- 0:53Speaker 2: Best Week's everyone. There's two episodes you good bye. I
- 0:59Speaker 2: just ate ale bunch of peanut butter, which is really
- 1:01Speaker 2: like the last thing I should be eating.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Before before podcasting. Let's just have a big old spook
- 1:05Speaker 1: for peanut butter. Why not, I'll wash it down with's
- 1:09Speaker 1: some trench, some trench alcohol, shadow to trench.
- 1:11Speaker 2: We hit up trench today.
- 1:13Speaker 1: I got some thousand peaks, some thousand peach rosemary. It's
- 1:19Speaker 1: all good. This is my favorite beer, literally favorite beer.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you're obsessed. You got to stalk up. But
- 1:24Speaker 2: you stalk up and then you just drink it.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I know that's the problem. It's like I'm gonna
- 1:27Speaker 1: store all this away in my belly.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Yep. Well, because we just do what you got eight
- 1:36Speaker 2: and you're already drink too. No one's judging. I'm just
- 1:41Speaker 2: pointing it out.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Fair enough, fair enough.
- 1:44Speaker 2: But yeah, I should not have had like a scoop
- 1:46Speaker 2: of peanut butter before this situation.
- 1:48Speaker 1: But you are right with what you said a moment ago. Though.
- 1:51Speaker 1: It's the best weeks when you get two episodes, although
- 1:54Speaker 1: we're making them wait though, that's you're.
- 1:56Speaker 2: So kind because there are so many podcasts that will
- 2:00Speaker 2: just like do part one on like say, do we
- 2:03Speaker 2: release on Tuesdays and then they'll release part two on
- 2:06Speaker 2: the next Tuesday.
- 2:07Speaker 1: That's true.
- 2:08Speaker 2: So I feel like we're hella nice.
- 2:10Speaker 1: That's that's very true. We are pretty fucking nice, Like
- 2:13Speaker 1: we're amazing people. We do good things. So yeah, we're
- 2:18Speaker 1: not pad on the back. We're not biaus at all,
- 2:20Speaker 1: not at all. No, are you ready for this?
- 2:23Speaker 2: I am.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Actually let's get into it. Let's talk about it.
- 2:25Speaker 2: This shit's been affecting my life.
- 2:27Speaker 1: I need closure, any closure.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Well, every time a goddamn dor squeaks and closes, I'm
- 2:31Speaker 2: just like dumb. You have been on edge, such on edge,
- 2:36Speaker 2: and I think it has to do with this shit,
- 2:39Speaker 2: Like I don't.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Know, well, especially with Halloween coming up, it's probably only
- 2:42Speaker 1: gonna get worse for you, because I know for me,
- 2:44Speaker 1: I'm going to start looking in some more spooky cases
- 2:47Speaker 1: rather than just typical true crime stuff. Yeah, especially in
- 2:50Speaker 1: October when we got some cool shit.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Coming in, super cool shit. But I don't know, it's
- 2:55Speaker 2: just like we have a lot on the go. And
- 2:56Speaker 2: then I feel like when it starts getting darker earlier,
- 2:59Speaker 2: that like bring some spookiness too.
- 3:01Speaker 1: It's true that eerie like vibe hits your life.
- 3:05Speaker 2: So yeah, and then yeah, we've been making me watch
- 3:07Speaker 2: we're not making me. We've been watching scarier movies lately,
- 3:11Speaker 2: and yeah, I'm like being affected here.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Yeah, most definitely.
- 3:15Speaker 2: I think my next case I could pick like a
- 3:18Speaker 2: just like a social psyche. What am I trying to say?
- 3:21Speaker 2: I have no idea sociopath, a sociopath something that I
- 3:25Speaker 2: can't relate to.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Something you can't relate to. You got it?
- 3:29Speaker 2: Maybe I don't know. We'll see, we'll see, Okay.
- 3:33Speaker 1: So first of off, first off, thank you to everyone
- 3:35Speaker 1: out there who reached out to us and congratulated us
- 3:38Speaker 1: on our announcements. And second for everyone who's dropping the
- 3:42Speaker 1: bomb on everything to do with the Exorcist, the original
- 3:45Speaker 1: Exorcist movie and how it was written or how it's
- 3:48Speaker 1: done by the book, how it was off of the
- 3:52Speaker 1: written book, which is based off a true story. There
- 3:54Speaker 1: we go. The first person who actually did message us
- 3:59Speaker 1: was Jobey Fawn. I really hope I'm pronouncing your name right. Anyways,
- 4:05Speaker 1: you you talked about it and you send us a message.
- 4:08Speaker 1: So I just want to say thank you to you
- 4:09Speaker 1: guys out there, and thank you for hitting us up.
- 4:11Speaker 1: We really appreciate it. We've got some like photos of
- 4:14Speaker 1: like some staircases and stuff that was in the movies.
- 4:17Speaker 1: In the movie that was like just right by someone's house.
- 4:21Speaker 2: The visual that we have in our our recording area
- 4:24Speaker 2: is quite the scene.
- 4:25Speaker 3: We're a little bit distracted right now because Ripley is
- 4:27Speaker 3: being because we have like.
- 4:29Speaker 2: A blanket hung up just for echo I guess right,
- 4:33Speaker 2: And there's a cat gone behind the blanket and then
- 4:36Speaker 2: our cat's trying to get are our dogs trying to
- 4:38Speaker 2: get under there? And asses in the air, and it's
- 4:40Speaker 2: just a lot.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Yeah, well we'll leave that be. Let's get going with
- 4:44Speaker 1: this case. Let's go for part two. You guys, thank
- 4:48Speaker 1: you for waiting. Let's get going on it. Let's dive in.
- 4:52Speaker 1: So Annalise is now gone through all that sort of
- 4:56Speaker 1: hell and she is now going into her exorcisms, that's
- 4:59Speaker 1: kind of where we left off. That's where we're at
- 5:01Speaker 1: right now. So after the first trial version of the
- 5:04Speaker 1: exorcism was performed by Father Alt, which went on for
- 5:08Speaker 1: approximately two hours, Annalise cried a sigh of relief as
- 5:13Speaker 1: she said, quote unquote, I am free and the demons
- 5:18Speaker 1: supposedly left her body.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Oh so she initially thought she was good.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Yeah, she was. She was rid of the demons at
- 5:24Speaker 1: that point. Okay, However, it didn't last long because, as
- 5:29Speaker 1: we know, she goes through multiple more extorcisms. So the
- 5:33Speaker 1: next day, subsequently, the demons did return with a vengeance.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Oh she only got a day's break.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Yeah, barely even, probably like twelve hours by the sounds
- 5:44Speaker 1: of it. So Annale's behavior began to spiral out of control.
