- 0:02podcast. Whoa.
- 0:04Wow, wow. I'm gonna start imitating you.
- 0:07This is my new thing. You just like him, that was.
- 0:10Crazy the fact that you just let me know now I'm gonna F with you
- 0:14so hard. Yeah, he's gonna be like, my
- 0:16name's Jake and I'm. Kevin's a very smart guy, super
- 0:23analytical, but the one thing he can't do is find alternatives to
- 0:26words. I'm gonna F with you.
- 0:32It's just a really wanna swear, but I don't want, I don't wanna
- 0:35ruin the algorithm. You could have said Fudge.
- 0:39I know, but F sounds more vulgar even though I'm not saying the
- 0:42whole word. It's true.
- 0:43I I love saying just the first letter.
- 0:45Yeah. Alright, alright, point taken.
- 0:48Welcome into Bangor Management Podcast, The Fantasy Hockey.
- 0:52How are? You all doing.
- 0:53Yeah. South of the border.
- 0:55Have you heard any French at all lately, Josh?
- 0:57I went to a Renaissance fair, and that's a French word, yeah.
- 1:06That is so funny. It was actually really fun.
- 1:09My goal when I went there was to eat anything that was on a stick
- 1:12and I had like 7 different foods.
- 1:13It was. Great.
- 1:14Was it like burgers on a stick or something or you actually?
- 1:16I had. Food that belongs on a stick.
- 1:18Steak on a steak was pretty good.
- 1:20I had cheese on a steak on a steak, like steak, you know,
- 1:24like. Those that are not.
- 1:27Fried Mac and cheese on a stick. I had one of those Turkey legs.
- 1:30That's what I really wanted. On OHP, OK I.
- 1:32Had a piece of pie. On a stick or it's on a bone?
- 1:36It was on a stick. Everything's on a stick.
- 1:38That's what's the Renaissance is about.
- 1:41We're going to make a hockey Renaissance fair.
- 1:43All the food on a hockey stick. I like it.
- 1:47Yeah, that's a good point. All right, today we are doing
- 1:51our top 10 sleepers for this coming fantasy hockey season.
- 1:56You could follow Spotify, Apple Podcast, wherever you get your
- 1:58podcasts and find the link to all of our social media in the
- 2:01link tree, which as always is in the podcast description.
- 2:05Should we start with Imagenes? Sorry, here you go.
- 2:10I think we need to preface it by just kind of explaining what our
- 2:13description of sleepers are. These are guys that I mean, we
- 2:17play in deep leagues or leagues are 12 to 14 teams large and it
- 2:21goes like 20 rounds deep, right? So you win, you win your fantasy
- 2:24leagues by getting those scrappy guys off the waiver wire that
- 2:27contribute more value than where they were obviously drafted or
- 2:30not drafted. So these are all guys that are
- 2:33going pretty late in your draft, either undrafted or far in the
- 2:36double digit rounds. And that should round out your
- 2:40fantasy team in a in a good way and give you that value.
- 2:42So we have a 10 guys that were gonna name and some and.
- 2:45I'll mention anyone on this list is gonna be picked in single
- 2:48digit rounds and I think that's a great this is like a great way
- 2:51to like you said, round out the team.
- 2:54And a lot of these guys might be, you know, I think in all our
- 2:57stuff we talked about for the experienced listeners, all the
- 3:00names we mentioned are names they've heard of already are
- 3:02considered fantasy relevant. Maybe we might surprise some
- 3:05people, some of these guys. So that's I think it's an
- 3:07exciting episode coming up. I feel like last year guys like,
- 3:10you know, Marchenko are probably on this list, right?
- 3:13And and those guys end up being league winners.
- 3:15So maybe there's some big time league winners in on this list.
- 3:18This year for sure, and even if you're in like a, I don't know,
- 3:2114 round league, 12 teams, whatever, you know, like this,
- 3:25these guys are way past ADP. Probably at the end of your
- 3:28draft, if you see someone in ADP like that's higher, but they're
- 3:32not these guys. Like you could still reach for
- 3:34them in the last 2-3 rounds because these guys do have the
- 3:37upside that they could end up being mainstays on their lineup.
- 3:39It's all about who's on the board.
- 3:41Yeah, yeah. Alright.
- 3:42So our honorable mentions, we've got Alex Laferriere, Ryan
- 3:47McLeod, and Matt Coronado. Ryan Ryan McLeod won fantasy
- 3:51leagues for a lot of people last year because he ended up being
- 3:54the 1C4, the Buffalo Sabres and he just like killed it.
- 3:57I mean, I had him in our category league and he was a
- 3:59monster. He won me shorthanded points
- 4:01like 2-3. Weeks in a row, Crazy.
- 4:03That was a crazy span of like 2-3 weeks where he was just
- 4:06putting up crazy shorties and he had two like four goal games.
