Latest / The Teamup Play Show Podcast / S1-Ep.41: Seems Hard and Bad
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to a lily pad production.
- 0:04Speaker 2: This is the team up play show podcast. Hey, Johnny here.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Just starting this episode with a little bit of a
- 0:25Speaker 2: content warning. There are some events in this episode that
- 0:29Speaker 2: resemble the horrible current events and actions of ICE on
- 0:35Speaker 2: the people of our country. I planned these events well
- 0:38Speaker 2: before the more recent and very public terrorizing and murdering
- 0:42Speaker 2: and capturing that ICE has been engaged in at the
- 0:45Speaker 2: behest of our president and those who support him. And
- 0:49Speaker 2: instead of rewriting these events, we've decided to leave them in,
- 0:52Speaker 2: in hopes to highlight the deep evil that's happening.
- 0:55Speaker 3: In our country.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Sometimes art and story help us to determine what is
- 1:00Speaker 2: truly wicked in the real world. That is to say,
- 1:03Speaker 2: if you're against the evil in the events of this episode,
- 1:07Speaker 2: you ought to be against the evil that is happening
- 1:09Speaker 2: against the people of color in our nation at the
- 1:12Speaker 2: hands of ice. Anyway, hope you enjoy the episode and
- 1:16Speaker 2: sorry for preaching.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Previously In the City of Bones.
- 1:31Speaker 2: To begin this transaction, to begin the flow of gold
- 1:35Speaker 2: into this city, to start a second founding age, the
- 1:40Speaker 2: golden age of New Babel, there are some things we
- 1:44Speaker 2: need from you. There is allowed no powered individuals here.
- 1:50Speaker 2: The lawlessness and communism of what you endearingly call the
- 1:55Speaker 2: chute is no longer allowed. Those living there must be
- 2:00Speaker 2: removed and processed. The day people will not be a
- 2:04Speaker 2: comfortable part of the tourist experience for those visiting, if
- 2:08Speaker 2: allowed to remain in their current status, they are to
- 2:12Speaker 2: be reverted to their initial purpose. Day people, you may
- 2:17Speaker 2: join the police force and serve the people around you
- 2:20Speaker 2: as you were intended to do. Or you may take
- 2:24Speaker 2: a service role for a valued member of society.
- 2:29Speaker 3: I'm the Paper Phantom. And I want to use you
- 2:34Speaker 3: and your technology. I want you to help me remove this.
- 2:37Speaker 3: And I point to the book. I don't want to
- 2:42Speaker 3: be the Paper Phantom anymore.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Jason, here are our findings in layman's terms and my
- 2:47Speaker 2: suggestions for procedure. The book and the bulwark within you
- 2:52Speaker 2: do not seem dependent upon you. However, your body does
- 2:58Speaker 2: depend on them. Many of your bodily functions are being
- 3:01Speaker 2: maintained by the power of that thing, primarily your circulatory
- 3:05Speaker 2: and respiratory systems. Your heart and lungs were crushed into
- 3:09Speaker 2: nothing when you united with the book. They are not present,
- 3:13Speaker 2: and the book is somehow allowing you to live. All
- 3:16Speaker 2: that said, we can try an operation. There is no
- 3:20Speaker 2: precedent for this, so I cannot guarantee success, but we
- 3:23Speaker 2: may be able to perform a transplant, the book for
- 3:27Speaker 2: a new set of lungs and a heart. Ellington has
- 3:29Speaker 2: a good relationship with the hospitals in the city, and
- 3:32Speaker 2: I've found compatible organs. Come by in two days if
- 3:36Speaker 2: you'd like to proceed. My medical team predicts a 93%
- 3:39Speaker 2: chance of success. The announcement from the American ambassador has
- 4:38Speaker 2: shaken this city. People are fickle. People like shiny things.
- 4:48Speaker 2: The promise of wealth, free and easy, is too much
- 4:54Speaker 2: for the people of your city. They clamber like starved
- 4:59Speaker 2: rats at the promise of more. The cost is small, right?
- 5:07Speaker 2: Get rid of the heroes, displace the shooters, and enslave
- 5:11Speaker 2: the day? Those things don't affect your average new babble
- 5:15Speaker 2: Bones or Joe.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Bones being the most common name after Jasons. Your average Jasons.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Your average Jasons and your average Bones.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Be better, Bones.
- 5:30Speaker 2: In the course of a couple days, day businesses are
- 5:35Speaker 2: boycotted and vandalized. The shoot entryways are surrounded by protesters
- 5:41Speaker 2: and agitators who harass shooters going in and out. They
- 5:45Speaker 2: do so unchallenged by the race. The statues of the
- 5:50Speaker 2: heroes of the founding age are torn down and written
- 5:55Speaker 2: upon them in red paint is the battle cry of
- 5:58Speaker 2: the people. Leave us alone. Not a month ago they
- 6:04Speaker 2: cheered for you. Now they curse your name and unknowingly
- 6:09Speaker 2: move against your kind. What do you guys do?
- 6:23Speaker 1: I mean, like, we gotta keep protecting people. They may
- 6:28Speaker 1: not want us to anymore, but I think we're still
- 6:31Speaker 1: out there patrolling and, you know, protecting shooters as they're
- 6:36Speaker 1: coming and going from the shoot, and Stopping people vandalizing
- 6:40Speaker 1: businesses as we see that. And, you know, all the
- 6:43Speaker 1: other stuff that we would do around the city when
- 6:46Speaker 1: we would patrol. Right?
- 6:49Speaker 3: Rigel is.
- 6:51Speaker 4: The line for the first time between Rigel and Jameer
- 6:55Speaker 4: is starting to blur. As Rigel is spending almost all
- 7:00Speaker 4: of his time in the chute or near it. Being
- 7:05Speaker 4: visibly seen and.
- 7:08Speaker 4: Fighting viciously, protecting shooters, and protecting the shoot itself. Scared
- 7:15Speaker 4: that his people, his family, their whole way of life
- 7:20Speaker 4: will be destroyed.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Jason is retreating back to what he knows, his library,
- 7:27Speaker 3: his books, using the letter from Manny Ellington, offering surgery
- 7:34Speaker 3: to remove his powers in his book as a bookmark.
- 7:39Speaker 1: And quanta's doing her best to protect businesses all of
- 7:43Speaker 1: them day and human and the vandalism and violence happening
- 7:48Speaker 1: around the city stopping that as she can and helping
- 7:54Speaker 1: rigel at the shoot quanta and rigel every time you
- 8:00Speaker 1: go out now as a hero new rifles are trained
- 8:04Speaker 1: at you Quanta, you saw.
