- 0:44Speaker 1: I don't play enough Nora Jones in my life, but
- 0:47Speaker 1: that's going to change. We're going to visit with Nora
- 0:52Speaker 1: Jones next week on the show. I'm postiling giddy about that.
- 0:57Speaker 1: I gotta tell you Welcome in. As part of the
- 1:01Speaker 1: program is brought to you by Central Texas Sports Medicine.
- 1:07Speaker 1: We've slapped together an sec kind of preview show in
- 1:11Speaker 1: the first hour with Kirby and then Caden Proctor of Alabama.
- 1:16Speaker 1: In the middle, we're going to have a high school report.
- 1:20Speaker 3: And then.
- 1:22Speaker 1: In the second hour, this is the time of year
- 1:25Speaker 1: that I start replaying some of my favorite interviews when
- 1:32Speaker 1: we have a chance throughout the course of the year.
- 1:34Speaker 1: So I went back to January with this one. Eric
- 1:38Speaker 1: Moyan wrote a book called College Sports. It is like
- 1:41Speaker 1: the Dictionary, and it's about that big of college sports,
- 1:48Speaker 1: of the history of college sports. And I waited through
- 1:54Speaker 1: start to finish, and if you can stick with it,
- 1:58Speaker 1: it's worth the ride. What you'll find is there's a
- 2:03Speaker 1: lot that hasn't changed in college sports in one hundred
- 2:06Speaker 1: and fifty years, a lot. Where do you know that
- 2:13Speaker 1: Roosevelt wanted to shut down football in the early nineteen
- 2:17Speaker 1: hundreds because guys were dying on the field and there
- 2:23Speaker 1: was way too much emphasis on college football. Back in
- 2:26Speaker 1: nineteen oh two, there wasn't enough emphasis on college too
- 2:33Speaker 1: much emphasis on football. Oh my gosh. But you know what,
- 2:42Speaker 1: back then, some of the presidents did shut down the
- 2:44Speaker 1: programs at their schools. They're like, now, we ain't doing that,
- 2:49Speaker 1: but they weren't getting a bazillion dollars to show their
- 2:53Speaker 1: games on television back then either. I wondered if they
- 2:57Speaker 1: would have been, as you know, protective of their college
- 3:09Speaker 1: and academics if they were getting a bazillion dollars, which
- 3:13Speaker 1: is what's happened today. So much money today, as we
- 3:15Speaker 1: talked about yesterday with the writers, the presidents and chancellors
- 3:20Speaker 1: have basically said, this is my job anymore. You guys
- 3:24Speaker 1: are on your own. We can't do anything about this.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Go to school.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Don't go to school.
- 3:31Speaker 3: We don't care.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Basketball tonight, Aggie's Panthers sec ACC Challenge. I'll say it again,
- 3:43Speaker 1: I missed the Big twelfth Challenge, so because of this,
- 3:47Speaker 1: A and M had to fly to Pittsburgh, and Pittsburgh's okay,
- 3:53Speaker 1: they're probably Florida statish. I'll know better when I see
- 3:59Speaker 1: them this evening. But that game's at six o'clock part
- 4:03Speaker 1: of the challenge. It's on the U. And you know
- 4:08Speaker 1: they've sent their top announcing team, Jay Alter and Randolph Childress. Yeah,
- 4:15Speaker 1: never heard of them.
- 4:17Speaker 4: Never.
- 4:18Speaker 1: And I watched college foot basketball all last week, right,
- 4:22Speaker 1: there were a thousand games on TV. I did not
- 4:26Speaker 1: hear Jay Alter and Randolph Childress. Bless their hearts. Also
- 4:34Speaker 1: tonight in the challenge. Oklahoma's at Wake Forest, Tennessee at Syracuse,
- 4:41Speaker 1: Virginia Tech at South Carolina, Florida Duke. That's the biggie Georgia,
- 4:49Speaker 1: Florida State, Missouri, Notre Dame, Miami, Ole miss And then
- 4:55Speaker 1: at eight thirty North Carolina and Kentucky. I read today
- 5:03Speaker 1: those schools have I don't know, five million wins between
- 5:06Speaker 1: them historically, about four point nine nine million more than
- 5:16Speaker 1: A and M in terms of number of basketball victories.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Purdue and Rutgers play Yukon and Kansas play usc Oregon
- 5:27Speaker 1: play Kansas. Star freshman Darren Patterson's still not going to
- 5:30Speaker 1: play against Utah. He's got a bad hammy. He's missed
- 5:34Speaker 1: the past six games. Bill self says he's very close.
- 5:39Speaker 1: He's worked his butt off, but he's not one hundred percent.
- 5:42Speaker 1: He's day to day. Bill, We're all day today. Alabama
- 5:50Speaker 1: and South Florida have moved next year's scheduled game to
- 5:56Speaker 1: twenty thirty two. The Crimson Tide has replaced South Florida
- 6:05Speaker 1: with Tennessee Chattanooga. This is the first of a lot
- 6:12Speaker 1: of this that's going to start happening if the CFP
- 6:18Speaker 1: refuses to consider strength of record and strength of schedule,
- 6:22Speaker 1: which apparently they're not. Vanderbilt has landed a historic recruiting
- 6:33Speaker 1: win and flipped a five star quarterback from Georgia, Jared Curtis,
- 6:44Speaker 1: by far the top ranked recruit in Vanderbilt history. He's
- 6:52Speaker 1: going to replace Diego Pavia. If Diego ever leaves, this
- 6:57Speaker 1: guy may be sorry.
- 6:58Speaker 5: That he came.
- 6:59Speaker 1: He's going to be sitting on the pitch five years
- 7:02Speaker 1: from now while Diego's having grandchildren. Penn State interested in
- 7:12Speaker 1: BYU coach Kilani Sataki. Sataki apparently interested as well. That
- 7:19Speaker 1: woke up rich BYU alum Jason McGowan, the CEO of
- 7:25Speaker 1: Crumble Cookies, who called Sataki quote not replaceable and vowed
- 7:31Speaker 1: to quote get off the sidelines and get to work
- 7:36Speaker 1: to keep the coach at BYU. Now BYU's got a
- 7:40Speaker 1: lot of money, all right, The Mormons have a lot
- 7:44Speaker 1: of money.
- 7:46Speaker 6: Uh?
- 7:46Speaker 1: Is that official, Caleb that he's continuing as the head coach?
- 7:52Speaker 1: Er is that's just one of those Hey, I don't
- 7:55Speaker 1: plan on going anywhere.
- 7:56Speaker 7: It says he's begun to inform people he intends to
- 7:59Speaker 7: stay begun.
- 8:00Speaker 5: Oh that's that's horrible.
- 8:03Speaker 1: That's terrible. Begun to inform people he intends to stay. Oh,
- 8:08Speaker 1: that's that's definite right there. Tiger Woods admits, man, he's
- 8:15Speaker 1: having a hard time physically still. Tiger turns listen to me.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Tiger turns fifty on December thirtieth. How old was it?
- 8:25Speaker 1: Wasn't it his birthday when Tiger got his dome wrapped
- 8:31Speaker 1: by the two iron in his driveway. Wasn't that his
- 8:36Speaker 1: thirtieth birthday?
- 8:38Speaker 8: Anyway?
- 8:40Speaker 1: He had his seventh back procedure in October. That was
- 8:45Speaker 1: following achilles surgery in March. He has no timetable. He
- 8:52Speaker 1: said it's been slow to recover. Said he won't be
- 8:59Speaker 1: available for the schedule in January. You know they play
- 9:04Speaker 1: that indoor link stuff, the TV stuff that he's part
- 9:07Speaker 1: of with Rory, He's probably not gonna be playing there either.
