- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey guys, hey Donald, welcome back. You know what I realized,
- 0:03Speaker 1: what's that Donald phaseon? I am no longer a priority
- 0:07Speaker 1: in my own house. Listen to how crazy that sounds.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I am no longer a priority in my own What
- 0:16Speaker 1: does that mean my wife and kids? I really truly
- 0:19Speaker 1: believe that they feel like they could find what I
- 0:25Speaker 1: do in someone else. That's particularly frustrating because you're paying
- 0:30Speaker 1: for everyone's existence and they're all like, get out of here. Um,
- 0:36Speaker 1: it's just you know, and I get that. And my
- 0:39Speaker 1: wife would be like my wife, and I got to
- 0:42Speaker 1: give it to our one hundred percent. She'd be like,
- 0:46Speaker 1: shut the fuck up. Try walking a mile in my
- 0:50Speaker 1: shoes right now. Right. She does put up with your
- 0:54Speaker 1: antics a lot. She's very patient. It's not antics, it's
- 0:56Speaker 1: not antics. I think she just understands who I am
- 1:00Speaker 1: and what I am and she's like, I can live
- 1:03Speaker 1: with that, you know what I mean? Yeah, but she
- 1:07Speaker 1: does put up you know you you have your flaws.
- 1:11Speaker 1: We all do. So. I flag I feel like I
- 1:14Speaker 1: feel like I feel like and I feel like I'm
- 1:17Speaker 1: a little bit different than a lot of people. I
- 1:20Speaker 1: feel like you, I feel like you're a little bit
- 1:21Speaker 1: different I feel like we're all different in our own ways. Sure,
- 1:27Speaker 1: and I feel like she which my different she can
- 1:30Speaker 1: put up with. She's alright with. It's enough. It's like
- 1:33Speaker 1: he's not going, he's not going so far over that.
- 1:37Speaker 1: You know, she sees the positives. You're a good man,
- 1:39Speaker 1: You're a good dad. You you you, you provide for
- 1:43Speaker 1: the whole family. You make her laugh even though you
- 1:46Speaker 1: demand a lot of sex. I'm sure it's good. I'm
- 1:49Speaker 1: sure you know how to thrust. Oh god, you know
- 1:55Speaker 1: what's important? You know it's important for thrusting. Speaking of thrusting, Yeah,
- 1:59Speaker 1: what exercise is important for threat Definitely. If you get
- 2:06Speaker 1: your cardio up, you can go longer and harder and
- 2:08Speaker 1: and don't have to take breaks for what. That's the thing.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Blood circulates. Take it from a freake doctor. Blood circulates better.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Right when you now that you're back on the peloton.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Now that you're back on the peloton, do you find
- 2:22Speaker 1: that your cardio for sex has has gone up? Your
- 2:25Speaker 1: heart you can you can maintain your heart rate longer. Um,
- 2:29Speaker 1: you know, like I said, I got my heart rate
- 2:32Speaker 1: up to one eighty something and stayed in that thing
- 2:35Speaker 1: for like three minutes. If I could do that with sex. Yeah,
- 2:40Speaker 1: imagine that three minutes out? Yeah, oh my god? Three minutes? Oh, Nana,
- 2:48Speaker 1: what's your name? Oh, Nana? What'sn't name? What's your name?
- 2:52Speaker 1: What's your name? What's name on? Nana? What's your name Onnana?
- 2:56Speaker 1: What's name? Nana? Three minutes? Are you kidding me? What's
- 2:59Speaker 1: my lad? Oh? Man? What's going on? Man? What's going on? Listeners? Hi,
- 3:12Speaker 1: thanks for joining us. I was waiting for them to
- 3:16Speaker 1: say something back. Just high listeners. Hey, we got Randall
- 3:20Speaker 1: Winston on the show today. Should we just invite him
- 3:22Speaker 1: in off the bat because he's a he's a a
- 3:25Speaker 1: what is he? He's a crew member, he's a producer,
- 3:28Speaker 1: he gets early invitations. You don't want to just go
- 3:31Speaker 1: into the five six seven eight, No, we got more
- 3:33Speaker 1: to talked about with Randall. Okay, London, let's bring it
- 3:37Speaker 1: five six seventy. Maybe we give it to Randall. We
- 3:39Speaker 1: don't know what's going to happen. You never know. Okay, Well,
- 3:41Speaker 1: let's hold off on that five six seven Yeah, Daniel,
- 3:44Speaker 1: see we can we can say it with dandel We
- 3:47Speaker 1: can say it and trust that you know that when
- 3:50Speaker 1: it's time, it's it's only it's only Bill that automatically
- 3:53Speaker 1: triggers the music when he says it is Randall here,
- 3:56Speaker 1: I'm here, I'm here. Oh there looking good? He don't age,
- 4:06Speaker 1: you do. We got Rando Winston, we got random weansdin,
- 4:11Speaker 1: we got Random Winston. We're in Uh, you get so
- 4:16Speaker 1: fucking busy. But he's on our podcast. We got Random Weston.
- 4:22Speaker 1: We're in love. Rand you do not age. You look
- 4:28Speaker 1: like Benjamin Buttons. You're going backwards. You are you are
- 4:32Speaker 1: kind sir, now a lot of you are just to
- 4:34Speaker 1: refresh your memory. Randall is our one of our producers,
- 4:37Speaker 1: our line producer on the show. And if you're thinking,
- 4:40Speaker 1: you may have. But he also um played Leonard the
- 4:43Speaker 1: security guard. He also played He also played Death. Now, Randall,
- 4:49Speaker 1: I don't want the listeners to think, why did they
- 4:52Speaker 1: give Leonard the security Guard an episode to direct? That's
- 4:55Speaker 1: not what happened. Randall was the producer of the show
- 5:00Speaker 1: and uh and knew it better than anyone. And Randall,
- 5:03Speaker 1: was this your very first time directing an episode of television?
- 5:06Speaker 1: I know you've gone on to direct lots of television,
- 5:08Speaker 1: but was this your first one? Yes? And actually that
- 5:10Speaker 1: was my first prime time television show. I was. I
- 5:14Speaker 1: was trying to remember UM, and then when I rewatched it,
- 5:19Speaker 1: it was it was a big deal. It was a
- 5:21Speaker 1: lot of fun, and it must be fun to look
- 5:23Speaker 1: back on it now. I mean, it's fun just to
- 5:25Speaker 1: look back on all of them now. But when you
- 5:26Speaker 1: especially when you're looking back at the very first episode
- 5:29Speaker 1: of TV you ever directed, it must be cool. It's huge,
- 5:32Speaker 1: but you know it's and it's also it's such a
- 5:34Speaker 1: reminder of UM. I mean, obviously all things Scrubs being great,
- 5:38Speaker 1: and how how amazing everybody there was, and how collaborative
- 5:44Speaker 1: that it is. Just to be in that position. I mean,
- 5:47Speaker 1: you guys were great and generous, you know, as as
- 5:50Speaker 1: you are to each other as actors, but then to
- 5:52Speaker 1: me as a director and everybody, every department head. I
- 5:55Speaker 1: felt like I had my back, you know. I mean,
- 5:57Speaker 1: there's yeah, I would about to say, dude, shit out
- 6:00Speaker 1: of everybody might be one of the most prepared people
- 6:03Speaker 1: too direct at that moment in time, you know what
- 6:05Speaker 1: I mean, all the experience that you had from being
- 6:08Speaker 1: with Bill in New York, from you know, uh, coming
- 6:11Speaker 1: to coming to LA and doing other shows, and and
- 6:14Speaker 1: and and and at this point you knew the ins
- 6:17Speaker 1: and out of it all. You had sat on set
- 6:20Speaker 1: for hours, over ten thousand hours easily. You you you
- 6:25Speaker 1: had observed, so it was obvious. And also he's so
- 6:28Speaker 1: you were so beloved by the crew, so you know
- 6:31Speaker 1: you saying the crew is rooting for you as an understatement.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I mean, everybody loved you so much. I mean, it's
- 6:36Speaker 1: a season three. We've all partied together by trying to
- 6:42Speaker 1: remind us, just to remind the fans who don't know
- 6:45Speaker 1: the business. The line producer is sort of the nuts
- 6:47Speaker 1: and bolts producer. They're dealing with the crew, They're looking
- 6:50Speaker 1: at spreadsheets. They're the one concerned about the money and
- 6:53Speaker 1: how much is going in coming out. They're the ones
- 6:56Speaker 1: that are really um, you know, on the front lines
- 6:58Speaker 1: with the crew. And a lot of times the crew
- 7:00Speaker 1: doesn't like the line producer because their job is to
- 7:02Speaker 1: say no, you can't have that um But Randall managed
- 7:05Speaker 1: to do it in such a way that everybody loved him.
- 7:09Speaker 1: I love that you say it, say it that way,
- 7:11Speaker 1: and I think part of part of it is again
- 7:13Speaker 1: it goes back to the collaboration. Like I never I
- 7:16Speaker 1: never have an agenda to say no. I have an
- 7:18Speaker 1: agenda to say, what's the best thing for the show,
- 7:21Speaker 1: and you know, to the writers, like what what supports
- 7:24Speaker 1: the funniest moments, like let's get the most we can
- 7:27Speaker 1: into the box that we have to fit it into.
- 7:29Speaker 1: My favorite kind of line. Producer never says no off
- 7:32Speaker 1: the bat. They go, okay, um, that's a big ask.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Let me see what we can do. And then and
- 7:40Speaker 1: then they go like, okay, you can have that if
- 7:42Speaker 1: you give up this, Like if you shoot an eight
- 7:43Speaker 1: hour day, you can have the giant techno crane. You
- 7:47Speaker 1: know that there's a negotiation. Yeah, a total Chinese menu.
- 7:51Speaker 1: But in the role of producer and when you were directing,
- 7:55Speaker 1: I always got a kick out of before the script
- 7:58Speaker 1: was out came the ask. Yeah, well, because I love
- 8:01Speaker 1: camera toys and gadgets and all the expensive ship so
- 8:03Speaker 1: I wouldn't when I was directing, I wouldn't have even
- 8:06Speaker 1: read the script. I'd be like, randall, we need a
- 8:07Speaker 1: fifty foot techno crane. Um, we're definitely gonna need this.
- 8:10Speaker 1: We're gonna need that, Like I just like I just
- 8:13Speaker 1: was pre ordering all my gadgets for the show. Even
- 8:16Speaker 1: if everything was in the hospital. You would figure out
- 8:19Speaker 1: a way to get a crane involved where it would
- 8:21Speaker 1: be like, Okay, well let's start at the front door
- 8:24Speaker 1: and then I'm gonna crane up from the front door
- 8:27Speaker 1: to the second wind floor wind. But you know what,
- 8:30Speaker 1: but to your credit, you know, it made some for
- 8:34Speaker 1: some cool shit. Yeah. I mean, I love I love cinematography,
- 8:37Speaker 1: and I love it's particularly in Scrubs. You know, the
- 8:40Speaker 1: camera was a character. We always said that the way
- 8:42Speaker 1: the camera moved was a character in the show. So
- 8:44Speaker 1: for me, it was like, oh, I want to give
- 8:45Speaker 1: that character a leading part in my episodes because I
- 8:48Speaker 1: love cool shots. I love going, oh what if we
- 8:51Speaker 1: you know, the obvious way is to shoot these two people,
- 8:54Speaker 1: you know, at the railing talking snore, what's what's what's it?
- 8:58Speaker 1: You know, obviously some moments need to be simple and static.
- 9:01Speaker 1: But to me, I'm always especially in the language of
- 9:03Speaker 1: of of Scrubs and the way the cameras, I was
- 9:05Speaker 1: always like, Okay, what's the out of the box cool
- 9:08Speaker 1: way to shoot this moment? You know, well, I think
- 9:11Speaker 1: I think there's there's actually a great example of maybe
- 9:14Speaker 1: maybe I'm inspired. I was inspired by all that you're saying.
- 9:18Speaker 1: As far as making the character and trying to use
- 9:22Speaker 1: the visual language in this episode, but I had to
- 9:25Speaker 1: go low tech and it's it's that. It's that last
- 9:29Speaker 1: scene where we where we're at the rehearsal dinner and
- 9:32Speaker 1: I don't remember. I don't know if you remember, but
- 9:34Speaker 1: it was late and it was cold, and everybody not
- 9:37Speaker 1: everybody had a line, nobody wanted to be there, and
- 9:39Speaker 1: we had to do this stunt and the set was
- 9:42Speaker 1: so small, but I wanted this big opening shot and
- 9:44Speaker 1: the grips built like a ramp in the set for
- 9:49Speaker 1: the steady camera to walk down the ramp and around
- 9:52Speaker 1: the table, you know, so that we could have this. Uh.
