- 0:00SPEAKER_00: I'm talking to some realistic investment here and then mean that what's going to be enough.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: But more than that, I'm a mental health advocate, I'm a self-development enthusiast.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: So my goal here is to help people become the true versions of themselves that they are meant to be.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Whether you're new or returning what's up, I appreciate you being here, and I hope you enjoy this episode.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much for watching.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: There's a global pandemic that is plaguing the lives of billions of men and women.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: This pandemic plagued myself as well until very recently, but I'm blessed to have been able to receive what I believe can be a forever solution for anyone.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: In this video, in this podcast episode, we're gonna talk about the detriment of porn.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Something that most of us probably aren't very comfortable talking about.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: Something that we've just accepted as part of our lives.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: We've just seen it as this thing that we can't control.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: It controls us.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: And something that we have to have ultimate willpower to even withstand for a couple of minutes.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Something that's taken us from our family, something that has made our lives shallow.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Something that's made us lose our attraction to our wife.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Something that has made us lose our happiness, it's gotten us in depression, anxiety, and more mental health issues.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: It's ruined so many lives.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: And I don't want it to ruin yours.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: But only by being open and honest about it can you overcome porn.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna dive into my story, and hopefully it's motivating, hopefully it's inspiring, hopefully you get some tips on how you can defeat this disease, this plague, this pandemic, this addiction.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: There's a stat that says by the Barna Group, 68% of Christian men and 50% of Christian women admit to viewing porn regularly.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: 68%.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: And these are people that know porn is detrimental to them.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: They are Christian men and women.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: And when I first started this episode just now, you just heard me say, I believe that I've found a forever solution.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: And that forever solution is in God.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: But the truth is some of us, even with God, we don't have the willpower, the faith, the strength, the confidence, mental fortitude to overcome addiction.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: Whether that's gambling, whether that's porn, whether that's whatever else you like to do, whether that's overeating or not eating or whatever kind of addiction you have, but specifically porn.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: 68% of Christian men.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: I just want you to really take that in.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: Really take that in because that's that means you're looking at three Christian men, and they look like, and they probably are, amazing men, but they're plagued by this single addiction that seemingly has grasped onto their life and and taken control.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: We know as Christians that we're supposed to let and we should let God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit take control.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: But these worldly things they look so attractive to the to the human eye.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: And once we're once we're done with our day, once we're through our day of stress and of work and of so many different hundreds or thousands of things going on, bothering us throughout the day.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: We just we collapse.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: Our willpower collapses, our faith collapses, and we're tired.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: We we think in a moment, this won't hurt me.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: This won't actually negatively impact my life.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: And yet the truth is it will.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: Now, I don't know all the science behind it, but I know that it affects your prefrontal cortex, which essentially just means it makes your decision-making poor, it makes your emotions misguided, it can make you irritable, it can make you angry, and it can make you take out your anger on your children, on your wife, on your family, on your coworkers, on whoever may not and probably doesn't deserve your anger.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: I I can tell you right now, your kids, your wife definitely don't deserve your anger.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: They deserve for you to be an honorable, respectable, kind, courageous, strong man.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: And when when when you watch porn, it makes you the opposite.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: It makes you guided again.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: Like I said, it makes you guided by this porn.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: It makes you guided by these worldly things that we think are so awesome in the moment.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: And it's a struggle.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: But it's a struggle that only we can go through together because we're not gonna beat it if we're alone.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: And I think that is the solution.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: I think the solution is talking about it openly and building a community of people who have gone through the same issues and building a community of people who aren't afraid and aren't judgmental.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: And where do you find that?
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Where do you find these men that are open to talking about their porn use?
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: It's a very sensitive, personable issue.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: So why would anyone want to talk about it with you?