- 9:12Speaker 1: And Serena has just stopped all of the craziness. There
- 9:19Speaker 1: was a story that came out that that she had
- 9:23Speaker 1: officially applied to the ITIA to re enter the International
- 9:29Speaker 1: Registered Testing Pool, which could be first steps to return
- 9:35Speaker 1: to tennis. She put on some kind of tweet that said,
- 9:42Speaker 1: let's stop all this madness or something like that, which
- 9:46Speaker 1: I'm glad to hear. And Joey maguire has gotten more
- 9:51Speaker 1: of Cody Campbell's money. He's agreed to a new seven
- 9:54Speaker 1: year deal worth seven millionaire. By the way, the cost
- 9:57Speaker 1: of living in Lubbock, it's not bad. McGuire of course,
- 10:04Speaker 1: has led TECH to the number five ranking. We'll see
- 10:08Speaker 1: tonight when that comes out in three hours or whenever
- 10:11Speaker 1: it's coming out. That's seven, Caleb probably tonight something like that.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Tech faces BYU of course in Jerry World for the
- 10:20Speaker 1: Big twelve title.
- 10:24Speaker 5: Let's see seven.
- 10:25Speaker 1: It doesn't say how many. Yeah, seven years averaging seven
- 10:30Speaker 1: million a year, and I'm sure there's all kinds of
- 10:32Speaker 1: bonus stuff to go on as well. And Charlie Weiss junior,
- 10:39Speaker 1: who went with Lane to LSU going back to Ole
- 10:45Speaker 1: Miss to be the offensive coordinator during the college football playoffs.
- 10:50Speaker 3: I like that.
- 10:51Speaker 1: So they won't let Lane coach, but they're gonna let
- 10:54Speaker 1: the OC coach.
- 10:55Speaker 8: That's okay.
- 10:57Speaker 1: I'm sure the players seriously are thrilled. I mean, he's
- 11:01Speaker 1: been the voice you know all year with late So
- 11:06Speaker 1: there you go, all right, I'll catch up on that.
- 11:09Speaker 1: We're going to hear from Kirby playing another SEC championship
- 11:15Speaker 1: after the final lap brought to you by and Co Insurance.
- 11:18Speaker 9: Enco Insurance is now a part of Hub International, bringing
- 11:22Speaker 9: you more choices, better value, and even greater expertise. While
- 11:25Speaker 9: our name has changed, we're still the same local team
- 11:28Speaker 9: you know and trust, now with even more to offer
- 11:30Speaker 9: from business insurance to personal protection and employee benefits. We're
- 11:34Speaker 9: still committed to protecting what matters most with the personalized
- 11:37Speaker 9: service you expect now with the strength of Hub International
- 11:40Speaker 9: behind us, more resources, more solutions, Still your team and
- 11:44Speaker 9: co Insurance a Hub International company, so you're ready for tomorrow.
- 11:50Speaker 10: Carson Hose of Ar picked up his first career Cup
- 11:53Speaker 10: Series poll position back at Texas, and he was the
- 11:55Speaker 10: youngest driver to ever do so.
- 11:57Speaker 6: I didn't think it was great. Through one too, it
- 12:00Speaker 6: felt so comfortable and so much gripped. I'm like, man,
- 12:03Speaker 6: I could have used a little bit more throttle and everything,
- 12:07Speaker 6: but it felt super smooth, and you know, going through
- 12:09Speaker 6: three and four it felt really good ride quality obviously
- 12:12Speaker 6: easy wide open cut distance and they said it was
- 12:15Speaker 6: P one and you know that's ultimately where I was like, man,
- 12:19Speaker 6: it felt so good, it felt slow, so yeah, really fortunate,
- 12:22Speaker 6: really thankful to have a fast car obviously fastested practice,
- 12:27Speaker 6: you know, do it again obviously, and qualifying and be
- 12:29Speaker 6: able to back that up. I think it's really important
- 12:31Speaker 6: for our group and showing the strength of being able
- 12:34Speaker 6: to you know, go from practice to qualifying adjustments and
- 12:37Speaker 6: the way we've been going, be able to do that
- 12:40Speaker 6: to the race too, and just put together a whole
- 12:42Speaker 6: weekend and whole race worth of adjustments. And I think
- 12:45Speaker 6: we're getting a lot closer right now. Normally you could
- 12:47Speaker 6: see lap time on the dash, and even that didn't
- 12:49Speaker 6: work right away, And I mean, I don't know how
- 12:52Speaker 6: good this was. And luckily they told me pretty quickly
- 12:55Speaker 6: and I didn't have to you know, wait in anticipation
- 12:58Speaker 6: or anything. But obviously, you know, Mico going out and
- 13:00Speaker 6: put it up a really good lap time. I felt like,
- 13:02Speaker 6: we're you know, faster than him in practice. So give
- 13:05Speaker 6: me a little bit of confidence that, you know, our
- 13:07Speaker 6: stuff was going to be asked quick, if not hopefully
- 13:10Speaker 6: a little quicker. To be able to back that up,
- 13:12Speaker 6: and for him to run a good lap, you know,
- 13:13Speaker 6: gave me a little bit more confidence in our car. Honestly,
- 13:16Speaker 6: you're on the final lap.
- 13:18Speaker 11: Whoa, whoa, whoa more fiber what down here, buddy, it's
- 13:23Speaker 11: me your spoon constipation with belly pain still coming back.
- 13:27Speaker 5: Yeah, talk to your doctor.
- 13:28Speaker 12: It could be irritable bowel syndrome with constipation or IBSC,
- 13:32Speaker 12: but linses could help you get ahead of it. Linz
- 13:34Speaker 12: Es Lnaqutite is a prescription medicine that treats IBSC in adults.
- 13:38Speaker 12: It's not a laxative. It's a one daily pill that

- 13:42Speaker 12: help you have more frequent and complete bowel movements and
- 13:45Speaker 12: helps relieve overall abdominal symptoms belly pain, discomfort, and bloating.
- 13:49Speaker 12: These symptoms were studied in combination, not individually. Do not
- 13:52Speaker 12: give linzas to children less than too it may harm them.
- 13:54Speaker 12: Do not take lens as if you have a bell blockage.

- 14:27Speaker 13: point seven.
- 14:27Speaker 8: El thanks for joining us.
- 15:01Speaker 1: It is Tuesday, Scott Colenden and will join us tomorrow.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Also tomorrow, Mark Shaw is going to join me. He's
- 15:13Speaker 1: been on my show a couple of times. He has
- 15:15Speaker 1: written numerous books on the assassinations of John Kennedy Robert Kennedy.
- 15:24Speaker 1: This one is more focused on RFK, but honestly, he
- 15:31Speaker 1: goes so deep into everything. We're going to talk to
- 15:38Speaker 1: him about that as well, because there's just a lot
- 15:42Speaker 1: of stuff going on that, you know, is weird. Lots
- 15:51Speaker 1: of weird stuff as you already know. But we'll talk
- 15:53Speaker 1: to Mark Shaw. I told you Ignra Jones next week.
- 15:56Speaker 1: And also little Jimmy Hawkins. He played Tommy the Youngest
- 16:03Speaker 1: Son and it's a wonderful life. One of my all
- 16:07Speaker 1: time faves and a Christmas tradition at the Howard household.
- 16:13Speaker 1: All right, right now, we're gonna hear from Georgia football
- 16:17Speaker 1: coach Kirby Smart ho hum, another SEC title game.
- 16:22Speaker 14: I guess most of you guys were on the conference
- 16:24Speaker 14: last night, so there's not a lot to say.
- 16:26Speaker 5: That hadn't been said.
