Transcript
- 0:00Hello and welcome to episode 90 of Draft Offsides.
- 0:03I'm with Tico and Enzo. My name is Keith.
- 0:05The season is officially over. Congratulations to all the
- 0:08Champions out there. Congratulations to Tico on his
- 0:11first place in one of our leagues.
- 0:13Congratulations to Enzo in a second place in one of our
- 0:15leagues. Congratulations to me on 3rd
- 0:18place in both of our leagues. We got some winners.
- 0:20We got people that placed across the board.
- 0:23We're happy. OK, so the season's over.
- 0:26We're gonna just maybe spent a few minutes recapping some of
- 0:29the games and then it's just kind of talking about the
- 0:32future, I guess, talking about and then maybe talking about
- 0:35some of like, who are the top performers?
- 0:37What does that mean for the future and all those things?
- 0:40So I think the the thing I'm most interested and excited
- 0:42about is some of the new guys coming in.
- 0:45And so that begs the question, Florian words, if he comes into
- 0:49the league, where is he going in drafts?
- 0:51I don't know because he was so good in Bundesliga.
- 0:54Who's who's come from Bundesliga to the league and like Holland,
- 0:58Holland, Holland? Yeah, but yeah, a lot of people,
- 1:01a lot of players have come and not done well.
- 1:03Kyle Havarts. Especially players from
- 1:05Mauritian Dortmund mostly soundtrack.
- 1:08Or or like Leverkusen. How's it natural?
- 1:11Havarts. No, I said.
- 1:14Sancho. Sanchez struggled for at
- 1:16Dortmund like Havarts and and then and then Leipzig was and
- 1:21then for in Kuku there's been, I mean, I think it's been across
- 1:23the league everyone, a lot of German players come and struggle
- 1:25here, a lot of. Not generally, not necessarily.
- 1:28Generally, yes. Kagawa Makitaryan didn't didn't
- 1:31capture the same form but but. Makitaryan is a different story
- 1:33because he's it's clear he clearly wasn't the issue.
- 1:35Yeah, well, you look at how good he's doing now for Inter.
- 1:38It's just he went to Man U with Marino, which you know, was a
- 1:40defect. It just wasn't.
- 1:41It just wasn't. But but, you know, just looking
- 1:44at where's his number the last two years, Ander Chabi, Alonzo,
- 1:4832 games, eleven goals. 31 games, ten goals.
- 1:52So OK. How many assists are?
- 1:54Let me pull that up. There's a lot going on.
- 1:56There's like Villa not making Champions League has changed it
- 1:59up, like they're not going to keep all the players.
- 2:01Well, let's say focus on this. Thing real quick 12 assists and
- 2:0411 assists and each year each year he has three yellows each
- 2:09year so Oh yeah, I mean it's a negative point.
- 2:11So he's not really going to be in trouble.
- 2:13So and he's been playing 3132 matches so I think words is
- 2:16going to have value. Obviously we're thinking Nunez
- 2:19is going to be out of the squad, right?
- 2:21Darwin Nunez is probably going to be gone.
- 2:23I saw today, I don't know if you guys saw Harvey Elliott, it's
- 2:25going to be gone as well. So you would think he's going to
- 2:28obviously play an attacking role.
- 2:30I think the goals and assists will be there.
- 2:31I I think he would be close to double double in the first year.
- 2:35So I would say end of second round, an early 3rd.
- 2:39It's just, I mean with those numbers, people who scored
- 2:42double, double S, they're averaging what, like 10 plus
- 2:45points per game 12/13? I think end of first.
- 2:48Oh, you're also, you're even higher on that.
- 2:49Yeah. So to me, I love the Liverpool
- 2:52offense. Obviously they put in a lot of
- 2:53goals. The it's going to matter who's
- 2:56going to be playing their number 9.
- 2:57And I'm more I'm hesitant to take a player on the first year,
- 3:02then let's say if there's someone who's a proven
- 3:04commodity. That totally makes sense.
- 3:07I totally understand it. I think.
- 3:08I think for me it's when you look at like, you look at the
- 3:12the players, you know, it's like obviously the first six are
- 3:15pretty, you know, whatever order you want to put in, Saka, Salaf,
- 3:18Bruno, Palmer, Holland, Isaac. After that, it's like you're
- 3:23getting into some weird territory.
- 3:24You're getting to like Embuemo Cunya.
- 3:28All the way you could go 100 point difference keep.
- 3:30All the way you could go to Man United, you know what I mean?
- 3:32Like and then and then it's like, you know, Jared Bowen, who
- 3:35I like but is not the sexiest pick.
- 3:38Like, would you, would you really fault anyone for going
- 3:40Florian Warts in the sevens? You don't see that as.
- 3:42A risk. Oh, I think it's a huge risk,
- 3:44but I think there's a lot of upside there with this
- 3:47deliverable team that has such good structure, the coaching
- 3:49system that everything is so set in place as I and I'm not saying
- 3:54I'm picking for where it's 7 right now.
- 3:56I think we have said a lot of time, but I'm just saying that I
- 3:58think there's an argument to be made that he's like a a late to
- 4:01middle, middle late 1st rounder. It's.
- 4:03Let's the world doesn't know this, but keeps very high on
- 4:06worth as a player. You love him as a player, right?
- 4:08I'm not even saying I'm so, so high on him.
- 4:11I'm just looking at the pedigree.
- 4:12I'm looking at what he's done. I'm looking at the team.
- 4:14He's coming. And do you like, I wouldn't be
- 4:15the time. I mean, if he came to Chelsea, I
- 4:16wouldn't be the time if he was that Man United.
- 4:18I think it's the fact that he's going to Liverpool where they
- 4:21tend to, they tend to make players better, where a lot of
- 4:24these, a lot of other clubs in the Premier League don't make
- 4:27players. Better.
- 4:28One thing you mentioned Tottenham in those.
- 4:31That that because they don't make players better.
- 4:33Let me let me give you a couple players and let's see where you
- 4:36go from there. Also, just before I name this,
- 4:38it also matters what what is at least classified as a forward or
- 4:41a defender. I'm sorry, Miss Fielder.
- 4:42Miss Fielder. I think it'll.
- 4:43Be a forward. I think it'll have to.
- 4:45I mean. Yeah, I mean as a midfielder,
- 4:47so. So would you rather take Gordon
- 4:49or Warts? I think I take Gordon.
- 4:53I mean warts. I mean, I think I take words.
- 4:54As they are warts, yeah. I think because of the team, I
- 5:01think I would take words. Well, what if Eze goes the
- 5:03freaking man? See.
- 5:05Then there's questions about if he if he's going to play the
- 5:07game in every minute like he does it at sit at Crystal
- 5:10Palace. I think Eze is pretty tight for
- 5:13me. You know, that's a tough one.
- 5:16Man City, I'm probably going to try to stay away from Man City
- 5:19just because I don't want to go through that roller coaster.
- 5:21Unless you have the players that are going to play like a
- 5:24Holland, right? All of us had a mad City player.
- 5:27So even if as it goes there, you look at the competition there,
- 5:30Savio, Marmouche, Doku, Fordon, what form is he going to be in?
- 5:33And they're probably going to bring in more players.
- 5:36So that's just the team that's going to be.
- 5:39It's not fun. It's maybe a mass waking up at
- 5:404:00 to see if Doku's playing over Savio.
- 5:43Not fun, man. No, it's not fun.
- 5:44Yeah, no trust. As someone who, like you, had
- 5:46yeah Doku in one league, I had Savio in another.
- 5:48League I had doku in savio. In another league, yeah.
- 5:50Two leagues, yeah. And you guys?
- 5:51In Savio, so it's not fun. So I think the words it's going
- 5:56to be 1 who's I wouldn't be surprised if people reach on
- 5:59him. I actually expect people to
- 6:00reach on him I. Think it will and that that's
- 6:02the thing T goes. I'm not I'm not saying it's not
- 6:04a reach. Like I agree that it's probably
- 6:05a bit of a reach, but I think that that's where he's going to
- 6:07end up going in drafts. Not necessarily that he's going
- 6:11to be worth it there because I think there's a lot of
- 6:12uncertainty. But yeah, just an interesting,
- 6:14interesting thing to think about, especially, you know, a
- 6:17lot of time between now and then.
