- 0:00And I like playing with guys that think the game well.
- 0:02And you know, I'm not personally a guy that likes to try like the
- 0:06one-on-one stuff and stuff like that.
- 0:08So I'm definitely really happy to play with two guys that know
- 0:12how to play the game the right way.
- 0:14I mean, Holla is so responsible both ways of the ice and
- 0:17definitely create a lot of speed up the middle.
- 0:21He's he's a pass first mentality, which is fun for a
- 0:23guy that likes to shoot and talk like me.
- 0:26And I mean, Michael, I think it's, it's, it's, it's his heart
- 0:31and his dedication to go to the net, doing all the little
- 0:33things, you know, the forecheck and stuff like that.
- 0:35That's sometimes not everybody is always willing to do in the
- 0:40world of hockey. But for him, he knows what makes
- 0:43him successful and he's going to keep doing those things.
- 0:46And that definitely creates room for a guy like me.
- 0:48So it's it's been good. You know, we've been, we've been
- 0:52playing the right away when we play together and it's, it's
- 0:56we've been most likely out of our out of our D zone.
- 1:00So I mean, if, if that's good, normally the offense can, if you
- 1:04take good care of your defence to the side, the, the, the
- 1:07offense can come a little easier.
- 1:17Welcome to the Predators official podcast here on the
- 1:20Prez Radio Network, ESPN 102.5, the game and on YouTube.
- 1:24If you're seeing our smiling faces, it's a pleasure to be
- 1:27back with you once again for episode 3 of the new season of
- 1:30The POP. I'm Brooks Bratton of Nashville,
- 1:33predators.com. Pleased to be joined once again
- 1:36by my Co host Max Herz of Predators Radio.
- 1:39I'm Kara Hammer from Prez TV friends, plenty to get to in
- 1:44this episode. We just had a great conversation
- 1:46with Jonathan Marsha, so can't wait to bring you that a little
- 1:49bit later here in the program. Of course, training camp
- 1:52continues. One more preseason game to go as
- 1:55we record this on Thursday afternoon, October 2nd.
- 1:59And of course, we will get to the Big E Awesome person of the
- 2:02week. Also, new food items and
- 2:04renovations at Bridgestone. Lots of exciting things but
- 2:07there's nothing more exciting then a new baby and sound the
- 2:10baby alarm. Max, you and I have just learned
- 2:13a predators practice. We have a new member of the
- 2:15Preds family. And I am sitting right now in
- 2:19the birthday room at Centennial Sportsplex as we record this
- 2:24episode. So it's the perfect place to let
- 2:27the world know that 2 Preds have welcomed babies into the world
- 2:31this week. First up, Michael Bunting at the
- 2:32end of last week before he went and played in the preseason game
- 2:36on Saturday. And we just found out, Brooks,
- 2:39today on Thursday, as you said, as we record this October 2nd,
- 2:43that Michael Mccarron's second child, both born basically
- 2:47within the last year, a little bit more than a year.
- 2:50His second child and first son, Jetson McCarron was born on
- 2:56Wednesday night and he was right back at practice about 15 hours
- 3:00later because he said there was number chance he was staying
- 3:03cooped up in the hospital. He needed to be back with the
- 3:04boys. So great hockey guy, great
- 3:08hockey name, Jetson Mccarran. Kara, come on.
- 3:12I know. And let's just clarify, you're
- 3:14not in the birthing room, you're in the birthday room.
- 3:16So this. Is where birthday room?
- 3:18I'm not. In the ward of the.
- 3:19Practice facility, yeah. I love this.
- 3:21Can we? I feel like we're already just
- 3:22gonna have to start calling him Jet McCarron.
- 3:24Like he's just jets around out there.
- 3:26Just add add them to the list. Exciting news in Smashville and
- 3:30guys, one thing that has stuck out to me we're one week away
- 3:34from the season opener here in Smashville.
- 3:37But Bruno has said it more than once effort.
- 3:41He likes the effort he's seen. How positive is that, Brooks?
- 3:45One week out and the guys are ready to go.
- 3:49You can feel it, Kara, like it's a it's a different feel at camp
- 3:52and they had really good pace today again on Thursday.
- 3:55And we've talked about it before.
- 3:57Of course there's reason for optimism right now.
- 3:59But yeah, it just feels different.
- 4:01Guys are more settled in. It's a good group and they've
- 4:04really liked a lot of what they've seen even in the
- 4:06preseason games recently. The Predators haven't won the
- 4:09recent preseason games, but again, it's it's an exhibition
- 4:13contest. You don't have all your NHL
- 4:15players, you don't have your full lineup in there.
- 4:17Those games, yeah, you want to win, but those games are more
- 4:20about what are our systems looking like?
- 4:22How are the processes going? How are we evaluating different
- 4:25guys? There's been a lot to like in
- 4:27that regard. And for the Predators, it's just
- 4:30a matter now of you've got one preseason game left as we record
- 4:34this, we're a week away from opening night, which is crazy.
- 4:36And the roster is down to 28 players.
- 4:39That includes the waiver claim of forward Tyson Jost on
- 4:42Wednesday and the assignment of Reed Schaefer to Milwaukee and
- 4:47some big cuts. They first came on Monday and
- 4:49Tuesday of this week, so we expected that after the
- 4:52back-to-back preseason games on Saturday and Sunday in Tampa and
- 4:57Carolina. But a big cut on Monday.
- 5:00Some more guys go down on Tuesday, the ones that had to
- 5:03clear waivers, so those were Jake Lucini, NAV Mutter, Kevin
- 5:07Gravel, Jordan Osterley and goaltender Matt Murray.
- 5:10So a lot of guys back down in Milwaukee as they continue their
- 5:13training camp, but Max and Kara, a lot of the names that we've
- 5:17talked about, the young guys who are pushing for those roster
- 5:20spots, Brady Martin, Matthew Wood, Yoa Kim Kemel, Tanner
- 5:24Mullen, Dyke, If you even want to throw guys like Ozzy
- 5:26Wiseblatt, Zach LaRue into the mix, They're all still here.
- 5:30And that's a really good sign not only for the future of this
- 5:33organization, but the present right now, the fact that all
- 5:36those guys are really pushing for spots.
- 5:39Max, we know that Matthew Wood is out right now week to week.
- 5:43And I feel like with that news, it seems more and more like we
- 5:47may be seeing Brady Martin and these guys come Thursday night,
- 5:51especially no Luke, Luke Evangelista.
- 5:54We, we are still kind of out at a deadlock on the contract
- 5:58situation. So some of these guys that maybe
- 6:01over the summer you weren't really expecting them to be
- 6:03here. They're still around.