- 16:28Speaker 14: SEC Championship game also opportunity for our guys. I told
- 16:33Speaker 14: him last night, you know you you you earned the
- 16:35Speaker 14: opportunity to play in this game. This was not given.
- 16:38Speaker 14: This was earned. This is not picked by a committee.
- 16:40Speaker 14: It was It was on the field and two teams
- 16:44Speaker 14: that had already played once both played really daunting SEC
- 16:50Speaker 14: schedules and get a chance to battle it out to
- 16:53Speaker 14: see who the SEC champion is, which a lot at
- 16:56Speaker 14: stake and always is. Uh. But you playing a really
- 17:00Speaker 14: good football team. Coastal Boards done a great job with
- 17:02Speaker 14: them playing at a high level when you when you
- 17:05Speaker 14: when you look at both sides of the ball, they
- 17:08Speaker 14: compliment each other, playing really well offensively and defensively. I
- 17:12Speaker 14: think that's important to be successful in our conference. And
- 17:16Speaker 14: they've got a good group of players and they're they're
- 17:18Speaker 14: staff done a great job.
- 17:20Speaker 5: To put them in this position.
- 17:21Speaker 14: So this will be our guys opportunity to go out
- 17:24Speaker 14: and play in a place that we've played a lot
- 17:27Speaker 14: of games in and I'm excited for the opportunity. It's
- 17:30Speaker 14: always a great atmosphere and crowd, and then the viewership
- 17:35Speaker 14: the people that watch it across the country is always
- 17:37Speaker 14: really high.
- 17:37Speaker 5: So I'm excited for our guys.
- 17:41Speaker 14: Yeah, coach, I'm sure you've had an opportunity to go
- 17:44Speaker 14: a full deep dive on this offense from Alabama. How
- 17:46Speaker 14: have they developed and changed since you guys played them
- 17:49Speaker 14: last I wouldn't call it a deep dive. I got
- 17:51Speaker 14: to watch the games in between our game and theirs.
- 17:55Speaker 14: I don't think you change a whole lot during the year.
- 17:58Speaker 14: You play to the skill set of your playmates. They've
- 18:00Speaker 14: got playmakers, they've played with the skill set of those guys.
- 18:04Speaker 14: Ties still playing really well. He's extremely athletic. Uh, he
- 18:09Speaker 14: can extend plays, he knows where to go to the ball,
- 18:12Speaker 14: he knows defenses, He's played a lot of football, and
- 18:16Speaker 14: he's played with a lot of confidence. So I don't
- 18:19Speaker 14: think there's a lot of change. I mean, they're really
- 18:21Speaker 14: good at what they do, and they do a great
- 18:23Speaker 14: job with shift the motion, keeping you off balance, with tempo,
- 18:28Speaker 14: you know, vertical plays, horizontal plays.
- 18:30Speaker 5: They do a great job.
- 18:33Speaker 15: But you were talking about the progression of Gunner yesterday
- 18:35Speaker 15: in terms of how the team has changed, in terms
- 18:37Speaker 15: of the identity is the offense right now pretty much
- 18:42Speaker 15: what you thought it would be in the spring. You
- 18:44Speaker 15: said you'd have to run the ball, or have you
- 18:45Speaker 15: guys been able to do some some different things or evolve.
- 18:48Speaker 5: A little bit.
- 18:52Speaker 14: I'm not sure your question. Is our offense what I
- 18:55Speaker 14: think it would be? A yeah, I'm very pleased with
- 18:59Speaker 14: what our offenses done this year. I'm very pleased with
- 19:03Speaker 14: the total package of how they utilized the skill set
- 19:07Speaker 14: and the strengths of the team. Considering two to three
- 19:10Speaker 14: freshman linemen have been in there a lot.
- 19:13Speaker 5: I've been really pleased with that group.
- 19:16Speaker 14: The ability and the commitment to the run compliments what
- 19:20Speaker 14: Gunner does well and please where those guys have been.
- 19:25Speaker 16: You talked last night about how valuable experience was for
- 19:28Speaker 16: the guys on defense. How much do you like that
- 19:30Speaker 16: applies to your defensive line and just the growth you've
- 19:33Speaker 16: seen how valuable the experience has been.
- 19:36Speaker 14: I would say it's more the experience has been bigger
- 19:40Speaker 14: for young linebackers, outside linebackers and secondary maybe the defensive line.
- 19:45Speaker 5: I mean, outside of EG. A lot of those guys have.
- 19:47Speaker 14: Played football, and EG is a guy that's gotten better
- 19:52Speaker 14: with time and gotten more comfortable, but a lot of
- 19:54Speaker 14: those guys were experienced coming into the year, and I
- 19:58Speaker 14: don't think any of our early struggles were a testament
- 20:02Speaker 14: to anything about the defensive line. It was just more
- 20:05Speaker 14: a matter of growth and getting more experience and executing
- 20:08Speaker 14: at a higher level at all positions.
- 20:11Speaker 17: Yeah, sticking with the defense, How have you seen Glenn
- 20:13Speaker 17: Schume as a coach develop and grow over the course.
- 20:15Speaker 5: Of this season? Honestly, I don't think.
- 20:20Speaker 14: I mean he's grown over the course of his career,
- 20:23Speaker 14: and he's grown over the course of ten years being here,
- 20:28Speaker 14: but specifically this year, I don't think he's had it grow.
- 20:32Speaker 14: I think he's had to do a great job of
- 20:35Speaker 14: deciding what this group does best and trying to utilize
- 20:40Speaker 14: and improve the skill sets.
- 20:43Speaker 5: We don't know.
- 20:44Speaker 14: We don't have a dynamic, clear cut, dominant rusher. We've
- 20:49Speaker 14: had some of those in the past, with Jalen Michael
- 20:52Speaker 14: both coming out early and Tye those guys not being there.
- 20:56Speaker 5: It was a little bit of an adjustment.
- 20:57Speaker 14: To get the younger players groomed faster, But I can't
- 21:01Speaker 14: say that that humans had to grow.
- 21:04Speaker 5: He's had to utilize what we have. You had to
- 21:08Speaker 5: kind of follow up on that.
- 21:09Speaker 7: You answered a little bit, but you said the other
- 21:11Speaker 7: night the coaches have figured out who we are on
- 21:13Speaker 7: defense utilizing those skill sets. What is the process like
- 21:16Speaker 7: that and process of doing that and how much of
- 21:18Speaker 7: it is just you've got to see what it looks
- 21:21Speaker 7: like in the game before making some.
- 21:22Speaker 5: Of those changes.
- 21:24Speaker 14: Yeah, I don't know if there's a lot of changes
- 21:25Speaker 14: make guys. I mean, I think y'all are making a
- 21:27Speaker 14: bigger deal about something that. I mean, we're improving, we've played.
- 21:32Speaker 5: Better, but.
- 21:34Speaker 14: You know, some of the offense we played have been
- 21:37Speaker 14: really explosive. I mean, Ole Miss is a really explosive offense.
- 21:40Speaker 14: Tennessee is a high arctane offense, and they get a
- 21:43Speaker 14: lot of snaps, they go to tempo, they score points.
- 21:47Speaker 5: Alabama's done that.
- 21:48Speaker 14: So some of it is how you play, some of
- 21:51Speaker 14: it's who you play, and some of us how you
- 21:53Speaker 14: change and adapt.
- 21:54Speaker 5: And I think we're always trying to change and adapt.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Kirby Saindy Day's coming up Wednesday.
- 21:59Speaker 18: There are there are any advantages it to it being
- 22:02Speaker 18: the week of the SEC Championship game, any disadvantages?
