- Blake: Well, well, well, look who is back after our unforeseen, unintended, one week hiatus that was not planned but sort of just happened. It is- it is I, Blake, of Mention It All Again Pod with my co-host, also of Mention It All Again Pod, Casey. Casey: Hey everyone, we're so happy to be back. know, life comes at you fast. And sometimes there's way too many episodes to watch in a week when life comes at you a little fast. Blake: Sometimes you forget to duck. We had some instances, ⁓ you know, there was blood, was gore, there was violence, there was explosions, a couple of those as well, yes. And we just felt that it would be the best for us and therefore for you guys if we were to take a week to present with you a quality product that we could be proud of and that you would enjoy listening to. Casey: Yes. few war crimes. Blake: And I just want you guys to know that we, we here at Mention It All Again Pod value transparency, we value openness and honesty, and we don't like, we don't like to not be consistent. And I can't say it won't happen again, but look, if it's happening, we'll always be back. And if you, whatever reason, don't see us in your, your queue on Casey: It's so true. We'll always be back. Blake: Monday slash Tuesday, sometimes it's accidentally a little bit on Tuesday. But if you don't see us on our queue, just know it's for good reason. Because we're not new to this, we're true to this, okay? Is that a Nicki Minaj quote? Casey: because this is 265 days a year that we are grinding. Blake: Good segue good segue even though we're not segueing into that quite yet because I did want to ask you about I did what no it's a teaser and if you if you looked at our if you looked at our gorgeous graphic I don't know I'm getting mad if you looked at our graphic of upcoming episodes then you should know what this episode is about and actually if you clicked it then you'll also see the title and So you you know you should yeah anyway, whatever the fuck Casey: No, but it's a teaser, it's a teaser. Blake: But I did want to say before we get into the real shite of it all, I know that you watched Jen Shaw's post-prison interview and I wanted to give you the chance, Casey, to present us maybe the highlights. Casey: Target. Absolutely, thank you for that creating that space and I actually did think That I saw a new clip. So I think they're releasing like staggered sections of it. So maybe I didn't yeah So maybe I didn't watch the whole thing because it was like 35 minutes the one that I watched what that was last Thursday or Friday and she doesn't talk about Blake: ⁓ it's not like the whole thing came out. Casey: Salt Lake City, like Housewives at all, or any of the cast members. And then I saw a clip of her talking about like how she's spoken to Meredith a couple of times. So I think they did like second segment, like the show and all that stuff. But mostly she talked about like life in prison and like what her day to day looked like when she was in there. She talks about her close friendship with Lizzie Holmes, Elizabeth Lizzie Holmes. And she talks a little bit about Ghislaine Maxwell arriving to the prison as well, which like they obviously just asked her like to You know like that's a big big headline like she basically was like didn't really know that much about her like they kept her separate from us like Blake: Right. Okay, but did you see, did you see, so Robert Garcia, who is the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee in Congress, he's the one that everyone, the congressman who did like the receipts, proof, timeline, screenshot, whatever, that was that gay guy in Congress. ⁓ But he, so because she said something about how like, Ghislaine has no remorse when she would see the victims on TV, like she had no remorse. Casey: ⁓ sure. Blake: So like, tagged house oversight and was like, y'all gotta look into this. And then he responded like, wait, we actually do. And he literally said, like he released a statement that they're gonna subpoena her to come before Congress to talk about Ghislaine Maxwell. So from Salt Lake City to the pen to Capitol Hill, Ms. Shaw, see how you can, your life can turn around in just one day, in just one day. Not that we condone what she did to the victims, but. Casey: No, of course not. Blake: It's just an observation about life. That's what I make. Casey: That's wild. But yeah, I mean, it was like, I think she did like a fine enough job with it for what it is and for what people think of her. But it was mostly, you know, just like word salad about, you know, prison and like. Blake: Mm-hmm. Right. Casey: what her life is like now and just kind of things that she realized, like her perspectives changed a bunch, you know, she's very grateful, all that good stuff. ⁓ She said her skincare tip in prison, which we'll share with the audience, is to buy hemorrhoid pads and put them on your face because they have witch hazel in them so they can actually... Blake: I would hope. I would hope. Casey: tone your face up a little bit. So if any of the MiyaPod listeners, hopefully not, end up behind bars, there's a tip for you. Blake: Yeah, and I mean if you are currently somehow listening in jail or slash prison, then you're welcome. Then you're welcome. And free the listener depending on what you did. Depending on what you did. So today we are going to be discussing, as you could have ascertained from the Easter egg that Casey left you guys 10 minutes ago, three minutes ago actually, we will be discussing Casey: And we love you and we'll free you. Maybe. Blake: Real Housewives of Atlanta, but specifically season five, specifically with an eye towards the impact, cultural and explosive impact that both Kenya and Portia's debut had on the show and the viewers. We are not talking about the season as a whole and anyone else's drama or any other storylines. We are mainly like literally we were just skipping to like their scenes to like be able to give you guys an accurate portrayal of like how their first season went and like and specifically like ranking I guess like rating discussing and rating like how great their debut performances were and obviously like we you know I think it's pretty much like widely accepted that they are amazing so we will probably be singing their praises but ⁓ Let's just dive straight into it, Miss Casey. Again, eye roll. Casey: Let's mention it all again. I mean, yeah, like you said, this is a debut of two of the greatest Housewives in one season. Within a couple episodes, they both come onto the scene. Impact, I would say, with both is immediately felt. Kenya's is a little bit more of a slamming impact. Yeah. Blake: to ever do it. slap in the face. Yeah. Casey: Portia is kind of more of a slow burn and Kenya's a little bit more of like, she's there and she's ready right when she arrives. But both of them, immediate impact, immediate presence. And beautiful, beautiful, beautiful women. Like, wow. Crazy. Blake: Yeah. Yeah, mean, ⁓ yeah, stunning. And I just think it's interesting. I mean, I think I've said this already. This is probably, I'm gonna say this like a million more times on this show, but it is always interesting to like, to like think about what you know about them now and then like try to envision like where they were at then and like their trajectory, like what the trajectory they would go on to become where they are at now. And I say that like mostly because I was so struck. and we'll get into it, but I was so struck by where Portia starts out as a housewife. And like now, she is dating a butch lesbian and has had like, you know, she obviously was dating ⁓ Simon and got a shit ton of money from him. ⁓ And I think Simon was her first husband after Cordell ⁓ or she had another one. Casey: No, Dennis. Well, did her and Dennis get, her and Dennis were married. Yeah. Were they not married? It, whatever. But it's, Cordell Dennis Simon in terms of like major. I think it's Sway or their Instagram is Sway the Pro. Blake: ⁓ my god, well like baby daddy or were they married? I don't think so. But like it's still major relationship. Then Simon and then now I don't know the girlfriend's name. Yeah, but it's just so crazy like to... ⁓ damn, pro at what? I guess we'll find out. Casey: Everything dating Porsche? Blake: That's true. I mean, that's that's like the prize of a lifetime anyway, but I just think it's crazy like to imagine that she she is there now ⁓ But and then Kenya I mean I have to say before we even get started on Kenya It took me a long time to warm up to her because like you said her her debut and for like the first couple seasons I feel she was not likeable and like not trying to be likable and I Casey: Yeah. Blake: I do look back and I see how like some things were misunderstood or spun to make her look worse than she was, but she didn't do herself any favors. Like- Casey: Right, she makes herself an easy target for the buildup of things and the group attacks that she'll get both from the ladies at times and the men later on in this season. So yeah, I think so too. Blake: Yeah. She kind of- Yeah, I mean, it's the men thing like always rubbed me the wrong way, but like some of the issues the women have with Kenya, like I'm sort of just like, mean, Kenya, you were acting manic. Like you were acting freaking crazy girl, Chica. Casey: She would be really triggered if she heard you just call her manic. You guys would be having words right now. Blake: Yeah, that's true, that's true. I didn't mean that in any sort clinical way. ⁓ Kenya, if you're listening, it does. Anyway, okay, let's just jump straight into this. I believe you have a great opening scene set for us. Casey: No, but that comes up later too. Yeah, well, in general on Housewives, I'm fascinated by the art of the introduction of a new housewife, of a friend. We have, you know, like, iconic introductions like... Tamra being Heather Dubrow's realtor on Orange County, stuff like that. So with Kenya, you have to note that she is introduced in a lunch scene with Miss Lawrence, who