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: Well, because they have the same exact thoughts that you do.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: And so for me, what's truly helped is going to Christian events.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: And I'll tell you right now, I was away from the church for several months on end because I didn't want to be a part of the hypocrisy.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: I didn't want to be one of those people who's going out to drink and smoke and party and sleep with whoever Saturday night.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: And then Sunday morning, you you put on your Sunday best, you act like a saint, you go to church, and everything's perfect.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: Because see, I have this this driving ambition, is this calling that just tells me I have to be I have to excel in anything I do.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: And given you won't never excel in everything in the beginning, or at anything in the beginning for that matter, but this is immensely powerful.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: And another thing is many of you are of different ages, and you're listening to me, and it's like, oh yeah, you you know, you were able to beat it, but you're you're a young kid, you're uh you know, you're way behind in life, you haven't gone through the stress I have, yada yada yada, you know.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: And I'll tell you right now, most of the people that I know are at least in their 30s, and most of them are 40s, 50s, and I even know people in their 60s, 70s, and 80s, and some of them still go through the same issues, and some of them within the last year quit.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: So I understand that this can plague you in much later stages of life.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: I understand that this isn't an issue that's just for little kids, that this is an issue that plagues 68% of Christian men and 50% of Christian women, and the truth is some men and some women go through it our entire life because we're not simply willing to be open and honest and transparent and surrender our sins to God.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: We're not willing to to build a community that because we have this in our mind that they're gonna judge me.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: I mean, when you think about talking to someone about porn and you've never done it before, I think that it's very easy to believe that they would laugh at you or they would ridicule you or they would just you know not like you or whatever we have and what this anxiety that we have in our minds, which partially by the way is created by the porn itself.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: But if you never admit you have a problem, then you don't have a problem.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: And what I mean by that is of course you physically have the problem, but you have no problem to beat, which means you will never beat it, but you'll still have the underlying problem within you.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: And so some men, and I think unfortunately the majority of men, we die.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: We literally live our entire lives watching porn, and we start at such a young age, such a young age.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: I mean, the internet has allowed us to see more of pornographic and nudity and all this uh vile malicious content than kings, literal kings who controlled an entire nation did a hundred literally a hundred years ago, fifty years ago, two hundred years, not long ago, literally not even not even a century ago, probably fifty years ago, because the internet is a very, very, very, very new thing.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: And so if you think back to your childhood, I'm sure you can think back to the times when maybe you had nudes, maybe you had, you know, that that polaroid and you had printed out some some pictures of your girlfriend or whatever, but that's not the best thing to do.
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: But you also didn't have access to literally any type of woman in the world, any your ideal fantasized woman.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: You didn't have access to to just look up a couple words.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: Oh, I want to watch a um hot, thick, brunette girl, um take it in the you know what, right?
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: You can you couldn't do that, but you can today, and it's easy to see why we would get addicted.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: And I had a statistic in front of me, it says the average age of first exp average age of first exposure to pornography is 11 years old.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: Now, I want you to think about what you were doing when you were 11 years old.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: Given or let's let's just say for example, you were you know you grew up in the 1970s, so you were in the 1980s when you were 11 years old.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: So what were you doing?
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: You were probably playing outside, you were probably riding bikes, you were probably I don't know.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: I'm not I'm not I'm not that age, so I I I don't know exactly what you guys did, but the point is you guys probably had a lot healthier habits.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: 11 years old is what grade is that?
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: That's is that elementary school?
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: What grade is what grade is 11 years old?
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: That's at the very least, that's that's that's middle school.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: So you have middle schoolers out here watching grown women and grown men engaging in in what what is supposed to be such a beautiful and natural act of sex, but what today has become controlled and manipulated and addicting to to those who watch it and even probably some those people who who who engage in it.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: And you know, I I I have this unique perspective that was brought to me yesterday by a brother of mine by a uh great Christian leader in my community, and what he was saying was a lot of us Christians, especially those of us who engage in porn, and again, I'm blessed to have been saved from that myself, um, but we we engage in porn, but obviously we're we're firmly against human trafficking.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: But we don't put two and two together and realize that uh some of this porn that we're watching, some of it very possibly is human trafficking.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: Some of these people are possibly being sex trafficked, and we're uh giving power to the traffickers by engaging in the content because if they didn't make money because they didn't have us watching it, then they wouldn't do it.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: So if you need if that's what you need to put in your mind so that you don't watch porn, put in your mind that I that you're watching a a woman who is sex trafficked.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: Um Especially, I mean I I remember going through through porn sites and I would see like, you know, teenage or I don't know if I ever saw a kid, but I I I remember seeing teenage titles and if they were teenager or not, you know, is it could have just, you know, it's hard to even hard to even think about, but could have been you trying to attract that specific audience who is unfortunately attracted to teenagers, which is another thing I guess they're trying to normalize, but it's very um I mean, first of all, it's unacceptable, and second of all, it's super weird that they're trying to normalize it.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: But I have this uh this next statistic in front of me.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: It says the relationship impact of porn.
