USC is soft and one of the things that is annoyed me so much is that like I don't know that it's USC being soft.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think that USC is perfectly capable of being physical
- 25:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's often that USC is, you know, prone to just shooting themselves in the foot more often than not.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_01]: So, like, again, to me this was, if you can do this to Michigan's defensive front, then you can do it to Notre Dame's, you can do it to Nebraska's.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: You can do it to Iowa's and you can do it to Oregon's.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_01]: And that doesn't mean you're going to win every single one of those games.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_01]: But you won't get, you know, played off the park in all of those games.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: You won't have zero chance of competing in those games.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: Your offense won't get shut down in those games.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we see, we see around the country all the time.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_01]: You know, really good offenses that when they go up against a good defense, they get utterly shut down and can't score and get limited to, you know,
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: 15, 14 points or whatever, and it's like, oh, well, they just came up against a good defense.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think that what we saw today is more proof that even if this defense, if this offense goes up against a really good defense, I, you know, I think at most opposing defenses that face this team will be looking and saying,
- 26:37[SPEAKER_01]: If we want to win, we need to find a way to hold U.S.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: the under 30 points.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's how you beat U.S.C.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_01]: You hold them under 30 points.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: You're not talking about holding them to 17.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_01]: You are just accepting the reality that if you can get them close enough to 30 points to give your offense a chance, like Illinois's got, then you'll have it like that.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_01]: That level of offense is uncommon in college football.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_05]: As SC it's look sensational on offense, um, they've played six games through completely different competition, right, a practically FCS team in Missouri states, Michigan, a team two years off from national championship.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, they lost guys from last year and the year before and all that kind of stuff, but like this was still a very very good defense.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_05]: We talked about in the preview.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_05]: S.E.s.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_05]: Running back, we're going to have a really difficult time because Michigan has given up yards on the ground.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_05]: but those yards have been to quarterbacks, not running backs.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_05]: We talked about, I had run the numbers, the best running back that Michigan had faced all season so far this year was Dylan Jones, it was Constant who went 17 carries for 63 yards at 3.71 yards per carry.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_05]: Tonight, King Miller, 18 carries, 158 yards,
- 28:11[SPEAKER_05]: 8.8 yards per carry way, even Jordan gets hurt early in the game and Brian Jackson ends up suiting up and he has 35 yards a 29 yard touchdown and ends up with 7.7 yards per carry.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_05]: Mind you, 29 of that came on one run, but like
- 28:29[SPEAKER_05]: I've seen did what to Michigan what no one has done to Michigan so far this year which is run the ball on them which is which is huge.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_05]: At least we got a huge super check.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, David, from David, can I get a touchdown trotians and Boomater Day go survey.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_05]: Love y'all.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_05]: Thanks for the pod.

- 29:50[SPEAKER_05]: Trevor Lawrence going higher than 18 and a half rushing yards on the road, no at home, I can see at all.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_05]: And then Baker may fields higher, 1.5 passing yards.

- 31:03[SPEAKER_05]: At least it looks, it's, it's not about King Miller, huh?
- 31:10[SPEAKER_02]: Let's talk about the King in the house.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_01]: This King Miller, who is King Miller, who is this guy?
- 31:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'll tell you, the next time we say who is King Miller, somebody better be able to answer a scholarship USC running back because, yeah, I think it should be law that if a running back gets 158 yards in a game, a hundred more than 150 yards in a game that they're automatically on scholarship.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_05]: He's, you know, I thought that the Missouri State game was cute.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_05]: I thought the Jordan Southern game was fun.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_05]: I didn't expect this to keep going.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_05]: We had a Michigan fan in our watch along that was like, well, he's just proved the he's the starter.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know that that's the case.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's the funny thing is like, he's not what way been Jordan is really to him.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_02]: He embarrassment of riches that USC has that, but we were talking about it the other day.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_05]: the running back room feels thin for the Trojans because ideally King Miller is your fourth string guy right yeah because we hadn't seen Brian Jackson and then the freshman haven't really been involved and haven't always been suited up and tonight women Jordan and Eli Sanders both go down early in the game and like a danger zone
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: King Miller stepped in and was like no this is a three headed backfield like there's three guys who could be the starter Yeah, which is great great situation to be in you as you were see was at a point where they didn't have a scholarship running back available in this game Yeah, like they had to get Brian Jackson approved and suited up to play
- 32:57[SPEAKER_01]: in order to kid give King Miller right break because the kid was just, you know, else running backs aren't, they don't have that level of load.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_05]: They had Carson to have a ratchee in the backfield.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, it was super close to that.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_05]: 29 team Colorado game where SC started with running back with a guy named Aminera Same.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we were literally talking about like could Macay lemon, you know, would you have Macay lemon or tonal kinds in the in the background with one would you do?
