- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, everybody. Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a bonus episode
- 0:13Speaker 1: from Long Story Short the podcast.
- 0:15Speaker 2: I'm Megan, I'm Wendy, and I'm in a mood, and.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Today we're discussing right in front of me, the fifth
- 0:23Speaker 1: and final movie in Hallmarks Spring Fling series for twenty
- 0:28Speaker 1: twenty one. Sorry, and not a moment too soon.
- 0:35Speaker 2: I mean, I was really excited thinking that we were
- 0:38Speaker 2: gonna get next week off because I haven't seen any
- 0:40Speaker 2: big new announcement about the next set of movies.
- 0:43Speaker 1: But bam, they hit you with Hearts down Under.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Another freakin Busby movie or whatever.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Hallmark is notoriously difficult to figure out what movies are
- 0:53Speaker 1: coming next. They're not like Super Forthcoming with their lineup.
- 0:58Speaker 1: So right now we know that we have Hearts down
- 1:01Speaker 1: undercoming next week, and then we might have a break
- 1:06Speaker 1: for all of May. There's nothing in the app and
- 1:09Speaker 1: there's nothing on the website, and then Summer Nights begins
- 1:13Speaker 1: June fifth. Now that doesn't mean Hallmark's not gonna throw
- 1:16Speaker 1: some original programming at us in May that we don't
- 1:19Speaker 1: know about, but it is not currently on the website
- 1:22Speaker 1: or in the app. So that's what we know now.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I feel like.
- 1:25Speaker 2: They just wing it, like they're like, let's throw this
- 1:28Speaker 2: movie in here, now, let's let's see what sticks here.
- 1:30Speaker 2: You know, they're just.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Firing where they have a schedule and then things change.
- 1:34Speaker 1: I don't really we know that their production turnaround is
- 1:37Speaker 1: really tight, especially for some of these movies.
- 1:39Speaker 2: They're film like last month.
- 1:40Speaker 1: And then they just kind of put them together. So
- 1:43Speaker 1: maybe they don't want to announce it too far in
- 1:44Speaker 1: advance in case that falls apart. I don't know, but
- 1:48Speaker 1: I do know that it's not like we get a
- 1:51Speaker 1: lot of advanced notice for these things. So that's what
- 1:54Speaker 1: we know right now. What else we know is this
- 1:57Speaker 1: is a bonus episode of this podcast, which means this
- 1:59Speaker 1: is not our weekly episode, although this week there was
- 2:02Speaker 1: no main episode, but typically every other week in the
- 2:06Speaker 1: past we produce a Tuesday episode. We'd love it if
- 2:09Speaker 1: you would take a listen to those. In addition to
- 2:11Speaker 1: these bonus episodes, you can also find us on Instagram
- 2:15Speaker 1: Megan and Wendy LSS, which stands for Long Story short
- 2:20Speaker 1: and you can hop into our Facebook group which is
- 2:21Speaker 1: Long Story Shorties.
- 2:23Speaker 2: And this is where I usually say we love your emails.
- 2:27Speaker 2: You can email us at Megananwindy at gmail dot com.
- 2:32Speaker 2: But we got an email that has kind of chaff
- 2:36Speaker 2: my hide?
- 2:37Speaker 1: Is that your hood chapped?
- 2:41Speaker 2: Chapped? I got chaff? Yeah that's gross, but yeah, chat
- 2:44Speaker 2: my hide. So Megan, I'm gonna turn it over to you.
