- 0:22Speaker 1: You are listening to Eagles postgame analysis here at the
- 0:24Speaker 1: Philadelphia Sports Table podcast show, the longest running weekly Philly
- 0:27Speaker 1: sports podcast show in the world, over twelve and a
- 0:30Speaker 1: half years strong. And my goodness, the Philadelphia Eagles actually
- 0:33Speaker 1: won here in week seventeen against the Buffalo Bills up
- 0:36Speaker 1: in Buffalo by a score of thirteen to twelve, and
- 0:41Speaker 1: it came down to the last few seconds of the game.
- 0:44Speaker 1: My goodness, we are certainly going to get into it
- 0:46Speaker 1: on this Eagles postgame show. I'm Jeff Warren. I'm joined
- 0:50Speaker 1: this week by our good friend of the podcast, filling
- 0:52Speaker 1: in for the guys from Philadelphia soccernow dot com. And
- 0:56Speaker 1: you've seen him or heard him on our PSD podcast
- 0:59Speaker 1: shows every year or yeah, our postgame shows Eagles postgame
- 1:02Speaker 1: shows every now and again. Our friend Josh Schuster. Buddy,
- 1:06Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, what a game. What a game. I
- 1:09Speaker 1: was like dead at the end of the game. I
- 1:11Speaker 1: was telling you I had to have my wife roll
- 1:13Speaker 1: me down here into the studio because I was like,
- 1:15Speaker 1: I was just dead. I couldn't take it anymore. Man, Like,
- 1:17Speaker 1: what a game. Not great by any stretch of the
- 1:19Speaker 1: imagination for the Philadelphia Eagles. I mean, it was a
- 1:22Speaker 1: tale of two halves for sure from an offensive standpoint.
- 1:24Speaker 1: But man, a win, I guess is a win here.
- 1:28Speaker 1: And this team is eleven and five on the season here, man,
- 1:31Speaker 1: and they're looking to get that number two spot. But
- 1:34Speaker 1: we're gonna dive into our themes from the game and
- 1:36Speaker 1: grade these units. So why don't you start us off? Buddy,
- 1:40Speaker 1: first and foremost, thank you for joining us here, But wow,
- 1:44Speaker 1: why don't we get into our themes of this game
- 1:45Speaker 1: because there's a few of them for sure.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Yeah, anytime, Jeff, I'm always happy to hop on. I
- 1:51Speaker 2: think for me, there's one major theme, and I'm gonna
- 1:57Speaker 2: start with organization and then I'm gonna move into quarterback.
- 2:00Speaker 2: To me, and I'm not calling the Buffalo Bills a
- 2:04Speaker 2: loser organization or a bad organization, but this game, to me,
- 2:08Speaker 2: highlighted exactly what a winning organization knows how to do
- 2:13Speaker 2: and how to win. And an organization, I want to say,
- 2:17Speaker 2: is trying to learn how to win. But they've had
- 2:19Speaker 2: so many opportunities. It's just they're incapable of capturing that moment. Yeah,
- 2:27Speaker 2: I mean, there's no reason to go for two there, right,
- 2:29Speaker 2: It's not affecting your playoff seating anything.
- 2:31Speaker 3: It's just dumb.
- 2:32Speaker 2: They're just dumb when it comes or they don't make
- 2:35Speaker 2: the play. And this I'm going to have a trickle
- 2:39Speaker 2: down to the quarterbacks because a lot of people say, oh,
- 2:43Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts is a winner, but there's no way to
- 2:45Speaker 2: measure it.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Well, today's the way to measure it.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Right.
- 2:48Speaker 2: All week we heard Josh Allen is amazing, YadA, YadA YadA,
- 2:52Speaker 2: But Josh Allen cost his team five points today which
- 2:55Speaker 2: cost them to win. Yes, see, Jalen Hurts doesn't take
- 2:58Speaker 2: that really stupid sack that gets them out of field goal.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Rate nineteen yard sack. Yeah, he plays hero.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Ball, And I text you there is one quarterback in
- 3:09Speaker 2: the NFL that can play hero ball and win championships,
- 3:13Speaker 2: and it's Patrick Mahomes and he may wind up being
- 3:16Speaker 2: the greatest quarterback to ever play the game. So to
- 3:19Speaker 2: try to do that every week, it's not going to
- 3:22Speaker 2: be effective. The other thing is with the game on
- 3:26Speaker 2: the line, because your coach decides to go for it,
- 3:28Speaker 2: you have a wide open wide receiver in the end zone.
- 3:31Speaker 2: I mean there's not anybody within four or five yards
- 3:34Speaker 2: of the wide receiver. He can't make the play. He
- 3:36Speaker 2: just can't make to play. And it's becoming a theme
- 3:39Speaker 2: with Josh Allen. But the reality is is when people
- 3:42Speaker 2: want to say you can't measure what winning is, it's
- 3:46Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts. I don't care that Jalen Hurts was like
- 3:48Speaker 2: fifty percent completion today. I know for a fact he's
- 3:51Speaker 2: making that two point conversion play. Throw either that or
- 3:54Speaker 2: he's going to run it in himself. I know it,
- 3:56Speaker 2: And I know Jalen Hurts isn't going to take that sack.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Do you know how?
- 3:59Speaker 2: I know because the next play or the next series
- 4:04Speaker 2: after that whole backle with Josh Allen where they had
- 4:07Speaker 2: to punt it, Hurts scrambles to the outside just like
- 4:11Speaker 2: Josh Allen, and you know what he does.
- 4:12Speaker 3: He throws the ball away. He throws it away.
- 4:15Speaker 2: He doesn't try to play hero ball wrap back around. No,
- 4:18Speaker 2: he just throws it away and says, you know what
- 4:20Speaker 2: defense is doing, great, let's go ahead the whole game.
- 4:25Speaker 2: My second theme is just bizarre. The whole second half.
- 4:29Speaker 2: The fact that the Eagles can't get more than seventeen
- 4:31Speaker 2: yards incredible. It takes the game comes down to one
- 4:35Speaker 2: final play on a two point conversion because of the
- 4:38Speaker 2: miraculous trick play where they do like the hitch throw
- 4:43Speaker 2: and then run it on a fourth and ten. Who
- 4:46Speaker 2: goes for it on fourth and ten when the defense
- 4:48Speaker 2: has only given up seventeen.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Yards for the whole second half. That made no sense
- 4:53Speaker 3: to me.
- 4:53Speaker 2: But then they bomb it down the field in a
- 4:55Speaker 2: monsoon and it's miraculous catch, Like literally the wide receiver
- 4:59Speaker 2: doesn't have the ball, it just happens to land on
- 5:01Speaker 2: Test on top of him. Marks As just playing fantastic
- 5:05Speaker 2: defense and he just happens.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Just bounced right right where it needed to be. Yep.
- 5:09Speaker 2: And Brandon Cooks has been like cooked for years and
- 5:12Speaker 2: somehow he's making this just miracle catch, Like it's a
- 5:16Speaker 2: two miracle plays back to back pretty much in order
- 5:20Speaker 2: for the game to go to this two point conversion
- 5:23Speaker 2: and then the Knox falls, you know, a half yard
- 5:27Speaker 2: away from the end zone instead of inside it.
- 5:29Speaker 1: It just was bizarre, absolutely bizarre. Going back to what
- 5:34Speaker 1: you were talking about with Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts,
- 5:37Speaker 1: I just want to mention for folks go back in
- 5:39Speaker 1: the podcast feed and whether you're watching on YouTube, whether
- 5:44Speaker 1: you're watching or listening on whatever podcast platform you're on.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Our guest recent guest, oj Spivey talked about how Jalen
- 5:51Speaker 1: Hurts was managing the game where he was it's the
- 5:54Speaker 1: turnover management or lack of turnovers in terms of that management.