- 9:55Speaker 1: I don't remember the saying. I do remember that I
- 9:57Speaker 1: do right, So we should count in? Because Donald say
- 10:00Speaker 1: should we count in before Randall? And I said no,
- 10:02Speaker 1: I want Randall to count in. And now we've lost
- 10:05Speaker 1: track and we have this is all prologue. We haven't
- 10:07Speaker 1: sung our theme song, Randall, will you count us in?
- 10:10Speaker 1: With a five, six, seven eight? To lead us stories
- 10:17Speaker 1: about show? We made about a bunch of docs and
- 10:22Speaker 1: nurses said, he's the stories never so get around you here,
- 10:32Speaker 1: yatoo around here. I can't talk about this yet on
- 10:41Speaker 1: the show. But so we'll cut it out. But I'm
- 10:43Speaker 1: gonna I think I'm gonna work with um one of
- 10:45Speaker 1: your buddies. Awesome which one I got offered? The I
- 10:50Speaker 1: didn't tell you guys this. We have to cut it
- 10:52Speaker 1: out of the show, Daniel, But um I got offered
- 10:54Speaker 1: the Uh yeah, you gonna cut out all of that
- 11:01Speaker 1: and you holy shit, and it's computers. Yo, that's so
- 11:12Speaker 1: much man, I'm so excited. Holy shit, that happened. Awesome
- 11:20Speaker 1: there anyway, that's excited. Wow. Anyway, I don't know how
- 11:28Speaker 1: you're gonna tell that story, Daniel, without you can. Probably
- 11:31Speaker 1: it's gonna be all this. It's gonna be like a
- 11:34Speaker 1: Snoop Dogg record and then nineties anyway, because because that
- 11:44Speaker 1: was all beeped, we'll just say that I got a
- 11:46Speaker 1: really cool role and I'm excited about and we'll tell
- 11:49Speaker 1: you more about it once it's announced. And it's six
- 11:54Speaker 1: degrees of Randall Winston because he knows one of the
- 11:57Speaker 1: key players. Um So, Randall, when you're directing, do you
- 12:02Speaker 1: direct as Randall Winston or do you direct as Leonard
- 12:05Speaker 1: the security Guard. I like to live as much of
- 12:08Speaker 1: my life as Leonard the security guard because I possibly care. Um.
- 12:13Speaker 1: The best part is that I can take the hook
- 12:14Speaker 1: off and still Yes, very lucky that you can take
- 12:18Speaker 1: But you know, I miss I missed the fro. I
- 12:21Speaker 1: missed my fro. Could you ever grow an afro like
- 12:25Speaker 1: back in the day when I was a child? Yes,
- 12:27Speaker 1: of course, I mean, man, you know, but it was
- 12:30Speaker 1: a big deal. No, I didn't know if I didn't
- 12:32Speaker 1: know if it was like, um, like your beard, Donald,
- 12:34Speaker 1: how it comes in patchy like like dick man. Listen,
- 12:37Speaker 1: this is this is what happens with puberty when you're
- 12:40Speaker 1: a child. Usually for the most part, you have a
- 12:45Speaker 1: full head of hair. It's as you gain pubescence. Is
- 12:50Speaker 1: that the right way to say it? I don't know.
- 12:52Speaker 1: As you go, I like that it sounds good though, right,
- 13:00Speaker 1: sound good as you gain pubescence. You're telling me something
- 13:04Speaker 1: I didn't know. You're saying that African American hair doesn't
- 13:08Speaker 1: grow his thick post puberty. No, I'm saying for all
- 13:12Speaker 1: human beings. It has nothing to do with African Americans.
- 13:15Speaker 1: We were talking about afros. Why are you taking this
- 13:18Speaker 1: because everybody motherfucking hair grows when they're fucking before they
- 13:21Speaker 1: go through puberty. Zac before they start losing the ship. Zach,
- 13:24Speaker 1: what are you man? But you're saying, man there, come
- 13:28Speaker 1: come on, bro, come on buddy, you're saying, you're saying, buddy,
- 13:33Speaker 1: when what does puberty have to do with it? Ass face?
- 13:36Speaker 1: You know what it has to do with what you
- 13:38Speaker 1: go through, Pubert. That's when you start to get the hair.
- 13:40Speaker 1: That's when all things start to grow. And when the
- 13:42Speaker 1: things start to grow, guess what happens after that? It
- 13:45Speaker 1: starts to fall out. If that's your future, if that's
- 13:48Speaker 1: how it is for you in the future, that's how
- 13:50Speaker 1: it is. Just because you have a full head of
- 13:51Speaker 1: hair doesn't mean you need to all of a sudden
- 13:53Speaker 1: start discriminating against us with less of Okay, that's you
- 13:58Speaker 1: don't need to start doing that, Okay, Randall help. I
- 14:00Speaker 1: just I just thought my son his first pick because
- 14:04Speaker 1: you know, during COVID his hair is spectacular, but it
- 14:08Speaker 1: is a little wild. So I'm trying to you know,
- 14:10Speaker 1: because when I when I was his age, I you know,
- 14:14Speaker 1: I had to pick. I had the pick that you
- 14:15Speaker 1: put in here picked up and then it doesn't have
- 14:19Speaker 1: the fist, and then and then and then my mother,
- 14:22Speaker 1: you know, made us carry a silk scarf, so once
- 14:25Speaker 1: you picked it out, you could get it perfectly round
- 14:27Speaker 1: and you know, whip that thing off. And what do
- 14:31Speaker 1: you do with the silk scarf that was so that
- 14:34Speaker 1: you didn't have any errant curls? It would when you
- 14:37Speaker 1: padded a silk scarf on. It got to that perfect
- 14:40Speaker 1: Jackson you got, Mike, so you'd have the perfect microphone
- 14:43Speaker 1: dome exactly. Well, let's jump into the episode. Donald, Do
- 14:49Speaker 1: you have your recap? Were you able to do that today? Oh? Boy,
- 14:54Speaker 1: I did do it. But this I'm gonna tell you
- 14:56Speaker 1: something right now, at this point the show is now
- 14:59Speaker 1: the same every episode, many every show, it's the same
- 15:04Speaker 1: few things. You know what I mean? What do you mean?
- 15:07Speaker 1: Why are you distinct scrubs? I'm not distin scrubs. This
- 15:10Speaker 1: is how This is how I guess. This is how
- 15:11Speaker 1: storytelling becomes. You find different ways to tell the same
- 15:14Speaker 1: story over not the same story. I should say the
- 15:17Speaker 1: same message over to say the same message over and
- 15:21Speaker 1: over again, you know what I mean? Like in this one,
- 15:25Speaker 1: I'll start with the recap. Hold on, can I get
- 15:27Speaker 1: my timer ready? Come on? Man, there is at least
- 15:29Speaker 1: one person on earth who cares about the time of it.
- 15:32Speaker 1: It's always either love. I'm just saying this, It's always
- 15:34Speaker 1: either love. It has something to do with relationship, it
- 15:38Speaker 1: has something to do with work. There's like a top
- 15:40Speaker 1: ten of things that we are so far up to
- 15:44Speaker 1: season three that we always touch on when it comes
- 15:47Speaker 1: to Scrubs. You can count on there's going to be
- 15:48Speaker 1: a death episode. You can count on these things in
- 15:51Speaker 1: the twenty two to twenty four episodes. It took you
- 15:53Speaker 1: this much time to realize that Scrubs follows a basic formula. Well, no,
- 15:57Speaker 1: it's not that it follows a basic You're an so dude,
- 16:00Speaker 1: and and I guess this is the perfect There's gonna
- 16:03Speaker 1: be a moment where you laugh, there's gonna be a
- 16:05Speaker 1: moment when you crys song at the end, and yes,
- 16:08Speaker 1: this is the but this is the basic form This
- 16:10Speaker 1: is the basic reason for a recap. Like you know,
- 16:13Speaker 1: it's like, how do you let's get into it. Let's
- 16:16Speaker 1: all right, here, we go on your marks, you let go.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Elliot and JD are back together for the time being,
- 16:21Speaker 1: Carlin Turt's family are in town for their wedding vows.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Cox and the Janitor go to war and Kelso loves
- 16:28Speaker 1: clicky top ends. Where and how you find your happiness
- 16:32Speaker 1: is up to you. Don't fear it when you feel
- 16:36Speaker 1: it coming your way, and don't confuse it with comfort.
- 16:40Speaker 1: It's amazing to be overwhelmed with happiness. It's amazing to
- 16:44Speaker 1: have your tank filled to the max with joy. But
- 16:48Speaker 1: the most amazing part of the pursuit is when you
- 16:50Speaker 1: find someone that makes it so that you don't have
- 16:53Speaker 1: to generate your own happiness because they bring the happiness
- 16:56Speaker 1: to you. Reach reach. It's true, though, what's going on
- 17:01Speaker 1: with Turk here? He can't there's so this this is
- 17:04Speaker 1: the thing this episode's about. I can't articulately why he's
- 17:08Speaker 1: he's he's so in love. Yeah, and j D can't
- 17:12Speaker 1: understand why. You know, everything's perfect, everything's right. He's in happy,
- 17:18Speaker 1: He's found his happiness, but he can't enjoy it. He's
- 17:22Speaker 1: possible articulate. Turk can't articulate it. He Cox is confused
- 17:28Speaker 1: by you know, what is happiness and what is you know?
- 17:31Speaker 1: What is? What is? You know? His whole conflict in
- 17:34Speaker 1: his relationship. You know if that's you know, it's a
- 17:37Speaker 1: it's a conflict. But that conflict is what makes him happy.
- 17:41Speaker 1: And the same thing with the and the same thing
- 17:42Speaker 1: with the janitor. The janitor just lost had a big
- 17:45Speaker 1: l to somebody who's only been working at the hospital
- 17:48Speaker 1: for freaking two months, if anything, you know what I mean,
- 17:52Speaker 1: for two months? Yeah, and he's like, I need to win.
- 17:56Speaker 1: What can I do to win? Now? Like everybody right,
- 18:00Speaker 1: everybody's in pursuit. Everybody's in the pursuit of it. And
- 18:03Speaker 1: kels Kelso's is you know, where's my I need a
- 18:06Speaker 1: clickie top, man, A clickie top would make me so happy.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Where What are you gonna say, randall Um? I was Donald?
- 18:13Speaker 1: Donald caught up with it? I was gonna say that
- 18:15Speaker 1: the uh, the joy and the honesty of Cox's relationship
- 18:19Speaker 1: is what he's wrestling like, you know. So, I guess
- 18:22Speaker 1: in some ways, all the stories are about people being
- 18:26Speaker 1: honest with themselves about what it is. I felt so
- 18:28Speaker 1: frustrated with j D in this episode. It's weird watching
- 18:31Speaker 1: yourself as a character this many years later. I'm like, Oh,
- 18:34Speaker 1: this fucking guy, Like, it's so it's so I feel
- 18:38Speaker 1: so bad for Elliott. I mean, ah, yeah, I mean
- 18:41Speaker 1: it's just so frustrating. I can't believe watching this episode
- 18:45Speaker 1: that she ever fucking gave him another chance. I mean,
- 18:47Speaker 1: it's so fucked up, you do. I remember thinking that
- 18:52Speaker 1: at the time, like, you know, like stop fucking with
- 18:56Speaker 1: her j D. Yeah, why would she ever if this
- 19:00Speaker 1: were real life? I mean, granted, people give the people
- 19:03Speaker 1: they love a zillion chances. I know that, but Stockholm, Yeah,
- 19:07Speaker 1: it's just it's just I'm watching this going and knowing
- 19:10Speaker 1: that we eventually end up together. Sorry spoilers, but I'm like,
- 19:13Speaker 1: what the fuck? Why? Yeah, that one person, that's the
- 19:18Speaker 1: one person that's listening but has never watched the show.
- 19:22Speaker 1: I'm sure there's people listening that I think. I know
- 19:23Speaker 1: for a fact there's people that listen to this that
- 19:25Speaker 1: have never watched Scrubs. They just like us shooting the ship.