- 2:47Speaker 1: This email begins with a few comments after listening to
- 2:50Speaker 1: your review. Howth is not pronounced how rather it's pronounced
- 2:54Speaker 1: like hoth, which okay, fine, I'm not Irish, right The
- 3:00Speaker 1: sport they were playing is hurling with an H. And
- 3:03Speaker 1: then it goes on to discuss the phase Ireland was
- 3:06Speaker 1: in a Phase five lockdown. Anyone who would have had
- 3:09Speaker 1: to self isolate for a minimum of ten days, although
- 3:11Speaker 1: there was no check by authority. We did discuss that
- 3:14Speaker 1: we believed that Ireland had a quarantine in place, although
- 3:17Speaker 1: you could travel there provided you adhere to their quarantine rules.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Talks a little bit about restraints for testing pandemicness. Is
- 3:26Speaker 1: this written by the Irish doctor fauci cause give me
- 3:29Speaker 1: a flip and break. Okay, go ahead, but here's what
- 3:32Speaker 1: I want to say, Like, typically, look, I like information
- 3:36Speaker 1: that we didn't know right, Like I'm not in Ireland,
- 3:38Speaker 1: I don't know how to print movies are being produced
- 3:40Speaker 1: in Ireland during a pandemic. Like, I like information, I
- 3:45Speaker 1: like the backstory, I like being like, give me the
- 3:47Speaker 1: give me the goods. Right. But I learned a lesson
- 3:51Speaker 1: on Instagram. Actually I learned to via podcast. And if
- 3:55Speaker 1: you follow Shavonda Gardner. First of all, she has this
- 3:57Speaker 1: absolutely beautiful feed. She's a decorator, a designer. Her house
- 4:03Speaker 1: is beautiful. Well the great I we will. But I
- 4:07Speaker 1: heard her on a podcast once where she discussed her
- 4:11Speaker 1: feelings about interacting with people, specifically in dms, because people
- 4:16Speaker 1: will drop into her DMS all the time and just
- 4:18Speaker 1: with like, and I'll say like link or where'd you
- 4:21Speaker 1: get it? Like, there's no conversation, there's no it's just
- 4:24Speaker 1: like transactional. It's right, give me information. And so she
- 4:29Speaker 1: went on to say how she had kind of taught Basically,
- 4:32Speaker 1: she's created these boundaries and put them in place and
- 4:35Speaker 1: has taught her followers how to interact. So if you
- 4:37Speaker 1: drop into her DMS with link, she'll respond with Hi,
- 4:40Speaker 1: good morning, how are you Like she demonstrates that conversation
- 4:45Speaker 1: And I honestly had never thought about that before and
- 4:49Speaker 1: it makes a lot of sense. And I try and
- 4:52Speaker 1: do that. I mean, you know, I don't think every
- 4:55Speaker 1: conversation needs to start with hi, Megan, right, Like you
- 4:58Speaker 1: have a relationship, you can just be responding to what
- 5:01Speaker 1: they're saying. But I do think there's something to be
- 5:04Speaker 1: said for like saying hello.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Like manners. Right, Okay, So remind the listeners how this
- 5:10Speaker 2: email started again.
- 5:12Speaker 1: It just has a few comments after listening to your review.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Not hey, ladies, not love the podcast, which you don't
- 5:17Speaker 1: have to say. You don't have to love the podcast.
- 5:19Speaker 1: That's okay, Hi.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Hello, Yeah, you're I feel like you're so restrained right now, Meghan,
- 5:28Speaker 2: Like I know you're like hung up on this person's
- 5:31Speaker 2: like greetings and salutations, but I think this person can
- 5:35Speaker 2: eat it because I'm not having it.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Prior to recording this, Wendy was like, I'm in the
- 5:40Speaker 1: mood and you're gonna have to bleep the podcast.
- 5:43Speaker 2: So you can go ahead and bleep that, but like seriously,
- 5:48Speaker 2: like I am so tired, Like like you said, give
- 5:51Speaker 2: us the information, give us the goods, greet us with
- 5:55Speaker 2: a hello, but don't come at us and say this
- 6:00Speaker 2: is how you do it, this is what's going on,
- 6:03Speaker 2: this is ann goodbye, Like I'm so tired of people
- 6:07Speaker 2: just thinking that they have the right to speak to
- 6:11Speaker 2: other people like that, especially online.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Right where you have no relationship.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Yeah, like, come on, Like the world is a crappy
- 6:21Speaker 2: place enough, let's like be a little bit nicer to
- 6:23Speaker 2: each other.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Like we do we want to interact with you. Don't
- 6:28Speaker 1: let this.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Gmail dot com. I tell you we read every single
- 6:33Speaker 2: one of them.
- 6:33Speaker 1: All right, Well, this movie is right in front of me,
- 6:36Speaker 1: and Wendy, do you have a synopsis?
- 6:38Speaker 2: I do, right in front of me. Carly has a
- 6:42Speaker 2: second chance at romance with her college crush, but is
- 6:45Speaker 2: unable to impress him until her new friend Nick starts
- 6:48Speaker 2: giving her advice. Soon she learns who the right man
- 6:52Speaker 2: for her really is. Starring Janelle Parrish and Marco Grazzini.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I think that synops, this is not a true synopsis
- 7:02Speaker 2: of this movie.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Her college crush, all right? Was she trying to impress him?
- 7:09Speaker 2: I don't think so, but okay, whatever.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Yeah, so let's do some news and notes about this movie.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Go for it, okay. So of course it was filmed
- 7:20Speaker 1: in Vancouver. It was written by Julie Sherman Wolf And
- 7:24Speaker 1: if you have not heard our interview with her. We'll
- 7:26Speaker 1: leave a link to that in the show notes. Because
- 7:27Speaker 1: she was lovely.
- 7:29Speaker 2: We loved her.
