Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: I need to share my first world problem that upset
- 0:08Speaker 1: me so hard yesterday. And I am aware that it
- 0:12Speaker 1: is very much a first world problem, and so I
- 0:15Speaker 1: didn't like go back and complain or anything. I just
- 0:18Speaker 1: kind of, you know, dealt with it. But obviously it's
- 0:20Speaker 1: been on my mind. So I'm going to share it
- 0:22Speaker 1: with you.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Okay, can I can I change the mood real quick?
- 0:24Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 0:25Speaker 2: Okay, oh shut up, you're so annoying.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Okay, let's hear about this first world problem. So yesterday,
- 0:36Speaker 1: the kiddos asked if I could get them smasher burgers
- 0:41Speaker 1: from Sonic Sure for dinner. And I was like, you
- 0:44Speaker 1: know what, that's fine because I wasn't trying to cook.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Great so and Mikey was like, cool, I want one too.
- 0:51Speaker 1: So we hop in the car, we go, we order
- 0:54Speaker 1: the food, and then I thought, well, what am I
- 0:55Speaker 1: going to eat for dinner? And I thought, you know what,
- 1:00Speaker 1: why don't I get myself an impossible whopper from Burger
- 1:03Speaker 1: King with some onion rings and call it a night. Okay,
- 1:08Speaker 1: those are vegan options I can eat at Burger King.
- 1:12Speaker 1: So you know what it's like over on that part
- 1:15Speaker 1: of town in South Fargo. It's impossible to make a
- 1:19Speaker 1: left out of that, like.
- 1:21Speaker 2: You might as well just go right, which we did. No,
- 1:24Speaker 2: we did.
- 1:24Speaker 1: We went right on fifty second and had to do
- 1:28Speaker 1: like a loop around to go the back way and
- 1:30Speaker 1: whatever to get to Burger King.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Fine.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Get to the drive through.
- 1:34Speaker 1: I order my impossible whopper and I specify no mayonnaise
- 1:39Speaker 1: because that's that would make it not vegan, and he
- 1:42Speaker 1: reiterates it to me, no mayo, and put on the
- 1:45Speaker 1: screen it says, impossible whopper, no mayo. Excellent. Pull up
- 1:49Speaker 1: to the window. He says, oh, we make those fresh
- 1:52Speaker 1: because like no one's ever ordering those, So can you
- 1:55Speaker 1: pull to the front anyway? Five minutes so I was like, okay,
- 2:00Speaker 1: gets me the we park, get the order. I'm so excited.
- 2:04Speaker 1: We drive home. We all decide to sit around the
- 2:07Speaker 1: dinner table eating our burgers. I deconstruct my impossible whopper.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I throw some onion rings in there and some barbecue
- 2:16Speaker 1: sauce to make it more like a Western whopper. I'm
- 2:18Speaker 1: feeling really good. I take a bite of this whopper and.
- 2:24Speaker 4: There's cheese on it.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Oh no, which makes it not vegan.
- 2:30Speaker 1: And the crazy part is that whoppers do not come
- 2:35Speaker 1: with cheese.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Whoppers do not come with cheese.
- 2:38Speaker 2: It's an add on.
- 2:41Speaker 1: So I didn't say no cheese, because it does not
- 2:44Speaker 1: come with cheese.
- 2:45Speaker 3: If you want your whopper to have cheese on.
- 2:47Speaker 1: It, you have to ask for it. And I didn't
- 2:50Speaker 1: ask for it. So great he took off the mayonnaise
- 2:54Speaker 1: but added a slice of cheese for what reason, And
- 2:58Speaker 1: so I couldn't eat it. And Leah, They're like, we'll
- 3:01Speaker 1: eat it, we'll split it, and I was so irate
- 3:04Speaker 1: that I said no, and I crumpled up the burger
- 3:07Speaker 1: and I threw it in the trash and I wasted
- 3:10Speaker 1: fifteen dollars or whatever it was. And so that is
- 3:14Speaker 1: a very first world problem. I went to bed kind
- 3:17Speaker 1: of hungry, and I was a really poudy brat about it,
- 3:20Speaker 1: and apparently thought I should be a pouty brat about
- 3:23Speaker 1: it here on Big ninety eight point seven.
- 3:25Speaker 3: But I'm not the only one.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Isn't it such a letdown when you're looking forward to
- 3:30Speaker 1: eating something and it doesn't turn out the way you want.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I didn't go back to burger king and complain or
- 3:35Speaker 1: anything like, I'm just out the fifteen dollars. I'm not
- 3:37Speaker 1: a monster. But I am a baby.
- 3:40Speaker 3: I'm so upset. Why are you looking at.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Me like I'm glad to know you handled the situation?
- 3:47Speaker 2: Well I did.
- 3:50Speaker 3: I think kind of.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Why you couldn't have let your kids just eat it?
- 3:53Speaker 2: You had to chuck it?
- 3:55Speaker 1: Okay, maybe I threw it dandro fine, I'm surprised you
- 4:01Speaker 1: didn't bust out a violin honestly.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Well, you know what I would say, Angie, what it's
- 4:07Speaker 2: good to go through some adversity. Things don't happen to you,
- 4:10Speaker 2: they happen for you. And now that explains a lot
- 4:13Speaker 2: about your mood this morning. Here in the Big ninety
- 4:16Speaker 2: eight print seventh Studio.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Celebrating life's little victories.