- 19:27Speaker 1: But what if they're listening and watching along and you
- 19:30Speaker 1: just well anyway, sorry, but anyway, I genuinely got upset.
- 19:35Speaker 1: I'm like, why the fuck would she ever go back
- 19:38Speaker 1: with this guy? He's such an asshole. I mean, he
- 19:40Speaker 1: really broke up this great thing she had with Scott Foley.
- 19:44Speaker 1: For God's sakes, look at him and he's a good
- 19:48Speaker 1: man and he loves her, and they're moving in and
- 19:50Speaker 1: he's he's just he's not neurotic and crazy like JD.
- 19:54Speaker 1: He just has he's a marine biologist, and he's treats
- 19:58Speaker 1: her amazingly. And Jad fucking blows the whole thing up.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Then at the engagement party for at the what is
- 20:05Speaker 1: it the pre dinner, what do you call it? It's
- 20:08Speaker 1: the wedding dinner, dinner, reearsal dinner, rehearsal dinner. Yeah, it's
- 20:14Speaker 1: funny you call hearsal dinner because you don't always rehearse.
- 20:16Speaker 1: It's just the thing. No, well, you go over there, Yeah,
- 20:19Speaker 1: you go over the Oh yeah, sorry, Randal. You've married
- 20:21Speaker 1: a lot of people, so you know I married Donald.
- 20:24Speaker 1: I know, back to your house. I know, I'm looking.
- 20:28Speaker 1: I'm looking right now at the spot where I was
- 20:30Speaker 1: papped with the what's her name, Jessica Simpson bam um Randall.
- 20:38Speaker 1: I I just what are your thoughts on that? Because
- 20:40Speaker 1: I just I'm watching this. I'm going I understand, you know,
- 20:43Speaker 1: the whole it's a TV show, it has to have drama.
- 20:46Speaker 1: But I but I'm but I'm like, this is this
- 20:48Speaker 1: is so fucked up. But it's also a big episode also,
- 20:52Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like you literally have a
- 20:55Speaker 1: you know, the episode before the fin The finale is
- 21:00Speaker 1: always the one where you have to set up and
- 21:02Speaker 1: deliver that message before it goes into it. So it's
- 21:06Speaker 1: like you were given a juggernaut. Dude. Oh yeah, I mean,
- 21:10Speaker 1: I mean it does it sets the table for the
- 21:12Speaker 1: season finale. It was, it was. It was a big
- 21:16Speaker 1: deal if you were asking me story wise, Zach about
- 21:19Speaker 1: I did feel I felt very bad for for for
- 21:23Speaker 1: Elliott and wondered what the hell JD was doing. But
- 21:26Speaker 1: there's also there's a big part of the episode where
- 21:28Speaker 1: it's it sort of takes a back seat where you're
- 21:30Speaker 1: being very conciliatory and and uh and just letting her
- 21:34Speaker 1: have her win. So you know, you get to you
- 21:36Speaker 1: get to enjoy the janitor um, the Janitor and Cox
- 21:41Speaker 1: fighting and you know, and and Donald fighting with with
- 21:45Speaker 1: his future brother in law, Freddie Rodriguez. I think who
- 21:49Speaker 1: was on six feet he was, Yeah, it was. It
- 21:51Speaker 1: was fun to have him on the show. Mark Um
- 21:54Speaker 1: the the well. The episode opens with a couple of
- 21:59Speaker 1: my favorite things, which is the arrival of the Janitors.
- 22:02Speaker 1: You know that awesome van when you see everybody come out,
- 22:05Speaker 1: there's uh my my namesake, uh randall Um played by
- 22:11Speaker 1: Martin Martin, who just beat the janitor. And I think
- 22:16Speaker 1: the when the when the brother in law pulls up
- 22:19Speaker 1: in that farm truck with the sheep. Why it wasn't
- 22:23Speaker 1: a farm truck first of all with only one sheep,
- 22:26Speaker 1: like it was a goat herder who had only one sheep.
- 22:29Speaker 1: That's because the line producer Randall told the director Randall
- 22:32Speaker 1: he could only have one sheep. It was. It was
- 22:35Speaker 1: constantly sensitive, clearly and the but the sheep, I'm gonna
- 22:40Speaker 1: tell you, was on cue every time, every time. At
- 22:47Speaker 1: the same time I was, I was in awe of
- 22:49Speaker 1: the of the sheet. Marcos could freaking I'm just trying
- 22:56Speaker 1: to follow what happened here. Marco was at the airport
- 22:59Speaker 1: and Turk didn't pick him up, and so he flagged
- 23:01Speaker 1: down a farmer. I don't understand what happened at the
- 23:04Speaker 1: at Lax or whatever we're supposed to be. I don't
- 23:06Speaker 1: under see what happened at the airport. We'll see that.
- 23:07Speaker 1: That's that's a little known fact that in Santa Frangelos
- 23:10Speaker 1: um near a farm. You know, it's it's out. Maybe
- 23:15Speaker 1: Marcos started walking somebody and someone felt bad for him.
- 23:20Speaker 1: I don't know, but they wouldn't let him ride in
- 23:22Speaker 1: the in the cab. They were like, yeah, now I
- 23:26Speaker 1: want to say something. Before we even get to the
- 23:28Speaker 1: arrival of the Janitors, which is hilarious, And the very
- 23:31Speaker 1: first time we see the Janitor's bizarre van, we have
- 23:34Speaker 1: an appearance by the souper Nazi from Seinfeld. Now, Randall,
- 23:38Speaker 1: how did this come about? How low is the soup
- 23:40Speaker 1: Nazi tera Read's new love interests? And like so many
- 23:45Speaker 1: things in Scrubs, it was just like, I think a
- 23:49Speaker 1: fever dream. It was like they just wanted to have
- 23:51Speaker 1: the soup Nazi on the show. And you know, the
- 23:56Speaker 1: other thing that I think is great about the beginning
- 23:58Speaker 1: of the show is we're in season three and we
- 24:01Speaker 1: are you, in particular, masters of micro stunts, like how
- 24:05Speaker 1: many times do you fall or jump out of bed
- 24:09Speaker 1: between you know, in the cold open, you toss Elliott
- 24:13Speaker 1: and then you leap out of bed and then when
- 24:14Speaker 1: you're coming back and trying to do the clothes and
- 24:16Speaker 1: fall behind the carriage. It's a very funny sequence part
- 24:19Speaker 1: of it. For those of you don't remember, Elliot's a
- 24:21Speaker 1: very deep sleeper and JD is like man handling her
- 24:24Speaker 1: around because he wants to go ask his ex Danny
- 24:26Speaker 1: some questions before nine am when Elliot's alarm goes off.
- 24:30Speaker 1: So the physical comedy with Sarah was really funny. She
- 24:33Speaker 1: she was like just she just not wake up no
- 24:35Speaker 1: matter what. Even after I smack her ass, She's just
- 24:37Speaker 1: snoring and getting I'm sorry I forgot his name. Souper
- 24:44Speaker 1: Nazi on the show. Was it's he didn't want to
- 24:50Speaker 1: do it. Really, Yeah, nobody ever wants to do it,
- 24:53Speaker 1: that's the crazy. But he doesn't want to do He
- 24:56Speaker 1: doesn't want to say his catchphrase. I'm sure it's like
- 24:58Speaker 1: from Good Times. He doesn't, you know, you know, say
- 25:01Speaker 1: Dyna Mine. Well, Jaj didn't want to do it. More money,
- 25:05Speaker 1: it cost more money, but it was I remember it
- 25:07Speaker 1: was more money. Uh. And I think we had the
- 25:11Speaker 1: same thing with Gunther from like anyway. So uh so
- 25:16Speaker 1: we got we got one, we got one, no suit
- 25:18Speaker 1: for you and it's it's baked into the scene because
- 25:21Speaker 1: you trick him at the end to oh, but he
- 25:24Speaker 1: really didn't want to say it. Uh, he really didn't
- 25:27Speaker 1: want to say it. And then and then I and
- 25:28Speaker 1: then but he was in a couple of episodes if
- 25:31Speaker 1: remember correctly. Yeah, I think we had him back and
- 25:34Speaker 1: that might have been part of it. Oh, I don't know.
- 25:36Speaker 1: It said, you know, this is a very interesting thing
- 25:39Speaker 1: because we had something. His name is Larry. His name
- 25:41Speaker 1: is Larry Thomas. Sorry Larry. This happened later on UH
- 25:46Speaker 1: again and it didn't work out, but it turned into
- 25:49Speaker 1: a very funny segment. And shout out to the brother
- 25:52Speaker 1: that played old you know what I mean, shout out
- 25:56Speaker 1: to the brother that played old MC. Because we wanted
- 25:59Speaker 1: young M to come in and do it. A young
- 26:01Speaker 1: MC was too proud to come in and play himself
- 26:04Speaker 1: and say bust a move. He would not do it.
- 26:07Speaker 1: And I mean I I in producer mode and pulled
- 26:11Speaker 1: out all my tricks because I have There were there
- 26:13Speaker 1: were a few people across the ears that I didn't
- 26:16Speaker 1: want to do something and that you know. Ronald Randal,
- 26:21Speaker 1: speaking of cameos Scrubs, Wicky, claims that you said that
- 26:27Speaker 1: Billy Crystal donated the clip from when Harry met Sally
- 26:30Speaker 1: because he was a Scrubs fan. That's true, that's good
- 26:35Speaker 1: with Yes, you know, if I did I do, I
- 26:39Speaker 1: did ran into I ran into Billy Crystal ones and
- 26:41Speaker 1: he seemed to be a fan of the show. I
- 26:45Speaker 1: don't know if this little anecdote is true or not
- 26:48Speaker 1: on Scrubs Wicky, but that sounds I mean, it sounds
- 26:51Speaker 1: about right. I was trying to I was actually trying
- 26:53Speaker 1: to remember we had the clip because I had I
- 26:59Speaker 1: had studied up on my Billy Crystal trivia. Um, you
- 27:04Speaker 1: know how we got into the business and when it
- 27:06Speaker 1: was a kid least to quarters to his head and
- 27:08Speaker 1: like you know, it's usually having some personal knowledge on
- 27:13Speaker 1: the way in was helpful. Yeah. Um, well, that's one
- 27:17Speaker 1: of the best movies ever still to this day. Man,
- 27:20Speaker 1: have you watched it recently anyone? It's still so freaking good, Joel.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Every year for New Year's it's the best New Year's movie,
- 27:30Speaker 1: you know what's from a lot of people are watching
- 27:32Speaker 1: h end Game for New Year's. But yeah, when Harry
- 27:35Speaker 1: mtsally works too, Now that you're saying that it is
- 27:38Speaker 1: it is kind of funny that in the episode, you know,
- 27:42Speaker 1: we see the scene and then that's the toast that
- 27:45Speaker 1: gets you busted in the end. Because when I'm watching
- 27:49Speaker 1: the episode, and maybe this happens to people all the
- 27:52Speaker 1: time during scripts, I feel like there are so many
- 27:55Speaker 1: little phrases that are that are catchphrase is like, you
- 27:58Speaker 1: know how many times the people I know say, oh,
- 28:01Speaker 1: I like the I like special birthday sex or clips. Yeah,
- 28:08Speaker 1: you know, there's there's a zillion things that were uh,
- 28:13Speaker 1: from the ridiculous to h to just earworms. You know
- 28:17Speaker 1: that I really don't like twisty bottoms. I find them
- 28:20Speaker 1: very annoying. I prefer I'm much more on a clickie top.
- 28:23Speaker 1: I prefer a clickie tops because also you can play
- 28:26Speaker 1: with a clickie top with your nervous synergy. I hate
- 28:29Speaker 1: a twisty bottom, and I feel like a twisty bottom
- 28:31Speaker 1: always reverted to untwisted when you're while you're using it
- 28:35Speaker 1: or in your pocket and then you have ink on
- 28:37Speaker 1: your shirt. Yeah, I want to ask you this. Uh,
- 28:40Speaker 1: when Judy enters for the first time in this episode,
- 28:44Speaker 1: when she enters, it's like a breath of fresh air,
- 28:47Speaker 1: her hairs brand new. She's bright and paint beautiful like that,
- 28:52Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like everything is like and
- 28:54Speaker 1: she's very excited about the wedding. This is a director's question.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Was this something that you were like, this is a
- 28:59Speaker 1: moment for her at that or was this you know
- 29:03Speaker 1: something that she was like, I'm just gonna wear my
- 29:04Speaker 1: hair straight, Like there was just something really beautiful about
- 29:08Speaker 1: her at that and exciting about her at that moment.
