Transcript
- 0:02[SPEAKER_00]: Hi folks.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the episode of Film Study.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: We're back for part two of our discussion of the offense from that big win in the first preseason game.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: Joining me again is Nick Metta Nick.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: How you doing?
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: Doing great.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that it's so interesting to have.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: So many different young players that talk about our offense and we really hasn't felt like the Ravens have had before.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_01]: They're, you know, in every different position group, there's two or three young players to really highlight and see what they brought out of the preseason and talking about what they can bring right away, not just, oh, we'll look in this guy development to become later down the line.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_01]: We're talking about potential starting center for the 20, 26 Ravens and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and
- 0:43[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes can be a little worrying, but, you know, in that example, but the wide receiver position, the tight end position, just, you know, a lot of excitement there.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's interesting because the, uh, the,
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: And the center competition, and this is honestly one of the problems, is all three of those guys are older players.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: So including Gwen, even though he's only got 11 career staffs, he's a fourth-year player, and the Ravens will lose them to eventually to free agency at the end of the year.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: After this game, by the way, we're going to talk about him in just a second.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's probably my biggest concern right now with Gwen, and it's really unfair to lose him at the end of the year.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think you might have to get a little ahead of yourself, Ken, but could possibly be.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: One thing we want to talk about was the exotic looks in what happened in this game and talk about, you know, what coaches do during the pre-season.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: There was very, very little on offense, and just to give a few high level notes said, like no ponyback field at all, so nothing with two running backs, at 80 snaps, 80 single running backs, they had no OL-60 entire game.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: They had 1.44 tight ends per play, that includes Scott in there who's listed as a full back, but he's a tight end.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: And they had 2.56 wide receivers per play, which is slightly up from last year's pre-season, and probably could be up more to the regular season.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, not using a full back means you're going to use less heavies, and they have to go somewhere, so you have to go to a wide receiver or a tight end or to a well-six.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this was nothing surprising to me.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think even the Ravens haven't really didn't feature at all six very much last year.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: They did a lot more in 2024.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: Really don't think it's something that we've seen in either of the past two, maybe even even the past three training camps, just not something that you see them.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: put out there on the practice field, and the coaches talk about this.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: They don't want to give away what they're doing.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think Doyle, especially coming in first-time coordinator, first his first full-time play calling gig, not wanting to put too much out there on film for other folks to see other teams to see.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: But then of course there's just the fact that these are also a lot of younger players and so there's an extent to which you do want to simplify things for them to allow their skill sets to shine a little bit more than giving them things that are too complicated.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: I think this is, you know, what you're describing, no pony and just the kind of simplicity of the approach in general is probably one of the reasons why the offensive operation was so clean at the line description.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I buy that that you know, you're using very familiar formations and stuff.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: If I were to give one other reason why they never get away from standard place that's more apparent on defense, why they would do this is they have a set number of players they need to look at those position groups are largely filled up in line with kind of more standard formations 12 and 11 primarily.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: So you have enough tight ends.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: You want to see a certain amount of 12 and you can afford to see a certain amount of 11 to see all your wider severs get the plate too.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: So you need to do that.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: One running back is usually enough to get everybody enough playing time.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: If you put a OL6 on the field, then that's taking away from one of those other positions.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: And so they don't have to do that.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: And that works on defense suit in this game.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: They play 100% base and nickel.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: uh... they did very little with the past rush that was uh... surprising they rushed four or five every single play and they did some blitz is some stunts in some simulated pressure there's a little bit of rotation or what not is actually some good video out about that or not now but uh... they did very very little that was of a giving away the playbook nature in this game for the defense and and that's exactly what they did last year by the way to under harborses
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's all standard, you know, every other team can pull up all of your pre-season tape and good work for anything's out.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: And the goal is to not give them anything to see.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, very much true.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's move on.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_00]: I did score three offensive linemen.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: I want to talk about them two of them at a very brief high level.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: Get your thoughts on the play of them.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: But Carson Vincent had a fairly good game.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: He ended up allowing
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: Six different pressure events that he was a part of.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: It was a third of a quarterback hit, which is a minus one and five pressures.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: He only missed two blocks, which was nice in a 62 play 62 scored plays.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think he might have had 66 naps in total.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: If you look at the gamebook or something, but one of the steps was lost to video.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, the video, the crappy preseason broadcasts in the game just they weren't on the field when they needed to be.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, I lose a playoff, it's a blind.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: I did get to see what caught the football at the end of the play.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I just got to see the tackle being made, but I didn't get to see the offensive blind play on that snap.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not bitter at all though.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: So I just want to keep your identity a secret.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_01]: Okay?
- 5:35[SPEAKER_01]: They're not find out who you are.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, Vincent, I thought his problems were as a pass blocker, not as a run blocker, which was nice.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he's actually really effective there, but you know, he's going to make it a break it in this league as a pass blocker and a C with adjustment for him just at a very high level.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to go to all the things.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: If you want more detail on what Carson who Carson missed against, it's all out there in the offensive article.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: Can I ask you one question, Ken, did you thought like he had a lot of slow winds or his winds were quicker?
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: or sorry, losses, was he losing slowly or was he losing quicker?