- 4:24Speaker 5: Every morning we practice gratitude on Big ninety eight point seven.
- 4:27Speaker 4: If I could, I would.
- 4:28Speaker 5: Keep this feeling in a plasket job bust it out
- 4:31Speaker 5: when it was someone's acting hard. Share your little victories
- 4:34Speaker 5: with us at seven oh one two.
- 4:36Speaker 4: Eight oho one ninety eight seven.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Kids.
- 4:38Speaker 4: I also needed to win that day, Angie.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Do you have a little victory for us to get
- 4:43Speaker 2: the day started?
- 4:44Speaker 1: Love Island USA premiered last week, but there are four
- 4:47Speaker 1: hundred and ninety two episodes a week of this show.
- 4:51Speaker 1: It's every single day there's an episode, and because of
- 4:54Speaker 1: when it comes on, it is really difficult for me
- 4:57Speaker 1: to watch in real time because your girl has to
- 5:00Speaker 1: go to sleep. And my sister watches Love Island USA
- 5:03Speaker 1: and she's on the West Coast, so she can really
- 5:06Speaker 1: keep up. And so she was like, when you're caught up,
- 5:09Speaker 1: call me so we can talk about it.
- 5:11Speaker 3: And I kept not being caught up. But for the
- 5:13Speaker 3: first time, I try your sister, Yeah, no, I love
- 5:16Speaker 3: Her'm obsessed her, you know, I love her.
- 5:18Speaker 1: So for the first time since Love Island USA premiere,
- 5:23Speaker 1: and I am completely caught up because they do take
- 5:26Speaker 1: a break on Wednesdays, so I am completely caught up
- 5:30Speaker 1: before tonight's episode. So on the way home from work today,
- 5:35Speaker 1: I can call my sister and we can yap it
- 5:38Speaker 1: up about Love Island USA.
- 5:40Speaker 3: And I am so excited.
- 5:42Speaker 1: And this very much fits in the realm of Little Victory.
- 5:47Speaker 2: But it is a victory, you know who. That is
- 5:49Speaker 2: not a victory for her. Mikey, He'll drive all the
- 5:52Speaker 2: way here to pick you up, and then on the
- 5:54Speaker 2: way home you won't even talk to the poor guy.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Plot twist, he's a Love Island US.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Yes, Hey, that's awesome for him.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Then he's gonna enjoy the discourse. What about you, Gabe,
- 6:06Speaker 3: what's your little victory?
- 6:08Speaker 2: Well, first I want to share Chrissy, she said she
- 6:11Speaker 2: closes on her house in a week. That is a
- 6:15Speaker 2: massive victory. Yes, congratulations. As someone who has sold a
- 6:19Speaker 2: house before and gone through that process, it can be
- 6:23Speaker 2: sometimes it's not, but it can be an extremely stressful
- 6:27Speaker 2: thing to deal with, and you're just kind of it's
- 6:29Speaker 2: a lot of hurry up and wait, hurry, hurry up
- 6:31Speaker 2: and wait. So congratulations to Chrissy. That is awesome. Hopefully
- 6:36Speaker 2: you know your next living residence is a wonderful time
- 6:39Speaker 2: for you.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Chrissy the homeowner, I like.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Right, good for you, my little victory. I gotta tell
- 6:46Speaker 2: you this, On a scale of little victories, this is
- 6:49Speaker 2: about as big as calling my sister to talk about love.
- 6:51Speaker 6: I O.
- 6:53Speaker 2: I have you know how I had told you by
- 6:55Speaker 2: the end of the year, I had wanted to try
- 6:56Speaker 2: to reach one thousand elo in yes, oh, yes, which
- 7:01Speaker 2: is which is a very good score for an average
- 7:05Speaker 2: player like me. Yeah, for someone who's really good, you know,
- 7:09Speaker 2: that's there. They would laugh at one thousand. But for me,
- 7:12Speaker 2: that would be very good. Yeah, And I had plateaued
- 7:14Speaker 2: for the longest time. I could not get like past
- 7:18Speaker 2: six hundred. I was just stuck around like five point
- 7:21Speaker 2: fifty five seventy five. I'd kind of flirt with it,
- 7:24Speaker 2: and I just, you know, I'd win two games, lose too.
- 7:26Speaker 2: I'd win four and then i'd lose three, and I
- 7:28Speaker 2: just couldn't get there. But yesterday, your boy did a
- 7:32Speaker 2: tiny bit of chess studying via YouTube. There was just
- 7:35Speaker 2: this thing in this opening with the black pieces that
- 7:38Speaker 2: I could not, for the life of me, figure out
- 7:40Speaker 2: where to put my rook And I know you are
- 7:42Speaker 2: bored to tears right now. No, no, no, But I watched
- 7:46Speaker 2: a YouTube video on things I could look for in
- 7:49Speaker 2: this certain opening and I went on an eight game
- 7:53Speaker 2: winning streak in chess yesterday. So if I can win
- 7:56Speaker 2: I think like two or three more games today, depending
- 7:59Speaker 2: on what my opponents are rated, I can finally get
- 8:02Speaker 2: past six hundred. That's major. Oh, it's so annoying. You know.
- 8:07Speaker 2: If you want to wake up and feel dumb, all right,
- 8:09Speaker 2: start playing chess.
- 8:11Speaker 4: You gotta start.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Playing with Mikey.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Mikey is a Mikey taught me chess back in nineteen
- 8:15Speaker 1: ninety six or something like. Mikey is a really avid
- 8:21Speaker 1: chess player. I don't know how good or bad.