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think that it's just it's it's my favorite story of the season.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's my favorite story in college football, let alone U.S.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_01]: see football.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think that this is the stuff that dreams are made of.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_01]: This is the fairytale story of a player who you know had to scrape and claw like we were talking about is he's the best
- 33:52[SPEAKER_01]: walk on since clay Matthews the the last great you know walk on story at USC it's just this is the like this is what makes for like football romantic like you know that they in in the Premier League and in soccer they talk about like the romance of the FA Cup you know like things that make soccer football romantic and it's like to me that's college football like that is what we talk about like chaos being
- 34:18[SPEAKER_01]: the fun thing about college football like the key there too is that a lot of times it's it's that that that that cast is romantic in the sense of it's fairy tales it's shocking moments and yes it's the upset seeing Penn State get beat but also part of that is like getting to see a UCLA team that had been beaten down into the dirt have their moment of
- 34:41[SPEAKER_01]: of just a nation getting to see Northwestern have their moment of this is like getting to see the the field rush that Virginia had against Florida State like.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_01]: There's a romanticism to that.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_01]: There's a fairytale nature to that and a walk on coming out and doing that as somebody in the chat said I think it's it's passed by but like he did that to Michigan Troy said he did that to Michigan like you said like it's one thing if he does that in garbage time against you know
- 35:12[SPEAKER_01]: teams that are among the worst in the country, even the, you know, USC, they're not the worst in the country.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, teams that are so outmatched and it's in garbage time, whatever.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen that before from a lot of different players, walk on Zandon, walk ons.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_01]: But for him to come out and do that against Michigan.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's just special.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's so fun.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_01]: And even if he never contributes anything ever again, which I don't think will be the case.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_01]: This is the King Miller game.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to be talking about this.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_01]: You know, 10 years from now will be on this podcast talking about like,
- 35:43[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we're still talking about the Dequan Hampton game.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_01]: We still talk about, you know, the buck Allen incredible run at the end of 2013.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like we talk about these, like, you know, performances, these stretches that were just magical.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Daniela Mauderbebe is just like, you know, miraculous, you know, stretcher.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_01]: He looked like the, he looked like the best Titan we'd all ever seen.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like that kind of stuff.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's uh, it's just super fun and Michael in the chat says something great.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_05]: Some people hold on.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_05]: You can't say his name and not have me press the button.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, yeah.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_01]: Michael Flora says some kids are just gamers and this is something I talked about on the on the watch along too.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like,
- 36:28[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes it doesn't really matter what your recruiting ranking was, it doesn't matter sort of where you were perceived coming out of high school or whatever, like if you're a gamer, you're a gamer and that'll come to the forefront, that'll show.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_01]: And I think what we've learned through these first six weeks is like the Miller brothers are just gamers.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I bring Kaylon into this too, the offensive lineman who has not really had a lot of playing time.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's come in a couple times when things guys have gotten like shaken up or whatever, but, you know, Kaylon Miller is King Miller's, if you guys don't know, King Miller, his twin brother is Kaylon Miller, a guard on USC's offensive line, the guard who...
- 37:09[SPEAKER_01]: made a competition in the offseason with Aloninoa a alignment that we expected to be a locked and loaded starter for USA and instead the offseason storyline was that Kaelon Miller was pushing him for a starting job and the alarm bells that that sent off in my head to have a red shirt freshman walk on pushing Aloninoa for that job.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_01]: But like I think the more that we see of King Miller and the more we see of this offensive line I think it just goes to show that like it's
- 37:39[SPEAKER_01]: the I don't know that the alarm bells were fair in the sense of you know a lot of you know has been fine he hasn't been a disaster he's been more than functional uh... so calon miller pushing him for that starting job was a testament to calon miller you know like to to him being a gamer yeah and his brother is so clearly a gamer king miller who is just every single opportunity this kid has gotten he is
- 38:05[SPEAKER_01]: turned our heads every single time uh... it's uh... i just i'm so happy for him i'm happy for his family i'm happy for u.s.c.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_01]: because a world where you know he's a world where you don't have king miller out there this game goes very differently
- 38:21[SPEAKER_01]: if you have, you know, walk-ons that we, you know, it's like a, you know, a good job guy, but not most walk-ons aren't capable of this.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: Even if you gave them 18 carries a game, most of them are not capable of doing what King Miller did tonight.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_05]: Especially the 18 carries against the a teamest physical as Michigan and Evan the chat said that he thinks he broke the the walk-on record for garbage,
- 38:49[SPEAKER_05]: I need to do more research on that.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_05]: It's hard to tell.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_05]: It's also like it's like there's a database of when people got their scholarships, you know what I mean?