- 8:07Speaker 2: These kinds of rifles in your vision of the Evo War.
- 8:14Speaker 2: They shoot metal spikes that carry a neutralizing agent of
- 8:20Speaker 2: your Evo gene. Rigel, your sneak is not very good,
- 8:28Speaker 2: but your might and your strength are. One day as
- 8:31Speaker 2: you go flying out, One of these hits you from
- 8:38Speaker 2: an unknown place.
- 8:40Speaker 3: I stop.
- 8:42Speaker 4: I take it off my back, inspect it, and then
- 8:49Speaker 4: crush it in my palm, and I turn to try
- 8:53Speaker 4: to see the direction from which I was shot.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Make a sense check as you turn and look.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Sense is not my best.
- 9:04Speaker 2: It's an average check. I'm rolling a D8.
- 9:07Speaker 3: I got a three.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I rolled a six. You can't find the person, but
- 9:14Speaker 2: I think even on this fail, you understand that trained snipers,
- 9:19Speaker 2: this well-trained to hide from you, aren't a part of
- 9:23Speaker 2: the New Babel police force.
- 9:26Speaker 3: It's not like New Babel police training.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Rachel, if I may, Rachel's going to fly to Jason Sure.
- 9:36Speaker 3: Which one? There's so many Jasons in the city. Your father,
- 9:38Speaker 3: your brother, your shoot fruit, shoot dogs.
- 9:42Speaker 4: I'm going to fly to Jason Turner, actually.
- 9:45Speaker 1: I'm Jason Turner.
- 9:49Speaker 3: I'm also Jason Turner. JT, go home.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Before you get to Jason and have a talk with him,
- 9:58Speaker 2: I do want Quanta to do a role here because
- 10:00Speaker 2: every time.
- 10:01Speaker 3: You go out, you are shot at with these spikes.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Jameer, as you crush it, you realize that the neutralizing
- 10:11Speaker 2: agent wouldn't work on you.
- 10:12Speaker 3: You're not an Evo. But they still hurt, certainly.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Quanta.
- 10:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:18Speaker 2: You got to dodge these things. We're going to do
- 10:20Speaker 2: a general check here for like a week's time of
- 10:25Speaker 2: you not getting hit with one of these. If one
- 10:28Speaker 2: does hit you, we'll do that when we'll say within
- 10:31Speaker 2: this episode, there will be a time where one hits you.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Okay. So roll a ready check.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I would love to add.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Or street smarts.
- 10:39Speaker 1: I will do ready and I would love to add
- 10:42Speaker 1: lightning reflexes.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Absolutely. I'm rolling a difficult check. Because there are a
- 10:49Speaker 2: lot of people aiming at you to shoot.
- 10:51Speaker 3: So I'm rolling a D12.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I'm rolling a D10 and a D6.
- 10:56Speaker 2: I rolled 12 on my D12.
- 10:58Speaker 1: I rolled a 10 and a 6. I rolled 16. Maxed.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Wow.
- 11:06Speaker 1: All three rolled max.
- 11:07Speaker 4: We all rolled max. We all rolled max. Do the
- 11:10Speaker 4: probability on that, listeners.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Yeah, listeners.
- 11:14Speaker 3: We're not gonna. We're not scientists.
- 11:17Speaker 1: We're not statisticians.
- 11:18Speaker 3: I don't remember fifth grade, man. Or estheticians. Statisticians, estheticians, statisticians.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Quanta, every time you go out as Quanta, you're shot
- 11:30Speaker 2: at by these spikes. How does Quanta avoid them?
- 11:35Speaker 1: I think the first few times she's surprised, but they
- 11:39Speaker 1: miss her. And then she.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Registers the like signature like she does with people of
- 11:50Speaker 1: those guns and the energy so that she just kind
- 11:53Speaker 1: of starts at first like really actively looking for them
- 11:58Speaker 1: but then eventually like her brain accommodates that to become
- 12:02Speaker 1: like a passive ability that she's just tracking where these
- 12:06Speaker 1: are so she before they even fire she can turn into.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Lightning and move out of the way very cool yeah
- 12:15Speaker 2: With the two of you remaining as heroes and continuing
- 12:18Speaker 2: to do patrol, a few other things that happen before
- 12:21Speaker 2: we get to Jameer going to hang out with Jason.
- 12:24Speaker 2: You notice there are power dampening bonds starting to show
- 12:32Speaker 2: up on police. And then you also notice that there
- 12:37Speaker 2: is a para-police-like organization. Is that the right way to
- 12:43Speaker 2: say it?
- 12:43Speaker 4: Para-police?
- 12:44Speaker 2: Parapolice?
- 12:45Speaker 3: Like they're parachuting or like flying?
- 12:48Speaker 2: No, like they're outside of the government. They're outside of
- 12:53Speaker 2: the New Babel paramilitary. There's like a paramilitary group that
- 12:59Speaker 2: seems to be supplying these things to the New Babel
- 13:02Speaker 2: police and are actively walking throughout the city as well.
- 13:07Speaker 2: You also both have interactions with people, the people of
- 13:11Speaker 2: the city.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Jameer.
- 13:14Speaker 2: There's a group of shooters that are being harassed. People
- 13:21Speaker 2: are throwing food at them as they enter into their home.
- 13:25Speaker 2: The shoot coming home from a day's work in the city.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Not just food, but sticks, even rocks here or there
- 13:34Speaker 2: thrown at people just trying to get home. How does
- 13:37Speaker 2: Jameer deal with this? Jameer will just send out a.
- 13:42Speaker 4: hail of flight stars to just block a bunch of
- 13:46Speaker 4: these projectiles and floating above them will yell down that's
- 13:57Speaker 4: all it took for you to turn against your neighbors
- 14:04Speaker 4: for you to want to enslave and exile your fellow
- 14:08Speaker 4: members of New Babel a little bit of money and
- 14:13Speaker 4: A little bit of money, that's all it took to
- 14:15Speaker 4: buy your souls? Money you haven't even seen?
- 14:19Speaker 2: Roll a glory check, Jameer.
- 14:27Speaker 3: That Jameer is good at.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Oh, he's glorious.
- 14:32Speaker 2: This is a difficult check. I'm rolling a d12 again.
- 14:35Speaker 3: I'm also rolling a d12.