- 8:23Speaker 2: He might be way too good for that.
- 8:24Speaker 3: I hate No, I'm sure you'd be fine, but you
- 8:26Speaker 3: guys should play.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it'd be wonderful. It'd be wonderful. So hopefully we
- 8:30Speaker 2: can break six hundred today and we can continue on
- 8:33Speaker 2: to this journey of one thousands.
- 8:35Speaker 3: I want an update.
- 8:38Speaker 4: Don't you tell me your full chal.
- 8:44Speaker 2: This This story starts out a bit strange here, but
- 8:50Speaker 2: there was a tourist in China who is lucky to
- 8:53Speaker 2: be alive after surviving seven days lost at see Okay,
- 8:57Speaker 2: This thirty nine year old accidentally fell into the ocean.
- 9:00Speaker 2: He clung to a booie and survived by eating raw
- 9:04Speaker 2: crabs caught with his bare hands.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Wow.
- 9:07Speaker 2: After drifting nearly for a week and suffering obviously some
- 9:11Speaker 2: dehydration and some hallucinations, he finally spotted, or he was
- 9:15Speaker 2: finally spotted and rescued by a local fisherman. If you
- 9:19Speaker 2: don't know this about our dear Angie, one of the
- 9:21Speaker 2: first things I learned about Angie is that if there
- 9:23Speaker 2: was a zombie apocalypse, or if there was some survival moment. Yeah,
- 9:29Speaker 2: she is, she's hopping out. Okay, she is kind of
- 9:32Speaker 2: just gonna call it quits. Yes, uh, you and my
- 9:34Speaker 2: wife bonded over that day one of meeting you.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Yes, I'm not a survivalist. Like, if it comes down
- 9:41Speaker 1: to it, if I have to do anything even kind
- 9:43Speaker 1: of extreme to save my life, I guess I'm dying.
- 9:47Speaker 1: I can't do this over especially this guy at seat.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Your girl can't even swim like I would have. Okay,
- 9:53Speaker 1: I will just die in the motion I drown. So
- 9:55Speaker 1: I'm very impressed by this guy also eating that he
- 9:59Speaker 1: caught crab and ate raw crab.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Look, I don't like it.
- 10:03Speaker 2: You're out. I'm well okay, let's let's just take this
- 10:06Speaker 2: down just a tiny notch here, Angie, instead of maybe
- 10:08Speaker 2: making it a survival situation. Okay, and I did put
- 10:12Speaker 2: this on Facebook this morning. Let us know at seven
- 10:15Speaker 2: oh one two eight zero one nine eight seven or
- 10:18Speaker 2: on Facebook, of course, what would be the strangest thing
- 10:22Speaker 2: you've ever ate? Maybe not to survive, because you know
- 10:25Speaker 2: you will go to certain lengths to keep yourself alive, obviously,
- 10:29Speaker 2: but is there any thing really strange, really gross you've
- 10:32Speaker 2: ate just to try it before.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, I've eaten to be polite.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Like there's stuff I've eaten just to be polite as
- 10:40Speaker 1: a guest in someone's all Oh, and you knew you
- 10:42Speaker 1: didn't like it, And I did not want to do it.
- 10:45Speaker 1: I know I'm vegan now, but way back in the
- 10:47Speaker 1: day I was not. And I was at a Super
- 10:49Speaker 1: Bowl party and someone handed me.
- 10:52Speaker 3: What looked like a cupful of fruit cocktail and I thought, okay, cool,
- 10:58Speaker 3: I'll dive in. I'll dive in.
- 11:00Speaker 1: No, it was a cup full of There was fruit
- 11:03Speaker 1: in it, but there was also octopus.
- 11:07Speaker 2: I don't why. Yeah, I couldn't do that well.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I ate it because I am a people pleaser and
- 11:12Speaker 1: I didn't want to be rude. And it was like, yeah,
- 11:15Speaker 1: so good octopus love.
- 11:18Speaker 2: So good as you're throwing it over your back shoulder there.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Was I choked it all down, but never again. That
- 11:24Speaker 1: was not Yeah, that would be rough.
- 11:26Speaker 2: I don't think I could do that either, even like
- 11:29Speaker 2: even now, I know there are people who enjoy it
- 11:31Speaker 2: and like it, but even just seeing it kind of
- 11:33Speaker 2: weirds me out. I can't I can't do it well.
- 11:35Speaker 1: And they're so smart that it almost feels like really.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Evil, right, Steven, we have online. Stephen's strangest thing you've
- 11:44Speaker 2: ever eaten nails.
- 11:45Speaker 6: We should not be eating snails.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Who looks at a snail in the.
- 11:48Speaker 7: Dirt and thinks, hey, I should eat that?
- 11:50Speaker 3: It's just gross.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Yeah, Nope, I'm probably out on that too. I'd have
- 11:53Speaker 2: to be that have to be not French.
- 11:55Speaker 3: You don't want French cuisine, the f GTGA.
- 11:58Speaker 2: I'd be out that have to I'm on a desert
- 12:01Speaker 2: island and I have a bonfire going. You know, you
- 12:03Speaker 2: can probably burn something enough to where it just tastes
- 12:06Speaker 2: like jar Yeah. I could probably do that to keep
- 12:09Speaker 2: myself alive. The strangest thing I have ever consumed was
- 12:14Speaker 2: this was probably four years ago. There's someone listening who
- 12:17Speaker 2: will remember this, but there was ranch flavored ice cream.
