- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, speaking of the towels, does anybody else work at
- 0:03Speaker 1: this B and B besides Noah? Is he the chef
- 0:06Speaker 1: and the bookkeeper and right the receptionist and housekeeping?
- 0:27Speaker 2: Hey?
- 0:27Speaker 1: Everyone, welcome to you Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast.
- 0:30Speaker 1: I'm Megan and I'm a lifelong Hallmark movie fan. I'm

- 1:06Speaker 1: talking about Hallmark Love. It such a fun place to be.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Or if you want to email us at any time,
- 1:12Speaker 1: it's Megan and Wendy at gmail dot com. Let's do
- 1:16Speaker 1: some Hallmark news and notes First up, big news in
- 1:18Speaker 1: the entertainment industry as a whole. The WGA, the Writers
- 1:23Speaker 1: Guild of America, is on strike officially. We talked about
- 1:28Speaker 1: that coming down the pipeline last week, and it officially happened.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Some insight from some of our Hallmark writers. First of all,
- 1:37Speaker 1: Nina Wine Minsmith commented that Hallmark among other networks, were
- 1:41Speaker 1: stuckpiling scripts before the strike so they could keep working.
- 1:45Speaker 1: I have a thought on that in a minute. And
- 1:48Speaker 1: Julie Sherman, Wolf, friend of the show, says, twenty five
- 1:51Speaker 1: years on the WGA, and I have never felt so
- 1:54Speaker 1: strongly that this is the hill to die on, especially
- 1:57Speaker 1: for younger writers. If we don't get this, it'll be
- 2:00Speaker 1: impossible to make a living in the very near future.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I want to make a comment on the stockpiling script thing. Please,
- 2:07Speaker 1: do you, I know you watched Friday Night Lights. Do
- 2:10Speaker 1: you recall season two of Friday Night Lights? That's the
- 2:13Speaker 1: Landry Murders a Dude season. I don't recall off hand. Okay, well,
- 2:19Speaker 1: Landry Murders a Dude in like defense of Tyra. Are
- 2:24Speaker 1: you remembering this at all?
- 2:25Speaker 2: This is right?
- 2:25Speaker 1: Yes? Now that rings a bell in my mind. I
- 2:28Speaker 1: knew that that had happened on that season. I knew
- 2:31Speaker 1: that there was a writers strike that was involved by Hoops.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I looked it up this morning to get a little
- 2:35Speaker 1: more contacts and what happened on that show. First of all,
- 2:38Speaker 1: there were only fifteen of twenty two episodes because they
- 2:41Speaker 1: had fifteen episodes written after episode five is when the
- 2:45Speaker 1: strike started, so there were no writers on staff. So
- 2:48Speaker 1: they had ten episodes written but no writing staff. Well,
- 2:52Speaker 1: the audience did not enjoy the Landry murder storyline, but
- 2:57Speaker 1: with no writers on staff to course craw and change
- 3:00Speaker 1: things around and make it work, they just had to
- 3:02Speaker 1: follow it through. Many many viewers of Friday Night, It's
- 3:06Speaker 1: considered season two to be like in an alternate timeline,
- 3:09Speaker 1: like it's just such a bizarre you could completely lift
- 3:12Speaker 1: it out of the show, with the exception of Tammy
- 3:15Speaker 1: Taylor's postpartum experience, which I think was a great representation
- 3:18Speaker 1: on television. Anyway, my comment is having scripts is not
- 3:23Speaker 1: the be all end all without writers on staff during
- 3:27Speaker 1: pre production and the production of these films, who can
- 3:31Speaker 1: make changes on the fly or as necessary. Yeah, so
- 3:35Speaker 1: about the stop piling though, does that mean then Hallmark
- 3:39Speaker 1: was like, Hey, we need fifteen Christmas movies or twenty
- 3:42Speaker 1: five Christmas movies, so let's start asking our writers to
- 3:45Speaker 1: put those out in anticipation of the strike. I don't
- 3:50Speaker 1: know the logistics or if they were just purchasing earlier
- 3:55Speaker 1: than they might have been seeking them out, buying more
- 3:59Speaker 1: ahead of time. I don't know. Obviously, Hallmark isn't talking
- 4:02Speaker 1: about what they have ready to go for the countdown
- 4:05Speaker 1: to Christmas season. We know several movies have been made.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I'm on the side of the writers in this. We
- 4:11Speaker 1: want the outcome that they want. Yes, you know two things.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I read an article in either Variety or Deadline yesterday
- 4:19Speaker 1: that some studios are telling showrunners that even if you
- 4:24Speaker 1: are a showrunner and you are also a writer, you
- 4:28Speaker 1: may have to cross picket lines because as a showrunner
- 4:31Speaker 1: you need to be on set. Yeah. I don't envy
- 4:35Speaker 1: every other trade in all of this, because, on the
- 4:38Speaker 1: one hand, outside of the executives, you have so many
- 4:43Speaker 1: other crew who are counting on these shows and these
- 4:46Speaker 1: movies to continue to get made. Right, there are so
- 4:48Speaker 1: many people whose jobs are affected, And so what do
- 4:52Speaker 1: you do as a showrunner in that position who wants
- 4:57Speaker 1: to stand on the side of the writers, but also
- 4:59Speaker 1: want to keep people employed. I don't envy the position
- 5:03Speaker 1: people are put in right now. No, And I also
- 5:06Speaker 1: read that the strike from seven to eight lasted one
- 5:10Speaker 1: hundred days. We're at like a week a week now,
- 5:14Speaker 1: I think seven days or something like that. Yeah, I
- 5:17Speaker 1: just have a hard time believing it's going to be
- 5:20Speaker 1: a quick revolution, given makes what was happening ahead of time.