- 14:38Speaker 2: I rolled a seven.
- 14:39Speaker 3: I got a ten. Ten.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Most of the people look downcast. Look at the things
- 14:51Speaker 2: in their hands that they had thrown or planned to
- 14:54Speaker 2: throw and look embarrassed. One of the crowd, though, stands
- 15:02Speaker 2: in defiance to you, Rigel. We don't need you anymore.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Leave us alone. It's your fault now we're not going
- 15:13Speaker 3: to be.
- 15:14Speaker 2: It's your fault now we're not going to get anything.
- 15:16Speaker 3: What was that, big boy?
- 15:18Speaker 4: Sorry, hold on.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Try it again. Hold on.
- 15:21Speaker 4: Everybody, be quiet. He's gathering his fucking thoughts. What's he
- 15:24Speaker 4: going to say? Try again, big guy. You're so sure
- 15:28Speaker 4: that your new leaders aren't captors? You're so sure that
- 15:32Speaker 4: they're going to give you everything you've ever wished for.
- 15:35Speaker 3: That's what you're sure of, huh? That's what they said.
- 15:37Speaker 4: That's what the guy on the TV said. And the
- 15:39Speaker 4: guy on the TV can't.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Lie, right?
- 15:42Speaker 3: Right, smart guy?
- 15:43Speaker 2: We don't want you anymore.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Speak up.
- 15:45Speaker 4: Speak up.
- 15:45Speaker 1: What?
- 15:46Speaker 2: We don't.
- 15:46Speaker 3: I can't hear you. This guy is being petty.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Bones?
- 15:56Speaker 3: Is that you?
- 15:58Speaker 4: The line between Rigel and Jameer is starting to blur.
- 16:03Speaker 2: This guy eventually backs down and this sad huddle of
- 16:09Speaker 2: people move on and then the shooters as you float
- 16:15Speaker 2: down on your flight star, Jameer, reach up, touch the
- 16:18Speaker 2: bottom of your flight star, touch the edge of your cape.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Thank you, Rigel. Thank you. Thank you.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Just a chorus of thank yous. Of course.
- 16:29Speaker 4: Go on in.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Go on in. Be safe.
- 16:33Speaker 2: We still believe in you. We still believe in you guys.
- 16:37Speaker 3: Thank you. Take care of each other, please.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Quanta, there's... you notice something on your patrol quanta. There
- 16:50Speaker 2: are hundreds of abandoned buildings in New Babel, just not
- 16:55Speaker 2: enough people for what was built here. There are abandoned malls,
- 16:59Speaker 2: abandoned warehouses. This paramilitary organization begins to set up camps,
- 17:07Speaker 2: living quarters, shabby cots, and storing food there. And they
- 17:14Speaker 2: start marking them as... Day buildings, spelled D-A-Y.
- 17:21Speaker 3: Quanta finds one of these. It's an old warehouse.
- 17:25Speaker 1: What the... What are you up to now? I will
- 17:31Speaker 1: turn into plasma and enter the network in the building.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Scope it out.
- 17:38Speaker 2: They're getting set up basic generators. The electricity in this
- 17:43Speaker 2: building doesn't work. Some of the plumbing doesn't work. They're just...
- 17:47Speaker 2: getting like basic lighting in there to house.
- 17:53Speaker 3: People.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Quanta gets ready to destroy, like starts to like charge
- 18:00Speaker 1: up to destroy the generators they're creating. And then like
- 18:05Speaker 1: a thought hits of like, they're still going to put
- 18:09Speaker 1: people here. If I make conditions worse, they're still going
- 18:15Speaker 1: to put people here And I will have made it
- 18:17Speaker 1: worse for them. And then starts to panic a little
- 18:22Speaker 1: bit and shoots through the city's electricity to find Gabe
- 18:28Speaker 1: and her parents. I think I would go to my
- 18:35Speaker 1: work first because that would probably be the most vulnerable
- 18:39Speaker 1: rather than my home.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Your work has been A brick has been thrown through
- 18:50Speaker 2: the front glass. People have come in, destroyed everything. And
- 18:58Speaker 2: Gabe is in the back, sweeping up, cleaning up.
- 19:02Speaker 1: I just show up as Quanta.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Oh my God, you're okay. Hey, I don't know how
- 19:08Speaker 2: long we'll be okay, but. They didn't hurt me. They
- 19:12Speaker 2: just busted everything up.
- 19:17Speaker 1: We're closed. We're closed. It's not worth it, you being
- 19:20Speaker 1: here by yourself.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Okay.
- 19:22Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Sorry?
- 19:24Speaker 2: Well, just sorry this is happening to us.
- 19:28Speaker 1: We have nothing to apologize for.
- 19:30Speaker 3: You're right.
- 19:31Speaker 2: You're right.
- 19:31Speaker 1: I mean, I have shit to apologize for, but not
- 19:34Speaker 1: to do with this.
- 19:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:36Speaker 1: I think my friend would be okay with you coming
- 19:39Speaker 1: to stay with us.
- 19:41Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 19:42Speaker 2: It was scary.
- 19:44Speaker 3: I bet.
- 19:45Speaker 1: I hug him.
- 19:46Speaker 2: He hugs you back.
- 19:48Speaker 1: I'm going to let Rigel know. that you're coming over,
- 19:51Speaker 1: but I'm taking you.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Okay. You take Gabe over to Rigel's and- Tube time.
- 19:56Speaker 2: You touch base with your moms.
- 19:58Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 19:59Speaker 1: And dad. He's there too.
- 20:00Speaker 3: And your dad.
- 20:02Speaker 2: You touch base with your family.
- 20:03Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Oh, Ronnie, this is horrible.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Is everybody okay? What's happened?
- 20:11Speaker 2: We're all okay. We're all okay. Sandy is on the
- 20:13Speaker 2: telephone just spouting intense legal jargon in every direction.
- 20:19Speaker 3: Intense legal jargon. That's how the world changes.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Intense legal jargon. Intense legal jargon. They can't do this.
- 20:29Speaker 2: We have rights. Just screaming into her cube. Your dad
- 20:34Speaker 2: comes over Gives you a big hug. Oh, dad.
- 20:39Speaker 5: Ronnie.
- 20:39Speaker 2: It's fine.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Both are good.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Ronnie, hey.
- 20:43Speaker 4: Hi.
- 20:44Speaker 2: This is horrible.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Are you three safe here? Can I take you somewhere else?
