- Lucas: Welcome back to another episode of Learn Italian with Fexingo. It is so good to be here with you again. Luna: Yeah. I was just thinking about how much we loved that last episode in the cabin. The warmth felt real. Lucas: It really did. And since you liked it, we thought it would be nice to stay inside a little longer. To keep that cozy feeling going. Luna: I love that idea. Staying warm indoors while the wind blows outside. That is my favorite kind of weather. Lucas: So today, we are going to revisit those five essential phrases from our cabin trip. We will say them slowly, check the meaning, and then practice until they feel natural. Luna: Okay. Let's start with the most important thing in a cold cabin. The fire. Lucas: Exactly. The first phrase is: il camino è acceso. Luna: Il camino è acceso. That means the fireplace is lit? Lucas: Yes. Il camino is the fireplace. È acceso means it is on or lit. So, il camino è acceso. Luna: Il camino è acceso. Okay. I can see it now. Bright orange flames. Lucas: Let's try it again together. Il camino è acceso. Say it with me. Luna: Il camino è acceso. Perfect. Lucas: Great. Now, before the fire stays lit, someone has to put wood in it. The next phrase is: metto la legna. Luna: Metto la legna. Metto means I put. Legna means firewood? Lucas: Right. Legna is the wood used for burning. So, metto la legna means I am putting the wood in. Luna: Metto la legna. I put the wood in. Got it. Lucas: Try it one more time. Metto la legna. Luna: Metto la legna. Nice and steady. Lucas: Good. Now the fire is going. You are tired from chopping wood. What do you do? Luna: I sit down. On the soft sofa. The phrase is: mi siedo sul divano. Lucas: Yes. Mi siedo means I sit myself, or I sit down. Sul divano is on the sofa. Mi siedo sul divano. Luna: Mi siedo sul divano. Ahh, that sounds comfortable. Lucas: It does. Let's say it slowly. Mi siedo... sul divano. Luna: Mi siedo sul divano. I sink into the cushions. Lucas: Perfect. And once you are seated, what is the best activity? Luna: Reading. In Italian, I read is leggo. A book is un libro. So: leggo un libro. Lucas: Exactly. Leggo un libro. Simple and peaceful. Leggo un libro. Luna: Leggo un libro. Just turning the pages by the firelight. Lucas: Beautiful image. One last phrase for today. When you are warm, safe, and reading, you might say: Luna: Che caldo che fa! It is so warm! Lucas: Yes. Che caldo che fa. It literally means what heat it makes, but we use it to say it is very warm inside. Che caldo che fa. Luna: Che caldo che fa. Oh, that feels so good after being outside in the snow. Lucas: It does. Let's recap all five quickly. Il camino è acceso. Luna: Il camino è acceso. Lucas: Metto la legna. Luna: Metto la legna. Lucas: Mi siedo sul divano. Luna: Mi siedo sul divano. Lucas: Leggo un libro. Luna: Leggo un libro. Lucas: Che caldo che fa. Luna: Che caldo che fa. Wow. That went fast. Lucas: It did. These phrases are becoming part of your toolkit. You can use them anytime you want to describe a cozy scene. Luna: I already feel warmer just saying them. Especially che caldo che fa. Lucas: That is the spirit. Before we go, I want to mention something important. If Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with these Italian phrases... Luna: Yeah. It really helps to hear them in context. Thanks for listening if you can do that. Lucas: Of course. Back to our cabin. Imagine the fire crackling. Il camino è acceso. Luna: I add more wood. Metto la legna. Lucas: You relax completely. Mi siedo sul divano. Luna: I open my book. Leggo un libro. Lucas: And you sigh with contentment. Che caldo che fa. Luna: Che caldo che fa. This is the best way to end an episode. Lucas: It is. Practice these phrases a few times today. Say them while you drink tea or look out the window. Luna: I will. I think I might actually go get a blanket right now. Lucas: Do that. Stay warm, Luna. See you next time. Luna: Bye everyone. Keep practicing.
