- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcoming in Jason locking for Baltimore Orioles a disappointment to
- 0:09Speaker 1: say the least last year after what they had done
- 0:12Speaker 1: the previous two years didn't really add much last off season.
- 0:16Speaker 1: And what do you think, Jason, welcome in? Thank you
- 0:21Speaker 1: for joining us here. And we've seen some of your tweets,
- 0:24Speaker 1: so we know that you take a critical eye at
- 0:28Speaker 1: the Baltimore keeps you real, Keep it real.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I like that.
- 0:32Speaker 1: That's that's better, So keep it real with us. What's
- 0:35Speaker 1: your biggest off season priorities right now?
- 0:38Speaker 3: Well, look, number one on my checklist will be fire Michaelias.
- 0:40Speaker 3: But they promoted him and didn't even bother to tell
- 0:42Speaker 3: their fans about it. And if not for your buddy
- 0:44Speaker 3: Ken Rolls and Fall and the reporters at the Athletic,
- 0:46Speaker 3: we still maybe wouldn't have known about it.
- 0:48Speaker 2: But as it stands, we're stuck with Elias.
- 0:50Speaker 3: So he needs to go out and get a legitimate
- 0:52Speaker 3: impact minilal order bat, preferably one who can play center
- 0:56Speaker 3: field and do so on a everyday basis, because I
- 0:58Speaker 3: don't think Calton Cawser's you never player. They need to
- 1:01Speaker 3: rebuild the entire back end of their bullpen. That's not
- 1:04Speaker 3: really a revelation. And I put this this lasting third.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Some people will put it first, but they need to
- 1:10Speaker 3: get another starting pitcher who could be more than an
- 1:12Speaker 3: innings eater, someone to compliment Bradish and I guess Rogers
- 1:17Speaker 3: the top of the rotation.
- 1:19Speaker 4: But they said have to go get an impact back,
- 1:21Speaker 4: so like would like a Tyler O'Neill to play. Oh wait, no,
- 1:25Speaker 4: that was less so so is that impact bat based
- 1:29Speaker 4: on the fact that now they offered hundreds of millions
- 1:33Speaker 4: of dollars to Corbyn Burns and it didn't It didn't
- 1:35Speaker 4: pan out, So maybe Rubinstein has that money. Or is
- 1:39Speaker 4: this a or is this a we got a trade
- 1:41Speaker 4: for the center fielder or are they just going to
- 1:44Speaker 4: take whoever the Phillies because they take whoever the Phillies
- 1:47Speaker 4: had and take one of their centerfielders.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Well, I would say to the Burns of it all,
- 1:51Speaker 3: they knew he wasn't taking that that offer. He literally
- 1:54Speaker 3: left publicly in their face about that offer. So I
- 1:57Speaker 3: just think they wanted to be in the vicinity to
- 1:59Speaker 3: be able to say we look, I mean, it could
- 2:02Speaker 3: be Bellinger. I don't think they're gonna get Bellinger or Swerber.
- 2:06Speaker 3: I think they'll have to be creative and make a trade.
- 2:08Speaker 3: And Cedric Mallins may have been declining, but Cedric Mallins
- 2:11Speaker 3: was a hell of a baseball player here. And Enrique
- 2:14Speaker 3: Bradfield Jr. Is barely played at Triple A, so he
- 2:17Speaker 3: can't be even counting on whatsoever this coming year.
- 2:21Speaker 2: And again, the.
- 2:21Speaker 3: More you see at Calser and the more you see
- 2:23Speaker 3: that all he can hit is fastballs. And I don't
- 2:26Speaker 3: think he can play center field either, and he's got
- 2:29Speaker 3: deficiencies throwing to the cutoff man and throwing to the
- 2:31Speaker 3: right base. Not a very heady player. So no, they
- 2:34Speaker 3: need a center field or they need a field general
- 2:36Speaker 3: out there. I would say they need an impact bat
- 2:38Speaker 3: in their infield as well. They need more out of
- 2:40Speaker 3: first base, like a Pete Alonzo type would be great.