- 4:08Yeah, it was it was really nuts. I mean, I would say the caveat
- 4:11with him is the Norris's health because that'll cap a lot of his
- 4:15value. But I mean, I think I said that
- 4:16at the end of last year when we were talking about him as a
- 4:18streamer and then Norris was healthy and he still put up some
- 4:21ridiculous games. So I don't think he can do that
- 4:24crazy stuff season long. But I think he's a, he's a good
- 4:26sleeper, honorable mention, a guy who could be, you know, stay
- 4:29on your team for a lot longer than you expect.
- 4:30And we said Alex Laferriere, not Lafreniere.
- 4:34So just we're talking about the guy on LA, he had some time on
- 4:39in the top six last year and I think that's where he's going to
- 4:41be valuable. These deep guys.
- 4:43It's all about finding guys that are, you know, top 6 and
- 4:46deployment on their roster and not huge names, but because they
- 4:49have that deployment, they end up they end up contributing a
- 4:52lot more than you would expect. Yeah, and he was like a double
- 4:54double last year at certain points.
- 4:56He was on power play one for certain points, Someone to keep
- 4:58an eye out on. And Coronado, you know, I always
- 5:00say follow that money, baby. So you just follow the he just
- 5:03got paid big time. So that's another I want to keep
- 5:05an eye out on, especially on a Calgary team where there's a lot
- 5:08of empty spots in that lineup that someone opportunist that
- 5:11could jump in and take advantage of.
- 5:13Absolutely. Alright, let us begin with. #10.
- 5:18Nice. All right #10 Also on Buffalo,
- 5:21we've got Jason Zucker. Last year he had .73 points per
- 5:25game, two shots and one hit. He honestly, he was a staple on
- 5:31my roster last year. I picked him up off waivers and
- 5:34he was a stud and the reason why he was a stud was because of how
- 5:37good he was on the power play. Last year.
- 5:39It felt like every other game he had a power play point and and
- 5:43this year I expect him to keep the same deployment as last
- 5:46year. And why should he get any worse
- 5:48right? Like, I think Buffalo, if
- 5:50anything, like we don't expect much of them from a team overall
- 5:52this year, but they still have fantasy assets that are that are
- 5:55worth having on your fantasy team, right?
- 5:57Like he's gonna play on the power play with Tage Thompson,
- 6:01Rasmus Dahlin, no more J Patrick, unfortunately.
- 6:04So maybe that gives more shot volume for Jason Zucker.
- 6:08Yeah. And I think another thing that's
- 6:10cool about Zucker is he has nearly zero name value.
- 6:13I don't think anyone really is going into their drafts being
- 6:16like, I can't wait to draft Jason Zucker, you know, I think.
- 6:18Whoa, whoa, whoa. Other than other than people on
- 6:21this podcast right now, but yeah, so that's one of those
- 6:25ones where like you can literally get him in like around
- 6:2717 and he could be a power play. One guy who sticks around your
- 6:30roster for the entire season. That's really hard to like when
- 6:34you're throwing your dart throws and here's a dart throw that you
- 6:36know you have a year under his belt of showing that he can be
- 6:39roster mainstay. So it's very interesting.
- 6:40Yeah, last year was one of his best years on any team.
- 6:44He's obviously a journeyman. He's played on like 4 different
- 6:46teams in the NHL. I guess the only the quote UN
- 6:49quote fury I have with a guy like this is Buffalo's not gonna
- 6:52be a playoff team in all likelihood.
- 6:54If they are, all the better. I mean he's going to succeed,
- 6:56but if he's not then he may get traded, which usually is not a
- 6:58good thing mid season. However, the one time that he
- 7:01did get traded mid season was 20/19/20 from Minnesota to
- 7:04Pittsburgh. He ended up getting 12 points in
- 7:0615 games on a new Pittsburgh Penguins team, which is a
- 7:09really, really good line for how he can perform switching squads
- 7:14mid-season. So.
- 7:15He's lovely by pencer, by Penguins fans because of that
- 7:18one. Like, you know.
- 7:19Yeah, he was a stud and he was so good last year.
- 7:21I mean, I think this is a great choice late in your fantasy
- 7:24hockey. Draft.
- 7:25I think it's just one of those things where he's the type of
- 7:27player that maybe this year he doesn't get 60 plus points, but
- 7:31he gets 50 points, but half of them are on the power play or
- 7:34something, you know what I mean? And that's very valuable because
- 7:37power play points give you that extra boost.
- 7:39I think if he does get traded, that's a good point, Jackie.
- 7:42If he does get traded, it's probably for a team that wants
- 7:44to put him in like their middle 6, so like line 2, line 3.
- 7:46So maybe he loses deployment, but as long as I'm Buffalo, we
- 7:48love that. Also, you're picking him so late
- 7:50that like, you have to worry about that.
- 7:51You know, if you get half a season of great production out
- 7:54of him, then I'd happily take that from like, you know, around
- 7:561718. Type.