- 7:31Speaker 1: New Year New Movies movie Taking a Shot at Love
- 7:34Speaker 1: that was the first movie of twenty twenty one, and
- 7:36Speaker 1: then we have a review of that as well. So
- 7:39Speaker 1: I was happy to kind of round out this series
- 7:43Speaker 1: with her movie.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I was definitely looking forward to this movie because
- 7:46Speaker 2: I love her so much. I thought she was so nice.
- 7:49Speaker 2: She is now a Facebook friend of mine. As I'm
- 7:52Speaker 2: like dusting off the whatever on my shoulders, whatever the
- 7:55Speaker 2: kids say. Anyway, I was really looking forward to it
- 7:57Speaker 2: because I love the way she writes and I like
- 7:59Speaker 2: the line that she puts in there. So we'll talk
- 8:01Speaker 2: some more about that. But yes, Julie Sherman woof, you
- 8:04Speaker 2: should listen to our I'll drop a link to it
- 8:07Speaker 2: our podcast interview we did with her.
- 8:08Speaker 1: You might know Janelle Parrish from Pretty Little Liars? Were
- 8:11Speaker 1: you a Pretty Little Liar's Watcher? I know, yes, ma'am,
- 8:14Speaker 1: Yes I was. I've seen I was not. I've seen
- 8:16Speaker 1: a few episodes and I didn't stick with it.
- 8:19Speaker 2: I will say, I will say I didn't finish out
- 8:22Speaker 2: the series. I watched like the first three seasons of it.
- 8:24Speaker 2: I like her. I like her.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Yeah, and Marco Gazzini has starred in several Hallmark movies.
- 8:30Speaker 1: And that's all I got for news and notes. Do
- 8:32Speaker 1: you have anything else?
- 8:33Speaker 2: Zero things? Okay, Well, let's do first impressions and you
- 8:37Speaker 2: go first. I felt that Right in front of Me
- 8:40Speaker 2: was a solid movie. Not my favorite of the bunch,
- 8:45Speaker 2: but a solid movie.
- 8:49Speaker 1: It would have been nearly impossible for me to have
- 8:52Speaker 1: liked this movie more than I liked as luck would
- 8:55Speaker 1: have it.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what it's called. I love how you like
- 8:58Speaker 2: forget from week to week with the what the heck
- 9:00Speaker 2: these movies are called?
- 9:01Speaker 1: I knew it was something lucky. It would have been
- 9:03Speaker 1: nearly impossible. Look there had That movie had so many
- 9:05Speaker 1: things going for it that I loved it so much.
- 9:09Speaker 1: But this, I agree, was a solid movie. I think
- 9:11Speaker 1: it takes a solid second place among all of the
- 9:14Speaker 1: Spring Fling movies for me.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Oh good, good, good, good good.
- 9:18Speaker 1: All right, what did you like about this movie? Well?
- 9:23Speaker 2: I really love the lead actors. I especially loved the
- 9:28Speaker 2: guy that played Nick, Marco Grazzini. Is that how you
- 9:30Speaker 2: say his last name Grazzini? Grazzini? If it's not please
- 9:33Speaker 2: email us unless know how to pronounce.
- 9:34Speaker 1: That, Just say high first.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Anyhow, I really loved him. I thought he was like
- 9:40Speaker 2: natural and super likable, and I like the way they
- 9:44Speaker 2: played off each other. I especially liked it wasn't you
- 9:47Speaker 2: know I hate you, you hate me, Now we like
- 9:50Speaker 2: each other. It started out as like this nice organic
- 9:54Speaker 2: relationship and him trying to help her, blah blah blah whatever.
- 9:58Speaker 2: So I liked that. I love the clothing. I really
- 10:01Speaker 2: love whoever Hallmark style or not that whoever Hallmark hires
- 10:08Speaker 2: to do the costuming on these movies. I love, like,
- 10:11Speaker 2: please come and pick some clothes out for me. I
- 10:13Speaker 2: love it, love it, I love it. Always so cute,
- 10:16Speaker 2: she always looked so darling. I loved it. And the
- 10:19Speaker 2: very last thing I liked is at the very end
- 10:22Speaker 2: when they kissed, she was the one who like went
- 10:26Speaker 2: in for the kiss. It wasn't like she was waiting
- 10:29Speaker 2: for him to kiss her. I kind I don't know
- 10:32Speaker 2: if I ever really noticed that in any of the
- 10:34Speaker 2: other movies, but in this one, maybe because the height
- 10:37Speaker 2: difference was so noticeable. He's much taller than she is.
- 10:41Speaker 2: She's tiny, so maybe like her reaching up to him,
- 10:44Speaker 2: like I was like, Oh, she's going for it. I
- 10:46Speaker 2: like it. Okay, what about you would you like about
- 10:49Speaker 2: this movie?
- 10:49Speaker 1: I loved the food and the presentation of the food.