- 5:24Speaker 1: So yikes, what else we got? I had a tweet
- 5:27Speaker 1: from sleep Kitty pot hmm. She recently tweeted about a
- 5:32Speaker 1: Rachel Lee Cook and Sam Paige movie. And if you're
- 5:36Speaker 1: wondering who Sam Page is, that's Richard Hunter from The
- 5:39Speaker 1: Bowl Type. Yes, I love Richard, I know, so cute.
- 5:42Speaker 1: They're currently filming a movie called Rescuing Christmas in Duluth,
- 5:47Speaker 1: Minnesota right now, And looking at the tweets a little
- 5:51Speaker 1: bit closer, it looks like Rachel Lee Cook signed to
- 5:54Speaker 1: deal with mar Vista, who I believe is like a
- 5:56Speaker 1: production company, and they will like shop this movie to
- 6:01Speaker 1: streaming outlets. I guess that's what they did last year
- 6:04Speaker 1: they sold some movies to Hulu. So we're not sure
- 6:08Speaker 1: if this is going to be a Hallmark movie, but
- 6:10Speaker 1: you never know, considering the state of all things right now, sure,
- 6:14Speaker 1: which is kind of weird. Rachel Lee Cook and Sam
- 6:18Speaker 1: Page seems like it would be a Hallmark movie, Like
- 6:22Speaker 1: I can't imagine that as like a Hulu movie. Maybe
- 6:26Speaker 1: not Hulu, but there were Discovery plus Christmas movies. There
- 6:31Speaker 1: are so many services buying Christmas movies that in this vein,
- 6:36Speaker 1: I think it could go any number of places. Yes,
- 6:38Speaker 1: who knows? Who knows? Yeah, you got ratings? Yeah, so,
- 6:42Speaker 1: last week's Hearts in the Game had one point five
- 6:44Speaker 1: million live viewers, making it the third most watched cable
- 6:47Speaker 1: program of the night, behind only basketball. As of the
- 6:51Speaker 1: recording of this episode, we do not have ratings information
- 6:54Speaker 1: for when Love Springs available. I have some Hallmark divorce news,
- 6:59Speaker 1: kind of under the radar. People magazine announced on April
- 7:03Speaker 1: tenth that Victor Webster filed four divorce from his wife
- 7:07Speaker 1: of two years, Chantelle van Santon. They met in twenty
- 7:11Speaker 1: seventeen on the set of the homework movie Love Blossoms.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Kind of sad. I yes, I guess they got married
- 7:21Speaker 1: during like twenty twenty. Like they had a bunch of
- 7:23Speaker 1: like small ceremonies. I guess relationship ships aren't always meant
- 7:27Speaker 1: to last. No, and not everybody wants the end of
- 7:30Speaker 1: their relationship to be a headline. No. But I'm so
- 7:35Speaker 1: kind of surprised that people pick this up. But I
- 7:38Speaker 1: don't know how we missed it. I mean, Victor Webster, real,
- 7:42Speaker 1: wowie s howie real nice to see back on the market. Sorry,
- 7:47Speaker 1: not that it matters to me at all. Let's hear
- 7:50Speaker 1: a synopsis for When Love Springs Sure, A junior pr
- 7:55Speaker 1: professional arrives at a quaint B and B for her
- 7:58Speaker 1: parents vow renewal and runs into a former flame who
- 8:02Speaker 1: broke her heart. Panicked and afraid of humiliation, she pretends
- 8:06Speaker 1: the B and B owner is her new boyfriend. Oh no,
- 8:10Speaker 1: this is my new boyfriend. Be jealous, hy. This was
- 8:14Speaker 1: filmed on location in Brisbane, Australia in December twenty twenty two.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Keeping in mind that is the Southern Hemisphere, so it
- 8:21Speaker 1: would have been summer in Australia when this was filmed. Well,
- 8:25Speaker 1: you know a little behind the scenes here. Megan compiled
- 8:28Speaker 1: the notes for this movie and I was like, this
- 8:31Speaker 1: was filmed in Australia, Like I had no idea, but
- 8:36Speaker 1: she's like, hey, Demi, everybody had an Australian accent, candn't
- 8:39Speaker 1: you hear it? And yes, there were some weird words.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Pretty much I'm summarizing, but yeah, everybody had kind of
- 8:47Speaker 1: a weird American accent. Yes, Marianna and Fish plays Rory.