we know from earlier seasons, has been around since season one. Blake: You love obsessed. I Casey: Pretty early if not, season one, like season two, definitely three. So they're having lunch. So it's kind of like, hey, here's someone you know that isn't a housewife, but they're gonna bring in someone to show you that they have connections to this world. And they are ordering lunch and they have chicken queso soup and asparagus fries. And I was like, that kind of sounds good. ⁓ Blake: Yeah. down. I'm hungry. Casey: And then she's like, wait, let's get caviar. So they're having like a ball or a little lunch. They're enjoying a good meal. She just moved back. Blake: I'm sorry, what restaurant, sorry to interrupt, but what restaurant is selling chicken queso soup and caviar? Just asking. We don't even have to answer. I'm just asking. We don't know. Okay, and also, sorry, one more thing, just because it's like, I just found this out today. Miss Lawrence was supposed to be a housewife at some point. I didn't know that. Casey: We can answer, I don't think. I think we have to leave that one up in the air, actually. Yeah, I was just talking about this with a friend, Re... Men. having like a major role because we have a male, a primary male cast member on the New Ladies of London. So I was, you know, wondering what this friend's thoughts were. And she had brought up like, ⁓ remember when people really wanted like Dwight, Miss Lawrence ⁓ to have either an official friend of spot or even an official housewife spot. And that was like the only case where I think you could make that for anybody that like is a side character, a male side character for other housewife shows. I would not want husbands Blake: Yeah. Yeah. Casey: to become elevated. But in Atlanta, it could have worked for sure. Blake: No, they try hard enough, they try hard enough. Well, I think that like I agree that it shouldn't be common and I do also agree that not every like gay best friend kind of you know archetype needs to immediately have like a main role and I also think like it's rare that you even see and like ⁓ a gay guy who's part of the drama that like is even interesting like they usually I mean I feel like you can count on like one hand it's like Miss Lawrence obviously is what the main one the main person that comes to mind and I Also, Miss Lawrence had like this air of like androgyny and I feel like that was very like progressive at the time but also like, you know, I personally like did view Miss Lawrence as one of the girls. So, ⁓ I would have been totally fine with that. I mean, if you look at the ladies of London, like that guy, whatever his name is, he's not like, he dresses up in suits, he's just like a gay guy, you know what I mean? And he has a role. I don't think it should be common. I think it is like supposed to be a female ensemble cast, but I do think that like Casey: Yeah. Blake: a more female, feminine, like coded, like, you non-binary or like gay man who like is really ⁓ one of the girls, I think, who could make that argument. I would have loved to have seen it. ⁓ And I think honestly, if that was an option now, they would consider it. Casey: Yeah, I mean maybe and like clearly there's enough of an impact for that to be an introduction for a new housewife that again, this is someone that you know, so it's it's the proof is in the pudding. ⁓ But the way that they kind of bring Kenya into the fold with the ladies off of that is obviously Kenya is she introduces herself as a model, as an actress, ⁓ know, producer, director, etc. And Blake: She's everything. Casey: The big one is Miss USA, and she was actually the second black woman ever to be crowned Miss USA, which is pretty crazy and obviously pretty fab. Yeah. ⁓ So we get that, and then that kind of is like the... Blake: That's noteworthy. Yeah. Casey: buffer for Miss Lawrence to be like, you should help out, you know, Cynthia Bailey with her casting agency. Like she has ⁓ a pageant thing going on, you know, you could go and give some input. So that's what happens. Kenya goes to meet up with Cynthia and help out with, they're putting on like a pageant show, I believe, or accepting new models, something of the sort. And Kenya is like a second judge with Cynthia. Blake: I think, yeah, it's like some sort of show that they're putting on and they're casting specific type of model-esque girls and ⁓ Kenya's judging. think this is, correct me if I'm wrong, the first time Kenya is meeting Cynthia as she is helping to judge this show that the Bailey Agency is putting on. Wait, who is the random love is blind guy? Casey: Yes. it's like one of Cynthia's assistants on the set. He's from the first season of Love is Blind. He's one of the main guys on it. And he ends up getting engaged. think his name's Carlton. And he ends up getting engaged. So random lore piece. And he tells the woman that he gets engaged to that he's bisexual after the engagement. And she dumps him. Because. Blake: ⁓ Casey: It was a lie, she said. Anyways, but he's there. If you go back and you look at the scene, he's there. Blake: I mean, I just, that's how you know that this is a podcast put on by experts in reality TV, in the space of reality TV, because how tapped into, how much of a couch potato do you have to be to know that some freaking guy from Love is Blind is also helping out Cynthia Bailey in season five of Rojasas of Atlanta at her casting? Like, I'm sorry, I mean, I'm obsessed with that. Casey: Wait, I know that guy. Mind you, season one of Love is Blind was a long time ago too. And I've thought this before. I've been like, wait, you. Blake: hahaha No, I know, I mean. I've also definitely, I'm not even gonna lie, like I've clocked people in the background of how I was, I, this is, there's no way to prove this unfortunately, but I was one of the first, if not the first, to have clocked Dorinda as a background character in early Roni at like one of Jill's like arthritis charity events. Like I'm not saying I was the first, I could have been, nobody's, nobody, nobody knows really, but. Casey: So true. No, claim it, claim it. I mean, I think until someone wants to fight you for it. Yeah. Blake: I mean, I'm going to unless someone wants to, if someone wants to speak up, I mean, that means you have to listen to our podcast. So I mean, I challenge you to become a listener, but I just wanted to let the listener know that this is, this is some good shit. This is some, this is some academic level podcasting. All right. So yeah, so this is the first time that Kenya is meeting Cynthia and I just have to say, wow, that's how you make an introduction. That's how you make a first impression. Casey: Boom. Absolutely. Yeah, she shows up and she like really thinks. She's giving Tyra Banks cosplay at this pageant judging. She's acting like she's literally at ANTM. She is talking to these younger, mostly younger girls, under 18. We're not working with real models. And she's being so rude to them. There's this one girl who is probably a size eight, an average body type at age 15. And Kenya is literally like, what are you doing here? I don't even know why you Blake: She's trying hard. Casey: showed up, like you should probably just go home, like you're really not in the condition. And the big issue she has is with this one girl who is showing, showing a little crack. Blake: Yeah She was wearing like a bikini and the bikini like I wouldn't I wouldn't even characterize it as like she was intentionally showing crack I feel like it just was like that was the fit of the bikini I don't think she it was like you needed to like roast her over a fire over it like it was but so she like She first of all mind you like before she even gets to this she is Like you can tell she's making these like mean mug faces and then in her confessionals, she said this one thing she was like, I guess this one with this one girl looked kind of like ⁓ more masculine, I guess. she in her confessional, she goes, she was like, I was looking for the Adam's apple on that one girl. Like she's just like reading these women who are like trying out and like, like they are literally just regular, like they're all good looking, but like some of them just have like different styles, whatever. She is being so nasty and very vocal. Casey: Yeah. Yeah. Blake: Like this is the first time you're reading Cynthia and she is like spitting venom at all these people being unprofessional and rude. And then so this, this butt crack girl walks down the runway, turns around and you can see her like a little bit of crack, little bit of crack and Kenya is, she loses it. She is, she starts screaming like, she's like, what do you mean butt crack? Like that's, we're not doing any, like she, I don't even remember what she was saying, but she was like, She made a scene. Casey: No, she's livid. She's so offended. Like she's like, this is so offensive to me personally. Like you could not come to these auditions and show coochie crack. Like that's not how we do things. Coochie crack. Like she's, and Cynthia has a confessional and she's like, coochie crack, coochie crack, coochie crack. She needs to stop saying coochie crack at my auditions. And it's a lot. Blake: ⁓ yeah. Wait, let me play... Let me play the clip. Casey: She said, I thought this was a classy party. Blake: I'm offended. No, but like you can get just from that one clip, like the energy, like the level that she was at during this entire thing. She's like screaming, she's taking things personally, she's mad. She's like causing a scene, people are uncomfortable. She is literally, she's just causing such a scene. And like literally ⁓ one of Cynthia's like staff team, whatever comes over. Casey: Yeah. Blake: and is basically like you... ⁓ that's the guy? It's the one who, the one that she gets into a beef with? That's... Well, Carlton, sorry, I should have named him correctly. Say his name. ⁓ He comes over and he's literally like, he's like, okay, you're like, you're doing too much, like you need to calm down or