- 7:57Absolutely, yeah. All right #9.
- 8:00And #9 we've got Mackie Samutsevich for the Florida
- 8:03Panthers. I really like this guy.
- 8:05So last year his overall stats don't look that amazing on paper
- 8:08.43 points, 1.8 shots 1.9. But it really picked up toward
- 8:12the end of the season when he got some power play one time.
- 8:15But then in the playoffs he got scratched.
- 8:17So he's, you know, he's a very high upside and the floor is,
- 8:21you know, someone you're gonna drop.
- 8:22But the fact is he could be power play one on the best team
- 8:26in the league and he was putting a huge bangers numbers.
- 8:29So this could be one of those like, shot in the dark, dark
- 8:32throws late in the draft that could like have immense impact
- 8:35on your roster. Yeah, go ahead. 24th overall
- 8:39pick in 2021, like he's a former first round pick.
- 8:42That's that's not nothing like we're really high on snuggerud.
- 8:45It's similar idea, you know, like there's no reason to think
- 8:48that he can't replicate his top notch stuff when he was
- 8:52delivering that from last year. And we look at this power play.
- 8:56They still have the two defensemen there.
- 8:59Aaron Aaron Ekblad is one of our biggest trap players this
- 9:01season. And yeah, I mean, there is a
- 9:04chance that Bennett and Marshawn go there and bump off Thomas
- 9:07schedule connect blood obviously for Hagie, too, but he did
- 9:10succeed. Like, there's no reason to think
- 9:12that they're gonna give it an honest try with him.
- 9:15I really like it. And Walter, Chuck is out.
- 9:18I also think that he's gonna be playing online too.
- 9:22So I think. Relatively safe.
- 9:24Yeah, I think I agree with the basically everything you said.
- 9:27I think even if he doesn't get that P1 slot, I'm still
- 9:30interested in some scary because for where you're getting him,
- 9:32you're honestly getting really good value on bangers because he
- 9:37was, when he was on the roster then, you know, playing a lot of
- 9:40minutes, he was hitting a lot more than you would expect.
- 9:43Like he was hitting almost 3 three hits a game multiple times
- 9:47for a consecutive weeks in a row.
- 9:49That was so many redundant words, but yes, he's the one
- 9:54that I'm keeping on my watch list.
- 9:56Kevin, sorry. The end of my drafts when I'm
- 10:00near, you know, around 1617181920.
- 10:03When you know the guys, there are basically shots in the dark.
- 10:06He's one of my favorite guys. Target.
- 10:08Yep. All right #8.
- 10:11All right #8 we've got of the Detroit Red Wings, Marco Casper
- 10:15the Friendly Ghost. We were on the good one.
- 10:20Yeah, so again, last year the stats like the points don't look
- 10:24that enticing. It was .48 points per game, but
- 10:27he was 1.9 shots and two hits. So a double double right there
- 10:31pretty much. And he finished the season
- 10:33playing line one with Larkin and Raymond and he looked great
- 10:36there. So the biggest cap on him is
- 10:38that there's no chance from getting power play one.
- 10:41But in terms of even strength, like a double double, who's
- 10:43going to put up really solid even strength points?
- 10:45I like him a lot. I was going to say like I feel
- 10:48like he went under the radar with how much he was hitting
- 10:51last year. Like these guys they were
- 10:52getting for free basically off of waivers that are over two
- 10:56hits a game and also contributing into points and
- 10:58shots. Like these are guys that win
- 11:00fantasy leagues and major leagues.
- 11:01You need guys like this on your roster.
- 11:03Like you said, not having people.
- 11:05One obviously really caps the ceiling in terms of points, but
- 11:07he's going to be the 2C for most of the year unless he really
- 11:11sucks. But they also want to develop
- 11:12him, right? So I'm excited to see what the
- 11:16what he's going to be like in fantasy this year.
- 11:18Definitely I want to target late in my dress.
- 11:20Additionally, if anyone on power play 1 gets injured, I think
- 11:24that he's next man up over James van Riemsdyk or Confer.
- 11:27So yeah. It's like there's nowhere to go
- 11:30but up for him. This is like also former 8th
- 11:32overall picked 21 years old and he looked so good.
- 11:36The eye test draw, she liked to talk about that.
- 11:37Second to following the money and like, man, I loved what I
- 11:42saw out of Casper last year. I think he's going to be really,
- 11:45really a great player this year. I wouldn't be surprised if he
- 11:47gets 70 points. You wouldn't be OK somebody's.
- 11:52Something 70s a bit high but I could see him getting on 60.
- 11:55Yeah, like, I don't think it's it's not easy for him to get 70
- 11:58points, but I think like he could end up there.
- 12:00Like of all these guys on the list, I think he has the highest
- 12:03ceiling, to be honest. I.
- 12:04Think 60 is also ambitious unless it's on PP1.
- 12:07Obviously that's like the big question.
