- 0:22SPEAKER_00: As a writer, as a creative person, one of the hardest things to swallow is getting ignored.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: You can work for months or even years on a book, and then you put the book out into the world only to have just a few people notice it.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Well, this kind of thing isn't unique to writers.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: Anyone trying to build something will face this hurdle.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: So how do you get people to sit up and take notice?
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: How do you draw attention to the thing that you have created?
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Well, the comedian Steve Martin famously said, be so good they can't ignore you.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: The simplicity of this statement is really stunning because those seven words contain the secret of getting noticed, of building an audience, and of all the other things that ultimately you want as a writer.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: So here are four simple questions I want to ask you.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Number one, are you committed enough to your writing craft to keep going until people notice you?
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: Number two, are you willing to put in the early mornings or late nights?
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Number three, are you willing to keep rewriting and editing until it's as good as you can possibly make it?
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: And number four, are you willing to try different things even though there's no guarantee that it's going to work?
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Well, the answer to those questions will determine whether people will ignore you or eventually whether they will sit up and take notice.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Because this willingness to do the work, not necessarily your level of talent, is what makes all the difference.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: You can be the most talented person in the world, but if you're not willing to do the work and to commit to being a writer over the long haul, it's going to be really difficult.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: So here's your challenge.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Today, commit to being so good they can't ignore you.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: Well, if you're truly committed to being more excellent as an author, one of the best ways to do that is by creating a course from your book.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: My friend Lucas Marino has just published a book to help you do exactly that.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: It's called Monetize Your Book with a Course: Your Guide to Quickly Creating a Profitable and Impactful Course from Your Book.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: You know, most authors stop when they have written, published, and marketed their book, but there's one final step, and that is creating a course to help your reader go further and engage with you, the expert, at a much deeper level.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: With his doctorate in engineering, Lucas Marino has made a career out of being a serial entrepreneur.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: He helps businesses and authors build training courses that provide an additional stream of income.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: He is also the host of the Conversations with Course Creators podcast.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: In monetize your book with the course, you'll learn how to determine your ideal student and where to find them, develop your curriculum, implement a learning management system, market the course, and much more, even if you've never taught a course before.