- 10:52Speaker 1: There was so much attention to detail paid to that
- 10:55Speaker 1: and I loved it. I loved the tiny little fork.
- 10:57Speaker 1: I thought that was beautiful. I thought the sets were beautiful.
- 11:01Speaker 1: I have something else to say about the sets. Yes,
- 11:04Speaker 1: there was the sets where they were the spaces were beautiful,
- 11:08Speaker 1: lots of fresh flowers, which I really liked. I also
- 11:11Speaker 1: loved Carly's wardrobe. And one thing I really liked is
- 11:15Speaker 1: that Matt, who was her college crush. I thought they
- 11:18Speaker 1: could have really he could have turned out to be
- 11:21Speaker 1: like a jerk, right, It could have been like, oh,
- 11:23Speaker 1: why do I have these memories of him? He's actually
- 11:25Speaker 1: a jerk? And he wasn't it just he wasn't the
- 11:27Speaker 1: guy for her. And I read Julie Sherman Wolf was
- 11:32Speaker 1: tweeting along with the premiere of this movie, and I
- 11:34Speaker 1: read some of her tweets and she said that it
- 11:37Speaker 1: was really important to her that he wasn't a cat,
- 11:39Speaker 1: that he you know, it's someone can be not right
- 11:41Speaker 1: for you and they don't have to be a bad guy,
- 11:43Speaker 1: and I liked that choice that I just wasn't the
- 11:47Speaker 1: guy for her. So that's what I liked about this movie.
- 11:51Speaker 2: I have a thought about the food. It was very
- 11:55Speaker 2: I've been watching the new season of Top Chef on
- 11:59Speaker 2: brav and I thought that the food styling in this
- 12:04Speaker 2: movie was very like high end. It reminded me of
- 12:08Speaker 2: like watching Top Chef when they present these beautiful dishes. Yeah,
- 12:11Speaker 2: that was that was fun to watch. And we have
- 12:13Speaker 2: a friend, a close friend, who's a food stylist. I
- 12:15Speaker 2: would love like. I wonder if they hire food stylists
- 12:19Speaker 2: for for movies they must write.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I'm sure whether they did for this one, I don't know,
- 12:25Speaker 1: but certainly movies have food stylists.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Yeah. Anyway, total side note, All right, what did you
- 12:32Speaker 2: wish for in this movie? The one thing that I
- 12:34Speaker 2: really wished for in this movie is Carly. I'm tired
- 12:39Speaker 2: of the narrative that women have to be more right.
- 12:44Speaker 2: So here she is, she's this great stylist. There are
- 12:49Speaker 2: obvious tons of professional stylists out there that make a
- 12:55Speaker 2: crap ton of money. So she's this like great stylist,
- 12:58Speaker 2: blah blah blah whatever. Why does she have to now
- 13:00Speaker 2: become a designer. It's like, why why, I agree? I
- 13:07Speaker 2: hate that, Like, oh, now you have to be more?
- 13:10Speaker 2: Why can't she just be content and good at what
- 13:12Speaker 2: she does? Right, And she's booked for a year, right,
- 13:15Speaker 2: So it was not a necessary element of the story.
- 13:18Speaker 2: I thought the overall, she has a successful career, and
- 13:21Speaker 2: I didn't feel like they sold it to me that
- 13:24Speaker 2: she really wanted more, Like she seemed very happy in
- 13:29Speaker 2: the job. It was just like they felt like they
- 13:31Speaker 2: needed I think they could have had all of those
- 13:34Speaker 2: elements of her kind of coming in to save the
- 13:39Speaker 2: day with the bride'smaid's dresses and her altering her own dress,
- 13:42Speaker 2: Like those could have been fun little elements without them
- 13:45Speaker 2: leading to.
- 13:46Speaker 1: A career change, right, you know. And her friend could
- 13:49Speaker 1: have said, you know, like you have such a talent.
- 13:51Speaker 1: She could have said, I know, that's just you know,
- 13:52Speaker 1: I enjoy that, but my heart's in styling. I think
- 13:55Speaker 1: you could have done those things without needing her, Like
- 13:59Speaker 1: you said, to be more.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Absolutely, what did you wish for?
- 14:03Speaker 1: I well, I have a couple of very small wishes.
- 14:07Speaker 1: One I wished for some different scenery. We spend the
- 14:11Speaker 1: first half of the movie at least like in one room.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Like they're in that hotel lobby and it's like the
- 14:20Speaker 1: cocktail hour, and like like every scene happens in that
- 14:24Speaker 1: one room.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Was the actual wedding ceremony in that room too?
- 14:28Speaker 1: It seemed like it. Yeah, and you know, I get it.
- 14:33Speaker 1: There's more in the final section that I'll talk about.