- 6:18Just stick on low porn. Think about Frank Pong.
- 6:20I was thinking about this a lot too, and I think for a lot of
- 6:23the same reasons about just adjusting to a new league and
- 6:27and those sets of things. I think it's tricky and I don't
- 6:30think, I think it's probably gonna be third, late second,
- 6:35third, maybe. This is like because it's
- 6:37attacking prowess and how. Yes, I mean that that's really
- 6:42big a part of it. I think part of it too is that
- 6:44like I think I'd rather there's a few defenders I'd rather take
- 6:46ahead of him, even though he I think he's going to be really
- 6:49promising. And I think it's it's like, you
- 6:50know, obviously I think like Munez and Robinson probably will
- 6:53go ahead of him. But I think that the other
- 6:55concern for me is that Trent wasn't as high up the pitch this
- 7:00year and he saw and he saw doesn't have his wingbacks kind
- 7:03of fly as much as clock, did they?
- 7:06They're not getting as high up the field.
- 7:09And that might change with frame pong.
- 7:10But I also think that when you look at frame pong, he's much
- 7:12more of a dribbler. He's not as much of A creator as
- 7:16Trent was. Trent was, you know, the way he
- 7:17would his passing. And like, they're they're two
- 7:19very different profiles. So I don't know.
- 7:22I just think that I don't know. I'm not frame pong gets me a
- 7:25little nervous, OK? Kirk has left back for Liverpool
- 7:29if he goes. You feel the same thing I I'm
- 7:33thinking 4th, 5th, 6th. No, but I mean you think the
- 7:36same thing, that you won't go up as high like you did for for
- 7:38Bournemouth because? I mean, I think he might, yeah.
- 7:44I don't know. I mean, because if you're
- 7:45really. Going for both those wing backs,
- 7:47like they're wing backs. They're not.
- 7:48They're not flying left. They're going to be flying up
- 7:50and down those wings. Yeah, I mean, it's a good point.
- 7:53But yeah, I mean, just just having the opportunity to get
- 7:58high up the field is going to be it's going to be there.
- 8:00I mean, Liverpool is also like they're going to get up there.
- 8:03I mean, look at that. Bradley's Bradley got an assist
- 8:05in the second last game of the season where he was at the
- 8:06touchline. So they still get there.
- 8:08I'm just saying that when under clock, when is Robertson and
- 8:12Trent, they were, I mean they were like playing like wing
- 8:14backs and they weren't wing backs.
- 8:17They were, you know, so it is different.
- 8:20It is different. But they also, I mean, last year
- 8:24under club they gave up 41 goals.
- 8:25This year they gave up again. 41 goals with this.
- 8:29That is interesting. Yeah, Yeah, that's a good point.
- 8:32I thought that they would have had a better defensive record
- 8:34this year, but also, I mean. They they locked up the league
- 8:37early and I think the last. Two games they gave up like a
- 8:38few. I was going to say that.
- 8:39Yeah, yeah. All right, Next big sign.
- 8:41Where's the lap going? It's.
- 8:42Looking like Chelsea. Looking at Chelsea?
- 8:45I think United not getting Champions League hurt that
- 8:48opportunity for them. I don't know how I feel about it
- 8:51for Chelsea though, to be honest.
- 8:52I'd rather have like a little more of an established guy as
- 8:55opposed to having like Jackson in the lap.
- 8:57Just feels like that could be a comedy routine.
- 9:00You think so? I like them I think.
- 9:02You could, I mean, I like both of them.
- 9:03I'm just saying that like having two young guys.
- 9:05I I think I'd rather have like a like a little more of a senior
- 9:08striker, proven goal scorer in there.
- 9:10And then like a Jackson who's still, yeah, Jackson's only 23.
- 9:13He's still young, you know? Yeah.
- 9:15So. Yeah, well, the lapse, obviously
- 9:18I'll be coming off the bench, but if you're honest, he ain't
- 9:19gonna start if he goes there. Over at Jackson.
- 9:23Yeah, he won't start over Jackson.
- 9:24I think it'll be competitive. I think if Jackson, I think if
- 9:27Jackson has a few games where he doesn't score, I think the lap
- 9:30will be in. I think that's what Jackson
- 9:31lacked was having someone was like looking over his shoulder,
- 9:35you know, and having. There's a lot of things Jackson
- 9:37likes. I go today in the final.
- 9:39We didn't even talk about the fact that Chelsea won the final
- 9:41today. 412 went down one new early, a little bit shaky and
- 9:45then boom the goals started flooding in, especially late it.
- 9:49Was a good day. It was a good, good day.
- 9:50Happy for the London team. Yeah, big, big year for all the
- 9:54all the top London teams. Yeah, Arsenal beat Real Madrid.
- 9:57That's their trophy. But they did still have a better
- 10:00season than us, so. They I don't, I don't think you
- 10:02can say that. I'm being sarcastic.
- 10:07OK, is that what that all the all our SO fans are arguing that
- 10:10right? It's funny because I can say
- 10:12this right now when Tottenham was coming top four year after
- 10:14year and not win anything and also kept saying we haven't won
- 10:17anything. Yeah, that shit season and now
- 10:19we've con 17, which is, don't get wrong, fucking horrible, but
- 10:22we won a cup. Now the European Cup doesn't
- 10:24mean shit so. That's of course, I mean, but
- 10:26that's how just fans are going to be like I, I think it's just
- 10:29funny because Arsenal, like Arsenal fans have been so kind
- 10:32of like harshing on Tottenham for so long and then to have it
- 10:35flipped, you just got to be able to take another chin.
- 10:37Sergey put in the chat that it doesn't matter.
- 10:39Yeah, it's, I mean, it's like the the denial is a little
- 10:42annoying. Just take it on the chain.
- 10:43Like even you've been clowning on Tottenham fans for years.
- 10:45You got to be able to take it on the chain when you.
- 10:47Pretty fun. Even when Gary Henry came out
- 10:50and said Arsenal under. Is it time to start thinking
- 10:54about change well? Did he really?
- 10:57Yeah. He said it.
- 10:57He said it on a point, on a what's that?
- 10:59What was that? Something football with Gary,
- 11:03not Gary with Gary. Yeah.
- 11:05Gary Neville and Roy King. Was it?
- 11:07Was it on that show? I just thought I didn't see.
- 11:10What? I mean, So what, 7 years?
- 11:11He got a trophy in his first year and hasn't gotten one
- 11:13since. Yeah, I mean not, but.
- 11:15They finished, they finished second three years in a row,
- 11:18which shows they're they're compared.
- 11:19I mean, it's a, it's obviously a great team.
- 11:21Yeah, they just, they need a fucking striker and saying it
- 11:25for two years for sure. I think they're one of only
- 11:28three teams that didn't have a player to score in double digit
- 11:31goals. That is true.
- 11:34Do you know who their high score was?
- 11:37Stock on nine goals. Carl Averts.
- 11:39Yeah. And it was 9, I think stock had
- 11:41like 8 or 7. All right, so sorry, that was a
- 11:44few little fun questions at the beginning.
- 11:46Let's just talk about game week 38 real quick.
- 11:48There's not. I mean, obviously we're we're
- 11:50past it now and we don't need to like relive the past.
- 11:53I think there's some big, big moments.
- 11:55And those moments were mostly for the top 4 finishes.
- 11:57So it was the Chelsea beating Forest.
- 12:00Man, you can still. Losing and still getting through
- 12:02that man, You game with Villa. There's really sad for Villa.
- 12:05You feel for him, right? You can't help but feel for him.
- 12:07It should have been VAR man VAR fucked he.
- 12:11Will the ref fucked it? Up Sorry the ref fucked it up.
- 12:13Didn't he give the? Chance.
- 12:15Yeah, because he blew his whistle before.
- 12:17You guys. Think it was a red?