whatever. And she goes, who are you and why are you talking to me? And like, he literally then obviously he gets triggered and he starts fighting with her and then she's fighting with, like they're fully... Casey: It's Carlton. It's love is blind Carlton. Yes. Yes. Yeah, come on, say his name. Blake: fighting with each other and then Kenya goes, security, security, take him out and they're like, what the, the fuck do you mean security? She's like, I'm a public figure. I always have security with me. Okay. And she's actually trying to get this man ejected from his own event. Casey: Right, like a security man pops up, like she did bring security. He comes out of nowhere, like. Blake: Hehehehehe Casey: just out of the shadows comes this like big guy like she had somebody with her definitely does not have it with her all the time like you know what our our delusional queen is is here and on the scene ⁓ and Cynthia's like annoyed by this but as we know about Cynthia she's kind and forgiving and isn't gonna make a huge deal but you know she's kind of like okay noted on first impression this isn't amazing but we'll see ⁓ and then Blake: He's... huge. Huge. No. Yeah Yeah, she's... she's wary, she's like... Yeah, so they honestly like move on and barely any consequences for Kenya for, you know, trying to have a man. Casey: No. She hasn't met everybody else yet. And then before she meets more people than Cynthia, we get introduced to Portia in a one-on-one with Kenya. So it's like they build up these blocks. Like, you know, we had Kenya, Miss Lawrence, Kenya, Cynthia. ⁓ Kenya, Portia. And then they're both going to be hard launched into the group broader. Blake: ⁓ my god. Yeah, and I will say like Kenya didn't even try to like Porsche like it is so they're meeting up for lunch We don't we barely know who Porsche is like we've gotten like nothing so far. They're meeting up for lunch and Porsche so Porsche Her whole thing immediately is like she's a woman of charity Casey: No. Blake: She's married, she's a woman of God, like she's sort of a kept woman, she doesn't really work. Her husband, Cordell, ⁓ is a retired NFL player and he kind of covers everything financially. But her grandfather, Jose Williams, was in the Civil Rights Movement, he's like an icon, so she helps run his charity. ⁓ She just is like putting on this like, have the perfect life and I do it all and I'm just like the perfect woman, perfect wife. ⁓ So they sit down. Casey: Yeah. Blake: And Porsche is asking Kenya, or yeah, Porsche is asking Kenya if Kenya can make an appearance at a charity event for her grandfather's, great grandfather's, grandfather's charity, ⁓ because she's Miss, ⁓ my God, I don't want to piss Kenya off, Miss USA. Yes, okay, I got it right. I will get into, we'll get into that later, but I mean, don't, who the fuck knows? Anyway, so like, Casey: She's Miss USA. I'm like pretty sure. Right. Blake: Immediately they're sitting down and I think because Kenya thought this was gonna be like a business lunch of sorts like she's asking her like can you please come to my charity she thought it was gonna be like straight just business which is also kind of ridiculous because it's like but you also know you're filming a TV show together so it's like Casey: That's was my thought. Okay, Kenya, we get it. You wanna position yourself as above most of these women, at least in attitude, especially Portia. Immediately there's this divide. But yeah, Kenya, you're right. She is determined. She is not there to have a good time. Portia pretty quickly is like, I'd love for you to come to this event. Kenya's like, great. And then Portia is immediately talking about personal stuff. She's like, oh, what's your life like? Blake: No. She makes the cardinal error of just trying to get to know Kenya. Right. She asks her like... Casey: Like she just wants to have a key and have a friend and Kenya is not having it. And they sit down and Kenya's like, this is cute, it's like a cafeteria. I'm like, okay. So this is gonna go bad. This is not gonna go well. Blake: It's like, right, like we're just gonna start immediately complaining about everything. And Portia, it's just, you know, like I guess questions that women, you know, who are like in their 30s, 40s, like ask each other, like she's asking her like, are you married? You know, do you want kids? Like blah, blah, that kind of stuff. And can you get so offended? Like she is like, she's like, oh my, like, you we just sat down and now you're trying to get to know everything about me and it's like, you mean like she's trying to get to know if you have a husband or not? Like is that like, I mean I think like she was clearly like, she was projecting because she, I think that's a sore spot for her is that she does want to be married and have a kid. But, and I will also say like Portia is really oblivious to the fact that like she doesn't know how she comes across. So I think that Portia, doesn't realize like she's sort of bragging about her life to Kenya. I don't think it was intentional, but she's over here being like, like, you know, oh, do you have kids? Like, for example, like me and Cordell, my husband, like we really want kids. And I think I'm going to have one in the next year. And she starts like ranting about her life. And it's, I don't think it's meant to be like a one-up situation, but I think Kenya sort of takes it that way. Um, on top of the fact that she just like, doesn't feel like Portia has earned the right to know whether she might want children at some point. Casey: Yeah, I mean like also I think logistically Kenya is definitely a smart lady and is a smart lady about how she plays her ⁓ Like housewife persona from day one that she shows up. I think she's smart about her housewife persona that she crafts ⁓ So also it's a pretty smart idea to immediately kind of start hinting at a feud with the other newbie because hopefully you come out on top and just knock them out of the game all together or you get to have this fight and not piss off the OGs. So it's not like you have to have a beef with NeNe Leakes, because that's not a wise strategy for your first season. So it makes sense to have an issue with Portia, and I think that's definitely a factor. And because you're right, everything that Kenya wants is a family, a child, and Portia is constantly being like, I have a marriage, I'm gonna have a child, what do you have? So it's a little bit of a soft subject, and there's already ⁓ Blake: It gives you a storyline. Right. That's not gonna end well. Yeah. Casey: a breeding ground for conflict between them. So like they're ready, they're ready to go. Blake: But I will also say to give Kenya some credit, ⁓ Portia also is trying to solve problems that don't necessarily exist. I do feel like she is not just being like, you want kids? But then she suddenly is trying to push this Chinese fertility specialist onto Kenya, kind of sort of being like, ⁓ we can make it happen if you want a baby. If I was just meeting somebody, I'd be like, what are you talking about right now? And let's play that clip. Casey: Don't even get me started on how the Chinese calendar works now. I don't, I don't know. Blake: Don't ask me any questions about the thing I just brought up to you that I apparently like don't know anything about. Okay, cool. I mean, you can see the tension. You can feel the tension. Like Kenya's just like, okay. Casey: I love her so much. Like, that's the kind of person that I am where like I'm not picking up on the shade. I'm like having too much of a laugh over whatever subject I just brought up. I'm like the Chinese calendar. Like, and Kenya clearly is like hating her throughout every second of this. Blake: Hehehehehe Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. She's like, I don't even fucking want this salad anymore. Like I'm leaving and also Porsche does ask her to bring the sash and tiara to the event and Kenya straight up is like absolutely not like I'm this isn't a clown show Anyway, so yeah, we we kind of went into this already we get like the actual clip the actual like kit of Porsche's debut where they like introduce her whatever it basically Casey: Yeah, she's fab, she's cute, she's in a weird marriage, that's really all you get. Blake: You can tell, yeah, can tell she's like a little spacey. ⁓ Kenya, Kenya Phaedra, happy moments, two minutes. Casey: Can you and Fanger have a one-on-one? of early on, like a couple episodes in and you know, this is them meeting each other and they are laughing, they're having a great time. They're like, I think I like her, both of them mutually and like literally like when does that, it ends within four more episodes and then they are never friends again. So like that's that. But what's important about this one-on-one besides the fact that it's their one happy scene together across every season ever is that Bhaedra tells her that she is planning Blake: Yeah You Casey: a workout video centered around her her donkey booty so important because obviously this well I guess obvious or not obviously this becomes a point of contention so it's important that Phaedra brings this up so early on she's had this idea she's got a lovely a lovely arse if I if I can say so respectfully so it's not it's a good idea awesome Blake: Yeah. I think you're allowed. And, Kenya, you're welcome for the permission. And Kenya ⁓ has a production company, which, okay. When she started off, she just listed every fucking job in the world. So allegedly she has a production company, so they're like, cool, we'll do that. And then Kenya also does really dive into her mommy issues, trauma. And I think that just is important because I do see how... Casey: Yeah Yeah. Blake: the like abandonment situation does really inform who she is. So at times I do feel a little bit like I can feel for her when she's acting a fool because I'm like, I can't even imagine what's going on in your brain right now. ⁓ But anyway, we go to the infamous charity event that they had that lovely lunch about. ⁓ so I would