- 8:52Speaker 1: We saw her most recently and a picture of her
- 8:55Speaker 1: alongside King of Hallmark. Tyler Hines also been a handful
- 9:01Speaker 1: of other Hallmark movies, including Nikki and Nora, Sister Sluice,
- 9:05Speaker 1: and The Twenty seven Hour Day. And that is the
- 9:09Speaker 1: point at which we end kind of our Hallmark connections.
- 9:12Speaker 1: There's tons of Hallmark movies on the crew because this
- 9:14Speaker 1: movie was an acquisition. I believe. It's directed by Joanne Bretchin.
- 9:20Speaker 1: She has fifteen directing credits. This is her first for
- 9:22Speaker 1: Hallmark and she was the director of the Australian TV
- 9:26Speaker 1: series Miss Inc, which is a documentary about the Miss
- 9:29Speaker 1: inc Australia pageant which celebrates tattooed women. Question for you,
- 9:35Speaker 1: this movie wasn't in the original May lineup, was it?
- 9:39Speaker 1: I don't know. I didn't write that post. I wrote it. Okay,
- 9:42Speaker 1: We're still in spring and to love though, right it
- 9:44Speaker 1: was movie Spring into Love movie. I don't think it
- 9:47Speaker 1: was originally slated, but I could be wrong. I just
- 9:51Speaker 1: I'm purely going off of memory here and Next Up
- 9:53Speaker 1: written by Ainsley Gordon, who has twelve writing credits and
- 9:57Speaker 1: twenty eight acting credits. She both wrote and starred in
- 10:01Speaker 1: Love on the Reef. Noah in this movie is played
- 10:05Speaker 1: by James William o'haller, and he's a little bit of
- 10:08Speaker 1: a newbie actor as twenty five acting credits, although many
- 10:10Speaker 1: of them are guest spots on sitcoms like Single Parents, Superstore,
- 10:14Speaker 1: and The Mendi Project where he plays hot Man Number two.
- 10:17Speaker 1: He was also a model on The Price Is Right. Okay,
- 10:21Speaker 1: so he's an Australian, but he was a model on
- 10:24Speaker 1: the US Price Is Right? Yes, and Single Parents, in
- 10:28Speaker 1: Superstore and The Mini Project are all US shows. So
- 10:32Speaker 1: is he Australian or maybe like born in Australia but
- 10:35Speaker 1: like works here in La I hear you typing? In
- 10:39Speaker 1: twenty fourteen is when he moved to the United States.
- 10:42Speaker 1: That's when he auditioned for The Price Is Right. And
- 10:44Speaker 1: he was only the second male model on The Price
- 10:47Speaker 1: Is Right. M that's a lot longer than I thought
- 10:50Speaker 1: they've been doing that. I watched a lot of the
- 10:52Speaker 1: Prices right in my elementary school home shit from school day.
- 10:56Speaker 1: We didn't not as much lately. I was actually I
- 11:00Speaker 1: used to learn that they even had male models. No
- 11:03Speaker 1: more Barker's Beauties. Oh god, gross right mm hmmm. Kellen
- 11:08Speaker 1: Colly plays Jason. He's even more of a newbie. He
- 11:12Speaker 1: only has six acting credits, including two episodes of the
- 11:15Speaker 1: Netflix series The let Down. Renee Herbert plays the sister Cleo,
- 11:19Speaker 1: who also has six acting credits, although they are mostly
- 11:22Speaker 1: music videos and short films. I just watched these movies
- 11:26Speaker 1: and I look at their IMDBs and I'm like, is
- 11:28Speaker 1: this going to be the launching point? Like this is
- 11:30Speaker 1: the biggest thing she's done at this point? Is she
- 11:33Speaker 1: gonna be a big star? I have some notes on
- 11:35Speaker 1: her a little bit Laterki. Finally, Aaron Connor plays mom
- 11:40Speaker 1: Lelah Richard. She has forty two acting credits, mostly Australian
- 11:43Speaker 1: TV series, none of which we've heard of. No, I apologize,
- 11:47Speaker 1: I'm not familiar with Australian TV. No. What's your first
- 11:50Speaker 1: impression of When Love Springs? Is that polka dot dress
- 11:54Speaker 1: iconic or what? Yes? I saw you put something out
- 11:59Speaker 1: on our Our girl's gone a Hallmark Instagram about it,
- 12:02Speaker 1: and it made me wonder. Pretty Women came out in
- 12:04Speaker 1: nineteen ninety, thirty three years ago, we're still talking about
- 12:08Speaker 1: this dress. Yeah, what I need to know is why.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I mean, it's such an obvious, iconic moment, right down
- 12:16Speaker 1: to the hat. If she hadn't had the hat, it
- 12:18Speaker 1: wouldn't necessarily have driven home that this is a homage
- 12:23Speaker 1: to that dress. But I couldn't figure out why. Like
- 12:28Speaker 1: when we had the Carrie Bradshaw outfit she was in Paris.