- 5:59Speaker 1: It goes to exactly what Josh was just talking about,
- 6:01Speaker 1: going so far as to say that Jalen Hurts, while
- 6:05Speaker 1: yes fifty percent completion percentage in this game, only one
- 6:09Speaker 1: hundred and ten yards through the air, he only averaged
- 6:12Speaker 1: four point one yards per attempt and he ended with
- 6:15Speaker 1: a rating of seventy one point five, a not great
- 6:20Speaker 1: showing on the stat sheet by Jalen Hurts, But he
- 6:23Speaker 1: didn't turn the ball over, and he is consistently doing
- 6:26Speaker 1: this game after game after game. And yes, we are
- 6:29Speaker 1: frustrated with third and long. How many times have we
- 6:32Speaker 1: talked about it on this postgame show? Third and long sucks.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Third and long is what this offense consistently gets into
- 6:38Speaker 1: for a variety of reasons. But Jalen Hurts doesn't turn
- 6:42Speaker 1: of the ball and he doesn't put the offense in
- 6:44Speaker 1: a horrendous position like Josh Allen did, and it is
- 6:49Speaker 1: we need to be celebrating that more, or maybe not celebrating,
- 6:52Speaker 1: but talking about that more. And I'm so glad, Josh
- 6:55Speaker 1: that you brought that up because it's a huge theme
- 6:57Speaker 1: of this game. Jalen Hurts did not turn the ball over.
- 7:00Speaker 1: The Eagles did not lose this game that we've all
- 7:03Speaker 1: been anticipating since the beginning of the year when we
- 7:06Speaker 1: saw that this game was Week seventeen. We have been
- 7:10Speaker 1: anticipating what was going to happen here to really good
- 7:14Speaker 1: football teams, two very good organizations going up against each other.
- 7:18Speaker 1: And we saw who came out on top. Yes it
- 7:20Speaker 1: was by a point, and yes the Eagles offense was
- 7:22Speaker 1: absolutely anemic in the second half with the only seventeen
- 7:25Speaker 1: total yards. At the end of the day, Jalen Hurts
- 7:29Speaker 1: did what he needed to do to win this game,
- 7:32Speaker 1: and it needs to be talked about more, folks. So
- 7:35Speaker 1: that being said, Josh completely agree with you, and I
- 7:37Speaker 1: think that's the biggest takeaway really from this game. But
- 7:41Speaker 1: I also want to mention too, on the flip side
- 7:44Speaker 1: of things when it comes to the play calling, when
- 7:46Speaker 1: it comes to the coaching and what the offensive coaching
- 7:49Speaker 1: has continued to do time and time again, throughout this season.
- 7:54Speaker 1: There was a really good thought from our friend of
- 7:57Speaker 1: the pod, Brandon Lee Gouten from Bleedinggreen Nation dot com.
- 8:00Speaker 1: He shot off a tweet Now, I wanted to read
- 8:02Speaker 1: that to folks, because it really does encapsulate what the
- 8:06Speaker 1: Eagles offensive mentality really is and has been time and
- 8:11Speaker 1: time again throughout this season. He said, taking the Eagles
- 8:15Speaker 1: offense out of rhythm by playing so conservative probably makes
- 8:19Speaker 1: it hard for them to try to get a good
- 8:21Speaker 1: flow going when they're absolutely when they absolutely need to
- 8:24Speaker 1: late in the game. Seems that Sirianni and Patullo obviously
- 8:28Speaker 1: learn nothing from the Cowboys and Broncos games, and that's
- 8:32Speaker 1: got to be another theme here as well. I mean,
- 8:34Speaker 1: it is absolutely astonishing that this offense, with the talent
- 8:38Speaker 1: that they have on it. Josh, how many times have
- 8:40Speaker 1: we said this on this podcast show, where it's, oh,
- 8:44Speaker 1: they're not getting the yards they need to in the
- 8:45Speaker 1: second half. You know, how can this be happening when
- 8:48Speaker 1: you have aj Brown, DeVante Smith, Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts
- 8:52Speaker 1: can use his legs and he's not that bad of
- 8:54Speaker 1: a passer either, by the way. To only have seventeen
- 8:57Speaker 1: yards and you're going to take this offense out of
- 8:59Speaker 1: a rhythm in the second half, and then and then
- 9:02Speaker 1: the game comes down to what it came down to,
- 9:05Speaker 1: and quite frankly and in EP Josh Allen on a
- 9:08Speaker 1: two point conversion that it was a terrible throw by him. Thankfully,
- 9:13Speaker 1: the Eagles end up winning the game because of that.
- 9:17Speaker 1: It's just it's just astonishing to me that this this
- 9:21Speaker 1: offensive minded organization here hasn't quite grasped that this isn't
- 9:28Speaker 1: the most conducive way to win a football game here
- 9:31Speaker 1: in the NFL, even though they're eleven and five. Yes,
- 9:34Speaker 1: it's not the best way to win a football game.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I don't know your thoughts here, and I thought Blg's
- 9:37Speaker 1: tweet was was absolutely spot on.
- 9:41Speaker 3: I love BLG.
- 9:42Speaker 2: He's one of my favorite follows out on Twitter because
- 9:45Speaker 2: I think he I think number one, he's level headed
- 9:48Speaker 2: and number two, I think he puts a lot of
- 9:51Speaker 2: really good information out there, and I don't think he
- 9:53Speaker 2: slants his information. I think he's very very good at
- 9:56Speaker 2: what he does. I agree completely what he saying, and
- 10:00Speaker 2: I think for me today it was a light bulb
- 10:03Speaker 2: moment with the Eagles offense. Jeff I've been on a
- 10:06Speaker 2: number of times for the post games this year, Yes,
- 10:09Speaker 2: and every time I come on, I say the same thing.
- 10:15Speaker 2: This offense cannot play a complete sixty minutes outside of
- 10:19Speaker 2: the Raiders scheme. I'll give them the Raiders game. And
- 10:23Speaker 2: today I finally had my light bulb moment. I know
- 10:27Speaker 2: why because it feels like, and I'm not saying that
- 10:30Speaker 2: this is the case, because I would find it ridiculous
- 10:33Speaker 2: if this was the case, and I hope it's not
- 10:34Speaker 2: the case.
- 10:36Speaker 3: It feels like at some point in.
- 10:39Speaker 2: The game, Siriani and Patulo get together and they decide
- 10:44Speaker 2: that the offense has done enough.
- 10:46Speaker 3: They're just gonna let the defense take over.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Yah.
- 10:50Speaker 2: And I think one of the most dangerous things that
- 10:52Speaker 2: happened was the Eagles got such a good defense last
- 10:56Speaker 2: year and won the Super Bowl, because I think it
- 10:59Speaker 2: in a Sirianni and Kevin Pittulau to have those kind
- 11:04Speaker 2: of thoughts. Yeah, and I genuinely am not expecting them
- 11:09Speaker 2: to play a complete sixty minute game as an offense
- 11:14Speaker 2: like that expectation. After today is done, there's one game left.
- 11:19Speaker 2: It will likely be all backups next week, even if
- 11:22Speaker 2: the Bears lose tonight. I imagine it still will be
- 11:25Speaker 2: all backups next week. And I think even with the
- 11:28Speaker 2: backups in there, you're going to see the same thing.
- 11:31Speaker 2: They'll get up by a certain amount and they'll just say, Okay,
- 11:34Speaker 2: that's enough, we're good. Or in the first half, you know,
- 11:37Speaker 2: we've seen it this year where the offense just isn't
- 11:40Speaker 2: doing anything. They're not you know, they're just very bland,
- 11:44Speaker 2: very conservative, and they're losing. And now all of a sudden,
- 11:48Speaker 2: it's about the second half adjustments. It's like, no, they
- 11:50Speaker 2: just decided to not be conservative anymore. And it's it's infuriating.
- 11:55Speaker 2: As a fan.
- 11:56Speaker 3: I don't and I can This is.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Where I think aj brand for as much as I
- 12:01Speaker 2: can't stand diva antics, I think, without saying it, this
- 12:06Speaker 2: is what he's getting at. Yeah, and you and I
- 12:08Speaker 2: were texting, Kevin Petulo's doing a great job.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Look at this offense.
- 12:12Speaker 2: They're they're running like they're doing all of these things,
- 12:15Speaker 2: and then they come out and they start throwing the
- 12:17Speaker 2: ball in a monsoon. Yes, and it's it's not smart plays.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Like if you look at the coordinating efforts in the
- 12:24Speaker 2: second half between Buffalo and Philadelphia, Buffalo wasn't really except
- 12:30Speaker 2: for that last drive when they had to. They weren't
- 12:32Speaker 2: bombing it downfield anymore. Right, They're doing short routes. They're
- 12:35Speaker 2: doing exactly what the Eagles did in the first half.