- 29:11Speaker 1: It was very exciting. I wish I could take more credit.
- 29:14Speaker 1: I think that was a lot her. I think I
- 29:16Speaker 1: think the one thing that I may have played a
- 29:19Speaker 1: part in this. If you recall season three seams, it
- 29:22Speaker 1: was all about hair. You know that because remember El,
- 29:26Speaker 1: Sarah had gotten her hair redone at the top of
- 29:30Speaker 1: the season, and so you know, Judy had been I
- 29:34Speaker 1: think anxious to Judy was like, where's my make over?
- 29:38Speaker 1: You know, some opportunities to to to audition some different looks. Well,
- 29:42Speaker 1: she looked great. She's coming on for the season three finale.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Judy's coming on for the wedding. Next episode, Missus Turkleton
- 29:52Speaker 1: will be I know our fans have been clamoring for
- 29:54Speaker 1: more Judy Reyes, right, Joel, Yes, absolutely. I get a
- 29:58Speaker 1: lot of messages for Judy. Very why is a Judy back?
- 30:01Speaker 1: What's going on? And I was like, I feel you.
- 30:03Speaker 1: I'm in the same boat. So I'm glad we got everybody.
- 30:05Speaker 1: She's back for the finale and the wedding. Um, I
- 30:08Speaker 1: don't have us say we don't give you what you want. Yeah,
- 30:11Speaker 1: don't say that. All you gotta do is harassed you
- 30:13Speaker 1: well and we'll eventually acquiesce yes facts. Please don't please
- 30:18Speaker 1: don't harass her, harasser, Well, don't harass harasser. Would love, yeah,
- 30:23Speaker 1: don't harass her like a politician walking through the airport.
- 30:26Speaker 1: That is that is very much like how Scrubs operated.
- 30:30Speaker 1: You know, people who used to harass enough to get
- 30:34Speaker 1: on the show, or stand at the gate long enough
- 30:36Speaker 1: to get on property and then get a tour or
- 30:39Speaker 1: or or in Leonard's case, if they if they wrote,
- 30:43Speaker 1: if they wrote me a fan letter, they got all
- 30:45Speaker 1: kinds of ship. Like I said, you get fan mail,
- 30:48Speaker 1: is Leonard? Oh yeah, I mean I mean not, Oh yeah,
- 30:51Speaker 1: I got a lot. But I got something. I was
- 30:53Speaker 1: very excited about it. It It may have come from a prison.
- 30:55Speaker 1: I can't say I love everybody ever. Like a carton
- 30:58Speaker 1: of cigarettes, please, Randall, I would love as signed a
- 31:03Speaker 1: headshot of you as Leonard, if you don't mind, that
- 31:09Speaker 1: would be a great birthday gift. Actually that's great, all right, Randall.
- 31:13Speaker 1: You know next next time you want to get present,
- 31:15Speaker 1: I just want to I just want to like a
- 31:17Speaker 1: but like the hook like on your chin, I'm gonna
- 31:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna you know what, I'm gonna sign it. I'm
- 31:23Speaker 1: gonna sign it. That's what happened. So that's what Danny
- 31:32Speaker 1: says to uh the soup Nanzi. It's five to nine
- 31:36Speaker 1: that Den Romlet's not gonna make itself for that feud.
- 31:40Speaker 1: That was good, I mean, and the the Terror Read
- 31:45Speaker 1: arc another like crazy moment in pop culture and Scrub's history.
- 31:52Speaker 1: I just love how much, how how game she was
- 31:55Speaker 1: to just kind of be funny and be a be
- 31:58Speaker 1: an annoying character were as a cigarette, I mean four games.
- 32:03Speaker 1: How does that work? Because I know at some point
- 32:05Speaker 1: it's like, dude, we gotta like you gotta shit or
- 32:08Speaker 1: get off the pot, because she's she's in like nine
- 32:11Speaker 1: episode something like that, nine to ten episodes, and at
- 32:15Speaker 1: that point it's like, well, what do we do? Do
- 32:16Speaker 1: we make her a regular? Do we do we? You
- 32:18Speaker 1: know what I mean? Like this character is so how
- 32:21Speaker 1: do we you know what I mean, she's a part
- 32:22Speaker 1: of the you know, she's in Jordan's family. It's like,
- 32:26Speaker 1: how do we just make her disappear? And the question
- 32:29Speaker 1: the answer is you just stopped writing for her. But
- 32:31Speaker 1: you know, like she was so funny. It's like that
- 32:35Speaker 1: could have went on for a really long time, is
- 32:37Speaker 1: my point. Yeah, Yeah, I mean I think she could
- 32:40Speaker 1: have looking she could have come back at any time.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Oh really, were you guys, like it's an open invitation
- 32:46Speaker 1: just you know, oh um. From that perspective, it was,
- 32:50Speaker 1: you know what I mean, because like at some point,
- 32:52Speaker 1: at some point, it's like, well, we're not gonna pay
- 32:54Speaker 1: you anymore, you know, mid out it's like the story. Yeah,
- 33:00Speaker 1: it's like the story. The story. It's not like the
- 33:02Speaker 1: story ran out. It's just that it's like we said
- 33:04Speaker 1: it was only gonna be nine episode. So a lot
- 33:08Speaker 1: of times it's like that. With her, it was it
- 33:10Speaker 1: was really I mean, you have to remember that we
- 33:14Speaker 1: were in that time. I mean, wasn't that also sort
- 33:16Speaker 1: of the time when when Paris Hilton was getting popular
- 33:20Speaker 1: and like she I feel like she was a popular
- 33:26Speaker 1: party girl because it was pop culture, Like it was
- 33:30Speaker 1: a moment, and like, I don't think there was any
- 33:33Speaker 1: request for her to be a regular and I think
- 33:35Speaker 1: she was just having I think she was having fun
- 33:38Speaker 1: doing it and did not see it as a long
- 33:41Speaker 1: term play. Yeah, like that. But that's interesting because when
- 33:44Speaker 1: iever I go into a job, that's how I look
- 33:46Speaker 1: at it. I'm like, all right, look, I can wow
- 33:49Speaker 1: these fuckers long enough, they'll continuously think about me every time.
- 33:53Speaker 1: They are every time there thinking of you know, like
- 34:00Speaker 1: if the character, if I can convince them not to
- 34:02Speaker 1: kill this character, like that's like if they if they're
- 34:04Speaker 1: going to kill a character in the movie. My goal
- 34:06Speaker 1: when I get there is somehow convinced the writer don't
- 34:09Speaker 1: fucking killed this character to him. I tell them Neal
- 34:14Speaker 1: flint story all the time he was he was a
- 34:16Speaker 1: He was a bit part in the pilot right and
- 34:21Speaker 1: is the ultimate example of that. He he was like
- 34:25Speaker 1: so funny that that Bill made him a regular. That's
- 34:29Speaker 1: my goal every time I get it. Every time I
- 34:31Speaker 1: get a job, my goal is to somehow wow whoever
- 34:35Speaker 1: is running the thing enough to be like, you know what,
- 34:38Speaker 1: we should hire Donald Fazon. Again. It doesn't always work,
- 34:41Speaker 1: you know what I mean? But I do the same thing, Zach.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Has anybody ever done a tally on how many times
- 34:47Speaker 1: you've foul? How many times? Well? No, but I would.
- 34:53Speaker 1: I would just take the number of em, take the
- 34:56Speaker 1: number of episodes and multiply at times like three. There
- 35:00Speaker 1: some pretty funny falls on this one, the one, the
- 35:01Speaker 1: one taking off my clothes to hurry back to get
- 35:04Speaker 1: into bed with Elliot favorite funny, it's my favorite. I
- 35:07Speaker 1: would have such fun with it because I knew if
- 35:10Speaker 1: the mat was thick enough and could be hidden, I
- 35:12Speaker 1: wouldn't get hurt, so I could really just I mean,
- 35:14Speaker 1: sometimes you couldn't hide the mat and it would hurt
- 35:16Speaker 1: or it would be a stuntman. But but that that
- 35:20Speaker 1: that fall with me twisting with my clothes off, falling,
- 35:23Speaker 1: that was my specialty. And then and then this Yeah, um,
- 35:29Speaker 1: I want to talk about a lot more things, including
- 35:31Speaker 1: the arrival of the janitors. Will be right back after
- 35:33Speaker 1: these were fine and We're bad Girl Girl gold Regular.
- 35:53Speaker 1: I'm sorry, we're gonna stop it, but I do want
- 35:56Speaker 1: Dan to play a little bit of the disrido right here.
- 35:59Speaker 1: So random. We discovered that when you play the Digrey Dude,
- 36:05Speaker 1: you look like you're chugging a giant cock a. Sorry, Rand,
- 36:14Speaker 1: there's so much the process. Sorry, don't you don't have to.
- 36:19Speaker 1: There are so many and there are so many people
- 36:23Speaker 1: around that region who fucking hate us right now for
- 36:27Speaker 1: they know it they know, on the top of the
- 36:32Speaker 1: mountain with the motherfucking I think if there's a disredu
- 36:36Speaker 1: player in your family, you've been hiding the fact that
- 36:38Speaker 1: you want to tell them looks like it looks like
- 36:41Speaker 1: they're chugging a giant pipe smoking. It gives meaning new
- 36:45Speaker 1: meaning to the landdown under. Yeah nice, Randall, Yeah, all right, listen.
- 36:51Speaker 1: So the arrival of the Janitors. I think it's hilarious
- 36:54Speaker 1: that even the black Janitor has Neil's hair. Um, so funny.
- 37:00Speaker 1: They all come out of the back of this very
- 37:02Speaker 1: odd van. I mean, was it your I found that van?
- 37:06Speaker 1: I picked that anyway? That van? I know. I'm not allowed.
- 37:09Speaker 1: I made fun of for talking about the first episode
- 37:12Speaker 1: I directed, which is a masterpiece, but that van is
- 37:14Speaker 1: featured prominently when we when Donald and I go on
- 37:17Speaker 1: the Quest and the and the and uh the janitor kidnapses. Yes,
- 37:21Speaker 1: that's but um so, how did you find that van?
- 37:24Speaker 1: Do you remember where it's from? It's not an American thing.
- 37:27Speaker 1: I can't be um, I know that detail. I don't remember.
- 37:31Speaker 1: But didn't we have eighteen van something like that at
- 37:34Speaker 1: some point? Yes? Sometimes because because we blew that van
- 37:38Speaker 1: up or something something happened to that green van, and
- 37:42Speaker 1: so we had to pick a new van for him.
- 37:44Speaker 1: And I think, actually I think I directed the episode
- 37:47Speaker 1: for the eighteen van from Years Also, that's a second
- 37:52Speaker 1: v I love it. But anyway, this this van was cool.
- 37:55Speaker 1: By the way, David Hasselhoff is selling his personal kit
- 38:00Speaker 1: car auction. I don't I think we need for charity charity.
- 38:05Speaker 1: I'm just don't assume it's for charity, or maybe it's
- 38:07Speaker 1: for his own wallet. I don't know. You see how
- 38:09Speaker 1: judgmental we got real quick. We all got judgmental real quick.
- 38:15Speaker 1: He's selling the kit car for charity. Well, I mean yeah,
- 38:20Speaker 1: I mean fuck it. If David Hasseloff wants to make
- 38:22Speaker 1: some money off his kit car, let him do it. No, no,
- 38:24Speaker 1: I no, I know, no doubt, no doubt. If he
- 38:26Speaker 1: wants to make the money for himself, that's all to
- 38:28Speaker 1: the good. But it's interesting that that's where we are.
- 38:30Speaker 1: I'm assure you think we have the own kid car
- 38:33Speaker 1: goes for it? First of all, a is it like
- 38:34Speaker 1: a tricked out proper one with all the gadgetry inside.
- 38:37Speaker 1: Oh no, that shit doesn't exist. Man. Oh yeah, there's
- 38:41Speaker 1: no way there's a street legal fucking kit out there.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Bet you, I'll bet you anything, a street legal version,
- 38:47Speaker 1: a street legal version. People just like the DeLorean people
- 38:50Speaker 1: have bought these cars and tricked them out with the
- 38:52Speaker 1: like like two specs of the perfect prop so that
- 38:55Speaker 1: car drives itself. No, it doesn't drive itself. It's just
- 38:58Speaker 1: got all the ghack all the although now it probably could.