- 12:32Speaker 1: That's an outfit that Carrie Bradshaw wore in Paris. That
- 12:36Speaker 1: makes sense. Maybe because in Pretty Woman she played his
- 12:41Speaker 1: did she play his fake girlfriend at that polo event?
- 12:46Speaker 1: I just think it's a stretch. I'm just very curious
- 12:49Speaker 1: what the motivation was for you. Although it was was
- 12:51Speaker 1: a fun moment, my first impression is the best part
- 12:53Speaker 1: of this movie is playing spot that Australian accent. Yeah, sorry,
- 12:57Speaker 1: I didn't mean I ruined that earlier for you didn't
- 13:00Speaker 1: ruin any of it. Okay, let's talk about what you
- 13:03Speaker 1: liked about this movie, because I'm sensing you didn't like it.
- 13:07Speaker 1: It's not my favorite Hallmark movie ever, but I watched
- 13:09Speaker 1: Horse movies this week, so I liked that Ryann and
- 13:12Speaker 1: Fish gets to show off some comedy here. I think
- 13:17Speaker 1: I like her more in a comedy role than in
- 13:21Speaker 1: the peer romance role. Hmmm, interesting take. Let me preface
- 13:27Speaker 1: this with saying that I think she sometimes leans very
- 13:31Speaker 1: hard into that baby voice, which drives me absolutely Banana's.
- 13:35Speaker 1: But she is Rhann and Fish becoming one of my
- 13:38Speaker 1: favorites to watch. I think she's very enjoyable on screen.
- 13:43Speaker 1: I agree at one, I think she's stunning. Two, I
- 13:46Speaker 1: think she's a good actor. Despite I read a lot
- 13:48Speaker 1: of criticism that people that she was too over the
- 13:51Speaker 1: top at the beginning of this movie, she didn't really
- 13:55Speaker 1: bother me. That style didn't bother me with this in
- 13:58Speaker 1: this movie. No, what else did you like? I loved
- 14:02Speaker 1: Sister Cleo. Yeah, talk about another stunning face. Like these
- 14:06Speaker 1: girls were so beautiful together. And I'm kind of hoping
- 14:10Speaker 1: this does become a launching pad for her. However, I'm
- 14:13Speaker 1: thinking it's probably not going to be. We will never
- 14:16Speaker 1: see her on Hallmark again because she is an Australian
- 14:19Speaker 1: actress who's only done a small cuple little things, and
- 14:22Speaker 1: since this was filmed in Australia, it was acquired by Hallmark.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Right that was She's making the big move. I liked
- 14:34Speaker 1: Melody the Boss because she's played by Francesca Savage, and
- 14:40Speaker 1: I think one of the things this movie does, perhaps
- 14:44Speaker 1: not very well, but there are so many Hallmark tropes
- 14:47Speaker 1: in this movie, and she is the mean Hallmark boss
- 14:51Speaker 1: to a te I just think she was like, this
- 14:54Speaker 1: is my role, I'm gonna lean into it. She made
- 14:56Speaker 1: me uncomfortable when she was yelling at her. I really
- 14:59Speaker 1: liked her, you know who. I really liked Aaron Connor,
- 15:02Speaker 1: who plays Leilah Richards, the mom Rory's mom. And I
- 15:06Speaker 1: hope someday i'm cool like her because I'd probably lose
- 15:09Speaker 1: my shit if my kid told me she wasn't going
- 15:11Speaker 1: to be there for my wedding wedding bow renewal. I'm like,
- 15:15Speaker 1: she played it so cool, non reactive, supportive. I would
- 15:18Speaker 1: have been like, what you know, yeah, it would have
- 15:21Speaker 1: been a scene. Agree. She reminded me so much of
- 15:25Speaker 1: a childhood friend's mother. Her name's Judy, is a friend
- 15:29Speaker 1: of my mom's. Also. I just was like, oh, they're
- 15:32Speaker 1: just the same kind of cool. Nothing really ruffles their
- 15:36Speaker 1: feather's mom. I wish I was like that same. There's
- 15:40Speaker 1: a funny moment to me when Jason arrives at the
- 15:44Speaker 1: B and B and his new girlfriend walks in the surprise,
- 15:47Speaker 1: and it's so goofy, but they do this SlowMo reaction
- 15:52Speaker 1: over Rhiannon fish Rory's face and you can see in
- 15:57Speaker 1: the background Noah making this like wow like reacting to
- 16:02Speaker 1: her reaction of it. It's goofy, but it's real fun
- 16:07Speaker 1: I didn't notice that, but that's funny. That is funny.
