- 0:02Well,
- 0:03after all the tussle the last couple of
- 0:04weeks or a couple of days about people
- 0:07getting their invites,
- 0:09I might be getting one now.
- 0:22I love the chase and the hunt and
- 0:23I set the pace when I'm running.
- 0:25I always take what I want and I
- 0:27always give it one hundred.
- 0:28Don't need a bank, no I'm funded.
- 0:29Play the game like it's nothing.
- 0:31I'm always thankful for something.
- 0:32Don't take for granted, stay humble.
- 0:34Now wake up!
- 0:35It's time to look at the enemy.
- 0:38Look in the mirror if he is no
- 0:40friend to me.
- 0:41It's not working out,
- 0:42maybe it's the chemistry.
- 0:43It's time to break up so I can
- 0:45make a better me.
- 0:50It's lunch time.
- 0:52what is going on everybody welcome to
- 0:54lunch with the Clydesdale it is a
- 0:57Wednesday we are halfway through the week
- 1:01getting stronger and stronger every day
- 1:04and uh feeling pretty good uh last night
- 1:08I caught up on two glintons podcasts I
- 1:13watched the savant podcast with them
- 1:19very informational about what's going on
- 1:21in the drama and all of that kind
- 1:25of stuff.
- 1:26But the one I really,
- 1:27really enjoyed was the Ali Zerkey
- 1:29interview.
- 1:30Oh, dude.
- 1:30Ali's amazing.
- 1:32Yeah, I mean, again,
- 1:36I knew Colton way back.
- 1:37Right.
- 1:38And I got to hang out with him
- 1:40and him and Allie or her and Colton
- 1:46after Granite Games in twenty two with Ken
- 1:49Walters.
- 1:50Like just those names and putting them
- 1:54together.
- 1:58it's like this weird psychedelic trip.
- 2:03Uh, Ken Walters, Ali Zerkey, Colton Ernst,
- 2:05and Scott Switzer walked into a bar.
- 2:09Just go ahead and let that wash over
- 2:10you for a little bit.
- 2:14Uh, and, uh,
- 2:17And so, like, I love Allie.
- 2:19And she hung out with Jamie and I
- 2:21at the Pasadena semifinals a couple years
- 2:25ago.
- 2:26And she's just a tremendous,
- 2:28tremendous woman.
- 2:29And it was so,
- 2:31so much fun listening to her tell the
- 2:35origin story, her origin story.
- 2:39I've had her on the podcast,
- 2:40but it's always been with Colton.
- 2:43Right.
- 2:46The Glintons killed it, man.
- 2:47I should have had her on long ago.
- 2:51Absolutely.
- 2:53They are very,
- 2:53very good at what they do,
- 2:55which is just having just regular
- 2:57conversations,
- 2:58getting to know people type stuff.
- 3:00And it's entertaining to watch.
- 3:03They have fun with people.
- 3:05It's not static.
- 3:06It's not what's your favorite color type
- 3:08shit.
- 3:10It's fun to watch.
- 3:12Well, and I think I said this.
- 3:15Where I really fell in love with the
- 3:16Glintons is when I was driving from Albany
- 3:19to Columbus,
- 3:20Ohio after the games last year.
- 3:23And...
- 3:25They,
- 3:26they are such fans of the sport and
- 3:28the athletes.
- 3:30It reminds me of why I loved what
- 3:32I loved.
- 3:33Right.
- 3:34It gets,
- 3:34it gets my head out of all of
- 3:36that weird bullshit,
- 3:38the drama that surrounds it all.
- 3:41And like,
- 3:41just takes you right down to the root
- 3:43of pure fandom.
- 3:44Sure.
- 3:46And that's why,
- 3:46and that's why I continue to listen to
- 3:49them because they bring that joy to every
- 3:52interview.
- 3:54They actually want,
- 3:55they're not interviewing people because
- 3:57they're the hot thing at the moment.
- 3:58They're interviewing people that they want
- 4:00to talk to and you can tell.
- 4:02Like they're having conversations with
- 4:04people and they're, like you said,
- 4:05they're excited to talk about or to talk
- 4:08to and they really want to be in
- 4:11it.
- 4:11And they are in the moment and it's
- 4:14fun to watch.
- 4:14It's fun to watch.
- 4:15It's fun to listen to.
- 4:17And then doing the live workouts with the
- 4:20community.
- 4:22Another home run.
- 4:23Yeah.
- 4:25I know they're trying to get to like
- 4:26a thousand followers on Instagram so they
- 4:29can go live with stuff.
- 4:32Get them there, man.
- 4:33Go follow the Gartons on Instagram.
- 4:35Get them up over a thousand.
- 4:37And speaking of numbers, we are two.
- 4:42Two subscribers away from three grand.
- 4:45Two.
- 4:47Just one and then two.
- 4:51Be those people.
- 4:53If you're listening right now and you're
- 4:55not a subscriber, be those people.
- 4:58Get us over the hump, please.
- 5:00We are at twenty two ninety eight.
- 5:02Twenty nine ninety eight.
- 5:03Twenty nine ninety eight.
- 5:07So cool.
- 5:09Joseph says it feels like Savon got a
- 5:11lot off his chest last night.
- 5:17it doesn't surprise me,
- 5:19but it came across as like,
- 5:22like a disappointed dad.
- 5:24Sure.
- 5:27Like, cause he kept saying like,
- 5:29I didn't even see it coming and I
- 5:31didn't.
- 5:31And, and maybe that's on me and me,
- 5:34you know, like, and it,
- 5:35and it wasn't like he was angry or
- 5:37it, he never said this.
- 5:40He never said this,
- 5:41but to me it felt like he was
- 5:42just hurt.
- 5:43Yeah.
