- 0:14Speaker 2: This is the best of Stugatz and Company live on
- 0:17Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio.
- 0:20Speaker 1: We have Taylor's Tears on a Tuesday. We have Eric
- 0:24Speaker 1: Armstead from the Jacksonville Jaguars, both of those coming up
- 0:27Speaker 1: in hour number two. We will get to the Chiefs
- 0:31Speaker 1: and Broncos here. Taylor has some questions. I have more
- 0:34Speaker 1: questions about the Broncos. I think Taylor has questions about
- 0:37Speaker 1: the Chiefs. And we have if the season ended today.
- 0:42Speaker 1: But we stumbled into a very funny conversation earlier today
- 0:47Speaker 1: about Taylor Swift sitting next to Tom Cruise last night
- 0:50Speaker 1: at the Chiefs game and what were they talking about
- 0:53Speaker 1: and just how random and weird the whole thing is.
- 0:57Speaker 1: And I asked Mikey and Taylor, do you think that
- 1:00Speaker 1: Tom Cruise was talking to Taylor Swift?
- 1:04Speaker 3: About his fantasy team, about his lineup. Is there any chance?
- 1:08Speaker 1: And then we stumbled into a funny conversation of movie
- 1:11Speaker 1: stars and what they would name their fantasy teams. Taylor,
- 1:16Speaker 1: do you have the poll question we put up for
- 1:17Speaker 1: Tom Cruise and the options of what Tom Cruise, if
- 1:21Speaker 1: indeed he was playing fantasy football, if indeed that's what
- 1:26Speaker 1: he was discussing with Taylor Swift last night? uh what
- 1:29Speaker 1: would the name of his team be do you have
- 1:31Speaker 1: the options for the audience.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Here yeah so we had four options top gunners yes
- 1:37Speaker 4: rain man but rain is spelt r-e-i-g-n.
- 1:41Speaker 1: That was mikey's very important yeah.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Yes jerry mcguire's clients and then a few good.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Men okay so i want to throw a few more
- 1:52Speaker 1: out uh go ahead you have more Oh, yeah.
- 1:56Speaker 5: I make all the right moves. I'm winning far and away.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Yes. All right. A few better men. A few better men.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:07Speaker 1: So the question for the audience is this. 877-99 on Fox.
- 2:11Speaker 1: The actor, the actress, and what their fantasy football team
- 2:15Speaker 1: name would be based on the movies that they've been in.
- 2:19Speaker 3: I think that's the way you have to do it.
- 2:20Speaker 5: Right, Mikey?
- 2:21Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:22Speaker 6: Starting CMC, colon, risky business.
- 2:27Speaker 1: But it can't be.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Well, it can be a role, I guess, too, right?
- 2:31Speaker 1: Like, you could base your team name off of a
- 2:32Speaker 1: role that you played in a movie, correct?
- 2:35Speaker 5: If you could do something with Maverick, sure.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Yes. Right. Yes.
- 2:38Speaker 5: But it's got to be like there's only one.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Right. Yes.
- 2:41Speaker 3: And why wouldn't you do something with Maverick?
- 2:44Speaker 1: If you're Maverick.
- 2:45Speaker 4: That's his fantasy basketball team.
- 2:46Speaker 5: You're right.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Yes. The Maverick.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:50Speaker 1: 877-99 on Fox. That is 877-99 on Fox. I didn't
- 2:54Speaker 1: realize there were more questions about the Chiefs, Taylor. The
- 2:57Speaker 1: Chiefs won the football game. My questions are about the
- 3:00Speaker 1: Denver Broncos and just how bad Bo Nix was in
- 3:03Speaker 1: that game last night.
- 3:04Speaker 4: So it's the opposite, actually. I don't have questions about
- 3:07Speaker 4: this Chiefs team because I think what they did yesterday
- 3:10Speaker 4: was a statement game where they kind of announced to
- 3:12Speaker 4: the NFL that they're back. My questions were revolving around
- 3:16Speaker 4: the Chiefs because I'm watching that game. Are the Chiefs
- 3:20Speaker 4: officially the team to beat in the AFC again? Because
- 3:23Speaker 4: there was a window where they weren't, and I think
- 3:25Speaker 4: they've entered back into that window.
- 3:27Speaker 1: It's interesting. That's Mahomes coming off an injury, played okay,
- 3:31Speaker 1: played better in the second half, was more comfortable running
- 3:33Speaker 1: than he was throwing, which is odd considering he hurt
- 3:36Speaker 1: his leg and not his arm. So I don't know.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Are the Chiefs the favorite? Mikey, are you ready to
- 3:42Speaker 1: say that? I mean, they have championship pedigree. They have
- 3:45Speaker 1: probably the greatest quarterback we've ever seen after Tom Brady.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Are they the favorites in a conference with a quarterback
- 3:52Speaker 1: coming off that injury in a conference that has Josh Allen,
- 3:56Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson, and Joe Burrow? I'm not certain if they
- 3:59Speaker 1: are the favorites. I don't know.
- 4:01Speaker 6: Right now, they have shown in week one that they
- 4:06Speaker 6: are who we thought the Texans were. They played with
- 4:09Speaker 6: a really good running game, a really good defense, and
- 4:12Speaker 6: the quarterback made some throws when he had to, but
- 4:14Speaker 6: didn't light up the scoreboard. Before I'm willing to call
- 4:17Speaker 6: the Chiefs the favorite in the AFC, I need to
- 4:20Speaker 6: see a Patrick Mahomes game.
- 4:22Speaker 4: The reason why, Mikey, that's exactly why I think the
- 4:24Speaker 4: Chiefs are the favorite now in the AFC because they
- 4:27Speaker 4: look that dominant and they didn't get the Patrick Mahomes
- 4:30Speaker 4: game where Patrick Mahomes, without question, he's going to have
- 4:32Speaker 4: his moments and his throws where he drops back and
- 4:35Speaker 4: he reminds everybody who he is. And game on the line,
- 4:38Speaker 4: I'm not really sure that there's anybody you'd rather have
- 4:40Speaker 4: leading a drive. And I can't remember the last time
- 4:43Speaker 4: that we watched a Chiefs game where the Chiefs could
- 4:45Speaker 4: win a game like that without Mahomes doing the carrying.
- 4:48Speaker 5: And then, Stu.
- 4:50Speaker 4: I think people are kind of discrediting Eric Biennemi coming
- 4:52Speaker 4: back to this Chiefs offense because Eric Biennemi was in
- 4:55Speaker 4: his bag last night. I don't know if you saw
- 4:57Speaker 4: some of those plays where Patrick Mahomes had his hand
- 4:59Speaker 4: in the dirt.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I did see him. I did notice that he was there.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I did notice Mahomes had his hand in the dirt.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I noticed all of it. They have a great coaching staff.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I can tell you that much. They have the best
- 5:11Speaker 1: quarterback in the game, Mikey, and maybe the best coach
- 5:14Speaker 1: in the game, plus the best assistants in the game.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Maybe the Chiefs are the favorite, and we're just discounting
- 5:20Speaker 1: Kansas City because they didn't make it to the playoffs
- 5:22Speaker 1: a season ago. You know?
- 5:24Speaker 6: I don't disagree that they have the best quarterback in
- 5:27Speaker 6: the game. I'm just not sure he's the best quarterback
- 5:30Speaker 6: in the game right now because I'm not sure he's 100%
- 5:33Speaker 6: healthy or at least 100% back to where he was.
- 5:38Speaker 1: But to Taylor's point with Kenneth Walker, they now have
- 5:41Speaker 1: someone who can kind of get him through the first
- 5:42Speaker 1: couple of games here until Mahomes starts to feel healthier
- 5:45Speaker 1: and more confident, you know?
- 5:47Speaker 4: Kenneth Walker is the perfect formula for extending Patrick Mahomes prime,
- 5:51Speaker 4: where you're not putting all this pressure on Patrick Mahomes,
- 5:54Speaker 4: where the Kenneth Walker. addition to Kansas City it feels
- 5:58Speaker 4: like one that we're going to look back on in
- 6:00Speaker 4: January and wonder how did the rest of the NFL
- 6:03Speaker 4: let him end up in Kansas City and Stu that
- 6:06Speaker 4: hand in the dirt play with with Patrick Mahomes yes
- 6:09Speaker 4: it was Mahomes hand in the dirt Justin Fields was
- 6:12Speaker 4: also in the backfield it counts as a passing touchdown
- 6:15Speaker 4: to Kenneth Walker but it's basically an extended handoff yes
- 6:19Speaker 4: Kenneth Walker said the film they watched on that play
- 6:22Speaker 4: was tough to see because it was from the 1900s.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Is that what he said?
- 6:30Speaker 4: Eric Bien-Aimé is going back to the 1900s to pull
- 6:33Speaker 4: up plays. Everybody else might be playing for second.
- 6:35Speaker 1: That was not a touchdown pass. I don't care what
- 6:38Speaker 1: it goes down as. That was not a touchdown pass.
- 6:40Speaker 1: It was a toss to Kenneth Walker, a forward toss
- 6:44Speaker 1: to Kenneth Walker.
- 6:45Speaker 7: Dan, was that a touchdown pass?
- 6:46Speaker 5: Here comes Patrick Mahomes.
- 6:49Speaker 8: Walker said that the the video is so bad they
- 6:52Speaker 8: could barely see the score bug that gave the decatur
- 6:54Speaker 8: canton game in the corner that's how old it was
- 6:57Speaker 8: they couldn't even figure out the font on the screen
- 7:00Speaker 8: um just for your reference bills right now about a
- 7:03Speaker 8: five to one favorite the uh ravens uh a slight
- 7:08Speaker 8: slightly behind them at uh 11 to 2 and then
- 7:11Speaker 8: you have kansas city right now at about 6 to
- 7:13Speaker 8: 1 to come out of the afc.
- 7:14Speaker 5: Smells like value.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Yes, it does.
- 7:16Speaker 5: Smells like value to me.
- 7:17Speaker 4: And Stu, yesterday proved when the Chiefs breakout plays like that.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Right.
- 7:23Speaker 4: The Chiefs are at their best when their offense shows
- 7:26Speaker 4: that they need wrinkles to just keep themselves entertained.
- 7:30Speaker 5: Yes, they are.
- 7:32Speaker 1: And if the Chiefs aren't going to give up that
- 7:34Speaker 1: many points, they're going to win just about every game.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Meaning if the defense is going to be that good,
- 7:38Speaker 1: no one was expecting the defense to be this good.
- 7:41Speaker 1: It's a young defense. They lost McDuffie. Spags is the
- 7:44Speaker 1: greatest defensive coordinator ever. in the history of the NFL.