- 22:05Speaker 3: How are you going to handle the scheduling or and
- 22:07Speaker 3: would you like to see that dy changed.
- 22:09Speaker 14: Yeah, I mean change to win. When's a good time
- 22:13Speaker 14: to have it? Last week, the next week? I mean
- 22:17Speaker 14: there's no, there's no you know, they made the decision
- 22:19Speaker 14: a long time ago to move this in front of
- 22:23Speaker 14: your roster changes in additions to your own team, so
- 22:26Speaker 14: that you would have one thing squared away. You got
- 22:29Speaker 14: to remember, as a little less two to three years ago,
- 22:31Speaker 14: we had portal going.
- 22:33Speaker 5: On and sign a date going on.
- 22:35Speaker 14: So I mean I was in the decision making process
- 22:38Speaker 14: when it went to signing on the week of the
- 22:41Speaker 14: SEC Championship. I didn't like it then, I don't like
- 22:44Speaker 14: it now. But I don't have a better answer. There's
- 22:47Speaker 14: a calendar timeline, there's an academic calendar to universities and
- 22:51Speaker 14: also high school kids. There's not an opportune time to
- 22:56Speaker 14: have it, and so you do what's best for the
- 23:00Speaker 14: most and not necessarily the least or the teams that
- 23:03Speaker 14: are playing. It makes for some tough challenges this week,
- 23:06Speaker 14: for sure, but people understand that they respect teams that
- 23:10Speaker 14: are still playing.
- 23:14Speaker 19: Coach, obviously, you've been in a lot of these championship
- 23:16Speaker 19: type moments since you were a coordinator, Because how does
- 23:20Speaker 19: experience going into a championship like atmosphere, championship like football game.
- 23:25Speaker 19: How does that impact your preparation? How much have you
- 23:28Speaker 19: kind of learned over the years about you know, how
- 23:31Speaker 19: many random things that can decide these games that you
- 23:33Speaker 19: have to prepare for. What's what's How how is that
- 23:35Speaker 19: kind of shaped your process?
- 23:37Speaker 5: Yeah, it doesn't change game to game.
- 23:39Speaker 14: I mean, championship game is no different than the game
- 23:42Speaker 14: that gets you to the championship game. Right, We've been
- 23:44Speaker 14: playing championship games every week in my opinion, so the
- 23:49Speaker 14: the you know what wins football games doesn't change. You know,
- 23:53Speaker 14: good players win football games, not turning the ball over,
- 23:57Speaker 14: when's football games? Being explosive when's football games? And that
- 24:01Speaker 14: that will not change in this this this game. I mean,
- 24:04Speaker 14: the turnover margin of the last game was a factor,
- 24:07Speaker 14: explosive plays of the last game was a factor. There
- 24:10Speaker 14: will be factors in this one. There'll be factors in
- 24:13Speaker 14: the next one after this one. So that doesn't change.
- 24:15Speaker 14: And I don't you know, if anything, the experience you
- 24:18Speaker 14: learned from playing in this or more about you know,
- 24:21Speaker 14: time management with sign of it going on, practice management,
- 24:26Speaker 14: with the loads your players got, you know, this extra
- 24:29Speaker 14: week in the season.
- 24:30Speaker 5: That's that's what we try to lean on from an
- 24:33Speaker 5: experience standpoint.
- 24:35Speaker 20: Coach, touch on it briefly, but back to the identity
- 24:39Speaker 20: part of things. You've been vocal about running the ball
- 24:41Speaker 20: and how that's going to be like part of the
- 24:44Speaker 20: winning culture here. How if if that identity has changed
- 24:48Speaker 20: over the course of the season, how would you say
- 24:50Speaker 20: it has.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Sort of supposed to be.
- 24:52Speaker 14: Yeah, I wouldn't say the identity has changed for us
- 24:55Speaker 14: of needing to be able to run the ball to
- 24:58Speaker 14: be successful.
- 24:59Speaker 5: That can't change, not not not for us.
- 25:03Speaker 20: I or just more so wondering like on we could
- 25:06Speaker 20: be basis, would you say like the team has like
- 25:09Speaker 20: a broader at fee or is it more so like
- 25:11Speaker 20: focusing on what it was at the beginning of the season.
- 25:15Speaker 14: No, the the things that are important to our identity,
- 25:18Speaker 14: the physical toughness required, the discipline, the all the things
- 25:22Speaker 14: that we require to be successful. Uh, have not changed
- 25:25Speaker 14: week to week or since the beginning of the season.
- 25:28Speaker 14: We might do better at 'em one week or the other,
- 25:30Speaker 14: but they don't change.
- 25:33Speaker 21: Or you're preparing for this game, but meanwhile, coaching changes
- 25:35Speaker 21: all around the SEC and uh, you're now the DNA
- 25:38Speaker 21: SEC coaches.
- 25:39Speaker 3: What do you make of that?
- 25:42Speaker 14: Uh got a great program, great administration, uh gr great
- 25:47Speaker 14: supporting cast here, and it's allowed us to be successful.
- 25:50Speaker 5: I mean I talk about it all the time.
- 25:51Speaker 14: If you have good players, you coach 'em the right way,
- 25:54Speaker 14: coach them hard. Uh you can, you can be successful.
- 25:58Speaker 14: And we've been successful. It's hard to sustain anything and
- 26:04Speaker 14: stay consistent, and especially in this league where it's really competitive,
- 26:09Speaker 14: and I don't think a lot about the tenure or
- 26:14Speaker 14: you know, their person that's been there the longest. I
- 26:16Speaker 14: got a lot of respect from Mark and he's a
- 26:20Speaker 14: good friend.
- 26:21Speaker 17: On a similar note, you mentioned consistency a lot. What
- 26:25Speaker 17: are some things that you've done to instilled in this
- 26:26Speaker 17: program that allow you guys to be that consistently excellent?
- 26:31Speaker 14: Things like Jonas Jennings being part of our staff since
- 26:33Speaker 14: I've been here, Scott Sinclair, Glynn Shuman, Tray Scott their
- 26:38Speaker 14: pillars in this building. They believe in the core values
- 26:42Speaker 14: of the head coach. They helped push those. I think
- 26:46Speaker 14: reinventing yourself as much as you can every year and
- 26:51Speaker 14: trying to be a good teacher creates consistency. I think
- 26:55Speaker 14: the player buy in and the players we select to
- 26:57Speaker 14: be part of our program.
- 27:00Speaker 5: That's the only way you're.
- 27:01Speaker 14: Gonna be consistent is, you know, not be afraid to
- 27:04Speaker 14: make tough decisions. And we've talked about, you know, qualities
- 27:09Speaker 14: of great leaders require you to make tough decisions.
- 27:13Speaker 22: I would think that Drew has helped Gonna be comfortable
- 27:16Speaker 22: back there, helping him out with his experience. But how
- 27:18Speaker 22: much has Drew really helped those freshmen, true freshmen be
- 27:20Speaker 22: able to play this year and what comfort does he
- 27:23Speaker 22: bring to those guys.
- 27:24Speaker 14: Yeah, he's he's very knowledgeable the game.
- 27:28Speaker 5: He grows up, he grew up around it, in it.
- 27:30Speaker 14: He understands football, he knows leverages, he knows a lot
- 27:34Speaker 14: about what's going on. You know, he and his dad
- 27:37Speaker 14: have a great relationship that allows him to know a
- 27:40Speaker 14: lot of things and make a lot of checks and
- 27:42Speaker 14: put us in right situations a lot of times.
- 27:44Speaker 5: So he's certainly a really good football player.
- 27:49Speaker 3: Kurby.