say ⁓ if Phaedra in Kenya had Casey: to the charity event. Blake: two minutes of happy moments, Portia and Kenya had 30 seconds. Maybe 20, because they had that lunch that was the first time ever Portia was on camera with Kenya. then Kenya shows up to this charity event. It's like outside in a tent. And Kenya walks in, up the driveway into the tent. She sits down. Immediately she starts complaining about it's too cold in here. Meanwhile, I guess it's like Casey: Yes, quite literally. Blake: 90 degrees, it's like summer outside, so that's why they have the AC on. ⁓ So let's just, I'm just gonna play the clip so you guys know exactly what happened. Casey: Yeah. Blake: Okay. Casey: Miss America 1990. Blake: 19...6...197...1950? She's like whatever the fuck. Also, okay, first of all, I don't know the difference. I don't think really anybody does. I don't know why you'd be offended and I feel like Portia was so clearly like, oh my god, I'm so sorry. Like she wasn't trying to humiliate her or whatever. Casey: Well, that's what's awful and great about this moment is if it was probably anybody else, you might think it was shade, but it's clearly not shade. Portia just doesn't know. She's just naive. She's just laughy. She's like, ⁓ my God, no big deal. Miss USA. I mean, and who would? It's not like she's missing some crucial piece of information that we all know. Blake: Right. Yeah, exactly. Or she just doesn't know better. I d- I mean, I'm sorry, she's just there to like, you know, make like an appearance, like to add some like credence to the event. I don't know. It's not that, not that big of a deal. And Kenya does, sorry, I'm burping. Kenya does say in her conventional, she's like, this is exactly like if you forgot which country Michelle Obama was the first lady of. Okay. I don't know about that. I don't know about that. Casey: Ooh. Yeah, I don't... Well, that's not... Blake: That's kind of a different situation. But sure, you can just immediately, like you immediately like can see, I'm like the fucking, what is this, episode three? Like you're like, okay, this Kenya, this Kenya character is a little bit, her head's a little bit inflated. Casey: Well, mind you, I just looked it up to see what the difference actually is. I mean, why I would imagine Kenya is offended is it seems like Miss USA is a little bit more like it can go on to Miss Universe. Like that's the one that's like kind of more like famous, I'd say. But. Miss USA is for profit and is a beauty competition like for like just accolades and like worldly renowned. Miss America is nonprofit and is mostly for scholarships and like school related and job related things. So really, maybe she should pipe down. Like it sounds like maybe the other one's better. Blake: I was... I just... like... Clearly she thinks Miss USA is more prestigious and I will- I have to be so honest with you, I really don't give a fuck. It's- Casey: I was just gonna say, mean, like, statement of the matter is who cares? Like, Porsche doesn't care, we don't care. Blake: No, exactly. In conclusion, Kenya, you've been ended. Casey: And like, we already gave, like we said earlier, Kenya is, that's sick that she is like the second black woman to have this achievement. But messing up a title in this way is not a big deal, especially when you didn't want to bring your sash, you didn't want it to be a big deal. So why are you now mad? Blake: Right! It's like... You have nobody even, nobody knows. You can't label yourself with the sash, so then how are we supposed to remember? It's a name tag. Sorry. Take it easy, girl. Absolutely. So, Kenya is so, so insulted by this. So she immediately gets up and leaves, and she's like, I'm leaving the event. Like, I can't, I cannot be somewhere where my title has been... Casey: Agreed. Team Porsche on this first argument for sure. Blake: Confused with another title that is essentially almost the same but a little bit different and I am leaving So she goes out onto the curb. She calls miss Lawrence And she says like she's like I'm standing outside of this so-called event and this heffa gets on the microphone and I actually didn't even see that you wrote this on the notes, but I was I just thought about it when we first When that word first came up during our Potomac recap and you were like Casey: You Blake: Are we allowed to say heifer? And I was like, I'm pretty sure it just means cow. Like I don't think it's like a thing, but I understand it's like, it's kind of like a foreign, like it's not a word you bring up a ton. So it's like. Casey: You Yeah, so when it gets said it sounds a little worse than other words. I'm like, ⁓ like what do you mean? But she does she does bring it up Blake: Right, right. And I will say it only it She does yeah, yeah, ⁓ so So like porsche comes out because she's like, why are you why are you being weird? Like why are you standing on the curb? Like what's happening? Are you good? And ⁓ basically kenya just goes in on her like I thought that was disrespectful and ⁓ they start getting into it and then basically porsche porsche is like i'm gonna have to ask you to leave like you're at this point like you're being ridiculous and kenya is like Casey: Right, what's going on? Blake: Kenya's like, you can't ask me to leave if I was already leaving and it's just like this it's like ridiculous. It's also kind of it's like true She's right. Like I was leaving first, but then they get into this like then Porsche immediately She's like, okay Loki who cares like who cares what your title is? I don't even really know the difference like it's not that big of a deal and Kenya's like Google me and Purses says Google you Casey: Which like, she is right. Blake: How? It's not even in the search engine because she's like, you're so old like Google wouldn't have any information on you. And then Kenya starts doing this thing where she's like, know, Portia is a wife of, granddaughter of, like she has nothing, you know, that she can actually claim for herself. like immediately we are getting into like very below the belt territory of just like vicious, you know, they're not going to be friends this season is what you take away. Casey: right. Yeah, and we said it a little bit during their lunch, but Kenya's doing like the opposite of breaking the fourth wall. Like she's putting the fourth wall back up. Brick by brick because like she's pretending like we don't know that they are they've been told they're gonna be housewives together like it hasn't been announced months before filming like you know who this is you've certainly looked her up like you know there's cameras behind you like she's fighting with her being like I don't know who this woman is like we had one business lunch like this is ridiculous like okay like come on now Blake: Right. She came out of nowhere. right. The meta, the like meta thought process of a housewife, like having to ignore the like fact that you are in fact working on a project and pretend like it is like life is unfolding in front of you in a very natural way. I do find that to be very fascinating to think about whenever you're considering like the things they'll say, like, like she said, ⁓ like, I don't know who this woman is. It's like, You definitely, when the cast was announced, you Googled Portia Williams, you knew who her grandfather was. It's just really interesting to think about them having to pretend like they're not on a show for the show. You know what I mean? Like that's like cat hair flying around in my camera. Anyway, so yeah, they are, they are, Casey: Yeah Yeah, it ends badly. She leaves. They're just not on good terms. They don't see each other again until they go on the first cast trip of the season, I'm pretty sure. So we get a good period of time where they don't talk about this. it's just, you know, it's kind of overhanging. Blake: Yeah. And then this is also when we explore the two minutes of Phaedra and Kenya being friends. And Phaedra and her husband Apollo, Kenya and her...situationship? Walter? Going on a double date. Kenya immediately is kind of just like... I think she finds Phaedra's husband to be very attractive. I will grant her this, Apollo is good looking. ⁓ Casey: Yeah. Right, but she needs to chill out. Like she knows she needs to chill out. Again, it's just one of those things like you know you can't do. Blake: It's... You like again and that's the thing that like, you know Kenya comes across so like thorny because it's like she loves to do Things that like anyone would kind of just be like what the frick are you doing right now? Like you're flirting with this man's husband this is so they continue talking about the like Donkey booty workout that they're gonna do the video Casey: Yeah, it's like now like an official idea that they might collaborate on this workout video that Phaedra and Apollo have a vision and Kenya has this production company, so why not work together? So it's in talks. You know, this is just another way of like creating her some further storylines, connections within the group. And... I think like another weird thing about Kenya with Apollo and like some of the other men in general that we'll see when they go on their cast trip is like she like puts on this kind of like crazy like party girl like I like am so fun like and wild like and it's like it's okay like these are your friends husbands and boyfriends like you don't need to be doing this for them like that's strange so she does act really weird and this only continues on when they they go Blake: No, yeah, she- Casey: on a cast trip to Anguilla. ⁓ But before we go there, Portia meets Nini and Cynthia, which is also a scene. Blake: Portia meets Nini and Cynthia and I have to say, Casey, I don't think that you clipped this one. Casey: ⁓ I have it on my phone, but I didn't put it in there. Blake: No, that's totally fine. We can reenact it. Porsche, Porsche invites, ⁓ Cynthia and Nene to, to come to her house. And she was like, I would really love if you guys could do some charity event, whatever. Cause you