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: There was a study published in a journal of sex research that porn use is associated with decreased sexual satisfaction and relationship quality.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: And and we spoke about this earlier.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: We spoke about you know not being attracted to your spouse and not being happy and taking out your anger on your spouse and on your children.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: And if we if we if we were able to think logically before we watched porn or while we watched porn, I think that I can say that at least 99% of us would probably restrain ourselves.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: If we knew that we were gonna get angry with our wives, we were gonna ruin our relationship, we were gonna be less attracted to our wife, then I think most of us would refrain from porn.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: But the issue is that porn makes our dopamine receptors go crazy, and so it makes us feel like we're having the best time of our lives.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: And again, I'm no scientist, but I think that's where the you know where where the the post the post-nut clarity comes from.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: Because we're like and after the moment, we're like we realize what we actually did.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: And unfortunately, it's not just regret for the next few minutes, it's regret for weeks on end, months on end.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: And it again, it it is associated with decreased sexual satisfaction and relationship quality.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: I mean, if we knew that we were gonna get angry at our wife, at our children, at those who we love and those who love us, then I think most of us would refrain from porn.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: Now, the next thing I wanted you know to to to talk about is again the we we spoke about about the um about being less attracted to to your spouse.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: And we all know that as Christians we are supposed to be virgins until marriage.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: And growing up how I grew up, um, for those of you who know my story, you know that I grew up with uh severe depression, anxiety, anger issues, isolation, and obesity.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: And so I had no friends, I had no community growing up.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: Um and you know, back then I wouldn't have known it to be, but now I see it as a blessing because A, I am a virgin, and as a man in today's society, that sounds weird to most people.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: But when you talk to Christians, when you talk to good men, they're like that is amazing.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: That is, you know, extraordinary.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: Because most men can't go that long.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: And realistically, the first, you know, eighteen some years of my life, I d didn't have access to to women to to be able to not be a virgin.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: But the last two years I have.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: And before I even came to God, I'd just I feel like God had his control, had his power in me.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: And what I mean by that is, I mean, for example, I was talking to someone out someone about this the other day, actually a few people, about how my podcast is called the Reborn Podcast, and I love that name.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: But what's funny is that's a a a key word in the Christian community.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, reborn in God, reborn in Christ, reborn in Jesus.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: Jesus was reborn, but I made the name reborn before I even came back to God to the church, and so I think God He He had his plan and He put that in the back of my head.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: Um So I think I God God has His plan, but let me let me tell you this stat or fact real quick.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: And as it says, research has shown that people often escalate their porn consumption over time, seeking more extreme or violent content to achieve the same level of arousal.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: So this means you might start with well, I don't I don't wanna I don't wanna get into specifics, but you're gonna seek more extreme or violent content to achieve the same level of arousal, which again goes back to not being attracted to your spouse, not being attracted to the one person who you're supposed to be attracted to.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: And I I think that goes without much explanation.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: I don't know how to better explain it to you, but I think most of us we'd rather have a beautiful night with our wife, with our spouse, than we would have a lonely night doing this evil habit, engaging in this evil habit and letting it control our life.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: I think we'd much rather go with the former.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: Um but sixty-eight percent of us men don't, and fifty percent of our s uh our sisters don't either.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: Because it's easy.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: It's easy because our spouse might not want to have a beautiful night when we do, right?
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: So it it's more accessible.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: Um it's more accessible.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: That's really what it boils down to.
- 19:11SPEAKER_00: And here's another another stat or fact that I have in front of me.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: Some experts consider porn addiction as a real issue, and they should.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: A study in Jama Pediatrics found that adolescents with greater exposure to pornography had a higher likelihood of reporting low sexual desire and symptoms of compulsive sexual behavior.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: So I don't know about you, but what I get from that is a lot of what I was just saying.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: Oh sexual desire, symptoms of compulsive sexual behavior.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: That's what we've been talking about the last I don't know how long this is, 20, 30 minutes.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: That's that's what we've been talking about.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: Um and it it it's all gonna go back to that.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: It's it's all gonna go back to ruining your your your actual relationships, ruining your your marriage, your your children, your your life as a whole.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: Really, because if you're watching porn you can't you can't you can't think at the highest of your ability, um as as we said with the prefrontal corf cortex, um and you're always gonna be controlled by this this world-like, this worldly thing.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: And so there's there's a there's a quote that I was able to pull up, and I think it really puts what I was saying into a great but unfortunate quote, and it says, Pornography is a drug, as with any addiction, it numbs your emotions and robs you of your self-worth.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: This is by Joshua Shea.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: And that's that's that's that is the true impact.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: Hey guys, this is Tony Boutro.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: Sorry for interrupting this one quick question for you.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: Have you taken any value from this episode or any other episode you have heard on the Reborn Podcast?
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: If you have taken value, one quick small favorite.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: I mean, if you could check this episode, check this podcast, someone else would take value.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: Come on, I can also be all of the all of the help, all the six feet.