- 2:43Speaker 2: That's not gonna happen, but they need to move off
- 2:45Speaker 2: from Mountcastle.
- 2:46Speaker 3: And like if they're going to try to sell a
- 2:48Speaker 3: Platuna Mayo and Bisaio and a little bit of adlee
- 2:51Speaker 3: at first base, I would say that sounds like the
- 2:53Speaker 3: kind of things they often can cock that blow up
- 2:56Speaker 3: in their face.
- 2:57Speaker 4: Yeah, always, always, the prospects never the championships. But let's
- 3:02Speaker 4: go to an area that, as much as the youth
- 3:05Speaker 4: and prospect everything was an area of strength and yet
- 3:09Speaker 4: to be determined by some solidified by others. Let's talk
- 3:14Speaker 4: about the back end of the bullpen. That was your
- 3:15Speaker 4: second point on your to do list, the back end
- 3:19Speaker 4: of the bullpen? How long ago? Oh man, the Mountain's
- 3:23Speaker 4: coming back. Phelis Batista's coming back, and you know, we
- 3:26Speaker 4: can put in your near canoe into the closer's role,
- 3:29Speaker 4: which was never gonna work because he's not a strikeout guy.
- 3:31Speaker 4: And then we had Sir Anthony that, uh, well he's gone.
- 3:35Speaker 4: How did a strength turn into such a not even
- 3:40Speaker 4: just not even weakness, but like a gaping hole that
- 3:43Speaker 4: they have to fill.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Now, well, you.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Can take it back to Batista throwing bullpens in a
- 3:47Speaker 3: hundred degree heat in the summer, in a season when
- 3:50Speaker 3: everybody with a brain knew he was gonna have to
- 3:51Speaker 3: get Tommy John anyway, they put that surgery off. He
- 3:54Speaker 3: didn't come back from that surgery all the time. I
- 3:56Speaker 3: would say there's major question marks with their medical team,
- 3:58Speaker 3: because nobody really comes back from their surgeries all the
- 4:01Speaker 3: time around here. So and they remember they got Kimberle
- 4:04Speaker 3: to try to fill that role originally and gave him
- 4:06Speaker 3: furteen million dollars, which is like fifty million dollars for
- 4:09Speaker 3: a real team with the way these guys spend, and
- 4:11Speaker 3: and so they've been chasing their tail ever since.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Then.
- 4:13Speaker 3: This year they counted on Batista coming back delayed off
- 4:16Speaker 3: of a delayed Tommy John and they didn't have a
- 4:19Speaker 3: whole lot of insurance there, and they don't have enough
- 4:21Speaker 3: guys in swinging miss stuff in the back end period.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Like I think them reuniting with a Danny Colomb who
- 4:28Speaker 3: can get left these end right, he's out with a
- 4:31Speaker 3: six pitch mix.
- 4:32Speaker 2: It's not going to be with you know, Velo that
- 4:34Speaker 2: nobody can touch.
- 4:35Speaker 3: But he was great here and he was great with
- 4:37Speaker 3: the Twins and they shouldn't have let him leave in
- 4:38Speaker 3: the first place. And then they need a right handed
- 4:41Speaker 3: setup guy, and they need a closer. And look, if
- 4:44Speaker 3: they would just commit to Tyler Wells not being a starter,
- 4:46Speaker 3: you're never going to get a lot of indings out
- 4:48Speaker 3: of Tyler Wells without him breaking down and let him
- 4:50Speaker 3: all distion to be the setup guy or the closer.
- 4:52Speaker 3: That would be one thing, but they're opposed to it,
- 4:55Speaker 3: swore as I could see being right up their ally
- 4:58Speaker 3: because his brother Albert's already pitched.
- 5:02Speaker 1: All right, you mentioned first base in the gaping hole.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Ever you think a gaping hole in terms of the
- 5:07Speaker 1: power about it first base? What about Sam Besio? I
- 5:10Speaker 1: mean they say long term, they don't plan on sticking
- 5:12Speaker 1: him at ketcher because of his offensive upside and they
- 5:15Speaker 1: don't want to drain that. Adly did have a down
- 5:18Speaker 1: year last year, but he kind of picked back up
- 5:20Speaker 1: late in the season. So moving you know he's going
- 5:22Speaker 1: to be the catcher. What about moving Besio over permanently.