- 6:05Yeah, and they're getting every opportunity to prove it.
- 6:08Joachim Kimmel has been on the second line with Steven Stamkos
- 6:12and Feder Svechkov. That line's been together the
- 6:14last two days of practice since they've gotten down to the NHL
- 6:17group and the last guys fighting for spots alongside them.
- 6:21And Brady Martin's been on the top line.
- 6:22He's been playing center, and Ryan O'reilly's been playing
- 6:25some wing with Philip Forsberg. So there's a chance that Brady
- 6:29Martin sticks around at 18 1/2 years old to make his NHL debut
- 6:33as the 5th overall pick this year.
- 6:35And it seems like we've got a battle on the fourth line, too.
- 6:38Ozzie Weisblatt versus Zach LaRue to try and get that last
- 6:41spot on the wing of the fourth line with Michael McCarron and
- 6:44Cole Smith. And at Thursday's practice, for
- 6:46the first time, Weisblatt got the first Rep on the fourth line
- 6:50ahead of LaRue. And LaRue can go back to
- 6:52Milwaukee without waivers. Weisblatt would cry our waivers.
- 6:56All of that goes into decision. And I'll leave it at this for
- 6:59the forwards. There's a chance that Matt Wood
- 7:02is back and healthy by opening night, and if he is, he's done
- 7:06enough to make this team as everybody's seen.
- 7:09Well, that's exactly what. Bruno said Right.
- 7:12Sorry, Brooks, that that the guys that are here, they deserve
- 7:15to be here and you've seen that first hand. 100% yeah, We asked
- 7:19Andrew Brunette on Wednesday, those guys pushing for spots,
- 7:23how impressed have you been? He said.
- 7:24They've all had really good camps, they've shown really well
- 7:27and it's fun to watch. They're hungry to get better and
- 7:30they deserve the right to be here right now.
- 7:32They all have a really good chance of making the hockey
- 7:34team, and it's a good problem to have.
- 7:36I think as a coaching staff and a management staff, you want to
- 7:39have tough decisions in training camp.
- 7:41It's not as if the Predators had 10 roster spots open.
- 7:44We knew a number of the guys who were going to be on the opening
- 7:47night roster. There's no reason to believe
- 7:49that they won't be. But yeah, those young players
- 7:53who you hoped would be pushing for spots, they're doing that.
- 7:57And you want those tough decisions.
- 7:58You don't want everything solidified on day one.
- 8:01You want guys to make you. Question is, you know, X player
- 8:05ready to go, Is Y player ready? Do we need to move some things
- 8:08around, bump some guys down? Those are really good problems
- 8:11to have. And Max, you mentioned Brady
- 8:13Martin playing with Ryan O'Reilly and Philip Forsberg, if
- 8:17I may, a shameless plug for my story on preds.com about kind of
- 8:21that element of the young guy and Martin playing with a couple
- 8:25of veterans and O'Reilly and Forsberg.
- 8:27I love what Ryan O'Reilly said on Wednesday.
- 8:30He said it's hilarious when you look across the room and see
- 8:33guys that are half your age. It does make you feel old.
- 8:36Ryan O'Reilly said, but but he said, I, I love it.
- 8:40It takes him back to his first training camp.
- 8:41He said, like every day when you're that young, it feels like
- 8:44Christmas. You're walking into the room and
- 8:46you kind of can't believe you're there.
- 8:47And Brady Martin said that as much.
- 8:49And I and I love the quote from O'Reilly on Brady O Martin.
- 8:53Brady O Martin, There's a new name for me.
- 8:56If we get if we get. Yeah, if that's the line that
- 8:59sticks together. Brady O Martin, there you go.
- 9:01But I love what O'Reilly said. I'm going to quote him here.
- 9:04He said it's cool to see these guys and especially guys like
- 9:08Brady just kind of being here and being around it.
- 9:10I don't think I've seen him not smile the entire time he's been
- 9:14here. It's very infectious, and it's
- 9:16fun to be around. That makes a big difference.
- 9:20Yeah, you're talking about the offensive players right now, but
- 9:24can we go to our very own defensive Ted Lasso, Nick
- 9:27Blinkenberg, Brooks, he gave you a quote saying that every day he
- 9:32is grateful that he gets to play in the NHL, be at a training
- 9:36camp. But my favorite line of this
- 9:39week had to say just do your best, forget the rest.
- 9:43And that's kind of trickling through Max.
- 9:46And it's not just on the blue line with Nick Blinkenberg.
- 9:48It's it's all the guys. Yeah, I think everybody's had
- 9:52like a real simple mentality in that regard in this training
- 9:56camp. I don't think anything's been
- 9:58overthought. I've when they've had their low
- 10:01moments or when the team hasn't had it.
- 10:03Andrew Brunette has stopped the drill, called him out and it's
- 10:07gotten better. So there's coaching going on,
- 10:09there's coaching being taken. They're installing new parts of
- 10:12the system. They were working on defensive
- 10:14zone coverage today. And Brooks, we saw it like the
- 10:17defense was winning, like things are happening here.
- 10:21There are changes being made. I don't think there's much that
- 10:24the Preds want to keep from last year into this year.
- 10:27And we're seeing it day by day now that we're just down to the
- 10:30NHL group. Well, and you know, we can't
- 10:33discount the addition of Luke Richardson, a new assistant
- 10:36coach for the Predators, formerly the head coach in
- 10:38Chicago. The guys only got 1400 games of
- 10:41NHL experience. It's not as if he can't teach
- 10:44these guys a few things. So I think having him has really
- 10:47added a different element. And like we've talked about,
- 10:50it's just kind of that fresh renewal.
- 10:52I think we all experience it, whether you know, you're
- 10:55starting a new year of school, you're coming back from vacation
- 10:58or after a holiday, right? You get that sense of renewal,
- 11:01that fresh sense of like, all right, we're back, let's go,
- 11:04let's get to work. That's really been prevalent
- 11:06here for the Predators and Max, you've mentioned a lot about
- 11:10what we've seen on the forward lines and on the defensive
- 11:13pairs. Romaniosi, he was paired with
- 11:15Nick Hague. Of course, Hague unfortunately
- 11:18injured right now with an upper body body injury, but Adam
- 11:20Willsby has slid up there quite nicely.
- 11:23Brady Shea and Nick Kerbix have been together since day one of
- 11:26camp and then Justin Baron has seen some different guys with
- 11:30Spencer Stassney was there on Thursday, Tanner Mullen, Dyke
- 11:34and Nick Blankenberg there as well on the back end.
- 11:37So again, some tough decisions that are going to come up in
- 11:40these next few days for the predators.
