Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Where is my husband? That is Ray one of our
- 0:02Speaker 1: favorites one or two point seven. It's kiss FM, another
- 0:05Speaker 1: one of our favorites. I feel like I've met him
- 0:07Speaker 1: a long time ago. Now the kid Leroy is here
- 0:10Speaker 1: with it's in the studio.
- 0:13Speaker 2: What's going on?
- 0:13Speaker 3: What's going on?
- 0:15Speaker 1: Good to see you and congratulations on a new album, new.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Music, Thank you very much, yeah, brand new crazy.
- 0:22Speaker 1: For first of all, I just like want to know
- 0:24Speaker 1: what when people realize it's you, like they recognize you,
- 0:29Speaker 1: and because I mean, you don't, I don't. Do you
- 0:31Speaker 1: make a dinner reservation under the kid Leroy or do
- 0:33Speaker 1: you make it no?
- 0:34Speaker 2: No, no, no, I usually I usually.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Make it under a different name, under different in Yeah.
- 0:39Speaker 1: But when people realize it's you out in the wild
- 0:41Speaker 1: or at like in and out or something, what do
- 0:43Speaker 1: they most often say to you?
- 0:45Speaker 2: The most common thing is, damn, you're so much toller
- 0:48Speaker 2: than I thought.
- 0:50Speaker 3: That's so true.
- 0:52Speaker 2: I'm six foot okay, but like nobody believes that. I
- 0:54Speaker 2: say it all the time, but I think people just
- 0:56Speaker 2: don't believe it because I don't know. Apparently I look
- 0:58Speaker 2: short on the internet or something. I'm not sure it's this.
- 1:02Speaker 3: It's no No, they lie. They lie.
- 1:04Speaker 1: They've got me at five seven on wikiped or something,
- 1:07Speaker 1: trying to change this for years. They lie.
- 1:10Speaker 2: That's hilarious.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Do you spend a lot of time Do you live
- 1:13Speaker 1: here in LA? Do you spend yeah, much of your
- 1:15Speaker 1: time here?
- 1:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I live here in Los Angeles, but I'm traveling
- 1:17Speaker 2: all the time, so sometimes I feel like I don't
- 1:19Speaker 2: even live here anymore. You know, I'm like, I kind
- 1:21Speaker 2: of nowhere out of.
- 1:23Speaker 1: A suitcase, right right, literally, all right, So I read
- 1:27Speaker 1: all about the story behind the scenes of your new music,
- 1:30Speaker 1: which we're gonna get to.
- 1:31Speaker 3: We're gonna play in just a little bit.
- 1:33Speaker 1: But congratulations, thank you working hard at this. Yeah, and
- 1:39Speaker 1: as I understand it, you you've made a big move
- 1:43Speaker 1: after you'd already made some music to start over again.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Yes, that's correct. I scrapped my whole album apart from
- 1:51Speaker 2: one song, this one song that made it on this project,
- 1:53Speaker 2: but everything else was scrap brand new.
- 1:57Speaker 1: What runs through your body and blood to have worked
- 1:59Speaker 1: on art and music and you know, stuff that I'm
- 2:02Speaker 1: sure it's good and then just like rip it up.
- 2:05Speaker 2: I think there was I think for me, well, I mean,
- 2:06Speaker 2: you know, I was just going through a lot of
- 2:08Speaker 2: life stuff, and I was just making a bunch of
- 2:12Speaker 2: music around that time, and then I was listening to
- 2:15Speaker 2: that music and I was like, this music is so
- 2:17Speaker 2: much better than my album. And I was just kind
- 2:21Speaker 2: of like, damn, this is like this feels more natural
- 2:26Speaker 2: for me. It feels more like me. There was something
- 2:28Speaker 2: about the last album that I scrapped that I was like, Damn.
- 2:31Speaker 2: I was like, these these are technically good songs, and
- 2:34Speaker 2: I think I like them, but like there's something that's
- 2:36Speaker 2: just not connecting in the same way as like the
- 2:39Speaker 2: Lost projects have for me. And and it was just
- 2:43Speaker 2: kind of one of those moments. I started making a
- 2:44Speaker 2: bunch of these new songs and then it all just
- 2:46Speaker 2: clicked and I was like, Okay, this feels like it
- 2:47Speaker 2: has like something about me. And it was the other
- 2:51Speaker 2: ones I felt like it could have. I don't know,
- 2:53Speaker 2: a couple of different people could have made those songs
- 2:55Speaker 2: or something. I don't know.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Did you have to dig deeper into stuff that you
- 3:00Speaker 1: almost felt nervous about vulnerably revealing and talking about in
- 3:05Speaker 1: the lyrics and the songs.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Is that where you had to go?