- 5:50Speaker 1: She would frantically rush through the house. She'd keep repeatedly
- 5:54Speaker 1: kneeling and standing rapidly over and over. So she's just
- 5:58Speaker 1: like dropping to her knees and then standing back up,
- 6:00Speaker 1: dropping to her knees. And this is something that she
- 6:03Speaker 1: continues to do over and over throughout the rest of
- 6:06Speaker 1: her exorcisms.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Dang her poor knees.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Oh yeah, they would be bruised, they'd swell, and in
- 6:12Speaker 1: the end her knees were I don't know how broken,
- 6:15Speaker 1: but I know she doesn't at least fractures in her knees.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Really.
- 6:22Speaker 1: She would sometimes pray repeatedly from dusk till dawn, and
- 6:27Speaker 1: she would repeat herself over and over with things like
- 6:30Speaker 1: my Jesus forgiveness and mercy, forgiveness and mercy et cetera.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Just repeat from dusk till dawn. That's fucking scary.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh, I just can't even imagine, just like I
- 6:47Speaker 2: don't know, for lack of better words, but like the
- 6:49Speaker 2: vibe that is in the house with that, you.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Know, I really can't.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Oh, I think I would just be Oh I think
- 6:56Speaker 2: i'm on eyed cheer. Could you imagine living in that?
- 6:59Speaker 1: No? I can't and I don't want to.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Oh well, yeah you said that you would just close
- 7:04Speaker 2: the door, Yeah, little.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Timmy, just like nope, Sorry, Tim, You're on your own,
- 7:09Speaker 1: whether it's a medical thing or a spiritual thing, whatever
- 7:15Speaker 1: the cause that's a big old note from me. Yeah, like, yeah,
- 7:19Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I'm piecing out of there. Oh you're good.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I just feel really bad for her, to be honest.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Oh yeah, definitely. So screaming was a normal thing for
- 7:31Speaker 1: her and the whole household well, coming from her. I'm
- 7:35Speaker 1: sure the parents would scream sometimes of frustration and terror,
- 7:38Speaker 1: but mostly it was coming from Analyse. But it was
- 7:41Speaker 1: a normal thing throughout the house to hear the screams,
- 7:45Speaker 1: except for times when she would tremble and fall to
- 7:47Speaker 1: a complete canatonic canatonic state of rigidity. Annalise saw clouds
- 7:55Speaker 1: of flies and shadowy figures and creatures that eventually her
- 8:00Speaker 1: family claimed to be seeing throughout the house as well.
- 8:02Speaker 2: The family would see them as well.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Apparently the family would see them as well.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Okay, well that's sure a new layer yeah, huh okay
- 8:14Speaker 2: in trusting.
- 8:16Speaker 1: So the church was contacted and express written permission from
- 8:20Speaker 1: the bishop to perform the exorcisms on September twenty fourth,
- 8:25Speaker 1: nineteen seventy five. So we're now into the full exorcisms.
- 8:30Speaker 2: So I just feel like she needs like help, like
- 8:33Speaker 2: to be admitted into somewhere that can help her.
- 8:35Speaker 1: But I know, I know, well that's what they're trying
- 8:37Speaker 1: to do though by these exercises.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, because.
- 8:40Speaker 1: They did try medical and they couldn't find anything. The
- 8:45Speaker 1: EEG scans found nothing on her brain, essentially nothing. The
- 8:50Speaker 1: medications weren't helping almost anything except maybe some seizures.
- 8:59Speaker 2: And like, I guess, evehen right now, she's not even
- 9:01Speaker 2: really having those.
- 9:03Speaker 1: She's I mean, she's not She's having seizure activity, but
- 9:07Speaker 1: not like Flun's convulsions. I guess yeah, because like those
- 9:10Speaker 1: canatotic states of rigidity could be perceived as seizures could be.
- 9:19Speaker 1: So it's hard to say now. I always know.
- 9:24Speaker 2: I was just like looking at your face and like
- 9:26Speaker 2: he's lost, right, I need to.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Scroll and like keep like when we talk, and need
- 9:30Speaker 1: to like scroll up to the spot I was in.
- 9:34Speaker 1: So they expressed, okay, there we are the express permission
- 9:36Speaker 1: and did the first exorcism on September Tour twenty fourth,
- 9:39Speaker 1: nineteen seventy five. Father Wrenz conducted the ritual, and at
- 9:43Speaker 1: first he said that Analyse seemed normal when he arrived,
- 9:47Speaker 1: but in the course of the exorcism, Analyse's behavior quickly changed.
- 9:51Speaker 1: At first, she was calm, but then her begin her
- 9:54Speaker 1: body began to shake violently, and she screamed and thrashed about,
- 9:59Speaker 1: and it took three grown men to hold her down
- 10:02Speaker 1: and prevent her from biting anyone or assaulting anyone.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Holy, I mean three grown men, Like, that's that's a lot.
- 10:12Speaker 2: That's a lot. Like, yes, that's needing a lot of restraint.
- 10:16Speaker 1: But again, because I can understand, I'm trying to play
- 10:19Speaker 1: the neutral point of view here, because I have my
- 10:22Speaker 1: own perspectives and that sort of thing, but I'm trying
- 10:24Speaker 1: to just play Devil's advocate and be neutral here.
- 10:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:28Speaker 1: So, yeah, that is a lot of strength and a
- 10:31Speaker 1: lot of like super natural esque type strength. However, we
- 10:37Speaker 1: as humans do not access our full potential of strength
- 10:41Speaker 1: when adrenaline kicks in. We see feats of superhuman strength
- 10:47Speaker 1: consistently throughout history and different events, and they say that
- 10:50Speaker 1: in like the Animal Kingdom, that that strength is a
- 10:54Speaker 1: lot more easily tapped into. Yeah, like chimpanzees or something.
- 11:00Speaker 1: For whatever reason, through evolution, we don't tap into our
- 11:03Speaker 1: full potential of strength, probably for harming your own bodies.
- 11:07Speaker 1: So maybe in a state like this, she's able to
- 11:11Speaker 1: tap into that adrenaline and full potential of her strength,
- 11:18Speaker 1: making a lot easier for her to overcome people of
- 11:21Speaker 1: greater size or multiple people.
- 11:24Speaker 2: But she was like a small.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Girl though she was she yes, but also on that
- 11:30Speaker 1: same note, it could be a fucking demon in.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Her well, yeah, because she was a small girl, and
- 11:34Speaker 2: she was also at that point, really I'm probably undernourished
- 11:40Speaker 2: and not overly healthy, right, Yeah, so that's why I'm
- 11:44Speaker 2: like surprised that it would take. But then, I mean,
- 11:46Speaker 2: if someone's thrashing about like that is hard to contain
- 11:50Speaker 2: really too.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Yeah, So I mean like even just a kid picture,
- 11:57Speaker 1: like a twelve year old kid just normally thrashing about.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Yea one parent is going to have a difficult time
- 12:02Speaker 1: holding that.