- 12:19Oh, no, no, no. No, that was a red talking
- 12:21about. The goal, The goal for the
- 12:22Rogers. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:23Really, really sad. But now we're looking at, we're
- 12:26now we're looking at six teams in your in Europe or in.
- 12:30Champions League next year. Oh, in.
- 12:32Champions League next year. Yeah, six teams in Champions
- 12:34League next. Year and then what, 2IN Europa
- 12:36and then one in conference. Yeah.
- 12:38So that's a lot of teams that I can potentially have a lot of
- 12:40games. So I don't know.
- 12:42It'll be interesting. Will that affect your drafting?
- 12:45You know, whoa, like in the back of your mind, if you're choosing
- 12:48between a guy that has the European football and the guy
- 12:50who doesn't. So you really got to think about
- 12:52it. So I was thinking about Villa
- 12:53and how they didn't get Champions League.
- 12:55Are they going to still invest? I think they should still invest
- 12:57because I think they want to compete for top four, top five,
- 13:00wherever it might be next season.
- 13:02And do they keep one or the other or do they keep both of
- 13:05Rashford and Ascencio? I think it's a matter of it's
- 13:08not a matter of if they will, can they invest because of PSR
- 13:11and because of those things. I think that's that's going to
- 13:13be the bigger question. You know what the money
- 13:15differences between Champions League and Europa is there a big
- 13:18money difference? Champions League and Europa.
- 13:21Like the money you get from playing?
- 13:23Like insane is it? Insane amount.
- 13:26Insane amount, was it? So United got 5.5 million for
- 13:32runners up in Europa League, which is like pennies.
- 13:36Yeah, it's nothing. It's pennies.
- 13:38Yeah. So like this, the Club World Cup
- 13:40that's happening, you know, in, in a month, that purse like the
- 13:44first place gets like 50 million for that.
- 13:46Fuck, you know. That's going to be a huge deal
- 13:48like that. This Club World Cup.
- 13:50I think it's going to become a bigger thing because there's so
- 13:52much prize money involved. So I still don't like it.
- 13:55So I I like the idea that it's just too many games, right?
- 13:58We agree. This is off of Reddit, so
- 14:01competing in the group stage. Minimum earnings for Champions
- 14:04League, it's 8.6 million. Europa has 1.3.
- 14:08Yeah, yeah. And then obviously the more you
- 14:11play, the better it is. Like even like let's say the
- 14:13overall winner, it's one is 10.5 million, the other one is just 5
- 14:17million. And that's just the prize money
- 14:19you have to think about like sponsorships, like Chelsea
- 14:21having like holding off on getting in front of jersey
- 14:24sponsor children, Champions League.
- 14:25So then they can get. A be a revenue gate attendance
- 14:29you know. Yeah.
- 14:30So that's just. Yeah.
- 14:31So it ends up ballooning to but. Keith, to answer your question,
- 14:35it does make a difference for me, especially when let's look
- 14:38at this year for example, right, Arsenal played in the Champions
- 14:41League. Obviously they made a deep run
- 14:43towards the end of the year when they were no longer, they gave
- 14:45up on the Premier League. You didn't know who was.
- 14:47They were arresting a lot of their players.
- 14:49So it does factor in. But I think if there's a player
- 14:53that they're close to each other, I think I would probably
- 14:55go the one with that's not in the European, but at the same
- 14:58time, like you're not going to pass up on like someone who's an
- 15:00amazing player just because they're playing in Europe, yeah.
- 15:04Yeah. So it's more like a tiebreaker
- 15:06as opposed to something it's really going to stop you from.
- 15:08I think it's if I'm, if I'm 5050 between two players, that would
- 15:11be the yeah, tiebreaker. All right, well then, let's look
- 15:15at some of the top performers of the season.
- 15:18Muhammad Salah 734.25 points. Go home.
- 15:22That is insane. He was that's a what, 150 more
- 15:25than the next closest in Brandon with 581.75 that is.
- 15:30I mean he saw almost broke fantasy this.
- 15:32Year he tied Alan Shearer and was it Andy Cole's record for Co
- 15:36involvements? Do you guys think he kind of
- 15:39messed up because the last few games he wasn't swearing a lot?
- 15:41He could have broken that record.
- 15:43Well, from what you guys are, especially what you were saying,
- 15:46take away he wants to beat the wreck.
- 15:47He just couldn't do it because it just like I said, they they
- 15:50won the league and they just look like they just.
- 15:52He started all 38 Premier League games.
- 15:55Because in the last six games he only had two goals, no assists.
- 15:57I mean, even He's human is going to have a little bit of a
- 16:01downturn. Losala first place 734 points
- 16:05and then from attacker from forwards.
- 16:07Brian and Blenmo 581.75. Cunha 471.75, ESAC 464.25 and
- 16:14then Simenyo 432.5. Simenyo.
- 16:17That is the surprise. I mean, yeah, I think Bueno and
- 16:20Simenyo are the two I think. I mean, Bueno went when the 4th,
- 16:255th round, Simenyo went like in the eighth round.
- 16:28But like, yeah, where they're placing, that's phenomenal.
- 16:31Yep, you're so happy. But it'll be interesting because
- 16:33of these, of these five attackers, three of them might
- 16:36be moving clubs. Well, Kunya's already.
- 16:39He is over here man, you know. Yeah, so Kunya's probably, Yeah,
- 16:42I think it's all but officially confirmed.
- 16:44But is Sax not going on where they go Champions League
- 16:46football? They sax not going anywhere.
- 16:48Saul's not going anywhere, obviously.
- 16:49So Meno, there's rumors that he might go somewhere.
- 16:52Bueno. I mean, did you hear the rumors
- 16:54about United? Yeah.
- 16:55Could you? Could you, could you really see
- 16:57them getting Bueno and kunya? Yeah, I could.
- 17:01If they got rid of, you know, Rashford, Gonacho goes.
- 17:04They're going to need cover and if they do sell Bruno Fernandez
- 17:08to Saudi League, they're going to need them.
- 17:13OK, so here's my question then. If Emblem and Cuna both go
- 17:16United, are you, are we, are we really being serious about
- 17:21potentially drafting 4 United players in the 1st 15 picks?
- 17:25I don't know that to. Me feels crazy like let's let's
- 17:28draft 4 players from the 5th, 15th best team last year.
- 17:33Obviously new players, new thing, but it just feels like a
- 17:35crazy. But there are some teams who are
- 17:37not good teams, but they're players are fantasy studs.
- 17:40Yeah, that's true and I agree with that.
- 17:43Ameren had a terrible season this season, but he also only
- 17:45has one player in DOGU. That's the player he bought.
- 17:48So this will be two players he buys for his his tactics.
- 17:52Diallo, I think if he just plays every single game this year, I
- 17:55think Diallo is going to be up there in, you know, first and
- 17:57second round, whoever wants if you're a main I fan, so they
- 18:01could have a better team offensively.
- 18:03It's not the offense that I'm too worried about from these
- 18:07moves. If they make these moves, it's
- 18:08still going to be a defense. Their defenses was better.
- 18:10I think their defence got better as the season went on and as
- 18:13Emery made it. But it was they they were not.
- 18:15It was the offense that was the. Problem like Lindelof is going
- 18:18to be gone. He's out of contract.
- 18:20Ericsson's obviously going. To be gone.
- 18:21No, no, no. I'm just saying, though, that
- 18:23the the void he's going to have to fill with the players that
- 18:26he's losing, that they're not resigning and the players are
- 18:28going to sell. He has a big he's, he's going to
- 18:31have some money to spend. I don't know how much, but he
- 18:33ain't going to be as much as it would have been if he had
- 18:35Champions League. And they have a lot of
- 18:37defenders, they. Have a lot of defenders, yeah,
- 18:39but who? McGuire.
- 18:40Who wants him? They want him.
- 18:42They should keep McGuire. They should absolutely keep
- 18:45McGuire. Mazzaro the lead.