- 20:50Speaker 2: It seems like Kono is the safest from what's going on,
- 20:56Speaker 2: but I don't know how long it'll last. Well, you
- 21:01Speaker 2: know the way.
- 21:02Speaker 1: You know the way through the Through the pneumatic tube tunnels, right?
- 21:05Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I guess I do, yeah.
- 21:09Speaker 1: The second you smell something scary, please take yourself and
- 21:13Speaker 1: Mom's there.
- 21:14Speaker 2: He shrugs, looks at Sandy. I don't know if she's
- 21:20Speaker 2: gonna take this lying down.
- 21:22Speaker 1: She shouldn't have to. No.
- 21:26Speaker 2: But she's a fighter, just like you.
- 21:29Speaker 1: You're right.
- 21:29Speaker 2: We'll be okay, dear.
- 21:30Speaker 3: We'll be okay. Mommy, she... Brings over a little bag
- 21:35Speaker 3: of chocolate chip cookies.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Baking cookies at the end of the world, huh, Mommy?
- 21:40Speaker 2: She shrugs. I don't know how long I'll have access
- 21:44Speaker 2: to my kitchen.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Oof. Your dad puts a hand on your shoulder.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Hey, things like this, it's all the rage right now.
- 21:59Speaker 2: We'll get through it.
- 22:00Speaker 1: What I learn, I'm learning. It's been all the rage
- 22:03Speaker 1: throughout all of history. And some people don't get through it.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Maybe that's so. Well, just in case stuff is going
- 22:14Speaker 2: to happen, I wanted to tell you, you know, I
- 22:17Speaker 2: was worried and tried to kind of control if you
- 22:21Speaker 2: were going to do the whole quanta thing or not.
- 22:25Speaker 2: And I just wanted to tell you that I'm so
- 22:29Speaker 2: proud of what you've done. And I'm more proud that
- 22:36Speaker 2: you're doing it now still. You don't deserve their hate.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Thanks, Dad. I'll try to believe that.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Love ya.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Both your parents here, your mom's Sandy still on the phone.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Both your parents here give you a kiss on the
- 22:55Speaker 2: head as you move on.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Think i'd like to before i leave like reach into
- 23:12Speaker 1: if you'll allow i don't know if you want me
- 23:15Speaker 1: to branch for this but with control electricity like do
- 23:21Speaker 1: they have a security system yes i would like to
- 23:23Speaker 1: like put kind of kind of similar to like when
- 23:26Speaker 1: the phantom like gives people cards that they can write
- 23:30Speaker 1: on i want to like create like a blip in
- 23:33Speaker 1: their security yeah that like i'm aware of and connected to.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Yeah, kind of like you did with the Wraith. Yes, yes.
- 23:42Speaker 1: But this one, like, then I could feel, like, if
- 23:46Speaker 1: their security gets tripped or, like, if there's, like, louder
- 23:51Speaker 1: than usual activity or something like that.
- 23:54Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 23:55Speaker 1: That I could be aware of it.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. Jason is reading books using the letter
- 24:02Speaker 2: from Manny. That promises a 93% chance of success on
- 24:09Speaker 2: the transplants as the city's going wild around him. What
- 24:16Speaker 2: is he thinking right before Jameer shows up?
- 24:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I think Jason is... He's received, you know, an
- 24:25Speaker 3: influx of... The library's kind of done with construction at
- 24:28Speaker 3: this point, but.
- 24:31Speaker 3: New books are coming in from America that he's got
- 24:33Speaker 3: a shelf. He's got to rebuild the collection. He's like
- 24:36Speaker 3: trying to work on that. Just trying to figure out
- 24:39Speaker 3: if he can go back to his old life all
- 24:42Speaker 3: the while in the library, as he's working, putting books away,
- 24:45Speaker 3: reading books, the, the suit, the phantom cloak and hat
- 24:50Speaker 3: is hovering in the corner separate from him. He doesn't
- 24:52Speaker 3: want to hold it in him anymore. He's just trying
- 24:55Speaker 3: to lose himself in the work and the books and
- 24:58Speaker 3: ignore the outside world. There's, white billowing sheets over lots
- 25:02Speaker 3: of the empty bookshelves. Very Phantom of the Opera style.
- 25:08Speaker 3: The unopened library.
- 25:10Speaker 2: And Jameer shows up to see his friend.
- 25:12Speaker 4: Yeah. Jameer changes secretly in a tomb nearby, crawls out,
- 25:22Speaker 4: and knocks on the big door.
- 25:25Speaker 3: Jason opens instinctively before seeing who it is. Sorry, we're
- 25:30Speaker 3: not actually open yet. Still rebuilding the collection. Yeah, I know.
- 25:36Speaker 3: It's me. Oh, hey. What's up?
- 25:42Speaker 4: You see bags under Rigel's eyes, bloodshot.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Hey, man. Long time no see. Yeah, yeah, it's been
- 25:52Speaker 3: a little bit. Oh, did you want to, sorry, you
- 25:54Speaker 3: want to come in? Please.
- 25:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:59Speaker 4: Jameer comes inside. You got anything to, uh, drink in
- 26:03Speaker 4: this place? Um, I think there's some old tea bags, um,
- 26:09Speaker 4: that didn't get burned.
- 26:10Speaker 3: Tea sounds great. Tea sounds great. Yeah, I think so.
- 26:14Speaker 3: It was like Arthur's weird old, his old man tea.
- 26:18Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Smooth move.
- 26:22Speaker 3: Yeah, it's all smooth move. Is that okay? Smooth move
- 26:26Speaker 3: or sleepy time? Which one you feeling? Um, Not sleepy time,
- 26:30Speaker 3: so let's go smooth move. Nice, that's what I've been
- 26:32Speaker 3: taking a lot of, so cool. Are you okay? You
- 26:37Speaker 3: seem kind of fucked up. Yeah, I'm pretty fucked up, man. Yeah,
- 26:42Speaker 3: seems like a lot going on out there. I don't
- 26:45Speaker 3: really want to deal with it. Seems hard and bad.
- 26:52Speaker 3: It's a.
- 26:55Speaker 4: Lot of true colors are being revealed and I don't
- 26:59Speaker 4: like what I'm seeing. Yeah.
- 27:04Speaker 3: It's hard because we were fighting to protect the city
- 27:08Speaker 3: and it seems like the city kind of turned on us, huh?
- 27:14Speaker 3: They're about to.
- 27:18Speaker 3: They're about to eat their own, Jason. For the promise
- 27:24Speaker 3: of money?