know, you're, you're big women. Like people know you, you're like amazing, whatever. Also they, I mean, you're women who are women with a, with a large presence. How about that? And, Casey: You're big women. Blake: And they also get some shit talking in about Kenya. Cynthia's like, ⁓ she was crazy to me too. It's interesting that she was crazy to you as well. And Portia is explaining what her charity does. Her grandfather's charity that she helps run and they feed the hungry. And she's saying like, you know, this isn't just we do this on Thanksgiving, you know, like this is like a 265 days a year thing. And Nini just starts cackling in her confessional. She's like, that... is funny and then she says she says where the hell this bitch lives 265 days a year Casey: This is 265 days a year. And she was basically just trying to say like, we're giving every day, but obviously didn't quite, didn't quite nail the, the days there. There's about a hundred days that she's taking off, which is fine. We're gonna take rest, rest queen. Blake: every day. the calendar portion. That's fine, think, I believe in, I believe in vacation time, PTO, whatever you wanna call it, ⁓ but, but I don't think that's what she intended to be saying. ⁓ And I have to say- Casey: Right, but they meet her, NeNe likes her, like NeNe's like, I'm a good judge of character, like I like this girl, and that's how she gets the invite to the cast trip. I mean, obviously she was gonna get the invite anyways, but that's how the storyline gets her on the cast trip. Blake: Right. Right, and I will say, very early for them to be going on a cast trip. It's like episode six, but they go to Anguilla. Is it Anguilla? Is it Anguilla? Like, I don't know. Anyway. They say Anguilla. Casey: They say Anguilla, it's a couples trip. Kim Zolciak is supposed to come, but she does not, which is why Porsche gets the invite, because they have an extra room. Blake: ⁓ Wait, yeah, Kim is... Kim is... ⁓ Kim is ⁓ this is the season I forgot about this that kim is still on the cast but like she really is not interested in filming and like she quits like seven episodes in or something like she's just Casey: No, like five. mean, because she tells them she's not going to go on this trip and that she doesn't want to film and then she's done. So that's that. We go to Anguilla. ⁓ Obviously, everyone is with their partner. Kenya brings Walter. Portia's with Cordell. ⁓ Blake: Yeah. Casey: Everyone else is with their boyfriends and husbands. Apollo is there, Phaedra, Nini, Greg, ⁓ Cynthia and Peter. And they arrive and from the moment they set down, it's pretty clear. Kenya makes it clear that she is thinking she will get a proposal on this trip or that she wants one or that, you know, she's trying to like manifest it. It appears because it doesn't seem like there's evidence that it's coming. Blake: Yeah, I mean, it's again, was like if you had seen any ⁓ scene with her and Walter up until this point, I don't know why you would think that he was going to propose marriage to her, especially because every scene between them. So Walter is the guy that she's dating and. Every scene between them is like she wants to get married, she wants kids, and he just looks so uncomfortable at the very concept of any of those things. It's... Casey: They have no chemistry and she's out mugging him so bad in every single scene it actually pisses me off. He's so ugly, he's like not cute at all. It's actually really annoying. No, it's a bad situation. ⁓ Blake: Yeah, he's he's so ugly it's And he doesn't even treat her well, he doesn't even treat her well like Bro Casey: But they go to the airport. I love these ladies so much. The airport outfits and like their demeanors of how they get there. Kenya is in a orange bodycon dress and like a sickening heel for this airport journey, which is crazy to wear to the airport in general, also, also, ⁓ going to like the... Blake: Yes. Casey: Caribbean like where you like you know you're not like it's gonna be hot like you're gonna be like getting in like a little taxi out of the airport and like going to where you're going like You do not want to be in that heel that whole that whole beginning way But she completely ignores Porsche when she gets there Porsche's like I'm fine with that for now like whatever like let's just let it go and they get there and they have to like take a boat to where they're staying and Kenya is like Blake: No. Casey: given the helm of the boat for some reason. And like that sets the tone for the whole trip. She's acting like a loon. Like they're going so fast. She's screaming, Phaedra, happy moments included in the two minutes. It's like, it Kenya, crank it up Kenya. And the rest of them look terrified. Like they look like that video of that family where they're on the boat and they all like go flying to the side. That's what it looks like when they're arriving to Angola. Blake: Hahaha YAY! Casey: And like, okay Kenya, like whatever girl. Blake: This is, yeah, that was probably like where we maybe wrap up. Well, this is when we start to get into rocky territory ⁓ with Phaedra and Kenya because... So as we were talking about how Kenya really like has a thing for Apollo, Phaedra's husband, ⁓ they're at the pool and like... Casey: Yeah. Blake: Apollo's in the pool or Apollo's like he's in the pool and he gets out of the pool and then Kenya pushes him in the pool and then he gets out and grabs her and they jump in the pool together like it's just so inappropriate Casey: Like actually don't piss me off. Like I'm getting pissed off just thinking about it. Like what's wrong with the two of you about Apollo and yeah. Blake: What do you mean? The two of you, both of you are in timeout. Excuse me. And Phaedra is like honestly keeping her cool even though she's clearly pissed off. But I don't understand, like especially because Kenya has been good with Phaedra, why would you, like I don't know if she like is doing this because she wants to be a villain or if she genuinely like is not aware that this is like extremely inappropriate. I would find it very difficult to believe that she's an. Casey: Yeah. I feel like she wants to be a villain and she like actually is just like attracted to him and a little bit. I don't want to say this word, but I'm already here. And I think she's a little bit desperate for male validation and attention. So for him to be the hottest guy in the room, for her, she needs that attention. That type of flirting with guys that are taken is such a pick-me-girl behavior. We were just playing around. I just picked him up and threw him in the pool. Okay. Stop. Literally stop. Blake: No. What do you... No, no. So yeah, basically, Phaedra... It's so annoying. And so she... Yeah. And so she like claps back by wearing this fierce outfit, honey. Let's play the clip. Casey: That's dust that it's so annoying and Phaedra is rightfully annoyed. Like everyone is like what is going on? Blake: And so if you're listening and not watching, she's wearing this mesh swimsuit, mesh body cover up that you'd wear to the beach, then a high rise thong ⁓ swimsuit type thing, so her butt is just out. Casey: and did. Like cover up, yeah. Yeah, you can't even like say cheeky like it's like it's like literally a it's a g-string bathing suit like it's so cheeky. It's her whole butt Blake: It's Yeah, it's her entire butt is just out and it's covered by these like mesh little holes. And she looks amazing. She looks amazing. It's like a subtle sort of like back off, back off. Don't come around here being foolish like that. You wrote Kenya bootying down on Peter. Casey: She looks amazing. Yeah She was booting down on Peter. didn't know how else to put it because she was like... Touching her toes like bootying down on Peter like shaking arse on to Peter's groin region and Cynthia's like on the back side of Peter like why are you not in reverse roles if you were gonna be doing that to someone's husband anyways? So Kenya's just like being inappropriate like Cynthia doesn't really like see this, Portia brings it up to her later and is a little bit like Kenya's really like a little crazy. Blake: Right. And mind you, that Walter is watching all of this. Not only is she flirting with other people's husbands, Walter is seeing her flirt with people who are not him. So it's like... Casey: Right there, right there. And there's like a... like a property manager that like shows up like to like probably like say hi to them and like welcome them like because they're in like a big house and she starts hitting on the property manager like right in front of Walter and she's like not even just like regularly hitting on this man like you know you look like a nice man like would you like to have a drink she's like have you ever donated to any sperm banks around here like I'd love to like like what are we talking about in her man that she wants a proposal from allegedly is one one So like she's on one. I don't know if she's like really drunk or like this was just like in her mind to like go do all this, but it's a lot. Blake: Like. I she has to, like, think alcohol has to play some role in this behavior. But she also, I think, is just, like, feral for, like, a relationship, for, like, a man to want her back and want, a family. I mean, so, but then it's also, like, she goes over to Apollo and she says, or no, she goes over to Phaedra, sorry, she goes over to Phaedra and she says, Casey: Yeah. Blake: For Apollo's birthday, which two of your friends would you give him a pass for? And just mere hours after you and him were playing footsie in the fucking pool, now you're gonna go over and be like, ⁓ of your friends are you okay with him fucking? Okay, so now you're building a case against yourself. Now you're building a case. Casey: And she makes this weird thing of like, first of all, questions out of nowhere. Second of all. There's actually like a million things you could say about this. But second of all, do you mean give two of your friends to Apollo? Like yay, ⁓ Cynthia and Nini, like