- 7:48Speaker 1: If the defense is going to be that good, and
- 7:50Speaker 1: I'm not certain they're going to be that good, but
- 7:52Speaker 1: they were last night. If they continue, then yes, I
- 7:55Speaker 1: would say the Chiefs are probably, with everything that we
- 7:58Speaker 1: just said, probably the favorites out of the AFC.
- 8:01Speaker 4: If you're telling me I have to back one of
- 8:02Speaker 4: these AFC teams, Josh Allen, who's never made it to
- 8:06Speaker 4: a Super Bowl, Lamar Jackson, who's never made it to
- 8:08Speaker 4: a Super Bowl.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Yep. Whatever Justin Herbert did in L.A.
- 8:11Speaker 4: In week one.
- 8:11Speaker 1: You're not backing him. Stop.
- 8:12Speaker 5: Get him out of that conversation. Right.
- 8:15Speaker 4: Where I want to put my money and back my horse.
- 8:19Speaker 4: I want to be standing next to Spags and saying, Spags,
- 8:22Speaker 4: you're my guy. Go dial up some blitzes.
- 8:24Speaker 1: So what you're trying to do is you want to
- 8:26Speaker 1: do it right now, right after week one, before everyone
- 8:29Speaker 1: else jumps on board and says, hey, you know what?
- 8:31Speaker 3: The Chiefs are the favorite out of the AFC. You
- 8:33Speaker 3: want to be ahead of everyone here, right?
- 8:34Speaker 5: This is me.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Calling my shot right now. When we get to Radio Row,
- 8:38Speaker 4: I'm going to have my feet up on the desk saying,
- 8:41Speaker 4: You guys didn't think the Chiefs were going to be here?
- 8:44Speaker 4: There were many years where I didn't think the Chiefs
- 8:46Speaker 4: were going to be there.
- 8:47Speaker 1: On record. And yet they kept showing up. So maybe
- 8:52Speaker 1: you're right. I mean, maybe you are right. Maybe they
- 8:55Speaker 1: are the favorites in the AFC. I have no idea.
- 8:59Speaker 1: That was very impressive. I'm more concerned. I have more
- 9:02Speaker 1: questions about the Broncos. I have zero questions about the Chiefs.
- 9:05Speaker 1: My questions are about Denver, Sean Payton, who's calling plays,
- 9:09Speaker 1: and why that offense looks so putrid last night in
- 9:12Speaker 1: Kansas City. Those are the questions you should have coming
- 9:15Speaker 1: out of that game. That team was in the AFC
- 9:18Speaker 1: championship game a year ago.
- 9:21Speaker 3: It looked disastrous last night.
- 9:23Speaker 4: It feels like with a franchise quarterback, I don't know
- 9:25Speaker 4: if you agree with this, Dan. A franchise quarterback, you
- 9:28Speaker 4: should know it when you see it. And when we
- 9:30Speaker 4: see Bo Nix, I feel like we're left with too
- 9:33Speaker 4: many times wondering, can Bo Nix be the guy in Denver?
- 9:36Speaker 8: Yeah, I don't put him in that category of franchise quarterback.
- 9:39Speaker 8: I think he can be a good quarterback. But yeah,
- 9:42Speaker 8: to your point, I'm not necessarily seeing it. And I
- 9:44Speaker 8: like Bo Nix. I like what the Broncos have. I
- 9:47Speaker 8: think last night was a tough on the road. Mahomes' return.
- 9:51Speaker 8: Kansas City's juiced up. Denver doesn't know. By the way,
- 9:54Speaker 8: Mahomes looked healthier than Bo Nix did last night. And
- 9:57Speaker 8: Mahomes had the more severe injury in coming back from it.
- 10:00Speaker 1: It.
- 10:00Speaker 8: But, yeah, I think, Taylor, that's a fair assessment because
- 10:03Speaker 8: I just don't know if he's got the it, it,
- 10:06Speaker 8: it that you need to be that the guy that
- 10:08Speaker 8: we talk about in the National Football League.
- 10:11Speaker 6: Dan Beyer, you're a Seattle Seahawks fan. You, above all,
- 10:14Speaker 6: with Sam Donald, you know he doesn't have to be
- 10:17Speaker 6: the guy in order to win. And the Denver Broncos
- 10:20Speaker 6: are supposed to be, they didn't show it yesterday, good
- 10:23Speaker 6: enough on defense and have a good enough running game,
- 10:26Speaker 6: top five offensive line to be able to I mean,
- 10:30Speaker 6: win the AFC at least.
- 10:32Speaker 7: Yeah, I have no problems with Denver as a team.
- 10:35Speaker 8: But if we're talking about Bo Nix being that quarterback guy,
- 10:38Speaker 8: just like we were talking about with Justin Herbert yesterday
- 10:40Speaker 8: in the program, I don't necessarily have that feeling with
- 10:45Speaker 8: Bo Nix. Didn't get help from Jalen Waddle last night.
- 10:47Speaker 8: who's supposed to add to that. But different conversation for
- 10:50Speaker 8: me when you're talking about Bo Nix as the quarterback
- 10:52Speaker 8: as opposed to Denver as the team. I just think
- 10:54Speaker 8: going into that Hornets' nest last night was difficult. I mean,
- 10:57Speaker 8: the Chiefs fans were looking for something to cheer for.
- 11:00Speaker 8: Last year was abysmal. I'll tell you what, as a
- 11:03Speaker 8: Seahawks fan, and what Seahawks fans are saying today is
- 11:06Speaker 8: saying like, oh, maybe we should have ran Kenneth Walker
- 11:08Speaker 8: more last season or anybody that had Kenneth Walker in fantasy.
- 11:11Speaker 8: We saw what he did in the playoffs and now
- 11:13Speaker 8: what he's done in game one here. And he was
- 11:15Speaker 8: splitting with Zach Charbonnet. So that is a conversation going
- 11:18Speaker 8: on in the Pacific Northwest right now.
- 11:21Speaker 3: I love football. I love fans. Dan, you're holding up
- 11:23Speaker 3: the trophy.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Who cares? Agreed. Agreed. If I told you, hey, Kenneth Walker,
- 11:29Speaker 1: never going to play another down for you ever again,
- 11:32Speaker 1: but you win a Super Bowl. You take that.
- 11:34Speaker 7: For sure.
- 11:37Speaker 8: It reminds me of the C.C. Sabathia with the Brewers.
- 11:39Speaker 8: They were just like, all right, we're going to just
- 11:40Speaker 8: run this thing. We know he's not coming back next year.
- 11:43Speaker 8: And I think they knew that with Walker. But, man,
- 11:45Speaker 8: he looked good last night. Like, really good.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Yes, he did. Mikey, I have never seen Taylor happier.
- 11:51Speaker 1: I've never seen him more pleased with himself. Since we're
- 11:54Speaker 1: talking Chiefs, this happened yesterday. We were talking Chiefs with
- 11:57Speaker 1: Sal Licata yesterday. Sal said something. Taylor had a rebuttal.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I missed it. Totally whiffed. But I don't think Taylor
- 12:05Speaker 1: has a prouder radio moment than the one I'm going
- 12:07Speaker 1: to play for you right now.
- 12:09Speaker 9: I think the Chiefs make a statement tonight and let
- 12:11Speaker 9: everybody know that they're back. Maybe not back in the
- 12:13Speaker 9: fullest of ways, but back enough to prove themselves against
- 12:16Speaker 9: a very tough division opponent.
- 12:19Speaker 4: What kind of statement is that?
- 12:24Speaker 1: All i offered was yup like you followed what sal
- 12:29Speaker 1: was saying i had no idea until taylor played it
- 12:31Speaker 1: back for me.
- 12:32Speaker 4: It sounded like sal wanted to give a take but
- 12:36Speaker 4: instead of just jumping into the pool and doing a
- 12:39Speaker 4: cannonball he was like trying to get in on the
- 12:41Speaker 4: ladder like very very slowly.
- 12:43Speaker 1: All right let's slowly dissect this take here from sal
- 12:46Speaker 1: lakata who is not with us today he'll be back
- 12:48Speaker 1: later this week Let's play it one more time. Here's
- 12:52Speaker 1: Sal and Taylor.
- 12:54Speaker 9: I think the Chiefs make a statement tonight and let
- 12:56Speaker 9: everybody know that they're back. Maybe not back in the
- 12:58Speaker 9: fullest of ways, but back enough to prove themselves against
- 13:02Speaker 9: a very tough division opponent.
- 13:04Speaker 4: What kind of statement is that?
- 13:06Speaker 3: So back enough.
- 13:10Speaker 4: He walked back the statement. They're going to make a statement,
- 13:14Speaker 4: but not the statement that everybody thinks they are going
- 13:16Speaker 4: to make.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Right.
- 13:17Speaker 4: It's, it's, I was listening to that and saying, what
- 13:20Speaker 4: happened to Sal? I knew on WFAN, the sound WFAN
- 13:24Speaker 4: would not give that middleman take.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Yes.
- 13:26Speaker 1: He's a changed man. Maybe he's lost a little on
- 13:29Speaker 1: the fastball, but you're right. Like that is a middling take.
- 13:36Speaker 1: He said nothing.
- 13:38Speaker 8: It's like he put his toe in the water with
- 13:39Speaker 8: we're back, and then the water was too cold, and
- 13:42Speaker 8: then he's stepping out.
- 13:43Speaker 7: But not back, back, but back enough where.
- 13:50Speaker 3: No, I think your analysis of this is right.
- 13:52Speaker 1: He didn't want to commit to them being fully back,
- 13:55Speaker 1: but they're back enough where they could compete against a
- 13:57Speaker 1: divisional opponent in week one of the NFL season. It's
- 14:01Speaker 1: a ridiculous take.
- 14:04Speaker 6: He jumped in the pool, but instead of like doing
- 14:06Speaker 6: a full on like dive or a cannonball, he grabbed
- 14:09Speaker 6: the side to keep his upper body from going in
- 14:11Speaker 6: the water.
- 14:13Speaker 4: And I'm kind of, I'm kind of the lifeguard standing
- 14:15Speaker 4: off to the side, like, Hey, come on, get it,
- 14:17Speaker 4: get in the water.
- 14:20Speaker 8: I feel the visual is, and you guys can see this,
- 14:23Speaker 8: but we're back, but not enough to be fully back,
- 14:27Speaker 8: but back enough to be against a good division opponent,
- 14:31Speaker 8: but we're at home, but they've got a quarterback coming
- 14:34Speaker 8: off of an injury, but we've got a quarterback coming
- 14:37Speaker 8: off of an injury, but Travis Kelsey is married, but
- 14:40Speaker 8: we've got Kenneth Walker, all of that encompassing, just moving
- 14:44Speaker 8: up and down.