- 5:44was hurt that this thing that he had
- 5:46that he thought was like so cool and
- 5:49so tight and all of that um fell
- 5:53apart under his watch and under his nose
- 5:56and it was right there and he seemed
- 5:58to have just not caught the signs yeah
- 6:02like when he's talking about tyler
- 6:06That's the vibe I got too.
- 6:07It's like I never saw it and he
- 6:11feels bad for it because he doesn't want
- 6:13anybody to feel like that.
- 6:14The dude's
- 6:17He's a really nice person.
- 6:19He's a good human being and he doesn't
- 6:21want anybody to feel like that.
- 6:23Like they're not being heard and feels
- 6:26like it and have it be on behalf
- 6:27of him.
- 6:29Right.
- 6:29That's, that's not his deal whatsoever.
- 6:31So yeah, no, the,
- 6:32the parts of it I got to listen
- 6:33to, uh, which is probably about the first.
- 6:37Forty-five minutes or so that that's how
- 6:38it was coming off of me as well.
- 6:41seemed cathartic.
- 6:42It also seemed like there,
- 6:43it gave him some self-reflection to look
- 6:45at how he was coasting.
- 6:48Is that how we put it?
- 6:50And that it was, he shouldn't have been,
- 6:52he should have been like recruiting and
- 6:55trying to keep things fresh and stuff all
- 6:57along.
- 6:58And this just forced him to get back
- 7:01into that.
- 7:02Let's get some new talent.
- 7:04Let's.
- 7:06So yeah, it was,
- 7:07it was a great interview too.
- 7:08I really enjoyed both.
- 7:11they're just killing it over there.
- 7:15And then Joseph is doing semis live on
- 7:17the channel as well.
- 7:21Joseph, at this point,
- 7:22you might get an invitation to Legends,
- 7:25so keep an eye on your email.
- 7:28Yeah, if you have not seen this already,
- 7:36the Barbell Spin put this out.
- 7:37Sixteen days until Legends kicks off.
- 7:41And there are three hundred and five
- 7:42roster spots yet to be filled.
- 7:48What is crazy is.
- 7:51The elite men's field like we've been
- 7:54bitching about the Masters invites all
- 7:58week.
- 7:59The elite men's field only has six
- 8:01registered athletes.
- 8:04Three go to the games.
- 8:08Now,
- 8:09it's like Dallin and James and Tudor and
- 8:12Roman.
- 8:13Like,
- 8:13it's still going to be tough to get
- 8:15one of the three.
- 8:16But you got a fifty-fifty shot.
- 8:23So, just crazy, man.
- 8:30Crazy.
- 8:31There are four age groups that have one
- 8:34registered athlete.
- 8:37Jesus.
- 8:44So I made a comment.
- 8:46So if you didn't catch it yesterday,
- 8:49my little mini riff got clipped by Jenny,
- 8:53put out on Dense Updates.
- 8:55And then Megan Apostolaris made a comment.
- 8:58I commented back.
- 9:00And her argument was that quarterfinals
- 9:02aren't finished.
- 9:05I can get behind that a little bit
- 9:08on the elite athlete level.
- 9:10Right.
- 9:11But I know damn well nobody at CrossFit
- 9:15is asking for a video from a Masters
- 9:17athlete.
- 9:20And so just say the Masters are done
- 9:24and that the Masters are final and give
- 9:28these two entities the list of people to
- 9:32start...
- 9:34Now, elites,
- 9:35maybe they are going to dive into some
- 9:37videos.
- 9:37I've heard that they've asked for some
- 9:39from elite athletes,
- 9:41but I haven't heard a single Masters
- 9:43athlete get a request for a video.
- 9:46Nobody I know has,
- 9:47and I'm in several different tech groups
- 9:49at this point with pretty high-level
- 9:50Masters athletes,
- 9:51and nobody I know has asked for any.
- 9:57Tristan in the house,
- 9:59why would someone go?
- 10:00You have to go beat three out of
- 10:01six multiple time games vets with no one
- 10:05in the field to middle.
- 10:09I get that argument, Tristan.
- 10:12Yeah, I understand that argument.
- 10:15But at the same time,
- 10:18why wouldn't you go?
- 10:21it's valuable on the field experience
- 10:22versus games athletes that you're trying
- 10:24to be one of.
- 10:26So yeah, I get as expensive.
- 10:28Believe me.
- 10:29I just, we just,
- 10:30even Birmingham is not cheap,
- 10:32believe it or not.
- 10:33We just booked our Airbnb last night.
- 10:36Um, so I understand that, but like,
- 10:40I gotta, I gotta be,
- 10:41I gotta be top two to be able
- 10:42to get it to, to,
- 10:43to punch a ticket.
- 10:44And I'm still going because I want the,
- 10:46I want the, I want the on,
- 10:49I want the experience.
- 10:50I want to go against as high-level people
- 10:52as I possibly can every single time.
- 10:55Here's my argument back to him as well,
- 10:57is if you're an elite athlete and you
- 11:00want to be an elite athlete,
- 11:01you have to go up against elite
- 11:02competition.
- 11:03Correct.
- 11:05To go there,
- 11:06I can see that for maybe if you're
- 11:08six, seven, and eight in the field.
- 11:11But if you're thirteen, sixteen,
- 11:13twenty-two,
- 11:14and you get an opportunity to go up
- 11:16against the best and see where you stand,
- 11:18damn well you should be getting there.
- 11:22These opportunities don't come around
- 11:24every day anymore.
- 11:25All the off-season shit is by invite.
- 11:35Yeah.
- 11:36Like, if I'm Colton, like, yeah,
- 11:40you want to pick your shots, right?
- 11:42Because you don't want to go to every
- 11:43single big event, right?
