- 0:09revenue in your business, TuneIn to amplify your marketing
- 0:13message with Christine Campbell Rappin.
- 0:15Every week we're going to take you through how to build an
- 0:17audience of buyers, mastering your marketing message and
- 0:20making offers. Welcome back, my friends.
- 0:24I am here to broadcast loudly this week that momentum isn't
- 0:29magic. It isn't a mystery.
- 0:34It is management. And I'm gonna show you exactly
- 0:38what to manage to build that momentum in your business.
- 0:42Welcome to amplify your marketing message.
- 0:44I am your host, Christine Campbell Rappin, and I believe
- 0:48that one step taken consistently at the speed at which you choose
- 0:54is the key to momentum. But direction plays a big role.
- 0:59Management is the key to it all. Because here's the thing I'm
- 1:04seeing. You're hoping that momentum will
- 1:09occur, you're dreaming of it, but you're not doing the things
- 1:16that matter. Business development is not a
- 1:20task on your To Do List. Running your business with A to
- 1:24do list mentality is keeping you broke out of momentum and
- 1:30struggling more than you need to.
- 1:33And staying there my friends is a choice now when I invite you
- 1:38to make want to invite you to change.
- 1:42Business development is a non negotiable and it is the most
- 1:46important big rock in your business every single day in the
- 1:51life of your business. And I watched too many people
- 1:55say that that's a Sunday activity.
- 1:57They get distracted in the noise, and yet I will tell you
- 2:02the distraction of the noise costs you and creates the roller
- 2:06coaster you're on. Successful salespeople are not
- 2:14built on magic. Those that have consistently
- 2:19successful careers in sales come down to those that know how to
- 2:23run a pipeline and recognize that relationships and
- 2:28management of the conversation with relationships with other
- 2:33people is a strategic asset that we manage actively.
- 2:38And so I want you to have a business that rewards you like a
- 2:42business, consistent income, knowing your bills and then some
- 2:48are paid where you write your own paycheck.
- 2:52But to do that, you need to run your business like a CEO who
- 2:57leads a sales org, because sales is not negotiable.
- 3:02And it doesn't have to be hard. Trust me, it really doesn't.
- 3:10Just takes a system that has intentional movement that we
- 3:16stay disciplined to create momentum around.
- 3:19So I'm gonna give you a couple key tips today on how I do this.
- 3:23This is me running my business. This is also me running other
- 3:27people's businesses. And it's how collectively we've
- 3:30been able to double our business every year we've been in
- 3:33business. And I've helped other business
- 3:36owners, more than 400 of them create a billion dollars in
- 3:39revenue. That's B with a billion behind
- 3:41it. Badass, right?
- 3:45It comes down to the following. First things first is you must
- 3:48know your numbers. You cannot build momentum
- 3:52without measurement. And I will tell you this, I
- 3:56think the number one reason businesses struggle is because
- 4:01they're afraid to measure. And sometimes people use the
- 4:05word accountability. And she's gonna think, if you
- 4:07want to take a language, lesson me with me for a sidebar moment.
- 4:10Accountability is the Latin word for measure.
- 4:15So measurement isn't judgment. So stop the judgment.
- 4:19What is is A CEO knows what is is.
- 4:23Results on the bottom line is the only thing that matters.
- 4:26If you want to be rewarded like CEO, act like 1 and measure your
- 4:31numbers. Second piece of the puzzle is
- 4:34that movement is the key to building momentum, which means
- 4:37that you have to move every opportunity forward.
- 4:42That means you should have a discipline.
- 4:44I think every day and every week and every month around the
- 4:47things you track that says are we on course or do we need a
- 4:52course correction and do we have the right seats at the table.
- 4:56I have implemented Salesforce that CRM specifically twice in
- 5:01organizations when I was employed corporately.
- 5:04And here's the philosophy that we built our day-to-day round.
- 5:10If it's not in the CRM, you could be using a spreadsheet or
- 5:14something as complicated as sales force.
- 5:16You do you whatever you need, but don't out scope the CRM.
- 5:20This best CRM that exists on the planet is the one you will use.
- 5:25But here's what we used to say and I say it to myself every
- 5:28single day. If it's not in the CRM, it
- 5:32doesn't exist. If it's in the CRM, it must be
- 5:36actively managed. We must determine the different
- 5:43categories and the proximity to one business and manage
- 5:49accordingly our day-to-day priorities.
- 5:53And if you are not doing this tracking, moving and monitoring,
- 6:01you are hoping and waiting for a miracle.
- 6:05Stability does not get created in magic, it gets created in
- 6:10intentional leadership. And I will tell you this,
- 6:15running CRM is not the glory part of your business.
- 6:20I used to say to my team, it's a non negotiable if you do not run
- 6:23your CRM, if you do not track the day you spent, if I do not
- 6:27have visibility to a grenade that's being loved at me, you
- 6:30will not stay in my team. And I take that same attitude to
- 6:35my Business Today. And that's why my business is on
- 6:40this massive growth trajectory. I want stability and I'm willing
- 6:45to play with the CRM mentality. And if it's not in there, it
- 6:49doesn't exist. If it's up to me and it's in
- 6:51there, I must move it. And I must monitor and track the
- 6:54closest path, the cash, and be sure my day is run by the big
- 7:01rocks and move us towards income and not get lost in the
- 7:06distractions. And as a result, that's where
- 7:09the sexiness comes. That's where the choice comes
- 7:12from. That's where the freedom of
- 7:13writing your own paycheck comes from.