- 12:10But also I want, I want to say, and then we probably talk about
- 12:12#7 but people are questioning the Iser plan right now.
- 12:16Like, you know, Detroit had this big up and coming resurgence
- 12:19when, you know, Raymond and Cider took a big step.
- 12:21But since then they've kind of like stagnated or regressed.
- 12:24So Casper is one of those top picks that we need to see if
- 12:28eyes are plan messed up or not. I keep saying either plan when
- 12:31I'm not talking about the plan anymore.
- 12:34See, why isn't it like he he needs to hit on these guys?
- 12:37Like if if Kasper's a a bust, we're gonna know pretty early on
- 12:41and he's probably gonna get fired.
- 12:42So they wanted to succeed, I think.
- 12:44Yeah, they don't want him to go. Yeah, love.
- 12:49It alright #7. At #7 we've got Frank Nisar of
- 12:54the Chicago Blackhawks and you know, as I have said for
- 12:58probably my entire life, follow that money.
- 13:03Those were Josh's first words. He was, he was birthed and he
- 13:10was like, where's that buddy? I gotta follow it.
- 13:14Honestly, you guys are not far off.
- 13:18He just signed A7 year 6.6 million contract after only
- 13:21playing 56 NHL games so they clearly believe in him and want
- 13:25him to succeed. Unfortunately he's a centre so
- 13:27he's gonna be lying to even strength, but he should still be
- 13:29power play one playing with Bedard who we all think is gonna
- 13:31take a step forward this year. This should be a really sneaky.
- 13:35Well I don't know how sneaky after that signing you know, but
- 13:38this could be a late round guy who's gonna contribute a lot of
- 13:40points. Unlike some of the other guys we
- 13:42mentioned. He's not the biggest back Cats
- 13:44guy but points wise I like him as a sleeper.
- 13:48A lot. Yeah, me too.
- 13:49I would have way rather the Canadians hold on to the 13th
- 13:52overall pick in 2022 rather than trading for DOC.
- 13:56That's what ended up happening like this.
- 13:58This, not Nazar, should have been our team.
- 14:01And then he scored all Montano and nobody understood what was
- 14:04going on. And that never would have
- 14:06happened. They wouldn't have scored on us.
- 14:08And yeah, anyway, enough. Stress out for another game if
- 14:10we made the playoffs or not. Yeah, yeah.
- 14:13What I do love about this is that Bedard is such an amazing
- 14:17sniper and then I feel like on the power play and is going to
- 14:19be feeding him a lot of bugs. He's not much of a goal scorer.
- 14:22He's way more of an assist guy. And I think that they're gonna
- 14:25go really well. He's a part of their future.
- 14:27They wanted to start developing and getting good.
- 14:29Also it's a really nice here for Nazar.
- 14:32I expect big things like I feel like he's the type of centres
- 14:36are dime a dozen in fantasy. We always say that there's a lot
- 14:39of centre depth in the league for your fantasy leagues.
- 14:42I feel like he's the type of guy that, you know, you take with
- 14:44one of your last picks in the draft, nobody has them on their
- 14:47radar because there are bigger names available and you know
- 14:49there's guys ahead of them that are more proven.
- 14:51And then he ends up surpassing all those guys and becomes a big
- 14:54value. Alright, fan of his.
- 14:58Yeah, you, Josh. Yeah.
- 15:01Alrighty #6. At #6 we've got Dimitri
- 15:07Voronkov, who last year had .64 points per game, 2.1 shots and a
- 15:12hit and was part of that really fun Columbus Line One
- 15:15PowerPoint. One, I think last year he spent
- 15:17the whole season alternating between my team and your team,
- 15:19Josh. You picked him up like you
- 15:23outbid me when I originally wanted to grab him and then I
- 15:26waited and then eventually you dropped him.
- 15:28He had a little like a week long slump and then I grabbed him and
- 15:30held on to him for the rest of the season.
- 15:32He he, he was like, I think the sneakiest guy on that Columbus
- 15:36team, right? Because he was like the the
- 15:37first guy to get bumped if things were going wrong.
- 15:40Yeah. So he was kind of always on
- 15:41that, that, that cusp. But as long as he had the
- 15:45deployment he was producing. Yeah, really.
- 15:49He also at times played centre and he's never as impactful
- 15:53offensively when he did that this year.
- 15:56If you have like a healthy Monahan and Fantilli and he's
- 15:58playing next to Fantilli, who was finished the year really,
- 16:01really well, I really think that he can go and do a lot of great
- 16:06things. I also don't see Boone Jenner
- 16:08necessarily having a stable on that power play 1, so Veronica
- 16:11ends up there. Should be line one power play
- 16:14one. That's where he was last year.
- 16:15They really like missed the net front guy on power play one.
- 16:17Line one, it was him, Monaghan and Marchinko, the Russian lines
- 16:20with Mona Hanov. But yeah, I mean, there's no
- 16:24reason for him to get bumped off.