- 12:03Speaker 2: One killing you need to Ye.
- 12:07Speaker 1: It's a hard perspective to really think of. And I mean, yeah,
- 12:09Speaker 1: I mean supernatural strength could be perceived, but you never know,
- 12:12Speaker 1: it's really hard to say for sure. Not counting it
- 12:17Speaker 1: out just playing that devil's.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Advocate, you're playing neutral. It's a good way.
- 12:21Speaker 1: So Father Wrens actually, during the ritual, began sprinkling analase
- 12:27Speaker 1: with holy water, and immediately illicid screams belted from her mouth.
- 12:34Speaker 1: She reacted violently to the holy water. She demanded the
- 12:38Speaker 1: priests stops, but however he pressed on yikes.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Yeah, but it was her demanding or the demons, you know, Well,
- 12:49Speaker 2: we get into this little bit, am I jumping ahead?
- 12:51Speaker 1: Yes, it is the demons through her, Okay, through the exorcism.
- 12:56Speaker 1: She doesn't have control or anything like that. Demons are
- 13:00Speaker 1: screaming or speaking through her. And in those audio recordings
- 13:04Speaker 1: like we played at the end of last episode, you
- 13:05Speaker 1: can hear that demon ass.
- 13:07Speaker 2: It was wild.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Yeah. So the whole session of the first full extorcism
- 13:13Speaker 1: lasted about five and a half hours.
- 13:17Speaker 2: That's too long.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Yeah, And at the end of it, elucid Analie said
- 13:21Speaker 1: that she that they should have continued, and she felt
- 13:24Speaker 1: that the exorcism was troubling the demons. She wanted to
- 13:27Speaker 1: continue to get rid of them. But the problem is
- 13:30Speaker 1: going on that long. To take a toll on the
- 13:32Speaker 1: demons would also mean taking a toll on her.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Well, that's a long time. The only thing you should
- 13:37Speaker 2: be doing that long. I feel like a's sleeping.
- 13:40Speaker 1: I think you should be sleeping longer than.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Well at least. Yeah, but that's a really long time.
- 13:46Speaker 2: But it's interesting that she's giving that much consent that
- 13:49Speaker 2: afterward it's like, yeah, go longer kind of thing.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Yeah, she wants to get rid of these things. Yeah,
- 13:54Speaker 1: but also just to throw this out there. I'm totally okay.
- 13:56Speaker 1: If people binge our podcasts for longer than five and
- 13:59Speaker 1: a half hours, just okay.
- 14:01Speaker 2: So there's another thing you can do. Yep, and I
- 14:03Speaker 2: think people have. There's some people that have finished all
- 14:05Speaker 2: of them in like two days.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Which is insane. You guys are amazing for that.
- 14:09Speaker 2: That's incredible.
- 14:10Speaker 1: That means a lot. Okay, moving on, Okay, from the ritual,
- 14:15Speaker 1: she had full recollection of everything that happened, but she
- 14:20Speaker 1: was not in control. Now there's one hundred percent another
- 14:26Speaker 1: personality within analse's body which is quite distinct from her
- 14:31Speaker 1: usual self, and this may mean possession by demons, but
- 14:34Speaker 1: it may also mean something else. It's hypothesized that it
- 14:38Speaker 1: could be a multiple personality disorder, oh okay, though many
- 14:44Speaker 1: are doubtful. If there were truly multiple persons in a
- 14:48Speaker 1: single body, one might not know what the others are
- 14:52Speaker 1: thinking or doing, and analyse could recall everything.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Okay, So you don't know much about that disorder.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I guess I looked it up briefly, and I guess
- 15:02Speaker 1: multiple personality disorder is actually very very much so a
- 15:07Speaker 1: skepticism type thing in the medical field. A lot of
- 15:11Speaker 1: people are like there must be something else at play,
- 15:14Speaker 1: like bipolar or something. Maybe I don't know, but for
- 15:17Speaker 1: multiple personalities, because people generally know what the other personality
- 15:22Speaker 1: in their body is thinking, and for multiple personalities or
- 15:26Speaker 1: multiple hopes or persons in one body, it doesn't make
- 15:29Speaker 1: sense that they share the same thoughts.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Huh. So interesting. Yeah, it was an interesting I don't
- 15:37Speaker 2: know anything about that really.
- 15:38Speaker 1: But that was a whole other path that goes out
- 15:41Speaker 1: absolutely so.
- 15:42Speaker 2: And if they're kind of skeptical of it, right.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Yeah, so, like I said in the end of last episode,
- 15:49Speaker 1: over the next ten months from nineteen seventy five to
- 15:52Speaker 1: nineteen seventy six, Analyse endured a total of sixty seven exorcisms.
- 15:57Speaker 1: She went through one or two each week, lasting up
- 16:00Speaker 1: to four hours long.
- 16:02Speaker 2: That is so much. It's like a part time job,
- 16:05Speaker 2: that is.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Yeah. And then probably so. During the ten month span,
- 16:12Speaker 1: they were able to discern six separate demons within Annaly.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Wow.
- 16:19Speaker 1: The demons that were insider are Cain, who is the
- 16:24Speaker 1: son of Adam and Eve, known by the title as
- 16:28Speaker 1: Father of Murder. He was the first ever person to
- 16:30Speaker 1: commit murder. Nero, who was a cruel tyrant emperor in
- 16:36Speaker 1: Rome during fifty four, ad Hitler, who's.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Well it's hit Yeah, no explanation.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Fleischmann, which we'll get into him in a minute, Judas,
- 16:48Speaker 1: which not who you think, but we'll get into that
- 16:51Speaker 1: in a minute as well. And Lucifer, who is of
- 16:54Speaker 1: course the devil in himself.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, like.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Cringing here, I am cringing.
- 17:02Speaker 2: It's just like wild, like that they got that much information, Like,
- 17:05Speaker 2: I just don't think that she could just be making
- 17:07Speaker 2: the shit up.
- 17:08Speaker 1: In the audio tapes. I mean, it's there's a lot
- 17:11Speaker 1: to listen to. There's hours and hours of audio. If
- 17:15Speaker 1: you listen through the audio audio tape, you can actually
- 17:18Speaker 1: hear them having conversations with specific demons, like who are.
- 17:22Speaker 2: You making different kind of voices?