- 14:35Speaker 1: I mean, it was a pretty room. It was a
- 14:36Speaker 1: beautiful room, and I liked that when they were in
- 14:39Speaker 1: the hotel there was always something happening in the background.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Granted it wasn't a huge cast. It was always like
- 14:44Speaker 1: members of this tiny, little wedding party. But I did
- 14:47Speaker 1: like that there were things going on in the background,
- 14:48Speaker 1: which we don't always get. Sometimes we just get like
- 14:50Speaker 1: a real tight shot of a corner and there's no
- 14:52Speaker 1: need to include the other people. But I just wished
- 14:55Speaker 1: for a little bit of a variation.
- 14:57Speaker 2: The girl who played the bride looked very familiar, and
- 15:01Speaker 2: I could not put my thumb on it. Where she
- 15:04Speaker 2: what she's from? Did she look familiar to you at all?
- 15:07Speaker 1: Nope?
- 15:08Speaker 2: Shall we IMDb it? Sure we can do. The other
- 15:12Speaker 2: thing is the other gal who played one of the bridesmaids.
- 15:16Speaker 2: She is She has been in so many movies this year.
- 15:19Speaker 2: It's funny how sometimes she has a much larger role
- 15:24Speaker 2: and then she has a much smaller role. I wonder,
- 15:27Speaker 2: is she just like a secondary actor, Like she's never
- 15:30Speaker 2: had like a lead role in any of the movies
- 15:32Speaker 2: we've watched. Has she not?
- 15:35Speaker 1: That I recall? I do know who you're talking about. Okay.
- 15:39Speaker 1: The bride is played by an actress named Claire Philip Howe. Oh.
- 15:44Speaker 1: She was in on the Twelfth Date of Christmas with
- 15:49Speaker 1: our buddy Tyler Hines.
- 15:52Speaker 2: I loved that movie. I don't remember what she was
- 15:55Speaker 2: what she played in that movie, but maybe that's just
- 15:57Speaker 2: where I recognize her.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Her name was Shannon in the movie. I don't remember either,
- 16:00Speaker 1: but perhaps that's what we remember her from. And I
- 16:02Speaker 1: agree that that other actress isn't a lot she Alexander.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Yeah, that's her. She was definitely in that time travel
- 16:10Speaker 2: movie with her. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:12Speaker 2: She's been in something else too. This year.
- 16:15Speaker 1: She was in Love Lights Hanukkah. She was in a
- 16:19Speaker 1: Timeless Christmas and I think that's all that we've watched.
- 16:25Speaker 1: But she has and several Hallmark movie credits, and actually
- 16:29Speaker 1: the third Brides may look familiar to me as well,
- 16:31Speaker 1: and her name is Mercedes Dai La Cruz. She's also
- 16:34Speaker 1: been in some other Hallmark movies, including a lone Star
- 16:38Speaker 1: Christmas that also starred Mark Eny. Yeah, another small, tiny
- 16:45Speaker 1: little wish to your point about her wardrobe. She was
- 16:48Speaker 1: going on a relaxing weekend away and the entire time
- 16:54Speaker 1: she's dressed like she's going to work. Even her date
- 16:57Speaker 1: outfit looks like something you would wear to thee. I
- 17:01Speaker 1: loved her wedding dress. I thought that was beautiful, but
- 17:04Speaker 1: I thought, really, you're not gonna bring you don't need
- 17:06Speaker 1: to be in joggers. But even people who dress up
- 17:09Speaker 1: for work and who were in fashion can dress casually
- 17:14Speaker 1: and look nice.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 17:16Speaker 1: I just thought, don't you want to be a little more.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I thought she looked great, I mean her, I loved
- 17:19Speaker 1: her dresses, but I thought she looked corporate a little bit.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Maybe she thought she was going out with I mean,
- 17:27Speaker 2: she wasn't really wearing stuff that was like hitting the town,
- 17:30Speaker 2: but like because she was supposed to be there with
- 17:32Speaker 2: her friend, who like was absent most of the time.
- 17:37Speaker 2: But maybe they were supposed to like, oh my god,
- 17:39Speaker 2: I'm like reading too much into this freaking backstory. It
- 17:42Speaker 2: doesn't matter. Yes, I agree that her too corporate.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Okay, tiver uh roadblocks in the way of our movie couple.
- 17:52Speaker 1: And there's kind of really only one big one here, Okay,
- 17:55Speaker 1: go ahead, Well, and that is that Carly starts out
- 18:00Speaker 1: pursuing Matt and Nick is helping her in the pursuit
- 18:03Speaker 1: of Matt.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Oh that's not mine, but okay, I agree that, right,
- 18:07Speaker 2: what's you as yours? Nick got a big fat nope
- 18:10Speaker 2: from getting an investor. You know, that's not like a
- 18:14Speaker 2: roadblock to their relationship, but like it's a roadblock to
- 18:17Speaker 2: the story of like him moving on and pursuing his
- 18:20Speaker 2: own dreams of becoming a whatever, a head chef or whatever.