- 39:03Speaker 1: I know it couldn't, now that's true. I wouldn't mind
- 39:06Speaker 1: a Delirian man. That Delirian still looks badass man to this.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Every time I see a Delorian on the street, like
- 39:11Speaker 1: every few months, you'll see one drive by and I'm like,
- 39:14Speaker 1: I'm on one. Yeah, probably them, I'm told is they
- 39:16Speaker 1: don't sell parts for them anymore, so you kind of
- 39:18Speaker 1: have to like or your mechanic has to like Jerry
- 39:21Speaker 1: rig other parts. Oh I thought they did sell parts
- 39:23Speaker 1: for them. I don't think so. I think if you
- 39:26Speaker 1: if you have a Delorian, you're on your own. I
- 39:28Speaker 1: think you're gonna every time I think about cocaine. Wait,
- 39:34Speaker 1: why do you think about cocaine when you're this is
- 39:37Speaker 1: a good reveal, go because Delirian that's what he got
- 39:41Speaker 1: busted for the guy. Uh. I think they ran him
- 39:46Speaker 1: out of business. I thought, like all of the car
- 39:49Speaker 1: owners didn't like the fact that there was this well,
- 39:51Speaker 1: I mean, that's probably the real reason, but that the
- 39:54Speaker 1: the FBI bust was all around drugs. Oh, I gotta read.
- 39:59Speaker 1: But Joel, just to centis, Kit is currently in the UK,
- 40:03Speaker 1: and whoever wins the lot is responsible for paying the
- 40:06Speaker 1: shipping cause of getting Kit back to the United States.
- 40:09Speaker 1: The auction estimate is between one hundred and seventy five
- 40:12Speaker 1: thousand and three hundred thousand. Here's the catch if bidding
- 40:14Speaker 1: exceeds twenty five percent of the nine hundred and seventy
- 40:18Speaker 1: five thousand dollars reserve price. Wait what David Hasselhoff personally
- 40:24Speaker 1: delivered the vehicle to its new owner. But I'm confused
- 40:26Speaker 1: about that. The reserve is nine hundred and seventy five thousand,
- 40:30Speaker 1: meaning he's not going to release it. But but but
- 40:32Speaker 1: this doesn't make sense though, because this says nine hundred
- 40:36Speaker 1: and seventy five is the reserve, which feels very high
- 40:38Speaker 1: for the car. Kit. Really, you were just talking about
- 40:42Speaker 1: how awesome it would be to have a tripped out,
- 40:45Speaker 1: freaking brand new kit Well Kit for one seventy five
- 40:50Speaker 1: That that is the Kit that that Hasselhoff owns. Seems
- 40:53Speaker 1: like you get him too. I love that guy. Yeah,
- 41:02Speaker 1: he was on Scrubs and he was on St. Elsewhere.
- 41:06Speaker 1: I forgot his name, but he was on St. Elsewhere, Michael.
- 41:10Speaker 1: He was also I told you that I went to
- 41:13Speaker 1: Universal Studios back in the day and they had a
- 41:16Speaker 1: Kit car that you would sit in, and I was
- 41:18Speaker 1: young enough to be fucking baffled by the fact that
- 41:21Speaker 1: there was obviously a camera with some guy in a
- 41:24Speaker 1: mic in a room somewhere, because he was like, I
- 41:26Speaker 1: like your sweater and I was like, oh, holy shit, kid,
- 41:29Speaker 1: it's real. I was also at Universal and Kit Kit
- 41:33Speaker 1: said to me, he goes, my, do we have one
- 41:36Speaker 1: of the Los Angeles Lakers? What? Oh? Because you're tall?
- 41:42Speaker 1: Why do you Why do you make kids so effeminine? Hello?
- 41:46Speaker 1: Was Kit trying to fuck you Randall? No? But he
- 41:49Speaker 1: plays the dijury dude come back? Oh my gosh, can
- 41:57Speaker 1: imagine the guy the guy the guy playing Kid is
- 41:59Speaker 1: like hitting on like, oh, someone's girthy, Like calm down, Kit,
- 42:04Speaker 1: calm down, all right? Should we talk about um? I
- 42:10Speaker 1: want to talk about um. Sorry. Last joke from that
- 42:13Speaker 1: I that we left out that I laughed at was
- 42:15Speaker 1: when the soup Nazi says he loves it. When she
- 42:19Speaker 1: finishes a beer, she looks inside to make sure that
- 42:22Speaker 1: there's none left. It's a funny little character trade about
- 42:29Speaker 1: Danny there Um. So JD is already frustrated with Elliott.
- 42:34Speaker 1: He I laughed out loud when Elliott sneezes with her
- 42:36Speaker 1: eyes open. That was funny. But he's not frustrated. He
- 42:40Speaker 1: just he doesn't seem frustrated. Doesn't do you think he's frustrated? Well,
- 42:45Speaker 1: he's just all of a sudden, the second he got
- 42:47Speaker 1: or the instant he got her, he realized he doesn't
- 42:49Speaker 1: love her. What's not to love? Though, I'm saying where
- 42:53Speaker 1: Elliot is so frustrated? Elliott is a dream girl. She's
- 42:57Speaker 1: so fun, she's so silly, she's so beautiful. Sure she's
- 43:02Speaker 1: neurotic and nuts, but who the fuck isn't And I
- 43:05Speaker 1: just I don't know. The whole time I'm watching them
- 43:06Speaker 1: going like, JD, you are never going to do any
- 43:09Speaker 1: better than this amazing woman. What the fuck is wrong
- 43:12Speaker 1: with you? What is the because I mean, you literally
- 43:14Speaker 1: have those lines in the show where you're like, I
- 43:16Speaker 1: want somebody who's crazy, and she's like, let's watch uh yeah,
- 43:23Speaker 1: who likes to watch old corny movies. And she's like,
- 43:26Speaker 1: let's watch Kangaroo Jack. And she's and You're like, damn,
- 43:29Speaker 1: she's perfect. She's she's something like, she's perfect. Yeah, I've
- 43:33Speaker 1: never seen Kangaroo Jack. Who's in that? Jerry O'Connell and
- 43:37Speaker 1: Anthony Anderson, Wow and a Kangaroo it's them in Australia.
- 43:42Speaker 1: I think Chasing After a Kangaroo it's a Jerry Bruckheimer movie. Also, right,
- 43:46Speaker 1: have you seen it? Yeah? I think I think I
- 43:49Speaker 1: saw it in the movie theater. Are you kidding me? Always,
- 43:52Speaker 1: I went to high school with Jerry O'Connell and I
- 43:54Speaker 1: did a movie with uh with Anthony when I was
- 43:58Speaker 1: very young. Both of those guys are friends of mine.
- 44:02Speaker 1: That's amazing. Absolutely, I definitely saw the movie. I saw
- 44:05Speaker 1: it in the movie theater. I actually I probably went
- 44:08Speaker 1: to the premiere. Okay, And this was right around the
- 44:11Speaker 1: time when I was doing Remember the Titans. So it
- 44:13Speaker 1: was a Bruckheimer project. So oh, you were in the
- 44:16Speaker 1: Bruckheimer family at that point. Yes, Donald, the one of
- 44:20Speaker 1: the one of the you know, results of this past year.
- 44:25Speaker 1: You know COVID and all is. I spent a ton
- 44:29Speaker 1: of time with my brother. I lived with him for
- 44:32Speaker 1: three months. It was amazing. It's most time we spent
- 44:34Speaker 1: together and forever. And remember The Titans is one of
- 44:39Speaker 1: his all time favorite movies and literally like made me
- 44:44Speaker 1: sit in bed one rainy afternoon in Hawaii with him
- 44:48Speaker 1: and to watch it and him cry, and it was
- 44:51Speaker 1: it was a very big brotherly moment and a brotherly moment.
- 44:56Speaker 1: Have you seen it before? I had you seen it before?
- 44:59Speaker 1: That was your first time seeing it? Yes? Did you
- 45:04Speaker 1: enjoy it? Yes? It's not to enjoy It's a masterpiece.
- 45:09Speaker 1: There's no I'm sure there's a lot of people out
- 45:11Speaker 1: there that are like, it wasn't for me. I don't
- 45:13Speaker 1: you know. I like football and that's not my kind
- 45:15Speaker 1: of football MOVIEK. There's this really random moment I'm sure
- 45:19Speaker 1: Sarah and I were just riffing that you kept in
- 45:21Speaker 1: and you and Bill kept in where we're reminiscing about
- 45:25Speaker 1: the horse. Yeah, we're reminiscing about the things we have
- 45:28Speaker 1: in common, and that the memories we have. I remember,
- 45:31Speaker 1: we're just like riffing nonsense. We're remember those two guys
- 45:34Speaker 1: and the mom was trying to remember this song and
- 45:36Speaker 1: and then there's a long pause until we had to
- 45:39Speaker 1: put their horse down, horse Cinnamon. He could run like
- 45:43Speaker 1: the wind, but his tail couldn't put out that fire.
- 45:47Speaker 1: So fucking random it was written, right, I don't remember
- 45:53Speaker 1: if it was. I don't think. I don't think. On
- 45:54Speaker 1: the day, we were just being silly, right, Yes, then
- 45:57Speaker 1: you guys, you that's fucking phenomenal, dude, such a great
- 46:01Speaker 1: I mean, I'm sure there was help from Bill and
- 46:03Speaker 1: exactly exactly. It built on itself. Yeah, we just kept
- 46:06Speaker 1: going on it. But it's so weird and random, and
- 46:09Speaker 1: it's a funny thing that's been left in the episode
- 46:10Speaker 1: because it has nothing to do with anything else. I mean,
- 46:12Speaker 1: it serves the point, like we have a lot of
- 46:14Speaker 1: shared memories together, but it's just so random. But but
- 46:18Speaker 1: you know, I'm always like, it was cinnamon running in circles, Like,
- 46:26Speaker 1: how did cinnamon you know, right to get the fire?
- 46:31Speaker 1: Why what was I doing? Why was sitting in trying
- 46:35Speaker 1: to start the fire? Like? No, we had to put cinnamon.
- 46:41Speaker 1: We had to put Cinnamon down, um because of the fire.
- 46:44Speaker 1: So I imagine he was injured enough in the blaze
- 46:49Speaker 1: to need me, what did the tail have to do
- 46:52Speaker 1: with it? No matter what was the line was, Um,
- 46:56Speaker 1: he could run like the wind, but his tail couldn't
- 46:59Speaker 1: put out that fire. I think now that I read
- 47:02Speaker 1: it again, I think he was he was trying to Randall.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Was he either what he was he's trying to wave
- 47:09Speaker 1: the fire off his own body, or was he running
- 47:11Speaker 1: around the fire trying to put it out by waving
- 47:13Speaker 1: his tail? Who was the tail against his body? Yeah?
- 47:18Speaker 1: I didn't know. It's either or I guess it's it's
- 47:20Speaker 1: it's up for interpretation. Yeah. Well, because of the he
- 47:24Speaker 1: could run like the wind. I had in my head
- 47:26Speaker 1: I pictured him running around the barn trying to get
- 47:30Speaker 1: to create enough. So he was sort of a he
- 47:34Speaker 1: was sentient in a way that he was he had
- 47:36Speaker 1: a plan to extinguish the fire, and the plan went awry. Donald,
- 47:43Speaker 1: you have tears in your eyes at fifteen nineteen, or
- 47:45Speaker 1: those real or fake ones that were blown into your
- 47:48Speaker 1: eyes with the with the menthol Fa. Yeah, it's pretty
- 47:52Speaker 1: hard for you to just start sobbing on Q. Well no, yeah,
- 47:56Speaker 1: on que. It's kind of hard. But if you if
- 47:58Speaker 1: I work myself up to it, I can make it
- 48:00Speaker 1: look like, so the point of it was that that
- 48:03Speaker 1: Judy's speech is so moving that you've got tears coming
- 48:05Speaker 1: down your face, but you haven't seen anything, but they
- 48:08Speaker 1: show you rehearsing. And that was so funny when when
- 48:10Speaker 1: Donald's trying to u when Turke is trying to write
- 48:13Speaker 1: his speech, and he's like, baby, you know you're my baby,
- 48:16Speaker 1: and when it comes to babies, you're the best baby.
