Sock Out Cancer, a nonprofit that’s been selling $10 socks for nearly a decade—with half the proceeds going directly to cancer patients—has brought its mission home to New York. Partnering with Mozaic, which supports people with disabilities, they’re now producing colorful, cause-driven socks at Finger Lakes Textiles in Seneca County. Volunteers from Security Mutual Life Insurance are behind the operation, and the custom machines at Finger Lakes Textiles are not only creating vibrant socks for ovarian, sarcoma, and breast cancer awareness but also offering meaningful employment.