- 14:45Speaker 7: Just like a stock would.
- 14:46Speaker 5: Tom Cruise is here.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Tom Cruise, yeah.
- 14:49Speaker 7: But not enough with Tom Cruise in attendance. All right,
- 14:54Speaker 7: let's play it one more time.
- 14:55Speaker 1: I want you to listen and listen closely to Taylor's
- 14:59Speaker 1: confusion as Sal is giving this take because you can
- 15:02Speaker 1: hear it. It's rare that you can hear confusion. You
- 15:04Speaker 1: can hear it right here.
- 15:05Speaker 5: Play it again.
- 15:06Speaker 9: I think the Chiefs make a statement tonight and let
- 15:08Speaker 9: everybody know that they're back. Maybe not back in the
- 15:10Speaker 9: fullest of ways, but back enough to prove themselves against
- 15:14Speaker 9: a very tough division opponent.
- 15:16Speaker 4: What kind of statement is that?
- 15:18Speaker 1: It's genuine Confusement Is that a word? Confusement?
- 15:24Speaker 6: That was a bad teammate move by you That was
- 15:27Speaker 6: a bad teammate.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Move But so good, yes It's better than what I
- 15:30Speaker 1: gave him If.
- 15:32Speaker 4: He just stuck to his guns And said they're going
- 15:35Speaker 4: to make a statement He would be sitting here today
- 15:37Speaker 4: saying Yes, I was right, they did make a statement
- 15:40Speaker 4: Instead he walked it back a.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Bit Yes, it turns out he should have jumped All
- 15:44Speaker 1: the way in the pool and stayed there Laughter Because
- 15:48Speaker 1: they are back. They're not just competing with divisional opponents.
- 15:51Speaker 1: They're blowing them out with Mahomes, who's not right yet.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gatz and
- 15:58Speaker 2: Company live weekdays at 3 p.m. Eastern, 12 p.m. Pacific
- 16:03Speaker 2: on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Sterling Shepard still doing it, huh?
- 16:13Speaker 7: Not quite.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Well, he's playing still. But he's still in the league, man. Mikey,
- 16:20Speaker 3: you'll laugh at this.
- 16:21Speaker 1: They are criticizing Matt Nagy for how much better the
- 16:24Speaker 1: offense is. with Eric Biennemi in Kansas City, yet Matt
- 16:27Speaker 1: Nagy is the toast of the town in New York.
- 16:29Speaker 1: I can't figure football out, man. I have no idea
- 16:32Speaker 1: if Nagy is good at this or if he's bad
- 16:34Speaker 1: at this. He had Patrick Mahomes. He was terrible. He
- 16:37Speaker 1: has Jackson Dart. He's great through one game. Football.
- 16:42Speaker 8: I'll tell you what, with Matt Nagy, he focused way
- 16:44Speaker 8: too much on that Cody Parkey field goal miss in Chicago,
- 16:47Speaker 8: the double doink. Like they were so fixated on that.
- 16:51Speaker 8: They actually made the playoffs twice under Nagy there, but
- 16:55Speaker 8: they were so worried about the stupid double doink.
- 16:57Speaker 1: And man.
- 17:00Speaker 8: Win-win-win, as Michael Scott would say, because New York gets Nagy,
- 17:04Speaker 8: Chiefs have their, and the Ravens, they wanted to get
- 17:06Speaker 8: rid of John Harbaugh, and now Declan Doyle and Jesse
- 17:09Speaker 8: Minter are the toast of the town.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Everybody wins. Win-win-win-win-win-win-win. Yes. The double doink, though, Dan.
- 17:15Speaker 5: We win, too.
- 17:17Speaker 4: The double doink feels like something that's tough to come
- 17:19Speaker 4: back from as a head coach.
- 17:22Speaker 3: It is the most impossible thing to come back from.
- 17:25Speaker 7: Yes.
- 17:25Speaker 3: The double doink loss.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Yes.
- 17:27Speaker 8: Like we think a double doink is like, how awful
- 17:29Speaker 8: is that? But it's also of like how close that
- 17:31Speaker 8: could have gone in.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Right.
- 17:32Speaker 7: It had two opportunities to go in.
- 17:35Speaker 8: And then when they were trying out kickers, because everybody
- 17:36Speaker 8: was mad at Cody Parkey, he's making them kick a
- 17:38Speaker 8: 43-yard field goal, which is focusing so much on what
- 17:42Speaker 8: was a really, really close kick.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Do you guys remember the aftermath of that? Thank you
- 17:47Speaker 1: for jarring my memory, Dan, because they had tryouts for kickers.
- 17:50Speaker 1: I mean, they were taking anyone off the street, anyone
- 17:53Speaker 1: who could kick.
- 17:55Speaker 7: From 43 yards, whatever. I think that was the distance,
- 17:58Speaker 7: but my goodness.
- 18:00Speaker 4: I also had this thought after the Thursday night football
- 18:03Speaker 4: game with Patriots Seahawks where Drake May has that catastrophic mistake.
- 18:08Speaker 4: And I was thinking like.
- 18:08Speaker 5: That was Wednesday.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Last season.
- 18:11Speaker 4: Oh, that was the Wednesday game.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Yes.
- 18:13Speaker 4: And the Rams 49ers was the Thursday night game.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Yes.
- 18:16Speaker 4: I had the thought if Drake May's career never recovers
- 18:19Speaker 4: from this mistake, I wouldn't be that surprised. Even though
- 18:22Speaker 4: he was an MVP candidate. I know we're doing overreaction Mondays.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Right.
- 18:26Speaker 4: I would still be surprised. And it's Tuesday.
- 18:32Speaker 3: You got nothing right there.
- 18:37Speaker 7: That's a Brett Musburger.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Mark it down.
- 18:40Speaker 7: That's what it is. Brett Musburger. Mark it down.
- 18:43Speaker 8: 535 in the second quarter. Mark it down.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I mean, if you wonder why I'm confused. And a
- 18:50Speaker 1: bit dizzy. No, he doesn't. He doesn't recover from these things.
- 18:54Speaker 4: I was confused.
- 18:54Speaker 7: I had no idea what he was trying to say.
- 18:57Speaker 4: Somebody bring in the righty.
- 18:59Speaker 1: All right, I'm bringing in Mikey A. If the season
- 19:04Speaker 1: ended today, it's a tradition around here. We do it
- 19:07Speaker 1: every single week, and we are only through week one. So,
- 19:10Speaker 1: Mikey A., take it away.
- 19:11Speaker 3: If the season ended today.
- 19:15Speaker 6: All right, so as Stu said, this is something we
- 19:17Speaker 6: do a lot where we just end the NFL season
- 19:20Speaker 6: right now, and this is the world we're going to
- 19:22Speaker 6: live in. If the season ended today, your number one
- 19:27Speaker 6: seed in the AFC would be the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 19:30Speaker 5: Wow.
- 19:32Speaker 3: So what he's asking us is, do we think that's
- 19:35Speaker 3: going to hold, right?
- 19:35Speaker 1: Essentially? Essentially.
- 19:39Speaker 5: I'm just asking you if you'd be surprised if you'd
- 19:42Speaker 5: like that.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Well, I wouldn't be surprised.
- 19:43Speaker 5: Now I'm going to give you the playoff matchup.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Well, it's a fact, though. The Jaguars would be the
- 19:47Speaker 1: number one seed. Yes. If the season ended today.
- 19:51Speaker 7: And the last place you'd want to go in the
- 19:53Speaker 7: playoffs in January is northeast Florida.
- 19:57Speaker 8: To a stadium that's only half being used because it's
- 19:59Speaker 8: being built for a new stadium. And they have to
- 20:02Speaker 8: put lights in the upper deck because they have nowhere
- 20:04Speaker 8: else to put them. That's the last place you want
- 20:07Speaker 8: to go in January in the NFL.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Yes. You're so right, Dan, because all the other AFC
- 20:11Speaker 1: contenders are saying, hey, if we're not going to be
- 20:12Speaker 1: the one seed, let us be two, three or four.
- 20:14Speaker 3: But let Jacksonville be the one seed. It's like a
- 20:18Speaker 3: home game for us.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Right.
- 20:21Speaker 5: So here are your games in the AFC playoffs. If
- 20:24Speaker 5: the season ended today.
- 20:25Speaker 1: So if the season ended today after a week, this
- 20:28Speaker 1: would be your playoff matchups in the AFC.
- 20:31Speaker 5: OK, this is correct.
- 20:32Speaker 1: All right.
- 20:33Speaker 6: All right. The Cincinnati Bengals would be traveling to the
- 20:36Speaker 6: Kansas City Chiefs.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Hmm. I'll take that game right now. So whenever, right
- 20:40Speaker 1: now I would take this game.
- 20:42Speaker 5: Yes.
- 20:42Speaker 3: Would my homes take this game?
- 20:45Speaker 8: I like Kansas city in that matchup to make a
- 20:48Speaker 8: solid victory.
- 20:50Speaker 7: However, not enough, you know? Yeah.
- 20:52Speaker 8: To say that they're there, the playoffs, but give me
- 20:55Speaker 8: the chiefs.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Wow. What a great matchup.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Bengals at chiefs.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Hold on. I thought we're picking the game. I mean,
- 21:03Speaker 1: It gets better.
- 21:04Speaker 5: You got to move.
- 21:05Speaker 1: All right. I have the Bengals in there.
- 21:06Speaker 4: It's hard to see how it's going to get better
- 21:07Speaker 4: than that game.
- 21:09Speaker 1: It's impossible.
- 21:11Speaker 5: The Buffalo Bills travel to the Baltimore Ravens.
- 21:14Speaker 1: It's possible. So now it's Bills at Ravens. If the
- 21:22Speaker 1: season ended today, you would have the greatest first round
- 21:25Speaker 1: in the history of the NFL playoffs. I wish the
- 21:28Speaker 1: season did end today. But Bill's at Ravens. That's a
- 21:32Speaker 1: battle of two quarterbacks.
- 21:34Speaker 5: Chasing a ring, man.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Wow.
- 21:36Speaker 3: And the winner goes on to face Cincinnati, I guess.
- 21:39Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 21:40Speaker 5: Or Jacksonville.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Or Jacksonville.
- 21:41Speaker 5: Depends on the third matchup, too.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Jacksonville's not winning this time.
- 21:44Speaker 5: Remember how I said it gets better?
- 21:45Speaker 1: Yes.