- 18:48That's what. Martinez is probably Martinez
- 18:53the lower. I mean, Luke Shah is still
- 18:54around. Yeah, I think it's for them.
- 18:57It's getting rid of all the Deadwood, like getting like if
- 18:59you're getting like Castamero on what, 350,000 a week for what he
- 19:04does, it's just not good enough. You know, he's not good enough
- 19:06for that, that for that money he's getting paid right now.
- 19:08And in this stage, his career, obviously he's a legend.
- 19:11You got called out for Brazil. Yeah, saw that.
- 19:14All right. Refocusing.
- 19:18Are we like worried about Holland at all?
- 19:20Just with the last few years he's been missing a few games
- 19:23this. He hasn't been as dominant since
- 19:24that very first year. He just hasn't been as dominant.
- 19:27He's also out for quite a bit, man, I know when even when he
- 19:31played, the only thing that I think was going to happen is
- 19:33Messi is going to bounce back. I don't think they they still
- 19:36came. What?
- 19:36They still came third. Oh no, they came 4th. 3rd.
- 19:39Third. Yeah, they still came third and
- 19:41this is seen as a shitty season season for him.
- 19:44Only three points behind Arsenal.
- 19:45So let's recap Holland's three years.
- 19:48This is his worst year. 20 Two goals, 3 assists.
- 19:51Play 31 games, Average 14 points a game.
- 19:54That's first round numbers. It's first round numbers.
- 19:56It's only first round numbers. So you're saying even in a bad
- 19:58year? It's just we got spoiled on this
- 20:01first year. It's simple as that.
- 20:02That is second year, perfectly honest.
- 20:04Yeah, 16 points out of 16, yeah. So I'm not worried about
- 20:07Holland, I'm not worried about CC has what money and lawyers so
- 20:11they can spend wherever the hell they want and they can build
- 20:13this team to what they want. Pep's going to do a lot of he's
- 20:16going to buy some players. I don't know who he's going to
- 20:18buy, but there's going to be a bunch of players he's going to
- 20:20buy to try to fill in the void, and some of them work and some
- 20:23of them won't. Well, Pep said that he doesn't
- 20:25want a team with like 20 something players.
- 20:27Yeah, which is OK. Bullshit.
- 20:30We'll see. I'm not worried about Holland.
- 20:31He'll still he'll be good next season.
- 20:33He's he's still top three. I mean, he was ranked 9th
- 20:36overall. Yeah, I told points.
- 20:39Yeah, but. OK, but I think here's my thing
- 20:41is that when you look at points per start, and so we're you
- 20:43know, we're we're which accounts for the fact that he had, you
- 20:47know, the matches and everything, like, you know, that
- 20:48he didn't play as many matches. There is Muhammad Ali scored
- 20:53more points per start than him. Bokao soccer scored more points.
- 20:56Cole Palmer, Cunha, KDB Ryan and Bembo Diallo, Bruno Fernandez.
- 21:01All right, so make sure who would you take over at Holland
- 21:04if you're drafting, because I would only take Sock over him.
- 21:07I wouldn't take Bruno over him. I wouldn't take Cunya over him,
- 21:10Mosala. I wouldn't take Cole Palm.
- 21:13I would I would take Mosala over him.
- 21:15OK, most Holland would you? I would.
- 21:17I would take Cole Palmer. I would take Cole.
- 21:18Palmer, You take Cole Palmer over Holland, Yeah.
- 21:21Is that your Chelsea bars or that you being serious?
- 21:23I think it's midfield. I think just Cole Palmer being
- 21:26in a position where he's going to create more goals and assists
- 21:28and just has more chances to score points that aren't goal
- 21:31dependent. So I think his floor to ceiling
- 21:33is going to be better, you know what I mean?
- 21:34Well, I'm looking at it and yeah, Cole Palmer had what, 564
- 21:38points? And then he had a down part of
- 21:40his back end of the season. So I I saw, I see it.
- 21:45But it's proven that forwards, for the most part, score more.
- 21:50Score more points. Yeah, that's that's fair.
- 21:52I mean, maybe, maybe not. Maybe if when push came to
- 21:54shove, I think it'd be hard not to.
- 21:55If Holland's sitting there, it'd be hard not to take.
- 21:58Him and also thinking about the fact that Cole Palmer who was
- 22:00drank third overall, he didn't play in the European in the
- 22:03conference look championship. And he didn't play those?
- 22:06Yeah. Yeah, in the group stage, the
- 22:08first early on in the knockout stages, they were playing their
- 22:10BC squad, whereas Holland was playing Europe as well.
- 22:13Make sure you call. Palmer is obviously going to be
- 22:15playing in the European matches as well.
- 22:17And because he with their his body fatigue, whatever happened,
- 22:21he didn't hold off throughout the year.
- 22:22Holland is more better suited to hold on throughout the year
- 22:25because of just the experience of him doing it for 3-4 years.
- 22:28Yeah, but Holland's always had a little bit of injury issues.
- 22:30That was a big issue at Dortmund and then obviously his first
- 22:33year at City he was healthy the whole time.
- 22:35But since then we've seen little niggles, so it makes me a little
- 22:38nervous. Well, this third season was
- 22:39probably the biggest one. The second season it was that
- 22:41was little niggles. This season it was a big chunk
- 22:43it. Was a big, big chunk, Yeah.
- 22:46OK. Are there any?
- 22:47OK, I guess the last question I have for forwards before we move
- 22:50on to midfielders is Simenyo. Where do you see him going?
- 22:54Just obviously right now I was subject to change.
- 22:55I'll hold you to it. But is that is he, you know,
- 22:58scored fifth overall for forwards and points.
- 23:02Is that, you know, then what was he?
- 23:03And then overall from scoring, from a scoring standpoint, he
- 23:05was, what, top 10, ninth overall?
- 23:08Where do you see him? Is that is that second round?
- 23:10I mean, the second round's getting pretty crowded.
- 23:12Second round's getting really crowded, but it all depends on
- 23:15where he goes. We've seen it before where team
- 23:17players from like. Mid table stays.
- 23:19Let's say he stays in. One if he stays, we think.
- 23:22In Iowa stays. Like late second because like he
- 23:27was, he had that kind of a season.
- 23:28The, the fear is that it's, it's, I mean, he was, he had a
- 23:31good last season. He had a pretty good last season
- 23:33too. I think he he was kind of
- 23:35disrespected last year where he was going.
- 23:36To what was the difference this season compared to the season
- 23:38before? So I haven't pulled up.
- 23:40So the year before he averaged 8.9 for 294 points, but he only
- 23:46started 25 out of the 33 games. But the interesting thing to me
- 23:50about Simeno is last year he scored eight goals and three
- 23:53assists. This year he scored eleven goals
- 23:55and five assists. So the contribution went up by 5
- 23:58points, but he scored a lot more points.
- 24:00So he's not really goal or assist dependent.
- 24:03It's just can. He.
- 24:04Can you repeat that season? So to me it's I wouldn't take
- 24:08him in the first round to me. He's the first in the second
- 24:10round, you wouldn't take him in. The second, no, he's to me, he's
- 24:13the third round player. Yeah, OK, fair enough.
- 24:16Moving on, let's talk midfielders #1 build fielder
- 24:20overall Cole Palmer with 564.25 points.
- 24:25I think it's, we talk about it a lot, but it's easy to forget
- 24:28that how good of the first half of the season was for him.
- 24:31Yeah, like how bad his second-half was.
- 24:33And the fact that he still finished first is pretty
- 24:35impressive. I think he had nineteen goal
- 24:37contributions by the end of the summer, goals and assists, and
- 24:40then he had six from this from January on.
- 24:43Yeah, it's rough. That's rough.
- 24:45Still a good season though. Still a good season of course #2
- 24:48Bruno Fernandez five O 3.5 #3 Jared Bowen 438.75.
- 24:55That's pretty big. So Cole and Bruno and then it's
- 24:58a pretty big drop off to Jared Bowen.
- 25:00That's like a 70 point drop off, 75 point drop off between second
- 25:05and third. Number four Alex, it will be
- 25:07400.5. I got another little bit of a
- 25:10drop off, almost a 40 point drop off and then 5 as a 399.