- 3:06Speaker 2: Yeah? I mean, but it's funny because it came so
- 3:09Speaker 2: naturally that I think like I didn't really have to
- 3:12Speaker 2: I didn't really have to try to do anything. And
- 3:15Speaker 2: I think that's why I decided to scrap the album
- 3:17Speaker 2: was because it just felt so natural. Everything was coming
- 3:20Speaker 2: so like normal and natural that I was like, damn,
- 3:24Speaker 2: this is just obviously flowing out of me in a
- 3:27Speaker 2: way where maybe this is the better thing, and it
- 3:32Speaker 2: is definitely was so good. Thank you, thank you very much.
- 3:37Speaker 1: You're gonna hear this to keep the way with this.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Now we're going to play a track in a second.
- 3:40Speaker 1: But at this center of a lot of this is
- 3:43Speaker 1: is a little bit of pain in the heart.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Right sure, I guess I think so.
- 3:49Speaker 1: I mean, heartbreak is something that is so universally common,
- 3:52Speaker 1: but I would imagine difficult to have to dive into
- 3:56Speaker 1: and relive.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know that's why music's so cool, man,
- 3:59Speaker 2: because it's like you can like really like I don't know,
- 4:03Speaker 2: for me, that's like the easiest way I suck it, like,
- 4:06Speaker 2: you know, talking out loud about stuff, especially like yeah,
- 4:10Speaker 2: you know, communication it's easier, like yeah, write your thoughts down.
- 4:13Speaker 3: I think so.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Yeah, It's just like and music it's like one of
- 4:16Speaker 2: those things too. Like lyrically you can, you know, say
- 4:18Speaker 2: what you want to say, but even just sonically, you
- 4:20Speaker 2: get to like create a feeling, and I think that's
- 4:22Speaker 2: like the most powerful thing.
- 4:24Speaker 1: The kid Leroy the new album Before I Forget it's
- 4:27Speaker 1: out now. He's saying in some places that I read
- 4:31Speaker 1: the stuff. It's his most personal thing he's ever made.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Is that accurate?
- 4:38Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely, We're gonna get very personal with this song
- 4:41Speaker 1: coming up next here at one of two point seven
- 4:43Speaker 1: Kiss FM a cold play, the kid Leroy got the
- 4:46Speaker 1: track on the way also have some free money to
- 4:48Speaker 1: pay your bills. It's kiss on Thomas and Chris Brown.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Now the kid Larroy is here. Would you like for
- 4:54Speaker 1: us to stare at you while we listen to this track?
- 4:56Speaker 1: How do you feel about it when we're all in
- 4:57Speaker 1: the same room together? Because I never know what to do?
- 5:00Speaker 2: Uh? You know what's funny is like I was just
- 5:02Speaker 2: saying this the other day, I'm like, I kind of
- 5:04Speaker 2: my nightmare is like playing my music in front of
- 5:06Speaker 2: a room full of people.
- 5:08Speaker 3: You want to hear? Do you want to go outside
- 5:12Speaker 3: the door?
- 5:13Speaker 1: Because here we go, Here we go, all right, take
- 5:16Speaker 1: a listen.
- 5:17Speaker 3: We won't stare at you. All right, please a cold
- 5:20Speaker 3: play the kid Leroy one or two point seven kids
- 5:22Speaker 3: that fam from his new album. Check it out. I mean,
- 5:26Speaker 3: it does have a vibe about that.
- 5:29Speaker 1: That is thanks feeling. You just kind of drift away
- 5:33Speaker 1: into it in a very cool way, and it stands out. Bro,
- 5:39Speaker 1: that's a kid Leroy one of the tracks off of
- 5:41Speaker 1: his new album. But yeah, you talk about a feeling.
- 5:45Speaker 1: You really do get a sense of a feeling when
- 5:47Speaker 1: you're listening to that. I mean, I want to hug
- 5:50Speaker 1: you totally. After hearing that, you can hug me, you
- 5:54Speaker 1: know anytime I just it's like you hear that, I
- 5:58Speaker 1: go I want to I need to talk. Yeah, I
- 6:00Speaker 1: need to check on him. I want to see what's
- 6:02Speaker 1: up with him. I'm psyched that you have come back,
- 6:05Speaker 1: and I guess it's in hindsight it was good.