- 21:47Speaker 6: That was the last game. Your last matchup is the
- 21:49Speaker 6: Raiders at the Jets. That's your NFL Network Saturday night game,
- 21:53Speaker 6: I bet.
- 21:55Speaker 1: If the season ended today, people's heads would explode.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Raiders at Jets.
- 22:02Speaker 1: A revenge spot for Gino Smith Gino right not the
- 22:05Speaker 1: exact revenge that he wants but revenge nonetheless.
- 22:09Speaker 8: We also got a tweet this from 1968 yes please
- 22:13Speaker 8: on Jets Raiders 1968 loves.
- 22:16Speaker 7: That matchup.
- 22:18Speaker 1: The Oakland Raiders right yes.
- 22:20Speaker 7: Raiders Jets they're good with it I have the.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Jets in that game.
- 22:25Speaker 4: Oh yeah Jets would be at least minus four and
- 22:26Speaker 4: a half.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Wait that means Kirk Cousins would still be starting for
- 22:29Speaker 1: the Raiders if they made it that far right sure
- 22:32Speaker 1: i mean.
- 22:32Speaker 3: If the season ended today.
- 22:34Speaker 5: If the season ended today cousins is still starting.
- 22:37Speaker 10: What a weekend we have in store for us i
- 22:39Speaker 10: mean would gina smith be the first quarterback to win
- 22:41Speaker 10: a division without throwing a touchdown pass the entire season
- 22:45Speaker 10: i think that's that's also borderline history with what we have.
- 22:50Speaker 4: Mikey did the steelers miss the playoffs at one and
- 22:52Speaker 4: oh They did.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Tiebreaker. Yeah, tiebreakers.
- 22:56Speaker 5: Yep.
- 22:57Speaker 1: If the season ended today. Yes.
- 22:58Speaker 3: If the season ended today.
- 22:59Speaker 1: That's cruel.
- 22:59Speaker 10: Why?
- 23:00Speaker 1: Undefeated.
- 23:01Speaker 3: Yeah, undefeated.
- 23:03Speaker 1: And it made the playoffs.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Right.
- 23:05Speaker 5: You want to talk cruel. Let's go to the NFC.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Let's do it.
- 23:09Speaker 5: In the NFC, your number one seed is the San
- 23:11Speaker 5: Francisco 49ers. They get the bye.
- 23:13Speaker 4: Deserved.
- 23:14Speaker 5: Oh, no.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Okay.
- 23:16Speaker 5: Your first matchup.
- 23:18Speaker 1: They earned it.
- 23:18Speaker 6: The Philadelphia Eagles are at the Minnesota Vikings.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Yes.
- 23:23Speaker 1: So it's a loud revenge game for Carson Wentz.
- 23:26Speaker 4: Wow.
- 23:36Speaker 3: I mean, if the season ended today, Carson Wentz would
- 23:39Speaker 3: be the.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Quarterback in that game. Yes.
- 23:43Speaker 5: Your second matchup.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Yes.
- 23:45Speaker 6: The Detroit Lions would also be traveling to New York.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Yes.
- 23:50Speaker 5: To face the new york giants.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Wow so if the season ended today both new york
- 23:54Speaker 1: teams would make the playoffs.
- 23:57Speaker 5: They're hosting two games in two days.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Yes i mean i think the giants are going to
- 24:04Speaker 1: make the playoffs so i know the season doesn't end
- 24:07Speaker 1: today we have you know 17 more weeks of this
- 24:09Speaker 1: crap but i still have the giants making the playoffs
- 24:14Speaker 1: i'm trying to think who would win that game it's
- 24:17Speaker 1: a tough game It's a tough game. It is. I mean, Campbell, Harbaugh.
- 24:24Speaker 1: I'll take the Giants.
- 24:29Speaker 5: Your last matchup in the playoffs, if the season ended today.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Yes.
- 24:33Speaker 6: The Chicago Bears would be traveling. to the winless new
- 24:38Speaker 6: Orleans saints who are hosting a play.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Oh, wait a second. You can't be right.
- 24:42Speaker 5: That can't be right.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Wait, you cannot have undefeated South winter.
- 24:46Speaker 4: Oh, I forgot.
- 24:47Speaker 1: You can't have on. It's so perfect for the NFC South.
- 24:50Speaker 7: They did it.
- 24:50Speaker 1: You can't, you can't have undefeated teams, not making it
- 24:53Speaker 1: to the post season and.
- 24:55Speaker 3: Winless teams, making it to the post season.
- 24:57Speaker 1: You can't do it.
- 24:58Speaker 5: You sure can.
- 25:00Speaker 1: If the season ended today, what was that matchup bears
- 25:03Speaker 1: at Panthers?
- 25:04Speaker 5: No bears at.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Saints no i wish every week was bears at panthers
- 25:13Speaker 1: what an entertaining game yes nfc south winner i have
- 25:17Speaker 1: the bears winning that game and then winning the next
- 25:19Speaker 1: game and the next game and the next game.
- 25:21Speaker 6: How about that and listen don't don't don't dismiss tyler
- 25:25Speaker 6: shuck he's your uh nfl passing leader If the season
- 25:29Speaker 6: ended today.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Without a win.
- 25:32Speaker 5: Without a win.
- 25:33Speaker 3: They would be the first winless team to ever make.
- 25:36Speaker 1: It to the playoffs.
- 25:38Speaker 7: So the Saints get in based on.
- 25:39Speaker 5: You know who would have led the league in interceptions?
- 25:41Speaker 1: Who?
- 25:42Speaker 5: If the season ended today.
- 25:43Speaker 1: The Jets.
- 25:44Speaker 5: TJ Watt.
- 25:45Speaker 1: TJ, of course.
- 25:49Speaker 8: Saints get in based on best combined ranking among conference
- 25:52Speaker 8: teams in points scored and points allowed.
- 25:56Speaker 5: Wow.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Yep.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Really taking this seriously, Dan. I like it. I mean,
- 26:00Speaker 1: that's the point of the game.
- 26:01Speaker 7: He's checking my work, and I like it.
- 26:03Speaker 1: I appreciate it.
- 26:04Speaker 3: I am so happy that you're this into it. I
- 26:06Speaker 3: didn't think anyone was this into it other than me
- 26:08Speaker 3: and Billy Gill.
- 26:09Speaker 8: $ 100, these matchups are better than what we actually get
- 26:11Speaker 8: in January. Like, these are magnificent so far.
- 26:15Speaker 1: They really are. You're right. We should stop the season
- 26:18Speaker 1: today because we might not get these come January. Yes.
- 26:23Speaker 6: Listen, as a Jets fan, if the season ended today,
- 26:26Speaker 6: the Jets are picking second.
- 26:29Speaker 5: Thanks to the Green Bay Packers.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Right.
- 26:31Speaker 5: Sixth, thanks to the Indianapolis Colts.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Wow.
- 26:34Speaker 5: And the Tampa Bay Bucks are on the clock.
- 26:36Speaker 1: So they make the playoffs. They still have the second
- 26:39Speaker 1: pick and the sixth pick in next year's NFL draft.
- 26:42Speaker 1: And if, you know, perhaps they get bounced out in
- 26:44Speaker 1: the first round, Geno's getting older, they could still get
- 26:47Speaker 1: their quarterback of the future. Wow. What a season.
- 26:49Speaker 5: Yes.
- 26:51Speaker 4: The other option there.
- 26:52Speaker 1: We had a week.
- 26:53Speaker 4: You get Geno Smith some help. Jeremiah Smith in New
- 26:56Speaker 4: York next year.
- 26:58Speaker 5: That's what the sixth pick is for.
- 27:02Speaker 7: You mentioned the Carson Wentz Bowl. I'm still stuck.
- 27:04Speaker 8: Does Sam Bradford show up in the half-and-half jersey, like
- 27:07Speaker 8: the half-Vikings, half-Eagles jersey for that game? There's a lot
- 27:11Speaker 8: riding on the line here. A lot of cross-pollination.
- 27:16Speaker 3: If the season ended today.
- 27:17Speaker 7: If the season ended today.
- 27:20Speaker 3: Wait, so the Texans aren't in?
- 27:23Speaker 5: Texans aren't in?
- 27:24Speaker 7: Seahawks aren't in.
- 27:26Speaker 5: Oh, wow.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Now I know why he's pissed off.
- 27:29Speaker 3: This is why he's so engaged.
- 27:31Speaker 7: This is why I'm reading tiebreakers.
- 27:33Speaker 5: The Texans are picking fourth.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Oh, wow. They get their quarterback. If the season ended today,
- 27:43Speaker 1: when would the draft be?
- 27:47Speaker 5: Tomorrow.
- 27:48Speaker 4: I would be fine if we just got rid of
- 27:49Speaker 4: the NFC South entirely.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Put it on the poll. Would you be okay if
- 27:53Speaker 1: we got rid of the NFC South entirely?
- 27:55Speaker 4: Just like disband them and send them to other divisions.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Agreed.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Yes.
- 27:59Speaker 1: I'm all for it.
- 28:01Speaker 5: I mean, why?
- 28:01Speaker 1: What's the point? I mean, one of those teams is
- 28:04Speaker 1: going to go 8-9 and make it to the postseason
- 28:06Speaker 1: and get bounced out in the first round.
- 28:08Speaker 3: A tradition unlike any other.
- 28:12Speaker 5: That was the Panthers Super Bowl last year, remember?
- 28:14Speaker 3: If the season ended today.
- 28:15Speaker 5: Toe to toe with the Rams.
- 28:17Speaker 1: If the season ended today, who would be your MVP?
- 28:19Speaker 1: One week.
- 28:23Speaker 4: For me, it would be Josh Allen.
- 28:25Speaker 1: I would go Kenneth Walker.
- 28:26Speaker 4: Wow, I forgot about Kenneth Walker already, actually.
- 28:30Speaker 5: That was impressive.
- 28:31Speaker 3: So it's the MVP of week one, essentially, is what
- 28:33Speaker 3: I'm asking.
- 28:34Speaker 5: Caleb Williams.
- 28:37Speaker 7: Oh, that's right.
- 28:37Speaker 1: I forgot about it.
- 28:38Speaker 4: Coach of the year, Ben Johnson.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Coach of the year, Ben Johnson, MVP, Caleb Williams. Yes,
- 28:44Speaker 1: I agree.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Yes.
- 28:46Speaker 1: The Bears winning the Super Bowl. If the season ended today.
- 28:51Speaker 5: Chris Olave, your offensive player of the year, leads the
- 28:54Speaker 5: league in receiving.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Does it?
- 28:57Speaker 7: Derek Henry would also get some votes.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Right.