- 25:15So to me, what's interesting about the difference between
- 25:17forwards and midfielders, when you look at the forwards top
- 25:20three total points and points per game, they're the same
- 25:22players. But when we look at midfielders,
- 25:25it's only top 2. And then you look at Saka, who
- 25:27came in 13 points per game, but obviously he was injured.
- 25:31Diallo points per game, he averaged higher and then Bowen
- 25:34was fifth. So I think if everyone healthy,
- 25:37the top five is going to look a lot different.
- 25:40And to me, I think we talked about if Man U gets Konya and
- 25:46and one more, I don't know if Bruno's value goes up or goes
- 25:48down to me, yeah. I've been thinking about this a
- 25:51lot because then it's like if they get both of those guys,
- 25:54it's and it might already be guaranteed.
- 25:56Like we don't know because we've been seeing it, but Bruno's been
- 25:58playing in the 6th a lot more and it's it's not the worst
- 26:01thing ever. Like he can be that kind of like
- 26:02that quarterback, you know that like deep, deep blind playmaker,
- 26:06but he's just not as close to goal.
- 26:07So he's just not going to get as many goals, goal assist
- 26:10opportunities when he's not as close to goal, you know, he's
- 26:13not crashing the box, he's not making those, he's not making as
- 26:16many late runs because he has different responsibilities in
- 26:18the team. Can we kind of know if that's
- 26:20going to be his role next season?
- 26:22I know he played a lot of in the six because he I don't feel he
- 26:24really had a choice. Yeah, but but it all depends on
- 26:27who comes in. But Bruno's a start, I don't
- 26:29think where it doesn't matter where you put him in the
- 26:30midfield. I I tell you, I think wherever
- 26:33you put him, he's going to be really good.
- 26:34It's just a matter of is he going to be top 4 good, or is he
- 26:37going to be like top ten good? Yeah.
- 26:39You know, yeah, yeah, I think that's a good point to you.
- 26:41I mean, obviously sock up the injury puts that out.
- 26:44I think he would have probably been up there with close to Cole
- 26:46Palmer numbers. Great.
- 26:48So and then just real quick on Bruno, when we look at the last
- 26:51three years, this was his lowest year and he had shots on goal at
- 26:5529. So team is not as offensive.
- 26:58The forwards are not as good. But at the same time like his
- 27:02assist numbers might go up. If you look at if they had a
- 27:04better striker instead of like Xerxy and Holland, he might, he
- 27:06might have had more, you know, more assists.
- 27:08You know the two, the players with the most chances created
- 27:12are in the Premier League. No Bruno Cole Palmer.
- 27:14No Cole Palmer. Cole Palmer, Yeah.
- 27:16Yep. Oops.
- 27:19So, but I'm a little nervous about where he's gonna be
- 27:22playing next year. Is he gonna be playing in the
- 27:23wing back position? Is that his best position?
- 27:25Are you really gonna draft a wing back in this, the end of
- 27:28the second or the beginning of the the beginning of the second
- 27:31like that to me doesn't feel great.
- 27:32But yeah, but have you seen Wade doesn't that wingback role, he
- 27:35beats players like he he he eats them up for dinner.
- 27:39Now when he's on his day, he can beat any player on that, on that
- 27:42right hand side. And then he creates too.
- 27:44It's he just, he's he has to get better.
- 27:46Am I saying he's going to get better?
- 27:47I don't know. He's still young as a kid, but
- 27:5013.06 points per start and he if he starts 36 plus games, that's
- 27:56incredible. Yeah.
- 27:58Yeah, I mean, you're not wrong. It just makes me a little
- 28:00nervous. I think the uncertainty of who
- 28:02he's playing with and what his role is just makes me a little
- 28:04nervous. But you're not wrong.
- 28:06I I think his fantasy numbers looked a lot better with Amerin,
- 28:11but then again, he didn't play a lot under 10.
- 28:13Yeah, no. That's very true.
- 28:14OK, Next question, Awobi, this is about the the highest that
- 28:19Awobi's going to get. And I don't mean that in a bad
- 28:21way. Bad.
- 28:22Way. No, no, no, no.
- 28:23Yeah, I think this is just like, well, where do you really go
- 28:26from here with your him? Like what?
- 28:28What else is there? So then like, I'm not drafting
- 28:30him. I'm not thinking, oh, I'm going
- 28:33to get him in the second round. I think, you know, but like if
- 28:36he if he drops the 4th, I'd be pretty happy.
- 28:39Yeah. I think he's not a sexy name.
- 28:41It's not sexy at all. It's so unsexy.
- 28:44Still a good, still a good pick in the maybe not even the
- 28:47fourth, maybe the 5th if. He's still there.
- 28:50I think it just really depends on how smart people in your are
- 28:53in your league. It's just it's, I think in that
- 28:55in that frame, that 4th, that 3rd, 4th, whatever area, people
- 28:59are still hoping to get superstars that are going to win
- 29:01the league and sometimes it's hard to settle for the guy
- 29:04that's going to just do enough for you.
- 29:06He's also probably going to go to the African Cup nation so.
- 29:09Yes, that is very true. And that's something we should
- 29:11be thinking about and that's something when I was thinking
- 29:14about Sala, that's probably why I would take Sacco over Sala as
- 29:18the one. I think.
- 29:19I think that was the deciding factor for me, age, all these
- 29:22other factors, but I think that AFCON is a big part of it.
- 29:26And then I met you as a he's right there. 399 like their
- 29:29second-half of the season was so much better.
- 29:31If if they play like they did in the second-half of the season,
- 29:33the whole season that that that number goes up.
- 29:35I know Palace is a team played better but as a as a player
- 29:38played better in the second-half because he was non existent that
- 29:41First off if you had dropped him you were saying what the fuck is
- 29:44going on you? We thought that he was missing
- 29:47Elysee because Elysee is tearing up in in Munich right now.
- 29:50But Eze in the second-half, he he came along.
- 29:52Yeah, he figured totally. I guess the, the biggest concern
- 29:55with Eze is if he's going to stay at Palace.
- 29:58Yeah, if he goes somewhere, I think I, I just can't think of a
- 30:01lot of places that where he goes that I'm happy about from a
- 30:04fantasy standpoint, like Tottenham.
- 30:06Maybe I'd be, I'd be happy because I think he'd get a lot
- 30:08of playing time at Tottenham. He would.
- 30:10But like, if he goes to City, I'm not, I'm just not happy
- 30:13about him because of the same quest, the same concerns we've
- 30:15had with a lot of these players. Yeah, you know, and then I don't
- 30:19know, I mean, then there's also a chance he goes to Bayern
- 30:21Munich and we never see him again.
- 30:23Yeah, he just disappears. He just evaporates like smoke
- 30:27from our lives. Yeah.
- 30:29Yeah. So those are kind of the mid,
- 30:30the top midfield guys that that we're going through now.
- 30:32Let's talk defenders #1 ranked defender, one of my favorite
- 30:37guys. So I didn't have any any league,
- 30:38but I still love is Daniel Menez 457.5 points #2 in total points
- 30:44Anthony Robinson 420.75 America #3 yes, America Trent Alexander
- 30:50Arnold 389.5 #4 Nathan Collins 382.382 solid #5 Virgil Van Dyke
- 30:59380. So kind of just a little bit
- 31:02like the points per game shifts a little.
- 31:04It's Moon as Trent Robinson, Tarkowski, Pedro Poro.
- 31:08So just just kind of keeping that in mind too.
- 31:10So there's, you know, on a points per game basis, those
- 31:13were the top guys. I've got to say though, like out
- 31:17of all of them, like trend didn't pay that much, but points
- 31:20per game, like all those players besides maybe James Talkowski
- 31:24for a while weren't getting clean sheet points.
- 31:26Yeah, yeah, you're not wrong. They weren't getting clean sheet
- 31:29points and that was something that I'd look at with defenders
- 31:32because clean sheets is, is huge.