- 27:26Speaker 2: Money?
- 27:29Speaker 4: They're about to round up the day and the shooters
- 27:36Speaker 4: and do God knows what with them. I'm getting sniped at,
- 27:43Speaker 4: flying across the city. I don't even know where Quanta
- 27:47Speaker 4: is right now. I don't know if she's okay this moment.
- 27:50Speaker 4: I mean, every second, it could all fall apart. Safer
- 27:57Speaker 4: to keep your head down, not go out dressed as
- 28:01Speaker 4: a star man with glowing fish bracers? It really was.
- 28:09Speaker 4: But a lot of shooters would get fucked up if
- 28:17Speaker 4: I wasn't flying around.
- 28:18Speaker 3: I mean, what can we do? Who do we punch
- 28:21Speaker 3: in the face to fix this? You know, I really
- 28:27Speaker 3: wish I had.
- 28:29Speaker 4: Some smart guy who's read a lot of books with
- 28:33Speaker 4: me to help me figure that out.
- 28:36Speaker 3: Like I'm trying to get out of a hero business
- 28:43Speaker 3: before it's too late. Maybe you should think about doing
- 28:45Speaker 3: the same thing.
- 28:45Speaker 4: I mean, business is not booming.
- 28:50Speaker 3: So I mean, you've got your family, right? That's something
- 28:55Speaker 3: wherever the shoot ends up being, you'll still have them.
- 28:58Speaker 3: jason jason i don't got no one man i got
- 29:03Speaker 3: this room hey pages in space i guess arthur's gone
- 29:11Speaker 3: the phantom was just me all along let's go back to.
- 29:15Speaker 2: Being alone.
- 29:24Speaker 3: You got me jason You got me, man. Yeah. And
- 29:35Speaker 3: you got Quanta. Like, you guys are always welcoming. here
- 29:40Speaker 3: if you need something.
- 29:40Speaker 4: But no no no no no no the last week
- 29:45Speaker 4: has been hell but I know my friend and I
- 29:52Speaker 4: know that if you're not out there trying to be
- 29:56Speaker 4: part of stemming this tide Then you must be going
- 30:03Speaker 4: through your own hell.
- 30:05Speaker 3: In here... And I'm sorry I let you go through
- 30:09Speaker 3: it alone for this long man... But what... What the
- 30:12Speaker 3: hell's going on? Look I'm not like you... You are Quanta... Okay?
- 30:21Speaker 3: I can't... Rally the people and... I don't know... Kiss
- 30:28Speaker 3: babies or whatever... I'm a fucking murderer dude.
- 30:33Speaker 3: I am Jason Turner, murderer. I'll be whatever the city
- 30:37Speaker 3: needs me to be, but I don't know what that
- 30:39Speaker 3: is right now. So like I said, if you want
- 30:43Speaker 3: to call on me when you need help, I'm here,
- 30:46Speaker 3: but it might not be for much longer.
- 31:01Speaker 5: What?
- 31:02Speaker 4: That scary shit. What does that mean for much longer, Jason?
- 31:07Speaker 4: What are you saying?
- 31:10Speaker 3: Jason pulls the bookmark out from a book across the
- 31:14Speaker 3: library and flutters it into Jameer's hands so he can
- 31:18Speaker 3: see Manny Ellington's letter. While that's happening, I pull a
- 31:21Speaker 3: lever that unfolds spiral staircase like origami to the secret
- 31:27Speaker 3: loft I installed. If you got anything you want to
- 31:29Speaker 3: say to the Phantom, today might be the last night.
- 31:35Speaker 3: You're thinking about.
- 31:35Speaker 4: Letting that crazy guy fuck with your book, dude?
- 31:42Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. This could kill you, man. Well, I clearly
- 31:48Speaker 3: don't deserve this. I don't have control over this. If
- 31:53Speaker 3: this is who I am, I don't want to be
- 31:54Speaker 3: able to just kill people on a whim. I'm sorry
- 31:59Speaker 3: for everything that's happening, but I don't know if I
- 32:01Speaker 3: can help.
- 32:04Speaker 4: You didn't cause what's happening, so you don't need to
- 32:07Speaker 4: apologize for it.
- 32:08Speaker 3: You're damn right I forgot to vote twice. Henry Ellington
- 32:13Speaker 3: built the room you're standing in, by the way.
- 32:16Speaker 4: And Manny Ellington paid for my grandma to become the Everwing, which.
- 32:26Speaker 3: Is probably what got all of my hold.
- 32:29Speaker 4: Ball rolling so it's all fucking confusing and dirty I'm
- 32:40Speaker 4: not the greatest at determining whether things are right or
- 32:43Speaker 4: wrong okay when things are simple black and white good
- 32:46Speaker 4: guys bad guys that's easy like words on a page
- 32:51Speaker 4: but what's happening now it's messy you're right just like
- 32:57Speaker 4: you had a freaking demon of destruction thing put in
- 33:01Speaker 4: your body. Yeah, and that demon of destruction's name is
- 33:05Speaker 4: fucking Jason Turner, alright? No, that demon of destruction's name,
- 33:10Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Hey. But that was not you.
- 33:17Speaker 4: That was another thing, and then it fucked with you,
- 33:21Speaker 4: and then we had to go inside of you and
- 33:25Speaker 4: untangle some lingering.
- 33:27Speaker 3: confused threads just and now you get to choose who
- 33:34Speaker 3: you are I am I'm choosing this is it it
- 33:37Speaker 3: doesn't I'm sorry you don't like it I library is
- 33:42Speaker 3: closed see you around Jameer whatever we were this team
- 33:54Speaker 3: special magic knights or whatever it's done City's changing. Yeah.
- 34:17Speaker 4: Yeah. Rigel looks to the front door. The city is changing.
- 34:25Speaker 3: It's pretty scary. think you can handle it.
- 34:34Speaker 4: Jason I'm a blunt instrument and they see me coming from.
- 34:40Speaker 3: A mile away every time I.
- 34:44Speaker 4: Want the bad people that are trying to kill what's
- 34:51Speaker 4: left of the good in this city to be afraid.
- 34:56Speaker 3: And I can't do that no But you can. As
- 35:02Speaker 3: soon as I get this godforsaken book out of my chest,
- 35:04Speaker 3: you can have it. You be the paper phantom. I
- 35:08Speaker 3: spent my whole life bouncing around foster home to foster home.
- 35:12Speaker 3: My only friends were books. I kept my head down,
- 35:17Speaker 3: and I survived. That's all I know. I'm not a hero. Okay.