- 16:10Speaker 1: You mentioned tropes and that this movie had a lot
- 16:13Speaker 1: of them. I'm gonna tell you I don't hate the
- 16:15Speaker 1: fake boyfriend trope, and let me explain why. One of
- 16:19Speaker 1: my all time favorite movies is a movie from nineteen
- 16:21Speaker 1: eighty seven called Can't Buy Me Love, Oh Yes, where
- 16:25Speaker 1: she hires Ronald, the next door neighbor to be her
- 16:29Speaker 1: boyfriend in exchange for money for an outfit that she
- 16:33Speaker 1: ruined that was belonged to her mom. Anyway, it's one
- 16:35Speaker 1: of my favorites, and I just think that trope was
- 16:37Speaker 1: imprinted on me at a very young age, so I
- 16:40Speaker 1: don't hate it. When I see it in Hallmark movies today. No,
- 16:43Speaker 1: I like the fake dating trope. However, I don't think
- 16:46Speaker 1: it was terribly well executed in this movie. I agree.
- 16:50Speaker 1: There's not a lot of moments, Like all of their
- 16:52Speaker 1: scenes are mostly just the two of them. There's very
- 16:55Speaker 1: little time where they have to pretend to be together
- 16:58Speaker 1: in front of other people. Right, So remember that movie,
- 17:01Speaker 1: is it The Wedding Date? Has that real cute guy
- 17:04Speaker 1: from my best friend's wedding and Mulroney, the redhead from
- 17:09Speaker 1: Deborah Messing. Yes, and she hires him to be her
- 17:13Speaker 1: fake boyfriend. Right, Yes, but they're in a lot of
- 17:16Speaker 1: scenes like with big groups of people having to sell
- 17:20Speaker 1: their relations Yes, that's kind of what I like in
- 17:22Speaker 1: a fake dating, pretend boyfriend situation is those scenes where
- 17:27Speaker 1: they have to pretend to be in a relationship, kind
- 17:29Speaker 1: of the moments that lead them to like, oh, this
- 17:31Speaker 1: feels supernatural. I actually like holding your hand and having
- 17:35Speaker 1: these conversations with you. One last thing, I really liked
- 17:38Speaker 1: Rory and Cleo's sister friendship. I just thought it was
- 17:41Speaker 1: nice they had each other, they can confide in each other. Yeah,
- 17:45Speaker 1: I liked it all right, ma'am. What'd you wish for?
- 17:49Speaker 1: So for me a couple things and only a few things,
- 17:52Speaker 1: which is funny because when I was like going through
- 17:54Speaker 1: this movie, I was like, I didn't didn't really love
- 17:56Speaker 1: it so much, but I'm not sure what I wished for,
- 17:59Speaker 1: Like it it's not doesn't line up, like okay, the
- 18:03Speaker 1: casting of the ex boyfriend Kellen Colly is how I'm
- 18:08Speaker 1: saying his last name. He looked all of eighteen years old,
- 18:11Speaker 1: like such a baby. I just thought he looked so young,
- 18:15Speaker 1: so much younger than her and whatever like whatever. But
- 18:19Speaker 1: I was like, he's supposed to be playing this like
- 18:23Speaker 1: very busy business guy. Didn't sell it to you, No,
- 18:26Speaker 1: it didn't sell it to me. And then I understand
- 18:29Speaker 1: why they needed him to show up at the B
- 18:31Speaker 1: and B to be the so the fake boyfriend line
- 18:34Speaker 1: could like unfold right, But it was just dumb. It
- 18:38Speaker 1: was just dumb, like it was a split decision that
- 18:41Speaker 1: was not great on her behalf. And finally, in this
- 18:46Speaker 1: little section, I feel like Rory the character is much
- 18:51Speaker 1: more confident than to have to pretend like she's dating
- 18:54Speaker 1: some innkeeper now, like there's no shame in being single,
- 18:58Speaker 1: Like why did she just like like she'd just be single. Well,
- 19:01Speaker 1: that is my number one wish that Rory would have
- 19:03Speaker 1: had a little more self respect, because you do not
- 19:06Speaker 1: need a man to make yourself look good to this
- 19:08Speaker 1: man who dumped you. You are enough on your own.
- 19:11Speaker 1: You don't need this random boyfriend. Right. And as we
- 19:15Speaker 1: saw it later on in the movie, when they had
- 19:17Speaker 1: like theirre like one on one like discussion after uh,
- 19:21Speaker 1: what's his name? Jason? Jason after his girl leaves, right,
- 19:26Speaker 1: him and Rory have this conversation and it was like, oh,
- 19:29Speaker 1: we were just like too. You know, they were not
- 19:32Speaker 1: on the same page, right, So there was.
- 19:33Speaker 2: No like, it wasn't like this bad breakup, right, It
- 19:38Speaker 2: just was like this relationship wasn't working out, So now
- 19:42Speaker 2: why are you feeling like so devastated?