- 17:27Speaker 1: I listened to each individual demon and they do kind
- 17:32Speaker 1: of but not really. It seems like they're still using
- 17:35Speaker 1: her vocal cords.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Okay, so which I yeah, which makes sense, but.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Yeah, they don't sound that different, which again plays into
- 17:46Speaker 1: the fact on the arguable arguable fact, was there actually
- 17:48Speaker 1: six demons? Is she actually possessed? Is she just going
- 17:51Speaker 1: through some sort of mental thing?
- 17:54Speaker 2: Yeah, but I just feel like to get like that
- 17:56Speaker 2: much information and would she even just knowing her background,
- 18:01Speaker 2: her beliefs, would she even know all these people, like,
- 18:04Speaker 2: would they have been in something she would have learned about?
- 18:08Speaker 1: You know, well, most of these demons can actually be
- 18:10Speaker 1: found simply through biblical readings study. Okay, aside from well Hitler,
- 18:15Speaker 1: who was well fucking Hitler. She lives in German or German.
- 18:19Speaker 2: She lives in German, so she would know.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Yeah. However, there is one that stood out to the priest.
- 18:27Speaker 1: That's Valentine Fleischmann. And now he was a Frankish Catholic
- 18:32Speaker 1: priest who lived in the sixteenth century. Fleischmann's priesthood lasted
- 18:36Speaker 1: from around fifteen seventy two to fifteen seventy five. He
- 18:40Speaker 1: had been excommunicated from the Catholic Church due to his
- 18:43Speaker 1: drunken behavior and outlandishness. Fleischmann was accused of assault and murder. Really, yeah,
- 18:53Speaker 1: at the time Fleischmann was a was a name. There
- 18:57Speaker 1: was very little information about the information was very not
- 19:01Speaker 1: so available to the public per se. It was someone
- 19:05Speaker 1: that Analyse rightfully should not have known about or come
- 19:08Speaker 1: across in her studies, because she did do studies before.
- 19:12Speaker 1: We talked about that in the last episodes last episode
- 19:15Speaker 1: she was, but still it's not someone she should rightfully
- 19:21Speaker 1: know about. Okay, So there's another one that seems a
- 19:27Speaker 1: little bit weird. It seems strange that a man's name
- 19:31Speaker 1: Judas should be given for a demon, yet it's claimed
- 19:36Speaker 1: that Judas was often given by other possession victims as well,
- 19:41Speaker 1: not just analyse. It's not that the demon was actually
- 19:45Speaker 1: Judas of the Gospels, apparently, but instead the name represents
- 19:49Speaker 1: the role of a demon like a fucking job description. Basically,
- 19:54Speaker 1: no day, Yeah, a Judas demon attempts to force its
- 19:59Speaker 1: victory to imitate the apostle and the betrayal of its lord,
- 20:04Speaker 1: because in the biblical readings, Judas betrayed Jesus, right, So
- 20:08Speaker 1: that's what it's paralleling is this demon is trying to
- 20:12Speaker 1: get you to betray your beliefs and Christ and the
- 20:16Speaker 1: Lord and that sort of thing. Often it would actually
- 20:20Speaker 1: prevent its victims from swallowing Holy Communion in order to
- 20:24Speaker 1: steal the hosts. So basically what this means is a
- 20:27Speaker 1: demon prevents you from making a connection to God that's
- 20:31Speaker 1: keeping power over you. Holy communion is a ceremony where
- 20:35Speaker 1: the bread represents the body of Jesus and the wine
- 20:38Speaker 1: his blood that was shed, and in consuming them, it's
- 20:41Speaker 1: a way to remember him and receive Christ the nourishment
- 20:46Speaker 1: and strength and hope and joy from him, which in
- 20:50Speaker 1: turn are all powerful weapons against such demons.
- 20:53Speaker 2: H Okay, this is just like it's like whoa, it's
- 20:58Speaker 2: information overloads, it is. But it's just like the fact
- 21:01Speaker 2: that this, this whole story is just it just honestly
- 21:04Speaker 2: blows my mind, like it literally does.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:06Speaker 2: And the fact that none of these were working though,
- 21:09Speaker 2: like they were able to like tap in and get
- 21:11Speaker 2: that much information from these demons. Yeah, but that like
- 21:14Speaker 2: it's kind of like why didn't anything work, Like why
- 21:17Speaker 2: couldn't they get them out or even one out? You know?
- 21:20Speaker 1: Yeah, that just seems But out of those six demons,
- 21:25Speaker 1: like I said, there's a lot of like, oh, fucking
- 21:27Speaker 1: Devil's in here, fucking Hitler's in here. You know, pick
- 21:30Speaker 1: any fucking villain from a TV show that you want, Oh,
- 21:32Speaker 1: he's in here. It could just be knowledge that someone's
- 21:34Speaker 1: just randomly spitting out there.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Right, fucking Dexter maybe in there.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Dexter was a good guy. What are you talking about?
- 21:41Speaker 2: Yeah, she still murdered people, he did, he did, But
- 21:44Speaker 2: in the best of ways. I guess that you could
- 21:45Speaker 2: be a murderer.
- 21:47Speaker 1: But there are the two, which was Fleischmann, who she
- 21:49Speaker 1: rightfully shouldn't know about, and Judas, which is not necessarily
- 21:53Speaker 1: representing Judas himself, but Judas the role of whatever that
- 21:58Speaker 1: I just described here. And this is a consistent pattern
- 22:02Speaker 1: in other possession victims. So those are two kind of
- 22:06Speaker 1: interesting things about that. Very Yeah. Now, Analyse was beginning
- 22:12Speaker 1: to refuse to eat during the times of her exorcisms.
- 22:16Speaker 1: She went through stints in the past, but now it
- 22:18Speaker 1: was worse than ever. And she stated, quote unquote that
- 22:21Speaker 1: she was not allowed to wow, So whatever was in
- 22:27Speaker 1: her was not allowing.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Her to eat.
- 22:30Speaker 2: She must be so just frail height, she.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Gets extremely frail. We'll touch on that a little bit.
- 22:39Speaker 2: That's just the main thing that I visuals, like this
- 22:42Speaker 2: frail young woman.