- 11:42I think anybody who is here in camp right now could play on
- 11:46opening night. I don't think there's a single
- 11:48person here right now who you look at them and say they're
- 11:50probably not quite ready. Maybe some more so than others,
- 11:53especially some of the younger guys.
- 11:55You know, you're not going to throw somebody into a situation
- 11:58if they're not ready to handle it.
- 12:00But there's a lot of guys that are ready for opening night and
- 12:03could find themselves on this opening night roster.
- 12:07I know Bruno talked a lot about adding size to that blue line.
- 12:11It was one of the topics over the summer.
- 12:14But you know, putting Andreas Angkland on waivers, it seems
- 12:16like they're they're going a little bit in a different
- 12:18direction. But I think that's credited to
- 12:20how well Mullen Dyke is playing or Spencer Sassy's.
- 12:24These guys are really starting to prove themselves.
- 12:27Yeah, the what would be the third pair, I believe if the
- 12:31Preds had a regular season game tonight has been Justin Baron
- 12:35and Spencer Stasney. And that's where Anglin likely
- 12:38would have been. Once the Preds got Nick Hague,
- 12:41maybe they thought we wouldn't have Andreas Anglin on the
- 12:44opening night roster, but then Nick Hague got hurt and
- 12:47completely to your point, Cara, which is a great point.
- 12:50They still have sent Anglin to waivers and hopefully through to
- 12:53Milwaukee. So it's Stasney, it's Baron,
- 12:57it's Wilsby taking that top spot on the top pair and consistently
- 13:02looking like the most athletic guy on the ice at Fred's
- 13:05training camp throughout the preseason that is pushing them
- 13:08in that direction on the back end.
- 13:10And I think every pair has shown great promise in both preseason
- 13:14games and in practices. 100% And also I think it's worth
- 13:19mentioning the waiver wire pickup of Tyson Jost, a first
- 13:23round pick. But back in his day, he's an NHL
- 13:26veteran. He's been around, he knows what
- 13:28to expect. He was having a good training
- 13:30camp with the Carolina Hurricanes.
- 13:32The Preds just saw him the other night in Carolina and now he is
- 13:36here in Nashville. But he's a guy that can play
- 13:39every forward position. That was something Andrew
- 13:41Brunette mentioned on Thursday when we talked to him.
- 13:44And they like that versatility. You, you, you just never know.
- 13:48You mentioned Nick Hegg getting hurt.
- 13:50Injuries are a part of the game. You you hope that nothing
- 13:52happens, but it never hurts to have another player who is
- 13:56capable of stepping into any role that you might need them
- 14:00in. And I think too, we've seen this
- 14:02in the past with young players. And I think it's especially
- 14:05important to remember here when you've got a number of young
- 14:07guys trying to make the roster, when you've got those tough
- 14:11decisions, it's better to have a top prospect playing top minutes
- 14:17in Milwaukee and essentially playing a star role as opposed
- 14:22to having them on the fourth line.
- 14:23So if it does come down to something like that, that's why
- 14:26you get a player like Tyson Jost, because you'd rather have
- 14:30somebody who's been around the league who knows what to expect,
- 14:33can fill any role. You'd rather have them be able
- 14:35to slot in on 1/3 line on a fourth line as opposed to a
- 14:39young prospect who would be better off continuing to develop
- 14:42in Milwaukee. So we don't know what the
- 14:44opening night roster is going to be, but if you're looking for a
- 14:47reason as to why Tyson Jost arrives on the scene in
- 14:50Nashville, I think that's a perfect example of where he
- 14:53could play a role here if he does end up making the opening
- 14:56night roster. We saw Tyson Jost on the ice
- 15:00today wearing #17 but Brooks, you just touched on it, having
- 15:05these veterans and, and working with some of these younger guys
- 15:08and it, this is going to stand out to Philip Forsberg because
- 15:11Bruno made a comment that he has the patience for these young
- 15:15guys. How have you seen the veterans
- 15:18really take on this responsibility?
- 15:20Talked about factor? And you know how much he's
- 15:23enjoying seeing the smiles in the locker room.
- 15:25But I feel like it, it's really kind of been a collective effort
- 15:28and the and the veterans have taken on a bigger role.
- 15:32Well, time flies, right? Like, I mean, it wasn't all that
- 15:35long ago that Philip Forsberg was the guy who was being
- 15:38mentored here in Nashville. And now he's stepped into that
- 15:40role. We've talked about how Brady
- 15:42Martin lived with him for a few days earlier in the summer when
- 15:45when Brady was here getting settled into Nashville and guys
- 15:49like Philip Forsberg, Ryan O'Reilly, Steven Stamkos,
- 15:51Jonathan Marsha. So when you're at this point in
- 15:53your career, you're relied upon to do that same thing on the
- 15:56back end. Guys like Roman Yossi, Brady
- 15:59Shea with Adam Willsby, Tanner Mullendyke, those guys need
- 16:03mentors. And it's been so cool to see
- 16:06that dynamic of guys that again, Ryan O'Reilly laughs and says it
- 16:10makes him feel old. But I think they love having
- 16:13that role and the young guys, the excitement to be here every
- 16:16day, the energy, the passion, it really elevates everybody in the
- 16:21room. So I think everybody has really
- 16:22benefited from the collection of guys that have been in this
- 16:26locker room throughout training camp.
- 16:28And Max, we continue to see that first hand as camp goes along
- 16:31here. These guys that are just happy
- 16:33to be here and soaking it all in.
- 16:36And guys like O'Reilly and Forsberg have plenty to give,
- 16:39and they're more than willing to do it for guys like Martin to be
- 16:42a sponge. Yeah, it goes both ways.
- 16:45And the young guys bring the veterans up.
- 16:47And look, there were times in the locker room last year when
- 16:50media goes in there in the morning and it's the end of the
- 16:52season and there's nothing on the line the way that Pred
- 16:56season went. And there was not a lot of oh,
- 17:00let's go get it. And there's a lot of, oh, let's
- 17:02go get it in the Pretz locker room.
- 17:04And a lot of it specifically comes from Brady Martin.
- 17:07So it's been fun to breathe in. And we hope to see you in
- 17:11Smashville this Saturday, October 4th, when some of you
- 17:15listen to this. That will be tomorrow.
- 17:17If you're listening on Friday, it's the final preseason game at
- 17:203:00 against the Hurricanes in Smashville.
- 17:23But before that, it is Predsfest, presented by
- 17:25Ticketmaster from 11 to two across the street from the arena
- 17:29at Walk of Fame Park at the corner of 5th and Demumbria near
- 17:32the Country Music Hall of Fame. The event is free.