- 31:33That's what, 6 points for a clean sheet?
- 31:36I'm almost like it's so hard to predict clean sheets that I'm
- 31:39almost as I was kind of, I used to think about that a lot too
- 31:41ends up, but now I'm almost like I, I don't know who's going to
- 31:44have a good defense this year. It's it's like sometimes it's
- 31:46hard to predict things like that.
- 31:47And sometimes you almost got to think about the opposite.
- 31:51Like are they going to maybe you should like when you look at the
- 31:54most consistent defenders over the last few years, it's been
- 31:56attacking defenders. It's been Trent, it's been Karen
- 31:58trip year. It's been guys like that that
- 32:01are getting points elsewhere so that aren't dependent on clean
- 32:04sheet points to get them, you know, where they want to be.
- 32:07It's just crazy because out of all those I think was there, I
- 32:12think it's Robinson was the only one not to score a goal.
- 32:16Score a goal No Zero goals, 10 assists in the Premier League in
- 32:19the prior. League double digit assists.
- 32:21That's pretty good. I think the the most amazing
- 32:23thing is Daniel Mooney is just what a season.
- 32:26What an unbelievable season. Four goals and five assists from
- 32:28defense. Robinson has never scored a goal
- 32:31in the EPL. Oh shit, really?
- 32:33Yeah, I know that. That's crazy.
- 32:36So he does. I'm surprised he's not.
- 32:37He doesn't have more numbers. Only four, four goals, 5
- 32:39assists. I thought that I thought this
- 32:41would be a little bit higher to be honest with you.
- 32:43So. This is what I would say on
- 32:45drafting defenders. So we talked about the draft,
- 32:46what position you want to focus on.
- 32:48We clearly saw forward is where all the highest strong points
- 32:52are. When you look at the top five
- 32:53defenders, only two of them will be ranked in top five
- 32:56midfielders, surpass their points and only one of them
- 32:58would be in the top five forwards.
- 33:00Drafting early for defenders, I think you're reaching and then
- 33:03throughout the year you could play the match ups on defenders
- 33:05and you could see who actually has a good defense.
- 33:06So you don't want to waste draft Kaplan the first four or five,
- 33:09maybe even 6 rounds. At least for me, I wouldn't
- 33:13unless I don't know, like there's like a stud available
- 33:17and there's no one else on the board.
- 33:18I completely agree with Tico and that's rare for me to do with
- 33:21you. But yeah, defenders, I think you
- 33:24are reaching your right. Is Daniel Moniz going to have
- 33:27another season like this? Is Robertson going to have
- 33:28another 10 assists next season? We don't know.
- 33:31But like you said, just the the facts are in the numbers.
- 33:33And I think if you go back in the last couple seasons, even
- 33:36with the the one goal being not minus wherever it is, it helped
- 33:42them with points, but it's they still didn't break into like
- 33:45that top ten, top 20 like consistently all the defense.
- 33:48So you're right, I think 6 rounds is as early as you should
- 33:50go for a defender. So even if it is.
- 33:53Fixed round, I don't know, no, absolutely not.
- 33:55These guys are going to go these guys are going to go higher.
- 33:58I think I mean, I I hear you guys.
- 34:00I think you're right. And I think that's it's keeping
- 34:01that in mind and even like like drafting Trent in the second lot
- 34:04this year, like it kind of hurt like it, you know, there are
- 34:07there are players that could have gotten, but what what it
- 34:09gives you is it gives you positional advantage.
- 34:11So if you think you can find a mid off waivers, you think you
- 34:14can find a forward off waivers, but you have an elite, elite
- 34:17defence like Enzo. How many games did you win
- 34:19because of your defence this year?
- 34:20Well, yeah, but none of those were like top the I've got
- 34:23because I've got Robinson a few. But before I got Robinson, it
- 34:25was it was like young Mario, who's not even top five.
- 34:32Lucky. So Tarkovsky, who was ranked top
- 34:34five in points per game, drafted in the seventh round.
- 34:38Robinson, who was ranked second overall, drafted in the second
- 34:40round. Guess where Minos was drafted?
- 34:44Like 6 round. He was not drafted.
- 34:46No. Yes he was.
- 34:47Munez was drafted. I'm looking at our draft right
- 34:49now. I know for a fact he was
- 34:51drafted. I'm looking at the draft right
- 34:52now. You're wrong, You're wrong.
- 34:53You're missing him on the on the thing.
- 34:55I'm literally doing control F and typing Munoz.
- 34:58I know for factors he's drafted. Sergey said he drafted him.
- 35:01Oh yeah, six round. My bad.
- 35:04I'll take Dale on that. That's all right, I guess.
- 35:07Still six round. Yeah.
- 35:08So if he draft also Sergey didn't draft him, it was Obi
- 35:13Wan. Kobe drafted him.
- 35:14Yes, Yeah, no, yeah, yeah, but no, I, I hear what you're
- 35:17saying. I just, I mean, but OK, so sixth
- 35:21round is I, I think it's like, maybe it's not second round.
- 35:24Yeah, it's not second. Maybe it's not.
- 35:25Maybe it's third round, maybe it's fourth round.
- 35:27But I hear what you're saying for position, but I feel like
- 35:31that's a mistake that some of us have made before, not maybe not
- 35:34in the earlier rounds, but the later rounds where we're trying
- 35:36to fill the positions to make sure we have a, a full first
- 35:40team instead of having more depth.
- 35:41And I think what Tico's saying is that, and I think it's the
- 35:45same, not it's not entirely the same for goals as goal games.
- 35:47I don't think you have to draft unless you get like a top five
- 35:50goalkeeper and you get them late.
- 35:52You don't have to draft a defender so early because you
- 35:55could, like you just said, matchups like who are they
- 35:57playing against? Are they playing against Leeds
- 35:59or freaking Sunderland or Burnley and they're going to get
- 36:02a clean sheet so. I hear you guys.
- 36:04I hear you guys. I'm going to.
- 36:05I'm going to give you guys a little preview of my draft
- 36:08strategy. I'm not going to look at
- 36:10positions. If I have 3 forwards and I see
- 36:12another forward that's on there, I'll draft another forward and
- 36:14then I'll use one of those to trade for a defender after a
- 36:17month into the season where I know who's performing well.
- 36:19So I know you need to fill the positions, but doesn't
- 36:22necessarily mean you have to pass up on a better player,
- 36:25fantasy player, to just draft a defender for the sake of having
- 36:28a defender. You're welcome.
- 36:30That's all take on that. Suck it.
- 36:33I I think that's, that's smart. I think that works.
- 36:35I think, yeah. I mean, I think the one thing,
- 36:39the one thing I will say is that the and I I'm just repeating
- 36:42myself, but just that when you're looking at like the we
- 36:44have a new crop of defenders coming up because Trippier's not
- 36:48there anymore, really like he's not at the level Trent's gone.
- 36:51Like those are the guys were kind of the the elite elite.
- 36:54And the question is, is, is Muniz and Robinson are the and
- 36:58then potentially from Pong, are they going to become and
- 37:01potentially Kirk, as you know, maybe maybe not.
- 37:03Like could we see them reach elite levels?
- 37:07I don't, I don't know. And that question is probably
- 37:09not. But then it's like, is it still
- 37:11worth it having just the best player in a position?
- 37:15So the the players that are we look at that might reach those
- 37:19numbers be like elite defenders, like over 12 points.
- 37:23I would take Guardiol and someone else has been a big
- 37:26disappointment. Cali Fury because he was
- 37:28injured. But whenever he played, he he
- 37:30put up goals, assists and he would get clean sheets as well.
- 37:33So those are, that's California's the one that I
- 37:35would gamble. On so you're not looking at the
- 37:38guys that have done well last year, you're looking at guys
- 37:40that maybe underperformed quote UN quote a little bit that you
- 37:43think then could could reach that level.
- 37:44From this list, the only person that I Munoz is the only one
- 37:49that I like. You know what?
- 37:50I'm going to draft them. That I think.
- 37:53I think initially I thought I mean Muniz finished what, 7th
- 37:57overall in points? Total points?