- 38:57[SPEAKER_05]: James told him by the way 207 career rushing yards.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_05]: Bill did pass that tonight.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_05]: So if that's the record, then yeah, but didn't told him get it scholarship at one point?
- 39:09[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I believe so.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, it's hard to say, but yeah, let's super chat.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_05]: Let's go to the super chat.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_05]: of the law comes in and says headed in the name next weekend from Tennessee to whip some Irish and also go like host to canyon mavericks everyone just pop it in there their their teams here cheers let's see it thank thank you the law go go black nice noted name can say it to lad this is in the week I know that's why I said I did
- 39:47[SPEAKER_01]: uh... some on in the chat says we need a ryan cerry shout out speaking of freshman macons ryan cerry uh... has been such a pleasant surprise so as she has a third and i got to pull up the play here in the stat book
- 40:08[SPEAKER_05]: where it's a third and 20 at the Michigan 46.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_05]: They run a pass to the right to McKi-Lemin for nine yards, creates a fourth and 11 at the Michigan 37.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_05]: We talked about it on the watch along.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_05]: That was the worst, you have three options there and they all sell them are good.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_05]: Now, going for a fourth and 11 sucks, hunting sucks, kicking a field bowl, it's a 54 yarder.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_05]: walk on nothing walk on kickers are a big deal because shout out to walk on kickers by the way shout out today big shout out to Alex Wood and you're a bigger yeah big cheers assuming he was a walk on to was he and I know either way for me was he kicker yeah you got married today got married during the game it is yes psychotic behavior from a former u.s.e.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_01]: player, but you know, we don't have him in Aubrey's tiktoks, but we do love their tiktoks, but I got to say their friends have every right to be pissed at them.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_05]: I wonder, does Max Brown lose a game check from ESPN?
- 41:18[SPEAKER_05]: He's with the ESPN now, right?
- 41:19[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, yeah, I don't know.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_05]: Anyways, okay, fourth in 11, the Michigan 37.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_05]: I don't like it.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_05]: I think of the option there.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_05]: I think going forward on 4th and 11 probably the best option.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's what I was looking like this is like 35 30 31% like the 3 options right like none of them are good Ryan Cary comes in.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_05]: And by God he banged it in there right down the middle.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, plenty of leg.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like yeah He said the prettiest kicks, but they get there.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's nine of eight.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_01]: He has one missed this season.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_01]: He's now made a 54 yarder, which proves his room 48 yarder.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like that's
- 42:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's okay.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_01]: There's a discussion in the NFL right now about whether or not kickers have gotten too good, like that it's annoying that like 55 yard kicks are now automatic effectively, and that that kind of like is no fun at the end of games when you just need to, you know, you don't even need to get that close to go for the kick.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_01]: But like
- 42:21[SPEAKER_01]: The thing my college football is, like, hashtag college kickers is very much still in play.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_01]: And kickers are still very much unreliable and largely just so you don't want a game to come down to a kicker ever.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't want us to lose sight of the fact that
- 42:36[SPEAKER_01]: despite USC's preferred number one kicker to start the season a transfer that was brought in to be a star like award candidate level kicker.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: has been injured all season.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: It was like a preseason all the way.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_01]: Ryan Sayary was never intended to be a starting kicker for USC.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_01]: Ryan Sayary was was at most going to be USC's kickoff specialist.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_01]: He was not supposed to be a place kicker.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_01]: And he has come in and hit nine of eight.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_01]: He has been nothing but a
- 43:13[SPEAKER_01]: reliable.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_01]: He has proven that USC doesn't need to avoid kicking the ball if they are in those positions.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_01]: They can feel rather confident and saying, you know what, no, send Ryan out there.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_01]: If he misses he misses, but like he's not somebody you have to say, well, we can't possibly kick because that's a waste.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_01]: The way that I do in college for both 26 where I'm like, I kick in because I hit knit, you know, you got the super chat.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_05]: Fighting on MCs is a feel so good to leave a game with the win especially a Michigan win fine on thank thank you fighter and I'm see we appreciate it.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_05]: Thanks for always being the chat We'd love you guys Yeah It's it's a big deal.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_05]: I think for SC to get a win today not only for all the reasons that we talked about but like
- 44:01[SPEAKER_05]: to just like as he fans have earned it right like there's been so many close games so many of these like well there were just one play away all those there's tough games even games where they lost that they looked good in see Penn State Notre Dame last year.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_05]: to finally, you know, get it.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_05]: I think it's big.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_05]: And is Michigan is going to spend say, no today more last year?