- 16:26You know, obviously, like they start the season and if he they
- 16:28don't do well, you know, then anything's possible.
- 16:30But he's gonna get the shot for sure.
- 16:32I, I, I think he gets the deployment and you'll have to
- 16:35monitor, you know, what the lines look like when you're
- 16:38financially draft comes on. But I don't expect Jenna to be
- 16:41the line 1 left wing. I think he ends up probably
- 16:44being either a line 2 winger or line 3C and I don't think he he
- 16:50gets the power play 1 foot Jenner.
- 16:51So I expect Voronkov to have great deployment this year and I
- 16:54think it's gonna be a sneaky guy at the end of your fantasy
- 16:56drafts. He's one of the best leaders, I
- 16:58think, alright #5. Alright, this is a fun one at #5
- 17:05We've got Zieve Boyum of the Minnesota Wild last year.
- 17:09Stats. Zero regular season game play.
- 17:11Regular season games played so not much to report there.
- 17:15It's only up from here. Exactly, but even though he put
- 17:19up straight zeros in the regular season by not playing, he did
- 17:23play in the playoffs and he got to be power play one over Faber
- 17:26in his brief stint. So that's a really interesting.
- 17:29He was the 12th overall pick in 24.
- 17:30Sorry JK I took your line and if you can keep power play one with
- 17:35guys like Capri, solve, boldy and friends then he should be a
- 17:38great late pick. Yeah, You know, Josh likes to
- 17:43say follow that money, except for in the case of Faber,
- 17:47apparently he's got a pretty big contract.
- 17:49And like they're like he, like Boyum literally did not play a
- 17:52game in the regular season in the playoffs, which is a huge
- 17:55test. They decided to put in power
- 17:57play. One like that shows that this is
- 17:59obviously where they want him to be.
- 18:01Yeah, I don't. Expect anything for late back
- 18:04categories at all. Shots, hits, blogs, probably
- 18:08nothing. But hey, I mean if you get a
- 18:10defenseman getting 50 points in their rookie year even with
- 18:14negligible back cuts and basically what, a 12th ROM pick
- 18:19maybe I think even later. He could be like a Lane Hudson
- 18:21Light. Oh yeah, absolutely.
- 18:23Which everyone would have been very happy with last year.
- 18:28The one thing with a William is, is I don't.
- 18:33I feel like there's a part of me that really believes that
- 18:36there's a chance he doesn't end up in the NHL the whole season.
- 18:39Like let's not forget they they traded for now I'm blanking on
- 18:45the name, but they traded for David Yurachek, who was a young
- 18:49stud defenseman that kind of like busted on Columbus.
- 18:54We expected huge things from him and Columbus.
- 18:56He gets to Minnesota. He doesn't even make the lineup.
- 18:58So I don't know if that's a your check thing or is it just like
- 19:01young defensemen not named Brock favor?
- 19:03They can't really trust him because they're defensive course
- 19:05is pretty old. He's going to be playing with
- 19:07Jared Spurgeon, who is obviously very experienced and I think
- 19:11that's a really good way to balance out his pairing.
- 19:13But it's really all about the give you 1 If you're on people,
- 19:15you one with mad Baldy and and Kaprizov like you're going to
- 19:20get some points. I, I just feel like you have to,
- 19:24I, I think he's gonna get pushed down into ADP just because it's
- 19:28a little squishy, the situation. Yeah, for sure.
- 19:30I mean, obviously if he doesn't play then you know, that's a
- 19:33draw. Anybody's not on power play one
- 19:35that's a drop because he's not gonna contribute anything
- 19:37fantasy wise. Really the main reason that we
- 19:40have him on here as a sleeper is because of the fact they played
- 19:43him in the playoffs and put in power play one over favor.
- 19:45If they if that hadn't happened, I wouldn't even suspected that
- 19:48would they would do that, you know, because like Jagger said,
- 19:50I always say follow that money, you know.
- 19:51So I would have thought Faber was that guy, but I guess they
- 19:54view him as more of a defensive defenseman.
- 19:55Cheers. Liam is more of a pure offensive
- 19:57guy, so in those situations it's very possible for the guy to
- 20:00come in and take power. Play 1.
- 20:02That's the thing. Minnesota doesn't have like an
- 20:03offensive guide to even Spurgeon was P1 defensive for a stretch,
- 20:08and he's not that guy either, right?
- 20:10So they really need somebody like this.
- 20:12So I think we're gonna give an opportunity to succeed.
- 20:14I just feel like he's the type of player that probably gets
- 20:18drafted too high in your fantasy leagues where it doesn't add up
- 20:21to the value. Like if you draft them around
- 20:2312, I think it's a little too early.
- 20:24Yeah, don't reach, especially the year check thing like you
- 20:27mentioned is kind of weird. But maybe it's just a year check
- 20:30thing. Yeah, I think, boys.