- 28:59Speaker 1: He would love a one-game season because eventually Olave is
- 29:02Speaker 1: going to get hurt. First year, he stayed upright the
- 29:07Speaker 1: entire season. He's covered with the Guardian cap now. Those
- 29:12Speaker 1: days are in the past. I like the Saints, man.
- 29:17Speaker 1: I want the Saints to do well. I like Shuck.
- 29:19Speaker 1: I like that team. They're entertaining. They're fun.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Why are you shaking your head, Taylor? You don't like
- 29:24Speaker 3: that division?
- 29:25Speaker 4: I like Shuck. I don't like the supporting cast around Shuck.
- 29:29Speaker 4: What are we supposed to have Shuck on? They leave
- 29:33Speaker 4: a lot to be desired, the New Orleans Saints.
- 29:35Speaker 1: I'm working on it.
- 29:38Speaker 5: Work harder.
- 29:38Speaker 1: You think Shuck likes his surrounding talent? I think he
- 29:43Speaker 1: likes the guys on offense. The defense, he probably has
- 29:45Speaker 1: some questions.
- 29:45Speaker 4: Remember when we had Tyler Shuck on and we asked him, like,
- 29:48Speaker 4: who would you add to this team? And he said,
- 29:49Speaker 4: Alec Pierce. And everybody kind of looked around and said,
- 29:52Speaker 4: Alec Pierce?
- 29:52Speaker 1: Yes, it was weird. Right.
- 29:54Speaker 3: No, I asked him, hey, you can have one wide
- 29:56Speaker 3: receiver in the NFL.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Anyone. You can pick anyone.
- 29:59Speaker 3: They're all at your disposal. And he thought for a minute,
- 30:03Speaker 3: and then he thought some more.
- 30:04Speaker 1: And what he blurted back to us was Alec Pierce,
- 30:06Speaker 1: and we all looked at each other like he was
- 30:08Speaker 1: an alien.
- 30:08Speaker 2: I mean.
- 30:10Speaker 6: See, but that's Tyler Shuck playing chess while we're playing checkers.
- 30:14Speaker 6: He knew if he said somebody currently on a team,
- 30:17Speaker 6: he could get fined for tampering.
- 30:19Speaker 5: So he said a free agent. He said the best
- 30:21Speaker 5: free agent available.
- 30:22Speaker 1: It's a heady blood.
- 30:23Speaker 4: I'm not sure there's any world where Alec Pierce is
- 30:25Speaker 4: the best free agent available.
- 30:27Speaker 5: Best wide receiver free agent available.
- 30:29Speaker 1: So you're saying at the time he just didn't know
- 30:31Speaker 1: his options is essentially what you're saying. He just he can't.
- 30:34Speaker 5: Say Justin Jefferson. Right.
- 30:36Speaker 6: Vikings sue for another tampering and they cost him a
- 30:39Speaker 6: second round pick or something.
- 30:40Speaker 5: Can't do it.
- 30:41Speaker 1: No, but Taylor's saying there could be two free agent
- 30:44Speaker 1: wide receivers and the best one is never going to
- 30:46Speaker 1: be out here.
- 30:47Speaker 5: Yes.
- 30:48Speaker 7: Alec Pierce or Sterling Shepard. Who do you like?
- 30:52Speaker 4: I'll take OBJ over.
- 30:55Speaker 6: Is it possible he thought I said white receiver instead
- 30:57Speaker 6: of wide receiver?
- 31:03Speaker 3: That concludes if the season ended today.
- 31:05Speaker 7: Luckily, it doesn't.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Well, the Jets do. And a lave. Taylor, what is
- 31:14Speaker 1: happening with this Tennessee Titan fan who's getting attacked by
- 31:17Speaker 1: the internet?
- 31:17Speaker 3: What is going on there?
- 31:20Speaker 4: So a Titans fan made the catastrophic mistake of putting
- 31:23Speaker 4: out a promise on social media if the Titans were
- 31:28Speaker 4: to lose to the Jets.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Right.
- 31:29Speaker 4: So August 23rd, a Twitter user by the handle of BallinFFB,
- 31:35Speaker 4: if the Tennessee Titans lose to the Jets... If the
- 31:39Speaker 4: Tennessee Titans lose to the Jets week one, I will
- 31:41Speaker 4: walk from MetLife Stadium all the way to Nissan Stadium nonstop.
- 31:47Speaker 5: Right.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Okay. And?
- 31:49Speaker 4: Time to pay up the bet because the Jets win.
- 31:52Speaker 4: The Jets beat the Titans 23 to 10. And this
- 31:54Speaker 4: guy has come to Twitter and said, I'm not walking.
- 31:58Speaker 1: He's the Stugatz of the day. I mean, how about that?
- 32:01Speaker 1: He is not walking. Why would he put that out
- 32:04Speaker 1: there and then not pay off the bet? I mean,
- 32:07Speaker 1: it's ridiculous.
- 32:08Speaker 5: Because his nickname, his Twitter handle is Ballin'. Yes. That's why.
- 32:12Speaker 5: Because he's one of those people.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Yes.
- 32:14Speaker 4: So once he put this up on August 23rd, the
- 32:16Speaker 4: next day it had started to blow up because Jets
- 32:20Speaker 4: fans were like, hey, we are going to hold you
- 32:22Speaker 4: accountable if the Jets win this game.
- 32:24Speaker 1: Right.
- 32:24Speaker 4: And Jets fans are tweeting at him like, make sure
- 32:27Speaker 4: you hydrate. He's like, oh, we're not losing to the
- 32:29Speaker 4: lousy Jets. So when you put Nissan Stadium to MetLife
- 32:32Speaker 4: Stadium in Google Maps or Apple Maps.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Right.
- 32:35Speaker 4: It says you can't walk.
- 32:38Speaker 1: What?
- 32:38Speaker 4: It says you can only drive because I'm assuming they're
- 32:41Speaker 4: saying you can't walk on like major highways.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Right.
- 32:43Speaker 4: So that's what this guy, this fan is now using
- 32:46Speaker 4: as his excuse. The walk apparently is impossible, but if
- 32:50Speaker 4: a car could get you there.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Yes.
- 32:52Speaker 4: So can your feet. And this guy better get walking.
- 32:55Speaker 3: He found the loophole.
- 32:56Speaker 1: I mean, and it's funny, the least accountable fan base
- 33:00Speaker 1: in all of sports is trying to hold someone accountable
- 33:03Speaker 1: for something they said on social media. I mean, Jet
- 33:08Speaker 1: fans holding a guy accountable is laugh out loud funny.
- 33:11Speaker 1: He should walk, though.
- 33:13Speaker 3: Stu, 1,000%.
- 33:14Speaker 4: The second you put it on social media, if blank happens,
- 33:18Speaker 4: I'll do blank. You have to follow through on that
- 33:20Speaker 4: because I don't know if you guys remember this. A
- 33:22Speaker 4: Florida State fan did something similar when they were playing
- 33:25Speaker 4: Boston College back in 2024.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Right.
- 33:27Speaker 4: An FSU fan with the handle 321Knoll posted a claim
- 33:33Speaker 4: saying that, He would eat something coming from a dog
- 33:37Speaker 4: out of a Red Solo cup using a spoon and
- 33:40Speaker 4: post a video because he was that sure that they
- 33:42Speaker 4: would not lose to FSU.
- 33:44Speaker 8: Right.
- 33:44Speaker 4: And FSU wound up losing the game 28 to 13.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Yes.
- 33:48Speaker 4: And since that has happened. fsu is cursed like nothing
- 33:52Speaker 4: has gone right for fsu since this fan made made
- 33:56Speaker 4: this proclamation.
- 33:57Speaker 1: They fired their ad correct not their coach mike norvell
- 34:00Speaker 1: that's coming they fired the ad florida state yes.
- 34:03Speaker 4: Yeah this is what we call in the business the
- 34:05Speaker 4: move before.
- 34:05Speaker 1: The move they fired the guy who made the hire
- 34:07Speaker 1: right and then the.
- 34:09Speaker 4: New ad comes in and it's a lot easier for
- 34:12Speaker 4: the new ad to say hey this guy's not my
- 34:14Speaker 4: guy get him out of town this is.
- 34:15Speaker 8: The severe thunderstorm watch That's what this is. And the
- 34:19Speaker 8: warning is very, very soon to follow.
- 34:24Speaker 1: The only supporter you have in the entire school is
- 34:28Speaker 1: no longer there. Deion Sanders is head of the Florida State.
- 34:31Speaker 1: I think Taylor's going to be right about this. I do.
- 34:33Speaker 4: Yeah. It just makes too much sense. And you would
- 34:36Speaker 4: assume that... norvell's buyout is like 50 plus million dollars
- 34:41Speaker 4: fsu's not going to want to break the bank on
- 34:43Speaker 4: their next coaching hire dion going back to his alma
- 34:47Speaker 4: mater shouldn't necessarily do that especially like it's not like
- 34:51Speaker 4: dion you're going to be bidding against other schools for
- 34:54Speaker 4: dion because if another school wanted dion by now he
- 34:57Speaker 4: wouldn't still be at colorado.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Are you saying that dion would give them a hometown
- 35:00Speaker 1: discount is that what you're kind of saying Not so.
- 35:03Speaker 4: Much a hometown discount, because nothing about Deion Sanders gives
- 35:06Speaker 4: off that he's going to give anybody a hometown discount.
- 35:08Speaker 4: You get him at market value, at the very least.
- 35:11Speaker 1: I think he might give them an actual hometown discount,
- 35:14Speaker 1: because Deion Sanders has money. I think people are surprised
- 35:17Speaker 1: just how seriously Deion is taking the coaching thing. I
- 35:20Speaker 1: think at first, everyone thought he was in it for
- 35:22Speaker 1: his son, and he has proven that that was not
- 35:25Speaker 1: the only reason he was doing this. He loves to coach,
- 35:28Speaker 1: and why not coach at Florida State? He would be
- 35:30Speaker 1: the perfect coach for... For Florida State. He would be. Yeah, Mikey.
- 35:34Speaker 6: Yeah, but you don't need a hometown discount. You just
- 35:37Speaker 6: kind of have to match what Colorado is paying.
- 35:39Speaker 1: Right.
- 35:39Speaker 6: And then it's like, well, would you rather make this
- 35:41Speaker 6: much money in Colorado or Florida State?
- 35:44Speaker 5: And there's your answer. Right.
- 35:45Speaker 4: The mistake Florida State can't make is the mistake that
- 35:48Speaker 4: North Carolina make. No, not by hiring Bill Belichick. But
- 35:51Speaker 4: when you look at the contract.
- 35:53Speaker 5: Mike Lombardi.