- 44:27[SPEAKER_05]: No, probably not.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_05]: But like, that's irrelevant.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_05]: Especially when you beat them by 18 and it could have been more.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_05]: So big ups for, for what the trend we're able to do there.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_05]: Let's talk about the defense.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_05]: I was at the greatest defensive performance you've ever seen in your life.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_05]: No.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_05]: If this is the, if this is the defensive performance that you get for the rest of the year, I would sign up for that ASAP.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_05]: Where do you?
- 44:59[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if they can, they can, I'm a better, there's a lot of areas to get better. 100%.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_05]: And if the defense plays like this, against Luca Altmire would he have carved them up more.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_05]: Probably.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's my concern is that I think that price underwood is is with all due respect going to be one of the one of the weeker She got about the right time as a fresh rose of the ball that USC will face this season specifically because he is a true fresh and figuring himself out all of that kind of stuff Yeah, I do think that there's clear talent that he has some armed some armed talent available there, but he's clearly not the finished product
- 45:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that CJ Carr is much more polished at this point, but still a young quarterback that you will still hope to take advantage of.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_01]: But like, you know, I think that USC will will continue to face some pretty good quarterbacks who can take.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_01]: who can take advantage of this defense in more effective ways, and I suspect that USC will maybe face some offensive coordinators who will lean into their strengths a little bit more than what we saw in this game.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not, like,
- 46:20[SPEAKER_01]: I am encouraged by this often by this defense of performance.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_01]: Don't come around.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm encouraged by it.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_04]: For sure.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_01]: What I sign up for it and just like lock-in USC's level at this point?
- 46:30[SPEAKER_01]: No, I'd still like to see some improvement in terms of run for sure.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_01]: The fans would like to see some improvement in terms of the winning the battle on the defensive line in the run game.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_01]: you know, I'd like to see USC's DBs, particularly the corners, be a little bit more competitive in one-on-one situations, you know, like all of those kinds of things, I think are certainly possible.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_01]: I would love to see USC's N, see USC's edges be more effective in one-on-one situations, you know, rushing the passer, being able to beat a man.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's a lot of room for improvement on this defense.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_01]: Now, if you would give me
- 47:11[SPEAKER_01]: the timeliness of USC's defense in this game in the sense of coming and having their best plays on third downs more often than not, I would take that.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, Michigan on third
- 47:31[SPEAKER_05]: So 11 key plays there, and SC199 of them, which is pretty good, like, that's important.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_05]: And I go back to the run defense, like, yes, I think the run, run defense can get much better.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_05]: But like, they gave up quite a few 10 yard runs.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_05]: They didn't give up the 80 yard run.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_05]: They didn't give up the 70 yard run.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_05]: They held those guys, the five yards per carry.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_05]: Um, obviously that is absolutely more than manageable if you're Michigan looking at it and you'll take that every day of the week and if I see what's doing that against Michigan, you'd be elated.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_05]: Um, it could have been worse.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_05]: It could have been worse.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_05]: Um, not that that's like.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_05]: You know, a banner to hang up in the rafters or anything like that, you know what I mean?
- 48:21[SPEAKER_05]: But like, this is a big stepping stone.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_05]: I think for the defense, next week probably the biggest challenge of the season.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_05]: I think that we can say that at least through this point on the road at Notre Dame.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_05]: Not only are you getting,
- 48:37[SPEAKER_05]: to face a tough team on the on the road.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_05]: But an offense that has put up a bunch of points, not at Notre Dame's offense, kind of carrying them at that right now, which I think is going to be fascinating because I think SD can score points in South Bend.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_05]: So we'll talk about more more as the week goes on.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_05]: But you know, there should be chat.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_05]: Man's on Mars says good wind but can be stringed to in a row big as weakness against Notre Dame what would that we'll take for Notre Dame To come out and all in all greens.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_05]: They've already warned the old.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_05]: They're looking for you stay.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I don't think we're gonna see the they all greens I wouldn't be surprised if they did an alternate, but I don't think it will be the greens
- 49:25[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I, I, what's the biggest weakness against Notre Dame?