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: Because it didn't feel like he had a lot of times or he was just be completely off the snap.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: So that's always something I'm looking for.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I completely agree with that by the way.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think he had more slow death wins and those would play very well with Walmart Jackson and something with Roddy Stanley's always been good at, yeah, I thought you might be getting it that.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, anyway, not a bad game at all from Carson and I came into this preseason thinking he was not going to get a lot of snaps now the tackle situation says yeah he's going to get a lot of snaps because they can afford to sit in they need to get through the preseason, but
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: He could come close again to leaving the league.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: Lichtenhand might actually leave the league in Stax this year, based on what we've seen so far, but Carson Vincent was right up there within a Stap or two of the entire league lead last year, and looks like he could get a lot of Staps again.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the Ravens I think really are started like they really like Vincent and it's interesting to carry over from more hop and almost felt like times I think you know to this a couple times you almost felt like war hop to pet project a little bit last year and to see him carry over and and obviously there's a lot that led for him has to offer him a lead for us on a great job in Atlanta with those tackles as it.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: Jake Matthews and then Caleb Garry done a great job with them for many years.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: I thought I've always thought that's one of the more underrated Tackle duos in the NFL and Vincent has all of the physical and athletic traits that you need.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: It really is just a matter of a young guy getting playing time So I actually was expecting to play a quite maybe not lead the NFL and snaps necessarily But I was expecting him to get a lot of a lot of burn in these games just because the Ravens are hoping
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: that he doesn't have to get that much run in the regular season, obviously with probably Stanley, there's always, always somewhat of a wrist there, but otherwise these are really, really crucial developmental snaps for him.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: I agree with that.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: I kind of am of a mind that balancing that between availability during the season, which is critical for Vincent that is important.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, let's move on.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk about Emory Jones a little bit.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: He really struggled throughout the night.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: are the greatest in F.S.R.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: Lookout on the online.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: He did not miss a D by too much.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: He was about 4.4 point short of a D for what it's worth.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: It does matter because the F range is very broad, relative to other grade levels.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: But started with the very first series.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: He had three consecutive plays where he was involved in a past rush event.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'll let you look that up if you like.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: And he struggled on the left side.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: He was very good on the right side.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: So once he moved over there, he played a lot better.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think he got beat by Ty Robison prospect, I really like last year.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: I'll just get that out there on the record.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: I also thought, and I could be wrong here, Ken, I thought he got beat once by the and now I'm planking on the young man's name, the heroes, the defensive tackle from Africa, which country in Africa, not Joshua Weir, the other, you are Bernard.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that he, like, bold over Emory Jones on one rep to.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it's maybe it might have even been the snap that you missed, but I thought I called that as well And that was that was just an example of absolutely freakish size and speed against you know a guy who like size and explosiveness against Jones who is a you know Stout guy.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_01]: He's got that pear-shaped guard build as you like to say But he just got bold over by a guy playing what was like maybe his first
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: first, second, third professional football snap, high-level football snap, not even kind of college.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: That was a tough look, if I'm remembering that correctly.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_01]: But other than that, like you said, played a lot better on the right side.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: I think it just lends Crian's the idea that sometimes players often some while I'm an arduous, better up one side or the other.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: You did have a couple of misses on that first series in three in total at the left tackle.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: I'm liking on the snap here and I have the names of course of who he was up against in the article and I'm not matching on that.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: So Bernard, you say, I'll take a look at that.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you are Bernard.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: Could have been snap you missed.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: I could have been.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's could have been 61, 51 pounds.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: Jones kind of situation.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: Any number of things.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: But I thought I remember seeing that.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: And that was just, wow, this is every Jones who's got three years of SEC ball from the age of 19 years old and he's in the NFL in his third year now.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: And he just got demolished by a guy who put on pad for the first time last week.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: So not, not the best look if, again, if I'm remembering that correctly, it apologies if I don't.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: It could well be your right and it could have been lots of reasons, but anyway information on Joseph's out in the article if you want that not not a game he's going to be showing to his grandkids.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: But Javan Gwyn was the offensive line star of this game and by a wide margin, outstanding performance only had one negative event, the entire game, and that was he and Jones together on a double team try to stop Blay and they gave a half pressure to him, he pushed
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: I would say easily, but perhaps a pressure, he missed only three blocks, only one of those was the loss of the line of scrimmage yet other play where I think he tripped entering level two, another one where he missed a block in level two.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: He had six blocks in level two, so that's a good connection rate by the way once he got there.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: delivered four pancakes.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, first of all, it's just starters.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_00]: Once the last time a raven center has delivered four pancakes in again, they just have anybody with that kind of physicality.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_00]: That takes at least two things.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: One is you got a guy who can actually handle that kind of physicality and probably place was good technique in level two and isn't one G to deliver some pancakes.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_00]: The second part is you got an offensive line coach who wants to see that.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: I think we saw on Saturday night, why Duane Ledford brought you a Von Guid with hemp from Atlanta.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_01]: And you can go deeper into the psychological elements of the confidence that that can give a guy like Guid with Ledford tells him, hey, come on, we got a center competition, I'm throwing you in there.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: But man, the ability to get to level two, I thought was really just exceptional and seeing that that want to that finish really and again, we were talking, you know, first part of the spot gas pass protection more important.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, it's really what I'm I'm waiting this center competition on but he can from kind of like that visceral level is High goodness.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_01]: This guy was shot out of a cannon on some of these plays getting a field and hunting down these Poor linebackers who really just I'm not even sure they knew what they were in a form when he came out on the field because he surprised me
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: one plate of look at and you know all of us probably this week have seen um... broader gwashington get embarrassed by really lamp game from this game and it's it's kind of the eagles highlight from the game you know it's that that wildly yeah uh... there's there really isn't much else there's some place from paid night of one of minimize the thing but anyway uh... the play in this game that gwinn is highlighted i'm sure why this is all over the internet right now look at q two three forty four
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: Right tackle right guard off that area and he combos up the level two and He has in his sights smile-mondon now smile-mondon was a linebacker that we you'll remember his name from the draft a couple of years Because it looks kind of like snail, but it's pronounced smile and he was on a lot of people's list of the top 10 and what not of guys that that You know, we're draftable and not a slouch played a Georgia in the SEC and
- 13:53[SPEAKER_00]: quit moved up to level two and first he hit him and he was connected to him and then as he was passed he throws him to the ground.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_00]: I mean almost look like holding or something but he just ragged off into the ground in a way you just don't see a center do and you know the I was just standing up and cheering at that not at that moment but on the moment I saw it on TV when I got home you know it's very excited about it
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's just not the kind of thing we've seen from Tara Linderbobb, a really any Ravenciner dating back to Ryan Jensen.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe he's the last guy who I think of, who brought that kind of an edge.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_01]: And what you like to see in Gwyn is that it's not just uncontrolled aggression.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_01]: It really felt like he was on top of his technique at all times.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_01]: There were never any times where he was like out over his skis and off balance.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen a lot of players who are
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like all like this guy can get to level two.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it can get to level two.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: Can he make the hit in level two and so as you point it out six blocks in level two and four of those being pancakes Just just a phenomenal result for a guy who Has been kind of talked about talked about and talked about but he really really arrived on Saturday
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, honestly, there was almost no tape of Javan going to look at before this.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_00]: Now, we've literally hexed two pulled, hexed, two pulled, whatever is it.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: Multiplying it by six, the amount of total tape we have to watch with the 11 steps before and another 54 in this one, 51, 51, whatever it was.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_00]: In this one, to look at, we've got a lot more video here, most of it's this remarkable stuff.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: you know what I saw I saw hand placement was outstanding I thought it was very violent.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_00]: I love guys who can position their feet and in particular when you're a center or a guard, the right guard probably has the greatest responsibilities in terms of opening the front gate on run place but in a zone system it could be anywhere that a guy is creating the cutback lane for it and and when looks like he really has the part.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_00]: I got to say one thing I was concerned about was
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: I thought Ledford picked the guy, I think this is true of Pintura, and I think it's maybe even more true of Gwen, who was a scheme fit.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was more true of Gwen.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: But watching Gwen play, that's not just about scheme fit.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_00]: There's a hell of a lot of talent here in terms of what this guy brings to the table.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm more excited about it.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I actually, my marginally relieved that Ledford didn't bring a guy that was just a scheme fit with him, that would have been much more concerning in terms of broad set of things you might do
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, he brought he just brought one of his, one of his guys, and I know that we're going to get a little bit more in the coaching staff later, one thing about win than I just want to mention, I think I think this was during the first part of the show you mentioned it, so I'll bring them up again, this was not a case where the Eagles were playing their started defensive tackles and they're, you know, number two, three guys for the first two series and then sitting them.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_01]: They really rotated all these guys throughout the game, and so he's getting tyraments in, you know, a number of times throughout this game, and that's not easy match up.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's a prospect when I like the lot, really good coaching, Philadelphia, they've done a good job of coaching up their defensive tackles there.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: And so this wasn't a case of a guy getting a lot of easy reps against, you know, third, fourth practice squad player, third, fourth strain practice squad players either.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they set out three big guys for the game.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_00]: They set out as a jamo.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_00]: They set out Carter and they start out Davis.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_00]: And those are three terrific football players.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: But like the Ravens, who have terrific football players at the top of their defensive tackle and nose tackle depth chart, the Eagles also have a good bunch of good backups as well.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_00]: And they got to play in this game and take out their anger and frustration with being never Tuesday, the threes and camp.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a Raven's offensive lineman and it is a good set of players and I had actually reported it incorrectly that I thought there were changes but anyway I was wrong about that there's definitely it was the same guys rotating throughout the game Anyway, at this point let's put a capstone on this win discussion here for a second is I see this is vaulting him into the lead of the center competition
- 18:07[SPEAKER_00]: is it possible that I'm just completely wrong about that?