- 12:38Speaker 2: But then for whatever reason in the second half, Kevin
- 12:40Speaker 2: Petulo's like, well, I know we've been running the ball well,
- 12:43Speaker 2: but we're not going to do that anymore, and we're
- 12:45Speaker 2: just gonna start bombs. It's like, why you're up by
- 12:49Speaker 2: thirteen points. Yeah, this makes zero sense anyway.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just tailor two halves. From an offensive perspective, Look,
- 12:56Speaker 1: first half, the Eagles were absolutely incredible. I mean the
- 13:01Speaker 1: defense was also incredible. I mean, we're gonna certainly talk
- 13:04Speaker 1: about them, but the offense being the fact that we're
- 13:08Speaker 1: seeing a tail of two halves again is just ridiculous.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I mean, they couldn't get a first down to save
- 13:13Speaker 1: their life in the third quarter. They started the game
- 13:16Speaker 1: going three to five on third down and then subsequently
- 13:19Speaker 1: went I think it was oh of eight on third down.
- 13:23Speaker 1: I think that's what it was. Oh And they didn't
- 13:25Speaker 1: have a completion in the second half at all. They
- 13:28Speaker 1: had no completion at all. Jalen Ertz didn't have a completion.
- 13:33Speaker 1: So it's just it's amazing to me how the defense
- 13:38Speaker 1: has had to in my theme going forward here, amazing
- 13:41Speaker 1: how the defense had to completely pick this team up
- 13:45Speaker 1: the first half. The Eagles defense was incredible, absolutely vicious
- 13:49Speaker 1: in the first half. Not only were they on a
- 13:51Speaker 1: mission with they're tackling, they were making Josh Allen uncomfortable
- 13:57Speaker 1: and uncomfortable a lot throughout the game. Secondary was really
- 14:01Speaker 1: great in coverage first half. They only allowed James Cook
- 14:04Speaker 1: to rush for thirty nine yards on nine carries. The
- 14:07Speaker 1: Bills had five possessions in the first half, they only
- 14:10Speaker 1: six first downs. Cook came into this game averaging five
- 14:14Speaker 1: point three yards per carry. He ended up averaging three
- 14:18Speaker 1: point seven yards per carry. Seventy four yards on twenty
- 14:22Speaker 1: carries is long being ten. The Eagles defense did their
- 14:26Speaker 1: job and then some and then some. In this game.
- 14:31Speaker 1: We can talk about Moro Jomo, who has at one
- 14:35Speaker 1: point he had the most sacks of an Eagles defensive
- 14:38Speaker 1: player with six on the season. What was interesting he
- 14:40Speaker 1: and Jalx Hunt going back and forth with each other
- 14:42Speaker 1: because earlier the game, Jylex Hunt had a sack brought
- 14:45Speaker 1: his sack total to five point five sacks on the
- 14:48Speaker 1: season at that point, most by any Eagles player this season.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Then we had Moro Ojomo get a sack going back,
- 14:58Speaker 1: took his sack total to six, and then it was
- 15:01Speaker 1: I think Jaylex Hunt getting another sack and now he's
- 15:03Speaker 1: at six point five. They were going back and forth.
- 15:05Speaker 1: So that was actually fun to watch. But this Eagles defense,
- 15:09Speaker 1: I mean, they were on fire. I mean they were
- 15:11Speaker 1: tackling like freaking missiles out there. And the fact that
- 15:15Speaker 1: Vic Fango has this young crew playing at the high
- 15:18Speaker 1: level that they are. This is championship caliber defensive play
- 15:22Speaker 1: here week in and week out. And it concerns me
- 15:26Speaker 1: that that Kevin Patulo and specifically the head coach Nick Siriani,
- 15:31Speaker 1: will allow this to continue happening as the playoffs are
- 15:34Speaker 1: right around the corner here, Josh, because it's not gonna
- 15:36Speaker 1: get any easier because there's some really talented teams in
- 15:38Speaker 1: this NFC. As we know, I don't know if the
- 15:42Speaker 1: defense can actually carry the team completely. We're gonna need
- 15:46Speaker 1: to see a full game from the Eagles offense at
- 15:48Speaker 1: some point down the road here.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Yeah, And for me, you know, I mean, I'm glad
- 15:53Speaker 2: the Birds won, Yes, because I didn't want any comments
- 15:57Speaker 2: or anything like that that the defense blew the game.
- 16:01Speaker 2: So I know one of the previous ones I was on,
- 16:04Speaker 2: somebody made a comment about that we didn't blame the defense.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Or talk about the defense. I love this, I got news.
- 16:09Speaker 2: For you, So that that kind of really took me off.
- 16:12Speaker 2: And so I went and I did an average of
- 16:16Speaker 2: what winning teams offense, what their offense pointant puts up,
- 16:22Speaker 2: and it's twenty six point seven points.
- 16:24Speaker 3: So until we hit.
- 16:25Speaker 2: That threshold, until there's twenty seven points given up by
- 16:29Speaker 2: the defense, I'm not blaming the defense today. If you
- 16:32Speaker 2: hold Josh Allen to fourteen points, there's absolutely no reason
- 16:36Speaker 2: why you can blame the defense. Yeah, Like that's that
- 16:39Speaker 2: just doesn't happen. I mean, I don't have the bill
- 16:41Speaker 2: schedule in front of me, but I don't know how
- 16:43Speaker 2: many times they've scored fourteen points or fewer this season.
- 16:46Speaker 3: It can't be that many.
- 16:48Speaker 2: So like, I don't I don't want to hear anything
- 16:51Speaker 2: about how the defense almost blewid or anything. The offense
- 16:54Speaker 2: had seventeen points in the second half.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Yeah, to hear about whether it's seventeen yards.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Yeah, Sorry, seventeen yards. Yeah, they couldn't even get their
- 17:03Speaker 2: their seventeen points. Anyway, the Bills had to play in
- 17:08Speaker 2: sav exact weather and they were able to move the ball.
- 17:10Speaker 2: And Vic Fangio and you and I were texting about this.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Vic Fangio, he doesn't play that quote unquote pre event defense,
- 17:18Speaker 2: which is actually allowance defense. And I talked about the fact,
- 17:22Speaker 2: I love the fact that games on the line on
- 17:25Speaker 2: both third and fourth down, He's blitz it, like I
- 17:29Speaker 2: love it. He's only sending one person, But you know what,
- 17:31Speaker 2: it's better than sitting back seven to ten yards.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Yeah, when they only needs ten yards.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Yes, So there's As far as I'm concerned, there is
- 17:42Speaker 2: really no game this year that the Eagles defense has
- 17:45Speaker 2: cost them.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Absolutely it has been the offense no show.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Real quick, I mean real quick. I mean the Philadelphia
- 17:52Speaker 1: Eagles offense put up one hundred ninety yards. To contrast
- 17:58Speaker 1: that the Buffalo Bills offense they put up three hundred
- 18:01Speaker 1: and thirty one yards. The time of possession in this game,
- 18:05Speaker 1: Josh thirty five minutes and fifteen seconds. The Bills had
- 18:09Speaker 1: to the Eagles twenty four minutes and forty five seconds.
- 18:12Speaker 1: So the Bills not only win out in terms of
- 18:14Speaker 1: total yards, but they win time of possession average yards
- 18:18Speaker 1: per play. The Bills were at four point five yards,
- 18:21Speaker 1: Eagles were at three point five yards. Whoever wins total
- 18:24Speaker 1: yards per per play usually ends up winning the game
- 18:28Speaker 1: more time nine times out of ten. And that didn't
- 18:32Speaker 1: happen here. Yes, because Josh Allen wasn't playing as well
- 18:35Speaker 1: down the stret at least to that two point conversion.
- 18:38Speaker 1: But there is no way that anybody can say, like
- 18:41Speaker 1: you're saying that the Eagles defense should be held culpable
- 18:44Speaker 1: for anything that happened in this game that adversely affected
- 18:48Speaker 1: the Eagles in general. It was all the Eagles offense.