- 11:48Colton's probably a bad example when it
- 11:49comes to that because he would go to
- 11:51every single event.
- 11:57True.
- 11:57Scott, it becomes games, athlete,
- 11:58fantasy camp.
- 12:00Yes.
- 12:01Sure.
- 12:01What's wrong with that?
- 12:03What is one element you need to be
- 12:05a great athlete?
- 12:06Competition experience.
- 12:08High-level competition experience.
- 12:11Corey has been telling you guys for a
- 12:14year that his goal was to get to
- 12:16an in-person semi,
- 12:18to go up against the best,
- 12:19to have that in-person experience,
- 12:24to make him a better athlete.
- 12:28I don't get that from going to my
- 12:30local cops around here.
- 12:33I just don't.
- 12:33David Johnson lives nowhere near me.
- 12:36Not often I get a chance to take
- 12:37the floor against him.
- 12:41I mean, period.
- 12:42This is what Carolyn nails it.
- 12:44This is exactly what I'm saying.
- 12:45If you're an elite athlete and you're
- 12:47close to qualifying,
- 12:48you'll be picky on which one.
- 12:49If you know you aren't qualifying,
- 12:51pick a semifinal to have the experience
- 12:54and say you competed against the elite
- 12:56athletes.
- 12:57And you'll be better for it in years
- 12:59to come.
- 13:00Yep.
- 13:02Well said, Carolyn.
- 13:04To be the best,
- 13:05you have to beat the best.
- 13:07Or at least run with them.
- 13:09Look at that picture of Larry.
- 13:10Damn.
- 13:12That's a sexy man right there.
- 13:14That's a whole lot of dude.
- 13:21Maybe just doing stuff's expensive now and
- 13:23people ain't got the cash.
- 13:27It's always been expensive.
- 13:29when you get into this sport, you know,
- 13:31things are expensive.
- 13:33If you want to be an elite athlete
- 13:35at some point in your career, you know,
- 13:38you're going to have to pay some money.
- 13:42We're not talking about,
- 13:44we're not talking about Jimmy Smith over
- 13:46here at CrossFit Polaris,
- 13:48who comes in at the six AM class.
- 13:50We're talking about people who have
- 13:52registered for these things,
- 13:53done the quarterfinals and done very well
- 13:57to get to the,
- 13:59and try to get to a place where
- 14:01they are an elite athlete and yes three
- 14:07and five spots is a whole lot when
- 14:10you look at the entire entirety of the
- 14:11competition right it's not just elites
- 14:13it's all the masters divisions that are
- 14:15going as well that they are looking to
- 14:18invite
- 14:20Whoever's running their social media
- 14:22responded to Spin's thing and said,
- 14:25we appreciate the fact that everybody's
- 14:26worried about it.
- 14:27But as soon as we get our stuff
- 14:28out,
- 14:29we're sending out the rest of the invites,
- 14:31whatever that ends up look like,
- 14:33assuring people that they will, in fact,
- 14:35get filled up.
- 14:38I don't have any reason not to believe
- 14:39that.
- 14:41Even though it's on short notice, right?
- 14:44Well, as soon as, uh,
- 14:46the scores were alive and I saw what
- 14:47my quarterfinal score was,
- 14:48I started looking at places to stay in
- 14:51Birmingham,
- 14:52even though I didn't have an invite simply
- 14:54because I thought I might be able to
- 14:55get an invite.
- 14:58So it's not that hard to book a
- 15:02place and then, oh wait,
- 15:03I'm not actually going and then unbook a
- 15:05place.
- 15:07Always expensive is different than now.
- 15:09Can't just hop on a thirty nine dollar
- 15:10want to get away flight anymore.
- 15:13That was not a scam anyway.
- 15:14There's only like two thirty nine dollar
- 15:15seats on the whole plane.
- 15:18I get an email from Southwest about at
- 15:22least once or twice a day.
- 15:23Sometimes ask me if I want to get
- 15:25away for forty dollars and I'm like,
- 15:26I just can't see myself getting on a
- 15:28plane for a forty dollar ticket.
- 15:30Where are you going to take me from
- 15:31New Orleans to Baton Rouge?
- 15:33Like that doesn't seem like it's going to
- 15:34get you real far.
- 15:38How do you feel about the age groups
- 15:39with just one in their division competing
- 15:41and getting a spot?
- 15:42Well,
- 15:42hopefully that changes over the next.
- 15:45Sixteen days.
- 15:47Right.
- 15:47But if that happens, that is absurd.
- 15:51And what that truly will mean,
- 15:53Shanna is age groups.
- 15:55Won't get an in-person semi anymore.
- 15:57Correct.
- 16:00Which would be.
- 16:02Sad.
- 16:03And in my opinion, a travesty.
- 16:07I have been the biggest supporter of the
- 16:09age group divisions.
- 16:13And I want all of this for them.
- 16:18But you have to take advantage of it
- 16:20when the opportunity comes or those
- 16:21opportunities will go away.
- 16:24Yep.
- 16:27These comps are expensive, though.
- 16:28They used to be two hundred ish and
- 16:30the games was two fifty.
- 16:31Now the semis are all four hundred plus
- 16:33and coaches don't even have a free pass
- 16:35to enter.
- 16:36That is insane.
- 16:37completely ridiculous silly absolutely
- 16:39silly it does get expensive though and
- 16:44we've talked about this in the past this
- 16:45is another one of my many rants that
- 16:47i've gone off on it's we own they're
- 16:51only looking at one avenue for revenue
- 16:54and that is people signing up to do
- 16:56their event.
- 16:57Instead of trying to get as many people
- 16:58in the building and use alternative
- 17:00sources of revenue,
- 17:02like if you can guarantee people,
- 17:05thousands of people in your venue,
- 17:08you'll get more booths and vendors to pay
- 17:11for that.