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: You see those vaulting, so what do you mean by that?
- 18:13[SPEAKER_01]: Do you mean that the Ravens will fall with in the top of the center of competition?
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: Or is he the player you believe should be number one of the cops?
- 18:21[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mean, first of all, if he's the player, I believe, then there wouldn't be any question over the thing because my belief you can't dispute with me.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_00]: I, you know, I, I, I, I'm the only one to just to choose that, but, but it meant I, I think that he should be number one and I think the Ravens are going to have a very hard time explaining it if they don't elevate his responsibility level, which we kind of talked about in the first show, but he's got to get something more.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_00]: After a performance like this, whether it means, you know, he starts the next game or whether it means he plays a higher percentage of the reps against the Vikings in these live practices or whatever it might be.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think the, I think the live practice against the Vikings would probably be his chance to cement what he did on Saturday and stake his claim for, you know, more first team work.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_01]: against in Minnesota in the second preseason game.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_01]: But it's hard.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I'm still stuck in this mode of all we've been through this song a dance with Harbaugh in the Gars in past years.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_01]: But this is not, you know, this is not that team.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: This is not, you know, this is that they're focused on accountability and standards.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: Again, he's led for his guy and so you could even argue that this is led for his opportunity to say, see, I told you, so I got told you I had the guy that you needed and involved him into a higher spot.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, whether or not he gets the official star, I think would, you know, say some, I even think, you know, does he get any snaps with, you know, the rest of the extended first team, so to speak.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's it could occur.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_00]: I've got to imagine I think of the Vince McMahon strutting out meme, you know, in terms of, that's what leadford must look like around the building on Monday, you know, about when they walk out of the film room.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I'm happy with himself about the thing, but anyway, great, great, great, great, uh, uh,
- 20:07[SPEAKER_00]: player to bring along with him for Atlanta.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_00]: A couple of things other about the offensive line I did want to just mention really quickly.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_00]: I thought they did a good job of leveraging their big advantage in snap count.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_00]: They really played a lot better as the game went on.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_00]: And since it was a lot of the same players who were having to get 80 snaps in even though they're, you know,
- 20:27[SPEAKER_00]: You still play a number of stats in a row.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_00]: The Ravens had basically all long drives.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, here's one of the really amazing statistics.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_00]: Before the last drive of the game, where they had one first down, then they nailed it down.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_00]: They had at least two first downs on every single drive, the whole game.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_00]: They had 31 first downs in total.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_00]: They led 30 to two in first downs with five minutes to play.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_00]: I saw that on the scoreboard.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_00]: I was too slow to get a picture of it, but I would have loved to post that.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, that's like a John Harbour level preseason dominant, right?
- 21:00[SPEAKER_00]: All of this was the kind of defensive depth that the Ravens have used very regularly to win win preseason games that they had a little bit of offensive depth to go with it too in this one.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_00]: All right, we'll we'll get into some other coaching things in a little bit.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_00]: That'll do it for the offensive line.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_00]: Let's move on a little bit the running backs, not a you're not an unusual difference in expectation of workload Randall had 36 of the snaps 12 carries two targets to tell over 20 snaps 10 carries two targets and Mcmillan 24 snaps and nine carries pretty much everybody got their chance to kick to to to the rock.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_00]: They work through the game with three guys and they got Randall a really nice run up play.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was expecting, honestly, maybe a little bit more from Randall, both in terms of his usage and how he performed.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I know he had had the most snaps in the receiver room, but still only the 12 carries.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: So it was just a little underwhelming from him, but against the preseason, it's really not much right home out.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: So guys, probably really not going to do a whole lot this year, as a rookie treat to be told.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we've seen him in camp and he's been one of the really impressive players.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_00]: He showed great burst and actually some really unexpected cutting ability that I thought was a higher level.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_00]: He's not keeping Mitchell as a cutter, but he's a guy who could distinctly make a one-cut no, he's gone already kind of thing.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_00]: There's also he's built like Derek Henry, he's a big high-cut muscular back and not nobody's built entirely like Derek Henry, but you know, if you're built like a mini-derek Henry, that's a good thing.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_00]: And other defensive players don't want to get at in front of him and level two, it could be a season ending problem for them if they do.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, I thought he'd look great in camp.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_00]: The one play where I thought he did really look in this game was on the 4-yard touchdown run.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_00]: He really broke two tackles at the 4-yard line to get it in the end zone.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_00]: Let's move on.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk about any other players you'd like to.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_00]: Now we've got a few minutes here.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to talk about some other things about coaching, the mailbag, and whatnot.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_00]: But we're going to have a player that you'd like to talk about.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe we haven't hit on so far.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_00]: It was like, you know, I really like this about him.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we didn't talk about Lane actually that much in the first half, and I think the thing that has really impressed me about him is his translation from, you know, highlight plays in camp.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_01]: had the pads on, and the pads come on, Lane's been quite good in pads at training camp, but I've been very impressed with his ability to play through contact, his play strength, and we saw that on the touchdown, but they've invited me through these tackles and using his lane to extend into the end zone.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think one of my concerns about him coming in was just, he just kind of looks like a rail thin guy, and you worry about his ability to operate over the middle of the field in the NFL, there were some catches early in training camp or I had in my notes,
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, that's a great catch over the middle.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: Malachi Starks and our Kyle Hamilton was winding up to put you in the hospital if that's a live rep. And the fact that we saw him do this, you know, couple different ways over the middle playing through contact on Saturday night.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: I thought was a a really encouraging side of his ability to keep just stacking days and adding and adding to his game.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_00]: This was the very first game where he was putting himself at risk with his enormous catch radius.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_00]: And he did reach back for one ball, did a good job with that.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_00]: But the crossing plate, the goal line was a case of he needed to make the catch in stride.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_00]: It was a perfectly thrown ball.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Tez Walker would love to have a few more of those balls, frankly, and he caught it at the right height and muscle as way in the end.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_00]: So I thought, we saw some, you know, you realize how big he is relative to most of the defenders who are going to try and tackle him.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_00]: And it's even though he's a little bit thin, he's still fairly effective at being too big for those guys.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so that's that was that was one thing I was just worried about when you get to the excitement of a guy is making all these spectacular catches.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_01]: is is he going to be able to hold up doing more than just the side line grabs and we started to see him do that training camp.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_01]: He's been active in multiple areas of the field, but to me it's you know operating over the middle of the field potentially is a power slot with his athleticism.