- 49:29[SPEAKER_05]: Are we talking about SE's weakness?
- 49:31[SPEAKER_05]: I think it, I think it's got to be the secondary, that well, specifically the corners, right?
- 49:37[SPEAKER_05]: It's the corners, because CJ car can throw the ball.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_05]: that's the weakness.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, but their defense will give you points.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_01]: I fear Notre Dame's offense, because I think more so than Michigan in this game, I think Notre Dame will not be afraid to say screw.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_01]: We're just going to run the ball down your throat every single down.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that teams that decide that will generally
- 50:05[SPEAKER_01]: e-rewarded for that, um, that tactic.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_05]: Um, we got a message in the chat from, uh, smashed the numbers, says Michigan fan here, congratulations.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_05]: I lost the better half to do thrusters, the, that last, the length of fight on, then I'm supposed to post it online.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_05]: How long is that song?
- 50:29[SPEAKER_05]: I need to seriously train now.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_02]: Well, what is how long is fight on?
- 50:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like, maybe a minute.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_01]: Well, let me see.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to look it up on Spotify real quick.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like, what is the band version of fight on?
- 50:43[SPEAKER_01]: How long is that?
- 50:44[SPEAKER_05]: There's also several versions of fight on.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_05]: That's the thing is like, you can, you can be a fight on.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_01]: I have a long, you want.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_05]: 50 hours if you want to.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_05]: And there's 10 hour versions on YouTube.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we know who we know this.
- 50:57[SPEAKER_05]: It's great when you don't want your computer
- 51:02[SPEAKER_05]: It's great, just put it on that, and then optional, whether or not where you want the volume to be.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_05]: And then, yeah, it's, yeah, I would say it's like a minute and 20 seconds of the normal run, maybe?
- 51:15[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, let's see, the official Trojan marching band has it a minute.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_05]: A minute, okay.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_05]: You can do it a minute.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, William says they can play it for about 30 seconds.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think they can, they're, you can, depending on how you do it, you can, I mean, the first down, when they do it on first down, it's like, yeah, it's like eight seconds.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, because it's just like, you know, a couple of bars.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, it's just 57 seconds.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_05]: Um, campuses that confuse fight on what should be destroyed.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, a lot of people do.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_05]: Well, it's the sound and defense and fight on the song on offense.
- 51:49[SPEAKER_01]: tribute to Troy on the on this U.S.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_01]: e. Trojans classics, game day faves tribute to Troy is also exactly one minute.
- 51:57[SPEAKER_01]: Does it include so doesn't include fanfare because fanfare is one fifty four they are both versions.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_01]: So good luck.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_01]: Cheers to you for a performance through.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_05]: I.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm the honest, I would be honest, I would not make a bet to do thrusters to held the major.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's a great song.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's a great song.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's a great song.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's the best fight song in college football.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, me.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_02]: Easily.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_05]: Essie is facing the three of the best college football fight songs.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_01]: Held the victors is two minutes and two seconds from the official university to help us.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_01]: And they have a 30 second version of it though.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_05]: next week, the nerdy fights on, why is it bothering me what I can't take at the name of it?
- 52:49[SPEAKER_05]: That and then?
- 52:50[SPEAKER_05]: Sure, sure for me.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_05]: And then it replaced like Nebraska.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_05]: Like, these are so many elite fights ons in the big ten.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_05]: The Notre Dame victory march is the second of the way it's called.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's a great song.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_05]: But we won't come in here.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_05]: You make fun of me because one of my
- 53:12[SPEAKER_05]: is my Michigan hat.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, you, you get mad at me for saying go, Notre Dame High School Black Nights.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_01]: I don't do a little odd.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_01]: When you literally have a Michigan hat, it's weird on the part of the hat.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_05]: It's sitting right over there.
- 53:27[SPEAKER_05]: It's arm distance away.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_05]: But I wasn't going to wear it on the pod.
- 53:31[SPEAKER_05]: It's just a very freaking comfortable hat.
- 53:33[SPEAKER_05]: I love it.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_05]: It's comfortable.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_05]: I could have worn it and put it like a post it and out over the logo.