- 18:51Speaker 1: I mean, Saquon Barkley only had sixty eight yards on
- 18:54Speaker 1: the ground. And that's another theme as well. Dude, every
- 18:58Speaker 1: single rushing play, at least one Eagles offensive lineman was
- 19:04Speaker 1: missing their assignment at least one a number of times
- 19:07Speaker 1: where there were two and we're talking we're talking Jordan
- 19:11Speaker 1: Mylotta Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens. Of course, you've got Tyler Steen,
- 19:16Speaker 1: who has struggled here and there throughout the season. Fred Johnson,
- 19:20Speaker 1: of course, we know his struggles over the past few
- 19:22Speaker 1: games as well. But my goodness, at least every single
- 19:26Speaker 1: running play there was one offensive lineman that missed their assignment.
- 19:30Speaker 1: And when that is happening, your run game is not
- 19:33Speaker 1: going to be able to get to where it needs
- 19:34Speaker 1: to be. I don't care who your running back is.
- 19:37Speaker 1: It was that was really frustrating.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Well yeah, and I agree. And it's also going to
- 19:41Speaker 2: impact the passing game. Yeah, So why the play design
- 19:44Speaker 2: is to keep bombing the ball down the field?
- 19:46Speaker 3: It just it's fasting.
- 19:49Speaker 2: If you can see, if everyone can see that the
- 19:51Speaker 2: offensive line is not as good as it normally is
- 19:55Speaker 2: year in and year out for the Eagles. Stop bombing
- 19:58Speaker 2: it down the field on every single play. You need
- 20:01Speaker 2: to start throwing some quicker routes and stop calling screen
- 20:05Speaker 2: passes to Aj Brown. I don't understand this fascination with
- 20:11Speaker 2: not throwing Like.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Aj Brown is not.
- 20:13Speaker 2: A speed receiver. He is a possession receiver. He is
- 20:17Speaker 2: a throw the ball in contact, he'll make the catch receiver.
- 20:21Speaker 2: So why is he the one you choose to run
- 20:24Speaker 2: the screen pass with instead of DeVante Smith. I don't
- 20:28Speaker 2: There's a lot that I really don't understand about the
- 20:33Speaker 2: play calling, and.
- 20:34Speaker 3: It seems to happen all at once.
- 20:36Speaker 2: It's like when they go conservative, all of a sudden,
- 20:39Speaker 2: all the baffling play calling happens.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Yes, I don't it does.
- 20:44Speaker 2: I don't understand it at all. Why don't the Eagles
- 20:48Speaker 2: do more hurry up offense?
- 20:49Speaker 1: I know when they run tempo they are absolutely successful
- 20:53Speaker 1: on the offensive size the ball. They are absolutely successful
- 20:55Speaker 1: when they're running tempo. Man, it's incredible.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Like the other thing I I text you this, I
- 21:01Speaker 2: did not understand when you see the builds are moving
- 21:04Speaker 2: the ball down the field right like they're moving the
- 21:06Speaker 2: ball down the field. Why why is Sirianni not calling
- 21:10Speaker 2: the time out? Like are you perfectly content with just
- 21:14Speaker 2: going to overtime and hoping you win when the team
- 21:16Speaker 2: has done nothing offensively the whole game?
- 21:19Speaker 3: Like I.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Just goes back to Belg's tweet about them get just
- 21:26Speaker 1: completely getting out of rhythm and and Sirianni and Kevin
- 21:29Speaker 1: Patulo being absolutely fine by that. I do want to
- 21:33Speaker 1: touch on something else, which was pretty bizarre that the
- 21:38Speaker 1: first kickoff of the game, the Eagles kickoff unit was
- 21:42Speaker 1: penalized because they weren't lined up correctly. Oh my gosh,
- 21:46Speaker 1: So what actually happened was Fred Johnson ran onto the
- 21:48Speaker 1: field without his helmet, had to hurry back to get
- 21:52Speaker 1: his helmet, and then went back onto the field. They're
- 21:54Speaker 1: penalized for it. Just unbelievable course of events there. The
- 21:58Speaker 1: first three plays of the Eagles offense, they were all
- 22:01Speaker 1: passes against one of the best secondaries in a monsoon. Yes, meanwhile,
- 22:06Speaker 1: the Bills of one of the worst run defenses in
- 22:08Speaker 1: the league on the opposite side of things here, So
- 22:11Speaker 1: they throw three passes, they go three and out that
- 22:14Speaker 1: the Eagles do, then they have to punt. Then on
- 22:17Speaker 1: the second drive of the game, they came out with
- 22:19Speaker 1: three runs, got a first down by the way, and oh,
- 22:23Speaker 1: they ended up on a third and eight. They decided
- 22:26Speaker 1: to rush Will Shipley on a third and eight, and
- 22:29Speaker 1: I had to bring up Will Shipley because I know
- 22:32Speaker 1: he's your arch nemesis in this world on these post
- 22:36Speaker 1: game shows. Just an unbelievable confluence of decision making. And
- 22:41Speaker 1: the Eagles ended up getting going on offense really after
- 22:44Speaker 1: that particular drive in the first half. But my goodness,
- 22:48Speaker 1: just a bizarre play calling. Like you said, the game
- 22:51Speaker 1: was so bizarre in so many ways.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Well, yeah, most of the time.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Most of the time, for most teams in the league,
- 23:01Speaker 2: your first drive you're successful on.
- 23:05Speaker 3: It's scripted. Please, the Eagles.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Don't factor any It's like they've made up their mind
- 23:12Speaker 2: the night before. They don't care what the weather is,
- 23:14Speaker 2: they don't care what the circumstances are.
- 23:16Speaker 3: We're just gonna do this.
- 23:18Speaker 2: And it's like, I'm sitting there, I'm like, Okay, it's
- 23:23Speaker 2: another three and out here. We are the team in
- 23:26Speaker 2: the league with the most three and outs, and we're
- 23:28Speaker 2: starting off with the three and out.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Fantastic.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Josh Allen is on the other side, So now we've
- 23:34Speaker 2: given up a free possession of Josh Allen.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Great.
- 23:39Speaker 2: I just so, I've never seen a team, and I've
- 23:46Speaker 2: watched a lot of football in my lifetime, I don't
- 23:49Speaker 2: ever recall a team being this unsuccessful with their scripted drives.
- 23:57Speaker 2: It's honestly, at this point, it's amazing. Yeah, it's astounding.
- 24:02Speaker 2: I don't know how this continues to happen week in
- 24:05Speaker 2: and week out. The other thing is they put up
- 24:08Speaker 2: a graphic which I didn't realize it was this bad,
- 24:11Speaker 2: but the average yards to go on third down.
- 24:14Speaker 3: For the Eagles this year is seven seven. I mean,
- 24:17Speaker 3: that is just horrendous. Jeff.
- 24:20Speaker 2: We're not at week three where it's like, okay, you know, no, No,
- 24:24Speaker 2: we have one game left in the season and we're
- 24:26Speaker 2: looking at an average of third and seven.
- 24:28Speaker 3: Yeah on third down. I just that is I thought
- 24:33Speaker 3: I was reading it wrong.
- 24:34Speaker 2: So I had to rewind and I'm like, no, it
- 24:36Speaker 2: says season, not you know, game or month.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Yes. Anyway, anyway, this team still ends up finding ways
- 24:43Speaker 1: to win and again really coming down to Jalen Hurts,
- 24:47Speaker 1: not turning over the ball, making good decisions. So we'd
- 24:52Speaker 1: love to hear from you. If you're watching on YouTube,
- 24:54Speaker 1: leave us a comment about your themes in this game.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Let us know what your thoughts are. Josh and I
- 25:00Speaker 1: have been talking about here. Do you agree with us?
- 25:02Speaker 1: Do you disagree with us? Leave us a comment and
- 25:05Speaker 1: we'd love to talk about it here on the podcast
- 25:08Speaker 1: at some point down the road. So that being said, Buddy,
- 25:11Speaker 1: before we get to our break and then getting into
- 25:13Speaker 1: the grades by unit, do you have any other themes
- 25:17Speaker 1: that you want to dive into here? I think we
- 25:18Speaker 1: covered a lot.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Can't wait for that scheduled by week next week. No,
- 25:24Speaker 2: I mean, in all seriousness, my main takeaway is this
- 25:30Speaker 2: the NFL made a huge mistake by extending the season.