- 27:49Speaker 23: There's obviously you've coached a lot of rematch games from
- 27:53Speaker 23: the regular season, and is there any how much of
- 27:57Speaker 23: the gap between games matters. I mean, there's been some that,
- 28:00Speaker 23: you know, like twenty twenty one, Alabama was a month
- 28:03Speaker 23: later and twenty seventeen Auburn was like three weeks later,
- 28:08Speaker 23: Texas was a little further. Does the gap matter in
- 28:13Speaker 23: terms of the dynamics of a rematch, I.
- 28:17Speaker 5: Mean, unless you just.
- 28:20Speaker 14: Beat up and got a lot of players missing, which
- 28:23Speaker 14: they're pretty beat up, we're pretty beat up.
- 28:26Speaker 5: The gauntlet of the stretch.
- 28:27Speaker 14: That they played and we've played, has you know, impacted
- 28:30Speaker 14: both of our seasons. I think, you know, we both
- 28:33Speaker 14: had people coming in or coming out of lineups the
- 28:37Speaker 14: last time we played, and now you look at the
- 28:41Speaker 14: long spell between games seven, six, seven, eight games, whatever
- 28:44Speaker 14: it is, it's both teams are coming out of and
- 28:48Speaker 14: coming into injuries. But in terms of the x'es and
- 28:51Speaker 14: o's and the schemes, in terms of the gap, I
- 28:53Speaker 14: don't think so. I mean, you evolve as a team,
- 28:56Speaker 14: you have trends, but good teams do what they did.
- 29:00Speaker 14: There's not gonna be a lot of change. And both
- 29:02Speaker 14: these teams are good teams. Yeah, where have you seen?
- 29:06Speaker 7: Gabe and Quatavia's just progress the most throughout the year,
- 29:09Speaker 7: and especially looking back on that first matchup with Alabama since.
- 29:12Speaker 14: Then, confidence in in in repetition, and I think they
- 29:19Speaker 14: both are very knowledgeable, a little more experienced a lot
- 29:24Speaker 14: of practice reps between that game and this one, quite
- 29:27Speaker 14: a bit of game reps between this one and that one.
- 29:30Speaker 14: I mean, Gabe's a little older, Q. You know, we're
- 29:34Speaker 14: still kind of coming into his own He was young then, and.
- 29:37Speaker 5: He's growing up a lot.
- 29:38Speaker 14: He's had to grow up because he got forced into
- 29:40Speaker 14: playing time at an early age last year and even
- 29:43Speaker 14: this year, and he's accepted that role and he's improved.
- 29:48Speaker 5: Coach.
- 29:49Speaker 15: Obviously a lot of shifting landscape in the in the SEC.
- 29:52Speaker 15: I guess kind of two part question. One, what did
- 29:54Speaker 15: you think about Lean's decision to go to l s U?
- 29:56Speaker 5: And two? When there's this many new coaches, is that
- 30:01Speaker 5: gonna make.
- 30:02Speaker 15: For a lot of I mean there's a lot off
- 30:04Speaker 15: season work anyway, but does it add even more now
- 30:06Speaker 15: that there's gonna be so many different faces and new
- 30:09Speaker 15: schemes Ex's and O's.
- 30:10Speaker 3: Coming in the league.
- 30:12Speaker 14: I mean, I think most of these guys are descendants
- 30:16Speaker 14: or they come from a tree of coaching, and and uh,
- 30:20Speaker 14: there'll be similarities. I mean, we have tape of every
- 30:22Speaker 14: team we play. We have tape of every team that
- 30:24Speaker 14: those guys coached. So, uh, there'll be some carryover in
- 30:29Speaker 14: terms of the new coaches, but it's, you know, it's
- 30:32Speaker 14: a long whale way before we start worrying about that.
- 30:37Speaker 14: I don't I don't envy the position he was in.
- 30:39Speaker 14: I think it's a really hard position to be in
- 30:43Speaker 14: and to navigate. I think, you know, coach Saban addressed
- 30:47Speaker 14: it best. It's not a it's it's a we're in
- 30:51Speaker 14: a time frame where ads or and people are making
- 30:55Speaker 14: decisions in a timeline that's not congruent with the season
- 31:00Speaker 14: in the playoffs, so it makes for really difficult decisions.
- 31:06Speaker 21: Drew Brannan helped you guys with some of these big
- 31:09Speaker 21: game weeks.
- 31:10Speaker 5: Do you think the history.
- 31:10Speaker 21: Against Alabama something he may help with in terms of
- 31:13Speaker 21: if there's you know, any mental hurdle or just external
- 31:17Speaker 21: noise that they will come up by, you know, during
- 31:19Speaker 21: a week like this.
- 31:20Speaker 14: He's helped every Alabama game since twenty twenty. He does
- 31:23Speaker 14: a great job.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Apparently he hasn't done a good enough job because Kirby
- 31:29Speaker 1: can't beat Alabama. It's the white whale. He beats everybody
- 31:34Speaker 1: and beats them badly. He can't beat Alabama. And I
- 31:37Speaker 1: got to tell you It's kind of like a Michigan
- 31:40Speaker 1: Ohio state thing, which I thought last year. Man, if
- 31:43Speaker 1: they can't beat him last year, you know, they were
- 31:44Speaker 1: number one, the whole whole deal. But Michigan is a
- 31:48Speaker 1: little maybe a little better last year than they are
- 31:50Speaker 1: this year. About to say, I'm thinking, if Kirby can't
- 31:54Speaker 1: take Alabama this.
- 31:55Speaker 5: Year, he may never be able to beat.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Him, because this ain't Alabama. Is not the Alabama team
- 32:01Speaker 1: we're going to accustomed to. Ty Simpson, who was the
- 32:05Speaker 1: focus of my Heisman vote back in October, has not
- 32:11Speaker 1: been good the last five weeks at least. And I
- 32:18Speaker 1: just look, Championship games are different.
- 32:22Speaker 5: I get it.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Alabama thinks they can beat Georgia because they've done it,
- 32:26Speaker 1: and they did it earlier this year at Georgia. What's
- 32:30Speaker 1: spread on that game. Georgia's got to be favored. I mean,
- 32:35Speaker 1: they've got to be favored in that game.
- 32:39Speaker 5: Two and a half.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Two and a half.
- 32:41Speaker 3: Wow.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Okay, this is why I don't bet sports. We're going

- 33:02Speaker 1: it's like a stocking stuffer, just a gift certificate for
- 33:07Speaker 1: one of the services, or they can write it out,
- 33:10Speaker 1: you know, monetary value and let her pick, or she
- 33:13Speaker 1: can trade once she gets there. They let them do that.

- 33:35Speaker 1: people doing it online, drop by one of the two stores,
- 33:38Speaker 1: because they have this really good looking gift bag with
- 33:44Speaker 1: bows and ribbons and it's really nice and she thinks
- 33:49Speaker 1: you put in a lot of time and thought in
- 33:51Speaker 1: it and you don't have to tell her otherwise. Go

- 35:31Speaker 26: today we're going out to the Polaria sponsor to phone
- 35:33Speaker 26: line to visit with the head volleyball coach for the
- 35:35Speaker 26: Iola Bulldogs, Jamie MCDOUGALLD.
- 35:38Speaker 5: Thank you for joining us.
- 35:39Speaker 3: How are you doing today?
- 35:40Speaker 27: I'm doing fine, Thank you.
- 35:42Speaker 26: Yes, ma'am. First off, congratulations on securing that twenty twenty
- 35:45Speaker 26: five state championship. How does it feel to lead your
- 35:47Speaker 26: team to such an accomplishment.