- 53:39[SPEAKER_05]: But I wasn't going to do that.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, what I've determined here is that Michigan fan, whose name I'm now for getting apologies, smash the numbers.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's a good thing you didn't sign up to do a sing-sing sing or the fanfare tribute destroy and fight on combo.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that is on the spirit of Troy.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's like a playlist.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_05]: Two and a half three minutes.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, two and a half for that one and sing-sing sing is 255.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_05]: Big Ups to Cobra, Mick Jingle Balls.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_05]: join us in the rat supporters club.
- 54:18[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for that name and forcing Michael to say that on the pod.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_05]: It's it's good.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_05]: Also big ups to Sean and beautiful awesome Texas skit.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, did he became a member for a super long time of course.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_05]: You can become a member uh join us on the discord and all that kind of stuff.
- 54:32[SPEAKER_05]: I feel like we don't promote that enough.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_05]: We should.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_05]: We don't.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_05]: We should.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we have fun over on the discord.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's a good time.
- 54:40[SPEAKER_05]: Um at least.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_01]: And if you were if you had bet on the discord today, you would have seen a lot of
- 54:46[SPEAKER_01]: You know, doomsday, you know, about what's going to come for the rest of the seasons, so yeah, I think I haven't looked yet because I had to mute it so that I don't get spoiled while I'm watching the game, but I haven't looked and seen what the
- 55:02[SPEAKER_05]: But the vibes are over on discord and yeah, well, I'm interested in Sanders also joining the rat supporters club.
- 55:09[SPEAKER_05]: We appreciate you guys.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_05]: It's it's go through the the scores in the big 10 Ohio State.
- 55:16[SPEAKER_05]: 34 16 over Illinois Illinois turned the ball over and they made him pick.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's that's basically it they Illinois turned the ball over and I and I think Ohio State didn't yeah, that's what you see's they fault was indiana Beats Oregon on the road in Eugene impressively 30 to 20 there is a pick six in the fourth quarter from Fernando Mendoza, but like he has Look at kind of amnesia
- 55:44[SPEAKER_01]: I love Fernando Mendoza.
- 55:46[SPEAKER_01]: I could have told you when Indiana brought him in that that was gonna be really fun for them Yeah, and it definitely has Is this Indiana team the most likable college football team in a while?
- 55:58[SPEAKER_05]: feel like they are.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_02]: Probably.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_05]: Is there anyone who doesn't like them besides like Purdue fan?
- 56:03[SPEAKER_02]: Like they're fun to watch.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_02]: They're fun.
- 56:05[SPEAKER_02]: I love the way they play.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_02]: Kurt Signetti is a crazy person.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_01]: He's a crazy person.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_01]: He's a crazy person.
- 56:10[SPEAKER_01]: He's a crazy person.
- 56:11[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_05]: He's the best kind of a crazy person.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_05]: Yes.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_05]: Usually I just turn it around.
- 56:16[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, a lot of people probably rooting for UCLA at this point.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe not here.
- 56:21[SPEAKER_05]: But they're a fun story, at least.
- 56:24[SPEAKER_01]: Thomas in the chat says, I've been a pod follower for years and had no idea there was a Patreon.
- 56:28[SPEAKER_01]: They're used to be a Patreon.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_01]: Now we just have the YouTube membership situation, right Michael?
- 56:35[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you can join and you get the discourse.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_05]: You get like cool little emojis and stuff.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_05]: We need to do bonus content.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_01]: We talk, we say this like all the time.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_01]: We need to do bonus content.
- 56:47[SPEAKER_01]: We really,
- 56:48[SPEAKER_01]: we really do want to like reward the people who join up with something that's extra.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what that is yet.
- 56:58[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_05]: Our friends over the discord are great and super super pop in every way.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_01]: We appreciate what I appreciate the most, I think, is that the people who support us via the YouTube subscription and everything like that.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like generally they do so to just support the show and not for necessarily things in return.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_01]: But I still want to give people things in return because I think you and I
- 57:23[SPEAKER_01]: support a lot of the other shows that that we like because we want to support them and and it in the same time like today I was listening to the RHAP, the Robbins podcast like Patreon Q&A for Survivor and it was like this is like an hour and a half of three minutes of the episode.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_01]: That night didn't finish it enough.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_01]: But it's an hour and a half of like content that I know listening to that like I don't even I don't need the like I wouldn't even need to justify supporting this this this group of people that I really like so, you know, I think we need to be better at that but yeah and we we thoroughly appreciate everybody think this is I think we need to a live pod till the end that would be that would be a lot that would be a lot Northwestern beats Penn State
- 58:13[SPEAKER_05]: 22 21 in state college.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_05]: Penn State now 0 and 3 in the big 10.