- 20:32Just not be panning out. Yeah, Boyum's the the plan, but
- 20:37I wouldn't reach. I agree.
- 20:38Next four are interesting because these are all super
- 20:41banger league potential. Like they're amazing for banger
- 20:45leagues. Let's dive into.
- 20:46The have a fun. Night song don't Call My Name,
- 20:49Don't Call My Name number. So and at #4 we've got don't
- 20:56Call My Name, Ryan Donato, yeah, who put up last year, his best
- 21:00season .78 points per game, 2.3 shots, 1.3 hits.
- 21:04And he won our hearts, yeah. All three of our hearts.
- 21:10Most importantly, to give you an idea of how much of A breakout
- 21:13year this was, he literally got twice as many points as his
- 21:17previous best. So his previous best was 31
- 21:20points in 2022, and last year you got 62.
- 21:23So he's only 29 years old, had a double his previous record
- 21:27season, and he's gonna be stapled to Bidart online.
- 21:29One power play, one that's another.
- 21:31This is one of these guys who, like only the guy who had him on
- 21:34his team last year is gonna remember him during the draft,
- 21:36you know, or if you listen here. Do we think Chicago is gonna be
- 21:42somewhat significantly better than they were last?
- 21:44Year. No, they're not gonna be worse.
- 21:46And they're gonna be like bottom 2-3 team.
- 21:50Yeah, they're just gonna be more fun to watch.
- 21:51Like there's gonna be more hope, but standings wise, I think
- 21:54they're gonna stay the bottom feeder.
- 21:55They're not ready to take that step yet.
- 21:57That's not a bad thing. That's just not.
- 21:58Where they are more goals scored though.
- 22:00I'm just asking because we got two players here on Chicago, on
- 22:05our, yeah, on Chicago in the sleeper list.
- 22:07And then we also have Bedard with like breakout candidates,
- 22:11right? I mean, yeah, all these are.
- 22:13And I agree wholeheartedly with all these.
- 22:15So that's a good sign. I think what's really exciting
- 22:19about Chicago is all their assets besides Bodart are cheap,
- 22:22like for fantasy, like you're not dropping them at a high cost
- 22:26like playing with Donato. The rest of the top 6 is
- 22:30Burakovsky, Bertuzzi, Naser and Turbine.
- 22:32And like, all these guys are going to be drafted late in the
- 22:35double it runs in your fantasy leagues and some of them are
- 22:38gonna be way more valuable than that, right?
- 22:39Because align align one, no winger playing on PP one and a
- 22:44double digit rounds in your fantasy leagues is nuts.
- 22:46And like you're not dropping Donato pretty early, but I have
- 22:49a, I have a couple. Would you rathers Granato or
- 22:53Ivan Demidov? Demidov.
- 22:56And never know. OK.
- 22:57OK, Ryan. Saying that, maybe.
- 23:00That's honestly. What about responsible single
- 23:04in? Then add overstand coven.
- 23:06I think so too, Denado. OK, Donato or Mark Stone, I just
- 23:13wanted to make you guys laugh. Don.
- 23:17I think that I will probably. End up being better ohhhhh
- 23:19that's right that's funny it's. Donato or Jonathan Huberdeau.
- 23:23Donato, NATO. Close well there you go so I
- 23:26feel like you know these are guys you're drifting around
- 23:28131415 anos going after this so I feel like he's going to be a
- 23:32target for most people in the end of your drafts.
- 23:34If you're listening to this podcast, you want good advice,
- 23:37so keep that in mind when you're.
- 23:39Driving, I think that's a great one.
- 23:42Alright for dress. Alright, this one I'm actually
- 23:47very excited about. I think he could be huge.
- 23:50We've got Owen Tippett of the Philadelphia Flyers.
- 23:53Last year he put up only .56 points per game, 2.4 shots and
- 23:571.5 hits. But we've shown we've he's shown
- 24:01that he could be that volume shooter and hitter.
- 24:03He's coming off a down year where Tortorella was still
- 24:06coach. Tortorella is gone.
- 24:08He should be on power. Play one with Mitch who's going
- 24:10to break out even more. All the signs are pointing to
- 24:12Tippit being a bangers beast this year.
- 24:14I really want him in my draft if I can get him at the right
- 24:17price. Yeah, I love this.
- 24:20He's gonna be a guy that's drafted away later than the
- 24:22value that he's getting. Just because we've seen him do
- 24:24it in the past. It's not like we're projecting
- 24:26that much, right? Like we've seen him be that guy
- 24:28already. It's just Tortorello used to
- 24:30bounce him in and out of the lineup, up and down the lineup.
- 24:33I think with some consistency, he and the volume, if he gets
- 24:37the volume, he's going to be sick for fantasy.
- 24:39I think it's gonna be a career year for him.
- 24:41Like he's never cracked 60 points and it's all signs point
- 24:45towards that being possible. He was a really decent player on
- 24:49Florida, but he just was never able to do that.