- 35:54Speaker 1: No disaster i mean two-part disaster only three and a half.
- 35:59Speaker 4: Point underdog against clemson on the road this week.
- 36:01Speaker 1: I tell you they're better i mean you have to
- 36:03Speaker 1: get belichick credit the carolina is better this year yes.
- 36:06Speaker 4: But the mistake that north carolina made is when you
- 36:08Speaker 4: look at bill belichick's contract and you slot it against
- 36:11Speaker 4: other college football coaches the results you're getting are nowhere
- 36:14Speaker 4: near a top 10 paid coach in college football but
- 36:17Speaker 4: that's what they paid belichick to be at North Carolina.
- 36:21Speaker 4: And you're looking around at the landscape of college football,
- 36:23Speaker 4: like who was North Carolina bidding against for bill Belichick
- 36:27Speaker 4: to come back where you had, you feel like you
- 36:29Speaker 4: had to give them, you know, 10 plus million dollars
- 36:31Speaker 4: a year to coach.
- 36:33Speaker 1: I'd like to get the guy who's supposed to be
- 36:34Speaker 1: walking to Nissan stadium on the show. Can we get, no, cause.
- 36:39Speaker 4: He's also doing this pivot now where he's like, I'll
- 36:41Speaker 4: donate money to charity instead. And it's like, he said
- 36:44Speaker 4: he would donate a hundred dollars for every point the
- 36:47Speaker 4: jet scored and If they beat the Titans, which is $ 2, 300,
- 36:51Speaker 4: a good, good amount of money to go into charity,
- 36:53Speaker 4: but also like get your walk, use some of that
- 36:55Speaker 4: money to get some walking shoes, buddy.
- 36:57Speaker 1: Would you walk from New York to Tennessee? If it
- 37:00Speaker 1: meant you didn't have to part with $ 2, 300, that's a
- 37:01Speaker 1: good chunk of change. I mean, what you would fork
- 37:06Speaker 1: up the $ 2, 300.
- 37:09Speaker 5: I wouldn't make a stupid claim.
- 37:11Speaker 4: That walk is like eight days.
- 37:16Speaker 3: I understand that, Mikey, but it was the Jets.
- 37:22Speaker 4: You had no way of knowing. If North Carolina loses
- 37:26Speaker 4: to Duke and basketball, I'll walk from UNC to Duke.
- 37:29Speaker 1: It's a mile.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company
- 37:35Speaker 2: live weekdays at 3 p.m.
- 37:37Speaker 5: Eastern, 12 p.m. Pacific.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Eric Armstead from the Jacksonville Jaguars is going to join
- 37:43Speaker 1: us coming up in about 15 minutes or so. But
- 37:45Speaker 1: Taylor has his tears on a Tuesday, Mike. The football
- 37:48Speaker 1: weekend has ended. We had Monday night football last night.
- 37:52Speaker 1: The Chiefs look very, very good. Broncos, I would be concerned.
- 37:56Speaker 1: But he does have his tears on a Tuesday, Mikey.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Excited for this?
- 38:00Speaker 5: I'm always excited for Taylor's tears. He puts a lot
- 38:02Speaker 5: of thought into them.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Yes.
- 38:03Speaker 6: And, and frankly, I usually am pretty good at guessing
- 38:07Speaker 6: what he's got when he.
- 38:08Speaker 5: Gives me what a tear is called. Right.
- 38:10Speaker 3: Taylor, how much work do you put into this? Just
- 38:12Speaker 3: out of curiosity.
- 38:13Speaker 1: I mean, me and my team, we pour over it.
- 38:16Speaker 1: You have a team of minutes, do you? Is Mikey
- 38:20Speaker 1: part of that team? No.
- 38:21Speaker 4: No, it's an entire committee that I have.
- 38:24Speaker 1: A tier T.
- 38:25Speaker 5: Yes.
- 38:25Speaker 4: You know, like when you watch the college football committee
- 38:28Speaker 4: and it's like a bunch of 80s in a room
- 38:30Speaker 4: gathering together. And for some reason, Condoleezza Rice.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Right.
- 38:33Speaker 4: That's exactly what I have going on in my apartment.
- 38:37Speaker 3: Condoleezza Rice.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Funny name. Anytime you can pull it out. Mikey, so
- 38:41Speaker 1: what are you saying here with his tiers? Are you
- 38:43Speaker 1: saying if he gives you the name of a tier,
- 38:45Speaker 1: you can predict the teams that are in that tier?
- 38:48Speaker 5: I can come pretty close.
- 38:49Speaker 7: All right.
- 38:50Speaker 5: I can come pretty close.
- 38:51Speaker 7: All right.
- 38:51Speaker 1: I might want to try this.
- 38:52Speaker 3: Okay.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Taylor, take it away here.
- 38:57Speaker 5: Oh, that's good.
- 38:58Speaker 1: Yeah. So the category today for Taylor's tears on a Tuesday. Yes.
- 39:03Speaker 4: It's NFL teams. After week one, I've reassessed the NFL
- 39:08Speaker 4: and I've come up with eight tears.
- 39:10Speaker 1: Eight tears, eight tears. All right. So four teams each.
- 39:14Speaker 4: No, no, there's no, there's no rhyme or reason for
- 39:16Speaker 4: how many teams are in a team.
- 39:18Speaker 1: He has a team. I mean, don't worry about it.
- 39:20Speaker 3: Um, so are you starting with eight or one?
- 39:22Speaker 1: How are we doing this?
- 39:23Speaker 4: We're starting from the bottom.
- 39:24Speaker 5: Okay. Well, what is that? Yes.
- 39:26Speaker 4: The bottom tier.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:28Speaker 4: The March for Arch tier.
- 39:30Speaker 2: All right.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Stop right there. Mikey, I could tell us what teams
- 39:33Speaker 1: are in that tier. Let them guess. I want to hear.
- 39:35Speaker 5: There's six rounds and dolphins.
- 39:37Speaker 1: No, there's six teams in the March for Arch tier. Okay. Rams, Dolphins,
- 39:42Speaker 1: or two of them?
- 39:42Speaker 4: Both, correct.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Okay.
- 39:44Speaker 5: Titans.
- 39:44Speaker 4: The Titans are in it. I'm not sold on Cam Ward.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Wow. Number one pick.
- 39:48Speaker 5: Okay.
- 39:49Speaker 3: And you have no reason to be sold on Cam Ward.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Correct.
- 39:51Speaker 5: Zero.
- 39:52Speaker 1: Yes.
- 39:53Speaker 5: Okay.
- 39:54Speaker 1: I love this.
- 39:55Speaker 5: Is the Atlanta Falcons in there?
- 39:57Speaker 4: The Atlanta Falcons, Mikey, are in the March for Arch tier.
- 40:00Speaker 5: Wow. Yes, they are.
- 40:00Speaker 4: Because I'm not sold on Tua, I'm not sold on
- 40:03Speaker 4: Michael Penix, and I'm definitely not sold on Cooper Rush.
- 40:06Speaker 1: I mean, Peyton and Eli would love that, even though
- 40:08Speaker 1: none of them are their father. It's Arch's father. Sorry
- 40:11Speaker 1: about that.
- 40:12Speaker 4: So, Mikey, you've got four teams so far.
- 40:15Speaker 5: Yes.
- 40:15Speaker 4: I'll give you a hint on the March for Arch tier.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:18Speaker 5: One of the teams won this week. It's the New
- 40:21Speaker 5: York Jets. No.
- 40:23Speaker 1: Wow.
- 40:23Speaker 5: No.
- 40:24Speaker 3: We're not marching for Arch. We're not marching for Arch.
- 40:26Speaker 4: I think the Jets might be, spoiler, a little bit
- 40:28Speaker 4: too good.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Oh, wow. Mikey hates that.
- 40:31Speaker 5: The team that won this week is in there. Can't
- 40:35Speaker 5: be the Raiders. They just got their guy. Oh, Arizona.
- 40:42Speaker 1: Arizona.
- 40:42Speaker 4: The Arizona Cardinals.
- 40:44Speaker 5: Excuse me.
- 40:45Speaker 1: They got their guy.
- 40:46Speaker 5: Jacoby Brissett?
- 40:48Speaker 4: Not even Jacoby Brissett's family thinks he's the guy.
- 40:50Speaker 1: Yes. I dare you to put the Rams in this tier.
- 40:53Speaker 1: I dare you.
- 40:54Speaker 7: The Mark Farch?
- 40:54Speaker 1: Yes.
- 40:57Speaker 3: Why they lost Garrett. They're all in one.
- 40:59Speaker 4: I mean, so the March for Arch tier was only
- 41:03Speaker 4: going to be five teams.
- 41:04Speaker 5: Yes.
- 41:05Speaker 4: And then the committee reassessed and we have a surprise
- 41:09Speaker 4: entry after week one.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Yes. I want to guess.
- 41:13Speaker 4: Pittsburgh Steelers, Steelers, Broncos, not the Steelers, not the Broncos.
- 41:18Speaker 4: The surprise entry in the March for Arch tier was
- 41:21Speaker 4: The Indianapolis Colts.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 41:24Speaker 5: They can't get them.
- 41:26Speaker 4: No, they don't have a first-round pick. This is why
- 41:27Speaker 4: Mikey should have been on the committee.
- 41:28Speaker 1: This is why the Jets was the right pick.
- 41:32Speaker 3: You would think your committee, someone on the committee would
- 41:34Speaker 3: know that.
- 41:34Speaker 1: I mean... Well, this committee, we said, maybe there's other
- 41:38Speaker 1: ways because Peyton Manning made a career in Indianapolis.
- 41:42Speaker 2: Right.
- 41:42Speaker 4: Where would he want... his nephew to go because we
- 41:45Speaker 4: know Eli and Peyton are going to be pulling strings
- 41:48Speaker 4: like puppeteers behind the scenes.
- 41:49Speaker 2: Yes.
- 41:50Speaker 4: Maybe the Colts, Mikey trade, they, they mortgage their entire
- 41:54Speaker 4: future to get even more picks to get back in
- 41:58Speaker 4: because that sauce Gardner trade. That Sauce Gardner trade could
- 42:01Speaker 4: go down as one of the worst trades in NFL history.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Look at the Jets. They are competent. They have draft picks.
- 42:05Speaker 1: They are 1-0. Taylor thinks they're very good, maybe better
- 42:09Speaker 1: than people expected. I do, too. And they have all
- 42:11Speaker 1: the draft picks. They traded Sauce Gardner, and the Colts
- 42:14Speaker 1: don't have a pick. I mean.