- 12:23Speaker 2: And at the beginning, you know, you take a little
- 12:26Speaker 2: scoop and you eat it, and at the beginning, it's
- 12:29Speaker 2: not really that bad. It kind of just tastes like
- 12:32Speaker 2: ice cream, right, like some regular vanilla ice cream. I
- 12:35Speaker 2: am not kidding. Five to seven seconds later, there is
- 12:39Speaker 2: this after taste that it it kind of tastes like
- 12:43Speaker 2: bad moldy cheese ice cream. It's so gross. Yeah, that
- 12:48Speaker 2: why okay?
- 12:48Speaker 3: But why did.
- 12:49Speaker 2: You do this? Well, I was a radio guy and
- 12:51Speaker 2: it's a radio bit that wasn't really I didn't do
- 12:53Speaker 2: it on my free will per se. Yeah. We also
- 12:57Speaker 2: have got Hannah on the phone. Hannah, what's strangest thing
- 12:59Speaker 2: you read?
- 13:00Speaker 6: At a company pot luck? I ate three bites of
- 13:02Speaker 6: what I thought was tuna salad. It was some kind
- 13:06Speaker 6: of experimental sardine and pickle concoction. And the person who
- 13:10Speaker 6: made it was standing right there, so I had to
- 13:12Speaker 6: just keep smiling through the pain.
- 13:14Speaker 2: That sounds a lot like your story.
- 13:16Speaker 1: That's sardines with pickles. That person is the villain of
- 13:21Speaker 1: her office place.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Like, that's horrible.
- 13:23Speaker 2: We do have Kates as well here on Big ninety
- 13:25Speaker 2: eight point seven's Facebook page. Strangest thing alligator alligator?
- 13:31Speaker 3: Yeah, that would be chewy?
- 13:33Speaker 2: Yeah? Or like what state fair were you at that
- 13:36Speaker 2: had that on as? That was at the Minnesota State
- 13:38Speaker 2: Fair for sure.
- 13:41Speaker 5: In the world of rules in gray Areas, one morning
- 13:43Speaker 5: show dares to ask the hard questions.
- 13:46Speaker 2: We both know you guilty.
- 13:47Speaker 4: He's guilty. Is it legal? You're guilty of the worst
- 13:51Speaker 4: crime of all? On Big ninety eight point seven.
- 13:56Speaker 2: With all of the big summer blockbusters hitting theaters all right,
- 13:59Speaker 2: for for example, Toy Story five on the way here
- 14:02Speaker 2: on June nineteenth, a lot of people are asking the
- 14:06Speaker 2: age old questions, and by a lot of people, I
- 14:08Speaker 2: mean me and Google. Is it legal to sneak candy
- 14:14Speaker 2: or snacks or what a beer? Insert whatever?
- 14:17Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 14:17Speaker 2: Well beer maybe, But is it legal to sneak these
- 14:20Speaker 2: snacks into a theater?
- 14:21Speaker 7: Well?
- 14:21Speaker 2: Good news. In North Dakota and in Minnesota, you're not
- 14:25Speaker 2: going to jail because you stuffed a family sized bag
- 14:28Speaker 2: of sour Patch kids into your hoodie or your purse. Yay,
- 14:32Speaker 2: it is not a crime. But movie theaters are private businesses,
- 14:37Speaker 2: which means they can make their own rules. So if
- 14:40Speaker 2: the theater says no outside food or drinks and you
- 14:43Speaker 2: stroll in with enough snacks to survive a three day
- 14:45Speaker 2: camping trip, they can ask you to throw them away
- 14:49Speaker 2: or even ask you to leave.
- 14:51Speaker 3: The eighth fair.
- 14:52Speaker 2: They could also potentially just ban you from the theater
- 14:55Speaker 2: in general.
- 14:56Speaker 3: So if you it is also fair.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Yeah. If you have a go to theater that you
- 14:59Speaker 2: love and you love seeing the movies there, you really
- 15:02Speaker 2: like the chairs or maybe even the lay down beds,
- 15:04Speaker 2: whatever the case may be, and you want to keep
- 15:06Speaker 2: going there, they could ban you if you are caught
- 15:09Speaker 2: sneaking food in, you know, one too many times, you know,
- 15:12Speaker 2: I'm sure there's a couple strike rule with that. Yeah,
- 15:14Speaker 2: but it is possible as they are a private business.
- 15:18Speaker 1: I am someone who is a rule follower, and I
- 15:22Speaker 1: have no no, no, well, not since I've lived here.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Not since i've lived here. I've okay, I've bit the
- 15:29Speaker 3: bullet and spent four hundred and ninety five dollars on
- 15:31Speaker 3: a popcorn.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Okay, but this is the one where if I see
- 15:36Speaker 1: anybody else do it like.
- 15:37Speaker 3: I'm not gonna snitch. I'm not a snitch like that.
- 15:40Speaker 1: And if it came down to it and I was
- 15:43Speaker 1: like starving and I didn't have the money to get
- 15:47Speaker 1: a four thousand dollars popcorn, then maybe.
- 15:52Speaker 3: I would sneak something in.
- 15:53Speaker 1: So it's good to know that I would not get arrested.
- 15:56Speaker 3: But you run the risk of getting kicked out, all.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Right, So is this illegal?