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_01]: There's just a lot that you can unlock in his game if he can operate in that area.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think the notion that he kind of replaces party or flex tight-end room was something I really liked.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_00]: And I liked it all that much more with the tight-ends dramatically underperforming so far in camp.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_00]: Hibner unlocked a lot of value and marked some, frankly, some trust with the great game he had.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_00]: I'd like to see Lane used over the middle more.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_00]: and and see how that works out.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_00]: He's, you know, obviously he was in situations in college where he used his catch radius, you know, that's a lot of his highlights from college or him, you know, in fairly tight contested situations going up and getting the football.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't get himself at a trouble with injuries there, so it's probably a good thing in terms of of he had been able to manage that when this live hitting going on.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_00]: All right, I'll bring up a player.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_00]: We didn't completely talk about the other two wider severs, but I will say Walker, we've already talked a little bit more in terms of him running complimentary routes, and he'd be nice to be got better.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_00]: You know, positions on the football serrat, I think really,
- 26:45[SPEAKER_00]: Distinguished himself as being a guy who'd go down to get the football in this game and that was something I really appreciate about him.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_00]: Good game in general Didn't have a ton of yac For most of his catch.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_00]: He had a couple of good yac plays one on the left side line one on you know that he ended up fumbling on But most the other place he was actually going down or coming back for the football in a way that that he had to They kind of box out a low catch point and I thought Fagnano did a good job at getting in the football
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he was sleeping at the top of his routes.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he had some good nuance in there.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_01]: A guy who is not an elite athlete is gonna have to learn how to shake defenders in different ways.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_01]: And there was one route that I can't remember who was highlighted on social media.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: But just showed him slipping by his guy, little hype fake at the top of the route.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_01]: And just does enough to get open.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_01]: I felt like that's a lot of what I saw in his college film was a guy who doesn't have to get open.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_01]: And if he's mostly open with his abilities, at the catch point, he is open.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: Just good for him, especially after a quiet camp at a lot of attention on Lane, the guy who went right after him in the draft, and I personally felt like Sarat had a bit of a stronger spring, especially finding soft zones underneath his own coverage, and was not entirely sure about his ability to separate against men.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_01]: But we saw a few good examples about that on Saturday night.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_00]: agree completely alright so i've got one of the player want to bring up if you had another one first though you can go uh let's talk a little bit about joe finiana before we move on completely because great game for him uh 22 out of 28 i believe is as a as a as a passer um yeah
- 28:23[SPEAKER_00]: completely unexpected, frankly.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_00]: His accuracy really surprised me on the upside.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_00]: He throws a very nice straight ball and he's quite accurate.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_00]: I know that in the past we hear a hardball talk about and this really where it gets into coach speak.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_00]: Mentor does coach speak to.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_00]: We don't have to just pretend like Harball was horrible and and Mentor was great about everything.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_00]: All NFL coaches do coach speaking.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_00]: You have to try and separate out when they're talking at that volume of two of coach speak for every player and when they ramp it up to a three or a four where they're going over the top to talk about it, I'll play.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think you know, actually understanding that nuance is important and a lot of times you have to be there live or at least look at the recordings of those interviews to really understand what they're
- 29:08[SPEAKER_00]: pinpoint accuracy is something that's been described to a lot of quarterbacks that did not deserve it in NFL preseason games, but not only was he very accurate, but he did a really good job of standing in there against pressure and getting the ball off despite it, and that led to some really additional yards of value from that.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and you had the one interception, I thought it was really funny that after the game, Jesse mentioned that he liked the throw that Faniano made on that interception, which just to quickly recall that he was rolling right on second down in the red zone, and through across his body to the back of the end zone, not really in Faniano admitted this in the locker room after the game, but that's a ball he should have chalked out of bounds.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_01]: But I just, you mentioned the coach speak.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_01]: I just thought it was really interesting.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_01]: Jesse was like, no, actually, I like that fast.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_01]: I like that in regards to good pass.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_01]: And really funny from a special, you know, a defensive coach.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, you like to bad pass in the quarterback.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, just, you know, maybe blown, blown away is maybe too aggressive.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_01]: I just think the whole impact of Scott or Thompson's injury in and asking this guy to come in and play a lot of snaps.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I believe I mentioned this in the first part, so I won't, I won't harp on it too much here.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_01]: In the preseason, it's about showcasing, it's about getting guys opportunities, and as a quarterback, you are the start of that for all of the past catchers.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_01]: And we've seen in past preseason where the Ravens have not had competent second and third quarterbacks in their preseason games and how adversely that affects the opportunity set for the past catchers who are trying to shine, trying to carve out roles, trying to make the roster.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_01]: Finyano, you know, he did
- 30:50[SPEAKER_01]: You know, beyond winning the game and caring stuff, he does a really big service to the team in terms of building this roster on Saturday night.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_01]: In terms of just getting people targets and getting them opportunities to make plays.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_01]: Because this is something that the Ravens have struggled within past years where the quarterbacks and the preseasoners throw in the ball all over the place.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: And you don't really know what to make of the wild receivers because they're not getting targets.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_01]: They're not getting catchable balls and so it's hard to even evaluate what they can do at the catch point or after the catch because that part doesn't exist.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, credit to Fanyan and just so much across the board, you know, commanding the offense, melting these long drives.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: This is like, you know, you're out on the field, you're away from the sidelines for, you know, 10 plus minutes at a time when you're mounting this long drive up and down the field and you've got to go on the sidelines, but you can't go down it after the, you know, after your series is over, go look at the tablet and go over the film like you can't after a series or, you know, after your, you know, you finish your reps to practice.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot that goes into that for preseason under after rookie quarterback, you know,
- 31:53[SPEAKER_01]: Good amount of pressure that comes with that situation and I probably, you know, we should know we're going to talk about it in a second, but this is probably one of the ways the Ravens coaching staff really showed up is helping Fanyana be ready and being able to stay even killed and not feel like he was under too much pressure to do with these did on Saturday night.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, it was a fairly simple playbook.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_00]: He was working for a lot of rollout plays, a lot of, you know, I would say, fairly simple combination things of things they run all the time.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_00]: But he's a guy who hardly had any camp snaps coming into this game.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's played for what about a week since Skylar Thompson's injury, that's about it.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_00]: And even then, he's been the number three guy, which means he's getting a few as trips of anybody.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_00]: They did do a few more of those reps
- 32:40[SPEAKER_00]: because they allowed them to have some longer drives, still remarkable, I thought, that the, you know, what he put together.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_00]: Let's, let's go to what you're talking about there next, which is what in Prince did the Raven's coaches have on this game?
- 32:54[SPEAKER_00]: And how about we just each bring up one at a time until we're out?