- 35:26Speaker 4: Keep the letter. You're my friend. You're my friend. I disagree,
- 35:29Speaker 4: but okay. If you see Quanta, tell her I'm sorry.
- 35:38Speaker 4: I can pass along that message. Jason, what are you
- 35:44Speaker 4: eating for dinner tonight? You don't look like you've been eating, man.
- 35:48Speaker 4: Just been drinking a lot of smooth move tea, man. God,
- 35:52Speaker 4: there's like no calories in that.
- 35:54Speaker 3: You're eating your body, man. It's fine. No, no. I'll
- 36:00Speaker 3: get some pizza up or something.
- 36:02Speaker 2: No, no, no, no.
- 36:04Speaker 4: Me, you, Quanta... Let's go to the fucking Grimace King...
- 36:10Speaker 4: And let's eat some shit today.
- 36:15Speaker 3: Please. Just burgers, no work. That's all I'm asking right now. Fine.
- 36:22Speaker 3: I've got my.
- 36:24Speaker 3: My surgery scheduled, so... In fact.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Your surgery is scheduled before dinner tonight.
- 36:32Speaker 3: Oh, shit. I'm not supposed to eat for 24 hours.
- 36:35Speaker 3: I've been drinking nothing but Smooth Move. I don't know
- 36:37Speaker 3: if that's going to do anything for the anesthesia.
- 36:40Speaker 2: But you make plans with your friends to get dinner
- 36:43Speaker 2: knowing that before that event, you are set up to
- 36:50Speaker 2: be at Manny's.
- 36:51Speaker 4: All right.
- 36:52Speaker 3: I'll see you there, Jason. 6.30. See ya.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Bye, Joel.
- 36:57Speaker 3: Walks out of the library, and Jameer cries.
- 37:04Speaker 2: And the time comes for Jason's appointment with Manny Ellington.
- 37:11Speaker 2: I'm a little nervous. Does Jason go is my question.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 37:18Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 37:19Speaker 2: Okay.
- 37:20Speaker 3: Get this out of me.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Get out of here, Kool-Aid man.
- 37:24Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Nobody asked you to fuck with our friend's superpower.
- 37:28Speaker 3: Okay. Hate that red Kool-Aid bellied man.
- 37:35Speaker 2: You enter Ellington Electric, and the young woman is at
- 37:41Speaker 2: the desk.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Oh, this lady.
- 37:44Speaker 3: Hi, Jason.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Hi.
- 37:46Speaker 3: No barbs this time. I know it's a big day.
- 37:49Speaker 4: Oh.
- 37:50Speaker 3: Thanks. Yeah, I mean, if I die, it's been very
- 37:58Speaker 3: educational speaking with you. Thanks.
- 38:01Speaker 2: She takes you back to an operating room. It's in
- 38:06Speaker 2: the same area of this enormous plant where you have
- 38:11Speaker 2: sensed Hannah Hill and being experimental. You sense other kind
- 38:17Speaker 2: of experimental names for different Biochemical engineering They're making a
- 38:24Speaker 2: Shrek overview They're making In one room they're making a Shrek.
- 38:29Speaker 1: An abomination Oh shit god Wait a second Is.
- 38:34Speaker 2: This the kind of levity we need after After.
- 38:39Speaker 1: They're baking a Shrek That's our amount of time spent
- 38:43Speaker 1: On talking about how much we watch Shrek rot.
- 38:45Speaker 3: I know That's all I can think about.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Manny is there In the room, there are several doctors,
- 38:52Speaker 2: many of them preparing things. Jason, I'm a little surprised
- 38:57Speaker 2: that you came, but glad you did.
- 38:59Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 39:01Speaker 4: Yeah, uh.
- 39:03Speaker 3: Seems like... The city's not interested in super people anymore, and...
- 39:09Speaker 3: Just the push I needed.
- 39:10Speaker 2: I guess.
- 39:11Speaker 3: What is happening in the city right now is... A shame.
- 39:15Speaker 2: My father and his father... Supported heroes, and it is
- 39:21Speaker 2: sad that the city no longer does.
- 39:25Speaker 3: Really? Your father and father his father's cool father.
- 39:31Speaker 2: Yes but today is not about that today is about
- 39:36Speaker 2: you you finding yourself ascending jason through the muck and blooming.
- 39:45Speaker 3: At last i guess you're looking that way.
- 39:50Speaker 2: Don't look at this as a step backward, but as
- 39:54Speaker 2: a step forward to what the new you will be.
- 39:59Speaker 3: Well, 93% chance of it still being Jason Turner.
- 40:04Speaker 4: Yes.
- 40:05Speaker 2: He gestures to the table.
- 40:09Speaker 3: All right. I know you said that it's a high
- 40:12Speaker 3: probability that everything goes okay, but in case it doesn't,
- 40:18Speaker 3: I hand... Manny Ellington, a letter. It's addressed to Quanta
- 40:23Speaker 3: and Rigel.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 40:26Speaker 3: You could leave it sealed, Dovey. He wouldn't say thank you.
- 40:29Speaker 3: I wasn't thinking. You're welcome.
- 40:32Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 40:34Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 40:36Speaker 2: He says, I've got the reckoning. Of course, Jason, we
- 40:41Speaker 2: will get this to your.
- 40:44Speaker 3: Friends, but.
- 40:46Speaker 2: Everything will be fine. I have faith.
- 40:49Speaker 3: Yeah. I had something like that.
- 40:53Speaker 2: There is much for us to do, but while you
- 40:59Speaker 2: are waiting for the anesthesia to kick in.
- 41:01Speaker 3: I know all about the magazines you have here. They're
- 41:04Speaker 3: not good. Oh, we'll throw on a TV for you. Oh, okay.
- 41:08Speaker 2: TV pops open in the room you're in, in the wall.
- 41:11Speaker 3: Nice. You should consider updating your magazine selection, I'm just saying.
- 41:17Speaker 3: The power to.
- 41:20Speaker 2: See all paper it's amazing.
- 41:23Speaker 3: Yeah well highlights that's already been completed it's you know
- 41:29Speaker 3: it's fun.
- 41:30Speaker 2: The doctors around you are getting ready for the procedure
- 41:34Speaker 2: they bring in a bunch of stuff there's you know
- 41:36Speaker 2: cooler with what you assume would be the organs there's
- 41:41Speaker 2: you know the trays with all the tools that they
- 41:44Speaker 2: need they're washing Manny goes outside of the room to
- 41:49Speaker 2: a viewing room Where he will watch and one of
- 41:53Speaker 2: the doctors comes over. The TV that's just been playing.