- 48:20Speaker 1: There was babies before you, but you will always be
- 48:24Speaker 1: my baby. Baby. That was funny. And then Marco sabotages
- 48:30Speaker 1: you by stealing the monologue from Billy Crystal at the
- 48:34Speaker 1: end of when Harry Matsally and that's so funny that
- 48:37Speaker 1: you don't know and you deliver it so sincerely. Well,
- 48:41Speaker 1: it all comes from me making fun of him for
- 48:43Speaker 1: loving when Harry met Sally in the beginning of the show, right,
- 48:46Speaker 1: which which establishes that you haven't seen it. Established is
- 48:49Speaker 1: one that I haven't seen it and two yeah, and
- 48:53Speaker 1: JD tries to tell Turk, yeah, he does the thing
- 48:58Speaker 1: with his hand like you no, no, don't, don't, don't
- 49:00Speaker 1: don't do it dude. Yeah, yeah, because Jadie obviously is
- 49:03Speaker 1: seen when Herryman's out, Um, but that's so funny, how
- 49:06Speaker 1: earnestly you deliver that um that that Billy Crystal monologue,
- 49:11Speaker 1: and uh, I guess and it's not. But that's the
- 49:15Speaker 1: weirdest thing ever. It's not because it's not because you're
- 49:19Speaker 1: you know, it's not because we're getting married. It's not
- 49:22Speaker 1: because it's our rehearsal dinner tonight. It's because when you
- 49:25Speaker 1: love someone, you want to spend the rest of your
- 49:29Speaker 1: life with them. Exactly, all right, we have the fan
- 49:33Speaker 1: is here, so we are going to take a quick break, right, Joel, yep,
- 49:37Speaker 1: this is what to take a break? What it's not
- 49:40Speaker 1: weird that Turk is giving the exact cadence that Billy
- 49:44Speaker 1: Crystal gives in the movie. And he didn't write that,
- 49:47Speaker 1: you know what I mean, and he's never seen the movie.
- 49:50Speaker 1: But he's giving the exact cadence that doesn't. I love
- 49:54Speaker 1: that line that when you love someone, you when you
- 49:57Speaker 1: finally think I came here tonight, because when you realize
- 50:00Speaker 1: you love someone, whatever it is, starting with them, you
- 50:05Speaker 1: want the rest of your life to start right now.
- 50:07Speaker 1: It's all right, we'll be right back. Hellogle. The last episode, Joel,
- 50:25Speaker 1: this is the last episode of that about both gurgles
- 50:28Speaker 1: and disred. You're the one who made up the gurgle, gurgle, gurgle. No,
- 50:31Speaker 1: it's a Howard Stern thing. I didn't make that up.
- 50:32Speaker 1: They always do that on Howard Stern. I have to
- 50:35Speaker 1: my my whole, my whole act is stolen from my, my,
- 50:38Speaker 1: my legend, my my, my, my, my favorite radio voice,
- 50:41Speaker 1: Howard Stern. All right, bring in, bring us the guests, friends, Daniel,
- 50:46Speaker 1: have fun with the Oprah voice on this one. Oh boy, hello,
- 50:55Speaker 1: give it up for arm and barn Hard and Gna.
- 51:02Speaker 1: That was a pretty alright, alright, alright, that was a
- 51:05Speaker 1: good attempt. I was pretty good. MP. I have no
- 51:08Speaker 1: idea what language that is? Armand where are you calling from? Iceland? Iceland? Wow,
- 51:15Speaker 1: it's our first Iceland. Bernard, what is it? Can you
- 51:18Speaker 1: say it for me? Brook? You say your name. It's
- 51:20Speaker 1: it's a say one more time, our Orderman Barnhart like
- 51:31Speaker 1: like like Bernhard, yet in beautiful give it up. I
- 51:42Speaker 1: can't do it, Armand welcome, Welcome, Welcome. We also have
- 51:49Speaker 1: lovely name we have here who not only is you
- 51:54Speaker 1: may know him as Leonard the security guard and also
- 51:57Speaker 1: death and also our line producer. But he directed this
- 52:00Speaker 1: particular episode of the show Armand, Hey man, where are
- 52:05Speaker 1: you calling from? He said, Iceland? Oh, I thought the
- 52:09Speaker 1: name was icelandic I didn't know. He was yeah, downtown
- 52:13Speaker 1: right now. Our art department was were big fans of
- 52:18Speaker 1: Iceland are Our art director married an icelandic man. And
- 52:22Speaker 1: when she was in REKIEVX, she's run into a couple
- 52:25Speaker 1: other people from the scrub's art department. Armand, is it
- 52:28Speaker 1: true that Iceland is the one that's green and Greenland
- 52:31Speaker 1: is the one with more ice? It's very true, Zach,
- 52:34Speaker 1: very true. It's we have four seasons here and sometimes
- 52:39Speaker 1: it's green, sometimes it's not. But isn't it true that
- 52:41Speaker 1: that was done? I mean, I heard this urban legend
- 52:44Speaker 1: that you're gonna tell me. Might be not true that
- 52:46Speaker 1: they did that on purpose because they wanted to dissuade
- 52:48Speaker 1: people from coming there, so they called it Iceland even
- 52:50Speaker 1: though it was very green. Well, the stories are very uh,
- 52:53Speaker 1: they differ from time to time. The story is that
- 52:56Speaker 1: Eric the Red discovered Greenland and he named Greenland so
- 53:00Speaker 1: that people would actually go there, even though it was
- 53:03Speaker 1: not very green except only on the coast. And the
- 53:07Speaker 1: name of Iceland comes from the first settler who came here.
- 53:10Speaker 1: His name was Raven Floki, and he came here, and
- 53:14Speaker 1: he actually settled up in the north, and he came
- 53:16Speaker 1: here pretty late summer, so by the time when he
- 53:19Speaker 1: was ready to start cultivating, doing some agriculture, some animal husbandry,
- 53:23Speaker 1: winter came and it froze and all the crops died.
- 53:27Speaker 1: And he left later that year and said, I curse
- 53:31Speaker 1: you and I name you Iceland. That's a good story.
- 53:36Speaker 1: I heard that Raikuvik is one of the most fun
- 53:38Speaker 1: cities on earth. Is that true. It's very nice to
- 53:42Speaker 1: be here. It has a viprant nightlife, it's very safe,
- 53:47Speaker 1: it's quite It's an easy going city most of the time.
- 53:51Speaker 1: Of course, Icelanders are known for partying, so bars usually
- 53:55Speaker 1: don't close until like three four am. Of course, now
- 53:58Speaker 1: with COVID, nothing is open past nine. Yeah. I was
- 54:02Speaker 1: going to ask you, are you guys as hit Oh
- 54:05Speaker 1: nothing is open. You guys still have bars, so you
- 54:07Speaker 1: can still go to bars up until nine o'clock. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 54:10Speaker 1: Just on Wednesday, we had a new rule. Basically, we
- 54:13Speaker 1: have these three people who take care of all the
- 54:18Speaker 1: all the all the rules basically, so as of Wednesday,
- 54:23Speaker 1: we're allowed to be fifty people together in restaurants, theaters
- 54:27Speaker 1: and movie theaters a little bit more. For it depends
- 54:33Speaker 1: on the size of the stores. For example, if you
- 54:36Speaker 1: have a store that's over like five hundred square feet,
- 54:39Speaker 1: you can have one hundred people and then ten more
- 54:41Speaker 1: each square foot above it's ten square square feet. So
- 54:45Speaker 1: it sounds like you the country must have it under
- 54:47Speaker 1: control if you're allowed to do all that. Yeah, very
- 54:50Speaker 1: early on we elected three people, the director of the
- 54:53Speaker 1: immuno like one one high set doctor, one high set
- 55:00Speaker 1: at a police officer who's like chief of the raki
- 55:05Speaker 1: Vic police, and then the the the chief of medicine
- 55:09Speaker 1: of Iceland. We got these three people and they basically
- 55:12Speaker 1: they set the rules with the government and we just
- 55:16Speaker 1: listened to that. And if you don't do that, then
- 55:18Speaker 1: you can have hefty fines. For my senses, you might
- 55:22Speaker 1: not have an anti masker problem in your country like
- 55:24Speaker 1: we had. No not so much. We've had one big
- 55:27Speaker 1: case of a person refusing to wear a mask and
- 55:30Speaker 1: she got arrested this week, So whoa she was supposed
- 55:35Speaker 1: to do that? Here? They don't do that. You could,
- 55:38Speaker 1: you could in America. You don't have to wear a
- 55:40Speaker 1: mask and you could get in somebody's personal space and
- 55:44Speaker 1: not suffer any consequences other than getting kicked out of
- 55:47Speaker 1: a store. Yeah, just putting it out there. Um, all right,
- 55:51Speaker 1: let's let's focus armand you have a question for any
- 55:53Speaker 1: of us? Yeah, I absolutely do. First have a question
- 55:56Speaker 1: for you, Zach, Yes, sir, I am a dungeon master
- 55:59Speaker 1: at play a lot of yes. Hello, Hey, Donald, Hey,
- 56:04Speaker 1: how's going? In fact, I just got out of a
- 56:07Speaker 1: session about twenty minutes ago, and I have a question
- 56:09Speaker 1: regarding writer's block because I have my own homebrew world
- 56:13Speaker 1: and I make all the stories and stuff, but I
- 56:16Speaker 1: tend to get lost and have difficulty making. Can you
- 56:20Speaker 1: let the man ask his fucking question. You know what
- 56:23Speaker 1: he's asking. He's going to ask you, how do you
- 56:25Speaker 1: get through? You? Why are you interrupting it? We've never
- 56:26Speaker 1: had a fucking guess from ranking before. And you're like,
- 56:28Speaker 1: what what? Because we said something about freaking uh okay,
- 56:35Speaker 1: your own rules, Donald, just homebreds means your own rules. Okay,
- 56:39Speaker 1: that's right, Okay, can you continue, Urmand, I'm sorry about
- 56:41Speaker 1: my friend. Well, my question is really like, how do
- 56:43Speaker 1: you get through writer's block? Because because I tend to
- 56:52Speaker 1: like sit down and start writing and then nothing is coming.
- 56:55Speaker 1: And then I just just just a quick question Armand
- 56:58Speaker 1: for those who don't know Dungeon Dragon, when you're the
- 57:00Speaker 1: dungeon Master, you kind of create and make up the
- 57:03Speaker 1: world for the game that everybody's playing. Right, Absolutely, yes,
- 57:07Speaker 1: And you can make anything happen. You can be like
- 57:08Speaker 1: and now we walked into a cave. Yeah, and then
- 57:11Speaker 1: it's up to the players to sort of spin that around.
- 57:14Speaker 1: What do they want to do in the cave? Well,
- 57:16Speaker 1: there are a lot of people that can't just say
- 57:18Speaker 1: something to say. The thing is, there's also it's not
- 57:21Speaker 1: just adventure. It's not just so you're fighting fighting fighting,
- 57:25Speaker 1: there's also storytelling involved. You spend a lot of time
- 57:28Speaker 1: in taverns, and there's world building and everything like that,
- 57:31Speaker 1: and so it's you know, it's really easy to be like,
- 57:35Speaker 1: so you come to a town and at the town
- 57:37Speaker 1: you meet an adventure there's an adventures tabn, and you
- 57:40Speaker 1: walk into the adventures tabin and you look for a
- 57:43Speaker 1: mission and you get it at campaign and you find
- 57:46Speaker 1: adventurers And I feel like that'd be a great dungeon master, dude.
- 57:50Speaker 1: That's what he's trying to He's trying to say, like,
- 57:52Speaker 1: I don't want to just do that, is there are
- 57:54Speaker 1: are there other ways to create stories? Also saying do
- 57:57Speaker 1: you run out? What do you do when your brain's
- 57:59Speaker 1: not coming with idea? You know, I don't. I'm not
- 58:02Speaker 1: very disciplined with this armand but a lot of writers
- 58:04Speaker 1: will say, there's no such thing as writer's block. You
- 58:06Speaker 1: just didn't outline enough. I don't necessarily find my best
- 58:11Speaker 1: stuff comes that way. But if I was, I think
- 58:13Speaker 1: if I was gonna be a dungeon master, I would
- 58:16Speaker 1: definitely make sure that I had bullet pointed out, like
- 58:19Speaker 1: I'm going to start here, I want to get to hear.