- 19:45Speaker 1: Yeah, like he kind of ghosts her, but it didn't
- 19:47Speaker 1: make any sense why she would be all that interested
- 19:51Speaker 1: in getting him back, right, And my other wish is
- 19:55Speaker 1: that she didn't go check on Jason, like she sees
- 19:58Speaker 1: him have this breakup, She's like, I need to go
- 19:59Speaker 1: check on him. Why wait, you you don't owe him
- 20:04Speaker 1: your time or soothing his broken her after he kind
- 20:09Speaker 1: of was like as far as we could tell ghosted
- 20:12Speaker 1: her after this one year relationship, and then when they
- 20:15Speaker 1: have this conversation, he's just this kind of like nice
- 20:19Speaker 1: guy to her. And I was like, wait a minute,
- 20:20Speaker 1: where did that guy come from? Because that's not the
- 20:22Speaker 1: guy we saw walking in to the B and B
- 20:26Speaker 1: who didn't even remember that she was going to be
- 20:28Speaker 1: there for her parents' anniversary party. Mm hmm. I thought
- 20:32Speaker 1: that was odd, but heally, who cares if their actual
- 20:35Speaker 1: anniversary is on a Monday have the party on a weekend.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Why were they trying to do it on the same day,
- 20:42Speaker 1: like it had to be on a Monday because she
- 20:45Speaker 1: had to have a work conflict, which again didn't make
- 20:47Speaker 1: sense because this does not seem like the kind of
- 20:48Speaker 1: boss's going to have boundaries and care that she needs
- 20:50Speaker 1: you on a weekend. And second of all, they were like, oh,
- 20:54Speaker 1: good thing is on a Monday because only ten people
- 20:56Speaker 1: can come. What's the business are Yeah? Hey, why did
- 21:00Speaker 1: she have to lie to her parents about having this
- 21:02Speaker 1: fake boyfriend too? Like that was dumb too. That's a
- 21:05Speaker 1: good point. Why wouldn't you just say, oh my gosh,
- 21:07Speaker 1: I freaked out when I saw Jason, and I pretended
- 21:09Speaker 1: like this guy was my boyfriend mm hm. And her
- 21:12Speaker 1: parents would probably have been very cool with that, right.
- 21:15Speaker 1: They would have been like, you dummy and then laugh
- 21:18Speaker 1: at her. That would have been funnier to watch, Yes,
- 21:22Speaker 1: like their reaction to her trying to like pretend like
- 21:25Speaker 1: she had this relationship with this dude anyway. Yes, So
- 21:29Speaker 1: you talked about Rory's boss, right, uh huh. I think
- 21:32Speaker 1: there was reason to be angry at Rory this boss
- 21:36Speaker 1: because Rory did keep missing deadlines, right, uh huh. But
- 21:42Speaker 1: on the other hand, everyone deserves time off, and you're
- 21:46Speaker 1: telling me that Rory didn't request the appropriate time off
- 21:49Speaker 1: for this like big event in her parents' lives. See,
- 21:54Speaker 1: I fully believe that she did, and her boss was like,
- 21:56Speaker 1: too damn bad. I need you and I'm going to
- 21:58Speaker 1: make you work during this weekend. Okay. So then is
- 22:01Speaker 1: she not confident enough to like let her boss like
- 22:04Speaker 1: say like nope, well this is just all this, like, well,
- 22:09Speaker 1: if you want to be an executive with this firm,
- 22:12Speaker 1: then you need to do this, and blah blah blah blah. Yeah,
- 22:16Speaker 1: it's too much eyes on the prize of wanting to
- 22:18Speaker 1: be a partner and taking the abuse and not standing
- 22:21Speaker 1: up to her because she feels like she's going to
- 22:23Speaker 1: miss out on her opportunity, when we kind of know
- 22:26Speaker 1: that she's already missed out on her opportunity because she
- 22:28Speaker 1: makes a comment about how long she's been there without
- 22:31Speaker 1: getting the promotion she's been looking for. I have a
- 22:34Speaker 1: giant list of digitsu. That's how about you? So do I? Okay,
- 22:38Speaker 1: let's go, all right, you go first. First of all,
- 22:41Speaker 1: the basket of towels labeled towels. You know, I totally
- 22:45Speaker 1: did not see that. When she walks into her room,
- 22:48Speaker 1: there is a basket with a sign on it that
- 22:51Speaker 1: says towels, and it is empty, which is why she
- 22:53Speaker 1: then goes back downstairs. Right then he gives her one towel.
- 22:57Speaker 1: What oh yeah, what I need more than one towel, sir.
- 23:00Speaker 1: I need one for my body and one for my hair,
- 23:02Speaker 1: and one for my face and one for the floor.