- 32:58[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, hopefully we'll take another half hour, but you know, we'll go through this one.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_00]: It will take a while, but start us off.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: So I'll go with Widersyver Coach, Keri Colbert, the approach that the Ravens receivers had in this game.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't actually put away the stats, but I didn't see exactly what their catch rates were.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_01]: But I felt like every ball that was catchable was caught by the Ravens receivers.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: Didn't actually pay too much attention to their run blocking, but that is gonna be a big part of some of these guys getting on the field.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: Really to me, I think that the young receivers
- 33:35[SPEAKER_01]: knowing what their roles are, knowing where they're supposed to be on the field at any given time.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_01]: And I know that applies to pretty much every, you know, going to apply to every coach.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_01]: That is a key part of their job, but laying in Sarat and Walker just never, never looked out of place.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: And I think at times,
- 33:51[SPEAKER_01]: They're, you know, these receivers who impress and training camp, and you're expecting to get a lot out of them, and then they come in the game, a real game, and they get completely stymied against real competition.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_01]: He just didn't see that.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_01]: You saw these guys rise to the occasion.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you get the sense that they know what's at stake.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_01]: These, this is the foundation of your career that you're starting on your rookie contract with the Ravens.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_01]: And so whatever you're able to carve out right now is, is where you're able to grow from.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_01]: because we've seen so many receivers who struggle to get off the landing pad here in Baltimore and their career just never goes anywhere Baltimore or anywhere else.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_00]: I might peg that to Jesse Minter as well that you know he's had some comments about you know lean into the opportunity and this is this is your this is the chance and you have an opportunity until you don't in the national football these one of the other things I think weaver might have said but the coaching staff has been you know very good I think about conveying that that message in general and one of the things that really plays out is the relatability of this coaching staff there are a lot of older guys and it's not there like there are no
- 34:54[SPEAKER_00]: One of the loudest human beings you'll ever, you know, be in the general vicinity of, you know this because he's, he's absolutely
- 35:02[SPEAKER_00]: Grimes at the podium when he's talking to you, but even when you're inside and watching a practice as we have a couple times, because of rain, you hear him get very loud, but he's, anyway, most of the guys are very relatable.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_00]: And it tends to be good when the players, when the coaches are younger, but there are relatable older coaches, I think lead for this one, I think Anthony Weaver is one.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_00]: You know, being a guy is a little bit older who's still extremely relatable to the players.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I think they have,
- 35:28[SPEAKER_00]: gotten the point across in no one's certain terms that it's very important to play well when the lights are on here because the lights aren't going to be on forever for you.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_00]: All right, I'll come up with another one.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk a little bit about Leadford's imprint on this game because I think it is multifaceted.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_00]: They do seem like it's a very physical line and just the first to second-series thing with Ywane that I already talked about was a, you know,
- 35:57[SPEAKER_00]: There, the echo with a whistle stuff, one from postsick, we had others from win in terms of the pancakes.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_00]: We, you know, Carson Vincent is a highly technical left tackle.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think I'm as being a pancake guy.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_00]: He had a couple in this game.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, you have just a lot of physicality being played with.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_00]: You want him on that second drive came out and he was, he was breathing fire in terms of what he wanted to do.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 36:22[SPEAKER_00]: great great to see some of that and you know I think it matches it there are other things about you know the zone play of this team we didn't we didn't see pretty many pull blocks in this game and you don't see a lot of pull blocks when you're running mostly sound because that's obviously your your kind of everybody's on the move if you will but they they they run it kind of slow sometimes they run it kind of faster sometimes they seem like they they really wanted to lean into a lot of try and get a lot of value out of the boots in these games with with leadford but you know
- 36:51[SPEAKER_00]: The imprint is there.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think if I was just talking qualitatively though, the physicality was the biggest thing from this game.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I felt that the interior did a pretty good job of picking up and passing off some of the stunts and what the Eagles, what the Eagles do again.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_01]: Nothing too exotic, nothing too crazy.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_01]: But just that baseline level of keeping your head on a swivel, you know, you want it looking for work, not just on that one player to be He's looking for work consistently if he wasn't engaged, which has been an issue with guard play in the past And so you just look at that interior trio in the cohesiveness of the various interior Trees that were on the field obviously they were doing their best when it was quit in their center But really just just felt like they had
- 37:33[SPEAKER_01]: Just kept their hands on a swivel, did a good job of picking up and passing off guys.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: I noted that a couple of times and I noted that a couple of times live.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I feel like when you note that a couple of times live that shows guys are really on top of it.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I did feel like the Eagles did an awful lot to try and confuse the Ravens offensive line, particularly early on.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_00]: They did a lot of stunts in twist.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_00]: And they were really probing against the Reds.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_00]: More than I would normally expect in a pre-season game.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_00]: The Ravens ran six stunts in this game.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_00]: And the Eagles, I would be,
- 38:04[SPEAKER_00]: not surprised if they ran 15, you know, so it was a lot more, we know, there were a lot more past place.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_00]: It couldn't even be higher than that.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so anyway, I, you know, big difference in the way the two, uh, two went.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_00]: You have another coach you want to go to?
- 38:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we talked about, we talked about Pinyano, good bit.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_01]: So Israel will fork, I think, quarterbacks coach.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_01]: Certainly deserves a shout out here as you know talked about coming in and you know quarterback coach involves more job is to work with a march act and and when we'll focus at the podium this week that you know last week He was talking about Jackson mostly you know and and but you look at what's funny on it didn't you say well that that has to come a lot from the quarterbacks coach putting in individual time with him and getting him ready for game day because
- 38:48[SPEAKER_01]: I earn a lot of other people on the building who are really that focused on Joe Finyano, you know, leading up to that game.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_01]: Wolfork, I just think that a really good job getting his, getting his mindset right, having him, you know, be in command of the game plan.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I'm not like the biggest expert on, you know, mechanics and that kind of thing from a quarterback, but obviously those things Finyano, we have seen him improve on his accuracy as this year has gone on from the spring to now.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_01]: So obviously Wolfork deserves a lot of credit for that as well.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_00]: Woolfork is an incredibly impressive presence at the podium.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_00]: First of all, very, very distinct to the point, TURS, he's in deck on Doyle, or maybe a little bit similar in that regard.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_00]: A little bit different styles, and Doyle gives you more of a fully analytic nature, but then Woolfork starts talking about stuff, like turning Lamar into a left-footed quarterback.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_00]: And what he's talking about there is he's saying, Lamar needs to have his left-foot forward when he's in the shotgun.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_00]: And Lamar had typically been a right-footed quarterback, and there's quarterbacks that have been great at either way.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_00]: And by the way, there's pluses and minuses to being a left-footed quarterback or a right-footed quarterback.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_00]: But left-footed quarterbacks, one thing they do is they mess with the outside corners a little bit more because outside corners typically pick up on right-footed play because the steps look different in terms of whether they want to make a quick timing throw or whether they're waiting for a full drop-back.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_00]: And that was, he did explain that, I actually had to look it up separately because I didn't even know that they were trying to make this change with Lamar specifically, but it was a very interesting comment and a wolf or sex explanation of things is just very good and I'm thoroughly impressed by him as a coach.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_00]: All right, let me move on.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'll give you one more.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_00]: I thought Mike Mickens, this was a great first game for him, and probably, you know, it's, it's be interesting to see if I'd love to be on the headset, some of the love to be on the headset for a lot of reasons, you know, just to hear the chat or going, oh, a lot.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, there's some playcalls in there today.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_00]: I don't need to do that.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even need to, you know, call a couple of four towns for them, which would probably be the area where actually, you know, Mike had just about enough experience to be dangerous.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_00]: But in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in
- 41:06[SPEAKER_00]: the PJ Volker is the safety coach, and he's up in the booth.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_00]: And, make it, I'm not sure where he is.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure if he's at the field level, if he's up in the booth.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, they obviously, they have the eyes working on the field there.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_00]: The number
- 41:30[SPEAKER_00]: you'd have to be very, very happy.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_00]: Every third down, basically, they didn't get a really great look.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_00]: The Ravens didn't do a great job with pressure either, so a lot of this is the secondary playing really well in the game, and I just, it's very impressive how they were able to shut the Eagles down in this game, and the Eagles, they tried it out of group of quarterbacks who were not terrible.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and they handy don't miss your starting quarterback in a preseason game is pretty good having your second quarterback being a key is pretty good.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, your third quarterback, you know, which is really the fourth quarterback on your team.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_00]: Be cold plate is pretty good.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Mickons was probably my favorite defensive hire of the new coaching staff just really incredible pedigree really, really solid.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_01]: Stand at Notre Dame the quality of the prospects coming out.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_01]: coming out as, you know, saved our bots coming out of that program last year, being so phenomenal as a rookie in Atlanta.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_01]: And so that that spoke a lot, and obviously all the praise that Kyle Hamilton had for him when he was hired, you know, kind of like you know who you were going to be, who is going to be.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, just really can cohesive everyone knew where they're supposed to be, there's such an emphasis on communication.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: Every coach, every secondary coach emphasizes a communication, right?