- 58:22Speaker 1: I have an idea that we're going to go over
- 58:26Speaker 1: to hear, to this tavern. I would like make an
- 58:28Speaker 1: outline of all of the great story telling beats I
- 58:33Speaker 1: wanted to hit, so that then you kind of just
- 58:35Speaker 1: know where you have to go and then your creativity
- 58:38Speaker 1: fills in all the spaces. Do you know what I mean?
- 58:42Speaker 1: I know, Yeah, there's a lot of screenwriters that write
- 58:44Speaker 1: like that. They'll they'll outline the whole script so they
- 58:47Speaker 1: and then the more detailed their outline is the better,
- 58:50Speaker 1: and then when it comes time to actually sit down
- 58:52Speaker 1: and write the dialogue and write the action, they have
- 58:54Speaker 1: such a specificity to what they've already outlined, Like I
- 58:57Speaker 1: need to write a tavern scene where these three characters
- 59:01Speaker 1: get in an argument and then discover that they're going
- 59:03Speaker 1: to go here, you know. So it's it's it's very
- 59:06Speaker 1: clear what you need to write by the time you
- 59:08Speaker 1: get to writing. Do you have do you have any
- 59:11Speaker 1: of the books? The base books, like I have the
- 59:13Speaker 1: whole Trinity of course, huh do the original jump offs?
- 59:17Speaker 1: I Guide all that stuff. Yeah, and Monstammanual. There's a
- 59:25Speaker 1: bunch of source material that you can you always use,
- 59:29Speaker 1: do you guys always? Like when you guys are playing,
- 59:31Speaker 1: do you do you have them go against like epic
- 59:34Speaker 1: monsters or are they going up against like like, how
- 59:37Speaker 1: do you space out your campaign? Obviously it starts off
- 59:40Speaker 1: with something small and then it's something epic at the end.
- 59:43Speaker 1: Do you ever why not empire strikes back the situation
- 59:46Speaker 1: and start off with the big battle in the beginning,
- 59:49Speaker 1: and then the rest of it's nothing but story at
- 59:52Speaker 1: you know, during an inn and puzzle solving at the
- 59:55Speaker 1: end instead of you know, you know, switch it up
- 59:57Speaker 1: that way. If you're really hitting writer's block like that,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: you might be doing this already. I'm just you know,
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: thinking of the things that you know, my DM when
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: I was growing up, he would do things like that
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: where it's like we would spend all night on a
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: campaign and not do anything but puzzle solving, and then
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: we'd have like one epic battle. And then sometimes he
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: started off where we'd have like this epic battle and
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: then he'd be puzzle solving. Like, I'm just trying to
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: throw out different ways to play the game. Yeah, we
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: just finished a gothic horror themed adventure and as soon
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: as they got out of there, they basically came into
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: my world and suddenly the world was a lot bigger.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: And we ended the session with, oh, by the way,
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: there's trolls coming to break down the castle. So the
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: next time we go, it'll start with a troll trying
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: to break down the castle and we're gonna start rolling
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: the ball. Why are the trolls there? Right? How many
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: how many people do you have play? How many people?
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: We currently went down from six down to four, which
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: is a very comfortable size. And how many hours are
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: you guys playing We tend to play about four to
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: five hours every two weeks. Just about Daniel and Joel,
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: have you done this? You're both nodding. Have you played
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: d and by every Sunday? Who are you guys? Playing
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: with men in New York have friends without children. We
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: have eight hours every Sunday to dedicate. That's why. That's
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: why I asked how many hours? That's why I asked
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: him how many hours are you dedicating to this? Four
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: to five hours? Man, that's a quick camp. See all
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: the fun you could be having without those procession though,
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: So I mean, I'm sure it's the same campaign. So
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: it's just you only no, no, no, I I was
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: about to say, my bad, four or five hours for
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: a session is not enough time. We would do like
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: I remember one time when I was a kid, we
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: did a sixteen hours session. That's too long. I have
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: to say, why the attention span for a sixteen hours?
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: Some people? Some people? The d the dungeon master was
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: the only person that didn't sleep. Man, But we got pizza,
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: we got Coca cola. We freaking stayed up all night
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: long and playing dungeons and dragons. Because those are the days.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: Sounds over the days dude. I remember my dad walked
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: into the house and was like good night, and everybody
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: just got up and left. That's how the character I
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: would like to do. I'd like to be a guest
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: dungeon Master Jowell. Oh my god, i'd be so I'll
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: get you the books. Okay, really you would be a
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: great dungeon master. I would love to do it, because
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: I would. I would like like like armand saying, I
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: think I could weave a good tale that gets sorry,
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: sorry go ahead, ben, no, no, please please please no.
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: The only thing that gets, The only thing that gets
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: is not playing favorites and stuff like that. Like you
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: might create your own character as a dungeon master and
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: stuff like that, and you might love that, Like that
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: would suck about. Like my DM, he would create characters
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: and stuff that he loved, and you would have a
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: character that got, you know, that became like let's say
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: a higher level, and you faced his character that he loved,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: and there's no way you're ever gonna win, even if
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: you critical hit double zero's fucking fatality. The fucker has
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: a helmet on or something like that to stop it
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: from from from killing him. Like it was just like
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: so much stuff like Zach who loves the rules. I
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: feel like Zach is gonna be the kind of d
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: M who's like, yes, very creative and like into like
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: creating his own characters and stuff. But then like also,
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: like in D and D, there's like very strict rules
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: about like how many hit points you have and like
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: what different things impact a character. And I feel like
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: you're gonna rely on the books pretty religiously and follow
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: that and that's what makes it game fun. Like this
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: is the combination of chance and improv and that's just
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: like gambling too right, And it's like gambling too right.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: It's like you're sitting at the table. Sex is there? Sex? Yeah?
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: Whatever you want? Whatever I want to know. I have
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: all my characters, my warlocks and my gnomes and wizards
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: all enter a brothel. And it's like, if you roll this,
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: you you like, yeah, I don't want to role play
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: sex like that. Yes, you can do it. I want
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: to say, if you please, if you roll a seven,
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: you please the wench as long as there's consent. Yeah,
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: as long as everybody at the table is okay with it.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: Randall's like, what the fuck did I want to I'm
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: not he was like I thought we were talking about scrubs.
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: I'm fascinated. All right, let's go. We should steer this
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: away from D and D for people that have no
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: interest in D and D. Armand you have another question, Yes,
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: I do. Donald doing a bit of sleuthing, I learned
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: an interesting story about the time when you gave a
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: used napkin to an improv group. Yes and Times Yeah,
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: Times Square, Yeah, I'm sure I did it. I do
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: recall doing something. Asked for a prop and you gave
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: them a used napkin. They asked for a used nap
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: They asked for what I had in my pocket, and
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: I had a used napkin and I was like, this
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: is gross, dude. I had it in my pocket and
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: it's used, and they were like, we need it. Did
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: they make up a whole bit about it. I didn't
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: even stick around the seat a bit. I just gave
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: the napkin and took off. Dude, it's fucking New York man,
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: Get the funk out of here. You trying to rob
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: me of something. Always like on the street, Yeah, dude, Oh,
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: no one wants your street improv. Guys. Listen, if your
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: thing is street improv, get the funk out of here.
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: You deserve that dirty napkin. Or here comes imaging webcam
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: all right back in the Is it too late, Daniel,
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: I thought you got a new kid? Oh there we go. Yeah,
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: by the way, when it works in spurts, it looks
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: really good. Um. Is it too late to give to
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: offer arm on any advice at all? Yeah, I'm so
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: very very quickly. This is just about just want to
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: lose listeners, Daniel, I apologize. This is just about writer's
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: block in general. When I was writing music and I
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: would always get to a point where I don't know
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: what to do with this beat whatever, blah blah blah,
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: I would truly start over something new, write a completely
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: new song, write something entirely different. And what that would
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: do was just like, instead of me focused on pushing
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: my creativity on that moment, it was just restarting it
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: and resetting and just like starting a new page. And
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: I feel like that can be applied to things like
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: D and D like scenarios. It's like, if you're having
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: trouble coming up with a section, forget it. Any work
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: that you do that is creative work is going to
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: be helpful for what you're doing. In the future, whether
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: it's a new campaign, whether it's something else that you're
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: working on. Just start fresh on something completely new. Talk
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: about a new encounter, talk about a new tavern, the
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: drig go to go to, think of a new town
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: that you're going to visit. Just completely start over the
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: creative process with something else, so that your brain is
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: still going and creating ideas. Because then when you're in
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: the active process of creating ideas, maybe that thing that
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: you were working on will come to you. Yeah, and
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: don't be the guy that like kills everybody. Man. Let
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: people freaking play and freaking chart it's the EP at
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: the end of the campaign, so they can go out
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: and buy shit in the books, because that's the best part.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: That's the best part. The best part is going shop
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: and being like, I'm gonna get that I'm gonna get
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: that freaking bastard sword. That's the best part. All right, um,
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: let's go back to your second question. Well, my second
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: question was mostly just about that napkin because I just
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: I just love the fact that some people came up
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: to Donald and he's walking the street just like we
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: need something that you have. Just give it to us.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: Anything you have and he just went to far Did
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: they recognize you? Donald? Do you remember where? They just thinking, well,
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: they obviously recognize me. After No, they might have been
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: all because they put it in the news. I see,
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: because it became news. But you know that's yeah, that's
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: it's like in my like IMDb or some shit like that. Yeah,
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: it's an important fact about you. Yeah it is. It's
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: very important. I am known to have used. Everyone knows.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: If you confront Donald with your street improv in New
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: York City, you're probably gonna get a dirty napkin. All right,
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: it's time for Iceland's favorite segment. Donald, it's time too
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: fix your j' well wincing every time. That's my favorite part.
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: All right, go ahead, our mom, We're gonna fix your life.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: So here's the thing. I just got into a relationship
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: a few months ago. And this is the kind of
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: thing where you just meet the person you completely fault
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: for them. We met, we went to a concert. I
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: invited her over for a beer. We went and we
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: drank half a beer, but we talked for like five hours,
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: and then I drove her home. And the thing is
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: that she came here on a sort of a tourist
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: visa so she could be here for three months. So
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: she left in December. She's not going to be back
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: for another three months. So I guess my question is, like,
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: any of you ever been in a long distance relationship
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: and do you have any tips on how to like
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: cultivate that in that absence? Yeah, Donald, Donald's going to
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: go first, and he's got a He's definitely got a tip,
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: no pun intended for how to deal with that situation.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: Go ahead. I have a question. I have a question.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: Are you guys in a relationship or did you just
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: share a beer and it's a girl? Are you exclusive?
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: He wants, Oh, that's a great okay. Yeah, So we
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: shared that beer and then two weeks two days later,
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: we went on another date. Then I'd tookle on like
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: a tourist date where you go to see all the
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: nice sights and the nice black sand beaches and the
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: waterfalls and the hot water bursting out of the ground,
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: all that good stuff. And yeah, we are pretty exclusive.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: We are very much in love, and right we are
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: very much seven thousand kilometers apart. Well, the good news
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: is you found love, dude. Yeah, Joel's just looking for that.
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: We're trying to find her. But listen, before we get
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: to solving your problem. In this crazy time on Earth,
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: when everyone's on lockdown and everyone is going through a
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: rough time with this earth, what's happen ending on this earth,
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: you manage to find love. So that's that's a that's
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: a celebratory thing. That's a number one problem to have
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: right there, Lightning in a bottle. Yeah. And and with
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: technology the way it is, you guys can be intimate
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: and and and all of that stuff now, so it's
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: not like long distance relationships like back in a day
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: where you know it's letters and you're living through the
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: moment through every word that you read in a letter
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: and stuff. So you have a lot of tools and
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: technology to help you out. But I totally get it.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: There's nothing like touch. But you can see her, you
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: can talk to her, you can you know what I mean.
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: You can literally she could literally take you wherever she
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: goes if you really want, if you if that's what
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: you guys really want. Um, it makes Mexico Mexico, Okay,
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: if I may, Because when scrub started, I was I
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: was in a relationship that became a long distance relationship.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: That's right, And you didn't have all of this technology,
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: and I did not have all this technology, and you
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: know it really I mean, relationship, whether you're together or
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: whether you're a part, is about sharing, you know, and
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: that keeps I thought, kept the excitement up. So I
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: got great pleasure out of, you know, finding things that
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: I was around that we had either shared or that
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: I was excited to, uh for us to do together
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: when we were together, and you know, send that via mail,
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: or send little packages that were that contained something that
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: we had shared together, or something that we had talked
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: about together but didn't get the chance to to really
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: engage in. And you know, it was that for me.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: It went on for a while, and the great part
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: about the distance was we were always happy to see
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: each other and always missed each other when we were apart.