- 25:33Speaker 3: The game.
- 25:34Speaker 2: I mean there are almost no games with meaning, yeah,
- 25:38Speaker 2: it's going to be just an atrocious week of football
- 25:42Speaker 2: next week. I mean, congrats, I guess you get one
- 25:44Speaker 2: more week of revenue, but it is it is going
- 25:47Speaker 2: to be a poor product.
- 25:49Speaker 3: And not just for the Eagles.
- 25:50Speaker 2: I'm talking like across the league, and I just there's
- 25:54Speaker 2: players today I had nothing to play for and they're
- 25:58Speaker 2: getting season and the injuries that are going to carry
- 26:01Speaker 2: into next year, and it's just like, Yeah, the NFL
- 26:04Speaker 2: season is just too long. Yeah, and we kind of
- 26:08Speaker 2: get to this point where I'm like, Okay, I'm ready for,
- 26:12Speaker 2: you know, the playoffs.
- 26:13Speaker 3: Ready for anyway?
- 26:14Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, well, folks, we are going to take
- 26:17Speaker 1: a break here, and when we get back, we're going
- 26:19Speaker 1: to grade each unit as we do on our Eagles
- 26:22Speaker 1: postgame podcast shows. Stick with us. We will be back
- 26:26Speaker 1: in a bit. All right. We are back with our
- 26:29Speaker 1: good buddy Josh Schuster from Philadelphia soccernow dot com. If
- 26:33Speaker 1: you're a Philadelphia Union fan, if you're an MLS fan,
- 26:35Speaker 1: head on over to Philadelphia soccernow dot com. They got
- 26:38Speaker 1: great content that they're putting up all the time. Always
- 26:42Speaker 1: a fun read over at Philadelphia soccernow dot com. You
- 26:45Speaker 1: can also follow Josh on the Twitter slash x at
- 26:49Speaker 1: flag Eye Josh ninety one great great follow and my friend,
- 26:52Speaker 1: let's get into these grades Jalen Hurts in the quarterback
- 26:56Speaker 1: position this week, I'm gonna be giving Jalen Hurts a
- 26:59Speaker 1: B minus. The stat sheet absolutely stinks for him. It
- 27:03Speaker 1: is not good. I read it before thirteen to twenty seven,
- 27:06Speaker 1: one hundred and ten yards, four point one yards per attempt,
- 27:08Speaker 1: one touchdown handed with a rating of seventy one point five.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Not great at all. But again, he didn't turn the
- 27:14Speaker 1: ball over, He did not put this Eagles team in
- 27:19Speaker 1: a terrible position. He made good decisions even if they
- 27:23Speaker 1: even even if we were frustrated that the Eagles were
- 27:25Speaker 1: third and eight, third and ten, third and twelve and
- 27:28Speaker 1: they couldn't convert for whatever reason. I'm gonna give him
- 27:31Speaker 1: a B minus this week? What do you give them?
- 27:33Speaker 3: He gets Annus for me a minus? I mean, right,
- 27:35Speaker 3: so to me, I'm going to highlights.
- 27:41Speaker 2: I'm gonna throw Dak Prescott under the bus here, Okay,
- 27:45Speaker 2: that celebrates his three hundred yard games and how many
- 27:48Speaker 2: he has per season. Two weeks ago, the Cowboys season
- 27:53Speaker 2: is on the line. He throws for like three hundred yards,
- 27:56Speaker 2: no touchdowns, no interceptions. It was the biggest nothing burger
- 28:00Speaker 2: of like three hundred yards I've ever seen in my
- 28:02Speaker 2: entire life.
- 28:03Speaker 3: I don't care that Hurts through for one hundred yards today.
- 28:06Speaker 3: And to be.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Fair, a number of the passes literally went right through
- 28:10Speaker 2: the wide receivers or tight end's hands, Like let's be
- 28:13Speaker 2: very very clear, so that like less than fifty percent
- 28:16Speaker 2: completion rating isn't really fair.
- 28:18Speaker 3: And this is where I say stats lie.
- 28:21Speaker 2: If you look at what Hurts did today, I mean
- 28:24Speaker 2: he escapes the pocket, keeps his eyes downfield, and Jeff
- 28:27Speaker 2: I talked about the fact that if you really want
- 28:29Speaker 2: to see the progression of Hurts, go back and watch
- 28:32Speaker 2: his first year starting in the league and watching the
- 28:35Speaker 2: last two of this time I'm on, and the last
- 28:38Speaker 2: time I was on, I forget what game it was.
- 28:40Speaker 3: I talked about the same thing. He rolls out with
- 28:42Speaker 3: his eyes.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Up field to pass, and he throws a bullet a
- 28:47Speaker 2: laser for a first down to AJ Brown where only
- 28:50Speaker 2: AJ Brown can get it. And they get the first down.
- 28:52Speaker 2: He's not tucking and running. He's not you know, he's
- 28:56Speaker 2: making smart decisions with the football. I don't care that
- 28:58Speaker 2: he throws for one hundred yards. Ye doesn't matter to
- 29:00Speaker 2: me because they're impactful yards. It's smart decisions. And he's
- 29:04Speaker 2: not turning the ball.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Over right, And I don't think there was one design
- 29:07Speaker 1: run today for him too. By the way, I will
- 29:09Speaker 1: I will actually give the offensive play calling credit for that,
- 29:12Speaker 1: because you know what, you didn't turn the ball over
- 29:14Speaker 1: on any sort of run, So I will give the
- 29:17Speaker 1: offensive play calling credit for that. So all right, well,
- 29:19Speaker 1: let's move to the running back position here. I mean
- 29:22Speaker 1: Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby, will Shipley eighty two total yards
- 29:28Speaker 1: in terms of the rushes, and that's what Jalen hurts
- 29:30Speaker 1: with only five yards rushing on the day. I'm gonna
- 29:34Speaker 1: give them a B minus as well. You know, there
- 29:36Speaker 1: was only so much they could do with this offensive
- 29:38Speaker 1: line not performing well in terms of the run blocking.
- 29:41Speaker 1: I'm going to give him a B minus. What do
- 29:42Speaker 1: you give them?
- 29:44Speaker 2: I'll give him a B plus for the same reason
- 29:47Speaker 2: that you said, there's only so much you can do
- 29:50Speaker 2: with kind of what's there?
- 29:51Speaker 3: Yeah, and so I give him a B plus.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Okay, let's head over to the receivers. It's interesting how
- 29:57Speaker 1: you mentioned how these receivers they were missing some balls
- 30:00Speaker 1: today and yes, whether it was the elements and the monsoon,
- 30:04Speaker 1: it was just horrendous conditions. Still to a job to
- 30:08Speaker 1: catch the ball. Aj Brown led the receivers seven targets,
- 30:12Speaker 1: came down with five balls for sixty eight yards. He
- 30:15Speaker 1: averaged thirteen point six yards per reception, and DeVante Smith
- 30:18Speaker 1: was targeted five times only came down with two balls
- 30:21Speaker 1: for twenty five yards. Dallas Goddard had the only receiving
- 30:23Speaker 1: touchdown of the day. He was targeted six times only
- 30:27Speaker 1: came down with three balls for eight yards. And you
- 30:29Speaker 1: had Darius Cooper with a catch for four yards, Grant
- 30:32Speaker 1: Calcatara with a catch for three yards, Tank Bigsby with
- 30:35Speaker 1: a one catch for two yards as well. The receivers. Man,
- 30:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna give him. I'm gonna give him a straight
- 30:40Speaker 1: up c this week, Like you said, there were too
- 30:44Speaker 1: many balls that were going through hands, too many balls
- 30:46Speaker 1: that should have been caught. I'm gonna give him a CE.
- 30:49Speaker 1: What do you give him?
- 30:51Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 30:52Speaker 1: Uh, CC plus for me.
- 30:55Speaker 4: I'm gonna give him a B minus because the Elements. Yeah,
- 31:00Speaker 4: and I'll say that by also saying this, the Eagles
- 31:04Speaker 4: need to resign Dallas Goddard.
- 31:07Speaker 3: It's got to be a priority.
- 31:08Speaker 2: I know you're wearing Jalen Carter jersey, but for me,
- 31:12Speaker 2: I'm holding off on Payton. He hasn't been spectacular this year.