- 5:26Speaker 2: I mean, he's twenty years old, like this kid like has.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Got enough on his play trying to figure out how
- 5:31Speaker 3: to catch at the major league level and again another
- 5:34Speaker 3: sort of odd player development quasi failure for them. Just
- 5:37Speaker 3: go look at how many innings he has and has
- 5:39Speaker 3: not caught in the minor leagues at catcher. Like So,
- 5:43Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know, Like I think to count
- 5:46Speaker 3: on him and to count on Mayo would be typical
- 5:51Speaker 3: for them. It would be the kind of stuff they
- 5:54Speaker 3: like to sell to their fan base. But I also
- 5:56Speaker 3: think it could be potentially fraught with peril like Kobe
- 5:59Speaker 3: Mayo's got a whole lot of holes in his.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Swing still, and it's probably a positionless player.
- 6:04Speaker 3: And I just think you know to expect Bosio to
- 6:07Speaker 3: provide elite own base and power, and they need both
- 6:11Speaker 3: at first base in his first full major league season
- 6:15Speaker 3: while playing some catcher. That doesn't strike me as a
- 6:19Speaker 3: way to solidify your lineup. It strikes me as more
- 6:22Speaker 3: on these kids who need people to take stuff off
- 6:24Speaker 3: of them, like someone cut her out.
- 6:28Speaker 1: That's why I'm saying, don't have him catch, move him
- 6:30Speaker 1: to first base, a permanent first baseman.
- 6:33Speaker 3: Kevin is back, Let's let's have him back seventh in
- 6:35Speaker 3: the lineup and and call that a day in the
- 6:38Speaker 3: developmental year. And let's go get a real lineup, like,
- 6:41Speaker 3: let's not try to prop up Tyler O'Neal and pretend
- 6:43Speaker 3: that's something like let's not do the poppy Kakka last year.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Get Gary Sanchez to pretend.
- 6:48Speaker 3: He's a catcher, like, they need to get something real
- 6:51Speaker 3: in the middle of this lineup. And again that guy,
- 6:53Speaker 3: ideally he's got to play center field, or he's got
- 6:56Speaker 3: to play first base. The whole youth and these kids
- 7:02Speaker 3: are telling you, We're not it man, Like we need
- 7:05Speaker 3: where's our Bregman, you know, like where's our Kyle Tucker?
- 7:10Speaker 3: Like it can't all just be from within like they failed.
- 7:14Speaker 3: They failed multiple years down the stretch. So I mean,
- 7:17Speaker 3: I look, nobody likes Sam Pasillo more than me. I've
- 7:19Speaker 3: been on sammy first time I saw video him as
- 7:21Speaker 3: a sixteen year old. But like to count on that,
- 7:25Speaker 3: I think would be really sort of sophomore. But again
- 7:29Speaker 3: they are the quintessentially sophomoric. Chase your own tail front office.
- 7:34Speaker 3: So just keep doing what you're doing. It's been great.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Okay, here you a ja.
- 7:42Speaker 5: We can't get me immuted no matter what Jason.
- 7:44Speaker 2: I can't yell as much as Jason did.
- 7:46Speaker 5: But here's what I want to know, Jason. Here's my thing.
- 7:49Speaker 5: Your third thing on here is, yes, we know they
- 7:51Speaker 5: have to do find these hitters, and yes they have
- 7:53Speaker 5: to find these bullpen guys, and yes they have to
- 7:54Speaker 5: find starting pitching. You have Grayson coming back hopefully. You know,
- 7:59Speaker 5: you have a little bit of guys that can pitch
- 8:02Speaker 5: for you. You know Rogers pitch grade for him. You know,
- 8:05Speaker 5: Kramer will eat some innings for you. They have some
- 8:07Speaker 5: guys that can cover it. Yeah, so why won't will
- 8:09Speaker 5: are they scared to use these prospects that they've been
- 8:12Speaker 5: hoarding now for years, as you said, that haven't developed.
