- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready for another episode of Learn Spanish with Fexingo? Luna: Oh, you know it! I've been practicing from last time. I still remember 'Necesito algo para el dolor de cabeza.' That one's useful. Lucas: Yeah, that's a good one. And you know what? If Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Spanish, we have a way you can keep these episodes coming. A couple of dollars a month at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo really makes a difference. It helps us keep the show ad-free and focused on teaching. Luna: Totally. Even a tiny bit helps, and it means we can keep making these lessons. So thanks to anyone who supports us. Lucas: Alright, today we're going to talk about school supplies. Things you might use in a classroom or while studying. Luna: Oh, like pencils and notebooks? I'm always losing those. Lucas: Right. Let's start with a basic one: 'el lápiz.' That means pencil. Luna: El lápiz. Lucas: Good. Now, 'el libro' — book. Luna: El libro. That's an easy one. Lucas: Exactly. Next, 'la mochila' — backpack. Luna: La mochila. Oh, I had a bright red one in school. Lucas: Nice. Now 'el cuaderno' — notebook. Luna: El cuaderno. That's like a little book for writing, right? Lucas: Exactly. And 'la goma de borrar' — eraser. Luna: La goma de borrar. That's a mouthful. Lucas: It is. Let's break it down: goma de borrar. You'll hear it often. Luna: Goma de borrar. Okay, I think I've got it. Lucas: Let's put them together in a sentence: 'Tengo un lápiz.' I have a pencil. Luna: Tengo un lápiz. So 'tengo' means 'I have'? Lucas: Yeah, from the verb 'tener.' We covered that before. So 'Tengo un libro' would be I have a book. Luna: Tengo un libro. And 'Tengo una mochila'? Lucas: Perfect. 'Una' because mochila is feminine. So 'Tengo una mochila.' Luna: Tengo una mochila. These are starting to feel natural. Luna: ¿Tienes un lápiz? Oh, that's useful. What if I need an eraser? Lucas: Then say: '¿Tienes una goma de borrar?' Luna: ¿Tienes una goma de borrar? I'll try that. Lucas: And if they say 'Sí, aquí tienes' — Yes, here you go — you can say 'Gracias.' Luna: Simple enough. Let me practice all five: el lápiz, el libro, la mochila, el cuaderno, la goma de borrar. Lucas: You got it. Let's hear them one more time from you. Luna: El lápiz, el libro, la mochila, el cuaderno, la goma de borrar. Lucas: Perfect. Now, can you say 'I have a notebook'? Luna: Tengo un cuaderno. Lucas: Yes! And 'I have an eraser'? Luna: Tengo una goma de borrar. Lucas: Excellent. You're really getting the hang of this. Luna: Thanks! These are words I'll actually use when I study Spanish. Lucas: For sure. Practice them throughout the day. Think about what's in your backpack and say the Spanish words. Luna: Good idea. I'll label my stuff. Lucas: That's a great tip. Alright, that's all for today's episode. Remember, if you want to support the show, buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Practice these words and we'll see you next time. Luna: See you later! ¡Hasta luego!