- 22:44Speaker 1: That's exactly that. But then on top of it, it's
- 22:47Speaker 1: not just this frail young woman. It's this frail young
- 22:49Speaker 1: young woman who is thrashing about.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Lots of.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Essentially like scratching, biting herself, dropping repeatedly on her knees
- 22:57Speaker 1: on the floor over and over again. She's beating and
- 23:00Speaker 1: bruising herself, and then of course being restrained during exorcisms
- 23:05Speaker 1: and everything. So it's just compiling. So you have this
- 23:08Speaker 1: frail woman who's not just frail, she's breaking.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Oh, like that seems so wrong to be restraining her,
- 23:15Speaker 2: but I guess you kind of have to.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Yeah, well, they generally are restraining her to prevent her
- 23:21Speaker 1: from hurting other people or herself.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:23Speaker 1: So she wasn't eating, and the demon's quote unquote was
- 23:28Speaker 1: not we're not allowing her to. Despite this, however, she
- 23:31Speaker 1: did consume the bread in communion, but just she felt
- 23:35Speaker 1: a resistance inside her as she was trying to swallow
- 23:37Speaker 1: the bread, so instead she just let it lay on
- 23:40Speaker 1: her tongue softened to the point of almost dissolving, to
- 23:43Speaker 1: ingest as much as she could.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Wow.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Yeah, Now the demons told Annalise many times that she
- 23:51Speaker 1: was suffering the repercussions of her mother's sin.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Her mother's sin. Yeah, do we get to know what
- 23:59Speaker 2: the heck that was?
- 24:00Speaker 1: Now this is open to interpretation, I believe, But what
- 24:03Speaker 1: I read this as is we touched on it very
- 24:06Speaker 1: first thing in last episode.
- 24:09Speaker 2: The mom what's got pregnant is that right.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Which she had a child at wedlock she had to
- 24:16Speaker 1: wear a black veil to her wedding and air.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I forgot about that actually.
- 24:20Speaker 1: So I don't know if that's who knows what they're
- 24:23Speaker 1: referring to, but that is my interpretation of what the
- 24:27Speaker 1: demons are referring to.
- 24:30Speaker 2: So the demons care, though I.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Don't know that's right, It's true. I don't know well.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Witnesses to the exorcism, such as family priests, attests that
- 24:43Speaker 1: she displayed almost superhuman strength, as it took several people
- 24:47Speaker 1: to restrain her. At times, Like I said, she would
- 24:49Speaker 1: continue to keep repeating kneeling and raising over and over
- 24:53Speaker 1: at ridiculous speed. She would feel heat throughout her body,
- 24:57Speaker 1: and she would often tear off her clothes in order
- 24:59Speaker 1: to to cool herself. She had visions of demons, angels,
- 25:06Speaker 1: those shadow figures, as well as stigmata marks appearing on
- 25:10Speaker 1: her body that were clearly distinct from other injuries. Do
- 25:14Speaker 1: you know what stigmata is?
- 25:16Speaker 2: I was just going to ask.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Stigmata is referred to as an injury or marx on
- 25:21Speaker 1: the body, correlating to the injuries that Jesus would have
- 25:23Speaker 1: sustained during his crucifixion. Okay, like marks on the hand
- 25:30Speaker 1: and nails would go through the wrist. Maybe it was
- 25:34Speaker 1: the wrist, I can't remember.
- 25:35Speaker 2: I think it was the hand.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Well, I don't know correlating to that.
- 25:40Speaker 3: So nails marks through wherever the nails are going him,
- 25:43Speaker 3: his hands, feet often bruising, or marks on the back
- 25:47Speaker 3: where he would carry the cross marks on the heart
- 25:50Speaker 3: across the forehead, sometimes from the thorns of the crown
- 25:53Speaker 3: of Thorns, that sort of thing. So I couldn't find
- 25:57Speaker 3: what stigmata marks she had, but apparently there were distinct
- 26:01Speaker 3: stigma and marks separate from her other injuries.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Okay, and that just seems like that's too much. You
- 26:07Speaker 2: can't just like that's just not from being self inflicting
- 26:11Speaker 2: anything like.
- 26:12Speaker 1: That's yeah.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Who I don't even know what to say half the time.
- 26:18Speaker 2: This shit's just so.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Wide, This is fucking dark.
- 26:21Speaker 2: This is crazy and in the back of my head,
- 26:23Speaker 2: and it's like I'm just like, oh God, I'm going
- 26:25Speaker 2: to be on edge for a few more days, aren't I?
- 26:27Speaker 1: Yeah. Now, Father Wren's actually did decide he was going
- 26:30Speaker 1: to put analyse to and or the demons through a
- 26:34Speaker 1: few tests because he wanted to test the validity of
- 26:38Speaker 1: these possessions, so secretly he did put through some little
- 26:42Speaker 1: tests here. He did speak to the demons in other
- 26:46Speaker 1: languages to try and get them to respond in other
- 26:48Speaker 1: languages that a lease wouldn't respond to.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Oh, like the language she wouldn't know, yes.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Okay, So he did try and speak in other languages. However,
- 26:57Speaker 1: the demons did respond to the and said, only speak
- 26:59Speaker 1: me in German. I'll only respond in German. But there
- 27:01Speaker 1: was one instance where he tried Dutch and the demons
- 27:05Speaker 1: did respond one sentence in Dutch.
- 27:08Speaker 2: And she wouldn't have known.
- 27:10Speaker 1: I don't know if she would or would not have
- 27:12Speaker 1: known Dutch. Apparently, when she was younger she did excel
- 27:14Speaker 1: at languages, so it is possible. Okay, so that one's
- 27:18Speaker 1: kind of inconclusive. This one, however, fucking gets me. This
- 27:24Speaker 1: is fucked right up? You ready for this?
- 27:27Speaker 2: I don't know, Yeah, I'm ready. Let's do it. What is?
- 27:30Speaker 1: One of his tests he conducted was that he would
- 27:32Speaker 1: fill five water bottles with water, some with tap, some
- 27:37Speaker 1: with holy water. Though the bottles were unmarked. The demons
- 27:42Speaker 1: in Analyse would scream only when the holy water was
- 27:45Speaker 1: used on her.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Really apparently, huh.
- 27:52Speaker 1: If that is true. That is fucking wild.
- 27:57Speaker 2: That is so fucked wow. Oh okay, and okay, this
- 28:03Speaker 2: I have to also say, this priest is like consistent,
- 28:06Speaker 2: hey to be he put a lot of effort into.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Put a lot of effort into it, like to be doing.
- 28:11Speaker 2: This this, like he was really trying to help her.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Yes. So, although the local parish priests recommended the analyst
- 28:18Speaker 1: be taken to a psychiatrist, the Michelle's already had their
- 28:22Speaker 1: fill of the psychiatrists and there was no way that
- 28:24Speaker 1: an least now being a twenty two year o adult
- 28:27Speaker 1: could be persuaded to go to a psychiatric clinic.
- 28:30Speaker 4: Dang.