- 16:02Speaker 4: No?
- 16:02Speaker 2: Will the theater judge you for pulling a king sized
- 16:04Speaker 2: snicker bar out of your cargo shorts halfway through the movie? Absolutely?
- 16:08Speaker 2: And I'm not gonna I don't wanna out this person.
- 16:11Speaker 2: I don't want to blow up her spot. Okay, she
- 16:13Speaker 2: might have a go to movie. But a couple of
- 16:16Speaker 2: minutes ago when we said we are going to talk
- 16:18Speaker 2: about this, we instantly got this text that I found
- 16:20Speaker 2: absolutely hilarious. And this person said, I don't know about
- 16:24Speaker 2: the law, but I know that I go to Kse's
- 16:27Speaker 2: and get a sandwich and popcorn chicken and bring that
- 16:29Speaker 2: into the movie theater every time.
- 16:31Speaker 3: I respect it.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Having a go to sneak in snack food to me
- 16:37Speaker 2: is hilarious.
- 16:37Speaker 3: I think that should exempt you from getting in trouble.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Yeah, what is you gonna bring next to rotisserie chicken?
- 16:49Speaker 2: In theory we are, I would say, less than a
- 16:53Speaker 2: month out from baby g arriving to the FM area.
- 16:58Speaker 1: This is this, Solix, the last I got to see
- 17:02Speaker 1: your wife a happy Harry's rip best yep and shellas
- 17:05Speaker 1: baby bumpish.
- 17:06Speaker 2: She is bumping, that's for sure. And I think I've
- 17:09Speaker 2: been pretty open about all of the classes that I
- 17:12Speaker 2: needed to take ye in these last nine months because
- 17:15Speaker 2: when it comes to babies, I'll be honest with you.
- 17:18Speaker 2: I still don't but I don't know absolutely anything about babies.
- 17:22Speaker 2: I've not really been around a ton of them. I
- 17:24Speaker 2: have a ton of nephews and nieces who you know,
- 17:26Speaker 2: I've all known since they were four or five, six
- 17:29Speaker 2: years old. But baby baby, I don't know a ton.
- 17:32Speaker 2: So that's why I've taken a bunch of classes and
- 17:35Speaker 2: now I could not feel more prepared. I'm ready to
- 17:39Speaker 2: rock and roll. And there was one thing that was
- 17:40Speaker 2: brought up in this parenting class that I found very
- 17:43Speaker 2: interesting and I wanted to share here on Big ninety
- 17:46Speaker 2: eight point seven. And it is called the five to
- 17:49Speaker 2: one parenting rule. And it's pretty simple. Maybe you've heard
- 17:52Speaker 2: of something like this, but for every one correction or
- 17:55Speaker 2: criticism or negative interaction with your child, you want to
- 18:00Speaker 2: try to have five positive interactions, whether it's praise, encouragement,
- 18:04Speaker 2: hog's laughter, or quality time. Experts say this is something
- 18:08Speaker 2: that like builds trust in it boost self esteem, and
- 18:11Speaker 2: can actually lead to better behavior because kids feel more
- 18:14Speaker 2: connected and supported. This is kind of, you know, for
- 18:17Speaker 2: lack of a better term, it's kind of the same
- 18:18Speaker 2: thing as having a dog. If you've ever tried to
- 18:20Speaker 2: train a dog, positive reinforcement goes a long way.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Okay, this is very real I yesterday specifically, had.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Had to do. I give me one second. Yeah, how
- 18:33Speaker 2: do you strengthen the bond with your kids? Seven oh
- 18:36Speaker 2: one two eight zero one nine eight seven? What is
- 18:39Speaker 2: your kids kind of fun thing you look forward to
- 18:41Speaker 2: every week or every month or what do you do
- 18:43Speaker 2: as a parent with kids to strengthen that bond?
- 18:46Speaker 4: Sorry?
- 18:46Speaker 1: Sorry, yeah, honestly, no, we need you to chime in
- 18:49Speaker 1: because I'm about to tell you how I'm failing. Yesterday
- 18:53Speaker 1: I got into it with Liam about what I can't
- 18:57Speaker 1: even remember, I just know, and he's my nine year old,
- 19:00Speaker 1: but he just wasn't listening to what I told him
- 19:03Speaker 1: to do, and so I got like upset, frustrated. I
- 19:07Speaker 1: got frustrated. Sometimes my tone is a little harsher than
- 19:11Speaker 1: I would want it to be when I always apologize,
- 19:16Speaker 1: you know whatever. And whether at this point he accepts
- 19:18Speaker 1: it or not, I don't know. But I did think
- 19:22Speaker 1: to myself, like, ough, Angie, you need to now, like
- 19:25Speaker 1: you need to go and be way positive and way
- 19:29Speaker 1: nice and way whatever to try to like counteract right.
- 19:32Speaker 1: And so I went upstairs and then we hung out.