- 41:58Speaker 3: Like, I don't know. It's me, Steven Starr reruns. No,
- 42:05Speaker 3: it's something like chill. It's like... Bird documentary. Yeah, it's
- 42:10Speaker 3: really slow.
- 42:11Speaker 1: What is Hacky Sack?
- 42:14Speaker 3: And the manufacturing process behind it. Look at the beans
- 42:18Speaker 3: in there. The stitching. slow panning of all the parks
- 42:23Speaker 3: in New Babel. I'm Jason Turner.
- 42:25Speaker 2: It's not super interesting.
- 42:27Speaker 1: And this is Parks and Hacky Sack.
- 42:30Speaker 2: But it just slows down and zooms in on all
- 42:33Speaker 2: the hacky sackers in the city.
- 42:35Speaker 1: Wow, what form. Some people study years to accomplish the
- 42:41Speaker 1: perfect arc. Let's watch.
- 42:45Speaker 2: You can't hear any of it, but You watch this,
- 42:50Speaker 2: and as you're watching.
- 42:52Speaker 3: Subtitles.
- 42:54Speaker 2: As you're watching, there's an abrupt cut, and it goes
- 43:00Speaker 2: to an active feed in the shoot. The police have
- 43:06Speaker 2: rallied behind a single figure in the station. Thunderfist Ron
- 43:12Speaker 2: stands in riot gear. His right arm is covered, but
- 43:17Speaker 2: you can tell it's different. He raises it, forms a fist,
- 43:25Speaker 2: and a clap of thunder is heard as one of
- 43:29Speaker 2: the doctors pauses, about to have been putting the anesthesia
- 43:34Speaker 2: in the IV, and says, wait, turn this on, what's happening?
- 43:39Speaker 2: You hear Thunderfist run. Bravest and finest of this city,
- 43:46Speaker 2: we've been waiting for this day for a long time
- 43:51Speaker 2: Today we restore order. We combat lawlessness and communism. Don't
- 43:59Speaker 2: let them fool you. Their darkness will spread and they
- 44:04Speaker 2: will force.
- 44:05Speaker 3: A new way of life onto you. Onto us. We
- 44:09Speaker 3: won't have it.
- 44:11Speaker 2: It's a new day. We stand here in the station
- 44:16Speaker 2: and the myth of the wraith has no power over us.
- 44:21Speaker 2: Let's clear him out, boys. The police line begins to
- 44:27Speaker 2: move on the shoot. The shooters stand. The camera pans
- 44:33Speaker 2: over to the shooters. They link arms and stand in
- 44:39Speaker 2: a line. And they sing proudly the anthem of the shoot.
- 44:48Speaker 2: Jameer hasn't shown up yet. Quanta hasn't shown up yet.
- 44:52Speaker 2: It's all happening too quickly. And then you see some
- 44:58Speaker 2: horrible images. The army of police officers moves into the shoot.
- 45:08Speaker 2: They break through the line of shooters with their batons
- 45:12Speaker 2: and their shields. They fire tear gas into homes. They
- 45:17Speaker 2: burst through doors and drag people out of their houses. Old, young,
- 45:24Speaker 2: and everyone in between. There are bullies, Jason. An old
- 45:29Speaker 2: man is dragged out of his house. One of the
- 45:33Speaker 2: paramilitary officers yells, He pulled a knife on us! Throws
- 45:40Speaker 2: him into the middle of four cops who circle him
- 45:44Speaker 2: and begin to beat him. You doubt the old man
- 45:47Speaker 2: will survive. The doctor looks... Shakes his head. Jesus Christ.
- 45:54Speaker 2: She said he's going to hell. He's about to put
- 45:58Speaker 2: the anesthetic in your IV. What does Jason do?
- 46:13Speaker 1: A quandary.
- 46:14Speaker 3: A quantus quandary.
- 46:17Speaker 2: As you decide, take a minute to think.
- 46:19Speaker 3: I know this is a big moment. Sure.
- 46:21Speaker 2: And it is your moment. Jameer, you are in the
- 46:26Speaker 2: shoot a lot right now, around it, having left Jason. Sure,
- 46:31Speaker 2: you have dinner plans, but this does not go on
- 46:34Speaker 2: long without you knowing about it.
- 46:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:37Speaker 2: I'm assuming you are blitzing towards the shoot. Shit, shit.
- 46:42Speaker 4: Yeah. Rigel, again. barely just throws on his helmet, not
- 46:49Speaker 4: even like full costume, and is just flight starring through
- 46:53Speaker 4: the city, low and fast, trying to avoid snipers by
- 46:59Speaker 4: being just a few feet above the ground. Quanta, Quanta,
- 47:04Speaker 4: if you're on comms, I'm so sorry, but it's the shoot,
- 47:08Speaker 4: the shoot.
- 47:11Speaker 3: I need help. They are... They're in. The police, they're in.
- 47:15Speaker 3: I need help. I'm coming.
- 47:18Speaker 1: I finish shutting down the brains of a couple thugs
- 47:21Speaker 1: that were attacking a juice business. Put them to sleep
- 47:27Speaker 1: in front of it and then blast towards the chute.
- 47:31Speaker 3: Rigel, you hear in your earpiece, Jameer, what's going on?
- 47:34Speaker 3: It's Jackie. Jackie, it's so bad. It's so bad. You
- 47:37Speaker 3: got to fly. I'm scared. The chute, Thunderfist Roddy's got powers.
- 47:42Speaker 4: They're trying to destroy the chute right now.
- 47:46Speaker 3: Right now.
- 47:47Speaker 2: You hear across the city the cry of Everwing ripping
- 47:53Speaker 2: through the sky. Okay, I'll tell the boys. You know
- 47:58Speaker 2: that Rock Fist and Bright Blade are about to join you. Quant,
- 48:02Speaker 2: do you feel it as the heroes of the city
- 48:06Speaker 2: converge on the shoot?
- 48:08Speaker 1: Shit, I never got Joshua's phone number. Cube number.
- 48:12Speaker 2: And Jason, you sit here watching these events on the
- 48:16Speaker 2: TV about to be put to sleep and lose your powers.
- 48:20Speaker 1: I mean, I think I did. Then I said the
- 48:22Speaker 1: Phantom has it, right? He wrote down his phone number on.
