- 0:07Speaker 1: It's that Happy Family's podcast. Okay, Kylie, So technically we're
- 0:14Speaker 1: on holidays, but we're trying to keep the podcast going
- 0:17Speaker 1: through the break. We've got some great content for summer,
- 0:20Speaker 1: but we're going to keep it really short, really tight.
- 0:22Speaker 2: This is the busiest week of the year.
- 0:24Speaker 1: We've got Christmas. It's this week. It's this Sunday Christmas.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Can you believe it? Before we dive into three secrets
- 0:33Speaker 1: to getting through the busiest week of the year, you
- 0:35Speaker 1: found something on Instagram and we kind of just have it.
- 0:38Speaker 1: We've got to have a listen to this for any
- 0:40Speaker 1: for any parent of a teenager or someone who's going
- 0:42Speaker 1: to be a parent of a teenager one day, just
- 0:44Speaker 1: bear this in mind and say this to them when
- 0:46Speaker 1: they're giving you some attitude.
- 0:48Speaker 3: I want to talk to the teenagers right now who
- 0:51Speaker 3: get annoyed with their mom. I'm going to tell you something.
- 0:58Speaker 3: There was a time when you loved her so much,
- 1:02Speaker 3: you were so obsessed with your mom that you would
- 1:08Speaker 3: beg to watch her poop. That's right. You would sit
- 1:11Speaker 3: outside her door, banging and crying to be let in.
- 1:18Speaker 3: And if she gave up and opened that door to
- 1:22Speaker 3: let you in, you know what you tried to do.
- 1:23Speaker 3: You tried to sit on her lap like some kind
- 1:26Speaker 3: of sick go stalker weirdo. Okay, so the next time
- 1:31Speaker 3: you start looking at your mom feeling too good for her,
- 1:34Speaker 3: she's getting on your nerves, remember that.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Okay, good, that's so good. So that is Anna dot
- 1:41Speaker 1: lind dot Thomas. Anna dot lind dot Thomas. We found
- 1:44Speaker 1: her on Instagram. She's also on TikTok and she's pretty
- 1:47Speaker 1: down funny. She says some funny stuff. Anyway, busiest week
- 1:50Speaker 1: of the yekli. Let's get down to it because people
- 1:52Speaker 1: are busy and they don't want to listen too much
- 1:54Speaker 1: comedy on Instagram, they can find themselves. I want to
- 1:56Speaker 1: hear from you. How do we keep calming, How do
- 1:58Speaker 1: we hold it together? How do we make everything work
- 2:01Speaker 1: when it comes to getting through a week like this?
- 2:03Speaker 1: Instead of me giving the advice today, this is your specialty,
- 2:06Speaker 1: because this week I kind of well, I take the
- 2:08Speaker 1: kids surfing, I take them to the beach, I hang
- 2:10Speaker 1: out and watch movies with them. You're the one that's
- 2:13Speaker 1: doing all the hard work. So what's your advice.
- 2:15Speaker 4: I've just got three bits of advice.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Okay.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Number one hit us with it.
- 2:19Speaker 4: Be intentional. You need to plan. If you've got four
- 2:22Speaker 4: days leading up to Christmas, what do those four days
- 2:25Speaker 4: look like. You don't have to have every minute taken
- 2:28Speaker 4: into account, but you need to know what are the
- 2:30Speaker 4: most important things you need to get done.
- 2:32Speaker 1: You want to do this, so it's saying it to
- 2:33Speaker 1: do lists.
- 2:34Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess. So just make sure the important things
- 2:37Speaker 4: are done because we can so easily get sidetracked with
- 2:41Speaker 4: all of the trivial stuff and then come Christmas Day
- 2:44Speaker 4: where flustered because none of the stuff that was important
- 2:47Speaker 4: got done in the leader.
- 2:49Speaker 1: But that's also part of the reason that I'm on
- 2:51Speaker 1: my list. I've actually got a list of all the
- 2:52Speaker 1: stuff that I've had to chase up. But on my
- 2:55Speaker 1: list every day is play with the kids. That's right,
- 2:58Speaker 1: because I don't want to get to Christmas Day and
- 2:59Speaker 1: be like, oh my goodness, we're halfway through the holidays
- 3:01Speaker 1: already and I haven't even spent any time with the kids.
- 3:03Speaker 1: So put that on the list as well. What's your
- 3:09Speaker 1: second idea?
- 3:09Speaker 2: Rather than being intentional, learnt to say no all It's
- 3:13Speaker 2: so easy again to just say yes to everything because
- 3:17Speaker 2: you don't want to miss out do you want the
- 3:18Speaker 2: kids to have the excitement of, you know, going to
- 3:21Speaker 2: all the Christmas parties and being with their friends.
- 3:24Speaker 4: But if it doesn't fit in with the family plan,
- 3:26Speaker 4: then you just need to say no.
- 3:27Speaker 1: So what have you said no to?
- 3:29Speaker 4: Well, we've sitt non to a couple of things, have we? Yeah,
- 3:31Speaker 4: we had a community don't even know. We had a
- 3:33Speaker 4: community Christmas party which we.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, it just didn't fit in.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Yep, yep. For the school.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:39Speaker 1: And there's also the church one that we didn't go
- 3:41Speaker 1: to as well because it didn't fit. We just couldn't
- 3:43Speaker 1: make it happen. You know what I've been doing. I've
- 3:45Speaker 1: been getting text messages, emails and phone calls from media
- 3:49Speaker 1: outlets saying we need you on the radio. Can you
- 3:51Speaker 1: do an interview for us? Can you? And I've been
- 3:52Speaker 1: saying I'm not taking any interviews across summer. I'm with
- 3:55Speaker 1: my family. In fact, I've tried not to answer the
- 3:57Speaker 1: phone at all, but every now and again I've answered
- 3:59Speaker 1: it and then I've had to say nope to them.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Well, unfortunately, if you didn't answer the phone, we might
- 4:03Speaker 4: not have known that our daughtter was sitting on the
- 4:05Speaker 4: side of the road.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Which is why I've got to answer the phone, right,
- 4:07Speaker 1: I mean, I have to answer the phone. What's your
- 4:10Speaker 1: third one? Other than you've got be intentional say no.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Well, after the last few weeks that we've had and
- 4:15Speaker 4: the situations we've found ourselves in, it might look and
- 4:18Speaker 4: feel like it's out of place, but it actually fits
- 4:20Speaker 4: in beautifully. It's people matter. Things don't right, and when
- 4:24Speaker 4: we think about Christmas, we get so caught up often
- 4:28Speaker 4: in all of this stuff. But the reality is what
- 4:32Speaker 4: matters most is the people in your life and that
- 4:34Speaker 4: they know that they're loved and time with them is
- 4:37Speaker 4: so much more beneficial and strengthening to the family unit
- 4:42Speaker 4: than any gift.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Yeah, great reminder, And if the kids are giving attitude reminder,
- 4:46Speaker 1: just remind them when you were young, you love.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Me so much? Used to what to watch? People poople,
- 4:53Speaker 2: It's discuss.
- 4:54Speaker 1: The Happy Family's podcast is produced by Justin Rowland for

- 4:58Speaker 1: great week as we move into Christmas, and we will