you guys are go, go with Apollo. Like come on. Like it's such a weird question. Everyone is like, what are you talking about? Peter looks really weirded out. Phaedra is obviously really weirded out. Everyone's kind of like, okay, no, like we're not answering that. Like, but it's just further like, ⁓ fuel on the fire. Like she's, she's rage baiting them. Like she's rage Blake: Right. You're up. You're up. Casey: Fajra and usually Portia. Like it's those two the most but she also takes jabs throughout the season at Cynthia. Not really at Candy or NeNe I'd say. There was like probably a little bit more of like a respect thing there at least in this season. But like she just is like just trying to piss anybody off I think for like that like status of like fiery newbie like ⁓ here she comes like battling it out. Blake: She has to be. Yeah, it's just so hard as a viewer to like, to think that way when you're just seeing someone be so insane. You're just like, ⁓ my god, this woman. Casey: Right, it's hard to like love her, right? I mean, unless that's your type of housewife, because some people like really do like that like explosive type that like, you know, they're not looking for these people to be empathetic and like be making friends with all the girls. They want someone who is gonna show up and fight on TV because it's entertaining. So like, I get it. It's entertaining. Kenya's entertaining, like even when it's annoying me, but I think like I end up, I end up. Blake: That's true. That's true. Casey: turning away from her because it can be a little too much for me personally. Although I always appreciate and respect her work and her efforts because that's what makes a show a lot of the time. ⁓ That's also how you, I think, can mess up a show as we see in her downfall in regular life. But ⁓ it's good. It's good stuff for the most part, even when it's annoying. Blake: Yeah. You Yeah, that's true. essentially everyone, so as you know, as we've just mentioned, like everyone is sort of like wondering the same thing. Like, so you're, you know, your man Walter's on this trip and, but you guys are not being affectionate. You're not like no PDA. So like, are you in a relationship? Like Nini is like, your relationship seems fake and... ⁓ Kenya is like so defensive about this even though it's like, you know, I think that's a fair question given the fact that like you are up on everyone else's man, but not your own. And he doesn't seem to really care that much. Casey: No, like not, he's like barely there. He's like barely a person. he's AI generated. Like I have nothing to say about that guy, but they're ⁓ like throughout the show. I thought this was kind of funny. They're like. Blake: He is barely a person. Casey: I would imagine if you're watching this in real time, the episode would end and it would be next week on Real Housewives of Atlanta. And it starts showing previews of the next episode and it's a ring being slid on a finger and it's a clip of Kenya being like, does this mean I'm a bride? And then it cuts to black. It's literally Kenya saying, does that mean I'm a bride? made for Cynthia and Peter's Val Renue. Like the editors are so shady. Like they are editing this like there's an actual real chance that Kenya might get a proposal on this trip. And then you're watching it you're like, where? Like where is it gonna come from? Blake: haha hahaha I know. You're like, is not a chance in hell she's leaving this married or engaged or whatever. sorry. But yeah, like, Porsche, mean, Peter is planning a Val renewal for Cynthia on this trip, whatever, it doesn't really fucking matter. ⁓ And they all start rehashing the Kenya Porsche drama. I don't even remember how it came up. I think it was like, Casey: No. No interest. Blake: They were acting pretty cordial on this trip, but then I think someone just kinda mentioned like y'all didn't really have a great like, y'all didn't get off... ⁓ for sure. Casey: Yeah, it was probably like some ghost producing low-key. Like it was kind of like, wait, what happened again? Like when you guys had that huge big blowout fight that like hasn't been mentioned in seven episodes. Blake: Right. The fight that was like kind of extremely important and really entertaining that like for some reason you guys don't want to talk about, I guess let's talk about it. Casey: So they talk about it and it goes as horrible as you think. Like it's the same thing again. Blake: Yeah, mean, Portia is just explaining it to Nini, but then she also makes a note to say, Kenya wasn't an honored guest, she was just there to be among other accomplished women, which, to be honest, like, I know that's, it sounds shady, but I think that's exactly like the way that she asked her. Like, she didn't say we're gonna... She was just at a table among other women who allegedly are accomplished, like, I mean, I don't know why she thought it was about her. Casey: That's exactly the way that she asked her and like... And even Kenya said, like when Porch to kind of jokingly was like, are you gonna bring your sash? And Kenya was like, no, like you can't afford that. Like that you would need an appearance fee for that. So there was even a joke about like what it would be if it was an appearance and like, this is not what that was. So again, strange to get so mad about the title thing when she didn't have to say anything about you. Like you could have just sat there. Like she didn't have to introduce you at all. Like, so. Blake: Right. Riot. and they get into beef, they start fighting, they are screaming, ⁓ pfff, Porsche says to Kenya, you're 40, as if that's like, that's- Casey: And that's like what like, they're like fighting, but that's what it really goes bad is you're a 40. Blake: sets her off. That's when she was like, don't you dare call me 40. Don't you dare come from my age of 40, which is a pretty still young, like you're not, nobody would consider you old. And it is. Casey: It's kind of funny though. It's like nasty, but it's funny. It's a good little segment. Kenya calls Portia a bitch a lot. Blake: I always love an age, I love an age like, spar with like a housewife. Like I feel like it just always is gonna get someone mad. Like it's a good one. But yeah, Kenya's calling Portia a bitch, a tom, which also activates her. and like, I forgot what it even was about. ⁓ but Portia says something like, maybe if I was alive back when you got your title, maybe I would know. Or maybe, I think that's what she was saying. Like the diff, like the difference between USA and America. Casey: Yeah Like know the difference, yeah. Blake: She's like, maybe if I was alive back when you got your title I'd know. Wait, what is this? You want to tell a Chinese man? What? Casey: It's really good stuff. Portia then says, she's talking about the hotel manager who like was an Asian man. I think that he says he's Filipino, not Chinese, but Portia's still thinking about that Chinese calendar, I guess. she's like, you're telling a Chinese man you want to have his baby in front of your man? Like, what are we talking about? And Kenya's like, read a book, go read a book. Blake: Right. You You Casey: Like it's so nasty and it's so nonsensical. Yeah Blake: It gets so bad, they have to be physically separated. They have to be physically separated and then for some reason, like, nobody's like really separate, like nobody's physically like restraining Portia so she just runs back over to Kenya as like everyone's calming down and then restarts it all and Nini basically like screams at everyone to calm the fuck down and this is when we get the iconic Casey: as she does. Blake: Okay. She's just, she keeps twirling. Where did that come from? I'm gone with the wind fabulous. Bitch, is it movie night? Casey: So much to say about that. Well, first of all, the way that she starts it with like a blank look in her eye, like she's kind of like, let me say this. And then goes on this like whole thing, the silence while it's happening, like the lack of background music. Phaedra's like, all right now, like, yes, like, yes. Okay, preach it, preach it. Blake: Alright, okay, wherever that came from, alright. Casey: Like, Cynthia and NeNe are just... have nothing to say, like, I mean, I guess what do you say? I would probably be the same way, like, yeah. Blake: They have nothing. Nini just saying like, anyway, can we talk about this? Whatever the fuck you just said, like we're moving on. Nobody knows what that means. And then she starts just twirling around. I'm like, so, okay. That's just your thing now, I guess, is that you twirl. I mean, sure. you know, I mean, she really is approaching this. Casey: So funny. Blake: the right way as a housewife. She's brand building this whole season, you know, good. Yeah, good for her. Casey: She's creating moments. So again, it's job security. She came in and was ready to pay that rent. She was booking her job. Yeah, and she's also single. fair enough. It's not like she has Cordell at home controlling her like Portia does. So she needs that check. ⁓ But yeah, that's really all there is to say about Anguilla. Blake: Rat was due. Rat was due. ⁓ She's a hard-working woman. Clock, clock. So we leave Anguilla. We leave Anguilla and so now we are back in the ⁓ ATL and Phaedra and Kenya, as the Donkey Booty video project progresses, ⁓ guess Kenya ends up getting Phaedra a distribution deal and she says, just want 10 % of your sales, your total revenue. ⁓ And Phaedra doesn't want that to happen. So... Casey: Yeah. Blake: Kenya scraps the whole thing and then they start really beefing ⁓ about that deal. But then we find out that not only did she scrap the project, she is now doing a stallion booty workout video, ⁓ which obviously everyone is just like, you're copying Phaedra, like that's shady. Like obviously you're doing this as like a jab. And she basically says like, no, the deal was on the table since I got it. and I just chose to run with it. So I'm not gonna leave money on the table, which I see that, but then also don't act like