- 42:16Speaker 4: Mikey, now that you're mentioning this... If I have the
- 42:19Speaker 4: Colts in the March for Arch tier, I think by
- 42:22Speaker 4: extension there has to be an asterisk next to them
- 42:24Speaker 4: that says the Jets.
- 42:27Speaker 1: Because I don't think the Jets are in the March
- 42:28Speaker 1: for Arch tier by themselves. Yes.
- 42:31Speaker 4: But through these picks, they technically are in the March
- 42:34Speaker 4: for Arch tier.
- 42:34Speaker 5: Yes.
- 42:35Speaker 1: They have operated a competent franchise. I cannot believe I'm
- 42:38Speaker 1: saying it. I don't know what to do with myself.
- 42:40Speaker 1: I want the season to end today.
- 42:44Speaker 6: According to espn fbi the colts had a three percent
- 42:47Speaker 6: chance of getting the number one pick one percent better
- 42:51Speaker 6: than the new york jets at two percent about.
- 42:53Speaker 4: That Wow, and that's even higher by the Taylor FPI metrics.
- 42:58Speaker 5: Yeah, which is more important.
- 42:59Speaker 2: Yes.
- 43:00Speaker 1: So there were five teams in the March for Arch
- 43:02Speaker 1: tier with an asterisk next to one of them, a 16.
- 43:04Speaker 4: The 16, yes. The Colts were the 16, yeah.
- 43:07Speaker 1: Yes.
- 43:07Speaker 5: Okay, they were.
- 43:09Speaker 4: The next tier. Could it be less relevant if they tried?
- 43:13Speaker 1: Wow.
- 43:15Speaker 4: There's four teams here. One of the teams is a
- 43:17Speaker 4: bit harsh.
- 43:18Speaker 5: Wow.
- 43:20Speaker 1: Give me the title again.
- 43:21Speaker 4: Could it be less relevant if they tried?
- 43:24Speaker 5: All right, there's your Steelers. Steelers.
- 43:28Speaker 1: I mean, they're relevant.
- 43:29Speaker 4: They're not relevant.
- 43:29Speaker 1: No, but they are. They're the Steelers.
- 43:31Speaker 4: They're not relevant.
- 43:32Speaker 3: They're relevant. Every single season.
- 43:35Speaker 5: They're relevant.
- 43:36Speaker 4: They're relevant in the sense like they're going to go
- 43:38Speaker 4: nine and eight, and their quarterback looks like he's going
- 43:40Speaker 4: to turn to dust every time he gets touched.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Fair.
- 43:45Speaker 6: I'm going to guess one team, and if this team
- 43:48Speaker 6: is in it, I'll bet you I know a second team.
- 43:51Speaker 1: Okay.
- 43:51Speaker 5: Okay. The Dallas Cowboys. No.
- 43:57Speaker 1: They're relevant.
- 43:58Speaker 5: Dallas Cowboys are relevant.
- 43:59Speaker 2: I agree.
- 44:00Speaker 4: As long as they got that star on their helmet,
- 44:02Speaker 4: the Cowboys are relevant.
- 44:03Speaker 1: All right, let me try here.
- 44:04Speaker 5: Let me try here.
- 44:06Speaker 1: The Raiders. The Raiders.
- 44:08Speaker 4: Could be less relevant if they tried. Maybe if they
- 44:11Speaker 4: start Fernando Mendoza, the committee will reevaluate them, but for
- 44:14Speaker 4: right now, irrelevant.
- 44:16Speaker 1: I mean, they're 1-0. It'd be the Dolphins, I understand.
- 44:18Speaker 1: Are the Dolphins?
- 44:20Speaker 4: No, Dolphins were in the March for Arch.
- 44:23Speaker 3: Sorry, I'm getting my tears confused.
- 44:24Speaker 4: The other two teams.
- 44:25Speaker 1: There are many teams who are in the March for
- 44:27Speaker 1: Arch tier that could also be in this tier.
- 44:29Speaker 4: Could it be less relevant if they tried?
- 44:30Speaker 1: Yes, correct.
- 44:31Speaker 3: It's the same tier.
- 44:34Speaker 4: The other two teams in the couldn't be less relevant
- 44:36Speaker 4: if they tried. So the reason why these two teams
- 44:39Speaker 4: aren't in the March for Arch tier is because I
- 44:40Speaker 4: think they have their quarterback. But overall, their team and
- 44:43Speaker 4: where they are in the NFL landscape couldn't be less
- 44:46Speaker 4: relevant if they tried.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Carolina.
- 44:48Speaker 4: It's the Saints and it's the Commanders.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Wow. The Saints aren't relevant?
- 44:53Speaker 2: No.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Wow. Wow.
- 44:56Speaker 6: The Mothershuckers are going to have to have some sort
- 44:59Speaker 6: of committee meeting of their own to determine if you
- 45:02Speaker 6: should be carrying the card.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Yes. I was so blown away by the Saints, I
- 45:05Speaker 1: didn't hear his second team. The Commanders. Oh. I mean,
- 45:08Speaker 1: they're relevant. No, they're not.
- 45:10Speaker 5: Yes, they are. They're not.
- 45:12Speaker 4: We went into the season saying three teams in the
- 45:15Speaker 4: NFC East are going to be relevant.
- 45:17Speaker 2: Right.
- 45:18Speaker 4: And the Giants were not originally in it.
- 45:19Speaker 2: No.
- 45:20Speaker 4: And now I've bumped the Giants into relevancy in the
- 45:22Speaker 4: NFC East.
- 45:22Speaker 1: Right.
- 45:23Speaker 4: But that, by extension, means one of the teams has
- 45:25Speaker 4: to drop out. And that's why Washington Commanders, we're bumping
- 45:28Speaker 4: you down. You're irrelevant.
- 45:29Speaker 1: But doesn't market history, Super Bowl victories, all that, doesn't
- 45:33Speaker 1: that automatically make you relevant?
- 45:34Speaker 4: What have you done for me lately?
- 45:36Speaker 1: All right. All right. Next year. That'd be a good tier.
- 45:39Speaker 1: The what have you done for me lately tier. Yes.
- 45:42Speaker 4: The next tier, three teams.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Wow.
- 45:45Speaker 4: Enough already. Like a dismissive, like enough already.
- 45:50Speaker 6: All right.
- 45:50Speaker 1: So this is the third. How many tiers?
- 45:51Speaker 5: That's Cowboys.
- 45:53Speaker 3: Slow down.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Slow down.
- 45:55Speaker 5: No, absolutely not.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Slow down. Cowboys and Chargers are in this. I am
- 45:59Speaker 1: begging you to slow down. These are Taylor's tears on
- 46:04Speaker 1: a Tuesday after week one. This is important stuff, man.
- 46:09Speaker 1: This is the third of how many tiers?
- 46:10Speaker 5: Eight.
- 46:11Speaker 1: This tier is enough already. All right.
- 46:15Speaker 4: With a dismissive hand wave.
- 46:17Speaker 5: All right.
- 46:17Speaker 1: So I know, Mikey, you already rattled them off, but
- 46:19Speaker 1: go ahead.
- 46:19Speaker 4: There's three teams.
- 46:20Speaker 1: The Chargers were in there, yes? The Chargers. Bang on. Okay.
- 46:24Speaker 1: What were the other ones?
- 46:25Speaker 5: The Cowboys.
- 46:26Speaker 4: Bang on. One more team in the enough already.
- 46:28Speaker 1: Enough already tier.
- 46:30Speaker 5: I don't remember if we mentioned this team yet. The Panthers?
- 46:33Speaker 2: No.
- 46:34Speaker 5: Did we get that one? Panthers.
- 46:35Speaker 4: Panthers holding strong so far.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Niners? Okay. No, not the Niners.
- 46:38Speaker 5: I love the Niners.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Rams?
- 46:40Speaker 5: Nope.
- 46:41Speaker 4: NFC South.
- 46:42Speaker 1: NFC South. Oh, wow. That entire division is 0-1. Oh,
- 46:44Speaker 1: it's the Bucs. It's the Bucs.
- 46:46Speaker 4: Baker Mayfield, you were better when you had a chip
- 46:48Speaker 4: on your shoulder, buddy.
- 46:51Speaker 1: How perfect is it that every team in that division
- 46:54Speaker 1: is 0-1?
- 46:56Speaker 4: That's exactly the way the NFC South, like.
- 46:59Speaker 1: All those four teams look at each other and they say,
- 47:01Speaker 1: we love everybody losing. Right. So you have all four
- 47:04Speaker 1: coaches getting together and saying, hey, let's all start 0-1.
- 47:06Speaker 4: Yeah, why not?
- 47:07Speaker 6: 8-9 is going to be last place in that division.
- 47:11Speaker 5: 9-8 is going to be first place in that division.
- 47:13Speaker 1: The next tier, the fourth tier, existing. You're just existing
- 47:18Speaker 1: in the NFL right now. Wow.
- 47:20Speaker 4: And there's only two teams in the existing.
- 47:22Speaker 1: Existing.
- 47:23Speaker 5: They're just kind of there.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Yeah, you're not really great. You're not really bad. You're
- 47:27Speaker 1: just existing.
- 47:28Speaker 4: Two teams.
- 47:29Speaker 1: Ooh. Thinking about it here. Panthers.
- 47:34Speaker 4: Not the Panthers.
- 47:34Speaker 3: Panthers still holding strong.
- 47:36Speaker 1: I mean, geez. Wow. Just existing.
- 47:39Speaker 4: Two teams.
- 47:40Speaker 3: And it can't be a team that you named already.
- 47:42Speaker 5: Correct.
- 47:43Speaker 4: I'll give you a hint. One's in the AFC South.
- 47:45Speaker 4: Just existing.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Jacksonville?
- 47:49Speaker 4: Jacksonville. You're just existing.
- 47:50Speaker 1: Only team that's 1-0 in that division. Ah, there it is.
- 47:55Speaker 4: And the other team is in the NFC North. Just existing.
- 48:00Speaker 3: I mean, it's a terrible hint you're giving us by
- 48:01Speaker 3: giving the division.
- 48:02Speaker 4: Not the Lions.
- 48:04Speaker 5: Oh, the Vikings.
- 48:04Speaker 4: The Vikings, yeah. Once you have Carson Wentz starting for you.
- 48:07Speaker 1: No one cares.
- 48:08Speaker 4: You're just existing.
- 48:10Speaker 5: Unless you have Kevin O'Connell whispering.
- 48:13Speaker 1: Yeah, he whispered Sam Darnold to Seattle.
- 48:17Speaker 4: Such a quarterback whisperer. Gave the Seahawks a Super Bowl
- 48:20Speaker 4: winning quarterback.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Do it with Kyler Murray. I mean, geez.