- 31:17Speaker 2: When he was out, the Eagles were fine. I think
- 31:19Speaker 2: you have too many players Nakobe Dean that you need
- 31:23Speaker 2: to resign, and Dallas Goddard. They have no tight end
- 31:28Speaker 2: option that can block and catch like he can, and
- 31:32Speaker 2: he he's their red zone target and to let him
- 31:36Speaker 2: walk for nothing, I think would be really really dumb.
- 31:39Speaker 1: All right, Let's move to the offensive line. Boy, again,
- 31:42Speaker 1: they were so tough in terms of run blocking and
- 31:46Speaker 1: pass protection. Man, that pocket ended up collapsing very quickly
- 31:50Speaker 1: in this game. Again, could be the Elements have to
- 31:53Speaker 1: go back and watch the film. But I'm going to
- 31:55Speaker 1: be giving the offensive line this week a C minus. Actually,
- 31:59Speaker 1: what are you going to be given him?
- 32:00Speaker 2: Josh? So generally, when I do my grade, I talk
- 32:05Speaker 2: about the fact how spoiled we are, YadA, YadA, Yes,
- 32:09Speaker 2: my tune is changing this week. Yeah, the defensive or
- 32:15Speaker 2: the offensive line gets a D from me.
- 32:17Speaker 3: Okay, And the only reason why.
- 32:18Speaker 2: It's not an F is because they wound up winning
- 32:21Speaker 2: the game. I know Lane Johnson is out, but he's
- 32:26Speaker 2: been out for a while. They they need to figure
- 32:31Speaker 2: something out because there are players like Jordan may Alatta I.
- 32:36Speaker 3: He doesn't even look like remotely the same player. Yes,
- 32:39Speaker 3: last year.
- 32:39Speaker 2: I don't know what planet he's on or what game
- 32:44Speaker 2: he thinks he's playing. It's bad, and I get the
- 32:48Speaker 2: WYP can't really talk about it because he's on their shows.
- 32:51Speaker 2: What he's he's been bad, I mean not even aver,
- 32:54Speaker 2: he's been bad this year. You shouldn't be equivalent to
- 33:00Speaker 2: a backup offensive tackle and that's basically the level he's
- 33:05Speaker 2: been playing at. Yeah, the offensive line, like Staltlin University,
- 33:09Speaker 2: needs to start going to school because we're running out
- 33:13Speaker 2: of time and this offensive line, it feels like it's
- 33:16Speaker 2: getting worse as the season is going.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Absolutely. Yeah, I'm surprised Cam Jurgens actually made the Pro Bowl, Like,
- 33:22Speaker 1: I honestly.
- 33:23Speaker 3: Couldn't believe it because.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Man, he not only in this game, but we've seen
- 33:27Speaker 1: it in other games too. Man, Cam Jurgens struggles a
- 33:30Speaker 1: lot on rushing plays when Jalen Hurts is actually under center.
- 33:34Speaker 1: In this game, there was one particular play in the
- 33:36Speaker 1: third quarter where Cam Jurgens got absolutely dusted on a
- 33:41Speaker 1: Saquon Barkley rushing play where Barkley ended up losing like
- 33:44Speaker 1: four yards. It was, it was, it was ridiculous. But yeah,
- 33:48Speaker 1: I think it's late in the season to quote figure
- 33:51Speaker 1: out what's going on. But Lane Johnson really is the
- 33:54Speaker 1: glue for this offensive line. When he gets back, my
- 33:57Speaker 1: expectation is we're going to see some sem blints of
- 34:00Speaker 1: some more cohesive offensive line play. That that's my thought.
- 34:04Speaker 1: So let's move over to the defensive side of the
- 34:06Speaker 1: ball here, buddy, defensive line, I mean, I mean they
- 34:09Speaker 1: were making Josh Allen feel uncomfortable. That's what you wanted.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Five sacks on the day, six quarterback hits. There were
- 34:16Speaker 1: seven tackles for loss. My gosh, who I should say?
- 34:22Speaker 1: We usually see Zach Bond at the top of.
- 34:25Speaker 5: The total tackles excuse me as a total tackles on
- 34:30Speaker 5: the on the on the stat sheet here, it's actually
- 34:34Speaker 5: Marcus Epsen to Cooper's gene somehow.
- 34:37Speaker 1: But I think that this defensive line still was so dominant,
- 34:43Speaker 1: constant pressure. Absolutely love what Jalen Phillips did today three
- 34:47Speaker 1: solo tackles, one sack, one tackle for a loss as well,
- 34:52Speaker 1: Moro Jomo. We mentioned Jlex Hunt. I'm gonna give them
- 34:55Speaker 1: an A. What do you give them?
- 34:58Speaker 2: I give them an A and I'm a so you
- 35:00Speaker 2: can give Howie Roseman and a plus here because I
- 35:02Speaker 2: wanted to work this in. Do you remember how upset
- 35:06Speaker 2: everybody was when the Eagles drafted Jaylex Sun?
- 35:09Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 35:09Speaker 3: Just asking, Yeah, because.
- 35:11Speaker 2: If I went on Twitter today, which I did, Man,
- 35:14Speaker 2: it's amazing. He's like everyone's favorite player now. I think
- 35:19Speaker 2: it's safe to say when it comes to offensive lineman
- 35:22Speaker 2: and it comes to defensive lineman, just trust Howie. He's
- 35:26Speaker 2: not perfect with every position, right, but in terms of
- 35:29Speaker 2: those two positions, I don't know that anyone has a
- 35:32Speaker 2: better hit rate with specific positions.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Joe knows the same way. Remember everybody's upset.
- 35:37Speaker 2: They let Knowlton Williams walk like they let all these
- 35:40Speaker 2: players walk.
- 35:41Speaker 3: Guess what the level of production is about the same.
- 35:44Speaker 2: They may not be getting the stat numbers, but you
- 35:46Speaker 2: know what, they're causing a ton of pressure and making
- 35:49Speaker 2: things very uncomfortable, So I kind of want to go back. Actually,
- 35:54Speaker 2: let's use this as a learning experience for moving forward.
- 35:58Speaker 2: When the Eagles make a mid d don't especially if
- 36:02Speaker 2: it's on the offensive and defensive line, just like wait
- 36:05Speaker 2: to see how things unfold, because you could be getting
- 36:08Speaker 2: a very good player like jaylksn yep, if you're just patient.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Yes, absolutely, and developed him too. I mean he's been
- 36:16Speaker 1: developing over these years as well. And that's that's that's
- 36:20Speaker 1: what this defense has done under Vic Fangio here. The
- 36:24Speaker 1: development of this young crew is absolutely amazing. And we
- 36:28Speaker 1: look at the linebacker position, what are grade is going
- 36:30Speaker 1: to be now for this particular unit. And I just
- 36:34Speaker 1: absolutely loved the incredible awareness of where the ball was
- 36:37Speaker 1: when Jihad Campbell recovered that fumble in the first quarter
- 36:41Speaker 1: which led to the eagles first touchdown of the game.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Interesting how they By the way, I just want to
- 36:49Speaker 1: mention this, when the Eagles were essentially going forward on
- 36:52Speaker 1: the goal line and they were looking to get into
- 36:54Speaker 1: the end zone for the first time, they abandoned the
- 36:56Speaker 1: tush push at the goal line. I forgot to mention
- 36:58Speaker 1: that earlier. In terms of the off offensive stuff but
- 37:01Speaker 1: it was right after Jehad Campbell was able to get
- 37:05Speaker 1: that fumble recovery. It was incredible aware and his Zach
- 37:08Speaker 1: Bond playing his tail off in this game, linebackers are
- 37:11Speaker 1: going to get an A for me. What do you
- 37:12Speaker 1: give him?
- 37:14Speaker 3: They get they get an A plus for me.
- 37:17Speaker 2: I've seen people complaining about John Campbell and.
- 37:22Speaker 1: We's got to get out there and play.