- 19:35Speaker 1: He showed me some of his new artwork that he
- 19:37Speaker 1: was doing, and you know, we connected on that, but
- 19:41Speaker 1: it really sometimes takes that concern. It doesn't come supernaturally
- 19:45Speaker 1: all the time. Yeah, this five to one thing, like,
- 19:47Speaker 1: sometimes you really have to think, like, Okay, I need
- 19:51Speaker 1: to make this concerted effort to blah blah blah blah blah,
- 19:54Speaker 1: and I wish that it were Sometimes it does come natural,
- 19:56Speaker 1: but when it doesn't, you have to be really aware
- 20:00Speaker 1: and make the choice to try and bond and connect
- 20:04Speaker 1: to counteract when you scold them.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Because kids are sensitive and they do take that to heart.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and you don't want them to think like, oh,
- 20:12Speaker 1: the only time my mom really talks to me is
- 20:14Speaker 1: when she's correcting me. Are yelling at me? Yeah, when
- 20:17Speaker 1: she's yelling at yeah, exactly. So oh man, this five
- 20:20Speaker 1: to one real thanks for bringing it up.
- 20:22Speaker 6: Game.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Well, we do have Vanessa on the phone. Vanessa, what's
- 20:25Speaker 2: something you do to strengthen your bond with your kiddos.
- 20:28Speaker 7: I started taking my daughter out for breakfast once a month,
- 20:31Speaker 7: just the two of us, with no siblings, no phone,
- 20:34Speaker 7: and she kills me more over pancakes than she does
- 20:37Speaker 7: the other twenty nine days of the month.
- 20:39Speaker 2: That's very cool.
- 20:40Speaker 1: That part is major when they have siblings, you it's
- 20:43Speaker 1: easy to want to do everything together, but yeah, you
- 20:46Speaker 1: got to take the time to just one on one
- 20:49Speaker 1: time without the siblings.
- 20:50Speaker 2: That's really good. Yeah, that's super cool. And you know,
- 20:52Speaker 2: if there's especially if she has like brothers too. I
- 20:55Speaker 2: don't know how many. Yeah, but just to have some
- 20:58Speaker 2: you know, girl time. Yeah, learning real early. It might
- 21:01Speaker 2: not be Margarita's yet, it's pancakes, but really learning what
- 21:04Speaker 2: brunch is like with the ladies. We also have Anthony
- 21:08Speaker 2: on the phone. Anthony, what do you do?
- 21:09Speaker 4: Man? My son and I have bonded over baseball. We
- 21:12Speaker 4: play it together and we even catch a game on
- 21:14Speaker 4: Pdvenever we both have nothing else going on. Man, it work.
- 21:18Speaker 2: That's very cute. We used to do that growing up
- 21:20Speaker 2: at the Glentenhouse. We watched so many Twins games and
- 21:23Speaker 2: Golden Gopher hockey games when they played on Fridays and Saturdays.
- 21:27Speaker 2: That's like what we geared up for on the weekends.
- 21:29Speaker 2: When I was six, seven, eight, nine years old. Was like, sweet, hey,
- 21:32Speaker 2: the Gophers they're playing Denver this weekend. It's the number
- 21:34Speaker 2: one team in the country versus the number two team.
- 21:36Speaker 2: I remember doing that growing up in.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Terms of bonding over sports. When you have baby girl,
- 21:41Speaker 1: what sport is it that you would want above all?
- 21:45Speaker 3: What sport is it that you want to connect with her?
- 21:47Speaker 2: Did you Did you lead me into this question because
- 21:49Speaker 2: you know the answer. No.
- 21:52Speaker 6: Go.
- 21:52Speaker 2: I have expressed I am bringing a putter the golf club,
- 21:57Speaker 2: a putter to the hospital, and I tell this to
- 22:00Speaker 2: people and they're.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Okay, no, but I have heard you say this, But
- 22:03Speaker 1: I thought, like, that's just like a stick, like a
- 22:05Speaker 1: big No, that's the one that you want.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Okay, We're gonna bond over golf because that's the only
- 22:10Speaker 2: thing I'll be able to play when I'm old and decrepit.
- 22:20Speaker 2: What comes with sunshine, warm weather, the lake, the cabin, camping,
- 22:25Speaker 2: the golf course, the beach. Well, of course, mosquitoes.
- 22:29Speaker 1: I hate this and I haven't mentioned them in my home,
- 22:33Speaker 1: Like I haven't said anything about them because I didn't
- 22:36Speaker 1: want to jinx it. I feel like I haven't had
- 22:39Speaker 1: to deal with and I don't want to say it.
- 22:42Speaker 2: It's one of those deals where you know when you're
- 22:44Speaker 2: a kid, if you close your eyes and you're like, oh,
- 22:46Speaker 2: if I can't see them, they can't see me.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Yes, that's how I feel. If I don't say anything
- 22:50Speaker 3: about them, we're safe.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Well, I found some interesting facts here about mosquitoes, and
- 22:54Speaker 2: let me tell you this first fun fact of the
- 22:57Speaker 2: day for you. I did not know this, but god
- 23:00Speaker 2: does it make a ton of sense. Ladies, what only
- 23:06Speaker 2: female mosquitos bite? Did you know that the male The
- 23:10Speaker 2: males are harmless and spend their time drinking nectar from flowers.
- 23:15Speaker 2: It's the lady mosquitos you gotta watch out for.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Well, what it's about time we saw women in men's fields.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Okay, that's right.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Mosquitos. They're actually attracted to certain people more than others.
- 23:30Speaker 2: If you, you know, enjoy camping or the cabin or
- 23:33Speaker 2: whatever with your family, and for some reason you think,
- 23:35Speaker 2: why do the mosquitos like me more? Great news or
- 23:39Speaker 2: terrible news? They are attracted to people more than others.