- 24:51And then Tortorella, as we spoke about, was just him and Rod are
- 24:55always competing for who's worse.
- 24:56Yeah. It's true, I mean.
- 24:59It for fantasy 4 fantasy, not for actual NHL.
- 25:03Yeah, they've also got like a quietly sick team Philly like.
- 25:08They have. I don't know.
- 25:09Awesome lines, no? They have a.
- 25:11Fun. Quietly fun.
- 25:13Yeah, even Line 3 like Tyson Forrester, Noah Katz, Bobby
- 25:17Brink, like no one thinks about these guys ever and there except
- 25:20for their loved ones and parents.
- 25:24And plus on this podcast. Yeah, but like he said, loved
- 25:27ones. Already, that's not bad.
- 25:29I'm like, I think it's going to be really, really fun to to
- 25:33watch this team this year and they can surprise and like maybe
- 25:37just just miss out on the playoffs.
- 25:39And so doing tip it, good player, maybe 60 points there.
- 25:42And with the bangers categories, I love it.
- 25:44Absolutely love it. Yeah, I don't think they're
- 25:47gonna be doing the teams gonna be that good, but I'm very high
- 25:49on Tibet. I think last year we saw him
- 25:51also, he was like a buy low candidate for a while because
- 25:54his shooting percentage was absolutely disgusting.
- 25:56For somebody that shoots as often as he does and not getting
- 25:59any goals. We're going to expect that to
- 26:01change this year and he's going to go back to, you know, his
- 26:04probably career average shooting percentage, if not a little
- 26:06better. Do you take Tippit or Michkov
- 26:09this year? Mitch got.
- 26:12This is just the way you said about the responsible pick with
- 26:15Demidov Donato before. Like that's how I feel like I I
- 26:18think the responsible pick is tip it.
- 26:20But Mitch. Calls really I think Mitkov has
- 26:23a way higher point ceiling and that's why I would take Mitch
- 26:27cover tip, even though tip is getting the category coverage a
- 26:29little better. Yeah, I think Mitch Cobb is just
- 26:32too valuable in terms of points. He's gotta get 15 plus more
- 26:35points I think to be. Killed gets 50 points I think.
- 26:37Really probably gets over 75 points this year.
- 26:40I'd be willing to be your bed that I think tip.
- 26:42It probably gets around 60 to 65.
- 26:44Those guys, for me, the biggest question is, is does Michkov
- 26:47shoot? That's because if he's getting
- 26:49like if that, if it's a 15 points difference, but Mitch is
- 26:52getting like no shots and Tits getting like 3 plus shots and
- 26:55like two hits, then I'm going to tip it, you know?
- 26:57But if Michkov is getting the points with the shots and the
- 26:59only difference is that hits, then yeah, go Michkov.
- 27:01Would you rather tip it or Pavel Buchnevich?
- 27:04Tibet. Tibet.
- 27:06OK. And Bush is going to get more
- 27:08points. But yeah, tip the back hats are
- 27:10just a huge difference. Yes, let's talk about these last
- 27:13two. I feel like together because
- 27:15we've already spoken about them previously on a breakout
- 27:19candidates. So once again, we're gonna talk
- 27:20about #2 Morgan, Geeky and number one Will Cooley, Jakey's
- 27:25favorite player in the whole league.
- 27:30I knew Jake was gonna be so happy, like how angry he was at
- 27:33me for putting Ovechkin as a trap a few weeks ago.
- 27:36Putting Cooley as #1 on the sleepers I knew would make his
- 27:39day. So.
- 27:41Just had the. All those forgiven, you are
- 27:45amazing. Not that any of us get too
- 27:46emotionally attached to our players.
- 27:50The 2 Not at all. I love Will Cooley so much in
- 27:55every way, no. Sorry, that was very he just
- 27:59loves the way he moves on the ice.
- 28:00Yeah, exactly. That he could do physically.
- 28:03Yeah, let me tell you. He could do that to Jakey any
- 28:07day. Yeah, I, I think there's, I
- 28:11don't think there's necessarily even a tear break amongst these
- 28:13guys because I think they're both awesome on teams that are
- 28:16gonna be better this year. I believe in Rangers way more
- 28:19than the Bruins, but Geeky's gonna have a larger role with
- 28:22the Bruins then Cooley will with the Rangers.
- 28:24Nevertheless, I think that Cooley is that line 2 left wing,
- 28:28no doubt about it. And Geeky is going to be playing
- 28:30with Pastor, not going, very few players to play with that it's
- 28:34better for your fantasy value. So these two guys easily #1 and
- 28:392 on this list I find. I know I said Casper's got the
- 28:42potential to hit the highest points, but for all intents and
- 28:45purposes, I love this one and two.