- 18:01Smashville. So you get to get an autograph
- 18:03from Ryan Ellis, get an autograph from the ginger.
- 18:05Brooks rubs his beard. You can also get Brooks's
- 18:07autograph and there will be no line for that one.
- 18:10That one. If you're a member of Nashes
- 18:14Kids Club, you can get a picture with Nash from 1:00 to 1:30
- 18:17towards the end of the day. And there is also a hot chicken
- 18:21eating contest, so come hungry and bring a large vase of milk
- 18:27if you plan on participating in that.
- 18:29Oh, so fancy. Yeah.
- 18:33A vase of milk. That'll be a lot of fun.
- 18:35You know what else is a lot of fun?
- 18:36Talking to Jonathan Marshistow. We'll do that next here on the
- 18:40Preds Official Podcast on ESPN1O25, The Game and the

- 21:27Welcome back to the Predators official podcast, the star of
- 21:31Pred social media. This week, second year Pred,
- 21:33Jonathan Marshasow is with us. John, thanks so much for joining
- 21:37us. Thanks for having me.
- 21:40First question the one everyone wants to know what celebrity
- 21:44would you get Starbuck over? Well, that was a tough one.
- 21:49That's that was a problem of me at school.
- 21:52I wouldn't read the questions properly, so I never answered a
- 21:55proper answer. So I tend to talk a little too
- 22:00fast sometimes. And we love you for it, don't
- 22:03worry. You know, John, coming in, I
- 22:05feel like this summer you just seem a little bit more relaxed.
- 22:08So you talked so much at the end of last season about how
- 22:11difficult the summer was going into it, You know, just the
- 22:14trials and tribulations of the move and the new season.
- 22:17How has this summer really been different for you?
- 22:19Yeah. Really smooth transition, like
- 22:24just coming home, you know, we have our house, everything's in
- 22:27order, everything's great. We know the schools that the
- 22:30kids are going to go their, their activities and their
- 22:34sports where they're going to go.
- 22:35So it was honestly really smooth and definitely a little bit more
- 22:39relaxed and sleeping a little better at night.
- 22:42So I mean everything is is definitely in order right now.
- 22:47Did you get a little bit more downtime?
- 22:49Any vacations? Yeah, actually I travel a little
- 22:53bit this summer, so that was really nice.
- 22:54But that's that's that's the the positive things of having a
- 22:59longer summer is you can start working out earlier and you can
- 23:03also take like take some vacation in the middle of the
- 23:06summer compared to like when you have shorter summers, sometimes
- 23:09you don't take time for yourself and you just get right back,
- 23:12right back into it. So this year definitely take
- 23:14time for me and my wife and my family as well to travel and it
- 23:19was definitely a fun summer and a little bit more relaxed
- 23:23summer. John, you touched on it, but
- 23:26compared to this time last year, how much more settled off the
- 23:29ice, on the ice do you feel? And how much of a difference has
- 23:33that made here as camp has gone along?
- 23:35Just knowing the surroundings, knowing how to get to the rink,
- 23:37all of that. Yeah, it's, it's, it's huge.
- 23:41And not just that, like knowing your coaches, knowing your, the
- 23:44organization, the staff, the knowing the players, how they
- 23:47play and how everybody is like when you come into a new
- 23:50organization, everything's so new.
- 23:52You don't know nothing. So it's definitely better to
- 23:55come in in a second year and knowing everything.
- 23:57And now I'm definitely really lucky to to come in that
- 24:02situation this year. And it's been definitely a
- 24:05better transition for for me. But like no one tells you this
- 24:10when you change organization, if you you just some people takes a
- 24:14certain amount of time. Everybody's different.
- 24:16And I guess last year, I think everybody did a great job to
- 24:20make you feel welcome and part of the family.
- 24:22But obviously the result was not there for our organization.
- 24:26And but this year is, which is great in hockey's, there's
- 24:30always team that struggled the year before and they come back
- 24:34and they just have a better groove and they just do better.
- 24:36And as some teams, you know, sometimes they have high
- 24:39expectation and they become disappointed in the year.
- 24:42So every year it changes. And for us this year, I think
- 24:45it's 2 Subs to super well, we're, we just have a, a
- 24:49different mentality of like, we want to be good and surprise the
- 24:53surprise the NHL. And I think that's going to be
- 24:55our mindset this year. Predator's winger Jonathan
- 24:59Marsha, so is our guest here on the Predators Official Podcast.
- 25:02John, last year as you were starting that transition on the
- 25:05ice, you also had to leave the team for a bit after your mom's
- 25:09dadly passed away and you've been open that that was a tough
- 25:12start to the season, tough start to your time with the Preds.
- 25:15How are you remembering her along with your family a year
- 25:17later now? And what was that like
- 25:19personally during what was already a time of tough
- 25:22transition for you in a lot of ways?
- 25:25Yeah, it was. It was really tough to be
- 25:27honest, because it was wait a minute, like obviously you're
- 25:30never ready to to to lose somebody close like that.
- 25:35But I mean, you just you just adapt and you try to to do your
- 25:40best. And I didn't like the fact that
- 25:41it was like you never can control that honestly.
- 25:44But it was the male of camp. So like what I'm supposed to
- 25:46like be planning to be practicing and going back and
- 25:49forth with the whole family. That was tiring, you know, like
- 25:52for everybody. And it was definitely a tough
- 25:55stretch last year at that time of the year.
- 25:57And, but I mean, we made it through.
- 26:00And yeah, I mean, this year has been a little different, a lot
- 26:04of sadder time. My, my godfather passed away at
- 26:08the end of the year, like in May.
- 26:10So that was, that was a little tough for us and for, for me and
- 26:13my wife and my kids. We two weeks ago we had to our
- 26:18dog passed away. So that was like probably one of
- 26:21the saddest days I've been in my life.
- 26:24Like it's, it was so sad to see the kids actually have like deep
- 26:28pain in, in himself. And it was like really an
- 26:32experience that I wish I'd never go through again to, to, to see
- 26:36everybody being so sad. So obviously that's, that's just
- 26:40part of life and we move on and we continue and it's a lot
- 26:43better at the house. And it was a tough stretch
- 26:46there. But I mean, everything is just
- 26:48smooth at the house right now. And got to give credit to my
- 26:51wife. She's like she's a, she's the
- 26:54captain of the ship and she makes sure that everything goes
- 26:57smoothly. And I mean without her I would
- 27:00be. I wouldn't be as stable as I am
- 27:03right now for sure. Well, condolences on those,
- 27:06John. That's, that's never easy to
- 27:08hear, but you're, you've mentioned it, I believe.