- 37:23Speaker 2: I don't I don't understand that every time he is
- 37:27Speaker 2: on the field. If you go back to that fumbel recovery,
- 37:31Speaker 2: he's not even the closest person no that football. But
- 37:35Speaker 2: what he does is he gives everything he has and
- 37:37Speaker 2: he's the one that recovers it. He also has an
- 37:39Speaker 2: incredible pass breakup. Like I don't think people understand that
- 37:43Speaker 2: linebackers should not be able to follow wide receivers slot
- 37:47Speaker 2: wide receivers. Yeah, and have break past breakups.
- 37:51Speaker 3: That's not normal. That's why he's a first round talent.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:54Speaker 2: So, like I get into Kobe Dean is playing out
- 37:57Speaker 2: of his mind. I just said they need to resign him, right.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Vic Fangio needs to find a way. They need to
- 38:02Speaker 2: move out of the five defensive back set to get
- 38:06Speaker 2: three linebackers on the field because John Campbell can cover
- 38:11Speaker 2: the slot wide receiver if they run over the middle
- 38:13Speaker 2: of the field, and personally, I don't want to see
- 38:16Speaker 2: someone that size coming after.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Me running over the middle of the field. They get
- 38:21Speaker 3: an A for me. And same thing.
- 38:23Speaker 2: I saw people saying that Bond is not playing that
- 38:26Speaker 2: well this year.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Get the heck out of here.
- 38:29Speaker 3: I have a really hard time with that.
- 38:31Speaker 2: Yeah, And I struggle with that because I think he's
- 38:34Speaker 2: playing great. I think he's playing exactly what you paid
- 38:38Speaker 2: him for play, and I think he's the captain of
- 38:42Speaker 2: that defense, and with a defense that has lost a
- 38:45Speaker 2: lot of leadership over the years, you need somebody to
- 38:48Speaker 2: do that, and he seems to have stepped into that role.
- 38:50Speaker 3: They get an A plus for me.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Absolutely. All right, let's move on to the secondary before
- 38:55Speaker 1: we get into our coaching. Secondary this week was just
- 38:58Speaker 1: absolutely everywhere as well. Yes, they gave up some larger
- 39:03Speaker 1: pass plays here and there. There was the Brandon Cooks
- 39:07Speaker 1: fifty yarder that was given up. Tyrrell Shavers had a
- 39:11Speaker 1: thirty two yarder as well that we know, But still,
- 39:14Speaker 1: at the end of the day, this secondary really did
- 39:16Speaker 1: play a lot of lights out. Yes, Josh Allen had
- 39:19Speaker 1: two hundred and sixty two yards on thirty five pass attempts.
- 39:22Speaker 1: He completed twenty three of them, an average seven point
- 39:25Speaker 1: five yards per attempt. But really, I mean they I
- 39:30Speaker 1: thought the secondary played so well for being such a
- 39:33Speaker 1: young crew, and they continue to do it like week
- 39:35Speaker 1: after week, whether it's Quinnon, Mitchell, Cooper, Dejen. Dorri Jackson
- 39:39Speaker 1: did give up some yards today, but he wasn't an
- 39:42Speaker 1: Achilles heel of this secondary. Marcus EP's playing well read
- 39:46Speaker 1: blanket ship too. I'm gonna give him an a What
- 39:49Speaker 1: do you give the secondary?
- 39:50Speaker 2: They get a name from me and to talk about
- 39:53Speaker 2: a Dorri Jackson like this is where I'm gonna push
- 39:55Speaker 2: back on you a little bit.
- 39:56Speaker 3: Okay, Dorri Jackson's been good. I think vic Fango has
- 40:00Speaker 3: figured out how to use him and in what way
- 40:01Speaker 3: to use him.
- 40:02Speaker 2: And Dori Jackson has been good, has been since like
- 40:06Speaker 2: week six on. He has been good. So I would
- 40:11Speaker 2: be okay if the Eagles brought him back. I think
- 40:13Speaker 2: that he fits well on the other side of Mitchell.
- 40:17Speaker 2: And I'm also going to bring up officiating here because
- 40:20Speaker 2: you want about this, you want to complain about the
- 40:25Speaker 2: officiating and this is what I'll say. That wasn't past
- 40:28Speaker 2: interference on Mitchell. But I don't want to hear about officiating.
- 40:32Speaker 2: To me, the weakest thing for a fan to do
- 40:36Speaker 2: is to complain about officiating, because you know what, even
- 40:39Speaker 2: on the questionable calls, the Buffalo Bill's got goose egg
- 40:43Speaker 2: of points and the Eagles still won the game. So
- 40:47Speaker 2: it's almost like, yes, there's bad officiating, and you know what,
- 40:50Speaker 2: they miss calls the benefit of the Bills as well.
- 40:53Speaker 2: Guess what, that's what happens. I say it pretty much
- 40:56Speaker 2: every time I'm on here. I don't want to hear
- 40:58Speaker 2: about officiating. I think it's cop out. I hate it.
- 41:01Speaker 2: I can't stand it. Your team needs to play. Unless
- 41:04Speaker 2: your team has played a absolutely perfect game, don't start
- 41:08Speaker 2: with the refereeing because it's it's every team, every fan.
- 41:14Speaker 2: Everyone thinks the refs are against them. I got news
- 41:16Speaker 2: for you. There's Bills fans that are saying today the
- 41:20Speaker 2: also the game. No, your quarterback cost you the game.
- 41:23Speaker 2: That's why you lost the game. It's like, anyway, I'm
- 41:26Speaker 2: gonna get off my tangent here. That was not past
- 41:29Speaker 2: interference on Mitchell, but the refs had Eagles.
- 41:33Speaker 3: Won the game.
- 41:34Speaker 2: Well maybe the Bills lost the game, but anyway, either way,
- 41:37Speaker 2: it was one of the two teams that decided.
- 41:39Speaker 3: Not the officiating.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Yeah, well, let's get into some special teams here because
- 41:44Speaker 1: I know we can go back and forth on that,
- 41:46Speaker 1: because I just want to see consistency with officiating at
- 41:50Speaker 1: the end.
- 41:50Speaker 3: It's never going to happen. I know it's not. It
- 41:52Speaker 3: will never happened.
- 41:53Speaker 1: A boy can dream, So as we go.
- 41:56Speaker 3: Is that all you want for Christmas?
- 41:58Speaker 1: Check? That's it that I didn't get it this year. Yeah,
- 42:00Speaker 1: I gotta wait till twenty twenty six Christmas. All right,
- 42:03Speaker 1: Special teams and coaching. The fact again that we talked
- 42:07Speaker 1: about before the break, Fred Johnson ran onto the field
- 42:09Speaker 1: without helmet, had to hurry off and then went back
- 42:12Speaker 1: is absolutely incredible. And then we have Jake Elliott. He
- 42:16Speaker 1: made a forty seven yarder in this game. In the
- 42:18Speaker 1: second quarter. We also had on a punt a punt return.
- 42:24Speaker 1: We had Cameron Latu completely screwed up an amazing, an
- 42:29Speaker 1: amazing Braden Man punt that actually landed at the one
- 42:32Speaker 1: yard line. Folks. LA two didn't need to try to
- 42:36Speaker 1: down it like he did because the ball was already
- 42:38Speaker 1: not moving at that point. Then he touches the ball
- 42:42Speaker 1: and just slightly steps on the goal line freaking what
- 42:46Speaker 1: a freaking dope and the ball comes out to the twenty.
- 42:49Speaker 1: So that's gonna that's gonna inh gonna decrease the grade
- 42:54Speaker 1: that I'm going to be giving as well. Then you
- 42:56Speaker 1: got Jalen Carter blocking an extra point towards the end
- 42:59Speaker 1: of the game with just over five minutes left. I
- 43:01Speaker 1: think it's a second point after or field goal block
- 43:06Speaker 1: on the season. He had one earlier this season as well.
- 43:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna give special teams this week a straight up
- 43:12Speaker 1: B and a lot of that. It would have been
- 43:14Speaker 1: an A. It would have been an A. But Cameron
- 43:15Speaker 1: Law too in a stupid freaking punt situation, brought it
- 43:19Speaker 1: down a grade for me. What do you give special teams?
- 43:21Speaker 1: I give him a B.
- 43:23Speaker 2: So two separate grades because we don't do special team coordinators. Yes,
- 43:29Speaker 2: so special teams coordinator. As long as you keep putting
- 43:33Speaker 2: will Shipley out there and trying to make Willshipley a thing, you're.
