Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hello, Christians.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: This is Dallas Beecham.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Stand by for good news.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: The garden was quiet once, no fear, no shame, no hiding.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Adam and Eve walked in a world where everything God had made was good.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: The voice of God was not something to run from.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: His presence was fellowship.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: His word was life.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: But then another voice entered the garden.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: It did not begin with a sword.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: It did not begin with thunder.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: It began with a question.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: Yea, hath God said, This is where unbelief often begins, not with open rebellion, but with a doubt planted against the word of God.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: Eve listened, Adam disobeyed, the fruit was taken, the command was broken, and suddenly the garden changed.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Their eyes were opened, but not the way the serpent promised.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: They saw their nakedness, they felt their shame.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: They made coverings of fig leaves and hid themselves among the trees.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Then came one of the most searching questions in all the Bible.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Adam, where art thou?
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: God did not ask because he had lost Adam.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: God asked because Adam had lost fellowship.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Sin had not hidden Adam from God's sight, but it had broken Adam's confidence to stand before him.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: And there in the same chapter where man failed, God spoke the first promise.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Genesis three hundred fifteen says the seed of the woman would bruise the serpent's serpent would bruise his heel.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: In other words, the enemy would wound, but God would win.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Sin would leave a scar, but redemption would bring victory.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: That promise was small enough to fit in one verse, but large enough to carry the hope of every generation.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Abel believed God and offered by faith.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Enoch walked with God by faith.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: Noah built before it even reigned by faith.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Abraham left home by faith.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: Sarah received strength by faith.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: They did not seek Calvary.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: They did not stand in the upper room on Pentecost, but they believed the promise from away off, from afar, the Bible says.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: But God's promise was never only about getting man out of trouble, it was about bringing men back into fellowship.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: That is why Genesis three twenty one matters.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: Adam and Eve tried fig leaves, but God made coats of skins and clothed them.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Man's covering was not enough.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: God himself had to provide a covering.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: From that day forward the promise kept moving.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: Through altars, lambs, prophets and covenants, God was saying, I am making a way back.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: Isaiah spoke of a sure foundation.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Joel spoke of a day when God would pour out his spirit upon all flesh.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: The promise of Eden led man to the promise of Pentecost.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: Then Jesus came, the seed of the woman, made of a woman, made under the law.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: He carried the cross up Calvary's hill, and there the serpent bruised his heel.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: But on the third day when Jesus rose from the grave, the head of the serpent was bruised.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: Death had met its conqueror.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Yet Jesus did not stop at forgiveness from a distance.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: Before he ascended, he said, And I send the promise of my Father upon you.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: In Acts 1, he told them to wait for the promise of the Father.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: In Acts 2, Peter declared it plainly.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Repent, be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: That is the rest of the story in the garden.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: The first promise was not buried under the curse, it was planted there by God.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: And through faith men and women carried it forward until Jesus fulfilled it, and the Holy Ghost made it available to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: So when you feel like you have failed too badly, remember Adam hiding in the trees.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: God still called, God still covered, God still promised.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: Faith is hearing God's promise even while standing in the place of failure and believing He has made a way back home.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: So the good news for us today is we don't have to wait for the promise.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: It's already here.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: And like Peter said in Acts 2, it's for you and your children.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: This has been five minutes of good news.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: I hope today's message has touched your heart and causes you to have a good day.