- 17:12They'll be more successful,
- 17:14and then that will create a churn where
- 17:17everybody's making more money.
- 17:19But the...
- 17:24event coordinators with the blinders on
- 17:27only see two paths of revenue.
- 17:29And that is ticket sales where they charge
- 17:33an ungodly amount to come in for the
- 17:34weekend and charging the athletes, uh,
- 17:38to come do their event.
- 17:42I will say that more, uh,
- 17:44majesty games are not expensive,
- 17:46but it didn't seem like it.
- 17:47When I looked at them,
- 17:48I didn't buy them yet.
- 17:49Cause I'm not sure if my wife's actually
- 17:50gonna make it or not.
- 17:51But, um, weekend pass was,
- 17:55Seventy five bucks, maybe.
- 17:57I don't remember.
- 17:58I'd have to go back and look.
- 17:59See, that's not bad.
- 18:00Last year's age group games were like I
- 18:03was a couple hundred dollars.
- 18:07I could be completely wrong with that
- 18:08number before somebody tells me I'm an
- 18:09idiot.
- 18:12I looked at it briefly whenever I signed
- 18:13my stuff up and I just didn't buy
- 18:15any because I don't know.
- 18:16I don't actually know if she's gonna be
- 18:17able to make it or not.
- 18:19Alita says, in fairness,
- 18:20the French showdown was only two hundred
- 18:21pounds for three days.
- 18:28this started happening in bodybuilding and
- 18:30Olympic lifting.
- 18:31And then the,
- 18:32those events wouldn't actually be
- 18:33qualified to send someone further need a
- 18:36minimum number in the field.
- 18:41Is masters having an in-person qualifier,
- 18:44a folly at this point,
- 18:45spectator field for masters is like the
- 18:47crowd at the D two baseball championship,
- 18:50friends and family.
- 18:52I will tell you cross fat at the
- 18:54age group games last year,
- 18:56I thought there were more people watching
- 18:58that than were at elite semis.
- 19:04And the price was ungodly expensive.
- 19:08Yeah.
- 19:11But then again,
- 19:11the Masters have a lot more friends and
- 19:13family.
- 19:14Two of my best friends and his wife
- 19:17are coming.
- 19:17We're staying at the same Airbnb place.
- 19:21If my wife's feeling up to it because
- 19:24she's having surgery the week before she's
- 19:25coming, or my son,
- 19:27I'm going to have at least,
- 19:29at the very minimum,
- 19:30a two-person tear injection,
- 19:32probably more than that.
- 19:33And then one of my good friends lives
- 19:34in Birmingham.
- 19:36He's a cop up there,
- 19:37so I assume he's probably going to be
- 19:38there.
- 19:39So, like, I mean, I hope so.
- 19:44Everyone says Toledo,
- 19:46and that's why Europeans sell out better
- 19:49their venues than North America.
- 19:53yeah um so that's happening we also have
- 20:04mayhem released their number one workout
- 20:08this is the second release but it's a
- 20:10workout one did i say that right wrong
- 20:13no i think that's right second one day
- 20:15release but actual workout one that's
- 20:17right i said it the more the most
- 20:18complicated way i could yeah i mean
- 20:23Here it is.
- 20:25It's a five K run, but,
- 20:26and it seems little,
- 20:30but there's redacted information below the
- 20:33five K run, including the location.
- 20:40I love this.
- 20:42I can't say that enough.
- 20:45Is it by five K do they mean
- 20:47five kilometers or five thousand feet of
- 20:50running?
- 20:51Because that's been a thing in the past.
- 20:55I don't know.
- 20:57I we talk about all the like that
- 21:00CrossFit released all the quarterfinal
- 21:02workouts a week early,
- 21:03but you couldn't do them until the
- 21:04Thursday.
- 21:05Oh, yeah.
- 21:06Yeah, I'm sure.
- 21:07I'm sure everybody just stuck right to
- 21:09that.
- 21:11Here we have an event releasing a workout
- 21:15a week and a half early,
- 21:17but they only gave you a taste.
- 21:21So you know you're going to run.
- 21:25You know you're going to run,
- 21:26but you don't know all the details.
- 21:29I like how it's two lines redacted
- 21:32underneath five K like.
- 21:36Maybe one of them is a decoy,
- 21:37like a red herring.
- 21:39We put two lines underneath there.
- 21:41It's really going to make people think
- 21:42that there's some extra stuff in there.
- 21:48Isn't that what makes all this fun?
- 21:50Yeah, no, a hundred percent.
- 21:51I like it.
- 21:52Everybody's going to speculate for the
- 21:54next week and a half on what's underneath
- 21:58those three lines.
- 21:59I love it.
- 22:03Location.
- 22:04Let's be honest.
- 22:07It's a simple move that CrossFit could
- 22:09have taken advantage of during
- 22:10quarterfinals.
- 22:11Redacted one line or two lines from every
- 22:14workout.
- 22:17You kind of know what you got to
- 22:18get into affiliates.
- 22:19You know,
- 22:19you got to use these pieces of equipment,
- 22:22but.
- 22:24Well, in years past,
- 22:25they would give us just the floor layout.
- 22:29I remember that specifically.
- 22:31Hey,
- 22:32here's the floor layouts for all these
- 22:33workouts.
- 22:33We'll give you the rep schemes and weights
- 22:35and all that stuff times later on this
- 22:38week.
- 22:38But here's what you can expect to have
- 22:40to set up at the very least.
- 22:43Henshaw did the measuring and he did it
- 22:46four times.
- 22:50I measured it four times and it was
- 22:52wrong all four times.
- 22:54Just wanted to let y'all know that.
- 22:58Um,
- 23:00the second line says brought to you by
- 23:01mayhem hunt.
