  [SPEAKER_00]: So rookie mini camp over the weekend obviously multiple days of camp But media was only permitted to attend one day of camp.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It was my mom's birthday and obviously Mother's Day weekend, so we had some different things going on, but

  [SPEAKER_00]: And for my everything we heard, things went pretty well.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And so we're just kind of offering some reactions based on what I've heard, based on what's been reported, based on what we heard from William Cohen and the rest of the rookies, all that stuff, excited to get into it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, wanted to be there, but just wasn't in the cards.

  [SPEAKER_00]: this year for me.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But we do have OTAs coming up at the end of May so we will get out there on the grass and get to take a look at some of these Jaguars players as they embark on this 2026 season a season in which there's a lot of expectations both internally and externally for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So, some things to keep in mind, Josh Cameron,

  [SPEAKER_00]: physical imposing receiver, not able to go with the ankle injury.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That was a pre-existing injury when the Jaguar's drafted him.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's not a new injury.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's something they knew about.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So, no big concern there, but it will be nice to be able to get him on the grass with rookies, especially late round picks.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It can be difficult to acclimate.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It can be difficult to really be able to make an impact.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So you want to get him going.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So he can make the 53 and potentially make an impact for you on special teams with Josh Cameron.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You're talking about special teams, run blocking, catching the ball over the middle of the field, being big and physical.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, that's definitely someone to keep an eye on just kind of his timeline how things end up going with that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: No eyewords, no injuries it sounded like for the most part nothing serious so that's something you always want to avoid.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Again, we talked about this in the preview, but we've seen a Jalen Ramsey go down early.

  [SPEAKER_00]: in his rookie year with a knee injury.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Same thing with Dante Fowler Jr. and a missing his entire rookie year because of that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So you want to avoid those types of things and so far it looks like the Jaguars are in a good spot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So that's obviously a big win.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's the biggest thing to take away from rookie mini camps.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It really is just not having any major injuries as much as you can ask for from a analyst and fan standpoint coaches are looking for all sorts of stuff.

  [SPEAKER_00]: information retention, being able to take what you're having in the classroom to the field, working your butt off and both of those aspects, working your butt off in the weight room, all these different things, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: There's another thing you don't want to see besides the eye word though, and that's players standing out in a bad way.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like guys that look like they don't belong, we have seen that at different practices throughout the Jag wars over the last.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, when Tim T. Bo got out there at Titan and no shade to T. Bo, you know, I'm a gator.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I love Tim T. Bo for what he is, but he's not an NFL Titan.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Also wasn't a very good NFL quarterback.

  [SPEAKER_00]: it is what it is.

  [SPEAKER_00]: When he was out there on the practice field, it didn't look like he belonged at the Titan position.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Another example of that more recently, Derek Perish was drafted by the Jaguars.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He played mostly defensive end, past Russia in college.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They drafted him play some fullback and it just was clear immediately that that wasn't going to behave a productive use of the Jaguars time or a roster spot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And you didn't hear anything.

  [SPEAKER_00]: out of this rookie mini camp about guys that Jack Wars drafted really not fitting, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: So that's a good thing.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Guys that do stand out.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's great, but it's kind of with a grain of salt right now until they start doing it against the vets until they start doing it consistently until you get the pads on all that stuff.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But it's still, you would rather guys stand out in a positive way, then them look average or them look like they don't belong.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So it's still a good thing.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's still what you want to see.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It just doesn't mean a whole lot until later on.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Emmanuel Pregnant, these are guys that you kind of expected to look like the best out of the crop because they're big physical good athletes, productive players, forkature from what I heard, didn't allow the ball to hit the ground at all, which is huge, looked like a big physical athlete when he come in, you know, heard him talk after practice, heard Emmanuel Pregnant talk after practice as well.

  [SPEAKER_00]: These guys sound like professionals and the jag wars as they put it, they're hunting up specific types of people and players.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So it's not a big surprise that the guys that come in and communicate with the media are kind of feel like they're ready to do that kind of feel like they're trained to do that because I think the jags aren't just hunting up.

  [SPEAKER_00]: savvy media players, but these types of players that can communicate effectively are I think that's part of the thing the Jaguar is are looking for smart communicative people, Borkature and Pragonon certainly fint that bill.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So to Jaylin Husky, by the way, is a huge Lego fan that was pretty cool to find out about has just like thousands of Legos, but yeah, Borkature

  [SPEAKER_00]: Everybody talks about him not being able to catch the football, not being able to be an impact receiver.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Again, first impression based on everything we heard out there, he didn't drop the football.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Emmanuel Pregnant, his goal is like getting in the playbook and understanding everything about the Jaguars offense, looked solid in the first go round and Liam Cohen did say something interesting.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They had a lot on these guys from a mental standpoint as much as you can in this short period of time.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And so he was happy with kind of the execution in that regard.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But the two guys that are big physical athletes, porcature and pregnant on looked like that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And that's exactly what you want to see.

  [SPEAKER_00]: A couple other names to mention here.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think Koziel, the tight end out of Houston,

  [SPEAKER_00]: He was insanely productive in college, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: As a receiver.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He, for everything I saw from clips and everything I've heard, he looked really smooth, competent as a receiver, exactly what you would expect for a tie-dend that was basically the most productive tie-dend in college football over the last couple years.

  [SPEAKER_00]: CJ Williams, wider receiver.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Everybody blasted the Jaguar's for taking him.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's like in the 600s or 700s on the consensus big board, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Everything I saw from him in the limited action I got to see on tape.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I talked about, I think this is a good possession receiver.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't have like blazing speed or anything like that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But there's good footwork as a route runner.

  [SPEAKER_00]: At the catch point as well, you saw some toe drag, some toe tapping.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's got decent size, reliable hands, and it sounds like good attention to detail.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That sounds like a player who can potentially have a positive impact for you at the bottom of the roster.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that that's huge at wide receiver.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars kind of were looking for that, and early returns are strong on CJ Williams.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I'll just say that much.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So the biggest thing that Liam Cohen talked about, there's a lot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I highly recommend you go check out the entire post-practice press conference.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Something that pretty soon after the draft, when there's all this disrespect and all these people talking negatively about the jag wars I was like, man, and we made a whole show on this.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen's gonna be able to play the disrespect card again with this entire draft class for the most part.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He already said, you know, the respect, it's not common.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I've said that before, it's not common.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, Nate Borkercher talked about how he's going to use that as a chip on his shoulder.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Jag wars as a team are going to do the same thing.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Anytime you give Liam Cohen, a little bit of ammo for the disrespect card, it's going to get played.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And anytime you can get your team, your players feeling like they're disrespected.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's huge.

  [SPEAKER_00]: One thing I will say, I didn't hear Liam Cohen kind of challenge anyone publicly, from a rookie class standpoint, which Liam Cohen is always willing to challenge people publicly to try to get the most out of them.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe he doesn't want to do that with these rookies this early, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: If there's a, you know, area of somebody's work ethic or whatever of their professionalism practice habits, this, that Liam Cohen will challenge them publicly, so didn't see any of that, which I think is a good thing.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That'll do it for this, you know, reactions from rookie many camp.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The next opportunity to get on the grass will be

  [SPEAKER_00]: May 26, let's see Tuesday, may 26, that will be OTA number one, I believe, confirm that for you.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Tuesday, May 26, OTA number one, there's going to be practice from 150 p.m. to 4 p.m. and then head coach Liam Cohen, offensive coordinator Grant Ydinsky will meet with the media after that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We'll also get out there for OTA number four on June 1st, and then June 9th starts mandatory veteran mini camp, which will be out there for three consecutive days.