- 42:42[SPEAKER_01]: There's follow through in this secondary.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_01]: You could see it on the field and you could see them communicating back and forth from one end of the secondary to the other as the offense moves around.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: So really, really excellent job from him.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_00]: I do want to point out that the one blow in coverage that wasn't the game is actually or a warrior when he was playing safety at the end of the game and and they threw the touchdown in the back corner of the end zone.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_00]: That's it or a warrior is guy all the way and he kind of got caught in no man's land where he should have but he's also playing out a position and it's not in a position where you're going to expect him to have the regular season on anything but the most weird emergency basis because he's probably not in the roster or start with.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_00]: But
- 43:25[SPEAKER_00]: they brought him into the game earlier at corner, which is his normal position, then he would otherwise go on actually sacrifice some staffs I thought for more queues Robinson because of that, who should be ahead of him on the depth chart.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_00]: But they brought him in early because they had to put him in a safety because Jack Boy's Robinson was out and they didn't have a safety to pair up with silest walters as it was.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_00]: They played cave on Wallace and, um,
- 43:48[SPEAKER_00]: and counter-ejects and all the way to three quarters, which was too long, and then they put in the number three's effectively, and it's a or a warrior in Walters, and he's just in a bad spot on that play.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_00]: Everything basically that happened during that game, otherwise from a secondary basis, was absolutely great.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_00]: I would say a very, very high level, and I'm thrilled about it.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_01]: Agreed, Mick and Volker also guys really excited about like absolutely with that Navy defense For my last coach at the risk of opening a can of worms that I want to highlight is is Randy Brown actually Because you know loop had that first miss and I keep him I keep mixing up which What is Mrs. and what is makes where but he had he had the one miss he had one miss early on came back in May to second
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: Brookie Ponder-Rine, Eccaly, Shankt, his first punt, came back with a much better second punt really like the hang time on that second punt, which was something that was somewhat of a weakness of this coming out of college.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_01]: The Ravens have put their special teams, or at least their special list, they're kicking and punching eggs, firmly in Randy Jones basket.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_01]: They're not going to sign it seems like any competition for loop at this point.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_01]: It didn't just never really felt like they were going to do that, even though I felt like they should have done that from the beginning to bring in some veteran competition.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's not happening.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_01]: And you've got to Ricky Ponder.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_01]: First time holed her and Ryan Eckley, and you're having to relearn the operation for a second year in a row.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_01]: This is, this is, this is pressure for any ground.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_01]: This is, this is, you know, in some ways, he's the guy who wanted loop, and then since they draft loop, he's, you know, not insisted, but he's the guy who, you know, picked out loop as this team's next kicker.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_01]: He picked out Eccles, this team's next partner.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_01]: It took three years for Jordan Stout to really become the guy he was supposed to be involved some more.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_01]: And so, you know, it's maybe the biggest question mark phase in this team outside of who's starting at center is the specialist situation.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm not concerned.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_00]: I'm officially not concerned about the kicking situation, but I might be concerned about the holding situation.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_00]: If you look at the 49 Miss, it was wide right, but the end of her end rotation on the ball was perfect.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't, you know, he shouldn't be attempting to,
- 46:18[SPEAKER_00]: He has some natural hook to his kicks when he misses.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, it's funny because you know, the kickiest of Pittsburgh did it last year.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_00]: He did basically the exact same thing he did on this first kick here.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure whether that was him or echo who that's on.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_00]: I tried to look at it a couple of times to see if the ball had been placed a little bit inside.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_00]: I just, I just could not tell.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_00]: It did look like there's maybe a little bit of difficulty handling the staff initially.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_00]: It did get down.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_00]: It was in the normal position of the ball, you know, rotated properly.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_00]: So it might be something that he should have been able to adjust to anyway.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_00]: But we'll also heard Justin Tucker and Stout talk about the need to to get the ball down on an area the size of a grain of rice.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's not something I'd be able to tell from that.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_00]: But I'd love to hear it from Randy Brown or from either of these guys maybe at the podium sometime is, you know, what went wrong on that kick?
- 47:11[SPEAKER_00]: You just take us through that and, and I think we get an honest answer on it.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_00]: I, and, and you know, it was nice about it is it's still had the right rotation on the ball.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_00]: And he made came back and he made all those other kicks.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_00]: I was fine with that.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_00]: you know, punting numbers.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see if that if that recovers or anything.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not concerned about him as a holder yet, but you know, this is at that point.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_00]: I got to be honest.
- 47:39[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and you talk about inference on the roster.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_01]: I just popped into my head, inference on the roster.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_01]: Randy Brown, that's an imprint on the roster and the Ravens are really betting on him to get this right.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, to be fair to Randy Brown, Randy Brown has been a kick and coach forever.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_00]: He's one of those respected in the entire national football league.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_00]: And he's the guy who runs most of the kicking and punting camps that are out there, and he's basically creates the ravens having this pipeline of the best guys, which is why all these ravens kickers who were done number two to talk her over the years, went other places and kicked really well, and you know, good no, and lots, and...
- 48:14[SPEAKER_00]: Howshka and Ashka is actually the number one kicker for a brief time, all these guys went often and became good kickers.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_00]: So it's also frankly the reason why the Ravens were absolutely able to pull the ultimate shester move on the Vikings and trade them curry vet fit for a fifth round pick because a Randy Bound Brown's reputation is of picking kickers.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is, this is not to, this is not to, sorry, I probably sounded like I was casting too much doubt on him.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying, this is the, they're, they're really betting on him to come through with these two guys.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_01]: And so there, there are questions about loop.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think those questions about loop or still present.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_00]: And he'd made at least 20 consecutive field goals at camp before he missed this fight, which is really a shame.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_01]: But that's not necessarily something Brown can correct for it.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to be up to the young man himself to perform under the brightest of the lights.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, fair enough, fair enough.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_00]: Well, let's move on.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_00]: We've got a couple of male band questions I want to get to.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_00]: And these are fairly short.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_00]: The first one is from Matt Roth.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_00]: Matt, thanks again, Matt's a frequent guest of the show.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_00]: And one of the people I really enjoy talking football to.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_00]: But he says, is there any trade value to broader Washington at this point?