- 8:15Speaker 5: Because I'm not one hundred percent sold on all these
- 8:17Speaker 5: guys are going to be superstars like every of Baltimore things.
- 8:21Speaker 5: Will they use some of these guys to go get
- 8:23Speaker 5: a top three starting pitcher, a whoever that person needs
- 8:27Speaker 5: to be, Go get Trek Scouble be like you know what, Detroit,
- 8:29Speaker 5: we don't know if you want to trade him, but
- 8:31Speaker 5: we're going to give you our whole farm system for
- 8:33Speaker 5: a guy like Terrek Scouble and then possibly resign him
- 8:36Speaker 5: instead of what they do with Corba Murgens. Why won't
- 8:38Speaker 5: they do that? Because that seems to be the path
- 8:40Speaker 5: that they're not going to spend.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't. I believe. I'm more convinced.
- 8:45Speaker 3: They'll spend on a bat than than do what you're doing,
- 8:47Speaker 3: pay a prospect cost and make Terrek Scooble the highest
- 8:50Speaker 3: paid pitcher in the league. Like, I don't believe Michael
- 8:52Speaker 3: Last wants any part of anything remotely like that. I
- 8:55Speaker 3: think he's incredibly risk averse. He don't even want to
- 8:58Speaker 3: draft pictures in the first round. He refuses to do it.
- 9:00Speaker 3: He doesn't really want to take him until the third round.
- 9:02Speaker 3: But you're telling me he's going to go out and
- 9:05Speaker 3: give up all these kids he's been hoarding and then
- 9:07Speaker 3: go pay Schooble. What you know, he and his representation
- 9:11Speaker 3: are going to want to commit here for five or
- 9:13Speaker 3: six years. Oh yeah, and he's already had one time,
- 9:15Speaker 3: he John Like, I don't buy that for a second.
- 9:18Speaker 3: I don't buy they ever really wanted corbyn Burns. They
- 9:21Speaker 3: want it again to be with enough of earshot at
- 9:23Speaker 3: Corbyn Burns to say we tried, he turned us down.
- 9:27Speaker 3: So yeah, Like I think, Look, I think it's more
- 9:29Speaker 3: likely they go with a Martine Perez type and sell
- 9:31Speaker 3: him as a three than do any of this stuff.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Like they didn't want to give a Valdi. What did
- 9:36Speaker 2: it have taken last.
- 9:36Speaker 3: Year twenty five a year seventy five for three, you'd
- 9:39Speaker 3: have got him out of there for sure, Like they
- 9:41Speaker 3: weren't even thinking that way last year.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Do I think they've had this like huge course correction.
- 9:47Speaker 2: I don't.
- 9:47Speaker 3: And that's part of the reason it's lower on my
- 9:49Speaker 3: list is because of the inherent injury risk with pitching
- 9:53Speaker 3: and the way so many guys got wiped out. They're
- 9:56Speaker 3: taking a victory lab quietly like, oh, just see what
- 9:58Speaker 3: happened to Burns, Like would say that Walls and us
- 10:01Speaker 3: say they killed our whole payroll. I just don't think
- 10:03Speaker 3: that's really how they roll. If they get pitching, it's
- 10:06Speaker 3: gonna be called certain pitcher. Somebody else has already negotiated
- 10:09Speaker 3: the contract, somebody else has probably already paid a year
- 10:11Speaker 3: or two of it, and we'll assume the rest.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Krats.
- 10:17Speaker 6: Pop quiz what has thirty five grams of protein, six
- 10:20Speaker 6: grams of fiber, twenty seven essential vitamins and minerals, comes
- 10:23Speaker 6: in excellent flavors like of course chocolate, vanilla, but chocolate,
- 10:27Speaker 6: peanut butter, my favorite, no added sugar, gluten free, under
- 10:30Speaker 6: five dollars per meal, and is ready to drink.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Go out of the house, get yourself a heel. Look
- 10:38Speaker 4: at you, You even have one right there ready to
- 10:40Speaker 4: smack that John Ugh Chocolate, peanut butter, chocolate and vanilla
- 10:44Speaker 4: Delicio cells.