- 48:25Speaker 3: A piece of paper. Josh has been texting me nonstop.
- 48:28Speaker 2: Josh has been.
- 48:31Speaker 3: Texting Jason.
- 48:32Speaker 1: Sorry to interrupt this serious moment.
- 48:35Speaker 3: No, it's fine. I think Jason looks at the doctor, nods,
- 48:41Speaker 3: and goes to lie down ready for surgery. And before
- 48:46Speaker 3: the needle goes in, something is going to pull him
- 48:50Speaker 3: into the paper that's lying on top of the... the office,
- 48:55Speaker 3: the surgical table, and he's going to get sucked into
- 48:59Speaker 3: the paper dimension by something. Okay. Vanish.
- 49:02Speaker 2: Okay. I want to keep going with you. Before you
- 49:05Speaker 2: do that, Manny, you hear Manny's voice out in the
- 49:09Speaker 2: real world?
- 49:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 49:10Speaker 3: Jason? Jason?
- 49:14Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Jason. I've got to find you. I can't
- 49:17Speaker 2: let you go.
- 49:18Speaker 3: What?
- 49:20Speaker 2: I can't let you get in the way of my plans, Jason.
- 49:25Speaker 2: What is happening must happen. But you are pulled down
- 49:30Speaker 2: into the paper dimension, Manny's voice echoing as that happens.
- 49:35Speaker 2: What's going on?
- 49:36Speaker 3: Jason is looking up like, You know, as if sinking
- 49:39Speaker 3: into a pool with just this one opening that is
- 49:42Speaker 3: the paper he fell through, hearing those words echo. And
- 49:46Speaker 3: he touches down on something in the darkness. And finally,
- 49:51Speaker 3: for the longest time, he hasn't heard the voice. But
- 49:55Speaker 3: the phantom emerges from the shadows. Time you and me
- 49:59Speaker 3: had a little chat. I don't have anything to say
- 50:02Speaker 3: to you. Okay, I want you gone. You think taking
- 50:10Speaker 3: the book out's gonna make me go away? I've been
- 50:13Speaker 3: with you since the beginning, Jason. Always been there. Don't
- 50:18Speaker 3: you remember? The Hendersons. The fire. You've always had a troubled,
- 50:25Speaker 3: dark side. The book just let you express it. Well,
- 50:28Speaker 3: then all the more reason to take your power away.
- 50:30Speaker 3: If you're just gonna hurt people, what's the point? You
- 50:33Speaker 3: still think you're the main character?
- 50:35Speaker 1: No.
- 50:36Speaker 3: No. No, I don't want to be the main character anymore.
- 50:39Speaker 3: I don't know what I am. Jason, you're not the
- 50:44Speaker 3: main character. You're the author. What? You created me. I'm
- 50:52Speaker 3: a tool for you to use to control. Point me
- 50:57Speaker 3: in the direction and I'll do what needs to be done.
- 51:01Speaker 3: You heard him. Can't trust Manny or Adam or whatever
- 51:05Speaker 3: the fuck his name is. You might have lost a lot,
- 51:08Speaker 3: but there's more that you could lose. I'm the author,
- 51:13Speaker 3: so we're... We are separate. Separate, but stronger together. Let's
- 51:19Speaker 3: help them. But you have to choose. Not gonna let
- 51:23Speaker 3: them get hurt. We are not gonna let them get hurt.
- 51:28Speaker 3: Fuck yes. And the phantom is gonna come out of
- 51:34Speaker 3: the paper on the surgical table and... uppercut Manny in
- 51:38Speaker 3: the face and make his way, if he can, to
- 51:42Speaker 3: try and help his friends.
- 51:44Speaker 2: You come out of the paper, uppercut Manny in the face.
- 51:48Speaker 2: His jaw doesn't budge.
- 51:51Speaker 4: Crumple.
- 51:52Speaker 2: Ow. I can't let you stop this. He reaches out
- 51:57Speaker 2: to grab you. We'll stop right here. Rigel, you arrive
- 52:03Speaker 2: at the chute first. They've already made it a few
- 52:09Speaker 2: L's into the chute and are terrorizing the homes there.
- 52:14Speaker 2: You see smoke. You see fog. You see batons. You
- 52:19Speaker 2: see broken shooters lying on the ground. You hear a
- 52:23Speaker 2: garbled song of the chute still trying to exist in
- 52:29Speaker 2: this space.
- 52:33Speaker 4: Rigel is going to flight star to like the back
- 52:39Speaker 4: of like this mob of police following Thunderfist Ron and
- 52:44Speaker 4: Rigel's just gonna start knife handing officers in the knees
- 52:51Speaker 4: just kneecapping motherfuckers just just not lethal still but just Fully,
- 53:00Speaker 4: they will never walk the same again. Just knife hands
- 53:04Speaker 4: all the way through. Their grandchildren won't be able to
- 53:09Speaker 4: walk with Papa like I'm just fucking their legs up.
- 53:16Speaker 2: Rigel arrives to protect his home.
- 53:24Speaker 3: The pops!
- 53:26Speaker 2: Working his way Towards the front of this mob. Quan,
- 53:30Speaker 2: do you arrive next?
- 53:32Speaker 3: Where do you arrive?
- 53:33Speaker 2: What do you do?
- 53:34Speaker 1: I go right for Thunderfist. Appear in front of him.
- 53:37Speaker 2: What do you say?
- 53:40Speaker 1: You know what always comes after lightning? I grab his
- 53:51Speaker 1: temples and try to shut him down. Okay.
- 53:55Speaker 3: Okay.
- 53:56Speaker 2: Next, Everwing zips into the chute from the front of
- 54:01Speaker 2: the station and goes to the very front of the
- 54:04Speaker 2: line of police and starts defending, knocking back officers, trying
- 54:10Speaker 2: to stop their forward movement. Rockfist blasts out of the ground,
- 54:19Speaker 2: having smashed his way up from the tunnels.
- 54:23Speaker 3: He dies.
- 54:24Speaker 2: He blasts right into the center of this police crowd.
- 54:27Speaker 2: This is bad. Starts just smashing officers and the bright
- 54:34Speaker 2: blade flips over them in the back with you. Rigel
- 54:40Speaker 2: sees what you're doing and starts following less blunt, but
- 54:45Speaker 2: just starts cutting Achilles heels as he.
- 54:49Speaker 3: Follows your lead.
- 54:57Speaker 2: And that's where we'll end this episode of the Team