- 23:43Speaker 2: It's your body heat, sweat, even your breath can make
- 23:46Speaker 2: you a mosquito magnet.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, I'm such a mosquito magnet. I remember
- 23:50Speaker 1: the first time I ever went to Miami, and I
- 23:53Speaker 1: mean walking from the airport terminal door whatever, walking to
- 23:59Speaker 1: the taxi, and I was bit up everywhere by mosquitos and.
- 24:03Speaker 3: It's just because they think I'm hot. They're attracted to me.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll let you have that. Are you gonna put
- 24:09Speaker 2: that one in your hinge bio?
- 24:11Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 24:11Speaker 1: If we're s cust to wars, if Mikey leaves me
- 24:13Speaker 1: and be like so sweet, the mosquitoes love me.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Yeah, mosquitoes think I'm hot. A mosquito can smell you
- 24:20Speaker 2: up to one hundred feet away, which is pretty impressive
- 24:24Speaker 2: for something that flies, and it's like the size of
- 24:27Speaker 2: a sesame seed. I have two more for you here, Angie.
- 24:29Speaker 2: There are more than three thousand and five hundred species
- 24:33Speaker 2: of mosquito worldwide, but only a small number regularly bite humans.
- 24:41Speaker 4: You know what.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Shout out to the other species who don't, You're very
- 24:45Speaker 1: kind and I love you.
- 24:46Speaker 3: And the ones who do, why you haters? I don't
- 24:49Speaker 3: like it.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it is kind of crazy though. There's only a
- 24:52Speaker 2: couple that bite or you know, try to try toss and.
- 24:56Speaker 3: They all reside in the fm are Yeah.
- 25:00Speaker 2: One of them, that's right. And then finally, mosquitoes are
- 25:04Speaker 2: terrible flyers. They usually travel only at about one to
- 25:08Speaker 2: one and a half miles per hour, which makes your
- 25:12Speaker 2: Grandpa's riding lawnmower technically faster than mosquitoes.
- 25:16Speaker 3: That's funny. You know, I have a fact for you.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Give it to me that I saw on the internet,
- 25:21Speaker 1: and I don't know if it's true or not, but
- 25:24Speaker 1: you know, until I.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Am told something else that's true.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Else, but that when a mosquito goes to bite you,
- 25:32Speaker 1: they pee on you at the same time to make
- 25:35Speaker 1: room to ingest more blood. And that's just a level
- 25:39Speaker 1: of disrespect that you almost have to respect.
- 25:43Speaker 2: I could have gone the rest of my life and
- 25:44Speaker 2: not learn that fact. But you know what, you know
- 25:47Speaker 2: what with all of the information you have just learned
- 25:50Speaker 2: this morning here on Big ninety eight point seven, Happy Summer.
- 26:02Speaker 1: It is the fortieth anniversary of Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
- 26:08Speaker 1: And what's wild about this my man Nike, he is
- 26:12Speaker 1: like Ferris Bueller's age, Like he was the same age
- 26:16Speaker 1: I think that Matthew Roderick was when he played Ferris Bueller.
- 26:19Speaker 1: But it's such an iconic film that even if you
- 26:22Speaker 1: were a millennial, by the time you like watched it,
- 26:26Speaker 1: it had already been you know, decades. But it just
- 26:30Speaker 1: is so good. And I was devastated to find out
- 26:35Speaker 1: that Gabe does not like Farris Bueller's Day Off. Why
- 26:39Speaker 1: don't you like it?
- 26:40Speaker 2: I don't know. It's been a long time since I've
- 26:43Speaker 2: seen that movie, but for some reason I remember watching
- 26:46Speaker 2: it and just going, yeah, this is fine. I don't
- 26:49Speaker 2: get it though. People talk like this the greatest movie
- 26:51Speaker 2: ever made, and I never understood that, And.
- 26:53Speaker 1: What like, did you not like Ferris like he's cool?
- 26:57Speaker 2: Yeah? I don't know if it's I just didn't like Farris,
- 27:00Speaker 2: found him to be I don't know, just kind of annoying.
- 27:04Speaker 2: I'm not sure you of all.
- 27:06Speaker 1: People, finding Ferris Buehler kind of annoying is crazy to
- 27:10Speaker 1: me because I think Ferris Buehler is you.
- 27:14Speaker 3: You are he he's you.
- 27:18Speaker 1: I think like you could be Gabriel Buehler, Ferris Glitton,
- 27:23Speaker 1: like you are exactly like Ferris Buehler.
- 27:26Speaker 2: I can't I can't wait to find out how you
- 27:28Speaker 2: should love it.
- 27:29Speaker 1: So obviously I went to chat GPT okay, because I
- 27:33Speaker 1: just felt like that would be easier to summarize the
- 27:36Speaker 1: characteristics of Ferris Bueller, which clearly when I say it
- 27:40Speaker 1: could be that I'm describing you. So the thing with
- 27:42Speaker 1: Ferris Bueller is that he's charismatic, people naturally like him,
- 27:47Speaker 1: and I feel like that's such a gab thing people
- 27:49Speaker 1: naturally like you, when I'm also annoyed that I'm about
- 27:53Speaker 1: to be really just glazing you.
- 27:55Speaker 2: All the compliments might get my wife to how do
- 27:58Speaker 2: I get my wife to think I'm carus?
- 28:00Speaker 3: Well, here's the thing that.
- 28:01Speaker 1: He's also very confident, sometimes unbelievably confident.
- 28:05Speaker 3: And if that's not Gabe Glidden, I don't know what is.