- 35:50Speaker 27: It feels really good. The girls worked hard and we
- 35:52Speaker 27: put in lots and lots of hours, you know, working
- 35:55Speaker 27: toward it, and it it feels great to finally finally
- 35:59Speaker 27: achieve it.
- 36:00Speaker 3: Yeah, of course.
- 36:01Speaker 26: And this was your third straight year in a row
- 36:03Speaker 26: where you faced Crawford for a championship title. What did
- 36:05Speaker 26: you expect from this matchup and what surprised you about
- 36:08Speaker 26: the match?
- 36:11Speaker 27: Any time you played Crawford, you're expecting a good match
- 36:14Speaker 27: and UH, coach Cocher from Crawford is very good at UH.
- 36:17Speaker 27: He watches film and picks a partser team and he's
- 36:20Speaker 27: very good at finding weak spots and just picking at him.
- 36:24Speaker 27: And we were expecting it. So we went to work,
- 36:28Speaker 27: you know, fixing everything we could and scouting to see
- 36:33Speaker 27: what we could we could guard against. And you know,
- 36:36Speaker 27: he did it. But our girls stood the test and
- 36:39Speaker 27: everything we practiced, they put fourth on the court and
- 36:41Speaker 27: they did a great job. Playing that on on Thursday,
- 36:48Speaker 27: and then you always expect, you know, multiple sets. And
- 36:51Speaker 27: I was just proud of the way our girls stood
- 36:53Speaker 27: in the in the second and third game and they
- 36:56Speaker 27: played they got better every game and you can see
- 36:59Speaker 27: that the score. I was very proud of the way
- 37:01Speaker 27: they played.
- 37:03Speaker 3: That's awesome.
- 37:04Speaker 26: And do you think your preparation changed. Do you think
- 37:08Speaker 26: that you prepared for this game any different than any
- 37:10Speaker 26: other game during the season.
- 37:13Speaker 27: You do, It's just on a big stage, so you
- 37:15Speaker 27: know you have to just first try to get the
- 37:17Speaker 27: girls to calm down, you know, treat it like any
- 37:20Speaker 27: other game kind of attitude. But you know, the girls
- 37:23Speaker 27: are excited and they put an extra time watching film
- 37:26Speaker 27: and we watched it a lot of films, So we
- 37:28Speaker 27: probably put in a lot of extra hours preparing for
- 37:30Speaker 27: this game because we knew Crawford was going to be good.
- 37:34Speaker 26: And what would you say your toughest matchup was this season?
- 37:37Speaker 26: What do you think went well during that matchup? What
- 37:39Speaker 26: did your team struggle with and what did you take
- 37:41Speaker 26: away from it?
- 37:43Speaker 27: Well, we lost five games, and so three of them
- 37:47Speaker 27: were to five and six A top cools, but you
- 37:51Speaker 27: know we had to battle to get to win our
- 37:53Speaker 27: own district. We have Jewet Leon who was the D
- 37:55Speaker 27: one two a winner of you know, state champion, and
- 37:58Speaker 27: they're in our district, and so that was in district
- 38:02Speaker 27: a very very tough match. And I think our girls,
- 38:06Speaker 27: you know, once they played that match and they got
- 38:08Speaker 27: through it, I think it gave us confidence that they
- 38:11Speaker 27: have a heavy hitter and they hit a lot out
- 38:13Speaker 27: of the middle. And once we could get by those
- 38:16Speaker 27: two matches, that gave them the confidence to think, you know, hey,
- 38:21Speaker 27: we can do it, because you know, if we can
- 38:23Speaker 27: stand the Leon's test, we can do it. So I
- 38:25Speaker 27: think we just gained a lot of confidence from those
- 38:28Speaker 27: And you know, in the five losses, you know, you
- 38:30Speaker 27: don't win state without a few losses most of the time,
- 38:32Speaker 27: and those are the most important matches a lot of
- 38:34Speaker 27: the time because you figure out where your weak spots
- 38:37Speaker 27: are and get in the gym and go to work
- 38:39Speaker 27: trying to fix them.
- 38:41Speaker 26: Right and speaking of weak spots, what do you think
- 38:42Speaker 26: was the hardest lesson this team had to learn this season?
- 38:45Speaker 26: And how do you think that'll shape how you coach
- 38:47Speaker 26: next year?
- 38:49Speaker 27: Well, you know, we played fifty three matches, I think,
- 38:53Speaker 27: and part of it is just our attention span about
- 38:56Speaker 27: you know, we started doing pretty well at the end
- 38:57Speaker 27: of the season, and you know, they're involved and so
- 39:00Speaker 27: many activities. We have banned people, We have cheerleaders, we
- 39:03Speaker 27: have robot people in robotics, and they're you know, they're
- 39:06Speaker 27: spread thin, and their attention span kind of kind of
- 39:09Speaker 27: you know, Wayne for a little while. But you know,
- 39:12Speaker 27: once once you get in district and start playoffs, you
- 39:14Speaker 27: get it back together. But we're gonna have to do
- 39:16Speaker 27: better working on that next year.
- 39:20Speaker 26: And do you think which players do you feel really
- 39:22Speaker 26: stepped up under pressure this season? Perhaps surprisingly so, is
- 39:25Speaker 26: there anyone that you'd like to shout out?
- 39:27Speaker 27: Well, you know, our outside hitter, Shane McCowan uh stepped
- 39:31Speaker 27: up big time in the playoffs, and with Shiner and Crawford,
- 39:34Speaker 27: with Kills, our libero and our setter. I was so
- 39:38Speaker 27: proud of them the way they played in the playoffs
- 39:41Speaker 27: and at the state tournament, they really stepped up. And
- 39:43Speaker 27: then Shelby McCowan sophomore, uh out she's a right side hitter,
- 39:49Speaker 27: and Cammy holl our other outside hitter, really came up
- 39:51Speaker 27: big in Garland and so I was really proud of
- 39:54Speaker 27: proud of them. A junior and a sophomore.
- 39:58Speaker 26: What are some things as far as strategy on the
- 40:01Speaker 26: court and the ways that you think your team can improve.
- 40:05Speaker 26: What are some things you want to improve for next season?
- 40:08Speaker 26: Even with the state championship under your belt. Where do
- 40:10Speaker 26: you see room for growth in this offseason?
- 40:14Speaker 27: Just consistency from the service line, for sure. We spent
- 40:19Speaker 27: the year missing way too many serves in a lot
- 40:21Speaker 27: of matches, and we've got to go to work fixing that.
- 40:25Speaker 27: Our service option we started off kind of iffy and
- 40:27Speaker 27: then it got better all year, So I was really
- 40:28Speaker 27: proud of that, But I would have to say our
- 40:31Speaker 27: patients in a match and not expecting, you know, to
- 40:33Speaker 27: win points the first swing out of the gate and
- 40:36Speaker 27: are serving. We've got to work on everybody that's returning.
- 40:39Speaker 27: We've got to get to the service line and be
- 40:42Speaker 27: more consistent.
- 40:44Speaker 26: Right, which players are graduating this year that are going
- 40:47Speaker 26: to leave big shoes to fill and who are you
- 40:49Speaker 26: expecting to step up and fill those shoes next year?
- 40:52Speaker 27: Well, we have four seniors, so we're graduating a big
- 40:55Speaker 27: portion of our team. We have outside hitter Shani McCowan
- 40:59Speaker 27: and our set Riley Goodney, our libero Ava Bassett and
- 41:03Speaker 27: not one of our servers, Colin Thomas. And they're gonna
- 41:07Speaker 27: leave big shoes to fill, and we're gonna kind of
- 41:09Speaker 27: rearrange the players. We have to feel some of those spots.