it's not somewhat shady though. Like you can, both things can be true, but she's like, no, it's not shady at all. I'm just a business woman. Girl, I don't know about that. Casey: And Phaedra says like, my thing is that I'd be happy to pay you like an upfront fee, but 10 % of like all. sales in perpetuity is a lot, which it is. Like that's a lot. That's a big ask for basically just securing a studio space, which Phaedra could have done herself like easily. So it's like, it's not like Kenya's really doing all that much for her. So I get why that was like, all right, I don't want to do that. And cause Kenya was not giving signs of like stability and reliability at this point in the season. So I probably also would not want to go into a business partnership with her at this exact moment in time. Blake: Yeah to be tied financially in with her. And... Casey: Right, but this is the end of their good times. They're at odds now. Yeah, they're making competing videos with opposite animals. They're beefing, it's done. ⁓ Blake: Yeah, the two minutes are up. The two minutes are up. We got butts on two different animals now and that's how you know the friendship is over. ⁓ Casey: And it's funny, Phaedra's like, know a stallion is a male stud horse, right? Like they're like fully shading each other over this chosen animals too. Like Kenya's like, well, I just wouldn't want to look like a donkey. Like they're literally like, we're so caught up in like the nonsensical fights right now. Like, all right, girls. Blake: You This- Also, like, Portia now, Portia and Phaedra start to bond because they both have fallen out with Kenya. And so Phaedra then now brings it to, think that she might have a drinking problem and she also, I think, has a chemical imbalance. She might be bipolar. And then she says, you know, lithium can fix that. And I'm like, okay, so now we went from like, you know, you might have... been in the right to like, now we're just, now we're just, guess, you know, now you look a little bit vindictive. Now you look a little bit. Casey: Yeah. Right. I know. can I say something like it doesn't bother me like as a viewer, like I should I should have been like, ⁓ that's a little low. But I was like, ⁓ like, that's hilarious. Like we've literally gone to calling her an alcoholic bipolar woman because of this video thing. You weren't saying that when you were watching her like having like a break down with Gone with the Wind Fabulous, you were like preaches system. But like when it's coming after you, like with the with the donkey booty, Blake: sorry. I will say, I laughed. because of a donkey booty business deal. Casey: That's when it's it's not that's when you're an alcoholic bipolar woman like yeah Blake: That's when it's a bridge too far. Right? I will say like, I definitely laughed and I am not the kind of person who watches these shows and goes like, I would never do that in a social situation. But I did feel the need to bring that level of analysis where just like that is obviously going to further create problems amongst these women. And like, it's like you're building, you're digging a dig, I can't speak, you're digging a bigger hole. Casey: ⁓ yeah, it's out of line. Blake: ⁓ Where it's like, then maybe you could have gotten past the business thing, but now we are slandering character. ⁓ But it was fucking funny. And I do love that she was like, well, we're not friends anymore, so I'm just gonna go there. I think she has fucking bipolar issues. I think that she should be on lithium. She's wackadoodle, whackjob, insane, batshit crazy. ⁓ And you know what? Go for it. You're on television. What do have to lose? So... Casey: Yeah. And what's great about this season, like even when you're just focusing on Kenya and Portia, like... the fights that we're having are like, they have so much content that it's literally like black screen, like we have to go back to a different fight. Like this happens with Kenya and Phaedra and it's like, ⁓ okay, like we gotta get back to Kenya Porsche, like next season, like don't think too much on the donkey booty of all, we'll be back. Like we won't be back in four scenes, but we're gonna switch over. Like that's literally like how it goes. And they're like, all right, like let's get back to the Kenya Porsche. And I think it's Candy who is like, I don't know why they keep Blake: What? Casey: meeting up. Like it's clearly not not gonna work out like Blake: Yeah, I don't know why they keep going to lunch together and then they end up storming out each time. Casey: And they go to lunch together after the Anguilla of it all again. Like it's like, okay, we had a jump between Anguilla and this lunch because they're too busy filming everything else going on. But they go to lunch to discuss Anguilla. Portia's like, I feel like we can hash this out, you know, as adults, woman to woman. And it feels like they're sat down at this lunch table for like 15 seconds total. Like it is the shortest lunch. Blake: It's like literally the only, they don't get to order anything. It's like they sit down and then Kenya asks the waiter to remove the knives off the table, the butter knives that were on the table. Again, stunt queen. ⁓ And the waiter, I was like watching him cause I was like, was he like in on it or whatever? And he's standing there just like. Casey: Interaction ever. Blake: Do you want the knife? What do you mean take the knife? I was like, leave this man out of it. Leave this man out of it. But yeah, they're sitting down for, I mean, there's no like beating around the bush with these women. It's straight into, ⁓ I think Kenya really is just trying to convey to Portia that like, Phaedra is trying to slander her and get close to Portia just because she knows that. Kenya and Portia didn't start off well so she's like, you're being used as a pawn. She's just trying to like build people against me or whatever. ⁓ And then Portia essentially is just like, well I can't be a pawn if I don't let myself. And Kenya just immediately goes into like, ⁓ she's like, well you you clearly aren't a smart woman if you don't know that you're like being used as a pawn or whatever. ⁓ And that's... Kind of it. Like I feel like they, like that's it. It was literally just, Kenya is like, I don't think you're a smart, intelligent person cause you're not agreeing with me. And Portia was like, well, you're rude cause you're telling me what to think. And then they storm out and then we get this incredible moment. haha So then Casey: Obviously amazing clip, but I was struck this time that I have never fully appreciated the in her high top tennis shoes right after the bye Ashy. Blake: And her green eyeshadow, which was kind of crazy. Casey: They all have pretty bold eyeshadow. I mean, you have it in your notes of NeNe wears like a blue eye, like all around her. It looks good, but it's definitely intense. Blake: It was bright blue and this was at... It's just like, it's like, I'm, you know, there are certain like, you see, you look at like a color palette and with makeup and you know, sometimes I'll look at that and be like, these are the colors no one's gonna touch. She's touching them. ⁓ she's touching them. ⁓ So, ⁓ she's, she's... Casey: ⁓ she's all up in that blue, blue, that blue circle on the eyeshadow palette is empty now. Like she was absolutely crushing that on her lobes. Blake: ⁓ she had a goddamn ball in that blue. So there's like an event, doesn't really matter what it is, but basically Kenya, Cynthia tells Kenya that Phaedra was calling her an alcoholic and other things. So there's an event and this is how Kenya gets back at Phaedra. Casey: No. Blake: So she wore the same like mesh like cover up and like the thong whatever that Phaedra wore in Anguilla and then she also added butt pads onto her butt. Casey: Like they look like literal like chicken cutlets like on her cheeks. they don't even, they're white. They're like my skin color. Blake: No, yeah, it's not matching. The butt is not matching the cheeks, it's not. I just, so like personally, if someone were accusing me of like being bipolar or manic or an alcoholic, maybe like the way that I would disprove that is not to show up naked to like a charity event ⁓ and imitating. someone in my friend group with a fake southern accent and going up to people asking if they can have a drink. ⁓ I wouldn't maybe cause a scene to tell people that I wasn't manic, but again, stunt queen, brand building. She should teach people how to build their own brand. Casey: for sure, Stunt Queen, again, it pays off. She gets job security out of all these antics and ⁓ like a big fandom too with like people that again are like. Blake: Yep. Casey: fans of that kind of housewife and people that aren't too. I still enjoy and like Kenya even though she isn't my personal favorite Atlanta housewife. She's one of those housewives that you can't deny her impact. Yeah, I mean, it's like you have to appreciate the antics even if they do annoy you because what else are you watching if somebody isn't bringing some of the mess and some of the evil delusion, chaotic good or like, no, what's the word, chaotic bad, no. Blake: You have to respect. Yeah. Right. Neutral? It doesn't matter. It's chaotic. So we... Casey: Anyways, it's chaotic something. But like, Phaedra kind of lets that roll off her back. She's pretty classy throughout most of her conflict with Kenya, besides calling her bipolar and an alcoholic. Like in terms of reaction, Phaedra is not reactionary. Like she kind of lets her do her thing, doesn't create a big scene about it, even though this is wildly offensive. Like if she wanted to, she could make a scene about this, but. Blake: Yeah. Yeah. Casey: That's that. Again, we kind of just like leave that there like on the cuttick room floor like, all right. Blake: Yeah, they kind of are... Yeah, exactly. And then we have a finale party where Kenya is assigning each of the women a, like, iconic black woman in media, I think, like music and TV and movies and stuff. And she gave Portia