- 18:25Speaker 1: I think you're right that it is a roadblock to
- 18:27Speaker 1: their relationship. And I actually strongly disliked that moment where
- 18:32Speaker 1: he gets the no. He tells her, he gets the
- 18:34Speaker 1: know she's about to have the conversation about the fact
- 18:38Speaker 1: that she has feelings for him, and he doesn't want
- 18:42Speaker 1: to have the conversation because he's but hurt about getting rejected.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Well, he would. You would be a little devastated too,
- 18:51Speaker 2: I guess, right if you got it told no about something,
- 18:54Speaker 2: but like.
- 18:55Speaker 1: He doesn't even want to be around her anymore. I
- 18:57Speaker 1: would be devastated too, but the alone now our relationship
- 19:03Speaker 1: can't happen either, because I'm a big baby. Look. I
- 19:07Speaker 1: had a college boyfriend who had a bad day and
- 19:08Speaker 1: broke up with me simply because he had a bad day,
- 19:11Speaker 1: and then like a week later was like, oh, that
- 19:13Speaker 1: was a mistake, and I was like, too freaking bad dude, because.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Yeah, did you tell him to eat it?
- 19:21Speaker 1: I should have, because I was like, I'm not going
- 19:23Speaker 1: to be the girl that you on and then come
- 19:27Speaker 1: back to when like, oh I'm in a better mood. Now.
- 19:30Speaker 1: That's not how relationships work. So I didn't love that,
- 19:34Speaker 1: although I'm sure I would have been like crabby abby
- 19:37Speaker 1: about it too.
- 19:39Speaker 2: It's okay, you don't have to take it down in
- 19:40Speaker 2: the person that you're in a relationship with or.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Like about to be like that's exciting. I don't know exactly, great, right, Okay,
- 19:49Speaker 1: all right, I have something very exciting for Did.
- 19:51Speaker 2: You see that I'm looking forward to this? If you guys, well,
- 19:54Speaker 2: we didn't tell you, but Megan sent me a text
- 19:56Speaker 2: and she's like, hey, I'm gonna throw you a curveball.
- 19:58Speaker 2: So I'm waiting for it, Megan.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Let's not overhype it, because Okay, here's what's going to happen.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I mentioned previously in the episode that Julie Sherman wolf
- 20:06Speaker 1: was live tweeting along with this movie, and as I
- 20:08Speaker 1: was reading her tweets, I realized that a number of
- 20:10Speaker 1: things that we would discuss in a did you see
- 20:12Speaker 1: that moment were answered by her. So I thought we
- 20:15Speaker 1: would do kind of a did you see that with
- 20:17Speaker 1: Julie Sherman Wolfe's reaction to that moment that she anticipated
- 20:20Speaker 1: people would be having did you see that? Moments about
- 20:23Speaker 1: are you into it?
- 20:24Speaker 2: I'm into it? Yes.
- 20:26Speaker 1: The first did you do that? Moment? And these are
- 20:28Speaker 1: not in chronological order. These are just in the order
- 20:30Speaker 1: in which I've written them down, is Carly alters the
- 20:35Speaker 1: dress she's going to wear to the wedding, and all
- 20:37Speaker 1: of a sudden she has a mini sewing machine and
- 20:40Speaker 1: all of these sewing supplies. And the question is where
- 20:43Speaker 1: on vacation did she get these supplies? The answer is
- 20:48Speaker 1: that was in a scene that was cut from the movie.
- 20:52Speaker 2: I wonder where they cut that, because I just thought
- 20:54Speaker 2: it was necessary to time have her run out. But
- 20:58Speaker 2: that's those are my favorite parts. Throw a good music
- 21:01Speaker 2: on and make it a freaking montage where she's making
- 21:04Speaker 2: a dress and getting all the supplies and doing all
- 21:06Speaker 2: that fun stuff. That's what I love.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, give us a shopping montage. Did you
- 21:11Speaker 1: notice they made some moores indoors?
- 21:13Speaker 2: I did?
- 21:15Speaker 1: Did you wonder? Why?
- 21:17Speaker 2: No? Because I have made some moores indoors too, Let
- 21:20Speaker 2: have I.
- 21:20Speaker 1: But it's typically like a fire pit situation, especially in
- 21:22Speaker 1: a Hallmark movie. They love a good fire pit situation. Unfortunately,
- 21:27Speaker 1: during this week, the weather was terrible in Vancouver, and
- 21:30Speaker 1: then we're not able to have their outdoor some more situation.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Terrible like what snow or cold or I'm guessing just
- 21:37Speaker 2: bad elements.