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: So that was the joy in the distance. I think
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: I agree with Randall that all the technology is awesome
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: and you guys can face time and and spend time
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: with each other. But one thing that's nice is to
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: do something analog, like surprise her with a long handwritten letter,
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: or surprise her with a little package just because like
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: a care package. Man, that no one does that shit anymore.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: I love it When I get a handwritten letter in
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: the mail, I think it's it's just so special. I
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: love it when I get package from just anybody you care,
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: packages are amazing, amazing, you can't go wrong with that.
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: Like that's just that's just love in a basket of care,
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: it's like just T Holy shit, they put a T
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: shirt in it just for me. Yep, yep, Oh my god,
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: look at this. Look the whole notebook. It's filled with
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: nothing but you know, love and just polaroid pictures of us,
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: you know, Look at motherfucker put it. Motherfucker put a
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: shoe box with all photographs in a the bus. Look
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: at it. I love it right. Oh look it's chocolates
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: a song that I made me think of you. I
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: have a tape deck no more. How am I gonna
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: play this ship? By the way, armand is she M?
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: Does she play D and D with you? And she
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: did play dn D a long time ago? But I
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: have looked at that tided dice. Yeah, because you could.
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: You could. Maybe another idea is to include her in
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: your in your game, so that she's getting to know
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: your friends and and and playing D and D with
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: you as well. We lost. She got me this ord. Wow, guys,
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: it's a D twenty. I know all the ling go.
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: It's an aedron for those who do Do you be rolling?
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: Do you roll? That? Is that your attack? Die? Yeah?
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: But this is a It's made out of paper, so
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: it's very weighted. Sorry, I woke up my cats. Sorry,
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: that looks like a kittens. She's about six months. I'm sorry, buddy.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: You guys. Should I get a cat? No? I can
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: never come over. Yeah, but every time I see someone
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: with the cat, I'm jealous. They also fuck up your furniture, right, Armond,
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: She's gonna fuck up all your your Oh yeah, there's
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: a reason why you can't see below the bed. That's
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: the thing about kittens. They're so cute, but they're like, hey,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: thanks for having me over. I'm gonna fuck up your
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: whole house. They're like Rick James and that freaking uh
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: that Dave Chappelle's catchy couch y couch. They should have
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: never given you nice thing. Don't remember that. I don't
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: have no but I do remember the what the party?
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: I don't remember that day. The Rick James of course,
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: the best bits ever, that's just hilarious. I'm yeah, hilarious. Exact.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: Doesn't remember it, Zach, you don't remember it. I remember
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: it vaguely. I don't remember Jack. You don't remember the
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: Rick James sketch. I remember him in the Outfit and
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: I remember him saying rip Jane's bitch, but I don't
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: remember the skit word for word. Like, oh man, you
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: have iTunes right, just please watch it. I got the iTunes. Okay,
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: speaking of iTunes, I watched this episode on iTunes and
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: they removed the Gavin Degrass song followed Through, which is
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: such a great song. Yeah, it wasn't on the end
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: of Hulu on Hulu either, So if you watch this episode, guys,
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: you got to By the way, speaking, that's true, we
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: got Randall on the show. Randall, you were the one
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: you told us last time who was picking these fucking
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: aftermarket songs. Yes, I did not pick the spot, I know,
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: but you, but you, you, you yourself went back to
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: this episode and said, okay, we got to lose Gavin
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: DeGraw follow Through. Let me put in this one, Randall.
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: It's not a good song and what I had to
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: choose from. No, I'm sure with whoever the artist is,
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: I'm sure you're very talented. It just wasn't the right
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: song for the right moment. And Gavin's song follow through
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: his epic It's the way it works out too and
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: oh this is side of something good, don't you don't
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: you agree? Oh it crushes at that moment too, having
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: felt like this and so many moons, Hey, you know
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: what I mean? And we can build through this destruction
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: whatever the fuck he says after that. So if if
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: you have, you have to follow through that. Dude, where
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: the fuck is Gavin? Gavin's always around, Dude. I know
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: he works and stuff, but I just remember when we
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: were friends with Gavin. We are still friends with Gavin. Man,
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: I'd run I'd run into Gavin out and about and
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: he's I was a dinner one are running anyone out
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: and about? Well not now, but I ran into Gavin
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: out and about in Texas one night. He was there
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: with some of his friends and I was there with
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: my wife and h and my kids and my father
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: in law, and Gavin came up to the table where
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: we were sitting to come say hi and talk to
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: everybody at the table. I was once walking down the
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: street in New York City and ran into him, his
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: mother and his father on the street. I run into
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: Gavin so much. It's ridiculous. Man, I love that guy
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: and I wish and he fucking writes night shit and
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: he can write a song like he writes a fucking
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: great hooky pop song. You know, all we should do.
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: We should see if iHeart and Gavin would let us
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: play follow through at the end of this episode. Well
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: that's a good idea, but I already had a plan
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: for the song at the end of this episode. Oh
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: you want to play some of that freaking Lett Lawren. Yeah,
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: I'm gonna play Charlotte. It's it's a bop. Have you
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: heard it? That's what we call it. Let's let's get
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: into this because we're going along. We've we finished the
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: show pretty much. I mean, there's a couple of there's
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: a few more things. Stay on because we talk about
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: our mind, you can stay on and kick it with us. Um,
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: So let's get into it. Let's talk about this Jordan
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: Cox uh won't fight situation and how that turned in.
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: That's like it was like sex for Cox. That's how
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: much he needed the freaking the confrontation. He needed to
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: have somebody fight with him so bad. And then the
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: great the great joke was at the end of it
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: where he tries to get uh Carla to fight with
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: him and she's like, I'm getting married tomorrow. There's no way. Yeah,
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: he's turned on my arguing. I think that must come
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: from Bill and Chris's real life. Some people are they need,
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: they need, they need confrontation to get all riled up.
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: If their Twitter interactions or any sign, I think you're right, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: they argued on Twitter. That's the that's their stick, and
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: they'll be sitting there next to each other having an
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: argument on Twitter. And Bill was very very specific about
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: when when Cox says you reminded of your mother, and yeah,
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: that was like you gave her a line reading that
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: was funny. Though your shot was clever there Randall. She right,
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: she sort of rises up into into a close up
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: and that moment that's good. Um, I got goose bumps.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: When we're at we're at the dinner party and you're
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: telling me how you really feel about Judy just you
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: fucked up the speech you did when Harry mentally and
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: you're just you're sitting there and you're talking to me
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: about what you really love about her, and I go,
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: maybe you should say that and then you kind of
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: stand up. I like got goose bumps on my legs.
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: I thought it was moving. I thought you did great too.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: I thought you were amazing at that moment. Also, ok,
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: the final um stunt in that in that scene, you know,
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: she hits him and he goes flying over the table
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: and this is my I remember this one. I remember
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: this and it was late at night. It was late
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: at night. It was like me right, it was a
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: stunt man and the stunt man and everybody wanted to
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: go home. And he goes flying over the table and
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: if I remember, he was like bleeding a little bit
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: and he was like he was like, he was like
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: I can do this better. He's like like please, He's
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: like I gotta do this better. You gotta let me
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: do it again. And I was like, this is so weird,
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: Like I can't. I was like it was. It was
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: one of those things where it was like it was
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: like it was like we don't have it, but we
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: don't have time to get it. We've got very little.
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: It was like one of those things where we have
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: very little set left, we only have one take at
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: this It's like the reset was gonna take forever, and
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: it was like it was like I remember, I remember that.
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: I remember watching him being like that stunt didn't work,
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: and I didn't remember like, oh shit, that's right. That
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: was the night that like he this dude was begging
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: for another take wasn't yes, but it was late and
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: we were like, bro, it's gonna take like a half
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: hour turn around in urgent care. Turn around in urgent care.
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: That was a different episode. That was urgent Care. Yeah.
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: I want to say something. If you you you never
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: cut to Todd. This is one mistake you made in
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: directing this episode. This was the best, the best part
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: of the episode. You never cut to Todd's outfit at
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: the at the at the rehearsal dinner, which you only
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: see in a wide shot if you're watching, you have
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: to part. I laughed so hard at that. I look
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: at He's in a black He's in a black leather
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: trench coat with the butterfly color. Butterfly color. It's open.
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: I did not get he only has one line in
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: the whole show. I mean, oh yeah, but it's not
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: in the outfit. The outfit has never got to Oh
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: my god, I paused laugh. I laughed at that show
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: hard when he gets pushed over the table and free.
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: That's beautiful. The least happy people in that scene were
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: Alma and Rob because they was like they had nothing
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: to do and it was but yeah, I didn't even
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: know they were in the scene until they She's pouring
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: the champagne and then he gets pushed over the table. Right.
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: But it was but it was like a freaking down
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: nabby dinner scene. Everybody had to stay. Everybody was there. Yeah,
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: and there were people like the there are people that
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: have lines in the next episode that have to be
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: in the scene and don't have lines. I remember Hattie
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: Winston was supposed to be there and she's not there
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: playing my mom. Someone else is there playing my mom
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: and they and we just never shot that side of
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: the family. We never shot the person. The person that's
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: supposed to be d L. If you notice has the
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: dreads and everything, but it's not d L. Hugeley. That was.
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: That was a very interesting they had. They had her
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: sisters there. I recognized them, but no, they just had
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: Candice was the only one that was there and sister.
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: It was just Candies that was there. Her sister's not
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: in the scene. Her actual twin sister is not in
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: the scene. Everybody also enters again in the next episode,
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: so my mom shows up again in the next episode.
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: Uh d l doesn't show up again in the next episode,
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: but my mom does. There you go. We you know,
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: it was weird interesting that we never ever took the
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: opportunity to decide who uh Turk's dad was. Uh yeah,
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: my mother was not. I think it would have been interesting.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: I think it was Leonard in the security yard in
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: a plot twist. Well, I think we did it. Guys, right,
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: that's the episode. All right, listen, um, we like Randall.
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: Thank you so much for coming on. We love you
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: so much, thank you, thank you for having me and
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: continued blessings on all the wonderful things happening in your career.
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: And and you're such an amazing man, Randall. I love
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: you so much. Man, You're such an amazing man. Like,
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: thank you so much for all that you've You know,
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: Randall hits me up every once in a while and
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: it's like, yo, I got some then do you want
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: to come and play? And I just appreciate you so much, brother, man,
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: Thank you so so Why don't you have him on
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: mixed it's not it's not up to him. Man, he's
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: he's it's not he's not the one. He's got Donald
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: on this ship. He's got the ear of the show runner.
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: He could say, this would be great for Donald, Randall,
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: what the fuck do you think I have? I've never
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: said there's a there's there's a whole lot of there's
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: a whole lot of things that come in. I think
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: you'd maybe as a professor Donald, sassy, professor Donald with
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: patches on his head, Like, can I be the weed
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: like the dude who teaches like how to grow marijuana
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: at the college. Yeah, Donald, Donald's just looking to play himself.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: I just want to be a stoner. Could the character
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: be super it's about a bunch of stone like her
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: dad's kind of like a stoner. Like I love that.
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: I'm trying to get you a job. And you're like,
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: could the character be high? Randall, make it happen. Keep
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: it in the family, Randall, keep it in the family.
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: All right. We love you guys out with um Charlotte, Lawrence,
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: Bill and Christ's daughter, as most of you know, is
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: a is a singer. And you know sometimes your friends
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: or your friend's kid puts out a song and you
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: and you and you, and you try and promote it
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: because you feel obligated. Well, this song is a bop,
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: as they say, Randall, that's what the kids say. Okay,
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: it's called talk you Down. It's Charlotte Lawrence here she is, uh,
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: we love you all. We'll see you next time. You're
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: saying that she kiss me. But you're talking, isn't it.
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: You're saying that there's no way I can stop it?
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: Good kind of chomping. Yeah, what's yours is moments, take
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: you down, make before you walking, baking, I'm sense it.
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: Maybe I swear water take you Do you think that
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: I might be breaking? Let me break it to you.
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: You have to my Davis and panic. I gotta lose
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: you in the smalling. Oh it's only you, I know