Halle Berry's character in BAPS. And I guess... ⁓ Portia thought that was offensive because I guess she thought it was like not a classy character. So she takes it upon herself to just like... choose that the character she's going to dress up as Dorothy Dandridge. I mean, I guess that's not a character, but she's just choosing that she's not going to listen to Kenya. And so naturally when she shows up in the costume that Kenya did not pick out for her, Kenya calls her security and kicks her out of the party. Cause that's how normal people just handle, you know, someone not... Casey: Her same security back from the coochie crack fashion show is here again and they're ready to serve. ⁓ you know, it's, multiple people call this out while it's happening ⁓ for being unfair and like way over the top. And multiple people clock it for what it is, which it's a reactionary ⁓ role reversal of when Kenya left Portia's event and was, yeah. Blake: Yeah, she's just looking for a reason to do the same thing. Casey: And even Portia recognized this, Cynthia Candy, they're like, come on, Kenya, you can't really be doing this. And the rest of the girls all go outside with Portia in solidarity of this is actually not, this is not normal. And they're all outside for so long. Everyone is talking, just standing in the street for most of the episode. Blake: Yeah. I know! This confrontation, the party was still happening and like the program is still going on and like we're still outside deciding. I honestly couldn't tell if, if Portia ends up going back to the party or if she leaves because they're just outside, they're just outside discussing the apology and the incident over and over. I'm like, okay, so yes or no, leave or get back into the party? Like it really. Casey: She does. Wait, Portia does go back to the party because roll the tapes on her little end credit. Blake: ⁓ So her end of the season, her end of the season, like, update card before we get to the reunion. It's clipped because it's just, it's fucking funny. Let's play it. So she's like, if you're not watching, she's like feeling herself in her Dorothy Dandridge dress or whatever and then her title card comes up and the first thing it says is, Cordell files for divorce. And it's like. Casey: And it's almost like they give it a couple seconds for like something else would pop up of like, Portia opened a business and has been spending time with family though. No, Cordell filed for divorce. No other update. Like. Blake: Nope, it's just... While she's in this, like, feeling herself posed to the left, so it's like the juxtaposition of, she's feeling it, like, life's good, and then it's Cordell filed for divorce, and it's like, shit, okay. Casey: Which is a perfect segue into the reunion because I would say the most notable aspect of the reunion, at least for us and arguably just in general, is Portia is going through this divorce. She isn't yet because the reunion is taped before it's announced, but... Blake: One week, yeah. Casey: But their marriage is obviously not in good place. Everyone kind of knows it. It's out there in the media. so she's trying to do damage control at this reunion. ⁓ And not well. It's not fooling anybody. Cordell doesn't show up. So it's not a good look. She's like, he has work. Isn't he a retired football player? What's he up to? Blake: I also like everyone works. I mean, they kind of just come still ⁓ Casey: And don't you all film this for like 15 hours? Like, what, is he not off the clock yet? Blake: he can come for like one of those hours, I'm so sorry. ⁓ Basically, mean, you can imagine it's just rehashing the same shit, obviously, know, Phaedra, Phaedra does have a really funny line ⁓ because... Kenya was talking about her production company or whatever and how she does big million dollar movies and Phaedra was like, what million dollar movies have you done? She was like, your last big acting role was in this show and you need a Razzie for that performance. Casey: Phaedra again was killing me during this because of her like nonchalant like she is the I would know Nini's the least bothered at this reunion. Nini is like having a goddamn time because she's not in the mess and she's just enjoying everyone else being messy. But Phaedra is like perfect level of response for someone like Kenya. I think again. Blake: Cause none of it really is like that much about her. Casey: has a smart play about like housewives. Phaedra understands that to match Kenya's over the top, let me just let it play out, hit her with some zingers and I'm probably gonna come out looking like the better person here, even though I did call her bipolar and said she should be on Lithium. Like, and she does, like you do end up being like, yeah, Kenya, you're doing a lot. Blake: Yeah. Yeah. Well, cause Kenya also showed up with a fan that she will like, she'll like pointedly like, you know, smack out after she like makes a point or something and then she'll like, she'll like fan herself like she's unbothered and it's like, okay girl. And this is like, you know, this is foreshadowing for the next reunion where she has a fucking ⁓ loud speaker, like a, you know what I mean? And like, ⁓ Casey: Yeah, the prop queen is just beginning. Blake: Yeah, exactly. This is nothing. This is nothing. ⁓ And so the main kind of like bombshell we get is that Walter has accused Kenya of like hiring him to be her boyfriend so she could get cast on the show. ⁓ Everyone thinks that it's true. ⁓ And then also Kenya kind of like calls into question Walter's sexuality and she says like I wasn't sure if maybe he just isn't a man. I will say she had this pretty progressive response when Andy said, you are mad that Phaedra is slandering your character, but you're slandering Walter's character. And she goes, there's nothing wrong with being gay. I'm not slandering him. I'm just asking a legit question. Casey: She did say that. Blake: that apparently she asked him to his face. But all the men defend Walter, I mean everyone, not even the men. All the women, all the men defend Walter. Candy even says that Walter hit her up to try to go on a date or something. ⁓ It's hard. Cause their relationship was super weird. But then also, like, I really can't wrap my head around someone like truly paying someone to pretend to be their boyfriend for a TV show. Like, and then also not even doing that good of a job at it. Like, why would you, why would you hire someone? I don't, I don't know. You're right. I guess it's like, I mean, Walter was like, that's my point. It's like, if, if this came out as a bombshell, Casey: I don't care. You know, like. Blake: and we thought they were about to get married and have kids, I would care. I'd be like, damn, that's crazy. But like, he didn't even really like... Casey: It literally doesn't matter. Like, I don't really care if she hired him or not. Like, that's not, that's not, ⁓ Yeah Did he just leave? ⁓ I mean, we can just one on one for a little y'all. ⁓ Blake is texting me, like, I don't even know if can add him back. Do you guys have anything you want to tell me about Blake while he's gone? I don't have anything to tell you guys about him. Well, let's pretend like I said something. Well, I guess he won't know. your back together and if that's true you'll just have to chase me when he's kissing you if you want forever now that we're do just know you'll taste me too oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah okay oh my god well Anyways, Blake disconnected, clearly. I don't know how much of this, like, of me, like, monologuing wool. ⁓ will leave in, but the reunion isn't that exciting. The women continue to argue with Kenyale. It's kind of a pile on, as we said, about where she takes a lot of the heat from them all, because I think she kind of makes herself an easy target, and everyone needs camera time and needs a storyline. And. The really interesting part of this reunion is, and the lore behind it that's interesting too, is... Portia, as said, has to do a ton of damage control. She has to solo defend her marriage from everybody there who is questioning and from the press who have already gotten the sense that they're splitting or separating. So Andy's asking about it. Viewers are asking about their relationship. Cordell's not there to help her at all. And she has this really long monologue about their relationship. Literally, she's talking for, I want to say, full, unerupted minutes. Nobody else gets And it's the alt performance since Blake usually has the clips. She's like, I am not perfect. Cordell is not perfect by far. But I am Portia and I want to make my marriage work and I want to be there for my kids and I want to be the mom who's at home cooking the meals. And there's some other good stuff in the monologue. But the other part that I like is she's like, I want to cook his meals. I want to cook his meals. And it's like, we've all had a moment like that where we're saying we want to cook his meals and he doesn't even care if we live or die. It happens. It happens to everyone at some point in life, all genders or no gender or any gender. And it's iconic. And she also sings Amazing Grace a little bit at the end to kind of like take us home. But BTS lore, Andy says that this monologue that Portia does, the like two minute cordel speech, is actually what saves her peach and gets her another season. Because maybe he thought she wasn't giving, which I don't really get that. Like what do you mean saved her peach? We have way more boring housewives than that. But keep. on our screens, so thank you Cordell. And thank you to everyone. Blake and I will see you next week. We're gonna be staying put in the ATL and revisiting the one season wonders of The Housewives who made a huge impact by making no impact on The Housewives of Atlanta. Or not none. Like I said, it is a big impact by making no impact. In a way they've made it. a huge impact if they're making it on our podcast. But have a great week, keep slaying, and don't forget to mention it all again. Bye, y'all.