- 41:12Speaker 27: And then I haven't decided to yet exactly who we're
- 41:16Speaker 27: going to pick to fill those spots. But I feel
- 41:17Speaker 27: confident that some of the we had ten players on
- 41:20Speaker 27: the team, and I feel confident that we can uh
- 41:22Speaker 27: some of those players can pick up new positions and
- 41:25Speaker 27: feel some of those spots.
- 41:27Speaker 5: Absolutely.
- 41:27Speaker 26: And last question for you here, coach, how to use
- 41:30Speaker 26: a coach measure growth and success for your team both
- 41:34Speaker 26: on and off the court, besides just ones and losses.
- 41:37Speaker 27: Well, they're there. You know, I start, I'm lucky, I
- 41:40Speaker 27: start with some great kids. When I get them, they're
- 41:42Speaker 27: they're just very good kids. And just we measure success
- 41:48Speaker 27: mainly in consistency and you know how they work together
- 41:53Speaker 27: as a team, and it's just personal improvement. You know,
- 41:56Speaker 27: we may not win every every game, but how did
- 41:59Speaker 27: each person improve?
- 42:03Speaker 3: Very well?
- 42:03Speaker 26: Put coach, thank you so much for your time.
- 42:06Speaker 27: Yes sir, thank you.
- 42:07Speaker 3: Yes man.

- 47:37Speaker 22: In this game as a young freshman back then, where
- 47:41Speaker 22: are you taking away from.
- 47:42Speaker 5: That to help you out?
- 47:45Speaker 35: I mean, really just having fun with it all, you know,
- 47:47Speaker 35: it's it's it's obviously fun making a c championship. I'm
- 47:50Speaker 35: just going out there with my teammates having fun. I mean,
- 47:52Speaker 35: I know, I'm like one of the only ones that's
- 47:54Speaker 35: that's here Alabama now that had played in there. So
- 47:57Speaker 35: that's definitely special, especially actually one of the only ones
- 48:00Speaker 35: that that's wanted here. I mean just just from being
- 48:05Speaker 35: a younger, I've I've learned a lot, We've all learned
- 48:07Speaker 35: a lot, and I feel like we have a great
- 48:09Speaker 35: team coming in and yeah, feel confident.
- 48:11Speaker 22: If I remember correctly that Washington on your take backs
- 48:14Speaker 22: that year, that was probably one of your Yeah, yeah,
- 48:17Speaker 22: for sure.
- 48:18Speaker 3: It's what what was key your success there?
- 48:20Speaker 36: And what do you want to kind of bring.
- 48:21Speaker 3: Up really just I mean, you're a young guy.
- 48:24Speaker 35: You you gotta you gotta have gain confidence through through
- 48:27Speaker 35: your play.
- 48:28Speaker 3: So I feel like that's what that's what it was.
- 48:30Speaker 35: I mean, towards the end of the year, everybody's a
- 48:32Speaker 35: different player from from game one to you know, game eleven, twelve,
- 48:35Speaker 35: and thirteen. So I feel like that's really just what
- 48:38Speaker 35: happened when I when I was a first when.
- 48:41Speaker 16: You watched Georgia tat now versus when you face them
- 48:44Speaker 16: earlier this season, does.
- 48:45Speaker 29: Anything stand out?
- 48:47Speaker 3: I mean, just just the rushers. I I see that.
- 48:49Speaker 35: You know, they're they're their moves are a little different,
- 48:51Speaker 35: you know, they're they're definitely working on that and they're
- 48:54Speaker 35: they're they're really good.
- 48:56Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 48:56Speaker 35: They as I said, you get better from you know,
- 48:59Speaker 35: we played in week four and it's is week thirteen
- 49:02Speaker 35: or fourteen, Like everybody's gonna be different players, so I
- 49:05Speaker 35: know they're gonna come out starting not and there was
- 49:06Speaker 35: really good defense.
- 49:07Speaker 5: So do you feel like the.
- 49:08Speaker 18: Offensive lineus sort of found something in terms with the running.
- 49:11Speaker 8: Game in the front?
- 49:12Speaker 35: I feel like we have not still still haven't played
- 49:16Speaker 35: a full game, honestly, Uh, you know, kind of kind
- 49:19Speaker 35: of just finding your feet, And I feel I feel
- 49:22Speaker 35: like that's what it is. I mean, like I said,
- 49:25Speaker 35: it all comes through confidence, and it comes through the
- 49:27Speaker 35: preparation throughout the week.
- 49:28Speaker 3: So I feel like we've been focusing on that.
- 49:30Speaker 35: We've we've been implementing different drills to go out there
- 49:34Speaker 35: and and and run harder, run off the ball, run fast.
- 49:37Speaker 7: So yeah, you consistently have the same guy next to
- 49:41Speaker 7: you in this bass GT.
- 49:42Speaker 3: Does that did that help you in terms of the
- 49:44Speaker 3: communication piece of it.
- 49:46Speaker 35: I feel I feel like it did, especially with it
- 49:49Speaker 35: being a loud environment. I feel like that was that
- 49:52Speaker 35: was that was the biggest emphasis on me. I gotta
- 49:55Speaker 35: I gotta talk to Cam you know what I'm saying
- 49:57Speaker 35: for for everything to be okay.
- 49:58Speaker 3: So I feel like that that that was a good thing.
- 50:01Speaker 35: Like like like you can go back to my first
- 50:03Speaker 35: and second year talking the book like we you just
- 50:06Speaker 35: have to build that that conversation and build that camaraderie
- 50:09Speaker 35: throughout that.
- 50:10Speaker 3: So I feel like that was it was a a
- 50:13Speaker 3: good thing to go through. You see Tie taking all
- 50:15Speaker 3: those hits and you just keep getting back back. Like
- 50:17Speaker 3: what do you guys think about.
- 50:18Speaker 35: That resiliency that? I mean, that's all it is. He's
- 50:21Speaker 35: that That's all he is. That's all he is. I mean,
- 50:24Speaker 35: he's gonna get up. It doesn't matter how hard you
- 50:26Speaker 35: hit him, doesn't matter if you hit him in the
- 50:27Speaker 35: chin and the elbow, he gonna get up.
- 50:29Speaker 3: I promise you that. So I mean, just resilient. Speaking
- 50:33Speaker 3: of hits for that blocker kids pre President in that game,
- 50:38Speaker 3: what would you guys think of what he did that?
- 50:40Speaker 35: He's He's just been doing a really, really great job
- 50:42Speaker 35: of just hustling to the ball and and and really
- 50:44Speaker 35: finishing blocks and just being being an aggressor that he
- 50:47Speaker 35: needs to because he's he's an athletic free like that's
- 50:51Speaker 35: that's that's what we're expecting him to do, and that's
- 50:53Speaker 35: what we're respected of of everybody throughout the office line.
- 50:57Speaker 5: So how you guys approaching the kind of the state
- 51:00Speaker 5: this game?
- 51:00Speaker 3: You know are about?
- 51:01Speaker 14: The playoff?
- 51:02Speaker 13: Is it?
- 51:02Speaker 8: Is it an elimination game in your mind?
- 51:04Speaker 35: Or are you not at all? I mean playoff playoffs
- 51:06Speaker 35: are like out of the picture right now. It's it's you.
- 51:08Speaker 35: You got wanna know you this week and and I
- 51:12Speaker 35: mean really just not letting it, letting it up to
- 51:15Speaker 35: the committee's hands, you know what I'm saying. We gotta
- 51:17Speaker 35: take care of business and it'll it'll all come through
- 51:19Speaker 35: at the end of the day. But playoffs are that's
- 51:22Speaker 35: that's how that's the side out.
- 51:23Speaker 3: Of mind right now. We're folkus on Georgia.