- 6:07Speaker 3: I don't know what you made that you scrapped, but yeah,
- 6:10Speaker 3: I want to hear that too.
- 6:12Speaker 1: I don't know if I want to hear that that
- 6:13Speaker 1: was so good into such a feeling now created that's unique.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Thanks, man. I really appreciate it.
- 6:17Speaker 3: And you did it in a few months, right, Yeah,
- 6:19Speaker 3: I did.
- 6:19Speaker 2: I think like three months that's wild think three months?
- 6:22Speaker 3: Yeah, we did anybody think in your world you were crazy?
- 6:27Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 6:29Speaker 1: I don't know if you know, I imagine a record
- 6:31Speaker 1: label or somebody going, wait what, Yeah, I didn't what.
- 6:33Speaker 2: I don't know if you know Ron Perry, But if
- 6:35Speaker 2: you do, you should ask him how he felt when
- 6:38Speaker 2: I scrapched my entire album.
- 6:40Speaker 3: I have a feeling he may say things we can't
- 6:42Speaker 3: put on the air. Well.
- 6:45Speaker 2: And then I told not only did I like, was
- 6:47Speaker 2: it like, okay, there's a new album now. It's like
- 6:49Speaker 2: I was like, yo, I want to surprise drop this
- 6:51Speaker 2: in two weeks. And he was just like roy I
- 6:53Speaker 2: really like, He's like, I don't know, man, like I
- 6:57Speaker 2: don't know if this is good like for your like
- 7:00Speaker 2: you know, and and I didn't surprise drop it. And
- 7:02Speaker 2: I think he at the you know, he was obviously
- 7:05Speaker 2: I was. I was being dramatic. I just wanted to
- 7:07Speaker 2: put it out and be like I'm done, like I
- 7:09Speaker 2: don't you know, I'm done with this album. I'm just
- 7:12Speaker 2: onto the next thing. But it was good. I'm I'm
- 7:14Speaker 2: I'm happy that I that I that I waited it out,
- 7:16Speaker 2: and you know, we got to do these like twitch
- 7:18Speaker 2: stream things that have been really cool and got to
- 7:20Speaker 2: connect with the fans a lot more, which I think
- 7:22Speaker 2: has been really awesome. You know, it's been, it's been,
- 7:24Speaker 2: it's been great. So but I think everyone's really stoked,
- 7:28Speaker 2: you know, at the end of the day, like where
- 7:31Speaker 2: it all happened to land too. Even Ron I was
- 7:33Speaker 2: talking to Round the other day and he's he's just saying, man.
- 7:36Speaker 1: You know ron Ronnie's times run pair of the CEE
- 7:38Speaker 1: of Columbia Records.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and and and he was he was just
- 7:42Speaker 2: saying he was really happy with the music ended up lending.
- 7:44Speaker 2: And I think that's yeah, I think it's I think
- 7:47Speaker 2: it's you know.
- 7:48Speaker 1: You're an artist. You're allowed to be dramatic, You're allowed
- 7:50Speaker 1: to do all that kind of stuff.
- 7:51Speaker 3: That's like, that's what you're supposed to do exactly. It's
- 7:54Speaker 3: their job to deal with it. I feel like I'm.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Always like damn, I feel like I could be way worse, Like.
- 7:58Speaker 3: I I.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Have some crazy stories. I'm like, I don't know, I
- 8:03Speaker 2: feel like I'm pretty sure.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Yeah, you have to hear you everybody in the room.
- 8:06Speaker 3: That's what I noticed about you.
- 8:07Speaker 1: You did.
- 8:08Speaker 2: You came in and said hello to every single person
- 8:10Speaker 2: in this room, which not many people.
- 8:12Speaker 3: Not many people do that. Who didn't do that? Isn't he.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Who stands up? The kid Ler Roys album is out.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Get the Vibe in your ears check it out, roll
- 8:27Speaker 1: through those lyrics. Thank you brother for coming back to
- 8:30Speaker 1: say hello. It's great to see you again.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Much fun.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks, thanks for having time with this album. Can
- 8:35Speaker 1: wait to see you do it live too.