- 23:04Speaker 1: What about one for my hands after I washed my
- 23:06Speaker 1: I mean yes, at least at least a stack of
- 23:09Speaker 1: like two towels and a handtowel at a minimum, right, right, Well,
- 23:14Speaker 1: speaking of the towels, does anybody else work at this
- 23:17Speaker 1: B and B besides Noah? Well, that's a great question,
- 23:21Speaker 1: because correspondent Mike did send his nice little email and
- 23:26Speaker 1: one of the things he pointed out is the staff
- 23:28Speaker 1: situation is super weird because it seems like a big
- 23:31Speaker 1: enough operation that he'd need employees. But the only time
- 23:34Speaker 1: we ever see them is in relation to food service, Yes,
- 23:38Speaker 1: and where are they the rest of the time? Bizarre? Yeah,
- 23:42Speaker 1: I did. I did note that. I was like, who
- 23:45Speaker 1: is mining the B and B because they say numerous
- 23:49Speaker 1: times like how slow it is, but there looks like
- 23:53Speaker 1: there's plenty of people in the background, like in the
- 23:55Speaker 1: dining scenes. Is he the chef and the bookkeeper and
- 24:00Speaker 1: right the receptionist and housekeeping? That was weird. And I
- 24:06Speaker 1: gotta tell you, like that whole thing where who puts
- 24:08Speaker 1: headphones on when you know that you have a guest coming?
- 24:11Speaker 1: We have guests checking in? Right? What else? You got
- 24:14Speaker 1: Rory's desk in her office? There's not a single cord
- 24:16Speaker 1: under her desk not low Oh yeah, it was kind
- 24:18Speaker 1: of like out in the middle of the like open space, right, yeah,
- 24:22Speaker 1: No lamp nothing, no, like, no, there's no plugs on
- 24:28Speaker 1: the floor that they're plugging into. Nope. When they were
- 24:31Speaker 1: making bouquets for the wedding. Yes, those are fake flowers,
- 24:35Speaker 1: of course, yeah, so fake, Like she's holding it up
- 24:38Speaker 1: and I'm like looking at the back of a fake leaf.
- 24:40Speaker 1: I was like, no, ma'am, those are not from granny's garden. Yeah,
- 24:44Speaker 1: and they picked the flowers like three days before the wedding.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Come on, why are they doing at the morning now? Seriously?
- 24:51Speaker 1: Speaking of the wedding, why is she asking about available
- 24:54Speaker 1: party space upon arriving at the B and B where
- 24:56Speaker 1: they're there to hold a party. Have they handled this
- 24:59Speaker 1: ahead of time? Mm hmm, I know she's like, Oh, yeah,
- 25:02Speaker 1: I'm gonna need like a space for like this small
- 25:05Speaker 1: gathering and ten chairs. Yeah, are you eating food after? Like?
- 25:10Speaker 1: I look like at the day of the party, like
- 25:13Speaker 1: they had some sort of like old timey record player
- 25:18Speaker 1: thing out there and flowers and chairs and all that.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Speaking of the wedding or vow renewal whatever, she is
- 25:27Speaker 1: wearing her shoulder purse while she is walking down the aisle.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Why wouldn't she have ditched that? And then she's in
- 25:35Speaker 1: this whole scene where she and Noah reunite and she's
- 25:38Speaker 1: still wearing it a purse. I know I have that, dude.
- 25:41Speaker 1: She only drops it when they're dancing. Finally, Yes, I
- 25:44Speaker 1: was like, well, that's so terrible for like photos, and like, right,
- 25:49Speaker 1: I don't want to hear purse in my renewal photos
- 25:54Speaker 1: bag clunking around as you're trying to walk down the aisle. No,
- 25:58Speaker 1: tossed it one of the ten guests. Seriously, curiously. I
- 26:02Speaker 1: did like their dresses though, OHI me too, Me too.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Oh every single dress that she wears is that same
- 26:09Speaker 1: exact Halter style, Like every single dress. Yeah. The opening
- 26:14Speaker 1: day of the movie is the longest day ever. She
- 26:16Speaker 1: has a yes, full day at the office. She drives
- 26:19Speaker 1: to the B and B. It is still light out.
- 26:21Speaker 1: They have a full day there. It's many hours before
- 26:24Speaker 1: they have dinner, and she's in her suit the entire time. Yes, Yes,
- 26:28Speaker 1: I noticed that as well. I was like, how long
- 26:30Speaker 1: is this day? Because she got the last there's nobody
- 26:33Speaker 1: left in the office when she leaves, so it is nighttime. Yes,
- 26:37Speaker 1: And I remember on the phone conversation with her parents,
- 26:39Speaker 1: she's like, oh, you know, when I get out here
- 26:41Speaker 1: at the end of the day, I'm meeting Cleo. Yeah, hey,
- 26:45Speaker 1: Penny Traverse the travel writer. Did she come from another
- 26:50Speaker 1: time period? I'm like, what is she wearing? What is
- 26:54Speaker 1: this big hat and like dress? Like, you know, Megan
- 26:58Speaker 1: and I are a blogger, like that's how we started
- 27:01Speaker 1: out right, And sure have been invited to attend many
- 27:05Speaker 1: things for reviews. But this woman looked like she was
- 27:09Speaker 1: from another time period. Yeah, and I feel like if
- 27:14Speaker 1: she were going to attend, I guess he did invite her.