- 28:31Speaker 1: However, remember in last episode again it was told by
- 28:36Speaker 1: one of the physicians that she was no longer capable
- 28:39Speaker 1: of making decisions on her own.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Okay, so she shouldn't have been able to decide that,
- 28:45Speaker 2: you mean, but her parents decided.
- 28:46Speaker 1: That decide that for her.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Yes, I feel like she should be doing both that end,
- 28:52Speaker 2: working with the priest. I mean, why not.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Well, she still is taking some medications, she still is
- 28:59Speaker 1: seen doctors sometimes. She did have one doctor occasionally come
- 29:05Speaker 1: into her exorcisms as well, not all the time, but
- 29:09Speaker 1: it was it was a thing that was still going
- 29:12Speaker 1: on briefly here and there, okay, But psychiatrists specifically was like, yeah, no.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Well they may be sorry, I'm interrupting. Maybe not been
- 29:21Speaker 2: okay with the exorcisms either, yeah.
- 29:24Speaker 1: Right, actially so by October fourth to sixth, somewhere in there,
- 29:29Speaker 1: it's either fourth, fifth, or sixth, two weeks after, or
- 29:32Speaker 1: maybe it's all three, I don't know. Two weeks after
- 29:36Speaker 1: Father Wrens had begun the exorcisms, the demonic personalities weakened
- 29:41Speaker 1: and spoke less frequently. Then on October seventh, seventh, another
- 29:46Speaker 1: to grett All prescription for Analyse was being renewed and filled,
- 29:52Speaker 1: and that same evening, after she's taking her medications, the
- 29:55Speaker 1: demons returned in full force, even uttering a aparently a
- 30:01Speaker 1: horse scream and high pitched laugh simultaneously out of Analyse.
- 30:09Speaker 2: And is that like, okay, I just I don't know
- 30:11Speaker 2: if it was meant to be like that? But was
- 30:13Speaker 2: that correlated with the medication?
- 30:14Speaker 3: You think, well, that's kind of how that's kind of
- 30:17Speaker 3: what it led them to start believing that maybe the medication,
- 30:22Speaker 3: the prescribed drugs, was having an effect on the demons
- 30:25Speaker 3: and the possessions over Analyse.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Maybe it was allowing them in or.
- 30:29Speaker 3: Fueling them or something potentially or fueling whatever issues she
- 30:35Speaker 3: had going on, whether it be medical or demonic or anything.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Right on October thirteenth, a strange new development occurred. Analyse
- 30:44Speaker 3: began receiving messages obstinately from the Virgin Mary. By October sixteenth,
- 30:51Speaker 3: an Lise was told by her that she would become
- 30:54Speaker 3: entirely free by October, which it's already October, but.
- 31:00Speaker 2: So by like the end of the month, probably like dying.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Yeah. Things however, didn't end in October. The torment, the exorcism, rituals,
- 31:10Speaker 1: and everything would continue four months. She would continue to
- 31:16Speaker 1: have conversations or visions or dreams of the Virgin Mary,
- 31:20Speaker 1: along with conversations, visions and dreams from the Lord, amongst
- 31:25Speaker 1: many different things. But this we're getting way too deep
- 31:27Speaker 1: into the information for us to really touch on that.
- 31:30Speaker 1: But the fact is that she was seeing these demon
- 31:34Speaker 1: faces and being possed by demons as well as angels,
- 31:37Speaker 1: and the Lord and the Virgin Mary communicating with.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Her, and this shit's been going on for years, really, right, yeah.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Pretty much? So, Yeah, I can't imagine going through that
- 31:50Speaker 1: for so long. No, So in April, however, an Alice
- 31:56Speaker 1: begged her sister to warn her if anyone was planning
- 31:58Speaker 1: on taking her to the physicians, and she expressedly did
- 32:01Speaker 1: not want to see a doctor. She wanted to see
- 32:04Speaker 1: this through. Her torture and pain kept going. She went
- 32:09Speaker 1: through fits of muscle contractions, being becoming rigidly stiff, screaming,
- 32:15Speaker 1: I put creaming.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Oh boy, I forgot the.
- 32:20Speaker 1: S screaming, thrashing about biting herself, hitting herself, she compelled.
- 32:27Speaker 1: She felt compelled to pray for hours on end, all
- 32:32Speaker 1: while going through exorcisms on a weekly basis. By June,
- 32:37Speaker 1: she become a frail person, super frail person, just like
- 32:40Speaker 1: we were discussing with a sunken in face from malnourishment.
- 32:46Speaker 1: She's essentially starving herself at this point.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Yeah, Like it's almost just amazing shows like her strength
- 32:54Speaker 2: that she's lasted this long. Really, I go.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Five hours without food and McDonald's is like only a
- 33:00Speaker 1: drive away, and I'm just like starting to be itchy
- 33:03Speaker 1: for it.
- 33:03Speaker 2: I'm like, hmm, well, remember I went a little longer
- 33:05Speaker 2: than usual today without eating, and I was like, my
- 33:08Speaker 2: vision was worried.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Yeah, You're like, I can't see ship, I'm going blind.
- 33:11Speaker 2: It was just like something was in there. Just my
- 33:14Speaker 2: eyes weren't working, and I was like, I need a
- 33:15Speaker 2: freaking granola bar or something nourishment. So the fact that
- 33:21Speaker 2: she's just going, yeah, I would, I'm like wow, like strength,
- 33:27Speaker 2: like strength, she's just really.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Yeah, she's Her parents said she was drinking fruit juice
- 33:33Speaker 1: and milk.
- 33:34Speaker 2: However, that's good, it's something.
- 33:36Speaker 1: It's something. Apparently there were occasions where she would drink
- 33:40Speaker 1: like leaders at a time.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Really yeah, when the demons allowed her to.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Yeah, but if they did try to feed her, like
- 33:49Speaker 1: even force feed her, because they're trying to give her,
- 33:52Speaker 1: get her to eat something, she would refuse. She would
- 33:55Speaker 1: tightly close her lips and mouth and just like there's
- 33:59Speaker 1: no way you're getting in her mouth, Like you're not
- 34:02Speaker 1: feeding her, you just can't. She's absolutely refusing. On June thirtieth,
- 34:08Speaker 1: she went through another exorcism, just like all the rest,
- 34:11Speaker 1: with prayers, thrashing about, screaming, severe bouts of rigidity, and analyse,
- 34:19Speaker 1: kneeling and standing, kneeling and standing repeatedly. However, at this
- 34:25Speaker 1: point she is so weak she can't do it on
- 34:29Speaker 1: her own.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. Okay, so how's she doing it?
- 34:32Speaker 1: Well, she can't walk on her own, so she can't.
- 34:35Speaker 1: She can barely stand on her own. But so she
- 34:37Speaker 1: she can do it, but she needs help and she
- 34:40Speaker 1: like she demands, She's like, no, I need to do this.