- 58:23[SPEAKER_02]: You see, I had to put a big 10 record that didn't stick.
- 58:28[SPEAKER_05]: By a, by two games, yeah, it's, it's, it's crazy.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_05]: Um, the brass could go on the road scores 10 points in the fourth quarter, then an unanswered points in the fourth quarter in college park to be Maryland 3431.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_05]: Good showing for them.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_05]: Maryland, they've got a pulse.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_05]: That looks like a game of like you can go into Maryland and leave with a victory and you do it good for them.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_02]: You found that out.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_05]: Iowa absolutely jiggle bags Wisconsin 37 nothing.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_05]: This is the worst Wisconsin team in the world outside, right?
- 59:04[SPEAKER_05]: Like, easily.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_01]: Pretty much, yeah.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_05]: Easily, yeah.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_01]: Which, again, again, like, trust me, you guys all know.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I am not Lincoln Riley's biggest fan at this point.
- 59:14[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but I will say, you know, we talked about this.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_01]: way back when like just in Fuente would have been the or Dom Herman would have been the hires we would have loved in both neither of them worked out just like well okay and then you know thinking about this like Luke fickle we would have been all about Luke fickle and it's been a disaster with him in Wisconsin so you know in coaching hires the problem with firing coaches who are underperforming is that it's easier when they are catastrophically underperforming than just like being
- 59:47[SPEAKER_01]: being fine because you never know how much worse you could get.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, 100%.
- 59:52[SPEAKER_05]: Perdue loses on the road at Minnesota 27-20.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_05]: Perdue is on three in the Big Ten, but I feel like that... That's competing.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_05]: They're appearing in the ass to play.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_05]: Um, yeah, um, there was something else I was going to mention in the, uh, the chat.
- 1:00:11[SPEAKER_05]: Charlie says, show QD Badger.
- 1:00:14[SPEAKER_05]: No, did he spend a bad day?
- 1:00:16[SPEAKER_01]: Can I have a, I mean, I don't know, some of you with, you can never tell.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_01]: We can never tell because we've had people mention Badger when we've had him in the crate and he's barking the way that he has been for this entire show.
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_01]: or more or less, most of the show.
- 1:00:30[SPEAKER_01]: So like he is currently in his crate.
- 1:00:34[SPEAKER_01]: He is currently being a very loud, whiny baby.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_05]: I think we got to a really good point where we figured out a really good strategy and we were gonna do that today.
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_05]: And then second half of the game, he was insane, insane.
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_01]: And you guys wanna, you guys wanna look at Badger or more specifically Badger's tail that's currently in front
- 1:00:58[SPEAKER_01]: his camera.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_05]: Looks like a like a plume.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:01:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think he knows we're talking about him because he's suddenly stopped barking.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_01]: Nope, he's back here.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, you guys are going to get a better look at him.
- 1:01:15[SPEAKER_01]: He's now laying down and barking and whining and mowning and crying.
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, there he is, that's better.
- 1:01:23[SPEAKER_05]: We will, we will go a piece him here in a minute there.
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_05]: Um, oh, uh, Paul Domey says, what you're updated, Roder meter ranking.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_05]: When last we spoke, the Roder meter for collectively for the show was in about a 3.4.
- 1:01:42[SPEAKER_05]: Um, that was after the Illinois game.
- 1:01:44[SPEAKER_05]: That's based on what you guys have had to say.
- 1:01:48[SPEAKER_05]: I think at this point, if I'm doing the rotometer my personal self, I think it is 7.2.
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_02]: Where was I?
- 1:01:59[SPEAKER_02]: Do you remember where I was?
- 1:02:01[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 1:02:02[SPEAKER_02]: Did I go down to like a 4 or 5?
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_05]: Either way, you guys can vote on this thing.
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_05]: There's a link in the show notes.
- 1:02:09[SPEAKER_05]: If you're watching on YouTube, go down in the dribbly do it.
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_05]: It's in there as well.
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_01]: I think I'm up to, I'm back up to a seven.
- 1:02:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to go higher than a seven because I think that
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_01]: You know, let's not lose sight of the fact that U.S.
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_01]: he was favorite in this game.
- 1:02:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's a game that they also won by these scores in the game a bit more.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_01]: 100% yes.
- 1:02:32[SPEAKER_01]: But it's also still a game that U.S.
- 1:02:33[SPEAKER_01]: he was picked to win because statistically U.S.