- 21:39Speaker 1: All I read was terrible, but I'm guessing it was
- 21:42Speaker 1: pretty cold. That answers that question, which also leads me
- 21:45Speaker 1: to believe that perhaps the weather is a factor and
- 21:48Speaker 1: why much of this movie takes place in one indoor space,
- 21:52Speaker 1: Like they didn't have an outdoor cocktail party, and they
- 21:54Speaker 1: didn't have them running into each other on the grounds
- 21:56Speaker 1: of the hotel. Everything's in the lobby.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Yeah, well, can we talk about that lobby for a second, Yeah,
- 22:03Speaker 2: to me, it looked like they were just in a
- 22:06Speaker 2: really big home, some sort of chalet or something, because
- 22:10Speaker 2: the lobby quote unquote was like always in front of
- 22:13Speaker 2: this like huge fireplace, right, and what I was very confused.
- 22:19Speaker 2: They showed like nick behind like cooking food behind like
- 22:23Speaker 2: a bar type. It looked like it looked like a
- 22:26Speaker 2: home kitchen, and there was like a regular refrigerator in
- 22:28Speaker 2: the background. And so am I to believe like there's
- 22:31Speaker 2: this weird little home kitchen in a lobby of a bar,
- 22:35Speaker 2: I mean lobby of a hotel. It just was bizarre
- 22:38Speaker 2: like this. When I watch these movies, I totally look
- 22:42Speaker 2: at the backgrounds and even if they have like the
- 22:45Speaker 2: scenes are really tight so you can't see what's going on.
- 22:48Speaker 2: We all know what was that movie from the Winter
- 22:50Speaker 2: movies that they it was a restaurant space that they
- 22:54Speaker 2: turned into a hotel or something, So it wouldn't surprise
- 22:59Speaker 2: me if this was not actually filmed at a hotel.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Agree, I did not actually see any information about where
- 23:07Speaker 1: that location was, but I agree that they took this
- 23:10Speaker 1: one big space. It's kind of like this open floor
- 23:12Speaker 1: plan house and they were like this is your kitchen,
- 23:14Speaker 1: bar space, and this is your cocktail hour space, and
- 23:17Speaker 1: this is your webing right space, all in one big space. Okay.
- 23:20Speaker 1: The hot Wing scene. Yeah, did you enjoy the hot
- 23:23Speaker 1: Wing scene? No?
- 23:25Speaker 2: I didn't really care for it. I don't like hot
- 23:27Speaker 2: Wings personally.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Neither do I. I did like that Carly kind of
- 23:32Speaker 1: owned Nick and Matt. But Julie Sherman Wolf has been
- 23:35Speaker 1: trying to get that scene into a movie for years,
- 23:38Speaker 1: and she was finally able to make it happen.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Well, I wonder if Julie likes hot Wings. She must
- 23:44Speaker 2: write she.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Must or she just like had that idea and she
- 23:47Speaker 1: was like, I'm gonna make it happen.
- 23:50Speaker 2: That's funny.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Okay. The tiny fork, uh huh? One I could relate
- 23:56Speaker 1: to that. I like to enjoy my dessert. I do not,
- 23:58Speaker 1: I like I would. Given an option, I would prefer
- 24:01Speaker 1: to take dessert home from a restaurant, have deserted home
- 24:04Speaker 1: so I can enjoy it slowly. I resonated with that.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Where does where does one get a tiny fork from?
- 24:11Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 24:12Speaker 2: We're not talking about like the salad fork, right, We're
- 24:16Speaker 2: talking it's a tiny fork, and actually that is Julie
- 24:20Speaker 2: Sherman Wolf's own personal quirk that she enjoys, and she
- 24:22Speaker 2: posted the photo of her own tiny Fork and she
- 24:24Speaker 2: like for dessert. Well, I will tell you that when
- 24:27Speaker 2: at the end of the movie, when they show up
- 24:29Speaker 2: at the Tiny Fork restaurant and they reveal, like that's
- 24:34Speaker 2: the name of it, I let out an audible ah
- 24:38Speaker 2: so sweet.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I like, coun't actually see that being a restaurant, Like,
- 24:43Speaker 1: that's a cute name for a restaurant.
- 24:45Speaker 2: I should have figured it out that that's what it
- 24:48Speaker 2: was going to be called, But I thought that was adorable.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Did we see did I just look away? How much
- 24:55Speaker 1: time passed in between her leaving and coming back to the.
- 24:58Speaker 2: I don't know if they showed like a three months Yeah, yeah,
- 25:01Speaker 2: I don't. I can't recall if they did or not.