- 23:04See, I think that would be awesome though.
- 23:06Yeah, that would be awesome.
- 23:10Uh, it would be nice if,
- 23:13if events would stop releasing workouts
- 23:14early enough for people to do them
- 23:16multiple times.
- 23:17I like this.
- 23:19I don't just like this, David Johnson.
- 23:21I love this.
- 23:21Yeah, I agree.
- 23:25I absolutely agree.
- 23:30I hope those laser guns aren't involved.
- 23:32I hope they are involved.
- 23:34Let's bring that back.
- 23:36Accuracy.
- 23:37Pew, pew, pew.
- 23:43I can't run through the woods.
- 23:44Josh Bridges is involved with that now,
- 23:45and him and Rich have beef.
- 23:48Or they used to have beef.
- 23:49I don't know.
- 23:51They used to be friends.
- 23:52Now they're not friends, maybe.
- 23:54I don't know.
- 23:58Yeah, that is a thing.
- 24:08Man you guys are chatting so fast Magic
- 24:11City is releasing their workouts Eight
- 24:12days before the comp But they could do
- 24:13this trick They could do this trick with
- 24:16those workouts Eight days is a long time
- 24:21It is Um
- 24:27A five K and bow targets like biathlon
- 24:30Olympics.
- 24:31That would be awesome.
- 24:36And you only get so much time at
- 24:37each station.
- 24:37So like when you get to the,
- 24:39when you get to where you got to
- 24:39pull it, you got to shoot the bow.
- 24:41Good luck.
- 24:42You got thirty seconds to get a shot
- 24:43off and then you got to,
- 24:44you got to keep moving.
- 24:46I thought they used to have coffee.
- 24:48They did,
- 24:49but they couldn't agree on how to split
- 24:50the beans.
- 24:52As it turns out.
- 24:56Bison chip toss after each kilometer.
- 25:02No, actually,
- 25:03there's going to be a GHD machine.
- 25:05You have to hold a bison chip in
- 25:07each hand.
- 25:08On the tenth and twentieth rep,
- 25:10you got to chuck one.
- 25:11At a target.
- 25:14This is the stuff that's fun when you
- 25:16do this.
- 25:17Now we have fun conversations about what
- 25:20it could possibly be.
- 25:23I mean,
- 25:23if they want to come to us for
- 25:24programming advice,
- 25:25I think we got some pretty good stuff
- 25:27right here.
- 25:28Just throwing that out there.
- 25:31Now I get it, CrossFit.
- 25:32You said beef, but it was coffee.
- 25:34They have coffee between each other.
- 25:36Yeah.
- 25:39I hate early releases.
- 25:40The only argument for them is people can
- 25:41ask their stupid questions beforehand and
- 25:43not at the briefing.
- 25:45Oh, wait,
- 25:45they still ask them at the briefing.
- 25:47I don't think any truer words have ever
- 25:49been said.
- 25:50if you have never experienced an online
- 25:54briefing before actually before legends or
- 25:58before masters fitness collective and just
- 26:00sitting there and listen to some of the
- 26:02ridiculous stuff that comes out of
- 26:04people's mouths i highly recommend it holy
- 26:10smokes
- 26:11Everybody's sitting there and they just
- 26:12kind of going through stuff and whatnot.
- 26:14And then any questions,
- 26:16anytime somebody says any questions,
- 26:18I just kind of sit back.
- 26:19Cause I know like some nonsense is fixing
- 26:21to come out.
- 26:27NorCal will release only the day prior.
- 26:30They have always done that.
- 26:31Wonder if they would go earlier now so
- 26:33that the briefing is better and standard.
- 26:35But I think they will keep their
- 26:36traditions.
- 26:38Yeah,
- 26:39I just think they need to be more
- 26:40clear during that briefing.
- 26:42Yeah,
- 26:42I don't think Blair and them are changing
- 26:45much when it comes to that kind of
- 26:48stuff.
- 26:48They do what they do,
- 26:50and people look at them sideways,
- 26:52and they go, yep,
- 26:53this is what we're doing.
- 26:54We are still doing that.
- 26:56And good on them.
- 26:57Like, stick to your guns, man.
- 26:59Like,
- 27:01people are still going to your events.
- 27:03People are still participating in your
- 27:04events,
- 27:05despite the ridiculous amount of stuff
- 27:07that y'all do sometimes.
- 27:08So I have much respect for that.
- 27:19Carolyn says,
- 27:19but sometimes the questions is to
- 27:21literally make sure everyone knows it's
- 27:23not allowed.
- 27:24A lot of times people ask the questions
- 27:27they know the answer to,
- 27:28but want to make sure it's addressed.
- 27:30I understand that, Carolyn,
- 27:32but somebody legitimately asked out loud
- 27:35last year,
- 27:36what if my judge is mean to me
- 27:40and was not laughing when they said it?
- 27:45They weren't like, well,
- 27:46what if my geo just mean to me?
- 27:49No, no, that was a legitimate question.
- 27:53I was texting back and forth with a
- 27:55friend of mine while we were in it.
- 27:56And I was like,
- 27:57what is happening right now?
- 27:59I says, I have a question.
- 28:01Do I have to run the entire five
- 28:02K?
- 28:03Yeah, exactly.
- 28:08Vicky says people are soft.
- 28:11Joe said, uh,
- 28:13never had that happen before with my like
- 28:15he was stunned by the asking of it
- 28:19he just kind of went up never had
- 28:21that happen before but if it does let
- 28:23me know when i'll address it and like
- 28:26he said just it like it was a
- 28:27question because but somebody legitimately
- 28:30actually like that's that's a thing that
- 28:32happened when i was a judge we were
- 28:36told that we were not to interact with
- 28:38the athlete unless they came up to you
- 28:41if they had questions to call over the
- 28:43head judge because they wanted to keep it
- 28:47very systematic and um but that was when
- 28:50crossfit was running it all right right um
- 28:59can i bring wheelie shoes for the i
- 29:04hope you do carolyn and i cannot wait
- 29:06to see the video please do
- 29:11Please do, Carolyn.