- 49:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think so.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think a guy has got experience and he's got good tape.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's just that the tough part is not a lot of that good tape is last year or even in 2024 really he's a couple years removed from his best season his best work was with his current defensive coordinators is defensive line coach.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_01]: The money isn't too much of an issue in terms of a team trading for it.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_01]: I just wonder about the inside politics of getting a guy to accept a pay cut and then trading him.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_01]: I know football is a business, but there are also conversations that usually come along with the guy accepting a pay cut about him making the roster and so I would kind of wonder.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_01]: how much that would be under consideration for the Ravens, especially with Weaver back in the fold now, who Washington played his best ball under and earned that extension under in the first place.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_01]: So that's why I'm a little dubious about Washington getting trade, I think he has trade value, but I think taking a pay cut usually almost always involves some kind of a conversation with the team of what the rules gonna be.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, that, that, that, that can create a little bit of a tough point for trying to get, you know, trade them out of there if you've already made a commitment there.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's football, it's a business team's going to do what they want, but there's a way people like to operate.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_00]: I, I'll just say that I, I don't think that would be an issue at all in this case.
- 50:53[SPEAKER_00]: And I think, in fact, the guaranteed money itself is the only stake in the ground the ravens need to make in terms of making a promise to broader caution.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't have to come at all with a promise to rust or spider.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_00]: It says, hey, brother, look.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_00]: We'll put your salary of 2 million, we'll give you 750 guaranteed.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_00]: If we cut ship and it might happen, you know, we got young guys we'd like to.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_00]: Then you might be out of a job looking on the street, but at least you have 750 grand toes you salary.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_00]: Other alternatives we've got your net right now, safe 4 million against the cap, and you can take your chances on the market, would you like that deal?
- 51:25[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's the conversation that should have happened, whether or not it did or not, it's the conversation that should have happened.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm not too concerned about it.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_00]: We could talk about mentoring, oh, I'm sorry, we're past that.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, that's the trade value of product wash.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think it would be a seventh or a conditional seventh work to occur, and it's just basically offloading the guarantee, sorry, the vet guaranteed minimum component of his salary,
- 51:53[SPEAKER_00]: for the rest of the season to another team.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_00]: And there are three teams that may be short on talent would be perfectly happy to have brought a portion.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, brought a did not have a bad game this week at all.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_00]: The Willie Lampkin thing, it was bad, but it didn't really impact the play at all.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_00]: But they actually made consecutive run stops early on in the game that I felt were good.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_00]: So I think he's got value, it won't be much, but the Ravens, they're all there would be looking through is unloaded the 1.25 million a salary.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_00]: All right, one other question.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_00]: This is a little longer, but it's interesting.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_00]: And this is from Sims Robbed LG of MV3 on Twitter.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_00]: He says, I know his fans, we tend to overvalue our guys, but with our luck with that offensive tackles, do you think we should realistically think about keeping Lichtenhand on the 53 as OL9?
- 52:45[SPEAKER_00]: This is assuming Stanley Rosengarten,
- 52:48[SPEAKER_00]: Venga Simpson, Vincent Jones, Pinter Gwyn, or is he still far away?
- 52:55[SPEAKER_00]: So basically the name that's missing from this that I think is likely to make the roster, actually there might be a couple of things here.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't have postsick on here.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_00]: He instead has win and that's fine.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_00]: If you think win over postsick, that's fine.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_00]: But the other guy he doesn't have on here is four he's and the Ravens would kind of be a guard short if they didn't have four he's on the roster.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_00]: They've got at least I would think I'm a player like Bullock on the roster to take that spot.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's just tough because Jones just isn't Emory Jones just isn't getting looks at right tackle.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_01]: And Vincent,
- 53:27[SPEAKER_01]: is a natural left tackle, it's like never played right tackle.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think maybe the first time this week we saw him there a couple of times, so, you
- 53:39[SPEAKER_01]: just based on that alone looked in hand as a case if you're going to carry 10th if you're going to carry 10 offensive on and I think he's probably probably the 10th you know I haven't watched him that closely that you know you spent a lot of time grading him chemically what do you think about him long term do you think there's potential there or is it really just this is a guy who can play right tackle for us in a pinch.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_00]: I think play right tackle in a pinch, probably as I would see it now.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_00]: By the end of training Kip, I might feel a little bit differently.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see a ton of developmental upside.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_00]: I do see him as a top of practice squad guy.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he has the kind of the guy who had a lot of poaching risk when they cut him years ago, and he ended up getting taken with Sonot.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_00]: uh... i don't think there's a guy uh... i don't think he's a guy that gets taken but you look at the left guys could play left tackle in particular the left tackle build and a little bit of feet that go with it like so not even like um... you know sharp uh... you know
- 54:38[SPEAKER_00]: Those are guys who could end up playing for a lot of NFL teams and sometimes be traded for a conditional six instead of a conditional seven because they, because they, you know, left tackle has value that's way north of that.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_00]: Like to answer right tackle only.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't really see him as a huge obvious, you know, poach by some other team.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so then, you know,
- 55:02[SPEAKER_01]: always put prefer to just drop him to the practice squad and and like you I think you mentioned this in the first first part of the show is you know Emory Jones is started for three years in the SEC at right tackle did it when he was 19 years old if you need him to play 20 snaps to close out of game it right tackle he knows how to do that and and so you risk that and you bring lifting hand off the next week
- 55:24[SPEAKER_01]: I still think that's the approach I would take, especially as we made our little better on the first show with the possibility this year, I would say certainly more than other years to take 26 defenders.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_01]: That would mean nine offensive linemen and if you're thinking about
- 55:40[SPEAKER_01]: one for one comparisons and I know that's not the only thing that goes into the decision, but just to frame it that way.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_01]: One for one comparisons about, you know, a defensive tackle, a racian, Benny, or whoever that, whoever that may be over-liked in hand, it's pretty clear you're keeping, you're keeping Benny, especially he's got the draft pit contract value attached to it.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm with you.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_00]: All right, good, great discussion here, really appreciate it.
- 56:05[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, we won't think we haven't done this y'all offensive MVP.
- 56:07[SPEAKER_00]: So let's do that.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_00]: Three, two, one, we won't have too much discussion, because I think we've hit on these all as we went, but who's your number three guy?
- 56:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm a little worried that we're going to end up having the same three.
- 56:19[SPEAKER_01]: So I think I'm going to go ahead and give Lickton hand number three, just to just a diversify a little bit as I've mentioned a couple of times, just correct to him for, you know, the Ravens have their veteran right tack over Tyre, who's probably supposed to come in and play roughly half this game for them on Saturday night.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_01]: He repairs Tyre's abruptly and looked in hand, you know, with every Jones on the roster because they want to get Jones more work at guard.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_01]: Let do-hand comes in and plays the entire game at right tackle.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it quits himself quite well.