- 27:11And we've heard Nick Hague, your former teammate in Vegas, talk
- 27:13about it as well. The, the year out there, you
- 27:16guys missed the playoffs in Vegas.
- 27:17You come back the next year kind of angry, for a lack of a better
- 27:21term, that you know things didn't go your way.
- 27:24You end up winning the Stanley Cup that next year.
- 27:27Maybe a little bit of a similarity here, but that hunger
- 27:29to win, as you've kind of mentioned, when things don't go
- 27:32well, How much does that drive you now to coming into this
- 27:35season? Yeah, it was like the year that
- 27:38we didn't make the playoff. It was like a similar year of us
- 27:42last year. I was like, oh, everybody said
- 27:44like you guys going to be one of the top teams in the league and
- 27:48he finally like didn't make the playoffs.
- 27:52So that obviously everybody was pretty pissed.
- 27:54But I mean, good for the organization like Vegas and here
- 28:00this year, like they say, OK, it didn't go well.
- 28:02Let's what can we do to become better and do do the changes in
- 28:07the summer to to try to become a better team.
- 28:09And, and after no one, like at that time, no one said that we
- 28:15were one of the forces of the league and we just kept lying.
- 28:19And you know, like it's, it's OK to not have like always a
- 28:21bullseye on our back and saying that you're always one of the
- 28:25best and stuff like that. It gets it gets you in a comfort
- 28:28zone that you don't necessarily want to be like, you know, for
- 28:31it's fuels us for energy. And I think we're we believe
- 28:35that we can beat anyone in that league and it's just us to to
- 28:40get in the groove early and get some mojo going.
- 28:43Being reunited with Nick. Hey, what's it like now?
- 28:45You know, having your former teammate back in the building.
- 28:49Yeah, it's great. And like obviously when you win
- 28:52the Stanley Cup with your everybody on that team, you're
- 28:56like, oh, you have a special bound with them.
- 29:00So obviously that's always special, but mean me and Hagger
- 29:04were already pretty close. Like we drove together to the
- 29:07airport every single time we'd go on a row.
- 29:09So we were like, we're already good friends and he lived in in
- 29:13my neighborhood. So he came along with the years.
- 29:15So I was pretty close to him. And obviously I was one of the
- 29:20guys to call in like to say that's a great spot.
- 29:23You'll love it here and stuff like that.
- 29:25So he was definitely feeling reassured because it's it's
- 29:29definitely I know how we feel. It's definitely hard to to leave
- 29:32a situation, a good situation and a great spot, a place that
- 29:36you win and you were successful for a lot of time, a lot of
- 29:39years. So it was definitely probably
- 29:41hard for him to, to like, because you, you build so many
- 29:45friendship in the past years and now just like that, you just
- 29:48don't see them every day of your, like, of your like every
- 29:52day of your day-to-day, your day-to-day like the guys that
- 29:58you see, you know, So it's, it's definitely a transition and it's
- 30:02his first time going through this.
- 30:03So definitely going to try to help him along the time.
- 30:07But I mean, it's so natural me and him to, to hang out together
- 30:11and he's, he's a great dude and he's like, he's a force out
- 30:14there. And I'm definitely disappointed
- 30:15for him to be injured right now. But I mean, he's going to be
- 30:18ready soon and I'm excited to to have him on my side for sure.
- 30:23Fred's fans have seen him play 3-4 times a year the last six
- 30:27years now and he's a memorable player.
- 30:29He's the big presence on the back end, but you've seen him
- 30:32play almost every NHL game he's never played.
- 30:34So once we do get to see Nick Hague back in there, hopefully
- 30:37by the end of October, early November, what should Fred's
- 30:40fans expect from him? This.
- 30:44It takes so much room on the ice.
- 30:46It's honestly annoying to play against guys like that because
- 30:49they're just so long and it takes so much room.
- 30:51So I think that's something that that say is it's it's it's a
- 30:56great quality to have to, to be known to be hard to play
- 30:59against. And Nick is something that's
- 31:01someone that's hard to play against.
- 31:03He's good defensively. He's he makes good plays with
- 31:06the puck. He's not the kind of guy that's
- 31:08going to be electric like a Roman Yossi, but he does his
- 31:12role perfectly and you know what to get from him every single
- 31:16night and that's it in hockey, to be able to have consistency
- 31:19and know what to get from certain guys every night, that's
- 31:22probably one of the best quality he can have.
- 31:24So we're we're lucky to have him.
- 31:27And I mean, obviously he plays a physical game like he's he's
- 31:31he's mean in front of the net. He's mean a corner and he's
- 31:34tough too. Like he he can't drop the glove
- 31:36when it's need to. He needs to to get done.
- 31:40But I mean, he he definitely brings a lot of security for a
- 31:44team and a lot of stability back there as well.
- 31:48So Marshy, another couple of guys that you're really becoming
- 31:50familiar with. You've been together on Alliance
- 31:52since day one of camp, Eric Halla and Michael Bunting.
- 31:55What do you like about your trio?
- 31:57What's it been like skating with those two?
- 32:00What I like about? Them is they're veteran games,
- 32:04veteran guys in the league, and I think that's something that
- 32:08like, I don't know, like you, you kind of saw like sometimes
- 32:12playing with veteran guys, they're not going to say, look,
- 32:15let's say the fastest or the the the most skilled players out
- 32:19there, but they they think the game well.
- 32:21And I and I like playing with guys that think the game well.
- 32:24And you know, I'm not personally a guy that likes to try like the
- 32:28one-on-one stuff and stuff like that.
- 32:30So I'm definitely really happy to play with two guys that know
- 32:34how to play the game the right way.
- 32:35And I mean, Holla is so responsible both ways of the ice
- 32:39and definitely create a lot of speed up the middle.
- 32:43He's he's a pass first mentality, which is fun for a
- 32:45guy that likes to shoot the puck like me.
- 32:47And I mean, Michael, I think it's it's, it's it's his heart
- 32:52and his dedication to go to the net and doing all the little
- 32:55things. You know, the four check the
- 32:57stuff like that. That's sometimes not everybody
- 33:01is always willing to do in the world of hockey.
- 33:03But for him, he knows what makes him successful and he's going to
- 33:07keep doing those things. And that definitely creates room
- 33:09for a guy like me. So it's, it's been good.
- 33:11You know, we've been, we've been playing the right way when we
- 33:15play together and it's, it's, and we've been most likely out
- 33:19of our, out of our D zone. So I mean, if, if that's good,
- 33:24normally the offense can, if you take good care of your defense
- 33:28side, the, the, the offense can come a little easier.
- 33:32I feel like you guys are like almost all three very similar
- 33:36players. You have that same sort of
- 33:37style. Do we need to name this line?