- 7:17So I invite you to know your numbers and to commit to the
- 7:21discipline of running your business like a business so it
- 7:23will reward you as such. And that means you have to
- 7:28commit here, right now, in your own mind.
- 7:31Commit to stop relying on hope and instead really understand
- 7:36how to create demand. And demand is the name of the
- 7:39game. And this is an economics lesson.
- 7:45So sit down, buttercup. Buckle up.
- 7:48We're going to take you to my first year of university when I
- 7:51understood and started the journey with economics.
- 7:54And yeah, I guess that's guess what, guys?
- 7:55In case you didn't know, I didn't just decide to be a
- 7:58business mentor. I equipped myself with business
- 8:00skills and I've used them for 25 years, which is why people hire
- 8:04us. I understand economics, both
- 8:06macro and micro. I can write your PNL.
- 8:09I can write your books. I don't want to, but I do
- 8:11understand it. And that enables me to help.
- 8:14Correct guide and create really predictable results with
- 8:18clients, but demand is the name of the game you are looking for.
- 8:23Is there activity movement in the marketplace?
- 8:29Do people know they have a problem?
- 8:30Are they prepared to invest? What are they investing in?
- 8:33How do I compare? And instead, if you don't think
- 8:39about demand, you're relying on a hope strategy.
- 8:44And I think sometimes that's the big gap.
- 8:47I think a lot of people think that the business world is
- 8:49really just what I have this great idea, I'm going to go to
- 8:51the marketplace and it's going to fly.
- 8:53And I will tell you that's the fastest path to crickets.
- 8:57It's not about what you want to supply.
- 9:00Truly, you put the cart before the horse is what does the
- 9:03market demand and can I serve it.
- 9:07And you must build this skill of creating demand, which means you
- 9:11must understand how to build leads, how to build interest,
- 9:16how to build movement with those who have a known problem they
- 9:20want solved. And you can supply guidance, A
- 9:24framework and a predictable outcome.
- 9:29So stop relying on hope. I want you to audit right now.
- 9:33Think back over the last 30 days in your business, the people
- 9:37you've talked to, what is their intent to buy and what does that
- 9:44horizon look like? I see so many clients stuck in
- 9:50one to one meetings that go nowhere because they're talking
- 9:53to people with low intent to solve the problem.
- 9:57And every week when we're working with our clients,
- 9:59whether we're in our momentum to Millions program, whether we're
- 10:02in the Momentum Builder program, note that everything starts with
- 10:05momentum. We are asking the question, how
- 10:09many people are on your pipeline?
- 10:11What stage are they at and what is their intent to purchase
- 10:16when? And we use this philosophy of
- 10:19three lanes of traffic. You may have heard this, there
- 10:21are podcast episodes specifically around this in this
- 10:25show. So go search for them.
- 10:27But we talk about the slow middle and fast lane, and that
- 10:30comes down to the speed at which they want to make a decision and
- 10:34start creating the results. If you have everybody in the
- 10:38slow lane, you're talking to someday Buyers.
- 10:41Well, my friends, a whole calendar of low intent someday
- 10:45buyers will keep you broke because there's no movement in
- 10:49the US. It's too far away.
- 10:52And yet we do want low intent buyers in our ecosystem because
- 10:57we constantly know that a low intent buyer, if something
- 11:00happens, there's a moment, an impact, a trigger, they could
- 11:03immediately become a buyer tomorrow.
- 11:05And I want to stay top of mind with them.
- 11:08But watch how you get caught in the someday Dream Hope strategy.
- 11:14The 2nd lane is the middle lane, and this is somebody who's in
- 11:17the current problem right now. We always like repeating
- 11:21problems. They create stability and
- 11:23consistent income and it gives us the ability to serve a client
- 11:27repeatedly, which is awesome for our relationships.
- 11:30Our long term value of a client and the wind and trust is
- 11:34faster. But you're looking for the
- 11:37pattern of today, which means I have to solve this in the next
- 11:4030 to 60 days cause they have two choices, keep the problem
- 11:48and white knuckle my way through till the pattern repeats or I
- 11:52could solve it today. And your job is to not hope they
- 11:56do that, it's to invite them to consider changing directions.
- 12:00The decision ultimately is theirs, but our movement towards
- 12:04that spin is the day-to-day big rock priority.
- 12:09Fast Lane is somebody who has already made the decision to
- 12:12solve this, already decided and they are hoping that you will
- 12:18lead them to is today the day they want to solve it within the
- 12:21next 30 days, ideally maybe even today, maybe even this week.
- 12:26And our job is to stay in communication and ask all the
- 12:32time. It's today the day and be ready
- 12:37to receive the yes, but I want you to audit your last 30 days.
- 12:43What is your pipeline look like? When I work with my clients, I
- 12:46said in our programs, I said bring up your dashboard every
- 12:50month. We do this every single month.