- 10:45Speaker 6: Also, there is a new Daily Greens ready to drink
- 10:49Speaker 6: forty two vitamins, minerals and superfoods only twenty five calories

- 11:17Speaker 4: Let me ask youself. You said you said about michae Elias,
- 11:20Speaker 4: how he got that contract extension, and everybody thought maybe
- 11:23Speaker 4: you should be fired you you included. But let me
- 11:27Speaker 4: ask you this. He has brought talent to the minor
- 11:30Speaker 4: league system. He had success in Houston doing that. Would
- 11:34Speaker 4: you been against him in a different role with the
- 11:38Speaker 4: organization and somebody brought in that has finished the deal before,
- 11:42Speaker 4: because clearly he was given some money last year, not
- 11:46Speaker 4: a lot. I think seventy million can improve you a
- 11:49Speaker 4: lot more than Chicano and Tyler O'Neil. But could that
- 11:53Speaker 4: have been the route so that you just have somebody
- 11:57Speaker 4: that's willing to take the three point shot instead of
- 12:00Speaker 4: always lay up, lay up, lay up.
- 12:04Speaker 2: I mean it would have been great. I called for
- 12:06Speaker 2: years for checks and balances.
- 12:07Speaker 3: You can go back three years ago and find he
- 12:09Speaker 3: rant on the radio or going my Twitter, like they
- 12:10Speaker 3: needed a Dombrowski type who'd actually won before, who actually
- 12:13Speaker 3: had the cajones to know that sometimes like time is urgent,
- 12:18Speaker 3: like there is a like this year the al least
- 12:21Speaker 3: is really down, and this year there's more pitching available
- 12:24Speaker 3: at the deadline, then there's probably going to be in
- 12:27Speaker 3: the future, So now's the time to trade some of
- 12:29Speaker 3: these prospects and pounce.
- 12:31Speaker 2: And instead, you know, they got Flaherty for Drew rom.
- 12:33Speaker 3: Like so yeah, no, they needed a someone with big
- 12:36Speaker 3: boy pants here a long time ago, but like we're
- 12:38Speaker 3: right beyond that now, Like this guy got more money,
- 12:41Speaker 3: he got more power when the world fouled out.
- 12:45Speaker 2: For reporting not through the organization.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Nine months later, he then started whispering to people, well,
- 12:50Speaker 3: but we could hire a GM. Now he's already come
- 12:51Speaker 3: out and said I'm not getting a GM. So even
- 12:54Speaker 3: if he won't even hire a puppet GM who literally
- 12:56Speaker 3: wouldn't have any checks and bounces or pushback, and we'll
- 12:59Speaker 3: be reporting to him anyway, like they're not getting any
- 13:02Speaker 3: better for me as an organization until he's gone. Until
- 13:05Speaker 3: the met bloods of the world stop getting extensions, and
- 13:07Speaker 3: they get the hell out of my city too. And
- 13:09Speaker 3: you get a real front office in here that can
- 13:11Speaker 3: go to these billionaires and say, all right, everything you
- 13:14Speaker 3: heard from these people is out the window. Here's how
- 13:16Speaker 3: we get These people have been waiting for a parade
- 13:18Speaker 3: since nineteen eighty three, a parade in the next couple
- 13:21Speaker 3: of years. I don't believe Michael Lias is wired that way.
- 13:24Speaker 3: I don't believe he'll ever be wired that way. And
- 13:26Speaker 3: there is no one in that building to push back
- 13:28Speaker 3: on anything he thinks. Everybody genuflects to him and his
- 13:32Speaker 3: calculator and tells them how brilliant he is. Just watch
- 13:35Speaker 3: the press conference with the new manager and he asked
- 13:36Speaker 3: him about personnel. Why would I ever even have a
- 13:39Speaker 3: thought about personnel? Like whatever, dude, Like, let's just play
- 13:43Speaker 3: it out. Let's fast forward to the season and then
- 13:46Speaker 3: there's going to be a lockout and hopefully this guy's
- 13:49Speaker 3: out of my life sometime in the next two years.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Hi, Jason, it sounds like sounds like you don't have
- 13:58Speaker 1: a lot of hope for this or team moving forward.