- 33:39Have you guys come up with anything yet of what you're
- 33:41calling yourself? No, I've not thought about it.
- 33:45I mean, obviously we're playing together and sometimes it's a
- 33:48long year. So I just don't want to put
- 33:51pressure on the coach to like, say like, oh, this line's name
- 33:55is this. We got to keep it together.
- 33:58But no, I mean, it's, it's, it's just three guys that want to
- 34:02work hard and are dedicated to, to get their team to the other
- 34:06level. And I mean, it's, it's, it's
- 34:09kind of nice to to play with the with guys like that for sure.
- 34:15Well, John, we've also got Fred's babies are sprouting.
- 34:19We know Michael Mccarran just had a baby.
- 34:21Michael Bunting your line mate Brady Shea coming up soon.
- 34:24Are you and Ryan O'Reilly comfortable with your clubhouse
- 34:27lead? Are you looking over your
- 34:28shoulder at all? There's a lot of little ones
- 34:30running around now. Yeah, I mean 4 is quite the
- 34:33numbers. So if they want to go to four,
- 34:35good for them, but they can, they can come spend the day at
- 34:38my house and see how it is and they'll see.
- 34:42No, but I, I wouldn't think, I mean, it's the best like me and
- 34:45my wife, like we, we talk about it a lot obviously.
- 34:48And we're like always making scheduling and we're like, oh,
- 34:51it's a lot. And it's like, yeah, but I love
- 34:53it. You know, it's, it's the best to
- 34:55just like pursue their dream and their activities and being there
- 34:59with them and make them just just make sure they, they're
- 35:03ready for life, you know, whenever they get old and they,
- 35:05they can spread their wings. So it's actually the it's the
- 35:09best. And I remembered I was age,
- 35:11baby, baby age and their great days too.
- 35:14But I mean, when you're past it, I don't know person as a parent
- 35:18right now wouldn't go back to it.
- 35:19So I'm definitely happy of having four kids and they were
- 35:23pretty tight to each other and great, great chemistry in our
- 35:27house. And we're, we're, we're
- 35:29definitely lucky and blessed. He's got chemistry with his
- 35:33linemates. He's got chemistry in the house
- 35:35too. Jonathan Marshall.
- 35:36So thanks so much for joining us.
- 35:37Looking forward to Year 2 for you in Smashville.
- 35:41When we come back, we'll tell you about the new food options
- 35:43and also the new player facilities at Bridgestone Arena
- 35:46on the Predators Official Podcast.
- 35:55Welcome back to the Predators official podcast.
- 35:57I'm Kara Hammer, along with Brooks Bratton and Max hers and
- 36:01guys, a lot of upgrades happening at Bridgestone Arena.
- 36:04I've seen a sauna, I've seen an infrared light.
- 36:07And I'm just wondering how do I get one of those in Studio H for
- 36:10the season? Brooks and Max, you guys were
- 36:14both there. Tickets are some of the changes
- 36:16we're seeing downstairs. Yeah, it's been a $5,000,000
- 36:23investment just over the summer at Bridstone Arena and it it
- 36:27enhances a ton of the player facilities that they use on both
- 36:31game days and practice days. The locker room itself has not
- 36:35changed. Every single other piece of the
- 36:38team area around the locker room has changed.
- 36:41At Bridgestone Arena, every area has gotten bigger and every
- 36:45single area has gotten new amenities as well.
- 36:47So it starts with the players lounge.
- 36:50The players have always had a players lounge, but the players
- 36:52lounge has moved and been greatly increased in size and it
- 36:57includes a 136 inch TV screen, which is absolutely massive and
- 37:04can also be split into a quad box for different things at
- 37:08different times. That room includes tons of comfy
- 37:10chairs, a lot of space. It also includes a full service
- 37:13kitchen where the team chef will be cooking when the team is home
- 37:17and playing home games, as many as three meals a day for the
- 37:21Preds to have. And then you have the treatment
- 37:23and recovery areas. The team already had a hot and
- 37:26cold tub. Those areas now have a much
- 37:28larger space. You got them right next to each
- 37:30other. They are bigger than what you
- 37:32would picture even a normal hot tub would be.
- 37:35They're quite large. One of them is 50° and one of
- 37:38them is 104 degrees. So different guys like different
- 37:42temperatures at different times in game day, different times of
- 37:45recovery. Ryan O'Reilly goes in the tub
- 37:48every single intermission and then gets dressed all over
- 37:50again. So everybody's got their
- 37:52different uses for these things. And the biggest thing, Brooks,
- 37:55is these guys just have more options now in their recovery
- 37:59day. And it's all in one facility at
- 38:01the arena. And the athletic trainers room
- 38:04is significantly larger as well and moved across the hallway,
- 38:08which opened up space for these areas to get larger and also
- 38:11gives the guys and the athletic training staff significantly
- 38:14more space for the medical care that goes on 24/7 September
- 38:20through June in the hockey season.
- 38:22Absolutely. It's the, the setup looks
- 38:24amazing. The equipment is is really
- 38:26great. And we've heard a number of
- 38:28people from the Predators organization, like the business
- 38:30side of the front office, the ones who make these decisions,
- 38:33Max, as you mentioned, part of the renovations, the $750
- 38:37million worth of renovations, they've already begun in this
- 38:40sense. But we've heard people say that
- 38:43just because last season didn't go the way that everybody
- 38:45expected on the ice, that doesn't mean that you don't make
- 38:48improvements. It doesn't mean that you stop
- 38:51getting new facilities, new equipment, those sorts of
- 38:54things. So this is simply a way to give
- 38:58the team the very best. These are hockey players playing
- 39:00in the best league in the world. They deserve to have the best
- 39:03facilities, the best equipment and every little detail, no
- 39:06minor how minuscule in a setting like this, it matters.
- 39:09It it makes a big difference in the grand scheme of things.
- 39:12So really cool. It was tempting to, to jump into
- 39:15the hot and the cold tubs, but we'll leave those for the we'll
- 39:17leave those for the real athletes.
- 39:18I don't know. Maybe we'll sneak down there
- 39:20during next to the next offseason or something.
- 39:22I don't know. Well, the team also has a
- 39:24hyperbaric chamber, which I am not good at describing what it
- 39:28is, but I think a lot of sports fans have heard about this and
- 39:32it's right along the ground. It's a long, thin cylinder and
- 39:36you just lay in it flat and you get in and you zip it up and you
- 39:40go in there. And I have now been lucky enough
- 39:43to tour this whole player facility twice.
- 39:45First with the Predator's entire staff, the office staff who was
- 39:49going to see it for the first time, and then again this week
- 39:52with other media members. And both times when we have
- 39:54walked into the recovery room, I've tried to prank people and
- 39:58say hey guys, keep it down. There's a player in there right
- 40:03now because you can't see into it when it's closed.