- 29:12I got a feeling she would be super
- 29:14fast on them.
- 29:14Like, she knows how to skate.
- 29:15Hell, her on rollerblades, man,
- 29:19dominates the five K. Wouldn't even, yeah,
- 29:21wouldn't even be close.
- 29:22Through the woods.
- 29:23Like,
- 29:23I have no problem believing that
- 29:24whatsoever.
- 29:29Biggest annoyance is when judges have
- 29:31conversations with athletes before the
- 29:33heat starts.
- 29:35Yep.
- 29:40I'd love for you to have Dave Hardy
- 29:42on one day and let him tell stories.
- 29:43But I bet he's got some good ones.
- 29:46I've judged with Dave.
- 29:47I've known Dave a long time.
- 29:49Dave is a great human being.
- 29:52He is outstanding as a person.
- 29:55And yes,
- 29:56I am willing to bet he has some
- 29:57ridiculous stories.
- 29:59The funniest thing about Dave Hardy is
- 30:01that he and I must have the exact
- 30:03same palate.
- 30:04Because whenever I'm at an event,
- 30:06I run into him at every restaurant I
- 30:08go to.
- 30:12We were, uh, my first year at legends,
- 30:15we were leaving the venue and we literally
- 30:16picked him up off the street.
- 30:19He was walking back to his hotel and
- 30:21we rolled up and, uh,
- 30:23Robbie rolled down the window and was
- 30:24like, Hey man, you need a ride?
- 30:26And he was like, hell yes,
- 30:27I need a ride.
- 30:27I didn't.
- 30:29And it was two blocks,
- 30:30but he just got in and we shot
- 30:32the shit with him for a little bit
- 30:33and dropped him off in front of his
- 30:34place.
- 30:38Um, is it Dave Hardy or Chris Henshaw?
- 30:41Exactly.
- 30:42I've never seen them both in the same
- 30:43place at the same time.
- 30:46I have a picture with Chris Henshaw and
- 30:48I could tell people it was Dave Hardy
- 30:50and they probably wouldn't know the
- 30:51difference.
- 30:53I'm just saying,
- 30:54I've seen both of them in person.
- 30:56I've never seen them both at the same
- 30:58time.
- 30:59No.
- 31:02To be fair,
- 31:03if you talk to Dave Harder,
- 31:04he does not tell you about zone two
- 31:06and, uh,
- 31:08deal two max and all that kind of
- 31:10stuff.
- 31:10He's that's not really his bag.
- 31:12Yeah.
- 31:13But he's a hell of an athlete.
- 31:15Uh,
- 31:17CrossFit games athlete now high rocks
- 31:20champion.
- 31:21Yeah.
- 31:23Was he judging at,
- 31:24at fitness of the coast with his cane
- 31:26after his surgery, which was fantastic.
- 31:29Artificial parts everywhere.
- 31:31And the guy he's much older than he
- 31:33looks.
- 31:35Yeah.
- 31:35Like he looks years younger than he is,
- 31:40uh, which is insane.
- 31:42So.
- 31:45What else do we got?
- 31:46I saw some comments about Xenon.
- 31:50If you didn't see the post from Wilson
- 31:53Pak and the Xenon crew talking about what
- 31:58they want the event to be,
- 31:59I shared it to my story today.
- 32:02It's really, really awesome.
- 32:05I saw it,
- 32:06but I actually listened to it.
- 32:08Yeah,
- 32:08so they just talk about how they want
- 32:11it to be a world-class event.
- 32:12They want you to walk through the doors
- 32:14and feel like it's a world-class event.
- 32:18He quotes how much poundage of steel is
- 32:22going to be put inside the arena.
- 32:26All the stuff,
- 32:27like the nerdy stuff that gets
- 32:29CrossFitters.
- 32:30excited but it was actually addressed to
- 32:34crossfit crossfitters people who do
- 32:38crossfit do crossfit yeah the strongest
- 32:43nerds i know are the people i work
- 32:45out with uh dave uses the wheelie measure
- 32:50stick from harbor freight
- 32:57Oh, that's because CrossFit said,
- 32:58could Dave count five thousand meters?
- 32:59Yeah, he can.
- 33:02It's just that his wheelie pops wheels
- 33:04wheelies and it misses or it spins extra
- 33:08off the off the ramp.
- 33:15Talked about legends,
- 33:16talked about the last thing I wanted to
- 33:19talk about.
- 33:19Well,
- 33:19I have two more things is if you
- 33:22guys didn't see this video.
- 33:25Well worth the watch.
- 33:27This is on Justin Medeiros' channel.
- 33:32It is The Relish Project.
- 33:34And he talked about it briefly on Boys
- 33:36Interrupted back when they were going to
- 33:37do it.
- 33:38This was on his way to do Guadalupalooza,
- 33:41SoCal.
- 33:44Apparently back in college...
- 33:46Justin had a couple of friends that worked
- 33:48out at the same place he did.
- 33:50And they went on this journey with no
- 33:53plan,
- 33:53just all jumped into like a cargo van
- 33:57and went from town to town,
- 34:00sleeping in tents and going into different
- 34:04CrossFit boxes and working out with the
- 34:06community and getting to know the
- 34:08community.
- 34:09Justin was always jealous about that ever
- 34:11since they had done that.
- 34:13And so they decided to do it on
- 34:15his drive from Idaho to Waterpalooza,
- 34:20SoCal.