- 14:01Speaker 1: A j You're still muted, so we're not worried about
- 14:03Speaker 1: you right now?
- 14:04Speaker 5: Okay, I give up. I give up because you know what,
- 14:06Speaker 5: producer Lady's supposed to unmute me, and she's not on top.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Of her knees today, so we're gonna ask.
- 14:11Speaker 5: We're gonna have to have an argument later.
- 14:13Speaker 2: But we don't know special button.
- 14:16Speaker 1: They gave me as a guest host like the mute
- 14:18Speaker 1: aj But sorry.
- 14:20Speaker 5: Sorry, yes now you I was what I want to
- 14:23Speaker 5: from Jason, Who do you want? Who do you want
- 14:25Speaker 5: them to sign? Who do you want them to go get?
- 14:28Speaker 4: Give me in one minute, give me.
- 14:30Speaker 5: Two or three names that you would love for the
- 14:31Speaker 5: Orioles to go get that would help fix this problem.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Go get Kyle Tucker.
- 14:37Speaker 5: Oh duh, Go get one soda and show he o Tani.
- 14:43Speaker 2: They kind of traded for Wan soda.
- 14:44Speaker 3: I was begging than the trade for Wan soda that
- 14:46Speaker 3: year they had more they I mean, look, that trade
- 14:51Speaker 3: ended up being absolutely genius for the Padres. I mean
- 14:56Speaker 3: sorry for the Natsuh, but like these guys, these guys,
- 15:00Speaker 3: these guys could have done that. They absolutely I was
- 15:02Speaker 3: begging them to do it in real time even one
- 15:04Speaker 3: year that year would have put them over the top.
- 15:08Speaker 2: But now I.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Mean again, they get an aircraft carrier in the middle
- 15:11Speaker 3: of their lineup for me first and foremost.
- 15:13Speaker 2: So if you think that's Bellinger, then Bellinger.
- 15:15Speaker 3: But like if you're asking me right now, it's it's
- 15:18Speaker 3: it's Kyle Tucker.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Okay, Kyle Tucker is your target, you know. I just
- 15:25Speaker 1: want to point out, Jason really quickly that the Toronto
- 15:27Speaker 1: Blue Jays finished last last year, and where were they
- 15:32Speaker 1: this year this October?
- 15:34Speaker 2: Where were a lot of people A lot of people
- 15:36Speaker 2: are saying that.
- 15:37Speaker 3: I see zero when the Orioles have a five hundred
- 15:40Speaker 3: million dollar first baseman and and they go out and
- 15:44Speaker 3: sign multiple free agents or at the top of their
- 15:48Speaker 3: uh at their lineup, or you know the leadoff guy,
- 15:50Speaker 3: you know Springer, who where'd he come from? Oh yeah,
- 15:52Speaker 3: they had to spend money to get him from someplace else.
- 15:55Speaker 3: When when oh yeah, and then they kept they kept
- 15:57Speaker 3: Vladdie and these guys signed Basio and then started wanting
- 16:00Speaker 3: about the contract thirty seconds later, Like there's zero comparisons
- 16:03Speaker 3: for me between them in Toronto, Like Toronto situationally hit,
- 16:07Speaker 3: like Toronto had what six guys get gold gloves.
- 16:10Speaker 2: People come to this team in the miners they don't
- 16:12Speaker 2: have a position.
- 16:13Speaker 3: They've played so many different positions, they're no good at
- 16:16Speaker 3: any of them. They don't know how to slide. Watch
- 16:18Speaker 3: Jackson Holiday slide head first was feet in the air.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Tell me about their player development. No, they ain't Toronto,
- 16:26Speaker 3: that's true.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Toronto did spend a lot in free agency.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Jason.
- 16:29Speaker 5: You have to last in the World Series, though, hid
- 16:31Speaker 5: you don't forget that.
- 16:34Speaker 2: First to count them.