- 40:06And I've had mixed results. Who do you think?
- 40:10Who do you think would be in there at 6:00 on a Monday
- 40:14evening when nobody else is there?
- 40:17Ryan, that's a good guess. Probably be the most likely one.
- 40:22One more thing about the renovations that I did not
- 40:24mention. That doesn't sound important,
- 40:27but it is important. The team's bathroom and shower
- 40:30area off of the locker room is also significantly larger and
- 40:34includes 2 saunas, 1 steam sauna and one finish sauna.
- 40:39And you know which players are going to be in there.
- 40:42The goalies will be in there aplenty.
- 40:44The shower area is much larger and lots of sinks, lots of
- 40:49showers, lots of bathrooms. It's really big.
- 40:54It's really impressive and again, I think this just adds to
- 40:57it. You might look at it and say,
- 40:58well, who cares how big the bathroom is?
- 41:00Like it, it makes a difference in that sense.
- 41:02And and one day we've heard talk that potentially this area could
- 41:06be part one day of the visiting team locker room area, depending
- 41:09on how they finagle things down on the event level when they
- 41:11completely redo the home team area and really make it
- 41:15state-of-the-art. But again, I think, you know,
- 41:17we've seen videos of of the Florida Panthers facility.
- 41:20We know the success that they've had in South Florida, stuff like
- 41:23that plays into all of this. So really great additions down
- 41:27there on the event level for the Predators players and Max.
- 41:29We got a chance to see a couple of elements from the new game
- 41:32presentation as well. Installing Cryo jets in the end
- 41:36zones of the arena. That's exciting.
- 41:39A new set up for Crazy Kyle, a new DJ booth.
- 41:42There's lots to come for the fans when the team is not on the
- 41:46ice or when there's a break in the action.
- 41:48You're going to be about just as entertained off the ice as you
- 41:51will compared to what's going on on the ice.
- 41:55Yeah, So I did not know what a cryo jet was by name, but I've
- 41:58seen them in other arenas. It is the things where they
- 42:01shoot smoke out from the top of the board.
- 42:04So we're expecting those to go off when the Preds take the ice
- 42:08and when the Preds score, I will not be the one running those.
- 42:11So I'm not sure exactly when they're going to go off, but get
- 42:14excited for those. And the scoreboard is always a
- 42:18great time. We got everybody up there going
- 42:20crazy. Those of you who were at the
- 42:21preseason game last week saw the players playing a game called
- 42:27Shakespeare or country music where they received a line that
- 42:30was from either a country song or Shakespeare iambic pentameter
- 42:34and had to guess. And it was absolutely
- 42:37ridiculous. And there will be more
- 42:40installments of that, we are told.
- 42:42And yeah, there's always great stuff going on, but Crazy Kyle's
- 42:45got a new organ set up, DJ Battle's got a new DJ set up.
- 42:48And we'll be our DJ for every game this season as he well
- 42:51deserves to be. So shout out to DJ Battle.
- 42:53And the band stage is going to get some renovations.
- 42:57And I never get to see the band stage anymore because I'm always
- 43:00on the radio hosting the intermission show.
- 43:02So I I sadly have not seen a band stage show in Four Seasons,
- 43:06but it's still my favorite and I'm I miss being able to see it.
- 43:10It'll look a lot better and so lots to look forward to when you
- 43:14get to your seat but before you even make it to your section.
- 43:18And this is what I was most excited about on Monday, the
- 43:21annual opportunity to taste all the new food items that
- 43:25Delaware, N the Bridge Joan Arena chefs are cooking up and
- 43:29spreading out to all the concession stands for all the
- 43:31fans to try. So one thing that really stood
- 43:35out, there's going to be a Gelato stand outside of section
- 43:38one O 1. You can get Gelato into a Pred's
- 43:41goalie mask, a Gelato float. Who doesn't want to feel like
- 43:43they're in Italy with a little Gelato?
- 43:45Love that. And the the grilled cheese
- 43:48station, which a lot of folks are familiar with.
- 43:50Again, also right inside the main entrance, a lot of
- 43:54grinders, some new grinder sandwiches, which were
- 43:57excellent. And then at the Puckett's BBQ
- 44:00stands, a stuffed baked potato. That's a fun thing to have at a
- 44:04hockey game. BBQ Pork Nachos is a BBQ pork
- 44:07burrito as well. And then one of the highlights,
- 44:09Max, I don't know if you saw this, but it's Section 102, the
- 44:12burger stand, the new Broadway Glazed Honey Stack.
- 44:16It's a honey bun bottom with burger, cheddar, bacon, BBQ
- 44:20sauce and a doughnut top. So if you're looking for your
- 44:23sweet and your savory all in one bite for dinner, that's the
- 44:27place to go. I don't know how you make that
- 44:31sound so fancy, Brooks, because to me it's just doughnut burger.
- 44:34That's all I need to. Say, doughnut burger, 102
- 44:37doughnut burger. That's all you need to know.
- 44:38And honestly, I think this might be the coolest thing I think
- 44:42that the the Preds have introduced as far as the
- 44:44concessions are concerned. Upstairs, Section 317, the
- 44:47Smashville State Fair stand, fried Pickles, jalapeno poppers,
- 44:52mini apple pies, chili cheese fries, a lot of really good
- 44:56bites. Sometimes you just want
- 44:58something fried that you can pick up with your hands when
- 45:01you're watching a hockey game. Section 317, the Smashville
- 45:04State Fair stand, is the place to do that.
- 45:07There's other new concession items around the arena.
- 45:09A Raspberry cheesecake, chimichanga, A Bologna and
- 45:12cheese sandwich, a pork tenderloin sandwich.
- 45:15And then Max before you even get in the Bet MGM Sports Lounge,
- 45:18the restaurant on the 5th Ave. side of Bridgestone Arena, which
- 45:23is always available. You don't have to be going to a
- 45:25game. You can go for lunch or dinner,
- 45:27that's an exciting element. And they've got a ton of new
- 45:31items there as well. They were all really great.
- 45:33A Cuban sandwich, a Turkey burger.
- 45:35I love fried green tomatoes. You can get those there as well.
- 45:38So when you come to Bridgestone Arena this season for a Preds
- 45:41game or a concert, come hungry. Your taste buds will thank you
- 45:45all. Right, we're putting carrot
- 45:48hammer on the spot here. Hammer.
- 45:50You look hungry right now. Smashville State Fair has three
- 45:54different types of loaded fries, chili cheese fries, harne asada
- 46:00fries, and cheeseburger fries. What are you going for?