- 1:02:36[SPEAKER_01]: he should have won this game and U.S.
- 1:02:38[SPEAKER_01]: he should have beaten Illinois and didn't.
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_01]: And so, you know, I think that I will continue to judge U.S.
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_01]: he and people can
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_01]: Tuesday, it's harsh with me, but I will continue to judge USC at a high standard, specifically because I put this on Twitter today.
- 1:02:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I think that what USC does this year, I will not be able to help myself from comparing it to what Indiana is doing, not in the sense that like USC has to be as good as Indiana or I think USC's trash or whatever, but I will say like,
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_01]: all of the calls for patience, all of the, you know, they just got to get better and, you know, just give him time and all that kind of stuff like all of that gets really unraveled in my head when I look at what Indiana was before Kurt Signetti and what they are now.
- 1:03:30[SPEAKER_01]: And that happened overnight and they are out here going into Otson and beating Oregon.
- 1:03:37[SPEAKER_01]: And all of that with less talent than USC tends to have on their rosters with a shorter rebuild with a much bigger rebuild even as bad as USC was as bare as the coverage where you cannot convince me that Indiana's cupboards weren't like
- 1:03:57[SPEAKER_01]: miles less like miles more bare than what USC's were so I will continue to hold USC to a high a high standard.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_01]: I will not overreact to USC winning a game that they ought to have won.
- 1:04:10[SPEAKER_05]: It's about the way that they won.
- 1:04:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, as such as I am about the way that they want is encouraged as encouraged about this game as I am, which I very much am, I still think that we need to be looking at USC as a team that should be doing.
- 1:04:25[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is where USC should be.
- 1:04:27[SPEAKER_01]: USC should be beating Michigan at home.
- 1:04:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and this is a play this is an improvement over last year when USC should have beaten mission Penn State at home and didn't at this exact same time of year.
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_01]: And so it is clear improvement from last year.
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to deny that clear improvement.
- 1:04:43[SPEAKER_01]: But I think at this stage, you know, if USC isn't fighting for nine and three, then.
- 1:04:49[SPEAKER_01]: What are we even doing here.
- 1:04:51[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 1:04:52[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so you guys can put in where you think the router meter should be and then we'll reconvene on Monday when we go into the file episode.
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_05]: All right, we're going to wrap up there.
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_05]: Um, lot of stuff still to get to.
- 1:05:07[SPEAKER_05]: We got to talk, we didn't talk about Jane Maava who was pretty good, say, for one horrific play in this game, which thankfully for him and for everybody else did not prove to be damaging.
- 1:05:21[SPEAKER_01]: But my god, he is he still is who he is like I think We will talk more about that interception, but but yeah, I think good All in all, he still look like one of the better quarterbacks in college football Just lost his mind for a moment.
- 1:05:38[SPEAKER_05]: I
- 1:05:40[SPEAKER_05]: It was one, it was one bad play.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_05]: I thought he was fantastic.
- 1:05:42[SPEAKER_05]: Otherwise, Mackay Lemon, we didn't even talk about, was sensational.
- 1:05:47[SPEAKER_05]: That was insane.
- 1:05:49[SPEAKER_01]: Mackay is now, has reached the unfortunate level that some players do, where it's no longer surprising when they are absolutely out of this world incredible.
- 1:06:00[SPEAKER_01]: And so it's like, do we even need to mention that Mackay Lemon was absolutely out of this world incredible because that's simply what he is.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_05]: It's absolutely out of the couch.
- 1:06:09[SPEAKER_05]: I said it during your watch along like that catch was Seriously one of the most impressive catches I've ever seen in my life.
- 1:06:16[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, because he is falling away He's got two guys around him.
- 1:06:22[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know how he saw the ball.
- 1:06:24[SPEAKER_05]: He's got eyes in his face.
- 1:06:25[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, uh, hand to his face.
- 1:06:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like hopefully he's got eyes in his face I don't know how the hell he saw the ball is right for being ripped out of his arms as soon as he brings it in like
- 1:06:37[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, the dudes in sync.

- 1:07:03[SPEAKER_01]: I literally just opened up Twitter
- 1:07:06[SPEAKER_01]: Healy, just tweeted a picture of Mokai at the high point with the catch, and she says, I'm sorry, but I'm still trying to understand the physics of this Mokai lemon touchdown catch.
- 1:07:19[SPEAKER_01]: It is, it is absurd.
- 1:07:22[SPEAKER_05]: So, all right, guys.