- 28:47Yeah, I think the biggest difference for me is Geeky's got
- 28:51that power play one over Cooley, but Cooley's gonna get like
- 28:53three times the hits. So it's really just a different
- 28:56type of player. I want to say one thing for
- 28:57Cooley that made me really hyped about him and put him at #1 is I
- 29:00read an interview with Sullivan, who's the new coach for the
- 29:03Rangers, where he said he was asked what's like the biggest,
- 29:05you know, surprise or whatever from the team you're coming
- 29:08into, like from watching the tape.
- 29:10And he said, yeah, I was watching.
- 29:11There are some Rangers games that I hadn't, you know, caught
- 29:13last year because I wasn't Rangers coach.
- 29:15And he said the biggest surprise to him was how much he was
- 29:18impressed by Will Cooley. So when your coach says that
- 29:21about you, that's just a really good sign.
- 29:23That means he's going, even though he's not, get power, play
- 29:25one, He's going to get really good deployment, gonna get good
- 29:26ice time, good teammates at even strength.
- 29:28And he's a hitting beast. So I'm very excited for him.
- 29:31I mean, he is arguably the best manager in the league not named
- 29:34queue for Sherwood, right? So as long as as long as he's
- 29:38still doing that, he's gonna be very valuable.
- 29:40I expect him to take a point step up this year than he was
- 29:43last year, like last year was at 0.55 points per game and this
- 29:46was mostly with third line minutes and no power play
- 29:48exposure. This year, I expect him to be
- 29:51probably maybe close to 0.65, which would be a good jump for
- 29:54the type of player you're getting.
- 29:55His shots could be a little better.
- 29:57I think if I had to pick between him and geeky in a bangers
- 30:01league. I still think I go will Cooley
- 30:03just because of like how unique it is to have that high level of
- 30:08good volume. Jake like smiling as he is.
- 30:10He just thrilled idea. But I was gonna say what's
- 30:13really cool about Morgan geeking?
- 30:14I wanna give him his flowers as well.
- 30:16He's probably one of the best players in the league for
- 30:20fantasy that is going to have line 1P1 and go this late in
- 30:24your draft. I think there's not many guys
- 30:26are going to have the same level of deployment playing with a guy
- 30:28that's going to get over 100 points.
- 30:30We know possibly get over 100 points and he's tied to the hip
- 30:32with Morgan geeky. So I think he's going to be
- 30:35sneaky, sneaky value. His ADP is so low you can get
- 30:38him seeking your dress. Sneaky geeky.
- 30:41That could be his new nickname. But yeah, just very excited
- 30:44about both of these guys. I feel like they're very
- 30:45attainable in your dress as well.
- 30:47Even if you take them a few rounds ahead of ADP, they'll
- 30:49still be a bargain. Who's gonna get more points this
- 30:52year, Will Cooley or Tom Wilson? Tom Wilson.
- 30:55Wilson, Yeah. We want your better, Jackie.
- 30:58Yes, Wow, you're crazy. Double, double or nothing.
- 31:02Geeky, I remember you looking at your beer best last year.
- 31:04Just be like, oh man, that was crazy starting off on.
- 31:09This this is the new me. Here you're saying.
- 31:14Do it. We're doing it.
- 31:15So that means that. Was thinking about Kevin.
- 31:18Point breeding basis Tom Wilson gets more points than Will
- 31:21Cooley. Here.
- 31:22Wait, if I lose? No, that doesn't make sense.
- 31:27Yeah, point point per game base is fine.
- 31:29PG Well, yeah, of course. Yeah, yeah, that works.
- 31:33I guess that wraps it up y'all. You're not to say either way,
- 31:36whether you're geeky or you're cool, you're still gonna do well
- 31:39in your drafts. That was off the dove, OK.
- 31:46Wait, so are you both involved in this beer bat?
- 31:48Yes, we are both involved in this beer bet.
- 31:50Alright, you're. Talking, trying to be involved
- 31:51in every single year, but this year.
- 31:55And then that episode is going to be lit.
- 31:58Yeah. F word lit.
- 32:02And also, you know, as we're wrapping up, listen to our
- 32:05previous episodes if you haven't already.
- 32:06We've covered power forwards. We covered breakout candidates
- 32:09we covered. What else did we cover?
- 32:11We cover. We covered.
- 32:12Stuff. Stuff.
- 32:14Top 10. A lot of top 10's and more to
- 32:17come. Yeah, trap players, breakout
- 32:20candidates, power forwards, biggest offseason trades, a lot
- 32:24of signings, like we really, really went through it and.
- 32:26Like it could be made into a top ten, then we're gonna do it.
- 32:29Yeah, we're gonna cover all the positions as well.
- 32:32You know, top 10 centres, left wings, right wings, defensemen,
- 32:34goalies. Like stay tuned for that.
- 32:35We're gonna cover all of it. Yeah, maybe even next week we'll
- 32:38do a top 10 replacement for swear Word words.
- 32:41And then after we do a top ten of our top 10 episodes.
- 32:44Wow, that's crazy. David Letterman would be proud.