- 28:09Speaker 1: He's fun loving and he's all about like adventure. He
- 28:13Speaker 1: doesn't He's not trying to follow a schedule. He's just
- 28:15Speaker 1: trying to do like what is fun?
- 28:17Speaker 3: That's you to a t. He's persuasive.
- 28:20Speaker 1: He can talk almost anyone into going along with his plans.
- 28:26Speaker 3: Gabriel Joseph, is that your middle name? Glidin?
- 28:30Speaker 1: Like AFFI, this is you? You anything you could get
- 28:34Speaker 1: me to do anything? My guy like you are persuasive
- 28:37Speaker 1: af he's a bit of a prankster.
- 28:39Speaker 3: All you ever do is prank meet Gabe Wow.
- 28:43Speaker 1: And then this quite literally, this is something you say
- 28:47Speaker 1: about yourself on the daily.
- 28:50Speaker 3: Things somehow just always work out for him.
- 28:53Speaker 1: In fact, that's like the premice of the movie is
- 28:56Speaker 1: that he ditches school so that he can go and
- 28:59Speaker 1: have a fun day, and everyone's trying to make sure
- 29:01Speaker 1: that he gets caught, but everything just always works out
- 29:05Speaker 1: for him and he doesn't. And you always say, Gabe,
- 29:07Speaker 1: always say.
- 29:08Speaker 3: You know what your bully. Things just always work out.
- 29:10Speaker 2: For your bully. I do say that a lot.
- 29:13Speaker 1: You are Ferris Buehler, So if anything, A you need
- 29:17Speaker 1: to watch it again, and B maybe you don't like
- 29:21Speaker 1: him because you are too alike and that happens, but
- 29:24Speaker 1: like that's your in fact for Halloween, sir. If you're
- 29:27Speaker 1: not Ferris Bueller, I don't know what you're thinking.
- 29:29Speaker 2: It's like that age old question. If you weren't you,
- 29:32Speaker 2: would you like hanging out with you? Clearly my answer
- 29:34Speaker 2: is no. I will say, though, maybe I don't remember
- 29:38Speaker 2: the movie that well, okay, but can I say this,
- 29:41Speaker 2: if I'm not mistaken, don't his actions lead to other
- 29:45Speaker 2: people getting in trouble or facing some kind of consequences?
- 29:49Speaker 2: Not really, they don't get in trouble. And maybe I
- 29:51Speaker 2: don't remember this part then because I from what I
- 29:54Speaker 2: thought I remembered, like the other people kind of sort
- 29:56Speaker 2: of got in trouble or got caught or something.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Right, It is no it's that his actions made other
- 30:03Speaker 1: people face adverse city and that's your favorite thing on
- 30:08Speaker 1: the planet.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Eielight, Farris Bueller's the greatest character I've ever heard. I
- 30:14Speaker 2: need some good.
- 30:17Speaker 5: Starting off the day with something good. This is Gabe's
- 30:21Speaker 5: good news on Big ninety eight point seven.
- 30:26Speaker 2: A local event is turning fun and community spirit into
- 30:29Speaker 2: something much bigger. Coming up on Saturday, June twenty seventh,
- 30:32Speaker 2: Fargo Billiards and Gastro Pub will host Play for a Purpose,
- 30:37Speaker 2: which is a fundraiser benefiting Brave the Shave for Kids
- 30:40Speaker 2: with cancer and the day. Yeah, the day is packed
- 30:44Speaker 2: with activities including a Superhero five k run walk, a
- 30:48Speaker 2: co ed six on six sand volleyball tournament, cornhole darts,
- 30:51Speaker 2: a silent auction, a fifty to fifty raffle, great food,
- 30:54Speaker 2: and plenty of chances to support a really important cause.
- 30:57Speaker 2: And what makes this event special is that every step,
- 31:00Speaker 2: every toss, every volleyball serve it helps family families facing
- 31:05Speaker 2: one of life's toughest challenges, and that's childhood cancer. This
- 31:08Speaker 2: is a reminder that when a community comes together, even
- 31:11Speaker 2: a fun day of games and competition can make a
- 31:14Speaker 2: real difference. So whether you're running, playing bidding, or you know,
- 31:18Speaker 2: you're simply showing up to just cheer people on Once
- 31:21Speaker 2: Again June twenty sevenths event is proof that helping others
- 31:25Speaker 2: can be very beneficial and a lot of fun at
- 31:27Speaker 2: the same time.
- 31:28Speaker 3: What is this Brave the Shave part? Are people shaving
- 31:30Speaker 3: their head?
- 31:31Speaker 2: I think that's just tied in with it as well.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Yeah, because if that's a thing, that would be the
- 31:35Speaker 1: caveat that I would let you, Like, we're doing this
- 31:38Speaker 1: bet where you have to grow out your hair. If
- 31:40Speaker 1: you were gonna shave your hair for a good cause,
- 31:43Speaker 1: I would be.
- 31:43Speaker 2: Down for that, all right. Once again, Brave the Shave
- 31:47Speaker 2: for Kids with Cancer, Saturday, June twenty seventh, Fargo, Billiards
- 31:51Speaker 2: and Gastro pub If you need any more information with that,
- 31:55Speaker 2: And you know my favorite quote if you don't here,
- 31:57Speaker 2: it is broken crans. They still color and the world
- 31:59Speaker 2: is of nice people. If you can't find one, you
- 32:01Speaker 2: gotta be one.