- 21:42SPEAKER_00: I don't know what you would have mean so much for that.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: If you want to expect, you're gonna have to work, and you wouldn't have worked.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: There's there's another there's another call here.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: It goes back to what I was saying earlier with with human trafficking.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: It is simply says pornography is human trafficking on a screen.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: And this is by Lila McAwite.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: Sorry if I'm butchering that.
- 22:13SPEAKER_00: There's two more quotes I want to read to you.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: One is pornography is in fact a pandemic of the digital age.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: I was saying a pandemic.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: A pandemic that's more powerful than COVID, than the flu, or than whatever other plagues or pandemics we've gone through.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: Number four, the fourth quote I want to read to you is you become what you consume.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: If you consume, and actually I want to I want to reread this one because this one is super powerful.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: You become what you consume.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: If you consume pornography, you'll become sexually distorted.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: Which means you'll always need, again, going back to what we said before, you'll always need the more extreme or violent content to achieve the same level of arousal.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: Which means ultimately there's gonna be one of two options.
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: A, you manipulate your wife into doing this uh kind of content for you, or B, you engage yourself in porn.
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: And I think we can say that's a that's a lose-lose situation.
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: There's no good outcome from either of those, but it's something that we all fall victim to.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: And I if I can leave you with anything today, I I think the most important thing is the solution.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: Or at least what the solution was for me.
- 23:37SPEAKER_00: I can't, you know, I can't promise that it'll be the solution for you, but the solution for me was you know, giving my life to God and surrendering my sin to God.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: And I think that second part is even more powerful because surrendering your your sin to God means being open and transparent and honest with God.
- 24:03SPEAKER_00: And now for me, what's been very, very helpful is uh getting this amazing group of men around me who have who have dealt with the same issue being transparent with them, but and I I I would say that's the way to go.
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: But if you truly cannot bring yourself that direction, then I don't want you to give up and just do nothing.
- 24:27SPEAKER_00: So instead of doing that, I just want you to to pray to God about it.
- 24:31SPEAKER_00: I want you to let me let me close this out with a prayer before we before we end this episode.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: Um Dear God, I come to you today blessed.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: Um, and I come to you with a request for for some of my brothers and sisters that are listening to this episode.
- 24:49SPEAKER_00: And um, God, I know we've we've had a lot of temptation from the devil recently, especially with this world that we live in, um with lust and worldly things, you know, going after riches and so many different things that just have a control over us.
- 25:08SPEAKER_00: I think it can be easy to fall victim, especially when we see as men, we see all these women who seemingly just want a man who has money and who has abs and who ha you know the the perfect man that you see in in movies.
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: It seems like we need to chase all this these worldly things so that we can live the life we want.
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: And the truth is, in you we'll never be on the wrong path.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: Um, which is a quote from a brother of mine that I love.
- 25:48SPEAKER_00: If we're if we're following God, we're never on the wrong path.
- 25:51SPEAKER_00: Um But in you, if we can come together, if we can be transparent and open and honest with each other and and trust in each other because we trust in you, then that will be what will be open, be able to end this pandemic, this this addiction, this habit, this itch that we have that is ruining so many and and women's lives.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: And we spoke about all the negative parts of it and today, and you know, those aren't gonna go away, but I think a lot of us when we're in the moment when we are pulling out that phone to or that laptop to to open up these malicious sites, it's easy to be like, oh yeah, he's just talking, you know, he's just talking whatever, you know.
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: He's not actu he doesn't actually mean what he's saying.
- 26:47SPEAKER_00: He probably is gonna go do it himself after this, after this prayer.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: And it's like Jesus, you are the way, you are my strength, you are my confidence, you are my power, you are my everything, you are my my and I always have this image in my mind, you are my bus driver, you you are my guide, you control my decisions, my life, and by putting my trust in you, by putting my fear in you, I've been blessed.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: I get myself around some amazing brothers and overcome this addiction.
- 27:24SPEAKER_00: Um and I just wish that you do the same for every single person that's watching this this episode.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: I I wish that you will provide them with with support and strength and honor and and and respect for themselves so that they can get over this habit, so that they can build their family, and they can be a part of their community, can they they can give back to their community, they can maybe maybe build wealth for their family, they can provide for their family, they can provide for their their wife and their children or their husband and their children, they can do all these amazing things that without you we cannot do.
- 28:09SPEAKER_00: God, I pray that you provide every one of my brothers and sisters here today strength and willpower and honor and respect and endurance and perseverance and persistence and all of the traits that you have.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: God, I thank you for another day on this beautiful planet.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: Um it might not seem like it at times, it might not seem so beautiful with a lot of what when we fall into the political trap and other parts of of life, but God, what you've created here is natural and and beautiful and amazing.