- 38:00I think so, yeah. He was top.
- 38:01Something like that. Yeah, he was.
- 38:03I mean, I'm just saying like, you can't say that.
- 38:05That's not pretty damn good. But you can also to score four
- 38:10goals. I I think 4 is OK.
- 38:13I think that's for a wingback, someone who's going to be
- 38:15getting up and down, the way that he gets up and down the
- 38:17field. I feel like 4 is like, I'm not
- 38:19saying yeah, I think it's, I don't think it's like, I don't
- 38:21think it was like Ollie Watkins what last year where you felt
- 38:24like he was so over performing. I'd be curious to see what his
- 38:26like XG was. Was he over performing his XG?
- 38:29Well, the first year, last year when he played for Chris Palace,
- 38:31it was his first year, he only played 16 games, zero goals, 4
- 38:34assists and he averaged 11.3. So that's two years in an hour
- 38:38he's been putting up the value. I think that's, I think Minos
- 38:41will be like the new Trent trip here, but obviously not at the
- 38:45level they were doing it. Yes, yes, yeah, I mean, it's
- 38:50worth it's that's just it'll be interesting.
- 38:53I I don't think he'll be there in the 4th.
- 38:56No, no, no, the player might be interesting depending on if they
- 38:59leave or not. If Poro leaves Tottenham, Jed
- 39:02Spence. Yeah, like later rounds.
- 39:04Yeah, not not anything rally, but he could be a a diamond in
- 39:08the rough. Do you think Nathan Collins will
- 39:10just kind of fade into who knows why he just.
- 39:13Two years of. He was good.
- 39:15He's been two years. Yes, good years.
- 39:17Like what was he last year? Teco, can you have a look
- 39:19please? Because I remember when I was
- 39:21talking about Nathan Collins last year.
- 39:22He finished seventeen this year and last year he averaged 7.2
- 39:26points per game. So.
- 39:30He must have started, like every game then, Yeah, to finish in
- 39:33the top, Yeah. So defenders, it's interesting.
- 39:36I think it'll be interesting to see where they go.
- 39:38I think losing Trent Trippier fading has just putting it.
- 39:43It's putting interesting thing in.
- 39:45I've said it a few times, but I think this this draft is going
- 39:47to be pretty nasty. We've got a thing of some of
- 39:50these, like livermento too is going to be a big one I feel
- 39:52next season for. It's going to be bigger.
- 39:53Yeah. Yeah.
- 39:54Lewis Hall. Lewis Hall, Miles Lewis Skelly.
- 39:57Does he get changed? Fuck off.
- 40:02Does does does Lewis Kelly get defined as a defender?
- 40:06Maybe. What about Reese James?
- 40:08If he's fit, that's a big if, brother.
- 40:11That is a big if. He's he played, he played more
- 40:14games this season than he has the last two combined, I think.
- 40:16That's not saying much. Or maybe not exactly.
- 40:18He played 19 in. The Premier League, but but I
- 40:21think in overall, overall, yeah. Can we even after we go through
- 40:25goalkeepers? Just talk goalkeepers real
- 40:27quickly. Fluck in a 380.5 Pickford 349
- 40:31Sells 331.5 Raya three O 5.25 Sanchez three O 2.
- 40:37When was the first keeper drafted in early?
- 40:39It was probably too early I think it was.
- 40:41I think no matter what Keeper was.
- 40:43On no Allison, it was Allison in the eighth round and on the 5th
- 40:47pick, then on Nana, then I picked them then.
- 40:49Oh, wait, no, I'm gonna. Look at them.
- 40:51It was on Nana 8-8, Allison 9-8. And look at the wrong leak.
- 40:55And RYA 11 Pickford 11. So I think the biggest thing
- 40:59with them is you you're going to hold.
- 41:00But I, I think the one take away for me is when you look at these
- 41:04keepers, Flecken Pickford and like sells and then Sanchez,
- 41:11none of those were like none of those are Allison or Onona.
- 41:15None of those are Ederson. It's like that that the elite
- 41:18elite teams, you know, or like you know, the elite elite
- 41:21keepers are don't necessarily like translate in for fantasy.
- 41:24Well, mostly because elite keepers aren't getting much
- 41:28better teams, so they don't not a lot of saves.
- 41:32But like in I don't know if you guys saw on his way out by
- 41:35Levers Leverkusen. Oh really?
- 41:37I didn't see that. Emilio Martinez is on his way
- 41:40out, too. He's on his way out.
- 41:42So I think the only, and then Nick Pope is the one who's been
- 41:45consistent for the last 3-4 years, who obviously got hurt
- 41:49this year. Him, Pickford and RYA the last
- 41:54year and a half have been pretty consistent.
- 41:55I think Pickford will be back up there again next year the way
- 41:58Moise is playing. Yeah, it'll be interesting.
- 42:01I think not sells. We'll see what happens there
- 42:02that I think that might be a bit of a flash in the pan Yeah and I
- 42:05think yeah, I think just keeper doesn't matter that much draft
- 42:09draft it late. I I think Flecken when I drafted
- 42:11I picked him up and like the I don't think I drafted A keeper.
- 42:14I think my strategy is to not draft a keeper.
- 42:17Have you guys I did that last year right.
- 42:20Appreciate that you. Did that last year.
- 42:22Yeah, I did. I drafted a keeper in the last
- 42:24round. I drafted at her centre 16th
- 42:26round. But I think in our other league,
- 42:28in our fantasy Bros, I don't think I drafted A keeper.
- 42:31Yeah, I didn't draft a keeper in fantasy Bros because for that
- 42:34reason, I think that you can just there's enough talent out
- 42:36there you can kind of assess as you get tighter to the season.
- 42:39But if you really want, if you want a guy, also get him late.
- 42:42Don't. Don't reach, you know.
- 42:45I think there's only maybe 3 or 4 keepers that you just put them
- 42:49in the starting lineup. You don't worry about matchups.
- 42:51I would say Raya Pope, someone else maybe, I don't know, but
- 42:55those are like the three, two people.
- 42:57So like fucking Aaron Ramsdale averaged 8.1 points per game.
- 43:02Yeah, solid. All right, Anzo, you got to go.
- 43:04I got. To go on live 13 minutes.
- 43:07Oh, thirteen. Yeah, that's fine.
- 43:08I think the last thing we wanted to chat is maybe some of these
- 43:10guys, our first year in the EPL guys and let's let's I'm going
- 43:13to go through these and tell me if you if you think they're
- 43:16going to get better. OK, I think that might be yes
- 43:18for all of them, but who knows? First year in the EPL.
- 43:20Jordan Strand, Larson Wolves forward scored 300 and 300.8
- 43:25points 8.6 points points per game.
- 43:28Do you think he gets better or worse?
- 43:31No Cunya to help him out. No Cunya.
- 43:33I think pretty similar do. You think it'll be pretty
- 43:36similar? Yeah, yeah. 238.75 points. 9.78
- 43:41points per game. More game time means he gets
- 43:43better. It's if he plays, he's better,
- 43:46if he doesn't then. Yeah, I think there was a period
- 43:49where he was playing every game for a while there.
- 43:51He. Started off starting, yeah.
- 43:52And he looks so good. Yeah, and then for a lot of the
- 43:54season he was starting, but then all of a sudden, Pep, just like
- 43:57the last like month and a half of the season, Pep decided he
- 43:59was done with. I don't want to play with you
- 44:01anymore. Be gone in a fucking tantrum.
- 44:04Minta 274 points at 8.6 points per game.
- 44:09He looks so good. I love watching.
- 44:12I like watching him and he's a fucking old school bowler.
- 44:15Just runs at defenders, doesn't give a fuck.
- 44:18I just, I think it's the same issue as Savio's playing time,
- 44:21huh? And it's like.
- 44:23So many role players. Yeah, it's like there's a
- 44:26bespoke formation for every team they play against.
- 44:29I think he gets better. What'd you say?
- 44:31I think he gets better. You think he gets better?