- 43:36Speaker 3: Getting an F for me. I'm gonna quote.
- 43:38Speaker 2: Mean girls here, stop trying to make fetch happen stop
- 43:41Speaker 2: trying to make will Shipley happen. It's not working right,
- 43:44Speaker 2: stop it, just stop it so you you get an
- 43:47Speaker 2: S the rest of the special teams. I'm actually going
- 43:50Speaker 2: to give an A because for me, even though there
- 43:52Speaker 2: was that one really dumb play, Breton Man.
- 43:55Speaker 3: Maybe the MVP of this game.
- 43:57Speaker 2: It might yes, I mean really if he had a
- 44:00Speaker 2: really last time.
- 44:00Speaker 3: I was on, he had a lousy game.
- 44:02Speaker 2: Yes, the Eagles do not win today if he is
- 44:07Speaker 2: not punting as well as he's punting right, and so
- 44:10Speaker 2: he may be my MVP of the game because he
- 44:13Speaker 2: flipped the field a number of times today.
- 44:15Speaker 1: Yep.
- 44:15Speaker 2: All right.
- 44:16Speaker 1: Well, as we move on to the defense, Vic Fangio's getting.
- 44:20Speaker 3: A Jake Elliott.
- 44:21Speaker 2: I'm sorry, j j Elliott made everything today. Looks like
- 44:24Speaker 2: he's got his head on straight. Great, fantastic.
- 44:27Speaker 1: I hope, let's hope if it happens, let's hope that
- 44:30Speaker 1: still happens in the playoffs with him. Oh God, from
- 44:33Speaker 1: my lips to God's ears. So in terms of the defense,
- 44:37Speaker 1: Vic Fangio is getting an A plus from me. I
- 44:39Speaker 1: mean it's it seems to be a consistent A plus
- 44:41Speaker 1: because the guy's one of the best defensive coaches in
- 44:43Speaker 1: the league always putting these guys in a really good
- 44:46Speaker 1: position A plus for me, what do you give.
- 44:47Speaker 2: Them a plus? And I'm thankful that he's older. And
- 44:51Speaker 2: then he's talked about the fact that he doesn't want
- 44:52Speaker 2: to leave Philadelphia, so he's probably not going to get
- 44:55Speaker 2: any calls this coach and go around like I can
- 44:58Speaker 2: see Vic being here for another five seven years.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Yes, he he just.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Loves it here. And he's just every week he gets
- 45:05Speaker 2: a NYE. I mean, it's just he changes schemes every week,
- 45:10Speaker 2: like it's unbelievable. Anyway, maybe KP should take some notes
- 45:14Speaker 2: on what it's like to do different things.
- 45:16Speaker 1: Absolutely, it would be nice. Yeah, it'd be great. And
- 45:19Speaker 1: as we grade the offensive coaching, Nick Sirianni and Kevin Petulo,
- 45:22Speaker 1: I'm gonna be giving them a D this week. And
- 45:25Speaker 1: really it's because of the second half they did. They
- 45:28Speaker 1: did not do this team any favors in the second half. Yes,
- 45:32Speaker 1: it was a tale of two halves. And in fact,
- 45:34Speaker 1: you and I were texting with each other the fact
- 45:37Speaker 1: that for what s like, for what seemed to be
- 45:39Speaker 1: an entire season, where always kicking Kevin Petolo's ass on
- 45:42Speaker 1: a weekly basis. Rightfully so, but man, his play calling
- 45:46Speaker 1: given the weather conditions in the first half was very effective.
- 45:50Speaker 1: And then they completely go conservative like we talked about
- 45:52Speaker 1: before the break, and it put this team and the
- 45:55Speaker 1: pressure on this defense to do what it did. I'm
- 45:58Speaker 1: actually gonna give them a D this week because I
- 45:59Speaker 1: am hired of this stuff. Saw it in the Dallas game,
- 46:02Speaker 1: saw it in the Denver game as well, the same crap.
- 46:05Speaker 1: That's not how you're going to win in the playoffs
- 46:07Speaker 1: against some formidable teams. I'm giving them a D. What
- 46:09Speaker 1: do you give them?
- 46:12Speaker 2: I'm going to give him a D with an asterisk. Okay,
- 46:16Speaker 2: the asterisk being that you and I are not allowed
- 46:18Speaker 2: to praise Kevin Patullo anymore because I think we are
- 46:23Speaker 2: the reason why everything changed in the second half because
- 46:26Speaker 2: we gave him ami so much at the end of
- 46:30Speaker 2: the first half.
- 46:32Speaker 3: So it's a D with an asterisk with it being
- 46:35Speaker 3: our fault.
- 46:36Speaker 1: All right, All right, Well, that was a great postgame show.
- 46:39Speaker 1: It really was. I love your Kelly Green Jason Kelsey jersey.
- 46:43Speaker 1: I've got my brand new Jalen Carter jersey that I
- 46:46Speaker 1: got for Christmas. My wife was very nice and got
- 46:49Speaker 1: this for me. We've got our you're watching on YouTube,
- 46:51Speaker 1: We've got our Kelly Green uh A design here, and
- 46:55Speaker 1: it's fabulous. This Philadelphia Eagles team is elevel and five.
- 47:01Speaker 1: My goodness, the way this team has played up and
- 47:03Speaker 1: down all season, it really is amazing Josh eleven and
- 47:07Speaker 1: five and yeah, crazy they can still actually get the
- 47:11Speaker 1: number two seed possibly. I mean yeah, they made to
- 47:14Speaker 1: win next week against the Washington Commanders and the Bears
- 47:17Speaker 1: need to lose these next two games, so and they
- 47:19Speaker 1: could get the number two seed. Amazing. So that's it, buddy,
- 47:23Speaker 1: Do you have anything else before I let you go here?
- 47:26Speaker 2: Now, one of these weeks, I'll rock my black alshon
- 47:29Speaker 2: Jeffrey the only person that still wears an alshon Jeffrey Jersey,
- 47:34Speaker 2: and I've talked openly about my love of South Carolina.
- 47:37Speaker 3: He's one of my all time favorite players.
- 47:39Speaker 2: He should be, so anyway, one of these days I'll
- 47:43Speaker 2: rock it, because I if I'm doing postgame, I normally
- 47:46Speaker 2: don't because I don't want to see comments. Chersey, Well,
- 47:50Speaker 2: clearly it's your first time listening because I openly talk
- 47:53Speaker 2: about my love of South Carolina football.
- 47:55Speaker 1: So and by the way, if there is anybody that
- 47:58Speaker 1: caught through or ran for a touchdown in the eagles
- 48:02Speaker 1: first Super Bowl win. Ever, I don't care. You can
- 48:05Speaker 1: wear that jersey. You could wear a Corey Clement jersey.
- 48:08Speaker 1: I don't care. You can wear a Corey Clement jersey
- 48:10Speaker 1: all you want because he caught a touchdown pass in
- 48:14Speaker 1: that first Eagles Super Bowl victory. Hey, I don't care
- 48:18Speaker 1: who it is, so aushon Jeffrey Catching catching a touchdown
- 48:22Speaker 1: in that game. You can wear it. It's perfectly valid
- 48:24Speaker 1: and it should be it absolutely should wear it next time.
- 48:28Speaker 3: My friend, there you go, all right, I'll wear it
- 48:30Speaker 3: next time. I'll wear it next time.
- 48:31Speaker 1: All right. Folks, leave us a comment. Let us know
- 48:33Speaker 1: what you thought of this Eagles Bill's game. We'd love
- 48:36Speaker 1: to hear from you. If you're watching on YouTube, leave
- 48:39Speaker 1: a comment below about our themes. Do you agree with us?
- 48:42Speaker 1: Do you not agree with us? It's gonna do it
- 48:45Speaker 1: for us, folks. That is going to do it here.
- 48:47Speaker 1: As week seventeen is in the books for this Philadelphia
- 48:49Speaker 1: Eagles twenty twenty five twenty twenty six season, they feed
- 48:53Speaker 1: the Buffalo Bill's up in Buffalo by a score of
- 48:55Speaker 1: thirteen to twelve, it's gonna do it for us. Take
- 48:59Speaker 1: care well stick