- 34:43Speaker 1: So her family is helping her stand and kneel, and
- 34:46Speaker 1: they put a pillow on the floor so she could kneel,
- 34:48Speaker 1: to try and protect her because she's like just break, yeah,
- 34:53Speaker 1: and it's the only thing they can do to like
- 34:55Speaker 1: try and she's thrashing, like freaking out. Otherwise, they're the
- 35:00Speaker 1: only thing that they can do to try and come
- 35:01Speaker 1: hurt during these exorcisms. Then, on July first, at seven
- 35:07Speaker 1: o'clock in the morning, an Lisa's father looked into Analisa's
- 35:11Speaker 1: room and saw her sleeping. So he went off to work,
- 35:14Speaker 1: just like another day of dealing with these extorcisms. He's
- 35:17Speaker 1: got to pay the bills, it's going to come back
- 35:19Speaker 1: home and trying to take care of his daughter and
- 35:22Speaker 1: his family. I'm However, an hour into his shift, his
- 35:26Speaker 1: wife called and told him that Annalise had died.
- 35:30Speaker 2: Oh so maybe when he looked in there, she was
- 35:32Speaker 2: actually passed away.
- 35:33Speaker 1: Yeah, she most likely was not sleeping.
- 35:37Speaker 2: Oh and here he was just like, oh good, she's
- 35:39Speaker 2: getting some rest and want to go off to work. Yeah,
- 35:42Speaker 2: oh my heart.
- 35:44Speaker 1: That's a little heartbreak moment for sure.
- 35:46Speaker 2: It is it. Ah, like that's his daughter. Yeah, and
- 35:51Speaker 2: he and and there's no lack of effort like this
- 35:54Speaker 2: family has done, burkin. I feel like almost everything really.
- 35:57Speaker 1: However, I do want to say at least like there's
- 36:01Speaker 1: some satisfaction in knowing she's not suffering anymore.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Like I know.
- 36:08Speaker 1: If you have, like, let's put it in this perspective,
- 36:10Speaker 1: if you have like the family pet who's getting old
- 36:12Speaker 1: and old and old, and they're just like they can
- 36:14Speaker 1: hardly stand or walk and they're so sick and cancer,
- 36:18Speaker 1: it's better to take them to the vet and put
- 36:21Speaker 1: them down if you can without that suffering. It sucks.
- 36:24Speaker 1: It so sucks.
- 36:25Speaker 2: Yeah, at some point it's like you're just the pets, especially,
- 36:28Speaker 2: like you're just keeping them alive for yourself.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Yes, not that I'm saying you should go and fucking
- 36:33Speaker 1: put your daughter out of.
- 36:34Speaker 2: A misery or something like that.
- 36:35Speaker 1: You shouldn't do that, but there's that relief in knowing
- 36:38Speaker 1: that the suffering is over.
- 36:39Speaker 2: Oh yeah, because she was really really such she was suffering.
- 36:44Speaker 1: So medical examiners concluded that Analysa's death was caused by starvation,
- 36:52Speaker 1: which was possibly aggravated by physical exertion. I couldn't find
- 36:57Speaker 1: an exact number, but by the time of Anne Lisa's death,
- 37:00Speaker 1: she weighed around ninety pounds.
- 37:03Speaker 2: Really hey, yeah, and we don't all like how tall
- 37:06Speaker 2: or anything she was.
- 37:08Speaker 1: I'm not too sure on her height. No, I've never
- 37:10Speaker 1: looked it up. I'm sure you might be able to
- 37:11Speaker 1: find that pretty easily.
- 37:13Speaker 2: But still like grown ass woman weighing ninety pounds.
- 37:18Speaker 1: They found her inner organs to be completely healthy, her
- 37:21Speaker 1: brain had no damage hm and nothing that they could
- 37:26Speaker 1: find would even cause a microscopic seizure.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Seriously, her body.
- 37:36Speaker 1: When there was an autopsy done on her, her brain
- 37:38Speaker 1: was completely normal, nothing that would ever even cause a microscopic.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Seed and no damage to the brain whatsoever.
- 37:46Speaker 1: No brain's completely fine, her organ's completely fine.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Holy shit.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Though apparently her pupil her pupils were unusually dilated.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Yeah, but that could honestly just be from the fact
- 38:02Speaker 2: that she was like malmourished in the sense.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Maybe. What is also strange about the cause of her
- 38:09Speaker 1: death though, is that she was able to get out
- 38:11Speaker 1: of bed repeatedly the night before she died, even with help.
- 38:15Speaker 1: That is extremely strange. It should be impossible for someone
- 38:19Speaker 1: on the verge of death from starvation to do that.
- 38:23Speaker 1: Her mobility is confirmed by the examiner's observations that she
- 38:27Speaker 1: had no bed sores, which is not normal for someone
- 38:31Speaker 1: found with starvation. Really, hey, so she was moving, she
- 38:36Speaker 1: was getting out of bed, even with help. She was
- 38:39Speaker 1: able to get out of bed, get moved, get motion,
- 38:45Speaker 1: not sit in one place. Someone who's starving is not
- 38:48Speaker 1: going to have the energy, the ability, or the strength
- 38:51Speaker 1: to do any of those.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Okay, So what is that she did? Confused?
- 38:56Speaker 1: She had strength she shouldn't have had medically.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Okay, I see, Okay, I'm just thinking, Like what I
- 39:04Speaker 2: was thinking is was that was she should not have
- 39:07Speaker 2: been dying or said it was starving?
- 39:11Speaker 1: It was it was.
- 39:13Speaker 2: It was just amazing that she was even able to
- 39:15Speaker 2: get out of bed the night.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Yeah, she was essentially a skeleton walking around. That's not possible,
- 39:20Speaker 1: but it was happening.
- 39:23Speaker 2: Hmmm. Wow, my rain is just a turning.
- 39:28Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a big head scratcher for me.
- 39:31Speaker 4: Yeah, Like I was like, I was.
- 39:33Speaker 1: Saying earlier, trying to play that neutral path. Even like
- 39:37Speaker 1: adrenaline can kick in and give someone superhuman strength, you're
- 39:40Speaker 1: not gonna like that. That doesn't make sense. Adrenaline isn't
- 39:43Speaker 1: going to kick in at that point in your life.
- 39:45Speaker 1: If it does, it might kick in for thirty seconds.
- 39:47Speaker 1: It's not going to keep you moving for days on end, praying,
- 39:51Speaker 1: kneeling up and down, up and down, getting out of bed,
- 39:53Speaker 1: preventing bed stores when you are literally about to die.