- 44:33Yeah. Well, Evan Nielsen, 267.25
- 44:36points, 8.28.62 points per game. He suffered pretty bad injury
- 44:40midway through the season and missed two to three months.
- 44:43Do you guys think he gets better?
- 44:45I mean is he going to create 4 penalties again?
- 44:47Yeah, that's the thing. Is he going to do that?
- 44:49I don't know. I I think he's going to be a
- 44:52solid but not spectacular player in his Premier League career, I
- 44:56think, but I think it's also very team dependent.
- 44:58Like I think if Areola stays at Bournemouth, I'll, I'll draft
- 45:02him, I'll like him, I'll be excited about him.
- 45:04If Ariel goes, I don't know. I don't know, because I feel
- 45:07like he's such a scrappy like score.
- 45:09You know, he he does certain things really well, but he does
- 45:12other things. I just don't think he's that
- 45:14great. So it's at other things.
- 45:16So I kind of feel like it's really dependent on the
- 45:18situation. All right, fair.
- 45:19Yeah. Mazrawi 259.3 points, 7 points
- 45:23per game. Forgot about man.
- 45:25You know better. Has to do better.
- 45:28Has to do better I think. I think so.
- 45:32Amarin gets like 10 games fired and no magic comes in and he has
- 45:36a fucking outstanding something like that.
- 45:38Was Maserati brought in to be a wingback or a center back?
- 45:41He's been playing a lot of center back for he Was.
- 45:43Brought into being fucking a right back, but that was on the
- 45:4710 hog so. I don't know about that one.
- 45:49That one question marks for me, Mohamed El Canews from
- 45:53Leicester, 213.86 point, 7 points per game.
- 45:57He had a good end of the season, so people remember that, but he
- 45:59was pretty. There's some really dark.
- 46:00Periods he plays, I think he's yeah.
- 46:03Like he knows that he's even stays in.
- 46:04The he got the motive, so yeah. But he someone might pick him
- 46:07up. We're not likely.
- 46:08OK, Mikael Marino, 215.25 points, 7.69 points per game.
- 46:13The whole the whole striker experiment was interesting.
- 46:15Yeah, but I think that's why his points went up, because he
- 46:17scored a few goals. I would think he's.
- 46:19I think people are going to reach on him.
- 46:20He's going to be disappointment next year.
- 46:22Yeah, disappointment. No one's going to spend 55 on
- 46:24him so. No one spent 50. 5 How much do
- 46:26you spend on him? Spent 35 on.
- 46:28That's still too. Much.
- 46:29It's 29. Too much, but at the time he had
- 46:33two collarbones. He had boldest collarbones
- 46:36intact. When he spent the money on him
- 46:37and. Then a day later, he no longer
- 46:39had boldest collarbones intact #8 Delict 197.25 at 6.8 points
- 46:45per game. I don't think he plays a lot.
- 46:46I. Don't think he plays a lot
- 46:47either. What is up with him?
- 46:48He was like the most promising centre back of his.
- 46:51Yeah, well, then he went to Juventus and I mean, yeah, but
- 46:55then. Juventus.
- 46:56Crashed out? Yeah.
- 46:57Crushed out. Why would you go to Juventus to
- 47:00play behind Bonucci and cheerleading like?
- 47:02Maybe they'll learn from them. I don't.
- 47:04Think how much? They've been pressed.
- 47:06He's regressed. Yeah, OK.
- 47:08Marmouche 168.5 at 10.5 points per game down.
- 47:12I think he gets better. Better, Yeah.
- 47:14Do you think he plays enough? To be, I think he plays.
- 47:17So do you think Pep's going to totally change his system and
- 47:19have this? Is Marmouche coming off to the
- 47:21left? Do you think he's going to play
- 47:22almost like 2 strikers? He's going to old school.
- 47:24No, look, he's going to do. Pep's going to go inverted back,
- 47:28wing backs where they play center back and the center backs
- 47:30move up the middle. That's what he's going to do.
- 47:33That's that's a bold move. The reason I think Marmich is
- 47:36going to get better because Doku and Savio, they just play on the
- 47:39wings whereas Marmich has played up top #10 on the wing.
- 47:42So I think Marmich is going to be playing a lot more and he
- 47:45scored goals whereas Savio and Doku don't score as.
- 47:48As many goals, they don't score as many goals.
- 47:50Yeah, yeah, I think that's fair. I think it's fair to assume
- 47:53that. I was pretty impressed with how
- 47:55quickly he adjusted the Premier League.
- 47:56Right away, yeah. That's that's hard to do, Yeah,
- 47:58but takes players a lot of time usually.
- 48:01OK, then I'm going to do a nada, a Seville midfielder.
- 48:05He was really good at interior when he was there, but.
- 48:08Being the same. Yeah, I.
- 48:10Think a year without Champions League will help him be a little
- 48:13bit of a better player. You guys no interest.
- 48:16No interest. That's just me though.
- 48:18Maybe take off? He was such a he.
- 48:21Had a great start. Yeah, yeah, I mean, he, I
- 48:24thought he was going to be like a goal scoring midfielder for a
- 48:26minute, just like a lot of like those like set pieces and stuff
- 48:29like that because that's what he did at the beginning of the
- 48:30season and it just didn't really happen after that.
- 48:32That's what it is. All right, that's all we got.
- 48:34Anything else you guys want to chat about?
- 48:36Of course, the jersey that I'm wearing is Luca Moldridge.
- 48:38Oh, that was, that was. I wasn't crying.
- 48:41You're like, this is the most emotional I've ever gotten.
- 48:44I did not expect them to give him the guard of honor and then
- 48:46to see Tony Cruz that then give him a hug.
- 48:49Goosebumps. Oh man, it's nice man.
- 48:52Well, one of the best, one of the best of all time.
- 48:54One of the best of all time. Tottenham legend, Real Midget
- 48:57legend it. Was great Tottenham Croatia,
- 49:00amazing Croatia legend. Croatia legend ended the streak
- 49:04of Messi and CR7 winning the battle on Dior's.
- 49:06So he's like just a football legend then?
- 49:08True he is. Beloved by everyone, I feel like
- 49:11he's no haters. He really hates.
- 49:14Maurino brought him the first year, Spain said.
- 49:16He's the worst signing of of the year not in Real Madrid of all
- 49:20of La Liga. He got the worst signing because
- 49:22at the time they had Ozil, Gaka, Di Maria, he they got rid of
- 49:25everyone 6 Champions League, 6 fucking Champions League.
- 49:30It's it's crazy. Captain Grace, amazing player
- 49:33do. You think he he continues to
- 49:34play or is he hanging up his boots?
- 49:36No, no, he's, I think he's done so.
- 49:38Initially, from what I read is Alonzo wanted him to stay.
- 49:42He wanted to stay. He was even willing to take a
- 49:44less money. But I I think it's you come at
- 49:47an age where you need to move on from like the older generation
- 49:49because just the pressure from the media and everyone else to
- 49:51play him if something goes doesn't go well.
- 49:54So I've read rumors where MLS including Inter Miami and I also
- 49:59read that he might Saudi has interest.
- 50:01But from what I read is he doesn't want to move his family.
- 50:03Saudi no one complaining him has two kids.
- 50:06So MLS looks more likely. Even the players that came like
- 50:10Kovacic came to support him. Obviously the Croatian ties,
- 50:13former real major player, Obviously everyone posted, a lot
- 50:17of people came. It was just I the outside the
- 50:21boot pass. Oh my God.
- 50:22All right, we're good. We're done.
- 50:23You done your little rant. Let's close up, Keith.
- 50:26This has been episode 90 of Draft Offsides.
- 50:29My name is Keith. I'm with two good Enzo.
- 50:30Follow us at Draft Offsides. We are going to be doing some
- 50:34content throughout the offseason and then we'll really ramp it up
- 50:36coming into to draft season next year.
- 50:39But we'll try and we'll try and stick around and do some stuff
- 50:42now and again. Sounds like fun.
- 50:44And also, if we say something about about messy doesn't mean
- 50:46you should tell us we should die.