- 12:51Bring up your dashboard. How many people are in the fast
- 12:53lane? How many people are in the
- 12:55middle lane? How many people are in the slow
- 12:57lane? And how has this ecosystem
- 12:59changed? How have you moved this pipeline
- 13:02forward? And that is both in terms of
- 13:06decisions and in speed. And yes, sometimes people will
- 13:11go from slow lane to fast lane. Sometimes they also go the other
- 13:14way but movement is the key cause guys I told you movement
- 13:18is management and momentum is built on the movement not magic.
- 13:22So you want to recognize how are you playing the game and if
- 13:29you're getting. Conceptually I get this, but I'm
- 13:32a little lost. You're lost because you don't
- 13:35live it currently, so don't expect yourself to suddenly
- 13:39build skills like a Unicorn. I want to help you build the
- 13:44skills by showing you, teaching you, mentoring you, and
- 13:48supporting you. And if you're curious about
- 13:50that, go to christinecampbellrappin.com and
- 13:53let's have a conversation. Because momentum is the name of
- 13:57the game. You can adjust your speed, but
- 14:00managing the pipeline and building it and stacking it so
- 14:03that you have enough people to always be in the middle of fast
- 14:07lane is a system. And I want to share with you the
- 14:12fast track to that system right now.
- 14:14So momentum comes from activity. OK, I said you can choose your
- 14:20speed, but getting off 0 is not negotiable in my world.
- 14:24And So what are we gonna do with that?
- 14:26I think the right rooms, the right stages, the right
- 14:30authority driven content, making direct invitations and nurturing
- 14:35relationships. Or how we win.
- 14:38Note I didn't say super complicated tack.
- 14:41Note I didn't say you had to have paid ads.
- 14:45Note, I didn't say you had to have bucket loads of money.
- 14:50I know that there are the numbers game.
- 14:53I started with that, but I never lose sight that people can move
- 14:57in one conversation. So I must stack momentum by
- 15:03knowing really clear who I am, what I serve, and I get active
- 15:06in the right rooms, right stages, right communities, right
- 15:09relationships, right asks and the right content that is both
- 15:14owned authority and borrowed authority.
- 15:19What makes us awesome? We have a track record.
- 15:25I've created a billion dollars of people.
- 15:27I know how to manage a pipeline. In fact, interestingly enough, I
- 15:32will tell you I have been both loved and hated by CEO's when
- 15:37I've been at the table because I am really disciplined by the
- 15:42pipeline and that meant I was the top performing salesperson
- 15:46in most orgs I work with. I won awards, I've been the top
- 15:50performer and here's the kicker, why they hate me.
- 15:53I've also been the only woman who's done it.
- 15:55I work mostly in my career in male dominated industries.
- 15:59I did not win business with my bar tab.
- 16:02I wind it. With the relationships, I wind
- 16:04it wind it seriously. Christina can't even speak.
- 16:07I wanted with relationships. I want it with the discipline of
- 16:12listening and managing A pipeline.
- 16:14And this is a skill that can be acquired.
- 16:19It gives you the freedom like my clients who say I had the most
- 16:23amazing thing. I got a phone call from my
- 16:25friend and client Dan. Dan said to me, I had the
- 16:29wildest thing happen. And we've been working right now
- 16:32with Dan on creating a dashboard, working the
- 16:36dashboard. He said I don't know why this
- 16:38works. I just have evidence it does.
- 16:41Because if I'm in activity, it isn't always that that direct
- 16:46opportunity wins. Something else moves because our
- 16:51natural state be in motion. And he called me the other day.
- 16:54He said I want my biggest client ever, a retained client, $4000 a
- 17:00month. And I said, tell me the journey
- 17:03that you got there. And he said I went from first
- 17:06contact to one client in less than a week.
- 17:10It's the fastest I've ever done it it my head is still
- 17:13truthfully spinning. I'm struggling a bit with
- 17:15impostor syndrome, but I got how the system creates my stability.
- 17:22I knew what to say, when to say it, how to lead them, and I was
- 17:26prepared to receive the result. And I was so freaking excited
- 17:30for him because he created it. He created it with tools.
- 17:35We we talked, but he's using the tools effectively and that's the
- 17:40name of the game because you have to move the pipeline.
- 17:47It's momentum and this is the invitation I want you to take
- 17:52today. Great sales are structured.
- 18:00Great systems scale your business and you cannot live in
- 18:05a hope strategy. There is a formula.
- 18:08We teach it every single day. The question for you is will you
- 18:12take this invitation? Because can you do it on your
- 18:15own 100% if you don't have the skill set, don't make the easy
- 18:18stuff hard. Come and have a conversation
- 18:20with us. Business development is non
- 18:25negotiable. It should be your number one
- 18:27priority cause sales is the lifeblood of your business.
- 18:30Sales solves almost every problem in your business because
- 18:34it creates cash. And I will tell you this, if you
- 18:42don't prioritize it, it won't happen.
- 18:45But I guarantee you this somebody today is ready to buy,
- 18:48work your system through the work.
- 18:51And if you need a mentor to remind you, invite you,