- 39:57Speaker 2: It's like the demons are giving her power or something,
- 40:00Speaker 2: or or the angels.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Or yeah, yeah, or the demons were you know, or
- 40:08Speaker 1: something treating her like a marionette or some sort something
- 40:11Speaker 1: else was giving her something to move, which is fucking crazy.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Blows my fucking like, holy shit. How can you like
- 40:21Speaker 1: look at something like that and not think that there's
- 40:23Speaker 1: other forces at plate, Whether you look at it religiously,
- 40:26Speaker 1: whether you look at it spiritually, whether you look at
- 40:28Speaker 1: it like I don't fucking paranormally, whatever, there's something else
- 40:33Speaker 1: at play.
- 40:33Speaker 2: Well, Yeah, that there just has to be, Like with
- 40:35Speaker 2: that autopsy that it just makes no sense.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Yeah, moving on though, an Lisa's parents and father Alt
- 40:44Speaker 1: and father Wrens were charged with negligent homicide. The prosecution
- 40:50Speaker 1: requested that, if found guilty, no involved parties be jailed. Instead,
- 40:55Speaker 1: the prosecution asked that the priests be fined and that
- 40:59Speaker 1: the parents had suffered enough, which is actually allowed in
- 41:03Speaker 1: journey court. Apparently, so, on March thirtieth, nineteen seventy eight,
- 41:08Speaker 1: the trial began. All but one doctor that was questioned
- 41:12Speaker 1: firmly asserted that Analse was not possessed, but she suffered
- 41:16Speaker 1: psychological illness because of her strict religious upbringing and her epilepsies.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Oh I'm sorry, Okay, I'm listening to you, but I'm
- 41:26Speaker 2: also like, what the fuck's a point of this? I know,
- 41:28Speaker 2: it's like, it's just ridiculous, really, the fact that this
- 41:31Speaker 2: has to go to a trial, right, but.
- 41:33Speaker 1: This fun fact, this is one of the few cases
- 41:36Speaker 1: out there of exorcisms and possession that has actually gone
- 41:41Speaker 1: to trial.
- 41:42Speaker 2: Okay.
- 41:44Speaker 1: The one discerning doctor that did stand against the others
- 41:48Speaker 1: Richard Roth. He had been a participant in some of
- 41:51Speaker 1: the exorcisms and allegedly had told Annalise that there is
- 41:56Speaker 1: no injection against the devil.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Okay.
- 42:01Speaker 1: The events argued that the exorcism was a constitutional right
- 42:05Speaker 1: the unrestricted exercise of religious belief under the unrestricted exercise
- 42:10Speaker 1: of religious belief, but the court ruled otherwise. The court
- 42:14Speaker 1: concluded that the exorcism rights that were performed negligently. Sorry,
- 42:22Speaker 1: the court concluded that the exorcism rights were performed negligently.
- 42:28Speaker 1: I can't speak words.
- 42:29Speaker 2: You're doing good.
- 42:30Speaker 1: And charged Annalise's parents and the priest with negligence resulting
- 42:35Speaker 1: in homicide. They were all subsequently found guilty of men's lies.
- 42:40Speaker 1: Oh really, and each were sentenced to six months in
- 42:44Speaker 1: jail with three years of probation. The priest and the
- 42:48Speaker 1: church that he belonged to was also subject to a
- 42:51Speaker 1: small find which was little more than the court fees. However,
- 42:56Speaker 1: the jail time was suspended completely, so no one served
- 43:01Speaker 1: any jail time.
- 43:02Speaker 2: That was going to be my question.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Yeah, just like in the movie Exorcism of Emily Rose,
- 43:07Speaker 1: no jail time was served.
- 43:09Speaker 2: I mean, they, like she, they all consented to this
- 43:13Speaker 2: and everything. So that's why I'm just like even her,
- 43:15Speaker 2: this is what she wanted.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Yeah, But I mean, take two people standing in a
- 43:20Speaker 1: kitchen and one says shoot me, the other one says
- 43:23Speaker 1: okay and pulls the trigger, it's consent. I mean, that's
- 43:28Speaker 1: not really how you know. There's laws against that shit.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Stay, I guess, And we don't technically know she was
- 43:35Speaker 2: influenced heavily or whatever by her parents.
- 43:38Speaker 1: Well that's exactly the religious upbringing, right. Yeah, So to
- 43:42Speaker 1: end this all off, in nineteen eighty four, the bishops
- 43:47Speaker 1: made a position petition sorry to the Vatican regarding the
- 43:51Speaker 1: exorcism right, and a commission passed on the decision that
- 43:55Speaker 1: she was mentally ill not possessed.
- 44:00Speaker 4: The Church, yes, huh, okay, the Vatican, not just the Church,
- 44:09Speaker 4: the Church of all Church, the Vatican.
- 44:12Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. I just I honestly think this story.
- 44:15Speaker 2: It's just like almost over my head. It's just so
- 44:17Speaker 2: wild because I just feel like there should be more
- 44:19Speaker 2: of this shit going on if it was a thing.
- 44:21Speaker 1: You know, well there's arguments on both sides of that.
- 44:25Speaker 1: But like I said, I only scrape the surface of
- 44:29Speaker 1: this case. We this could be like a fucking twelve
- 44:32Speaker 1: part or.
- 44:32Speaker 2: If we wanted to you, yeah, you can probably real
- 44:35Speaker 2: dive in.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Yeah. So if you want to read in on more
- 44:39Speaker 1: in this case, good luck. I bid you ado on that,
- 44:42Speaker 1: because you're gonna be off doing your stuff for a while.
- 44:44Speaker 1: It'll be a while before we see you over here again.
- 44:48Speaker 2: But it's who well, yeah, even just this case, like
- 44:53Speaker 2: you do spend We spend lots of time researching, but
- 44:55Speaker 2: you definitely spend like way more time I've.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Probably put in I would say fifteen to sixteen hours
- 45:03Speaker 1: researching this case.
- 45:05Speaker 2: You're like me, I take a really long time researching.
- 45:08Speaker 2: You do like really alone.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Well, let's let's have a little cheers.
- 45:13Speaker 2: To at least maybe there's like a drip left.
- 45:16Speaker 1: You can have a sip of mine, our official badass
- 45:19Speaker 1: of the day for everything she went through. She she
- 45:22Speaker 1: deserves that.
- 45:23Speaker 2: Yeah, she definitely does that, poor thing.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Cheers to her, and cheers to you, guys.
- 45:28Speaker 2: Cheers to you, guys.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Thanks for listening
- 45:31Speaker 2: What I was pointing at you to say, Stay wicked, Oh,
- 45:35Speaker 2: stay wicked.