- 51:25Speaker 20: So put a good, big game, the community does well
- 51:29Speaker 20: and then you know, be a big game.
- 51:31Speaker 3: As I mean, it's you.
- 51:35Speaker 35: You You ain't the Alabama head coach for no reason,
- 51:37Speaker 35: you know what I'm saying, Like this it's it's his job.
- 51:40Speaker 35: It's our job to go out there and take care
- 51:42Speaker 35: of business. And that's really all it is at the
- 51:43Speaker 35: end of the day. I mean, it doesn't matter. Yeah,
- 51:45Speaker 35: this is a big game, but every game is a
- 51:47Speaker 35: big game cause it's the next one that we got.
- 51:49Speaker 3: So that's what it is. What do you tells your
- 51:52Speaker 3: teammates about what to expect this SEC.
- 51:54Speaker 5: Chams your game.
- 51:56Speaker 35: Obviously we know that, you know, we beat Georgia the
- 51:58Speaker 35: first time, so where they're gonna, I'm out with a
- 52:00Speaker 35: different intensity, especially for the SEC Championship like this, that's
- 52:06Speaker 35: that's a crazy game to play in. So really just
- 52:09Speaker 35: they're they're gonna come out hot, they're gonna you know,
- 52:11Speaker 35: fire off the ball, physical. We already know that they've
- 52:15Speaker 35: got better at at some things that that they weren't
- 52:19Speaker 35: too good at, like on on week four, because like
- 52:21Speaker 35: I said, everybody's a different player and we we're different
- 52:24Speaker 35: players too.
- 52:25Speaker 5: About the games.
- 52:30Speaker 35: Really just the electricity honestly, and in the stadium really
- 52:34Speaker 35: just having fun taking it at all in I mean,
- 52:36Speaker 35: I was I was eighteen years old.
- 52:37Speaker 3: So it's like, Wow, I'm in.
- 52:39Speaker 35: A I'm in the biggest stadium that I've that I've
- 52:41Speaker 35: ever seen before. So that's really what I was what
- 52:43Speaker 35: I was thinking. But you really can't let the let
- 52:46Speaker 35: the moment too be too big for you.
- 52:48Speaker 8: You're in front of him on the field.
- 52:50Speaker 7: But what the like blocker for.
- 52:50Speaker 5: A year and how much of them they can be.
- 52:54Speaker 35: I mean, he's a young guy. He he focuses and
- 52:57Speaker 35: pays attention and the meetings. He knows what he's doing.
- 52:59Speaker 35: He's stuff in the playbook. So we see, we see
- 53:02Speaker 35: how hard he's working, and we see how hard he's
- 53:03Speaker 35: working out here on the field. Honestly, So I mean,
- 53:05Speaker 35: that's that's just what I see. You know, I don't
- 53:07Speaker 35: obviously I'm not too focused on where the running back
- 53:11Speaker 35: is that after playing work focus on my block.
- 53:13Speaker 3: But if if you see him going, you know, you
- 53:16Speaker 3: know he's out there working, you maybe give advice and
- 53:18Speaker 3: got some Mike workers in him.
- 53:19Speaker 35: As with the experience this for the first time, ye
- 53:23Speaker 35: I mean not, I mean not too much. You know,
- 53:25Speaker 35: you don't want to like get in their head and
- 53:26Speaker 35: and make it bigger than it is. Honestly, like they
- 53:30Speaker 35: just got to go out there and play. They know
- 53:32Speaker 35: what they have to do. I mean, they've like I
- 53:33Speaker 35: said it it comes back to your preparation and you
- 53:36Speaker 35: also building that experience. I mean, Mike's been playing, you know,
- 53:39Speaker 35: all season, so he knows what he needs to do.
- 53:41Speaker 14: What does that balance look like those you know, realizing
- 53:44Speaker 14: that this were also kind of you know, approaching.
- 53:47Speaker 11: Like any other game.
- 53:50Speaker 3: I mean you say, again, so what does it.
- 53:54Speaker 16: Look like in terms of like internally like to balance
- 53:57Speaker 16: and say, hey, this game means a lot.
- 53:59Speaker 3: There's a lot.
- 54:00Speaker 35: Yeah, yeah, I mean that's it's like it's every week.
- 54:04Speaker 35: It doesn't matter for playing ULM Eastern Illinois or George
- 54:07Speaker 35: or Tennessee. Like you have to treat that as as
- 54:10Speaker 35: as the same game. Yes it's STEC Championship. Yes you
- 54:13Speaker 35: want to win that and go to the playoffs and
- 54:14Speaker 35: and do all that, but you have to focus on
- 54:16Speaker 35: the now, focus on the want to know. So I
- 54:18Speaker 35: feel like we we would do a really great job
- 54:20Speaker 35: at that, not not looking too far ahead and just
- 54:22Speaker 35: really just focusing on like it's Tuesday. He focused on Tuesday,
- 54:25Speaker 35: and then when it comes to Wednesday, focused on Wednesday,
- 54:27Speaker 35: and when Saturday comes to focus on Saturday.
- 54:29Speaker 3: So pretty much haven't grab on the sideline he brings it.
- 54:33Speaker 3: He brings the intensity.
- 54:34Speaker 35: Like we've we've kind of implemented a new auto system
- 54:39Speaker 35: on on on the sideline just to just to have
- 54:41Speaker 35: everybody in sync. I feel like that's that's been working
- 54:44Speaker 35: very well. But just to see him, just to see
- 54:48Speaker 35: what's going through his mind and have have him as
- 54:51Speaker 35: a coach. You know, he he's one out there calling
- 54:53Speaker 35: on the plays and he he's up there you know,
- 54:55Speaker 35: bird's eye view, but having him down there on the
- 54:57Speaker 35: field and actually having him talk to me and let
- 55:01Speaker 35: me know what I need to do. I feel like
- 55:03Speaker 35: that's that's definitely a blessing for certain. What's the new
- 55:05Speaker 35: when you say.
- 55:05Speaker 3: New huddle system, sort of describe what that means.
- 55:08Speaker 35: So we got like the we're all on the rectangle,
- 55:12Speaker 35: you got the five office of LINEA, you got coach
- 55:14Speaker 35: cap standing in front of us, you got the tight
- 55:16Speaker 35: ends over here, wide receivers and qbs, and then all
- 55:18Speaker 35: the coaches are in the middle.
- 55:19Speaker 3: So it's like this is organized. I mean, that's that's
- 55:22Speaker 3: all it is.
- 55:23Speaker 1: That's Kaden Proctor, he plays right beside Cam Dwbury. The
- 55:27Speaker 1: transfer from Texas A and m Why don't you treat
- 55:32Speaker 1: yourself this holiday season and quit putting off the upgrades
- 55:38Speaker 1: in your house to your kitchen, your bathroom, building a
- 55:41Speaker 1: new room on the side, whatever it is, we'll make

- 55:59Speaker 1: to the showroom and Brian at West Carson and Finfeather,
- 56:03Speaker 1: you can do that. See some examples. They'll help you out.
- 56:07Speaker 1: They helped us out in terms of that stuff. That's
- 56:11Speaker 1: not our biggest strength is putting all coordinating everything, but
- 56:16Speaker 1: Joe and his staff did when we rebuilt the bathroom.
- 56:19Speaker 1: And you know in an existing home, nothing is going
- 56:22Speaker 1: to increase value like kitchen and baths. So for over
- 56:28Speaker 1: twenty five years, Joe and his staff have been taking
- 56:33Speaker 1: care of this.
- 56:34Speaker 5: They are.
- 56:37Speaker 1: They're the company of record in Brian in College Station,
