A 240-year-old silver chalice forged in Cork in 1790 has crisscrossed the globe—twice to the U.S., to England, and even Cuba—before returning home. Carried by Father Patrick Bowen Murphy, a former civil engineer and chaplain who used it during his travels, the chalice survived his death in 1929 and passed through generations of the Murphy family before being formally gifted to Ballymartle Church in 1954.