- 16:37Speaker 1: They won the Al Bennet. Aj They won the Al
- 16:39Speaker 1: Bennett all right, Jason blackimbore, thank you so much for
- 16:42Speaker 1: joining us. You've got a show to go do on radio.
- 16:45Speaker 1: We really appreciate the time and the spunk that you
- 16:48Speaker 1: brought with it.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Always. Thank you, guys, thanks for having me. All right,
- 16:52Speaker 2: we're back.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Kyle Tucker, he was just mentioned as Jason's wish list
- 16:57Speaker 1: for the Baltimore Orioles. So which team needs to sign
- 17:00Speaker 1: Kyle Tucker in free agency? Jason thinks it's the Orioles.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Who do you guys think we're gonna start with?
- 17:05Speaker 4: You, Cratzy, I mean, it's got to be the Cubs
- 17:09Speaker 4: in my opinion, it's got to be the Cubs. I know.
- 17:11Speaker 4: The article talks about the Phillies and I'm supposed to
- 17:14Speaker 4: be the resident Philly expert here, But Homer, they tried.
- 17:18Speaker 4: The Phillies tried to get him last year. The Phillies
- 17:20Speaker 4: had a deal with the Astros for you know, a
- 17:23Speaker 4: Nick Costiano's Alec Boum and a prospect for Kyle Tucker.
- 17:28Speaker 4: He would have looked tremendous in that outfield, as anybody
- 17:31Speaker 4: will look tremendous when you're adding it to a lineup
- 17:34Speaker 4: that's already legit. But to me, how the Cubs don't
- 17:38Speaker 4: resign him? And I get it. I've heard all the
- 17:40Speaker 4: you know, they're not gonna sign all this stuff. You trade,
- 17:44Speaker 4: you trade what they traded Cam Smith, Estak Parades, two
- 17:48Speaker 4: guys that could have helped your team also or help
- 17:52Speaker 4: your team in the future. Now you don't even resign
- 17:56Speaker 4: this guy like you have. If you're the Cubs, you
- 17:57Speaker 4: at least have to make it legitimate. You have to
- 18:00Speaker 4: be in the four hundred million dollar range. If you
- 18:03Speaker 4: fall short, at least you made someone else pay more.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, the Cubs are definitely in on him
- 18:10Speaker 1: and Kyle. When I spoke to him in Gosh early September,
- 18:15Speaker 1: he said he he he loved his time there. He
- 18:18Speaker 1: definitely would like to stay there, but he earned the
- 18:22Speaker 1: right to test free agency. I think that slump he
- 18:24Speaker 1: had in August may have brought his number down a
- 18:27Speaker 1: little bit, but he's still going to get top dollar,
- 18:30Speaker 1: right AJ.
- 18:32Speaker 5: Listen, the Cubs are out. They've already said they're out.
- 18:35Speaker 5: As much as they want to be in there, they're
- 18:39Speaker 5: not in. They said already said we're gonna go for
- 18:42Speaker 5: middle market relievers and starters. And Kyle to come on,
- 18:46Speaker 5: you're the Cubs, Aldy, you're wearing an Expo shirt. Okay,
- 18:49Speaker 5: expos you're out on a lot of pilayers. You're the Cubs.
- 18:54Speaker 5: Go sign whoever you want. If you want to sign
- 18:56Speaker 5: whoever you want, You're the Cubs.
- 18:58Speaker 1: You can do it.
- 18:58Speaker 5: So Ricketts family, wallets get off of them. Go sign
- 19:02Speaker 5: whoever you want.
- 19:06Speaker 1: He was a big part of that team. He was
- 19:08Speaker 1: a big part of that team. But when the Cubs
- 19:11Speaker 1: started struggling, he was right in the middle of that
- 19:13Speaker 1: this year prolonged slump.
- 19:16Speaker 4: So that shows you he was worth It shows you
- 19:20Speaker 4: if he goes, the team goes.
