  Speaker 1: Good Friday morning. As you head into this day, remember

  Speaker 1: God is there. He's real. He's involved in your life,

  Speaker 1: and His word, the Bible, is just full of truth
• 0:18
  Speaker 1: for life, not just truth for some theologian's brain somewhere
• 0:23
  Speaker 1: in a seminary somewhere.
• 0:26
  Speaker 1: No truth for your life today. God wants to affect
• 0:30
  Speaker 1: and impact your life. That's what it means to be
• 0:33
  Speaker 1: a Christian. We know God. We love God. God's involved
• 0:38
  Speaker 1: in our lives, and it makes life so awesome to
• 0:43
  Speaker 1: walk in step with God and His Holy Spirit in
• 0:46
  Speaker 1: our lives.
• 0:48
  Speaker 1: Well, today we're looking at 2 Peter chapter 3 in
• 0:53
  Speaker 1: the Bible, and all this week we've been looking at
• 0:56
  Speaker 1: this chapter that talks about the fact that Jesus Christ
• 0:59
  Speaker 1: will return to this world one day, not as a
• 1:03
  Speaker 1: suffering uh saviour.
• 1:05
  Speaker 1: Who's going to die on the cross for our sins,
• 1:07
  Speaker 1: but this time as God, the Son, the ruler of
• 1:10
  Speaker 1: the universe, who is going to hold this world accountable
• 1:16
  Speaker 1: for the way that we have responded to Him and
• 1:19
  Speaker 1: dealt with the things in our life. Well, people say,
• 1:22
  Speaker 1: I don't know if that's going to happen. That's what
• 1:25
  Speaker 1: Peter says in this chapter. It seems like he's never
• 1:28
  Speaker 1: coming back.
• 1:29
  Speaker 1: And Peter says, Well, it may seem like that, but
• 1:32
  Speaker 1: that's just because he's waiting and giving more and more
• 1:35
  Speaker 1: people a chance to turn their lives around and respond
• 1:39
  Speaker 1: to him. He loves them. He doesn't want them to
• 1:42
  Speaker 1: face judgement. He wants them to face forgiveness, grace, mercy,
• 1:47
  Speaker 1: and love.
• 1:49
  Speaker 1: But if people will not respond to that, then they
• 1:52
  Speaker 1: will face judgement.
• 1:55
  Speaker 1: He closes off his chapter like this.
• 1:58
  Speaker 1: But according to his promise, he's just talked about the
• 2:03
  Speaker 1: fact that God has promised to come back and hold
• 2:07
  Speaker 1: this world accountable, to destroy all things. But there's also
• 2:12
  Speaker 1: another promise. According to His promise, we are waiting for
• 2:16
  Speaker 1: new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
• 2:22
  Speaker 1: When God first made this world, it was perfect, beautiful.
• 2:25
  Speaker 1: And awesome, and we lived in it in a beautiful
• 2:29
  Speaker 1: relationship with God. But when that first man and woman
• 2:32
  Speaker 1: pushed God away out of their lives, this universe became
• 2:36
  Speaker 1: broken both in the natural level and the spiritual level,
• 2:41
  Speaker 1: and people's hearts and lives became broken. So it became
• 2:45
  Speaker 1: natural for them to hurt one another, to live for themselves,
• 2:49
  Speaker 1: and we find the repercussions of that reverberating through our
• 2:54
  Speaker 1: lives today, don't we.
• 2:56
  Speaker 1: But when God comes back and He judges this world
• 3:01
  Speaker 1: and He separates out those who have responded to Him
• 3:04
  Speaker 1: and had their lives made new from those who haven't,
• 3:07
  Speaker 1: He's going to make new heavens and a new earth,
• 3:10
  Speaker 1: not broken and fallen, a beautiful place for us to
• 3:14
  Speaker 1: live in.
• 3:15
  Speaker 1: And Peter goes on to say, therefore, beloved, since you
• 3:18
  Speaker 1: are waiting for these things, be diligent to be found
• 3:22
  Speaker 1: by Him without spot or blemish and at peace, and
• 3:27
  Speaker 1: count the patience of our Lord, the fact he's taking
• 3:31
  Speaker 1: so long to come back. Count it as salvation because
• 3:35
  Speaker 1: He's waiting to give more people a chance to be saved.
• 3:40
  Speaker 1: The last verse of the chapter then says, but grow
• 3:45
  Speaker 1: in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and saviour
• 3:49
  Speaker 1: Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and
• 3:54
  Speaker 1: to the day of eternity.
• 3:57
  Speaker 1: So as you continue in this waiting time before Jesus
• 4:02
  Speaker 1: comes back, don't just sit back and say, Well, there's
• 4:04
  Speaker 1: nothing I can do then. No, grow in the grace
• 4:08
  Speaker 1: of the Lord Jesus Christ. Become a person who is
• 4:12
  Speaker 1: so aware of Jesus' grace in your life that it
• 4:16
  Speaker 1: overflows from you, and you are a person of grace.
• 4:20
  Speaker 1: A person who isn't negative towards everyone around you, holding
• 4:24
  Speaker 1: them accountable for the way that they've been treating you,
• 4:28
  Speaker 1: but a person who shows grace to those around you.
• 4:32
  Speaker 1: Grow also in your knowledge of the Lord, your personal
• 4:36
  Speaker 1: knowledge of this person that means so much to you.
• 4:40
  Speaker 1: Focus in on showing God's grace to those around you
• 4:44
  Speaker 1: and on knowing Him better.
• 4:47