- 34:22No plan,
- 34:22just stop at various boxes on the way.
- 34:25They slept in tents,
- 34:26they slept in the vans,
- 34:29and they brought a bunch of stuff from
- 34:32all of their sponsors or Justin's
- 34:36sponsors.
- 34:39And he got the old gang back together,
- 34:41who some of them have not been working
- 34:43out as much as they did when they
- 34:45did this initial plan.
- 34:48And I'm just going to play a little
- 34:50bit of the start because they explain what
- 34:52the Relish Project is.
- 34:55What is the Relish Project?
- 34:56I don't think it's ever been fully
- 34:58defined.
- 34:59And that's the point.
- 35:00The Relish Project was never meant to fit
- 35:02in a box.
- 35:03It was meant to evolve.
- 35:04That uncertainty, that curiosity,
- 35:07it's part of the journey.
- 35:08Ten years ago,
- 35:09three friends sent out to tell the story
- 35:11of the CrossFit community.
- 35:12And today, that story continues.
- 35:14The larger group, broader perspectives,
- 35:17and even greater stories still waiting to
- 35:18be told.
- 35:19This is The Relish Project.
- 35:24So it's really cool because it's really
- 35:27like grassroots CrossFit.
- 35:29It's just dropping into box after box,
- 35:31sticking around,
- 35:32hanging out with the community,
- 35:34handing out free shoes, free shirts,
- 35:36free shorts from Justin's sponsors.
- 35:40And they tell a story at the one
- 35:42box where they hung out with the community
- 35:44for two hours after the workout.
- 35:46Damn.
- 35:47And how...
- 35:51They don't think typically that happens at
- 35:53the box that they hang out that long.
- 35:55He does think they hang out for a
- 35:57little bit of time after the workout.
- 35:59But two hours was a lot.
- 36:01But they hung out and ate and drank
- 36:04and did all the stuff with the community.
- 36:06And it's just like box after box after
- 36:08box having those experiences.
- 36:11It's only like a thirty minute video,
- 36:15but it's really a great idea and I
- 36:18hope that this is something that expands
- 36:23and blows up and more people take it
- 36:24on in the name of The Relish Project.
- 36:30When I first got into CrossFit,
- 36:31like if we had one of my friends
- 36:34that would get married,
- 36:36our bachelor party was on a Saturday,
- 36:39we would drop into like three boxes.
- 36:41Oh, I like that.
- 36:42Bang, bang.
- 36:44And do a workout at each one and
- 36:45then come back to the home gym,
- 36:48do like a max out and then grill
- 36:51and drink beer and do whatever for the
- 36:54rest of the day.
- 36:55And then like the wives and everybody
- 36:57would come hang out with us for the
- 37:00evening.
- 37:01but that's how we would celebrate bachelor
- 37:03parties.
- 37:04And it reminded me so much of that
- 37:06and the,
- 37:06and the grassroots piece of that and
- 37:08getting together with my best friends and
- 37:12hanging out for the day.
- 37:14I like it.
- 37:15And this is just,
- 37:16just puts it under a road trip, right?
- 37:19Let's just hop in the van and go.
- 37:22I have been wanting to do something alone.
- 37:24It was like,
- 37:24like every time we go somewhere, uh,
- 37:28And it's more prevalent now, but like,
- 37:29I am looking for where I'm going to
- 37:31go work out.
- 37:34That's, that's not,
- 37:35that's a non-negotiable, right?
- 37:38Even on a cruise ship, I'm like,
- 37:39all right, well,
- 37:40I guess I'm about to go tear up
- 37:42this fitness center on the cruise ship.
- 37:43Then people will see some stuff they ain't
- 37:44never seen before.
- 37:48But I love it.
- 37:49I love dropping into new places.
- 37:50I love being in there and just talking
- 37:52to the people that's there, dude.
- 37:53Like I've met people in several different
- 37:56locations who are
- 37:59invariably good human beings i'm rarely
- 38:02dropped in somewhere where i was like this
- 38:04place sucks matter of fact i can't think
- 38:07of any um that amongst my dropping where
- 38:11i was like yeah this this place or
- 38:13these people suck it hadn't happened i
- 38:18think it's just the the nature of what
- 38:20we do i i've probably done fifty drop-ins
- 38:26in my life
- 38:29I've only had one bad experience.
- 38:32That's pretty good.
- 38:34That's pretty good.
- 38:35I'll take those odds.
- 38:38Um, and,
- 38:41and more than just this being a good
- 38:42watch, which I think it is,
- 38:44and I highly recommend it.
- 38:45I think it's a,
- 38:47a cool concept that others can take on
- 38:50and, and do with their buddies.
- 38:53And I think it would be a blast.
- 38:55Um,
- 38:57yeah so if you haven't checked it out
- 38:59check it out and if if you ever
- 39:01decide to do something like this let us
- 39:03know man it'd be cool like down the
- 39:08road a little bit if like we did
- 39:10like a Clydesdale version of this and
- 39:12whatever listeners wanted to join us we
- 39:15would just bang bang bang go that's
- 39:16fantastic
- 39:21Uh, Larry young, same.
- 39:22I look at the gym before I book,
- 39:24even though I don't work out hard,
- 39:26like you, Corey,
- 39:27I still try to do something.
- 39:28Larry, you work out.
- 39:29I read Larry young's comments and I want,
- 39:31like,
- 39:31I'm about to pull an eye muscle from
- 39:33rolling my eyes when he says shit like,
- 39:35oh, don't work hard, hard, hard.
- 39:36Like you shut up, Larry.
- 39:40Stop.
- 39:41Everything is relative.
- 39:43Everything is relative.
- 39:44Sweet Jesus.