- 56:48[SPEAKER_01]: Can't remember if I made this point on the first or second part of this podcast, so I'll bake it here again in practice and practice your practicing for stretches at a time.
- 56:58[SPEAKER_01]: We only saw a last week a couple of longer drives where players were out on the field for a longer period of time.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_01]: So they have a full practice period I was still alive for doing, but it's not the same as playing a six to eight minute drive in terms of games time on the NFL field.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_01]: And it's much less doing that in a number of long drives that the Ravens mounted throughout the game.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_01]: Largely, because of Lichtenann's ability to hold firm on that at that right tackle spot.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_01]: So a lot of credit to him for going to play 80 snaps and looking pretty good while doing it.
- 57:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think that point was made by Weaver, right?
- 57:32[SPEAKER_00]: He talked about players aren't always ready to play a lot of steps at a row, but even just ten steps in a row from a long drive, and they even said a couple of ten play drives in this game, is more than Lichtenhand has probably played the entire summer or in.
- 57:46[SPEAKER_00]: at any point with the Ravens of the maybe in a preseason game last year.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_00]: So it's a it's a difficult stretch.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_00]: And you know that doesn't even begin to talk about playing 80 steps in a game and and of the effort that would take.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, I'll move on.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_00]: My number three guys is Matt Hibner outstanding and I thought a big jump up from his play at camp.
- 58:08[SPEAKER_00]: We've talked about it already.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think I need to go with it much more.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, 100% think I think it was really exciting to get him to flash dive athleticism just just really nice for a guy who you know that's a part of a skill set.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_01]: He hasn't gotten the opportunities to do that in camp.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's been frustrating at times to watch how he's been used at camp.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_01]: So that that that wheel route up the side line was, woo, that was real nice.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_00]: Think of beauty.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_01]: All right, my, oh, yeah, for my number two.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_01]: So it's kind of torn.
- 58:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think we're going to have the same two and one.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think there's really any way around that.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_01]: I want to say most valuable player number two on Saturday night was Giovanni Gwit.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_01]: Now just for Saturday night, I'm saying he could be the most valuable player when you think about what that impact of his plan Saturday night could have the long term for the year.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_01]: But parallel anxiety night not really much else to say other than man what a little spark not little seems such a horrible way to describe a fierce defensive lemon what a massive fiery spark plug in the middle of that in the middle of that offensive line speed off the ball
- 59:11[SPEAKER_01]: Physicality through the whistle, you know, you mentioned, you know, Dwayne Ledford walked around like, you know, Vince, Vince McMahon, really strutting his stuff and saying, look, I told you, I told you, I had the starting center in Atlanta, brought him up here Baltimore with me, and I present him to you on a silver platter against him.
- 59:30[SPEAKER_01]: What is a well-coached and pre-talented equals defensive line, even with their depth?
- 59:35[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 59:35[SPEAKER_00]: I did it if I have, you know, still very good size there to work with.
- 59:39[SPEAKER_00]: And Green is my number one guy loved him in terms of of what he did.
- 59:44[SPEAKER_00]: And you're
- 59:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I am projecting a little bit in terms of how significant this thing is for the Ravens, because I think it's it's fair to say my number two guy outplayed him for the game, given given what he did, but my number two guy is Fagnano, and I sounds like he must probably your number one fantastic game way above the expectations, stills the Ravens number three quarterback.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he displaces Huntly what that would take,
- 1:00:11[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they signed on Lee, they signed him for two years now, right?
- 1:00:14[SPEAKER_00]: Also, where did they just signed for one?
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:00:16[SPEAKER_00]: So we either do it.
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're not, uh, they're not like out of it.
- 1:00:19[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_01]: No, 0% chance of that, you know, it's going to be really interesting.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_01]: How he does against Minnesota and how aggressive Brian Flores gets against him and how he responds to that.
- 1:00:31[SPEAKER_01]: What's up another really good performance?
- 1:00:32[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe a third against Washington.
- 1:00:34[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you get a little worried about someone coaching him.
- 1:00:37[SPEAKER_01]: But again, a guy who goes undrafted, relatively meager-signing bonus, no guarantees otherwise.
- 1:00:41[SPEAKER_01]: You usually feel pre-siffed about Siknong to the practice squad.
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_01]: The problem with doing that those and the regular season, you kind of got to keep your head on a swivel in case other teams quarterback injuries crop up.
- 1:00:52[SPEAKER_01]: And you think like, oh, I definitely want to keep this guy.
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_01]: You might have to clear spot on the 53 to promote him and kind of juggle things from there.
- 1:00:59[SPEAKER_01]: But he is my MVP for the game.
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_01]: I think just purely in terms of who was most responsible for the Ravens winning that game.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was Joe Fagnano and seeing him in the locker room after the game.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not just very tumbled down to earth, like did my job, let's get out of here and go home.
- 1:01:18[SPEAKER_01]: I really just loved a lot of, you know, you talked about the accuracy, standing in the face of pressure, making some throws on the move.
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_01]: But so much of the quarterback position as we know Ken is mental and and Fanyano being able to comment and handle as much as he did in his first it is first game and and do it with with a lot of boys on relatively short notice for getting that level of a workload similar to LinkedIn hand.
- 1:01:44[SPEAKER_01]: But I would say more demanding in terms of what he was asked to mentally running the offense and and running.
- 1:01:50[SPEAKER_01]: So running the offense exceptionally smoothly.
- 1:01:52[SPEAKER_01]: I was so impressed with the pre snap operation.
- 1:01:55[SPEAKER_01]: How clean things were the lack of penalties.
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_01]: I know something the Ravens are really excited about again.
- 1:02:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's just it's the preseason.
- 1:02:01[SPEAKER_01]: They do simplify things.
- 1:02:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's not, you know, super crazy play calls or anything like that.
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_01]: But again, this is an undrafted quarterback out of the UConn that we're talking about in Baltimore.
- 1:02:10[SPEAKER_01]: And it hasn't been a strong suit for them, so it's really great to see, you know, another show F quarterback succeed in ultimately.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 1:02:21[SPEAKER_00]: So we're agreement on effectively the list here.
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_00]: I had some honorable mentions that we'll bother with that.
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_00]: Nick always great to talk football with you, and I thought we had a lot of fun going through this.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, talked about some interesting points that I can't have this conversation with just anybody about coaching and prints and things like that, so I appreciate you coming on.
- 1:02:41[SPEAKER_01]: Well, your two kind, Ken, this is always such a pleasure and a learning experience for me really.
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's one of the reasons why I enjoy it so much.
- 1:02:48[SPEAKER_01]: It gives me new avenues, new things to think about.
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_01]: It can find my written work for the Ravens on BaltimoreBetown.com.
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to have a lot of coverage of training camp, end of training camp, and going into the season on there.
- 1:03:00[SPEAKER_01]: And then you can find me on Twitter or Access.
- 1:03:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's called Now at Nick and I.K.
- 1:03:05[SPEAKER_01]: Knowsball.