- 27:17Speaker 1: But I feel like a travel writer usually goes in
- 27:19Speaker 1: a little less conspicuous because they want to have the
- 27:22Speaker 1: experience that the average guest is going to have, perhaps,
- 27:27Speaker 1: like they don't want you to roll out the red
- 27:28Speaker 1: carpet because they want to know what it's like to
- 27:30Speaker 1: actually stay there. What do you don't do it for
- 27:33Speaker 1: me if you wouldn't do it for your guests. So
- 27:37Speaker 1: I don't know. I thought that whole thing was handled poorly. Yeah,
- 27:41Speaker 1: and she just loved the place in like a whole
- 27:42Speaker 1: five minute, decided to write a glowing review. They put
- 27:47Speaker 1: up those old photos and boom, it's a hit. Oh
- 27:50Speaker 1: my god. Yes, I laughed out loud at the logo
- 27:54Speaker 1: Cleo designed on Canva. Yes, I'm watching it and I
- 27:58Speaker 1: literally laughed out loud. My husband goes, did you just
- 28:01Speaker 1: laugh at that, and I go, yeah, because any bozo
- 28:03Speaker 1: can make that camba seriously, probably like the top one.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Speaking of the art in this movie, she makes him
- 28:08Speaker 1: a gallery wall and in one of the frames there's
- 28:10Speaker 1: like typed out letters that say our story and it
- 28:14Speaker 1: looks terrible and hello, you have a sister who is
- 28:17Speaker 1: an artist to have her create something, at least in Canva.
- 28:21Speaker 1: I mean, my gosh, it's a total missed opportunity. It's
- 28:23Speaker 1: an ugly, ugly wall. Sorry, anything else, she says. She
- 28:28Speaker 1: takes her coffee black, and then she goes he's teasing her.
- 28:30Speaker 1: She's like, I take it black with cream and sugar.
- 28:32Speaker 1: That's not black coffee. Yeah. And finally, why does Noah
- 28:36Speaker 1: have the oldest cell phone ever? Oh? I didn't notice
- 28:39Speaker 1: no Nokia. No, it's not a smartphone. And it's bizarre.
- 28:45Speaker 1: What was his Oh, he like used to live in
- 28:47Speaker 1: New York. He was like a business analyst or something
- 28:49Speaker 1: like that. Is that right? Or am I mixed movies? No,
- 28:52Speaker 1: you're right. And then he, you know, found a slower,
- 28:55Speaker 1: slower life, you know, running a B and B. That's
- 28:57Speaker 1: a nice, easy lifestyle. I will say the property that
- 29:01Speaker 1: they used, I don't know if it's like the I'm
- 29:03Speaker 1: talking about the physical house that they used as the
- 29:05Speaker 1: B and B. The exterior of it was gorgeous. I agree.
- 29:08Speaker 1: And I also thought the location when they go for
- 29:11Speaker 1: a walk, and the pond and the waterfalls, all of
- 29:15Speaker 1: that was beautiful as well. Yeah, and which brings up
- 29:18Speaker 1: another question, like if he's the only dude working there,
- 29:21Speaker 1: why are they taking these like long strolls on the property.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Who else is minding the business? That's a good question.
- 29:29Speaker 1: And she was in heels and on their walk. Oh
- 29:33Speaker 1: my gosh, seriously, she know where she was going. He
- 29:37Speaker 1: just had come with me. But don't you think he
- 29:38Speaker 1: might have said, like, maybe you want to change your shoes,
- 29:40Speaker 1: But no, she's got to have that pretty woman polka
- 29:43Speaker 1: dot dress moment. Well, speaking of that particular scene, she's
- 29:47Speaker 1: wearing these tragic white sandals, and I was like, I
- 29:50Speaker 1: haven't seen a white sandal in a really long time.
- 29:53Speaker 1: I really was like, am I out of touch? Because
- 29:56Speaker 1: sometimes the youth wears things. I'm like, Wow, I would
- 29:59Speaker 1: not have paid to that, Or are those truly the
- 30:03Speaker 1: white sandals I wore to my eighth grade promotion. Yes,
- 30:06Speaker 1: that's what it felt like. But I do know that
- 30:09Speaker 1: I am out of touch because I take my daughter's
- 30:11Speaker 1: shopping and everything I hold up. She makes a face
- 30:13Speaker 1: to the point I'm like a simple no, we'll do.
- 30:16Speaker 1: I'm telling you you have to pick out the ugliest thing,
- 30:18Speaker 1: and then they'll be like, oh my god, I like that.
- 30:20Speaker 1: What did you rate when Love Springs two and a half? Oh? Exactly,
- 30:24Speaker 1: me too. Okay, yeah, it was kind of of a movie.
- 30:28Speaker 1: I like Three and a Fish if you didn't love
- 30:31Speaker 1: everything else. Hey, thanks for listening to this episode of