- 48:23Speaker 4: The next tier. The fifth tier. Hold on a second.
- 48:29Speaker 3: Ah, the hold on a second tier.
- 48:31Speaker 4: And there's three teams in the hold on a second tier.
- 48:34Speaker 3: Is this like, hold on a second. This team is
- 48:36Speaker 3: better than I thought.
- 48:37Speaker 4: I mean, like we don't, we don't want to go
- 48:40Speaker 4: as far to say they're contenders.
- 48:42Speaker 2: Right.
- 48:43Speaker 4: But we're holding on a second.
- 48:45Speaker 1: All right. The Jets?
- 48:46Speaker 5: The Jets.
- 48:47Speaker 2: Wow.
- 48:48Speaker 4: We're holding on a second.
- 48:48Speaker 3: How many teams in this tier?
- 48:50Speaker 4: Three teams.
- 48:50Speaker 1: Wow. The Giants? The Jets. The Giants, yep. Both New
- 48:54Speaker 1: York teams. A couple of New York teams cutting it up. Yeah.
- 48:57Speaker 4: One more team in the hold on a second tier.
- 48:59Speaker 1: Wow.
- 49:00Speaker 4: And I'll give you guys a hint. Their offense looked
- 49:04Speaker 4: all the part. Their offense looked.
- 49:07Speaker 1: Like they had it.
- 49:08Speaker 4: The Panthers, Mikey.
- 49:09Speaker 1: The Panthers. Wow.
- 49:10Speaker 4: What if we just look back at the end of
- 49:11Speaker 4: the season and Ben Johnson was right with the Bears
- 49:14Speaker 4: setting the scoring record and this Panthers team just ran
- 49:18Speaker 4: into a buzzsaw week one.
- 49:19Speaker 2: Yes.
- 49:20Speaker 1: Yeah, they did. They ran into a buzzsaw. I like
- 49:23Speaker 1: this Panthers team. Win or lose, they're entertaining.
- 49:28Speaker 4: And more often than not, lose.
- 49:29Speaker 1: Yeah, but who cares? Entertaining.
- 49:34Speaker 4: The next tier. Pretenders.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Wow.
- 49:39Speaker 3: How many teams?
- 49:39Speaker 4: Five teams in the pretender tier.
- 49:41Speaker 1: How many tiers left?
- 49:42Speaker 4: Three tiers.
- 49:43Speaker 1: Jesus Christ.
- 49:44Speaker 5: Okay. Pretenders.
- 49:46Speaker 1: Pretenders. These are pretenders, Mikey.
- 49:48Speaker 5: The Patriots.
- 49:49Speaker 4: Patriots, big-time pretenders. The P in Patriots stands for pretenders.
- 49:53Speaker 1: Dare I say Seattle?
- 49:54Speaker 5: Not Seattle. Wow. Not Seattle.
- 49:56Speaker 1: Get out of here with that. Drew Locke. I mean,
- 49:59Speaker 1: hold on a second.
- 50:01Speaker 5: For how long?
- 50:02Speaker 3: For how long?
- 50:02Speaker 1: Broncos.
- 50:03Speaker 4: Broncos, big-time pretenders after Monday Night Football.
- 50:06Speaker 6: Yep.
- 50:08Speaker 1: Okay. How many teams?
- 50:10Speaker 4: Five teams.
- 50:11Speaker 1: So three more, Mikey.
- 50:13Speaker 5: The Packers.
- 50:14Speaker 4: Packers, big time pretenders. The P and Packers also stands
- 50:17Speaker 4: for pretenders.
- 50:18Speaker 1: Okay.
- 50:23Speaker 6: Would Stu Gatz be mad because this quarterback is in
- 50:26Speaker 6: a pretenders?
- 50:28Speaker 1: No.
- 50:28Speaker 5: Category.
- 50:29Speaker 10: No.
- 50:29Speaker 5: Okay. So it's not them. Got it.
- 50:31Speaker 1: The Bengals?
- 50:33Speaker 4: Yes. This is one team that. severely disappointed week one
- 50:38Speaker 4: in terms of what their expectations were entering the season.
- 50:42Speaker 1: Nope.
- 50:42Speaker 4: Wright City, though.
- 50:43Speaker 5: No, they're gone. Eagles. Nope. Rams. Oh, I'm sorry. The Rams, yeah.
- 50:47Speaker 4: The Rams are in the pretender tier.
- 50:48Speaker 1: Wow.
- 50:49Speaker 3: You have them as pretenders.
- 50:50Speaker 5: Pretenders.
- 50:51Speaker 4: Big time pretenders.
- 50:54Speaker 3: Again, that team. I know they lost Miles Garrett.
- 50:59Speaker 1: But again, a year ago, that team was a play
- 51:01Speaker 1: away from making it to a Super Bowl with no
- 51:03Speaker 1: Miles Garrett and no Aaron Donald. And now they're pretenders.
- 51:10Speaker 4: The final team in the pretender tier, the Houston Texans.
- 51:14Speaker 4: And this is mainly just because CJ Stroud, I know
- 51:16Speaker 4: CJ Stroud did enough to win that game, or I
- 51:19Speaker 4: guess he didn't do enough to win that game. I
- 51:22Speaker 4: just don't trust C.J.
- 51:23Speaker 1: Stroud.
- 51:23Speaker 4: The committee doesn't trust C.J.
- 51:25Speaker 5: Stroud, I should say.
- 51:25Speaker 1: The committee, sure.
- 51:26Speaker 5: Yeah, the committee. Gotcha.
- 51:29Speaker 4: The next tier. Jury's still out.
- 51:32Speaker 1: You see what he did there, Mikey? So he could
- 51:34Speaker 1: just pawn it off on his committee and not take
- 51:36Speaker 1: responsibility for his terrible takes.
- 51:38Speaker 5: It's a heady play.
- 51:40Speaker 3: It is so smart.
- 51:41Speaker 1: I'm jealous.
- 51:42Speaker 4: No three teams in the jury still.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Out i need a panel yeah go ahead it's the
- 51:47Speaker 1: philadelphia eagles right this is jury still out okay.
- 51:51Speaker 4: Which is i know what people are thinking how is
- 51:53Speaker 4: jury still out different from hold on a second it's
- 51:57Speaker 4: a fair.
- 51:57Speaker 1: Question it's exactly what i.
- 51:58Speaker 5: Was just no it's good it's good.
- 52:00Speaker 1: I get it you gotta you gotta know the nuance
- 52:02Speaker 1: so this team has been to two super bowls they
- 52:04Speaker 1: win that division every single year but the jury's still
- 52:07Speaker 1: out yeah.
- 52:09Speaker 4: The Lions, the jury's still out.
- 52:10Speaker 1: I agree with that one.
- 52:11Speaker 4: You beat the Saints.
- 52:12Speaker 1: Yes, I agree with that one, yes.
- 52:14Speaker 4: And you didn't even look that impressive beating the Saints.
- 52:17Speaker 1: But they won. I mean, they're 1-0, and they, you know...
- 52:20Speaker 1: I mean, they're a solid football team.
- 52:22Speaker 3: We know that.
- 52:22Speaker 4: And then the final team in jury still out, the
- 52:26Speaker 4: Cincinnati Bengals, because I do like the acquisitions they made
- 52:29Speaker 4: in the offseason, and maybe they have a defense now,
- 52:32Speaker 4: but you would want to see a little more proof
- 52:34Speaker 4: of concept with that team.
- 52:35Speaker 1: Okay.
- 52:37Speaker 3: And you want to see if the quarterback stays healthy.
- 52:40Speaker 4: And then, shockingly, we have six contenders.
- 52:43Speaker 1: Wow, six contenders.
- 52:44Speaker 4: For the eighth and final tier.
- 52:46Speaker 1: So these are six teams that could win the Super
- 52:48Speaker 1: Bowl after week one. Not could win the Super Bowl. Right.
- 52:51Speaker 4: Will win the Super Bowl.
- 52:52Speaker 1: But only one can win the Super Bowl. Only one.
- 52:54Speaker 4: But it's going to come from this group of six
- 52:57Speaker 4: after week one.
- 52:58Speaker 1: Okay. It could come from any of those groups, though.
- 53:00Speaker 1: The Rams.
- 53:01Speaker 5: No, it can't.
- 53:02Speaker 1: No, it can't.
- 53:03Speaker 5: According to the tiers, no, it can't.
- 53:05Speaker 3: All right, stop yelling at me, man.
- 53:06Speaker 1: Well, technically.
- 53:07Speaker 4: The Eagles, Lions, and Bengals could still because they're in
- 53:10Speaker 4: the jury still out.
- 53:11Speaker 5: Right, but the jury's still out.
- 53:12Speaker 1: The tiers shift, Mikey. The Rams, what tier were they in?
- 53:17Speaker 5: Pretenders.
- 53:17Speaker 4: Pretenders, you can't win a Super Bowl.
- 53:19Speaker 1: All right, but a pretender could become a contender, no?
- 53:26Speaker 5: Maybe 10 weeks from now, there's a tier called I
- 53:30Speaker 5: was wrong.
- 53:31Speaker 1: What do you mean maybe?
- 53:32Speaker 5: And then the Rams will be in there. But until then.
- 53:34Speaker 1: The Patriots lost to the Raiders in week one last year.
- 53:39Speaker 1: They were pretenders, and then they became contenders.
- 53:42Speaker 4: Yes, but what did the Super Bowl prove? That the Patriots, ultimately, pretenders.
- 53:47Speaker 1: Pretenders. Okay, right. They didn't win it.
- 53:49Speaker 4: The six teams in the contender tier.
- 53:51Speaker 1: Right.
- 53:52Speaker 4: The Buffalo Bills.
- 53:53Speaker 5: Wow.
- 53:53Speaker 4: The Baltimore Ravens.
- 53:55Speaker 1: Yes.
- 53:55Speaker 4: The Seattle Seahawks. The San Francisco 49ers.
- 53:58Speaker 7: Really?
- 53:58Speaker 4: The Chicago Bears.
- 54:00Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 54:00Speaker 4: And after Monday Night Football, the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 54:03Speaker 1: Wow.
- 54:05Speaker 5: Fighting spags.
- 54:06Speaker 1: So the Super Bowl champion will come from one of
- 54:09Speaker 1: those six, that group of six teams right there.
- 54:12Speaker 4: According to my committee, that features Condoleezza Rice.
- 54:16Speaker 1: Congratulations to the contenders, according to Taylor and the committee,
- 54:21Speaker 1: and our apologies to the Rams.
- 54:23Speaker 3: You're not winning it this year.