- 46:07I I, I, I don't know, I'm, I'm just, I'm still caught up on the
- 46:10Brooks bites. I feel like Brooks just went
- 46:12down that new everything off the top of his head.
- 46:15I am like absolutely amazed sitting here.
- 46:17But you know, I think I have to go with the OG chili cheese
- 46:21fries. I mean, that just seems like a
- 46:22State Fair staple, but. Love it?
- 46:26Check. Out.
- 46:27I'm going to think about this. Check out the reel on Instagram
- 46:30at Brooks Fights. You can see all the.
- 46:32Food my. Living color.
- 46:35Game all right, Be back. With.
- 46:38The big after this on the POP. Welcome back to the predators
- 46:46official podcast third episode of the season.
- 46:49We are a week away from the regular season people.
- 46:52My name is Max Hurst from preds radio with my Co host Kara
- 46:55hammer from preds TV, Brooks Bratton from preds.com.
- 46:59The whole crew is here. You can watch us on YouTube.

- 47:05radio on the radio home of preds hockey 102.5 the game.
- 47:08So make sure to subscribe to the predators official podcast on
- 47:11your favorite podcast platform. This is our third weekly award
- 47:16honoring Aaron Donnick, wife of Willie Donnick, who we sadly
- 47:20lost this summer to lung cancer. Aaron was the most positive
- 47:23person in the world and had so many amazing Aaron isms that we
- 47:28love. And every week on the POP, we
- 47:31are giving out an award in her honor called The Big E for Aaron
- 47:35Donnick. The first two winners.
- 47:38The first winner was Philip Forsberg and his wife, also
- 47:41named Aaron, for making a large donation in conjunction with the
- 47:44Preds Foundation and Aaron's Memory to Stars, the foundation
- 47:48that helps those recovering from drug addiction that Aaron worked
- 47:51for and was a major passion in her life.
- 47:54So that was our first winner. Last week, Preds defenseman
- 47:57Spencer Stassney won for opening up about his battle with
- 48:00depression and anxiety over the summer and returning to the
- 48:03Preds this year for training camp and being a whole new man
- 48:05and a whole new hockey player. And I will turn it over to Kara
- 48:09to reveal the third weekly winners of the Big E.
- 48:16All right, this week, our Big E winner of the week.
- 48:20Why are you so awesome, wise black brothers?
- 48:23We're giving this one out to Ozzy and Oasis, who have clearly
- 48:27shined and may be given a few shiners during training camp.
- 48:32Take us through what you saw on the ice with Oasis.
- 48:36Then I mean two wives. Go ahead, Brooks.
- 48:39Yeah, Oasis has been going at it since the rookie tournament in
- 48:42Tampa. The video of him and the
- 48:45shootout given it to the Carolina bench kind of went
- 48:47viral a few weeks ago that I had.
- 48:49And then Max, we're gonna play it in just a minute.
- 48:52But Ozzie and Oasis making impacts on the ice and
- 48:56Clarksville as well. The bonus shootout after the
- 48:58Gold Star scrimmage, the only two skaters to score in the
- 49:02shootout, Ozzy and Oasis. And then over the weekend in
- 49:06Tampa and Carolina, they both found ways to make impacts.
- 49:10Yeah, both returning from a tragic family moment.
- 49:14The Wise Lad family got so much love in the hockey world.
- 49:17First, when Ozzy was drafted last year when Ozzy made his NHL
- 49:20debut. Five siblings, both of their
- 49:23parents are deaf and they've overcome a ton to be high level
- 49:27hockey players. And one of the five wise black
- 49:29siblings, Orca, their older brother, the second oldest of
- 49:32the five wise black siblings died tragically in a car crash a
- 49:36couple of weeks ago back home in British Columbia, Canada.
- 49:39Both brothers left Preds training camp, were there for
- 49:42about a week and a half back with their family and they
- 49:45returned from a tragic moment and both showed well in their
- 49:49first games of the preseason. First up, Ozzy gets on the
- 49:53board. Big moment.
- 49:56You know that it's. Oh, go ahead.
- 50:01Oh, I was going to say, you know, that it it, it's a big
- 50:03moment when Bruno is asked about the wise black, excuse me, Wise
- 50:08black brothers, especially Oasis, and he gets a smile on
- 50:11his face when he's talking about it.
- 50:13I mean, when your coach is smiling talking about you, you
- 50:15know that's a good sign. Yeah, it was a nice goal too,
- 50:19Brooks, regardless of the moment.
- 50:20But but a big a big moment to score in his first game back
- 50:23after his brother's death. A big celebration which you
- 50:27would never see from Ozzy in a preseason game outside of that
- 50:30extenuating circumstance. Pretty goal too.
- 50:33It definitely meant a little bit more.
- 50:34It was really great to see him get that.
- 50:36And then in Carolina on on Sunday, Oasis made his impact as
- 50:40well. I loved the comment postgame
- 50:43from Andrew Brunette, too. I couldn't help but ask because
- 50:45it really got the bench going. His scrap with Kevin Lebank and
- 50:48Carolina Oasis had and Bruno just kind of said, yeah, that
- 50:52Oasis, he's a fun player to watch.
- 50:58As heard on Fred's radio, Hal Gill and I had some fun.
- 51:00What that one The gloves coming off in the preseason.
- 51:04Kevin Lebank was ready for that fight to be done about 30
- 51:06seconds before it ended, and I think Oasis Wiseblatt would
- 51:09probably still be swinging here four days later if they've let
- 51:12him. No doubt.
- 51:14So Congrats to the Wiseblatt brothers on being awarded our
- 51:19biggie. Awesome Person of the Week
- 51:21again. Oasis is back in Milwaukee.
- 51:23He'll certainly make an impact there.
- 51:25Ozzie's still here in Nashville pushing to make the opening
- 51:28night roster. He's had a great camp again, of
- 51:31course, after coming back from an absence there, so really good
- 51:35to see Ozzy doing what he's doing here in Nashville and
- 51:38obviously sending nothing but the best to Ozzy Oasis and the
- 51:41entire Wise Black family. Yeah, and we are overjoyed to
- 51:45have two of those brothers in the Preds organization.
- 51:48And I think their teammates are very overjoyed to have them,
- 51:50too. They're good guys to have on
- 51:52your line. That's all the time we got for
- 51:54episode 3. We will be back for opening week
- 51:57next week. The first game of the season is
- 52:00Thursday night, October 9th at Bridgestone Arena against the
- 52:03Columbus Blue Jackets. We'll get you ready for that and
- 52:06so much more on The POP next week.
- 52:08For now, thanks so much for listening.