- 25:05Speaker 1: We know time has passed because she goes home, she
- 25:07Speaker 1: has sketches, she creates this whole line. She comes back
- 25:10Speaker 1: for the launch of the line. I was just curious.
- 25:11Speaker 1: I mean, obviously he had to create this whole restaurant.
- 25:14Speaker 2: I know, how fast does that happen?
- 25:15Speaker 1: And that's all I have for Did you see that?
- 25:17Speaker 2: I have one or two? Okay? Did you notice, like
- 25:22Speaker 2: how much these actors had to talk with food in
- 25:24Speaker 2: their mouths. I mean, there's no way around it. You're
- 25:28Speaker 2: eating a ton of food in this movie, so I
- 25:30Speaker 2: guess there's no way around it. But like every single
- 25:33Speaker 2: time they're like covering their face like as they chew
- 25:37Speaker 2: or like, you know.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Julie had something to say about that too, and oh
- 25:40Speaker 1: did shed Talking with food in your mouth is never
- 25:43Speaker 1: not funny. So that was her feeling about that.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Oh okay, I also have one more and it's such
- 25:47Speaker 2: a tiny little note here, but she had asked for
- 25:51Speaker 2: when Nick was behind this kitchen bar in the hotel lobby,
- 25:55Speaker 2: She'd asked for like a sparkling water with cherries, which
- 25:58Speaker 2: I thought, ooh, that sounds the But he poured the
- 26:02Speaker 2: sparkling water from a pitcher instead of like a what
- 26:06Speaker 2: you would typically encounter at a you know, hotel bar
- 26:09Speaker 2: is like a you know, one of those like soda
- 26:12Speaker 2: machine guns or what you know.
- 26:13Speaker 1: What you're talking about, right, Yeah, I was like.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Why is there sparkling water in a picture? That is
- 26:17Speaker 2: so bizarre? And there was no flat There was no
- 26:20Speaker 2: ice in the drink either, which I thought was so
- 26:23Speaker 2: bizarre too. But I'm into the sparkling water and Martino
- 26:27Speaker 2: cherry thing. I may try that. That sounds delicious, doesn't it.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Yeah? I like that. I like it's summer drink now.
- 26:35Speaker 1: There were a lot of tweets during this movie that
- 26:38Speaker 1: were like, I would let Nick made me anything I'm
- 26:41Speaker 1: allergic to.
- 26:41Speaker 2: There were a lot of the I find him very
- 26:47Speaker 2: handsome and I haven't seen him in anything else, so
- 26:49Speaker 2: I really enjoyed him.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Agree, agree, all right, what's time for rating? Okay, Dock,
- 26:56Speaker 1: what would you like to rate this movie? Well, I,
- 26:59Speaker 1: like I said, it's a solid movie. I was really
- 27:02Speaker 1: looking forward to this movie because I love Julie Sherman Wolf.
- 27:05Speaker 1: I feel like she writes movies for me as a viewer,
- 27:09Speaker 1: like I feel seen when I watch these movies for
- 27:12Speaker 1: some reason. I don't know if it's just the line
- 27:14Speaker 1: she use or she's just very hip. I don't know.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Anyway, I was really looking forward to this movie. I
- 27:21Speaker 2: give this movie three stars. It was a solid movie.
- 27:24Speaker 1: This gets a three and a half stars for me,
- 27:26Speaker 1: Like I said, it ranks number two. I don't know
- 27:28Speaker 1: that I've given anything else at three and a half stars.
- 27:29Speaker 1: I have to go back and look. I think maybe
- 27:31Speaker 1: a three is my highest prior to as luck would
- 27:35Speaker 1: have it, which was a four star movie for me. Right,
- 27:37Speaker 1: I really really enjoyed this.
- 27:39Speaker 2: I liked it too, and I like that it's one
- 27:42Speaker 2: of those movies that can be played throughout the year.
- 27:47Speaker 2: It's not like holiday specific, and.
- 27:49Speaker 1: That's what I like too, especially since the entire thing
- 27:51Speaker 1: is inside. Will we be reviewing Hearts down Under next week?
- 27:54Speaker 2: Are we?
- 27:55Speaker 1: I'm asking?
- 27:57Speaker 2: I guess. I mean, first, thank Fall, I love Hey,
- 28:02Speaker 2: give me the Australian outback. I'm into that. I'm into
- 28:07Speaker 2: that Australian accent. I'm gonna have to rally for Sandy
- 28:11Speaker 2: Busby though.
- 28:13Speaker 1: All Right, we've just done a long trip down what's
- 28:16Speaker 1: coming from Hallmark? We do know that next is Heart's
- 28:19Speaker 1: down Under. We get a couple others stand alone Hallmark
- 28:23Speaker 1: originals before Summer Nights launch us in June. Apparently we're