- 39:47Speaking of working out hard and Larry,
- 39:50we announced yesterday that we're doing
- 39:53for Rob Orlando max out deadlift this
- 39:55week.
- 39:57And if you do a max out deadlift
- 40:01for Rob Orlando, video it,
- 40:04tag us in it on Instagram at Clydesdale
- 40:07underscore media.com.
- 40:09I will share it to the stories and
- 40:11it'll all be for Rob Orlando this week.
- 40:14I think I'm going to do mine this
- 40:16afternoon after my last meeting.
- 40:21And I'm hoping to get over three.
- 40:27I don't know.
- 40:28I may be setting my expectations way too
- 40:30high, but I'm going to try.
- 40:33I've never been an actor, so we'll see.
- 40:37It's worth doing.
- 40:40Yeah.
- 40:40I mean, playing is worth doing.
- 40:43I watched that little tribute that
- 40:46CrossFit put together for him again this
- 40:47morning.
- 40:48And, I mean,
- 40:50you just can't not like the guy.
- 40:53Yeah.
- 40:54He was so charismatic.
- 40:56And he just was a good dude.
- 41:00Larry says, I'll win that one.
- 41:02There you go.
- 41:03We're giving you your shot, Larry.
- 41:05We're giving you your shot.
- 41:08Max out deadlift.
- 41:09Do it for Rob Orlando.
- 41:12Robbo.
- 41:13Carolyn says, nice to see CrossFit.
- 41:14We'll interview Lauren Weeks from High
- 41:16Rocks.
- 41:17She's been doing CrossFit for so long.
- 41:22Yeah.
- 41:23CrossFit needs to dive into some of these
- 41:27other things and be the example.
- 41:32Get out of its own way?
- 41:33Is that what you're trying to say?
- 41:36Yeah.
- 41:40um hybrid folks rob some royalties
- 41:53speaking of royalties i'm going to leave
- 41:54on this note i was watching this clip
- 41:58today if you remember jacques jacques jack
- 42:01a jack from two two are you talking
- 42:03about the whenever she was talking about
- 42:06uh
- 42:08Dolly Parton.
- 42:09Yeah.
- 42:12That makes more sense.
- 42:15She asked Dolly Parton if she was upset
- 42:19that Whitney Houston recorded her song.
- 42:22And Dolly Parton was like,
- 42:26let me show you something.
- 42:27It's taken back to her dressing room and
- 42:29she pulls up the drawer in her desk.
- 42:32She pulls out a piece of paper and
- 42:35she hands it to her and goes,
- 42:37this is my first royalty check from that,
- 42:40that song.
- 42:42And it was a million dollars.
- 42:45And Dolly looked at her and goes,
- 42:46I ain't angry.
- 42:48Yeah, I ain't mad at her.
- 42:52I am not mad at her.
- 42:54And that was just the first one.
- 42:57Yeah, that was the initial one.
- 42:59I mean,
- 43:05Dolly Parton is a solid human being all
- 43:08the way through.
- 43:10CrossFed clarified what he was trying to
- 43:15say.
- 43:16They owe Rob.
- 43:17They owe Rob royalties.
- 43:20Yeah.
- 43:20The hybrid people, the, the big sky thing,
- 43:23whenever they just went and just Rob a,
- 43:26and they just hollered at him from the
- 43:27crowd.
- 43:28And he was like, come on, you up.
- 43:30And he was like, seriously,
- 43:33wiping off the cheesecake.
- 43:34Yes.
- 43:35What were you doing?
- 43:36I was eating cheesecake.
- 43:41Yeah.
- 43:41Good time.
- 43:43So he was just, um,
- 43:46I will video my attempt this afternoon.
- 43:48I will post it.
- 43:50And then hopefully that gets the ball
- 43:53rolling for everybody else.
- 43:55And we'll see what we do.
- 43:59Scott, are we past the major trade talks?
- 44:01Will he be a bear in twenty twenty
- 44:02six?
- 44:04I'll let you know after the draft, Wayne.
- 44:11Well,
- 44:12there's no real talk about it right now.
- 44:14But if a trade happens,
- 44:15it happens at the draft.
- 44:17In most cases.
- 44:20Because you're usually trading for draft
- 44:22capital.
- 44:24And that's when most people...
- 44:27That's when the Bears would get the most
- 44:28compensation for him.
- 44:36But I don't foresee it.
- 44:40I think they were only going to trade
- 44:42him if they got a really good deal.
- 44:46Here's the thing, dude.
- 44:48They paid him a truckload of money.
- 44:54It would be wild for them to, again,
- 44:56that was what, two years ago?
- 44:59Well, that just kicks in now.
- 45:02That one he signed just kicks in now.
- 45:07And it's only ten million guaranteed,
- 45:09and I say only.
- 45:11But it could be up to eighteen million.
- 45:13However, they are right at the cap.
- 45:18They have no money to sign draft picks.
- 45:20So they're either going to have to
- 45:21restructure some deals,
- 45:23or they're going to have to get rid
- 45:24of a high-priced person to get under the
- 45:27cap for the season.
- 45:30That's the only reservation I have to
- 45:32say...
- 45:34Yeah,
- 45:35that's a good eye on watching the draft
- 45:38at that point,
- 45:39if that would be the case.
- 45:41That would make sense, yeah.
- 45:44Hard pass.
- 45:47Gino Smith's still playing.
- 45:49He just got traded to the Jets.
- 45:54Where it all began for him.
- 45:57Yeah, all the way back to the beginning.
- 46:00When it was a disaster.
- 46:02All right, guys.
- 46:05With that,
- 46:07look for the deadlift later today.
- 46:09And we'll see everybody next time on Lunch
- 46:13with the Clydesdale.
- 46:14Bye, guys.