- 19:23Speaker 1: GM meetings are underway this week in Vegas, which is
- 19:26Speaker 1: more of like a set the scene start chatting whatever
- 19:30Speaker 1: than actual news breaking. But according to Francis Romero, hearing
- 19:33Speaker 1: from the GM meetings that the reliever market could start
- 19:35Speaker 1: moving in the next few hours with big names such
- 19:38Speaker 1: as Edwin Diaz, Devin Williams, Robertsworrez, raycell Iglesias, and Ryan Helsley.
- 19:44Speaker 1: It was already a trend at the last trade deadline.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Of course, it is relievers on the move. It's always
- 19:50Speaker 1: a trade trend at every trade deadline. Cratsy, who do
- 19:53Speaker 1: you think goes first?
- 19:55Speaker 4: Everybody needs a closer, So who goes first? You know what?
- 19:59Speaker 4: I look at that list. If I'm Ryan Helsley's agent,
- 20:03Speaker 4: I'm making sure he goes first. I'm setting where i
- 20:05Speaker 4: want my market to be, and I'm not allowing those
- 20:09Speaker 4: other monsters. I mean Edwin, Devin Williams, Robert Suarez, like
- 20:15Speaker 4: those are three legit like nlal reliever of the Year
- 20:21Speaker 4: type of pictures, and they're all out on the market.
- 20:24Speaker 4: And Ryan Helsley kind of he faded. He didn't do
- 20:28Speaker 4: well when he went to New York. So to me,
- 20:30Speaker 4: I hope for him, I hope he goes first so
- 20:33Speaker 4: that he isn't being dictated by the rest of the
- 20:36Speaker 4: guys in the market, and I think he could get
- 20:38Speaker 4: he could get something that maybe won't be out there
- 20:40Speaker 4: once other guys are already gone. But I don't remember
- 20:44Speaker 4: a reliever market this big. This is a nice market
- 20:47Speaker 4: if you need a closer.
- 20:48Speaker 1: What are we hearing on qualifying offers? The Cardinals have
- 20:52Speaker 1: some movement going on and hein Bloom took over. I'm
- 20:54Speaker 1: interested to see what hein Bloom does because he was
- 20:57Speaker 1: there in the organization kind of way in the wings
- 21:00Speaker 1: under Mosila for a while, and now it's his baby.
- 21:03Speaker 1: So we're hearing Brendan Donovan, Nolan ar Nato might be
- 21:07Speaker 1: on the move. What do you guys think about that?
- 21:09Speaker 2: Kratz?
- 21:10Speaker 4: I mean, I think heim Bloom is he didn't have
- 21:14Speaker 4: to do what they thought was going to be the
- 21:15Speaker 4: heavy lifting last year in getting rid of Nolan Aernado,
- 21:18Speaker 4: because that's exactly what he had to do when he
- 21:21Speaker 4: went to Boston. They said, I need you to offer
- 21:24Speaker 4: Mookie Betts one hundred and twenty million dollars and that's
- 21:28Speaker 4: all you're going to get to offer him, or you
- 21:31Speaker 4: take care of the rest. So it made it look
- 21:33Speaker 4: like heinin Bloom didn't want to keep him around, so
- 21:37Speaker 4: the front the ownership made him make a tough decision.
- 21:42Speaker 4: So good for the Cardinals for not making him be
- 21:44Speaker 4: the guy who comes in and just Rex House. There's
- 21:46Speaker 4: still some stuff he has to do, so I hope
- 21:48Speaker 4: he can get Aeronaudo off the books. I hope he
- 21:51Speaker 4: can get something for Brendan Donovan because I don't think
- 21:53Speaker 4: it's the Cardinals year this year. But if you look
- 21:55Speaker 4: at what he did with the Red Sox, he's already
- 21:57Speaker 4: started that in the minor leagues, kind of revamped how
- 22:00Speaker 4: they did stuff in the minorn leagues, and hopefully that
- 22:03Speaker 4: comes to fruition. You know, it's paid a little bit.
- 22:06Speaker 4: Maybe he could even get rid of a Contraras or
- 22:08Speaker 4: a Sonny Gray that would add to that depth that
- 22:11Speaker 4: they have some young, nice players to bring up and
- 22:14Speaker 4: then bring the Cardinals back to the ranips
